OpenAI just unveiled GPT-4o, a new advanced multimodal model that integrates text, vision and audio processing, setting new benchmarks for performance – alongside a slew of new features.
The new model:

• GPT-4o provides improved performance across text, vision, audio, coding, and non-English generations, smashing GPT-4T’s performance.
• The new model is 50% cheaper to use, has 5x higher rate limits than GPT-4T, and boasts 2x the generation speed of previous models.
• The new model was also revealed to be the mysterious ‘im-also-a-good-gpt2-chatbot’ found in the Lmsys Arena last week.

Voice and other upgrades:

• New voice capabilities include real-time responses, detecting and responding with emotion, and combining voice with text and vision.
• The demo showcased feats like real-time translation, two AI models analyzing a live video, and using voice and vision for tutoring and coding assistance.
• OpenAI’s blog also detailed advances like 3D generation, font creation, huge improvements to text generation within images, sound effect synthesis, and more.
• OpenAI also announced a new ChatGPT desktop app for macOS with a refreshed UI, integrating directly into computer workflows.

Free for everyone:

• GPT-4o, GPTs, and features like memory and data analysis are now available to all users, bringing advanced capabilities to the free tier for the first time.
• The GPT-4o model is currently rolling out to all users in ChatGPT and via the API, with the new voice capabilities expected to arrive over the coming weeks.

Why it matters: Real-time voice and multimodal capabilities are shifting AI from a tool, to an intelligence we collaborate, learn, and grow with. Additionally, a whole new group of free users (who might’ve been stuck with a lackluster GPT 3.5) are about to get the biggest upgrade of their lives in the form of GPT-4o.

