Just a little background here. I'm 28 currently and i work for a beverage company that distrubutes it across various stores. Ive been doing this for close to 5 years now. It's a lot of phsycial labor. My co workers are a hit and miss and many people call out and the sales represenitives order to much product so we have a lot of extra work to do. Just company stanards. I make 22.95 an hour now after 5 years. Full benefeits and 401k which i don't contribute too as i invest on my own. I had an interview with a third party Geico office and i got offered 21 an hour starting pay plus bonuses and potential for more raises. They have a matching 401k and they pay for only half of benefeits. Would this be a good career to pursue for experience of getting into the industry or finding other customer service jobs? I'm a little nervous but really like the idea of being an insurance agent and helping people. This office doesn't do cold calling. They only call people that haven't finished their quote or taking care of already existing customers.

Recently bought the game on sale for the 10 year anniversary, so I'm fairly new, but I've been playing as a Necromancer tank, and I can honestly see how having a magicka based pull and the aoe immobilize can make my job 1000× easier. I wanted to get the opinion of some veteran players though.

So I'm working on a spreadsheet to speed up quoting jobs in a fabrication shop and I've hit a wall.
Most of the info I need is dependent on a 'material type' dropdown and a 'thickness' dropdown to help me estimate laser cutting times. I named a few tables with laser feed rates (etc.) after their material types and am able to have Excel refer to these tables if I link them individually, but can't get it to work through a dropdown.
L3 is the dropdown list for materials, E3 is the thickness dropdown. VLOOKUP(E3,A36_STEEL,3) works fine, but if I change it to VLOOKUP(E3,L3,3), it won't look at the named table with the name selected from L3 even after making sure the dropdown exactly matches the table's name.
I could just make a tab for each material, but I'm trying to keep this compact and easy for some of the other office people to use and switching between tabs is just going to lead to mistakes being made down the road.

Not sure how else to phrase it, because I love him but he has a really bad way of being thoughtless and selfish. Our first Christmas, I was impressed with a gift that he made for his mom. It was cheap, literally just a bunch of notes in a paper bag labeled "reasons I love you" and each was a sentiment or story or inside joke. It was cheap and I understood because he was a broke-ass teenager who couldn't hold down a job.
Since then, though, I've come to experience his assumption and expectation for what he will be receiving for birthdays and Christmas. For example, he'll assume we were going to spend a few hundred dollars on gifts, and ask for it in cash instead of gifts. He asked for us to renew his medical weed permit ($250 at the time) and claimed that's all he wanted, then acted all shitty when there wasn't much else to open. He knows he gets money from his grandpa, so he's asked for advances on it. Every gift he treats as an expected transaction, taken for granted, not as a gift. For Christmas, his mom got him a necklace I think, that was sort of silly but there was a reason she got it. If he didn't like wearing it, I didn't blame him, but he could hang it from a tac on his wall or something. Instead, he actually gave it back to her right there within moments of opening it, saying it wasn't his style.
What finally pissed me off enough to write this was Mother's Day. I asked him weeks ago what he was going to do for his mom. He's 24 and no longer lives with us, but he has a job and is still getting food stamps from his brief unemployment, Actually has more than he needs to the point of stocking up before the benefits expire. Anyway, I remind him weeks ago that Mother's Day is coming up, his mom doesn't want anything but a nice heartfelt card or note because we know he's working hard and trying to save for a car and a better place. We tell him Mom wants to go to ihop, nothing fancy at all. We didn't offer to pay, but I assumed we would. We pick him up and take him after work. While we are waiting for our food, he gives her a card.
The card was literally a picture on the front and a sentence on the inside that he said "this kinda says how I feel so I didn't write anything else." And to be clear, what I mean is: the card had a sentence printed on the inside. He did not write anything, he didn't even sign his name. If we wanted to return the card, we could have. It was literally right off the shelf, and obviously a last minute purchase that he bought from work just moments before we picked him up.
Number one, I hate how shitty it makes me feel when WE show emotional investment in him with not only our thoughtful gifts but also very sincere cards and notes. We show a ton of support, love, and appreciation for him and everything he does and has done. For him to gloss over that while searching for the money inside the card is like holy shit, you're an adult, are you not aware of how selfish you look? If you're going to be an asshole, at least pretend to not be one in front of us. Second, and this is important: You will not be successful in relationships if you are an emotional slug like that. I can't imagine how his girlfriends would feel or how his wife would feel with this approach to her birthday or anniversary. You cannot half-ass something that is significant to you in any way, especially when it is equally or more significant to people you love.
My wife, who often suppresses her reactions to these kinds of things, actually broke down and told me how disappointed she was when she got that Mother's Day card. If she's willing to say something about it, I can only imagine it's more than what she's expressed because she doesn't want to be negative toward her son. I get that. So I can't imagine how low she felt when after all that she's done for him, especially in the past year, his only gift is a last-minute purchase of convenience, no thought, and not even his own words. Not even a signature.

