There was always something odd about old cartoons. Whether that is the unhinged nature or the disturbing images. There is something memorable to them. Something that sealed themselves into our childhoods. I remember growing up watching Spongebob and The Fairly Oddparents along with Dexter’s Laboratory. However, there is one cartoon I remember dearly that nobody seems to remember.
Back in 1997 a cartoon that went by the name Smiletime aired on TV. It was made by this cartoon studio located in Pennsylvania that shut down only 4 years after Smiletime’s release. It was loved by viewers, me included. Everyone seemed to love the antic’s that the main crew got into each episode. The parents however found the main crew’s designs to be “unsettling”. The crew was composed of four characters. The go lucky Smiley. The wimpy Crybaby. The always upset Grumpy. And then the shocked Spooky. They all looked the same, wearing overalls and a mask. The only difference was the expression on the mask and the color of their outfit. They were all voiced by male voice actors except for Spooky who was voiced by a female.
Now that I have grown up, I can see why parents hated the designs. Those soulless black eyes and mouths gave off some disturbing feeling.
Funny enough, the show got canceled in 2001 when the studio that made it shutdown. It is a shame since it was reaching millions of viewers per episode. That company had to make millions off the merch sales alone.
Recordings of the show are incredibly rare and valuable. I think I saw one going for $3,000 a while ago. I loved that show back when I was little, but I didn’t love it that much.
I might look more into this show. Maybe it might be the next big piece of lost media. I’ll add updates if I do.

Genre: I believe it was some sort of language educational game because we would sometimes play it on the English class to learn English.
Estimated year of release: I guess it can be anywhere from the 90s to the early 2000s.
Graphics/art style: I could not describe it in words, but I put an image so that you can take a look at the reference of what it looked like. The picture is not of the actual game, but it looked with that same graphic style.
Notable characters: I remember there was a guy that had a face shaped like Jimmy Neutron and showed a lot of teeth. There was another character that had a huge belly but actually super long skinny legs which he could contract like it was an accordion, I think this one might have had a mustache.
Notable gameplay mechanics: The game pretty much showed you different scenes from different characters (in their houses or on the street or in different rooms) and you had to interact with them or help them in order to move to the next stage. Everything was on 3D, but it was more like a cinematic gameplay. Where I think you were not exactly present like an individual, but you had to click on things and solve puzzles in order to progress the story. When you finished a stage, you would go to the next one. But everything in the story was correlated. You just kind of progressed through it.

~ General Recommendations (All Consoles) For Anyone Who Can't Decide ~
First off, I won't recommend big or famous games like Final Fantasy or Persona, this is more for lesser know, hidden gems, or just games where it's hard to find someone talking about them.
[Valkyria Chronicles]
[Valkyria Chronicles 4]
This one is really hard to explain through words alone, but just in case, the VC series is a World War 2 military setting story, where you act as the lead of a squad and take mission to drive back the enemy. The story is drama heavy and the gameplay is tactical turn-based, but it's mixed with real-time third person shooter.You can also make your own army by recruiting different types of solders, training them and upgrading their gear. From rifles to tanks, this is a game you have to experience to understand.
[Fuga: Melodies of Steel 1 & 2]
Great game, great art style, and really well made and balanced turn-based combat. That alone is enough to get the game. Then you add the time-management part of the game, where you spend time upgrading the different tank rooms, cooking, exploring ruins, spending time to bond with other characters, and so on. It's also great if you want a game that you can play for an hour or 2 and then put down for later. As the game is played through stages, and once you're done with a stage, you get an intermission to do what you want and come back to it later.It's not a long game (compared to the usual JRPG), as you mentioned, it's about 20 hours. Story-wise I think it was a bit too short. Gameplay wise it was great fit, because it didn't outstay it's welcome, and it ends when you feel you have mastered the gameplay and want to face the final challenge.
The story is good, but isn't the focus. Gameplay is the main focus. In fact you'll feel that a lot of context isn't told in the story, but instead left for you to either read about in the in-game wiki or just figure out through obvious clues in the story.
