2024.05.15 00:26 businessnewstv How to Ensure Compliance in Healthcare Staffing in New York in 2024

Importance of compliance in healthcare staffing

Compliance in healthcare staffing is of utmost importance in order to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of healthcare facilities. It plays a crucial role in maintaining the quality of patient care and protecting the well-being of both patients and staff. By adhering to compliance regulations, healthcare staffing agencies can not only avoid legal penalties and reputational damage but also foster trust and confidence among clients and patients. Additionally, compliance in healthcare staffing can contribute to the growth of business by attracting new clients and retaining existing ones. To grow business, healthcare staffing agencies must prioritize compliance and implement effective strategies to ensure that all staff members are properly trained, licensed, and qualified to provide the highest level of care.

Legal and regulatory requirements

Legal and regulatory requirements play a crucial role in ensuring compliance in healthcare staffing in New York. It is imperative for healthcare staffing agencies to adhere to the set guidelines and laws to maintain the highest standards of patient care and safety. These requirements encompass various aspects such as licensing, certification, background checks, and training for healthcare professionals. Additionally, healthcare staffing agencies must also comply with federal and state regulations regarding employment practices, discrimination, and privacy. By diligently following these legal and regulatory requirements, healthcare staffing agencies can establish a solid foundation for providing reliable and qualified healthcare professionals to meet the demands of the industry.

Consequences of non-compliance

Consequences of non-compliance Non-compliance with healthcare staffing regulations in New York can have severe consequences for healthcare organizations. Firstly, it can lead to legal penalties and fines, which can significantly impact the financial stability of the organization. Additionally, non-compliance can damage the reputation of the organization, leading to a loss of trust from patients and the community. This can result in a decline in patient satisfaction and a decrease in the number of patients seeking care from the organization. Furthermore, non-compliance can also jeopardize patient safety and quality of care, as staffing shortages and improper credentials can lead to errors and substandard care. Therefore, it is crucial for healthcare organizations in New York to prioritize compliance and ensure that all staffing practices adhere to the established regulations.

Understanding New York healthcare staffing regulations

Licensing and certification requirements

Licensing and certification requirements are essential to ensure compliance in healthcare staffing in New York. It is crucial for healthcare organizations to manage their staff effectively by ensuring that all employees possess the necessary licenses and certifications. By doing so, organizations can guarantee that their staff members have met the required standards and are qualified to provide quality care to patients. Managing your staff in this manner not only ensures compliance with legal and regulatory requirements but also promotes patient safety and enhances the overall quality of healthcare services.

Staffing ratios and patient safety

Background checks and credential verification

These processes help to ensure that healthcare professionals have the necessary qualifications and meet the required standards before being hired. Background checks involve thorough investigations into an individual's criminal history, employment history, and educational background. This helps to identify any red flags or discrepancies that may affect their suitability for the position. Credential verification involves confirming the validity and authenticity of an individual's licenses, certifications, and other credentials. This helps to ensure that healthcare professionals are properly trained and qualified to provide quality care to patients. By conducting comprehensive background checks and credential verification, healthcare organizations can mitigate risks, maintain regulatory compliance, and safeguard the well-being of patients.

Developing a compliant staffing plan

Identifying staffing needs

Identifying staffing needs is a crucial step in ensuring compliance in healthcare staffing in New York. One of the key factors in maintaining a compliant healthcare staffing system is the ability to retain medical professionals. Retaining medical professionals is essential for providing consistent and high-quality patient care. By creating a supportive and engaging work environment, healthcare organizations can increase the likelihood of retaining skilled medical professionals. This can be achieved through offering competitive compensation packages, providing opportunities for professional development, and fostering a positive workplace culture. By focusing on retaining medical professionals, healthcare organizations can ensure compliance by maintaining a stable and qualified workforce.

