Reviewing my PS experience (rhinoplasty + fat grafting at Miho) in Seoul, Korea (including consults with other clinics + My Seoul Secret)

2024.03.20 00:30 peachymisa Reviewing my PS experience (rhinoplasty + fat grafting at Miho) in Seoul, Korea (including consults with other clinics + My Seoul Secret)

Hi everyone, I wanted to share my experience getting rhinoplasty and fat grafting in South Korea. I am an Asian female in my 20s (born and residing in America) who had no prior knowledge of PS.
TLDR **Another recap is located at the very end*\*
-I did research using purse forum, Gangnam unni, Reddit, and tiktok for the Rhino only
-I stayed at an Airbnb near Braun, and even though I didn't end up going to this clinic moving with Uber was easy
-I booked in-person consults and put surgery deposits down for Hyundai, Braun, and Miho
-I felt 50/50 about Hyundai's doc, but the practice put me off entirely
-Braun felt like I was just another international nose
-Miho was amazing from the consultation to the surgery to follow-up and in between. The attention to detail, genuineness, and care were everything I was looking for. I went with Miho for my rhino, decided to get a fat graft there, and would rate their clinic as 10/10.
RESEARCH:
I used purseforum to find clinics that were blacklisted (which I obviously avoided) or had good reviews for a certain body part (I was looking for a rhino specialist). I also used it to educate myself on what getting a rhino was like (physically and emotionally), how to prepare for it, and other helpful tips and tricks. I read detailed reviews of other people’s PS experiences in Seoul. Gangnam Unni is a Korean plastic surgery app that has clinic reviews and specific pictures of the doctor’s work. This was super helpful to see what sort of individual style each doctor has– for example, some doctors tend to create more natural noses while others have a more dramatic or dolly style.
WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR:
My nose has a hump and points downwards and is a little bulbous at the tip. My nostrils are very circular and to me, feel big. I always felt like my feminine personality and the rest of my features were “clouded” by my bigger, masculine nose. I wanted to find a doctor who, on a scale from natural to dramatic, erred on the more dolly side while creating a nose that still fit my face and my other features.
CLINICS:
The first clinic I found was Braun through their YouTube channel (they are a huge clinic known for FC and rhino, and advertises heavily to foreigners) and I ended up booking my Airbnb close to the clinic, with them as my #1 preference initially. I then found Hyundai Aesthetics, a smaller clinic, which I picked for their natural nose style and the fact that they quoted me about a grand in USD cheaper than Braun. I thought it would be good to have both a large and small clinic. I found Miho Clinic through Gangnam unni at the last minute because of the good reviews and Dr. Yoon Sukho’s natural and dolly nose style. They were the priciest option, but they also gave me the most detailed information via the initial info exchange on WhatsApp. Of the 3 clinics, Miho was the only one who sent me paragraphs about what the doctor recommended doing, procedure-wise, and it sounded like the doctor was actively looking at my pictures while doing so. On the other hand, the other two clinics simply said “hump removal, tip plasty, alar reduction”, etc. I talked to all 3 clinics through WhatsApp and booked all 3 consults for the same day– the day that I landed in Seoul. I made the “newbie mistake” of putting down a deposit for all 3 clinics to secure my surgery date before even having the consultation, but I’m glad I did this because I wanted to have the safety net of getting to choose any clinic after the in-person consult. I also wanted the full ~2 weeks to recover before flying back to the States. Despite the jetlag, I’m glad I front-loaded the consults and surgery.
TRANSLATOFOREIGNER HELP IN SEOUL:
I found My Seoul Secret through a few purse forum users. I am INCREDIBLY grateful for their help– the ownefounder, Jeet, is SO kind and helpful, and it helped to alleviate all of the stress of traveling to a foreign country where you don’t speak the language. The rhino was stressful enough, and I didn’t want to worry about other stuff too. I booked airport pick-up, translator services for my 3 consults, virtual assistance for the first week, and pre-packed meals to be delivered to my Airbnb. The airport pick-up was very smooth; I found my driver holding my name on a sign as we left baggage claim. The translator I could not say enough positive things about– she was very fluent in both English and Korean, and I knew that I could trust her immediately after meeting her. She translated so accurately that the English/Korean-speaking consultant at Miho said that he was impressed with her precision and that she was among the best he’d ever seen. He said that many translators have trouble with medical terminology (she had taken a course on translating medical terminology), or end up changing the meaning of the word when they don’t know how to translate something. But she didn’t do any of that, and I had full confidence in her to communicate my many questions and concerns to the doctors/nurses/consultants at the clinics. Even though all three clinics “technically” provided English-speaking consultants, I wasn't sure HOW precise their translations would be, and I wanted to have that other person there just in case. I’m glad I did this because Hyundai’s consultant barely spoke English and Braun’s consultant knew basic English but I doubted his ability to translate with precision. I ended up doing all three consultations the same way, with my translator being the main bridge between me and the doctor. I would highly recommend getting a translator to ensure that your surgical needs and questions are communicated with utmost precision to the doctor. After my surgery, Jeet would text me and ask if I had questions and check on my overall well-being. I think that he as a person is awesome and the whole business model is great, and I would highly recommend them if you want a sort of “guardian angel” figure to de-stress a foreign country.
CONSULTS:
Hyundai Aesthetics–
My first consult was at Hyundai Aesthetics with Dr. Kim Jung Gu. I met my translator there, and the “English-speaking” consultant (poor English, difficult to get points across to) brought me into a room to do my CT scan. Then, we went into an office where I told her about my overall goals with my rhinoplasty. She took some notes and then the doctor came in and poked and prodded at my nose a lot. He lifted my nostrils with two Q-tips and showed me what kind of shape he could give me. He gave me an option to do the surgery without silicone if I wanted. I had pictures compiled on my iPad of noses I liked from the front, side, and nostril angles, so I showed him those. I also had pictures of what I didn’t want my nose to look like (too pointy, too piggy, etc.). He pointed out that some of the noses better suited caucasian people, and he wanted to preserve that Asian nose for me. Every time I raised a concern or asked a question, the doctor would look at my face and touch my nose a bit more. He drew my final shape on his tablet and asked if I liked the shape. I said yes because it looked nice, but it didn’t look perfect, and something just didn’t feel right even though I asked all of my questions. His very short responses made me feel like I was just another surgery of the day (which I am at the end of the day) but I felt that he didn’t have enough of a personal vested interest in me. He didn’t earn my trust, and the clinic didn’t earn my trust when they said they could translate for me but the consultant spoke very poor English. My boyfriend who was with me for all the consults noticed that I wasn’t sold. There wasn’t anything glaringly wrong with the consultation, and if I had gone through with my surgery here, I probably wouldn’t have got a botched nose. However, would I get my DREAM nose? I doubt it. Would I have been more anxious during the entire process? Absolutely.
**SIDE NOTE ABOUT HYUNDAI (can disregard if not considering Hyundai)**
Since I didn’t go with them, they let me use my $100 surgery deposit towards a “vitamin treatment”, which I got 4 days after my rhinoplasty as recommended. When I arrived for my treatment, they ushered me into a room with two beds where another patient was already getting laser treatment. The nurse came in and tried to start the IV. She wasn’t wearing gloves, and she used the same alcohol pad for all the injection sites she tried– after it touched the linens they don't even change between patients, which also had mysterious stains on it. She kept touching my arm with her bare, ungloved hands after “cleaning” it with the dirty wipe. She stuck me FIVE TIMES, with lots of fishing involved. And it hurt….really bad. I was crying after she left. As an ICU nurse, I know what it’s like to properly access a vein, and I also have a fairly high pain tolerance. She blew four of my veins and when she tried to infuse the last one in my arm, it infiltrated (the needle wasn’t in my vein properly and the fluid was getting trapped in my tissue). She finally called in another nurse for help (which she should have done much earlier), and that nurse fished for a vein in my hand. At this point, I was exhausted from pain and I wanted to leave. She got that to infuse, but she wrapped a bandage around the infiltration site on the same arm so the fluid couldn’t even drip in properly. The IV in my hand hurt the whole time. This small bag could have taken 15 minutes to infuse, but it took nearly TWO hours and it hurt the whole time. I should have gotten up and left, but I was too concerned with being rude or a bad patient. They kept telling me to lay down flat on the bed, but since I just had a rhino and fat graft that is generally advised against…it made my swelling and discomfort so much worse. I told the nurse it hurt and she said that it was working fine. At the two-hour mark, I had to go to my next appointment so I had them stop the infusion even though I only got ⅔rds of it. No one said anything as I left and I felt confused and my arms and hands hurt. It hurt worse than literally anything else in the rhino process. I’d rather actually pay $100 to not experience that again. I can’t imagine if I had gotten my surgery here.
Miho– (I picked them)
Right after my consultation at Hyundai Aesthetics, we walked to Miho for my consult with the head doctor and rhino specialist Dr. Yoon Sukho. I was greeted by Kevin, the English-speaking consultant whom I had been chatting with on WhatsApp before the in-person consultation. He was very candid and likable to talk to and spoke VERY fluent English– I would have been OK without my translator here. My boyfriend asked me before any of the consults: do you like Miho the best because of the consultant, or is it actually just the doctor? I said it was mainly just the doctor, but Kevin (or any other consultant) is my lifeline to the doctor, and it’s important that I feel like I have a good relationship with them and that they care about me. The process was similar to before– we did a CT scan and then went into an office where the four of us (me, my boyfriend, translator, Kevin) chatted while waiting for the doctor to finish up a surgery. Here, the vibes already felt much better. Kevin helped me answer a ton of initial questions. He was very knowledgeable and answered my medical questions with accuracy, and asked the doctor when he wasn't sure. He joked that perhaps he talked too much, but I didn’t feel like he talked too much at all as I am an anxious person and I wanted every last insecurity to be squashed. I already felt a lot better about the whole process by the time the doctor came in. The doctor asked what the major changes I was looking for were and asked to see my reference pictures. He took his time answering my questions and I felt like I was a project that he was vesting time and energy into and not just another nose at the nose factory. For instance, when I was showing him pictures of what I did not want, he would point at them and say “What do you think is wrong about this one?” and gave me a sincere nod of understanding when I told him what I wanted. He did several sketches for me, down to the millimeter, to show me exactly what he was thinking of doing to my nose. By the time I walked out, I felt like I could do the surgery (not actually, but just because I had such a clear understanding of what was going to happen to my nose). He gave me new knowledge that I didn’t have before, such as how an alar reduction could actually inhibit my breathing and it would give my nose that pinched look that I wanted to avoid. I wanted a curve in the bridge, but he was concerned that even with a 3 mm curve it might look slightly unnatural since my forehead and chin were very flat and he didn’t want the nose to look like it was poking out. He suggested the possibility of doing fat grafting. I wasn’t familiar with this before and came to Korea set on not doing any additional procedures. However, his reasoning made complete sense and I always wondered how they achieved that dimension on Asian faces. They showed me before and after pictures similar to my case WITH and WITHOUT fat grafting, and I decided to go through with the fat graft for an additional cost. I negotiated with Kevin for my final cost and I received a discount for letting them use my pictures (eyes and mouth censored) for promotional purposes, paying in all cash, and writing a review to post on purse forum and Reddit. Kevin asked for a completely honest review and he didn’t even want to see it before I posted it. In all honesty, this didn’t impact my review at all. I was just satisfied with the level of care they provided and although I don’t want any other PS in the future, this is where I would go if I did. The doctor answered all my questions entirely and asked if I had any other concerns before leaving. I felt the “patient/doctor chemistry” that I read about before and knew in my gut that this was right. Not only did i trust the doctor and feel that all of my questions were answered thoroughly, but I knew that I liked his work enough that even IF he wasn’t listening to me I would be fairly content with a nose that was simply “his style”. We agreed on a price and decided that another doctor who specialized in facelifts was going to do my fat grafting. He worked closely with the rhino doctor and they had both been at the clinic since the beginning. The whole consult felt unrushed and sincere– this was by far the longest most in-depth consult of all the clinics.. I left the consult feeling 98% sure that I was going to pick them, and that Braun would have to drive a very hard bargain to beat them.
Braun–
Braun was my last consultation with Dr. Li Jiwon. The clinic was absolutely beautiful as it had an entire building (whereas the other clinics only had a few floors) and it had an amazing view of the city. It was all luxurious with a white granite floor and expensive-looking decor, etc. It made me feel a bit intimidated and I hoped that I would still receive the individualized attention I wanted. We did a CT scan and they insisted on doing a blood draw as well. The consultant, Min, brought us into an office to wait for the doctor. I told Min my concerns and he jotted down like 4 bullet points and then left promptly. We had to wait about 30 minutes since the doctor was running late from surgery. He clearly ran to the consult and was out of breath when he arrived, but immediately started touching my nose and making suggestions. He kept talking and then asked to see my pictures. Then he kept going on and on with what felt like a laundry list of things he wanted to change about my nose and I felt like I had to interrupt him to ask questions. He didn’t really ask for what I wanted, and quite frankly, I think the entire consultation could have been him talking nonstop for 8 minutes and then leaving if I didn’t butt in with my questions. It felt like he came into the consultation with an idea of what he wanted my nose to look like and I didn’t have much of a say otherwise. He picked a picture on my iPad (I had maybe 20 pictures) and said he was going to aim for this one, but did not ask what I liked or didn’t like about it. He also suggested shaving the sides of my bridge which no one had brought up before, and I didn’t like that idea because I thought my bridge was already skinny. I asked him if a fat graft would be beneficial to add dimension. He said yes it would be beneficial. And then he asked if I had other questions (but I was already pretty turned off to the clinic at this point). And then the consultation was over after that, with no further discussion about fat grafting at all even though he said it was beneficial. The consultant came back in to talk to me about surgery and he didn’t even know that fat graft was discussed with the doctor. My deposit here was $440 and that was money I lost and couldn’t use towards other services.
SURGERY WITH MIHO:
I ate a big breakfast in the morning and then fasted for 6 hours before surgery. I met with Kevin and both doctors right before my surgery. Kevin answered last-minute questions and we signed consent forms and talked about aftercare. The doctors came in and they marked up my face, and Dr. Yoon Sukho asked to see my rhinoplasty pictures again. He said he would aim for 3-4mm curve now that I am doing the fat graft. Before he left, he earnestly said “OK, I will do my best” (in English). After he said that in the way that he did, it felt like all my worries washed away. I was no longer jittery as I felt like I could place all my trust in him and that I made the right decision (in the clinic and to have rhino and fat graft in general). I said goodbye to my boyfriend and Kevin, and they went to get my post-op medication and pumpkin juice from the pharmacy. My boyfriend remarked on how during this time, he was just as genuine with him as he was with me, answering additional questions my boyfriend had and just chatting about Korea in general. Another consultant took me to get changed into a surgical skirt and surgical top. I went into the OR and nurses started swarming over me to get me situated before surgery. I am an ICU nurse so I was used to this process even though I didn’t understand anything they were saying. To someone unfamiliar, this part may be much more frightening, but it’s just each person doing their specific role. They started an IV on the first try, and the consultant stayed with me before I fell asleep from the Propofol. I told her I was scared and she said to not be scared. I asked her if the anesthesia had started already, and she said yes. I don’t remember anything else except waking up after the surgery. I went into the recovery room (where I was allowed to stay as long as I needed) and Kevin and my boyfriend were there with me. I was begging for ice chips and extremely groggy after the anesthesia, but as it wore off, I started feeling better and making jokes. I could sip a little bit of water and said goodbye to Kevin as we called our Uber back to the Airbnb. The first night was the hardest as I had to breathe through my mouth and I heard blood dripping in my nose as I slept. I kept waking up with dry mouth and felt horrible, but it was about what I expected after preparing myself mentally.
DAY AFTER SURGERY CHECK-UP: The nurse removed the cotton inside my nose (felt like tampons stuffed up there) but I still couldn’t breathe through my nose yet. The cotton gauze under my nose with drenched in blood so she changed that and taught me how to change it myself too. She taught me how to clean my sutures and apply ointment, 4 times a day. She also gave me an antibiotic injection and de-swelling treatment. I had sutures on my legs from the fat graft, so she checked that as well. They told me I could shower in two more days as long as I kept my face dry and sutures dry. Two days later, I took a neck-down shower with waterproof bandages and my boyfriend washed my hair which helped me feel better. I can’t imagine doing this alone…the extra help to take care of myself felt crucial.
FOUR DAYS AFTER SURGERY CHECK-UP:
This was the day that I went to Hyundai in the morning to use my unused deposit to get the vitamin injection (this bad experience is described above, under the “Hyundai consult”) and I came into Miho for my appointment crying because of it. Kevin and the nurse immediately comforted me and took special care of me during the appointment to make me feel better, including being extra gentle with my veins and making sure I was comfortable. The nurse gave me another antibiotic injection and de-swelling treatment. She removed the boogers in my nose so I could finally nose breathe again! She complimented me on how I was taking care of my sutures and doing my nose care as instructed. I no longer needed the gauze mustache as I was no longer leaking blood or fluid. Kevin was there and helped answer all the other questions I had. My boyfriend and I are so grateful for his help. He really is the best and I couldn’t say enough about how much he helped.
CAST OFF DAY (7 DAYS AFTER SURGERY):
I was so nervous and excited for this day. The nurse gave me vitamins and antibiotics via IV and removed the stitches between my nostrils. When they removed the cast, I didn’t even recognize myself due to the swelling, bruising, and discoloration. I kept saying I was scared and I felt like I went through the five stages of grief in 15 minutes. However, the anxiety would fade and come back throughout the day. I would switch off between feeling giddy about my new nose and then a feeling of impending doom again. It looked pretty good from the side already, but my nose and face were both swollen from the front giving me an “Avatar”, all-my-features-are-blending-together look which was unsettling. However, the trust I have in the doctor and the overall rhino healing process helped ground me and I knew I needed to remind myself to be patient and trust the process.
LAST MIHO VISIT (11 DAYS AFTER SURGERY)
Here at my last visit, I asked Kevin my remaining questions (mostly concerning the swelling). Kevin was able to answer most of them with his experience alone in witnessing many surgeries like mine and their recovery processes. The nurse removed the last of my stitches from the inside of my nose as well as the 2 tiny sutures on my leg where they harvested fat from. This was slightly uncomfortable, but not painful. Dr. Yoon Sukho came in afterward and looked at my nose and the first thing he asked me (after remarking that my healing was going well) was if I had any concerns or questions I wanted to bring up to him. Although he was busy and we didn’t have a TON of time together in this entire process, I felt his genuineness in every encounter. It seemed that he actually did care about my concerns throughout the entire process and he made sure to put my satisfaction and my worries first. I told him I was mainly concerned about the swelling and Kevin answered many of my questions concerning it, because I didn’t want to inconvenience him by asking him again if my nose was going to get smaller (because as worried as I was, I knew what the answer was). The doctor asked me what part of the nose I was most concerned with, appearance-wise, and I said that it was the tip and the nostrils because it looked big and wide still. He explained that, while looking at my ‘before’ picture, not only was the base of my nose swollen but my cheeks were also swollen from the fat grafting and both were contributing to the wider appearance. He assured me that my nose would look smaller than before, and congratulated me on healing well. The doctor who did my face fat grafting was not available, but I’m sure that if I wanted to see him before I left again I could schedule another appointment to come in. I didn’t feel like it was necessary because my healing was going as expected. Kevin reassured me that once I am Miho’s patient, I am their patient forever. He said I could reach out anytime (and I believe that!) and he would be happy to answer my questions. He said that if I was visiting Korea again and just wanted to have the doctor look at my nose again (even if it was a few years down the road) he would be able to make that happen. As far as the appearance of my nose goes– I feel confident enough to send videos of my nose to my friends and family. I love the side profile already, and I am okay with how the tip is going to drop more since it is just slightly more upturned than I prefer. The front profile, while swollen, is still better than my previous nose. I am looking at myself in the mirror every chance that I get (sometimes to critique, mostly to appreciate) and I am very excited to see the results get better every week!
BOTTOM LINE:
-Miho exceeded my expectations. I couldn’t have seen myself picking any other clinic, even if I consulted with more clinics
-Huge thank you to Kevin for being the best consultant ever, huge help in answering my questions, alleviating stress, and making this whole process as enjoyable as possible
-Dr. Yoon Sukho and Dr. Yoon Jungwon are great doctors, I talked to the former more but I trust them both because I trust the entire clinic
-I would recommend this clinic to anyone looking for rhino and fat grafting
-I am not 100% happy with my nose/face yet because I am VERY early in the healing process, but I ANTICIPATE being at least 9/10 if not 10/10 happy with it in a few weeks or months
-My Seoul Secret was very helpful for navigating PS in a foreign country, I highly recommend it. Jeet is wonderful.
This is it for my experience in Korea. Feel free to message me with questions and I will update my journey once I am back in the States!

