FYI, this is a story COLLECTION. Lots of standalones technically. Breaking News tonight from the Apollo 11 memorial landing site, as Admiral Adam Vir and Captains Warren Richards and Mary Chavez were rescued from the Pacific Ocean, following a journey that was supposed to be historical, turned harrowing. Amy Grey comes to us this morning with the story.
Thank you Julie, it was only a week ago here on the historic Cape Canaveral launch site, that the reconstructed Saturn V rocket was launched by the UNSC International Space and Aeronautics Division on the two thousand and fifty first anniversary of the original Apollo 11 mission. On board The reconstructed rocket were astronauts Fleet Admiral Adam Vir, head of the UNSC deep space exploration division, Captain Warren Richards five year veteran and historical aeronautics expert, and Mary Chavez, six year shuttle pilot veteran, and communications specialist.
The reconstructed Saturn V rocket took off thirty minutes behind schedule at 10:03 GMT July 16 after delays attributed to engineering standbys. However, reports by UNSC investigation early this morning indicate that the delays were called for by engineering head Jade Clein who noticed something strange during her final checks of the Saturn V recreated rocket.
In an interview early today, flight director, Aaliyah Seif of the Apollo re-creation mission informed outlets that there was evidence of attempted tampering on the hull of the Saturn V rocket. The tampering case in the shape of these small silver tape strips covering loosened bolts along one of the Saturn V side panels. Engineers stated that the tape was not heat resistant and would have burned off in time to rattle the bolts loose and, likely, cause a devastating spin that would destroy the rocket.
While this attempted tampering was thwarted, the mission would only become more dire. A sudden and shocking report by Mericanda News 5 showed an uncut image of an unknown alien hybrid woman claiming that the UN President had ordered the attempted assassination of Admiral Vir, in conjunction with an audio recording by Admiral Colter Massie, Head of the Galactic intelligence division and known isolationist, that admitted to the attempted assassination of Admiral Vir, and the acquisition of twenty Thunderhawk’s, which were used to harry the Saturn V on its way to the moon. Admiral Kelly, longtime friend of Admiral Vir, corroborated the story, saying she caught General Massie just after he ordered the deployment of the twenty Thunderhawk’s. During their conversion, he attempted to kill her, before being detained by two members of Admiral Vir's crew, and was later seen being escorted into custody by Military Police.
Indeed, footage has been captured from the hull of the Saturn V, showing approximately twenty Thunderhawk’s attempting to destroy the rocket while Rundi remote piloted drones and an unknown group of what appear to be racing jets, fought back to delay the attack, while word was sent to the UNSC to deploy F-90 Darkfire pilots to assist. This all after communications between Houston and the rocket were sabotaged shortly after leaving orbit. The F-90 Darkfire pilots were able to arrive on time to rescue the rocket, though a hole was reportedly torn in the hull, sucking Admiral Vir out into space. Luckily, he was later recovered and returned to his ship without any injuries. Patch teams were then able to repair the torn hull and the astronauts completed their mission landing to crowds on the moon and returning to earth on time, landing in the Pacific Ocean only nine miles away from the waiting ship.
All three astronauts were recovered and are reported to be in good health.
The investigation into the UN president's involvement is still ongoing at this time, however preliminary reports from the Global Bureau of Investigation suggest evidence is both staggering and damning to the current UN president, who earlier today, attempted to cut all ties to the sabotage efforts, saying she was framed. Political experts report that, even assuming her innocence, she will likely not last to the end of her term.
International News Network was able to interview Admiral Vir shortly after his landing while still on board the rescuing ship UNSS Victory.
Here is what the Admiral had to say:
"I find it... Really very disheartening that someone we all trusted, and someone that we all should have looked up to could do something like this. It really is a heinous demonstration of what political corruption can lead people to do."
"And how do you feel, personally about all of this?"
"Personally, I... well to be honest I am hurt and appalled. Not to mention that I fear for the safety of my family and my friends. Every day I wonder if my involvement with them is going to get someone I love killed... The thought haunts me, but I hope after all of this is over I... and all of us can breathe a little easier."
"Were you scared?"
"I don't think that even needs to be a question. Of course I was scared, getting sucked out of your spaceship isn't ideal."
"What do you hope will happen now?"
"I hope that justice can be upheld to those who deserve it."
"What do you have to say to the UN president."

”So?”
"I have nothing to say. Wouldn't want to waste the air.”

What followed would be one of the largest scandals in recent political history. At some point an unknown number of classified government documents was leaked onto the internet, and after that it was all over for the Presidency. Thousands of enterprising humans, and aliens alike, viewed the documents to discover all the underhanded and dirty things which had been going on in the UN governmental body over the past few years. Forensic accounting experts (mostly Tesraki), uncovered plenty of fiscal tampering which shed light on plenty of isolationist related projects and bank accounts. There was even evidence that they had something to do with the original assassination attempt against Admiral Vir so many months ago. The drama had even managed to capture the attention of Rundi political experts and Vrul computer science geniuses, and together they unearthed a world of unfathomable, but not unexpected corruption. The process to remove the UN president from office was probably one of the fastest movements of human government ever seen by UN congressional leaders, who were likely trying their very best to distance themselves from association with the president, who despite not being the only one involved, had become the political scapegoat for everyone else that had a supposed link with isolationism.
Even the VP fell under suspicion and was watched closely for the rest of his term.
Admiral Massie and the UN President were placed under arrest and set up for court dates in the nearing future, though everyone saw a long and arduous litigation process ahead. Even Ramirez's family had filed for damages against the government after the news came to light, confirming that their son had been shot as collateral in one of the UN presidents plans to assassinate Admiral Vir. They settled out of court to the tune of an unknown, but impressive sum of money.
No one really knew how much, but a couple months later Ramirez's younger sister was seen training at one of the most prestigious Olympic academies on earth.
Ramirez himself was suddenly able to afford housing on the moon in a condo just next door to his best friend, though no one else inquired further.
The Rundi chairwoman came forward with her own investigation, admitting to being suspicious for a long time though she feared accusations without proper proof. Admiral Vir was seen having lunch with her not so many months after the events took place, suggesting that the trust between the two of them had not been completely dissolved. With much of the isolationist element gone from government, public policy began to lean heavily towards integration with the alliance. The occasional isolationist demonstration or protest was held, but none of them managed to gain traction.
Admiral Vir was finding himself more important than ever, though it was to his chagrin that his ship was grounded for the intervening months while the investigation continued.
No one was entirely sure what the future held.

