In Islam, I see people defend Aisha's age by saying that "When reviewing the available evidence, we not only find that early marriage was normal in many early societies, it also made moral sense given their circumstances." (yaqueeninstitute). Those who deny her age being so young, I ask for them to look at this quote: "`Aishah who narrated: I used to play with dolls in the presence of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and I had female friends who used to play along with me. They would hide from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) whenever he entered, but he would call them to join and play with me." I'm not sure what adults would be playing with dolls. Anyways if the prophet's word is forever, that doesn't hold up with "everyone did that back then", as "everyone" isn't being worshipped in modern times. It is irrelevant if everyone else did it: that whataboutism doesn't excuse jack squat

2024.05.15 16:39 Particular-Camera612 I think I know one reason why loads of people stick up for Halloween Kills.....
Because it's got by far the most fanservice/fan pleasing elements. Halloween 2018 had some of this already but Kills extends it even further.
Finally, Halloween Kills also references many of the sequels too and has the feel of one of them just as much if not more so than the OG film. There were even people who enjoyed the movie who said that it was partly because it felt like an 80s slasher movie. I'm not saying everyone who liked the film is of this exact mindset but I feel that part of the positivity comes from these aspects.
Does that explain people's dislike of the portrayal of Tommy Doyle or what they found to be overbearing Mob commentary or the characters not being smarter? It doesn't, but those are the most common criticisms I see and people can love the things I pointed out whilst disliking these.

- More returning characters, some of which are played by the same actors.
- That opening flashback with it's visual recreation of Carpenter's film and the fake Loomis.
- Upped violence and death scenes, which appeals to Slasher fans regardless of if they in any way care about quality in these films.
- The constant references/talking about the events of the 78 film. (Brackett even quotes his One Good Scare line for nothing other than a clap moment)
- Doing things like bringing back Hawkins and redeeming Cameron, appeasing those who liked the former and trying to win over those who disliked the latter.
- The character drama being downplayed in favour of tackling the immediate threat of MM.

Origins of the Treacherous Liar is my story, but it's also the name my ex-partner gave me. Let me give you some background: my ex comes from a troubled family, with a history of substance abuse and dysfunction. When we first met, I saw potential in him despite his struggles, and I tried to support him.
Can I breathe yet? Am I allowed to? Do others and YOURSELF give you permission to breathe? These questions echo through the corridors of my mind as I navigate the treacherous waters of my past, trying to make sense of the tumultuous journey that brought me here.
Loneliness has been a constant companion, casting shadows over my life like storm clouds on a bleak horizon. It's a feeling that can drive even the sanest person to the brink of madness, twisting perceptions and clouding judgment.
All my life, I was the outcast, the odd one out, the invisible woman, and the black sheep, well for at least with my school life and my family life. This is at least some aspect of being so lonely for so long and it can play on many minds, it can make people crazy to the point where their actions might lead to dangerous things. What things do you ask? Well, that might be the very point of this story.
In the midst of this emotional turmoil, I found myself entangled with a partner whose demons mirrored my own. His struggles with addiction and manipulation became the backdrop of our relationship, overshadowing any hope of happiness.
Despite all this, I stayed with him, even after having children together. I wanted to believe he would change, but he only became more erratic and unreliable. He would disappear for days, come home high, and even stole medication meant for my pain relief during childbirth.