There is a big mechanic that this meant to put a lot of pressure on your playthrough (don't worry about it being spoiled because it's literally explained in the first hour of the game). The thing is though, if you have experience in JRPGs or just play in a really well thought out and relaxed manner, then that mechanic might not be as big a deal as they make it seem to be. Yet it's still fun nonetheless.
Fuga 2 is even better. It fixes a lot of the minor issues the first game had, and what's really great, is it improved the "big pressure" mechanic I talked about, and now it actually is a big deal. Then add to that so much little new mechanics added that just makes for a much more fun and challenging game. The 2nd game also continues the same story.
[Ni no Kuni] Series
If you're looking for that great Isekai fantasy adventure feel, then these two games are where it's at. Fantastic visuals and great music, coupled with a great art style, a combo that is perfect for a chill and relaxed gaming experience. Especially when talking about the first game, with the help ofStudio Ghibli, they managed to make a truly whimsical world with that Studio Ghibli classic touch.- Important Note: The games aren't connected story-wise, so you can start with any of them -
[Wrath of the White Witch]
For a the best fantasy adventure feel, while the combat is a hit or miss depending on your taste, don't let that stop you from actually diving into a true fairy tale world, this is the one with the better story in my opinion, so if you want more story than game, this is for you. Still it has a good share of gameplay, from raising and collecting Pokemon-like monsters, to learning and using different spells, not just in combat but for the overworld too.[Ni no Kuni™ II: Revenant Kingdom]
This one focuses more on gameplay, with a Kingdom builder, Army battles, Heavy loot focus, and even character collector, this is the one to go with if you want more game than story. Still has the great music and he fantastical art style and setting. Add to that a lot of side activities like beating rare monsters, collecting cute creatures to help you in battle, and even going around the world to gather people to help you build your kingdom. You'll never be short on things to do.Finally, both of them have beautifully draw world that is just a pleasure to walkthrough, made even better with the amazing orchestral soundtrack.
[Star Ocean The Second Story R]
The original PS1 game was already an amazing JRPG and a classic. But this remake takes it to go even further beyond SSJ3. It should be the standard on how to make a faithful remake on of a classic title.I don't want to overhype it more than I already did. So to keep this short, this remake does so much:
- All major story events are now fully voice acted. This includes a lot of the private actions too.
- Fully redone and better translation of the game.
- New Character to recruit to the party.
- New Private Actions and 13 new Endings.
- New character portraits, not just for the main cast, but also for many other characters.
- A complete rework for the battle system to be up to modern standards.
- So many QoL features:
- Auto-saving
- Fast-forward cut-scenes or skip them.
- Text log
- All difficulties can be accessed from the start
- Fast travel
- 3 different voice dubbing options to choose from (New English, Original Japanese, New Japanese)
- Your choice of different art styles
- Choose between original OST and new rearranged OST.
- No random battles anymore, as enemies can be seen and avoided
[Sword and Fairy 7: Together Forever]
They did a great job with the presentation of the game. Great voice acting (Chinese), great graphics, amazing music, and an impressive attention to details of the world and it's lore, especially the engineering of the buildings and their decor. Then you have the really beautiful design of each piece of gear, and even just normal attire of each NPC and the disciples of each sect or soldiers of each of the different of each plane (gods, humans, demons).Then we go to how great looking the monsters and local flora and fauna of each realm. You can feel the intense work that has gone into making and animating each of them. It really is a joy to watch them, as much as it is to watch each environment you see them in. There really isn't enough time to talk about how good the presentation is.
As for the story. First off, I am not an expert in Chinese novels mythology, but I am a big fan of Xianxia and Wuxia novels. So when I say that the story is...good but nothing great, I am saying this as more than just a JRPG fan, but also someone who is very into this type of world and Chinese martial arts fantasy setting. it's nothing that will stick in your mind, apart from the events that take place in some of the beautiful set pieces in the game, or the cut-scenes with beautiful action cheoragphy.
The gameplay is also about average. The side-quests are fun and are worth doing if nothing more than for learning more about the lore and the world. But the actual battles and action gameplay isn't as good as the best ones out there, but it's not bad. I have ran into some bugs, some small, some big, but that was when the game just came out, and it did receive a lot of patches since then. You can tell that they aimed to make a huge triple A production, but didn't have the time or manpower to test a game of this size. It's still fun to play and experience, but the level of gameplay is nowhere near the level of the presentation that the game gives the impression of having just from watching the gameplay or trailers.
