Nukes are a hoax. Don’t let decades of Illuminati programming fool you
The following documentary explores the surprisingly abundant evidence that nuclear weapons are a hoax.
https://www.nytimes.com/1945/11/03/archives/seversky-limits-atom-bomb-power-likens-hiroshima-blow-to-one-by-200.html
This man actually analysed the city of Hiroshima after the act and testified the following:
"In Hiroshima I was prepared for radically different sights. But, to my surprise, Hiroshima looked exactly like all the other burned-out cities in Japan. There was a familiar pink blot, about two miles in diameter. It was dotted with charred trees and telephone poles. Only one of the cities twenty bridges was down. Hiroshima’s clusters of modern buildings in the downtown section stood upright.
It was obvious that the blast could not have been so powerful as we had been led to believe. It was extensive blast rather than intensive.
I had heard of buildings instantly consumed by unprecedented heat. Yet here I saw the buildings structurally intact, and what is more, topped by undamaged flag poles, lightning rods, painted railings, air raid precaution signs and other comparatively fragile objects.
At the T-bridge, the aiming point for the atomic bomb, I looked for the “bald spot” where everything presumably had been vaporized in the twinkling of an eye. It wasn’t there or anywhere else. I could find no traces of unusual phenomena.
What I did see was in substance a replica of Yokohama or Osaka, or the Tokyo suburbs – the familiar residue of an area of wood and brick houses razed by uncontrollable fire. Everywhere I saw the trunks of charred and leafless trees, burned and unburned chunks of wood. The fire had been intense enough to bend and twist steel girders and to melt glass until it ran like lava – just as in other Japanese cities.
The concrete buildings nearest to the centre of explosion, some only a few blocks from the heart of the atom blast, showed no structural damage. Even cornices, canopies and delicate exterior decorations were intact. Window glass was shattered, of course, but single-panel frames held firm; only window frames of two or more panels were bent and buckled. The blast impact therefore could not have been unusual."

I’ve been to both Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
The whole thing is propaganda. There isn’t a trace of residual radiation anywhere in either city. I checked using a Geiger counter purchased after the “Fukushima” nuclear hoax, which at the time I thought was real.
The few bits of footage of the nukes exploding is laughable. It’s Hollywood effects, matte screens and identical mushroom clouds composited for different angles. Totally fake.
There is a reason these magical super weapons have never been used for an act of “terrorism” or in any war zone since and it has nothing to do with mutually assured destruction, unless you take that to mean the global unravelling of the lie itself.
It’s because nukes don’t exist, have never existed and cannot be made to work. They are a myth.
While looking for info on how "feasible" an all out thermonuclear war scenario was, because I already figured that nuclear weapons are a joke and a remnant way of thought from the Cold War era of thinking, I stumbled upon this massive article about the supposed Nuclear Weapons hoax.
Some highlights of it, after skimming through it last night include:
  • Nuclear weapons are a result of a collusion between USA/USSR (With Stalin keeping the East of Europe to remain a "threat" to the west) and Japan with many other countries joining later.
  • Explaining the impossibility of making an Atomic bomb work in the first place, and why it cannot possibly produce radiation that can cause harm to any biological matter, including humans.
  • The Hiroshima and Nagasaki "atomic bombs" were most likely faked: No nuclear bombs were detonated, Napalm carpet bombings were used instead, and nobody died from radiation. It also explains how could a lie like that be kept in Japan for 60+ years and shows plenty of photos from ground zero.
  • "(...)Nuclear radiation is harmless. It is just easy to detect by Geiger meters, etc, but cannot harm anything. Only uranium and plutonium metal dusts are poisonous."
  • Clearing misconceptions related to the Fukushima 2011 incident
  • Explaining why the B61 nuclear bombs are a fraud.
  • A timeline showcasing the USA-North Korea talks from 2017 and 2018 and explaining why they were only done to put on a show, because, it is very likely that North Korea, does not have any in the first place.
And many other stuff.

The destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki appear not to be the result of one large explosion, but rather the result of a fire-bombing campaign comparable in pictures to Tokyo's fire-bombed remains. Hiroshima and Nagasaki also never experienced anything like the hundreds or thousands of years of radiation predicted by nuclear scientists, in fact, vegetation began growing within a month after the bombing, and the Japanese people began rebuilding almost immediately!
Some nuclear physicists even claim nuclear weaponry fraudulent based solely on the technical impossibilities of fission material not to be incinerated before triggering the necessary nuclear chain reaction.
Tesla even famously tried to split the atom him self and came to the conclusion it didn't release energy:
"Let me say that has nothing to do with releasing so-called atomic energy. There is no such energy in the sense usually meant. With my currents, using pressures as high as 15,000,000 volts, the highest ever used, I have split atoms — but no energy was released. I confess that before I made this experiment I was in some fear. I said to my assistants, ‘I do not know what will happen. If the conclusions of certain scientists are right, the release of energy from the splitting of an atom may mean an explosion which would wreck our apparatus and perhaps kill someone. Is that understood?’
My assistants urged me to perform the experiment and I did so. I shattered atoms again and again. But no appreciable energy was released."
This was from an interview he did with time magazine back in 1931 so it made me wonder if these anti nuke guys were on to something. The government has a lot of reasons to create a weapon of mass destruction psyop it spreads fear porn thats one thing and convinces people they can cause nuclear armageddon at the flick of a button. Einstein as some people know tried to steal Tesla's spotlight putting him into obscurity but his technology and experiments were very peculiar and show us there's a lot of high strangeness about this reality that's still not well understood.
Also In 1986, Galen Winsor a Nuclear physicist Exposed the Nuclear fear scam by licking a pile of highly radioactive uranium off the palm of his hand and ignite a chunk of plutonium into a shower of flaming dust to show how safe these materials were. The guy also drank reactor cooling pool water for fun and liked to go swimming in the pool to relax.

2024.05.14 19:44 diedlord Is record collecting dead?

I mean collecting the more rare stuff and original presses.
I stepped away from the hobby for about a year, and it seems like things have gotten so extreme there's no going back. There are so many records I wish I bought when they weren't nearly as expensive as they are today (think city pop, underground italo/deep house, classic rock, boogie, rare groove). I know before it used to be a bargain hunting hobby, but now it just seems like a price gouging fest. It makes me really sad because I can never afford some of the records I love most, that or I can't justify paying that much without feeling like a complete idiot.
For context, I started collecting in earnest in 2011, however I didn't really get serious till...2019. It seems that was the beginning of the end already.
I feel also like there are SO MANY collectors/sellers/DJs who are extremely overprotective over their taste/selections, it really depresses me. The best music I've heard always came from DJs, musicians who are just brilliant selectors, but it feels hopeless now. The industry is so toxic, there's no hope to even hear the best of the best anymore. I mourn all the music I haven't discovered because I'm not a "too cool" social climber. Can we just share the best of the best?
I accept that prices on the best of the best may never come down, but at the very least I still want to hear the best.
Over the years, I may add those final pieces I want, but they will be rare splurges as additions. In general, I'm moving onto CDs. Dirt cheap, extremely strong audio quality, and way less hassle.
What do you think? Anyone else feel this way? Will this crazy market crash? It seems to be stagnating a bit.
Edit: A lot of people seem to think I mean the hobby in general, when at the top I specifically referred to original pressings and rare stuff. Obviously people who want to dig will still dig and people who want to buy new stuff will still do so. I’m talking about the old way of extremely high quality pressings, rare and great music being found and sold for relatively low prices.