I have a 6 mo golden female who is very very playful and friendly, only she takes a few minutes to warm up! We moved to the city from the country where she had limited socialization opportunities. Shes mainly played with our friends 90lb male golden who is very large and hyperactive but also super submissive and they got along great. She was also timid meeting him the first few times, now they play immediately. At the start she would stand there looking a bit unsure as he sniffed her and tried to play, then after a few minutes she would jump in with him.
Now in a city, I don’t know anybody to offer her playdates with. Dog parks I think would overwhelm her having so many run up to her and I also can’t garuantee she wouldn’t get bitten and make it worse.
When we pass a dog and the owners let it come up to her (yes, both leashes but some people have no manners and don’t think to ask) she either stands there with her tail down (not super tucked but definitely the nervous tail) and looking at the ground while they sniff her, OR she lays down (still can tell she has a tucked tail) and freezes while they sniff her. Sometimes she rolls onto her back and freezes while they sniff her. She does seem to jump into play mode quicker these days as she’ll start wanting to play after 15ish seconds instead of multiple minutes of standing there.
She doesn’t have a mean bone in her body but my biggest concern is her developing fear aggression. I don’t want her to suddenly snap at a dog when she is frozen and staring at the ground, I’d assume that means she’s overwhelmed as well as nervous? I do my best to keep moving past dogs that approach us but as you all know, things happen and either way I would like a dog that is confident and able to play nice with others.
How should I go about these scenarios to make her feel the most confident and have the best chance at become a safe and well socialized dog? How would you recommend I go about socializing her in general? I’ve looked up socialization classes near us, but it looks like most of them only allow puppies under five months

We went on the ship in Nov and again in April and this is my April ship review.
It is the same itinerary, except we didn't get to Bermuda in Nov due to weather.
Main reason we keep going on this ship is because the port is driving distance and it is cheap. It was 1300$ for 4 people inside room. When we missed Bermuda, they gave us 300 in onboard credit which can be used for tips or you get it back in cash at the end of the trip. So hard to beat their price and I don't know if I want to pay 1000$ to upgrade from golden corral food to off the strip Vegas buffet food.
For embarkation, this time, we walk right through security whereas last time, it took one whole hour to get through security. They gaved priority boarding to family with stroller after you check in.
The room was ready by 1, but some places were not clean like the remote control was sticky and inside the draws and wardrobe was dusty. The floor in the hallways were not as clean as before. Our room attendant and his assistant were friendlier but not as efficient as the last one. Definitely recommend to bring some disinfectant wipes.
They have Heinz ketchup and condiments now, before they had home made ketchup that was too sweet. Some food was too dry but there was always something you can find. They had more watermelon and pineapple this cruise, might be seasonal. Last cruise was mostly melon and apple and pears and they were not very fresh. Their cold salad bar was so delicious. Even the pizza station has become more Americanized in terms of toppings and more square and thick crust. Last time, it was mostly the white pizza, red pizza and cheese pizza. This time, we rarely see the white or red pizza, it was mostly cheese, pepperoni and pizza with a lot of toppings. I feel like there was definitely more bar server walking around this time compare to last time. Number of people cleaning the buffet was pretty good. Some upholstery on the chairs were definitely wearing down. This ship can definitely use a dry dock soon. They do southern comfort food really really well, their Mac and cheese, BBQ ribs were super good. Also they had congee and fried rice for breakfast every morning. They lack Chinese food for dinner and lunch and there is no Chinese menu even thought it is one of their biggest group on this ship. The only Chinese translation they had was on the water dispenser.
The crew in the main dining room is definitely more outgoing. There was a guy with guitar and a crew singing by dessert. The food was bad, they can't cook a ham and cheese omelette correctly. Their brunch menu of souther fried chicken sandwich was like McDonald chicken sandwich except it was cold like I don't think they heat it up long enough. Breakfast was hard if you have a milk and egg allergy. They do brunch on sea days and during the last sea day, they had a brand new menu which meant everything was super delay but the food was so good. It was like breakfast from around the world. They had English breakfast, France was French toast, Japan had fried chicken with rice. The French toast and fried chicken was amazing. On to dinner, you are assigned a time and we got 8:30pm. The lobster and fish dish were dry. The steak was overcooked and dry. I gaved up on the main dining room after 2 nights with 2 small toddler, it wasn't worth the effort to sit down for 1.5 hours for 50/50 chance of good food. The server are more outgoing but the food got worse. Their Caribbean night food in the main dining room was delicious!
I love docking in Bermuda for three days, it made the going on and off the ship super easy and no long wait. Bermuda was awesome.
We didn't try their kids club because our kids won't go. But here is some information. If your kid is under 3.99 years old and not potty trained, they can go to the baby club which is available during sea days for 2 hours. They have two time slot and first come first serve when you sign up the day before. Their idea of potty training is the kid goes into the bathroom all by themselves and the staff stands outside, so the kid should be able to independently do everything themselves. They do have open sessions in the kids area for family to go together. They have Lego, duplo, switch and playhouse and markers. They also have events at night around 7:30 like dance party or sport event which are drop off or parents can stay. They will also take your child after the appetizer course in the main dining room and bring them to the bigs buffet section and feed them and then watch them afterwards.
They have a outdoor pool, Indoor pool, adult only pool and a splash pad with a 1 feet deep pool. The adult only pool is on the back of the ship right next to the walking track which means you will have old people and young people walking through the area constantly. And they don't really enforce the adult only part. Like kids were standing in the general area watching the sunset and no one told them to go away. The splash pad and kiddie pool was not open last time, so my kids had a lot of fun this time in the splash pad. The splash pad and the water slide are in the same area, so my partner and I took turns on the water slide. Last time no one can tell us why it was closed or when it will be reopen again.
If the weather is bad outside, there was no where inside the ship that was quiet and you can still see the ocean. Every lounge and bar and sitting area had music playing and they set the volume so loud. The only quiet area was the back of the buffet. The music on this ship is too loud.
The shows are still the same, there are more broken parts on the led screen on the main stage. Compare to Nov, they are missing 1 male singer, 1 female singer, 1 male dancer, 1 female dancer. The magician act was same but 2 new magician. The comedy act was a different guy and he was boring. They have two shows on the circle stage that is 12$ if you but it beforehand or 18$ on the ship. It is free for kids under 4. It comes with a alcohol or no alcohol drink. I say the show is worth 2$ if you minus the cost of alcohol drink. It was call Houdini but there was no real magician, it was all singing and dancing. Only two of the crew had circus skills.
Overall, I would do this cruise again because if we don't make it to Bermuda, it would be like 900$ for a week where I don't have to cook or make my room.

