I look like a noob. I can't get my shop link to hyperlink. (spaces added just in case Reddit tries to interpret). I'd love to have it in my signature but I'd settle for the basic post at this point.

So I have two accounts- #1 (main) and #2 (side). For a long time, I have wanted to switch mains to #2. I even did so briefly many years ago, but I ended up going back to #1 because it has a couple of retired avatars that are A) really cool and B) feel about as representative of “Me” as a preset Neopets dot com avatar can lmao. I’d really miss being able to use them.
However, #1’s username makes me uncomfortable. No bad words or innuendos- just post-mortem name-related feelings, if I'm being honest. It's kind of ambiguous so I don’t necessarily mind having it as a side account, but the idea of participating with the community from account #1 gives me a lot of pause. I feel like I’m probably missing out because I’m so nervous about potentially being known as and referred to #1’s username... even with my actual name in my signature, on my profile, etc. ):
I don’t have that many trophies or stamps. I can re-upgrade my shop and gallery if needed. It might even be fun earning some of the obtainable avatars again- it’s really just the "loss" of the retired ones holding me back but... is it even worth it if I don’t post on the boards- or, more importantly, enter contests (the main reason I don't just use a side for communication- other than it being real annoying) because of username anxiety?? (Reading this back has me asking myself if I'm just asking permission to let go lol...)
I know some people have had their things transferred, but afaik it's mainly to newbie accounts? and like… I’ve just gotten into food club, which isn’t allowed on sides, and it’d be a shame to miss out on that when I already have this very old account with a name I actually do like. (It's actually phonetically similar to my new middle name irl.) So while I did send a ticket to Neopets about this, I’m trying not to get my hopes up- plus, I’m sure they’re pretty swamped rn haha.

Hey all! I’ve been considering picking up a secondary browser based game - I primarily play Neopets. The game looked a bit confusing when I watched some of PetSimmerJulie’s videos, so I figured I’d dive in here and ask a few questions! If you’ve never played Neo, feel free to just answer the q’s from a general POV.
1) How’s the community to new players on and off site? - Are there forums ala the Neoboards? What’s the primary communication between players on site (if any)
2) How active are players in comparison to Neopets?
3) From what I’ve gathered, this reminds me of those little “click the dragon egg to help me hatch it!” Signatures on forums of old, (lordee I just dated myself) with a dash of Pokémon breeding?
4) What’s the general age range of the playerbase? Most folks who play Neopets are 20-60ish.
5) Is there any guides y’all would suggest to play by for newbies starting out?

Now I'll admit I gave her a weird name: Draconic_Rapture. It's kind of an inside joke but TBF I don't see how it breaks the ToS. Any idea of what it could be?

TL;DR - Got access to a 7 year old account that has absolutely 0 progress, but a username that I am VERY attached to. Current main account is ~4 years old, has a crappy username, but has way more progress. Do I switch my main account?
Okay I'll try to make this brief. I recently regained access to my main account from 2019. I've had countless accounts over the years and this was my most recent one. The username is cottoncandyrandy, which is a little weird but it's a niche joke from a fandom I used to belong to.
I've recently started trying to log into other old accounts just to see if I had anything good on those accounts. No surprise, nothing good. I tried logging into an old account with the username "partybots," which as you can probably tell is my default internet username. I got in but saw that that account had been frozen for an inappropriate username. I sent in a ticket asking TNT to review it because I don't see anything wrong with the name, and within minutes I was regranted access to the account.
When I logged in I saw that the account must have been frozen within seconds of creating it. I hadn't even activated the account or made a pet yet. So here is the dilemma. My current main account obviously has WAY more progress, but I really love the idea of having a slightly older account and especially having an account with my signature internet username. I know I could always transfer my pets, items, and neopoints, but I'm worried about losing non-transferrable things such as my avatar collection (239), stamp collection (227, not super impressive but i'm working on it), and game trophies. I also just started a yearlong premium subscription on my current main account.

I don't know why it popped into my head, but I'm trying to remember the name of this old virtual pet forum I used to be on. It didn't really have mechanics or anything, you "adopted" a pet by basically just copying a picture's bbcode into your forum signature or page, then kind of played pretend with them. Very simple and old-school. Each species had several different colors to choose from. There was one or two species that you could buy customs of for real money and breed them, and a couple species that were special/exclusive, but other than that I don't think it was really a mechanics-heavy game.

Graphics/art style: Colorful, fantasy style creatures in clean lineart and cel shading, but not overly toony
Notable characters: I can't remember many species, but there was one that was doglike but had small goat horns, another was a horse called a Cavallion or something along that line. There was also a gryphon-esque pet, but it had its avian legs in the back rather than the front.
Notable gameplay mechanics: Not much, it was more a forum than an actual virtual-pet game like Neopets.
Other details: For some reason, the name Eidolon or Avalon comes to mind, but searching "eidolon pets website" doesn't bring up anything. The website itself could be down, I'm just trying to remember what it was called. I do know it wasn't Chicken Smoothie, at least.

