American pageant chapter 16 notes 11th edition

what surface pro should I get?

2024.06.10 00:43 idkyeahlove what surface pro should I get?

So I‘ve been using the surface pro 5 for the last 5 years and decided to upgrade now because it started giving me performance problems and even completely crashed once yesterday, in the next weeks i will have uni exams digitally and if it decides to crash on me during an exam i can basically go back to working in construction
I saw that they‘ve just recently released the new pro 11 or 11th gen however they wanna name it, as it seems its quite an upgrade compared to the pro 10, though is it actually worth it? I mainly use my surface for taking notes/writing summaries, writing papers and so on nothing load heavy like video editing or something like that, is this new chip for AI actually such a huge thing as microsoft makes it out to be? how usable is this whole microsoft AI thing even in the context of a business administration student?
Should I get the pro 10 or actually wait until the 18.6 (release date in my country), which is one day after my first digital exam and go for the gamble xd

2024.06.10 00:29 Horimiyaforlife My dad’s hell bent on me going to Columbia but I don’t think I can make it (basically tell me my chances and give me advice on what I can improve in so little time and how to go about the whole dad thing)

Upcoming senior here (15F) - I’m kinda lost. My dad’s an immigrant, and he’s been hyperfixated on me going to Columbia. Do I WANT to go? Absolutely, but I really don’t think I have a shot. My stats aren’t so impressive (I’ll include them at the end), and he blows up on me (like in a scary way) when I try to bring up that I probably won’t get in. I’m kinda stuck. I hate disappointing him, and I know all he wants is my success, but I’m really not optimistic about this. Any ideas of schools I’ll actually have a shot at? And yeah idk that’s it I’ll list my stats now 😭
Demographics gender: female Race/ecthnicity: African American, White Residence: in NY State Income Bracket: not disclosing, money isn’t a problem my parents said they’d cover it all Type of school: private school Hooks (recruited athlete, URM, First-Gen, Geographic, Legacy, etc): None (just found out what URM is so idk if being half Nigerian counts or what)
Intended Majors(s): Biology
Academics: GPA (UW/W): not sure, school doesn’t disclose but based on my year cumulatives I can assume 3.8 or 3.9 Unweighted- my school doesn’t weigh our GPAs. Rank: school doesn’t rank

of Honors/ AP/IB/ Dual Enrollment/Etc: Apush, AP Physics, AP Gov, AP Lit (important note- my school limits APs students can take: 9th=0, 10th=1, 11th=2, 12=3. Aside from that, you can only do the 10th grade AP if you’re recommended, and they’ll reject you from taking other APs if they think you won’t have time-they don’t consult you on that though- it was a huge scandal when a girl threw a fit about being denied both APs because they didn’t want her to take both- happened to me as well but I saw what happened to her and just stayed silent.)

Standardized testing Aiming for 1500+ in a few months
Activities/ E.C.s: 1. school choir, promoted to head later on (perform at school events as well as the school production) 2. Four years on school STEM team 3. 3rd place in Engineering for Mobility category in national STEM project competition where thousands compete their hundreds of projects to win in one of the categories (built a prosthetic leg for toddlers w my group- coded it, built it, made a website and presentation for it) 4. 2 summers of work experience in SYEP program 5. 80+hours of community service, should be 100+ by the end of next school year 6. 3 years of playing guitar (self taught) 7. Photography for school paper 8. 40+hours of tutoring middle school, elementary, and high school students 9. School robotics team 10. 3 weeks volunteer program on west coast 11. 5 weeks volunteer program in Middle East 12. Idk if this counts but the reason for my mid e.c.s and stuff is bc my mom became permanently disabled as a result of the COVID 19 vaccine. I only get back from school after six (later when I have e.c.s) and I spend a hell lot of that time showering my little brothers (they’re very young) , helping them with homework, feeding them dinner, getting them in pajamas, and putting them to bed.
Essay: wrote it about my guitar, and how it led me to discover my passion of helping people and deciding to pursue medicine so that I can keep doing that as a career (it might sound pretentious but it legit happened so I wrote about it)
Help and lmk if I missed smth 🙏

2024.06.09 23:22 Informal_Patience821 I Just Noticed Rashad Khalifa totally fulfilled a prophecy!! Why has nobody noticed this?! 😖 - I'm in full blown shock right now! (Part 2)

Verse 29 - The purpose of sending this chosen messenger:

God says:
"That he may make evident that they indeed have conveyed the Messages of their Lord. He has encompassed what is with them and He enumerated all things in number.” (The Quran 72:29)
The verse uses the past tense verb "أَحَاطَ" (aḥāṭa) which means "encompassed" or "surrounded." The verb "لَدَيْهِمْ" (ladayhim) involves possession and is not bound by tense in the same way verbs are. So an accurate interpretation would be that God has encompassed what is with them, meaning what is with this chosen messenger and his time (i.e. the Quran), or that God has encompassed (past tense) what was with them (past tense), meaning the prophet and his companions. It can refer to a present or ongoing state resulting from a past action but the "he may make clear" refers to a future event, which indeed makes this a prophecy. Either way, Rashad fully fulfilled it all. This is exactly what transpired. The verse continues:
"And He enumerated all things in number."
The preservation and guarding of the Quran was done by way of numerical patterns/codes embedded within the Quran, God enumerated everything in numbers.

Answering the weak claims of liars, doubters and rejecters:

I will quickly go over a couple claims that I found online and refute them. I will only answer claims I personally think are response worthy. The rest are not even worth the time.

Claim: "Rashad's overall message was unlike that of other prophets/messengers":

This is totally false, because he eradicated prevalent Shirk, the same Shirk that still to this day continues to "flourish" amongst traditionalists.
God says in the Quran, interestingly in the same chapter that we discussed above (i.e. Chapter 72, The Jinn):
"And the mosques are for God, so do not call upon anyone with God." (The Quran 72:18)
The traditionalists are all invoking the prophet, in the same manner they are invoking God. They are all (and I mean literally all of them) saying during their 5 daily prayers:
'as-salaamu 'alaika ayyuha n-nabiyyu' (Peace be on you, O Prophet!)
This is literally an invocation directed to an entity other than God, namely prophet Muhammad. Rashad came and eradicated this Shirk from the Muslim community, but traditionalists remain in their worship of the prophet and refuse to be reminded and reformed.
The real question should be; why would an imposter (who hypothetically was inspired by Satan) want to eradicate prevalent Shirk from the Muslim Ummah?

Claim: "All messengers were prophets, therefor there's a seal on messengership as well!"

And when we ask them: why? They indirectly answer: "Because we say so!" and expect us to just take their words for it.
There's literally nothing behind this erroneous analogy of theirs that supports it. They are literally just claiming that God is bound by a rule. They are literally just inventing and fabricating rules they expect God to submit to.
God says:
“but he is the Messenger of God and the seal (i.e. end) of the Prophets” (The Quran 33:40)
They quote this verse and use it as some sort of evidence while this very verse is the exact opposite, it is against them, but they are rendered incapable of perceiving it.
Messengers are not prophets by default, they are just messengers, whereas prophets are individuals who receive prophecies from God that they convey to people, which makes them messengers as well. This is the linguistic definition of these words. It's baffling how this understanding has been reversed by traditionalists, with the claim that messengers are both prophets and messengers, while prophets are merely prophets. This claim is totally baseless and makes no sense at all.
God has not defined these words in the Quran in any specific way because the Quran is not a dictionary or lexicon; the definitions of the words are something we should naturally understand. Just as we naturally should know where Mecca is located or where the former Qibla was located. Both messengers and prophets are sent by God with a revelation (Scriptures or not) and with Clear Signs, whilst calling for submission and the worship of God alone. Prophets, in addition to all of that, also receive prophecies, foretelling the future, which is why they are called 'prophets.'
Rashad was a messenger of God, not a prophet. He didn't receive a new prophecy because the knowledge of the timing of the Hour was already present with us embedded within the Quran. He was only guided by Gabriel and shown how to uncover it. Prophet Muhammad is the one who received this prophecy originally, but it was obscured from everyone (including prophet Muhammad), hence why he was directed to say:
"Say, 'I do not know whether that which you are promised is near, or if my Lord has appointed for it a distant term. [God is] the Knower of the Unseen, and He reveals unto none His unseen, except who He has chosen of a messenger..." (The Quran 72:25-27)
God states:
"And We did not send before you except men to whom We revealed. So ask the people of the scripture if you do not know, with the clear proofs and the Scriptures. And We sent down to you the Reminder so that it may make clear to the people what has been sent down to them, and perhaps they may reflect." (The Quran 16:42-43)
Everyone that was sent by God had some sort of revelation, whether it was by way of Scriptures and Clear Signs. There's no specific thing distinguishing the two (except for the linguistic distinction I mentioned here above).
It is only their fallacious analogy, that's all. It is based on a passage from the Quran saying; prophets ruled according to Moses Law, the Torah, therefor, a messenger is someone who brings a new Law. Did they forget that Jesus was a messenger and a prophet and he didn't abrogate the Torah?:
"[The Day] when God will say, 'O Jesus, Son of Mary, remember My favor upon you and upon your mother when I supported you with the Pure Spirit and you spoke to the people in the cradle and in maturity; and when I taught you writing and wisdom and the Torah and the Gospel." (The Quran 5:110)
Do you see how fallacious their reasoning actually is? Disregard their weak arguments; it is all weak in my eyes and should be equally so in yours too. God says:
"And We do not send the messengers except as bringers of good tidings and warners. So whoever believes and REFORMS - there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve." (6:48)
Messengers are bringers of good tidings and they serve as warners, and their purpose is to make us believe and to reform us (by the Will and Grace of God). Messengers are also described with revelations of the Book and the Balance (which literally has to do with "Laws"):
"We sent aforetime our messengers with clear signs and sent down with them the Book and the Balance, that people may stand forth in justice; and We sent down Iron, in which is strong material, as well as many benefits for mankind, that God may test who it is that will help, unseen, Him and His messengers: For God is full of strength, exalted in might." (The Quran 57:25)
Prophets are also specifically described as being sent with Scriptures so they can "judge between people":
"Mankind was [of] one religion [i.e. before their deviation]; then God sent the prophets as bringers of good tidings and warners and sent down with them the Scripture in truth to judge between the people concerning that in which they differed." (The Quran 2:213)
Both are described as being sent with revelations containing Laws.

