Q: Do UFOs exist?

A: Yes. The way humanity interprets the word 'fact' is for the observation to be independently verified by a community which often includes evidence and supporting material. For UFOs, multiple governments, agencies such as NASA and key scientist/astronaut/military personnel have independently affirmed the existence of UFOs. Famously multiple presidents of the US have been quoted to acknowledge them as well.
Note: Be wary, as with enough scrutiny almost any claim can be reduced and dissected to the point where almost any 'fact' can be questioned, UFOs are no different. Using the term 'fact' in a society of subjective sentient beings is a logical slippery slope. But we can certainly say, as far as the word and loose interpretation of the word 'fact' goes, it is a fact that UFO's exist.

Q: Do aliens exist?

A: Almost certainly, the majority of the scientific community agrees it would be astronomically unlikely for terrestrial life to exist in isolation. Despite significant observations of life living in seemingly impossible inhospitable environments on earth, critics rightfully question "if life is abundant, why have we not seen it yet".

Q: Are the UFOs we see due to alien visitation?

A: The strategy to answer questions which don't have scientific consensus is to logically consider it with the information we do have, making the fewest assumptions with the available facts. As with the case of the visitation hypothesis, we can consider many angles and reach a logically sound position.
Most of you know that out of a sample of 100 reported sightings, only a handful are truly anomalous, the vast majority being misreported as known origin. Of the handful left we can say these are anomalous genuine UAPs. Of these, we must first consider the least assumptions and first look to whether they are anomalous in nature, but human in origin.
Before we can do that we need to briefly discuss the credibility of witness testimony. Society places a significant credibility with witness testimony. People's lives can be judged based on the testimony of a witness, such as in the case of a murder trial. Indeed the vast majority of our entire scientific understanding is based on experimental data and whilst such data is often from instruments and computers there is often a human element. Ultimately a human witnesses the experiment and records the measurements and readings. Many things can affect the credibility of a witness testimony and of particular significance are independent witnesses reporting the same observation. As is the case with the scientific methodology and 'reproduced experiments'.
To Ufologists, a large component of lore and supplementary evidence to the existence of UAPs is built on witness testimony. We should consider events such as Rendlesham Forest where a sighting was reported by multiple expert, trained military personnel who are specifically trained in identifying even advanced aircraft and weather phenomena. A report based on multiple trained, sane personnel with consistent observations to the description of a UAP sighting is what we would call a water tight witness testimony. Such a testimony would be ruled true in any court for a petty crime or murder scandal for example.
However, on the topic of "NHI" our sample size of witness testimony is lower than the case for UAPs. The cases of multiple, credible witnesses coming forward with testimony for the case of NHI are less and I struggle to think of a good example. (Please drop any in the comments).
However, in the case of supposed NHI visitations we do have a colourful array of high ranking officials and representatives of military or government who have disclosed personally that they knew of NHI visitations.
In these cases the credibility is more individually focused on the trustworthiness of the person rather than a coherent multiple sighting event. We must consider such testimony carefully for there are many logical explanations for such testimony being false.
For example, David Grusch is a high profile contemporary whistle-blower who has claimed the existence of NHI. Using purely logic and removing any emotional or subjective intuition we can consider at least one likely explanation for his testimony. It's very possible that Grusch is operating as per a larger more convoluted Psy-Ops on behalf of the government. We know he is a very diligent patriot with a pristine record and presents as the perfect soldier to take one for the team and blow his career and personal circumstances to lie under oath and rattle off something he's been asked to say for some greater agenda to serve his country. Such agendas we can only speculate on, but domestic manipulation of the public as well as cold-war game theory plays against adversary countries such as China. Obviously such a hypothesis is fantastical and imaginative. But so is the NHI visitation hypothesis and a global conspiracy. For those versed in the US's history of Psy-ops, particularly in the case of the CIA and NSA - such an operation involving Grusch as a false agent is absolutely consistent with some of their previous endeavours.
Disclaimer: I am not disproving Grusch, my personal opinion is he is likely telling the truth. But I am allowed my personal opinion and my personal opinion is you cannot guarantee his legitimacy without the application of some element of faith. I have always been extremely careful whenever faith is introduced to objective deductions. I hope we all are. I don't operate with beliefs so I can't answer whether I believe in Grusch or not. But I can consider both sides as a matter of consistent statistical likelihood and it's much healthier for me to assume both possibilities going forward rather than feeling the very precarious and human desire to conclude. Again I hope this is something that is common practice amongst my peers.
So answering the question of NHI having operated the UAPs we know to exist is ongoing. So far we have explored the very likely idea that life exists outside the earth. We have also considered witness testimony and found that whilst witness testimony is credible in many scenarios, it's particularly problematic to be relied on in this case. Of course Grusch is not the only one who's claimed NHI visitations but our analysis on him is applicable to others.
There is good hope for the Alien hypothesis, but first more bad news. If we believe Grusch and similar witness testimony (in Grusch's case he's not a direct witness). We must also consider that these same witnesses also claim a US government UAP project. Depending on the witnesses and whistle-blower testimony, we either have a reverse engineering capacity of UAPs to even a downright working production of UAPs ourselves. So when we consider the handful of genuine anomalous sightings for every 100 reports, when we apply further statistical analysis, we now need to account for the likelihood such sighting (especially near air force bases or military facilities) may just be human operating UAP experiments.
Obviously we have a paradox "you can't refute the NHI origin hypothesis by saying they're humans, if humans only have the technology because we reverse engineered it" and that is true so let's be clear. Using statistics and logic we may say that a truly anomalous sighting may be humans operating craft. But we may also say that craft may have been inspired by a NHI origin.
So far the answer is skewed slightly towards the likelihood of the NHI hypothesis to be false. However there is a very compelling element to the facts that critics of the NHI hypothesis struggle with.
We have a very clear and comprehensive record of UAPs in history which predates a reasonable likelihood of us having the technology at that time. Obviously the endeavours of the ancient astronaut hypothesis is colourful, fantastical and well refuted. But amongst the popularly scrutinized theory there are strong elements of logical significance. Almost all religions and teachings of native indigenous people overwhelming talk of people coming from the sky in craft, appearing different in their looks, possessing knowledge and technology and interacting with early humans. Such stories are controversial of course but enough of them exist to merit consideration.
But much more relevant to us in this argument is the existence of the Project Bluebook and the incidents which inspired its necessity. For those that aren't aware it's common knowledge to Ufologists as the allied investigations into apparently very common UAP reports known as foo fighters observed by pilots during the word war.
Our logic tells us that if any global human power at the time had that capability we would have used it. The reason for that is because as soon as we had the atomic bomb capability we used that. It's absurd to assume that a human government was responsible for the UAPs in the bluebook but didn't use them, but would use an atom bomb. It's absurd but we must remember, history is littered with absurd events that did happen. So we don't rule it out, but it more or less provides a significant and compelling argument to the NHI hypothesis for UAPs. In simple terms, they existed before we could have created them. We deduce that, because if we had UAP tech we would have used it before needing to rely on atom bombs.
Ultimately if you want an answer it has two parts; a pragmatic answer and then a severe personal caveat.
Part one: Pragmatism
For any truly anomalous sighting, it very well may be of human origin dabbling in potential NHI tech. It also may be of NHI origin. We don't have clear enough evidence to know. Whilst US military officials claim they don't have the tech or that their adversaries don't, belief of that position requires faith as they do not provide a logical argument for their hypothesis. But if we look back at the sightings throughout history it becomes more and more likely the sightings were of NHI origin.
Part two: Caveat
My personal caveat is that some FAQ's shouldn't have conclusive answers. Our scientific method which underpins our most prestigious and rigorous institution of science in the world; does not always conclude. Sometimes a question has multiple likely answers and it will take more information to reduce those to one answer. I emphatically preach this is an attitude we employ as Ufologists as ultimately we are a community of speculators and researchers. So let's leave faith at the door.

Q: Why can supposed advanced beings master interdimensional/intergalactic space traversal but then crash land on earth like amateurs?

A: This question usually has a very loaded and dangerous assumption which I don't think we can make without careful consideration. The question implies that UFOs crash landing is as problematic to NHI as it would be to us. If a military pilot crashes a plane, they may die and as an asset they are worth hundreds of millions to the government, big loss. Additionally the plane they used is extremely expensive too and may have trade secrets. For us, a pilot crash landing is a huge net loss in life and assets. When we consider the idea of UAP crash landing we are applying our human bias on them.
Firstly, the UAP may be being operated by AI, biological artificial intelligence, pilotless etc. Even if there's a biologic body inside it's very possible the actual sentient pilot was operating the body remotely the same way we operate robots remotely. The biological body left behind may be like a robot we left on the moon which we used remotely to navigate the lunar landscape. Our operators don't die if the robot is broken.
Additionally, the craft itself is likely not a multi billion dollar craft. It's probably extremely cheaply made with the avenue of advanced technology. The 4chan whistle-blower (whether you believe them or not) introduced a logically sound idea that a craft was in the sea making purpose built UAPs all the time and sending them on missions. The "mother craft" just mines the materials it needs from our sea floor and pops out a UAP, it's probably entirely automated.
Little fiction here but it paints a story which is good to consider. Imagine a un manned probe lands in the sea after having identified using photo spectrometry that our planet has certain elements. It lands and the AI finds a spot in the sea away from detention and starts mining for a probe craft. It mines and creates a probe craft. The probe craft goes out and does some recon and then either makes new craft for whatever but eventually instigates a protocol which fires up the organic biological 'pilots' which are either artificial purpose built intelligence or biological vehicles operated by remote consciousness which a sentient life form will operate from afar. Then these guys go and crash whether it's a magnetic anomaly or something else and the NHI doesn't really care and are hardly inconvenienced.
It's possible to encapsulate or hide or lock the main functions of their technology upon crashing in the same way that our advanced technology may self destruct if crash landed in a foreign land. There's also speculation that some secret key is needed to operate them.
That is all fiction, but it paints a compelling alternative to us just projecting our bias on the crash hypothesis.
Remember, to a civilization that in theory has automated its outreach reconnaissance, the most pristine system design for their drones and vehicles isn't to somehow guarantee 100% crash proof technology. But instead it's to assume crashes will happen and make sure they're not damaging nor give away their tech too much.

