Since the story looks interesting and unique than the previous AC titles, but I am really curious (and a bit worried) on how developers going to show the interaction of the Yasuke with the local Japanese people of the 15-16th century without making it racist/discriminatory OR unrealistic in any way. We all know Japan is very homogeneous country with not much diversity even at the modern times and it was even more homogenous during the 1400-1500s and it was also under the long isolation period from the outside world for few hundred years, but despite all these, how do you think Yasuke as a unique foreigner going to explore/interact with the local people? You think Yasuke can go anywhere and do anything as if he's a native Japanese person and the local people will be just like "Hey there!, Can you bring back my sword taken by the enemies and I can give you a hefty reward?" completely ignoring that he's a foreigner with a different skin color and look? I mean I am pretty sure most of the Japanese back then (the era with heavy isolation with no internet and TV) would have never ever seen a Black person before (even the White or Brown person too at the wider extent) and even most of them haven't even seen today, if that's the case how do you think developers going to potray it?
OR you think they will just ignore that he is foreigner and just treat them like he's a native, I mean I have seen plenty of videos of Black foreigners in the China and the amount of the attention they get from the local people asking for the selfies/staring/crowd gathering is very high even today irl and I assuming it is similar in the Japan too, if they didn't showed any type of similar extra attention for being a Black foreigner that too in a medieval and isolated Japan in any way, isn't that makes a bit weird and unrealistic and a bit out-of-place? In most chapters of my life echoes the music of Nightwish. I was 14 years old when I discovered them and since then they have been my comfort and my refuge. To me, they are the only band whose whole discography I adore. I enjoy every song. When life was good, they were my joy and when life was bad they provid me with the ultimate Escapism.
As I listened to their music, album after album, I wanted to learn more about the band members. Soon I was captivated by Tuomasâ personality and creativity. He became my idol and the inspiration that led me learn the piano by myself and write stories.
What I wanted to say, though, is that I realized how lucky and grateful I am that I got to live in the Nightwish Era. From the moment they were formed until they created their own musical constellation. Previous generations that are no longer in this world perhaps never heard of Nightwish. Future generations will know that there was once a band called Nightwish which made music that speaks to the soul, caresses the senses and connects so many people around the world.
But we⌠all of us are here to witness with anticipation the birth of each new album. We are given the chance to argue about every song, what we like and what we donât, whether it meets our expectations etc. The departures of loved band members left us with a heavy heart, wondering what the future holds and if this could be a potential end of the band. But Nightwish went on. New members came and, no matter how big were the shoes they had fill, they did it in their own way. In the end itâs all about the music. We have the privilege to witness the history of Nightwish in the making, to watch them in their Greatest Show on Earth.
And that makes us the lucky ones!

 | I apologize if I used a wrong tag or if this kind of discussion isn't allowed. I just thought this would be a fun discussion to have, plus I felt like sharing stories. For starters I have 2 cats, both of which came to us via the cat distribution system when they were kittens (although years apart.) I was 12 years old. My dad was helping my grandparents around their house before our family get together later that evening (I live in the US.) A couple of runners come around to my grandparent's house with 4 kittens that look to be 3-4 weeks old possibly. They had found them alone on the side of the road. They were asking for a box to leave them in because they couldn't take them but didn't want them wondering into the road. My dad was basically like "nah they're coming home with me." And gave them to my older sister to bring home. There were two boy kittens and two girl kittens. Until we could get a proper set up for the kittens we had them in a box in my room. But I had them out at one point on my bed. All of them fell asleep somewhere along my body, I remember Jake's brother fell asleep in the bend of my arm while one of his sisters was next to my belly. But Jake decided that he was going to curl up right under my chin. That's when I knew that if given the chance I was gonna keep him. We found homes for his 3 siblings and the rest is history. He's now my almost 12 year old cat and I wouldn't trade him for anything. Willow: I can't remember the exact date we got Willow. But I do remember I was 17 (almost 18) and was on my way back home from a school trip. My friend had texted me saying that her uncle (whom she lives with at the time) had brought home a kitten and was looking for a home for it. They couldn't keep her because they already had other animals that didn't get along with her. But anyway he had gotten her from his work. He works at a local hardware store and a feral mama had given birth next to the lumber yard. Which as you can imagine isn't safe for kittens, so once they started walking him and a couple of his coworkers went and gathered them. Last I knew they were trying to tnr mama but it's been years. Willow had 2 brothers which were caughtand adopted by the coworkers while he caught Willow. Said friend had also texted my mom about her asking if we wanted her seeing as we had raised young kittens before. My mom was all for it, dad not so much. For context we had just lost our older cat a few weeks prior, said cat had claimed my dad as her person. But we all agreed that dad needed to at least meet her before he decided. So we brought her to my house to visit, gave her to my dad, and she instantly fell asleep in his beard. Like didn't even sniff him first, we literally set her on his chest and she went straight for the beard. He couldn't say no after that. 6 years later and she has him wrapped around her paw. (For those wondering, yes I do dress Willow up. I've been harness training her and taking her out since she was big enough to fit into a kitten harness. I also take her to events, like this outfit I made for her to wear to our local ren faire. She is unbothered by pretty much anything at this point đ.) |