I went through an amazing amount of trial and error having spent multiple days and many, many hours of research trying several different methods including running virtual machines of multiple older windows operating systems via Oracle's Virtualbox and testing a ton of different versions and downloads all in attempt to figure out how to get the game to run without that annoying black box or any serious glitches that impacted game play to the extent of affecting one's performance/score. It took me a long time and a lot of effort before I finally found this method. So I figured I would make it easier for any other folks who are wanting the avatar / trophy and spare them from spending all the time and enduring all the headache that I had to go through. So with that being said let's get to it and I hope y'all enjoy!
KEEP IN MIND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO KEEP ANY FILES OR APPLICATIONS, SO WILL WANT TO BACK THINGS UP TO AN EXTERNAL SOURCE BEFORE INSTALLING AND YOU WILL HAVE TO REINSTALL ANY OTHER APPLICATIONS YOU MAY USE.
1. Click on the link below to download Windows 10 operating system. 2. During installation when prompted to choose whether or not to keep any applications or files, unfortunately you will need to select the third option, keep nothing. I know this because I have tried the other two options and it will force you to install using the other two options and it automatically applies the update that blocks internet explorer and will not allow you to install / use it.
3. Type updates into the windows search bar and open check for updates, click on advanced options open the drop down menu underneath pause updates then scroll to the bottom and select the farthest future date.

9. After downloading shockwave (and flash player if necessary) restart your computer.

10. If you don't see a shortcut on your desktop for internet explorer, just type internet explorer into the windows search bar and it should appear. If it doesn't then type in control panel, click on programs then turn windows features on or off, scroll down until you see internet explorer 11 and check the box next to it and press okay, then try searching for it again in the windows search bar. Right click on internet explorer and select run as administrator.
11. Next go ahead and log into neopets using internet explorer. The login screen may look a little wonky, if you can't see where to type in your username & password at all then I have found that maximizing the window to full screen helps with that.
12. Next you are going to want to click on the little gear icon to the right of the web address bar and then click on compatibility settings and add neopets.com. Make sure that the first checkmark box labeled display intranet sites in compatibility view is selected and press okay.
13. Click on tools again (geacog icon in the top right corner of internet explorer), then select internet options. In the new window that opens, click the security tab. Down at the bottom uncheck the box located next to enable protected mode. You will receive a warning, disregard it and proceed anyway. It is recommended you go back and re-enable it when you are done playing.
14. Using the link below go to Hannah and the Pirate Caves and try to open the game. If it gives you the shockwave error try refreshing the page a few times and it usually loads eventually. If you are having issues where Hannah disappears either at the bottom or the sides of the game and you can't see her anymore then try pressing crtl and - or + to change the size of the game and you should be able to find a sweet spot where that is no longer an issue. You may have to refresh each time after adjusting the size in order for the game to be affected by the change and the glitch to be resolved . 15. I would recommend you keep another neopets tab open and periodically refresh it so that when you go to send your score, stackpath doesn't cause you any issues.
16. If at any point during gameplay you find that Hannah has frozen and will not move, simply use your mouse / trackpad to click anywhere on the game or if you have a touchscreen just tap it.
17. Other than that if you are having any issues and keep getting the shockwave error I would recommend just restarting your computer or going into task manager and force quitting Internet Explorer and reopening (be sure to always open as administrator) or going into the compatibility setting in internet explorer and removing / re-adding neopets.com or checking / unchecking the boxes, or re-enabling protected mode and disabling it again. Sometimes it is kind of finicky to get to load and can take some tinkering around with.
18. Also if you get logged out for some reason, make sure you remove neopets.com from the compatibility settings before trying to log back in or the login page won't show up correctly at all and you won't be able to log in.

So I noticed around 2016/2017 that all my accounts had been hacked and all my Neopets stolen, which was super sad because I put so much work into their pet pages! And also, the nostalgia.
A couple weeks ago I finally got about to trying to get my accounts back. So far no luck, but then while searching through all my art going back to 2003, I found an email I had linked all my accounts to before going to college. I decided to sign into that email just to see what's up and...lo...TWO OF MY ACCOUNTS WERE STILL ATTACHED TO IT! I was able to sign into both though one was frozen, but...I still have an account! I still have a DRAIK. This account must have been overlooked by thieves because it only had one draik. :'D
I'm still trying to appeal to get 3 of my other accounts back and gosh, my pets. I'm hoping that showing pictures of physical sketches I have that match BC contests I won and an art gallery submission I combed through hundreds of pages will help me.

The time I spent in Haven Springs put me in a shockingly good mood for a game revolving around a murder, and I welcomed the entire experience. Unfortunately, the tacked-on murder mystery drags down the story somewhat and keeps it from reaching the highest highs that it can. If you're a fan of the franchise, you're sure to like this latest entry.	PC