The Sunni definition of "prophet" is derived from the founders of Sunnism, the ancient rabbis:

From a Sunni/Salafi Fatwa:
"The well-known difference between a Prophet and a Messenger is that a Messenger is one to whom a law is revealed and he is commanded to convey it, whilst a Prophet is one to whom a law is revealed but he is not commanded to convey it. But this distinction is not free of problems, because a Prophet is also commanded to call people, convey the Message and judge among the people."
Source
That it is possible for a prophet to receive revelations from God and suppress them and not convey them to the people, is nothing but a copy/paste from ancient rabbinic literature. The Sunnis got this from the rabbis of old (Maimonides, to be exact):
"But with regard to one who suppresses his prophecy because he does not want to share it with the public, and one who contemptuously forgoes the statement of a prophet and refuses to heed it, and a prophet who violated his own statement and failed to perform that which he was commanded to do, his death is at the hand of Heaven, as it is stated: “And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall not hearken unto My words that he shall speak in My name, I will exact it of him” (Deuteronomy 18:19)."
Source: Sanhedrin 89a - 8.
Two points to consider:
  1. Why would God reveal something to someone and not command him to convey it to the people? Why are they attributing this sheer stupidity to God?
  2. To claim that God would reveal something to someone with the purpose of conveying it to others while simultaneously allowing him the free will to choose whether he wants to convey it or not, and if we hypothetically say that this is the case, then if a prophet were to actually not convey the revelation, then this would imply that God doesn't know the future or that He randomly sends Revelations to people and hopes they will convey it to others. Either way, this is a stupidity God is far above.
To refute both of these points, we have to look no further than the Quran itself:
God says:
"O Messenger, convey that which has been revealed to you from your Lord, for if you do not, then you have not conveyed His message. And God will protect you from the people. Indeed, God does not guide the disbelieving people." (The Quran 5:67)
And,
"Indeed, those who conceal what We sent down of clear proofs and guidance after We made it clear for the people in the Scripture - those are cursed by God and cursed by those who curse." (The Quran 2:159)
Hiding what God sends down is only done by cursed individuals, to claim that God would send revelations to cursed people stems from nothing other than ancient Rabbinism*.
\Rabbinism: Rabbinic Judaism has been the mainstream form of Judaism since the 6th century CE, after the codification of the Babylonian Talmud, and also "coincidentally" after the advent of the Quran.)
The phrase: "for if you do not, then you have not conveyed His message" - implies that the purpose of the revelation is to convey it to others. It implies that it is expected of him.

The two deleted verses:

It is interesting to note that there's only 2 extra verses, because matching the mastery of the Quran with more than 2 verses is impossible. It's impossible to mimic the Quran with more than 2 verses without making mumbo jumbo phrases and sentences that make no sense. The shortest chapter in the Quran is made up of 3 verses, nobody has ever brought 3 verses that match the Quran.
If you think it is to deny the Quran if one were to believe that 9:128-129 are added verses, not belonging to it, then you would also believe that 'Ali disbelieved, according to historical accounts. This is recorded in the history books of Sunni scholars themselves.
We find in Kitab al-Masahif by Ibn Abu Dawud, where he suggests that Umar ibn Al-Khattab considered adding verses 128 and 129 to a separate Surah if they had been three verses instead of two, indicating some recognition of their contentious nature during the compilation of the Quran. It is also mentioned that Zaid bin Thabit found these two verses with only one scribe, namely with Khuzaima ibn Thabit. A whooping 65 scribes to the disposal of prophet Muhammad, and only one had these two verses written down. They still included them, which was unusual given the strict criteria for including verses based on multiple witnesses (Source: Ibn Abu Dawud, Kitab al-Masahif; Al-Suyuti, Al-Itqan fi Ulum al-Quran).
In As-Suyuti's Al-Itqan fi Ulum al-Quran, we read that Ali ibn Abi Talib expressed concerns about additions to the Quran. According to a narration by Muhammad ibn Sirin from Ikrima, Ali refrained from pledging allegiance to Abu Bakr because he believed that something had been added to the Book of God, indicating his suspicion regarding the integrity of certain verses (Source: Al-Suyuti, Al-Itqan fi Ulum al-Quran).
Do you also consider 'Ali to have apostatized? If not, then why would we be? Especially considering the fact that we now even have substantial evidence that two additional verses were added and that precisely these two verses, the verses that always have been shrouded in doubt, that they ruin the 19 code. But when omitted, the code remains in tact.

The verse saying "No falsehood approaches it":

The traditional translation of this verse is:
"Falsehood does not approach it from before or behind; it is a Revelation from the Wise, the Praiseworthy." (The Quran 41:42)
This above is a deviation from the Arabic grammar of the words and the Arabic idiom being used. Let's go through each word, but before doing that, we need to read a few verses before this verse so we get some context:
40: "Indeed, those who are deviating concerning our Âyât (Signs/Verses) are not concealed from Us. Is he who is cast into the Fire better off, or is it the one who safely comes forth on the Day of Resurrection? Go ahead and do whatever you wish. Indeed, He is Seeing of whatever you do."
41: "[these are] indeed those who disbelieved in the Reminder after it came to them. And indeed, it is surely a Mighty Book."
42: "Falsehood does not come to it, neither from its past nor from its future. It is a Revelation from One who is Wise, Praiseworthy."
The phrase: "بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ" (From its past): Literally: "Between his hands" - As I have already explained earlier in this post, this is an idiom which all traditional translators seem to be totally ignorant about. It simply means "his past" or "before him (i.e. his time)."
The phrase: "وَلَا مِنْ خَلْفِهِۦ" (nor from its future): Literally: "And not from after him/it" - The word "Khalfihi" can mean "Behind it" and it can mean "After it." Because the idiom "Bayni yadayhi" precedes it and means "Its past," and has to do with time, therefor "Khalfihi" likewise is about time and should be translated as "its future." The word "Khalaf" is the opposite of the word "Salaf," which is generally taken to mean "predecessors" while "Khalaf" is the opposite, "successors." It is about the past and the successive future.
God is ensuring us that the Quran is immune to falsehood and cannot be corrupted, even if attempts are made to alter it with lies and fabrications. How can this be best demonstrated and proven true? Through a numerical code that preserves every aspect of the text. If a single letter is added or removed, the code fails. This is exactly what Rashad Khalifa discovered during his lifetime. In other words, even if intentional attempts are made to distort the Quran, they will fail because there is a safeguard in place. This verse does not state that people cannot attempt to distort the Quran; anyone can distort its contents (even you or I can do it right now at this current moment). Rather, it means that falsehood cannot successfully infiltrate it at any time and be forever being considered to be the original Quran, thereby ensuring its preservation.
To claim that this verse is implying that nobody ever will be able to distort the Quran and remove or add from it, then you would also essentially be saying that Rashad Khalifa disproved the truthfulness of the Quran because he did just that, he removed two verses from it and millions of Muslims are reading his Quran and fully believe the Quran was distorted while it wasn't (hypothetically).
Another interpretation of this verse (that is fully valid and plausible) is that God is talking about the time during which it is being revealed and written down by scribes. Because the verse ends saying "...It is a Revelation from One who is Wise, Praiseworthy." In other words;
"Falsehood does not come to it neither in its past nor its future, (because) it is a Revelation from a Wise One..."
I.e. It is not falsehood that is being revealed, neither in its past nor will there be any revealed in its future, because it is all from God. The last phrase is what makes this the most likely accurate interpretation.

Weird Sunni translation of this verse exposes their ignorance and thus also their mistranslation of 72:28:

This very verse uses the exact same idiom that 72:28 contains. The "Between his hands" one. This is how traditionalists translate it in this verse (i.e. 41:42):
It cannot be proven false from any angle...
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, The Clear Quran
Falsehood cannot approach it from before it or from behind it...
— Saheeh International
that cannot be approached by falsehood, neither from its front, nor from its behind...
— T. Usmani
which falsehood cannot touch from any angle...
— M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
Falsehood may not enter it from the front or from the rear...
— A. Maududi (Tafhim commentary)
Falsehood cannot come at it from before it or from behind it...
— M. Pickthall
No falsehood can approach it from before or behind it...
— A. Yusuf Ali
Falsehood cannot come to it from before it or behind it...
— Al-Hilali & Khan
The rendering: "From any angle" is a complete mistranslation because that is not what the Arabic verse says.
The rendering: "its front nor from behind it" - What does this even mean? Does the Quran have front doors and back doors? It is not even an idiom in Arabic, let alone English. These translators just assumed that this is an idiom in both Arabic and English, while the literal translation makes very little sense in both Arabic and English. How would someone come to the Quran with falsehood behind it?
Does it mean "from the frontside" of its cover? And the "backside" of its cover as well? The Quran was not even in book form at that particular time when this verse was revealed, so how is that explained? The fact of the matter is that they have failed to understand this idiom, which is why they also mistranslated the verse where Rashad Khalifa is prophesied:
"Except who He has chosen of a messenger, for indeed he will follow a path from before him (i.e. before his time), and after him will be a (guarding) monitoring."
The same idiom is used in this verse. I see this as a significant sign from our Lord. It seems He used this idiom in these two verses specifically for this very reason, to show that they are ignorant of the Quran's language, its idioms, and that they completely disregard its grammar and structure of the verses and etc. This is why they end up with these awkward phrases like, "Falsehood may not enter it from the front or from the rear," and "Falsehood cannot come at it from before it or from behind it," among others, which we won't delve into any further. Not only is the English grammar appalling, but these statements are also meaningless in English. They pay no attention to this and have likely confused people by the masses.

The only person to claim messengership that has been assassinated is Rashad Khalifa:

It is very notable that, out of all people who ever have claimed messengership (or prophethood), Rashad is the only one who was assassinated. This also speaks volumes. Sure, Sunni Hadiths speak about a few who claimed prophethood and were consequently executed, but we all know how truthful and accurate Sunni Hadiths are.
This is just an interesting tidbit, it speaks volumes to me personally.

Conclusion:

Wasn't everything in Chapter 72 exactly what Rashad Khalifa experienced and accomplished? It undoubtedly was, and it is impossible to deny. Knowing this, a rejector will certainly be called to account and questioned on Judgement Day as to why he rejected and denied something God made confirmable and undeniable.
God has made it evident that the Hadiths are nothing but fabrications and He has made it evident that they even tempered with the Quran. If you keep on believing that the Quran Sunnis uphold is fully from God, you are literally dooming yourself and transgressing against God because He has revealed means for us that enables us to confirm Rashad's claims. You are part of the problem. What is the difference between you and a Kâfir (disbeliever) of the past such as those who opposed prophet Muhammad? Nothing at all. So fear God and submit to Him fully.
I urge you, O Muslims, to fear God! O people, fear God, because denying a messenger of God renders you an apostate or a Kâfir (a rejector who covers the truth after knowing it). You have no right to deny Rashad Khalifa. God did not send a messenger and allowed you to keep living your life doubting him or totally disregarding him. Imagine if the early Muslims behaved like that? Do you think God would have been pleased with them? All the excuses I have found online are very weak and based on flawed analogies and fallacious reasonings, such as "God said that every messenger was sent to people who spoke his mother tongue, therefore, Rashad must be a fake messenger." And these people actually believe this will be a plausible excuse on the Day of Judgement🤦‍♂️.
Fear God, O believers, and submit to Him fully! You have been shown the truth, and it is now upon you to testify it. How you do that is your decision to make.
Another major excuse people use is that Rashad supposedly claimed that his Quran translation was divinely inspired/guided, and this is nothing but a lie. Nowhere has he claimed this (as far as I know). There are interviews on YouTube where you can clearly hear him saying that he made a personal promise to God in a supplication that he would not move past a word (while translating) until he fully understood its definition. This does not mean "My translation was guided/inspired by God Himself."
Remember this Statement God made concerning those who are rendered incapable of seeing His Signs:
"I will turn away from My Âyât [i.e. Signs/Verses] those who are arrogant in the earth without right. And if they see every Sign, they will not believe in it, and if they see the path of right guidance, they will not adopt it as a path, and if they see the path of misguidance, they will adopt it as a path. That is because they denied Our Âyât (Signs/Verses) and were heedless of them." (The Quran 7:146)
With this, I end this article, and may God open your hearts to Truth and guide us all and keep us steadfast upon His Straight Path until we die, âmîn.
/ By your brother, Exion.