Admiral Vir stepped into Admiral Kelly's office. The last time he had actually visited her here had been over a few years ago, before his promotion to captain of the Harbinger. It seemed so distant now, and he never expected to walk into her office with a star on his shoulder. She stood as he entered, and the two of them shook hands, ignoring all the stuffy formalities that usually come with the meeting of two military officers.
The wall behind her was decorated with a myriad of metals and awards she had received over her career, and he couldn't help but note the slight tinge of grey he could see forming in her hair. He knew that feeling, he was going prematurely white much to his chagrin. She stood and the two of them shook hands.
"Vir."
"Kelly."
She motioned him to sit, and he sat, sighing lightly as he had been on his feet all day consulting with political figures and other members of the UNSC.
"A strange couple months wouldn't you say?”
"Tell me about it."
Kelly reached under her desk and withdrew an amber bottle which she placed between them,
"I always forget; do you drink?"
"On occasion."
"Well consider this an occasion."
She said, popping off the top and pouring two glasses for them. She handed his across the desk and he leaned back in his seat cupping the cool glass in both hands.
She swirled the amber liquid around in her glass,
"So what are your plans after all this?”
He took a sip of water warmed by the burning liquid,
"Hoping things will go back to normal and I can go back to traveling the galaxy."
Kelly grunted,
"A simple man with simple motivations."
He laughed,
"Sometimes I think a stupid man with simple motivations."
She chuckled then grew serious,
"A lot of people make the mistake of assuming simple people don't have the intelligence to match. Some people assume that trusting means gullible means dumb. Just because we are trusting and expect others to do the right thing is not necessarily a fault. I believe there is a kind of beauty in assuming the fundamental goodness of humanity."
Admiral Vir shook his head,
"How can you after seeing what we have seen?”
"How can you not?"
She shrugged,
"We always knew that politicians were corrupt, but think about everything else we have seen."
Admiral Vir nodded slowly,
"The enthusiasm for the Apollo 11 recreation mission, the people who flew up to help us. All of those people who went digging through years of information just to uncover the truth."
She raised her glass,
"Precisely. Goodness in humanity is all around us, but we tend to overlook the good in favor of the bad."
She placed her hat on the desk and sighed,
"It is up to good people to keep their goodness going even when it might seem easier to give into the bad. I have and will always believe in the fundamental good of humanity. Some may call it naive, or even stupid. Others have said I have a romanticized view of a species that is fundamentally broken."
She turned her head to look out the window, a contemplative expression on her face before turning back to look at Adam.
"You understand me, I think."
He nodded slowly.
"People need to be believed in. You tell someone for long enough that they are fundamentally bad at their core and they will begin to believe you. For thousands of years pessimists have gotten it into our heads that we are no better than animals, worse even since animals don't fight in wars. But I believe that is wrong, I have seen people, I have met people, and I have interacted with people who prove to me that humanity cannot just be fundamentally bad or else these people wouldn't exist."
She tapped her nails against the glass,
"I think it is easier to corrupt purity than wash away a stain."
He listened quietly as she continued.
"Humans are born good, Adam, and life stains us. We aren't born stained while some of us are wiped clean."
She shook her head,
"Doesn't make sense to me."
She caught him with a look, pinning him to the spot with her intense stare,
"People like you convince me of this every day."
"Me!?..."
She held up a hand.
"Adam Vir, I am convinced that the best outcome this universe ever had, was when a happy go lucky science fiction freak was lucky enough to be the first man to meet aliens. Any other way things would have gone horribly wrong."
She leaned across her desk,
"The universe needs men and women like you, and not only that but the universe needs people who are going to support men and women like you."
She sat back,
"Which is why I have made a decision…"
He raised an eyebrow in curiosity, not entirely sure where this could be going.
She smiled,
"I have decided to run for UN President."
He nearly spit his mouthful of expensive scotch onto the table, but managed to choke it mostly down.
Eyes wide he set his glass down,
"Are you serious?”
She smiled,
"Seriously serious."
"Well shit, you have my vote for sure."
He raised his glass to her,
"I couldn't think of a better outcome."

As you saw in the title, this is a cross posted story written by starrfallknightrise and I'll just upload some of it here for you guys, if you are interested and want to read ahead, the original story-collection can be found on tumblr or wattpad to read for free. (Link also above this text). I have no affiliations to the author; just thought I’d share some of the great stories you might enjoy a lot!
Obviously, I have Charlie’s permission to post this and for the people already knowing the stories, or starting to read them: If you follow the link and check out the story you will see some differences. I made some small (non-artistic) changes, mainly correcting writing mistakes, pronoun correction and some small additional info here and there of things which were not thought of/forgotten or even were added/changed in later stories (like the “USS->UNSC” prefix of Stabby, Chalar=/->Sunny etc). As well as some "biggemajor" changes in descriptions and info’s for the same stringency/continuity reason. That can be explained by the story collection being, well a story collection at the start with many standalone-stories just starring the same people, but later on it gets more to a stringent storyline with backstories and throwbacks. (For example Adam Vir has some HEAVY scars over his body, following his bones, which were not really talked about up till half the collection, where it says it covers his whole body and you find out via backflash that he had them the whole time and how he got them, they just weren't mentioned before. However, I would think a doctor would at least see these scars before that, especially since he gets analyzed, treated and goes shirtless/in T-shirts in some stories). So TLDR: Writing and some descriptions are slightly changed, with full OK from the author, since he himself did not bother to correct these things before.

I posted this on the linux_on_mac subreddit a couple of days ago but didn't get any responses. Hoping to have better luck here.
I'm running Debian 12 (bookworm). I've been using this mbpfan package for years, starting it manually with sudo mbpfan, no issues. https://github.com/linux-on-mac/mbpfan/blob/masteREADME.md#debian
I've made previous attempts to get it to run at boot without luck. Now I'm trying again, and so started off by installing the most recent update:
Permissions show:

-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 35456 Oct 15 2022 /ussbin/mbpfan 

Although I can start it manually...

sudo mbpfan mbpfan 2.3.0 starting up 

I want it to run on boot. I created a systemd service file:

sudo nano /etc/systemd/system/mbpfan.service 

With the following content:

[Unit] Description=mbpfan daemon [Service] ExecStart=/ussbin/mbpfan Restart=always [Install] WantedBy=multi-user.target 

I saved the above and reloaded systemd:

sudo systemctl daemon-reload 

I enable the service:

sudo systemctl enable mbpfan.service Synchronizing state of mbpfan.service with SysV service script with /lib/systemd/systemd-sysv-install. Executing: /lib/systemd/systemd-sysv-install enable mbpfan 

I started the service:

sudo systemctl start mbpfan.service 

Checking the status of the service:

sudo systemctl status mbpfan.service 

I see multiple entries similar to:

There I note the messages about "A previously created .pid file exists at: /varun/mbpfan.pid. Aborting" in there and so...

sudo systemctl stop mbpfan.service sudo rm /varun/mbpfan.pid rm: cannot remove '/varun/mbpfan.pid': No such file or directory 

I'm guessing those are probably temp files being deleted by the system and so those error messages can probably can be ignored...?
I have ensured that both the coretemp and applesmc modules are available. In fact, I edited /etc/modules:

# /etc/modules: kernel modules to load at boot time. # # This file contains the names of kernel modules that should be loaded # at boot time, one per line. Lines beginning with "#" are ignored. firewire-sbp2 coretemp applesmc 

I can still start the mbpfan service manually but am having zero luck setting it up to run at boot.
LINUX is not Nirvana for me. The solution might be staring me right in the face (like maybe is there more than one version of mbpfan on my system?). Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

I do not know if you have the patience to read this review as it is over 1800 words, but I have tried my best to write it in a narrative of how the events happened. I just had to express how bad and sad I feel about this whole experience. Please do read it and help me find a solution.
I have a Lenovo Legion y740 I7 processor and RTX 2060 that I saved up for 3 years and bought for 150000 Rs in May 2020. I treated my laptop with all the love in the world, learning about all the laptop etiquette that is required to operate such a powerful machine. The laptop ran most games beautifully and I enjoyed every moment with it. I traded stocks, did my data analysis for my job, and kept a detailed plan for my future studies on my laptop. For around 4 years, all was good...
Until…
On Feb 1st, 2024, my laptop would not turn on and the next day (Feb 2nd) I rushed it to this Lenovo service center. I explained the problem and the first thing I was asked was if it was under warranty. It was not under warranty.
They explained that there could be an issue with the motherboard, and they would get back to me soon. So, I waited and waited and waited. There was no response. So I called them on Feb 5th, 2024, and asked them about my laptop, they asked me for another day, and then on 6thFeb, I got an Email (Screenshot attached), saying that I had two options, one was to get the motherboard replaced( which they told me would cost me about 60000 Rs) The other one is more interesting and cost-effective, it was the chip level repair option where they would replace the chip and ( as estimated in the email) would cost 5000rs to 7000rs and would take 25 to 35 days( remember this, it is important for what’s coming). I gave a thumbs up for the chip level repair on 6th Feb 2024.
On 26th March 2024, I sent them an email(screenshot attached) asking about the status as it had been over 50 days since I had given them my laptop. On 27th March 2024, they responded saying it is still under repair and the lab team has not responded to them, and that they’ll get back to me in a few days. I requested them to keep me updated in the process, and they said “Noted” (remember this, it too is important).
On 1st April 2024 (over 60 days now) I called them to enquire, and they gave me complete technical jargon about why the repairs were late, thinking I would not understand it, but guess what, I did understand it and realized that they are, for some reason, the people at their “Lab” where not able to find out why my laptop was not turning on.
On 2nd April, This is when I sent them a strongly worded mail. (screenshot attached). Expressing how they have wasted my time of 60 days and how I want a fully functional laptop and I am not willing to pay anything currently.
They did not respond to this email. So, I called them and they explained that there was something wrong with the CPU and that I must prepay for the part to be delivered to the center. It had been over 60 days, so I agreed to this repair.
After another Email exchange where I request the quotation of the price. On 4th April 2024, they sent me a quotation of 20284 Rs (Screenshot attached) and asked for another 4 to 6 weeks. I promptly make the payment, explain to them it’s my hard-earned money and do the repairs promptly.
Fast forward to 22nd April 2024, when I asked for an update, they replied saying it is still under observation in the lab.
On 29th, 30th April, and 2nd May, I sent three emails asking for an update about my laptop, but there was no response(please keep in mind that ‘noted’ part they said about updating me). On 3rd May, I got an email saying my laptop was not functional (screenshot attached), I called them, (By now it has been over 90 days), over a 23-minute call (I have all the calls recorded) …
They told me my laptop was still not functional and that I should take the refund of the 20284 Rs and collect the laptop and it is best if I just go. I don’t want that, my 90-plus days have value. My time and mental health have value!!! The anguish and anxiety I went through have to mean something, there has to be some result to my 90 days!!!
On that day, I rushed to the service center and had a word with the management where I clearly and strongly expressed my worries, concerns, and anger with the management and how they have caused me over 90 days of absolute mental anguish (this conversation took over an hour and a half). They blamed the lab, the engineer, parts delivery, and many more things when I confronted them.
Let’s get one thing clear, as a consumer who has paid 150000 Rs for the laptop and 20284 Rs for the part and repairs, do I have to understand the internal workings of a service center? Should I go talk to the engineer parts delivery personnel or the lab? Or should I as a consumer hold the service centre accountable for all the loss of time and money? Are the internal workings of a service center my problem? I’d say no, it’s not, so I do not want to hear why it is late, because whatever the reason is, it is not my problem. My time, effort, and money have been wasted.
After bantering for a long time, I simply requested a fully functional laptop or refund of 20284 and compensation for the 90+ days they wasted mine. For this, they asked for time till May 11th, 2024, to which I agreed, and asked them to not expect me to pay anything.
On 11th May 2024, AFTER OVER 100 DAYS, I got a call from the engineer saying my laptop works and asked for the password to check the functionality!!! Hurray !!! I leaped in joy and rushed to the service center. I sat down they turned on the laptop, I put in my password and the screen opened.
BUT………
As the laptop settled in, the fan speed increased and there was a rough noise from the fan, like the fan was rubbing against something as it turned, the sound was so loud that even the sound from the laptop speakers could not subdue it. I raised an issue immediately.
The facts – 1. They had my laptop for over 100 days.

1. The fan has an issue that was not present before I gave them the laptop.

So, I asked them to fix it, to which they surprisingly agreed. For the sake of documentation, I sent them an Email alerting them of the situation.
Ohh but it’s not over yet….
On 13th May 2024,
They sent an Email (screenshot attached) saying it was fixed and that I could collect it. So
So, on the 14th of May 2024, I am going to pick up my beloved laptop from the center. I carefully inspect it as per their instruction on their bulletin board AND I FOUND ANOTHER ISSUE. This time, when I used discrete graphics instead of switchable ones, MY SCREEN WOULD BE VERY DIM until connected to an external display and this was unacceptable after they claimed full functionality.
They took my laptop in for another inspection, and after 1 and a half hours, they came out saying it worked well on their testing SSD and suggested that I back up my data (which I did at that moment) and allow them a day to factory reset my laptop. For which I agreed, and they offered to deliver it to the next day. The laptop works fine except for this software issue and I was in high hopes that it would be delivered fine.
The next day, 15th May 2024, I got an email saying my laptop was to be delivered to my workplace, which is only 20 minutes away from the service center. And I get a call and go pick up my laptop around 1:40 pm. I let it rest at my desk and around 4: 45pm, after all my meetings, I open my laptop.
AND GUESS WHAT FOLKS….
The moment I opened the laptop I found that the hinge was damaged, the laptop had not been reassembled properly, the sides were loose, and the hinge was damaged to the point where the display on the right side of the laptop was …POPPING OUT.
My blood boiled, I immediately called the service center and told them about this, but they responded very insensitively. I rushed my laptop to the service center.
On the verge of tears, I explained everything, and the manager Rashid Khan, and Engineer Prasad Reddy were just saying the same thing over and over again- about how they deliver many laptops every day and most have never had such an issue. They need time till Friday 17th May 2024 to give me a course of action for this issue, about how they need to check the CCTVs at their service center to see if this was caused by the internal team.
But here are the facts,
My laptop has been in the care of the service center for over 100 days.
On 15th May 2024, it was delivered at around 1:40 pm.
On 15th May 2024, at around 4:45 pm when I opened it, I found that the hinge and display were damaged.
I reluctantly agreed and sent them an email to keep things documented.
Now I sit and write this with a heavy heart and tears in my eyes. I do not want to be experiencing this. I just want my laptop back in a fully functional condition.
Here are what mistakes the Service center made according to me :