2024.05.14 19:23 persephoneelise Bipolar schizoaffective… any thoughts/experiences with work from home jobs?

I finally got a diagnosis! I’ve had symptoms (including hallucinations and psychotic episodes, as well as depressive/manic episodes) since I was around 12, but my former psychiatrist refused to diagnose me with anything other than depression because I was “too young for SZ or bipolar”. Now at 20, I finally went to a psychiatrist after avoiding it for years due to paranoia.
I was just offered a work from home position that would start in a month. My current job barely pays the bills and this one would start at nearly double my current salary. It seems like a great opportunity, but I’ve been having a lot of episodes lately (which prompted the psychiatrist visit), and my friends have said they worry I could become a shut-in and spending time alone may worsen the delusions.
Does anyone else currently WFH or have in the past? And if so, what were your experiences regarding your SZ or SZA hallucinations/delusions?
I was also put on Seroquel, Buspar, and Lamictal and would appreciate any feedback you guys have regarding those your experiences on those medications. It’s only been 5 days so far and all I’ve noticed is drowsiness from the seroquel, but I take it at night and it helps with my insomnia.

Sound Like ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION Pt.2: Kensuke Kita (2024 version)

Introduction

Kensuke Kita performing live, 2017
^(\This article is an updated version of my "Sound Like" article from 2021. I have reposted this article due to difficulties editing the original version*, and have included additional information and recommendations based on the increased popularity of amp simulator pedals*)*
Hello fellow musicians and Ajikan fans!
I have been a fan of ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION for roughly 16 years and as a guitarist was greatly inspired by the band's alt rock sound.
After a few years of research I have written a series of "sound like" articles for ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION. The purpose of these articles is to provide context on how the band create their signature sound, and to support beginning musicians or tribute acts who may wish to replicate it.
At the end of each article I have drafted a Budget Rig, which you could use for both at home and in a live environment. I have also provided some general amp settings to tweak and try, which are based on the band's live sound and be can used to help replicate their tones.
This is a 3-part series and if you enjoy this article I would recommend checking out the other articles:

To help you recognise the individual guitar tones, Gotch's guitar parts are normally panned to the left earphone and Kita's are panned to the right earphone on the band's albums. (On 2016's Sol-Fa, Hometown and some of the Planet Folks singles the panning was swapped, with Gotch instead in the right ear and Kita on the left)

Kensuke Kita

Kita during the Hometown UK/FR tour 2019
In this article we are focusing on lead guitarist and backing vocalist Kensuke Kita. Responsible for many of the band's iconic melodies and riffs, Kita's rig setup is a classic rock setup: A Gibson Les Paul into a Marshall-esque amp.
Inspired by 90's alt rock and Brit Pop groups such as Supergrass, Blur, Manic Street Preachers and Radiohead, Kita has constantly evolved as a musician and became more involved with the song writing process from Fanclub onwards. (Kita has writing credits on Blue Train)
This evolution can be seen clearly when you compare the punk rock style of Houkai Amplifier with the more experimental, pop inspired Planet Folks. While the earlier records reflected a focus on riffs and octave chord melodies, Kita now prefers playing major and minor third chords, triad chords and arpeggios, reflecting his "melody-maker" role in the band.
A triad chord is a chord made of 3 separate notes. They are commonly played on the higher strings and Kita uses them a lot, in tracks such as Aru Machi no Gunjou, Sayonara Lost Generation and Gekkou. Major and Minor third chords are sometimes referred to as Dyads.
During live performances Kita will experiment with ambient tones, but remains the lead guitar sound, with Gotch acting as a anchor for the overall band.

GUITARS

Kita's primary guitar is a Gibson Les Paul. You want to capture the power and sustain of the humbucker pickups, so single coils will generally not work. Furthermore, I would not recommend active pickups, such as EMG pickups, and to avoid anything that creates too much gain. Remember, Kita sound is rooted in a traditional rock setup.
His most recognisable and iconic guitar is his Historic Collection 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue. Kita bought the 59's reissue in 2004 and has been a mainstay ever since, using it on every Ajikan album from Fanclub onwards.
Kita's Historic Collection 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue
Kita's backup guitar is a Historic Collection 1958 Les Paul Standard Reissue, which is also used for Eb/D# standard tuning for songs such as After Dark, Yoru No Call and Empathy. Kita's other standout guitar is his Gibson ES-335, which is used occasionally for songs with a capo.
A good example of this would be the live performance of Natsu no Hi, Zanzou from the 10th Anniversary shows and live performances of Juuni Shinhou no Yuukei and Maigo Inu to Ame no Beat.
Kita has also experimented with Fender Telecasters, Jazzmasters and Stratocasters on the band's albums, although neither have been seen on stage so far. In a interview with Guitar Magazine, Kita confirmed that he used a Fender Jazzmaster on Empathy.
Kita with his Gibson ES-335, during the Quarter Century Tour
If you are looking to capture Kita's guitar sound, a Les Paul style guitar with vintage sounding pickups would be the best place to start.
Between 2002-2007, Kita armed his Les Pauls with Gibson Burstbucker 2 in the bridge position and the Burstbucker 1 in the neck position. Since 2007, Kita has used Custombuckers in both positions. Like Gotch, Kita uses Tortex Flex picks and are most likely .73mm or .88mm variants

AMPLIFIERS

In the band's early years of success, Kita used a Marshall JCM 900-4100 head with a Marshall 1960A cabinet. In late 2005, Kita replaced the Marshall amp with the Bogner Ecstasy 101b and Bogner 4x12 Cabinet, which he has used ever since as his main live amplifier.
Kita's JCM900 amp, used during the early 2000's and Sol-Fa 2004 tour
The Bogner has 3 channel settings, with the "green" channel based on traditional Vox amp, the "blue" channel based on a Marshall JCM800 & Marshall Plexi and the "Red" channel as a higher drive channel. The Bogner also has a boost feature that Kita uses for solos.
Both the JCM900 and Ecstasy amps are based on vintage Marshall sounds, whereas the modern Marshall amps have a darker, more compressed sound.
Between 2000-2011 Kita would only use the Marshall or Bogner stack for live performances and simply switch between the amp channels. In 2012, Kita introduced the Shinos Luck 6V combo to his live setup.
The Shinos amps were set up by a former VOX Chief engineer and in general has a blend of Fender and Vox amps sound wise. They have also been compared to Matchless amps, which Kita has used occasionally on international tours.
Kita's Bogner Ecstasy 101b and Shinos Luck V6
Kita has experimented with more amplifiers in the studio and has been known to use JCM800's, VOX and Matchless amps on albums, but for the purpose of this article we will keep the focus on matching his vintage Marshall & Bogner tone.
Kita's clean sound can be heard on Angou No Waltz, Mustang and Yuugure no Aka, while his distorted sound can be heard on Standard, Re:Re: and Kouya wo Aruke.
Kita used 4x12 Greenback speakers in his Marshall cabinet (this was 2004 sound & since 2005 he has likely use Celestion Vintage 30 speakers. The Shino is likely set up with a Celestion Classic Lead 80 speaker.)