2024.06.09 23:21 Informal_Patience821 I Just Noticed Rashad Khalifa totally fulfilled a prophecy!! Why has nobody noticed this?! 😖 - I'm in full blown shock right now! (Part 1)

In the Name of God, the Most Merciful, the Most Gracious.
Peace be with you!
Before I begin this article, I want to make an open declaration:
I testify that Rashad Khalifa was a messenger of God, the messenger of the Covenant whom God sent to the world in order to show us that the Quran was fully conveyed, fully preserved and fully enumerated in numbers and codes that still serve as a guard against corruption.

Introduction:

There's always been a lingering question in my mind about the Egyptian researcher whose name was Rashad Khalifa (God bless his soul). I never fully rejected him because of the Miracle 19 code he unveiled to the world. I always wondered, "Why would God allow an imposter to discover such an amazing miracle?" However, I always postponed doing thorough research about him and his claims, until a few days ago. Someone posted a thread here about him which prompted me to finally sit down and conduct deep research. This investigation revealed undeniable evidence that he indeed was a true messenger of God. I am literally still perplexed while writing this post. It doesn't make sense to me how the entire Ummah is so blind, as these things I have discovered are literally right there in the Quran, stated in very clear words. I know that Rashad did point out a verse which implied that it would be revealed, but I don't think it was as explicit as what I just noticed has been mistranslated and/or widely misunderstood.
This article will not deal with hidden messages or codes, in case you don't believe in those. Instead, I will discuss clear prophecies from the Quran that have been undeniably fulfilled by the messenger of God, Rashad Khalifa.
I will talk about Chapter 72 "The Jinn." This chapter is perhaps one of the most researched in the Submitters community, primarily because it contains hidden prophecies and because Rashad Khalifa's name is embedded in it mathematically and numerically. However, due to our deep engagement with the numerical aspects, we have somewhat neglected the actual context of what is being said. One of the main reasons why I previously have been reluctant when it comes to Rashad is because he claimed to have been told by Gabriel about the specific timing of the Hour. Now, after having conducted research where I discovered that the Quran literally is saying that a future messenger will reveal its "Ghayb" (Unseen), and verses saying that God would reveal its timing in the future to this future messenger, it has become very clear that Rashad could not have been an imposter.
Without further ado, let's begin this post.

The prophecy of revealing the timing of the Hour: "None reveals its due time except Him":

God states in the Quran:
Translation:
"They ask you about the Hour, 'When will it be?' Say, 'Its knowledge is only with my Lord. None reveals its due time except Him. It became heavy upon the heavens and the earth. It will not come upon you except suddenly.' They ask you as if you are well-informed about it. Say, 'Its knowledge is only with God, but most of the people do not know.'" (The Quran 7:187)
The phrase: "يُجَلِّيهَا" (yujallihâ) is a verb in Arabic that means "he/she reveals it" or "he/she uncovers it." With "لَا" (Lâ) before it, it becomes a negated verb in the present tense and should be rendered as; "No one reveals it" The "it" here is the knowledge of "when," hence; "When will it be?' Say, 'Its knowledge is..."
The phrase: لِوَقْتِهَا (Liwaqtiha): It is a prepositional phrase in Arabic that translates to "at its time", "its due time" or "Its proper time" in English. The negating phrase that precedes it makes it: "No one reveals its due time..." The revelation of its timing is emphasized, and not the actual event itself. This is very important to understand.
The phrase: إِلَّا هُوَ (illa hu), this is an exception clause that signifies exclusivity, meaning "except Him."
In other words, only God is the One who reveals its due time, which directly also means that God will reveal its due time at some point in the future. If this is not the case, then why was the prophet directed to say that nobody reveals its due time except God? It's not a sentence that negates the revelation of its timing, but rather a sentence that specifies who the Revealer will be, by negating everyone else other than God.
But then the verse continues and states something very interesting:
ثَقُلَتْ فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ
Which translates to:
"It became heavy upon the heavens and the earth"
This implies that it (i.e. its knowledge) already was with them at that time because it "became/was heavy," which is a past tense statement in Arabic. During that particular time, only God knew (i.e. during the revelation of this verse), but its knowledge was within the Quran, embedded in it. Because what is it that became so heavy upon the heavens and the earth if not the knowledge of its timing? The topic of discussion is the knowledge of "when." It doesn't seem to be the event itself as it is speaking in past tense terms.
Quick re-analysis of the entire verse:
Phrase: يَسْـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلسَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرْسَىٰهَا: They ask you about the Hour, "When will it be?"
Phrase: قُلْ إِنَّمَا عِلْمُهَا عِندَ رَبِّى: Say, "Its knowledge is with my Lord."
Phrase: لَا يُجَلِّيهَا لِوَقْتِهَآ إِلَّا هُوَ: None reveals its due time except Him.
Phrase: ثَقُلَتْ فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ: It became heavy (or "weighed heavy") upon the heavens and the earth.
Phrase: لَا تَأْتِيكُمْ إِلَّا بَغْتَةًۭ: It will not come to you except suddenly.
Phrase: يَسْـَٔلُونَكَ كَأَنَّكَ حَفِىٌّ عَنْهَا: They ask you as if you are well informed about it.
Phrase: قُلْ إِنَّمَا عِلْمُهَا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ: Say, "Its knowledge is with God."
Phrase: وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ: But most people do not know.
This is the only instance that seems to emphasize the actual event itself and not the knowledge of its timing:
"It will not come to you except suddenly"
So I don't really understand how some people see this verse as a rebuttal against Rashad's claim.
In another verse, God states:
ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنزَلَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَٱلْمِيزَانَ ۗ وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ قَرِيبٌۭ
Which translates to:
"It is God Who sent down the Book with the Truth and the Balance and whatever makes you know that the Hour might be near." (The Quran 42:17)
The phrase: يُدْرِي (yudrī): "he/it makes know" (third person singular masculine).
The suffix: كَ (ka): "you" (second person singular masculine).
Sunnis interpret it as "and what will make you realize that the Hour might be near?" i.e. as a question. But the focus is on the continuous action of God 'sending down' various things, including the thing that informs us that the Hour is near. Also, the word "يُدْرِيكَ" (yudrīka) is present tense, their English translations say; "what will make you know," which is future tense. They've been unfaithful in their translations just so they could cover up the prophecy.
The traditionalists have disregarded the grammar completely just to hide the fact that this verse says what it says. The knowledge of the timing of the Hour was always present within the Quran. The reason why He said "might be" is because it was obscured and there was a messenger to come that would be given instructions on how to uncover it. Had He not said "might" then He would have disclosed that it actually is near.
Traditionalists interpret it the following ways:
"And what will make you perceive? Perhaps the Hour is near."
"How can you tell? The Last Hour may well be near:"
"And what will make thee realise that perhaps the Hour is close at hand?"
All of their translations totally deviate grammatically. Also, removing the "," and "?" gives it a consistent flow. The entire sentence is a statement and all of it is connected to "it is Who sent down...":
God has sent down:
Crystal clear!

Chapter 72 - The chosen messenger with the knowledge of the the timing of the Hour:

This is where I became fully convinced about Rashad. While I was translating this chapter, I did so genuinely and have spent days looking through dictionaries and Arabic grammar rules and etc. There is no denying this man anymore.
Let's start with the 23rd verse.

Verse 72:23:

"(Mine is) but a conveyance from God and His messages; and whoso disobeys God and His messenger, then for him is the fire of hell, wherein he will abide forever."
The verse depicts Prophet Muhammad being directed by God to say this sentence, emphasizing that his task was solely a conveyance from God and His messages, which we all know to be the Quran. We are reminded that Prophet Muhammad's task not to interpret it (as the traditionalists claim). This is also what God explicitly says in 75:18-19. The chapter continues and reveals a crystal clear prophecy:
  • 24: "Until when they see what they are promised, then they will know who is a weaker supporter and fewer in numbers."
  • 25: "Say, 'I do not know whether that which you are promised is near, or my Lord has appointed for it a distant term.'
  • 26: "[God is] the Knower of the Unseen, and He reveals unto none His unseen,"
- 27: "Except who He has chosen of a messenger, for indeed he will follow a path from before him (i.e. before his time), and after him will be a (guarding) monitoring."

Breakdown:

The phrase: "Until when they see what they are promised": Meaning the Hour. God says:
"Verily that which ye are promised is true; And lo! The Judgment will indeed befall." (51:5-6)
Many have totally missed this and I am a bit confused about how all of us could have missed it. I've googled a bit and haven't found anyone address this specific verse. When God says, "That which you are promised" in the Quran, it is usually the Hour that is being referred to.
The word "ٱرْتَضَىٰ" is in past tense and translates to; "He Has chosen," which implies that it is not a general statement about what God does in regards to messengers in general, but rather something God indeed intends to do in the future with a specific messenger that already is chosen. It is talking about a future scenario because of the latter part of the verse where a word that is in a "non-past" tense is used, unabeling us to interpret it as something that already has occurred.
The word "يَسْلُكُ" (yasluku) comes from the root س-ل-ك (s-l-k), which generally means to follow a path, to enter upon a way, or to make a way through something:
Word: سَلَكَ (salaka) I, non-past يَسْلُكُ‎ (yasluku)
to follow a road, to wend, to travel along
to enter upon a course
to behave, to comport oneself
to proceed, to act
to set foot, to enter
Source: wiktionary.org
The يَـ (ya-): This prefix indicates third person singular masculine in the present-future tense and could be "He" or "It."
And سْلُكُ (sluku): The verb stem from the root س-ل-ك (s-l-k) meaning "follow a path"
This word is rendered as; "he will follow a path/way," as it is a "non-past" word. In Arabic grammar, the term "non-past" refers to the verb forms that are used to indicate both present and future actions. Unlike in English, where we distinctly separate present and future tenses, Arabic uses a single form that can convey either present or future tense depending on the context or additional particles that specify the time frame. Now here's the tricky part; "Yasluku" is a non-past tense word, which means that it could be both present and future tense, there's nothing that specifies the tense for us in the preceding words except for the past tense phrase "He has chosen," but because nobody but God knew of the "Ghayb" of the Hour at the time of the revelation of this verse, "Yasluku" (He will follow) must be understood as a future tense word, and can't be present tense, because this messenger was not yet there. We are forced to decide its tense based on the context of these verses and what they are saying.
The verse that follows it includes elements of past actions ("they have conveyed," "He has encompassed," "He has counted"), but the purpose clause "so that he may make evident" (لِّيَعْلَمَ) indicates a future revelation to prove these past actions. This suggests a future-oriented purpose or consequence, where the revelation/clarification is yet to occur.
Therefore, the verse is referring to a future incident or happening in the sense that it is pointing towards a future clarification regarding past actions, which also proves that the verse before it also should be future tense. This is something that traditionalists totally have disregarded.
Take a look at how Sunnis translate "يَسْلُكُ":
(72:27:7) yasluku = makes to march
But in other instances:
(16:69:6) fa-us'lukī = and follow (71:20:1) litaslukū = That you may go along (72:17:8) yasluk'hu = He will make him enter
Why this discrepancy? Why have they chosen, not the primary, not the secondary, but rather some quinary definition of this word here for this specific verse to say "March"? Because translating it faithfully exposes them and it would contradict their fabricated Hadiths.
Accurate Translation and Breakdown:

مِنۢ (min):

بَيْنِ (bayni):

The phrase: "between his hands": Idiomatically meaning, "before him" i.e. a time before him.
Same idiom is used here:
"...confirming that which was before him (lit: "between his hands") in the Torah." (The Quran 5:46)
The last part of the verse (i.e. 72:28):
"...and after him will be a (guarding) observation/monitoring."
The future tense "Will be" is added here because of what I've explained earlier.
The phrase; "رَصَدًۭا" (Raṣadan) literally means "an observation/monitoring." They have done the same unfaithful misinterpretation and mistranslation here too. This is how they have rendered it:
"and behind him observers"
"angel-guards before and behind them"
"watchers to go in front and behind"
"guards who go before him and behind him"
"and a guard behind him"
"march before him and behind him,"
"watching guards (angels) to march before him and behind him."
This word comes from the root "ر-ص-د" (R-S-D), which carries the meaning of observing, monitoring or lying in wait. Edward William Lane (d. 1876) wrote in his Arabic-English lexicon (where he defines "رصد") that it implies (or could imply); "for the purpose of guarding," but it does not literally translate to "guards" in English. This word (i.e. Rasadan) can be translated as "a monitoring," "an observation," or "lying in wait," and one could add "guarding" in brackets for deeper clarification of its definition. The 9th verse of this chapter also uses this same word:
"And we used to sit on places therein to listen. But he who listens now finds a flame in wait for him;" (72:9)
But means "in wait" here because "...finds a flame in observation/monitoring for him." makes no sense.
The traditionalists render it as, "a guard(s)," and the only place they have rendered it like this is this very verse:
(72:27:13) raṣadan = a guard
While in other verses, they've rendered it (I would say somewhat) accurately:
(72:9:13) raṣadan= waiting
(78:21:4) mir'ṣādan = lying in wait
(89:14:3) labil-mir'ṣādi = (is) surely Ever Watchful
(9:5:14) marṣadin = place of ambush
(9:107:9) wa-ir'ṣādan = and (as) a station

It is quite revealing that they have mistranslated this word in this particular instance where God is conveying this prophecy.
The word "Rasadan" (رَصَدًا) in Arabic, when used in the Quran, typically refers to something set up or placed as a means of observing, guarding, or waiting. It can be associated with concepts like watchfulness, surveillance, or a place where someone lies in wait:
  1. Description of a place: "Rasadan" can refer to a place where one waits or watches.
  2. Description of an object: It can also describe an object used for observing or watching.
  3. Description of an event: It might describe the act of waiting, observing, or watching for something to occur.
It could also describe a general description of a time. It is not used to describe people. Simply put, it describes a place, object, or event related to observation, surveillance, or waiting, and is not used to describe people. Why traditionalists have chosen to interpret it as "guards," "angels," or other entities is very puzzling, especially given that there is no inherent singular or plural form, nor anything that implies it refers to entities. It is a noun, not a verb, so it does not have tense or person as verbs do, and it is not conjugated for tense or person. I genuinely wish a Sunni could respond to this post and elaborate on why all of their Quran translations have rendered this word in such an unfaithful way.
The verse continues; "Wa min Khalfihi" (and after him), which they have rendered as "and before him." While this is possible and is not technically a mistranslation, the word that follows is "Rasadan" and is not in plural or singular and literally just means "an observation/monitoring." You can triple check every Arabic dictionary in the world to confirm that I am not just making stuff up here.
Their misinterpretation is achieved by deviating from the accurate grammar behind each word. To be able to make an erroneous interpretation such as theirs, they've ignored the specific numbers of words, their persons, their tenses and much more:

What is this "a (guarding) monitoring"?

The guarding monitoring that would be after him, I interpret to be the miracle code of the Quran that Rashad discovered, the Miracle 19 and other mathematical codes that have been found within the Quran. These miracles not only act as a safeguard against corruption and tampering but we are in a time where we are literally able to monitor the entire Book through monitors and use Miracle 19 to confirm that the entire Quran is with us, which is interesting to note. The literal text states that an observation/monitoring will be after him. We are indeed the first witnesses of this fulfilled prophecy and we are living in the time where the monitoring is being done.
Understanding all of this obliges us to accept Rashad's claim of messengership and never doubt him again.
The last verse of this chapter is the most intriguing and most telling one,

but this post is too long and doesn't allow more characters so check the comment section to find part 2.

2024.06.09 22:55 Puzzleheaded_Yard92 Feature Request

Is there a way I can individually separate each file to be saved without having to exit the program and going back into it, without having to saving project which in turn does the previous step, or without the device crashing? Here is an example. I put in an audio file that plays one part of a Nikon introduction. I want to trim one half of it, and export it as an individual file but I don't feel like getting rid of it because I'm afraid something will happen to it and corrupt or delete, and/or not be able to get the other part back.
I only want to export that particular file that was trimmed, not the other half or the entirety of the file. Basically, what I'm trying to do is this can benefit for high memory saving and storage space depending on the amount and how long the file is. Another example is that I'm working on a railroad project, and I have so many voices on one file and I want to trim each of it. No big deal, normal editing.. right? Well, as a person who has witnessed some issues during the use of the product for a bit over 18 months (another story), but I want to export each individual file and rename each one continuously until either the PC fills up with storage with a message appearing that says the PC storage is full, or the recording file is completed. (whichever comes first).
I have another feature request, and it has to do with something similar to Microsoft Clipchamp with a feature called "AI-Generated Captions". Basically, it plays the video with audio, with audio being high priority to search and it tries to generate captions based on spelling, and pronunciation and this could help with the previous feature request in case I need to look back.
I use 2 video editors, Openshot (18 months) and Clipchamp (16 months) and I don't speak for them all.Note how I'm saying file, this can apply to video, audio, or both in one to reduce confusion.
Also if this is not the right place to send feature requests, can someone please direct me to the correct source? Any assistance is greatly appreciated

The Struggles of Adapting Peak Fiction Under Strict Production Constraints
\"But why not do both?\"
This is a follow-up to my last post defending the anime's decision to cut content for the sake of pacing but let me give you the TL;DR so you don't feel the need to have read that one before this as this post covers the same bases (and then some): The anime is first-and foremost the story of Rudeus Greyrat and must therefore prioritize his perspective, even at the cost of other characters' moments, regardless of how beloved those individual scenes are to fans of the Light Novels (myself included).
So let me start by addressing the strongest counter argument made in response to that post: "But the first season, and even Cour 1 of season 2 was able to maintain excellent pacing while having relatively few cuts! Why does the pacing in cour 2 still *FEEL* so rushed in comparison despite cutting so much?" That is an astute observation! And, quite frankly, you are asking the right questions. And for anyone planning to skip straight to the end of this admittedly \daunting* essay, here's a TL;DR for you: Episodes 19 & 20's reduced quality and heightened pace were done deliberately to provide the last 4 episodes of the season the space they need to breathe.* Continue reading if you want to find out how and why this had to be done.
It would be a fool's errand to argue that Cour 2 is NOT cutting less content than prior cours (because it absolutely is, and by quite a lot too), nor will I be arguing that the cour does NOT suffer some level of pacing issues because it absolutely is (see first post), rather I will be arguing in defense of the purpose of limiting the scope of what gets adapted, and why such decisions are necessary in the first place. However, before I delve any further into the specifics of Cour 2's production struggles, first I should elaborate how its production schedule differs from S1.

PART 1: Production Scheduling (aka setting the pace)

In case you were unaware, Season 1 was originally slated to be released in 2020 but was delayed to January of 2021 so it could actually receive all of the extra care and polish it truly deserved. For S2, Studio Bind's production staff, by contrast, had to make due with the time they were initially given. More time (and consequently more budget) usually fixes most production issues, but very few (extraordinarily rare) series ever receive that benefit and doing so twice was likely never even considered a possibility.
Sadly we are not in the alternate timeline where S2 benefitted from the same advantages that gave us gorgeous custom world-building OPs for every episode that freed up even more additional screen time for dialogue and character development (in some cases literally depicting entire chapters such as Paul's POV being shown during Ep 17's STUNNINGLY well executed OP montage). Thanks in part to that decision, S1 had significantly more wiggle room to work with, especially pertaining to the secondary cast, allowing it to more evenly adapt the world building, character development, and main narrative plotline of Mushoku Tensei as a whole utilizing that extra runtime (90 seconds per episode adds up to a LOT over the course of an entire season, plus the 5 EDs, that were integrated as needed on a per-episode basis, for an additional 7 1/2 minutes which adds up to a WHOPPING 43 1/2 MINUTES over the course of that 24 episode run and I should point out that S2 Cour 1 ALSO benefitted from this for the first 5 episodes including the OVA, giving that cour an added 9 minutes to utilize with Cour 2 receiving a paltry 3 minutes as only the 1st episode integrates the OP/ED runtime).
It's simply the reality that polish and quality was prioritized for S1 while scheduling and budget were prioritized for S2. If you want to be especially harsh, one could say S1 was treated as art, while S2 was treated as a commercial product, which is why I've set my expectations accordingly and hope this post helps others do the same. This becomes more apparent when you take into consideration that Studio Bind were also working on Onimai at the same time as S2 given their air dates were only 6 months apart. So not only was S2 not being given the same scheduling priority, it was COMPETING for resources. Given the BD sales numbers for every project they've released, at a minimum we can be assured that Studio Bind has been financially successful at least but the double edged nature of that success also means that certain priorities may have shifted away from MT and towards the new cash-cow. There's a reason I phrased my previous post so specifically: These episodes are a fine adaptation of Rudy's story.... and not much else because it simply doesn't have the screen time or resources to focus on anything besides Rudy's share of the narrative and character development.
Which ties directly into the second reason as to why cour 2 FEELS so rushed, even in comparison to cour 1. The contents of Volumes 10, 11, and 12 are significantly more *LINEAR\* with more individual events being depicted compared to Volumes 1-9. This translates to more content vying for screen time. But how much content are we talking about here? Well, I don't want to go too deeply into raw numbers as that's not really the point but let's set a baseline with some quick-n-dirty math to illustrate:
S1c1 covers 1326 pg / 3 = 442 pg/vol (11 episodes) = 40.2 pg / ep S1c2 covers 1280 pg / 3 = 427 pg/vol (12 episodes + OVA) = 32.8 pg / ep S2c1 covers 1268 pg / 3 = 423 pg/vol (12 episodes + OVA) = 32.5 pg / ep S2c2 covers 1381 pg / 3 = 460 pg/vol (12 episodes) = 38.3 pg / ep
Obviously these are EXTREMELY rough numbers that don't take into account any of the cut content, non-chapter related pages, nor the difference in available runtime afforded to S1 that I previously mentioned, but just by raw page count, that's technically LESS content than what the first 11 episodes of Season 1 had to adapt! Surely they could just tweak a few things to make everything fit! Unfortunately, it's not that simple. You see, there's a distinct lack of a certain type of content that made the lives of the production staff significantly easier by providing plenty of opportunities to pick and choose what made it into the final cut of an episode's runtime to keep the mainline story of Rudeus chugging along at the leisurely clip we're accustomed to.