2024.03.14 07:49 GreenBananaSyrup Mad clowns or something

The clowns are mad 😹😹😹 (allegedly).
As our fandom has been discussing nail polish and chemicals, between 2 chapters of the novel 👀 and theorizing about the novel, the clowns are mad.
Melina decided to try "new" nail polish (that don't seem available in Europe, they contain water + PU and/or acrylic acid + a few other ingredients + pigments + preservatives. A lots of Chinese brands don't use glycols in their water based nail polish (while it's in all the ones that are sold in Europe).
She knew she used "similar" nail polish when she was very little, so she wanted to try. (That's actually not the same at all). It's not actually odor-less but it doesn't smell much.
Melina decided to pick nail polish that doesn't contain acrylic acid. She was cautious because of PU, which is just A FAMILY of chemicals that are made from different stuff. Also water based PU is said to not release VOCs, especially if it's a resin (don't inhale it before it's dry though, those nail polish usually take 2 minutes to dry).
It was ok for her to use (she tried 3 different colors sofar), but the base made her sick though. The ingredients are defo not the same as the nail polish and they forgot to mention the pigment (fact, it's purple but the purple pigment is not in the ingredient list, source : Melina's video + the anons), and it seems it contains vitamins + iron, which means the brand sent the wrong nail polish base (they have both). Anyway, the base make it slower to dry and very difficult to remove the nail polish (on top) with only alcohol, so, Melina will skip it either way. It seems the vitamin carrier ONCE AGAIN was propylene glycol, hence why she had a bad reaction. The ingredient list (found online) for the base with vitamins also says methyl something (a preservative).
It's not a big deal because Melina tried knowing it was at her own risk, UNLIKE THE ORGANIC FOOD !!!
Anyway, long story short, it lead to people then check what PU are and other stuff.... And from looking into stuff, not only people found nasty stuff, but it also sparked a discussion about some chemical we should rather not name because easy to manufacture, which happens to be a by-product (unwanted ingredient that is the result of manufacturing process), which is known to be toxic and cause c@ncer, but is still found in some food items. (I'd rather not say which one, because it's scary if bad people get their hands on that).
Anyway, scientific pages about this ingredient says :
It was used as a hypnotic in man and an anesthetic in animals in 1940s. However, it was found to be genotoxic and carcinogenic in 1943. [censored] is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and the skin, and then distributed in the body. In liver, up to 90% of [censored] absorbed is hydrolyzed by microsomal esterase and eliminated as ethanol, carbon dioxide, and ammonia .
(It means that the liver transforms the original chemical into ethanol, carbon dioxide and ammonia, just like propylene glycol is transformed by the liver into lactic acid and other stuff.....
Other sources say the same :
has been used for many years to produce hypnosis and narcosis in mammals,
So,basically, the discussion then was about the clowns, who are WORLDWIDLY KNOWN for their declassified files about experiments on people with different chemicals, testing about mind control, behavioral changes, hypnosis and they liked L s D a lot apparently. (Source : https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2019/09/15/cia-fort-detrick-stephen-kinzer-228109/ , https://www.france24.com/en/20100311-did-cia-poison-french-town-with-lsd )
And of course, by knowing about that chemical, everybody was "joking" about how Melina (and everybody) should really keep an eye on her drink, especially around clowns.
So now they're mad. IS THAT OUR FAULT IF THEY SELF ADMITTED TO BE DOING THAT AND NOW HAVE THE REPUTATION OF USING R@PE DRVGS AND TO BE COMPLETE PERVS ???!!!
News like this : https://www.reddit.com/Bad_Cop_No_Donut/comments/qihh8b/serial_rapist_cia_agent_arrested_after_naked/ . Enough said.
No wonder they go undetected at Microsoft, they're the same, doing cr@p and then whining because people see them for what they are. (Source : https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2018/ma13/microsoft-sexual-harassment-lawsuit-lacklustre-response , https://www.reddit.com/Bitcoin/comments/5y0e33/breaking_cia_turned_every_microsoft_windows_pc_in/ )
So now at least the (Microsoft) Clown is posting cr@p and indirects about our recent topics and trying to start cr@p using their momols or whatever. Well, be mad, won't change the fact the whole world knows clowns are allegedly behind the drvg manufacturing and tr@fficking in South America (see G@rry W3bb), are hitmen for hire for rich lvnatics and maybe even for s3x tr@ffickers to hire, no question asked (source : https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/paris-hitmen-thought-they-had-a-state-licence-to-kill-wr596xq82 , https://www.newyorker.com/news/news-desk/harvey-weinsteins-army-of-spies ), and are pervs who drvg, hypnotize and r@pe (not just grown up women). That's what clowns are. We live in reality, not in a propaganda movie that makes them look normal and not monsters !
Anyway, our fandom is just going to laugh at them for a minute, then go back to discuss the novels and also discuss stuff like "Wow, dimethicone is not actually natural, it means dimethyl silicone ???!!! 🤯"

2024.03.12 16:30 yelpvinegar How to sell anything (even if your market doesn’t technically want it)

I’m a big fan of the “old school” greats, but if there’s one thing I don’t like about their advice, it’s the focus on finding “starving” markets.
Don’t get me wrong, these audiences are great and easy to sell, but the issue is how it’s not always feasible.
In today’s competitive world, we don’t necessarily have a lot of “hungry” markets, and the ones we do have generally require a lot of money.
People wanted a social media platform that wasn’t censored by left-wing nutjobs, Elon Musk dropped a cool $44B to accomplish that, not something that’s reachable for the average Joe.
Knowing this, we have to get a little more creative in order to stand out, and here’s how I’ve always been able to accomplish that:

Benefit-first marketing

If there’s one main “advantage” I bring to most marketing campaigns, it’s the skill set of being “scrappy”.
I’ve had a lot of scenarios where I had to produce sales with a $500 budget, meaning you really have to stretch every dollar in the farthest way possible.
Takes a lot of “unique skill” to do this, especially when everybody else operates on a budget of $20K+, teaching me a lot of “unique” tactics along the way.
Too many to personally count, but if there’s one I’ve always liked “best”, it’s the art of finding “unaware” markets and then providing benefits they don’t know about.
Few different reasons why this works so well, but at the end of the day, you have a lot less competition when you do this.
When you can approach them in a different way, you immediately stand out.
All things I’ll explain throughout the remainder of this article, but to give you a simple example before reaching that point, that way you understand everything better — years ago I had to sell a “DIY Will Kit”.
In retrospect, this was probably the dumbest project I’ve ever taken on, as nothing was lined up.
But something inside of me wanted to still do it.
Think I was just up for the challenge, so after getting started, I knew “indirect” marketing was my only hope.
Couldn’t beat the competition with anything else, as they had everything going for them.
Making me do some research, and after a few days of speaking with people, the perfect opportunity came to me.
In this scenario, I found a segment of the market who didn’t think they “needed” a Will.
In their eyes, everything went to their spouse anyway, so Wills were “worthless”.
Fair enough, something that’s depressing to the average marketer, but money in my eyes.
With that type of crowd, whenever they see “direct” ads, such as:
“We’re Estate Planning Attorneys, reach out today!”…
Or:
“Flash Sale: Create your Will for $49”…
They never work.
Seeing how they don’t “need” it, none of these ads will get them to move forward, and that’s exactly why I love them.
It’s a simple market for me to target, almost putting me in a “league of my own”, and here’s the “gist” of how I accomplish this:

Connecting a benefit they want, to your product or service

As with everything in life, the actual “implementation” is a lot more difficult, but the general logic applies either way.
Generally speaking, one of the biggest issues I see most run into, is trying to sell their actual product or service.
Don’t get me wrong, if the market understands your product or service, then it works — but that leads to other issues.
Ones I mentioned earlier, where they require a lot of time and money, as you’re competing with the “big dogs”.
Those that have a large brand presence in the marketplace, already capturing the people who “understand” your product or service, but that leaves an opening for those that don’t.
We simply need to be “better” at marketing, and in this scenario, the situation was unique as I was offering a “benefit” they didn’t even know about.
Not going to get into all the details, as I’m trying to keep this brief, but let’s just say that Intestate (i.e. Will-less) Estates generally have higher expenses associated with them.
Seeing how Attorneys like to take their sweet time, those expenses can quickly add-up, taking money from the family’s pockets.
Something no man (my target market) wants, so that was my primary angle.
I’ll talk more about “secondary” angles later on, but for now, I essentially said something along the lines of:
“Do this today, and it’ll save your family thousands later on”…
Immediately capturing their attention because of it.
The headline itself was much better, but you get the hint, and then I merely had to explain everything from there.