Hey everyone, I really could use some advice and I didn't see the rules of the AITA, so my original post got deleted.
So, for some context: Me and my partner have been together for 4 years now. 1.5 years ago, we changed countries and are still adjusting to our new lifestyle in a way. We came from a poorer country, and now we finally have a better life in general.
I (25F) came with a permanent contract, and he (27M) came with a fixed-term contract (1y), my salary being the highest salary by a large margin. So, for a while, I was already being the main provider, which is totally fine with me. In the meanwhile, we managed to save some money, but just enough so that if anything happens, we have some back-up.
Now, to the current situation: He has been unemployed for the past 5 months, and it was really tough for us. He started getting really moody, and the first 1-2 months were completely hellish. However, after leaving his job, he realized how he felt so unappreciated by his previous bosses and I suggested that maybe it was good to have a break and get some education (which was an opportunity he had never had previously and I wanted him to experience it too). He gave it some thought, and decided to apply for a bachelor, and thankfully, he got in! Very happy for him for that.
The problem starts here: I was always very vocal about how I preferred that he found a part-time and studied full-time, or the opposite, to ensure we could maintain our heads afloat. What I didn't know was that he actually never thought much about this, and that his goal is to focus only on studying for the next 3 years.
His perspective is, and I quote: "If I find a full-time job until my university starts, fine. If not, I'll just study." I have asked what about summer jobs, part-time jobs or even internships, and he always seems to dismiss it and say that there's nothing for him, and that you need to know the local language to get those, etc. In these 5 months, there was absolutely no effort on his side to learn the local language, he has been playing games and doom scrolling for most of his day. Sends some applications here and there, and that's it. Lately, and after being accepted for university, the number of applications sent is almost getting to 5 per week.
This has become concerning to me, because it means I will be the only one handling everything for 3 years. I want to be a supportive partner like I have been so far but his lack of interest in getting a job is making my belly twist, specially considering we have made great efforts to get him stuff he wants (e.g: his first car) and that when we talked about it before he got accepted, he seemed to be really motivated to do that.
We have argued about this, and he's pissed, saying that he thought he could count on me and apparently that has changed. The one friend I have told this to says I'm being dumb and that he would never put his girlfriend in this position, but I don't really know.

TPUSA was later accused of “using intimidation and harassment to control students, faculty, and staff for their practice of promoting hate speech.” The student body at Texas State University called for the university to deplatform TPUSA for the “consistent history of creating hostile work and learning environments through a myriad of intimidation tactics aimed against students and faculty” that they think TPUSA has.
Students have been trying to deplatform invited speakers and administrators they don’t like on school grounds. In 2015, Yale professor Nicholas A. It will surely be interesting to see how pro-Palestine protestors react to the case NSPA v. Skokie that happened in 1977. In 2017, Charles Murray was forced to shut down his lecture when students started shouting to stop him from being heard. Last month, Jewish professor Shai Davidai of Columbia was banned from the university after being vocal against the Free Palestine movement.
In the speech made by psychologist Jonathan Haidt explaining The Coddling of the American Mind, his book that talks about college students today, he stated that parents today are overprotective of their children. He explained that this will lead to their children feeling entitled to never being or even feeling offended in his book. Students now think it is written that it is a right to not feel offended.