PEDALS

Alongside the amp pairing, Kita uses a wide variety of pedals that has only grown in recent years. Previously, Kita stuck to a small collection of pedals which included a delay pedal and a preamp pedal.
Kita's 2004 pedalboard, used during the Sol-Fa tour
This collection has since rapidly grown, but has generally included a compressor, phaser, wah and a delay.
During the Eizo Sakushin Shu Vol. 6 performance, where he used a Boss DD-20 Giga Delay, an MXR M-132 Super Comp, Boss PH-2 Super Phaser, a Guyatone WR3 Wah Rocker and VoxV847 Wah pedal. Kita also used a BOSS TR-2 Tremolo at this time.
Kita's 2009 Pedalboard, which was used during the Eizo Sakushin Shu Vol. 6 performance
The Super Comp is used as a boost for lead melodies and solos, and the Super Phaser can be heard in performances of Mustang and Shinkokyuu. The Giga Delay can be heard in tracks such as Night Diving, Re:Re: and Mugen Glider, as well as the band's ambient jams. The Wah Rocker can be heard in Kugenuma Surf & Enoshima Escar
Since 2010 Kita's pedal board has gradually evolved to include more delay & modulation effects. (Such as the Boss Harmonist and BOSS MD-200 Modulation) He has also used fuzz and distortion pedals from time to time. For example, he has added the BOSS Tone Bender and Earthquaker Transmisser for ambient noises between tracks.
In recent years, Kita has also used octave pedals for lead parts (which recreates what the guitarist plays but at a higher or lower pitch), such as Blood Circulator, Boys & Girls and Clock Work. The Electro Harmonix POG2, which can be seen on his current rig below, is used for the intro of Kakato de Ai o Uchinarase.
Kita's current 2022 Pedalboard: (1) FREE THE TONE/JB-41S (Junction Box) (2) Jim Dunlop/535Q Crybaby Multi-Wah (Wow Pedal) (3) Custom Audio Japan/RS 616 (Programmable Switcher) (4)MXSuper Comp (Compressor) (5) Electro-Harmonix/POG2 (Octave) (6) BOSS/TB-2W (Fuzz) (7)EarthQuaker Devices/Transmisser (Modulation/Reverb) (8) strymon/ZELZAH (multi-phaser) (9) BOSS/MD-200 (multi-modulation) (10)(11) BOSS/DD-20 (multi-delay) (12) BOSS/FRV-1 (reverb) (13) Electro-Harmonix/FREEZE (sustainer)(14) BOSS/FS-5U (foot switch) (15) BOSS/TU-2s (tuner) (16) RJM/Amp Gizmo (amplifier channel switcher) (17) FIREGLOW/PPS-05 (power supply) (18) Vital Audio/VA-08 Mk-II (Power Supply)
To help manage his massive pedalboard on stage, Kita has been using a Custom Audio Switcher to control his pedals, which also allows him to create "loops" of saved settings for each song. I've included a list of his pedals from the current board on the picture below.
The guitar runs into the Junction box (top right) and wah pedal before going into the switcher. Kita can control the Comp and reverb from the switcher, along with the amp settings.
The guitar line then runs from the Dyna Comp through the rest of the pedals, which are controlled in separate loops by the switcher, before running into an amp switcher for the Bogner and Shinos. You can see these loops below:
Loop 1: Dyna Comp Loop 2: Dyna Comp, POG 2, Tone Bender, Transmisser Loop 3: Dyna Comp, Zelzah Loop 4: Dyna Comp, BOSS MD-200 (using the tremolo effect) Loop 5: Dyna Comp, 2x BOSS DD-20s Loop 6: Dyna Comp, 63' Fender Reverb
Kita has a few additional pedals on the board, such as the Electro Harmonix Freeze, which can hold a note for a sustained amount of time and a separate BOSS footswitch to tap in a count for his delay sound.
While this may seem complicated (and it is!) bear in mind that many of the pedals are to recreate certain sounds from the band's 10 albums, or to allow Kita to experiment during live performances.
You do not need to build a pedalboard this big to sound like Kita.
Instead, I would focus on Kita's main pedals, which include the MXR Super Comp, his two Boss DD-20 Giga Delay pedals, the Dunlop535Q Crybaby Multi-Wah, the Strymon ZELZAH (phase) and BOSS MD-200. (phase/auto-wah/tremolo)

Sound Like Kita ...On a Budget

Kita, Quarter Century tour, 2022
To buy Kita's current rig would cost thousands of pounds (the 59' Les Paul alone could be worth £5,000) so much like the Gotch's post we have a few more affordable options that could get you close. The idea is to create a rig that can be used at home or in small venues to perform live.
Also bear in mind that information provided are based on Kita's Live setup, which is aimed at finding a medium between all of the sounds formed on the albums. Please also note that these are personal suggestions as a fan and if you find that works better for you, then great!
The main areas to consider are:
  • A 50's inspired Les Paul
  • A Boutique Marshall style amp
  • A compressor pedal
  • A Delay pedal and Multi-effect pedals
GUITAR
In terms of guitar options there are plenty of Les Paul copies, but for look and sound Epiphone is a no-brainer. The Epiphone 1959 Les Paul Standard is the newer, more expensive option but is based on the 59' Les Paul model, much like Kita's main guitar. You can buy one for around £749.
Epiphone 1959 Les Paul Standard
The more affordable option is the Epiphone Les Paul Standard '50s, which is also a solid pick and goes for around £500.
AMPLIFIER
In terms of affordable amps, Bogner have recently released the Ecstasy Mini 30W Head which costs around £349. You would need a speaker to plug the head into, this solid-state amp would get you close to Kita's sound and could be used for gigging with a big enough speaker.
Bogner Ecstasy Mini 30W Head
You could also try out the Marshall MG50 and Marshall Origin amps as affordable Marshall amps with a classic sound, closer to the JCM900/Bogner style.
Another approach you could take would be to use the Bogner Ecstasy pedals, which are pedals designed to emulate the Bogner Ecstasy amps. (Please bear in mind that you would need to tweak the settings more to work with the amp you use)
The BOSS Katana series and Blackstar amps (which have a dial to set a more British sound) have Marshall-esque settings and could also work, but would require more tweaking.
PEDALS
There are a wide variety of pedals to choose from, but to keep the pedal suggestions simple but versatile. Because of its importance to Kita's sound, I would recommend the MXR Super Comp.
MXR Super Comp
A great example of how this would sound can be on tako wasa YouTube channel, who demonstrated the pedal on this live stream. (tako also has a solid pedal board that is worth taking inspiration from!) An alternative approach would be to buy a Booster pedal to create the same effect, such as the Xotic EP-3 Boost
A delay pedal is also must for a sound like rig (Especially those keen to play the Re:Re: 2016 intro) and so the recommendation would be a Boss DD Delay pedals. The DD-6 or DD-8 are more affordable options that can definitely do the job, while the DD-200 gives you a more versatile option and the ability to save pre-sets for different tracks.
Boss DD-8
Cheaper alternatives that you could also consider are the Tone City Tape Machine and the TC Electronic Flashback 2 Mini, which are both good options for the price.
Another pedal for Kita's sound to consider would be a Wah pedal. As the Dunlop535Q Crybaby is quite a steep price for casual players, so I would recommend the Vox 845 Wah Wah Pedal. At £69 its considerably cheaper than the Dunlop535Q and should get close to Kita's original Wah sound.
Finally, we are going to focus on the modulation sounds for Kita, and ultimately this is down to preference and what songs you would like to emulate.
BOSS MD-200
If you wanted to have a mix of sounds, the BOSS MD-200, which Kita uses, covers many of the sounds he uses, including the phaser, auto-Wah and tremolo sounds.
For more specific roles, the BOSS PH-3 Phase Shifter will get you close to his original phase sound (try to avoid the Phase 90 style pedals for Kita's sound), while the BOSS Harmonist or a different Octave pedal would help capture some of his lead tones for the current era.
You could also consider a reverb pedal if you want to capture some of the ambient sounds Kita creates live or if the amp you choose doesn't include reverb.
AMP SIMULATOR PEDAL OPTIONS?
The final option to consider would be a Amp Simulator pedal. This type of pedal has become increasingly popular in the last few years and would be used in place of a traditional amp and effect pedals. You would then use the Amp Simulator with a IR Cabinet (a powered cabinet speaker) or with a Power Amp in between the Amp Simulator and a traditional cabinet.
They can be fairly expensive to buy and I would only advise buying one if you do intend to move on from your traditional amp/pedal setup, however the Quad Cortex DSP & Headrush Pedalboard would be good starting points. They are both aimed at capturing more traditionally hi gain amps such as the Bogner and Marshall amps, so should be able to do a good job at capturing Kita's sound.