Q: Can we simulate or 'fake' UFO's in the sky?

A: Yes to an extent. Using lasers we have technology to create lights that can move. However radar is another matter.

Q: Why haven't we had material evidence of UAP's released to the public?

A: Grusch has kind of answered this by saying that destabilisation factors are too great.

Q: Is there an alternative to official disclosure and catastrophic disclosure?

A: Yes, I believe there's a route forward that a community such as this one can start making progress on. With the introduction to a pragmatic disclosure which has a simple goal; remove the 'valid' reasons that disclosure is being hidden and it will no longer be hidden.

The Great Depression had a significant and lasting impact on society, especially in the Dust Bowl states. Oklahoma suffered the worst and is still suffering from its effects. The stock market crashed in 1929. This was 11 years after the end of WWI when a lot of working age men were killed. My father was 19 years old. Children age 4 and older had to go to work in the fields harvesting and hoeing weeds. My maternal grandmother who was born in 1932 cut broomcorn and picked cotton by hand. The International Harvester for cotton was invented in 1940, but only came into widespread use by 1970. The broomcorn industry died out in 1980. Older boys age 11 and up went to work in sawmills and the trades. Watch the movie Walk the Line. Johnny Cash’s older brother of 14 was almost cut vertically in half when he slipped and was cut through the sternum by a large saw blade. Can you imagine being that young and handling dangerous machinery with no safety equipment? Safety equipment didn’t exist back then and neither did child labor laws. Those old Boomer children worked just as hard as adults to help feed their families. They were punished for playing. They had to suck it up and endure extreme hardship just to eat and they ate very little. Everyone was starving and filthy. There was as no indoor plumbing, no electricity and no air conditioning. I watched my grandmother work from sun up to exhaustion and she slept in her clothes. When she died, her bra strap hooks were rusted from sweat because she never removed it, meaning she hadn’t bathed in decades. She was 4-8” and wore a child size medium. She was conditioned to hard work and starvation. She and her family including my mother never overcame the effects of the Depression. She was functionally illiterate despite graduating high school in 1948.
Education stopped at third-fourth grade for the average child because parents were extremely poor and couldn’t afford to pay for schooling. School was different then. Teachers lived in a teacherage provided by the school district and earned a living stipend from the state to teach grades 1-4 how to read, write, sign their names, cipher, count money and read a watch. That was the extent of free education. Advanced learning after 4rth grade was taught by subscription very similar to private tutoring. Grades 5-7 were called grade school. Grades 7-12 were called high school. They didn’t have Junior High.
In 1935, the Second New Deal created the Works Progress / Projects Administration (WPA) to help people recover from the Depression. A lot of new schools were built during this period. Schools were funded with a combination of state aid and a tax levy called a mill collected from every resident in a school district. When Boomers say they shouldn’t have to pay a school tax because they don’t have children in school, this is what they’re referring to. They had the right to vote against a tax levy. These days, we call them temporary sales tax increases to fund things like new gym equipment. Everyone inside the school district votes on the increase and everyone inside and outside the district has to pay the sales tax if they shop at a store in the district. These no-voters will shop outside the district if the tax increase passes.
Fast forward to WWII (1939-1945) and the Korean War (1950-1953) and we see a significant decrease in school attendance that results in the closure of many rural schools. Many of this second generation of Boomers grew up in boarding schools and orphanages because their mothers couldn’t afford to feed them. This period resulted in a high population of youth being institutionalized. One of my grandmother’s sisters was raped by her uncle at age 14 and was sent to an asylum for the mentally ill. My mother (born 1952) and her sisters were taken by DHS (called CPS today) and sent to a girl’s state school after their father died of cirrhosis at the age of 42. He was a bootlegger who literally drank himself to death. Prohibition (1920-1933) was another result of the Depression. It lasted until 1952 in Oklahoma. Forced sterilization in mental institutions was outlawed in 1951 for the sake of medical study. The practice began in 1931 because the state believed that mental illness/retardation was genetic and caused by incest/inbreeding. It runs in my mother’s family so I can confirm the state was right. Mutations in the brain can be passed from mother to child.
The third generation of Boomers was born during the Vietnam War (1955-1975). I was born in 1973, so I’m technically Gen X with Boomer influences but not to the point that I’m a raging psycho. I consider those born in the 60s to be the third Boomer generation. My town lost its high school in 1968 and stopped at the eighth grade. All those who graduated from the 60s-1980 are the anti education gatekeepers of the workforce that I’m personally struggling with. These are the people who hate anyone with an education level above theirs. They’re offended by education unless you’re a doctor or a lawyer and they can use you. They are also anti-technology and refuse to use it. They are bullies who are socially enmeshed and always in your business. This generation of women married older men because men their age were fighting in a war. Or, they married wealthy men. Those women didn’t have to work and became bored housewives. I blame daytime soap operas for teaching these idiots their horrible social skills. They stayed home almost 24/7 except for when they were at the hair salon or shopping. They wore a lot of makeup too and nail polish contained formaldehyde. The amount of lead and toxic chemicals they were exposed to was very high. My mother was in this category from 1970-1980 when she divorced my father. Men who came home from the war were addicted to heroin and may have turned to cocaine, crack or meth. Many ended up homeless or hooked up with women for the welfare benefits. They were insanely abusive. Very few were able to adjust. Women who did not marry well, had to work cash jobs to support themselves and they might have qualified for USDA commodities and food stamps under Johnson’s War on Poverty (1964). We didn’t have welfare reform until 1996. My mother became an alcoholic and was addicted to amphetamines sold as diet pills in the 80s. We had pure meth from 1980 that my stepdad was addicted to and an explosion of brown meth from 1994 to the present. Almost this entire generation and my own Gen X either experimented or became addicted to meth. It affected Millennials too.
Child prostitution as a means of survival and CSA were common during the Depression because there was no law against it and it’s something society has difficulty grappling with. Oklahoma passed its first anti-child molestation law in 1945 after the end of WWII. I remember those old Boomer women saying that talk about sex was vulgar and those matters weren’t discussed. It was swept under the rug until 1990 when teens finally began to speak out. We had an explosion of violent rape and domestic violence in the 90s by Boomers and chauvinists who couldn’t bear to give up their right to sex on demand and beating women.
We got the Department of Education and mandatory attendance in 1980 so Gen X was the first generation to have a well rounded education since 1929. All the generations that came before us are jealous because we also got child labor laws and the statutory rape law. We’re the first generation that didn’t have to endure backbreaking work as children. We got easy jobs like paper routes, babysitting and mowing. As teenagers, farm kids hauled hay but that’s about as strenuous as it got. Many Gen Xers got pregnant young and had to drop out of school or couldn’t go to college. They had to get married and raise a family. I’m struggling with this portion of my generation being jealous as well.
I think Gen Z is the best generation because they are so far removed from the absolute hell that previous generations went through. They have the best education, the best social skills and are the most well adjusted of all the generations that came before them. Gen X just needs to teach ya’ll life skills and survival skills that you can hand down to Gen Alpha.

uhh should i do the gender and age thing lol (23n) well.. like everyone else here i’m extremely suicidal. it’s like i’m in a constant state of planning my death.. it’s been this way since the year started. i mean i’ve been suicidal for as long as i can remember but never to this extent. i’ve planned to kill myself tonight lol but i’ve planned many times before, written MANYY notes.. but then i usually just sleep it off and go about my life like “normal”. this time feels different. i feel like i’ve been falling into a black hole and am finally reaching the singularity. the point of no return. no hope. no will to live or change. well ig i’ll list my reasons for doing this. 1. i’m a stinker… sounds silly but i’m being so fr 😭 randomly in eighth grade i started to stink?? it took me awhile to realize it was ME stankin up the school w my chemical warfare.. i think it’s some form of tmau??? well whatever this condition is.. it’s made my life a fucking nightmare. halfway through 10th grade i dropped out. genuinely couldnt handle the bullying anymore and i would get panic attacks constantly… not a good time for me… well i mean its not like it ever any got better lol.

