Hi all,
I did a ribbon spline for my bust using 5 joints (method with hair system follicles). It works great; the problem comes when I try to use the root controller; I have no problems with moving but when I try to rotate and scale.
When I rotate root control, joints n°2 and n°4 (the ones without "direct controls") are deforming sliding down the joints chain. I think that the problem is the fact that this 2 joints don't have a controller that keep them in the right place (they have constrains only from follicles) but I really don't know how to solve the situation.
When I scale root control to give the possibility to use an animation in any environment, it works only when I have the skinning method on classic linear, not with dual quaternion. Is it normal or I miss something? I would to use dual quat as main skinning method (it's better for deformation and volume preservation) and use classic linear only for squash and stretch.

I 26 f was recently asked by my friend Jake (not his real name) if I would be willing to be in a shot movie for his collage course work in film direction.
(small FYI we are not close friends, we knew eachother during school as we doth hung out in a big friend group of people who were doing performing arts. This is how he knew I could act. We aren't close but I still consider him a friend)
So I agreed to help out, not only as a friend but to get some exspirence in film acting as I'd never done it before. I am not getting paid but he has agreed to pay for my bus fairs to and from.
It was on day 2 of shooting that the incerdent happened. We were filming a scene that involved a stunt, where my character is on the phone before she has an accident and falls, hits her head and drops her phone. It had been astablished non verbally the day before that I would be using my own phone as a prop so the the director would phone me in the scene were another character calls mine. And later verbally astablished this day that mine would be used again for continuity perposes.
During this shot the director wanted me to fall towards the camera, so he got the camera man (CM) to lay on his back (on the bedding jake had brought to act as a crash mat) and I would fall towards him and catch my self before squishing the camera. I was more concerned about squishing the CM so we disided the CM would lay slightly to the side leaving me room to roll off last minute as it was set in a corridor.
Alot of you may have already guessed what happens next but I'll tell you any anyway. As I was falling towards the poor poor CM I was focused so much on not squishing, my phone flew out of my hand and hit the hard wood door way next to us. The scene was cut and I checked on my phone only to see it had a spider Web of cracks over half the screen. It's still usable but with a crack like this 1 wrong move and it's out for the count.
I didn't blow up about it cus I could tell he felt sorry it happened, and as soon as he saw it was broken Jake immediately went on amazon to find a replacement screen. He found 1 for little over £15 but after I pointed out that I had no idea how to attach it, he said "you can taking it to a shop and they'll probably do it for free" I wasn't convinced by this so he tuck me to a phone repair shop to get a quate on how much it would cost to fix. They quoted £60 including screen and £30 if we bort our own but with no garenty it would work out as it wouldn't be from their supplier. Jake isn't out right refusesing to pay but he seems very convinced that they are trying to rip us off as is not the £15 for screen and free service he was hoping for (not sure why he expected that tbh) I told him I would take it to some local shops in my area and see if we can't get a cheeper price. He's agreed to this but I can't help feeling that he may not pay up if its anything over £20 to fix.
Part of me wonders if I'm the AH for expecting Jake to pay up in the first place as it was technically me that broke it by dropping it. But at the same time I feel that it could have been avoided if A. He'd sorted out a prop phone from the get go and/or B. He'd done a proper risk assessment on the potential damage that could happen in that scene. A big thing I have yet to mention is through all the scenes we've done so far he hasn't done any risk assessments. Not only for my phone stunt scene but also for a scene where my character is pooring Boiling (actual boiling water cus he wanted to see the steam) water into a mug and missed it entirely.(i manged to talk him into putting towle under me to catch the splash back that would have happened on the vinal flooring I was standing on. Protecting not just me but the crew as well)myself and crew also manged to talk him out of having me throwing a glass cup at the wall as I was surounded by the crew and had no where to throw it without someone getting hit by shards of glass.
Every time myself or the crew would ask if he's done a risk assessment on a scene Jake would say "I'll do it later". Suffice to say it's not been entirely safe and I think I'm intitaled to not have to pay for the repairs on my phone when it could of/ should of been avoided but I'm not sure. So AITA?

- Cheers dun sa matandang QUAT na kakilala namin na binati pa rin kami pagdating namin sa lokal, unlike dun sa mga marites pagdating namin sa taas.

