one of my roommates (Ed) moved in and brought his money problems with him. he's been late on paying his monthly portion of rent almost every single month since he's moved in. granted, there was a period when he was switching jobs, so that was kind of expected. However, even when his new job was steady, he was still late on rent, until I took over handling the rent payment and I told the whole house that no one is allowed to be late on rent any more.
fast forward a couple months, and now his wages are being garnished because he signed up for a predatory loan from a buy-here-pay-here car lot years ago, so he just discovered he's almost $40k in debt for a car he doesn't even have anymore.
he's still working, but a good chunk of his money is being garnished, so now he decided to go through bankruptcy, but this process is taking forever and it feels like he's basically given up on trying to pay rent. he's buying playing cards for magic, buying drink at the bar, ordering door dash and other shit and it's starting to really irritate me. almost to the point where I get pissed off just looking at him.
the problem is that one of my other roommates (chuck) is babying him and not holding him accountable for his fuck ups. they work together, so Ed has never had a reason to get a car, even when is brother and I offered to let him use ours if he helped us fix them.
when I suggested Ed get a second job, I got an insane amount of push back from chuck and so the other option is to split his part of rent with the rest of the house while this whole bankruptcy thing goes through, but I don't think that's fair to the rest of the house, especially since another roommate (Daisy) is working and going to school at the same time, so they are essentially working two jobs and supporting Ed financially.
how do I get Ed to get off his lazy ass and pick up a second job?

It’s just frustrating seeing all y’all have a startup. I’m jealous. I have been working nonstop 70 to 80hrs a week all across the country performing inspections. I have missed my kids growing up and still have nothing to show for it. I get paid pretty well but still broke and in bankruptcy cause I finally started a job a home and can’t make ends meet. I always wanted to be my on boss but I just never have any good ideas.. I really believe I would be successful if I just could come up with an idea.. For example.. I had one idea about starting a different type of insurance company that actually insures your hair if you lose it when you get older.. I actually think you could get a lot of clients that way especially if it’s hereditary. However I just can’t figure out out to actually start it considering I’m not in insurance and have know idea to make profit on it.. I’m not looking for sympathy I just want to say I admire y’all for taking the risk and doing it! If y’all need a business partner please hit me up!! I’m more motivated than anyone you know and ready to start something special! I don’t want handouts I just realized I’m never going to be able to start something on my own and am willing to ride the coattails of one of you and help you make your startup a huge success! Hopefully this falls under the umbrella of what is acceptable to post here. There are many elements to this but it's come to a head emotionally for me so I figured I'd come here to seek out anybody with advice and/or shared experiences.
In short, my single mom (60+) has been a gambling addict for as long as I remember. While growing up, she was supportive in some ways, but would often neglect me to gamble. She quit for a short period and then went right back to it. From the time I had a bank account (maybe 13 or 14), she would constantly borrow my money or pawn my possessions to get money to gamble. This created a lot of depression/anxiety growing up which still exists in varying degrees to this day and has made our relationship strained. It's never been outwardly hostile or argumentative, but I really feel no desire to get close to her after getting burned over and over. Honestly, it's hard for me to even feel like I love her.
Fast forward to now, I'm recently separated from my ex (divorce in progress - that hasn't been too messy all things considered thankfully but some of our problems definitely stemmed from the habits/behaviors I picked up growing up) and have finally gotten a stable job after years of being in a career path that didn't offer me any financial stability. This was a huge detriment to my mental health since my environment growing up was so financially unstable despite my mom always having a good corporate job - I don't know exactly how much she made, but by the time she left that job must've been making close to or around six figures in a medium-cost-of-living area and still declared bankruptcy at some point when I was young.
She held off for a while, but now that she KNOWS I have a job, she's right back to asking me for money - hundreds of dollars at a time. She essentially always gives it back to me with some interest for the trouble, but I can't help feel that she put on a face of wanting to be supportive and help out when I was splitting with my ex and moving cross country for my new job just so I could go back to being the piggy bank for her. She constantly has a "woe is me" attitude about everything wrong with her life even though, as far as I can tell, essentially all of those problems stem from her addiction and she refuses to explicitly acknowledge or deal with that. I know addiction is complex but I'm feeling less and less motivated to deal with someone who refuses to get their shit together.
This is all to say that, with my mom getting up there in age somewhat, I can't decide if I need to be the bigger person and babysit her to stop gambling and stop lending her money which enables her, or if I honestly just want to cut her off. I can't help but think that maybe I'll regret it later on when she passes, but while it wasn't all bad growing up, the track record stems towards the negative and I feel a lot of resentment about how she treated and continues to treat me. When she started asking for money again, it welled up so many anxious feelings from my childhood that had been suppressed and I just shut down any emotional engagement that I could possibly muster up with her.
Happy to give more context but hopefully that gives a decent picture of where I'm at. Thanks for any thoughts.