Recommended Amp Settings

The following amp settings were based on photos from live performances and you should bear in mind that the volume may be quite loud for home use, so I would suggest bringing it down. Also bear in mind that every musician and amp will slightly differ so you may need to tweak with your settings to find the right blend.
My personal advice is to keep the gain around the middle and to use the volume to crunch up the sound. Kita does use a cabinet, so you may need to add more low end for a combo amp, and again bear in mind that the volume may need to be lower for home use.
Shino Luck V6:
Vol: 5, Treble: 5, Middle: 5, Bass: 3.5, Master: 3.5, Boost: 7, Level: 4
Bogner Green Setting:
Presence A: 8.5, Presence B: 8, Vol. 1: 5, Treble: 4:5, Mid: 4, Gain 1: 5.5
Bogner Blue Setting:
Vol. 2: 5.5, Vol. 3: 5.5, Treble: 5, Middle: 5/5.5, Bass: 5, Gain 2: 4.5, Gain 3: 5.5

Conclusion

2024.05.14 19:08 Frequent-Ad-264 MSA C & R settlement proposal with CAREGUARD as an administrator

So, I hoped I was coming into the home stretch. But I find myself in a heads you lose, tails you lose sort of predicament. I previously posted about the attorney wanting me to attend a Zoom meeting with the insurance company attorney about the MSA. Apparently the Zoom meeting was held with the two opposing attorneys and two representatives from "CAREGUARD" about the MSA. The attorneys did attend and were given a presentation about CAREGUARD and what they do, by two representatives from this MSA administrator (a financial company). My attorney told me that he spent time, maybe 30 minutes, listening to the presentation by the representatives. He said he fought very hard to get the other side to agree with a lump sum, but they simply will not consider that. He also told me he was very impressed with the representatives from the MSA administration company.
When he told me about this presentation, I got a sinking feeling. I have attended many sales meetings in my career and it is pretty clear to me that this is a product being sold to the attorneys and the insurance company. Not to me and not for my benefit. I was tempted to ask him if they gave him some pens or something to be so enthusiastic about them. If I want to exit the WC system and be in charge of my own care, this is my only option, I am being told. I told the attorney, I would agree with this today, if I got to select the MSA administrator, he did not respond to that . I never asked for a lump sum.
It is very strange that they would spend this time to present this product. What they do, according to their flyer is give you a card and tell you to give it to the provider and it is like an insurance card. They distribute the funds, they get billed by the provider. You can go to any provider. So I am doing some research and I called some providers to see if they accept this arrangement. However, it is essentially hypothetical until I am signed up with the "service". Some places seem to accept this, but I won't know for sure until I agree to this arrangement. At that point I am stuck and if there are any bumps I will be out of luck for getting any care. The funds have to be depleted before I can use Medicare. At that point I would have to probably switch doctors because the billing will change from providers that accept this to Medicare providers. Oh so messy.
I have multiple concerns; 1. If they don't pay, or don't pay quickly enough, am I going to have to pay out of pocket? That is being reported by a number of people. 2. They have a provider network - which is weird. They say you can go to any doctor, but then they have this network. Why? 3. The provider can charge very high rates because they are going by WC prices, not Medicare prices. How can I avoid this? 4. If I move to another state or live outside of the US what happens to the funds? Can it follow me to another area for use for treatment of the injury? 5. They seem to take their time reporting funds depletion to Medicare. And they have to report it. Apparently, they would not take a report from me (with documentation), it would have to be from the MSA company. Is that correct? 6. What happens to those funds if they are not fully depleted, in say 5 or 10 years? If the reports I read from people using this system are true, there may be millions of dollars sitting in banks, who oversees this and how?
I have emailed the company and asked them if there is anyone I can contact or speak to about my specific situation. Honestly, this appears to me to be a ridiculous additional layer in our system that is designed to prevent individuals from receiving care and enriching 3rd parties for filling out forms. Some have reported that the company earns a percentage of the interest in the MSA account. The suggestion is that they are motivated to leave the funds in the account for their financial benefit. These are some of the experiences I found reported from others about this system and this company:
https://www.sitejabber.com/reviews/careguard.com#reviews
https://www.bbb.org/us/ma/burlington/profile/healthcare-management/ametros-0021-463074/customer-reviews
My attorney will not give me anything in writing about the settlement until I have agreed to it. He gave me a flyer from CAREGUARD, but no specifics about the settlement that I would be agreeing to. So I can't find out the details and how exactly this will work. I intend to ask him again, but I do not typically get a response when I ask them things in writing. So not holding out much hope for learning more. I do know what my option if I don't agree to the settlement. I think I also have the option of dismissing the attorney. Has anyone done that and how did it work out?
Tl/DR Anyone have experience with this company that they would be willing to share? How can I avoid the bad experience other people seem to have had (if I agree to the settlement)?