Recruitment and selection process

The recruitment and selection process is a crucial aspect of ensuring compliance in healthcare staffing in New York. It involves a systematic approach to identifying, attracting, and hiring qualified healthcare professionals who meet the necessary requirements and standards. This process begins with a thorough analysis of the staffing needs and the development of job descriptions and specifications. Recruitment strategies, such as advertising job openings, utilizing professional networks, and partnering with educational institutions, are then implemented to attract a diverse pool of candidates. Once the applications are received, a rigorous selection process is carried out, which may include screening resumes, conducting interviews, and performing background checks. The goal is to identify individuals who possess the required qualifications, skills, and competencies to provide safe and high-quality care to patients. By implementing a comprehensive recruitment and selection process, healthcare organizations can ensure that their staffing practices align with regulatory requirements and promote compliance.

Training and orientation programs

Training and orientation programs play a vital role in ensuring compliance in healthcare staffing in New York. These programs provide healthcare professionals with the necessary knowledge and skills to adhere to the strict regulations and guidelines set forth by governing bodies. By implementing comprehensive training and orientation programs, healthcare organizations can effectively educate their staff on the importance of compliance, thereby reducing the risk of non-compliance and potential legal consequences. Moreover, these programs also contribute to boosting revenue by improving staff efficiency and productivity, leading to enhanced patient care and satisfaction.

Ensuring ongoing compliance

Monitoring and auditing practices

Monitoring and auditing practices play a crucial role in ensuring compliance in healthcare staffing in New York. These practices involve the systematic review and evaluation of staffing processes, policies, and procedures to identify any potential gaps or areas of improvement. By implementing robust monitoring and auditing practices, healthcare organizations can proactively identify and address compliance issues, such as ensuring that staff members have the necessary qualifications and licenses, adhering to patient privacy regulations, and maintaining accurate documentation. Furthermore, regular monitoring and auditing can help healthcare organizations stay up-to-date with changing regulations and industry best practices, thereby minimizing the risk of non-compliance and potential legal consequences. In summary, monitoring and auditing practices are essential components of an effective compliance strategy in healthcare staffing in New York.

Documentation and record-keeping

Documentation and record-keeping play a crucial role in ensuring compliance in healthcare staffing in New York. It is imperative for healthcare facilities to maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of staff qualifications, licenses, certifications, and training records. This includes keeping track of background checks, immunization records, and any disciplinary actions taken against staff members. By maintaining comprehensive and organized records, healthcare facilities can demonstrate their commitment to meeting regulatory requirements and ensuring the safety and well-being of patients. In addition, proper record-keeping enables healthcare facilities to easily provide evidence of compliance during audits or inspections. Therefore, healthcare organizations should prioritize the implementation of robust documentation and record-keeping systems to effectively manage their staffing compliance obligations.

Continuous staff education and training

Continuous staff education and training is crucial in ensuring compliance in healthcare staffing in New York. As the healthcare industry is constantly evolving, it is essential for healthcare professionals to stay updated with the latest regulations, protocols, and best practices. By providing regular training sessions, workshops, and educational resources, healthcare organizations can equip their staff with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the complex compliance landscape. Additionally, ongoing education helps healthcare professionals stay informed about emerging technologies and advancements in patient care, enabling them to deliver high-quality services. With continuous staff education and training, healthcare organizations can ensure that their staff members are well-prepared to meet the compliance requirements and provide optimal care to patients.

Addressing challenges in healthcare staffing compliance

Managing staff turnover

With the constant changes in the healthcare industry and the high demand for qualified professionals, healthcare organizations must adopt effective strategies to address staff turnover. One key strategy is to prioritize employee engagement and satisfaction, as this can significantly reduce turnover rates. Additionally, implementing comprehensive training and development programs can help healthcare staff feel supported and equipped to handle their roles effectively. By focusing on these strategies, healthcare organizations can maintain compliance and ensure a stable workforce.

Adapting to changing regulations

As the healthcare industry is constantly evolving, it is essential for healthcare organizations to stay up-to-date with the latest regulations to maintain the highest standards of patient care and safety. This requires a proactive approach to monitoring and implementing changes in staffing requirements, licensure, and certification. By closely following regulatory updates and collaborating with regulatory bodies, healthcare staffing agencies can effectively navigate the complex landscape of compliance and ensure that their staff meet all necessary criteria. Adapting to changing regulations not only helps healthcare organizations avoid penalties and legal issues, but also promotes a culture of continuous improvement and commitment to providing quality healthcare services in New York.

