2024.06.09 21:26 Hades_Soul Vikings and Inspirations
My guess as to the inspirations of the Vikings (Gryphon is an honorable mention due to his weapon being of Eastern Europe origin that was inspired by Dane Axes, and his default armor style is of Eastern and Northern Europe) submitted by Hades_Soul to forhonor [link] [comments] Huscarl: A housecarl (Old Norse: húskarl; Old English: huscarl) was a non-servile manservant or household bodyguard in medieval Northern Europe. Jarl: Jarl is a rank of the nobility in Scandinavia. In Old Norse, it meant "chieftain", particularly a chieftain set to rule a territory in a king's stead. Berserkir: In the Old Norse written corpus, berserkers (Old Norse: berserkir) were those who were said to have fought in a trance-like fury, a characteristic which later gave rise to the modern English word berserk (meaning 'furiously violent or out of control'). Úlfhéðnar: Frenzy warriors wearing the skins of wolves. Jǫfurr: Germanic frenzied warriors who wore the skin of wild boar. Valkyrie: In Norse mythology, a valkyrie (from Old Norse: valkyrja, lit. 'chooser of the slain') is one of a host of female figures who guide souls of the dead to the god Odin's hall Valhalla. Shieldmaiden: A shield-maiden (Old Norse: skjaldmær [ˈskjɑldˌmæːr]) was a female warrior from Scandinavian folklore and mythology. Gaels: The Gaels (/ɡeɪlz/ GAYLZ; Irish: Na Gaeil [n̪ˠə ˈɡeːlʲ]; Scottish Gaelic: Na Gàidheil [nə ˈkɛː.al]; Manx: Ny Gaeil [nə ˈɡeːl]) are an ethnolinguistic group[6] native to Ireland, Scotland and the Isle of Man. Gallowglass: The Gallowglass (also spelled galloglass, gallowglas or galloglas; from Irish: gallóglaigh meaning "foreign warriors") were a class of elite mercenary warriors who were principally members of the Norse-Gaelic clans of Ireland and Scotland between the mid 13th century and late 16th century. Pict: The Picts were a group of peoples in what is now Scotland north of the Firth of Forth, in the Early Middle Ages. Goði: Gothi or goði (plural goðar, fem. gyðja; Old Norse: guþi) was a position of political and social prominence in the Icelandic Commonwealth. The term originally had a religious significance, referring to a pagan leader responsible for a religious structure and communal feasts, but the title is primarily known as a secular political title from medieval Iceland. Einherjar: In Norse mythology, the einherjar (singular einheri; literally "army of one", "those who fight alone")[1][2] are those who have died in battle and are brought to Valhalla by valkyries. The einherjar prepare daily for the events of Ragnarök, when they will advance for an immense battle at the field of Vígríðr. Rokkatru: Rokkatru is a Norse pagan religion that focuses on the worship of the Jotnar, which are the giants and giantesses in Norse mythology. Followers of Rokkatru believe in honoring and working with these deities, often seen as representing chaos, darkness, and the untamed forces of nature. The term "Rokkatru" itself means "faith in the powers of chaos" or "belief in the Giants". Varangian Guard: The Varangian Guard (Greek: Τάγμα τῶν Βαράνγων, romanized: Tágma tōn Varángōn) was an elite unit of the Byzantine army from the tenth to the fourteenth century who served as personal bodyguards to the Byzantine emperors. The Varangian Guard was known for being primarily composed of recruits from Northern Europe, including mainly Norsemen from Scandinavia but also Anglo-Saxons from England. Dacian: The Dacians (/ˈdeɪʃənz/; Latin: Daci [ˈdaːkiː]; Greek: Δάκοι, Δάοι,Δάκαι) were the ancient Indo-European inhabitants of the cultural region of Dacia, located in the area near the Carpathian Mountains and west of the Black Sea. They are often considered a subgroup of the Thracians. This area includes mainly the present-day countries of Romania and Moldova, as well as parts of Ukraine, Eastern Serbia, Northern Bulgaria, Slovakia, Hungary and Southern Poland. |

2024.06.09 20:59 Odd-Crab7707 Serious Allegations about Danny (Repost)
I want to preface this by saying that this is not a joke, I'm not one to joke about serious matters like this and it would be insensitive and rude to do so. submitted by Odd-Crab7707 to DannyGonzalez [link] [comments] I also want to make it very clear that these are allegations, I understand that without hard proof or a confession, claims like this shouldn't be treated as hard fact, and I wouldn't expect people to do so, but I do think that the evidence available right now is strong enough for this issue to be seriously considered. I believe that at some point, during the Summer of 2008, Danny Gonzalez kidnapped Neil Patrick Harris and stole his identity, replacing him as the actor for his character 'Barney Stinson' in CBS Sitcom 'How I Met Your Mother' I understand that some people might