There was a radio announcement saying that the holy relic of Prophet Muhammad had been stolen from the Hazratbal shrine. This was a big shock. There was silence for quite some time in my home.
The radio was switched off and my grandmother, looking at the sky awash with flying burnt black paper, said, ‘What has happened is not good. Something terrible is going to take place.’ The distant noises of the mobs were still audible, and nobody knew what was going to happen.
The next day, all kinds of rumours spread — that the holy relic had already reached Pakistan; that some local politician had managed to steal it in order to overthrow the present Jammu and Kashmir government; and that it was a conspiracy to start a communal riot in the Valley, which would then spread all over India and create a chaotic situation in the subcontinent.
Some said that the relic had been taken by some influential person with the intention of showing it to some very eminent person before he passed away, as a blessing to him. All kinds of rumours circulated, and no one had any clue as to who had planted them all.
The situation deteriorated further, and curfew was imposed in certain parts of Srinagar. The shutdown continued for many days, and daily amenities grew scarce. People started hoarding articles for their day-to-day needs. The civil administration had completely collapsed, and people had taken administration into their own hands. Every morning, young volunteers from the Action Committee rode around on open tongas [horse-drawn vehicle], stopping at various crossings to shout ‘Hoshiyar, khabardar’ and announce the rates of each item, like sugar, salt, rice and oil.
These rates were binding on every citizen and every shopkeeper. Anyone who did not comply with these orders would have to face the punishment of the Action Committee, which had come up suddenly due to public reaction. This body was formed, headed and led by well-known religious personalities. These kinds of announcements would happen many times during the day.
Sometimes they were sprinkled with instructions to the general public to behave like brothers with each other. If anyone needed anything, the people of the area were to rise to the occasion and cooperate and support that individual. There were clear instructions to the people to maintain communal harmony and brotherhood with those of other faiths. Kashmir became a shining example of communal amity during these days of grief.
Within a few days, the peasantry from the countryside descended into the city of Srinagar, coming in thousands from all parts of the Valley, to mourn the theft of the Holy Relic. All roads and lanes were filled with ordinary village folk. The landscape of Srinagar City changed. There were community kitchens organised on all the main roads of the city.
Called susras and supported by different localities, these kitchens were part of an old tradition in Kashmir that brings the Kashmiri brotherhood to the fore. Most of the time, susras provide yellow rice, an auspicious grain for all Kashmiris, and with it, warm water for the people in the winter.
Every day, lakhs of people marched in planned processions from one end of the city to another, simultaneously with other processions in other parts of the Valley. These processions carried black flags and green flags as marks of mourning, sacrilege and fury.
Apart from normal Islamic slogans, there would be slogans about Hindu, Muslim and Sikh unity. All through the night, mosques recited Quranic verses for the thousands of people from the countryside who had come and camped in the city.
The mosques became shelters for these visitors by night, as it was a chilly winter and had snowed a few days back. I used to move freely within the city those days and see those thousands of village folks occupying nearly the whole city. The scenes were like those one sees in Russian documentaries showing the days of the Bolshevik Revolution when the peasantry marched into the city of Moscow to see for themselves the change after the czars’ rule.
Hushed conversations speculated on how events could suddenly take a turn and bring violence against minorities. There were rumours about communal riots and killings in Dhaka, then a part of East Pakistan, as a response to the happenings in Kashmir.
However, even when this news reached Kashmir, there was no adverse response among the public. The Kashmiri Pandit community responded to this loss of the Holy Relic by organising a procession in solidarity with the Muslims.
The march began from my mohalla at the Sheetal Nath grounds, the epicentre of Kashmiri Pandit politics. Some of us young teenagers were tasked with leading the procession and shouting slogans. I loved doing this. A couple of thousand Pandits joined this important procession as a mark of solidarity with our Kashmiri Muslim brothers. This procession moved slowly with a few black flags and a solitary saffron flag in the lead.