mostly just venting here but holy fuck I'm so heated right now it's insane.
I'm a sub who bids to millworkers primarily(solid surface). One millworker in particular is a very good customer. They're a pretty decent size company and have 4 project managers. 3 of them are great. 1 of them is an absolute fucking shit show. This dude is incredibly forgetful for a guy who's supposed to be a PM at a high end millworker. He's very much the face of that meme/joke where one persons lack of preparation should not suddenly become your emergency. He's good for "I forgot to send you this job how fast can you get it done?" on a semi-regular basis.
This guy had us make him a mock up for a project we have under contract with him. As far as we knew, the mock up was fine and everything is cool. Then he emails me and says "here's the updated shop drawings and your quote, I believe you have everything covered but we are now changing detail, please provide a change order for this"
I send the change order. a few weeks go by and we start doing the job and realize something is off. what they're asking for is requiring about $2000 more in materials than I ever figured. Come to find out, that detail previously mentioned was not the only change from the mock up. So i go back to him and ask, what happened here? the project was quoted like this per the architectural's, the mock up was made the same, and now the project is being done differently, to the tune of $2000 in materials? "I sent you the drawings and told you to update the pricing, if you missed that it's on you. It's not my job to point out the changes" is the response i got.
You sack of shit mother fucker you specifically told me what to change and that it was the only the change. I wish I could post the drawing I was sent without potentially doxing myself just to show how buried the new dimension in question was. If I didn't think it was pure stupidity and forgetfulness on his end, I'd think he was trying to sneak it by me on purpose. so of course now he refuses to pay for the additional material because I "missed" it and he can't submit another change order for it himself. Did I "miss" the fact that 1 dimension changed? apparently. but I was 100% misled by an absolute chode

Hi Everyone Wanted to share my experience dealing with joystick drift on my xbox controller.
So my original controller which came with the Series S started showing signs of joystick drift around 1 year after the purchase. Initially I bared it, but it became a pain when playing games such as overcooked 2.
Spending 5k more on buying a controller didn't seem to make a lot of sense since I had one more controller, the only issue was with couch co-op games.
So I first tried to call up local repair shops and they quoted me insanely high numbers to replace the joystick - roughly 2k. I live in Hyd, these prices might be lower in places such as Delhi.

I thought it should just be a simple soldering job and I ordered a soldering kit with this.
Then I started, and oh my, it was a really scary experience.
So the difference between soldering normally, and removing solders made by hand is generally very easy. But in things such as the controller, the soldering is done using automated machines on the PCB.
Removing these solders is not possible using normal soldering guns you might have for hobbies etc. They require significantly more heat to remove.
So yeah, I spent a long time trying to heat and remove the solder to no avail, the PCB almost changed a bit of it's colour, and I was like I have anyways messed this up.
Then I started exploring more on youtube to see more simpler techniques, there were techniques around just breaking the potentiometers/joystick instead of the solder, and then just move it back and forth to break the solder.
I thought I'll do this on the whole joystick, but just doing it on one of the potentiometers was too much effort and scary. Scary in terms of breaking the whole thing up.
Then I ended up only breaking 1 potentiometer (the front-back one which had the drift) and then replacing it with a potentiometer from the one I had purchased. After much more effort and abusing the PVC very badly with heat, solder and the hole from where I removed the older potentiometer, it looked like a complete mess. I was worried if it would even turn on.
Luckily after few minor adjustments, the joystick was working perfectly. I can honestly say, I felt super happy!
Fast forward to 2months since this, now the joystick has a different kind of problem, where it randomly gets stuck in top direction, hopefully might be fixable with minor tweaks.