Hi guys, I've come here time to time for the past 7 or 8 months whenever I feel symptoms or anxious and I guess it's time I shared my story, as there could be some things I learned along the way that would be helpful for folks. I'm a 30 year old male. I took minoxidil for 5 years from the age of 25. Once that didn't seem to be working any more I tried to get oral minoxidil and my doctor told me to get on propecia instead. I told her I felt a little scared about that but she said I'd be fine. I've always had a good libido, maybe too good, like bordering on sex obsession.. so I figured if anything a little less libido might do me good. Soon after I started the propecia I got a concussion (mild) from a soccer ball, and that was after a weekend where I tripped on acid, so there were some things going on. I had also had pretty bad food poisoning some months ago that took forever to heal from with some lingering tummy problems. Anyway, I had weird symptoms after the concussion. I almost felt like, euphoric. It felt like my brain was just releasing all of its happy chemicals at once. Part of my euphoria was an absolute disinterest in sex, but I enjoyed that, I felt like I was attaining enlightenment or something. I was glowing and productive. After a week or so all of this went away and I went back to having normal sexual health and normal (bad) mental health and I didn't really think about it again. Fast forward 6 months. I quit my job because I am depressed about it and life in NYC is suffocating me, I want to travel the world before it burns down, in the interim I move back home to get my affairs sorted. I had to dye my hair for some short film, and I hated it, when I cut it my hair didn't look good, seemed I'd lost a lot more than I thought, and that made me sad so I was researching finasteride (does this stuff even work?) and then I accidentally found this community on reddit... and it freaked me out. I had a full blown panic attack reading these posts. Then I started thinking about things that had been happening in my life. Increased anxiety and depression. Chronic prostatitis. And the development of IBS, especially bad after drinking alcohol, which actually led me to give up drinking for a while. My sexual health was fine, but I think the anxiety from reading the reddit posts gave me some weird sexual side effects, not joking. That same day I started feeling an achey tingling in my balls, as if they were swelling up. I remember going on a walk with a girl I was seeing and I just felt so off and couldn't even enjoy walking because of the heaviness of my balls and I didn't want to sleep with her at all anymore. I immediately gave up both fin and min, kind of sad because I had just bought a years supply of the stuff from one of those new websites that makes it easy. So with all this happening, I had also been planing to ride my bicycle around the world. I left for India about a week after cutting the hair drugs and cutting alcohol. And then I'm in India. Without alcohol, my IBS pretty much completely healed. I was making very nice poos. The cycling irritated my prostate though. I started off by going over the Himalayas which involved a lot of climbing and therefore a lot of my groin pushing hard into a bike saddle. Still, I was able to pleasure myself in the tent successfully, which I only did to keep tabs on my progress of course. Things were looking up. Leaving work and NYC and America already did a 180 on all of my mental health issues, as did quitting alcohol. My memory improved. I was reading and writing and thinking clearly. I was a happy guy. After finishing the himalayas I had a few beers about it with some friends to celebrate. A few days later I got some cramps in my abdomen, and then the next day severe food poisoning. Both ends type. So bad. Had to keep going though. I kept cycling through the mountains. For two weeks I had diarrhea, and then that turned into regular old IBS again, like always running to the bathroom never knowing if I'll make it on time and the poop is this sludge like texture. It sucked. I was also sad about my hair, as it looked like I was losing all my gains. I bought a fin/min topical mixture and started using that while I was in a meditation retreat. I started having that weird euphoric feeling again, but I attributed it to the meditation, which was really life changing but no need to elaborate on that. I also started feeling prostatitis again (burning sensation tip of penis, feels like you want to pee). I had fixed the tilt on my bike saddle to eliminate prostate issues so it was weird that it was coming back again. I figured maybe coming from sitting in meditative posture all day. I guess I was in denial, but after about a month or so I figured it must be the finasteride so I gave it up again and switched to just minoxidil. But then, the minoxidil was making me feel weird too. I remember one time, the very same night I applied minoxidil it felt like my asshole was falling out, like I had a rectal prolapse, now I think it's hemorrhoids. I had the hemorrhoid feeling for a while. Keep in mind, my main issue at this time remains the IBS. I also had very low libido but honestly I rarely saw attractive women on my trip so who knows. So I kept cycling, I cycled all the way from the North in KashmiLadakh to Kerala, the south. My IBS never went away. I tried all sorts of things for my hair. I went to an ayurvedic place and they put leeches on my scalp which was hilarious. They also gave me this weird ayurvedic oil with no real instructions. I think that must have had some DHT blocker in it because it gave me the weird feelings too, especially the hemorrhoid feeling. I started drinking oregano oil and taking copious amounts of probiotics, which would always help for a couple days against the IBS but I think the heat of the Indian sun killed them off while they were in my saddle bags. Then I found this new chemical combo in South India, starring redensyl and backed up with procapil and anagain. I figured what the hell why not. It came with a dht blocker gummy vitamin but it was just green tea with biotin and zinc so whatever. I started feeling a lot better on that. One random week I started getting insane erections and it felt like my dick grew an inch. Can't really explain what was going on there. Prior to that the erections were meh and I would cum sometimes in a half-noodle like state which was very sad. Anyway, that didn't last forever. Once I got to the very south I decided I needed a full system reboot and went to another ayurvedic place and got something called a panchakarma. In panchakarma you go on a very restrictive diet and they massage all of your body toxins into your gut, they make you drink a ton of ghee to help do this, and then they purge you, so it all comes out of your butt, and then in my case I got 5 medicated enemas. It's a two week process, sometimes longer. I know it sounds crazy but it definitely makes you feel better. I was also doing yoga and meditating every day which was super helpful. After that my IBS went away. I had to keep to the diet for two weeks after: no sugar, caffeine, gluten, alcohol or meat. After the two weeks I dipped my toes back into all those things and my gut stayed solid. Crazy. I also felt good sexually. I started taking another hair serum, this one with redensyl, anagain, procapil, and pumpkin seed oil. Still felt great. I flew to Malaysia and started cycling there. In Malaysia I just started feeling better and better. No IBS, huge erections again. In fact, I became obsessed with sex again. And it was depressing. I actually started missing the days when I had no libido in India. I was really able to focus on other things. Sex is such a waste of mental energy. I could drink alcohol again. And so I did, and had no issues. Which was great but I also was kind of sad about it, am I just going to be a sex-obsessed booze hound again? Have I learned nothing? Anyway, the story continues. No one is bald in Malaysia so I had to order more of my chemicals to feed my hopeless hair serum addiction. I found a crazy one that was stacked with redensyl, anagain, procapil, baicapil, capixyl, biotin, aminexil, rice water, rosemary oil, and .... saw palmetto. The saw palmetto was maybe .3% so I figured it probably wouldn't have any effect, especially since I was fine with the pumpkin seed oil. Anyway, 10 days into that serum I got the tingly swelly feeling in my balls again and some prostatitis too! Oy, back to the start it would seem. I'm mainly just upset because I ordered 3 bottles of that stuff and had to pay taxes on the import because it came from India, and now I guess I have to throw it all out? Whatever. Anyway, you can call me an idiot, but by using my body as a guinea pig I believe I've uncovered some interesting info for everyone. Just as the early men who figured out which berries were poisonous, I serve humanity with my tragic misadventures. Still cycling, hoping to go around the world and find new ways to mess with my hormones and keep some of my hair. My advice from this, do something to fully cleanse your system, like the panchakarma. We've basically tampered too much with our settings and need to do a factory reset. You can do a lot of that stuff on your own, fasting, purging, enemas. It stimulates your body into healing itself. Hell, go to India. In India doctors actually listen to you and treat you holistically, and everything is cheap! You can get rifaximin for 2 dollars should you desire. You don't need to keep getting gaslit by expensive urologists and gastros in the states your whole life. Just do something crazy. You'll stay depressed if you linger on the internet for too long. And if you're stuck in a job/life you hate, take PFS as a sign and excuse to be selfish and get out of it, think of yourself as a terminally ill person that just wants to live life for the little time they have left. Obviously I still have no idea if any of what I've experienced is actually PFS or if it's maybe related to the original food poisoning or the concussion or maybe even Long Covid. No clue. But I do think a lot of my symptoms have been consistent with what you guys talk about. Either way, whatever it is, treat your body well and you may heal. I hope? I'm currently sitting on a swollen sack hoping that the PFS Gods will be merciful once more, but I know I don't deserve it. My desire to have hair still hasn't gone away, and I keep thinking maybe if I try just one more thing that'll be the thing that works. And that's what keeps pulling me back into this mess. But at the end of the day I can thank PFS for forcing me to make the big life changes that have made me a much happier person today, regardless of the state of my pelvic area.