When we crossed into the Muslim localities there was a surprise, even disbelief. We were shouting slogans like ‘Marenge ek saath, jiyenge ek saath [We will die together, we will live together]’; ‘Moye-Muqaddas Pak ko wapas karo aye zalimon [Return Moye-Muqaddas to us, O tormentors]’; and ‘Hindu Muslim ittehad, zindabad, zindabad [Long live union of Hindus and Muslims]’. The moment we reached Habba Kadal, we saw that a community kitchen had already sprung up on the roadside. There the Muslim volunteers, moved upon seeing us, came with warm water and yellow rice to feed us.
Some of the elders blessed us. I remember some men with moist eyes hugging us. After a small break, the procession moved on towards the downtown area where we were very encouraged by the response. People came from the mosques to watch our procession and lined up along the road. At one point, as we raised slogans, all the people on the roadside joined in.
On reaching Khanaka-i-Moulla, near the Shah Hamdan Shrine, I saw women watching us from their windows with their hands raised in prayer to the Almighty. One could see that this procession had glued the two communities closer in their mutual sharing of pain. A little further on, an elderly Muslim gentleman got so emotional and excited when he saw our procession that he screamed ‘Naara-e-Takbeer!’
Our whole procession responded, ‘Allah-hu-Akbar!’ The poor man couldn’t believe his ears and did not know how to respond, but he kept walking with us until some point near Navid Kadal, where he left us.
We moved on and entered the area of Mirwaiz. Pandits used to call this area Pakistan, but I don’t know why. For Pandits, entering this area was like walking into enemy territory, probably because of unfounded suspicions formed over the years. This time our procession had no fear. Here again, we were stopped by people and offered warm water as the chill in the air had grown very bitter.
Thousands of Muslims from all walks of life watched us in silence, but in their eyes, one could see the message: ‘We appreciate and respect this gesture of yours.’ In the late evening, when I reached home, I saw my grandmother, who had worried about me all day. All her four sons and their families had reached home, except me. When I entered the home, all were waiting for me. There was a long silence, and I felt the weight of it.
Finally, my grandmother asked me, ‘What did you do all day?’ When I started narrating my story, she cut me short and asked my mother to give me some food as I must be hungry and tired. After finishing my dinner, I bid goodnight to my grandmother, and she blessed me…
She used to wake me up at four in the morning by banging her walking stick against the ceiling of her room on the ground floor. My bedroom was right upstairs. I had to reply with bangs on the floor back, confirming that I had woken up to study. Immediately after waking up, I would make tea for her and myself. I would come down with her cup of tea, and only then would she be satisfied that I was really up.
After that, I had to rush and get pure milk from the traditional milkman. Grandma had an ulcer, which used to give her acute pain, and the doctor had advised her to take a lot of cold milk for it. And I, as a good grandson, took on the responsibility of getting up very early in the morning to fetch the milk for her. It was after all this that I would finally settle in at about five in the darkness of the winter months to study.
That day, when I took leave of her, she said, ‘From tomorrow, you will start your serious studies, and if you follow what I ask you to do, then I will give you five rupees to watch a talkie…’
At about seven [while returning], when it was still very dark because it was winter, I suddenly heard my father scream, ‘Lightning has fallen!’ He screamed again, ‘She’s gone!’ The family members, now alerted, were all at her bedside. Yes, Benjagari, my grandmother, had left us forever.

So first of hello guys! I found this subreddit over my boyfriend as he has been a huge help with this decision and my removery process (hes an angel) I have been a tattoo artist for 2 years but in February my whole life crumbled down. I felt so secure in my job as an artist, I was at uni next to working half time as an artist. I loved it and at the same time I have gotten quite a lot of tattoos as my coworkers (professional artists) did them very cheap and often spontaneous. (i think you can tell where this is going) In February I got a tattoo down my spine and lets just say this: my boss totally messed up. I will provide photos after my 2. laser session but off right now I am way too insecure to show it. It was somehow a spiritual awakening as I finally realised how many tattoos I got and how FAST I got them with me being only 21. I don‘t hate all of them but I started to feel so heavily inked an no longer pretty. It‘s taken a hard toll on me BUT I left Uni, got a new job and from September on I start at a company I dreamed of working for years! So maybe there‘s sth good about this tattoo regret as well. I no longer tattoo tho as the studio gives me severe anxiety when I enter.