I laughed because there would never be a time we would do that until after our high school aged kids graduate, so that was really crazy he even thought that was a good idea or timeline. I told him all I care about is that he put EFFORT into it, that it is special and meaningful. In my brain, it was obvious, on the waterfront where we met by our house would be a great easy and free idea.
This last weekend was our 12th anniversary. I had hopes I guess but I'm so used to it not happening that I really did not think he was going to propose. More backstory: he is not a planner whatsoever. The Proposal We had planned that Saturday night in Vegas we would go out for our anniversary dinner. But of course the planning was left to me. I was like hey look, you can go up to the viewing deck, then I was like oh nvm you have to buy a ticket and everything. We walked back to the hotel, he wanted to get froyo so we got that and went back to the hotel. As I am about to sit down to eat my froyo, bro says "I've been trying to do this all day" or something like that and then says will you marry me, and gives me the ring. Of course I said yes but I said a lot of "you're messing with me" at first because I thought it was a joke until I saw the ring.
It took everything within me that night to not cry and not ruin the one engagement night I will ever have. Since then, I have been filled with sadness, resentment and it's just triggering me a lot about things I already get upset about in our relationship like how I'm always disappointed if he doesn't do something or does it badly IMO. I've told him very nicely about all of this and he feels terrible. I don't want to be mean to him, I know he was nervous but he planned NOTHING. He told me that his "driving force was the element of surprise". Girl what? So he chose to wing it in order for me to be surprised after 12 years rather than put thought, effort and planning to do something special or sentimental. Would have been nice to have at least a single picture as well but whatever. I think this is hitting me so hard because it's such an indication of a bigger problem that I already feel. I'm not ever going to leave him over it but I don't know how to stop resenting him for this. How did he go from "Paris or Italy" to hotel room? Lol. Also, my ring is nothing like we discussed. Beautiful ring but it's falling off my finger, the setting for the center stone is about 3/4 inch high for what reason I have no idea so it just adds to how I already feel, can this man do anything without me?

So my pool is old (1980's?) and has 5 different cracks in it. I got my normal pool guy to give me a quote. The pool is (I think) 15' by 30'. Quote was $12K without any fancy finish. Hi Everyone Wanted to share my experience dealing with joystick drift on my xbox controller.
So my original controller which came with the Series S started showing signs of joystick drift around 1 year after the purchase. Initially I bared it, but it became a pain when playing games such as overcooked 2.
Spending 5k more on buying a controller didn't seem to make a lot of sense since I had one more controller, the only issue was with couch co-op games.
So I first tried to call up local repair shops and they quoted me insanely high numbers to replace the joystick - roughly 2k. I live in Hyd, these prices might be lower in places such as Delhi.

I thought it should just be a simple soldering job and I ordered a soldering kit with this.
Then I started, and oh my, it was a really scary experience.
So the difference between soldering normally, and removing solders made by hand is generally very easy. But in things such as the controller, the soldering is done using automated machines on the PCB.
Removing these solders is not possible using normal soldering guns you might have for hobbies etc. They require significantly more heat to remove.
So yeah, I spent a long time trying to heat and remove the solder to no avail, the PCB almost changed a bit of it's colour, and I was like I have anyways messed this up.
Then I started exploring more on youtube to see more simpler techniques, there were techniques around just breaking the potentiometers/joystick instead of the solder, and then just move it back and forth to break the solder.
I thought I'll do this on the whole joystick, but just doing it on one of the potentiometers was too much effort and scary. Scary in terms of breaking the whole thing up.
Then I ended up only breaking 1 potentiometer (the front-back one which had the drift) and then replacing it with a potentiometer from the one I had purchased. After much more effort and abusing the PVC very badly with heat, solder and the hole from where I removed the older potentiometer, it looked like a complete mess. I was worried if it would even turn on.
Luckily after few minor adjustments, the joystick was working perfectly. I can honestly say, I felt super happy!
Fast forward to 2months since this, now the joystick has a different kind of problem, where it randomly gets stuck in top direction, hopefully might be fixable with minor tweaks.

As the title states, we're planning a bus trip with a group of friends for our 25th wedding anniversary. We're traveling from London, Ontario, to Toronto on a limousine bus, catching a Jays game, and we're picking up the tab. As you can imagine, it's already an expensive day, so I was wondering if there is a cost-efficient limousine tour or beer tour (or something completely different, and if it helps, we're all under the age of 50) that we can also eat at before heading back home.