Dealing with staffing shortages

Dealing with staffing shortages is a critical challenge faced by healthcare organizations in New York. To ensure compliance in healthcare staffing, it is essential to develop a comprehensive strategy that addresses the recruitment and retention of qualified professionals. One key aspect of this strategy is the implementation of a comprehensive marketing plan for dental practice. A well-designed marketing plan can attract potential candidates and highlight the unique opportunities available within the healthcare organization. By leveraging digital platforms, social media, and targeted advertising, healthcare organizations can effectively promote their dental practice and engage with qualified professionals. This proactive approach not only helps in addressing staffing shortages but also ensures compliance with regulatory requirements in healthcare staffing in New York.

2024.05.15 00:13 Theloverofnothing I funny story for y’all potatoes

I have a story to share. I call the it “the last time I truly lied.” For some context, I shared I room with my little sister. We had a bunk bed and she had the top one. This happened 2019 2020ish. She had gotten a hammer for Christmas 2018 if I remember correctly. So I was sitting on my bed watching tv and she was holding onto the board that when horizontally on her bed, swinging and then I heard what sounded like it you tap a glass plate with a metal fork and she ran to the bathroom. I was frantically asking what happened with if she was okay because I saw her put down her hammer before running off. And then a gut wrenching wail came from the bathroom. The kind I know means this is beyond my control, I should stay out. It turns out she had hit her teeth with her hammer after it fell off the board she hung it on when she was swinging on our bed frame and knocked a perfect half circle out of her two front teeth. I didn’t know till she told our parents through her sobs that she knocked her teeth out and I put the pieces together. Then comes the first lie. When the asked me what happened I told our parents that it fell off her mattress when she was climbing up the ladder knowing that it would make the problem less severe. And they believed me. I proceeded to tell that lie two more times as my siblings started asking. That was the story me and my sister told. So in 2021 my mom passed away never knowing the truth and I couldn’t keep it up anymore. My family was joking about it at the table one day and I told them I had to tell them something and finally told them all the truth of what happened that night. They all burst out laughing at the fact that I hid it that long and agreed. It was a smart move hiding in from my mom.

2024.05.14 23:49 Exoticpanda911 Im so in love, but she’s out of my reach like the star she is

I (19m) have a huge crush on my old classmate (19f). She’s the kind of person that I would pick in a room full of girls anytime, she looks like an angel, has similiar hobbies and intrests as me, she seems funny and nice.
She’s just so out of my league. There’s no denying that she is STUNNING, like really. She travels around alot, she even has local celebrities commenting on her ig pictures and everything.
I’d say that im not half bad myself, ive been doing well with girls these last few years, i get compliments on my looks and personality feats ext, but she has created a league of her own.
I tried talking with her again once after a time, because ive known her since we’v been 14 but she didin’t seem to remember me. Im not bothered by it, but the low intrest was visible.
She has been crying after a man or two in the last year, dudes who don’t treat her right. Ik its easy to say but i would give her the world.
I’ve even told my friends that if i ever get into a relationship again with someone else than her, i’ll always remember her and realise that everyone else pales in comparison. She’s exactly my type and im kinda saddened that i’ll never see the story about us on the pages of my life.
I know that im still young and have much to expirience, but no one will be her.

2024.05.14 23:31 DoctorParadox9 The 29th Colony (First Draft)