I am looking to get another federal job (Less physical) and I would love to hear some thoughts or comments based on my unique situation.
These are some things about me:

• Currently working as a mail carrier for the post office (Money is good, but hate the work life balance)
  
• Graduated with a bachelors degree in Criminology & Law
  
• Before working at the post office I used to work in the finance industry helping people with their retirement accounts and buying or selling stocks.
  
• Because of a series of unfortunate events I needed to filed for bankruptcy (Chapter 13) and this bankruptcy it is still pending since I am making payments each month.

I come from the world of Sharepoint and .Net development, and I have studied and worked with devops. I already have the AZ-900 certification and I thought about learning something about DevOps Engineer.
In my work I helped with processes with layout, states and rules, as well as permissions for users. In addition to creating integrations with other systems using an API with C#. Does this fall under devops engineer?
Analyzing the certification options I saw that there is Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert - AZ-400 and it seems to make sense, but I don't know if what I did (manage processes and access, in addition to API consumption) fits here. There seems to be more, I don't know.
Looking at this AZ-400 exam, I see that there are 2 certifications indicated as prerequisites, with only 1 required to obtain this title of DevOps Engineer Expert.
Does it matter if you take the AZ-104 (Azure Administrator Associate) or the AZ-204 (Azure Developer Associate)? Does it really depend on your profile?
One last question would be about the Azure Devops Service that I researched and found layout things in addition to using the API. Is this while in the Devops Engineer or something else?

Ok so, I enjoy Azure so I’m thinking AZ-104, 300/301, 800/801, 500. Then SC-900, 300, 400.
But then I like networking so I’m thinking CCNA, CCNP, CCIE-Infrastructure, CCIE-Wireless.
Then, Fortinet NSE 4-7.
Once I get back on hopefully a better ADHD pill I can start my journey. Where I live jobs for Azure also deal with networks and vice versa. I’m expecting 2-3 years for all these certs. Is this too much? Should I just pick one route and stick to it, is this reasonable? I’m struggling to find a route to go because the job description have such a mixture of them.