I considered making a burner but ya know what? I WILL NOT BE FART SHAMED.
My rcpd is pretty mild honestly. I’m lucky that I don’t experience a lot of the symptoms most no burpers have likes the gurgles, chest pain, acid reflux etc.
But lord, the flatulence is ruining my life. I toot every 7 seconds during the day and every 3 seconds at night. I could single-handedly power a wind turbine. A full sized one. I avoid making evening plans because holding in my farts is so painful I’m practically doubled over and I look 8 months preggy. I know I’m gonna get busted and publicly shamed for crop dusting a target aisle one of these days and I live in fear.
My partner is super chill about it and we’re both open with stuff like poop and farts, but I feel like if he really knew the extent of my gas, he would call for an exorcism. Whenever we hang out I drink a TON of beverages so I can use the excessive peeing as an excuse to go to the bathroom and play the butt bassoon.
I’m not to the point where I want to seek Botox (I’m not ruling it out) but has anyone found ANYTHING that can help alleviate gas? I’ve tried papaya enzymes, gas-x, beano, some natural sh!t from Whole Foods, and if anything, they’ve all made it worse. I’ve considered things like eating smaller portions and eating more slowly to avoid swallowing air, but I always forget once I start putting the food in my face. Any tips??? I’m going to fart myself into the stratosphere if I don’t get help.

Hi, a beginner here so forgive me if this is a dumb question but I'll get straight down to it.
Let's say I have a 300 page unstructured document with about 400 words per page. My goal is to extract certain types of entities from every page of the document and I have to do this multiple times per day. What would be the best approach to feed this data to a Llama 3 8b model.
Since there's a context limit window to it, my current approach is to feed it OCR from every two pages or so, with a default prompt for the task I want to do. Is this an optimal way of doing it?
Also sidenote, my predecessors have a langchain spacy model doing this currently but the accuracy isn't that great as the text in the document is unstructured as well as the grammar and sentence formation is extremely bad in some cases. That's why we are trying to see if an LLM can solve this problem to some extent.
I have also read about implementing a RAG pipeline. Would that be an ideal approach for this case considering the size of the documents?

Lightyear Frontier, the first title from Frame Break, a Swedish game development studio, presents an open-world game in early access, in which the player piloting a Mecha must work to survive and revitalize the newly colonized planet, as well as uncover the secrets present in this unknown world.
The game offers a set of elements that broaden its scope and make it daring, to say the least, especially considering that it is the first game from an indie studio. After landing on the unknown planet, it is necessary to recover the Mecha and its various tools. Upon completing this brief tutorial, the player has their Mecha ready, which is basically a Mecha made for agricultural purposes in order to help colonize other planets by obtaining resources. At this point the player is introduced to the farm element of the game, the player must collect the alien plants from the planet and cultivate them in order to develop the agricultural land, along with this proposal is added the whole layer of managing a base with different structures and improvements for the Mecha. Finally, there is the element of the open world, which is eager for exploration in order to discover new resources and uncover the mysteries of the new environment.
The story of the game goes hand in hand with the main objective: upon entering the planet, the player needs to start a new life in the new world, and a big part of that life, apart from the little farm, is exploring the environment. Each time a new environment is cleared, the player learns a little more about the game's history through a personal AI that tells them why the space exploration mission took place and what the process was like. At the same time, there is a sealed door that has its seals unlocked according to each new environment that is rejuvenated. After the environments have been completely rejuvenated, the sealed door is opened and part of the world's secrets are revealed, along with a special ability for the mech. Unfortunately the story stops there, there is a sequel but it hasn't been produced yet, you'll have to wait for future updates and for the game to be officially released for it to be completed.
As for the farm part of the game, this is also essential to the story as a whole, it's not there as an extra element that takes up time without any purpose, because it's from the 5 tools that the player has in their mech that the process of cleaning up the environment takes place, especially with the plant watering tool and the harvester. The robotic watering can is used to remove harmful mud and the harvester is used to remove harmful weeds, so without both, the whole exploration element becomes meaningless. So where does the farm come in? Mud and weeds are more resistant in more advanced environments, so you need to upgrade the mech's tools so that these obstacles can be removed, and that's where the farm comes in, it's where the different constructions are made available and resources are obtained in order to improve the mecha. The Mecha's improvement site is also built at the base next to the buildings that process the different metals, woods and alien plants into oils to be used as improvements. In addition to the farm itself, exploration is important in the Mecha's evolution, since resources such as trees, stones, aluminum, copper and iron need to be collected from the environment. All these elements are there to make improvements to the Mecha possible, improvements that are not only essential for the game as a whole to continue, but are also important for more efficient maintenance of the plantation.
There are also other interesting elements such as the product store that appears daily on the player's farm, where you can sell and buy products to facilitate progression and partly reduce the need to grind. There's also the quest board, which offers tasks in exchange for money to be spent in the produce store. One element that has been developed that is a positive surprise are the random events on the plantation, which are basically two: the noxious bubbles that need to be popped with the water jet before they grow and explode, and the rain of noxious weeds, both of which can wipe out the player's plantation and both of which always occur in the morning and close to harvest day, for this reason the player is almost obliged to sleep in the house overnight, because if they don't and the random event occurs the next day, it's practically impossible to remedy the disaster on the plantation, so the element is used to limit exploration to an extent that the farm won't be abandoned, an excellent game design idea.
An impactful characterization of decoration in the gameplay has been developed by Frame Break in Lightyear Frontier, unlike other games, the work generously rewards the player for decorating the area of their residence. The different levels of housing allow for different degrees of bonuses, and these bonuses are incredible, such as the chance to increase the collection of resources, destroy objects more quickly with a “critical” with the blade tool, or even increase the yield of the plantation. The fact is that the game has turned the element of customizing the house and its surroundings into an essential element of the gameplay, and it's an incredible way of encouraging the player to explore all the infinite decorations beyond “I want to make my house pretty”.
Aesthetically, the work has a pseudo-realism, where the playful mixes with the real and the cartoonish style takes over. It's an interesting mix and is in line with the model proposed by Frame Break, the exploration and colonization of a new planet. Graphically, the game is beautiful and presents almost no performance problems, with few bugs to be found.
In conclusion, Lightyear Frontier delivers the old and basic in a revamped form, not a bad thing for a small studio that has made great strides with its first work. Meca's idea draws attention to the game, which features exploration, base management, the creation of a farm, and a story with normal levels. There is nothing extraordinary or innovative about the basic structure of the game, but it is solid and very well interconnected, the elements of the work are interdependent, which generates continuous progression in all aspects of the work. In short, the work is characterized in this way: the basics done with care and dedication so that the homogeneity of the work is maintained, together with a dash of daring with a somewhat out-of-the-box idea.

2024.05.13 23:56 juliaxyz 8 year old male - abdominal pain since February

Son 8.5 M, 45 lbs has abdominal pain since February. He doesn't go to school and stays in bed most of the time. It happened before but not as severe and went away after a month or so. We realize we need to wait longer for Amitripltyne to work but we are concened that he has rear good days (hours) and in bed most of the time. Normally he is a bright, fun and social boy and now doesn't leave his bed. Could this be something not tested for?
Current Outpatient Medications
famotidine 40 MG/5ML Recon susp - Take 2 mL (16 mg) by mouth at bedtime
gabapentin (Neurontin) 250 MG/5ML Solution Take 3 mL (150 mg) by mouth twice a day

hyoscyamine 0.125 MG Tab - does not help

amitriptyline 10 mg Tab - full dosage started May 2nd, makes him agressive

Medical History Summary:
8.5 years old has been constipating for many years. He has been diagnosed with encopresis in 2021. Ever since he was diagnosed with encopresis He was on MiraLAX .5 to .75 cup twice a day. This helped him to control his constipation. During all this time except for approximately a few weeks he was soiling his pants almost daily. He was also frequently complaining about abdominal pain. Per doctor’s recommendation we were reminding him to sit on the toilet after each meal. Feeding him with homemade meals and we try to limit processed food. We did physical therapy and psychologist therapy. He has a toilet foot stool and seat.
About 1 year ago (January 2023), a bowel cleanup was performed per Max’s pediatrician recommendations. One cupful of MiraLAX was given every 3 hours. (No fasting or clear food diet was recommended)
During that time evacuated lots of poops with diarrhea content. We did not achieve the yellow fluid and stopped after a couple of days. Since this cleanup Max experienced severe abdominal pain for about a month.
Per GI doctor recommendation, we were no longer doing cleanup to avoid severe abdominal pain. Instead, Max was back on his MiraLAX dose .75 cup twice a day with fiber gummies 4mg a day.
He has good apetite most of the time, except after a dose of Exlax. His stool was always help soft over these years.
Notes from GI visit April 22nd - Today he has more guarding, mild distension and tenderness. I can't tell if he has a surgical abdomen (ie volvulus, appendicitis) but it is not associated with vomiting or eating. His most likely diagnosis is abdominal migraines (abdominal pain and headaches) and anxiety at this point, but the pattern has been consistent without as much good days. Activity makes him worse, and we have considered ACNES as well. He has had multiple cleanouts, and the periodic soiling could be from inattentiveness. Perhaps this is from constipation, but should rule out surgical abdomen at this time. We had a long conversation today about abdominal migraines, but upon repeat exam, it is still quite guarded. Pain is daily / off and on. Has had 2 good days in last 3 weeks Appetite is good except when pain is high. No vomiting. Stooling daily with miralax. Sleeping well.
UPPER Endoscopy Diagnosis
A. Duodenum, mucosal biopsy:- Duodenal mucosa with no pathologic change. B. Duodenum, bulb, mucosal biopsy:- Duodenal mucosa with a small lamina propria lymphoid aggregate. C. Stomach, antrum/body, mucosal biopsy: - Antral-and oxyntic-type gastric mucosa with focal features of mild reactive (chemical) gastropathy. D. Esophagus, distal, mucosal biopsy: - Squamous epithelium with rare intraepithelial eosinophils (up to 2 per high-power field). E. Esophagus, proximal, mucosal biopsy:- Squamous epithelium with rare intraepithelial eosinophils (up to 1 per high-power field).
The overall findings are nonspecific. The esophageal findings do not meet threshold numerical criteria for a diagnosis of eosinophilic esophagitis. Reflux related changes are favored. Clinical correlation is recommended.