1. They asked for 25 to 35 days and did not inform me until I emailed them 50 days later.
2. There was absolutely no communication from their side about my laptop’s condition even after they ‘Noted’ my request. They kept me on hold for a long time or simply did not respond to my calls.
3. If they had not diagnosed the problem by day 35, they should have informed me and I would have taken it elsewhere, it is because they are the official Lenovo service center that I trusted them in the first place.
4. Even after repairs, they did not check ‘Full functionality’ and yet claimed the laptop was okay.
5. I had to go to the center and diagnose my laptop because they kept overseeing everything.

Hello again. This will probably be my last post for a while!
He (31M) called it off, like he said he would, with his partner of 8 years. Seems pretty ok with it, accepted that it needed to happen and it was for the best, feels bad that he dragged me into it but ultimately feels like a weight has been lifted off his shoulders and he’s back to himself really. It’s quite nice as he’s now like who he was when we first met, fun, outgoing, caring etc rather than the closed off version of him he was when he was trying to sort it all out. Has a plan in place for weaning her off financial support, which will be going on for the next few months at least. He’s also said that it didn’t end amicably like he would’ve wanted, they’re in NC and some things were brought up and said from both sides. I do wonder if she found out about us, but I haven’t asked specifics because it’s not my business, I just needed to know if it was over for good or not, which it is.
We spent the week together last week. He stayed at mine for a few days, did some DIY for me at my house (I helped where I could), met some of my friends and then I went to his. It was awesome. He was so affectionate, finally didn’t have to keep it a secret, he had no problems showing me his life at home and some of his friends, cooked for me every day, holding my hand, kissing me, saying he loves me in public. It felt so freeing as we’ve had to hide it to when it’s just us together for 4 months.
So we’ve now both agreed that we’re seeing each other exclusively. He doesn’t want to “play the field”, despite just coming out of an 8 year relationship. He sees it going somewhere with me. I just want to see how it goes being opposite sides of the world for 5 weeks with limited contact due to work, and also how the long distance works as we live 5.5 hours away from each other, before going the whole hog and putting bf/gf labels on it, even though I understand that this is technically a relationship as it is now. I actually don’t mind the distance and I like that he’s not just there, if that makes sense. It makes me miss him and get more excited for when I do see him. I’ve not had this dynamic before, previous relationships I’ve seen almost all the time and it ended up really grating on me because I felt like I had no space. He makes time for me, face times me whenever he can, sends me voice notes saying he loves me when he’s with his friends etc, leaves social situations a bit earlier so he can ring me before bed etc, sends gifts in the post... it’s a different dynamic when he’s working, he’s not as available due to the nature of his job but he still maintains decent contact as a result of me expressing that I can’t do one text a day like he did with his ex, and he asked for me to give him a chance to change that behaviour and he has really been making an effort. Obviously, he brought up that it can’t go on like this forever, which I know, but it works for now and I have said I would be willing to move north eventually (I’m from the north anyway) but just want a year or so minimum to carry on with how my life is now. He understands that and also that I’m happy to do the 11 hour round drive for the foreseeable as it makes more sense than him coming south.
This is exactly what I wanted. Why do I feel this overwhelming sense of anxiety and the feeling I’m being taken for a fool? It’s like I think this is too good to be true so I’m waiting for something to go wrong. I don’t know why I feel like this. I notice he’s making a conscious effort to make communication more consistent, he gets me gifts, fixes things for me, arranges seeing each other, comes up with ideas for dates for when we do see each other etc etc. I think it’s very clear he means it when he says he loves me, and I can absolutely see it working, but for some reason I just am waiting for it to go wrong. I don’t know if it’s the relatively quick shift from having to keep everything secret to now not caring who sees and it being quite obvious that we’re dating? I also think he’ll get bored of me when I’m working on the other side of the world, even though he says he won’t and is already sorting his work schedule for when I can stay there as soon as I’m back in mid August. Also says that as long as we keep each other posted throughout the days so the other has messages to wake up to, send pictures and videos, the time difference shouldn’t matter too much, and some days one of us will be able to stay up late/get up earlier so we can video call. He’s also on a tour whilst I’m away, weekends will be difficult to communicate for us both as it’s weekend work, but the week days should be easier. He doesn’t think it will be a problem but I can’t shake it. I’m going to ruin it before I’ve even given it a real chance if I keep this mindset.

Married going on 13 years we are both 35. It’s was a rough start so many layers I could write a book. She left her ex for me back when we were 18/19. Fast forward we getting a divorce (not my choice) and she went back to him. She said they reconnected and he is a safe space. I admit I wasn’t the best emotionally, I grew up in a cold house (emotionally) so being openly affectionate is tough. But it’s not impossible. When we first met I was all the things she wanted then I was asked to change and be more aggressive. I eventually took on that persona now it doesn’t work anymore she wants what I was before. Ironically her ex is now the sweet caring and supportive one she claims she feels like a baby with him.
She told me they reconnect on cinco de mayo weekend they had sex twice in one day. She claims he made her squirt something I tried many times. But apparently I just wasn’t it for her. I feel like she used me. For the stability I changed her life. She met with nothing but I wasn’t a street guy he was/ is. There is so much I’m not saying because it so much to write but it just sucks that I feel like a placeholder while he grew up and matured to be better.
I have my ways yes I’m not as nice as I once was my tone of voice is usually laced with impatience. She is very masculine in her approach to things and I told her we clash because you don’t respect me. You turn to a completely different person with him because you respect him and giving his stature you feel small. I’m a lean guy she is on the thicker side. Her ex is stocky but they are the same height I’m 5’10 they are both 5’6. What bothers me the most is we are separated but legally still married. She asked for the divorce but has not gone to file for it. We have two kids, and a business together. He has 5 kids and 3 baby mommas.
She claims she doesn’t want to be married anymore to anyone because it comes with expectations of a wife which she doesn’t like. She said she would rather be someone’s girlfriend for the rest of her life, she doesn’t want any man to have any actual claim. She is super loyal to him every time I try to talk to her she stone walls me and says things like “that’s a bit inappropriate don’t you think”, “I have to set some boundaries here”, “I don’t have to tell you anything”. She is a completely different person, all the feline things I asked her to do all these years she does them without thinking to hard.
I’m pissed because when she was with me she was complacent now she with him she extra sexy and femine. Down to the tone of her voice and mannerism. Some people say it’s my fault I didn’t make her feel like a woman but I say she didn’t do anything to warrant that response either. I should not have to stop in the middle of sex to go get a wipe and clean your ass for you because you left poop in there or you didn’t wipe your ass at all after using the bathroom. Or I shouldn’t walk in the bathroom after you and see a toilet full of piss, poop and sometimes period blood. Not to mention many times she’s come around me wanting to hug me but is musty as hell. Wanting me to gos down on her but smelling wild. Saying she want me to touch her below the belt more often but not take care of herself in general. Now that we are not together alllllllll of that is checked and changed.
You wanna give me the worst attitude and a dirty body but give him a mature well manicured version. I’m just ranting at this point and the situation is so complex but I feel like just disappearing for a while but I can’t because of the children.