2024.05.14 19:05 Outrageous-Rub-3889 Tesla lawsuit for items listed on Etsy (but never sold)

I'm hoping the Reddit community can help me with something...
Back at the very beginning of the Covid Pandemic here in the UK, I started creating digital illustrations of cars. One of the first I did was of a Tesla Cybertruck which I added to an online Etsy store along with illustrations of other cars (not Teslas).
The Tesla Cybertruck illustration interested no one and I received zero orders for it so made no money from sales. However, a few weeks ago I received a very official-looking email from a legal firm based in Miami, Florida detailing a lawsuit that had been brought against my Etsy store on behalf of Tesla Inc. for copyright infringement.
I used no Tesla logos, fonts etc, just the words 'Tesla' & 'Cybertruck'.
I live in the UK, the lawsuit is filed in Florida so I don't know if judgements can be enforced anyway? Also, in terms of my Etsy store, I couldn't care less about it. In truth, I'd love to delete it and I'm happy to never sell a print again.
I've spoken with several lawyers here in the UK, none of which can help. I've since spoken with a USA-based attorney who is happy to take on my case but wants an upfront retainer of $7,500 and can't be sure if that will be enough to cover the time it may take to get this case dismissed. Seems outrageous when you consider I've made NO money from sales of this particular illustration!

2024.05.14 19:04 bigbezoar Interesting development in the Papini divorce proceedings/trial

I don't know what it means, but a recent development seems a little odd to me. Maybe someone with legal expertise can comment. It is kind of mundane & puzzling, so I hope someone can shed light.
Keith first filed for the divorce two years ago (April 15, 2022) - https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/21716869-papini-divorce-filing?sidebar=false
At that time he had retained attorneys Swartz and Jones of Redding, CA. But, even though the divorce was granted a year ago ( https://www.reddit.com/thepapinis/comments/14ivqmw/the_papini_divorce_becomes_final/ ),
... as the case regarding child custody & property settlement dragged on and on and is apparently unsettled and heading for trial... Suddenly, Keith petitions to change lawyers on May7, 2024 with a "Substitution of Attorney" request. So, now he has retained family law attorneys Manuel, Conard Manuel and Tescher ( https://www.kmanuellaw.com/about-us ).
They held a "Trial Readiness Conference" yesterday, May 13, 2024, and now the next hearing is June 3, to rule on some order for "Modification" of what the proposed settlement is. The date has not yet been set for a trial.
But why would he switch lawyers two years into this case? She still has the same lawyer as she started with in 2022. - https://vankinney.com/
(ps- this case is in Shasta County civil court and is not directly connected to Sherri's criminal case in federal court in which she was convicted and sent to prison, if that helps with searching for past records or info.)

2024.05.14 19:00 burning2018 Windfall came in and I’m at a loss (figuratively)

I recently won a settlement and have some money coming in, roughly $75k. This is will be the most money I have ever had, by a lot. Apart from my Roth I have never invested before. I only make $40k a year before taxes, and my work isn’t always consistent. I want something with low risk that is somewhat passive. I have a small piece of land I inherited, and I may want to invest some of the money into building a little house on it to boost land value, but that’s a couple years off, and I want to find a way to maximize (or at least not lose) the money while I wait for that time.
The things I’ve been looking into:
-Vanguard and fidelity money market funds
-SOFi/ALLY HYSA
-T-bills
-local credit uniting offering 5% interest when starting account with 10k or more (I’ve read that smaller entities advertising big rates aren’t the most reliable long term)
I feel I understand the difference between all of these, but wondering if it would be best to split up the money into different types of accounts with different entities? Or for someone like me does it make sense to just put it all in a hysa and just wait.
Tl;dr: I don’t make much money, never have, never invested before, suddenly find myself with 75k and I want to know if it’s smart to split up my investments, or if it’s ok to put it all into a hysa for the sake of convenience.
I have no one in my life who knows about these things so anything helps :)

The Eras Tour Follies
https://preview.redd.it/28c8z9ly9f0d1.png?width=1700&format=png&auto=webp&s=51f46e163c20eaeea227b730063811f444e1d930

The Folly of it all: a Revue

Folly, from the French folie, means madness, extravagance, foolishness, lunacy. It has two dominant uses. One is madness or craziness as in folie a deux (a delusion shared by two people). The other meaning of folly is a musical revue, developed in Paris in the late 1800s at the Folies Bergere.
Revue in French means “magazine,” and the musical revue is meant to be the performance version of reading a magazine. A crucial part of the revue, cabaret, burlesque, or variety-show style of entertainment is the inclusion of commentary on current events, often satirical or parody. The Eras Tour provides a retrospective - a review, if you will - of Taylor Swift’s musical catalog. It tells several stories. And with the inclusion of The Tortured Poets Department set, it now also provides clear satirical commentary on Swift’s own story. It is not by accident that the TTPD set was added to the Eras Tour in Paris, the birthplace of the revue.
The initial concept for the musical revue at Folies Bergere centered on women and dance, but was not overtly sexual. American choreographer Loie Fuller, whose serpentine dance style Taylor Swift honored with the Dress performance on the Reputation tour, worked at the early Folies Bergere. Fuller also fought for artists’ control of their own work and lost a legal battle to copyright her choreography. She was also a lesbian.
You look like Loie Fuller in this light
However, revue overlapped and blended with cabaret, burlesque, variety, and vaudeville into the early 20th century. Elaborate staging and “small nude women” became the hallmark of the Folies Bergere under director Paul Derval; the Moulin Rouge was a contemporaneous music hall with a more sexual nature, and the American Ziegfeld Follies - inspired by Bergere - were known for their chorus girls.
The opening of the Eras Tour, with dancers using massive billowing seashell-shaped fabric and sunrise-like lighting, is a callback to Loie Fuller’s choreography style, as are the billowing Folklore dresses. It ends with the Midnights set, including the Vigilante Shit burlesque-style dance using cabaret chairs. Both the endcaps of the Eras Tour are intentionally choreographed Follies.

Bejeweled & Burlesque

American neo-burlesque, as championed by Dita Von Teese and others, seeks to reclaim burlesque as an art form for self-expression of sexuality rather than for consumption.
Among other hints, the music video for Bejeweled - released a week before the Eras Tour was announced - featured many Easter eggs per Taylor Swift herself. In that video, Dita Von Teese, with her iconic martini glass, teaches Taylor's character neoburlesque dance. Speaking to Out magazine of working with Swift, Von Teese said, “She knew everything about what I do and about burlesque.”
The background for Taylor’s own burlesque show in the Bejeweled video is a pink, purple, and gold sky very much like the opening of the Eras tour, and scallops line the floor. Taylor is sitting on the clock that was in the Mastermind lyrics video.
Clockwise from top left: (1) Bejeweled burlesque opening shot; (2) Eras Tour opening; (3) did I mention Loie Fuller was a lesbian who lived in Paris?; (4) what if I told you none of it was accidental?
As the dance unfolds, Taylor is surrounded by dancers holding fans and then lying on the ground encircling her in a kaleidoscope-like starburst, both images that appear in the TTPD set. She touches the clock to make it disappear as the light turns blue, and rainbow lights on the dancers encircle her, reminiscent of her dancers and backup singers in the Karma performance at the end of the Eras tour.
Rainbows and dancers and kaleidoscopes. Go Chiefs!

