2024.05.14 02:30 Joshawa675 Best way to go about selling a car owned by a celebrity

Hi there, we found out my girlfriend owns a car formerly owned by a very popular pop star. We found out by retrieving the LexisNexis report on the vehicles registration history.
It's a Tesla model 3, and we're interested in selling it but want to try to maximize any chance we have of getting the best price for it. My girlfriend would like to make enough money off it to buy herself flowers at the very least.
Does anyone have any suggestions regarding where we can try to sell it to get the most value? Thank you!
Edit: I put a hint to who the celeb was in the post

2024.05.13 22:25 Saucy_Sealion I have been denied the Capital One Savor One card twice because they couldn't validate my phone number!! Pls help

Hello, I recently applied for the Capital One Savor One student card a few days ago, and I was given an Adverse Action Letter saying this:
"Thank you for applying for a credit card issued by Capital One®. We have reviewed your application and information obtained from your consumer credit report(s) from the consumer reporting agencies detailed on the back of this letter. Because your credit score was reported as missing or invalid, we also considered additional information provided by LexisNexis Risk Solutions Inc. Unfortunately, after considering the information available, we cannot approve your request at this time.
The reason(s) for our decision are:
• Based on your credit report from one or more of the agencies on the back of this letter, unable to validate phone number provided (LexisNexis Risk Solutions Inc.)"
This is the second time I have applied for this card. A few months ago, I got denied and was given a letter with the exact same reason, so I thought I would wait for a bit for the database to update. After I got denied the second time, I called LexisNexis and they said they had all of my information, but they did not have my phone number and could not update their database, even though I gave it to them and I was calling their consumer service line with it. I just don't know what to do in this situation.
Some extra info: I only have one credit card right now, the Discover It student card, and I have a credit score of around 700. I got my grandmother's phone number after she passed away, but even though that happened 8 years ago its possible that it is affecting the phone number getting verified.
Has anyone who has been in a similar situation have any advice?🤞

2024.05.13 21:27 PoorJudgement_101 One Not At Fault claim and now cant leave Geico

We’re sorry, but Progressive declined your application because the Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) and/or Claims Loss Underwriting Exchange (C.L.U.E.) report shows one of the drivers on your quote had 1 or more prior insurance claims. Therefore, you are not eligible for coverage through any of our Progressive companies. The report(s) were provided by:
LexisNexis Risk Solutions Inc. Attn: Customer Inquiry P.O. Box 105295 Atlanta, GA 30348-5295 800-456-6004 www.consumerdisclosure.com
Geico is charging 40% higher than progressive quote but progressive is denying coverage due to above. Called Geico and they said I only have one not at fault claim in 2023.
Edit: This is just progressive being regressive : As per their new policy they dont provide insurance if there is any claims for state of NJ.

2024.05.11 17:16 Geck-v6 LexisNexis wants me to provide a police report that doesn't exist

I've been going through this for years, and usually spend an hour or so, get so fucking fed up with their piece of shit system and give up.
For the past 5+ years or so every time I pay for car insurance they say I have an at-fault accident on record. I have NO idea what they're talking about....
I've gone through the shit with AllState, Geico and Progressive and each one tells me there is nothing they can do, since this is whats being reported by LexisNexis.
LexisNexis, whatever the hell this company is, is extremely hard to reach. When I do finally reach a real person, they want me to provide a police report that doesn't exist, from an accident that never happened, saying that I'm not at fault. They won't budge on this and INSIST i procure this mystical non-existent document.
This feels like the scene from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia when Mac asks Dennis if he also has a certificate saying he doesn't have donkey brains.
How do I fix this?

2024.05.10 19:32 justforfuninlife Data from LexisNexis

I become more conscious about what information is out there and how it affects my privacy. Been trying to strengthen my privacy, although trying not go too extreme. In reading posts on LexisNexis, it seems like there’s a caution in opting out of LN. I’m not in any extreme circumstance where I’m in any kind of threat from data privacy issues, but I do want to just put safeguards that try and protect data out there in the universe. From my reading, it seems like freezing your data is better on LexisNexis than options out.
Curious for opinions on this.

2024.05.10 08:34 SecondChance357 Chase, WF, IBKR, Robinhood, Schwab closed my accounts..