think that this claim is ridiculous, after all, 'How could he have gotten through NPH's A-list body guards' 'How could he have even gotten to Los Angeles, where the show was filmed, from his childhood home in Wheaton, Illinois', 'Where could he have possibly hid former broadway star Neil Patrick Harris' But I feel that, with all the evidence available, there is enough proof to substantiate this claim, or even to force Danny to properly respond to it. Firstly, I feel like the similarities between them are two great to ignore, both are American-born media personalities, both did theatre work during high school (with NPH even working on Broadway at certain points), and (while their ages are fairly far apart), given Danny's age, NPH is likely about as old as Danny's parents. This means that if Danny tried to assume Harris' identity, it wouldn't be difficult for him to do so because of how similar his and his parents' life were to NPH's And the timelines also match up: The Summer of 2008 was between seasons 3 and 4 of How I Met Your Mother, and there is a noticeable change in Barney's personality during this period. Before season 4, Stinson was a serial womanizer who didn't have feelings for anyone or anything, but season 4 portrays him very differently, as a hopeless romantic yearning for a woman (Female lead Robin Scherbatsky), but not having the courage to take action. This sort of change would occur if a different actor assumed the role of Stinson during this time. Also, the Summer of 2008 was near, right after Danny Gonzalez moved back to the United States from the UK, where he had lived with his family before for a few years. Neil Patrick Harris lived in the United States during this time, and during the summer he would likely have been residing in his childhood home in New Mexico. Is it really a coincidence that as soon as Danny came back from the UK, NPH's acting style suddenly changed? Now you may think 'But didn't Danny live in Illinois? How could he have gone all the way to New Mexico, well in Illinois, the minimum age for a driving learner's permit was 15, which Danny would have been at the time, meaning that Danny could have hijacked his car and driven it to New Mexico, under the guise of 'education'. Also, take a look at these pictures: NPH as the title character in 1989-1993 Sitcom 'Doogie Howser' Danny Gonzalez as the title character in Youtube Channel 'Danny Gonzalez' The first image is of NPH as a child in a different sitcom, 'Doogie Howser', in which he plays a genius child doctor. The second is Danny. Take a look at the resemblance, they have the same eye colour and eyebrow structure. They have the same hair colour and ear shape. They look practically identical. NPH as 'Barney Stinson' in CBS sitcom 'How I Met Your Mother' Look at 'him' as Barney Stinson after Summer 2008, HE LOOKS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. He looks nothing like his young self, has much brighter hair (not shown in the image), and is holding a glass of alcohol, which he did not as a child. Think about it logically, why did NPH previously look just like Danny before the Summer of 2008, but look just totally different after, The only logical explanation is that after Danny abducted him, he didn't want people to be suspicious about there resemblance and thus tried to change his appearance so that he wouldn't get busted for his crime. We know that Danny is a master of disguise from the whole Troy Becker or Ned Flames thing, did you ever stop to think where he learned those skills? He learned it from his previous experience pretending to be NPH. But theres only one question left to ask, Why? Why did Danny go through all this trouble to replace Neil Patrick Harris, how would doing such a thing benifit him? Well you have to thing about it critically. I already mentioned NPH's other show 'Doogie Howser', in which he played a genius child doctor who would save lives through his medical expertise. The show put NPH and his talent at the forefront of American conciousness and made millions of American expectant parents hope that their child could be a medical or acting prodigy like Howser or NPH were. The show ran for 4 years until the very year before Danny was born, meaning that Danny's parents likley would have watched it. This would lead them to hope that Danny would be an acting or medical genius iun the future, which he would not. This was probably the reason that Danny got into theatre, because he wanted to impress his parents by being like Neil Patrick Harris. Eventually, he would've grown frustrated at his inability to make his parents proud by being a successful actor or child-doctor, and would see Harris as a symbol of his failure to acheive these goals. In the end, he would decide that the only way to become Neil