I’m failing at my job. It’s actually a decent job with a great money potential, but my anxiety and frankly probably just straight up laziness prevented me from performing the way I should have been. It’s like something in the universe is keeping me from doing what I need to do to provide for my family.
I was driving the other day and I almost got into a bad accident. Instead of being scared or mad or whatever the normal emotion would’ve been, my immediate thought was “that probably would’ve been for the best.” I’m not suicidal, I’m not hoping to die or anything, I’ve just started to realize that my life insurance is more valuable than my pathetic attempts at providing for my family.
Idk what advice I’m asking for. After that near accident, that thought scared me. I know my kids need me, so I immediately scheduled a Dr on Demand call with a psychiatrist. I’ve never had any mental healthcare in my life, but I know I need to do this for my children. The psychiatrist asked me 5 questions and prescribed escitalopram. I felt unhelped and rushed, maybe even brushed off. So I scheduled an appointment with a therapist for tomorrow.
I guess if anyone has any recommendations on telecom business sales careers near Indianapolis, that would be so helpful. Or if anyone has ever been in a similar situation, I just need help. Any wisdom or reassurance would be great.
I cried putting my kids to bed the other night and I just couldn’t tell them why. I just couldn’t tell them that their daddy is too much of a fucking loser to give them the life they deserve. Hi everyone!
I`ve been lurking here for a bit and I figure, now is my time to shine! 😅😭 First of all, I`m nearly 40 and I have only recently learned of the language to describe my upbringing and my relationship with my mother. Has this happened to anyone else? I thought my parents just sucked. I had no idea I was being parentified, gaslit and taken advantage of(and still am by my mother).
Little background: I`m the eldest child in my family. My brother is 5 years my junior. My parents married young (17&19) and my mom divorced my dad when I was 12. Also note: I grew up in a Hispanic American household, which added to the situation for me, as if you know, the sons in these households are often doted upon and the daughters are second class citizens who at the same time get dumped with a lot of responsibility.
Before my parents divorce, my mom confided in me at about age 10-12 about her marriage with my dad, how she wanted to leave, abuse, etc.(then after the divorce confided in my about her dating life, abortion, other personal matters). I encouraged her to divorce him and she eventually did. These days she says that none of that ever happened, that she credits her divorce to her male friends at the time(oh yeah, my mother is a lowkey misogynist). Ever since the divorce, I`ve had to sort out my mom's finances because she is irresponsible(bankruptcy, prone to overspending, prone to being scammed). She has borrowed money from me since I started working at 15. I made the mistake of one time co-signing for her on a purchase and had to end up paying for it all to avoid messing up my credit because she refused to pay.
I moved away when I was 24 and was away from my mom for 13 years, during which time she still borrowed money, came to me with her problems, asked me to do things for her, stressed me out by trying to figure out her life from another state. I recently moved back after going through my own divorce and living with her has been a big challenge. I`m hoping to move out sooner rather than later(getting my life together to leave a very expensive California), but in the interim, it is very frustrating. Today I feel like I`m on the verge of tears still having to be the parent in this relationship. I still have to handle events that she cannot herself, read paperwork, make sure she isn`t getting herself into deeper issues with her finances. All of this while trying to remain calm while I deal with her because she gaslights me and makes me feel like I`m the one with the bad attitude. I have to speak to her gently and like a child so that she doesn't get upset.
Anyway. Sorry for the rant. I wanted to come here to vent and also connect with people who understand. At this point, I know it will never change. I have accepted that. My goal is to move on with my life and help when I can but not overextend myself when I move out. It's unfortunate that I didn`t get parents who were reliable(haven't spoken to my dad in about 15 years. That is its own bullshittery). The end.

So I want to start using taz .1% again after a 4 month break from retinoids but I’m using AzA 15%. Should I use them on different days in the beginning until my skin adjusts to the Taz again? When I started using both (one in am, one in pm) then progressed to AzA in AM + PM, I started to really get irritated (or purge I’m not sure tbh but I was really flaky and dry).
I don’t want to buy/try any new products during this time since I want to only use things I know don’t break me out/irritate me.
I’m using the vanicream daily face moisturizer and purito centella barrier cream for extra hydration and barrier support. I also have the LRP cicaplast and etude house toner. Would anyone be willing to help me put together a routine to minimize irritation with the products I have listed?

Long story short, my mother is dying of ovarian cancer, probably in the next couple days and she is completely nonresponsive now. There is no will as far as I know. She has some money in savings and checking, not sure exactly how much, and a car. Should be able to cover the expenses for her burial at least, with some left over. No debts that I'm aware of. My older brother is a diagnosed schizophrenic, now homeless, and meth and weed user, and unfortunately she was completely responsible for his finances, despite me pleading her for ages to get him a fiduciary. He was totally dependent on her in every way. He gets social security for his disability. In my aunts words, handing him any money from her would be like handing him a loaded gun. I'm not sure what to do here. He does have a mental health case manager but she's not been very helpful with the whole situation. I'm wondering what my options and responsibilities are and how to handle all this. State is AZ if that matters.