PART 2: Narrative Fluff (aka work smarter, not longer)

Spoiler: It's the sheer density of secondary character POVs. The very ones we often grieved being cut as the episodes were coming out during S1. They add depth and complexity to the characters (and are, imho, singularly the most *profoundly insightful* pieces of writing Rifujin-sensei has ever produced) but 90% of the time are simply repeating the same events from a new perspective. HOWEVER, when adapted to an audio-visual medium, you can SHOW both perspectives simultaneously and let the audience infer what's going on in a secondary character's mind through the use of voice acting, animation, staging, lighting, OST, and sound design thereby allowing the anime-only audience to receive 90% of the same information that was conveyed during those same events in the novels.
The "missing" Eris POV is the primary example of this disconnect between how little LN readers think Anime-onlys are inferring and how much is being successfully communicated to them even if they themselves can't properly articulate what it was they took away from any particular scene. I highly recommend paying close attention to Eris' face in the 3 following episodes after the events of Turning Point 2 RATHER THAN READING THE SUBTITLES (dub watchers have an advantage here but BOTH performances do an incredible job) and you'll see (and hear) what I'm talking about. Sure we don't get every beat of her thought process spelled out for us in quite the same level of detail as in her POV chapter, but you can sense her inner conflict while watching Rudeus practice Disturb Magic as they ride into the outskirts of Fittoa and her heartache at seeing him standing forlornly in the ruins of his destroyed childhood home. The idea that she doesn't feel "worthy" of him is already being communicated by her facial expressions and her body language. Her letter stating how they aren't "well-balanced" in combination with that visual information is already providing context clues to the viewer as to what's going on in her head. In her final scene you can hear the sheer depth of her love give way to a deeply instilled sense of self-loathing, just by the tone of her voice, as she hoists Rudeus up onto that pedestal. Yet as she nears the end of her melancholic monologue more of that brash, passionate nature of hers seeps back into her delivery as pours her heart out.
To quote Harry Plinkett: "It's so subtle, you might not have even noticed... but your brain did."
The only emotion you could argue was nerfed by the adaptation is the depths of her self-loathing for having "taken advantage of him" after their night together but they still get a line in about their age and size difference, which when heard in her self-flagellating tone describing how "awful" she's been to him, you can easily make that inference. But you might also say "AHA even in those 3 episodes they left out how devastated she was when Rudy beat her using the demon eye after she finally gained some confidence in her strength" to which I say: Watch Ep 13: Missed Connections and, again, pay attention to Eris. Every part off the Buffalo was used.
They also never deliberately spell out her ardent belief that Rudeus is so strong and smart and amazing and brave and perfect that regardless of whatever she wrote as she struggled to find the words to leave in her letter, he would just clairvoyantly understand her intentions.... but you don't really NEED that spelled out for you when her final appearance is her shouting to the high heavens about how in love she is directly juxtaposed with Rudeus reverting to his former self-image shut away in his bedroom after very specifically misunderstanding the meaning of her words and actions! "I LOVE THIS MAN she screams as the man she loves thinks to himself "I can't believe she doesn't love me anymore." Seeing that, anyone could conclude "Were you expecting him to just KNOW what you meant??" Yes. Yes she was.
The Eris' POV wasn't "skipped content"... it was integrated. It's broken up and repurposed in bits and pieces over the course of 4, count 'em, FOUR separate episodes but 99% of it is there if you know what to look for (which for anime onlys is considered rewatch value).
By going through this in such agonizing detail I hope I'm properly communicating one of the greatest hang ups LN readers seem to have (or adaptational purists in general) relative to their expectations: You are putting entirely too much value into dialogue, monologue, and the text of a script relative to every other element the medium has to offer. The absence of TEXT does not diminish the SUBTEXT. An individual viewer might not know WHY they believe a character motivation exists as it does, but by and large most will pick up on those details whether it be deliberate (in the case of a certain psychologist youtuber who keeps nailing plot predictions over and over BECAUSE ALL OF THE INFORMATION YOU NEED IS RIGHT, THE F**K, THERE) or subconsciously (in the case of most passive audience members).

PART 1 (COUR 2): THE RESCHEDULENING (aka MATH)

Now, having detailed how a POV chapter can actually be efficiently absorbed into the runtime of the show without disrupting or sidetracking the main narrative, let's re-examine the topic of how (as well as why) this affects the production schedule. As I previously stated, overall Volume 1-9 have quite a number of POV chapters to work around as buffers to the rest of the content. Don't believe me? Let me break it down a bit more then:
Vol 1 contains ~ 2 1/2 POV chapters out of 10 = 25% Vol 2 contains ~ 2 3/4 POV chapters out of 11 = 25% Vol 3 contains ~ 1 POV chapters out of 15 = 6.5% (one of the longer action heavy volumes, yet only 3 eps) On average ~19% of content is POV. Vol 4 contains ~ 2 1/4 POV chapters out of 12 = 19% Vol 5 contains ~ 4 POV chapters out of 11 = 36% Vol 6 contains ~ 2 1/4 POV chapters out of 15 = 15% On average ~23% of content is POV. Vol 7 contains ~ 1 1/4 POV chapters out of 8 (technically 9, short prologue + epilogue combined) = 15.5% Vol 8 contains ~ 2 POV chapters out of 12 = 17% Vol 9 contains ~ 3.75 POV chapters out of 12.5 (several very short POVs, adjusted for fairness) = 30% On average ~21% of content is POV. Vol 10 contains ~ 2 POV chapters out of 14 = 14% Vol 11 contains ~ 2 POV chapters out of 16 = 12.5% Vol 12 contains ~ 1 1/2 POV chapters out of 16 = 9% On average ~12% of content is POV. \Note* Several chapters are not purely dedicated to secondary character POVs but rather "cut aways" between Rudy's own perspective and are occasionally EXTREMELY short (I assigned 1/4 amounts for especially short POVs to give them weight, but to prevent over-representing them. Additionally while chapters vary in length they generally represent individual events which I feel is a more apt form of measurement to relate to the anime adaptation in place of page counts (you're not gonna find the table of contents, copyrights, or the author's afterward being adapted after all). These are VERY rough estimations and should not be taken as "objective" measurements.))
Look at that proportional difference for Volume 10-12 relative to the other cours. While production had the advantage of consistently folding a little more than 1/5 of the content into the current runtime the current cour has almost 10% more content competing for the same amount of screen time as the cour before it. In fact, it's significantly LESS screen time as only the 1st episode bypassed the OP/ED compared to Cour 1's 4 episodes (and if you include the OVA, cour 1 already had a 24 minute head start in addition to the extra 3 per ep for a whopping total of 36 extra minutes of runtime over cour 2), Even if we're exceedingly generous and assume the next 4 episodes skip the OP/ED each, that would still leave it at a 24 minute disadvantage just in comparison to cour 1, not to mention the additional screen time afforded to S1 as I've already covered.

Part 3: Screen Time as a Resource (aka Content / Time = Stress)

In a novel characters can engage in chapter length diatribes or strategic planning in their own heads, engage in "talking is a free action" whilst in a fight to the death, and all sorts of ridiculous temporal bending contrivances that simply do not translate to the screen where time is the single most precious commodity (unless you're a shonen protagonist charging up your kamehameha). So let's view this from the scriptwriters' perspective to understand why they are forced to make some very difficult choices. As you are starting work on your assigned episode(s), the show's production committee makes the call that while previously you were afforded as much as ~300 minutes (5 hours) to convey ~1K pages of material, this time you only get ~255 minutes (4 1/4 hours) to convey ~1200 pages of the same density of material. Much more information to convey in much less time and you only JUST BARELY scrapped by to include as much as you could the last 3 times. That's means that at a MINIMUM, 200 of those pages are destined for the cutting room floor.
Though speaking of shounen protagonists, action set pieces are extraordinarily useful for either expanding OR condensing a scene's runtime by exactly as much as you need to fit within an episode's runtime. Need to add time? Go balls-to-the-wall, high-octane, budget-melting sakuga insanity that outshines even the source material (Turning Point 2/Eris vs Assassins) or you can condense high page counts into surprisingly short runtimes while still conveying the impact and information stored in those several pages worth of text. High impact, malleable screen time, same information conveyed. More time to dedicate to world building and secondary character development. As such, S1 (cour 2 especially) had a TREMENDOUS amount of leeway in how much they wished to expand OR condense action scenes at their discretion compared to the (comparatively) action-lite S2 (for Cour 1 at least).
So then you might ask with Cour 2 revving up the action again, why is it instead CUTTING tons of those action scenes rather than merely truncating them to make space for dialogue scenes like the prior cours? The short answer is there's already no time to spare. The longer, more complex answer is action scenes can't exist in a vacuum. In the same way you have to accelerate and decelerate in your car evenly to get from point A to point B safely, you can't simply hit 0-60 mph in under 2 seconds and you certainly can't go from 60 to 0 in a fraction of a second unless you want an episodes' pacing to liquify like your internal organs. Before, during, and sometimes after a fight scene is initiated, several questions need to be answered for the audience like "Who/what is fighting?" "Where are they positioned?" "What is the level of threat?" "What are the stakes?" "What are the win conditions?" with greater or fewer questions depending on the complexity of the scene or it's meaning to the character(s). Failing to provide the audience adequate answers to these questions can easily result in a nonsensical farce.... unless that's literally your intention. Thankfully, the requirement for winding down action is much simpler. After a beat of heightened tension, your protagonist simply lowers their guard/weapon and the message communicated to the audience is "the threat is over" and within seconds you can move to the next scene.
Most major encounters follow this rhythm throughout the series, with individual chapters dedicated solely to these fights, spanning page counts that are generally (but not always) on the higher end. In general, there are only 1-2 major battles per volume. Vol 11 and 12, by contrast, have several chapters that contain a half dozen individual skirmishes apiece that make adapting the material a total NIGHTMARE to pick and choose what makes the cut. So as an example, a weirdly high amount of time is seemingly spent establishing the succubus encounter in ep 19. Why you may ask? So they could ride those same rules of engagement straight into the following montage to inform the audience "these fights possess the same rules of engagement we just established" without having to spend the additional time winding up each one individually (another, more humorous example, is Ruijerd "dueling" the 3 North God students in a row). The montage also pulls double duty by conveying both the passage of time and distance. You'd think truncating roughly 1/5 of the entire volume into a scant 60 seconds would give them plenty of extra time to work with, but sadly, the ability to condense content is still only enough to break even with the established pace.
Another major element that placed Season 2 at a massive disadvantage is that Season 2 had to use it's precious 25th episode OVA to *catch up* on content that was deferred from Season 1 as Sylphy's POV chapters starting all the way back in Vol 4 did not make the cut. So rather than getting a jump start, the OVA was actually just catching up on deferred content that could not be included DESPITE all of the tremendous advantages I've previously discussed. And even then, it still needed to skip all but a few scant details from the intervening chapters that bridge the gap between Sylphy becoming Silent Fitz and Ariel's entire entourage fleeing to Ranoa's University of Magic resulting in all but 5 of them being slaughtered by assassins in hideously gruesome fashion. In a nutshell, Season 2 actually only has 24 episodes to dedicate to itself, and most of the benefits of scheduling seems to have heavily favored Cour 1 over Cour 2.
At this point, assuming like everyone else who joined up with Studio Bind, you are yourself a massive fan of the series and absolutely love these novels, you are effectively being asked to CHOOSE your favorite children chapters to sacrifice in the name of ending the season at a satisfying arc conclusion. Sure you could just adapt at the same rate of chapters-to-screen time as before and conclude the final 12th episode with THAT THING THAT HAPPENS but somehow I feel like doing so would result in death threats being strapped to a brick and hurled through your office windows. You've certainly maintained the integrity of the show's original pacing, but telling fans to sit tight until the next production cycle is ready in another 2-3 years feels like a recipe for disaster.
And frankly, Vol 12 has some INTENSELY heavy dialogue/monologue scenes filing out the back half of the volume that are going to need significantly more screen time to convey the necessary information relative to the first half as it is ENTIRELY Rudy-centric. So the only way to get there with enough time to allow the season to reach a natural and satisfying conclusion and still hit all of the vitally necessary plot threads is to put those proverbial chapter babies containing some of your favorite character interactions and world building on the alter as a ritual sacrifice for more time on the clock. And what did those sacrifices get you? 5 episodes. A range of 105-117 minutes (depending on OP/ED usage) of screen time to cover the single densest volume since vol 3 (see above). Barely one episode ahead of pace (but in terms of available screen time still barely ahead) of prior cours. And if you think it's unfortunate that ACTION was being cut, oh lordy I have some *bad news for you.\*

