TL/DR; I got into some legal trouble, part of the fallout was my abusive ex calling the city and reporting that my animals were neglected and they couldn’t prove it in court but I pled to a lesser charge to be done with it. Since then, they have been itching to find me in violation of my probation and ultimately got me for having one more dog than the city allows. I have had four dogs as long as I’ve lived here and I now have to go to court and explain why I was violating my probation. The initial charges were issued based off a picture submitted by someone who didn’t have authorization to be on my property and the second time evidence was obtained after the officer climbed up on my fence and looked into my yard, without a warrant or my permission and then he threatened to seize my animals if I didn’t comply with his demands.
I went to jail on NYE and was in there for three days (weekend/holiday) for a petty crime. My 4 dogs and 2 others that I was watching for a friend were at my house. My best friend cared for them (very well might I add) while I was in jail. Animal control was contacted by my ex claiming the dogs were left alone, mistreated, and that I was boarding animals at my home. I returned home from jail and animal control was waiting for me at my house. He’s new, still has the creases in his uniform, stands about two feet shorter than me and takes his job very seriously. You know the type. Regardless of Paul Blart’s larger than life personality, I remained professional throughout all of our interactions. He wrote me a citation for animal cruelty for leaving my dogs regardless of the fact they were cared for, unauthorized use of a residence (because I accepted money from my friends to watch their dogs), not picking poop within 48 hours, hard to do when in jail, and number of dogs on premises (the city allows 3 dogs max, I have lived here for 8 years unaware of this and I moved here with the same 4 dogs I have now and that’s not changing). Prosecutor in my tiny town of like 30,000 people recommended 11 days of jail (no, I’m not joking). I pled to number of dogs on premise and the boarding charge in exchange for 1 year unsupervised probation as the judge didn’t exactly see eye to eye with the prosecutor. To my knowledge, animal control has been aware that I’ve had four dogs and I have certainly not given them any reason to believe I have less than four dogs. That I can assert without a shred of doubt.
A month after we reached an agreement, I received a letter in the mail from the same officer, stating that on 4/8 they received a complaint that my dogs were barking in excess. He edited the standard message to include that this would be my only warning and that the next one would be a summons, which would violate my probation. He made note of the complaint which was received via our cities “app” where anyone can report anything and they may do so without any ounce of personal information tied to it. What struck me as odd was that the “complaint” came in on 4/8, however the letter and the report were filed on 4/7. What’s even stranger, is that I was camping 3 hours away with all four of my dogs for a week and didn’t return home until 4/11. I can’t help but to feel like that was anything other than a targeted attempt to punish me.
A week after that, animal control is in my alley looking over my fence into my yard. Harassing my dogs who were now barking aggressively (as they have every right to do might I add, I don’t care if the FBI or the Pope are peering over my fence, unless you have my permission to do so my dogs can do whatever the hell they want). A few minutes later there’s a knock at my door, he tells me that I’m in violation of the ordinance regarding the number of animals I have on premise. I told him that * ”I do not wish to speak to you anymore because every time I have been honest with you— I have only ever been honest with him— it was under the pretense that you were “concerned” with my animals and you used that concern against me” * His supervisor, who is a literal Paul Blart on steroids told me that I would either do whatever the officer said or they would “seize whichever dogs they wished to at their discretion and I could go to court to get them back but that likely wouldn’t end in my favor”— that’s a direct quote. He then asked me to bring my dogs out one at a time for him to “inspect”, all of whom were healthy and in great shape as they’ve always been (which we both agreed on). He then issued me a summons. A day later I received a letter in the mail from the court stating I was in violation of my probation and that I needed to appear at a different date to explain to the judge why I was violating my probation.
Can animal control look over my fence? Am I not to expect a certain level of privacy in my own home? What if I had been back there sunbathing in the nude and does it make a difference if I was or not?
They didn’t have a warrant but they threatened to take my dogs away if I didn’t comply. That just feels fucked up to me, pardon my French.
What’s my angle in court? I cannot afford an attorney and the public defender they appointed me last time is a sleaze so that’s a no go.

