Hi, a couple months ago I got accepted by Humber College in Toronto. I applied for the study visa and got approved and I recently got my passport back with the visa on it. I am planning to go to Canada around August, but today I got accepted by Algonquin College in Ottawa (my college of preference).
I want to change from Humber to Algonquin, I know I can either do it before or after I land in Canada. But if I do it before I have to apply for a new study visa and it's too much of a hassle, so my question is if I apply for a college transfer after I land in Canada, can I do it before I start classes in Humber or do I need to attend first couple days in Humber then apply for the web form? Also, do I have to wait until IRCC approves my web form or do I just apply and go to Algonquin?

In two days, he'll come to my house and we're making baked Mac n cheese together for a school event the following day and I'll also be showing him how to make pastelillos.
I think I want to confess to him then. It'll be just us two, nice and private since I don't wanna make a big fuss.
Thing is, I'm not great with words... You'd think as someone who's taking literary classes and writes 10x more than the average person, I'd be good at that sort of thing, but I actually suck with words.

I work for a "Sip & Craft" studio and I'm in charge of keeping track of our teams To Do list. We have several different types of events (or classes) and each one comes with it's own To-Do list. We have an event almost every day and on Saturdays we have at least 4. Some of our team works remotely and we aren't always in at the same time so we need a To-Do list that keeps us all on the same page and Google Keep didn't seem detailed enough for our needs.
When an employee completes a task they check the box and enter their initials and the date. I think there is a way to automate the initials and date based on users but I haven't gotten that far yet.
I created the tab called "ByClass" first. This contains our daily, weekly, monthly and "ByClass" to do lists. The "ByClass" list is also sorted by date and has individual headers for each date and class. This format is easiest for me to enter what needs to be done for each event as well as keep track of when all the tasks for that event are done. This also makes it easier to see how many events are happening in one day and includes links to our guest list pdf's.
For some of my coworkers it would be easier to see this list sorted by the date a task needs to be completed (Column E) or who a task may be assigned to (Column F) but as it is, there is no way to sort this sheet without the individual headers getting lost. Is there a way to group rows together when sorting?
I created a "Daily" tab and used the FILTER function which displays the information exactly how I would want it formatted in this view, but you can't interact with it at all or the filter breaks.
I know I could just use the "Daily" format with a filter on the headers that the user could change as needed but sometimes we have multiple people working on the list at the same time, and making sure a whole class is completed would be harder to see.
Ideally I would like both tabs to reflect each other so if someone completes a task and enters their information on either sheet, the other would show it.

You know this guy is just working a job to pay his bills too? A property manager isn't going to fully control rent prices and if he does price it they have a responsibility to their client (the owner) to charge the market rate.
While it's a shame that rent is increasing for OP, this company sent a fair warning advanced notice to either expect to pay up or find another living arrangement.

For all we know OP could have been locked into an extremely low rate on rent for the last ten years and this could be the first adjustment catching up to market rate. In a contract your only locked in for the length of the contract, and when that contract ends friendly reminder that you don't own the property nor have rights to it or in the future. Laws on rent increases vary based on area and there may not be anything illegal here.
While I wouldn't be happy if I was OP either due to the 100% increase being pretty significant, it's totally unreasonable to think you rent will never increase in the future.

This isn't how ethics works. If it was, then the Holocaust would be justified. What the Jews did was illegal, they existed during the Nazi regime, which meant they had no right to life. That's a descriptively true fact, they literally lacked the right to life, and Nazis could engage in the exact same game you are playing, enumerating descriptive truths about the political reality of Germany in 1942 to justify rounding up Jewish people.
Descriptive and normative truths are built up the same way (through axioms and logic). However, the legality of something does not universally indicate how ethical something is.
If you want to continue playing the game of listing descriptive facts about the world, I have a fun one for you. The commodification of housing materially harms the working class, and has done so to such an extent that peasant revolutions within the past 100 years have literally rounded up landlords and shot them dead because of how much harm they were causing. This didn't require decades or centuries of anti-landlord rhetoric to dehumanize landlords, because the harm landlords cause is real and can be felt by people. Sometimes, when a large group of people are harmed enough, they get frustrated and revolt against said harm. That's a real risk landlords should realize they're engaging in, they tend to feel safe because the State backs the interests of the bourgeoisie, but that's not always necessarily going to be the case.