Ethical Sales Letters

By the time you’re done reading this article, everything will make a lot more sense, but in the simplest terms — Ethical Sales Letters are very similar to an Advertorial.
I actually still call them “Advertorials” in most of my marketing, as it’s something people are familiar with, but my setup typically goes past the standard “Advertorial”.
I never like to “trick” my audience, but at the same time, I also know it’s impossible to fully teach “anything” in one article either.
For starters, since it’s free, nobody will take action on it — but on top of that…
If your skill is anything worthwhile, it’s not like you can break a 4-year degree down into 6K words either.
There’s a reason why specialists will never go out of business, clients simply don’t have the time (or energy) to learn everything on their own, but they still want to understand the strategy behind it.
Nobody buys something they’re “unfamiliar” with, and the same logic applies to products as well.
Said differently, if I was selling 10x Optimize, a “higher-priced” multivitamin
I could go through and explain everything that’s in there, but nobody would actually go buy all the ingredients, creating the “pills” themselves.
There’s a reason why people pay for convenience, we only have so much time in our day, and that’s the main logic behind an Ethical Sales Letter.
You know there’s a segment of your audience who is “unaware” of something, not experiencing a benefit that could improve their life, so you simply tell them about it.
Do so in a way where it “makes sense”, that way they want it, but then you also offer a “convenience option” afterwards.
If they’re the type who wants to learn everything on their own, spending 12+ months mastering the “sub-skills” to accomplish this, that’s fine — but it generally means you’re targeting the wrong audience anyway.
Ones who don’t have any money, so they’re forced to do everything themselves, but that doesn’t matter too much.
By the time you’re done reading this article, you’ll understand how to avoid all that, I was simply trying to explain the “logic” of an Ethical Sales Letter before getting into the good stuff.
Find a benefit people don’t know about, show how they can get it, then offer your service (or product) as a “convenience” option
And in turn, experiencing a lot of other benefits on top of that.
Funny things happen when you do this the right way, and here’s:

How to do this for your business

Throughout the rest of this article, I’m going to take you through the process and explain how I create Ethical Sales Letters.
It’s always a fun thing to teach, especially in this format, as I’m going fairly “wide” with this article.
I’ve used Ethical Sales Letters to sell:
So I know it can work for any business, and the only downside of explaining everything this way, is that the “examples” might not be 100% relevant to your industry.
For example, if I keep talking about:
“Generate leads for your Accounting firm”…
And you sell:
“Vitamins”
Then it might feel a little weird.
You might not think it’s “applicable” to you, I can assure you, that’s not the case — you simply need to digest this logic and then see how it’ll apply to your industry.
All things that’ll make sense when we’re done with this, just wanted to give a head’s up now, and that takes us to:

Step #1 — Positioning

One of the most important parts of any campaign, especially “indirect” campaigns, is figuring out the positioning of your article.
There’s many ways to do this, and the term itself has a lot of different definitions, but I personally like to look at positioning as:
“What it does and who it’s for”
In other words, every product has different uses, but it’s important for us to narrow down and just pick one for now.
To give you an example of what I’m saying, let’s go back to the “10x Optimize” product from earlier.
Not going to get into all the specifics, as it’s lengthy, but a few benefits that come with this product are:
We’ll get into “how” they’re accomplished later on, but for right now, it’s always important to create a benefit list like this.
You’ll see the reason “why” here in a second, but as a head’s up before that point, you always want to start with one “main” benefit and then support it with secondary logic.
For example, if I picked:
“Increased productivity”…
As the main benefit, one that captures their attention, then I’d explain this first but then solidify my argument with “nice byproducts” afterwards.
“Oh, and if you have a little extra fat, that’ll also disappear — and it’ll also help you feel better”…
Etc, you get what I’m saying.
Always want to start with a list of benefits first, that way we can figure out what we’re “tying our product” back to, and after that we’ll then want to figure out “who” our ideal audience is.
There’s a few different ways to look at this as well, but let’s carry on with our “productivity” example.
In this case, I wouldn’t want to target “W-2” employees with this benefit, as none of them really care about it.
They’re paid by the hour anyway, so productivity doesn’t apply to them, but that’s completely different for “entrepreneurs”.
They make more money when extra things are accomplished, meaning they’ll be a lot more “apt” to want that productivity benefit.
This creates the positioning statement of:
“10x Optimize Helps Entrepreneurs Improve Their Productivity”…
Which is a great start.
Seeing how we have a benefit they want, along with a product/solution they’re unaware of, we can easily target that crowd and generate some sales because of it.
Knowing this, I’d mark that down as our opening angle, then move onto:

Step #2 — Customer Level of Awareness

Now that we have the main angle in place, and understand what crowd we’re targeting, the next step is simply figuring out what they “know” in regards to it.
This can be a little tricky to figure out, especially with “advanced” markets, but here’s a simple formula that’ll get you started.
It’s not something I use “to a T” anymore, as there’s little intricacies you have to consider, but the 5 levels of awareness are:
And generally speaking, when you use this type of tactic, you’ll be targeting those who are “unaware to solution aware”.
Don’t get me wrong, if you’re really advanced then you could even do Service Aware or Most Aware, but it’s very difficult to do.
You have to meet them at the finish line, take them back to the beginning, then go through the process all over again — it’s not for the faint of heart.
Seeing that, I always start with the first 3 groups, and then proceed accordingly.
So far in this article I’ve actually provided examples of “unaware” and “solution aware” prospects as well.
With our “DIY Will Kit” example, these prospects were “unaware”.
They didn’t realize there was a problem in place, so we had to proceed accordingly.
On the other hand, with our “productivity” example, these prospects were “solution aware”.
They already know there’s a productivity issue in their company, but the problem is how they only know about “limited” solutions.
All things that help a smidge, but don’t necessarily move the needle either.
Seeing that, we could speak to them in a different light, saying:
“This genetic mutation causes 44% of entrepreneurs to be unproductive”…
Really capturing their attention because of it.
They’d be like:
“What the hell? I’ve never heard of that before”…
Instantly clicking the article from there.
After that, we’d explain what we mean, offering a “new solution” afterwards.
Anyway, getting a little advanced, but here’s why that’s important.
Whenever you target a different level of awareness, you’re going to use different “messaging”.
In addition to that, you also need to apply this “awareness formula” to all aspects of your Ethical Sales Letter, that way you provide all the information your prospects need.
With our first example, the:
“DIY Will Kit” crowd…
They had no idea a Will was even needed.
Seeing that, we had to explain WHY this was important, but it’s not like we’d have to tell them what a “Will” was either.
They’re already familiar with the actual vehicle, they just didn’t know they needed it, so a lot of our “education” would take place upfront.
Fair enough, but with our second example (i.e. productivity), it’s the exact opposite.
This crowd is very familiar with “productivity”, so if we started the Ethical Sales Letter off by saying:
“Productivity is important because it allows you to make more money”…
We’d lose their attention, and not have them read anything else.
Something we want to avoid, but at the same time, that’d change once we got to the actual solution.
I highly doubt anybody in this crowd is familiar with:
“L-5-methyltetrahydrofolate”…
So we’d do a lot more explaining there.
Again, this is where the little “intricacies” come in, but the formula itself helps you have a better understanding of how to address your market.
Never want to bore them with an over explanation of things they understand, but never want to leave them confused by not explaining things they don’t.

Step #3 — Objections

Ethical Sales Letters are essentially content marketing with some “sales logic” infused into them, and this step is when we apply a majority of the “sales logic”.
I’ve never been a fan of sleazy copywriting, saying:
“IF YOU DON’T DO THIS, THEN YOU’LL DIE!”…
But at the same time, there are some important factors we can extract from it.
In this case, we need to figure out what objections our market might have, primarily so we can subtly address them as we’re going through the Ethical Sales Letter.
For example, if you hear a lot of your prospects say:
“Attention spans are short, I don’t think it’ll work on my market”…
Then you’d need to address this when explaining everything.
“As for the Ethical Sales Letter, mine are usually 6K words long and yes, people will read it.
I’ve been able to attract some busy entrepreneurs with this, including those who have $10M worth of businesses in their portfolio, and it makes sense when you think about it.
The average CEO reads 30 books a year, so they’ll gladly read 6K words, the biggest issue is how”…
Etc, you get the hint.
When you understand the objections upfront, you’re able to naturally cover them in your presentation, so I always try to write down every objection I can think of (or find) at this point.
If you’ve worked in the industry long enough, you’ll probably already have this information, if not — then there’s always research.
Whenever I’m doing this for clients, I prefer speaking to their previous clients or customers.
These people are always the best source of “intel”, as they’ve gone through the journey.
When you can ask them:
“What’s some obstacles you had before moving forward?”…
They’ll tell you, making life a lot easier after that.
That’s one method, but if you’re not a fan of this, then you can always use the “traditional” formats.
There’s a lot of options out there, just find the common objections people have, that way we can naturally address them as we’re explaining the process.
With that said, this is it for step #3, which takes us to the fun part:

Step #4 — Creating your Ethical Sales Letter

It’s always “interesting” trying to explain this part of the process, primarily because everything is skill-based.
You can’t really “teach” sales copywriting, you can only provide the fundamentals and then tell people to practice, but here’s the best I can do at this point.
To start things off, after getting through the first 3 steps, I like to create a Plain English Statement.
If you’re not familiar with that, it’s a 1–3 sentence statement that “summarizes” the Ethical Sales Letter.
Going back to our “10x Optimize” product, I might say:
“The best productivity hack is merely giving your body the nutrients it needs to perform at 100%. Without this, you’ll never leverage your maximum output, here’s how 10x Optimize helps with that”…
As that encapsulates the message.
Give my brain the necessary “north star” to work back from, so I’ll walk away from my computer for a bit, then come back and write a headline.
For the headline itself, I’ll generally write 3–5 different variations, primarily so I can pick my favorite one.
In addition to that, it also gives you “testing options” later on, but for now — I’ll just do one.
That’ll give you an example of how to turn the “Plain English Statement” into a headline, and generally speaking, you don’t want to mention your product or service here.
In some cases, that’s fine, but it typically does more harm than good.
See a lot of people mess this up as well, where they’ll turn their Ethical Sales Letter into a “Brand Awareness” Ad, saying:
“10x Optimize Is The Key To Productivity!”…
Then have the image right underneath
Which just screams SALES PITCH.
Remember, sales aren’t bad, but we need prospects to see the value first.
Nobody likes being sold without understanding everything, so I generally just keep it “benefit-driven” upfront.
Say something along the lines of:
“This vitamin deficiency is the main cause of lost productivity (yet nobody realizes this)”…
And start off by explaining everything from that angle.
Again, the headline would be much better, but you get the hint.
Start with a benefit first, that way you can grab their attention, then work back from there.
Seeing this, that’s the headline, and then I usually just start writing after that.
By this point I’ve done this thousands of times, so it’s “natural” to me, but I used to create an outline (first) back in the day.
That helped me mention the key points, writing a better piece, so you might want to try that out.
Anyway, for the writing itself, you want to act like you’re having a “one-sided” conversation with your ideal prospect.
That’s really the only “downside” of copywriting, because in real-life, you’re able to speak with prospects and answer questions as they come up.
Much easier to “sell” this way, but the issue is how it’s not very efficient.
Requires a lot of time and energy speaking to every prospect manually, especially when they don’t understand anything, so you’re much better off having this “one-sided” conversation and then letting them reach out with any questions.
To accomplish that, I always visualize my ideal prospect sitting across the desk, and then writing like I talk.
By this point we’ve already done a lot of “research” as well, figuring out:
So we’ll naturally know how to speak with them, along with what objections need to be addressed along the way.
Just remember to do this “ethically”, and not be cheesy about it.
Never say:
“Oh, and I know what you’re thinking — attention spans are short”…
Etc, as it’s weird.
I’ve found this works better when you be a lot more “conversational” with it, saying:
“I always love how people claim attention spans are short, when the average CEO reads 30 books a year”…
Etc, as that not only has better “flow”, but is just a more natural way to overcome objections.
Anyway, that’s the gist of “writing” your Ethical Sales Letter, and the last thing I wanted to mention was your “call-to-action”.
Generally speaking, it works best when you have one at the end, but it’s not always necessary either.
I know some like to use their Ethical Sales Letter as a way of bringing people into their “ecosystem”, then following-up after that, call-to-action wouldn’t be as important here.
Remember, you’re not really “selling” anything with this, you’re merely providing a convenience option at the end.
All things to consider, but outside of that, everything is fairly intuitive.
Just remember to get the foundation right, which is what we did in steps #1 — #3, then simply act like you’re “speaking” with your ideal prospect afterwards.
If you have any experience in sales, or communication, the writing will come naturally — and that takes us to the last thing I wanted to mention:

Step #5 — Traffic and formatting

If there’s one aspect of this that tends to “confuse” people, it’s the formatting of your Ethical Sales Letter.
I can’t even tell you how many people I’ve had read one of mine, reach out, and ask if I can share examples of what they look like before moving forward?
It’s always my favorite conversation, as I have to explain they just read one, and I think that gives good insights on what the “tone” should be.
Merely being a helpful guide, then offering help if they want it, and the formatting on this will differ depending on what traffic source you use.
As I mentioned earlier, one common (and my personal favorite) method is simply boosting this on social media.
They all work, and if you use that approach, then you generally want to format your Ethical Sales Letter as a “blog”.
It’s a helpful tone, so it’s technically a blog, and you’ll have higher readership because of it.
On the other hand, when you use other sources, such as cold email — then the format is different.
In that case, you’d send cold emails saying:
“Hey Sean,
Interested in learning about an asset that decreases your sales cycle to 14 days or less?”…
Then when the prospect responds “yes”, you’d send the Ethical Sales Letter to them in a different way.
For the most part, people will use “Whitepapers” here, sharing it via Google Doc link — but I’ve also seen some post as an actual “sales letter” via Carrd.co
If you’re not familiar with this software, it allows you to create long-form landing pages, creating the perfect setup because of it.
In that case, people can read your email, look at your domain — “Google” it…
Then automatically start reading everything from there
Again, different formatting for different traffic sources, but this is honestly the least important part of the entire process.
Assuming you created everything correctly, anything works, and it’s a matter of getting plenty of eyeballs on it now.
Needless to say, that’s all I wanted to mention here, which takes us to:

The recap

Long story short, even though there’s a few things you can take away from this, the main thing is being able to connect a “wanted benefit” to your product or service.
I don’t care what anybody tells you, that’s why anybody buys something, so it’s the easiest way to “sell” your offer — even if your audience doesn’t technically want it beforehand.
The caveat in-between this, is merely understanding your audience’s level of awareness, along with knowing how to communicate in the right format.