Logline: After the inhabitants from all (but one) human space colonies die at the same time, a detective from the only colony left is sent to investigate.
"Detective Ian stood beside the corpses of two scientists inside the Ceres 45 Observatory. Strewn around the corpses were the heaps of papers he perused through after he saved all the files from the computer. He pushes the last papers aside, picked his bag and strode out.
It was the twenty-eighth, and the last, colony that he inspected. This one wasn't much different than the other twenty-seven that he had checked. And what was even more bewildering was the fact that the people on all twenty - eight colonies seemed to have died around the same time.
He climbed into his flying car and took off towards the city where the streets were littered with death; As he stepped out of the car, a faint stench brought an almost mechanical grimace onto his face. That was something his nose couldn't get accustomed to no matter how many dead bodies he encountered.
Two local fauna animals were tearing apart the partly rotten corpse of a teen. Ian drew his gun, ready to shoot one of them for samples to be studied for any transmissible disease. But he lowered his gun. He had already picked ten samples from animals from the other colonies. If there ever was a common disease that spread from local fauna to humans and then to the other colonies, ten samples would be enough to figure it out he thought.
He sauntered toward the teen's corpse. The two animals glanced at him. They tore at the corpse faster and faster before scurrying away. Ian crouched next to the corpse and stared at the little creepy crawlies that scuttled all over the teen's corpse. Dozens upon dozens of thoughts were roaming through his mind. So many possibilities, he thought, but as many as they were, none of them seemed to make any sense.
There was no conflict between the colonies. There was no known disease that could have taken all at the same time, and the fact that all but one traveler between the colonies died made everything even more perplexing for Ian. The traveler was from his colony. He was carrying goods to Colony D-RtG-120(the 10th colony) when he arrived there and found all its inhabitants dead. Ian checked his file and questioned every neighbor, acquaintance and relative, but nothing hinted at the traveling courier being a diabolic and genius mind that could have eradicated so many souls.
As for the leaders on Ian's home colony, they too were suspects in his eyes, but he was yet to find a plausible reason for which they would have killed. His colony was the richest and the second least populated. So rich and vast, the leaders lived like kings, and, in Ian's mind, what king would want to rule over dead worlds when their kingdom is heaven?!
Ian stood up and took one last sorrowful look at the corpse before heading into the empty military research. He strode out of the military research at dusk with a bag full of papers, some experiments tube and small weaponry which he placed into the flying car, then took off through the gray clouds.
[...]
Ian's ship entered his colony atmosphere. Lost in his thoughts, he watched the clouds go by before two call beeps threw him back to reality.
" What's up?", he asked with a bored, tired and monotone voice.
"He's dead."
" Huh?! The courier?!", asked Ian.
"Yeah"... "
PS: "The Courier" refers to the guy from Ian's colony who delivered goods between colonies (6th paragraph in the story) and who, unlike the other "couriers" who died when their people died, he lived (just like Ian and all the people from Ian's colony). The story is very compressed (due to the word limit) and my writing may be confusing, so I added this " PS" just to make it clear. Hopefully I did.

2024.05.14 23:25 Atlusn Ranked Questions: Decay and End-of-Split Placement

Hey folks this is a two-parter, mostly hypothetical for an understanding of how the system works.
Lets say I complete my 5 placement matches at the beginning of a split, and eventually hit Diamond 1. I get deployed out of country for 6 months and my LP decays. My questions are 1- Would I decay all the way down to Emerald 1 by the end of the split? And 2- Would the end-of-split profile banner be Emerald or Diamond, since that would be the highest rank achieved? (I like banners)
Thanks in advance, love you guys <3

2024.05.14 23:12 IAmUnwritten777 I need advice

About 12 months ago during a really hard time in my long term relationship, I went out, got drunk and kissed someone. I was out with my friend at the time who recently got out of a toxic relationship and they were chatting with the friend of the person I kissed. Now my partner found out 3 months ago and we’ve been working through it. At the start my partner asked me to never speak to my friend again because they’re to blame (which I completely disagree, it was my mistake and my friend never encouraged me) I said I wouldn’t do that but was happy to take a step back while we navigated the betrayal. 2 months in and we made a lot of progress and I started talking to my friend again who is a massive support system for me and a dear friend I’ve had for longer than I’ve known my partner. My partner is furious that I am talking to my friend and is back to wanting me to never speak to them again. What do I do?
For a little extra context my partner has always has an essence of the need to control things.. they have never liked this friend of mine and it feels like this is an excuse to place an ultimatum and get rid of my friend forever. I know I am 100% in the wrong for the kiss so don’t come at me for that, it’s about whether the ultimatum is reasonable or not.