Patrick Harris, would be to become Neil Patrick Harris. Then, during the season break, Danny decided to strike. He used his newly gained learner's permit to drive down from Illinois to Albequerque, where NPH lived, before kidnapping and stealing his identity, replacing him as Barney Stinson in CBS sitcom HIMYM, and taking on all of his future acting roles. Over time he would learn to disguise himself, and would later develop an internal split personality. He would wake up some days thinking he was Danny Gonzalez and others thinking he was Neil Patrick Harris, and at some point mabye he began to believe he really was Neil Patrick Harris, we cannot know or look too far into the twisted inner palace of Danny Gonzalez's mind. Danny: if you're eading this, I want you to know that what you're doing is NOT RIGHT. I know it'll be hard to admit the truth after all this time and I bet that you think that you got away with it, but you have to and you didn't. I don't think you're a bad person, just that you made a terrible mistake due to abuse and frustration, and I understand it. But listen: you owe it to your millions of fans, the people around you, and Neil Patrick Harris's real family to be honest. There are people, real people, who are suffering because of your selfish actions, and who you have the power to save from their greiving. And if by any chance, Neil Patrick Harris is still alive, I beg of you, please let him go. I know itll be hard, but in your silence you're only incriminating yourself. The best option for you is to either dispute the allegations or to cooperate with the proper authorities. The choice is yours (Reposted due to the 'Incorrect Flair' being used in the original post, this is clearly just a mod attempt to discredit my theory by labelling it as 'humour', but I don't care because in the end, I know the facts will prevail. |
2024.06.09 20:55 Normodox IDF: Hamas terrorist and journalist was holding 3 hostages in home alongside family
Abdallah Aljamal, news contributor and ex-Hamas spokesman, killed by troops in hostage rescue in Nuseirat; he was holding Almog Meir Jan, Andrey Kozlov and Shlomi Ziv captiveThree of four hostages rescued by special forces from the central Gaza Strip over the weekend were being held at the home of Abdallah Aljamal, a Palestinian journalist and member of the Hamas terror group, the Israeli military confirmed on Sunday.Rumors had circulated on social media after Ramy Abdu, head of the Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor, said in a post on X that soldiers had climbed into the Aljamals’ home during the raid in Nuseirat on Saturday, killing several members of the family, including Abdallah and his father, Dr. Ahmed Aljamal. Abdu published an image ostensibly from the Aljamals’ home alongside his post, though he made no mention of the possibility that hostages were held there. Abdallah Aljamal was previously a spokesman for the Hamas-run labor ministry in Gaza and has contributed to several news outlets in the past. Amid the war in Gaza, numerous articles by Aljamal had been published by the Palestine Chronicle outlet, including while hostages Almog Meir Jan, Andrey Kozlov and Shlomi Ziv were allegedly being held captive in his home. (The fourth hostage, Noa Argamani, had been rescued from a separate building amid Saturday’s operation.) Ramy Abdu رامي عبده on X: "In an initial testimony documenting the killings committed by the Israeli army in the Nuseirat camp today, the @EuroMedHR reported that the Israeli army used a ladder to enter the home of Dr. Ahmed Al-Jamal. The army immediately executed 36-year-old Fatima Al-Jamal upon https://t.co/DjfjerIZTf" / X The Israel Defense Forces in a statement said that it and the Shin Bet security agency could confirm that Aljamal had been holding the three hostages in his home in Nuseirat, alongside his own family. “This is further proof that the Hamas terrorist organization uses the civilian population as a human shield,” the military said. Amid the raid on the Aljamals’ home, Yamam commander Ch. Insp. Arnon Zmora was fatally wounded by Hamas terrorists’ gunfire. Zmora died upon arriving at a hospital in Israel, and the rescue mission was later named “Operation Arnon” in his honor. https://preview.redd.it/awvwncmxel5d1.png?width=680&format=png&auto=webp&s=472b91386bfcaab7848211553ec12b0631531d15 Aljamal also wrote one column for Al Jazeera in 2019, prompting rumors that he was a Gazan correspondent for the Qatari news outlet — a claim that the network stridently denied on Sunday. Argamani, Meir Jan, Kozlov and Ziv had been abducted from the Supernova music festival near the community of Re’im on the morning of October 7, when some 3,000 Hamas-led terrorists killed 1,200 people and took 251 hostages in a murderous rampage in southern Israel. Officers of the police’s elite Yamam counter-terrorism unit, along with Shin Bet agents, simultaneously raided two multi-story buildings in the heart of Nuseirat, where the four hostages were being held by Hamas-affiliated families and guards of the terror group, according to the military. Hamas’s government media office claimed at least 274 people were killed amid the operation, an unverified figure that doesn’t differentiate between combatants and civilians. The IDF acknowledged that it killed Palestinian civilians amid the fighting, but it placed the blame on Hamas for holding hostages and fighting in a dense civilian environment. 2024.06.09 20:15 Toiletverse_guide Defence of Hawaii guide
