If you've read this far, then you're interested in the DEF CON convention, and you're looking for information. You want to plan for your upcoming trip. You've come to the right place. This post is trying to bring everything DEF CON together for you.
You can break down DEF CON activities into two categories, DEF CON, and Villages.
DEF CON - defcon.org has info on these * Four DEF CON talk tracks, Forum List, Schedule - brief talks 1/2 to 2 hours long * Workshops - longer, more detailed, hands on, lasting half a day. These have limited seating. Workshop Registration Opened July 5 Noon PDT. These are all Sold Out! * Demo Labs - brief demonstrations for people to show off their project * Paid Training - 2 day training sessions on the Mon and Tue after DEF CON. There will be an additional cost for these. * Contests - various contests, some lasting all 4 days of DEF CON, some short time on stage * CaptureTheFlag - The year end final rounds for qualifying teams of the CTF being run by Nautilus Institute, Twitter @Nautilus_CTF. * Social Events, Meetups, on stage Music, Parties, etc. - Forum List
Villages - Each Village has it's own sources of info, best sources would usually be the villages own Website and Twitter account - See below for tables of links to these * Each Village, as it's name may imply, specializes in a topic or aspect of security or computers * DEF CON provides space and support for the Villages * The Villages are NOT run by DEF CON * The Villages are run and staffed by volunteers separate from DEF CON * Each Village has it's own separate Call For Papers and other activities * Each Village has it's own web site, Twitter account, and schedule of events/Talks/Parties/CTF/etc. or whatever activities are run by that Village

FAQ highlights
There's links to multiple FAQs about attending DEF CON at the bottom of this page, But here's a few high points that warrant a mention at the top. * Nothing is as close or quick as you think it is. Just walking across the street or next door can be a 20 minute walk * You're going to do a LOT of walking, so bring comfortable and well broken in shoes. There are scooter rental places in Las Vegas for the mobility impaired * Don't underestimate how HOT it can get outside at Las Vegas! It can be 110F during the day, and still be 90F at 3am. This is hot enough that it doesn't matter that it's a 'dry' heat! * Don't underestimate how COLD it get in an over air-conditioned conference room. Consider bringing a light jacket or windbreaker to stuff in the bottom of your pack * Keep hydrated. Always have a water bottle with you to sip from * 3-2-1 rule. at least three hours of sleep, two meals, and one shower every day * Don't try to see EVERYTHING, it'll never work! You'll just drive yourself crazy and to exhaustion * Don't over plan. Be flexible. If you're having a good time someplace it's not always a good idea to rush someplace else * Don't be afraid to introduce yourself to someone. This is a good opportunity to network, meet new people, and learn new thingsMaps of DEF CON

### How the hackathon works
#### The tools that semantify the IPCC reports
semanticClimate is hands-on, practical demonstration where you'll learn how to turn (horribly hobbled) PDF files into clean, free-flowing HTML -- *enriched* with annotated links to wikidata entries (and more!). The result can be used to build a semantic index and annotation of the report – effectively bring the dead PDF to interactive life.
We'll be using Google Colab and Jupyter Notebooks, so no software needs to be installed on your local machine!
#### The objectives of this hackathon
- **Create dictionaries:** The first objective is to use the current toolset to create a dictionary of "Named Entities", terms, and jargon found in each chapter of the IPCC report. This will require chapter champions and volunteers to work together in teams on the different chapters. The dictionaries are the first building block to create semantic meaning of the chapters.
- **Improve the workflow:** The second objective is for participants to give feedback and help write the tool workflow and hackathon process documentation so we can improve the tools and scale the process.
#### Sub-tasks
- The core tooling of Jupyter Notebooks, Google Colab, and semanticClimate repo needs to continue to be tested. It needs more documentation in the Notebook cells/steps.

We have been in our new build home for one year now and after we first closed on the home, I immediately went and bought 511 Impregnator Sealer and went at it.
In all the bathrooms and the mudroom, they put down ITSG Strata Bianco and ITSG Almalfi Stone Bianco Scala. I am not sure what the correct term is, but these tiles weren't the glossy type, so I used a large foam sponge and spread it over grout and tile in all these areas.
In the Kitchen, they used ITSG Wall Collection Glossy White Ultra, so I used a grout sealing brush and only sealed along the grout. Any dribbles were promptly wiped off before it could dry and harden on the glossy surface.
I believe that the instructions say to redo it once a year and I am wondering if I need to do any prep work like use some sort of cleaner to strip/remove any old 511 sealer? Also, how long will it take for the smell to go away? When I did it the first time around, we weren't living in the home yet, so I just sealed and let it sit for a week before we came back to the house. Now, we have 2 babies, so I don't want them breathing this stuff in, so I am wondering if I need to get them out of the house for a few days?