Opinion on this: I started on 19. of April with my Back and my knees. The technician is extremely friendly and realistic: she told me my back could be gone in 6 sessions as there is a lot of shading! Good news. Knees may take 8. now I start my arm and wrist parallel and she said the koi is gonna be a hard one with 10-12 sessions or more. How much do you think my arm will be? The Wolf will stay, I just wanna remove those heavy clouds and the dragon as they don’t resonate with me anymore. I wait 8-10 weeks between the back and knees. For the arm I wanna take breaks for 3 months in between so it doesn‘t ruin my quality of life. My coworkers are all really nice people but the decision to leave and respect my body more has been a huge mental game changer for me. I know I have a loooong way to go with probably 3 years until complete removal on my unwanted ink but hoping for the back to be very much lightened by the end of the year. I dread summer this year tho… sendin love to all of you who are struggling as well! And Ps.: the koi was a messed up cover up. I could cry daily because of how dark it is.

I have reservations about telling these following stories. My life has taught me that nothing at all comes from reminiscing about the “golden years” as it were. But I am now an old man, bereft of any use except what I can remember. I want you to understand the person writing this in order for you to grasp why you are getting this story, why you are getting it now, and why it holds an affect on me still. I am not easily frightened or overwhelmed. But the bizarre nature of these events My simple warning to any casual observer wishing to find entertainment is. I don’t have the answers to the questions and I don’t think I have enough time to find them anymore. Though frankly I don’t think I want them.
Part one

Then I saw a friend of mine, who I was sure drove me here, he was holding two full bottles of whiskey pointing the openings directly in his mouth. In the crowd around him was young and somewhat new actor client of mine Sawyer Thompson who was wearing black aviators indoors,(making me question whether I should work with him at all) the entire legal team for Pink Floyd, what could have possibly been Carter Jacobs or Lou Reed(I don’t know I was quite drunk), the guitarist from Deep Purple, Nancy Sinatra, and a dude dressed as Joey Ramone(he probably wasn’t) about 20 more packed around my chaotic friend as the last of the liquor slipped into his mouth. He raised both bottles above him towards the ceiling
“AAAaaaAaaAAAAAAHHHhhhHhhhhHhhHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!!” Is what I remember him screaming. Then he pelted a bottle into the wall behind him and it was pulverized into tiny bits. If this didn’t look the effects of simple alcohol to you, it’s because it wasn’t. Edward Stockton Williams was a stuntman and a slave to many things, Cocaine was one of them. At any time of his last 7-8 years of life he could very possibly have been arrested for the pure amount he had in his 1967 Volkswagen Beetle, stashed in little hidey-holes throughout the vehicle. He very possibly could be alive today if that hypothetical traffic stop ever took place. After he threw the first bottle he spotted me.
“HeeeEEY! BboBBBYy! cRAtcH DIS!” He yelled as his arm drew back
My eyes widened. Then he threw the bottle at me. I ducked and saw it sail over me, perfectly past multiple people you would think were of note, and then with a solid hit it took out this music producer from the east coast. Just like that. Silence except for that Bowie record.
“When the kids had killed the man”
“I had to break up the band”
He hit the ground, and of course, that’s when we heard the sirens coming.
“Some crotchety old fart trying to get sleep at 8:30pm called the fuckin’ cops” is what I thought. And then we ran. I don’t mean me, or me and Stockton, I mean ‘we’ as in the party. It must have been 50-80 people of varying sizes and shapes all on their feet moving as fast as possible through the building. I saw a man in an unbuttoned Hawaiian shirt attempt a dolphin dive through a window and he bounced off like a 210 lb beach ball. I crawled out a side window and found Stockton in his cocaine filled, dark red beetle the stereo was cranked up and he doing lines off the top of the dash “waiting for me”
“My Stars….”