Part 4: Screenwriting as an Artform (aka how write story gud)

"But why are they STILL so stretched for time if they have access to and are utilizing all of these time-saving techniques?" Well I'm hoping the previous 3 parts of this gargantuan multi-tiered super essay have helped establish the constraints Studio Bind are working under compared to the prior cours. Cour 2 is working with significantly LESS screen time, with MORE events to manage and they're already so stretched for time that even multi-chapter spanning story events like the Merchant caravan are being cut entirely, rather than merely abridged, to make up that difference.
The requirement for "essential viewing" grows ever higher as mundane scenes like coming in and out of the teleporter still HAVE to be given priority over fan-beloved moments of character development because as uninteresting as those kinds of expository, utilitarian scenes are, they serve a far more vital purpose in a screenplay for communicating to the audience the "BUT, THEREFORE, BECAUSE" flow of script writing (watch the video it's extremely short and a great explainer, but essentially "But = Complication", "Therefore = Next logical action", "Because = Character motivation for performing said action"). You literally cannot skip these unremarkable, bog standard scenes because doing so would commit one of the deadliest sins of storytelling that I was alluding to when discussing how to establish action scenes: The Discontinuity of the dreaded "AND THEN" statement. If you're watching a movie and it's a series of "and then this happened and then that happened and then this person showed up" it ceases to be less a story so much as watching someone's attention span annihilating slideshow of vacation photographs.
As an example, scenes like the ones that establish how, where, and why Rudy and Elinalise use the teleporter to get from Ranoa to Begaritt are slow, mundane, and heavily time consuming and yet are so absolutely necessary as a scriptwriter to take the time to make sure the audience can follow along the logical thru-line for how these scenes connect to one another. If you skip such seemingly trifling, yet necessary information, the audience is not going to react by saying "oh THAT SCENE I LOVE is coming up" but rather "wait, why are we in a desert?"
As an example I'll use the last 2 episodes to demonstrate. The logical flow of episode 19 into 20 proceeds as follows (some parts are truncated for *relative* brevity):
"Rudy needs to leave for Rapan. THEREFORE he tells everyone goodbye, BUT Nanahoshi knows how to teleport there. THEREFORE he changes his route with Elinalise. THEREFORE they get prepared BECAUSE they want to save Zenith, BUT Cliff proposes to Elinalise BECAUSE he feels his lack of commitment was making her nervous. THEREFORE Elinalise is caught off guard BECAUSE she originally intended to leave without telling him to break off their relationship. THEREFORE she accepts his proposal. THEREFORE they travel to the teleporter, BUT teleporters are considered a source of danger to adventurers. THEREFORE they study it first as a safety precaution. THEREFORE they verify it's safe operation and use it. THEREFORE they arrive in Begaritt, BUT they are attacked by a Succubus. THEREFORE Rudy needs to detox himself BECAUSE they want to keep their promise to Cliff and Sylphy. THEREFORE they continue their sexless journey, BUT they are attacked several more times. THEREFORE they kill the monsters and proceed with caution. THEREFORE they arrive in Rapan in ~6 weeks. THEREFORE Geese is surprised to see them when they arrive, BECAUSE he only sent the letter so recently. THEREFORE he takes them to see Paul. THEREFORE they reunite with Paul, BUT Paul has fallen back into depression BECAUSE they lost Roxy while failing to find Zenith. THEREFORE Rudy tells Paul about his marriage and pregnancy with Sylphy. THEREFORE Paul recovers BECAUSE of the joy and pride he feels for his son BUT still feels worthless BECAUSE of his failures. THEREFORE Paul finally notices Elinalise. THEREFORE he apologizes BECAUSE ....uh y'know that thing that happened. THEREFORE Paul and Elinalise reconcile BUT Paul is confused that she didn't sleep with Rudy BECAUSE of her curse. THEREFORE she explains her husband Cliff's magic tool BUT Paul can't believe she has a husband. THEREFORE they get into another spat BUT the rest of the party returns during their argument THEREFORE Rudy learns that Roxy is lost in the labyrinth. THEREFORE Rudy starts to panic as the party begins to squabble. THEREFORE Elinalise takes Rudy's shoulder to draw his attention BECAUSE she realized he was panicking. THEREFORE Rudy asks to be caught up on the situation. THEREFORE Paul describes the difficulty of the Teleportation Labyrinth. THEREFORE Rudy gives Geese the book detailing it's depths which he borrowed BECAUSE he would be using a teleporter to get to Begaritt, BUT it will take Geese time to read it. THEREFORE Paul calls the meeting to a close to allow Geese to adjust their strategy using the book. THEREFORE Rudy, Paul, and Lilia start talking, BUT Paul is still a crude dude. THEREFORE the topic turns to sex BUT Lilia is in denial about being a total sex freak. THEREFORE Paul teases her BECAUSE he knowns how much she likes it rough. THEREFORE they retire for the night after some locker room talk. THEREFORE they depart for the labyrinth the following day. THEREFORE they reach the labyrinth and begin their descent, BUT Paul is breaking formation to show off in front of Rudeus. THEREFORE Elinalise scolds him, BECAUSE she wants to keep her family safe. THEREFORE Paul flippantly dismisses her claims of thinking of him like a son, BUT he is unaware of their connection through Sylphy. THEREFORE they continue further into the Labyrinth maintaining their formation, BUT they encounter new monsters. THEREFORE Rudy starts to cast a spell, BUT Talhand advises him not to use fire BECAUSE it fills a room with poison BECAUSE the concept of carbon monoxide poisoning exists but isn't fully understood in this universe BUT he also advices not attacking the ceiling BECAUSE it could cause a cave-in. THEREFORE Rudy uses ice magic to kill the remaining monsters. THEREFORE they advance to the second stratum in proper formation. THEREFORE they breeze through the second formation and take a break before entering the third. THEREFORE Geese uses the opportunity to inform Rudy that the next section is where Roxy went missing and may still be near that area BECAUSE teleporter traps only warp victims within the same stratum. THEREFORE as they approach where they lost Roxy, Geese asks Rudy where he'd look for Roxy based on his intuition. AND THEN Using his intuition, Rudy notices condensation on a wall and uses his Roxy Odor Snoof Sense to detect Roxy's location through a damn wall despite being a contrivance BUT it's the same contrivance used in the source material THEREFORE shut up. THEREFORE we cut to Roxy BUT she's being surrounded by monsters. THEREFORE she casts numerous spells to hold them at bay, BUT she runs out of mana. THEREFORE she believes she's about to die BUT Rudy saves her just in the nick of time. THEREFORE Roxy is shaken to her core at the sight of the man who saved her despite not recognizing Rudy, BUT then her POV didn't play out the way it did in the novels THEREFORE LN purists got upset BECAUSE they assumed her POV had been cut BUT they forgot that Roxy's POV has always been shown tremendous favoritism by Studio Bind THEREFORE they jumped to conclusions unaware it would happen the following episode.

THEREFORE Calm down and let Studio Bind cook

Effectively the point I hope I have demonstrated is that there IS a logical and consistent thru-line from scene to scene to scene that an audience can follow (and if you want to improve as a screenwriter, this is a GREAT exercise to figure out what makes your favorite shows tick. It's basically the screenwriter's equivalent to tracing someone else' art as practice). Even these unfairly maligned episodes have a viewing experience that provides a consistent sense of pacing. But if you want to know WHAT precisely feels different about them? Well if I had chosen to break down episodes from any of the prior 3 cours (or the best episodes of this cour), you'd be seeing the word BECAUSE significantly more to fill out every action, reaction, and complication along the way. If "THEREFORE" and "BUT" are the easel and canvas, which are necessary to even begin the process of creating art, then "BECAUSE" is the screenwriter's paintbrush that allows them to breathe life and detail into the characters on screen. The prior 3 cours were awash with "BECAUSE" statements detailing why characters are behaving the way they are in every individual scene so if there's one crime that can legitimately be pinned against several episodes in the latest cour, it's "JUST 'CUZ."