The Eras Tour: Taylor Swift Follies

As the dancers open each Eras Tour performance, orange, pink, and purple Loie Fuller-esque fabric billows. “It’s been a long time coming…” Swift’s disembodied voice sings, a reference to the years since her last tour, but I think also referencing also Fuller’s - and Swift’s - fights for artists to own their work. This performance will be a retrospective, but it’s a retrospective of a catalog that Swift does not yet fully own. It may also be a reference to a coming-out.
Swift bursts out of the billowing scalloped fabric, a shimmering musical goddess arising fully formed at an ever-ascendant peak, reminiscent of Venus, the goddess of love and sex - and also of victory and prosperity.
She then performs a magnificent three and a half hour retrospective of her work. But we need some kind of social commentary, parody, or satire to make this concept work. And what about the other meaning of folly?
Welcome to Female Rage: The Musical.
The Tortured Poets Department set is a spectacle. In stark white and black, it leans into the asylum aesthetic of Fortnight, and it is nonetheless the most over-the-top visual experience of the entire concert. The Tortured Poets Department album contains heavy themes of Swift navigating her fame (which I won’t explore much here), and the Eras Tour set is no different. The visuals represent an asylum, a high school pep rally, zombie horror, an alien abduction, war, and finally a Vaudeville-esque representation of The Eras Tour itself, in which a doll-like Swift performs an onstage costume change, reanimates and then proceeds to perform I Can Do It With A Broken Heart, a song as upbeat as it is seething about performing the Eras tour while depressed, mirrors reflecting the audience as they confront the decision whether to sing along to the line “All the pieces of me shattered as the crowd was chanting ‘more!’”
Have they come to take me awaaaaaay?
The allure of the folly was audience participation. Follies were madness because the audience became part of the story, swept up in it, performers surrounding them and transforming the entire venue to the stage. There was no fourth wall. Any modern concert will include audience participation, but Swift is a master at engaging her audience in a way that no other pop star is - and here, she tells us, it is perhaps to her own personal undoing. Are you not entertained?
Midnights is the final set of the Eras Tour, and Vigilante Shit is its climax. As she performs a burlesque dance, Swift sings “Ladies always rise above; ladies know what people want… the lady simply had enough…" "I don't dress for women / I don't dress for men / Lately I’ve been dressing for revenge / I don’t start shit, but I can tell you how it ends.”
Why is burlesque dance “dressing for revenge”? Perhaps because it is not burlesque but neoburlesque, which is done for self-empowerment. She's not "dressing" - performing - for others, she's doing it for her own reasons. Taylor Swift is reclaiming her own music - not only rerecording the masters, but in a broader sense too. TTPD lyrically expounds on this idea - Taylor Swift is making music for herself now. She started off making music for herself - she didn’t start this conflict - but she’s telling us how it ends, and it’s with her winning.
After Vigilante Shit, she stays in the same costume, with a segue into Bejeweled, and then Mastermind, finishing the concert with the lyric “I’m a mastermind” and immediately taking a bow.
See how the Bejeweled backdrop and the Midnights bodysuit look similar?
Karma, last on the set list, functions as a curtain call. Curtain call songs in musical theatre tend to summarize or reprise the story that the actors just told, coming back around**.** Karma is a song about Taylor Swift reclaiming her art, and so is the Eras Tour. Of course, Karma also being a possible lost album fits well with this.

What does all of this mean?

The Eras Tour is Taylor Swift’s neo-burlesque revue, it is her reclamation of her art, and it is the key to her claiming the key to her castle. As she performed this dance in the Bejeweled video, the countdown and her exile ended and the clock struck midnight.
We know with the countdown theme she's been doing, there's something coming that'll be "1" in the countdown. Re-recordings haven't counted so far, so I don't think it will be Rep TV or Debut unless they come with significant new material - such as Rep TV + Karma (which would be TS12) and then Debut + TS13. I have always thought Debut would come at the end of the Eras Tour, and with all of this analysis, I think that's likely to happen along with something that is a significant change for Taylor Swift.
I also think there might be something going on with the moon.
Whatever happens between now and the end of the Eras Tour, the clock will strike midnight, the performance will be over, and Taylor Swift will step into the dawn of a new era. We'll meet her at midnight.
Images from Bejeweled, Lavender Haze, Daylight lyric video, and the Eras Tour
P.S. The Bejeweled video also contained several easter eggs for Speak Now TV being the next re-recording. The music video for I Can See You, a Speak Now vault track, was released toward the beginning of the Eras tour. Joey King and Presley Cash, who were in the Mean video as children, were also in the I Can See You video. Taylor wrote on IG that she wanted them specifically. The video for “Mean” (2011) features Taylor Swift performing in a variety of music hall-style sets. Taylor spends most of the video playing banjo in a string band, and then transitions to a Broadway stage in a fringe dress, reminiscent of the Ziegfeld Follies era.
Joey broke the banjo when she used it as a weapon to save Taylor from the vault
Loie Fuller’s break into show business was playing banjo in a Buffalo Bill touring show, from which point she went to New York. For her breakout role in a New York theatre, critics reportedly said she could sing but she couldn’t dance - similar to Swift’s inspiration for the song Mean. Fuller went on to be one of the most influential figures in modern dance.

I was sent a retainer where the firm would be awarded 40% of the award amount, minus any fees associated with my case such as court fees, filing fees, administrative fees, etc. There is a provision in the "Termination" section, part D, that states they may terminate or withdraw from this agreement at anytime and, "other just cause exists ("Just Cause"), could be a reason why. There is also apparently no retainer fees associated with my case because they haven't mentioned any.
Does this mean that they can withdraw for any reason? What if they are about to lose and decide they would like to withdraw because of it so they would at least be paid the hourly rates as listed on the retainer for the time they spent on the case? Can anyone explain what "Just Cause" really means?
Here is the section from the retainer:
III. Termination.
This Agreement may be terminated by either of us at any time by written notice to
the other. The Firm normally does not withdraw from a representation except when: (a) a client
misrepresents or fails to disclose material facts to us; (b) a client fails to pay fees or expenses; (c)
a client makes it unethical or unreasonably difficult for us to continue representation; or (d) other
just cause exists (“Just Cause”). Just Cause may include your failure to accept a settlement proposal
that we believe is just and reasonable. Our evaluation of such a settlement proposal shall depend,
without limitation, on the combination of harm and financial losses suffered by you, the state of
applicable law, and the likelihood of prevailing in a formal legal action. If a legal action has been
filed on your behalf, we will seek permission to withdraw as your counsel as appropriate.
Termination of this Agreement shall then coincide with an appropriate court order for withdrawal.
Should you terminate this Agreement or should the Firm terminate this Agreement
for Just Cause before a final disposition is reached, the Firm will be entitled to attorneys’ fees
based on our Full Hourly Rates. If you elect to resolve your case without a monetary settlement
payment to you (i.e., if you are offered employment while waiving your claims), the Firm will be
entitled to attorneys’ fees based on our Reduced Hourly Rates. The Firm’s rates are:

Also, does anyone know around how much all the fees could total? filing fees, court fees, administrative fees, expert costs, depositions, travel, meals, local and long-distance telephone charges, electronic research charges (such as Lexis and Westlaw), copying, facsimiles, delivery service, and outside investigative services.
I live in NY and my case will be in NY. Also, is there any expenses listed there that are unusually and I should be worried about?

