What do you think are the best popular culture types of characters or tropes for each three colors pairings (shards and wedges)?

2024.05.14 15:02 mariustargaryen What do you think are the best popular culture types of characters or tropes for each three colors pairings (shards and wedges)?

Hey guys! Let us take a little break from the shitstorm that's Modern Horizons 3's leakage and have some fun. We all know and love the three-colored combinations. Whether we control the board while slamming huge artifacts in Esper or we attack for the win in Mardu, it's quite easy to see why it's awesome to play three colors. We know what they do mechanically. But what about their philosophy? What are those colors standing for? To make this really fun, let us associate this with a common trope or type of character. Let's start with the shards.
Now... the wedges!
Whoa! That's pretty long. What's your take on shard/wedges type of characters/philosophies? Do you have any other examples?

2024.05.14 13:01 FelicitySmoak_ On This Day in Michael Jackson HIStory - May 14th

On This Day in Michael Jackson HIStory - May 14th
1975 - Michael had a private meeting with Berry Gordy to discuss the Jackson Five's future & after being denied creative freedom once again, the brothers started shopping for a new record deal. The Jackson Five had begun to ask to produce, write and record their own material in the previous year but all their requests for creative control had been denied.
1985 - Michael met Ronald & Nancy Reagan at White House for the launch of a campaign against driving under the influence of alcohol. In the spring of 1984, Michael's team received a call from the Secretary of Transportation, Elizabeth Dole, asking for Michael to give "BEAT IT" as background music for a television commercial and a 35 second radio spot on the dangers of driving a car under the influence of alcohol.
Even though the initiative was initially rejected by Michael, once he meditated a bit, he explained to his representative, John Branca
"You know what? If I can get some kind of prize from the White House then I will give them the song. How about?".
Intrigued, Branca asked: "Like what?"
Jackson listed: "I want to know the White House. I want to be on a stage with the president and receive an award from him. I want an event with children. And I also want to meet Nancy. All that. Why not? Can you get it? "
Branca was given the task of obtaining a positive response in the shortest time possible, which was not entirely difficult due to the fascination of the Reagans with show business. And so, the meeting was scheduled for the morning of 5/14/84
For such an important occasion, President Reagan dressed in a navy blue suit, a gray and navy blue striped tie & a white shirt. Nancy,on the other hand, chose a white suit, Adolfo brand, adorned with buttons and gold stripes. Nothing too spectacular to overshadow Michael's attire: an electric blue sequined jacket, adorned with sequined laces, a band of golden sequins, and epaulettes with golden sequins. He also wore his famous white sequined glove.

Two thousand people in total, including officials, admirers and security met in the central garden to see Michael.
Once everyone was up on stage, the Republican president pointed out that:
"Michael Jackson is proof of what a person can accomplish through a lifestyle free of alcohol or drug abuse. People young and old can respect that. And if Americans follow his example, then we can face up to the problem of drinking and driving, and we can, in Michael's words, beat it."
- a brief speech of just 5 and a half minutes. Then he handed a plaque to Michael, a gesture that he thanked before the microphone with an even more brief intervention, saying a mere 13 words:
"I'm very, very honored. Thank you very much, Mr. President and Mrs. Reagan."

During his tour of the halls of the presidential residence, he showed his fascination with a portrait of Andrew Jackson, dressed in a military suit very similar to the blue sequins he wore that day.
Until Michael's visit, only Elvis Presley, received this distinction, in 1970, when President Richard Nixon opened the doors of the Oval Office. Michael would return to the White House twice more during the terms of George W. Bush, Sr & Bill Clinton

1985 - Michael Jackson received a royalty check from Epic Records for $53 Million for sales from his Thriller album.

1996- Michael visits Chateau de Pierrefonds in Northern France, rumors were he wanted to purchase a French chateau.
The Château de Pierrefonds, classified as a historic monument and managed by the Center des monuments nationaux, was not for sale. Michael was aware of this so his visit was simply a pleasure visit.
https://preview.redd.it/j8gz337bk80d1.jpg?width=281&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5163fff4c29fb985acf401c2933c7dde4af8a672

The guides at the Château de Pierrefonds keep the memory of this arrival, completely unexpected, on 5/14/96. They speak with pleasure of this moment when the King of Pop arrived, surrounded by his bodyguards, to discover this castle worthy of fairy tales.
According to one of the guides, he arrived in a limousine which he parked in front of the village pharmacy. Michael, in fact, came in a station wagon type car which parked as close as possible to the entrance to the castle.
Wearing a red jacket and his mask, Michael arrived late in the morning when there were not too many people. However, it was school field trip time and a group of children were present. One of the guides explains that he then hid in a corner, near the stairs where the visit to the castle begins, so as not to be seen and disturbed
Michael paused for a long time in front of the model of the castle, located at the end of the guard room. Made in 1878 for the Universal Exhibition, this stone model built at 1/50 scale remains impressive (height: 145cm, width: 250 cm, length: 350 cm). Michael's bodyguards reportedly took a lot of photos and it is said that Michael asked for the plans of the model.
What is certain is that Michael had a model of the castle made for his Neverland ranch. It measured 269cm x 335cm x365 cm. A little larger than the model present at the castle. Michael's model sat in the middle of his living room, with, for a time, a framed photo of the castle on the wall.

The model was one of the objects that Julien's Auctions wanted to sell at auction in 2009, before Michael prevented this sale.