“So far….”
“No one’s calling me home”
“mmhf” I mumbled.
I had thought that the night was winding down. Past a certain point at night, the moon disappears and before the sun begins appearing on the sky, there is an hour or two that are quiet and dark. This is when the night people rest. Even so, the night wasn’t over just yet. We pulled out into the street. The car was parked along the sidewalk far enough away from the house that was now a circus lit by red and blue. I had ran through the neighbors bushes and I have always been a smaller guy so no one saw me I guess. We drove up and down and along the hillside. Lesser men would be dazed by this and better men wouldn’t have driven in the delirious and spent condition we were in. Everything we said was just nonsense but it was also the funniest stuff ever spat out by humans. It wasn’t the worst of times and it was a quiet stretch of road. Not much around at all. When we saw the hitchhiker the question wasn’t “should we pick him up” it was “hEy Eddie is that… yOu know,” I said pointing. I thought he looked familiar, maybe an old client of mine. The radio was still on.
“There’s a killer on the road”
“His brain is squirming like a toad”

I wondered what he did long enough for him to enter the backseat and for Eddie to pull the small gasoline-drinking creature back into the street. I snapped out of it and Eddie asked what he did
“So, what do you do?”
“Well, what do you mean?” He said politely
“I mean job mister nineteen thirty-three, what do you do?” Eddie belched
“Well, I guess… I am a merchant” he said
“English” Eddie snapped
I mumbled audibly, “he sells stuff”
“Alright then, What do you sell”
“A little bit of everything” he smiled warmly. The man had a presence that worried me. He seemed polite enough I guess, but he had an aura that made me feel like any second something was going to happen. I brushed this off as the effect of the substances
“We haven’t caught your name yet” Eddie asked confrontationally,
“People call me lots of things” the man said,
“Like what, stranger” Eddie said
“What do you do for fun” I said quickly, this guy was extremely imposing in a completely non-physical way. Simply put, he made me very nervous and Eddie was too drunk to be capable of nervousness. So I alone had to maintain the peace in the now cramped Volkswagen Beetle.
“I like to collect things that I find” he responded with “I travel around and I collect something from wherever I go”
“Mmmmm” Eddie mumbled while squinting at the winding white lines
“That’s interesting I guess.” I said, in one sentence all of the tension was shattered. This man wasn’t mysteriously evil like I suspected he was just a weirdo. A bizarre artist type who came to L.A to make it big with his shitty music or paintings of fruit crying or some crap like that. I wasn’t scared anymore, I was just bored. All that and no payoff. What a scam. To clarify, I was wrong about this.
We entered a tunnel and everything went dark around us except for the desperate headlights of the car. Then the radio started getting weird, first it flashed in and out of connection with the station and then it started flying through the channels back and forth, back and forth, I spaced out for a second before I realized that it was saying something

Eddie swerved a little and slowed down. We were in the main drag of Hollywood. Cars all around as we pulled up to a packed four-way stop.
“How the hell did we get here?” I thought as I sat up and peered confusedly out of the window.