GPT-4o was announced a few hours ago by OpenAI, and although the announcement livestream is great, the real gold nuggets are in the 22 demo videos they posted on their channel.
I watched all of them, and here are the key takeaways and use cases we all should know. 👍🏻

A. The Ultimate Learning Partner

What is it? Give GPT-4o a view of the math problem you’re working on, or the objects you want to learn the language translation of, and it can teach you like no other tool can.
Why should you care? Imagine when you can hook up GPT-4o to something like the Meta Rayban glasses: then you can always have it teach you about whatever you are looking at. That can be a math problem, an object you want translated, a painting you want the history of, or a product that you want get the reviews of online. This single feature alone has incredibly many use-cases!

B. The Perfect Teams Meeting Assistant

What is it? Having an AI assistant during Teams meetings, whom you can talk to the same way you talk to your colleagues.
Why should you care? Their demo didn’t expound on the possibilities yet, but some of them can be…

• having the AI look up info in your company data and documentation pages (e.g. “what’s the sales from this month last year?”)
• having the AI work on data analysis problems with you (e.g. “create a chart showing sales over the past 5 years and report on trends”)

What is it? Have GPT-4o act like the company you’re interviewing for.
Why should you care? What’s changed is that the AI can now “see” you. So instead of just giving feedback on what you say, it can also give feedback on how you say it. Layer this on top of an AI avatar and maybe you can simulate the interview itself in the future?

D. Your Personal Language Translator, wherever you go

What is it? Ask ChatGPT to translate between languages, and then speak normally.
Why should you care? Because of how conversational GPT-4o has become, the AI now helps not just with translating the words, but also the intonation of what you’re intending to say. Now pair this with GPT-enabled earphones in a few years, and you pretty much can understand any language (AirPods x ChatGPT, anyone?)

What is it? Share screen with your AI partner, and have them guide you through your work.
Why should you care? Now this is definitely something that will happen pretty soon. Being able to “share screen” to your AI assistant can help not just with coding, but even with other non-programmer tasks such as work in excel, powerpoint, etc.

F. A future where AIs interact with each other

What is it? Two GPT-4o’s interacting with each other, that sounds indistinguishable from two people talking. (They even sang a song together!)
Why should you care? Well there’s a couple of use cases:

• can you imagine AI influencers talking to each other live on Tiktok? Layer this conversation with AI avatars and this will be a step beyond the artificial influencers you have today (e.g. the next level of lilmiquela maybe?)

Why should you care? Imagine sending it the visual feed from something like the Meta Rayban glasses, and your AI assistant can literally describe what you’re seeing, and help you navigate your surroundings like never before (e.g. “is what I’m holding a jar of peanut butter, or a jar of vegemite?”). This will definitely be a game-changer for how the visually impaired lives their daily lives.