Although shy and discreet, Michael did not hesitate to pose for photos with the employees, who were quickly aware of his presence
Michael also leaves a strong memory of his visit with employees through his visit to the site's souvenir shop. He spent a large sum on history books, an amount which, according to the guide, “is not seen every day here” .
2004 - The Defense team, headed up by Thomas Mesereau, have decided to agree with the DA's Office of Santa Barbara to uphold the gag order in the case against Michael. Mesereau wrote that he and his client support the gag order and withdrew any objections to it made by Jackson's prior counsel.
In court documents filed , Attorney Theodore Boutrous, who represents the news organizations, criticized Santa Barbara County DA Thomas Sneddon's condemnation of the intense media coverage.
"Eliminating the gag order will ensure that more accurate information will be disseminated, and will reduce the amount of rumors, speculation and gossip about which the District Attorney complains," Boutrous wrote.
The news organizations have been annoyed by Sneddon's clampdown on information about the case. They have asked the California Supreme Court to overturn the gag order on the grounds that it violates the freedom of speech guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution.
Thomas Sneddon and Gerald Franklin, filed a motion earlier in the week, to the California Supreme Court to uphold the gag order in this case. He argued that the media was hoping to profit by pandering to a "gossip-hungry readership." He proceeded to write in his letter, "Despite the perhaps inevitable leaks, the public knows little more about the facts of this case than that Michael Jackson has been indicted on serious charges and that a jury will be asked to consider the evidence that may be presented to determine his guilt or innocence based on that evidence. And that's the way it should be."
Mr. Sneddon's letter was a response to the media's attorneys that wanted the gag order lifted which was imposed by the sitting judge in the case, Superior Court Judge Rodney Melville. The gag order prohibits participants involved in the case to discuss any particulars about the case to the media.
Sneddon argued in his letter that the news organizations have no standing to challenge the gag order because it applies only to case participants, not the media. He also said that such an order is required in a case that has drawn sensational worldwide attention.
"What is reported as fact becomes the nucleus of intense speculation, conjecture and discussion among commentators, particularly in the tabloid media and the audience they appeal to," Sneddon wrote. "Gossip -- and the 'news' tidbits that are gossip's grist -- translate into income."
2009 - In the last Family gathering Michael, Prince, Paris & Blanket attend Katherine & Joe's 60th wedding anniversary at the Indian Restaurant, Chakra in Beverly Hills with the whole family including all the grandchildren. Randy is the only one not in attendance. This is when most of Jackson siblings saw Michael for the first time since the 2005 Trial. This is also the last time Michael will see most of his family, including Janet & LaToya

How to Choose Bathtub Manufacturers?

When selecting bathtub manufacturers, it’s essential to approach the decision-making process with a comprehensive perspective. Here are some refined considerations to guide your selection:
  1. Quality and Brand Integrity: Opt for manufacturers renowned for their superior bathtub quality. Delve into their historical performance, peruse customer testimonials, and ascertain any recognitions, certifications, or accolades underscoring their quality adherence.
  2. Material Diversity and Design Variety: Seek manufacturers who present a broad spectrum of material choices and design variations to align with your aesthetic desires and functional prerequisites. Examine offerings ranging from acrylic to cast iron, composite, and steel enamel, ensuring they can cater to your specific design preferences.
  3. Customization Capabilities: Should your project necessitate bespoke dimensions, contours, or finishes, confirm the manufacturer’s adaptability to customization. It’s imperative to collaborate with a manufacturer receptive to your distinct design specifications.
  4. Operational Efficiency: Scrutinize the manufacturer’s production prowess and delivery schedules. Ascertain their capacity to manage your order magnitude and their commitment to punctual deliveries, pivotal to maintaining project timelines.
  5. Product Warranty and Post-Sale Assistance: Investigate whether the manufacturer extends product guarantees and the nature of their post-sale services. A commendable manufacturer remains unwavering in their product support, ensuring client satisfaction post-purchase.
  6. Pricing and Value Proposition: While juxtaposing prices across manufacturers, gauge the intrinsic value extended for the expenditure. It’s salient to remember that the most economical choice might not equate to the most durable or qualitative. Strive for an equilibrium between expense and inherent worth.
  7. Eco-Conscious Initiatives: For those prioritizing sustainability, align with manufacturers championing green initiatives and sustainable material usage. Look for accreditations such as ISO or LEED as indicators of their environmental stewardship.

2024.05.13 21:32 cowzilla3 The Great Spice Off: Crowne & Crane The Spice

Hello and welcome to a very special installment of The Great Spice Off! What is The Great Spice Off?
I love the scent of Old Spice, so much so that it's the only aftershave I use as I don't really feel a need to splash anything else on. But, as we all know, Old Spice no longer makes shaving soap. They do still make a cream but that's hardly a great soap and it doesn't actually smell like Old Spice. As such my plan is to test out all the Old Spice options that are out there on as many bases as possible both to try out a variety of bases from different soapmakers and to report back to you on who really nails the scent.
I'll be shaving three times with each soap, using a variety of brushes and razors, and blades. Yes, I know that means it won't be exactly scientific but this is going to take a while and I want to use all my other shit too. Soaps will be rated on a few factors and given points from 1-5 for each.