I’m a 25 year old man. I was brutally bullied in high school and called a slave n***** boy any time I came across the dude who found joy in my suffering. He has given me black eyes which I had to go to the hospital to get checked, lifted me in the air while I was dizzy and slammed me on my stomach, body slammed me, put me in submissive head locks, spread rumours about me, called me the n word like it was nothing, and done a lot of other shady things behind close doors that I don’t know even since he had his group of friends supporting him.
He had my number back in high school and I have been receiving the same messages looking for the same "Karl" and "Kyle" every single month from 2016-2019. It was in 2019 where I received an apology from him (his 5th apology) about what he did to me in high school and said he already knows I hate my guts but wishes me the best. The messages stopped (but I changed my number the same year and deleted all my social media accounts). The bullies name Is Liam.
He has caused a lot of internal issues I still face every day of my life but now I realize he was still harassing me after high school because he didn’t have the chance to lay hands on me again because we never saw each other after grad.
I decided to check on Liam’s socials just to see and he’s deleted his instagram where he use to post pics of vacations with his girlfriend, videos of him shoulder pressing 90 lbs dumbbells on each arm and other ego filtered content. He only has Facebook and runs a business with a guy who he grew up with. This Liam kid graduated with marketing in 2023.
What do I do? For reference, I never received support throughout the bullying, I was isolated and further mocked. One of the reasons I have no friends

Im pissed off, and very hurt right now. My guy friend, whom I care very much about, has shut me out and pushed me away for a second time. While I wasn’t perfect, I did my best to be there for him. To be kind to him, and eventually we naturally fell into a thing for a few months.
The part that really fucking hurts is I never pushed for a relationship. I’m able to like someone, and not do anything about it. He however, kept having to justify why he didn’t want a relationship to me. And it hurt, each time. Especially because I didn’t do anything
I don’t get why he did this, and why he kept pushing me away, when I only ever tried to be his friend.

Hi, I've been a bear builder since 2001 since I've received a Chococat Build-A-Bear during 2011 in July when I was still nine at the time.
His name is Coco and he is one of my Build-A-Bear's affiliated with Sanrio besides a snow owl bear I've gotten a year prior that back then I usually don't purchase any clothes due to the price range steeping pretty high especially if your bear is through a specific brand collab.
I just have one shelf in my room, a white five story shelf, mostly a standard bookshelf that I've been organizing my books by genre but as for Coco, well he's at the top of course but he's next to an incomplete line of books.
I'm hesitant about buying more than one since Kuromi and My Melody have been released by the company and they have been on my radar for a bit mainly due to my connection with my best friend whom despite being my polar opposite, we still make it work but having each other although I am aware of the pricing of Build-A-Bear plushes if you buy one from the Sanrio collection ($36 each btw)
Besides that, I'm unemployed and whatever is on my card that's it and I'm trying to manage my money wisely like buying what I need out of differentiating my wants from my needs and that's a financial lesson I still have to go by.

Even in college, they're quite chill, they have a lot of friends, girlfriends and I don't think they'll personally ever feel lonely.

Hi!! So a little background story, I sadly didn’t get to go to my prom and my cousin knew I was sad about not being able to go so she asked me if I’d want to come to hers. prom is literally 2 weeks away and ofc we’re both gonna go despite there being no actual promposal but I wanted to do one cause I think it’s secretly really important to her (She’s mentioned it throughout the years). About relationships, I've never been in a serious one. She's been in several. This is the first time she's ever actually loved someone she said.
I found out she was insanely sexual with her ex. Like, several times a day. I'm nervous to even do it once, and it's been months. She says she doesn't care and it's not that important but if it isn't why was it so important previously?
Now onto the other stuff. We don't really have anything in common. She only watches horror, I think the genre sucks ass. The only thing is dumb comedies with Adam Sandler and Seth Rogan and that's it. The only thing we like in common basically. She got bored when we tried to watch Star Wars, doesn't like any of the things I do like games or ANYTHING. I don't even know what we talk about. Basically nothing. I just try my hardest to be "entertaining" and we goof around and spend the rest of the time cuddling and stuff. I don't see us doing dumb fun stuff I would love to do, hanging out and doing stupid shit and talking about stuff like that. I know this all sounds very juvenile lol but having similar interests is important and I'm now realizing that.
She hates talking about her problems. She has eating issues and refuses to eat and I constantly stress about it. She just won't. I try to get her to and she won't. tl;dr: my girlfriend and I have nothing in common, her friends suck, we have different life goals, get into conflicts a lot recently, and now I need to make a decision before it's too late because we both graduated