We booked a package Holiday through Easy Jet and upon arrival at the Hotel, realised it had changed names and was party hotel. This was not the hotel we booked as it should have been a quieter family hotel rather than a music hotel. During our stay, the hotel was hosting a festival, which meant that we had limited use of the outdoor facilities and a lot of noise disruption.
We notified Easy Jet on the day that we arrived and they claimed they were unaware of the hotel name change. They then offered us minimal compensation (this did not even cover 1 nights stay).
On further investigation, we were told the hotel changes to a party hotel every summer. The hotel we booked is not actually available to book on the hotels website at this time of year. So we find it hard to believe Easy Jet did not know and hadn’t had complaints in previous years.
We know others in the hotel have complained. We are looking for some legal advice as to what laws/regulations have been breached and potential action we can take. It would also be useful to see if anyone has experienced similar and got a full refund.

As I seem to be one of the lucky few who received my new Queen Rock Montreal UHD with its packaging mostly intact and discs both playable, here is a comparison of the framing, colours, and editing of four official home video versions.

• Top-left: 2001 4:3 DVD
• Top-right: 2007 16:9 Blu-ray. Wow, these colours are even worse than I remember.
• Bottom-left: 2024 4:3 UHD (SDR)
• Bottom-right: 2024 4:3 UHD (HDR, tone-mapped to SDR) This looks pretty similar to the SDR, so I guess I picked roughly the right tone-mapping settings?

This confirms what I'd expected/hoped, that the 4:3 “full frame” version of the new release is the easy winner in terms of visible area. It has the more or the same amount included on all sides compared to both of the older editions. That said, sometimes all you gain are empty spaces. Other times you get a more complete picture of one of the band members, and I think the film is that much better for it.
You may notice that the 2007 and new Queen Rock Montreal versions have some extra crowd shots, partially or entirely replacing shots of the band which were in the older We Will Rock You releases.
As QPL have previously stated that none of the unused footage exists, I presume these were just lifted from elsewhere in the film.

Smooth idle, heavy misfire in drive. I need help narrowing down symptoms.
Hey all, sorry if this has been asked recently, I couldn't find a post quite like this through search. I have a 2004 Toyota Highlander 3.3 V6. A few months back I had a pretty bad misfire at high speed and ended up changing cyl 4 ingnition coil and it was a fine for a while. Recently, Ive had a check engine light, with Trac off and VSC lights, which still indicates misfire or aigas issue. Due to my schedule and being broke I sorta let it go on for a while since I didn't really notice anything wrong while driving.
This is until a few days ago after I stopped for gas, I went to cross an intersection and my car started misfiring and sputtering, with barely enough power to cross the road. I was able to limp it to get the code read, and just like previously I had a code that basically said all cyl misfire, though for a while the car was fine. I ended up pulling the sparkplugs and found lots of oil in one of the cylinders, so I replaced the valve cover and plug seal gaskets. While I was at it I bought a 6 set of MGK spark plugs since the old ones looked like theyve had better days (not carbonized or severely burned, besides the one being oily).
Now the orientation of the engine allows for great access to one valve cover, though the other one is tilted towards the firewall and is buried under the intake manifold and getting to it requires practically removing the entire air system, so I figured I'd be fine doing one side and getting back to the other side when I had a full day off. To my delight the car ran great. I ended up buying a new PCV valve and installed it later that night. I immediately noticed that I had a slight loss in power between 20-30 mph. The next day, in the span of about 6 miles, the car suffered loss of power, to misfiring during acceleration, all the way to nearly stalling out when starting to move. I damn near coasted it through the neighborhood to my house, and during this time I could smell a little bit of oil burning. I immediately checked the gaskets to what I replaced but they all seemed fine. My coolant is perfectly clear as is my oil, air filter is fine with no sign of excess blowby. Idk if the PCV valve meant anything, I doubt it would have such an impact though? Would a plenum gasket leak maybe have an affect to this extreme?
Overall I noticed I can fire up the car just fine now, but the car suffers great loss in power the moment it's in drive. I already plan on doing the other valve/plug gasket and buying a plenum gasket tomorrow. What else can I do/look for? Thank you (also sorry for the novel)!