“Hey, um… Bobby my man, when did we start heading this way.” Eddie asked
“I don’t think we did.” I said
“Then how-“ as we were talking a Volkswagen Karmann Ghia with the top down shot past our right loudly playing the same station we were oddly enough
“Music is your ooonnllyy friend”
“Until the end”
The car entered the intersection and I noticed the kid in the car wasn't looking at the road, he was staring up, head back, his long brown hair in the wind, his aviators pointed directly at the empty night sky. He ramped off a divot in the road at the entrance to the intersection and
less than a moment later he punched the car into the side of a gasoline tanker truck that had the green light. The tanker was pushed so that the side that was hit lifted off the asphalt. And then, in the time it would take to take a single picture of the scene and immortalize that moment on film the tanker exploded into a fireball that rose into the sky killing the kid in the sports car, the truck driver, and two people I hadn’t met in a ford sedan were passing through the intersection in the opposite direction. The worst part was the image of the truck driver looking out his window and seeing what happened and watching as he does nothing to save himself, watching the silhouettes of the sedan people panic, watching the kid in the sports car lift his head in time to see fire jump at him consuming him, and worst of all seeing the bodies rapidly melt and fall apart in the fiery explosion. Then the windshield shattered, the car lurched back and as the suspension rebounded we got a good look at the aftermath. Eddie got out of the car. (to help I assume) I looked back and saw that the stranger was gone too. Fire was creeping up a tall building on the corner nearest to the explosion and the tanker was still a large bonfire. Despite this the fire department was there with ambulances faster than I expected possible and despite some minor injuries from glass shattering no one else was hurt majorly. The next day Eddie called me.
“Holy fiery shit Robert, do you remember what happened last night!?”
“Yep” I said “the important parts.”
“Well I don’t, but I’m looking at the tv right now-“ Faint noises were layered under his voice and I guess it was the tv.
“-And I’m thinking, what kinda bloodbath did you drag me to!?” He said more shocked than mad.
“I’m thinking about how you were driving and also what do you actually remember” I replied
“Mmmm, I remember getting to the party, I remember some of the party stuff, and I remember leaving in a hurry because of something, I remember we picked up a hitchhiker that pissed me off and I remember the radio acting up.” He said
“You really gotta pull back on the, ‘party stuff’ Eddie”
I said
He told me, “fuck you, mom.”
Then I told him I would talk to him later and I got ready for work. I had an appointment with someone that day. I walked in and I waited an hour or two at my desk reading a western novel about a bronco buster who broke his arm or something. I don't know I was really bored that day. After that hour or two I walked out of my office to ask my secretary what was going on.
“Hey, Ali, where is the guy?” I asked
She sighed heavily “What guy Robert?”
“Saaaaa- ammy t-t tom tom Thomas, Sammy Thomas, Sammy Thomas’s the name” I said confidently
“I don’t have anything under a Sammy Thomas, Robert.” Is what she said to me.
“Are you sure” she said looking at her ledger
“Mmmm hmmm”
“Oh shit.” she said, “Did you mean Sawyer Thompson?”
“OH YEAH” I yelled “That’s the name!”
“Robert he died, like last night too.”

Hi everyone,
I posted previously about Qantas losing our flight details. The TL;DR is that we booked flights that were cancelled in 2020, got a flight credit, tried to spend it again in 2021 to WA, Covid intervened again, tried for the third time for a trip to the Gold Coast this year and thought everything was fine only to be told when we arrived at the airport (after booking in hotels etc) that we didn't have confirmed tickets.
It's been a few months since then. That same day I sent Qantas a customer care complaint, and raised it with the consumer advocate, the ACA. I hoped that would be all it took, maybe with some waiting. I asked for all the money we had sent them to be repaid, and some consideration for compensation for the runaround.
Wow, was I wrong.
After getting no response from Qantas, I chased them up a couple of weeks later to see what their response was. I got a very helpful person from their call centre who told me that nothing had been set up in the background, but that he would get right on it and I should have the money within a week. Customer care, who had not contacted me, would let me know by that Saturday (3 days later) how things would proceed.
Well, after no contact and a week later, I called again. I got another, again very helpful sounding person who said that from where she was sitting, nothing was set up for our refund but she would get right on that and I should see the 1/3 amount of our flights (the leftover value after our latest booking) within 7 business days. She would have to process our original amount through their complex refunds team, and she said that she had to transfer it to another booking reference number. I should also get a response from customer care within 2-3 business days. Again, none of the above happened.
So where was our fearless advocate in all of this? I submitted a complaint to them when I submitted one to Qantas customer care. They closed the complaint immediately, saying that they can't do anything while Qantas' process is still underway. So I sent them a second complaint after more than a week had passed since my last phonecall with Qantas and there was still nothing even remotely resembling a refund. I said in my complaint that there was no timeframe given by Qantas for the completion of the complaint process, but given the deadlines that they had offered and then failed to meet, surely the advocate could step in at that point?