Hi, i am an Indian student(Rosita). I live at Canada.
I want to tell you a story and she literally knows how to take advantage of people and talk sweet to them till it is needed.(i have changed the names).
oh, boy were do I start. I know this girl( Red Skull) from India, we met through FB right before coming to Canada.she was in same course as i was and she sound friendly (or i thought she is friendly).
for the first semester we never had that much communication just like 4-5 call for entier semester. because she had in-person class and i had online classes
now in second semester me and her both hed in-person class but in diffrent section, she is in section 3, and i was in section 2. but we meet all the time. we hangout at tim's and talk.i also met other girl named "daisy". she is nice and she is also in my section. she also knew red skull.
i am good at programming, Doing Assignment and preparing proper documents.
so helped both daisy and red skull.
now i help red skull little more like doing her entier assignmets helping in mid term and doing her final project part like those are lots of work. but i help her because that friends do.
she also came once when i needed help to the docters.
during the second semester there was other girl name "dora". she also in our cource but she wasn in diffrent section and i did not knew her.ok one of the bad think about red skull she always bed mouth every person she now in her life even her parents. like when daisy mot their she bitch about her in front of me and if i am not there she bithch about me infront of daisy.
now lets com to dora i did not know who dora is and how she is but before i talked or meet her she bad mouth her like she is mean and selfish every one is telling me why you talking to dora.after hearing all of this i was like exactly if you don't like a person don't talk to that person.
but she is like no one like her so doing all these as a pity. i was like okay.these all things took place in the second semester. during that she also came to my place and slept to my roommates bad. i also went to her house for "help in her assignment"(like doing it) and come home and never stay with her.
during that period we also decided to change our house like we used to live in different places. so me, daisy and Red Skull decided to live together.me and Red Skull in one room and in the other daisy and her husband. whenever we get mail from any rental service provider(she only gave her own) she says that she is gonna show us a mail but never forwards it. Which i found very weird at that time but I slide it and never gave so much thought.
now all ready told our old lease owner that we are leaving that place and we had not found a place. So there was a girl in my class name " Diana " she told me she looking for two roommates. so we tell daisy that we(me and red skull) are thinking of moving with Diana. Daisy was very supportive and said ok.
now we finalize that we are gonna move with Diana. She puted some rulses like no nonveg (eggs are allowed) we Agree to that. and the Apartment was in the same building but different Tower-2(i was in Tower 1) where i was living. and the same tower as Dora lives. our Apartment is in 16th floor and dora lives in 17th.now the only thing was that the house gonna available at the middle of the month and we did not have the place to stay so i stayed at my brothers' friend's house and she stayed with Dora whom she always bad-mouthed. I was in shock at her at first because i also told her to live with me but she refuse.
now dora lives with other roommates so she told her to pay some rent to live for 15 days which is fair because other roomates might object and for staying friend for so long and free. when she was moving to her apartment, i came to help her to take all her stuff up to the apartment and all and then after all that she came to my Appartment wich was in tower 1. ahe stayed night with me i ask her to help me pack because i was ganna move the next day, but she change the topic by dishing about the DORA and her roommates.
here real story starts
now after 15 days, we all move to our apartment.(and we were friends)and we are five people. we didnt unbox our thing so for very first day i order food online(remember this).(let me tell you one think about me that i am a text-book people pleaser and asking for anything even though I also paid for, it's hard for me)
and one of the days from one week she ask our lease owner for some space to keep my stuff and her stuff. they gave us one big shelf for our spices and stuff, one entier big two-shelf section, one small literally tiny three-shelf section(two taller and one qube), one big shelf for our kitchen accessories, and space below the oven space. which was okay because we are five people and we are sharing the kitchen.
now this took place at night i was eating and Red Skull started putting her stuff into the drawer before dividing the space between us. I was there looking at all of it. like she took a spice shelf, one entier big two-shelf section and more then half (one big shelf for our kitchen accessories) and one tall self and bottom self which easy to reach from tiny three-shelf section(two taller and one qube) and sheleft me with space below the oven, two tiny shelf which are har to reach for me as i am short and less then half in the kitchen Assecor shelf.
now she was my friend and i thought she need more space so i let go that think.but that's my mistake because after that she started making trouble
now time passed and I found out that she already asked for the other half of the top shelf and the lease owner thought that was both of us. and I wasn't aware of it at all.
when i confront her that i already have little space if ask for space why didn't you tell me.
she said and oi quate"I ask for me why should i tell you that i ask for space" i was in shock that she was nice to every time and friends dont talk this way. so i had little argument with her but i let go of it and we makeup that time. and latter I ask the lease owner for space and they provide me one.
now days pass she talk to as she please but i never put so much thought to it.