Crowne & Crane The Spice

And so we enter (for now) into a strange little corner of Old Spice dupery that I honestly wouldn't have even entered if I had read the description of The Spice before ordering it long ago. Also, if Crowne & Crane hadn't named the soap something pretty inaccurate. Also, also, if I hadn't accidentally picked up a second dupe of the scent recently. Yes, The Spice is not an Old Spice dupe but an Old Spice Limited Edition (LE) dupe.
Record Scratch. Double Take. Wuuuuuuuh!???
So you're asking yourself what the heck is an Old Spice LE. Well, despite what most think, Old Spice has had many scents over the years and almost none of them are riffs or new twists on their original Old Spice scent. Old Spice, the company/brand, made a plethora of scents throughout the history of producing Old Spice that, while all fell in the kind of old fashioned scenting category, had nothing to do with what we think of as Old Spice. Old Spice LE was one of these scents. From the dating I can find online, it was released sometime in the early 90s and stuck around for a chunk of that decade and possibly into the 2000s. It's also possible it was a scent released every couple of years as I can see a few different bottle versions. I don't actually know that much about it, have never smelled the original myself, and the Internet is not actually full of Old Spice product history let alone a defunct aftershave from the early 90s.
Whatever the history, what appears to be consistent is that it came in a clear bottle and was called Limited Edition. It also featured a base of amber, cedar, and woods with supporting notes of cardamom, lavender, moss, and jasmine, and citrus top notes. As you can see, aside from the citrus, it doesn't have all the much in common with Old Spice but that hasn't stopped a fragrance seller from selling a dupe of the discontinued scent for those who may still be looking for it. And so, there are soapers out there who pick this scent up for whatever reason instead of actual Old Spice. Actually, there are only two and Crowne & Crane are the only ones I can find doing it intentionally (more on that in a future review). They're also naming it The Spice, which is a little misleading considering the only spice scent in it is cardamon and given the lavender, citrus, and moss present its clearly intended to be somewhat of a fougère. The Spice, I think we can all agree, is not the name anyone would give a fougère.
So why then am I even reviewing it? That is like asking why do people climb Everest? Why do athletes push their body to the extremes? Why does the woodchuck chuck wood? If these questions could be answered then perhaps I could answer why I am reviewing this. But they can't be.
Crowne & Crane was founded in 2016 by Karl and Liz, whose last names I can't find so we'll call them Karl Crowne and Liz Crane. Karl was an enthusiast it looks like before going into the ol' soapmaking business and, being founded pre-2020, is officially an ol' timer in the artisan soap industry. Despite that longevity they aren't really all that popular around these parts with u/PhilosphicalZombie and u/loudmusicboy literally being the only two folks who appear to use them regularly if at all. I'd say that's maybe because they're not just a shave soap company but Stirling isn't either so that logic kind of flies out the window. Then again, we're a bunch of grown men and women telling other people how we removed hair from our bodies on a daily basis. Logic means nothing here.
Crowne & Crane have two bases, vegan and tallow. Most of their soaps are in tallow only and that's what The Spice comes in so that's what we're working with here. Of note is a commitment to organic, humanely-raised cows for the beef tallow, which is always a plus in my book (and sustainably sourced palm oil). The soap itself is kind of dry and chalky, not in a bad way and it wasn't hard or falling apart. It's a soft, dry soap, which are not contradictory things. The base is made up of Potassium Tallowate, Sodium Tallowate, Potassium Stearate, Sodium Stearate, Aloe Vera Juice, Potassium Cocoate, Sodium Cocoate, Phthalate-Free Fragrance, Potassium Shea Butterate, Sodium Shea Butterate, Kokum Butter, Sodium Lactate, Glycerin, Lanolin, Tussah Silk. Nothing to much to comment on here except I can't stop saying the word tussah over and over in my head. It's a weird word and now it doesn't feel real I've said it so much. Tu... ssah. Tooo suuuhhh...
The labeling is a nice vintage boat symbol, which, again, is a bit misleading given the LE branding was very much a modern (for the 90s) Old Spice look, not the classic schooner branding of the OG Old Spice. If you weren't paying attention (*cough* me *cough*) you might just order this thinking you got an Old Spice dupe and open the lid to find you most assuredly did not. Well, open the lid is a bad description as I bought their 3 oz puck option instead of the 5 oz jar and it came wrapped in paper. 3 oz, by the way, is a great mid-price option that gives you more than a tiny sample but not a full plastic tub. I'd be perfectly happy to have other shaving companies offer this... please... please... there's so much soap under my sink. So... much... soap.
(Sidenote: if you are looking to get their soaps, do it quick as they're going on hiatus during a move in two days!)
Oldness: 0
As a scent not designed to smell like Old Spice this one knocks it out of the park. In fact, it does such a great job not smelling like Old Spice I'd put it up there with some of the greatest scents that don't smell like Old Spice ever made. Have a scent that doesnt's smell like Old Spice that you love? This one smells as much not like Old Spice as that one does! If you're looking for something that doesn't smell like Old Spice but has the word Spice featured in its name and the words "Old" and "Spice" in the description next to each other than this is the soap for you.
Spiciness: 3
This is actually a pretty solid scent even if its called The Spice but isn't really a spicy scent at all. It's definitely a vintage scent, though, and reminds me a bit of Seaforth! Spiced but not as good. Because of that I'm going to say that it still captures a bit of that classic feel that Old Spice gives you even if its a scent from the 90s, a decade that has yet to fall into the "classic" zone and thus still feels like everything from it was cringe (including teenage me).
Lather: 5
What an absolutely brilliant lather The Spice kicks up. From the moment water hits it turning it into a thick prot-lather to the gloriously shiny conclusion, it's just a pleasure to lather. The soap is super thirsty, which can often lead to some dialing issues but I never had those aside from having to add a lot of water to both my larger scoop shave and my medium scoop. You don't need a lot of soap to get this going big and it's really easy to get there and looks great the entire time. If you were going to make an ad about shave soap -- as we all dream to do -- and needed a pretty lather to build up this would be a great choice.
Shave: 3
The Spice offers an incredible cushion of soap that can tackle even the most aggressive razor, making it feel barely there on your skin. However, it is, at best, mid-tier on its slickness with limited residual slickness too. As I reduced the amount of soap I used on each shave I figured I'd eventually hit a lather that was both full of cushion and slickness, but even on my final shave with the least amount of lather I wasn't too impressed with the glide provided. There's slickness there, it's not like dragging some sort of pillowy sandpaper over your face or anything but despite the copious amounts of water I added it never truly peaked.
The Spice's Old Spice LE scent isn't exactly complimentary with either my Indian Old Spice for the vintage one. It's not an afront to the nostrils or anything (sometimes I picture what nostrils being afronted would look like and it weird me out) but it ain't great. It probably plays a bit better with the more floraly vintage spice if I was forced to choose one by some deranged wet shaving person forcing people to shave with stuff. The soap also left my skin feeling a little sticky for some reason, like there was a layer of it still on there. That dissipated quickly but it was an odd sensation.
Final Verdict: 13
Crowne & Crane might be one of my favorite soaps to lather as it's easy to do, looks fantastic, lathers big, and just drinks up the water. It's just kind of fun working it into a lather and for someone who appreciates the process of wetshaving that's a big deal. The shave doesn't quiet live up to the lather, though, despite some really great cushion. Where it really disappoints is the post shave where it not only still doesn't smell like Old Spice (even if it was never trying to) but also left my face feeling a little icky. No one likes an icky face, just ask .