2024.05.15 16:19 Shoddy-Pride-1321 Is it me or Frozen resembles anime?
Not so much the style but the overall storytelling. I'm not very familiar with anime tbh, apart from a couple of Ghibli films which I want to get more into. Yet I've noticed something in Frozen's storytelling that resembles more those films than any other Disney films or western animation overall.
First of all, I think it's the lack of a black-and-white villain which we usually see in western media and especially Disney. Evil for the sake of being evil, villains who love to steal the show. There's none of that in Frozen. We see a more grounded portrayal. That gives Frozen a level of maturity, nuance and complexity that is often seen in Ghibli films.
Ghibli films are animated films which often have this level of seriousness to them, they are poignant and thought-provoking. Not that Disney hasn't done serious themes before but because of western culture's idea of animated movies being more appealing to kids, they often have a more lighthearted approach.
We can still argue Frozen 1 is a lighthearted movie. It still follows the Disney formula yet throughout it the formula is constantly being deconstructed. Think of Olaf and how he plays the role of the comic relief and yet he has one of the most emotional lines in the movie. He's not there just for the laughs but he has a central role in bringing Anna and Elsa together because he represents their bond. They actually gave depth to his character. And speaking of seriousness and complexity, Frozen has Elsa, a character who was initially a villain and because the writers understood the flaw in that they changed it to deliver us an emotional journey of two sisters finding each other again after long years of pain and struggle.
And then comes Frozen 2, which takes what the first movie did and brings in an even more mature and complex theme. You can see the shift in tone. I mean has Disney ever done a song like "The Next Right Thing" before? Even the introduction of the spirits and the Northuldra, which were meant to represent the Sami culture. The care and thought that went into the cultural representation, brings an extra layer of beauty to the film. It's not the best cultural representation but it's a far cry from Pocahontas or Aladdin for example. Ghibli films are all films that are rooted in culture and they are the best at that game but to me Frozen comes close too.
All of the above makes me think that Frozen might have been inspired from anime and Ghibli films. It is nowhere near those films of course but it feels to me at least different from what Disney used to do. Given that Disney has lost it's magic long ago because they prioritize money over telling a story, Frozen and Frozen 2 gives me a little hope. There was a quote from an article I've read a while back that said "One of the reasons Frozen was a successful franchise is that it's completely comfortable with it's own identity. It wants to tell a story of two sisters and that's what it does."
Thinking back it would have been easy to make Elsa a villain and have a story of good vs evil. It would have been easy to introduce us a similar character to Elsa yet they introduced us to the Sami culture. They took the risk and it paid off.