2024.05.14 23:11 Doowstados Feedback on level 2 charger installation plan

Situation is I have 200A service, with a 90A sub-panel in my garage.
Right now the idea is to wire in a 6/2 MC cable surface mounted in the garage off of the sub-panel from a 50A breaker. Charger will be set to run at 32A to give a safe margin for continuous load and taking into account the 80% rule I should have plenty of headroom I think.
The 6/2 MC cable is probably overkill, I could probably do 8/2 and go with a 40A breaker but would like some future proofing for my effort.
90A, 240V service to the sub-panel gives 21.84kW of power available, 80% of that gives ~17.5 kW useable (80% rule) so given my peak demand of 4 kW out of the sub-panel (very rarely) I should have plenty of room to grow and keep up with the 32A/240V charger (7.68 kW).
Thoughts? Am I going to burn my house down? I plan to use bushings on the MC cable, use a torque screwdriver on the breaker terminals, etc. etc.

2024.05.14 22:52 112-121-122-211-212 I am appalled to be in such close proximity to midwits

Mass literacy was a mistake. Just imagine how much richer the internet would be had midwits been barred access. Instead we get a noise-filled internet, junkyard instead of a library. All this bandwidth wasted to produce nothing but the most appalling “content” as they like to call it, where the content is precisely the void of content. To produce content is to produce the sign of content-- the sign of being a “content producer”-- God forbid I one day reach such a lowly level of sub-humanity. What do these “content producers” do? Reproduce themselves. Release content so as to be recognized as content-producer. The content is merely a bait, a hook for something else, it is besides the point for them. The point is to get the hook out there, and to keep producing. By continuous production and growth their efforts within certain communities will get recognized, which will open to them new avenues for business. So in essence the content creator is merely a business developer for his own product, for himself. The content creator seeks to become a "success story", but is it really a success to be someone subservient to the whims of stakeholders? Whatever happened to the self-sufficient artist, to the philosopher as hermit? Whatever happened to integrity and autonomy? There have never been so much "content" produced per second in history than there is today, yet none of it even comes close to the depth and breadth of artists and thinkers from eras gone by. I would even wager that a great deal of content today merely recycles their creations, barely adding to it in any sort of way. So we have the content creator as parasite, a phenomenon not too unheard of. In the end, the wheel of production must keep turning at all costs.