Coin collecting is a fascinating hobby that allows you to delve into history, art, and culture through tangible artifacts. Ancient coins, in particular, offer a unique window into civilizations long past. However, starting a coin collection, especially one focused on ancient treasures, may seem daunting due to perceived costs and complexities. The truth is, with careful planning and knowledge, embarking on this journey can be both rewarding and budget-friendly. In this guide, we'll explore how to begin collecting ancient coins without breaking the bank. Ancient coins also serve as safe haven assets, offering a tangible and historically proven store of value amidst economic uncertainties, which further enhances their appeal to collectors and investors alike.

Understanding Ancient Coins

Before diving into the practical aspects, it's essential to understand what ancient coins entail. Ancient coins are relics from various civilizations, ranging from the Greeks and Romans to Byzantine, Persian, and beyond. These coins often depict emperors, gods, or symbols representing the issuing authority. The allure lies in their historical significance and the stories they tell about bygone eras.

Why Start a Coin Collection?

Collecting coins offers a tangible connection to history. Each coin is a piece of a puzzle that, when assembled, reveals a vivid picture of ancient civilizations. Furthermore, it's a hobby that can be as casual or intense as you desire, making it accessible to all.

Starting Your Collection on a Budget

  1. Research and Education Begin by educating yourself about ancient coins. Join online forums, read books, and explore reputable websites to understand the basics of numismatics (the study of coins). Learn about different civilizations, coin types, and their approximate values.
  2. Set a Budget Determine how much you're willing to invest in your collection. Start small and gradually increase your budget as you gain experience. Remember, rare coins can be expensive, but there are affordable options available.
  3. Focus Your Collection Narrow down your focus to a specific era, civilization, or type of coin. By specializing, you'll become more knowledgeable and can make informed purchasing decisions. For example, you might focus on Roman denarii or Greek drachmas.
  4. Identify Reliable Sources Seek reputable dealers and auction houses specializing in ancient coins. Attend coin shows where you can view and purchase coins directly from sellers. Online marketplaces can also be a good resource, but exercise caution and verify sellers' credentials.
  5. Start with Affordable Coins Begin your collection with lower-cost coins. Ancient coins can range widely in price, so look for common types in decent condition. These coins can be surprisingly affordable and serve as a foundation for your collection.
  6. Consider Replicas and Reproductions Replicas and reproductions of ancient coins can be a budget-friendly alternative to genuine artifacts. While they lack the historical value, they are excellent for educational purposes and can help you familiarize yourself with different coin types.
  7. Take Advantage of Special Offers Keep an eye out for special offers, discounts, or auctions where you might find coins at reduced prices. Building relationships with dealers can also lead to insider opportunities.

Caring for Your Collection

Proper care is crucial to preserving the value and integrity of your coin collection. Store coins in archival-quality holders or folders designed specifically for numismatic items. Handle coins with clean, dry hands and avoid unnecessary touching to prevent damage.

Conclusion

Embarking on a journey to collect ancient coins is a rewarding pursuit that doesn't necessarily require a large budget. By educating yourself, setting a reasonable budget, focusing your collection, and making informed purchasing decisions, you can start building a collection of ancient treasures without breaking the bank. Remember, the joy of coin collecting lies not only in the coins themselves but also in the stories they tell and the history they represent. So, dive in, explore, and enjoy the adventure of building your own coin collection—one ancient treasure at a time. Additionally, investing in precious metals through ancient coins can be a strategic financial move, offering a tangible asset that holds inherent and historical value over time. This dual purpose of collecting can make it even more enticing for those looking to combine passion with investment potential.

Many were speculative about Patidar's English speaking skills
If this is faf's final season. We are aiming for new captain (Indian I hope) next year in the mega auction. When discussions started in the community about Patidar being the captain, many were speculative about his English speaking skills, though English is not the required criterion for being Captain of the team..
I guess that Patidar is an Introverted guy. I don't want the management to put pressure on him about captaincy if it affects his batting.
Given a chance, Can he prove himself as a captain? (With Kohli's help)

Has anyone read McCarthy’s magnum opus? I just finished yesterday. Utterly devastated. I’m in a delirium. Apart from the philosophical and historical elements, I was conveniently pleased with the discussion of American Indian artifacts. Having hunted artifacts my entire life, I was fascinated with Judge Holden’s archeological and anthropological screeds. The amount of well-preserved sites in the mid-1800s must have been both incredible and underrated at the time. McCarthy seemed to effectively describe my feelings of the sense of historical importance an artifact holds and the intimidation therein.

2024.05.12 20:08 Fun-Plane7612 Mackenzie Season 1 Episode 1 - The Move (My AU)