The JoeVerse is depicted as existing within a large "Multiverse" consisting of a number of separate & distinct universes, all of which help make up the JoeVerse Multiverse.
The most crucial aspect of the JoeVerse Multiverse is that it also incorporates a large number of genres from all major science fiction and fantasy concepts, such as how aliens, gods, magic, mythology, cosmic beings, parallel universes, interstellar travel and extremely advanced human-developed technology all exist prominently throughout the Multiverse.
The JoeVerse primarily was created to express my love for "Action" and the many forms it comes in. For example the many pieces of media entertainment I consumed as a child. e.g Cartoons, Comics, Anime, Books, Video Games, Martial arts, Music, Movies, etc) all strongly and directly influenced the creation of the JoeVerse. The JoeVerse's many stories primarily focus on the aspects I like about these pieces of entertainment such as Action, Characters, Power-Scaling, Continuity, Worldbuilding and Paying Homage to these oh so cherished pieces of media.
)))JoeVerse Prime: At the heart of this multiverse lies the mainstream continuity, which is known canonically as "JoeVerse Prime". JoeVerse Prime is based on a fictitious take on the real-world. For example, Earth found within the JoeVerse Prime has mostly all the features of the real one: same countries, same public personalities (politicians, movie stars, etc.), same historical events (such as World War II, the Cold War), and so on; however, it also contains many other fictional elements, such as new geographical locations, political organizations and a number of new & different historical events.
Corners & Sub-Corners:(Re-read if needed) The JoeVerse Prime is divided into four separate major settings of distinct & “Broad '' genres known as "Corners". The four respective Corners are Earth, Intergalactic, the Naatherlands and the Interdimensional. All Corners house minor settings of typically more “Focused” genres & stories known as "Sub-corners". The Corners and their respective Sub-corners are liable to "Crossover" and even connect with one another.
Four Corners explained:
)Earth: Starting with "Earth", home to an abundance of "Action & Adventure" series featuring primarily humanity through various times in history (I.e stories can take place anywhere from Ancient times all the way to the Modern era and beyond).The majority of stories told on Earth feature subjects & characters such as war, criminals, detectives, espionage, politics, assassins, soldiers, super soldiers, spies, mutants, zombies, magic, warriors, martial artists and then some.
There are also Earth's five sub-corners, starting with the "Underworld", home to the stories of "Urban Fantasy" about the supernatural & often cruel world of Vampires, Gargoyles, Lycans and much more all vying for survival and power while living just under the periphery of human civilization. The Underworld explores the supernatural civilization that has co-existed alongside humanity since ancient times.
Then the second Sub-corner, the "Holy War", a myriad of stories using lore based on the many “Mythologies & Folklore” of various human cultures, these stories follow the secret, ancient, bloody war of the Celestial Church. The Celestial Church is a 2000 year old clandestine organization of holy; warriors, soldiers, mages, knights, nuns, monks and more gathered from the many religions & cultures from around the globe to be the stalwart shield & sharpened blade against the supernatural, the unending swathes of powerful demons attempting to invade Earth and the unspeakable evil entities from alternate dimensions all of which has threatened humanity since it's conception.
Then the "West Coast Tales", a dramatic & grounded anthology series based in and around the West Coast of America. In every story we follow new characters in vastly different situations in life as they deal with family, drama, violence, romance, finances, sickness, coming of age, natural disasters, etc.
Then, the "Virtual World", a video game-like dimension that is home to various "LitRPG" focused stories. The Virtual World is directly connected to Earth via the highly popular, full-body capsule operated VRMMO known as the T.B.G system(Name pending). The Virtual world naturally houses the concept of "Gaming" thus it converts anything that enters it into data that follows its unique laws of reality and thus it has NPCs, Boss fights, Exp, Quest, Stats, H.U.Ds, Builds, Classes, etc.
Finally, the "Kaijin conflict" is the "Kaiju genre" focused storyline about the international conflict between the South Korean based Iskandar Industries with a human mutant sub-species known as the Kaijin. The Kaijin have superhuman abilities and are liable to become animalistic and go on a rampage; they also have the ability to transform into giant destructive monsters known as Kaijus.
)Naatherlands: The next Corner, the "Naatherlands", a large somber dimension that is home to the land of the "Supernatural & the Macabre". With it having stories of Vampires, Lycans, Gremlins, Gargoyles, Witches & Warlocks, horrific wildlife & flora and warring factions led by barbaric warlords. There is also varying levels of industrialized magic-based technology all in the backdrop of a Victorian era-esque(Gaslamp) setting.
And it's singular sub-corner the "Court of Blood", a "Political" focused series that shows the inner workings of the cunning, devious and often blood thirsty motives and actions of the royal members and leading factions of the upper echelon of the Naatherlands as they go about the cruel game of politics.
)Intergalactic: Third Corner, the "Intergalactic" is the setting encompassing the vast Cosmos of which Earth is a part of. The Intergalactic is home to various "Sci-fi" stories full of aliens, robots, artificial intelligence, spacecrafts, advanced and futuristic weapons & technology, interstellar bounty hunters, psychic power wielding warriors as well as galaxy spanning empires and Interstellar warfare.
Its first Sub-corner, "The War of Order & Chaos" is a "Mecha" inspired set of stories about the eternal struggle across the known universe between the immensely powerful chosen warriors of Order & Chaos known as the "Exuu'd". The Exuu’d are random individuals chosen from around the cosmos, if Chaos they are made to spread destruction, misery & death, if Order they are made to spread salvation, love & positivity. For the side of Chaos an Exuu’d can be criminals, scumbags or even prolific serial killers, for Order the Exuu’ds can be lawmen, samaritans or even average civilians. Regardless of origin the Exuu'd all fight each other for the very balance of the Cosmos. They are also gifted the powerful, sentient mechanized beings known as the Exxoms(Mechas) to assist in their endeavors. Exxoms all have unique designs, personalities and weapons & abilities.
Its second Sub-corner "Aon", a "Sword and Planet" inspired storyline, planet and accompanying solar system. The Aon system is locked outside of time & reality and for unknown reasons travelers from the Intergalactic, Interdimensional and even across time get pulled into the mysterious system by an unknown force. Since being secluded by conventional time both the inhabitants & technology have progressed in a way that there are varying levels of technology. There are crude medieval swords & armor as well as lasers, bolters, throwers and other advanced energy weapons. All inhabitants of Aon regardless of age and race are magically kept in their prime age & appearance. There is also a special & powerful magic known as "Laasa", that only women can harness and use. This has led to the majority of the system being ruled or fought over by factions of women led armies and warriors.
)Interdimensional: Lastly, the "Interdimensional", a catch-all term referring to the nigh-infinite Dimensions that make up the JoeVerse Prime. The Interdimensional is home to many genre blending stories of action, fantasy, science fiction and adventure all in the backdrop of numerous and radically different settings. This corner is populated by a myriad of exotic and powerful races such as the Angels of Heaven, the Demons of Hell, the reality warping Mymths, the cosmic beings known as the Balancers, the biologically altered insectoid empire known as the Urrglom, the humanoid Avian warriors known as the Harrpen, the technologically advanced bloodthirsty androids the Praeoids and much more.
It's first Sub-corner the "Collegium Historia", an “informational” adventure series about an interdimensional group of like minded Scholars, Zoologist, Historians, Explorers and Warriors that work towards the detailed exploration & documentation of the untold number of dimensions and the species & culture they may hold. With the group being led by the renowned, cantankerous explorer and swordsman Scuto Magnus.
Then it's second Sub-corner "The Fantastical Land of ORBIS"(Name pending), a standalone "High-fantasy" world full of adventure, danger, magic and awe. With ORBIS being an immense landmass the size of Earth. ORBIS is also full of creatures & beings such as Orcs, Elves, Dwarves, Dragons and so much more. There are also a slew of fantasy iterations of medieval humans cultures e.g Daiyomondo Empire(Feudal Japan), Gyellhaer(Viking Age Scandanavia), Kingdom of Stanum(Chivalric Knight era Europe) and the Shou Chongtu Empire(Warring States period China).

Shared Universe definition: A Shared universe is a fictional universe in which multiple independently created works are set. One or more authors may contribute works to a shared universe. The concept of the “Corners & Sub-corners" are inspired by and based on the genre, character & location organization of Marvel and DC Comics.

With each of these characters being made to embody an aspect of the aforementioned media entertainment, Cole (Western media & concepts), Aiden (Eastern (Anime) media & concepts), Joseph(a mixture of both).