I (F23) have been dating my boyfriend (M25) for close to 3 years. I want to preface all this by saying that except the following problem, I truly love this man and he treats me well in every other aspect of our relationship. He’s empathetic, caring, and I do feel he loves me.
We moved in together a little under the 1 year mark. When we first moved in together, it was into my apartment, so he was always very careful and considerate about leaving things dirty or slacking on house chores, even though he was paying rent. I think he considered it “my space” so was cautious about letting himself go. A year and a half into our relationship, we moved into a house. I was very excited about this as it felt like we were starting to build something together. However, one of his childhood best friends (and previous roommate), let’s call him “Adam” was going through some apartment issues at the time and had to either find a place to stay ASAP or leave the state we were in. My boyfriend initially was against taking him in as he said Adam was irresponsible and erratic, but knowing he was his best friend I encouraged my boyfriend to let him stay with us for a few months, especially considering Adam was going through a rough breakup and other tumultuous life events. Well, that was a horrible decision. The next year Adam stayed with us till the lease was up. That house turned into me being the housekeeper because instead of my boyfriend having a good influence on Adam, it was the other way around. My every morning consisted of me picking up beer bottles and wiping down counters, clearing out the fridge of rotting fast food, etc. Now I will say to my boyfriends defense, 3 months into the new house I quit a very toxic job (which he had been encouraging me to for years) and struggled to find a equally paying job till the day we moved out. This meant that my boyfriend had to work 80 hour weeks to pick up my financial slack. Therefore, at that time, I didn’t mind doing the house chores because I understood I had more time and less stress on my hands than he did, and that was my way of showing appreciation.
Move on to now, my boyfriend and I moved into an apartment of our own. I got a job where I contribute equally to our finances, if not more so, but I still find myself doing 90% of the housework. And I say 90% because the 10% he does do only came after me being upset multiple times that I’m so overwhelmed having all the house work on my shoulders while also working a 60 hour job. It was one thing when I was working 30 hours, but to hold down a full time + job and still feel like I am the only one expected to do housework is exhausting. I’ve tried to express this to him, but it feels like he only does things for a few days and then “forgets”. Literally all I am asking him to do is not leave clothes on the floor, put them in the hamper, and I’ll do the laundry. Don’t leave dirty dishes lying around, put them in the dishwasher or sink and I’ll take care of them when I get home. If you’ve been working from home all day and I haven’t, ATLEAST make the bed.
I am the type of person who gets home after work and can’t relax until the house is clean, so all I ask is he makes that process easier for me by having me skip steps like collecting dirty dishes or clothes.
The reason this is turning to a head today is because: after weeks of expressing how neglected I feel when he doesn’t pick up after himself, knowing how stressed it makes me feel, the following happened:
He decided on a whim to buzz his hair at 10:00pm. I had work the next morning at 6AM. He asked me to help him buzz his hair and I said yes, but PLEASE, PLEASE clean the bathroom before you go to bed because hair gets everyyywhere. He said he will and don’t worry.
Next day I come home from working 7:30am - 7PM, and he has been home from work since 3pm. I arrive to dishes in the sink, bed is unmade. Whatever, I clean everything up and my only console in to take a long hot shower. I walk in the bathroom and there is hair everywhere. On the sink, the floor, the toilet, the towels. Imagine getting a haircut in a tiny bathroom and imagine the mess. So, I spent another hour cleaning it, because no way I’m taking a shower in that. He notices I’m cleaning it, sheepishly takes out the garbage (as though that makes up for it?) and never apologizes or mentions it all.
Am I crazy and being unfair? Is this reason to break off a relationship that is otherwise very happy? Someone please give me direction because I love this man, and I don’t know what to work through and what is a dealbreaker.

