I need help with my frozen account. According to the support team, it was frozen because it didn't like when I attempted to add my direct deposit information for transfer to my bank account. When I got the e-mail it asked for a bank statement, which isn't a problem, but it also asked for a photo ID, which I do not have. This is seemingly the only way to unfreeze my account, so I attempted to close the account and start over, which it won't let me do with a frozen account. I attempted to change all the info so I could make a new account with the same info, but it won't let me change the phone number. It's possible that this is because I'm trying to use an online burner number, but the error message is just "something went wrong, try again" which is really vague and I don't know what it's talking about. I really need a venmo account asap because I'm about to start a side hustle and I already tried making a paypal account and I screwed it up by trying to make it a business account which I can't change now, and I can't use the @ I need anymore, and besides that, I also need my payment QR code on a card since I don't carry a smartphone. I filed my federal and state (California) taxes back in March 2024 and owed taxes in both Federal and State. I paid the federal taxes by credit card, however since the state taxes due didn't allow credit card payment, I selected pay by mail.
I owed $9 to the state and sent the check. Fast forward to today, I received a tax refund check for $9. Why was I sent this check if I was the one that owed money on my return, did they screw up? How can I verify that they show my payments for both federal and state were received? Not sure if I should deposit this.

Here is what I see on the contract

Have idea for very small “tool” rental buisness by mail. The tool I wanted to loan out costs about $600 but I would like to charge $75 for a one week rental. I would like to hold a deposit for the time it takes to ship to customer, customer use, ship back. The “hold” would need to be 2 weeks minimum. If I have to capture the deposit then refund it, the 3% fee (or what ever it is) on the deposit would eat up $35 of the proposed $75 rental fee. $25 of that rental charge was already going to pay for round trip shipping. So I was thinking I’d be getting closer to $47 per rental after shopping and 3% (of $75) processing fee. Processing the. $575 deposit then refunding it, would make it closer to $12 per rental after shipping and processing fees. I could live with $47. Not worth it for $12. Any Ideas?

Ok so I mailed my 2022 return in 3/27. Middle/end of April I check IRS website and I see that the account record had a 810 refund freeze code, but states no return filed. I call the IRS and the rep goes "oh, it's just a glitch it'll go away on its own. ok i guess... that following Monday the code is still there and Refund tracker tool says "Identity Verification needed". ok cool, I go to the IRS building and verify. The in person rep goes "we couldn't verify your routing and account numbers because there's all Xs" so i tell her "well yeah because HRBlock application says because you guys are already processing 2023 returns that I had no choice but to get a check, direct deposit option wasn't even available for me to check the box". she says my identity is verified and my return was released for processing. the code is still on my return and is still marked as no return filed. I call the IRS back and they're saying I'm receiving a 3176c letter and I should amend my return due to the amount.
I'm scratching my head because I filed my 2023 return with qualified dividends and got 30k back. My 2022 return was for about $20k and I filed the exact same way . How come this return is being flagged if the amount is smaller than the current year? and what do i do? nothing was filed incorrectly at all. I'm really not trying to wait 180 days for processing but I'm not trying to be bullied into amending a return either :( if it was a glitch would it have resolved by now ?

"The system has detected suspicious withdrawal submissions/account activities in your account. We have temporarily restricted the withdrawal function in order to secure the safety of your assets. To reactivate the withdrawal function, please check your mailbox and reply to us with the required supporting documents for verification."But I did not receive any mail with any document request. Contacting the Live Chat, the agent "Ihor K." told me, that the internal team is already working on the case. However, at this time I do not even see the case in the help center. He told me that i will take about 30-60 minutes to appear there, but it did not. Furhter he told me that the team will reach me out within 1-3 hours as my case has been prioritized.
But reading several posts here on reddit and around the internet makes me doubt about the speed.
I am extremely demoralized and don't know what to do. I am looking for any kind of help to get my money back from ByBit.
Please tell me what can I do?