You mentioned a property manager's responsibility to serve the interests of the landlord. You mentioned your rights to the property ending with the expiration of the lease. These descriptively true facts were done to imply the landlord/property manager were behaving justly and didn't deserve to get doxxed.
Whether they deserve it or not, when one group consistently engages in harming another group, sometimes the other group fights back. The working class has very few avenues for actually fighting back against this sort of thing, and most of the tactics in this thread generally boil down to moderately annoying the landlord. They'll still evict the tenant, the tenant will still potentially become homeless because of housing commodification. The harm is still being done, and the landlord is benefitting from it.
Worse things have happened to landlords for engaging in this behavior, and they can happen again. It's not a game worth playing for anyone. It'd be best for everyone if landlords just fucked off and stopped scalping houses, but they won't. And peasants don't generally put up with this shit indefinitely.

It's almost as though the base-structure informs the super-structure, and as the contradictions of capitalism intensify, material harm skyrockets, people "radicalize" (see what used to be externalized costs actually internalized). Conversations are part of this change, the introduction of language and ideas allows people to navigate and reason about the harm they're feeling, and correctly place the blame, which is incredibly important.
If you look at the fascist movement in the U.S, you'll commonly see they actually agree on what's harming them (this is easy to tell). Rising prices (rent, groceries, etc.), shit pay, no control in decision making. However, they misunderstand the system.
People like you have baked capitalist realism into their heads (the system is immutable, this is the true way of the world, there's no reason to think or discuss an alternative because it's unreasonable), so they don't even consider that capitalism is the problem.
Instead they blame the Mexicans "not sending their best", or how LGBT communities are "attacking traditional values". They look for ways the world is changing, and assume that change is what's causing the harm they're feeling. You're an important part of the fascist pipeline, and even if you're not a fascist yourself, I'd suggest you get your head out of your ass before we literally live in a fascist dictatorship and this shit is illegal to discuss. I think what the OP is doing is harmful, but not as harmful as what the landlord did. I don't have enough information to say if it was justified or not, and neither do you. Sometimes harmful things can be done and they can be justified, especially in retaliation. I can list off a ton of extreme examples that are potentially justified but far more harmful than what either of these people are doing.

As any lawyer would tell you, intent matters, esp. in civil cases. -or- more pragmatically as any competent lawyer would tell you, if you're sweating $1k/month in rent, don't bank on legal technicalities to save the day when intentionally picking fights with entities with the capital to buy buildings.

The number is publicly available, you could literally say "please say nasty things to this number" and it would still be completely legal and any claim against it would be immediately laughed out of court.

Read the definition you just posted lol, OP did not do anything remotely quantifiable as harassment, he just posted the publicly available number, if OP is spamming offensive messages or something to the landlord sure but that is categorically not what is visible here. Further a customer complaint and warning is a legitimate purpose and is well established as protected speech thousands of times over. Unless you knowingly lie in a review you are protected completely. "This company sucks don't rent from them and here is their publicly available contact info" is completely indisputably first amendment protected speech everywhere in the US.

People have been calling and texting the number and some even stated that their calls and texts have been answered. The person who is answering is apparently the ownelandlord. That person is being harassed. Look at the comments describing what people are sending him. Pictures of their asses and random shit talk. That does not count as a customer review or a complaint.
All of that communication has been facilitated through the OP, who also stated that they intentionally left the contact information because they believe the landlord is an asshole.
Maybe stick to legal issues in Australia instead of trying to incorrectly educate Americans about our first amendment. Freedom of speech is not freedom to blow up someone’s phone because you don’t agree with their business practices. Even if they are unethical and shitty.

If I want to store which discount code was used for a purchase I can do something like this:

But in my case, I want to allow the users of my platform to modify the code. For example one year SUMMERSALE is 20% discount and the next year is 30% discount.
So in this case what do you think is the best option?
A) USE JSON FIELD TO BAKE DISCOUNT INFO AT THE TIME OF THE PURCHASE Should I store a JSON object with all the Discount code information? like this

Where the object can be something like:

B) CREATE SOME SORT OF VERSIONING SYSTEM
In this case each discount object is immutable once published and instead of modifying the discount object, a new object needs to be created with the same code. Latest promo code will always be the valid one. And since we keep the previous ones, we can link to them using FK as previously mentioned.