Nope, of course they couldn't. They said the process was still ongoing, but helpfully suggested that they would tell Qantas to get right on it.
"Get right on it" apparently means wait a month and then send a very terse-sounding phone operator to tell me that they were only giving me a partial refund.
I got told that I would get a refund for the 1/3 of the ticket amount that I had originally requested in December. I posted previously about Qantas losing our flight details. The TL;DR is that we booked flights that were cancelled in 2020, got a flight credit, tried to spend it again in 2021 to WA, Covid intervened again, tried for the third time for a trip to the Gold Coast this year and thought everything was fine only to be told when we arrived at the airport (after booking in hotels etc) that we didn't have confirmed tickets.
It's been a few months since then. That same day I sent Qantas a customer care complaint, and raised it with the consumer advocate, the ACA. I hoped that would be all it took, maybe with some waiting. I asked for all the money we had sent them to be repaid, and some consideration for compensation for the runaround.
Wow, was I wrong.
After getting no response from Qantas, I chased them up a couple of weeks later to see what their response was. I got a very helpful person from their call centre who told me that nothing had been set up in the background, but that he would get right on it and I should have the money within a week. Customer care, who had not contacted me, would let me know by that Saturday (3 days later) how things would proceed.
Well, after no contact and a week later, I called again. I got another, again very helpful sounding person who said that from where she was sitting, nothing was set up for our refund but she would get right on that and I should see the 1/3 amount of our flights (the leftover value after our latest booking) within 7 business days. She would have to process our original amount through their complex refunds team, and she said that she had to transfer it to another booking reference number. I should also get a response from customer care within 2-3 business days. Again, none of the above happened.
So where was our fearless advocate in all of this? I submitted a complaint to them when I submitted one to Qantas customer care. They closed the complaint immediately, saying that they can't do anything while Qantas' process is still underway. So I sent them a second complaint after more than a week had passed since my last phonecall with Qantas and there was still nothing even remotely resembling a refund. I said in my complaint that there was no timeframe given by Qantas for the completion of the complaint process, but given the deadlines that they had offered and then failed to meet, surely the advocate could step in at that point?
Nope, of course they couldn't. They said the process was still ongoing, but helpfully suggested that they would tell Qantas to get right on it.
"Get right on it" apparently means wait a month and then send a very terse-sounding phone operator to tell me that they were only giving me a partial refund.

Ya Mar contained an I Can't Turn You Loose tease from Page and funny stage banter as Trey tried to bring "Leo" in too early. Page teased Gimme Some Lovin' in Mound. Sanity was teased in Reba. Ok, so in theory it sounds great. People do what you tell them to. You can use it in conversation, you can use it in combat, except: it doesn't work on vampires. Well it works fine when they use it on you, but since generations are not implemented, it just goes based on age. And news flash, every single vampire in the game is older than you. But we rushed ahead of ourselves. Let's take it step by step:
Level 1: level 1 Dominate is actually pretty good, I would say. You can mesmerize guards on stealth missions who are tough, or impossible to sneak by otherwise; when you try to feed on the streets and there's always someone who can see your target, you can shut them down so you can feed in peace; in combat you can disable an enemy while you fight the others, or if you're fighting one, but your unarmed is rubbish, you can use this to be able to feed on them. In 10 seconds you can get a lot done, and all of this for a single blood point, pretty good deal to start off with. Well done, Dominate!
Level 2: I'll be frank, I only used this once, and then it was by accident. Also it didn't work, because the enemy immediately started running around like a headless chicken, bumped into me, and that broke the spell. But seriously, what is the use case for this? Maybe if you're hunted by cops and you want to sneak away from them? But then, they'd have to be pretty bunched up, since the area of effect is not that huge. If you're in a tight space you're screwed, since bumping into them seems to shut it down early, also if they start to run around like above...? Also I rarely ever trigger criminal violation. If I do, I usually still have time sneak away before the cops show up, or worst case just run away and hide somewhere. The cost of 2 blood points wouldn't be terrible in itself if it was a useful spell, but as it is, its uses are marginal at best. 5 xp spent so far.