I was very excited to see a Thai character finally added to the game, especially one with a plant theme (one of my favorite themes), though I'm sad to see how much he struggles and how bad he's seen by players. I want to try my hand at a rework to most of his kit to help.
I feel his size is fine when combined with his dash that helps him escape and heals himself, so I won't be changing that. Nor will I be changing his grab, since that can be immensely helpful and can't be replicated otherwise (aside from an enemy Hog I suppose). I also feel his ultimate is fine as is, so I'll be looking at his healing blossoms, needles, passive, and second ability.
To start, I believe he should have a passive that automatically builds up his flower over time. It would activate at the same time as the self healing passive and take about 5 or so seconds to fully charge, so he couldn't just have a fully charged blossom for free all the time. Additionally, his blossom could benefit from a secondary effect where there's a gradual heal over time. He could see a flower bud icon over allies and, the more individual healing blossoms he puts into someone, the more this bud will bloom. The more it blooms, the more it heals over time and the longer it lasts (maximum of 5 seconds). However, it wouldn't be easy to get it to full, as you would need to drop in a lot of healing shots and try to maintain it. Though you could start it right before a fight by spamming the uncharged shots into an ally to give them a bit of healing over time for the start of the fight. Ideally it would be enough to let him have times to damage freely, but not enough to make him out heal everyone else with ease or let him neglect healing.
For his needles, I see a lot of people suggesting a poison effect be added for damage over time. I assume they mean each hit triggers the poison, like an Ana shot, but I have an idea that promotes a bit more skill but also makes him even more of a character that would have to decide to heal or kill. This suggestion being that an enemy hit by enough needles in a given time by that Lifeweaver will start taking poison damage from the needles. Let's say you're firing consistently at a Cassidy and half your shots land. After 3-5 seconds, he would start taking a little extra damage each second even after you stop shooting. Ideally, this damage would be pretty small and not as long as Venom Mine but longer than an Ana shot. It's goal wouldn't be to outright kill, but to try and deter someone if possible. Some heroes, like Reaper and Mei, wouldn't be bothered in the slightest I imagine, but that's fine.
Now, regarding the platform... I think it should go. We know Space Ranger is going to be focused on verticality, so I think giving her an ability to lift allies might be more fitting. Instead, Lifeweaver could work with an ability that grants a temporary damage reduction to an ally. I imagine this as a ring of hard light flowers wrapped together and floating around an ally. The flowers gradually crack as the hero takes damage, but reduces the damage to an extent. This would be best used for helping an ally in a 1v1 or a tank who needs a bit of extra help. It wouldn't reduce damage already being dealt, like a Venom Mine or Virus though, just damage coming from outside the ring after it's applied.
Ideally, Lifeweaver should be a technical hero that takes a balance and the ability to tell when to take action or sit back. Think of it like a gardener, tending to your garden by feeding them, moving them out of the sun, and protecting them from pests.

I'm an old time PC gamer, used to enjoy Ultima, and absolutely loved the Command & Conquer series. Last time I bought a real gaming platform was many years ago, an an Xotic PC monster with 3D glasses if that points it out in time. (I really miss 3D.) I've purchased a few cheap laptops for various purposes, but nothing gaming oriented, they all played my steam games adequately....
I'm in love with the pocketwatch universe kinds of games (adored Banish, and it was in 3D...) and recently came across Manor Lords. I think I'm going to really enjoy that one, but... my laptop can't really run it. It could be memory bound, but it feels like it's CPU bound. Dropped graphics down to a minimum (which is a pity) and it's sluggish. So, I think this summer it's time for a new laptop again.
Ok, constraints:
  1. I'm not sensitive to price. I think I spent $4K - $5K on that Sager beast, but I really don't want to spend that much (and explain it to my wife. :-) I think $1K to $2K is optimal.
  2. Laptop, but battery isn't critical. I need it to stay alive while I move from power outlet to power outlet. Weight is also not critical (although if it happens to actually be on my lap, I don't want to feel like my genitals are getting crushed or on fire. Those old Sagers were "desktop replacements" and couldn't be on a lap, really.) Thermal issues are important -- I find that in a session I might not move for hours, and don't want things to overheat.
  3. Graphics are important. I think I'd like to get a VR hook at some point, since I love those things, but haven't seen a headset or content that would drive a purchase.
  4. CPU is important to the extent that it needs to be sufficient to run the games. If I need to do some video processing or something, I've got enough boxes around here I can set up a compute farm. But i do want Manor Lords to be smooth... And I'd like that to extend so I don't have to buy another laptop for a while.
  5. Ditto RAM and disk. Enough RAM to be smooth, enough SSD to be snappy, and hold a two or three games simultaneously. For longer storage, again I can put it elsewhere.
  6. In terms of monitor size, I've had 19" before and that seemed like too much for the way I use it. (I can always use an external monitor.) I think 16-17" is probably right.
  7. For operating system, well, I'm typing to you on a linux box, but it seems like I have to have a windows OS for the games. Don't need anything for work/game purposes, work provides it's own devices.
  8. US locale/support. I don't want to have to have a support site that is only in Mandarin. Yeah, google translate is great, but...
What should I be thinking about? And where should I go?

Today, we are going to go over everything that makes a dragon a dragon! This should introduce our core concepts that will be used in further dev diaries as we explain the features to come. As always, everything here is still WIP, but we hope this sates your appetites for another week while we continue to put the finishing touches on these fantastic beasts!

A Dragon and its types.

In the early stages of our dragon feature development, we acknowledged the importance of striking visuals, as seen in Buckzor’s extraordinary diary last week. Still, we knew we needed to go beyond aesthetics to bring each dragon to life mechanically. We've focused on hopefully making them distinct while implementing intuitive cues to help you quickly tell the dragons apart.
Starting from the top, the three most significant differences in a dragon - Is it a Wild Dragon, freely roaming the wilderness? Is it Tamed, able to be ridden through the skies and into battle? Is it simply owned - laying around a dragonpit, waiting for a rider to claim it?

Wild dragons are those that remain untamed and unclaimed by any ruler, living in their natural state. These dragons roam freely across the land, typically staying close to their lairs. Wild dragons cannot be used for combat or travel, and they pose significant risks to any ruler, realm, or location within their hunting range. A ruler who possesses a dragonpit (more on that later) can try to capture a wild dragon to make it an owned dragon. Meanwhile, you might see a local hero or brave knight attempt to tame the dragon directly or courageously endeavor to end its reign by hunting the beast where it lies.

Owned Dragons are those claimed by a ruler but not yet tamed by a dragonrider. They reside in their owner’s capital. Like Wild Dragons, Owned Dragons cannot be used in combat or for travel, but they are easier to tame than their wild counterparts. Characters who have not yet tamed a dragon can interact with an owned dragon at their court, either attempting to form a bond with the creature or trying to tame it directly.

Finally, we have the tamed dragons,

Tamed Dragons are dragons that a dragonrider has successfully tamed. If their rider is a ruler, they will reside in their ruler's capital; if not, they will stay in the capital of their employer. However, this is unless they are actively serving in an army or being used for travel by their Riders. Besides Travel and Warfare, riders have numerous ways to interact with their tamed dragons, including taking them for joyrides, increasing their bond with their dragon, or trying to level their rider’s experience at dragon riding.

The Personality of a Dragon.

Each dragon possesses a unique personality, as shown through the Main Series, with Drogon, Viserion, and Rhaegal. Drogon is fierce and wild, Viserion displays cleverness, tameness, and affection towards Daenerys, and Rhaegal seems to strike a balance between the two. This is further explored in "Fire & Blood" during the Dance of Dragons. Here, dragons like Silverwing are portrayed as relatively docile and friendly towards strangers, while Vermithor grows more tolerant of people and increasingly receptive to new riders. To connect with this, We have introduced a variety of dragon-specific personality traits. These traits intend to complement each other naturally, influencing these dragon characters and who they interact with in many ways.
Originally, we had set out to create every dragon trait as the “dragon” equivalent of vanilla personality traits 1-1. While it worked and took us through most of the development, we occasionally ran into issues where we didn’t like how some personality traits had been grouped when different dragons had been spawned. These issues led to many conversations between Foxwillow and I, where we agreed that to make these better in gameplay and ‘realism’, we needed to create different Personality Scales and then base traits among them.
Our different scales revolve around a Dragon’s general demeanour, conflict tendency, Interactions with Humans, dominance over peers, combat strategy, whether they do better as part of a pack or as a lone wolf, and finally, their feeding habits.

The Dragon Stats / Attributes.

Developing is a funny activity. Sometimes things that sound simple can be very deceptive, and dragon statistics fell into this bucket. Of course, we knew the standard diplo, martial, stewardship, intrigue, learning array was not going to be useful for a dragon, but deciding what to replace it with has been an evolving process. We needed to think what traits would the player care about for a dragon? What should be presented vs just used in the back end? In the end, we decided on a few key statistics that we think cover the broad base of what’s important when looking at a dragon.

The first and simplest to explain is dragon size.

As expected, this is how big the dragon is. Dragons will grow as they age and, just as in the lore, will never stop growing, though the rate does slow down as they get older. Baby dragons will grow by ~30% yearly, while a 100-year-old dragon might grow only 1% larger yearly. We currently target a size of about 20 as an adolescent dragon, ~40 as an adult, and over 100 as a large dragon (think Cannibal, Vhagar, Vermithor, etc), though, of course, all of that is subject to balancing changes.