Played MD again for the first time in more than a year and I really like how it's improved. The economic system especially is a lot better and I like the energy and productivity dynamics. I also think the missiles/space dynamic is handled a lot better now. My big problem last time was how a lot of the modifiers (simulated in game effects of different ideas/national spirits) were way too exaggerated to the point of widespread inconsistency and a failure of basic simulation realism. I think the mod's improved a lot on that front too, but there were a couple of big continuing problems that popped up to me playing as the US.
First, population growth. It makes sense to model population growth decreasing with rising levels of development, but the values are way too strong. At normal starting level gdp/c I found it knocked population growth down by 100%. Literally completely erased it, which is decidedly unrealistic. The US, a country of 280 million people, was growing at 1000 people per year in the mod, in the real world it grew at about 1% (between 2 and 3 million) a year in the 2000s. Even without the GDP per capita thing the "scars of the war on drugs" idea was knocking it down by 50%. That's way too massive, it should be more like a tenth of that, and the same goes for the effects of different policy variables on population growth. This is also true for policies and focuses which change the structural costs of things like healthcare or social spending - the effects are way too big!
The other big issue I found was that base military production values are way too low, even at full production efficiency. I know modern equipment is far slower and more expensive to make than WW2 kit, but the mod currently takes that too far. For example, the US now produces (in full rate production) about 160 F-35s a year. With a reasonable number of factories allocated (4 to 6) at full production efficiency I could only manage a quarter of that with a comparable multirole jet. The problem wasnt really skewed output or efficiency variables, those were pretty good, it was just that the base figure is way too low. I changed it from 3 ICs per military factory to around 10 in the defines file and that made things way better. I will say however that naval production values (which the mod rightly increased from their hoi4 base) looked very realistic and I like what the mod has done with MIOs.
Also, air wing size. If even a large country making a substantial effort can only build 40 normal jets a year, 100 is definitely too big for a default air wing. A modern Air Force Wing is closer to 50, and that seems like the better compromise with the lower production volumes/higher capability of modern kit.
So to conclude, this mod has definitely come a long way, especially in its economic system, but it still gets some of the basics (military production, population growth) wrong, and I hope devs continue to improve the problem of massively exaggerated policy and idea effects.

My gf (19) and me (20m) have been dating for almost 2 years. For anonymity we’ll call her “Mary” me and Mary started dating in late 2022. Previous to her I had dated a girl who for anonymity we’ll call “Liz” I broke up with Liz to date Mary. Because I felt I couldn’t trust Liz to be loyal.

So trying to be the bigger man and to look out for my gfs feelings I had a talk with Liz and tried to set boundaries. Whenever I talked to her tho she seemed to only want to talk about our relationship which I thought was weird and still do to this day. Lemme state this. I have 0 feelings towards her anymore. Yes she’s still attractive, but I no longer have any feelings beyond that. After that talk Liz and Mary were friends again. I guess they had talked about wanting to have a threesome. When reading these texts on her phone I immediately broke down. Yes being lied to and cheated her a lot. But to this day the worst part was her saying she felt she had to force herself to be intimate with me. It felt like I had been roping her for our entire relationship and that in of itself made me s*icidal. Even now almost a whole year later it still hurts me to think abt. When I read those messages immediately left Mary’s house without waking her up or saying bye. I went home and played videos games with my cousin and best friend and told them what had happened. They were just as shocked and told me I needed to confront her and discuss it with her. When she woke up I texted her saying how I found the messages and wanted to break up. She apologized profusely and said it meant nothing, and said what she said abt us wasn’t true and she wishes she could take it back. I told her I can’t see her for a while and don’t even know if I still love her. I took a week or 2 away to see how I felt. I decided to take her back and forgive her. Why? U may ask. Because I love her and I want to have kids and a future with her. This is when prob my biggest regret is. That night I saw her we were intimate…a lot, and she was more enthusiastic about it then she ever had been. I knew it was about of pity. I knew I shouldn’t. I still did. Because I’m weak. I wish I could tell u it only happened once but it didn’t. It continued like that for a while and I never turned it down. The post nut clarity after each time was terrible. YEP THE SAME EXACT THING. Them having an emotional affair. But this time on top of that. Mary stated that she was going to break up with me so she could be with Liz. That’s not what she told me. Obviously she said she wanted to take time away from each other and then get back together. When I saw this I was livid that this could happen 3 TIMES!!! This 1 didn’t hurt me as much because we were breaking up anyways. So when we broke up I had no intention getting back together with her. she still kept in contact with me reminding me she loved me and that she wanted to get back together. Funny part is. We were intimate more often during that time than we were when we were in a relationship. I’m sure there’s a reason why. But I couldn’t tell u. I’m sure someone else knows why.
1 of the last times we hooked up I looked through her phone. But this time I actually got a pleasant surprise. Mary said she didn’t want to date Liz and wanted to be with me. Liz obviously furious blocked her. But don’t worry not for very long. We ended up getting back together and she still to this day doesn’t know what I found the night before we broke up. We got back together in January. In February Mary and Liz became friends again. Mary continued to ask for a threeesome even after I said no.