If you enjoy walking through magical and fantastic looking JRPG worlds, or if you enjoy Xianxia/Wuxia fiction, then this is an easy choice. Hell even if you don't, it's still worth a go at this price.
[Blue Dragon] & [Lost Odyssey]
These two are classic titles that will probably won't be ported to or remade to modern consoles. That's why this might be the last way you'll ever get to experience 2 classic titles of the genre. Lost Odyssey has great story writing and unique character settings, and Blue Dragon has great exploration and a really fun character class customization system, and one hell of a boss theme.[Monster Sanctuary]
This is a solid game, everything in is polished and balanced to make sure you are having fun collecting new monsters and customizing your team through evolution/skill trees/gear and making the best in-sync party you can. I only wish it was longer, it's not short by any means, but it's not long either. I would say depending on if you're trying to "catch them all" and explore everything and fight all bosses, this could easily be a 30+ hours game, but if you focus on the story, then it's about 20 to 30 hours. Now even longer with the 2 new free DLC expansion added.Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining that it's short, but that I was having so much fun, that I wish it didn't end.

Fatal Fury series consisted of numerous games that were released throughout the 90’s when the fighting genre of gaming was still very popular. Despite, not reaching the same level of popularity as Capcom’s Street Fighter II series SNK’s Fatal Fury franchise had a strong enough fanbase to get its own movie back in 1994. Its hard to believe that Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture came out three decades ago but then again the animation and character art says otherwise. Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture was a film that lasted roughly over an hour and thirty minutes and focused on some of the main characters within the franchises. The plot for the Fatal Fury movie focused on Terry Bogard, Andy Bogard and Mai Shiranui who attempts to prevent the main villain Laocorn Gaudeamus from collecting the six shards of the Armor of Mars. The Bogard Brothers along with Shiranui and Sulia the sister of Laocorn attempt to do everything possible to stop him from gaining incredible power. The Fatal Fury: Motion Picture was one that had a decent story, good voice actors and it was fast paced because the movie did not drag at all. It was a bit strange to have a non video game character like Laocorn Gaudeamus as they main villain and makes you wonder if the Fatal Fury movie from ’94 was canon or not. While other villainous characters like Geese Howard and Laurence Blood were present in the Fatal Fury movie it was a bit surprising that neither one of them were the main antagonist. The Fatal Fury: Motion Picture is one that most likely got over shadowed during the mid 90’s especially considering the fact that ’94 was a big year for movie releases. Along with the Fatal Fury: Motion Picture we got to see the releases of the Street Fighter II: Animated series along with the live-action Street Fighter film starring Jean-Claude Van Damme. It should also be noted that Samurai Shodown received its own film adaptation back in ’94 and the video game series was starting to become popular in arcade centers during the mid 90’s. While the Fatal Fury: Motion Picture solid the series itself began to decline in popularity towards the end of the 90’s decade due to more competition within the fighting genre of gaming. It should also be noted that ’94 was the year where the King of Fighters series began. By 1994, SNK had decided to take key characters from the Fatal Fury and Art of Fighting series to create a brand new fighting series which is still going on today. Even though, the Fatal Fury series has been dead for more than two decades it seems like SNK is finally ready to release a brand new installment within the in early 2025. Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves will most likely bring back lapsed fans of the series along with those who still love the KOF series after all of these years. A question for those of you that own this pin but don't really care for the band. How much of an issue is this? The music doesn't impact me on location, but most arcades are noisy enough that I'm probably not really even hearing much of it. Playing at home I expect I would hear a lot more.

Like right now, I'm taking Fanapt, Fluoxetine, and Strattera. I also recently talked to my psychiatrist about whatever mental health issues I developed, and he increased my Fanapt and Strattera doses to eight milligrams per morning, and eighteen milligrams per afternoon, respectively. And as a result, I'm like what that smoke monster described Michael in that animated drug PSA: All my cares went poof, no worries, no bothers.