2024.05.14 22:20 Sir_Girard [UR] Gus DeLuca: To Rossi's

"That's a load of bull!" Gus burst out, his laughter bouncing off the cozy walls of the small diner.
"Yeah, Tony. That's not how it went down at all," Vinny chimed in, a grin spreading across his face.
Tony leaned back in his chair, swirling the ice in his glass. "Alright, then spill the beans. What really happened?"
Gus shot Tony a playful glare, trying to stifle his laughter. "Come on, Tony, I'm not playing your game."
Tony chuckled, shaking his head. "You're a real character, Gus. Vinny, what's the scoop?"
"We got ourselves another Rossi problem," Vinny sighed.
Gus sat up straight, a frown creasing his forehead. "Rossi again? How much did he stiff us for this time?"
"The whole damn tab," Vinny replied, his expression grim.
Gus slammed his hand on the table. "The whole thing?"
He glanced around the diner, his mind racing. "Tony, get the car ready."
Tony quickly finished his drink and rose from his seat to fetch the car keys.
"Sammy!" Gus called out over his shoulder.
A tall, sharply dressed man hurried over to their table.
"Gus?"
"You got a smoke?" Gus asked, his voice calm despite the urgency in his demeanor.
Sammy reached into his pocket, pulling out a pack of cigarettes. With a nod, he offered it to Gus.
Gus took a cigarette, then hesitated before accepting another. "Thanks," he muttered, tucking them into his shirt pocket.
"You're welcome, Gus," Sammy replied before heading back to the counter.
"Can't stand that guy," Gus murmured. "Talks like he's got a screw loose." Despite his annoyance, he chuckled softly, though a sharp pain shot through his side.
"Let's get moving. Tony's waiting," Gus declared, pushing himself up from the table.
As Gus and Vinny exited the diner, they found Tony waiting by the rear driver's door, already open for Gus. Gus climbed into the car while Vinny walked around to the passenger seat.
"Why can't Rossi just pay what he owes?" Gus grumbled, pulling a cigarette from his shirt pocket and placing it between his lips. "I'm not asking for the world."
Gus patted his pockets, searching for a lighter. "Vinny, got a light?"
Vinny reached behind the seat to retrieve a lighter and flicked it, igniting Gus's cigarette.
"Thanks," Gus muttered, taking a few puffs.
"Maybe business is slow for him?" Tony offered as he pulled away from the curb.
"All year?" Gus shot back, disbelief evident in his tone.
Tony fell silent, his focus on navigating the streets.
"I don't want to have to resort to drastic measures," Gus admitted, exhaling a cloud of smoke. "I've always liked Rossi... but he's not leaving me much choice."
"What else can you do?" Vinny asked, his voice tinged with concern.
Gus remained silent, his gaze fixed on the passing scenery outside the window, lost in thought.
"Remember Beans?" Gus asked the car, his voice carrying a tinge of nostalgia.
"Beans?" Tony echoed, trying to jog his memory.
"Tall guy, slick hair? Used to run with Sonny's crew back in the day..." Gus prompted, eyes fixed on the road ahead.
"Oh yeah, Beans. I remember him now. What about him?" Tony recalled.
"Beans had a brother named Larry," Gus continued, taking a drag from his cigarette. "Larry owes me twenty grand as of yesterday."
Tony's expression softened. "Oh, I see."
"Anyway, Beans fell off a boat a few years back," Gus added casually, his tone belying the gravity of the situation.
"Oh," Tony murmured, understanding the unspoken implications.
"I heard Little Larry moved out to Minnesota or something after Beans passed," Vinny chimed in from the passenger seat.
"Yeah, he did. But he's making a return trip for his sister's wedding," Gus explained.
"Vicky's getting married?" Tony asked, surprised.
"No, not Vicky. The other one," Gus clarified, a hint of amusement in his voice.
Vinny twisted around in his seat to gauge Gus's expression, realizing he wasn't joking.
"Who's the unlucky groom?" Tony inquired, intrigued.
"Some hotshot lawyer from Manhattan," Gus replied, his tone dripping with disdain.
"When's the wedding?" Vinny inquired, breaking the momentary silence.
"Today," Gus replied tersely.
"We're here," Tony announced, pulling the car to a stop in front of a quaint flower shop.
"What's the plan?" Vinny turned to Gus, anticipation evident in his voice.
"First, we deal with this Rossi mess..." Gus began, only to be interrupted by Tony.
"And what's the plan for that?" Tony interjected, his tone expectant.
Gus paused, considering his words carefully.
"Let's go," Gus declared, swinging the car door open and stepping out onto the street, with Tony and Vinny following suit.

2024.05.14 22:17 ausername- 34[M4F] USA/Online - Cinders seek to smolder once again.

I'm a bit of a burn out. Loneliness has exhausted me for the past few years and it's about all I can take just to keep going on. I'd really like to meet someone who makes me feel something again. Someone who makes me excited to be alive again. I want to meet someone who makes me beam from dawn to dusk just by their presence in my life.
I'm an internet hermit. I don't go out much, except to take care of my wonderful little corgi dog. He's basically my whole entire world. Don't worry about asking to see him, I was planning on showing him off to you anyway. I'm very proud of him and he's basically my literal son and actual child.
I play a lot of video games. You don't have to, but it'd be cool if you did. We could watch movies together and listen to music together, and just hang out together in Discord calls. I'm looking for someone who wants to spend a lot of time together.
I don't have much of a physical type, except for that I'm only attracted to thin and average girls. I don't mind a few pounds to lose, I've got a few myself (maybe we can motivate each other to live healthier?), but I don't find obesity attractive.
I'm very average myself, so if you're looking for tall and handsome, you'll want to look someplace else, but if you don't mind an average looking internet hermit, maybe I'm the guy for you?

2024.05.14 22:14 Shizhappens17 Help!!