So this wasn’t actually today, but back in 2020 after I got married and had my first kid.
In the summer 2020 I was still in school and going into my senior year of college. I got married at the beginning of the year, and had my first kid a few weeks prior to this incident. I was working as a delivery driver and trying to find another stream of income. I decided to start tutoring online. I was getting my tutoring service off the ground and a man reached out to me to tutor his son over the course of a couple months. I asked for payment upfront and was being sent a specific type of check that’s meant to be coming from an education savings account. This pinged my scam radar to start being careful. I checked with my dad about the legitimacy of this type of check for starters, and he confirmed that they are rare but yes a real thing. This check was to the tune of $1600, so I knew I had to be careful.
Well the check finally comes in the mail and I deposit it into the bank. I start to plan the lessons for the first tutoring sessions, and then a few days later I get a message from the dad saying his son has covid and he needs to cancel all the sessions and get his money back. Since I was prepared for this outcome, I call my bank, we will call it LArvest. I get ahold of a representative, and explain my suspicions of the check possibly being fraudulent. I explain that I want the funds from the check withheld from my account until the check has 100% cleared. The rep confidently reassures me that, the money will not show up in my account until the check has fully cleared.
Over the course of the next 10 days, I am being pestered by the “dad” to send him back the money. I tell him that I am waiting for the check to clear and the money to be made available to provide the refund. Finally after about 2 weeks from when I deposited the check, I see the money in my account. I figure this means that this wasn’t a scam and there really is a poor kid that has covid and I send the money back to the “dad”. 2 days later there is an additional $1600 charge on my account. I call LArvest and they state: “Oh yeah, that check didn’t clear. The account it was from didn’t have sufficient funds.” No matter what I said, I was told that there was nothing they could do since the check was marked NSF. So I went and reported the charge as fraudulent and gave the investigator everything I knew including the information that I was told by the bank the money wouldn’t be deposited without the check clearing. Well the call recording “couldn’t be found” and I was left on the hook for the full $1600. I obviously no longer bank there and will advise anyone that will listen not to bank with LArvest.
TL;DR: Suspected tutoring client of attempting to scam me. I asked my bank to help me take precautionary measures to protect myself, and they said those measures were in place. Bank lied to me about said measures and end up costing me $1600.

I (27/M) had a friend (25 FTM) who had me help him move from east Texas to Santa Monica.
He had claimed a moving company had quoted him over 20k and it was a little much. That'd hed pay me well for the help.
I help him for a while week getting his stuff ready packing it, loading it in the trailer ECT.
I ended up doing a little bit of the driving my self. But he drove most the way... Not without almost causing some incidents that had me white knuckling my seat belt. But I kept my cool.
We end up getting to Cali, I help him unload and unpack over the course of the next few days. Bathing his dogs, helping clean his dogs throw up and poop, and wiped his cats ass because it was also shitty and he couldn't stand it.
Mind you guys I'm doing all this as I was friends with this guy and not just seeking a bigger check.
Comes the day I'm supposed to leave, and he asks me if I can move his truck and trailer into this narrow drive way.
I'm not sure if readers here are versed with San Vincete rd in Santa Monica, but it's pretty busy and drivers are rude. I wanted to wait way in the evening so I could easily back it in there.
He was rushing me and wanted it done earlier so I just had to pull in, once I was in there was no room to turn and move the trailer with the truck. So I said we both need to grab it and just Man Handle it up the little incline.
He asks if I'm sure we can do it, I said with your help it shouldn't be that bad.
Unfortunately, when we unhitched it it knocked him on his ass then I was over burdened by the weight and fell too.
He ended up getting a little road rash and the trailer skid like a foot. Besides that no property damage, no real physical damage.
And this man gets up all ballistic saying things like "you fucking imbred trash" "call someone with more cells than you to fix this" and just fucked off stuff..
Assuming it was just a heated moment I let it slide, went to the airport, and texted him there about an hour after the incident to say im a day early.
He tells me "that's karma, figure it out"
I reply "Beings you seem to not care about being friends could you at least pay me for the work"
He informed me he wasn't paying me until I dropped off his keys and hauled furniture out of the old house. I said I would before we left.
I went back cleaned the house removed trash and the furniture so he could keep his deposit and found pictures of him pre transition and some mail.
Messaged again very cordially and said do you want these trashed or mailed. And he asked for mailed.
I informed him keys were dropped and I would mail after the weekend. And informed him how to pay me.
He went off one more time about me not completing the job and I'm not paid until the mail is sent.
I told him I can't even get to the post office until I get paid I needed gas, so he said to burn the mail and I would be paid.
I burned it and as soon as I sent the videos I'm blocked on messages and even cashapp.
P.S when I got scratched worse then him helping him pack he said "Builds Character" and I wasn't even complaining.