Which all goes back to Cartoon All-Stars to the Rescue, and how destructive it was to kids' mental health, in-terms of warning them about the dangers of illegal drugs. Not to mention, the inefficiency of the War on Drugs, itself, at the time CASttR released. Like people were turning to illegal drugs, probably because they couldn't have access to psychiatrists, because psychiatry and mental health were not as well understood back then as they are now. And yet all of these Republican administrations at the time, like Bush Senior's, as one example, thought that mass incarceration for illegal drug possession will instantaneously prevent future possessions.
Which is why I'm grateful for my own psychiatrist, right now. Because anyone suffering from mental illnesses or addiction could hopefully save up enough money to turn to psychiatrists for treatments of them, alongside psychotherapists. And not have to fear mass incarceration for illegal drug possession.
Which makes CASttR that much more tone deaf, because it literally co-opted all of these iconic cartoon characters for some political grandstanding. And not really to protect kids from illegal drugs like Bush Senior at the time deceived us into thinking, back then. I'm 100% confident that having a weak chin/jaw is the most unattractive trait on a person. I would go as far as to say that it's worse than being short/balding. It automatically makes you look feeble, juvenile, repulsive. In almost every cartoon/anime a bad, greedy person is portrayed with a weak chin, while the main charactehero has a sharp jawline.
It doesn't matter if you're tall, have low body fat, muscular, you name it, if you have a receeding jaw you are automatically ugly and undesirable.
The worst part is, I wasn't even born with a weak chin. No one in my family is recessed, and I used to have a normal jaw back in primary school. I became recessed because I mouth-breathed and had a terrible posture. I wish, I fucking wish I could go back in time and change that habit, because it has absolutely butchered my appearance. Every time I look in the mirror I wanna rope. There isn't a day in my life where I don't think how unattractive my weak chin makes me look like and how different my life (dating success too) would be if I had a normal jaw. I can't stop thinking about it.

I was reading an article today about James Gunn's new design for Superman's iconic outfit and how they think that he shouldn't be reinventing his outfit so much. Although they said the new design wasn't terrible, it also wasn't anything outstanding to look at. So this got me thinking on how they could possible redesign his outfit, while still keeping the same color scheme and his iconic S symbol on his chest, while also changing it up some and keeping it new. I tried Googling this and nothing came up and I'm no Superman lore expert, so please tell me if this goes against everything for his character. Basically my idea for Superman's outfit shouldn't be an outfit at all. Instead of him using his superspeed to change into his iconic blue and red outfit, he now has the power of changing his skin color to the blue and red colors and then regarding his iconic S shape, he now has this ingrained into his chest anatomy, maybe the chest bones are kind of S shaped, but turn a golden yellow color once the rest of his skin changes color to highlight this area. Regarding his cape, I'd assume it just sort of grows out of his shoulders or appears sort of like he's manifesting it onto himself. And then of course the whole gential area comes into question, obviously he can't be slinging D like Dr Manhattan, so I'd just assume he sort of goes full Ken mode and it's just not there, unless you really wanna go R rated then by all means turn that area into the mighty Red Son. So yeah, that's my idea for a redesign of his outfit. The closest character that I could think of that was like this was again Dr Manhattan, but I couldn't find any pictures of Superman with blue and red skin and no outfit, and I'm not a great artist to draw this up, so I apologize. But I was just curious if this sounds like a good idea for a costume redesign or if it's just a silly thought.

I recently lead my first writer's room as a head writer! I've been working on a personal project for a while and when we finally got backed and financed, it was crazy! I don't have enough experience to be a showrunner, so we hired someone else. However, being in a writer's room and not just a PA was mind blowing. It kinda felt like knowing how to swim, but now it's my first time in the deep end. I'm sure there are more experienced people on this subreddit with better advice, but I just want to talk about what I learned.
Context: Even though I can't say which show it is right now, I can say that it is for cable and is a 13 episode, half-hour drama. Including myself, there were seven writers.

1: Don't be afraid to redo the pilot!