Before I get started I wanted to say there was no cheating or emotional manipulation (I hope?) involved. I'm relatively new to dating casually as I had always imagined marrying the person I was dating and thought it would take 1, maybe 2 tries max. Also, we never had sex, but we did kiss so I'm bringing this up for my question later.
At one point we had a group outing involving me, Jen, Lisa, and another friend. This created a friend group that I still occasionally hang out with and have done fun outings including some of my other friends, and this is how I started hanging out with Lisa. We had a shared interest event that I invited the group to individually and none of them could make it, but Lisa did end up saying yes to another unrelated outing and we really clicked. Lisa and I had begun hanging out around 2 months after Jen and I decided we would just remain friends. I started spending time with Lisa almost every day because she ended up having a ton of things in common with me to the point where we were basically the same person when we would share details of our lives. It took a couple months to realize we had differences, all this being a silly exaggerated joke to simply explain that this girl is my soulmate and I have been loving everything about her since dating her.
It's only been about 6 months but now things are getting more serious and us dating has been the best relationship I've ever been in, so I wanted to make sure I do things right and be completely open and honest with her. Honesty has never been an issue with me because I'm a very open book, but when it comes to my feelings I've had trouble being open in the past and don't want to make that mistake in my current relationship. I just wanted to know the best way to bring up the past fling with Jen to make sure I'm not lying to her by omission by not disclosing a past situationship(?) with her closest coworker friend. I hadn't thought it was worth bringing up because I hadn't previously thought about anybody my partners had been dating before me because it didn't seem relevant because she was happy with me and that's all that mattered. But another Reddit post made me wonder if this is something Lisa should be made aware of sooner rather than later, especially since she and Jen are pretty close.
So to recap: Jen and I had hung out casually for ~2 months. Near the end of this time, group chat is created including Jen, Lisa, and I. 1 month later Lisa and I start hanging out just us two. 1 month after that, we officially start dating. 6 months later, today happened.
So Reddit, am I overthinking this? Do I just let Lisa know that before we had started dating, Jen and I had hung out a couple times even if there was never any romantic feelings, or is there a more nuanced way to go about it because being too direct may come off as a bit too strong? I realized several years ago, in middle school, that I had a crush on my bestie. I don't know why, but it happened right when they said that they liked boys. I don't feel like I have any right to feel jealousy or anything like that, especially because who they like is well, who they like, and I shouldn't have any say in it, but I just.. Don't know.
My best friend is trans, and gay, which for the sake of my sanity while writing this, I'll call trans-gay, I suppose. He is one of the most kind-hearted individuals I could have ever met in my life. I have this funny little feeling whenever I talk to them. It's so nice to just be around them that I could just overheat and die.

A few days ago I posted about choosing between SB and UCLA, but last night I finally committed to Santa Barbara! Now, I’m trying to apply for housing, so I was wondering what dorm buildings yall think are the best, keeping in mind location (distance to beach/main campus/iv), dining halls nearby/quality of said dining halls, how nice the rooms/facilities are, and most importantly how fun the dorm building itself is. I’m trying to be super active with friends and stuff on my dorm floor.
Also, would you guys recommend doubles or triples, or suites if they’re worth it? I can’t find the rates for suites, nor where they are on the campus.