Hello! My partner and I are 10 months in and she loves when I bake. She doesn’t have a favorite pastry type of dessert, so I figured I do mine and another kind that I know she’s been wanting to try (tanghulu). I’ve never made Tiramisu before, but I would like to try my hand at it and practice before we go on our vacation for our 1 year anniversary. We’re long distance so I’ll be able to get in a couple practice bakes in between our visits. I’m working towards a degree in healthcare so I work by doing food deliveries in between classes and studying, so I can’t get her another gift outside of something else I have planned, which is fairly pricy as well, but she more than deserves it and I’ve decided to get her the full service so she’s vacation ready once she steps out of the salon.

Warning this is a very long read without a TLDR
I left this sub and joined the ryerson sub in 2021. Leaving behind my big drive of notes which is what I assume keeps driving these posts talking about grade inflation to my feed. My last few comments were very similar to everyone’s posts as of now - grade inflation, unfair admissions, feeling close to your goals and it being taken away. 3 years later here’s where I came from and what I’m doing now, why it’s not your fault and to offer a bit of hope if it helps. :)
In grade 12 (end of 2021) I had an 89 average, I was rejected from the majority of life sci and health sci programs (if a school had both I applied to both of them) - mac, u of t, queens, western. I got into York psych, health, TMU bio, undeclared arts and psych (waitlist), Laurier health sci and ottawa health sci. (some of my programs might be off if it’s wrong, the overarching field is what I mean). My goal was U of T life sci and to go to medical school. Laurier and Ottawa were off the table after my family and I came to the conclusion that we don’t have the money for me to move away, removing my last two life/sci options. I honestly wasn’t a big fan of York leaving TMU as my last option. I really wanted a life science or health science program because the curriculum after first year was not simply bio, chem, physics so I veered from biology at TMU.
So I ultimately ended up accepting undeclared arts as I was waitlisted for psychology. At the end of June, I got off the waitlist for psychology and accepted that. At the time, I was seriously unhappy with myself I was angry at the fact that people were getting opportunities that I wanted that didn’t deserve them due to inflation and lack of standardization of monitoring of tests during online schooling and just overall how poorly my high school experience ended. I’m talking full breakdowns about how I worked so hard and got nothing in return. I had teachers who genuinely believed that I was one of the best students that they had in years and told me that I would go far. I had a teacher go as far as writing a letter for no reason other than to just say how proud they were of me and how they knew that I would do great - which at the time I truly didn’t believe after not achieving any of the goals that I had set for myself at the beginning of grade 12.
My first year of psychology was online for my first semester where I did decently well I got a 3.0 my second semester, ended up being entirely in person because the online sections of classes were full. At the time I wanted to do medicine this dream quickly got away from me when second semester in person classes left me with a 2.67 gpa for the semester. I had a realization looking upon my peers who were still completely online at TMU or at other universities had much much better GPA than me and I wouldn’t be able to get into medicine with my GPA. So again I felt let down by systems that ultimately led to further inequality in education. I let go of the idea of medicine and had no idea what I wanted to do after my undergrad.
After my first year, I decided to join the course union at my school, which was one of the best decisions I ever made. I met amazing people who encouraged me to do better, peers who were higher years than me and gave me advice when needed and from there, my grades got better. after joining the course union I joined the liberal arts union and from there I worked on about five more different positions over the next two years. TMU is generally not seen as the best school and it’s not necessarily “competitive” but that can work in your favour because there’s so many positions available whereas at other schools where people may be more inclined to take these these positions making them more competitive. Joining these course unions gave me so many opportunities and so many things that are now on my CV that continue to provide more opportunities, for example I was offered a job at the school based on all my experience. My CV is now what I would consider amazing with all the work that I’ve gained that is applicable to the field that I want to work in and because of my experience on my CV I got a research assistant position where I have a great academic relationship with a prof. And I got my gpa up enough it’s not near a 4.00 or anything crazy but it’s good enough for me to get into grad school.
I always knew that I didn’t want to stay in psychology after I graduated so I completed my degree in three years rather than four. I also want to mention you do not need to complete your degree in three years. There’s no need for it. Had I stayed for an extra year I would’ve had so many more opportunities with extracurriculars. It’s just I did not love the psychology curriculum enough to want to stay in it for another year. I had taken summer school courses before coming to this conclusion, and I had so many credits that I didn’t want to switch programs so I fast tracked. All that being said, do not rush your degree unless for example, you don’t like it and have plans to do something unrelated afterwards - for me it was a masters in a different field that the only requirement was a bachelor’s degree so I didn’t see the point in switching. Having gained all of the research experience and extracurricular experience in the field that I want to pursue is what made my degree nonetheless beneficial even though I wasn’t doing what I had originally planned.
As of now, I will be beginning my masters at U of T in the fall (not in psychology). I feel very accomplished and fulfilled with everything I’ve done and I feel like the person that all those teachers said that I was back in high school. While I didn’t go to U of T for life sciences, and become a doctor like I had thought I would I am going to U of T nonetheless for a field I didn’t even know existed. I found and great community and something I genuinely love by continually working hard after feeling like I was ripped off by grade inflation and online school. All of which is so minuscule to everything I’ve gone on to do.
Moral of my story is you might feel ripped off right now, that your hard work went unnoticed and you might feel like you’re never going to accomplish your goals. But the truth is, it's very minuscule to the potential that you have. And as long as you continue to use your work ethic and potential wherever you go, you will be successful. You don't need big fancy school. You can do just as well if not better at schools that are seen as less prestigious or competitive as long as you continue to put in the hard work that you did in high school. So please don't feel like you have lost something but feel that you have gained the potential to do more. If you’re truly uncertain about accepting a program, take the time off think about alternate fields and try applying again, it might be better than toughing it out in a program you don’t really care about. If you’re dead set on going to university this fall, don’t wanna take time off and want to apply again and didn’t get into the one you planned, join extracurriculars meet new people and keep putting in work and it will pay off.
And I’m not saying you’re wrong in anyway for complaining and feeling the way that you feel because I felt the same way. You’re all valid asf. All I’m saying is don’t beat yourself up and don’t feel like you’re the problem because there’s so many opportunities for you so long as you seek them out and take them and you will end up in a much better position in the end.