when will I book out when I enlist to BMT
- it is usually roughly 2 weeks to 2.5 weeks base on which date you enlist
- during the briefing from your school CO they will tell you when too
what item should I pack for BMT enlistment (credit to Towa who post this on the discord server)
BMT PACKING LIST* = Optional items
* = Optional items
- At least 2 toilet paper
- At least 10 Hangars and 15-20 clothes pegs
- Febreeze (For your dirty DRY clothes. Don't spray when it's wet and sweaty)
- At least 2 packs of Wet wipes for cleaning
- Non-permanent marker* (Optional but will be useful for your RAC card to wipe off the permanent ink or alternatively, use a hand sanitiser to wipe off)
- Lighter (For your 10 Pack/Mission Essentials)
- Extra pair of Garters (Easy to lose)
- At least 2 Portable Charger (No wall plugs)
- A lot of zip lock bags (To bring back ur dirty clothing home to wash)
- Clothes detergent (Either liquid or powder. Up to your preference.)
- Toiletries like toothbrush, toothpaste and mouthwash
- Body wash/soap (Preferably a 2 in 1 shampoo to save time)
- Air tight containetupperware with ur dry food/snacks inside (BMT strict rules only allows dry food that are stored in tupperware)
- Coins for vending machine if they let you use* (optional, don't bring so much because not all coys allow)
- IC and wallet with at least one $2 dollar note for haircut
- A few Air fresheners for ur locker* (optional, quality of life)
- Pen
- Slippers (Don't use the saf issued sandals for personal use. Those sandals get stinky after few uses)
- Don't bring water bottle but you can bring a disposable water bottle if you worry that you will get thirsty during enlistment
- Earphones (Can bring bluetooth earphones)
- Cheap DIGITAL watch (For outfield esp the alarm function) (You can get one cheap Casio digital watch from any army shop)
- Spectacles must be entirely black frame (Plastic frame)
- Plasters, shavers and nail clipper (Bring because there are random bearing checks for nails and facial hair)
- Black electrical tape/Black tape* (Optional but you will need more later. Get the small sized black tape [smaller than your palm] , not the big ones.) (For general purposes)
- Transparent tape (Your bunk will thank you. It's to tape up your 10 pack/Mission Essentials)
- Tissue paper (You can use your toilet paper as tissue so up to you if you want to bring a separate one)

- 1 pack of 4 AA Batteries* (Optional, it's for your torchlight and weapon LAD)

When will I get my allowance?
- usually it is very 10th of the month
- if I remember correctly no combat pay when you rec
Can I bring in snacks?
- recommend not to bring in during your 1st day in tekong
- depend on each coy how they set rules for this
- usually should be dry food and items that have longer shelf life
- during BMT if I remember correctly there will be 1-2 times when you will ask to pen down your interest for command school
- usually to those who say no to commander school will high chance don't get
- of course you can put you only want SCS but not OCS or OCS not SCS or both
- to enter commander school is base on your performance in BMT (don't wayang pls. just do what you need to do)
What time should I wake up before fall in at xxxx time in the morning?
- for eg your sgt tell you fall in at 0545 then make sure that you fall in at 0540
- take note that your sgt may do a time sync at platoon level (strongly encourage you all to bring in a digital watch)
- in army usually we use 24 hours format (do spend some time to get use to it)
- waking up wise if you plan to brush teeth I would suggest 0510-0520 (you may need 5-10mins to pack and check your stuff b4 fall in)
- take note that if you need to wear smart 4 or long 4 then you need to wake up earlier to dress up and I will suggest 0500
Can I bring a alarm clock to tekong?
- yes you can just bring a small size
- you can set the alarm but don't be a cb until your alarm wake the whole bunk up but you still sleep
- for those on the upper deck please ensure that you put your alarm clock nicely if not later drop down in the middle of night (it may cause scare feeling to people and disturb ppl sleep)
Where can I get my army stuff?

- I personally suggest 133 trading if you ever visit army market

Does your educational level matter or will I be look down by ppl
- I won't deny that educational level play a part if you want to go to command school
- other then that all serve 2 years only really don't matter that much. all man rank only
- if got ppl look down then just ignore them. :)
What type of underwear is allowed?
- boxer is NOT ALLOWED because commander say trap heat (don't try to smoke wear PT short can kena caught liao)

- yes you can. just ensure you can fall in on time liao
- I would suggest to have a quick one ( don't be my stupid platoon mate during my bmt bath until forget timing and end up late 20mins then all of us face the floor)
Can I bring smart watch to BMT?
- As per understanding you can however I don't think they will allow you to wear it around
- if you really want to bring then you really take care as it really go missing then you really heart pain
- you also won't want your smart watch kena mud or soil too
- I would suggest just bring in Casio army boy watch
Is there any swimming lesson at BMT?
- when I was a chao rec there is lesson and for those cannot swim one got a few simple swimming lesson (frog style)
- sometime we got recovery walk during our swimming lesson
- swimming trunk will be provided(if there is any changes please let us know)
- for those cannot open eyes de. please bring in google
Will I get NS allowance when I PTP/is PTP worth or not?
- yes you will still get allowance for that 2 months
- PTP train your fitness and pace will be slower it will be better for those who don't like fast pace
- take note that PTP is who those fail PTP during pre-enlistment period
Guard Duty in Tekong
- weekday - 12 hours while weekend -24 hours
- remember to have enough powerbank to charge your phone can use during free time
- can go vending machine break (so bring some coin)
- if your sgt or anybody senior tell you don't go in that room or dun mess up with whatever just listen. don't ask why
- is good to do some praying before going for your rounds.
- be responsible for whatever is issue to you during guard duty

Provided by u/AkaixSG- Bring a day's worth of newspaper to put at the top of the metal cabinet to avoid excessive dust accumulating. Or you can also use it to wipe the windows.
- Bring along a useless rag or cloth to do your area cleaning.
- Scotch brite scrubs to remove stubborn carbon stains during your rifle cleaning after live firing.
- please handle your rounds and blanks carefully. ensure after any range or anything. ensure that they are not in your possession. after you declare liao then anything found on you is a chargeable offense
- no in camp photo. I know some of us here want to take photo as memories. please don't do it. any in camp photo found is a chargeable offense (official event then can take photo in camp)
- please make your phone as clean as possible if any porn or naked photo found on you also tio charge
- please ensure that you don't leak any OSA info too. (just keep it to yourself)
- please take a photo of your pink IC (you may need to date of issue info in the future)