she always didnt like other 3 roommates. i always told her that not every person are same we have to adjust some time but god knows she never did.
i remember one day she went in to shower its already been 30 min. and one of our roommate hed the interview she knock to the bathroom door and told her that "I have the interview can you please come out as soon as possible i going to be late so please come out as fast as possible". I clearly remember she took more 45 min in the bathroom. at this point my other Roommate got pissed and stamped to the bathroom door. and she had to live without using washroom.
Now Red Skull came out from the bathroom and even though i was listening to everything i pretended i did not. she directly came to me and said that
"did you heard?"
"no what happen"
"these people have no manners."
and i was like really she needed the bathroom she had the interview and you have nothing to do the whole day and you are talking about her behavior.
and this incident also happened with my other roommate she had an appointment because she did not spare her too.
after all of these i always try to include her in all-girls(Roommate) activity, I always try to force her to play game with other. because thats how you know the other person by doing Activity with them.
Red Skull also has some plants and she put them at windows(small shelf space at windows) not near, up or down and someone had moved her plant to open one of the and she told everyone "It is your responsibility to tell if you move it"
all of like ok that's reasonable. but in our room, she started moving my stuff. I never had any guts to tell people off so i didnt say any thig.
and that was our third semester was running and as dum i am i also help her for 6 week assignment in sem-3.
after all of that happened and as days pass we are no longer friends. and guess what who is her new best friend is DORA...
and i called Daisy and told her everything that this is how she is behaving and that day she finaly told me that when shifted to that place the very first day she call me and tell me that "Rosita order food online i don't want to cook with her and all"
I did not had a part-time job, so i asked my friend to help me. I helped red skull so she could go for a part-time interview and refer me if she got a chance.
but Daisy told me that "red skull told me to refer one of her friends instead of YOU(me)...."
i was like really in Shock. After that, I realized how mean, selfish, and backstabber is "RED SKULL."
time passed she started doing annoying stuff like,eating in room and never clean it
she talked to her friends for late night in room while i am sleeping(i always talk out in hall while she is sleeping because it's disrespectful.) and i never dared to tell her to go out and talk.
she keep our room at 30 30-degree temperature i know in winter you feel cold but this much temperature is too much. and she also keep windows and door close there is no way for air to come in. and its hard to brath in that kind of room. and apart from this she also bought portable heater for extra heat.
one time we bought same company yogurt and we opened that same day while we both cooking at the same time. I clearly remember keeping the packaging foil as it is and putting to way my side. leter that day i open fridge and show that my yogurt is not there where i put it and i see that she took my yogurt and put it to her side. and i also checked and that one was with foil all this think i show to my other roommate and after that i asked her if she have seen my Yogurt or she got confused but she said "I had put my yogurt at my place." So i thought I might miss judge it so i write my name on lid of the yogurt box without foil so it dont get mix.
but at next day i found out that she again after using yogurt she change the lid and i got my foil yogert box back. and thank god i had proof that i show all these to my roommate.
one day i had an assignment discussion with my friend(daisy) for 2 minutes at 2 o'clock and she was sleeping i told my friend that we will chat about it becaus she is sleeping.
now that night, I was sleeping and she started talking to her friends on the phone loud and laughing. so I told her to go out and talk as i was sleeping She said "You were also taking as i was sleeping today"
"That was one time and you always talk in the room and that was like 2 min."
"I always talk out side or room and i am tired of you"
and at this point, i explode and no matter how much i tell her that you are sharing a room she just doesn't get it.
so we had the biggest argument and the lease owner had to get involved.
so we all sit together and discuss that when they tell us that we can not talk on the phone while someone is sleeping She is like "I always talk outside after 12 o'clock. and this is Canada no one at 10 o'clock. and my friend will come to tell you that i talk out side." thank got i had people witness as i every time complin at night like she is talk in the room while i am sleeping.
so they tell her that she is completely wring you always talk in the phone while she is trying to sleep. and we decided a time that after 10:30 no one talk on the phoneand also about the temperature and eating. and everything sort out.
we all move on but no no no she didn't.She have these annoying habit and she brag abou this in front of me earlier and that i am gonna tell you now...the very next day she waks up and i had online lecture so i woke up and attended my lecture in my room. during the lecture we had brake so i removed my headphones. as i removed my headphone i heard RED SKULL voice she was speaking so loudly.Oky i know she dont link me off course she will talk bad about me , we all do for those people whom we dont like. but she talk on phone while that people around her, after shorting all things out. and this is not the first time that happens she also done this type of behavior with me, but i kept ignoring but this time I also Shout and talk on the phone and bad mouth her. but belive me it feel not good how did she do it i dont know.
okay now this is my story i know its long but belive me i skip some incidence...