- They say "writing is rewriting" and this couldn't have been more true for me. Once we actually sat down and talked about what we wanted the season to look like, the pilot had to be rewritten. The pilot I wrote had won a screenwriting competition and has got many glowing reviews. However, I'd be lying if I said I put as much thought into the other episodes as I did the pilot, simply because I didn't want to waste all that effort on a show that might not even get made.
2: Confidence, confidence, confidence!
- This wasn't my first pilot that has been picked up, but it was the first that had actually been put into pre-production instead of just being optioned again or being bought to collect dust in development hell. I was the least experienced in the room and it really made me nervous. People who had some serious skill were asking me questions about my story that I genuinely never thought about before. After our first session, I honestly thought I shouldn't even be in there.
3: Lean on everyone's specialty.
- I always knew writers had preferences in genres and writing pillars like dialogue or structure. What I didn't expect was how rewarding it would be to have someone prop up your weaknesses with their skills. I usually write alone, so having people help fill in for my weaknesses was great! Leaning into what everyone else does best kept things going at a good pace.
4: Try new stuff till it sticks.
- I had ideas for the show that flat out did not work. Looking at the overall season, some of the episodes we wanted to do, didn't actually add up to the type of emotional pay offs we wanted. Out of the 13, only 5 (including the pilot) of my original episode ideas actually stayed. We came up with a bunch of stuff that was great, but didn't really fit. In the end, some of our random ideas worked better than ones were were sure of.
5: Communication
- When we were ready to start typing, there were some people who wanted to write certain episodes and others who didn't care which. However, we found out that everyone has an episode they really want to do and some people just didn't speak up about it. My showrunner talked with everyone together and individually to make sure people were not only writing for the show, but writing something they really wanted to sink their teeth into.
6: Be friends
- Yeah, you can't be friends with everyone. It's true. Even so, our writer's room really felt like it kicked into high gear as we all got to know each other. We talked about what inspires us, what we do outside of writing and how our lives were going in general. It made it feel less like a job and more like the discussion you would have with your friends at a bar after seeing a movie. Awesome feeling. We even attended one of my writer's birthday party were he proposed to his long time girlfriend. After that, writing felt like butter. It's way easier to debate and fix things with people you get along with. I can't imaging being in a room with someone for that long for months with people I don't like or don't know well.
7: Check the ego at the door
- This is something my producer told me and something my showrunner said up front. We all are going to be wrong sometimes. If something needs defending, defend it, but not to the point to where it may cause a problem. Honestly, I couldn't have written this season this well on my own. Teamwork made the dream work.

Even though clues may be present for properties like Looney Tunes, Popeye, and Scooby-Doo, I personally consider it to be unlikely to come to any informed speculation regarding shows that air on Boomerang daily. There are some exceptions,, but for right now I am only focusing in on the shows specifically coming to Boomerang for the event.
Shows #1-2: Taz-Mania and Duck Dodgers
- These shows are part of Boomerang's regular rotation... BUT they air rather infrequently. To specifically air them on MVS Day makes sense for Taz, but Duck Dodgers is one I want to call MAJOR attention to. I don't want to jump the gun but this may be soft confirmation of Daffy. Taz could maybe get something?
- Daphne is a MAJOR player in this one.
- I honestly don't think we can point out specific characters in this one- probably just a convenient crossover. Maybe Scooby will have a skin from this film?
- Anything Titans is an immediate flag, as no members of the team are currently in the game. My bets are on Raven, since she's been heavily rumored for quite a while. Plus we already have Tara Strong as Harley and (presumably) now Bubbles.
- However: this is also the closest thing to a Batman show currently airing on CN. If they took the brand synergy route, this might just be a stand-in for DC itself. I'd even see TTG being used as the base for any and all Warner Bros crossovers, so I'm not taking it super seriously atm.
- "Warner Bros. 100th Anniversary" (S8E24) is apt for this game, as it features the Titans meeting several WB icons from TONS of different Hanna-Barbera, Cartoon Network, and WB Animation properties, plus The Wizard of Oz, Elf, and Gremlins.
- "The Cruel Giggling Ghoul" (S3E23) is pretty easy. It's a Scooby-Doo parody starring the Teen Titans, featuring LeBron.