Hello! I have a 16 month old boy. We are struggling here. He is EXTREMELY active. He wakes around 530/6 am, and we take a walk, where he walks about .25 of a mile of it. We eat breakfast. We go outside and play, a lot of running around and investigating. By 9 am he’s cashed, rubbing eyes, laying his head on me. So he crawls up to me and falls asleep for maybe an hour- an hour fifteen. Then we are up again, we go for another walk, where he walks about .25 of a mile of it. We come in and have lunch, while I clean up… he usually plays by himself for about an hour. Then we are out the door again doing something else. We come home around 2ish cause he’s cashed again and we do another hour nap. We have dinner, do a night time walk or park night then it’s bed time anywhere from 730-745. (So he wakes at 530…. Nap from 9-10…. Nap from 2-3….bedtime around 745). We have tried the one nap situation from 11-130 ish. It’s fine, but he gets very over tired so we have found as of right now that a short two naps works for him. BUT for the past 3 weeks he has been a 130 am wake up king. Like ready to attack the day type of kid. We try to rock him back to sleep but he becomes a gymnast and wiggles his way out and just wants to party. I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO!!!!! We’ve tried adjusting the schedule, lots of fresh air, he’s get plenty of exercise, eats a fantastic diet. If anyone were to live with us and see what this kid does they would be surprised that he doesn’t sleep 12-14 hours a night. Any recommendations, insight, advice….. Thank you

2024.05.14 22:13 CoNFuzionator8 Family Drama

So I've gotten a girlfriend recently, and introduced her to my family. I did this on a wednesday, a day my family has family dinners weekly. Since then, my girlfriend has been invited, and came, to each of these dinners. There is an issue, however. Her and close family friend of mine who also comes to these dinners went to school together and knew eachother. Now when my girlfriend realized this she was excited because she thought they were friends. But, my family friend never really saw their relationship that way, apparently they just had one class that they never really talked to eachother outside of.
Now this, on it's own, is no problem. It gets difficult though, because my girlfriend, thinking they were friends, got really hurt when the family friend was a little closed off around her. My girlfriend took this as being cold and mean, and my family friend kind of picked up on that and just started ignoring her all together.
This has made things very tense at dinners. I have had to constantly comfort my girlfriend, and everyone is a little on edge all day.
Tomorrow, being a Wednesday and all, we planned on having a discussion (my girlfriend, family friend, my dad and I) to work this out. Initially, I was excited. I thought "cool we're going to work everything out in a civil manner and it's gonna be great. But then I talked with my family friend today. She said that she was going to talk about how she didn't appreciate how my girlfriend was talking about her, which is fair. But she also talked about how she wasn't going to apologize for anything. Now that worries me, because my girlfriend picks up and runs with little things like that, and I'm worried.
Anyways, I just wanted some advice on how I should be a buffer between them. I want to keep having these family dinners with both of them there, and I want these dinners to stop being tense, but I'm not so sure that can happen.

2024.05.14 21:57 krikmox Should I double down or back out?

I recently bought a HP office pc for like 25 bucks. No hard drive no GPU . I installed a cheap ssd and it had internal graphics. Windows ran fine and could play Minecraft, that's pretty much the only game it could play with internal graphics. So I decided to buy a 20$ 1050ti off of a friend. Trying to install it was a bit of a hassle had to shove it in and take the psu out the case, but it barely fit. Now whenever I powered it on, no screen, no fans spinning on the gpu or the cpu. HP used proprietary psu cables so I can't troubleshoot the psu with my main pc.
So should I try and buy parts to troubleshoot it or should I back out. The seller doesn't accept returns but if I sell the cpu it should sell for around 30 bucks on ebay.
In case you need the specs i5 7500 8g ddr4 ram and a 180 watt psu.

2024.05.14 21:51 Maddie_Young Tc and rain water

I have a TC Thai monstera that I’m about to take out and out in its new medium (I’m open to ideas, I’ve watched some videos saying perlite and fluval is the way to go but also some saying that spagnum moss and perlite works just as well) this is my first time experimenting with with TC and I don’t want to ruin it. I know you have to accumulate it and I’m confident with that. I use rain waiter to water my 40+ house plants, can I use rain waiter for my tc also? Like when I’m rinsing of the agar and using some fungicide before I repot it in its humidity dome.
Any help is appreciated ☺️

2024.05.14 21:41 felloutwithfallout Hey y’all!