Red Skull also has some plants and she put them at windows(small shelf space at windows) not near, up or down and someone had moved her plant to open one of the and she told everyone "It is your responsibility to tell if you move it"
all of like ok that's reasonable. but in our room, she started moving my stuff. I never had any guts to tell people off so i didnt say any thig.
and that was our third semester was running and as dum i am i also help her for 6 week assignment in sem-3.
after all of that happened and as days pass we are no longer friends. and guess what who is her new best friend is DORA...
and i called Daisy and told her everything that this is how she is behaving and that day she finaly told me that when shifted to that place the very first day she call me and tell me that "Rosita order food online i don't want to cook with her and all"
I did not had a part-time job, so i asked my friend to help me. I helped red skull so she could go for a part-time interview and refer me if she got a chance.
but Daisy told me that "red skull told me to refer one of her friends instead of YOU(me)...."
i was like really in Shock. After that, I realized how mean, selfish, and backstabber is "RED SKULL."
time passed she started doing annoying stuff like,eating in room and never clean it
she talked to her friends for late night in room while i am sleeping(i always talk out in hall while she is sleeping because it's disrespectful.) and i never dared to tell her to go out and talk.
she keep our room at 30 30-degree temperature i know in winter you feel cold but this much temperature is too much. and she also keep windows and door close there is no way for air to come in. and its hard to brath in that kind of room. and apart from this she also bought portable heater for extra heat.
one time we bought same company yogurt and we opened that same day while we both cooking at the same time. I clearly remember keeping the packaging foil as it is and putting to way my side. leter that day i open fridge and show that my yogurt is not there where i put it and i see that she took my yogurt and put it to her side. and i also checked and that one was with foil all this think i show to my other roommate and after that i asked her if she have seen my Yogurt or she got confused but she said "I had put my yogurt at my place." So i thought I might miss judge it so i write my name on lid of the yogurt box without foil so it dont get mix.
but at next day i found out that she again after using yogurt she change the lid and i got my foil yogert box back. and thank god i had proof that i show all these to my roommate.
one day i had an assignment discussion with my friend(daisy) for 2 minutes at 2 o'clock and she was sleeping i told my friend that we will chat about it becaus she is sleeping.
now that night, I was sleeping and she started talking to her friends on the phone loud and laughing. so I told her to go out and talk as i was sleeping She said "You were also taking as i was sleeping today"
"That was one time and you always talk in the room and that was like 2 min."
"I always talk out side or room and i am tired of you"
and at this point, i explode and no matter how much i tell her that you are sharing a room she just doesn't get it.
so we had the biggest argument and the lease owner had to get involved.
so we all sit together and discuss that when they tell us that we can not talk on the phone while someone is sleeping She is like "I always talk outside after 12 o'clock. and this is Canada no one at 10 o'clock. and my friend will come to tell you that i talk out side." thank got i had people witness as i every time complin at night like she is talk in the room while i am sleeping.
so they tell her that she is completely wring you always talk in the phone while she is trying to sleep. and we decided a time that after 10:30 no one talk on the phoneand also about the temperature and eating. and everything sort out.
we all move on but no no no she didn't.She have these annoying habit and she brag abou this in front of me earlier and that i am gonna tell you now...the very next day she waks up and i had online lecture so i woke up and attended my lecture in my room. during the lecture we had brake so i removed my headphones. as i removed my headphone i heard RED SKULL voice she was speaking so loudly.Oky i know she dont link me off course she will talk bad about me , we all do for those people whom we dont like. but she talk on phone while that people around her, after shorting all things out. and this is not the first time that happens she also done this type of behavior with me, but i kept ignoring but this time I also Shout and talk on the phone and bad mouth her. but belive me it feel not good how did she do it i dont know.