Continue the grind! I made it through yet another week! I would like to talk about last week's matchup: It was a humbling defeat where I lost 3-6. The few categories I won were SB, Saves, K. We tied in wins with 7 for each of us. (Incredibly high amount of wins) My ERA and WHIP were massive because of my "Aces" not performing like it. Kirby, Gauseman and Ragans all did bad. People made a big fuss about me "winning those trades" a few weeks ago, but actually if I had Lugo and some of those other names I would have won this week.... Still long term I should be just fine. Oh McArthur also inflated my ratios. Walker was useful to help me with those wins. RP Neris somehow got 2 of them? Fedde continues to shine just like his KBO numbers and I'm much higher on him than most others are. On offense I barely got enough SB actually. Then really did NOT hit for high average. The two standouts were Yandy Diaz and Campusano! Ruiz was a terrible add and recently cut him. He hasn't played in 5 games. Time to shake this loss off and focus on the future.
No trades to report on this week. I was slightly less active trading and sending offers out this past week than I usually am. I still intend on selling high on Jon Gray and possibly Crochet (cuz innings limits concerns), and my streamer who just had an awesome start TUES Gavin Stone. Three for 1 package deal of course. I will be going after those buy low SP. I have no issues holding onto Jon Gray or Crochet either.
My matchup for this current week features an opponent who has only 22sb on the season compared to my 39. They only have hit for .243 average compared to my .251 so I feel pretty confident I can win at least those 2 offensive categories. Since we are two days in I'm actually ahead in runs at this moment too, however I doubt that will last since they are 4th in overall runs on the season. For pitching I'm absolutely dominant in the season stats. I am the LEADER in every single category. Pretty awesome considering the way I started at the draft! (It helps that players I took were absolutely incredible to start the year and I have streamed in many strong names). A deeper look on the pitching though they have 7 starts remaining vs my 5. I'm severely ahead thus far though with 4 wins, 26k, 0.94era, 0.70whip. So I absolutely have no real need to stream more SP. This is the manager that I traded some of my former SP like Tanner Houck, Seth Lugo, Jordan Hicks and Spencer Turnbull. They only have 2 closers compared to my 3 so I like my odds there too. I do predict a likely 7-3 victory for me this week.
In terms of the moves I have made already this week and my future moves this week: I secured a real nice speed and contact hitter in Josh Lowe! Feels like he will fit it on my squad perfectly! And it gets rid of my weakest hitter Ruiz. When I added in Dairon Blanco it's purely a speed play really. He may still be replaceable if this weekly matchup is close in runs and I need them later in week. Sal Frelick is an option to re add as well as other leadoff hitters across the majors. (Frelick hasn't been batting leadoff) I'm glad I held the line on Fedde and Crochet. I almost was going to drop them to stream in more starting pitchers. Late in the week I knew it was close in wins and I had no chance to win the ratios so I streamed in a few extra SP and cut Taillon. I certainly could have tried harder to "sell high" on him. Gavin Stone is fine on my roster, but I may actually add a pitcher with higher upside to both dangle in trades and/or just keep on team. I been in talks to obtain Jarren Duran or Brice Turang (both owned by the same manager) so that might be something that happens for the next update!
Bit of strategy talk here regarding my team build. The goal of a punt power build is to win 2 offensive categories (Ideally 3 eventually, R, AVG, SB) and win 4-5 pitching categories. (If you are able to obtain closers you have upside to win 5 pitching cats, if you punt saves then your upside is 4 and you would be more consistently likely to win WINS and K categories) I technically currently have the upside to win all 5 pitching and 2 hitting categories. (If I gain runs value I would even have maximum upside of 8 categories! 5+3=8) Remember that in category leagues you ONLY NEED TO WIN 6 categories folks! This is the benefit of punting! (And technically in h2h playoffs you can have a tie 5-5 and still advance to next round due to season standings and matchup ranking!) I think punting gives you less variance than other builds? Or maybe this less variance is just from having high AVG contact hitters? Discuss? (Could be an ongoing discussion throughout the season)
There is an interesting topic to bring up regarding trading for hitters who fit the "punt power" type of team build. I think buying low on Kwan and Trea Turner now become viable possibilities for my team and other punt power teams that may exist out there! If you have any other names that could be buy low, I'm all ears. Remember to always keep an eye out for prospects coming up who have the skills that you want/need! Sometimes you can trade away your current assets that you have for upgrades at weak positions on your team and then fill those holes of the guys you traded away with prospects who are coming up soon or have already come up. (Or a hot waiver wire bat that will fill in temporarily) In this way you become a team with "less weaknesses" (Of course that advice can apply to all sorts of type of team builds in head to head category leagues). What this means for this Undraftables team is I may be able to flip my pitching assets for hitting upgrades that give the full trifecta of RUNS, AVG, SB. (Corbin Caroll firmly on my future radar) Maybe I should already be sending feelers, hmmm...
Overall, continue to be quite happy with my team's performance and strategy, (despite last week's loss). As mentioned my goal is to win by a score of 6-4 or tie 5-5, but eventually will have upside to win 7-3 or even 8-2. I'm willing to make adjustments for each week and consider player recommendations to achieve that goal. So far, this has gone better than I expected (whereas this was tougher in the NBA)! One of the bigger takeaways you can glean from this strategy is that there are numerous ways to win a category league. I have won with punt power strategy for 3-4 years now so for me it is "proven winner". (Notate that this punt power strategy has NOT been tested in Roto YET. I plan to test that next year. Is this the best way to "punt power"? No, remember this was an "extra challenge" that I set forth upon myself.) You really don't have to go "Undraftables" (hard mode) like I have! A big takeway is that having superstars (or stars) undeniably will help a build like this do even better (Ronald Acuna, Elly De La Cruz, Witt, Corbin Carroll, etc), but you don't necessarily "need" those superstars. Instead you just need to have the right build or combination of players and a focus on your matchups. (In fantasy and MLB) There are various "useful" players with skill sets that are still worthy. You don't always need "The best player" in everything. (At least NOT IN A CATEGORY LEAGUE) If you have suffered severe injuries to some power hitters (like Trout, Casas, Royce Lewis, Josh Jung) you could transition and/or trade into a "punt power build" to try it out? (Or that could be something you consider further down the road in the season too) If you need help on how to do it, I'm your guy!