The next simplest is Temperament. We wanted a way to reflect the nature of the dragon itself. How approachable is it? Is it more like Silverwing, or like the Cannibal? Will it tear your arm off, watch warily, or approach curiously? Temperament will be largely driven by the traits of the dragon, though some events, both as it grows and afterwards, can permanently change the temperament of a dragon as its experiences change its approach to the world

This nicely leads us to Draconic Dread. You can think of this as the presence of the dragon. The fear it strikes into the hearts of men. This was created because some things, like a dragon being Skittish, would likely harm its temperament but actually make it less scary. Still, it is largely a factor of its size and temperament, and a more dreadful dragon will be more stressful to interact with. You will need to get over your fear of should you wish to claim its power for your own…

Which takes us to Taming Chance. This is exactly what it sounds like - how innately susceptible to taming a dragon is. Of course, though there is a correlation with temperament and dread, we realized that some traits would not map 1:1 to those prior concepts either. For example, though a Voracious dragon is likely of worse temperament than a Restrained one, it would actually be easier to tame as it’s very food motivated. While only important when a dragon is not yet tamed, we thought that this was such an important factor for the 99% of non-dragon rider characters that might be scouting out a dragon that it deserved its own spot.
Finally, we have Combat Effectiveness (excuse the lack of photo - icon still to be made). This is the most recent addition to the list. Though we always had a more complex structure in the back end, feedback from our QA team has shown that combat effectiveness should be its own displayed statistic rather than using size as a proxy. Of course, this will still be very dependent on a dragon’s size, but will mean that we can have additional congenital traits like Swift to reflect dragons like Meleys or Caraxes that, whilst not being the largest dragons alive, could go talon-to-talon with dragons larger than themselves.

Mysterious Origins

The true nature of dragons is debated, both in the halls of the Citadel in-universe and in the very real forums on Reddit. It’s unclear if dragons truly have a ‘gender’ as all characters in CK3 do, and to what extent a partner is required for them to lay a clutch. There are in-lore examples of ‘female’ dragons who never lay an egg, of male dragons who may have, and of mysterious eggs without clear origins. There are tales of mates, such as Vermithor and Silverwing, while others, like Dreamfyre, have none recorded but laid many. Further, its likely this will never be fully answered in the books. What seems most likely to our team is that dragons can either be fertile or not, and likely have no true gender themselves.
However, both because implementing genderless characters in CK3 would be a nightmare, and because Westeros is hardly the most progressive place, we’ve decided to take a perspective-based approach. Whatever the ‘true’ nature of dragons is, characters certainly regard them as male and female, and so we shall too - dragons' genders will be revealed over time, either at birth due to Maester’s analysis of their movements, due to riders intrinsically knowing the gender of the dragon they ride, or due to the dragon laying a clutch and proving their femininity beyond doubt.

It should be stressed that this kind of surprise will be relatively rare. Most genders will be clear by the time the dragon reaches adulthood, and such surprise egg-laying situations shouldn’t happen all that often. While this isn’t the most impactful feature gameplay-wise, we thought that it was an important reflection on the mysteriousness of dragons in ASOIAF lore, and bringing the same feeling to our mod is always something we try to do where possible. Hopefully, the more roleplay-heavy players amongst you will appreciate this extra effort!

We asked you to hype, and oh boy, hype you have been doing. We do feel we should step in to temper expectations just that little bit. Yes, you're right, there will be a bookmark coming with dragons, but it will be one bookmark. (We will dive in deep soon, we promise!) But it’s not 2 or even 3 like we have seen some people suggest. Despite how simple they may seem to play, bookmarks are actually incredibly difficult to design, particularly complex ones. Dragons has already taken a lot of focus from the team - getting one bookmark done was already a stretch goal for us. The continent that houses Europe’s flora and fauna. Its wildlife includes the varied and strange descendants of the deer, wisent, feral cattle, sheep, goats, chamois, horses and wild boar, muntjac sized rabbit descendants, the descendants of the wolf, lynx, wildcat and bear alongside the new competitors in the form of mustelid and rat descendants. On the coasts, flightless descendants of gannets, guillemots and puffins occupy niches once occupied by the great auk while cetacean and pinniped descendants continue to roam the northern ocean.
Hy-Brasilian Isles.
A set of islands that act as proxies for the islands of Britain and Ireland along with their corresponding surrounding islands.
Terra Africanus.
The home to Africa’s wildlife. It still boasts a wide array of creatures descended from today’s animals, but some truly bizarre new forms have occurred such as predatory baboons, varied forms of hyaena that include a huge bear-like species and small to medium sized descendants of the hyrax with some truly bizarre forms. Hippos have become almost fully aquatic and often make forays into lagoons. Five species of elephant descendants occupy various niches with one living a semi aquatic lifestyle on the coast. The great herds are swelled with varied antelope, zebra, buffalo, pig, giraffe and rhino descendants and watched by the descendants of the native cat and dog species who compete with the rising descendants of civets, mongooses, meerkats and mustelids.
Neo-Arabian Peninsula.
A peninsula that houses the wildlife of the old Arabian Peninsula. Notable inhabitants include pack hunting descendants of the cheetah, carnivorous descendants of the hamadryas baboon and strange camel and antelope descendants.
Terra Asia.
The home to Asia’s wildlife. Probably the most varied continent in terms of habitat, from vast steppes and pine forests in the north to flood plains and rainforests in the south, this is reflected in the wildlife.
Terra Indus.
A subcontinent connected to Terra Indus that houses India’s wildlife. One descendant of the Asian elephant has become highly specialised to life in the water and now calls the warm estuarine mangroves near the coast home. They share it with a semi aquatic form of tiger and fully aquatic descendants of the gharial. The forests and grasslands host their own bounty with scavenging descendants of the langur and the mongoose plus giant cat and canine descendants that hunt bizarre antelope, deer and bovid descendants.
Terra Australis.
Home to the wildlife of Australia and Papua New Guinea. Its unique wildlife includes varied and often large descendants of wombats and bandicoots, deer-like and ground sloth-like descendants of kangaroos, wolf-to-big cat sized descendants of the quoll and Tasmanian devil, armoured echidnas, tree dwelling and rabbit like descendants of the wallabies, wallaroo and potoroo, giant emus, huge goannas, dingo descendants resembling bears, land-dwelling and massive descendants of crocodiles, monkey-like possums, panda-like koalas, bone-eating skinks and carnivorous descendants of the cassowary.
New Albion.
An archipelago that houses species from the Bismarck Archipelago such as New Britain and New Ireland along with more recent land formations. The wildlife reflects that found in old Papua, but is unique to the area. It includes a flightless descendant of the New Guinea harpy eagle and strange descendants of native marsupials and reptiles.
New Tasmania.
Kept separate from the mainland of Terra Australis, the far more temperate environment of New Tasmania hosts a unique set of animals adapted to the smaller landmass.
Terra America Septentrionalis.
The home of the wildlife native to North and Central America. The native wildlife has been joined by immigrants from Asia thanks to the new land bridge. The natives include diverse descendants of the mountain lion, wolf and bear species, numerous descendants of deer, bison and peccaries, giant alligators and of course, new larger mustelid predator competitors. This includes relatives of creatures living in Terra America Meridionalis.
Terra America Meridionalis.
The continent that houses the wildlife of South America. Its wildlife includes horse-like and elephant-like descendants of the tapir, larger descendants of the various giant rodent species, bear like sloths, giraffe like descendants of the guanaco, flightless descendants of the vampire bat, giant predatory birds much like those that existed in South America’s prehistory, hyena and fox like descendants of the South American possums, apex predators descending from the Amazon giant otter, varied types of armadillo and unique cat, fox, dog and bear descendants found nowhere else
Taino Archipelago.
An archipelago that houses the wildlife of the Caribbean. Local wildlife include seal-like sloths, giant hutia descendants and a terrestrial descendant of the Cuban crocodile.
Terra Antarctica.
The continent that houses the wildlife of Antarctica. Its inhabitants include varied species of ground dwelling bats, giant descendants of albatrosses and penguins, marsupials and reptiles from the offshore islands of Australia and a leopard seal descendant that lives like a crocodile.
Sunda Peninsula.
A peninsula that houses wildlife from the regions of Malaysia and the Sunda Islands. The only exceptions to this rule have been the islands of the Philippines, Sulawesi, Komodo and Flores. Descendants of the Sumatran tiger prowl the jungle in packs while semi aquatic descendants of local rhino species and the dwarf elephants of Borneo bask in the river systems The descendants of the Komodo dragon have split; one remains largely on land while another has taken to the sea. In the New Philippines, the descendants of binturongs, civets, mongooses and leopard cats compete for food which include the descendants of native pigs, badgers, buffalo and deer.
Greater Zanzibar.
An island neighbouring Terra Africa. The land is largely grassland and hosts a set of animals related to those found in mainland Africa, but unique. These include a small species of elephant, flightless descendants of the secretary bird among others.
New Madagascar.
The new island home of Madagascar’s native wildlife. Notable creatures include new species of giant lemur, leopard-like giant fossa, wolf-like giant mongoose, giant birds, descendants of reintroduced pygmy hippos and giant tortoises, bandicoot-like tenrecs, larger descendants of the native giant rat, terrestrial crocodiles and rabbit-sized chameleons.
New Comoros Archipelago.
An archipelago neighbouring New Madagascar. The native lemur population has diversified with some even swimming between islands while dodging sharks, snakes and crocodiles.
Mauritius-Reunion Archipelago.
An archipelago that houses the wildlife of Reunion and Mauritius. It hosts a unique set of birds found nowhere else alongside giant tortoises.
Greater Seychelles Archipelago.
An archipelago that houses the wildlife of the Seychelles as well as the Maldives, Andaman and Sentinel Islands. The giant tortoises are the most notable inhabitants, but some are semi aquatic unlike their neighbours and capable of traversing the sea to some extent.
New Year’s Islands.
A small group of islands that houses the wildlife of Christmas Island. The native crabs have continued to diversify while bats and birds have begun to occupy previously empty niches.
Marruni.
An archipelago that houses the wildlife of the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, New Caledonia and other surrounding islands, new and old. Fauna includes descendents of the kagu and other native birds, several descendents of the native skinks (the largest being as big as a border collie), strange new species of gecko and three species of terrestrial crocodile.
Havaiki.
An archipelago that houses the wildlife of Aotearoa, Tonga, Samoa, Fiji, Tuvalu, the Cook Islands, the Society Islands and various new and old islands. Fauna includes ground-dwelling fox-sized bats, larger descendants of the tuatara, kiwi and kakapo (among others) and eagle-like descendants of the kea alongside various other oddities.
Macronesia.
An archipelago that houses the wildlife of Palau to Neo-Hawaii. It provides a system of beaches for nesting seabirds and sea dwelling reptiles as well as a fractured land bridge. The native wildlife mostly comprises the descendants of castaways and flying species.
Neo-Galapagos.
An archipelago that houses the wildlife of the Galapagos Islands. The giant tortoises are now far larger, the marine iguanas are now fully aquatic alongside the penguins and some finches are now flightless.
Neo-Hawaii.
An island chain that houses the wildlife of Hawaii. Fauna includes giant ducks, tortoises and a flightless ant eating kiwi-sized descendants of one of the modern honeycreeper species.
Neo-Rapa Nui Archipelago.
A small island chain as remote as Rapa Nui. It boasts significant seabird colonies while forests have taken over much of the land.
Primavera.
A medium island in the Indus Ocean strewn with thick jungle growing out of hard rocky terrain. While mammals are rare, the island is bountiful with reptiles, amphibians and numerous arthropods that, thanks to the higher oxygen density, have grown to impressive sizes and make up a good chunk of the predatory niches on land, in the trees and even in the swampy waterways that carve their way through the lowlands.
New Zanzibar Strait.
A stretch of sea that separates Terra Africanus from New Zanzibar. Small islets create a mangrove environment that intermingles with tropical reefs, creating a unique fusion of oceanic, semi aquatic and terrestrial life.
Indus Ocean.
The Indus is one of the core centres of ocean biodiversity with numerous atolls and reefs. These locations are a hub for new forms of ocean life while islets provide nesting grounds for birds, sea turtles and sea crocodiles.
Tangaroa Ocean.
The largest ocean on Earth Lab. Among the atolls and reefs, vibrant new fish species dwell alongside new coral species, cephalopods like a pack hunting descendant of the Humboldt squid, a swimming sea slug descendant, various new sharks and rays, serpentine descendants of toothed whales that hunt smaller species alongside aquatic penguins, crocodiles and new species of turtle, big and small.
Proteus Ocean.
The Proteus boasts fewer islands, but still plays host to numerous forms of ocean life. Alongside the numerous schools of fish swim the new serpentine hunting whales, fully aquatic seals, huge manatee descendants, giant sharks and penguin like descendants of guillemots and gannets that swim alongside the now fully aquatic penguin species.
Turgis Ocean/Great Ice Shelf.
While solid land in the Turgis is rare now, the Great Ice Shelf still provides a home for those creatures hardy enough to eke out a living. These include a colony of ice-burrowing seabirds, ice burrowing semi-aquatic colonies of flightless midge descendants, giant sea hairs that dwell beneath the ice, predatory lobsters, aquatic penguin descendants and predatory descendants of seals and toothed whales.
Tundris Ocean.
Largely covered by ice, the Neo-Arctic ocean regions host unique new species which include aquatic polar bears capable of bringing down small whales.