2024.03.04 20:36 ranc1 Nothingness as anti-dote for social anxiety (II)

No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” ~ Eleanor Roosevelt
We give other people our consent because we try to welcome toxic people into our private sphere. We try to embrace anti-social people who are criminals and probably potential murders, too. With Nothingness concept they no longer present any kind of entity from our point of view. We welcome and embrace toxic people because of ACE and ACoA operant conditioning - where in childhood we learned to serve and fix angry people and to be quiet and obedient to them, the same way as Pavlovian dogs learn to salivate when they hear the bells.
Titration concept helps with complex trauma - because it is like giving water to our dried desert, during dry periods, when we experience hardships in life. We store good advice, experience and help and provide ourselves with boost of self esteem and concrete help. Like storing food for winter or storing money for periods of time when we might lose our income. This what I am writing here is titration - because when we are triggered, when we are panicked - we will go into amygdala hijacking and our cortex brain will stop providing us with advice and immunity and confidence - and it is only our lizard brain that will be functional - and when we are in our safe mode - we cannot run complex operations. Without ability to handle difficult people due to panic - we will build toxic shame and belief that we are inept and abnormal for not being able to react in correct manner to toxic people and difficult events in life. Once again - Nothingness comes as help. Because we won't invest any more focus and time and money into pleasing evil people. We won't waste that little of cortex brain decisions into pleasing toxic people. When we waste our money - we spend it on emotional shopping and filling the void inside and to impress other people. With Nothingness - we won't spend any money at all anymore. There will be no urges to fulfill and hidden desires to complete anymore.
Narcissists also cannot access positive emotions, borderliners are mashed up. With social anxiety - we are left only with our panic. Other emotions are outside of our awareness and we are not aware of this at all. Because they are out of our awareness. It is only when we calm down that we remember the education from psychology: that we could act differently. For example, when I am around someone unknown or moody - I automatically try to make them not angry and I offer my time and focus and energy to please them and not to aggravate them. I make myself small and offer my sacrifice Negative Politeness without being able to control this reflex of operant conditioning that is Fawning. In reality - calming down will come on its own - we won't calm down with fawning. Calming down, or emotional regulation is the first think that I learned after I learned about Complex PTSD - concepts which are banned in CBT. CBT instructed me to invest energy and to worry and to analyze - and this only ended up with fawning and trauma bonding because I was not able to discern toxic people and consequently to cut contact with them and not offer my serviced to them, just to avoid their yelling and screaming. Saying no to them was totally outside of my awareness. Nothingness helps with this. Once we remove ourselves emotionally from other people - we will free up many choices and decisions that previously were outside of our awareness - due to investment into pleasing angry people and their make-shift Oscar-worthy hysteria. Panic that we feel is not panic at all. It is overstimulation. It is sensory overload.
Autistic and dereistic thinking would deny the patient access to this emotions. Because emotions would be perceived as out there. There would be a gap, chasm or schism, an internal fragmentation of the patient. Where narc can't access positive emotions, left only with negative effectivity. Access to emotions is totally denied in psychopaths. In borderline there is emotional dysregulation, outcome of misjudging own emotions, weighing them improperly.
🟥 Prof. Sam Vaknin
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5E1ZE3qXv0
Narcissists, toxic people will keep on infecting us. Like bad apples - spreading rottenness onto other apples. When someone is creating drama and conflict all the time out of nothing - our decisions and focus will be influenced by their microaggressions.
"The more I love mankind in general, the less I love men. I'm incapable of enduring two days in the same room with any other person. The moment anybody comes close to me, his personality begins to overpower my self esteem and intrude upon my freedom."
The Brothers Karamazov, Dostoevsky
Then there is dualism and double binding. Manipulators and controllers can easily present and of our action as error and mistake. CBT will diagnose our normal reactions to trauma and abuse as abnormality and they will have statistics based on survivorship bias and researcher bias as proof that we are abnormal. This is why Nothingness helps - it clears up Babushka dolls that are hidden within into endless repetition. If we invest our time and energy into clearing accusations and someone's Base rate fallacy - we will lose time into proving them wrong. And since they live in delusions and have personality disorder - their brain will be unable to process new information due to their Confirmation bias. I am not saying that we need to be silent to abuse - but if we warn and alert them, if we told our side of story - it is unnecessary to repeat the same thing to someone who is obviously invested into drama and hysteria that never ends.
CBT is forced confession. Toxic people do this also - forcing confession from us that is false.
Coerced-compliant false confessions
'Coerced-internalized false confessions' are those in which an innocent person—anxious, sleep-deprived, confused, and subjected to a highly suggestive interrogation that often includes the presentation of false evidence—actually comes to believe that he or she committed the crime.
https://youtu.be/LiYWXHaB9bs
We end up being forced to accept someone's narrative. Toxic people will punish us. They scream, yell and physically force others to submit to their delusions. It is our inner critic and peer pressure remnants from our early adolescence and trauma - that will block us from talking and expressing our opinion. Externally - toxic people will punish us into silence, while internally we will torture ourselves to stay silent and obedient. Plus lack of education will block us from forming our advocacy and our defense. This way we are very easy to manipulate and control. That is why CBT exposure will do more damage than good - unless we work on these issues and educate ourselves enough to know what is going on. Without education we will have blockage in describing and reporting what is truly going on. Then CBT provides the socially anxious with false and wrong education - mislabeling and misdiagnosing our sensory overload as hallucination and panic and abnormality of the brain that somehow produces cognitive distortions.
Nothingness helps us to retreat from emotional investment in people who are highly manipulative and controlling.
Then there are toxic people who make fun of neurodivergent people - because they are ashamed of their own neurodivergence. Then they know what buttons they need to push - in order to control and manipulate others. Narcissism might stem from autism spectrum - something that Prof. Sam Vaknin talked about in his lectures. We do not know - when other people are hostile and intrusive, when they are overly friendly and when they exploit our needs and voids by pretending to be super nice - Nothingness will help us navigate complex relations with other people.
Social anxiety results from being around people who are resolutely opposed to who you are.
Stefan Molyneux
In short - we could describe social anxiety as: 1) neurodivergence, where our brain is processing stimuli in deep manner, producing symptoms similar to panic 2) exposure to neurotypical society, neurodivergent authority figures who never learned how to regulate themselves so they became toxic to us with relentless criticism So social anxiety stems from feeling things deeply, being pro-social and in the same time being surrounded with fake people who wear fake social mask that provide them with narcissistic supply and grandiosity - and we cannot handle lies and manipulation and control - as any other normal and healthy person would not be able to accept it. Plus, due to heavy brainwashing - we lost ability to trust ourselves - so we developed toxic shame and hence we do not risk much in life and we tend to operate below our capabilities and below our potential in life - because in external world we are around predators and parasites, while internally we have inner critic that is blaming us and forcing us to seek approval from others, along with trauma that force us to people please others and to fawn to others - who are toxic and bad influence on us that we cannot cut off due to heavy self flagellation. In order to be healthy and sane and fully operational - we need to learn how to cut off toxic people, how to recognize toxic people, and how to fully trust ourselves and lean on our brain and ability to resolve life challenges.
IFS model taught me to embrace all parts of ourselves - and to realize that there is civil war inside us due to fragmentation of our mind into various parts that want different things to keep us safe.
Nothingness concept taught me to create boundary between my inner world and external reality - mostly toward triggering toxic people who are intrusive and manipulative and have hidden agenda and fake social mask - that we never know who is the real person that we are in contact with. It is about being able to walk around in hostile environment, like astronaut being in space - where we have our suit and oxygen on in environment without gravity and life necessities such as air and warmth.
Neurodivergence taught me to accept our quirkiness and to interpret panic as sensory overload - thanks to commentator here on reddit - that helped me to form this narrative about reality of our panic attack issues which appear as brain abnormality and trauma. It is about total acceptance of ourselves as we are where we do not pathologize our anxiety anymore.
Now I'd like to comment some main points from Prof. Sam Vaknin.
If you are out there competitive, ambitious, out to win at all costs this is going to antagonize many people. So the first rule is fight for what you believe in regardless of expected outcomes. Even if you know for sure that you're going to lose. Your dignity and self-respect rely on this. Why dignity is important to cultivate? You know about yourself much more than anyone else know about you.

This explains why people appear as if the hate us. CBT will pathologize our instincts and tell us that we hallucinate - while in reality - most people have crab mentality and they have King of the hill competition mentality - where they are top lobsters and anyone who is different or more smart then them - is target of bullying and criticism in order to destroy reputation of anyone who is better than them.
This information symmetry dictates how other people treat you. People pick up cues from you. This is social learning theory: modelling.
People look at you, people observe you, people analyze you, gossip about you – they form an opinion based on information that you provide them. They absorb this information that you transmit, emit and broadcast. They form opinion around that core.

In 90 percent of social anxiety resources - we will be told that most people mind their own business and that we are imagining someone's criticism, also known as Spotlight effect. Well - in real world, especially if we live in Shame Culture country filled with intrusive people, and if we live in country where moral and ethical standards are non existent - it is highly likely that most people will be highly motivated to mock us and criticize us just for their fun and sadism.
This opinion shapes their actions.
Be careful what kind of data you emit. What kind of attitude you project. What kind of self negation you broadcast. Be very careful about the way you treat yourself. Because people are looking, people are observing –audience and spectators all around. And the way you treat yourself is the way you're going to be treated.
Treat yourself as you would like others to treat you

In real life situations, when we are inside toxic ambient - which we cannot escape or run from due to lack of finances - the only way we can survive toxicity is to create a shield from toxic abnormal people - so that our decisions are not influenced by their comments and intrusive nagging and complaints.
With trauma and ACE and ACoA - we will walk around feeling guilty and expecting to be accused of something that we did not do. This way - all that toxic people need to do is to throw accusations and mocking and to scream and yell and be aggressive and intrusive - and our already present guilt and toxic shame will force us to be obedient and silent - since we truly believe that we are inept and guilty automatically - whatever what toxic person accuse us about and with.
So we need to have quick shield and immunity against this intrusion - other people's careless comments and criticism that is spoken only for sadistic and agenda reason of very toxic and sick and abnormal people.
In real life - there will be microaggressions. This is something that CBT does not explain at all. Our mind will be flooded with unnecessary and false data that critics and sadists simply throw like a bone at us to chew on. Like trolls online - we try to explain something while immature people make fun of our trials and honest conversation and turn it against us, as us being naive and too serious or whatever.
Toxic people will target our mistakes - they will force us to feel ashamed for our errors - while we will try to clear our name and end up being perfectionist. This way other people control us, they control our moods and emotions and we try hard not to make them mad and angry. This game can only be broken by severing any kind of bond with other people - through Nothingness. They can still complain and make drama - but we won't spend any more time than necessary in solving the problem. And we will be highly motivated to seek ambient that is healthy and friendly - versus trying to impress other people or being stuck in rat race.
If you don't have self-love, you tell other people with your behavior and choices that you don't love yourself. It immediately raises the question - if she doesn't love herself, why should I love her? If she doesn't love herself, she knows something that I don't know. She doesn't love herself for good reason, so why should I love her? It is dangerous to love someone who doesn't love oneself. 1st love is self
Instead of investigating yourself, instead of getting to know yourself better, you turn outward. People who do not trust themselves who believe themselves to be stupid or weak or too poor to make decisions – feel powerless, helpless, always depend on outside. These people do not have self love because they don't have self trust. They invest in energy of others. Become slaves and agents of other people. Their lives depend on other people, constantly Love Yourself: Here’s How - or, The Four Pillars of Self-love, Prof. Sam Vaknin
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vzBf9QvClo
In ACE ACoA toxic ambient while growing up - we were programmed to have inner critic inside our mind that is putting us down all the time for any mistake or error or not being flawless. This is like having inability to eat food or process vitamins - we lack immunity. We cannot handle life problems and toxic people and manipulators - if we have inner traitor inside us - that is always siding with pathological liars and toxic people on the external. This is where Nothingness helps us to sever the ties and to turn inside and check out our inner critic and see it as IFS Model - our traumatized parts that were programmed to keep us anxious so that nobody harm us when we are without defenses.
You're capable of setting goals. Many people say I cannot set goals. I cannot decide on aims, purposes, make plans – because my life is chaotic. I don't control my life. It is mess. The first part of self-efficacy is the belief that you are capable of setting rational, beneficial and realistic goals. Second- you posses capacity to realize in reality, you can realize goals. These goals always must be rational, realistic, beneficial. Take shower - is goal. Self-love is the only reliable guide. It is the only reliable compass. Experience is very problematic. The vast majority of experience comes too late. When we finally get the experience, the lessons of experience can no longer be implemented. 99% of time you cannot implement many things you learned in your life from your experience. Experience teaches you about the past. Very few can be implemented in future – old age, lost opportunities.
  Love Yourself:
Prof. Sam Vaknin
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vzBf9QvClo
Problem is that in real world - we cannot know when someone is toxic. If someone is critical - that person may give us important feedback that we need to listen in order to correct our errors. We do not know is there is malice.
If he talks, we'll include his denials to create the appearance of fairness. If he declines to speak, we can hardly be responsible for errors. If we fail to reach him, we've tried. - What are you telling me? - That as a matter of law, the truth is irrelevant. We have no knowledge the story is false, therefore we're absent malice. We've been both reasonable and prudent, therefore we're not negligent. We can say what we like about him; he can't do us harm. Democracy is served. Absence of Malice (1981)
This is where Prof. Sam Vaknin goes into deeper psychology: reality testing. What is real? And what is a lie?
You would relate to the world with proper reality testing. Or you would tend to confuse external objects with internal objects in one way. You would think that your internal objects are actually external. Or you would think that external objects are actually internal. Everyone has internal objects: voices from the past (parents, teachers, peers = introjects). Inside we have virtual multi participate game. All Your Answers Questioned: Wild Ride with Professor Vaknin
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XwaZkD4XFnE
This means - the only way to have reality testing is to speak. We do not speak with social anxiety due to panic (which is stimuli overload). We do not speak due to ACE and ACoA - where we learned to self-censor ourselves. This way we do not check on to reality. We do not speak due to toxic people - who react highly aggressively to our truth. With our social anxiety - it is an alarm - that we will feel triggered when rude people are around us. Rude people are rude and intrusive because they have either delusions or hidden agenda - that is compelling them to be anti-social.
Normal people have awareness how their behavior is affecting others.
People with personality disorder have no realization that their behavior is disturbing and harmful to others. In toxic society - due to Dunning Krueger effect and patriarchy - anger and hysteria are considered as normal and healthy - while being kind and understanding is considered as feminine, sissy behavior that must be mocked and punished. This way - toxic people succeed in life - because they shut up the "police" - they scare away the reality checkers with drama and hysteria and aggression. It is important to know this - because with Nothingness - we no longer have moral or ethical standards that keep us holding us back from speaking the truth. We no longer have toxic empathy that prevents us from speaking up and standing up for ourselves.
The truth is not our delusion. The truth is the light - it is objective fact. When spoken out - it cannot be a matter of King of the hill competition or Crab mentality. Our weapon is the truth.
People who are toxic live in delusions and they have abnormal brains - that their actions in life are involved around hidden agenda of greed and sadism, because they are mentally ill. This means they will feel highly irritated around the truth. The truth is this reality checking that Sam Vaknin talks about.
When we no longer linger onto toxic empathy - we will speak up the truth - when the other person is greedy and not devoted to project and task, and when they exploit others. That is why toxic people trigger social anxiety inside us - so that we shut up - and when we are silent - then Shared Fantasy and their delusions can live on - since there is no opposition, there is no voice of reason.
Nothingness helps us break the invisible ties that make us be silent and obedient slave to toxic people.
Mentally ill people are dysfunctional mostly because their decisions in life are focused around destruction and greed, devouring of resources - since they are greedy they grab from others, too. Their mental illness keeps them filling up the inner void that cannot be filled. They will do anything to keep putting money and objects and emotions in this void, like black hole. They will learn to cover this up - and pretend to be either victim or someone who is doing something good for the community and company. And any person who is aware of them being a vampire - will be target of criticism. Any person that say no to them, also. This is how narcissistic abuse works. Social anxiety is narcissistic abuse exposure, we are exposed to highly toxic people who wear social mask of glib charm and hence appear popular and nice and good to most of the people. We are able to detect such toxic people due to trauma in ACE and ACoA years - and as such we are very likely candidate to be mocked and attacked - simply because we will quickly notice hidden agenda, predatory grabbing and greed that toxic people posses - and that appears as charm to most people who never experienced trauma. And nobody explained us that reality testing is on our side. The social anxiety that we feel is reality testing - we are highly aware of true reality -and this is causing stimulation overload that CBT labels as a mere panic and hallucination and a cognitive distortion.