Level 3: now we're cooking! They fall asleep for 20 seconds instead of 10! Ermm... what was it again that I needed this for that I couldn't do with Trance? Well, not much. If you're in combat, you can shut one enemy down for good, they won't wake up if you bump into them. Oh, wait! You cannot bump into them. They are lying on the floor. Well, it shoud be easy to grab their weapon then. If they acually dropped their weapon. They don't. Hmm... Let's be bad and kill them in their sleep. No dice bucko, you simply cannot attack a prone enemy, period. Well, you can with guns, but how bad is your aim really that you need to knock them unconscious to shoot them? All this for the low-low price of 2 blood points and 15 xp spent.
Moving on, Level 4: oh, how many times I cried out: "If only I could recruit a human to my side who lasts for like 2 hits before they drop dead!" I'll tell you right now, zilch. Oh, yes, a human. Maybe I forgot to point out for each one, but these powers don't work on supernaturals. If you're lucky, they maybe give them a pause for 1 second before they pull themselves together and proceed to pommel you to death. Costs 3 blood and 30 xp. Good times!
Level 5: this power is too terrible to mention... Okay, it gave me a chuckle, when like 7 humans bunched up in the Golden Temple and I got 5 of them with this. But the radius is still crap, most of the time you'll be lucky to get 2 at a time. And humans? You had the xp for this and you still need ways to fight humans? In fairness, it does like 40-50 damage to supernaturals as well, the same as a single shot from the Desert Eagle... You do the math. And you only had to expend one quarter of your total blood pool on the attack. Yay. As you can see, any fool can tell you it's well worth the 50 xp you had to spend on this.
And that about covers it. As for its uses in conversation, well, Persuasion is just superior. Again, you can't use it on vampires, and you'll likely have some points in Scholarship to read the skill books anyway. But if you want to "roleplay it" and spend twice the xp to get an inferior Persuade, then hey, all the power to you! For that amount I think it would be the very least that you could force all the blood dolls to "donate" to you. Or the vendors to give you a sizeable discount. They are all humans anyway. But as it stands, I'll just leave it at level 1, so that my discipline bar is not hard-pressed trying to contain all that raw, bottled up power that is Dominate.

For context, I (23f) met him (24m) in late October. In January he decided he was moving out of state (not required by his work, he just wanted a change and to be closer to friends). We were undefined and exclusive for the duration of our dating. After he broke the news of his decision, we were on-again off-again, up until the day he left.
I called him drunk one night and the next morning I texted that I wished I never met him. He responded with "interesting take," but I blocked him before I could see it. We didn't talk for 2 weeks, then I reached out with an apology for what I said. He said he was back in town for a conference and asked to meet up for coffee. At first I said no I'm busy. The next day I had a change of plans and we met up. We had a great time catching up. When he flew back we were chatting on and off, with arguments in between. Lots of unresolved feelings.
We would sext sometimes, but then I got angry that he brought up sex every day. The next day we didn't talk about sex. The day after he sexted someone else. He told me about it because it didn't go well, to say the least. Two days later he casually called me while we both went about our business. We were chatting, having a good time laughing until he brought up the idea that we are friends. I was like okay I guess we're having the "what are we" convo now. I know it might come off desperate, but I have no shame if I can get a semblance of understanding or closure. I'm still deeply hurt and never felt a romantic heartbreak like this before. I don't feel strong enough to cut ties and have been dealing with feeling overwhelmed for the past 5 days. His sudden delays in response feel like drug withdrawals and it's contributing to my mental health. Is the draft text reasonable to send?? Or better to try to let it go. I'm at a loss. Honestly this feels very dramatic of me but our last text convo is so weird and I want answers.