Since we change form every turn and have many physical ressources, Surprise Attack is a good addition as well. Not that Colossus Aggression was lacking in fire power XD. Perseverance is the best addition in this pack. I don't need to explain why. Aggression : I played a lot of allies to help me with side schemes. You can't rush Red Skull. Guards, tough cards and even the Red House Side Scheme will force you to take your time. Justice : This is just bullying the Red Skull. You get so much value from thwarting side schemes with Clear the Area and Skilled Investigator. Meanwhile, you get to one shot most minions. Leadership : Black Knight is a pretty good ally to remove all the tough cards in this scenario. You can use Rapid Response to have Maria Hill or Shadowcat thwart the entire game. Protection : Again I played many allies to help with the side schemes. With Med Team, Shadowcat can stay the entire game and ignore the Crisis Icons. Overall Match up: Colossus does not have thwart events. A villain that gets a side scheme every turn sounds scary. But it's actually one of the easiest match up so far. Red Skull's biggest strength is that he often gains tough cards. He also have guards and a Side Scheme that prevents damage. So you cannot rush Red Skull, even with his low 28 hit points. If you are unlucky, he will get his piercing gun. With Colossus, it can be difficult to remove. But you can still stun Red Skull, making the gun useless. Colossus has two huge advantages: - Shadowcat lets you ignore two side schemes that have negative "when defeated" effect. - You own tough cards and stun entirely prevent Red Skull from using his huge ATK. Ignoring those two side schemes also mean that you will get the side scheme with positive "when defeated" effects more often. You will get huge turns with a free Nick Fury. You can also count on "discard a non elite minion" to get rid of a guard with "when defeated" or a huge minion with 5 hit points and a tough card. Red Skull has no cards to surprise kill Shadowcat so you can easily keep her the entire game. If you really want to bully Red Skull, go for Justice. But he is easy in all aspects. Hey there! Please recommend me a novel ( Can be any type, western, japanese ln, chinese, korean etc.). I just need one thing. The female mc must be obsessed with the male mc. Like crazy in love with him, to the point that she hates anyone who even slightly bad of him. Now before you recommend me Regressor Instruction Manual, stop. I've already tried to read it, and I hated it. But not because of it's fmc,she was perfect. But the reason is actually the mc, which brings me to the second condition, I want the male mc to be kinda like the one in RIM, but minus the part of being physically weak, and willing to submit to other people( even if it is for the sake of achieving his goals). I want him to powerful (OP if that's okay), as well as arrogant even to never bow in front of anyone, not even in front of people stronger than him. I (42M) recently had a conversation with a female friend (43F) of mine, and we were talking about the fact that I had real trouble with romantic relationships (I haven't had one in a long time). At some point I jokingly proposed she should set me up with one of her female friends, to which she replied that they were all already married. I jokingly replied something "aah, who knows, some of those relationships might not last, and then it's my time to shine". At that point she seemed quite insulted and said coldly "I don't know, what do you have to offer to a woman in a relationship?". At this point I backed off and just said "My undivided attention and loyalty of course", before clarifying that this was just a joke.
But I can't really stop thinking about this - in retrospect it is clear that the subtext is that in her opinion I actually have nothing to offer and that it is no wonder that I have trouble finding a mate. The way she said it also implied that I was quite impertinent to even think along those lines - as if I was obviously some sort of unworthy creature. This I find quite hurtful, because it plays into my deep insecurity that keeps wondering if I am somehow fundamentally flawed enough to be unlovable. I also don't want to bring it up with her again, because it seems unproductive. At this point I'm wondering if this bespeaks a deep lack of respect for me as a person and I am questioning whether I want to stay friends with her.
Have you ever had an experience like this, how would you deal with this both internally (how would you let go of this interaction) and externally (how would you behave towards this friend)?
I'm also a bit flabbergasted what this even means - she presents herself as a modern emancipated woman subscribing to the idea of equal rights in the relationship - why would I have to add anything "on top" except myself?