I don’t wanna make this long but I think it’s better if I rant. I need help. My girlfriend was raped a long time ago, but she has never been the same. We kinda have a long distance relationship, if you could call it that, but we only live around 2 hours apart. I won’t explain how it all happened but I can explain that she has never been the same. She trusts me to an extent, to a really healthy extent. She trusted me with the information regarding her past and how it all went down. I love her so much, I really do. She is so beautiful and so pretty. She is so god damn sweet and all I’ve ever wanted was someone like her. I’ve never felt true love until I found her. She is the only person who makes me feel cared about. I had an ex before but she never cared about me, she cheated on me and treated me like garbage. She made me feel like I was garbage. On top of all that I never really received real love whether it was from my neighborhood, which I live in a pretty ghetto neighborhood, and I never received love from my family. Whatever I got from my abusive family, was the polar opposite of love. Abuse, trust issues, mental scars, physical scars, all of that stuff. So now you guys know why I never really knew what love was, until I found her. But this rant isn’t about me, it’s about my perfect, precious, gorgeous, and lovely girlfriend. The thing is, sometimes she feels so down about herself all the time. She feels like she doesn’t do enough for me sometimes. I tell her, she does, because she truly does. I won’t go in too much depth of it, but she felt so nervous and shaken up. He made her act like everything was normal and she would break down every time she was alone. My poor baby had to go through so much. Prior to all of that, her father had died few years back. She was always constantly depressed. She felt like she let her father down when she was assaulted. We have been dating for 6 plus years, and living together for over 2 years. Met in Highschool and starting dating a year into college. He has been my best friend since even before dating, and I wholeheartedly believe he is a wonderful person.
However, this is not to say our relationship has been easy. We've gone through some of the most challenging milestones and periods of growth. We've talked about marriage, but this is something that he insists l'm being inpatient for.
Throughout our years together, l've noticed some things here and there. I knew in my heart the answer, but it all came out when I just sat him down and straight up asked him.
Years ago, when we first started dating, he told me a lie. A few days ago, l'd let my thoughts of insecurity get the better of my nervousness and mustered up the courage to ask him again. So I’ll just get started say this is about a ex-friend I’ve cut contact with for almost a year now, way back last December. I still feel guilt about it, even if I feel it was deserved. On the day of our high school graduation, after we walked out of school the friend group decided to simultaneously cut contact with Robbie (not real name). A few were hesitant, including me, but eventually we all decided it was for the better.
I was the closest to Robbie, I considered him one of my best friends, actually THE best friend. We were friends for 8 years, all of the good and bad I experienced in the extreme by being close to Robbie. I decided as the person closest to Robbie, I would give him a final goodbye before everyone blocked him. Some message about how I hoped the best for him, how it was great being his friend but the bad outweighed the good.
So what did Robbie do to gain the ire of the whole friend group and such a ruthless systematic cut off? Years and years of sexual harassment and insensitivity. I had so many good moments with him, I truly genuinely loved our friendship and it’s all tainted by his behaviour. Not just towards me but towards our friend group up. Inappropriate creepy touches, way too close in the thighs, ass feels, grabbing my wrist to rub it against his chest as I scream stop, forceful kisses (that I thankfully stopped) etc.
In the first years of friendship I found this funny (oh pubescent naive me), but getting older it turned uncomfortable. Now, don’t get me wrong, I made sexual jokes all the time. But Robbie was well…Robbie. It’s funny now thinking about it, maybe we should’ve done it sooner but now I’m kinda blaming myself since it seems I enabled him. I had countless talks with Robbie, about how I didn’t like his sexual touches, nor kisses or anything like that. I didn’t see him that way, I literally couldn’t (I’m aroace, he was the first person I revealed this to). He often dismissed this—mockingly it wasn’t real, I never could tell if he was joking or being ignorant on purpose as he is queer himself. He always chalked up his physical touches and his demands for it back as his ‘love language’.
I wanted to be a good friend, so I agreed reluctantly, even if I didn’t want to, even if I told him how uncomfortable it made me. He’d vent to me about his problems, asking for help and advice, I gave them-he didn’t listen and then vent to me about the same problems. I listened until I dreaded calls with him, until I said I don’t like calls can we just text? Because I knew he didn’t like to rant on text. Sometimes it felt like he was asking more than I could give, he’d make remarks about how his love life was so shit he was so depressed only if he could date someone (with a very obvious tone) or that we’d look so good together. I knew he liked me, he confessed multiple times even though he knew I was aroace, our then mutual friends told me multiple times Robbie said he liked me. I shot him down every time, and when I did he played it off as if it was a joke.
Anyways, this is just a fraction of the things he’s done. I don’t know if I experienced the worst of it all considering most people recognised his behaviour towards me-he had a lot of connections outside our friend group. Still, even though he made me uncomfortable, cross my boundaries and invalidate my identity I still feel guilty. That maybe it was too harsh, that we should’ve given him another chance.
But then I remember how many times I had to talk to him, how I had to make him admit he was wrong and then how he’d do it all over again. I’ll think back to that copy pasted apology he sent to everyone that I had heard over and over again. I’ll think back to the nights I dreaded calls, and how I had force myself to weakly laugh because he tired to guilt trip our friend ship forever about how he’d kill himself.
I still feel guilty, but I never want see him again, even if he becomes a better person, I hope our paths never cross again for good.