PART FINAL: The TL;DR (aka the... tl;dr)

So having laid all this out in such verbose, granular detail, what exactly does all of this mean?
To put it bluntly, Season 1 being such a near-perfect masterwork of adaptation spoiled the ever loving hell out of us. Having gorged ourselves on that expectation, we've ruined our appetites because now such perks are simply anticipated as standard with a vocal minority now irked by the use of a standard OP simply because it follows the conventions of the medium or (stay with me here) committing the sin of appealing to shonen fans. I know, truly a crime worthy of sudoku because of 14 seconds depicting one of the single most important events in the series. I truly don't understand (seriously, explain it to me please).
The current cour is merely receiving the same treatment most adaptations are given while still outperforming its peers if weekly rankings are anything to go by. Episodes range from pretty good to excellent (Norn and Nanahoshi's spotlight eps being the highlights thus far despite some grumbling) with even the extremely barebones Ep 19 squeezing in what sparse worldbuilding nuggets it can despite the plot literally necessitating that Rudy book it from one side of the planet to the other within a 21 minute period (a production level pacing decision you are still free to criticize). As I said earlier (but it bears repeating) these episodes are a good adaptation of Rudy's story rather than the whole that makes up MT because it simply doesn't have the screen time to focus on anything that falls outside the scope of his perspective given the sheer breadth of competing narrative essential content. As a show, these episodes are still delivering a cohesive and engaging thru-line by being glued to Rudy's perspective. So as long as Rudy remains interesting to watch the audience will be more than satisfied.
Expecting the same anomalous level of dedication AND leniency from the production committee to happen for every season was unfortunately nothing but a pipe dream. Cour 2 is now being forced to make due with what it has and while they are doing a commendable job given the heavy restrictions, it is completely unreasonable to expect them to fit so much into such tight confines. It is the adaptation equivalent of being asked to fit everything into one grocery bag, but not wanting the bag to be heavy.
Could this cour have been scheduled better? Absolutely. Was it possible certain changes to the script or episode direction could have provided more opportunities to explore the cut content? Of course. Is it still a total bummer that the realities of production that have compromised the artistic integrity of our beloved peak fiction? Without a doubt.
We are simply going to have to get used to the fact that S1 may never be topped with our only hope being the return of the waifu-wars for S3 rekindles the beefs between animators vying for shot assignments (which may hopefully still be in the cards god willing).
Of course, I'm not a future seer, so maybe, just maybe, Studio Bind bursts into flames and all of the footage is lost resulting in the quality of the last 3 episodes to be the worst drop off of a television show since the final season of Game of Thrones. If that is the case then I'll be eating more crow than I ever have in my life. But if Studio Bind sticks the landing and delivers on the emotional climax to one of the most beloved arcs among the fanbase that we've anticipated for years, then please calm it down with these exaggerated "cutting content is ruining the show" claims.
Thank you from coming to my Ted Talk and enjoy the rest of the season everyone.

2024.06.09 22:46 TitanAura The Struggles of Adapting Peak Fiction Under Strict Production Constraints

You're probably aware that athletes, particularly NBA players, make a lot of money, but do you know who the world's NBA's Richest players are?
If your answer is no, you've arrived at the right place. We see these folks on holidays and on social media showcasing their newest cars or mansions.
As a result, it's natural for us to wonder how much money they make and how wealthy they are. NBA players have long had one of the most lucrative contracts in the sports entertainment industry.
Furthermore, unlike the NLF, MLB, or NHL, an NBA player's minimum pay is nearly twice that of any other league globally.
Nonetheless, based on what we've seen over the years, most of the richest NBA players do not rely solely on a pay as their primary source of revenue.
Many of the wealthiest players are financial wizards, and others are surrounded by a team of highly skilled financial consultants.
These groups of financial consultants frequently counsel them on which investments to make and which deals to avoid.
According to what we've observed over the years, Brand deals and sponsorships are essential for a professional player's financial success.
From Michael Jordan to LeBron James to Kevin Durant, these stars make a lot of money off the court. Let's look at the top ten NBA Richest players of all time.

1. Michael Jordan

Net Worth: $2.2 Billion
Michael Jordan is a former basketball player, team owner, product endorser, and entrepreneur from the United States. Furthermore, Michael made $93.7 million in compensation during his NBA career.
He was the first athlete in history to receive a salary of more than $30 million a year. He, however, earned $30.14 million in basic salary during the 1996-1997 season to reach this feat.
After adjusting for inflation, he made $33.14 million the following season, equivalent to $53.4 million today.
Michael earns $100 million every year from endorsements and other commercial enterprises, although he hasn't played basketball professionally in nearly two decades.
Please remember that this is more money in a single year than he made in 16 NBA seasons. Michael makes at least $60 million a year in royalties from the Nike/Jordan brand.
Michael's ownership stake in the Charlotte Hornets NBA franchise helped him become a millionaire. This investment will be discussed in greater depth later in this essay.
Furthermore, Jordan won six NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls. He has won the league MVP award five times. On September 112009, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame as the player with the best career scoring average of all time.

2024.06.09 22:19 OldBayJ [SerSun] Serial Sunday: Beauty!

Welcome to Serial Sunday!

To those brand new to the feature and those returning from last week, welcome! Do you have a self-established universe you’ve been writing or planning to write in? Do you have an idea for a world that’s been itching to get out? This is the perfect place to explore that. Each week, I post a theme to inspire you, along with a related image and song. You have 500 - 1000 words to write your installment. You can jump in at any time; writing for previous weeks’ is not necessary in order to join. After you’ve posted, come back and provide feedback for at least 1 other writer on the thread. Please be sure to read the entire post for a full list of rules.

This Week’s Theme is Beauty!

We all have an aesthetic sense, even if we don't all agree on it. Some combination of shapes, colors, and form that draws the eye and evokes a positive sensation. Attraction, approval, intrigue, delight, joy, there are many things that beauty can evoke even if it is only ever skin deep.
Or can it be deeper? Does beauty exist beyond the realms of visual cues? What does your world consider beautiful? Is your protagonist a beauty? Does the antagonist use their looks for their own gain? Is it a fixed state, or can beauty be lost and become ugly? Can something ugly become beautiful? Can two people who disagree on what 'beauty' is find mutual attraction? Blurb provided by u/ZachTheLitchKing.
These are just a few things to get you started. Remember, the theme should be present within the story in some way, but its interpretation is completely up to you. For the bonus words (not required), you may change the tense, but the base word should remain the same. Please remember to follow all sub and post rules.

  • Submit a story inspired by the weekly theme, written by you and set in your self-established universe that is 500 - 1000 words. No fanfics and no content created or altered by AI. (Use wordcounter.net to check your wordcount.) Stories should be posted as a top-level comment below. Please include a link to your chapter index or your last chapter at the end.
  • Your chapter must be submitted by Saturday at 9:00am EST. Late entries will be disqualified. All submissions should be given (at least) a basic editing pass before being posted!
  • Begin your post with the name of your serial between triangle brackets (e.g. ). When our bot is back up and running, this will allow it to recognize your serial and add each chapter to the SerSun catalog. Do not include anything in the brackets you don’t want in your title. (Please note: You must use this same title every week.)
  • Do not pre-write your serial. You’re welcome to do outlining and planning for your serial, but chapters should not be pre-written. All submissions should be written for this post, specifically.
  • Only one active serial per author at a time. This does not apply to serials written outside of Serial Sunday.
  • All Serial Sunday authors must leave feedback on at least one story on the thread each week. The feedback should be actionable and also include something the author has done well. When you include something the author should improve on, provide an example! You have until Saturday at 11:59pm EST to post your feedback. (Submitting late is not an exception to this rule.)
  • Missing your feedback requirement two or more consecutive weeks will disqualify you from rankings and Campfire readings the following week. If it becomes a habit, you may be asked to move your serial to the sub instead.
  • Serials must abide by subreddit content rules. You can view a full list of rules here. If you’re ever unsure if your story would cross the line, please modmail and ask!

Weekly Campfires & Voting:

2024.06.09 22:06 International_One110 Beyond Meat Unpacked & Served Up Hot $BYND Due Dilligence

Beyond Meat Unpacked & Served Up Hot $BYND Due Dilligence
Tl;Dr: The setup for $BYND is very similar to $GME & IV has not pumped yet due to little (but eerily similar to GME) price action on both the long-term & short term time-frames. Many bullish factors are listed below, namely 170% cost to borrow with 96% utilization & a high days-to-cover ratio. A catalyst to come is a new collaboration with McDonald's, yet to hit the press (sauce). On both technical & tinfoil (related to GME) levels, $BYND is looking to make a move.
Greetings, fellow carnivores. Happy 06/09 & I hope you are having an excellent weekend given the recent hype! First off, let me say that I believe in the redemption of some of our great American companies from the depths - namely GameStop.
Needless to say, this is not financial advice & we should all do our own research. I'm here to lay out the (lab-made) bull-case for Beyond Meat, ticker $BYND.

The Tandem Trade

Now, we all know what happened with GameStop in January of 2021, and there were a few basket stocks that squoze a bit in tandem. Namely, AMC, (BB)BY, KOSS, and one that people might not have paid attention to (because it wasn't on the list of stocks shown below)- $BYND.
https://preview.redd.it/0bxh071upl5d1.png?width=458&format=png&auto=webp&s=233b7b353691653d8e43a21664a632cdf14fd940
Strap in because we're in this for the (short?) long haul - the company has a terrible standing. It is struggling to get items off the shelf & although their fake chicken is arguably better tasting and healthier than regular chicken - it's weird as shit. So is their chart in January '21:
Ran during the 2021 \"meme stock rally\" on no news
Google shows a moderate averaged price rise of 51%, but it went from a low of $114.05 on 01/04/2021 (same day as GME's Jan dip before the rip) to a high of $221 on January 27th, that infamous GME day - meaning it had a January run of 94% at the same time as GME's rip. Something something about basket stocks. Not to mention, it has the exact same run into June as GME the same year, going from a low of $99.86 to a short-term high of $160.28.
GME 100% run in May-June 2021, Starting ~May 10th.
BYND 50% run in May-June 2021, Starting ~May 10th.
Now, I hope these past trends can help you understand BYND's recent price action in the basket. Let's compare:
GME 1 Month
BYND 1 Month
Looking awfully similar, even with zero dilution from the $BYND board (not flaming GME for doing it as it is very advantageous for their overall business). Now, I introduce you too the Ortex data.
https://preview.redd.it/ee4pso47xl5d1.png?width=1918&format=png&auto=webp&s=2c4e890db93d81d0ac85da995651784cea5f9677

Some notable stats:

  • 170.26% Cost to Borrow
    • 96.13% utilization, meaning 96% of loanable shares are already taken.
  • 9.69 Days to Cover
    • This has been ticking up quite a bit. This is the ratio of SI / average volume, meaning that to cover one's shorts, the volume would need to be large.
  • 38.83% Short Interest of Free Float
    • It has a "Short Score" of 96.16% according to Ortex, indicating the stock has many characteristics of a setup for a capitulation of shorts.
  • Implied Volatility 30 Day: 40%
    • The implied volatility being low (compared to other "meme stocks") means that this is a cheap opportunity to enter into a position compared to the likes of others that have experienced large swings in price, pricing retail out of options on big names like GME.
Bullish Crossover

Additional Macro-factors:

  • HPAI (highly-pathogenic avian influenza) is spreading throughout farms in America. For the first time in history - cows & humans have been able to contract it. Lab-meat, albeit weird as shit, is positioned to net in a few hypochondriacs who are worried about food & livestock safety. Sauce
  • This is a big "if" - but news was leaked that BYND accidentally leaked their collaboration with McDonalds, even shown on the McDonald's website - Sauce. When this is released to the press & promotion begins, we could see this as a strong catalyst. Better yet, the reception I'm picking up through my tinfoil says McDonald's might even acquire them.
    • An acquisition by McDonald's is some serious tinfoil - please do your own research. BYND has missed their earning's projections early this year, yet continue to claim that 2024 is their "turnaround year". This is why I believe they have something planned. Sauce
  • Shifting Consumer Preferences (Ethical treatment of animals), Technological Advancement (continues to get cheaper to produce & taste getting better), Health Considerations (Processed Meat = heart disease & cancers; allergy-friendly), Sustainability (Reduces Carbon Footprint; With population increasing, sustainable protein options are important).