Backstory: 5 years ago, I found myself in a legal mess, that was publicly reported on. During that time, I got account closure notices from almost every financial firm that I held accounts at, and these notices would trickle in every few months like clockwork - I went through a cycle of opening accounts at new firms, moving money, closing accounts, and then a new account closure notice from the new firm, and repeat... I would ask the representatives for their reasons, but they would never give any reason beyond saying that it's confidential. I obviously figured it was due to the public legal mess. Anyways, after a difficult time, I was able to settle my case, without any formal criminal/civil conviction.
Now, I have a checking/savings account at a new bank for a few years (and counting...). But recently I got a notice from my retirement firm asking me to close my IRA accounts with them, and move it elsewhere. I'm surprised and I still can't understand what triggered it, since the case has been closed/settled for a long while now.
I pulled in all my credit reports (Equifax, Transunion and Experian) - my credit score is 700+. I also got my reports from LexisNexis, ChexSystems, Early Warning Services (EWS). There is no adverse event mentioned in any of them. Among these 6 reports, I saw that my retirement firm had accessed the EWS report at account opening. But clearly, it didn't cause any issue then, and nor did the report contain any adverse information.
How do I figure out what's triggering this recent closure, and how do I avoid it in the future? The reps won't say anything. I've been rebuilding my life slowly and steadily, and this episode has got me feeling a bit deflated.
As an aside, I feel sorry for those who have formal convictions and I can't imagine what they have to go through...I can't believe that all of them are getting locked out of the financial system?!

Just got my LexisNexis report. Thanks GM for tracking me and selling my data including the most likely times I am commuting and out of my home. I have been leaving google reviews on every GM dealership (that I have ever been to), letting future customer know my experience. They actually really care about this. I received a call from a manager they day I left a review once. Ramble over.
What the hell are '-1' events? I have both positive and negative 'Acceleration' and 'Hard Brake' events.

2024.05.09 21:44 jaya9581 AZ Auto renewal is up over 100%. A claim is being reported that’s not mine.

AZ - I am having a heck of a time renewing my home and auto this year. Both went up just over 100%.
I’ve gotten some better home quotes, but I’m having trouble with the auto. We have a 15 Prius and 21 CRV, no at fault accidents ever. I hit a coyote (it hit me really) in 2017 and that’s been it. We’ve had 3 glass claims since 2019, and 2 roadside assistance (putting on a donut both times).
A quote I recently received included claim info that contributed to the rate on it. The coyote incident is too old and not on there. The glass and roadside claims are. But there is also a claim for a not at fault accident from 11/2019.
I was never in any kind of accident and never made any claims in November 2019. I got a LexisNexis report that shows a claim with all my info (address, DOB, license #) but someone else’s name and a car I’ve never owned.
I’ve never been the victim of identity theft. I am pretty religious about checking my credit, etc. I think this is just a pure mistake. Like maybe someone got in an accident and gave their policy number a digit off or something.
I am at a loss for how to fix this. My agent said once it’s reported it’s on there forever. I don’t understand how this can be contributing to a rate increase when it’s not me and I never even talked to anyone at my insurance about it.

2024.05.09 05:02 AntiMarx GM Officially Cancelling the OnStar "Smart Driver" ~spyware~ program - confirms Canadian Bolt drivers were never affected

A few hours ago today the OnStaGM e-mail came through to me.
Thanks to their corporate Plawyers, I'm not surprised that the news tap dances around the whole "why we're actually doing this" thing unless you go to the very last FAQ question on their website.

From the Canadian FAQ page:
Q: "Do you share the data with LexisNexis or Verisk, or other third-party telematics exchange companies?
(A:) Information collected by the OnStar Smart Driver service in relation to Canadian customers is not shared with third parties (including LexisNexis or Verisk) for their own use or for insurance purposes.
Additionally, for US customers, as of March 20th, OnStar Smart Driver customer data is no longer being shared with LexisNexis or Verisk. Customer trust is a priority for us, and we are actively evaluating our privacy processes and policies."

2024.05.09 02:47 Practical-Big7550 What do I say to the other person's insurance adjuster?

I was hit by a person who was speeding and blew a red light. (according to the police report from NexisLexis). Police just happened to be at the spot, so they have the whole thing on dashcam and a witness provided the same story.
My car was totaled, I ended up in hospital for a few hours while they checked for breakage. I'm covered in bruises and contusions, and in a lot of pain.
I am off work for at least a week.
I've been told that the insurance adjuster for the person who hit me is going to me (to get my side.)
What are the does and do not when speaking to their adjuster? What can I expect as compensation? Should I contact a personal injury lawyer?