2023.12.18 06:00 dbz__f CMV: women who get offended by toilet humour are not wife material

I have a pretty disgusting sense of humour and I'm always making crass jokes, my gf is totally okay with it and even joins in sometimes.
She keeps this water bottle at night next to her bed so if she gets thirsty she doesn't need to go all the way to the kitchen to get water, but like she puts these dissolvable vitamin tablets in the water and they make it turn into a clear yellow. I always call it her piss bottle, and always joke when she goes to the toilet that she's going to fill up her piss bottle and when she asks me to hand her her bottle, I say here's your "piss bottle". She's started calling it her piss bottle as well, its become like a mutual thing, like an in-joke between us.
I also sometimes text her when I do a massive crap and she's like "good job my darling" or something to that effect.
It's a thing we have, I can't imagine being married to someone I had to censor myself around. I wouldn't be able to treat her like a friend. I wouldn't be able to be myself around her. I'd have to suppress my own personality and sense of self and sense of humour and it would dampen our relationship. She wouldn't be my real soul mate.
there's a co-worker I know, she's a nice lady but she's single, about the same age as me. Even though she's my friend, whenever i be myself and make some disgusting joke about sex or pissing or shitting, she gets all offended and she reminds me that she's not a guy. She's nice but she's going to be single forever, because no man will want to commit to a woman who censors him and who he will have to constantly watch his mouth around. Imagine sitting at home in your underwear and not being able to fart for knowing your wife might get upset. Whereas me I just rip massive farts while my gf is in the bed with me because we have that sort of trusting loving relationship where we don't have to walk on egg shells around each other and she's not a triggered feminist who hates poo and piss jokes

2023.12.15 11:00 Reasonable_Fig_8119 There’s no such thing as “idiopathic depression”

Therapists and psychiatrists say that depression is caused by a “chemical imbalance”, but they rarely consider why there is a chemical imbalance, instead just brushing it off as idiopathic and “treating” the symptoms with gaslighting and harmful chemicals. It makes sense: the entire mental health industry is built upon the idea that mental illness just spawns out of nowhere, CBT says that problem is people think incorrectly and their thought patterns must be changed (they never stop to consider that maybe they are already thinking accurately, and things are just objectively bad, in which case CBT would just be blatant gaslighting), while psychiatry says that their neurotransmitters are out of balance (without considering why they’re out of balance) and must be fixed with harmful medication that they aggressively censor any criticisms of.
I believe that it’s impossible for depression to just appear out of nowhere, it fundamentally doesn’t make sense as a theory.
The most common reason in my opinion is a combination of SLS, poor diet and sedentary lifestyle, and therapy culture brainwashing. SLS makes people miserable, and then the poor lifestyle and therapy culture ideology takes it from normal misery to a pathological state of depression. Therapy fails hugely by lumping the non-pathological unhappiness in with the depression and trying to “cure” both by gaslighting people that they actually don’t have SLS. Perhaps it’s possible for therapy to be helpful with some major structural changes, but IMO in the way it’s currently done the only way to escape depression is to leave therapy and therapy culture, stop “identifying” as depressed, make healthier lifestyle changes, and allow yourself to feel negative emotions without patholgising them.
The other cause is a medical issue, for example celiac, again in combination with therapy culture brainwashing. The most important thing in this case is to diagnosed and treat the actual cause of the depression, and then to leave therapy culture etc. It should be considered malpractice the way the MH industry rarely recommends testing for common medical conditions that are known to cause depression, and instead jumps straight to “treating” the symptoms. I know of many MH professionals that jump straight to Prozac for seasonal depression rather than first testing for vitamin D deficiency, which is criminal imo.

2023.12.06 22:46 bamiballenbakker Horrible scarring, HELP!

Hi everyone, throwaway and censored cause I do NOT want this linked to me lmfao I’m so embarrassed. I’m in month 3 now and even though my acne isn’t completely gone yet it is starting to become clear that I have very bad PIE. Normally I would accept my fate and wait it out but I have a few very important events a month after my accutane course stops. I’d like to know if anyone has experience with this type of stuff, if it ever went away, and if so, how and how long did it take? I’ve never seen any scarring as bad as mine here and I’m so scared I’m gonna look like this forever. I’m currently using niacinamide, vitamin c and rosehip seed oil to help with the scarring (yes I am careful, I know niacinamide can be too harsh) but I am fr freaking out. Any help is appreciated!

2023.11.12 23:40 tonytheshark Short glossary of helpful terms to be familiar with in order to protect yourself (and others) from being manipulated...and to hopefully help someone realize when manipulation has already occurred

When attempting to have a discussion with someone who is heavily indoctrinated, you may find it helpful to be familiar with the following concepts, so that you might stand a chance at helping someone free themselves from the control of their manipulator.
Also, simply teaching these concepts to an indoctrinated individual (outside of any JW-specific conversation) may empower them to someday begin to wake up all on their own.
(The descriptions and examples I've provided for some of these is very brief, and that's not because those concepts are less important, but rather because I haven't had the time to write much up about it.)

Cognitive Dissonance

The feeling of mental discomfort you get when:
1) You are holding two contradictory beliefs at once, or
2) Your actions contradict your core beliefs.
The best way to eliminate/avoid the unpleasant feeling of cognitive dissonance is to walk in integrity. Integrity is not just about being honest with others—it’s also about being honest with yourself.

Strawman

An intentionally misrepresented argument that is set up because it is easier to defeat than an opponent's real argument.
Often used by people who are unable (or afraid) to confront their opponent’s actual argument. Someone using a strawman to argue, is not arguing in good faith.
Useful for controlling people.

Steelman

The strongest version of an argument.
AKA “The Principle of Charity.”
People who are most interested in finding the actual truth of a matter (rather than simply “winning” an argument or convincing someone they’ve won) will steelman each other’s arguments. In this way they force themselves to really try to hear what their opponent is trying to say, which requires a bit more empathy and humility.
People practicing steelmanning are typically more willing to admit when they are wrong. Finding the actual truth of the matter is more important to them than simply convincing someone that their viewpoint is more correct.
Useful for figuring out the actual truth of a matter.

Unfalsifiable

Not capable of being proved false.
If you make an unfalsifiable claim, you are leaving the realm of rational discourse.

“Crimestop” (AKA Protective Ignorance)

(A term from George Orwell’s novel 1984.)
the faculty of stopping short, as though by instinct, at the threshold of a dangerous thought.
Includes the “powers” of:
Extremely useful for controlling people, if you can manage to inculcate this “skill” within them.

Sunk-Cost Fallacy

Compare with:
According to economics, only prospective costs are relevant to a rational decision. Only current circumstances and alternatives should be considered, for a rational decision to be made.
Sunk costs are irrelevant to rational decision making—the tricky part is that sunk costs are often emotional and can thus be difficult to exclude from decision making.
Thus, the Sunk Cost Fallacy is the phenomenon whereby a person is reluctant to abandon a strategy or course of action because they have invested heavily in it, even when it is clear that abandonment would be more beneficial.

Groupthink

The practice of thinking or making decisions as a group in a way that discourages creativity or individual responsibility.
Symptoms of Groupthink

Information Control

The practice of controlling (either by physical/practical means or by mental coercion) what information a person has access to.
If you can control the information intake of a person, you can influence/decide the person’s perception of reality.
Useful for controlling people.

False Dichotomy

AKA a false dilemma.
The premise erroneously limits what options are available.
Presenting two options as “one or the other” when in fact more options may exist.
This is problematic because it oversimplifies the choice by excluding viable alternatives, presenting the viewer with only two absolute choices when in fact, there could be many.

Black-and-White Thinking (AKA All-or-Nothing Thinking)

Being unable or unwilling to consider the “shades of gray” (nuance) between two extremes.
Some people view everything as either good or bad, Holy or Evil, pass or fail, happy or sad, clean or dirty, calm or anxious. There is a spectrum of possible states in between each of these extremes, but a person with the habit of black-and-white thinking will default to the extremes, thereby severely impairing one’s perception of reality, and the experience of living life.

Gatekeeping

When someone takes it upon themselves to decide who does or does not have access/rights to a community or identity.
Useful for controlling people.

Illusory Truth Effect

Repeated exposure to a false statement increases our tendency to believe it is true.
Researchers have discovered that familiarity can overpower rationality.
When truth is assessed, people rely on
  1. whether the information is in line with their understanding, or
  2. if it feels familiar.
The 1st condition is logical.
The 2nd condition is less logical, and can be easily abused by those seeking to manipulate others.

Brandolini’s Law (AKA The Bullsh*t Asymmetry Principle)

The amount of energy needed to refute bullsh*t is almost always larger than the energy that was needed to produce it.
This denotes that it’s generally much easier to say something without concern for things such as the truth, evidence, or logic, than it is to prove that what was said is wrong.
This type of statement can be very easy to produce, since it’s essentially meaningless, and requires no evidence or proper reasoning. Conversely, debunking such statements requires much more effort, since they have no clear meaning that can be refuted in the first place.

Emotional Blackmail

Using fear, obligation, and guilt (FOG) to control someone.
Emotional blackmailers ensure that others feel:
  1. Afraid to cross them,
  2. Obligated to give them their way,
  3. Swamped by guilt if they resist.

Double Bind

Two conflicting demands, each on a different logical level, neither of which can be ignored or escaped. This leaves the subject torn both ways, so that whichever demand they try to meet, the other demand cannot be met. "I must do it, but I can't do it" is a typical description of the double-bind experience.
Double binds are often utilized as a form of control without open coercion—the use of confusion and/or guilt makes them difficult both to respond to and to resist.
For a double bind to be effective, the subject must be unable to confront or resolve the conflict between the demand placed by the primary injunction and that of the secondary injunction. In this sense, the double bind differentiates itself from a simple contradiction to a more inexpressible internal conflict, where the subject really wants to meet the demands of the primary injunction, but fails each time through an inability to address the situation's incompatibility with the demands of the secondary injunction. Thus, subjects may express feelings of extreme anxiety in such a situation, as they attempt to fulfill the demands of the primary injunction albeit with obvious contradictions in their actions.

Cognitive Dissonance (cont’d because it’s very important)

Cognitive dissonance is the feeling of discomfort you get when you are holding two contradictory beliefs at once, or when your actions contradict your core beliefs. It’s a tension between two competing realities that your mind is attempting to simultaneously accept.
Example: Imagine you are confronting a sunbather with the information that excessive sun exposure is the leading cause of skin cancer.
The sunbather will then have two conflicting thoughts:
  1. “Sunbathing is likely to cause cancer.”
  2. “I am sunbathing.”
This will cause the discomfort of cognitive dissonance. This feeling motivates the sunbather to reduce this uncomfortable feeling, and there are 4 possible ways they might do that:
1) They change their behavior.
2) They change one of the two competing thoughts.
3) They trivialize the inconsistency.
4) They add “consonant thoughts,” which are thoughts that justify or reduce the importance of one of the two competing thoughts, thereby diminishing the inconsistency.

Consonance

The opposite of dissonance.
Agreement/compatibility of beliefs and actions.

Integrity

Another opposite of dissonance.

2023.10.18 13:42 oliverfelixrene Warning: Danish Nordic Hair Growth is scam!

Hey all,
I’m a Danish citizen who wishes to warn you all against NordicHairGrowth.com since they have many customers from abroad
The company claims on its website that its products can treat androgenic alopecia and that it blocks DTH in the scalp
Ingredients are nowhere to be found so I sent them an email in Danish asking for the ingredients. The ingredients were basically snake oil so when I confronted them about the ingredients they told me that their product was not suitable for alopecia which is in contrast to what they state on their website:
ibb .co /R2XbKXZ (without spaces)
(I censored the name because she is just a support employee, and probably knows nothing about male androgenic alopecia, and not the founder of the company. She didn't write all their false advertising. I'm not going to put the name out on someone who is just trying to make a living)
The ingredients they use are:
Water
Hyaluronic acid: They say it moisturizes the scalp and keeps it moisturized
Vitamin E: They say it’s an antioxidant that protects hair and scalp against damage from free radicals
Propylene glycol: They say it prevents your hair and scalp from drying out
Collagen: They say it’s a protein that strengthens hair and improves elasticity
RP-24: They claim it’s a patented ingredient specifically designed for hair loss. They claim it is well recognized and well researched into supporting hair follicles and promotes growth
I confronted them about RP-24 since I never heard of it. (That was before they came out via email and said their product is not suitable for androgenetic alopecia.)
Nothing exists on the internet for RP-24 besides an amphetamine for treating ADHD. So they are lying and don't have a patent on anything
Besides that, they claim on their website that a 150-day clinical study showed that their product is the most effective product for activating hair growth and preventing further hair loss.
They claim 96% activation of existing hair growth and preventing further hair loss. It's a very bold statement to make for snake oil.
Like the missing ingredients on their website, there are no links or sources to the clinical trial.
I have been in contact with the Danish Health Authority who suggested I complain to Forbrugerombudsmanden
To everyone abroad who considered buying from them, you have now been warned :)
Update:
The company just got back to me by e-mail again saying that they don't directly say their product treats androgenetic alopecia. They say the text explains androgenetic alopecia and that their product can reduce DHT. So their product can have a positive impact but not directly treat it
I mean it's just shady as hell. Their website is in English so feel free to go there and check “The Science” tab there. They heavily imply that their product treats androgenetic alopecia :)
If you go to their About section they even say that their parent company has specialized in treating androgenetic alopecia since 1999. When I look the parent company up there is no information about them besides their name is very similar to another big company in the Danish technology industry. I was however able to find them on a Danish business site that tracks companies through CVR number but they were created in 2017 and not 1999 like they claim.
If there is interest in the post I don't mind posting all emails although they are in Danish
I now asked them to specify on email which ingredient treats DHT. They dodged my question. Not long ago they claimed RP-24 did. A drug I can't find anything on. Apparently, it is also 96% effective in preventing further hair loss.
How can a company claim they don't treat androgenetic alopecia and yet have a product that beats both Finasteride and Dutasteride in a clinical trial they won't link either on their website?
Update: Reported them to the Danish Ombudsmand after EU referred me to them. Ombudsmanden could not take the case due to having too many cases despite sending proof. They sent them a warning/legal letter though that I got to see too with some paragraphs. Nordic Hair Growth ended up changing their website removing all their lies and making more accurate statements on there.