BLUF: What are some ways to bring a party of adventurers together before they know each other?
Background: Hello all, I've spent the past 4-5 months off and on making my first homebrew DnD campaign world! Set to a kingdom scale to roughly the size of Iraq, I've styled it similar to skyrim in format whereas there are multiple questlines the players can pick up or drop as they please and how they want to tell their stories through the characters.
As a starter, I'm asking that the players make characters that have either travelled to the starting town in the past year or are locals to that town. From there, I intend to offer various plot hooks that lead into the major questlines of the campaign (thieves guild, magical college, and political/warfare). The starting town where i expect them to stay for 6-7 sessions give or take is currently in occupied territory of an invading rival kingdom and enough time has passed to allow general peace and commerce to resume.
For a session 1 starter, I'm thinking about having them all be in a jailhouse for their own reasons and either giving them the opportunity to escape or stand their trial as law-abiding citizens. That's just one idea of mine.
I have lots of ideas for quest hooks and story-driven adventures but I'm just not entirely sure how to make an exciting start for a group of players that may or may not know each other based on their backstories they send me.

So I finally started playing the game (not finished yet) and realised a stark difference between the House of Ashes and this.
I loved the intro of the Devil in Me and was surprised to see that... it's not going to build on that. I kind of lost the appeal realising we re jumping to a new set of characters that are going to be going to the hotel... which takes too much time!!!
House of Ashes has sort of the same intro, characters from the past, a really captivating story introduction, but it didnt feel as disjointed as Devil in Me when you actually play the game.
What I kinda dislike and I wish they would change this is to meet the playable characters as you progress, not all in the beginning. Until Dawn kinda did that. The same with the Quarry.
House of Ashes is great once you get underground and get past the military planning in the beginning, but The Devil in Me didn't feel like it kept things for later.
Hopefully with the long wait for season 2, we will see some improvements to progression and pacing. The wow factor has been almost inexistent for me in The Devil in Me probably because it felt so slow and then feeling like I already have too much at hand in about 2 hours.

Based on a true story but with a unique twist, this narrative feels both singular and authentic, as though its extraordinary events could indeed have transpired.
Initially, I anticipated a younger reading experience, given the rise of Asian YA novels at the time of its release. However, this book took me by surprise, exuding a raw and real essence that is mature and dark. Donât let preconceptions influence you as they did me; if you are a fan of the Dandelion Dynasty series, you should definitely give this book a chance. âShe Who Became the Sunâ is a story of ascension to great power, highly political and driven by war. It offers a historical novel that is intensely military without veering into pure military fantasy, deftly intertwining deep explorations of gender and identity. The revelation that Zhu is actually a woman in an era when women had no voice adds a thrilling twist to the narrative. The book handles gender themes subtly and cleverly, avoiding heavy-handedness. There are no preachy dialogues about what it means to be a man or a woman; instead, the story itself immerses you in these experiences, making them feel natural and unforced. It delves into the nuances of identity and the disruption of oneâs sense of self through various life events.

Additionally, Zhuâs time in the monastery is beautifully depicted, with Buddhism woven seamlessly into the story. I would have preferred a purely historical novel, as it would have suited the narrative better.

Each one, from the monks in the monastery who take in Zhu to the soldiers and peasants in the background, has their own story and motivation, enriching the narrative. These characters all contribute to a multi-layered and realistic portrayal of the world.