Since every other post here is about the challenges of finding a job, I thought I would share what has worked for me recently:

• Record a short video about your experience with Loom and include it on your CV. Don't just read your CV, but add a little "color" and personality about who you are, what you are good at and what makes you different from other candidates. This will help you stand out and show a bit of personality.
  
• Prepare better for interviews by asking yourself who they sell to, how they differentiate themselves from the competition, and prepare a 30-second pitch. Make sure to read at least two case studies before the first call with a recruiter.
  
• Check out their YouTube page. Every company has a couple of video case studies and summary video on YouTube, so this great for quickly gaining an understanding of the company.
  
• When someone asks you how you would do outbound, share your screen with a presentation that documents in detail how you create and run a campaign.
  
• Also prepare a slide with your plan for the first 30 / 60 / 90 / 180 days and how you would make sure to get up to speed as quickly as possible.
  
• You know how companies have "logo soups" where they present logos of customers? Make one for yourself! Think of all the deals you were involved with and put them on slide. Takes 10 minutes to make, but makes a great impression. Make sure you can tell a good story when you are asked to describe a deal in more detail.
  

Let's say you make it to the case study stage. In my experience, there are three types of case study.

1. Qualification call: The company wants you to run a mock qualification call. Here is how you do well in these. First, make sure to ask many questions. Companies pick this scenario because they don't expect you to pitch, but they want to see if you can ask many good questions. Use frameworks like SPIN or SPICED to come up with questions. DO NOT PITCH. One way to screw up this type of case study is by pitching too early or by pitching at all. Your goal here qualify and book another appointment where you promise to demo the product with their goals in mind. Side notes: Make sure to prepare a decent introduction so that the call starts off smoothly. Your biggest focus must be on the impact questions. You must understand the business impact and the personal pain of your prospect. Also check for timeline, budget, and decision-making process. Don't worry about asking too many questions. Nobody ever failed a mock qualification call by asking too many questions. EDIT: A common trap that companies set at this stage is asking you a technical question to see if you take the bait and give a technical answer. If you get a technical question, say "We will discuss the details of our solution during our next call, but I will make a note of this, so I remember to address it. Is that OK with you?"
2. Demo call: The company wants you to do a mock demo. Make sure they don't want you to do any qualification beforehand, because usually, they do. Don't worry about getting all the details of the product right, but be ready to say "I don't know" if you get a detailed question. Companies don't want you to lie about features. If they give you trial access to the product, great. If not, take screenshots of the website and present them in a slide deck. Crucial: Always end the demo on concrete next steps, even if you have to force it. Companies want to see you understand the importance of next steps. Super important: Use case studies from the website in your demo if it makes sense. Companies love it when you do research and when you notice a case studies that fits your mock scenario.
3. Go to markets plan and / or 30 / 60 / 90 / 180 day plan. The company wants you to prepare a go-to-market plan. After doing your research, you probably have an understanding what industry and persona they sell to. Come up with a mock cold email (rewrite one from your last job) and write a mock cold call script. In your onboarding plan, put a focus on learning the product, understanding the market and targeting an industry for outreach. Do not mention anything about inbound. Companies are looking for hunters, and anyone who relies too much on inbound will be disqualified. Nobody ever lost a sales job by focusing too much on outbound.

This post is kind of a continuation of previous one about the lost Team Fortress Classic Beta, which, to my surprise, was found (thanks to u/Admirable-Diver3176). There already mentioned that Valve had another similar incident, that happened in 2000. Specifically, I am referring to Robin Walker's answer from the IRC chat/interview with fans, which was posted on the PlanetFortress website. There were speculations that this was about a canceled game called "Team Fortress 2: Brotherhood of Arms", but I don't think that's true, at least I haven't found any confirmation of it. However, I think I have found out what it really was about.
We can assume that chat took place around May 31st, 2000. At that time, Valve was conducting a closed beta test for the long-awaited major update to Half-Life. From May 25th onwards, several messages appeared in newsgroups about the files with updates for Half-Life, Team Fortress Classic and new version of Counter-Strike has been leaked. There was also one message that revealing the background behind this incident, which seems to be what NextWish and Walker were referring to.
These files were available online, and I even found a video where someone played that particular CS version (the author of the video no longer has it). As you may have guessed, these files have been lost too. We're talking about these two files in particular:

• 10161100.EXE ( 20.5 MB ) (Release: 21.73 MB) - Half-Life update from v1.0.1.6 to v1.1.0.0 incl. TFC 1.5
• cstrike65.zip or csb65full.zip* ( 52.4 MB ) (Release: 55.42 MB) - early Counter-Strike Beta 6.5 Build

As you can see, I compared the size of the old files and those that were officially released on June 8th, 2000. They have the same filenames but the file size is different. This, as well as the fact that the patch was delayed due to bug was found, suggests that those files were different from those that we have now.