2023.10.01 21:32 hijoput4 The "Wokes".

Since the recent troll attack, some of the little goblins out there still keep repeating that I don't know what "woke" is and other wanted an explanation (I'm assuming they are not in the US).
Well here is the explanation. I'm asking the reader to leave the extremisms aside for a while, not everything is black or white as many of these "woke" movements started with good causes but later got highjacked. This means while today woke movements are a geopolitical tool, and are filled with pre-adults that little know about anything, sometimes they do have reasons and its important to be able to separate things.

The profile of adepts:

They are mostly composed of young people. But there are a lot of adults involved too, mostly in public propaganda places (media, politics). Young people have been raised in a new era of disinformation. And I mean REAL disinformation, not what US and vasals say its disinformation. Disregarding science, negating all that is possibly going against what they think (including facts) and hating with retro-activity (historic revisionism).
These young people are mostly bombarded with pop-culture telling them to focus their lives on trends (generated by corporations; that's where the fanboys comes from after all) and new-age.
Since they are confused and frustrated in their real lives they became "neo-hippies", against politics and only caring about entertainment, sex and new-age spiritual stuff in some cases. For some of them, science is not to be believed in as they think they have been lied (for some reason). For others science is just a bunch of reasons they came up with to explain their ideas. Love is used as a slogan but its far from that, in reality these pre-adults are the same as always, discriminating, hating, fighting, censoring and attackning others as always. It serves well the purpose for corporations. Corpos know how these young people behaves and use it to their advantage. Moral marketing if you want. To sum it up: manipulable frustrated young people, taught by media to disregard facts and science and told to be combative, to push their agendas.

So what is it?

These young people just abide by these new ""rules/trends"" imposed: LGBT, BLM, ecologists(extremists), neo-feminists, vegans, flat earthers, anti-vaccines, and all the other [social problems] sub-cultures. The term "WOKE" comes from "waking up" being "awaken", "being conscious of social problems". They feel enlightened, different, special and we all know that is called playing with someone's ego...
To the casual reader, the [social problems] agenda may sound like it has nothing bad, and that is precisely the entry point and how it washes its face all the time. These movements may have started organically to try to fix problems in society, but they were highjacked by the establishment using their social media (big tech) to become like religions, using influencers, empowered and becoming very combative to the point reason is no longer needed and is combated. They don't really know that they are being used and think their lives have a meaning by carrying those flags; there is a flavor for everyone to choose on which "movement" to take part.
In the case of LGBT, its science against "emotions". They say being transexual is perfectly normal, a man thinking/wanting to be a woman is normal. No science here, if a person is born a man but thinks its a woman, so be it. Imagine the consecuences in large scale of this path with people convinced of this. I've discussed this with wokes and they have a complete disregard for science (in this case, biological gender). They negate that this is a mental illness called gender dysphoria and that should be treated to at least permit the patient to become aware of the situation and accept his biological gender; keeping his sexual tastes (being gay) and having a normal life for him and the people around him.
In the case of BLM (Black Lives Matter), its about raw confrontation. Everything could be taken (used) as "insults" or "discrimination". Now, don't take me wrong, US has a TERRIBLE racial discrimination problem. Its funny, because they are the ones telling other nations how to behave. They "export" this conflict (or try to) when possible.
Neo-feminists are another hate group (do not confuse with real feminism). There are a huge mix of women who really suffered abuses and extremists pouring fuel into the fire, making the movement one of the "untouchables" because moral condemnation. Nobody is in a position to go against their violence-calling agenda. They talk about being better than men instead of equal, and are constantly pushing a gender war. Their targets are usually famous people as they are easy to ruin. The agenda is so hard-pushed that now women are starting to be "obligatory" even in places where a man may be better at the position. All in the name of morals and fear. NOTE: of course a woman can excel any man in many activities but the opposite is also true, so WHY ARTIFICIALLY PUSH IT?, conscience is already here, we are not in 1800. Its done.
The US is using these social agendas to create chaos in foreign soil while keeping the locals under control. Revolts on other countries are supported. Woke agendas are an instrument that no one can defy without being socialy condemned. Well, they thought that before the war against Russia; "Russia won't do anything because of worldwide condemnation"... and here we are, go read about BRICS.
All these woke movements have something in common: censorship or how we are being told its called now: "cancelation culture". Fascism in other "more common" words. Do as we say or we silence you by force. Banned news agencies, social networks, forums, you name it.
Its the perfect way to use censorship over masses without being attacked for it, using the people against their own, and in turn maybe even stand as the "good guy". Its perfect, its working and its perverse.
They are all being funded by american NGO's. That is US government is paying them indirectly to keep the struggle going on forward and push the agendas into the whole world.

Examples of what they are being used for:

If you are still here, I recommend you watch the documentary "Revolutions Factory" which centers mostly on geopolitical events in the arab spring, but touches many themes in what we know now as "woke" and how its organized.

2023.09.19 18:31 healthy-Tip02 Scorch Protocol Preparation for Beginners (Long Covid Variation)

Scorch Protocol Preparation for Beginners (Long Covid Variation)
Scorch Protocol Preparation for Beginners (Long Covid Variation)

A simplified version ideally for beginners to the scorch protocol that distills everything to the most important parts

The beginners scorch protocol is to fill a niche that has been asked of me way too often when helping someone out that is preparing to dry fast for long covid or a similar autoimmune disease. The min-max official scorch protocol is scary and overbearing, as well as pretty complicated. I try to explain that it is simply a guideline if you were wanting to min-max the situation. There's also a few missing pieces in it, but overall the skeleton still stands. This protocol aims to distill it even further for simplification. If this is still too much for you, then compress it further until you hit the poor man's scorch protocol preparation guide listed below:
https://preview.redd.it/lxsolx7go8pb1.png?width=676&format=png&auto=webp&s=60cf205827e33868a6725c01db58ebcb3363c26f
💡The Scorch Protocol is free to all (just requires a free sub on the site) and is a min-maxing approach that works for any disease. It does not include covid specific medications nor any specific relapse instructions, as a lot of them are not google search engine friendly.
The concept here is to:
  1. Prepare the body with a low carb diet to enter your first dry fast/s in an easier way, because you’ll already be in mild/moderate ketosis. You can avoid the keto flu.
  2. Hydrate up the day before while maintaining decently low carb, using some hacks, and getting the big mineral dose.
  3. Keeping the digestive system clean by tapering into a light last day of eating, by specific foods and certain parasites cleanses.
  4. Anticipate and head off the reactivation of latent viruses on first day of the dry fast (body under stress situation)
  5. Hit potential nutritional deficiencies and stock up on key vitamins.
  6. Make it as simple as possible for beginners without min-maxing too hard.

Simplified Version for Long Covid and Immune Diseases

💡I will build out the explanations more still but it was vital that I release this asap since there are a few people on the cusp of their second dry fast that need this.
This protocol is assuming you are preparing at least 3 days in advance. You can go longer or shorter, depending on your circumstances, BMI, and length of fast being attempted.
The simplicity in this is the fact that every single supplement being used here is also being used in the refeed, where it is X times more important. So you are not wasting money buying different things for both prep and refeed. The goal here is to fill nutritional needs and deficiencies before the fast. Prepping both vitamins and minerals that will be quickly depleted, so it gives you a leg up on the start. This article is hidden and only for members because it contains medications that google would censor me for, unfortunately. The supplements and medications used here are used successfuly by many, and I believe they are fundamental to successfully pushing the needle in the journey of healing, especially for long covid. You'll notice that dry fasting practitioners like Filonov know very little about long covid, and speculate a lot about it, while I've lived it, healed it, and am helping many other long haulers heal too. There are a few other experimental/advanced techniques that I am not willing to disclose here because a) they are controversial and b) because they are still in experimental stages showing amazing results, but not enough data points to make me comfortable recommending them.
Please remember that the Athletic Greens represents a bioavailable multivitamin that is easy to take and doesn’t require a cupboard of vitamins and trace minerals. I think there is incredible value here, and I also recommend taking half doses if a full dose feels like too much. You are able to go on the site and change your shipping to once every 2 months instead and basically save 50%. Use this referral code to get some extra perks like free Vitamin D+K2 and free travel packs.

2023.09.17 00:20 starsmisaligned Meds struggles

My 10yo daughter is not your textbook ADHD kid. She is very self aware, self-conscious withdrawn. She is very inattentive and highly emotionally volitile. She generally censors her speech so much that she apologizes when she speaks. She also goes into blind rage red zone when things get too much to keep in. (Usually only at home in her safe place but sometimes in transitions to and from school.) She is generally not that hyperactive, or impulsive but sometimes with her brother she gets amped up and out of control.

I have wondered if ADHD is correct diagnosis since meds have not been the big fix we hoped they would. We have tried all the stimulants and non stims and are trying combinations now. Generally although stimulants help somewhat in terms of executive functions they extremely dysregulate her emotionally. We have tried them all, and all the formulations over the course of 4 years. We have tried adding magnesium, b vitamins fish oil, and try to have a healthy lifestyle. The non stimulants help her stay emotionally regulated much better but do almost nothing for exective functioning. I am loosing hope there is no combo or formulation that will work for her. The only non stimulant we havent tried is Strattera.

Right now we are on guanfacine+sertraline for mood and its ok without a stimulant, but she is struggling at school to remember tasks, keep track things and get her work done. This is severly affecting her self esteem which feeds back into the emotional dysregulation. We've tried in the past adding ritalin or adderall/vyvanse to this combo with terrible results to her mood stability. I feel like keeping her regulated is the most important, but need to help her develop more executive functioning before she crashes and burns in middle school.

She sees a counselor, has friends, does activities and has an good diet/sleep routine. She has attended OT for a while and has supports at school. Her Dr. Doesnt think we should consider ASD diagnosis bc she doesnt see enough signs its ASD. I do wonder if its something else besides ADHD. I'm doing everything for her treatment I know how to do. Any suggestions or point me in a different direction?

Thanks!

2023.08.19 23:18 thepensiveporcupine Why would Lexapro work for anxiety and not depression?

21F, 5’4, 140lbs
Diagnoses: Anxiety, depression, autism (Aspergers), IBS, GERD, vitamin B12, vitamin D, and iron deficiencies
Meds: 20mg Lexapro and hormonal birth control
Drinks alcohol and uses cannabis occasionally
I have been on various antidepressants since I was 11 and only briefly took a break when I was around 13. I can’t give a full medical history because it’s too complicated, and for privacy reasons. But the general trend is that I have needed to be on SSRIs for half of my life due to anxiety. I only recently put together that my anxiety is likely due to autism (I was diagnosed with Aspergers when I was 8 but have had doubts from professionals, even though I have most of the traits). I also struggle with severe persistent depression, since I was around 16, and have not had any relief from these meds. The only thing that SSRIs have helped with is reducing panic attacks, but I still have a lot of anxiety and am s**cidal (censored because I don’t want this removed). Basically, I’m reliant on these meds because if I try to get off, my panic attacks come back. I definitely need to consult a new psychiatrist because mine hasn’t been helping much, but what I’m really wondering is why Lexapro would only (partially) work for anxiety and not at all with depression. It’s just embarrassing to tell people I’m depressed, only for them to tell me to go on antidepressants when I have my entire life.

2023.08.13 00:17 Mastiff37 Vitamin K

I tried this on the other carnivore subs, but was unable to pass the censors. I hope this spot is a little more open. I've been carnivore for a few years, but not perfect: a few berries now and then, and some avocado. I was paleo/keto for a number of years before that.
I recently got some nasty broken blood vessels in my eye ("subconjunctival hemorrhage"). Harmless they say, but so incredibly awkward socially when you look like a demon. One one day and the other two days later, so it seems systemic. It made me wonder if I could be deficient in vitamin K, which aids in coagulation. Bruising is the number one symptom of K deficiency, which these eye bleeds basically are.
I eat mostly beef, pork, eggs, cheese, yogurt, some chicken and fish, plus a few berries as mentioned, but not much. The internet tells me K comes mostly from leafy greens which I eat none of.
Might I be deficient from the diet, and does anyone supplement?