Expected Cost to Re-roof 100 Year Old Home?
I'm a relatively new homeowner and in a bit of a pickle.
Tl;dr I've got a 28 square cedar shake roof covered with two layers of shingles that needs to be replaced and I'm getting quotes in the $1k/sq range. Thoughts?
The home is a three story brick colonial, built in 1923. Best information put the existing roof having been done as recently as 2008. Well, that being 15 years ago we're getting into the roundabout time period for replacement and especially so since this house still has its original cedar shake roof...under two layers of asphalt shingles.
Apparently this is very commonly done, but very much not recommended to do, yet people did it to save money. Either way, fast forward and I end up having a damn raccoon find its way into the attic and she ended up damaging a section of previously water damaged cedar before we could get her out.
Note*** my homeowners insurance policy specifically excludes damage caused by animals, it does not specify between vermin/pests/rodents/wildlife unfortunately.
That whole endeavor revealed the unpatachability of the roof, its overall condition, and what my next steps are. If we try to do just the nasty section shown below, it'll involve quite a bit of blending to make it function, at a cost of nearly 1/4 of the whole roof.
Currently, since it's a cedar shake base, we're looking at a full tear off down to the boards and re-roof from full fresh plywood up. Of course it's a complicated hip style roof with numerous dormers, chimneys, etc and mostly above 20ft height. We're also going to need to add ventilation as the original structure had none since cedar is self venting.
I've had three companies come and look at it and every one had the same wincing reaction when they saw what I'm working with.
  • First company quickly ballparked a minimum of 30k and never got back to me with a formal quote.
  • The second was a smaller outfit with no online presence, recommended via word of mouth, and he looked at everything from the ground and gave me a number of 24k verbally.
  • Lastly I reached out to an area veteran of 20+ years with a 4.7* average and tons of positive reviews. Their estimator went up on the roof, inspected a bunch of stuff, took a headcam video, presented numerous issues, actually measured the roof size (~28 square), offered shingle color options etc and priced it out at 29k.
Now, ~$1000/sq seems pretty high to me, especially with basic research showing people paying $450-650 depending on region, but given the complexity of my roof and the extent of work being done, I'm really not sure if I've got a good price here. I believe most of those averages are simple rip and replace of asphalt shingles with plywood replaced as needed. Regardless of the route I go, I'm likely taking out a HELOC to pay for it as the house as appreciated ~30-47k since I've purchased it.
What are your thoughts on the situation, and how would you proceed?

Cardston, Alberta--(Newsfile Corp. - May 10, 2024) - American Creek Resources Ltd. (TSXV: AMK) (OTCQB: ACKRF) ("the Corporation" or "American Creek") is pleased to announce that crews from JV partner Tudor Gold are on site preparing camp and drill locations for the upcoming 2024 exploration program at the flagship Treaty Creek Project, located in the Golden Triangle of Northwest British Columbia. Two diamond drills were mobilized to the project on May 7th and 8th and drilling commenced on May 9th.
Phase 1 of the 2024 exploration program is expected to consist of approximately 10,000 meters (m) of diamond drilling at the Goldstorm Deposit. The primary objective of the Phase 1 drill program is to expand and upgrade the recently released Mineral Resource Estimate (news release dated April 8, 2024). Several drill holes have been designed as step-out drilling to the high-grade Supercell One (SC-1) system identified in 2023 (news release dated February 1, 2024). Supercell One is a gold dominant, quartz-sulphide, breccia-hosted structural corridor open to the northwest, north and east.
Previous drilling results from Supercell One include the following high-grade gold intercepts:
  • GS-23-176-W1: 15.00 m @ 15.64 grams/tonne (g/t) AuEQ (14.89 g/t gold (Au), 4.72 g/t silver (Ag), 0.60% copper (Cu))
  • GS-22-134: 25.50 m @ 9.96 g/t AuEQ (9.66 g/t Au, 1.23 g/t Ag, 0.24% Cu)
    • Including 4.50 m @ 20.86 g/t AuEQ (20.61 g/t Au, 1.50 g/t Ag, 0.20% Cu)
  • GS-23-179: 12.00 m @ 10.07 g/t AuEQ (9.78 g/t Au, 1.35 g/t Ag, 0.23% Cu)

Drilling will take place from two drill pads that were built last fall in preparation for this program. One drill rig is positioned just beyond the northern limit of known mineralization and the second rig is located at the northeastern boundaries of the Goldstorm Deposit. Drilling will focus on an area located between 200-250 m northeast of the current Mineral Resource limit.
  • Diamond Drill 1 is to be mobilized to Pad 12 (Section A) to complete three holes. Drill holes 12A and 12B will further test the 100 m down-dip extension of the CS-600 domain and the projection of the SC-1 system to the north and at depth. Drill hole 12C is an infill hole, testing the continuity and following up on the impressive results from drill holes GS-23-176-W1 (1.23 g/t Au, 2.93 g/t Ag, 0.12% Cu over 601.5 m) and GS-23-179 (1.16 g/t Au, 2.25 g/t Ag, 0.19% Cu over 223.5 m). Our planned hole 12C is estimated to intersect a distance of approximately 140 m east of GS-23-176-W1 and 120 m west of GS-23-179.
  • Diamond Drill 2 is to be mobilized to Pad 13 (Section B), currently the furthest northeast step-out on the deposit to date, to complete four drill holes. All four drill holes are targeting the northeast extension of the CS-600 domain and the nested SC-1 system in a regularly spaced drill fence. Drill holes 13A and 13B are to target a northward 200-m step-out of the lower CS-600 domain to the northwest and east of drill hole GS-23-179 by approximately 120 m. Drill holes 13C and 13D are designed to increase drilling density and potentially upgrade the resource category from Inferred to Indicated in the CS-600 and DS5 domains, laterally and at depth.