Looking to identify the bane of my life and the receiving end of my hatred. South east England. Took a mattock to this bed to get out roots of box bushes. Some other crap in there too, hadn’t been cared for for several (read like 10+) years. This lil shit is EVERYWHERE. It’s popping up where I never thought I’d see it. Some of it is attached to some original root material, other bits just seem to have their own root matrix. Would just like to be able to appropriately hate and name this. Thanks

2024.05.14 21:40 Toast_N_Post Relationship Advice : Should I Move Away For Grad School?

I have been dating my boyfriend ( let's call him G ) for about a year now. He is talking about getting more serious with our relationship, like wanting us to move in together after I finish school and marriage and kids, and I guess i'm sorta wondering what I should do? I am currently a rising college senior ( F 22 ) and my boyfriend works from home mostly doing I.T ( M 35 ). I'm currently studying entomology and would like to continue my studies at grad school. He is tied down here by family and he wouldn't be able to follow me if I went out of state to go for grad. I love him and I would want to move in with him, but leaving for a few more years would really test our relationship... and I feel bad because he has been nothing but understanding and had such patience with everything in our relationship. When I was in intermediate school I was r*ped and ever since I've been standoffish and avoidant on trying new things or meeting new people. He's the first relationship I've really ever had and was even my first ( consensual ) kiss. While we haven't had sex yet and he mentions he wants to have sex, he has never pressured me - even when we do hand or oral when I say stop he stops. He's been their for me when dealing with my family which can be toxic at times.... and I feel like I want to give back to him. I do want to marry him and start a life with him, but he's ready to start today and I don't know if I am. I think that's the only place in our relationship where the age gap shows.... its jarring because I never really care or notice it and he makes me very happy and like I can open up. I feel like I'm rabbling now haha...

TLDR : Should I try and stay around here, move in, and start a life together with him or apply for grad school and leave?

2024.05.14 21:39 dan1234890000 My best friend

There was this girl. We had become best friends in the early years of secondary school and were inseparable. She was honestly perfect. We would spend all day together since we were in the same class for everything. Then we would spend around 3 hours together after school. When we would eventually go home, we would be on FaceTime for the rest of the day and then we would go to sleep whilst still on FaceTime. We would wake up and stay on FaceTime until we saw each other again in the morning. I felt like I was in a different world when I was with her. Every time she would hug me, it was a comfort I never knew existed. I was filled with this happiness which at the time I didn’t realise was love. She would stare into my eyes with the sun reflecting her beautiful light brown eyes and all I could do was give in and look away. It was a glare of affection. I loved her so much. She obviously didn’t know this and had made it very clear that she saw us as only friends however she would show me so much affection. She would play with my hair, hold my hand in class, squeeze my bicep, steal my food, hug me with her hands on my neck, take snaps on phone etc. I never told her that I was in love with her because I was too afraid of the embarrassment that would come with it if she didn’t feel the same way. So I kept to myself. It was torture seeing her everyday and knowing that she would never be mine. However seeing her stunning smile everyday made it worth it. All of our friends made fun of how close we were and kept making jokes that we should get together already, she and I both brushed it off but deep inside that was my one true wish. After the best few years of my life we had eventually left school. I had finally given up on the fact that she might develop feelings one day and decided that I had enough. I had started to ghost her. We would stop FaceTiming and stop seeing so much of each other until I finally cut her off. In the moment it was like I had dropped a heavy weight that was pulling me down but after about a week I had come to regret my decision. I had been so in love with her that I didn’t realise she was my only true friend. After I had cut her off, all our other friends had stopped talking to me and I had no one. No one to go out with and no one to speak to. It was one of the lowest points of my life. Day after day I kept thinking about her. It wasn’t only in the times were I would be sad but she would pop up in my head even when I was having dinner with my family or working with dad or even when I went out by myself. It was horrible. Every time I saw something that reminded me of her, my heart would break. Eventually over time it started to get a little better however it has been nearly three years and I still haven’t gotten over her. I was never able to tell anyone about how I felt towards her because I didn’t trust anyone. I had seen other people having their secrets go around to everyone because they had told one of their friends and that kind of scared me. Every girl I have spoken to since then I have lost interest in even though they were all beautiful, smart and funny with no defects. If it isn’t her I just can’t fall in love with anyone. She was my one true love.