I have a very straightforward aim offset configured for the default mannequin, and the character is holding a rifle in a socket in the right hand. When I debug, I can see that the two rotations I'm worried about are correct - the AI's desired aim and its current aimpoint are spot on.
The problem is that, the rifle (and socket) are never in line with the aim offset (screenshot of issue), with the exception of times when the target is right in front of the AI.

We have a policy in my department that if there is no hot water at a restaurant it is an automatic closure. I am curious how common that is, and what is the rational? A restaurant had room temp water available at the hand sink, and a booster on the dishwasher so wash and rinse temps were still fine for sanitizing equipment and utensils. They were using a commercial premixed quat spray for sanitizing surfaces. So where is the hazard? Why do they have to close?
Regional regulation requires hot water so obviously can't operate long term without hot water. But I am not understanding why immediate closure is needed. Am I missing something?

My first step to solve this was to represent dV in terms of the unit vectors along dy_i, dy^i. This was done using the following formula (note the contraction of mismatched indices):
dy^i = \frac{\partial x_j}{\partial y_i}dy_i e_j
Then to construct dV using a cross and dot product:
dV = dy^1 * (dy^2 x dy^3)
Which (after some algebra) reduces to:
dV = \epsilon_{ijk}l_{i1}l_{j2}l_{j3} dy_1 dy_2 dy_3
Now, the solution is obtained if \epsilon_{ijk}l_{i1}l_{j2}l_{j3}==1. To check that I first went to wikipedia and manually computed the contraction for a simple rotation matrix around x^i axes gave 1 and it did. But I still was not sure if that would work for any rotation matrix. So I wrote a python script (below) that creates an arbitrary rotation matrix to check that the result is 1 (which it is for the cases I tested):

On Thursday night I was closing the bar as usual. The spray bottles at the place I work are opaque and filled with a multi-quat sanitizer that’s supposed to be diluted. About halfway through closing my eye starts getting irritated and I’m thinking I must have gotten some dirt or an eye lash in it so I stopped cleaning to go to the bathroom and check it out. So I’m inspecting my eye for a hot minute and don’t see anything in it and figure I will just go back to cleaning and see if the invisible debris works it’s way out on it’s own. Fast forward to my drive home and my eye is itching and watering like crazy. I get home and put a hot towel on it and intermittently try to blink while running water into it to see if I can get whatever the hell was in it to come out. I eventually gave up and went to sleep with the warm compress sitting on it. When I woke up this morning my eye was swollen shut with sticky mucus leaking out of it and crust glueing my eyelids together (gross, I know). So I’m kinda freaking out like wth did I somehow get pink eye? But upon ungluing my eyelid I start to notice a burn right next to the affected eye and several more on my arms and chest. I go the the hospital and they confirm it’s a chemical burn and start flushing my eye with saline and all this other stuff ect.. meanwhile I’m texting my boss asking what they had in the spray bottles which was monogram 22-quart multi-quat sanitizer. Then it dawns on me that at this particular restaurant I’ve never seen these bottles hooked up the the hoses where you push the button and it dilutes it to the correct concentration. Anyways my vision is effed up bad, I’m missing work the, damage is likely irreversible and I’m contemplating calling a lawyer. Any similar stories or advice? Also it’s 3 am so sorry if this is long winded and grammatically incorrect.

Hi, i discovered it is possible to use OpenComposite and OpenXR to have the hand tracking on Assetto Corsa, and at the same time GAIN PERFORMANCE! Tested on my Oculus Quest 2. You will need a Developer account on Meta, you can see how here https://mbucchia.github.io/OpenXR-Toolkit/hand-tracking.html
You will need to read the 4th paragraph of the page linked above, named "Using with Oculus Quest and Quest 2", this will guide you on how to enable Developer and experimental features on your Quest 2, otherwise the hand tracking option in the OpenXR menu wont show at all.
VirtualDesktop brings a performance impact so big that makes the game unplayable on high settings (of course with the Quest 2, cuz with OpenVR it's forced to use SteamVR).
I found the way to use hand tracking with OpenVR and still play at max settings, with ppfilter on.
First, you need to download OpenXR Toolkit and install it. You can find it on GitHub.
Second, you need to download OpenComposite. Open it and select "switch to OpenComposite".
Start Content Manager and in CSP settings, under vr tweaks, put "OpenComposite compatible" on "yes, original version", then in assetto corsa settings, select OpenVR as rendering mode.
Now, if you open the game, press Control F2 and go under "input", you will find hand controller emulation or something similar, put it on "both". If the game started with SteamVR, you did something wrong. Remember to put Oculus as default OpenXR runtime in the Oculus app settings.
Restart the game. The next time it starts, it will crash. That's because you need to put a configuration file in the folder "\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Local\OpenXR-Toolkit\configs".