Long story short, my mother is dying of ovarian cancer, probably in the next couple days. There is no will as far as I know. She has some money in savings and checking, not sure exactly how much, and a car. Should be able to cover the expenses for her burial at least, with some left over. No debts that I'm aware of. My older brother is a diagnosed schizophrenic, now homeless, and meth and weed user, and unfortunately she was completely responsible for his finances, despite me pleading her for ages to get him a fiduciary. He was totally dependent on her in every way. He gets social security for his disability. In my aunts words, handing him any money from her would be like handing him a loaded gun. I'm not sure what to do here. He does have a mental health case manager but she's not been very helpful with the whole situation. I'm wondering what my options and responsibilities are and how to handle all this. State is AZ if that matters.

There is no Chinese brand in the US. Except the Volvo / Polestar in some way, they are Swedish brand but are majority owned by Geely. Some of the Volvo, Polestar are imported from China will be affected. However, Volvo already has a factory in Ghent, Belgium, and a factory in Charleston, South Carolina. So they already has a solution. Polestar also has a factory in Busan, Korea.

Tesla and Ford both use battery from CATL, the largest EV battery manufacturer. Same as Vinfast. Vinfast use CATL and Gotion battery. Chinese EV battery tariff will increase from 7.5% to 25% and this will affected all. But the other car makers are strong, they can pass the cost to consumers or absorb the cost. In contrast, Vinfast has higher manufacturing cost and this will only further make the US loss bigger.
As analysts at Forbes pointed out, the 100% tariff on Chinese imported cars is a preventive measure, and it does not change the dynamic in the US much as there is virtually no Chinese EV cars there. This is a fact.
In America, Tesla is still king. It is stupid to think Americans will abandon Volvo, Polestar to flock to Vinfast instead. After the new EV rule, Vinfast will incur more loss in the US with increased cost and more price pressure from Tesla.