2023.08.05 01:12 brandon8or Truthnado For Humanity

I'd like to firstly say the intended consumption of my poem is spoken word so here is the link for that https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjSWgDEQbhY&ab_channel=Brandon8or
A 14-minute Slam Poem I wrote throughout the month of June and July and recorded and edited on July 31st and August 1st, 2023. for those strictly classical poet peeps, I must warn you that this poem is very contemporary.
I can't stop you from reading the poem before listening but it's more impactful with my delivery and with the background music to drive what I say either way or order you choose I will strongly suggest listening to the intended audio version in general. also please excuse any spelling errors or punctuation mess-ups as the written form was only intended for me to read aloud. without further a do here's the poem in written form:
Stars hover between stirring embers Sweet slumber starts to rumble Words stalling I start to wonder Why shall a hide my tongue The words grumble at my teeth That Won't even unclench for death My eyes hover between gaping pupils The words in a frenzy freeze behind my larynx “I’m Tired.” A spark lands gently on my lips which ignites the fuse that previously refused to light Now lit the fuse depletes until the words explode from my mouth I'm tired of thinking about What's killing all these people before the age of twenty-seven, is it because you can't live more than three years until 30? Is 30 really so bad it must be avoided at all costs so much so that when you get to 30 you get a bad back and your memories become lost? but what about the golden years, your really gonna dig through all this dirt to find you give up before the golden years, nay, even before the silver and brass years? I'm guessing before the dirt years the shit years must be from 7 to 17 I mean look at the school system that moulds these kids to the perfect paradigm for perfectionist parents that try to perfect the imperfections that make them, them and if that wasn't enough Some of those perfectly molded pubescent pigs will prod at the pariahs sigh It's a pungent practice Of plowing poor powerless people’s Paths of stairs and ladders Ladders and stairs that carry them Over the hurdles of life but In a world where people are Petty pricks picking on poor Powerless people There will be the select few Who make a promise to themselves To never be picked on by Powerless petty pricks
I pity the petty powerless pricks For picking on powerful people who made a promise to not be picked apart by pests
I pray for the petty powerless pricks Who prey on the powerful promise, promised people Because they punch back
One who promised themselves To never get stepped on Will not break that promise Promise me this Even though you will Pry misty eyes To see your preys eyes Remember this It's All fun n games til someone dyes Their shell a transparent hue From an opaque shade Because when they show their true color You will finally notice the blade But by then it will already be too late Because it's already in your side So promise me this To never step on The one who promised themselves They would never be stepped on again Because if you do Don't act surprised when somebody dies
There's one other thing that participates in the prying and prodding Of the perspective of A preteens precious life and it's a plague where the only meaningful thing in life is the meaning they find on a screen filled with shitposts of memes that teach our generation that their nothing more than a consumer and peddler of emotional greed Let this be a warning to those who heedIn a millennium Archeologists will explore Al Gores monster And scrounge for scraps that when scraped together will spell out a scream for help Not help from AI but a screaming plead for the last remaining humans to pry their surgically sutured headsets off of their skulls and use their biologically weakened eyes To see only but a blur of the atrocity that has become of society a society run on the emotional vulnerability of the masses right now we have it safe for we live in a dream that has only just begun to crawl but once it begins to walk and form words the dream will reveal its true form a nightmare That's why we must band together and murder the media we call social Cause Their aint nothing Social about it, its fake faced double crossing data suckers that sell your identity, That you buy right back they don't give a shit about your life your only a few zeros and ones on some succubus’s screen when they make you think you need to buy what you need to set your life free they get a pat on the back and a dose of vitamin D open your eyes in these trying time The only thing you're buying is a temporary high once the novelty is lost you’ll look for the next best thing you might think you're getting somewhere buying all these things but you're only chasing your tail on a screen A screen, nay a veil a veil I call hell a hell that consists of swiping tapping liking hating buying testing texting dating rating posting baiting leaking fighting baited groomed mated breeded faded paid it bought it got it put it into the drawer when it gets outdated digging deeper to the point you’re misunderstood doing everything anyone would but in the end, most feel faded stripped numb or hated so you find yourself liking and sharing a post about how much you related to feeling faded stripped numb or hated So Beat the modern-day plague and delete your meaning from a screen Don't base your life off of other people’s shitposts and memes Break free from the shackles of a piece of plastic and glass And Treat your life like treasure because treasure it will be Cause Your life is A priceless thing Even though a puppeteer has stamped a price tag upon your forehead you don't need to agree to anyone's best offer because your life is not to be bartered in fact the puppeteer lowers the price if you refuse to follow the pied piper To the point where the price on your head becomes a target in the shape of a zero for rats to point at and laugh because in their eyes you're worth nothing, less than nothing After all, who in their right mind wants to buy a worthless defected puppet, the only thing they will think is welp you get what you pay for but something they will never ever get is that the best things in life are freeBesides Who wants any sort of worth if your worth is an invisible societal construct that was simply created to blind everyone who follows Nevertheless, those who follow will end up in the gallows in debt to a ghost, with the fate of a sacrificial goat, a slave to the host of the ringleader's banquet in which you're not allowed to eat at We crawl on the floor and beg for more but ill let you in on a secret we're all fighting for crumbs down here unless you decide to climb the petticoat of the ringleader's mother and slither up her fanny to consume the fetus I doubt we’ll ever get out because she'll forever spawn nepotic rulers who groom each other with their rotten tongues all the while they rape the innocence of the young ones Needless to say, they don't like their em ripe They'd rather molest a child than make love to their wife void of any reason but to add a link to the chain that wraps around the world to keep it together... Sike! It is a snake that injects carcinogenic venom into the world's lungs All the while playing with their little bombs when they go off nobody will know But doesn't that make you question why they run the show? Maybe the solution for us all isn't to escape or stay but to say fuck it either way And transcend the superficial rulers of this dying rock in the sky and say goodbye to the power dynamic that is as brittle as ceramic if you take away the structure that provides a breeding ground for the ideology of divide and conquer. Before the only remaining traces of these words get lost in time I will plant it right here in digital form accessible until it is censored by the dogs we may even call gods some day we are all a part of the same team against the true oppressor so if your feeling pressure to be aggressive against a race you label as an aggressor remember two wrongs don't make a right or a left because whether your left or right doesn't matter because none of it is correct so you must truly realize whose blocking your sight and to be perfectly blunt the answer is some of you, you and your twisted perspective of a borderline genocidal solution to a problem that doesn't even exist anymore. you know who you are and the true power within and outside of you on this side of history even more than I and I know you would take pride in the fall of a race that you know has done nothing at all for the last 100 years even though some, a few generations later are still going strong but to generalize us with them is like saying every German is a nazi even though the majority of Germany has repented for the sins of two to three generations before believe me when I say some of us repent for four I suppose it's because we share one thing with in common with the monsters that ran the slave trade and residential schools back in the day, and it consists solely of the amount of melanin we possess and display and for some it's also a last name but excuse me while i digress midway and explain my personal side and the reason why i don't regret the actions that my ancestors played number one i had zero control over what my ancestors did and it only matters of what i am now and 2 my ancestors provided reindeer for santa okay and ill tell you with certainty it wont stop me from raising my fist to the true oppressors of today neither should you no matter what your lineage has done before you were even born neither should you feel guilt if your ancestors did wrong because you are the way you are because somewhere inbetween you and a bigot was someone who reconized the hatred and abandoned the pattern so if anything take pride in that but if you are someone who carries the hateful torch to this day it's not too late to let go before you are the reason someone dyes their shell from a transparent hue to an opaque shade to the point you will see very clearly the hate you point towards them points right back at you. I wanted also to provide A message to those that want to dish out justice for the atrocities your ancestors sustained so I will quote a wise man named Gandhi: an eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind I hope everyone who still heeds my pleas hears me say this clear You are not imitations and copies you are in full factuality kings and queens of your destiny But you very well may be under pressure from your modern-day dream But If your life is a whisper, you must scream! Scream the words that make you feel free because free speech may not last until you fulfill your dream If you have to ask what's killing everyone before the age of even seventeen maybe the real question should be what's saving them Because it sure as hell isn't what you claim it to be maybe what's saving them is Something that fills them with laughter to distract them from the disaster they've been spoonfed since birth, the bombardment of lies and empty promises to restore their self-worth with words that come from the same mouths of the masses who cry out canceled when someone has the courage to speak out against the cancer that riddles the worlds lungs, lungs that breath heavy as it is, heavy as eight billion people that cannot find anything to fight but themselves they call people like us Clowns and carnies that pop pills only to be carried out on gurneys why? To get high, high enough to taste the sky before it gets eaten by rats that have an insatiable hunger for Swiss cheese, rats that take life too seriously and death not seriously enough because when you fight another brother from another mother in another motherland one way or another you only get sent out to die, so why bother to try. Try for a country that hasn't even bared witness to the absolute beauty of your life so stand tall and Rise up push down break the mould burn the gown and the vale doctrine because you're not married to the idea society has conjured in its stale cauldron Breathe in breathe out cry sweat but never bleed out If you end up 6 feet underground rise up Find life spit doubt fly far above the storm clouds Cast your ashes to the wind scream loud make it heard from the peak of heaven to the pit of hell n yell I WIN Not because you won the battle but because you won the war against the oppressors That know nothing more than the ID number that's been branded into the back of your head and how to waste your precious time on this devastatingly beautiful rock in the sky, your precious time you can spend to revel the battle scars you earned because time heals all wounds and you made it far enough to see those very wounds become scars time recognizes effort because it shows in the eyes And With those eyes that age like fine wine appreciate the little things like Swaying trees the smell of the breeze rip a fart, eat a bananaWhatever the fuck it is, find enjoyment in that and Remember that spark when you were a child and hold on to it, never let go of it Cause What starts as a spark is made to be a flame a flame to set a blaze everything that reminds you of the shit years between 7 to 17 because the toughest times can be used as the best kindling to fuel a blaze that can be used to warm your heart even on the darkest days.
I call it the shit years not because it's shitty but because nothing grows from a heap of shit better than a fungi or girl or whatever mushroom you want to be because the shit don't discriminate better yet the shit doesn't give a shit, unlike other pieces of shit. Nobody is more fun than anyone who's been through the shit and outgrew it And through growth can joke about the shit they've been through Afterall laughter is the best medicine and doc we need an intravenous of that shit stat because were sick Sick and tired of the bullshit were doomed to be spoonfed until we die but one man's doom can be another man's pleasure and believe me when I say I take pleasure in laughing in the face of mine own adversities because I know for certain that they will pass For what life takes there is always contrast.

2023.07.13 06:22 Tachikomaia Without help how to discover for each competition the way of playing in which the best average score is obtained?