If the hands are twisted or their orientation is wrong, use the "mappingtool.exe" inside the OpenXR installation folder. You can load the config file inside "\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Local\OpenXR-Toolkit\configs" and edit the orientation and offsets. You also can edit the file with the mappingtool while in-game, just make a change and press "push all settings".
I managed to make it work, but it is possible that i missed a step. Also remember to turn on the driver hands, or you can play with the hand skeleton provided by OpenXR. Personally i prefer the second option. I hope it will work for you too, enjoy!
Edit: i forgot to mention that by using OpenXR instead of VirtualDesktop, my fps went from 30 with low settings, to steady 72 (the quest 2 refresh rate) with max graphics.

Hi, i discovered it is possible to use OpenComposite and OpenXR to have the hand tracking on Assetto Corsa, and at the same time GAIN PERFORMANCE! Tested on my Oculus Quest 2. You will need a Developer account on Meta, you can see how here https://mbucchia.github.io/OpenXR-Toolkit/hand-tracking.html
You will need to read the 4th paragraph of the page linked above, named "Using with Oculus Quest and Quest 2", this will guide you on how to enable Developer and experimental features on your Quest 2, otherwise the hand tracking option in the OpenXR menu wont show at all.
VirtualDesktop brings a performance impact so big that makes the game unplayable on high settings (of course with the Quest 2, cuz with OpenVR it's forced to use SteamVR).
I found the way to use hand tracking with OpenVR and still play at max settings, with ppfilter on.
First, you need to download OpenXR Toolkit and install it. You can find it on GitHub.
Second, you need to download OpenComposite. Open it and select "switch to OpenComposite".
Start Content Manager and in CSP settings, under vr tweaks, put "OpenComposite compatible" on "yes, original version", then in assetto corsa settings, select OpenVR as rendering mode.
Now, if you open the game, press Control F2 and go under "input", you will find hand controller emulation or something similar, put it on "both". If the game started with SteamVR, you did something wrong. Remember to put Oculus as default OpenXR runtime in the Oculus app settings.
Restart the game. The next time it starts, it will crash. That's because you need to put a configuration file in the folder "\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Local\OpenXR-Toolkit\configs".

Current status
We have a good idea how fractureiser works, from stages 0 to 3. There are certain unknowns, but stage 0 bootstrapping was quickly nipped and tomorrow we’ll be moving our focus to mitigation. As a plan, we’ve contacted Mojang and will likely be working with teams to get detection software distributed and integrated into CurseForge and Modrinth, as well as considering integration in launchers like Prism, and mod loaders like Fabric and Forge. It is also worthwhile to run this detection software on mod distribution mavens, as it’s possible some have become infected.Most of the current team responsible for updating this doc is tired and going to bed (as of 02:46a Pacific time). Others are continuing to reverse engineer stage 3.