2024.05.08 17:38 -_Snivy_- Abnormal amounts of fatigue, could long term Nexplanon use be the cause?

This is my fourth implant, and other than some weight gain and my period stopping I have had zero issues. However this past year, even before I got it replaced in November, I have been absolutely exhausted no matter what I do. I tried getting enough sleep, too much sleep, too little sleep, vitamins, diet changes, blood tests etc. and I cannot seem to gain ANY energy, caffeine isn't even helping anymore. Is it likely that my time with Nexy is over if I want to stop feeling like a walking corpse all the time? Thanks in advance!

2024.05.08 17:15 New-Chicken5566 Lexis Nexis report and disputing it

So many of us have seen our Lexis Nexis reports and obviously they're full of bullshit like being dinged for "hard braking" by using the regen.
Has anyone tried disputing the telematics reports on their record? I wonder if we could dispute each individual item and if they will re-check with GM on them and since they've turned off the data sharing they would not re-validate any disputed records.
separate question: has anyone tried to crowdsource a list of insurance companies that do or don't use this information?

Hi all.
I recently came across this NYT article ( https://www.nytimes.com/2024/03/11/technology/carmakers-driver-tracking-insurance.html?smid=nytcore-android-share) that mentions Subaru partners with LexisNexis to share driving behavior with insurance carriers. LexisNexis confirms this on their website (https://risk.lexisnexis.com/products/telematics-exchange)
Is there any way to opt out of this?
I am in California in case that matters.

2024.05.05 22:19 MsTerious1 Generic questions about class action suits

I am eligible to participate in a class action suit on a matter that may have resulted in the loss of part of my kidney, but I'm having trouble evaluating attorneys and hiring one. It seems they all want a representation agreement signed before they will talk to me.
Questions:
- Is it typical for a representation agreement to have the recovery percentage AND another clause that says separately that after recovery, the client must pay legal fees, filing fees, medical costs, etc.? I thought that normally comes out of the percentage taken off the top.
- Is there a way for the average person to evaluate a law firm's win/loss record? I knew how to search this type of info on Lexis+ but I don't know how to as a non-legal-field consumer.
- I know to be alert for what I call "gotcha" clauses in any contracts, but are there any I should be alert to in a class action case? In this instance, the law firm will be in a different state (two different states, potentially, when including co-counsel). I don't know what information I should be aware of when considering this.
Thank you! (Also, if your firm is a firm that handles class actions and "forever chemicals" cases, I am interested in evaluating your firm as a possible representative.)

2024.05.05 21:29 Dmayce22 The Tragedy of Brandy Foller, Pt. 1

Author's Note: This is a fictional story formatted in the first of a series of letters. They document an exchange of mail between fictional teenage girl Brandy Foller and fictional musician Alexis "Lexi" Lacroix (pronounced La-kroy). I took some inspiration from Stan by Eminem (Marshall Mathers III) featuring Dido (Florian Cloud de Bounevialle O'Malley Armstrong). I will be posting the next parts of the story to this subreddit, too.
Dear Alexis Lacroix, 5/12/23
My name is Brandy Foller. You probably hear this every single day, but I am your biggest fan. Anybody else who says they are must not know me, because I really am. I've listened to all 307 of your songs, which I counted myself because the app I have doesn't show how the amount of songs that artists have.
Anyways, out of all your songs, my personal favorite is probably "Shattered to Pieces." I like it because it portrays my parents' divorce down to every detail. I don't mean to give you too much information, though, and I'm definetely not trying to make you feel bad for me. I just wanted you to know that your songs are written very well, and are very relatable to people like me. In fact, sometimes I feel like... your songs are written specifically for me, and yes, I'm aware it sounds strange.
Another thing, I'm actually named after a song by Looking Glass. I remember you said on the Rythm Show that they were your favorite band, right? Isn't that a little crazy? Also, I remember that song you did called "Falling," the over of the Surfaces song, which kind of portrays my last name. I don't know, though. That's probably a stretch.
As a fifteen-year-old biracial girl, I feel like I really have a lot in common with you. I remember when you were the same age as I am now, just starting out as a singer. Since I can't sing, I just wanted to thank you for making music for people like me.
We actually met once, at a convention in Los Angelos, but I doubt you actually remember it because you must've signed a million autographs that day. But I was there. I had a shirt with your "Lucky for Life" album cover on it (my personal favorite), and my hair was actually not in dreadlocks for once. It was the best experience ever. I'm the one who said about a bajillion times "It's her!"
Anyway, keep making your wonderful music, and write me back, maybe?
Your Fan,
Brandy Foller