Subsequent exploration drilling intersected the same auriferous, hydrothermal, late-stage breccia zone with drill holes GS-23-176-W1 with 15.64 g/t AuEQ over 15.0 m (14.89 g/t Au, 4.72 g/t and Ag, 0.60% Cu) and GS-23-179 with 10.07 g/t AuEq over 12.0 m (9.78 g/t Au, 1.35 g/t Ag and 0.23% Cu). These three holes identified a geological target that occurs along a 400-m down-dip projection near the upper contact area of the CS-600 domain.
"In addition to testing the SC-1 high-grade breccia, the proposed Phase 1 drill holes are designed to expand and convert much of the inferred mineralization within the CS-600 and DS5 domains that is estimated to contain approximately six million ounces of gold-equivalent resource (Inferred) grading 1.25 g/t AuEq. Our concept is to add as much high-grade ounces to our current Estimated Mineral Resource of 26.9 million ounces of 1.19 g/t AuEq. With the completion of this year's program, we expect to publish a Preliminary Economic Assessment of our Goldstorm Deposit planned for release in late Q1 or early Q2 2025."

The Goldstorm Deposit has been categorized into three dominant mineral domains and several smaller mineral domains. The CS-600 domain largely consists of nested pulses of diorite intrusive stocks and hosts the majority of the copper mineralization within the Goldstorm Deposit. CS-600 has an Indicated Mineral Resource of 15.65 Moz AuEQ grading 1.22 g/t AuEQ (9.99 Moz gold grading 0.78 g/t, 2.73 Blbs copper grading 0.31%, 73.47 Moz silver grading 5.71 g/t) and an Inferred Mineral Resource of 2.86 Moz AuEQ grading 1.20 g/t AuEQ (1.87 Moz gold grading 0.79 g/t, 475.6 Mlb copper grading 0.29%, 13.4 Moz silver grading 5.63 g/t). 2024.05.13 17:43 Germanaboo [Star Wars] "The Republic would have defeat..." No, they wouldn't have, shut the f up

I've already made a rant long ago shitting on the CIS Wankers (or Clankers or whatever their nickname is supposed to be), so I guess it's now time to dunk on the Republic and maybe the Empire fanboys eventually.
Now, this rant is as opposed to the previous one not dunking on the Faction itself, but rather debunking a common claim you can witness in the Youtube Comment section: That the Republic would have done better than the Empire in fighting the civil war (The OT one, not the Prequel one) and that's a load of bullcrap.
The common arguments of the people making this claim are: 1st The Republic has a more competent leadership 2nd The Republic has a better standing army
Now to the first claim, it's complete bollocks for the simple reason there never was a leadership change during the transition from the Republic to the Galactic Empire. Most of the staff like Tarkin, Palpatine, Yularwn and all the other Middle managers were already in power during the Prequels. The only noteable change was the eradication of the Jedi with Order 66, but I doubt it was a serious damage to the Military leadership considering the Jedis being arrogant and incompetent the most times. For every General Skywalker (who also joined the Empire), Kenobi or Plo Koon you get ten idiots who are better left off leading younglings rather than an entire Clone battalion, yet alone a whole Legion. Now it's undeniable that the middle management of the Empire more often than not corrupt and incompetent, but you have to remember, these were the same guys who served or would have served in the Clone Wars and that was a vital thematic point of the Prequels and the clone wars series, the Republic being a corrupt and missamanaged goverment which became the Empire already before they officially named themselves this way.
This leads me to the 2nd argument Republic Fans often use, that being the supposed disparity of the Military equipment between the Empire and the Republic. And to some extent its true, the Clones were superior to the Stormtroopers, their DC 15 and DC 15s blasters were more capable and versatile than the E-11, both their phase 1 and Phase 2 armors were superior to the Mass prodcued Stormtrooper counterpart, but here's the thing: The Stormtroopers for most of the war were sufficient enough, they were not fighting standing militaries, but poorly equipped, trained and led rebell cells with absolute efficiency. Their armor and blasters didn't need to be capable, because they were not fighting war machines like Droidakas or B2 Battle droids, but mostly people whose guns could barely knock down a stormtrooper. Those firearms we see used by the rebells in the movies are not some scrap rifles, those are actual military grade firearms (I know militsry grade in real life doesn't equal quality, but the star wars universe operates on different rules) often superior to those of the stormtroopers. Calling the armor of the stormtroopers useless because it fails to protect in 1% of all of the situations is like calling the lasgun from Warhammer 40K weak because it cannot kill Space Marine. Technically true, but its more likely a random rebelling farmer without any armor will be hit by it than anything else. And if I'm already at it, the remark Rex said in the Rebells series which is often cited by the People the rant is directed to is supposed to be taken with a grain of salt. Stormtroopers can see through their helmets, they just need the access code for it to work which Rex couldn't know because he knocked the original Wearer of the armor out.
But also generally, the Empire didn't phase out Republican Equipment because they were stupid. Again, the Empire comprised of peopme who experienced and learnt from the Seperatist war. And one thing they learnt is that xlone troopers were not worth the cost. Sure a clone does the work of 2 to 3 stormtroopers, but the costs and time it takes to create and train a clone equals to the time and costs it takes to abduct hundreds of random children from their home planets and train them to stormtroopers and Billions of people who voluntarly join the Imperial Army (they were seperste from the Stormtroopers). What use is a 3 man army if you can deploy millions of people simultaniously in every corner of the galaxy which is what the Empire struggled more with: Projection of Power. As already said, Stormtroopers were more than sufficient to take out rebell cells, the only problem was to have stormtroopers on every corner of imperial Territory. I also wanna add that the additional purchase of 5 mio. would have bankrupted the Republic according to this one episode of Clone wars where Senator Padme Amidala advocated against this very purchase. Together with the 6 mio. clones who actually served this are 11 mio. clones. To hold and secure the majority of a galaxy bigger than our milky way.
Another piece of equipment frequently overrated by Republic fans is the Venator class ship, which is often compared and held in higher regard than the Imperial Class Star destroyer. The argument for it being that the Empire struggled with Small fighters like X-Wings for example more to which the Imperial Class ST was not really efficient against while the Venator could could many more ships which were better suited for the job. An Imperial Class Star destroyer from my memory holds about 40-70 tie fighters. And while Tie Fighters were indeed inferior to X-Wings the capabilities of their pilots were certainly not. The Empire never struggled with numbers, in fact id had so many fighters because its main fighter, that being the ties, were cheap and quick to produce and maintain. And despite their lack of shields they usually dominated their respective fields, we as the aufience just don't get to see it because the Star wars movies are from the perspective of the specific Rebells who by the story and writer were designed to win. In other words: PLOT ARMOR The Imperial Ties defeated most Rebell fighters with ease, heck even in the movies where the rebells often won they proved to be a threat, taking out many rebell X-wings in the process. And even with all the fighters the Venator class ship can hold, it couldn't fit the doctrine of the Empire anyway. It's the projection of force again, small fighters may win the dogfight, but the battle is won by the bigger ships and the Venator with its terrible arament sucked at it, which is why the Imperials, and I say again, which were the same people who have seen and deployed Venators replaced it with something more sufficient. And contrary to popular belief the ISD Star destroyer was sufficient. It was the perfect ship for the empire. A single Star destroyer could field barely enough tie fighters to fend off most rebell squadrons, enough firepower to overpower any smaller fleet, enough firepower and stormtroopers to capture a small planet and enough armor to take on ships of its one size. A Venator couldn't do it, at least not alone. And the Empire would have needed Venators all over the galaxy.
TL/DR: The Empire was made up of the same people who ruled the Republic. Furthermore the decisions the Empire made were usually rational or at least justified from their perspective. Therefore saying that the Republican Army could have won the civil war bdcause they were superior is stupid. The Empire not only fielded at least 10 times the fire- and manpower of the Republic, the civil war they fought was lost for other reasons, not military defeats which were more like the final nail of the coffin.

is a longstanding, midcore guild looking to recruit new friends to progress with us in Dragonflight and beyond! Through the years we've always striven to do our very best, which has included Ahead of the Curve and many early-to-mid mythic boss kills on our "casual", six hours a week raid schedule. Our goal is simply to progress as far as possible within the two raid days we have, and enjoy doing so with our close-knit community.
Many of our members have been in Cutting Edge or hardcore raiding guilds in past expansions dating back to Vanilla. Today, we find ourselves a little older and with a little more life in the way, most of us with careers and families. The majority of our player base are facing the boss called Adulthood, in their late 20s to their late 30s, they still want to kill bosses efficiently but not without also having fun with our friends while doing it. Our policies are pretty relaxed, but when it comes down to raiding, we do take new content and our raid times seriously. We expect our members to be diligent raiders, showing up on time and fully prepared. We understand that real life is more important than a game, and occasional absences will happen. With this in mind, we simply ask that our members keep us informed on Discord in the event they will miss a raid and maintain as close to 100% attendance as possible during progression.
Currently, has a roster size of approximately 25 raiders of varying desires ranging from mythic progression to casual orientation, including a number of new recruits. Our core has been together for many years and values the relationships we've built together as friends over progress in game. We expect everyone to be dedicated to the game and pushing the limit, but do not consider ourselves a Cutting Edge guild at this time. Finally, we expect everyone to act like adults in our guild; take responsibility for errors or mistakes you make, have thick skin and be able to take a joke, and be open to constructive criticism - we're happy to coach, but you've got to put in the effort first and foremost. That said, we're an inclusive guild that is welcoming to all - just understand that raid spots are earned, and you may be asked to sit on progression encounters if a certain composition is needed or depending on the extent of your past raid experience. We operate as a team, not as individuals.
At the moment, we are looking for raiders with at least AOTC (and ideally Mythic) experience as we progress further into Mythic.