Positions:

-A one-eyed, one-horned, flying purple(circle) hedgie eater.
-06/21/2024 Calls:
  • 400 - 7$ calls @ 1.06 each. I bought my largest position in-the-money as to set a strong downside protection; akin to DFV's strategy of $20 GME calls.
  • 200 - 8$ calls @ .61 each.
  • 224 - 9$ calls @ .35 each.
    • These $8 & $9 calls are to provide support to the downside as positive price action unfolds, building Gamma on the chain as well as ensuring delta is hedged, increasing overall buying pressure.
Feel free to do the math on your own to see how much I've lost.
Disclaimer (for the second time): This is a risky scenario and although I am confident in my investment & am prone to a riskier investment style; I recommend everyone do their own research before making their own investment decisions. With that said, thank you for reading and have a great weekend.
Edit: Cleared up photos that were pasted in a bad format.

NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE, PLEASE DO YOUR OWN DUE DILIGENCE BEFORE INVESTING
If you're going to use this spreadsheet elsewhere, please give me credit, this took me many hours to put together and would like credit where credit is due.
I thought because everyone seems to post bits of information at one time but no one has really been able to paint a full picture yet, I thought I would compile all the data in one place and hopefully create a full story. I have also posted a fundamental analysis with P/S and Residual Income Model attached as well in the past. The residual income model essentially shows the fair value of the stock after assets and liability capital has been taken care of and that creates this "Book value" (What's left for sharesholders).
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12vOGh17MvgyRsECH0-SR29FKLu_eyZPTCXxGYnN6Yng/edit?usp=sharing
  1. All data sources are included on the first page of the spreadsheet.
  2. I have highlighted some key dates on there where we saw some really high short volume or significant increases/decreases in price. I have also drew a line at the 5/13 date because I feel like this is when this movement really took off. (My first shares purchased were on 5/14)
  3. Borrow Fee sheet includes charts for each day showing when the shares are typically borrowed. I've found most of the borrowing of shares happens at night, most likely this is why we see significant price decreases in the early morning.
Here is the brief summary I have put together of the timeline of events we have for those that may want some help piecing everything together.

2024.06.09 21:57 ScarHydreigon87 How to play Yelan in D&D

Greetings, YelanMains! I come to you today with a different type of Yelan build. Instead of a build for her in-game, I'm gonna be showcasing how to build and play Yelan in Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition. This is something I've been doing for Genshin characters recently, and I wanna share it with you all.
Let’s start off with our goals for this build. First, we need to be a master at manipulation, intel gathering, and espionage. Secondly, we need to wield a bow, as that’s your weapon of choice. Lastly, we need to utilize magical abilities to support your allies, as while we won’t be able to replicate her abilities exactly, we’ll still keep that support role for her.
(Please note that I stopped playing Genshin when Yelan came out, so I know next to nothing about her lore or character other than she's like a spy for Ningguang or something like that)
For stats, we’ll be using the Standard Point array from the Player’s Handbook. Roll for stats if you want, just keep your Dexterity and Charisma high for multiclassing.
15 Charisma, as you are a master of manipulation and deception.
14 Dexterity, as you are nimble, and it’s the stat for bows.
13 Intelligence, as being a secret agent requires a sharp mind.
12 Wisdom, as you are very insightful and good at reading people
10 Constitution, as while I hate to have it low, you are canonically frail, and while yes, her abilities scale with max HP in-game, that's not a thing in D&D.
And lastly, 8 Strength, as again, you are frail.
For Race, Yelan is a human, and Variant Humans get a Feat. The Actor Feat is perfect for going undercover. You get +1 to Charisma, advantage on Deception and Performance checks to pass off as another person, and you can spend a minute listening in on someone to mimic their speech. Bump your Intelligence and Charisma with your 2 Free points, take Perception for your Skill of choice, and the Spy Background for Stealth and Deception as you are an Intelligence Agent.
We’ll kick things off as a Rogue. 1st Level Rogues can pick 4 Skills from the Rogue list. Insight, Persuasion, Sleight of Hand, and Investigation would be my picks. You also get Expertise in 2 of those Skills, doubling your proficiency bonus with them. Go for Persuasion and Deception to order your way around everyone. You also learn Thieves Cant, letting you speak in secret code words, and Sneak Attack, giving you an extra d6 to add to a weapon attack once per turn if you either have advantage on the attack roll or have an ally within 5 feet of you.
2nd Level Rogues get Cunning Action, letting you Dash, Disengage, or Hide as a Bonus Action.
3rd Level Rogues get to pick a Roguish Archetype, and Inquisitive is useful for uncovering information. You have an Eye for Detail, letting you use a bonus action to make a Perception or Investigation check to find a hidden creature or object or check for clues. You also have an Ear for Deceit, meaning you cannot roll lower than an 8 on any Insight check to tell if someone is lying. You also get Insightful Fighting, letting you use a bonus action to have a creature you can see make a Deception check contested by your Insight check. If you succeed, then you can use your Sneak Attack on that creature without needing advantage or another ally for up to a minute or until you use it on someone else. Lastly, 3rd Level Rogues get Steady Aim, letting you use a bonus action to gain advantage on your next ranged attack roll as long as you don’t move or haven’t moved that turn, and Your Sneak Attack increases to 2d6.
4th Level Rogues get an Ability Score Improvement or a Feat. We’ll take the Skill Expert Feat for +1 to Charisma, Proficiency in Intimidation, and Expertise in Insight.
Now that we have our sneaky Rogue stuff handled for now, let’s multiclass into Bard, as while Yelan isn’t a singer or performer, Bards, much like Rogues, are very good in social situations. Multiclassing into Bard gets you 1 free Skill. Acrobatics would be my pick. You get Bardic Inspiration, letting you use a bonus action to give an ally a d6 they can use to add to an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw within the next 10 minutes, an amount of times per long rest equal to your Charisma modifier, similar to an Exquisite Roll. You can also cast spells as your Vision does grant you magical abilities. For your Cantrips, take Vicious Mockery and Message. For your spells, take Silvery Barbs, Charm Person, Dissonant Whispers, and Command.
2nd Level Bards get Jack of All Trades, letting you add half your proficiency bonus to any ability check you aren’t proficient with, which include initiative rolls. You also get Song of Rest, letting your allies add an extra d6 whenever they spend hit dice to restore HP during a short rest to keep them up in the field. You also get the option of Magical Inspiration, letting an ally who has a Bardic Inspiration die use it to add to the damage or healing of a spell.
3rd Level Bards can pick a Bard College, and College of Whispers is another fine choice for a deceptive and manipulative agent. You get Psychic Blades, letting you spend a Bardic Inspiration to deal an extra 2d6 Psychic damage with a weapon attack once per turn. You also get Words of Terror, letting you spend a minute talking to someone alone and have them make a Wisdom saving throw or be frightened by you or another creature you choose for up to an hour or until the target is attacked. If they succeed, they have no indication you tried to frighten them. You can now also learn 2nd Level Spells. Take the spells Hold Person and Zone of Truth to catch them in the net.
Last, but not least, 3rd Level Bards get Expertise in 2 more Skills. Go for Perception and Investigation.
4th Level Bards get an Ability Score Improvement. Cap your Charisma for the most Bardic Inspiration and better spells and skills. Take the spell Invisibility.
5th Level Bards get Font of Inspiration, meaning your Bardic Inspiration now recharges on a short rest as well, and it also upgrades from a d6 to a d8. You can also learn 3rd Level Spells. Take the Spell Nondetection. Your damage from Psychic Blades also increases to 3d6.
6th Level Whispers Bards get Mantle of Whispers, letting you use your reaction to capture the shadow of a humanoid that dies within 30 feet of you. Until you finish a long rest, you can use your action to assume the form of the Shadow, taking on the humanoid’s appearance for 1 hour or until you end it as a bonus action. While you're disguised, you gain access to all information that the humanoid would freely share with a casual acquaintance, Such information as general details on its background and personal life, and you gain a +5 bonus to Deception checks when someone tries to see through your disguise. Once you capture a shadow, you cannot do so again until you finish a short or long rest. For your spell, take Hypnotic Pattern.
Lastly, 6th Level Bards get Countercharm, letting you use your action to give you and your allies advantage on saving throws against being charmed or frightened, but this feature is honestly pretty bad.
Back to Rogue for the rest of the build. 5th Level Rogues get Uncanny Dodge, letting you use your reaction to halve the damage you take from an attack against you. Your Sneak Attack also increases to 3d6.
6th Level Rogues get Expertise in 2 more skills. Go for Stealth and Intimidation.
7th Level Rogues get Evasion, meaning when you make a Dexterity saving throw to avoid damage, you take no damage on a success, and only half on a failure. Your Sneak Attack also increases to 4d6.
8th Level Rogues get another Ability Score Improvement. Bump your Dexterity for better AC, damage, and initiative.
9th Level Inquisitive Rogues get Steady Eye, giving you advantage on Perception and Investigation checks if you use no more than half your movement that turn. Your Sneak Attack also increases to 5d6.
10th Level Rogues get another Ability Score Improvement. Keep bumping your Dexterity.
11th Level Rogues get Reliable Talent, meaning you cannot roll lower than a 10 on any skill you have Proficiency or Expertise with. Your Sneak Attack also increases to 6d6.
12th Level Rogues get our last Ability Score Improvement. Cap your Dexterity for more AC, damage, and initiative.
We’ll finish off the build with 2 Levels in Fighter. 1st Level Fighters can pick a Fighting Style, and Archery will add +2 to the attack rolls you make with Ranged weapons. You also get Second Wind, letting you heal 1d10+your Fighter level as a bonus action once per short or long rest to stay up in the fight.
Our Capstone is the 2nd Level of Fighter for Action Surge, letting you take an additional action once per rest.
Now that we’ve hit Level 20, let’s go over the strengths of this build. First, you are insanely good in social situations. You have Expertise in 6 Skills, and paired with Reliable Talent, your minimum for any Charisma check is a 28, along with Mantle of Whispers, making you a master at gathering intel and espionage. You also have solid damage thanks to Action Surge, Sneak Attack and Psychic Blades, letting you deal up to 11d6+10 damage in a single round, with Steady Aim to gain advantage. Lastly, you’re a really good support with Bardic Inspiration and useful crowd control spells.
For weaknesses, you are fairly squishy, sitting at 125 average HP. While you do have Evasion, Uncanny Dodge, range, and a decent 17 AC with Studded Leather, if you’re caught in the wrong situation, then you’re gonna go down easily. If you want more HP then can swap out either your INT or WIS scores for CON since you're gonna have Expertise in your INT and WIS skills. You’re also vulnerable to Strength saving throws, meaning you can easily be tossed around. Lastly, you have multiple features that require your bonus action, meaning you’ll have to pick and choose what to use each turn.