I was talking to the bestie earlier (who now lives 1,000+ miles away) and made a dumb self deprecating joke about how I need to make friends, and she was like “what do you mean? I feel like you’re always hanging out with people and bopping around” which I guess is true, I do put myself out there socially. I’m always in some kind of rec league and I volunteer and go to meetup groups and all of that, but nothing actually sticks in any meaningful way
Like this one rec league I was in a few months ago for example, our groupchat is still pretty active and most of us get together and hangout every other weekend or so, but I don’t talk to anyone in the group outside of that. I met 2 girls through volunteering and we all agreed to sign up for some dance classes together which we’re currently doing weekly, but again, don’t really talk to either of them outside of it.
The problem, I think, is that I don’t actually want to…? Like I WANT to make friends, actual friends I don’t just meet up with in group settings for a couple hours every Friday night. And so I do all of these things like trivia and softball leagues and book clubs and I meet so many people who also want to make friends. I just don’t…like them very much :(
I don’t actively dislike anyone or anything! I just think of my current friendships and how we all just LIKE each other enough that we manage to keep in touch throughout stuff like having kids, marriage, distance, whatever. When I think of old friends I’ve lost touch with over the years, the obvious reason we lost touch was because “life just got in the way” but I think that’s kind of a half-baked excuse
Proximity is the driving force of most friendships, we all know this. People always bitch about how hard it is to make friends outside of school or work. But I rarely hear anyone talk about the reason why? Obviously it’s because it takes effort to maintain friendship outside of those channels, and we don’t want to make effort for people we don’t like that much. It’s literally the “if they wanted to, they would” dating advice mantra but for platonic relationships.
I met my best friend through work at my/our first job like 10 years ago. I was friends with most of my coworkers and we hungout frequently outside of work, but in hindsight most of them actually kind of annoyed me lol even though I didn’t realize it at the time. But with my best friend I literally remember being like ok THIS girl rocks, I want to be her friend. And she felt the same and the rest was history!
Throughout all of my rec leagues and volunteering etc there was exactly 1 girl who I thought I’d like to be friends with, and she ended up basically just bitching to me privately one night about how misleading the marketing for our league was (which was true, I felt her grievances lol) and then she never showed up again after that night.
Maybe I’m the problem. Idk I’m just venting!