Hello all. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Approximately a month and a half ago, I started experiencing some concerning GI symptoms which were mainly attributed to stress at the time due to what I had going on... I definitely did have an increase in stress at that time. Ultrasounds were done which showed a complex ovarian cyst and a small, simple liver cyst. I cannot get in to my GI specialist until July 22nd. So at that time, a physician that I worked with said I probably had gastritis and silent GERD and recommended Nexium 20mg twice a day. I started that on 4/19. Within 4-5 days I noticed my heart rate becoming elevated considerably over what it typically is when I lift weights in the morning. For reference, I am a 38 year old female and I have routinely done work outs 5 days a week for the past ten years. My heart rate when weight lifting is typically 90's to MAYBE 110 at the highest. My heart rate was leaping into the 120's-130's. No chest pain. Just increased fatigue. Heart rhythm did not feel irregular (I am a nurse, so I can thankfully tell that when manually checking my pulse). I reached out to the physician who advised that I take the Nexium and he told me that he did not think the Nexium was causing my issues. So I continued to take it as he advised until completion on 05/03. Last week, I noticed my heart rate was elevated at 105 when I first got up from bed in the morning. Just standing at the sink and washing my face, it would be like 112. So I called and had a telehealth visit with my personal physician (who also had recommended I take "Prilosec or something for a little while"). I told her what was going on. She told me that "rapid heart rate is one of the more serious side effects of Nexium and it should have been discontinued when you noticed it." I was referred to a cardiologist but they are booked until 06/13. This week, my heart rate has been more normal in the mornings when I first get up (typically 80's) but when I exercise, my heart rate still spikes above my normal. This morning it jumped up to 137 but then when I stood still, it quickly dropped to 101. When I do my 3 mile walk in the afternoons/evenings, my heart rate is typically in the 90's. My resting heart rate is usually 60's-70's and has remained so throughout the day for the most part. It just seems elevated in the mornings, mainly, and in the evenings sometimes after a larger meal. I would think if the problem was the Nexium, it would certainly be out of my system by now. This is just all very odd and concerning to me. I am here to vent, request advice, and hopefully connect with someone else who can relate and perhaps help ease my anxiety while I wait a month for that cardiology appointment. I will say I received a clean bill of health in February, lab work was PERFECT, and I do not have any known health conditions outside of IBS and now possibly silent GERD I guess. I do not take medications outside of: 1. A multivitamin daily, 2. Align probiotic daily, 3. Enzymedica Digest Gold + ATPro, Maximum Strength twice a day before breakfast and dinner. 4. Natural Flow 4X Magnesium Supplement, Magnesium Taurate, Glycinate, Malate, Orotate Complex, Calm Sleep and Cramp Support Blend, No Mag Citrate or Oxide - two capsules with dinner. I started taking the Magnesium as a precaution because Nexium can deplete it over time.

In 2021, I experienced 2 menstrual hemorrhages. On September 5, I went to the hospital to get the physical examination report card. The doctor told me my illness was very serious. The report card showed that my platelets were only 13×10^9/L (simplified to 13, as below), while the normal level is 100-300. The doctor told me to call my husband and ask him to take me to the city hospital. My husband didn't believe it. He thought something might be wrong with the test. Thus, I didn't travel to the city hospital that day.
In the restaurant the next day, when I sat down on the chair, I felt dizzy! I hurriedly let my husband take me to the hospital. According to various aspects of the examination, such as bone penetration and chest bone penetration, the condition is aplastic anemia. By then, I really didn't know how severe this illness is. I thought I did not eat things indiscriminately. I should be full of positive energy and not get sick. At the time, I did not know how stupid and ignorant I was. I had many ignorant habits, such as staying up late at night, bursting into anger, sexual misconduct, and abortions. If I didn't study Buddhism, I would never realize how heavy and deep my karmic obstacles are!
I had a gynecological problem for a long time, but I hadn't been to the hospital, and I was afraid to go to the hospital. It's more likely to happen if you are afraid of something happening. I regret not checking the body timely. Two years ago I dreamed of my deceased aunt and 2 children next to her. Pointing to my gynecology, my aunt said cancer. As I did not encounter Buddhism at that time, I did not understand that it was a great calamity. After waking up I felt scared. Then, I thought it was just a dream, and did not pay attention to it.
My karma broke 2 years late, as the dream predicted. I received 8-10 days of hospital treatment. We asked to be discharged because the cost was too high. I went to our county hospital. A doctor with glasses told me to have a bone marrow transplant. My father-in-law and father did not believe my disease was so serious, and neither did I. I was only a bit older than 30 years old, so I could not have such a severe disease. We travelled to a city hospital for treatment. The doctor told me that I would need a bone marrow transplant. That's when I realized this disease's seriousness!
Master Lu enlightened us to pay attention to the premonitory dream. Otherwise, it would be too late to regret. At that time, I had not encountered the Buddha's teachings, so I knew nothing about these principles. A bone marrow transplant was a bolt out of the blue for us! It cost hundreds of thousands of CNY. Our family was poor, so we couldn't afford it! During that time in the hospital, I was so scared that I couldn't eat or sleep. I also had chronic insomnia. One of the two cancer patients sleeping next to me was in pain every day and relied on painkillers to stop the pain, which was really agonizing. The other cancer patient was in her 70s and afraid of death. Without the Buddha's teachings, sentient beings can only follow their destiny. Although they do not want to die they have to die.
The hospital environment makes me not want to stay for a moment. They are all serious illnesses, such as cancer. I fear thinking about it. I requested discharge from the hospital after >10 days of treatment. I requested to take medication at home and follow a conservative approach to my health. So, I was discharged home.
The other morning, while I exercised at home, I suddenly felt weak. Just in time, my father-in-law arrived. I hurriedly asked him to take me to the clinic. I was too weak to move, so he carried me downstairs.
One night, I read a post on the Internet that a person with a blood disease did not undergo a bone marrow transplant. That person was treated in a specialized Chinese and Western medicine hospital and the low platelet level became normal. So, I contacted the doctor right away and registered for an appointment. My husband immediately booked a sleeper ticket to the hospital for the next day. The fear that I might not wake up after sleeping kept me from sleeping that night. After a few days of hospital treatment, platelets still didn't increase. This worries me a lot. What should I do? Until then, I realized that my disease could not be controlled by medication at all.
In the meantime, I was blessed by the Bodhisattva to see an online video of Master Lu reading a totem posted by a Buddhist practitioner. Since then, I have understood that sexual misconduct and abortion create heavy karma. My gratitude goes out to Bodhisattva's mercy for letting me encounter karma. So I promptly used the three Gems of Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door to treat my disease. I made 2 vows: become a vegetarian for life, and release 2,000 fish after discharge from the hospital.
Just after making the vows, my appetite increased greatly. Actually, in the hospital, the happiest thing for me is to eat. Half a month later I returned home from the hospital. The Buddhist practitioner sent me Buddhist materials. I recited Buddhist scriptures daily. Approximately 10 days later, I returned to the hospital to check. My platelets rose from 13 to 27. A month later, my platelets increased from 27 to 50. During my third check, my platelets rose from 50 to 107. Normal platelet levels are 100-300, so my platelet level is back to normal.
I was so happy, and blessed by the Bodhisattva! I had tears in my eyes at that time. Although there were still abnormal indicators, such as anemia, after all, it had only been a few months since I encountered the Buddha's teachings. Later, my platelet index reached 127.
There was a period of slackness in my cultivation: I could not finish reciting 3 Little Houses within 2 days; did not want to get up in the morning; did not vow the number of Little Houses to my karmic creditors; and my vow was not powerful enough. These resulted in the two dream exams being flunked, leading to 3 or 4 indicators of abnormality.
Hence, my fellow Buddhist practitioners, please take me as a warning, and strive to cultivate our minds, recite Buddhist scriptures diligently, devote ourselves to one Buddhist practice, and never quit!
Now I sincerely make 10 vows to Guan Yin Bodhisattva:

1. Be a vegetarian all my life;
   
2. Do not kill beings all my life;
   
3. Release life according to conditions all my life;
   
4. Respect my Master and His Buddhist teachings, be one of the hands and eyes of Guan Yin Bodhisattva, and never quit;
   
5. Study Buddhism in Plain Terms all my life;
   
6. Convince sentient beings to practice Buddhism using my experiences, propagate Buddhism, and transform the right ones extensively;
   
7. Recite 1,000 Little Houses to my karmic creditors in 2022;
   
8. Read Buddhism in Plain Terms 1,000 chapters in 2022;
   
9. Release 3,000 fish in 2022;
   
10. Attend the group study of Buddhism in Plain Terms 100 sessions in 2022.

我在2021年经历两次经期大出血，9月5日那天去医院拿检查身体报告单，医生跟我说，我的病很严重，当时报告单显示我的血小板只有13，正常人为100到300，医生叫我打电话给我先生，让我老公陪我去市医院。当时先生不相信，以为检查出了问题，当天就没有去医院。
第二天上饭店吃饭，刚坐下来头发晕，不好了！我赶紧让先生打车上医院，医生看了单子就进行了各方面检查，骨穿，做胸部骨穿，检查结果出来确定是再生障碍性贫血，当时真不知道这个病的严重性，一直还认为自己没有乱吃东西，还觉得自己正能量满满，不会生病，当时真不知道自己有多愚痴无明，有很多的无明习气，熬夜，爆脾气，邪淫，打胎。不学佛不知道，学佛后才知道业障深重啊！
一直以来我妇科不好，也没有去医院，也很怕去医院，真是怕什么来什么。真是后悔没有及时检查身体，也正如在两年前一个晚上做梦，梦见我去世的阿姨和旁边两个小孩，阿姨针对我妇科说癌症，当时没有学佛不知道自己有劫，醒来也有些害怕，只是觉得只是一个梦而已，就没有重视。就这样两年后业障爆发，就这样在医院进行了八到十天治疗，我们要求出院了，因为费用太高，不得不出院.回到家后，去我们县医院，一个带眼镜的医生跟我说要做骨髓移植，公公和爸爸都不相信，我也不相信，这么年轻三十几岁不可能得这么严重的病。于是我们上市医院进行了治疗，医院跟我说确定要做骨髓移植，这时才了解这个病的严重性！
师父说一定要重视预示梦，不重视后悔来不及，当时没有闻到佛法哪里懂师父说的这些道理。做骨髓移植对我们来说晴天霹雳！要几十万，我们家穷，哪里有那么多钱！在医院那段时间吓得吃不下、睡不着，我也有着长期的失眠症，睡在旁边的两个癌症病人，其中一个每天身体疼痛，靠止痛药才能止痛，真是痛苦不堪，一个癌症病人七十多岁了，也害怕死亡。没有闻到佛法，只能随命运走，不想走也得走，只有闻到佛法才有办法。
在医院经过了十几天的治疗，我要求出院回家吃药，保守治疗，医院那个环境一刻也不想待，全是重症，癌症，想想都恐惧，于是我出院了回到家中。
有一天清晨我在锻炼身体，突然浑身无力，正好公公回来了，我赶紧叫他带我上诊所，当时连下楼都是公公背下楼的。一天晚上我在网上看到一位朋友血液病没有做骨髓移植，经过一家专科中西医结合医院让自己的低血小板恢复到正常了。于是，我赶紧按上面的联系方式联系到了医生，挂号预约，老公回来立马订了第二天的去医院的卧铺票。当天晚上我就没有睡，我怕我没有这个福气，怕睡着了醒不过来了。到了医院治疗了几天，血小板还是没有上来，这下可愁死我了，该怎么办？这个时候我才知道我的这个病靠药物根本控制不了的。
就在这时，菩萨保佑我，让我看到一位师兄在网上发的师父图腾的视频，看了才明白是自己邪淫、打胎孩子的业障病，菩萨慈悲保佑让业障深重的我闻到了佛法。于是我就运用心灵法门“三大法宝”，立马许愿吃素，出院放生2000条鱼，刚许下愿吃素，发现胃口大增，在医院最让我开心的事情就是吃饭。住了半个月回到家中，师兄给我寄来了心灵法门的佛学资料，就做起了功课。大概念了十来天时间去医院检查，血小板从十几上升到了27了，接着又念了一个月，第二次检查血小板从27上升到50了，第三次检查由50上升到了107，正常人100到300，已经正常了。
好开心，菩萨保佑！我当时眼泪都掉下来，虽然当时还有指标不正常，有些贫血，但是毕竟才闻到佛法几个月时间。后来我的血小板指标达到127。中间有段时间懈怠，两天念三张小房子还念不动，早上还爬不起来，迟迟不敢许愿给自己要经者小房子的数量，愿力不够，两次梦境考试不及格，导致三四个指标不正常，所以师兄们，要以我为戒，努力修心，念经，一门精进，永不退转！
现在我真诚地向观世音菩萨许愿：
第一，终生吃素；第二，终生不杀生；第三，终生随缘放生；第四，尊师重道，做观世音菩萨的千手千眼，永不退转；第五，终生学习《白话佛法》；第六，终生现身说法，弘扬佛法，广度有缘人；第七，2022年一年内念诵1000张小房子给自己要经者；第八，2022年一年内读《白话佛法》1000遍；第九，2022年一年内放生3000条鱼；第十，：2022年一年内共修精进学习《白话佛法》100场。

I dont want to play all Nobz/Meganobz but have a somewhat competitive list. I love my Squigs but they dont really deliver for their cost since Codex release, Not even in their own Detachment.
So BullyBoyz Detachment works great for any list in my opinion due to the 2 Turns of Waagh! I cut out 1 Squad of Squigs and 1 Beastboss on Squigosaur to fit in 5 Nobz with Warboss and Trukk. Now im left with 100Pts. Ive got 3 Deffkoptas but I cant see anything useful they do that Stormboyz cant. So Im thinking about a Squigbuggy but it feels too expensive for what it does. The list including 2 Squig Squads with Bosses played well on a Tournament last Weekend but the Squigs did not deliver the cost and I dont want to go all Nobz/Meganobz. Any ideas?
The Squigs got too big of a footprint with how the unit composition works now. So they get blasted by everything at range as you cant hide them anymore. Obviously they got Rogal Dorned as I played a match against Astra.