- "TV Knight" (S4E5) is the first in a long-running subplot where we tune into the Titans' television to see what's on. I honestly think this is being aired in reference to Rick and Morty's similar bit, "Interdimensional Cable," but it's worth mentioning that Batman watching TV is the framing device, plus Robin's segment specifically revolves around his relationship with Batman.
- Another point in favor of Raven: Trigon makes an appearance. Cyborg, Beast Boy, and Starfire also have their own segments, but only Raven's has to do with her actual lore.
- "Jam" (S7E23) is intriguing to me. Not only is it the first time Harley appears as a speaking role in the show, but Poison Ivy and Catwoman are with her. Ivy is another one of those heavily rumored characters, and Catwoman makes a lot of sense for a slot. Additionally, their plot revolves around recruiting Raven and Starfire. I could see any/all of this being relevant info.
- "DC" (S7E24) is, much like the first two, an easy target. The Titans get invited to DC HQ to celebrate Wonder Woman's birthday, it's filled with DC cameos, and off-topic but it ends with a giant robot battle between DC Comics and Marvel Comics which is super fun.
- "Jake the Dog" (S5E2) heavily features Farmworld Finn. We could see him showing up as a skin, we could see a Farmworld map, I could even link this episode to the fact that a grown-up Farmworld Finn later appears in Fionna and Cake. Lots to go off of here, but definitely the least specific of the four.
- "Simon and Marcy" (S5E14) is a FASCINATING one. Marceline has been heavily rumored for quite a long time, is one of the most requested characters for the game, and this episode is her origin story. ADDITIONALLY, because this game focuses heavily on duos, I could easily see Ice King showing up as well- after all, this episode and "I Remember You" are the finale of his origin story as well.
- A possible deviation would be for the post-Mushroom War wasteland to become a stage? Maybe both?
- "Escape from the Citadel" (S6E2) is the episode where Finn loses his arm. If the NHL promos were any indication, Finn should reflect this change in-game, or at least have it as a skin.
- "The Hall of Egress" (S7E24) has a very specific Finn look that might make sense as a skin.
- I very honestly think the following episodes are all supposed to focus in on Garnet's arc: the mystery of her character, her reveal as a Fusion, the horrific experimentation of Fusion by the Kindergarten, and Garnet's origin story. However, I will still break them down here.
- Another easy choice, "Garnet's Universe" (S1E33) is simply an episode where Steven recounts a made-up narrative where he tries to guess what Garnet does with her day. Steven and Garnet, easy.
- "Jail Break" (S1E52) holds significance as the first episode in the "StevenBomb" trend, where episodes would drop daily over the course of one week. This was a rather notorious strategy back in the day. HOWEVER, there's quite a bit more:
- This is another big episode for Garnet, featuring her song "Stronger Than You" as well as her two halves, Ruby and Sapphire.
- Lapis, Peridot, and Jasper are also here- this is actually the episode where Lapis betrays Jasper while in their combined Malachite form, as well as the episode where Peridot makes her way to Earth via escape pod.
- Another big candidate for inclusion: the final shot of this episode is an incoming call from Connie.
- "Keeping It Together" (S2E8) is ANOTHER big episode for Garnet, specifically centered on the practice of Gem Fusion, but ALSO takes place in the Kindergarten, which is Amethyst's origin.
- Another argument for Peridot, as this episode revolves around the gems searching for her in the Kindergarten.
- "The Answer" (S2E22) is ANOTHER GARNET EPISODE but some minor notes:
- This is a direct follow-up to the events of "Jail Break"
- The Cloud Arena makes an appearance
- As this is a flashback, the only Gems present on the team prior to Garnet are Pearl and Rose. Might as well mention them? But they haven't been a huge part of these episodes thus far.

I've had a problem with the character limit for a long time. With the extra 5 we were given in 10.2.7 (https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/remix-mists-of-pandaria-additional-character-slots/1827464/25) I contacted support, and was given several responses none of which actually addressed my question, and the last one has made me come here to ask since the support ticket isn't helping. I turn to reddit for help, seeing as Blizzard is adamant I have 64 characters, despite only 63 showing and still not being able to make a 65th.