I am not looking for pity or anything. I really try to stay as positive as I can when the universe is trying to mess with me.
3 years ago I got separated from my ex due to fertility issues. Its a long story. Also during that time I was getting bullied at work. I took time off work to work on my mental health from the bullying. I went to therapy, did several congnitive behavioral therapy courses. Repeated the courses. Decided not to return to the job because they wouldn't put the medical recommendations in place. They tried to force me back by taking away my vacation and taking away my medical leave pay. I finally got funds from employment insurance! Took a long time.
Things were looking up! I started my own business with a friend. A huge pay cut, but I was happy and enjoying life! Again!
January 2024, I decided I am finally ready to date again, only to have dislocated my knee 2 weeks later. At first my mental health was okay. I was happy, I was optimistic. I was working from home! After my 6 week check up I was hopeful to hear when my surgery would be. It was crushing to hear to just come back in 6 weeks for another check up. Maybe around the 8 week mark I started getting depressed. Worried that at the next check in, still no news about surgery. Worried I won't be able to walk normal again. Worried my foot drop wouldn't heal! It was a rough few weeks. I kept dragging myself out of bed and working (not necessarily in the am). Finally told my business partner I might need to take a leave of absense after tax season because this was too much to handle. And anywhere else I would be on leave.
Her response was that she was leaving the company effective May 1st! I guess so she could take our clients to her other company. I begged her to wait until after tax season. Offered other options. Prior to this our communication broke down when she let a competitor work in my area. I felt like the one good thing I had going for me (work) was being taken away. That is actually when the depression started. I didn't handle this decision well, I admit that.
Since my Drs appointment April 11th, I was finally put on the surgery list. They won't say how long, but I think it could be 7 to 9 more months. Just knowing that put me in a better headspace. I was doing even more work to meet her May 1st departure. Having no choice. The appointment I had last Tuesday didn't go well. My dr missed sending me for a nerve test 3 months ago. They need me to come back in 6 weeks...and they said the surgery has to happen within 6 months. So after the second test I would have 1 month to do the surgery...or I couldn't. I was furious at my dr!!!! I was made at the universe. But I didn't sink into a depression. I kept working on my clients files. Tried to get refereed to a bigger city to get the second test sooner! Still waiting to hear back.
I worked this weekend and got as much work done before my business partner's departure. She doesn't seem to be handling my injury well. But I can't legally drive! I can't have my knee bent for long. She said she can't wait to see what happens with my knee! But I told her I have no choice its all I can do!!!!
I have a meeting with a lawyer on Wednesday to see if I can stop her from taking clients. I get she is frustrated by my injury. She feels her workload went up. I explained to her how it hasn't based on last year. Her workload increased due to an employee at her other company suing her for age discrimination...and she didn't replace that person due to the lawsuit. I understand our argument over her allowing a competitor to come in my space was it for her. She feels I didn't handle it well. I feel like she doesn't understand the impact to our business. I stopped communicating with her on a personal friends level when this happpend and with other friends. She can't separate the business from the personal. I continued to communicate about clients.
So sometimes it feels like the universe is messing with me. You work through one thing, improve yourself, find something that brings you joy...and then due to an accident its being ripped away again.
I can run the business without her. I gotta take some courses.
I keep telling myself this injury is happening because the universe needs me to sit still. Needs me to grow. Needs me to change.
Sometimes I am lonelier in this group. Terrible conversation is worse than being alone. Being told I am not lonely because I was married. Because I can socialize. Because we aren't the same. I explain my injury...then accused of saying my life is worse than theirs!
My life sucks now. But I will continue to try and be as positive as I can. Try to learn whatever life lessons I need to learn. And believe once the surgery and rehab happens, such amazing things will happen that couldn't have happened without these experiences. Hello 2026....you will be my year!!!
I do with some people had more empathy and weren't so dismissive. But they are lonely due to their lack of social skills. So its a rock and a hard place. Do I keep trying in here? Or give up because its hard to find someone with social skills and empathy?