Mackenzie Season 1 Episode 1 - The Move (My AU)
It was a late morning, the sun shining down towards the house of the Border Collies, in Queenstown, New Zealand. Walking towards the car was a 6-year-old Border Collie, named Mackenzie, who was also wearing a backpack that was slightly still zipped open. After Mackenzie walked out of the house, his father, a black and white border collie, was behind him. Turning to Mackenzie as he got to the porch.
“Head to the car Mack, I’ll only be a minute.” Mackenzie’s dad told him. Mackenzie nodded his head.
“Okay.” Mackenzie said as he walked to the car. As he walked over he saw his mom, a red merle border collie with a brown and white coat, buckling his younger brother into his car seat. His younger brother was a 4 year old border collie who looked just like him. The same coat color and coat pattern, the same folded ear, and even the same chest fur. The only two differences between the two just so happened to be the color of his younger brother’s legs was the opposite in color scheme, and his younger brother’s tail was all white rather than black and white.
“And, Done.” Mackenzie’s mom said upon buckling the last buckle. “We are ready for take off Little Mack.”
“Sweet as, Mum!” Little Mack said. His real name was actually Kayden, but most of his family called him Little Mack due to his uncanny resemblance to his older brother. Mackenzie’s mom turned to look at Mackenzie and kneeled down to his height.
“Are you ready to go Mackenzie?” She asked him. Mackenzie turned to look at the house next to theirs, and stared for a moment before looking back at his mom.
“Can I tell Eli goodbye?” Mackenzie asked. Mackenzie’s mom smiled and patted his head.
“Of course you can.” She told him. Mackenzie smiled and walked over to the neighbor’s house, knocking on the door. It took a few seconds before the door opened and on the other side was a young Samoyed/Pomeranian mix around Mackenzie’s age. This was Eli, the next door neighbor and Mackenzie’s best friend. Both of their tails began wagging upon seeing each other.
“Mackenzie!” Eli said as he hugged him. Mackenzie smiled and hugged back. They released the hug after a couple of seconds. “Stay here, I got something for you.”
Eli turned back into the house and ran out of Mackenzie’s sight, Mackenzie standing at the door and looking around. Eli came back after a few minutes holding a light gray bilby with a light blue belly that had white polka dots, along with a right purple eye and a left blue.
“Here, I want you to have this.” Eli said as he gave the bilby to Mackenzie.
“You’re giving me Bandido?” Mackenzie asked. Eli nodded.
“So Billy’s not lonely.” Eli told him.
“Are….are you sure?” Mackenzie asked him.
“Yeah. I’m sure. I know you’ll take good care of him.” Eli said with a tail wag. “Besides, there are bilbies in Australia, Billy and Bandido will be around their family.”
Mackenzie looked at Bandido before putting him in his backpack, with Billy, a purple stuffed Bilby with a yellow underbelly and a purple butterfly on the belly. Mackenzie zipped up the backpack and placed it back onto his back.
“Thank you Eli. I’m gonna miss you.” Mackenzie told him.
“I’m gonna miss you too.” Eli said before Mackenzie’s dad walked to the car after closing the door to the house. He then hugged Mackenzie again, his tail wagging slower this time. “Thanks for being my friend.”
Mackenzie hugged back once again, knowing this will be the last time they see each other.
“Goodbye Eli.” Mackenzie said before letting go.
“Goodbye Mackenzie.” Eli said, letting go as well. Mackenzie walked to the car, getting in the back with his brother and his sister, who was a blue merle border collie with the same patterns as her mother, but she had a red merle spot over her right eye. Along with her left ear being folded rather than her right like her brothers. This was Mackenzie’s younger sister, Minnie, the middle child. As Mackenzie got strapped into his car seat, he took one last look at Eli, who stood on the porch waving at him, and Mackenzie waved back as Mackenzie’s dad began to drive off.
On the road, Little Mack and Minnie were bombarding their mom and dad with a plethora of questions about Australia, which Mackenzie’s dad did his best to answer in both an honest and humorous way. Mackenzie on the other hand was mostly silent, looking at the window for most of the ride. Mackenzie’s dad took notice from the rear view. After answering another question from Little Mack, Mackenzie’s dad turned his attention to Mackenzie.
“Are you okay Mackenzie?” Mackenzie’s dad asked him. Mackenzie was silent for a moment.
“I’m gonna miss our old home.” Mackenzie admitted. Mackenzie’s dad gave him a sympathetic look on his face.
"I understand, buddy. It's natural to feel that way. But you know, change can bring some pretty amazing adventures too." Mackenzie’s dad told him.
“Like in Indiana Bones?” Mackenzie asked.
Mackenzie's dad chuckled. "Sure, kinda like Indiana Bones. Except instead of hunting for ancient artifacts, we'll be exploring new places and making new friends."
Mackenzie pondered that for a moment, his gaze drifting back to the passing scenery outside. "Do you think we'll find a cool place like our old treehouse?"
"Who knows, Mack. Maybe we'll find something even cooler," his dad replied with a smile, glancing at Mackenzie through the rearview mirror. "But wherever we end up, we'll make it our own little adventure."
Mackenzie nodded slowly, a small smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. He leaned back in his seat, feeling a bit more hopeful about the journey ahead.
“Dad?” Little Mack called.
“Yeah mate?” Mackenzie’s dad answered.
“What’s Indiana Bones?” Little Mack asked. Mackenzie, Mackenzie’s Dad, and Mackenzie’s Mom all looked at him with varying degrees of shock.
“Hunter?” Mackenzie’s mom lightly scolded him.
“Sorry Queen, I forgot to show him before I packed the movies.” Mackenzie’s dad, ‘Hunter’ replied. “Mackenzie, mind telling Little Mack about it?”