Non-technical overview [READ ME!]
A number of Curseforge and dev.bukkit.org (not the Bukkit software itself) accounts were compromised, and malicious software was injected into copies of many popular plugins and mods. Some of these malicious copies have been injected into popular modpacks including Better Minecraft. There are reports of malicious plugin/mod JARs as early as mid-April.This malware is composed of multiple “stages”, each stage is responsible for downloading and running the next one. In total, there are three known stages (Stages 1, 2, and 3), with infected mod files serving as a “Stage 0” to kick the whole process off.
Stage 3 is the “mastermind” of the malware, and we have evidence that it attempts to do all of the following:
- Propagate itself to all jar files on the filesystem, possibly infecting mods that were not downloaded from CurseForge or BukkitDev
- Steal cookies and login information for many web browsers
- Replace cryptocurrency addresses in the clipboard with alternates that are presumably owned by the attacker
- Steal Discord credentials
- Steal Microsoft and Minecraft credentials
Because of its behavior, we are very confident this is a targeted attack against the modded Minecraft ecosystem. It’s quite bad.
Until further notice, exercise extreme caution with Minecraft mod downloads, regardless of origin. While the control server for this malware is currently offline, any download from Curseforge or the Bukkit plugin repository in the last 2-3 weeks should be treated as potentially malicious. This malware is unlikely to be detected by Windows Defender or similar antimalware products.
If you have downloaded any mods from Curseforge, or plugins from Bukkit, even through clients such as Prism Launcher or the official Curseforge launcher, it is recommended that you follow the “Am I infected?” guide below.
The affected accounts had two-factor authentication enabled. This is not a simple password compromise situation. Multiple accounts are affected.
Right now, the malware is dormant due to the loss of its C&C server and the Stage0 (what was distributed via mods and modpacks) not having a way to get a new server. If you were infected with Stage2 (the file described below, dropped by Stage1 when C&C was up), then the malware is still active.
Am I infected?
You can check whether the malware ever ran on your computer, since Stage1 attempts to save Stage 2 at several unusual paths:- Linux: ~/.config/.data/lib.jar
- Windows: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft Edge\libWebGL64.jar (or ~\AppData\Local\Microsoft Edge\libWebGL64.jar )
- Make sure to show hidden files when checking
- Yes, “Microsoft Edge” with a space. MicrosoftEdge is the legitimate directory used by actual Edge.
- Also check the registry for an entry at HKEY_CURRENT_USER:\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
- Or a shortcut in %appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
- All other OSes: Unaffected. The malware is hardcoded for Windows and Linux only. It is possible it will receive an update adding payloads for other OSes in the future.
Before downloading, the malware will create the enclosing directory if it does not exist. Windows/MS Edge does not use the “Microsoft Edge”-with-a-space directory, and Linux software does not use ~/.config/.data , so these folders existing is a likely sign that Stage1 has executed on a victim computer.
If you find these files, you should delete them immediately, but consider all JAR files on your system compromised, and potentially all logins on your web browser as well. Passwords should be changed.
Given a jar file, how do I know if it’s safe?
There are various heuristics you can use to determine whether a jar is infected with Stage 0.Emi’s shell script here simply checks for all usages of ClassLoader , which is uncommon in mod code. This can lead to false positives and negatives. For example, it falsely flags the latest Quark 1.19 file as infected when it is not.
Sylv’s shell script here does a bit more fingerprint matching for the malware, and should be more precise.
As a non-technical user, your best course of action is to check if your system was affected using the above steps, remediating if necessary, and refraining from downloading anything from CurseForge or dev.bukkit.org until further notice.

Distribution
Some modpacks have had updates published for them without the knowledge of the authors, adding a dependency on malicious mods. These modpack updates were archived immediately after uploading, meaning they do not show on the web UI, only via the API.The malicious mods have upload dates multiple weeks in the past. Most of them were uploaded by single-use accounts with clearly autogenerated names, and were likely the seed of the infection. Luna Pixel Studios was compromised due to a dev testing one of these mods, as it was an interesting new upload. The fact Curse let these mods uploaded by a new account through is pretty bad and speaks to their now-nonexistent content moderation.

Stage0 (Infected mod jars)
Affected mods or plugins have a new static void method inserted into their main class, and a call to this method is inserted into that class’s static initializer. For DungeonZ, the method is named _d1385bd3c36f464882460aa4f0484c53 and exists in net.dungeonz.DungeonzMain . For Skyblock Core, the method is named _f7dba6a3a72049a78a308a774a847180 and is inserted into com.bmc.coremod.BMCSkyblockCore . For HavenElytra, the code is inserted directly into the otherwise-unused static initializer of valorless.havenelytra.HavenElytra .The method’s code is obfuscated, using new String(new byte[]{...}) instead of string literals.
From Shadowex3’s sample of “Create Infernal Expansion Plus”, a copycat version of “Create Infernal Expansion Compat” with malware inserted into the main mod class:

The creation of the classloader is hardcoded to that URL and does not use the Cloudflare URL that Stage 1 does. As that IP is now offline, this means the Stage 0 payloads we are presently aware of no longer function.
Stage1 (dl.jar)

The very first thing Utility.run does is check if the system property neko.run is set. If it is, it will immediately stop executing. If not, it sets it to the empty string and continues. This appears to be a very simplistic way of avoiding the same process running the malware multiple times, such as if it had multiple infected mods. This cannot be relied upon as a killswitch because Stage1 is downloaded from the Internet and may change.
It attempts to contact 85.217.144.130 , and a Cloudflare Pages domain (https://[files-8ie.pages.dev]/ip ). Yes, people have already reported abuse. The Pages domain is used to retrieve the IP of the C&C server if the first IP no longer responds — the URL responds with a 4 byte file which is just a binary IPv4 address.
The C&C IP has been nullrouted after an abuse report to the server provider. We will need to keep an eye on the Cloudflare page to see if a new C&C server is stood up, I can’t imagine they didn’t plan for this. Thank you Serverion for your prompt response.
Stage 1 then attempts to achieve persistence by doing the following:
- Downloading stage 2 (lib.jar on Linux, libWebGL64.jar on Windows) from the server
- Making stage 2 run automatically on startup:
- On Linux, it tries placing systemd unit files in /etc/systemd/system or ~/.config/systemd/user
- The unit file it places in the user folder never works, because it tries using multi-user.target , which doesn’t exist for user units
- On Windows, it attempts to modify the registry to start itself, or failing that, tries adding itself to the Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup folder
Stage2 (lib.jar or libWebGL64.jar)