2024.05.14 18:11 AdInteresting2401 Controversial views and perceptions of the clinical picture of MCAS - Free university of Berlin

2.3.5 Controversial views and perceptions of the clinical picture of MCAS
2.3.5.1 Alternative diagnostic criteria ("Consensus-2")
In 2011, the group of authors led by Gerald Molderings from the Institute for Human Genetics at the University Hospital Bonn and Lawrence Afrin published their own approach to the diagnosis of MCAS (51). In contrast to the diagnostic criteria of Valent et al. (1), the focus here is more on clinical symptoms. In 2016, Afrin et al. published a list of the most common symptoms that could indicate MCAS (52). Furthermore a questionnaire was developed and published on a website (53), after the answers to which the suspected diagnosis of MCAS could be supported or ruled out depending on the scores obtained. In a recently published publication, the working group referred to their diagnostic criteria as "Consensus-2" and compared and discussed them with the criteria of Valent et al. from 2016 (so-called "Consensus-1") (51). An important difference to the criteria Valent et al. 2016, the authors consider the symptoms not only as the main main criterion, but also a much wider range of previously unexplained symptoms (111 unexplained symptoms (111 possible symptoms (44)) as the most important indication of a a mast cell-mediated cause (14 symptoms in Valent et al. (1)). As The diagnosis of MCAS is considered confirmed if the main criterion is present together with a secondary criterion and possible alternative diagnoses have been excluded. The secondary criteria, in turn, are based on observations made at the time of the 500 people with suspected MCAS at the time of the first publication (44). Further differences between the two consensuses can be found in the laboratory parameters to be determined. For example, the researchers from different disciplines, which according to their own statements can draw on a wealth of experience of of over 10,000 MCAS patients (diagnosed according to their own criteria, nota bene), consider CgA to be specific for mast cells in addition to tryptase, among other things (44). The counterargument of the lower specificity compared to serum tryptase is granted a certain validity in the addendum to the "Consensus-2" published in 2020 (44), however the differential diagnoses with elevated CgA values should be easy to rule out and other markers are also never 100% specific. However, another group was already able to show in 2017 that CgA should not be used as a marker for mast cell disease(49). Furthermore the group of authors of the "Consensus-2" counts heparin as an important marker for MCAS, which should be determined after venous congestion using a blood pressure cuff (54). This maneuver was reported to cause irritation of excessively activatable mast cells with release of heparin in the congested area. Interestingly, the following section mentions markers such as IL-6 or tumor necrosis factor (TNF) which, due to their lack of specificity, are not used in diagnostics, but only in the evaluation of a successful therapy. The authors of "Consensus-2" criticize "Consensus-1" for, among other things the lack of definitions for a treatment response, whereby the "Consensus-2 does not provide any concrete proposals for evaluating or monitoring the response to therapy. Another point of criticism is the lack of exclusion of other comorbidities or differential diagnoses, such as CFS, EDS and irritable bowel syndrome, as clinical indications of MCAS. [...] In return, the AAAAI expressly points out that there is no evidence to date of a connection between CFS or EDS and MCAS. Overall, the clinical picture of MCAS is so complex and heterogeneous that a precise definition of a diagnostic algorithm is not possible at the present time. Molderings et al. therefore propose the acceptance of both the "Consensus1" according to Valent et al. and their "Consensus-2" until more precise findings are available through research. The resulting disadvantages, such as the the poorer comparability of patient populations in scientific studies would weigh less heavily than those resulting from the rejection of "Consensus-2" (an underdiagnosis due to criteria that are too restrictive according to the authors). On the other hand, the large number of non-specific complaints that are supposedly associated with MCAS harbors the risk of inflationary diagnosis.
2.3.5.2 Presentation in the lay press
An expansion of the MCAS definition with the use of non-validated clinical and laboratory chemical parameters for diagnosis is frequently found in the lay media, above all on websites, but also in the specialist literature. Increasingly, patients with (suspected) MCAS are organizing themselves with commitment and are increasingly organizing themselves into interest groups such as MCAS Hope e.V., which campaigns for the recognition of MCAS "as an independent disease". In addition They also network those affected and their relatives and carry out public relations work, which aims to make the clinical picture known to a broader public. This expansion of the diagnostic criteria described above increases the risk of a misdiagnosis of MCAS and overlooking the underlying disease, which may be easily treatable. On the other hand, such an erroneous diagnosis can also lead to the use of unnecessary or potentially harmful therapies for MCAS and supposed comorbidities (20). Shortly after publication of the review paper "Doctor, I Think I Am Suffering from MCAS: Differential Diagnosis and Separating Facts from Fiction" by Valent et al. a self claimed affected person started an online petition in which she demands the authors and the publishing Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology to remove the article (55). Among other things, they criticize the criterion of the tryptase increase, which is too harsh and would therefore prevent many patients from being diagnosed. The clinic also does not typically manifest as anaphylaxis, contrary to what is described in the paper, since mediator release in anaphylactic degranulation differs from that in piecemeal degranulation. Finally, the author of the petition, who sees herself as a "patient spokesperson", reports on personal experiences of frustration and feelings of frustration and rejection that were conveyed to her by doctors in the course of her medical history. The petition has so far reached just under 3,000 of the targeted 5,000 digital signatures (as of December 2020) and shows in particular how emotional the issue of the topic of MCAS is being observed and discussed not only in professional circles, but also among patients. Apparently, some patients find the diagnosis of MCAS to be the last explanation for their multiple non-specific symptoms and hope for more acceptance in scientific circles.
2.3.5.3 Difficulties in making a diagnosis
In recent years, despite the existence of consensus criteria, a (suspected) diagnosis is often made in practice, even though these criteria are insufficiently fulfilled. In some cases, the MCAS diagnosis is also increasingly used for otherwise inexplicable conditions that cannot otherwise be explained. The evaluation of symptoms without a known direct connection with the release of mast cell mediators, for example from the neurological or psychiatric spectrum, as a manifestation of the disease leads to a further dilution of the MCAS diagnosis (43). In the "Bonn" questionnaire, the vast majority of the items asked are not based on the consensus criteria formulated by Valent et al. for example they see the sonographic evidence of an enlarged liver as an indication of the disease (53). The measurement of a tryptase elevation in acute relapse, as required by the diagnostic criteria is difficult to implement in practice, whether for reasons of time, capacity or billing. Targeted therapy trials with maximum specificity with regard to all possible decisive mediators are not possible without prior measurement of urinary metabolites and, in the absence of criteria or measuring instruments often do not produce satisfactory results (43). Last but not least, the wide range of possible differential diagnoses, such as for example from the endocrinological, neurological, psychiatric or cardiovascular area, further complicates the diagnosis (43).