Long version:
I am short before reaching my goal weight. Male, 1.85, 79kg. Since I started the current weight loss phase mid February (after an interruption and weight gain due to sickness and bad weather from September) I increased my activity level again and have a rather easy time losing weight.
For those wondering the numbers: 4/week gym (no cardio, just weights), going everywhere by bike (including gym, dancing, inner city, some recreational bike tours), recreational walks and daily groceries shopping in the lunch break, social dancing 3-6 days/week, active on the dance floor between 30 and 120 minutes each time.
I developed a stable diet of 2 main courses (~700kcal each) and 3-5 snacks (100-300 kcal each), high in proteins (>150g/day).
I was wondering why I actually lose weight so easily (and instantly gain in holidays, when I snack all the time and don't cook myself) so I put the numbers in a calculator and it gave me 3386 kcal per day.
I had estimated my need at ~2500kcal/day with 3000ish on high activity days (extra bike tour for example).
So I took simpler TDEE calculators and they reached the calculated number at "hard physical labor" or "athlete" level. For 20% body fat (still a small belly, it's not for long that I do intensive weights training reliably):

Soon it's time to adapt my diet to a weight stabilizing one, supporting muscle gain and if that's successful even a weight gaining one. That's why I want to get a better understanding of the numbers.
What's my exercise level?
Am I really an "athlete" level (TDEE calculator comments that with 2/day, while Heavy Exercise is 6-7 days per week).
I always learned, that you loose weight in the kitchen (and shape your body in the gym). But those numbers say that my activity level makes a difference of 1-1.5 kg/week compared to sedentary. Really?

I saw a post on the Hulk not long ago, and it inspired me to rant.
Okay, so it's not exactly a hot take to say that the Hulk was done dirty in the MCU. Despite Infinity War and Endgame being peak Marvel in the eyes of many, this is definitely the character who people had the most complaints about.
The biggest reason for this is that Hulk was not in these movies. His character had already "died", before any of us had realised it. The most frustrating part about this is that there was such a clear and well written path that the writers could have taken in order to make the Hulk's conclusion feel not only satisfying, but outright iconic.
But first, let's go over what happened as a refresher for those who have forgotten. After being absent from the MCU since Age of Ultron, the Hulk makes a surprise (probably not that surprising tbh) reappearance on Sakaar in Thor Ragnarok. It's revealed that he's been in Hulk mode for years and, for Banner, Ultron was only mere moments ago.
Hulk's performance in Ragnarok was pretty good. He fought Thor, and though he definitely would have lost, he proved that he was still a powerhouse. He then faces Hela's wolf (I think this is meant to be Fenrir but it doesn't look like it so I'm just gonna call it wolf), killing it by punching it off a waterfall. He then staggers Surtur in one blow, which is by far his most impressive feat, even if it was just meant for a bit of comedy.
Now Hulk/Banner is returning to Earth with Thor, and the movie ends with Thanos' ship looming over the Asgardians. The hype for Infinity War has never been higher. So what happens now?
Well, Hulk immediately gets destroyed in a fistfight by Thanos, who wasn't even using his stones. That's a bit of an L, sure, but a pretty good way to hype up Thanos in all honesty. Given that he's been anticipated for over 5 years, and yet hadn't even left his chair until now, it makes sense that he'd need to beat up someone strong in order to establish how powerful he is. It may have come at the expense of the Hulk, but this is not the problem in the slightest. Thanks to Heimdall, Banner lives to see another day.
What if I told you that that was the Hulk's conclusion? His final scene. After being gone for so long, he beats up a wolf and is effectively dead for the remainder of the MCU. Yeah, you'd think I was crazy. But other than a couple rebellious moments where he doesn't take over for Banner, that's the last we see of him. The Hulk is gone.
In Avengers Endgame, Banner effectively kills the remnants of the Hulk by fusing them with himself. As the brains, he's the one that takes control. This isn't really immoral because Hulk is kinda just an alter ego of Banner. I think that's how we're meant to see it anyway. But the second Professor Hulk showed up onscreen, that confirmed that the Hulk we'd grown to love was dead.
I don't have a problem with the directors killing off Hulk. They killed Natasha. They killed Tony. Steve seems to be dead. Hawkeye is trying to retire. Other than Thor, who is a god, everyone else is passing on their mantle to the next generation. They don't want to fight anymore. I can understand the decision to remove Hulk from the story in order to allow his son to get some spotlight. But that doesn't make this writing good. This is actively one of the worst ways to kill a fan favourite character that I have ever seen. It's like the directors were trying to have bad writing.
And there was such a painfully obvious way to do this right. In fact, it fits in so well into the story that 99% of us probably thought this was what the directors were alluding towards. For Hulk to go out on his own terms after one final Hulk out moment.
It all makes so much sense. Banner tried multiple times to bring out Hulk in Infinity War, and it never happened. There was even a climactic moment in the Hulkbuster suit where it seemed like Hulk was about to burst out of it, and yet he refused again (this was the last sighting of Hulk entirely). After being beaten up by Thanos, Hulk seems to be hesitating to fight. PTSD? Some other kind of trauma? Who knows? After all, it was never explained.
Hulk's character change in Infinity War is the greatest change a single character has ever had over the span of one movie, in my opinion. It is entirely out of character for the Hulk to shy away from battle. That's why it felt like this was meant to be buildup to something great.
Picture this. All hope seems lost during the final battle of Endgame. Thanos has defeated Captain Marvel, and there's no one left to stand between him and his goal. And then, suddenly, the Hulk jumps onto the scene. He manages to get the gauntlet off Thanos, and from there they rematch. This is a younger Thanos. A weaker Thanos, perhaps. But more importantly, a Thanos who has no idea what kind of monster has just come after him.
Perhaps the Hulk made a deal with Banner upon seeing Thanos again after 5 years. He'll disappear forever, and in exchange he will draw upon all the potential power he'd have used in those future years. He becomes bigger, like the 2003 Hulk. I'm sure there's a comic book we can reference here, but I'm not too familiar. The most powerful version of Hulk appears to defeat Thanos before disappearing forever.
After this, we can let a few more clashes happen before Tony's final sacrifice. But this is the equivalent of Cap wielding Mjolnor. Or Wanda's rage moment. For the Hulk, this would be the conclusion to his character. A final smash that would remind us all who he is.
Tony Stark was the only casualty in the final battle of Endgame, which means a lot of focus was on him in the aftermath. If Hulk "died", there'd be a risk that it would take away from Tony's moment. But I think we can all agree that this is better than just subtly offscreening him.
This was such an obvious way to go about his final arc, so maybe that's why they didn't do it. Everyone would have seen it coming. But not all expectations are supposed to be subverted. This kind of scene would be a satisfactory end to one of the most iconic faces in Marvel history.
TLDR: Hulk was an enormous missed opportunity.