- Steal Microsoft account credentials
- Scan for all JAR files on the system that look like Minecraft mods (by detecting Forge/Fabric/Quilt/Bukkit) and attempt to inject stage 0 into them
- Steal cookies and login information for many web browsers
- Replace cryptocurrency addresses in the clipboard with alternates that are presumably owned by the attacker
- Steal Discord credentials
- Steal Microsoft and Minecraft credentials, from a variety of launchers
- Steal crypto wallets
- Forge (dev/neko/e/e/e/A): The malware attempts to locate the u/Mod annotation, which is required in every mod
- Bukkit (dev/neko/e/e/e/C): The malware checks if a class extends Bukkit’s JavaPlugin class
- Fabric/Quilt (dev/neko/e/e/e/i): The malware checks if a class implements ModInitializer
- Bungee (dev/neko/e/e/e/l): The malware checks if a class extends Bungee’s Plugin class
- Vanilla (dev/neko/e/e/e/c): The malware checks if the main client class net.minecraft.client.main.Main exists

The main payload server
Other than an HTTP server on port 80/443 and an SSH server on port 22, the following ports were open on 85.217.144.130 :
- 1337
- 1338 (a port referenced in stage 1’s file for creating new Debugger connection)
- 8081 (this is a WebSocket server - no apparent function right now, not referenced in any malicious code)
- 8082 (nobody’s gotten anything out of this one, not referenced in any malicious code)
- 8083 (contacted by stage 1)
Follow-Ups
While it’s a bit early to speak of long term follow-ups, this whole debacle has brought up several critical flaws in the modded Minecraft ecosystem. This section is just brainstorming on them and how we can improve.- Review at mod repositories is inadequate What exactly does CurseForge and Modrinth do when “reviewing” a mod? We should know as a community, instead of relying on security through obscurity. Should be we be running some sort of static analysis? (williewillus has a few ideas here)
- A lack of code signing for mods Unlike the software industry at large, mods released and uploaded to repositories are usually not signed with a signing key that proves that the owner of the key uploaded the mod. Having signing and a separate key distribution/trust mechanism mitigates compromise of CurseForge accounts. However, this then leads to the greater issue of how to derive key trust, as the fact that “this jar has this signature” has to be communicated out of band from CurseForge/Modrinth, in a standard way so that loaders or users can verify the signatures. Forge tried to introduce signing many years ago and it had limited uptake.
- A lack of reproducible builds Minecraft toolchains are a mess, and builds are usually not reproducible. It is common to have buildscripts fetching unpinned -SNAPSHOT versions of random Gradle plugins and using them, which results in artifacts that are non-reproducible and thus non-auditable. A random Gradle plugin being a future attack vector is not out of the question.
- Lack of sandboxing of Minecraft itself Java edition modding has always had the full power of Java, and this is the other side of that double-edged sword: malicious code has far-reaching impact. Minecraft itself is not run with any sandboxing, and servers usually are not sandboxed unless the owner is knowledgeable enough to do so.

Been lifting PPL 3x a week up until last summer when i switched to PPL 5x a week. 2 years ago i started on creatine and bulked up to 80kg and cut back down to 66kg in the span of a year. Been lean bulking ever since. For the last year i have been eating 3700 kcals a day and 170g protein.
My lifts have gone up steadily. I feel like i push myself hard every workout. Barbell Bench max i think is around 95kg. Haven't maxed quats and DL. Mainly focusing on hypertrophy but am i missing something? Why am i not bigger? Are my genetics that bad?

My lifts have gone up steadily. I feel like i push myself hard every workout. Barbell Bench max i think is around 95kg. Haven't maxed quats and DL. Mainly focusing on hypertrophy but am i missing something? Why am i not bigger? Are my genetics that bad?