I told him I can't even get to the post office until I get paid I needed gas, so he said to burn the mail and I would be paid.
I burned it and as soon as I sent the videos I'm blocked on messages and even cashapp.
P.S when I got scratched worse then him helping him pack he said "Builds Character" and I wasn't even complaining.
TLDR; Helped friend move he got a few scratches in the process and now refuses to pay or talk to me

So I'll try to keep this short(ish) as possible just for relevant details. I was supposed to get my tax refund sent directly to my Space coast credit union account by ACH but it got sent to Chase instead via physical check, where I no longer have an account, because the guy filing my taxes forgot to update the return form like he was supposed to (another story but meh).
Chase mailed me a check dated 4/24/2024 with a standard (must be cashed within 180 days) type message I got it from the mail last Saturday and mobile deposit it to Varo immediately (around noonish EST on 5/4). Varo doesn't accept the check until 5/6 (around 10ish PM EST), I know Sunday was not a business day but still a bit odd to take that long for a mobile deposit to be accepted IMO 🤔
But after getting accepted it says funds will not be available until 5/15 . I talked to the Varo App support (which seemed to be AI/canned responses) which basically said they accepted the check on 5/6 and are waiting on Chase to release the funds and I'll get them early if Chase releases them.
I called Chase today to confirm no hold or charge back had been placed on the funds which they confirmed today. The rep also seemed to be saying this usually has to do with the bank accepting the funds, When I was with Chase I seem to recall having all mobile deposits accepted and funds available within 72ish hours or less even when uploaded on non business days (he actually said they quote 5 business days now to their customers)
Seems more or less that each is pointing at the other but my gut seems to think it's Varo causing the hold up here. Truth be told; I have no love for Chase either at this point for multiple unrelated reasons so I'd like to blame them but I honestly don't think it's their fault here.
For anyone curious the refund is around $200. Not a crazy high amount but I could certainly use it right now considering I have just put out 900 bucks in the last week moving into a new place and getting an overdue oil change 😅, especially considering the refund was first sent out 3ish weeks ago now.
I'll include a poll as well for my curiosity as to where everyone think this delay is most likely from.
(For disclosure I've had an account with Varo for around 6 months and my direct deposit from my primary job has been going to them for aroune a month now. I've also had tip money from my second job deposited there for a few months also so its not like im a new or unknown customer even though my credit score sucks)

My mom got suckered by a guy claiming to be Willie Nelson (romance scam) to take a 2nd mortgage out of her house and now she is out 200k on that and has maxed out 3 credit cards. The guy would send deposits to get account and ask her to then send money somewhere else (mail large sums of cash, send crypto, but apple gift cards etc.) which she would do, then the deposits this person made into the account would fail, and she would be stuck owing the money. This happened several times and she should have known better, but she didn't. Now her credit is wrecked and keeping her home in in question as she can't afford to make the payment on her original 1st mortgage and now this 200k 2nd. Does anyone know of a legal path to unwind all of the fraudulent charges? So far neither the bank or CC companies are willing to help her.

2024.05.11 17:01 Sweetpotatowalter Direct deposit issues(need some help)
Basically, I had a checking account with Truist and it ended up dip being negative by a bit, one of my direct deposits went through to it, making it almost positive. But after that, the same day; they closed out my account and sent me a letter in the mail. 2 more paychecks were sent to Truist after that, my employer said they never had received them back. What should I do from here? Will I be able to get that money back or am I out of luck? I have now changed my direct deposit and don’t have an account open with Truist anymore. Since they had closed it out, I did not try to regain access as I was looking to switch banks anyway.