2024.05.05 19:25 sintactacle Get your free report from LexisNexis to see if GM (or whomever else) is sharing your data with them without your known consent

I know some are familiar with recent lawsuits cropping up against GM/OnStar for sharing driver data to LexisNexis without consent, to which insurance companies are using to potentially increase your rates or even deny you coverage. Thanks to the Fair Credit Reporting Act, this is something they need to provide to you for free. I requested mine last week so I should get it in a about a week or so in the mail.
https://consumer.risk.lexisnexis.com/request
What are they tracking? From a recent class action lawsuit (in which a commenter is a Colorado owner) :
GM collected data such as average speed, frequency and intensity of acceleration and braking, percentage of time exceeding 80 miles per hour and late-night driving habits, the GM driver data class action says.
The lawsuit alleges that the data is taken out of context by the agencies, and that it both led to increases in their insurance premiums and prevented them from acquiring less expensive insurance from other providers
These are not inherently bad events that are recorded, leading to rate increases.
I'll admit in my younger days, I tried the progressive snapshot thing that plugs into your OBD2 port and would give you a "discount" for avoiding these types of events. I ripped it out after about two days. I was getting hard braking dings for stopping for a light that had turned to red upon approach. So basically, run the red light to avoid the hard braking events being logged. Also hard acceleration dings for turning onto a busy road when an opening would appear where the alternative is sit for quite a while.
That deer that ran out in front of you or that old lady who pulled out in front of you that you had to hit the brakes hard to avoid an accident? That's a ding against you.
Same goes for that short on ramp that you need to get up to highway speeds quickly to filter into the flow of traffic or entering the highway in a construction zone where the on ramp has a stop sign now at the merge point, that's a ding against you too.
Keeping up with the flow of traffic on Texas State Highway 130 which has a 41 mile stretch posted at 85 MPH? Yup, that's a ding against you as well.
And yes, I get the counter point about apps/your phone tracking you which definitely is a thing but you can leave that at home/turn it off if it's a concern. Also, opting out may not be what you think it is as OnStar caught shit for continuing to track your location/speed even when you were no longer paying for OnStar over a decade ago : https://www.wired.com/2011/09/onstar-tracks-you/
Navigation-and-emergency-services company OnStar is notifying its six million account holders that it will keep a complete accounting of the speed and location of OnStar-equipped vehicles, even for drivers who discontinue monthly service.
Ideally you'd be able to yank a fuse to physically disable the data collection hardware component itself but that's probably not possible.

2024.05.05 16:19 No_Pineapple9928 Why folks hate the musical episode, song beneath the song

Why folks hate the musical episode, song beneath the song
The musical episode - makes, then breaks “the rules.”
The conceit behind every musical is that there is a rationale to why the songs happen.
For many musicals, songs represent the emotional peaks and valleys. This causes the characters to voice their feelings in song form to each other. (For example - The King & I; Dear Evan Hanson)
Or, sometimes it’s people’s inner thoughts and feelings - that is the musical number is strictly understood to be the internal reality externalized. These are often about the status quo of a place vs longing of characters to leave. (The Band’s Visit; A Little Night Music)
Or other times, it’s a broad structural event, like a communal performance of a show (Cabaret; Cats!) or a history (Come From Away) and everyone coming and going is pulled into the musical event.
The musical episode starts in Callie’s head - she’s singing to herself. Then when she meets Owen, she shows the audience that she is hearing music. Owen suddenly signing is something she reacts to - we understand it is in her head.
But the moment when Lexie steps out of the OR to sing on her way to find Mark, the rules suddenly don’t apply - we have switched from a single character POV (Callie) to an omniscient POV. And so, there’s no reason for them to sing.
When the characters are nearby Callie, such as Mark and Arizona arguing about her fate, the musical construct works. When they go home to bone? There’s not a way Callie would “know” this. The songs then become a substitute for plot - they are emotional short cuts to let us know how the characters are feeling, but not on general, figurative level.
I haven’t re-watched this episode since I saw it live. It wasn’t well received then. Maybe if they’d done their own actual songs vs repackaged hits? I don’t know. Jukebox musicals often fall flat (see Donna Summers, Billy Joel, etc).
I’m a huge SR fan & she sung the crap outta her numbers. But if you’re not a super fan, you may find this skippable.