Writer: Well, yes, it's Very similar to that.
Producer: So, Isn't that kind of a rip-off? Whats the point of making this game if its gonna be a Complete rip-off?
Writer: What if we give the player the ability to build stuff in the game?
Producer: Thats different enough. So how do we do the building in this Fork-knife game of yours?
Writer: Well, we add a building mechanic where players can gather materials and construct forts and other structures to defend themselves.

Writer: Exactly. One season, we had a massive meteor strike that changed the landscape. Another season, a giant iceberg crashed into the island, bringing new areas to explore. We also introduced a volcanic eruption that altered the terrain significantly.
Producer: Sounds like a lot of natural disasters.
Writer: Ye ye ye. But all these events tie into the overarching narrative. There's this powerful artifact called the Zero Point at the center of the island, and it's the source of all these changes.

Writer: It's a mysterious energy source that can manipulate time and space. Different factions and characters try to control it, leading to conflicts and alliances.

Writer: We've introduced various characters over time, like Jonesy, who starts as a standard avatar but becomes central to the story. He’s sort of the player’s guide and gets involved in all the major events.
Producer: And these characters, they have backstories?
Writer: Yes, each character has their own backstory and motives. Some are heroes trying to save the island, others are villains seeking power. We add new characters regularly to keep things fresh and engaging.
Producer: How do players learn about all this?
Writer: Through in-game events, cutscenes, and quests. For instance, we might have a live event where something dramatic happens, like a giant robot fighting a monster. These events often change the map and advance the storyline.
Producer: Live events? How do those work?
Writer: At specific times, we host live events where players can participate or just watch something big unfold. These events are usually massive, with millions of players logging in to witness them.

My four player group is looking for suggestions for a party name, as we've been playing for over a year and haven't come by one organically.
Party composition - male aasimar echo knight/cleric, female half-elven hexblade warlock, female gnome trickster cleric (moon goddess follower) and a male aasimar monk way of long death (previously played a female half eleven wild magic sorcerer)
Setting is Tal'dorei

I like Kira Kira a lot, but the villains were just one of the things I was not a fan of for the season. So I thought maybe trying to rewrite some of them so they better fit the narrative a little more theme-wise while still retaining some of the good things about them in their original incarnations:

- Kirakiraru Thieves- Instead of the random no name fairies in the mountain who all look like pekorin, I think the corrupted sweets fairies should've been the residents of the mountains. Then it would make more sense to rescue them. Just design softer, non-sharp looks for their purified fairy forms. They're already food themed so making them the sweets fairies of the mountain makes so much sense. Maybe their designated purpose was to increase the kirakirarun production in their respective snacks but corruption makes them suck it out instead.
- Julio- Honestly, keep Julio as is but instead of breaking his wand JUST after his revival, just make his powers more like a defensive waffle barrier so that he focuses on defending the populace while the Cures fight. Make his character like a paladin who protects the people's kirakirarun to make up for his past sins of stealing it.
- Bibury- I already like Bibury's personality and look, but her powers and story just feel a little lackluster. Maybe make it so that she's an orphan who was always hungry and she curses people who always ate meals together with their families. That's when she was "saved" by Noir and given a doll, which gave her the familial love she craved for while keeping her hate for sweets, which are a luxury to her. Transforming her cursed doll is already a unique aspect that I want to keep but maybe some of her powers is to make copies of Iru to spread magical rumors and maybe help her in battle by hindering the enemies movements. This power carries over when she defects to the Cures but the doll copies are now dressed in white and black and have her pigtails.
- Grave- Probably the weirdest one out of the bunch. He's not even dessert-themed or related but just a corrupt business creep who has a car and minions. I'd make it so that he used to work for a factory that makes sweets but is more concerned about the profits and kept cutting costs but making the sweets worse in quality. Eventually, this collapsed the business and he was ostracized from sweetmakers everywhere. Since then he kept bleeding money till he was poor and had to sell his car before Noir found him and offered him a position because of his greed. He can keep the car and the nendos which can represent his need for luxury and workers who will do everything he says, but give him more of a hate for sweets as the reason for his fall from grace and make him crush some sweets under his boots or spray car exhaust on them because he's petty.
- Diable- Another weird one. Its just a weird shadow ghost dog. No big story there. I think the fact that they're animal sweets is maybe played around with this fact but they never really touched much on it. Maybe its like... Its the collective hunger of the harsh animals in the forest given form? Either way, not a lot to be said about this one aside from polishing what they ARE. I did think it was cute they got reincarnated as a puppy tho.
- Noir- So Noir is the big bad who is also not a big bad? It's a very weird dynamic for sure and his motives don't make a lick of sense. I'd rewrite him as a tragic figure who has seen the horrors of war as he is already a soldier. Maybe after Lumiere rescued him, he attempted to help her comfort the people around the shop by assisting her and taking care of others. But his heart was filled with only hate and guilt and suffering and frustration from his battles and not being able to bake well (which parallels a bit with Pikario) that he only ruined the sweets and sucked the Kirakirarun out of them. He would see himself as a being who only took instead of giving like Lumiere does and the darkness inside of him would cloud his judgement. The inner darkness would keep collecting and corrupt his inner kirakirarun and no matter how much Lumiere would try to reach into his heart with her treats, his suffering and pain would only further absorb and corrupt the energy. So it would be like he's constantly hungry for the comfort of sweets but can never feel it because he allows his newfound selfishness and hopeless views of the world to win out, like a form of PTSD. Thus he would seek to suck kirakirarun from all the world in order to fill the emptiness in his soul.
- Elisio- I liked the idea that Elisio was like a dark part of Noir given form but the execution as a villain left a lot to be desired. He's looks like a pâtissier, but his powers are cards? And he also took a step back and just became "the villain who combines random objects together". Why not just have an evil whisk that mixes corrupted treat monsters? He is also born from like... a corrupted cupcake? I like the corrupted cupcake angle, but with the rewritten Noir, make it so that the dark energy within him accumulated so much that his heart had to vent out a bunch of it and it became Elisio. Elisio is like... a representation of his futility in redeeming himself, which is why he mixes up evil dessert monsters because they represent Noir's self-hate for destroying desserts instead of creating. Maybe the whisk can harden stolen kirakirarun much like how the girls can shape it like clay and he can make hard crystal weapons like a lance or a sword out of his corruption whisk. He can still absorb both Lumiere and Noir in the latter half as well, but he mixes them up into his whisk and consumes them like a dessert, but evilly. It seems his goal is a perfect utopia of emotionlessness, which I still like as an angle but maybe method is focused on absorbing all the Kirakirarun and corrupt it all in one go instead, using it to transform and create the perfect earth just like the girls did to form up the kirapati. This would also allow him to hide his plan from Noir while still pretending to comply with his wishes to fill his empty heart.

-I own several Sarees as formal wear—my favorite ensemble is ivory, fuschia and orange, with matching hat, shoes and handbag.
-I LOVE dubbed anime (sorry, but I am allergic to subtitles).
-I have practiced Kundalini Yoga for over ten years.
MAJOR ACHIEVEMENT—Over the last four years, my dress size and weight used to begin with a two—NOW, I AM A SIZE SIX and have maintained this since 8/2023. I love fashion! I'm purging my dressing room like crazy but have a talented tailor who perfects my investment pieces.
An interesting tidbit: I used to wear a size 10 shoe. Now I'm a 9-9 1/2. Less pressing into my shoes. I've had to donate/sell 90% of my collection.