I don't know where I should start to explain the doubt but I will explain everything I can about it, be patient.
A competition is, for example, trying to pass a video game by pressing a certain button as few times as possible. That competition is won by whoever passes the game by pressing the certain button the fewest times. In that competition a player's score is the number of button presses. In this case, the smaller the better, but in others it is different. A competition can also involve using cheats or the like at a certain point, usually at the start, for example to make a character less powerful.
I don't know how to define what the best average score is, maybe it's actually not a correct expression, but consider these 3 attacks from GBC's Pokémon Trading Card Game (in normal circumstances, not if the enemy used Harden for example):
Stone Barrage: It can do between 0 and infinite damage, but on average it does 10 (I think).
Flare: Does 20 damage, on average too.
Dancing Embers: It can do between 0 and 80 damage points, on average it does 40.
The 1st can do infinite damage if you have infinite luck (or you know how to manipulate it in the game, but I don't like that), but on average only 10. The 2nd always does 20, on average it's better than the 1st. And the 3rd is still better on average, but it's not certain. I am looking for the 3rd: In a competition, the way to obtain the best average score, that is, one that with bad luck can be less, or with luck it can be more, and that is beatable with other ways of playing if you are very lucky when applying them. By using only Stone Barrage and having a lot of luck you could defeat all the enemies in one hit, but with normal luck it takes a lot. Using just Flare generally requires less. And using Dancing Embers even less in general (unless they put a lot of 10 or 20 HP enemies, but like I said I'm not considering that kind of things, just trying to explain what I mean by best average).
Without help refers to, let's say: I don't want that you give me the fish but to be taught to fish, I don't want that you tell me how to win but rather how to discover how to win. I don't want to read guides, etc., on how a game works or what should be done in it, I want to discover it myself, but I do want that you tell me how to discover it myself, a method that doesnt involve googling, etc.
I describe a method that I haven't been able to define quite right: Improve it, make a better one, I don't know, science teachers didn't teach me about this.
Stage 1: Things to keep in mind before starting the game (if you find it too boring go to stage 2).
Step 1: If you want, before playing the game, find out if there is a prequel, predecessor or something like that. While I've never had a problem with this, I would have liked to have played 46 Okunen Monogatari: The Shinka Ron on PC before playing EVO: Search for the Eden on SNES. In general, playing the older game first is more enjoyable than the new one, since the quality we demand increases and there may then come a point where we cannot enjoy the older games. But if you have very little time you should play the ones which are said to be the best, I guess. It should also be taken into account that some games are pirated and claim to be called Street Fighter 4, for example, but they are not from the real saga. I had one called that on the Famicom. Don't judge a game just by being a predecessoafter another, there can be big differences.
Step 2: If you want to know the history of the game, be sure to read the real one, because if it was made in Japan, for example, when it is released elsewhere they can modify it, and for the worse. But the only case I know of that is 8 Eyes from NES: The story that the English manual says, Wikipedia, etc, is different from the story in Japanese, they even changed the final text of the game, the image shown there is not It makes sense with that text (in the Japanese version yes, the text is much more interesting and in line with the original story).
Step 3: Find out which version you're likely to like the most. Significant differences I've seen in various games:
- Is it the normal version or is it a demo/pirate. Obvious to you, but when I didn't know that there were demos (on the Famicom there wasn't that, nobody told me that on PC there was), in a game it was said that there were castles or things like that in certain places and I never saw them, I was confused , then I found out or assumed it, but I lost time. As for the pirate stuff, I'm not sure that's why it was, but there was a McMario game or something like that, on the Famicom, where there comes a point where it seems impossible to move on. The original game is McKids for the NES. Well, also before I got to know Adventure Island 3 I got to know Bros 11, which is the same but you play with Mario, throw coconuts and start with 30 dinosaurs and so on. Since I played badly, when I got to know the original version I didn't like it, I was also a fan of Mario.
- When your character levels up, their stats increase by a certain amount, or less: 7th Saga for SNES. I didn't check it, but in the version I played the rivals become more and more invincible it seems no matter how good the game is played (I used guides and played a lot of RPGs), that doesn't seem to make sense, it seems true then.
- Your base stands or is destroyed after completing a mission: Famicom Raid on Bungeling Bay. If it's destroyed it's harder to get bombs and not lose a life (then the base respawns), not much fun unless you play greatly.
- You have infinite items or not, Mario becomes small again if he is hit with a flower, feather, etc., or remains big (small if he is hit again): Super Mario Bros 3 from Famicom. Maybe it was a pirated version, the 2nd thing is not good, but when we were kids we liked to have infinite items: We didn't play well, one couldn't save the game in that game and it didn't have passwords, it's nice to be able to use the flute and go to the world that you want fast instead of having to spend several time before.
- Attack damage is displayed or not: Downtown Special Kunio-kun's Historical Period Drama! Perhaps you prefer that it not be shown, I prefer that it is.
- Faster music, game probably too: Adventure Island 1. It has several alternate names. I like the version I said better (but I don't know if it has that name, I don't know what region it is from).
- More options but more difficult: Final Fantasy 4 SNES. Compared to FF2 on SNES, I've heard. I think that with more options it is better, but I suppose that nowadays it is not convenient to play those but newer versions. Not to be confused with Final Fantasy 2 for the NES and other consoles, it is quite confusing. On the Game Boy there are also games called Final Fantasy which I've heard are actually Legend of Mana or also Romancing Saga.
- Longer and more difficult scenario: NES Battletoads. If the game is already too difficult, better to play the easy version at first. I don't know which one it is, Japanese, European, I don't know. On the Famicom I played a version where pressing up and start would restore lives, many games had that trick.
- Censored, modified drawings. This happens in many games. Today maybe not (well, it depends on the country, in some the game is not even allowed even if they modify it). I don't think I missed much, but well. Generally they put more clothes on female characters who have only a few, they remove cigarettes and I have also seen that they remove crosses. Earthbound/Mother would be the most notable case I know of, but there must be more extremes. Of course, if 8 Eyes was censored, that would be one.
Step 4: Keep in mind that many games have errors and the information they give is not always true or complete, in fact there are incomplete games. I am not referring to graphical errors or strange things that can happen, which is well known, but let's say mathematical errors: For example, according to what I read, in Final Fantasy 5 for SNES, the damage of knives depends on agility but due to an error (or who knows) only the last digit of the variable is considered or something like that, then increasing agility is not always better. In 8 Eyes, when you beat a boss, they tell you that you got a more powerful sword, but according to what I read, it's a lie (I don't remember if they say that in English in the Japanese version as well): According to its color, it's more powerful only against a certain boss, and in fact it is weaker against certain other. In the first Pokemon games (I don't know in the newer ones) they tell you that certain attacks are super effective or not very effective, but there are sub-cases in that that are not mentioned as if they were something different, let's say: Hyper effective and almost useless. When my high leveled Charizard died from a few stones I thought it was a game error, and I also didn't understand why my Gyarados would drop like flies sometimes. In PS1 Frontier Saga, if what I read about it is true, when they tell you the defense that armor gives, they are really telling you only one type of defense, and it happens that certain items have little of that and a lot of others, and other armors the reverse, so you could think some armours are good/bad but they may be the contrary. Finally, that game and a couple more of SNES of Square were not finished, that is, there are events that cannot be caused, people that cannot be saved or things that do not seem to make sense, which I guess were improved in newer versions, for newer consoles. In short, don't rely too much on the game working without math errors and don't trust the information the game gives you.
Stage 2: Learn the basics of the game (if you find it too boring go to stage 3).
Step 1: For a while just watch. Many games at startup have a video that starts only if no buttons are pressed and shows what happened in their world. They also often have videos showing some things that can be done in the game.
Step 2: Start the game, usually accomplished by pressing the Start button, Enter key, etc. In many cases you have to wait a bit after that, in some you actually have to wait for a video like the one I mentioned in step 1 to finish, which sometimes doesn't appear at that moment but now. It can also happen that there are descriptions or dialogues that require you to press buttons to bring up more text/action and at a certain point the game starts, but if it's a visual novel it will happen most of the time. In strategy and RPG games it almost always happens at the beginning.
Step 3: Identify if the game is in its "normal" or menu state. While there are games that have or can have both states at the same time, and there may be games that have another state (perhaps there already is), in general this determines what it's convenient to do.
In case of menus, see which buttons move the cursor, which buttons apply what the cursor points to, and which buttons return to the previous menu. In some games it is possible to make a cursor point to several places at once, either by pressing a button or by moving it outside of the options. There may also be buttons that open other menus or bring up new options if you move the cursor outside, where there was nothing. There are cases where pressing certain buttons at the same time executes actions that don't appear in the menus, but generally the game says that, it doesn't seem sane to try each button combination in each set of menus to see if something interesting happens (one should even try button sequences, of which there are many games in which they are applicable in the initial menu, but people also tend to say them on the Internet, before in video game magazines: Probably the creators of the games reveal them or in some cases the game itself when it comes to its end). Perhaps in some game, depending on which button an option is chosen with, it is applied in one way or another (it happens in some SNES Street Fighter, but it is simply that the colors of the characters change; I mean something like a magic is applied using the normal amount of mana or all available).
In case of "normal" state, press a button without releasing it and see what happens. Release it and see what happens. Repeat this for each button, taking into account the different conditions that the charactegame may be in, since the result may vary depending on that. Generally, before pressing a button, it is convenient for the charactegame to return to its initial state (once step 2 has been completed). Then start testing the buttons under abnormal conditions, the most common being while the character is airborne. Trying to press a button, hold it, and press others, for example down + jump is common to do something special. When I was a kid I didn't know that in the NES game Contra you could aim diagonally... Someone explained it to me and I had a hard time understanding it. In fighting games, I did the techniques by pressing diagonal + punch for example, but on one side of the screen one was executed and on the other side another: The correct thing (although not always faster) is to press the buttons in a certain order, for example example is very common below, forward + punch. It is also common that by pressing forward twice the character runs, but I passed the Famicom Goal 3 without knowing it. I was never good at pressing specific buttons having many options, at specific times, to make combos, or just sequences with directions. I suppose that the creators of the games also reveal these things, otherwise, the recommended thing would be to hit a kick button for example while also hitting the directions, and if something special happens, repeat the process avoiding pressing up, and so on, gradually reducing the buttons that are crushed to see if it continues to happen or not. Then with a punch button and so on. Then several of those buttons at once. There are also techniques that require you to have pressed a button for a while. If you're in a place where you don't know what to do in an adventure game, button mashing can also help. For example, it happened to me with Mega Man on the NES before I learned how to do the sweep.
Step 4: Play, think about what could be possible and how to achieve it, or what would happen if certain actions are performed. In short, before moving on to the next stage, you have to know the game a lot, but I don't know how much, or how much is necessary.
Stage 3: Make the simplest plan and repeat the following: Apply the plan, write things down about it, and make a plan that is structurally a little more complex and based on results from previous plans/experiments.
Step 1: Make the simplest plan. A plan is a set of rules to apply, for example this in Pokemon Red from GB: In battles use only Bulbasaur and Tackle, do not buy/use items (this last one seems silly but there are competitions that ask to spend as little money as possible and/ or use items as few items as possible). There are many details/exceptions about that that need to be clarified, but I want to get to the point, you can more or less assume what they are. I propose to choose the simplest, as it is, because developing a more complex one is more difficult, there is no reason to start with one like this if you are just beginning, and also that one is more difficult to apply. As much as possible, the plan should not give options or let to do what one wants, because if its result depends on the player who uses it then one cannot judge how convenient it is. The easiest way to come up with such a plan is to choose the 1st thing that appears in the game: 1st character, 1st damaging attack, no money/items. Some things can be discarded, like only using attacks like Growl (they have to be used with something that does damage in order to win using them), or planning to use Antidotes on a Pokemon that can't be poisoned, but in general I don't like to make assumptions, because I usually make mistakes when doing them.
Step 2: Apply the plan. Considering the step 1, how far will it get in the game? can it beat Brock? pass the 1st cave? It can be assumed, but I want to do the experiments and conclude based on them. A certain maximum application duration should be set, because it could take too long with too little progress.
Step 3: Write down what was used and what result was obtained. This is done to determine how the next experiment should be, which I explain in the next step. Let's assume that with the plan we beat 6 trainers and then 2 wild Pokemon, nothing more. We can write this down: Trainers:wilds/inclusions. Defeated trainers, defeated wild Pokemons after the last trainer, and number of times we included "it" in an experiment, like this:
Bulbasaur: 6:2/1.
Tackle: 6:2/1.
Don'tUse$: 6:2/1.
Don'tUseItems: 6:2/1.
That is to say, "it" refers to the Pokemon, attack, rule, etc, regarding which we are writing things, for example: In the experiments in which Bulbasaur was included, 6 trainers were defeated and then 2 wild Pokemon; Bulbasaur was included in 1 experiment. The ":" is like when marking the time: The number to the left has more relevance. But here increasing the one on the right does not increase it. I do not put a comma instead of ":" because otherwise 6,9 would seem higher than 6,12 for example, but here it would not be like that and it would be confusing. The / is because the amount of inclusions decreases (divides) the score of the Pokemon or whatever is being scored. So far there don't seem to be any trouble, but prepare to them and you better make it double! It's fine to judge that for example Bulbasaur was included and got that result, but it's not the same to have been alone or accompanied, or to have used more than one possible move, and so on, so it would be silly to judge based only on the amount of times it was included, because it depends on how it was included. So we can also write this down:
Bulbasaur+Tackle+Don'tUse$+Don'tUseItems: 6:2/1.
Bulbasaur+Tackle+Don'tUse$: 6:2/1.
Bulbasaur+Tackle+Don'tUseItems: 6:2/1.
Bulbasaur+Don'tUse$+Don'tUseItems: 6:2/1.
Tackle+Don'tUse$+Don'tUseItems: 6:2/1.
Bulbasaur+Tackle: 6:2/1.
Bulbasaur+Don'tUse$: 6:2/1.
Bulbasaur+Don'tUseItems: 6:2/1.
Tackle+Don'tUse$: 6:2/1.
Tackle+Don'tUseItems: 6:2/1.
Don'tUse$+Don'tUseItems: 6:2/1.
But why not also this?
PGrass: 6:2/1.
PPoison: 6:2/1.
MNormal: 6:2/1 (P and M ahead is to distinguish Pokemon from movement).
And we should combine it with each other as well and with some things above (some combinations not because they are redundant). And we can add more things, like 1Pokemon, 2Types, 1Option, and more, so many that the list seems to get very long, I don't know what may be relevant and what is not, I don't want to assume too much. 1Pokemon is that only one Pokemon was included in the experiment, 2Types is that a Pokemon of 2 types was included, and 1Option is that one of the Pokemon included only had one option.
Step 4: Develop a plan that is structurally a little more complex. The above plan, structurally is like this: $ (Option1) and I summarize it further like this: (1). The $ represents how many types of items are purchased and with what criteria, in this case none is purchased. The parentheses represent the Pokemon: His choices go inside the parentheses. Let's say that this structure is of complexity 1 or of LV1, and it occurs to me that it can be complicated like this:
LV2a: (1>2). The a is simply a name to distinguish it from other structures of the same LV, they all have a "name" using an LV and the alphabet. It is: (Option1>Option2): The Pokemon has 2 options: Use 1 if it can, use 2 if not. The > here means that what is on the left is applied before the rest. If the 1st option can do long-term damage (Leech Seed, PSN, BRN, CNF and I don't know if there's another mode), then the 2nd option is allowed to be a non-damaging move, even an item (but shouldn't be bought).
LV2b: (1) > (2). The 2 pairs of parentheses represent 2 Pokemon, but keep in mind that, although the 2nd Pokemon says Option 2, it does not have to be different from 1: They can be or not, like X can be different from Y or not. The > here means the same thing as before, more specifically that the Pokemon on the left is always used first, until KO'd: It's "Pokemon1, then Pokemon2". If the 1st Pokemon can deal long-term damage, then the 2nd's option is allowed to be a non-damaging move, even an item (but don't buy it).
LV2c: (1, 1). It means that outside of battles it is allowed to use a certain item in the Pokemon: (Option1, Item1), but don't buy it.
That is to say, these are the minimum complications that occur to me, but there are more possible ones, only that they are more complex, they imply adding or modifying more things, I only added or modified one thing in each case, always starting from the LV1 structure. As an example I will give you a more complex structure (I still don't know the name and LV): $Item1 (Option1, Item1_HasPriority1ofItem1) ! (Option2, Item1_HasPriority2ofItem1). In short: 1 (1, 1_1) ! (2, 1_2). Item1 is bought and used outside of battles, preferably on Pokemon1 (it makes sense for example with vitamins). The ! It means that the order of the Pokemon is always the same but during battles it is allowed to send the other under certain conditions. This plan description language isn't perfect but it's pretty good, being pretty accurate, understandable (at least to me, but I don't see any weird in it) and compact. Well, one of those LV2 structures that I mentioned is chosen, preferably LV2a because it is the 1st, as explained in step 1.
Step 5: Choose the variables based on results of previous experiments. We must choose a Pokemon. Bulbasaur again? I think not because if he was one of the worst we would get bad or normal results again, until when? And besides, it's boring to do something so similar so soon. Ivysaur? Again I think not, because it is very similar, a better one is as different as possible, don't you think? You might prefer to choose the one that you think is most likely to give good results, or the one that you think is most likely to give the most useful information, or the most surprising result, or the one that makes you most curious or happy, or something else, I don't know. I repeat that I do not want to assume much, so that "the one that seems most likely to..." or this or that does not suit me much. It's fine for me for it to be as different as possible, which doesn't seem so subjective. But how to quickly find out which is the most different possible? At the moment I can only think of making a table in Excel, but I am not clear on the details. Suppose it was Alakazam: It's on the opposite level of evolution (2, Bulbasaur 0), it's a single type (Bulbasaur 2), it's not the same type as Bulbasaur, and it doesn't evolved the same way (trade, Bulbasaur would do by LV ). Now we do the same with Tackle: We choose whatever is most different from it, but still learnable by Alakazam and damaging. Let's assume it's Toxic: It's not a normal type like Tackle, it doesn't do damage right away like that, and it causes a very unusual status, while Tackle doesn't even cause a status. I discarded Mimic because to apply it we would have to specify in detail how, it is complicated, and Metronome depends on what other movements their user has, so I also discarded it because that would have to be detailed; these movements will be used in more complex structures. Now we have to choose an option as different as possible to Tackle and Toxic, and since Alakazam's option 1 is a long-term damage the new option can be a non-damaging move or item. The option we want is not necessarily the average of the previous ones, it would be like confusing the center of a side with the 3rd vertex of a triangle: The center of a side is the average of its furthest points, but the 3rd vertex of a triangle is further away than that. Well, let's say we choose Guard Spec: Doesn't change HP, doesn't change status (visibly at least), doesn't spend PP, and doesn't apply in to opponent.
Step 6: Repeat from step 2 until...?
Step 2 applied for the 2nd time: We apply the plan (we use cheats to have an Alakazam with Toxic, but remember that you should not use money, I say this more than anything for the GuardSpec) and suppose we get 8:3.
Step 3 applied for the 2nd time: I will not write down everything because as I said there are many things or I don't know which ones I should, I will consider a few:
Don'tUse$: 14:5/2.
Don'tUseItems: 6:2/1.
GuardSpec: 8/3/1.
Bulbasaur: 6:2/1.
Tackle: 6:2/1.
Alakazam: 8:3/1.
Toxic: 8:3/1.
Not using $ was included in 2 plans, that's why it have more points, but they should be divided by 2 because of that. The fact of having included it 2 times when buying a certain item is not included is a defect in the method. But I don't know how to avoid it while not complicating the structure too much: A single change produces repetition of things that weren't changed, the fact that only one Pokemon was used is also repeated, and the number of damaging moves included also exceeds, by far, to that of movements that recover HP for example. Also buying an item increases 2 LV because it adds the item to the beginning of the structure and also adds another one in the Pokemon part, it's like the 2LVc structure but with a number in front, that's why it's LV3.
Step 4 applied for the 2nd time: Should I choose a structure from LV2 that I haven't applied or one from LV3? I'll choose LV3, but trying to change things that haven't changed before.
Well, do you think this method would be hyper effective, super effective, average, ineffective or almost useless? how would you do? Remember the title question.