For those that like to try and claim Invictus Games as William or the Royal foundation work
Invictus Games was never William or the royal foundation work. In Spare Harry detailed how he get funds outside the royal foundation because when he came up with the Idea and wanted to use funds from the royal foundation, William said no.
So Harry sought funds outside the royal foundation- He created Endeavors Funds in 2012, basically Endeavor Funds was supposed to be Harry's projects for grants to wounded, injured and sick former service personnel.

https://uk.style.yahoo.com/prince-harry-endeavour-fund-moved-from-royal-foundation-163847888.html
The lies that William and Kate gave Invictus Games money from their settlement from the Sun papers is so funny, because using common sense, William/Kate household were already split, we only knew of William settlement thanks to Harry's lawsuit against the Sun and the amount was never disclosed by the way.
Endeavour Funds was still under the Royal Foundation, when Harry and Meghan left the UK, so did Harry's project, Sentebale, HeadFit, Harry's share of The Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund donation to Sentebale.

The money that was transferred from the Royal Foundation was the money, Harry had raised under Endeavour Funds
"We are delighted to announce that the Endeavour Fund has been transferred across from The Royal Foundation and into the work of the Invictus Games Foundation. The Endeavour Fund will continue to support the ambitions of wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans but will now expand its activities across the international Invictus community.
The Endeavour Fund was established by The Duke of Sussex in 2012 when he was patron of The Royal Foundation. Since the time of its inception, the Endeavour Fund has granted over £3,000,000 across over 100 endeavour activities that have supported over 6,000 wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans (WIS) to re-engage with sport or adventurous challenge after sustaining injury or falling ill during their time in the military. This includes being responsible for establishing and funding the original Invictus Games in 2014, and this transfer now presents an exciting opportunity for both organisations to further their support for international members of the WIS community."
https://royalfoundation.com/endeavour-fund-transferred-to-the-invictus-games-foundation
And from the Invictus Foundation
The Invictus Games London 2014 was coordinated and supported by the Royal Foundation, out of which the Invictus Games Foundation was born. The Endeavour Fund was also curated by the Royal Foundation, but in 2020, was transferred across to the Invictus Games Foundation.
It was misreported at the time that the Royal Foundation had 'gifted' £500k to the Invictus Games Foundation. The transfer amount we disclosed in 2021 actually reflects the move of the Endeavour Fund grants programme out of the Royal Foundation and into the Invictus Games Foundation, to create one home for supporting the recovery of international wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women.

Also in the Royal Foundation Financial report 2021- notes their financial report is for the year prior not current year

Note as well Harry created HeadFit in association with UK Ministry of Defense in 2017 and then William and Kate tried to claim credit for it by filing a trademark on HeadFit that was 2020

2024.05.14 18:00 Questioning-Warrior Is it plausible to have an offensive army leader prohibit harming defenseless people even during a siege (even going as far as to punish his men who torment others)? Are there historical references of such leaders who tried to minimize collateral damage even when pushed to their limit?

I do wonder if it's plausible to write a leader (generals, monarchs, who ever is in charge) of an invading army who is absolutely against needless torment and harm towards the defenseless.
I've been considering about a backstory for my world where an army leader strived to be a lesser evil even when he had to undergo sieges. He would order his men to not harm peasants or anyone who wasn't fighting back (i.e. they are huddling, begging for their lives, etc.) and instead capture them. If he were to catch or be reported about a soldier hurting a harmless civilian, he would punish them severely after the battle (even more so if that soldier did something even more horrific like SA or killing children). He only accepts killing those who are still trying to fight for their territory (as even armed and armored warriors can still be harmed by common folk, making this somewhat in self-defense in a way). The only people he reserves extreme punishment for not surrendering are the rulers who made the decision to fight. Of course, he can't prevent all misdeeds from happening as he obviously can't see everywhere, not all of his men or any eyewitnesses can be truthful in their reports, etc. But he still strives to minimize horrific torment even when pushed to his limit as well as serve as an example for others to have some level of honor even when pushed to their limit, a sentiment that still persists in my world's present day (as in the medieval or renaissance present day). Or who knows? I may write a story about him at some point. I'm just brainstorming.
Again, I know this still isn't very heroic as invading a population to conquer is not a nice thing. There is no getting around the fact that conquering is dirty business. Now granted, invaders do offer mercy if their opponents surrender. But obviously, many rulers choose to stand their ground. As a result, sieges happen. Throughout history (even to this day), invaders who manage to successfully get into a territory proceed to lay unspeakable horrors upon the inhabitants. Granted, one defense I read is that it does serve as a tactic to discourage other settlements from resisting. Still, this is a horrific subject that costs people's humanity (not to mention, citizens such as peasants weren't capable to choosing to surrender. That largely fell onto the higher ups).
I just wonder if it's plausible to write an army leader who prohibits his men from doing horrific crimes instead of it being a necessary evil. I'm especially curious of there were such leaders in history who strived to minimalize torment and brutality even when they are conquering by force.
EDIT: maybe it doesn't have to be limited to just one army leader. Perhaps my area's ruler imposes this sense of honor towards his people and all of his armies.
Sorry for my long post.

2024.05.14 17:56 Affectionate_You_671 Never signed any papers, what could my employer do if I left?

I have been working part time as a personal trainer for nearly 4 years. The people I work for in that time and that own the business have been some of the nastiest, verbally abusive, and petty people I have ever known. They lie to clients, steal money, and are just down right scum. The only reason I have stayed is because I love my clients. They make the awfulness better and I have personally become friends outside of this job with many of them. But recently the owners went on a business trip and asked me to be on site for over a week (no extra compensation mind you) and make sure there were no issues, and to watch the small retail shop where they sell supplements and other things.
Well they just got back this weekend and since they have been back I have been bombarded with the nastiest messages about stupid things (like there was a spider in the window and someone left a waterbottle in the bathroom. One such message was a threat about inventory because "the stock of supplements better add up or else.") This is just how they are...
So I'm deciding to quit and move on. I have an opportunity to continue my work at my home (it is small and I don't have all the equipment I need, but it would work.) Or our biggest competitor down the street has asked for me to join them for years but I refused because "it would really anger my current employer."
Either way I'm leaving, but I want to have my bases covered. In my time working here I have been the longest tenured employee. I have seen about nine trainers leave (most of them have been rage quitting over the owners and the way they were treated.) But every single one of them has cautioned me that when I leave the owners will try to ruin me. One trainer was accused of stealing and had a police report filed, and they didn't steal anything. The other was threatened that if they did not delete all their clients off of Facebook there would be consequences. These people are sue happy and have about six active lawsuits over the smallest thing while I've been here. Not to mention the say derogatory stuff and spread rumors about the trainers that left with current clients.
I know me leaving will push clients to leave also. Most no doubt will follow me to wherever I end up. And I'm expecting my employers to come after me big time since I've been here so long and have made a big impact on generating business. I have never signed anything for them, no non compete, no paperwork, nothing. But I fear they may try to spin it and forge my signature or say I stole equipment. It is just a mess, but I am done being bullied by them because I very much cared for this business at first and made every effort for them to be successful, but it's time to leave.
What should I do before I quit? Should I have a lawyer on standby? What legally can they do to me? They have nothing from what I can see. All the other former employees got out of the business because they were so scared of them and what they could do.