“Okay, so there’s this Malamute named Dr. Henry Walton Bones Jr. But he’s also called Indiana Bones…”
As Mackenzie recited Indiana Bones, Queen turned to Hunter.
“You know, you could have just had him watch the movies on your phone.” Queen informed him in a whisper.
“I could have, but I think he’d be more entertained watching them on the plane.” Hunter replied. Queen smirked.
“Smart move.” Queen told him.
The car ride to the airport only felt like a couple of minutes for Mackenzie and Little Mack as Mackenzie rattled off what Indiana Bones was all about. On the plane ride from New Zealand to Australia, Hunter gave Little Mack his phone to watch the Indiana Bones Films on. And when they arrived to Australia and began to drive to their new home, Mackenzie and Little Mack were talking about the Indiana Bones movies. Minnie on the other hand was watching the movies as well, not having the chance to due to falling asleep on the plane.
“-but I didn’t really like the 5th movie.” Little Mack said. Mackenzie shrugged.
“I can’t really remember that movie as good, but I think they were all good.” Mackenzie said. Hunter put the car in park and looked back at Little Mack.
“Quick Question, which movie’s your favorite?” Hunter asked Little Mack.
“I like the second movie the best.” Little Mack answered.
“Ah bugger.” Hunter cursed as he slipped Queen 5 dollars. Hunter unlocked the car and everyone got out, and looked at the new house. While this house looked much bigger than the one they lived in back in New Zealand, not everyone had the same reaction to the house. Little Mack, Minnie and Queen were in awe, Mackenzie on the other hand seemed to look a bit sad while looking at the house.
Hunter looked at Mackenzie and saw the look on his face. He felt a pang of guilt hit him before looking at Queen.
“Hey hon, mind showing Kayden and Minnie their rooms? Mackenzie and I are about to go on a little adventure.” Hunter told her. Queen nodded, understanding Hunter’s intent, and ushered Little Mack and Minnie towards the house.
“Alright, you two, let’s go check out your new rooms!” Queen said cheerfully, leading them inside. Little Mack and Minnie eagerly followed, their tails wagging with excitement as they ran into the house. As they ran inside, Hunter went to the trunk of his car and reached inside to pull out a slouch hat and a notepad. Mackenzie was confused as to what he was doing.
“Dad, what are we doing?” Mackenzie asked.
“We’re going on an adventure, like in Indiana Bones.” Hunter told him, placing the slouch hat onto Mackenzie’s head. “We’re gonna be exploring the new neighborhood and you’re can draw the map.”
Mackenzie’s tail started wagging.
“Really?” Mackenzie asked. Hunter kneeled beside him and placed the paper in front of them.
“Really. I’ll help you start off kiddo.” Hunter said as he gave him drew an X in the top right corner of the paper. “This will be us. Whenever we come across something you wanna see again, just draw it on the map, sounds easy enough?”
Mackenzie nodded enthusiastically, a spark of excitement igniting in his eyes. "Yeah, sounds awesome!"
Hunter grinned, ruffling Mackenzie's fur. "Great! Let's go explore our new neighborhood and see what treasures we can find."
With the slouch hat snugly on Mackenzie's head and the notepad in his paws, the two set off down the sidewalk. The first locations they go to were the neighbors houses. A family of labradors, A single chow chow and her daughter, and a Family of Heelers. Hunter got acquainted with the adults as Mackenzie got acquainted with the kids his age. During the conversation, Mackenzie drew out the houses on the makeshift map, marking dots from his dad’s house.
After a couple of moments, Hunter and Mackenzie began to depart, saying goodbye to their new neighbors to explore some more. As they continued their exploration, Mackenzie and Hunter stumbled upon a nearby park. Mackenzie's eyes lit up with excitement at the sight of the playground equipment and open grassy fields.
"Dad, can we check out the park?" Mackenzie asked eagerly.
"Absolutely!" Hunter replied with a smile. "Remember, mark it on the map so we can find our way back."
Mackenzie nodded and quickly added a drawing of the park to their map before they ventured inside. They spent the next hour playing on the swings, racing on the monkey bars, and going down the slide. Mackenzie decided to mark this on the map as well before looking up and seeing some kind of pathway in the trees. Mackenzie tilted his head before looking at his father.
“Hey dad, where does this lead to?” Mackenzie asked. Hunter looked down the path and patted Mackenzie on his back.
“Not too sure. Wanna check it out?” Hunter said. Mackenzie slightly backed up a bit. His curiosity warring with a hint of apprehension. He glanced up at his dad, who offered an encouraging smile.
"It's okay if you're not sure, buddy," Hunter reassured him, kneeling down to his level. "Exploring is all about discovering new things, but it's also important to listen to your instincts. If you're feeling unsure, we can always save it for another day."
Mackenzie looked at Hunter for a moment, and then looked at the path before making up his mind.
“Okay, lets explore the path. Just stay close to me, okay?” Hunter asked. Mackenzie nodded his head. With Mackenzie's decision made, the two set off down the winding path, Mackenzie keeping close to his dad's side. As they walked, Mackenzie felt a mix of excitement and nervousness bubbling inside him. The path seemed to twist and turn through the dense trees, dappling the ground with patches of sunlight. The rustle of leaves and the occasional chirp of birds filled the air around them.
"Dad, do you think we're gonna find anything cool?" Mackenzie asked, his voice a mixture of curiosity and anticipation.
“Maybe.” Hunter said with a shrug. “Keep your eyes peeled just in case.”
It took a couple of moments of walking before they came across a creek. Mackenzie’s eyes went wide with wonder upon seeing it.