I’m 17 (f), 18 in June. My dad got a new job that’s a 16 hour drive from where I currently live (the US). But I really don’t want to leave, I know most people wouldn’t but I want to at least spend the summer with my friends, but my family is leaving June 13.
My mother is extremely emotionally abusive and has been my entire life. To sum it up, she has influenced panic attacks on me on multiple occasions, only to belittle me and scold me for it (new flash that makes it worse). I also have major depressive disorder, and my therapist has advised me to stay with a friend over the summer bc it would really help my mental health to get away from her. My dad is even on board with it, but my mom is keeping her title as helicopter parent and is not allowing me to stay even for a week.
My girlfriend (17F) has offered to let me stay with her and her family over summer, and I practically live with them anyway.
Should be allowed to stay? And if so, how can I take advantage of being 18 to let me stay? Ive been recommended emancipation by a few people and trusted adults, but I don’t think that’s the right move. I resent my mother for traumatizing me but I don’t want to appear in front of her in court. In a perfect world they would divorce, but that’s not the case.
I have a great support system and the best friends I could ask for. Hello! I am 37F looking for a (best?) friend. I’ve tried this before and it went … surprisingly well? Except there were too many people and I got overwhelmed but I made 1.4 friends out of it, so I figured I’d try again, with better knowledge!
FIRST THING: No cis dudes. It’s not you, it’s me. It’s just not a thing I’m comfortable with. Sorry not sorry.
SECONDER THING: Friendship is hard! And requires work for both parties! Because we’re communicating via the internet and we can’t just count on the rhythms of third grade to force us to spend time together. I am willing to put in the work, but reciprocation and a willingness to communicate is not only key, it’s basically the whole point!
FOURTHLY, I am long-winded. This should be self-evident.
THIRDEST, I’m a little weird. I like that about me. I’ve had problems in the last where I people-please too hard and wind up not being able to be true friends because the other person has gotten to know/like the facade, and bringing out the real me is almost like disingenuous, at that point? So trying to not do that anymore! Not gonna dump all my weird on you at once, but best you know it’s in the forecast and can dress appropriately (ponchos recommended for the first three rows).
I recognize this probably doesn’t sound Totes McGoats for most! That’s OK, we can just be internet acquaintances where you smile awkwardly when we make eye contact in line at the coffee shop and I desperately fail to remember why your avatar looks so familiar.
But you’ve made it this far! So about me:

• I don’t like coffee or beer. It’s fine if you do! Just not my thing.
• I am an aspiring gamer, in that in my head I play games a lot more than I do one the real world. But I’m trying! Hades II is pretty good, and I played Marvel Snap for a hot second. Maybe Balaatro? You tell me!
• You don’t have to be queer, but it helps. Not looking for anything more than friendship, but I am queer and not only does game recognize game, game also commiserates and understands game. Especially if you want to talk about books because basically I only read sapphic romances.
• I do read a lot and have passing knowledge of sci fi and comedy TV shows/movies from before 2019. My personality was The Simpsons and Futurama for most of my 20s.
• Pop culture stuff is fun to bond over, but I also want to know about you as a person! We are more than our obsessions