“Whoa.” He said. Hunter chuckled as he walked into the creek.
“Hey Mackenzie, check this out.” Hunter said. Mackenzie walked into the creek as well and Hunter pointed to the water at their toes, where they could see tadpoles nibbling at their toes.
“Whoa….they’re so small.” Mackenzie said as he watched them. Hunter smiled, watching Mackenzie's fascination with the tadpoles. "Yep, those little guys are tadpoles. They'll eventually turn into frogs one day."
Mackenzie crouched down by the edge of the creek, his eyes glued to the tiny creatures swimming around in the water. "Do you think we can catch one?"
Hunter chuckled. "We can certainly try."
They spent the next little while attempting to catch tadpoles with their hands, Mackenzie's laughter echoing through the trees as he chased the elusive creatures. Eventually, they managed to catch one in their cupped hands, and Mackenzie's eyes lit up with triumph.
"I caught one, Dad!" he exclaimed, carefully cradling the tadpole in his palms.
Hunter grinned proudly. "Great job, buddy! Now, let's release it back into the water so it can grow into a frog."
Mackenzie nodded and released the tadpole back into the pond. The tadpole swam off and Mackenzie waved to it.
“Bye bye tadpole.” He said, his tail momentarily stopped wagging. Hunter put his arm around Mackenzie's shoulders.
"Pretty cool, huh?" he said softly.
Mackenzie nodded, a small smile gracing his face. "Yeah, it was."
The two of them explored around the creek even more, finding insects and even more animals. As the sun began to lower, Hunter and Mackenzie had exited the creek and were lying down in a field currently looking up at the orange-lit sky. As they looked up at the sky, Mackenzie looked at Hunter with a troubled look on his face.
“Dad?” Mackenzie asked.
“Yeah?” Hunter asked him.
“Did we have to move?” Mackenzie asked. Hunter seemed to froze a bit at the question before letting out a sigh.
"It wasn't an easy decision, kiddo. I wasn’t to sure about this decision myself. I mean, you took your first steps in that house, leaving all of that behind was a very big choice." Hunter began, his voice gentle. "But sometimes in life, we have to make changes, even if they're hard."
"You see, Mackenzie, change can be scary. It's natural to feel sad or uncertain when we leave behind the familiar," Hunter continued, his voice soft yet filled with conviction. "But sometimes, change brings us new opportunities and adventures we never even dreamed of. It's like exploring a new path in the woods – you never know what wonders you might find."
Mackenzie listened intently, his eyes reflecting the colors of the sunset above. He pondered his father's words, mulling over the idea of embracing change despite the discomfort it may bring.
"But what about Eli and our old house?" Mackenzie asked softly, his voice tinged with a hint of sadness.
Hunter's heart squeezed at the mention of Mackenzie's best friend and their old home. He lightly sat up, looking up at the sky.
"I know it's hard, Mack," he said softly, "but just because we're moving doesn't mean we'll forget the memories we made. We'll always carry them with us, like little treasures in our hearts. And who knows, maybe one day we'll visit Queenstown again and reminisce about all the good times."
Mackenzie stood up and walked over to his father and gave him a hug. He didn’t say anything, he just hugged his dad. Hunter wrapped his arms around Mackenzie, holding him close. They stayed like that for a moment, the only sound being the rustle of leaves in the gentle breeze.
"I love you, Mackenzie," he said softly, his voice filled with warmth and affection.
"I love you too, Dad."
“Remember, no matter where we go, we're in this together, okay?" Hunter told him, patting his back as Mackenzie let go of the hug. As nightfall occurred, it was time for them to head back home. Mackenzie looked at the path that lead to the creek before taking his dad’s hand.
“Can we come back to the Creek tomorrow?” Mackenzie asked. Hunter smiled.
“I don’t see why not. Might have to be a short trip because of how much we have to unpack.” Hunter said before grabbing Mackenzie’s hand drawn map. “Now lets see how accurate this map is. Hmm…which way is North?”
Mackenzie and Hunter began to walk off back to their new home.
“I think I’m gonna like it here.” Mackenzie said as they walked.
[Flash Forward]
The sun was shining brightly downward onto the creek, illuminating the water with a warm golden glow. The gentle ripples of the creek danced under the caress of the sunlight, creating a mesmerizing play of light and shadow on the surface. Tall eucalyptus trees lined the banks, their leaves swaying in the soft breeze, casting dappled patterns of shade onto the water below. Mackenzie, now an adult with long hair on the side of his head combined with a ponytail, was looking at the pond he had explored with his father so many years ago. He stood on the same spot where he had once caught tadpoles and shared heartfelt conversations with his dad. His tail wagged as he crouched down to see how many tadpoles where in it this time, then he heard his mom call out to him.
“Mackenzie!” Queen called to him from the waterfall. Mackenzie turned to look at her and smiled.
“Yeah mum?” Mackenzie asked.
“Hunter and Huntley found a wallaby, wanna come see it?” Queen asked. Mackenzie smiled and started to climb up the waterfall.
“Sure thing. Let’s go.” Mackenzie answered as he and Queen started to walk that way.
“Dad! Hurry, you’re gonna miss it!” A child’s voice said from a distance.
“I’m coming, I’m coming.” Mackenzie said with a smile.
A/N: Welp, it's official. I've reach the point of no return when it comes to Bluey, and now it's everyone else's problem. Hope you guys like it, if you didn't.....too bad but tell me how to improve. I also hope this is allowed, I read the rules and there's nothing saying it's not allowed, but I didn't see anyone else doing this so, fingers crossed.
Also, this is adult Mackenzie, not that he'll make a bunch of appearances:

2024.05.12 18:00 SubhanBihan To KKR and DC fans - do you want Rohit?

For quite a few seasons, KKR and DC both don't have any big Indian name (there's Iyer and Pant but they're definitely not as "premium" as the big 3). I think this has encouraged and shaped both teams and their fandoms to be rather performance-centric, i.e. the results are what matter the most.
Next year Rohit Sharma (whose performance as a batter is on a decline that can be expected to continue as he ages) might be available in the mega auction. There's rumors of KKR and especially DC gunning for him. But as fans of these two "meritocratic" teams - is this something that you desire? Is having one of the big 3 of Indian cricket worth potentially clogging up an opening spot (arguably the most crucial in T20s now)?
Just wanna hear genuine opinions from the two fanbases.

2024.05.12 16:20 lastog9 Rating each MI Player's performance this year

Since the season is almost over, let's discuss how good or bad each player has been.
I have given the rating based on the expectations from a player and whether he was successful in playing according to his role.
The rating process is a mix of
I have included players who have played at least 5 matches in the season.
Rohit Sharma (5/10): Although he started the season a high note, his decline in the later half of the season was painful to see. If we go purely by the stats, someone with his form would have been actually even dropped. I love Rohit but to be honest, his decline in batting form over the years has been worrying. This season was supposed to be redemption as he had no captaincy pressure but it in fact affected him negatively. Whether we retain him next season is a question management will have to ask themselves. Its a damned if they do damned if they don't situation for them.
Ishan Kishan (6/10): For someone who was supposed to be the next generation star and even the next generation captain in the future, Ishan Kishan has severely underperformed. He fails to last on difficult pitches and his strokeplay gets affected after powerplay as he does not seem to figure out the gaps quickly and ends up playing a lot of dots. If you are paying 15 Cr to your opener, you expect him to finish off at least 5 games in the season and play till at least the halfway mark but that has not happened.
Tilak Varma (9/10): The knight in the shining armour of MI, Tilak has tried his best to rescue MI from difficult situations but unfortunately has been let down due to lack of support from his teammates. He has shown the ability to bat under pressure in this season as well as the previous ones. He should be in the retention list anyhow or we rebel.
Suryakumar Yadav (8/10): SKY has had quite a blow hot blow cold season but has definitely played a few good knocks. Coming back from an injury, he was expected to take some time to get back to form. But he also failed to get going on some important occasions so this season was definitely not the best one for him.
Tim David (6/10): Once touted to be the successor of Pollard, Tim David showed glimpses of being a match winner last season but has absolutely failed to deliver this season. His inability against spinners was exposed. I would blame part of it to his batting position too as I feel he sometimes comes too late when finishing the game is next to impossible. He should have come before Hardik ideally, which did not happen in most of the season. Nevertheless, he is definitely what he was promised to be and no way near the abilities of Pollard. I would not be sad if he is not part of the MI outift next year.
Hardik Pandya (4/10): The lesser said about him, the better. Apart from all the controversies, if I were to objectively judge his season purely based on cricket, I would say he has made huge tactical errors in bowling changes, taking reviews and the batting order promoting himself ahead of others. His batting has been whack and apart from one or two games, he has never seemed in touch. He failed to define a role for himself in the bowling attack, sometimes opening the bowling, sometimes bowling in the death while other times bowling just whenever he feels so. Also failed to utilize the spinners to the best of their abilites when the pacers were going for plenty of runs.
Nehal Wadhera (7/10): Nehal showed promise last year of being a future star. Unfortunately he got very less game time this year but has shown enough promise to buy him back next year.
Naman Dhir (6/10): He has been good in bits and pieces and did not have a clear role this year but can be bought back for more game time next year. Has ability to clear the ropes at will and some handy spin in the middle overs.
Romario Shepherd (8/10): I really do not understand why he was dropped to be honest when he was the only finisher MI had who looked in touch. His bowling was definitely awful but in my opinion, he earns 8 points just on the basis of his batting, giving a match winning performance with his 39(10) knock.
Jasprit Bumrah (10/10): The only reason why margins of losing were relatively low was this man. Consistently saved 20 runs in almost each match and also givng breakthroughs. Cannot expect more than 100% out of a guy. Unfortunately, he had no good partner to trap the opposition batting lineups.
Gerald Coeetzee (7/10): Bowled partially well in the powerplay and took some valuable wickets. However, was still expensive enough. I would keep him in the potentials lists still for the next auction.
Nuwan Thushara (6/10): He was able to replicate Malinga's action but has lack of control over his bowling, giving wides too often. Economy too has been as bad as Coetzee. I would not be keen on buying him back.
Akash Madhwal (6/10): The spearhead of last year's MI bowling attack, I had high hopes from Akash this season and so did the management. He had a good first game taking 3 wickets but could not replicate in the next 4 games as he was hit left right and center in almost every match. Still due to his ability to bowl yorkers, I would keep him in the potentials list for next year.
Piyush Chawla (8/10): He really has it in him. After a meagre start in the first few games, he came back really well and provided important breakthroughs for MI. Don't know if MI will bid for him next season but whichever team he goes to, he can still deliver what any team wants, wickets at the important times.
Mohammad Nabi (6/10): Hardly bowled any overs at all so I would not be too harsh on his performance but he did not control the flow of runs nor took much wickets in the few overs he bowled.
Bonus Addition:
Anshul Kamboj (8/10): MI desperately needs to find an Indian pacer to partner with Bumrah and looks like Anshul has the potential. Would definitely buy him back the next auction if I was part of MI management.
Retentions:
If only 3 players are allowed
If 5 players are allowed
I am really hoping 5 player retention is allowed otherwise MI will make the biggest mistake of letting go Tilak
Players to get back in the auction:
Would love to know your views on the individual player ratings.

2024.05.11 15:48 GarryBakait Pant's Suspension

Tbh, I'm not really freaked out on this. I mean, the entire auction strategy this year was based on the idea that what if Pant is not matchfit! We have enough keeping options in playing xi already. (Hope/ Porel/ Stubbs). Axar Patel will do a decent job as skipper as he knows the team in & out. We have tried Porel as floater throughout the season & he has done a decent job. It's definitely a setback but not a major one.
Shaw comes in for Pant (as he is the only Indian batting option that has played well among other benched players). Also, RCB's bowling unit is not such which instills fear. Porel will move to middle order.
And if you don't want to change the opening pair (as Porel compliments JFM well), then go with the same batting order and promote Naib at no. 5, he is a clutch player & will be instrumental in Pant's absence. Play Kushagra as Pant's replacement and send him at no.7. It will be his moment to shine.
I think bringing in Warner won't be a good idea as it would unsettle the entire balance. Go with the same 4 overseas batters. Make an Indian substitute. Whether it's Shaw or Kushagra (whoever is fairing well in practice).

Astaguru, one of India's premier online auction houses, recently concluded its highly anticipated "Masters Legacy" auction on April 27, 2024, marking another milestone in the realm of Indian art. As art enthusiasts reflect on the latest auction, it's intriguing to compare it with its predecessor, the "Masters Legacy" auction held on April 30, 2023, and examine how the landscape of Indian art has evolved over a year.
The 2024 edition of the "Masters Legacy" auction continued Astaguru's tradition of showcasing an exquisite selection of masterpieces from renowned Indian artists. From vibrant paintings to intricate sculptures, the auction offered a diverse array of artworks that celebrated the rich heritage and artistic legacy of India. Notable highlights included captivating pieces by legendary artists such as Manjit Bajwa, M.F. Husain, S.H. Raza, and F.N. Souza, among others, each contributing to the tapestry of Indian art in their own unique way.

Comparing this year's auction to its predecessor, one can observe several notable trends and developments. Firstly, there was a discernible increase in the diversity of artworks presented in the 2024 auction, with a greater emphasis on exploring different styles, and periods of Indian art. This expansion of scope allowed collectors to access a broader range of artistic expressions and contributed to a more dynamic and inclusive auction experience.