IntroductionDue to excessive complaints of this admittedly difficult event (discord), I will hereby provide a comprehensive guide on this event.General requirements
Setting the stageAlright with basic requirements out of the way, let me explain figure 1. Here you can see sectors labelled “1”, “2”, “3” and “4”.In this guide I will explain each individual sectors. Before we begin, you can see the general actions taken by the enemy (highlighted in red) and yourself (highlighted in blue) Sector 1In this sector, in figure 2 we can spot a harmless looking shore. What could possibly go wrong? You may ask. Well, you see the forts in the distance? Yes they spawn in transport ship that will try to land at the shores. How would you counter it? It’s simple! Simply use guderian to repel the transport ships. Do remember to set up maxed anti-missile air defences as to counter the Akagi bombing with ease. Sector 2Sector two is even simpler; Yes the forts spawn transport and try to seize the objectives, but here in figure 3 you can see the narrow choke point. How to utilise the choke point to your advantage? Use bunkers to block off the choke point, and enemy forces would be unable to penetrate. Sector 3Right now things are getting complicated. Enemies will try and break through, destroy your navy and seize the ports. You need to stop this from happening, or else you will lose! However, you got hope. You see the choke point at the bottom in figure 4? You can block that off with your own units, notably submarines. Initially block with the three given units, the cruiser (preferably commanded by Darlan), the destroyer and submarine. Three naval units is enough to block off the enemy. However as the Japanese amass in numbers, spawn in more submarines (stack 1) in the three given ports. Spawn as much as possible, even if you only can spawn two per round. This will ensure the Japanese would not get close to the key objectives. A good tip is to make anti-air missile around the ports, which the enemy Akagis will target your subs, and the damage taken would be reduced. This distracts them of the actual target, the battleships. Sector 4The most complicated sector of all, you are tasked by Kimmel to guard this EXPOSED port in figure 5. To make matters worst, the Japanese McCampbell will actively target any naval unit on this tile. So how to defend this port from the determined enemies?First step, place the highest hp naval unit on the port, then put Yamaguchi in charge of the port. Second step is to spawn a medic, put your main infantry general in charge (ie with infantry badge) on a medic. In conjunction with Kimmel (also a medic), continuously heal Yamaguchi. Pro tip: when you have healed Yamaguchi, retreat one tile away from Yamaguchi, as to avoid the devastating Akagi splash damage. Third step is to make sure max level anti-missile covers the port and your own medics. Reasoning behind these precautionsAs I’ve briefly mentioned, Japanese Mccampbell is obnoxious, and is able to ruthlessly tear apart any unit on the port. In order to counter this, or to put it harshly lessen the devastation, maximum healing is employed. Here are the effects of the precautions that we took:
Rumouring the Japanese MccampbellPrepare your artillery generals to rumour him when he approaches the port. Try to rumour him so that he falls into chaos. If your eliminate the Japanese Mccampbell (JcC), then he cannot utilise Air Force to threaten your Yamaguchi. After JcC perishes, your Yamaguchi can regenerate health effectively, right back to full health. He can hold the port with ease, so long as JcC is in chaos and dead. As seen here in figure 6 threatened with numerous submarines and Yamamoto he stayed healthy. |
2024.06.09 20:04 __T-J__ Chip Roam w/ Arrival
Zones: • Yellow = “Why Walk” (aka Beacon) submitted by __T-J__ to MobileLegendsGame [link] [comments] • Red = “Arrival” Optimal use of Arrival is from base with the speed boost obtained from being in base. Use Overtime just before going through Beacon. This is preparation for what may be on the other side of your destination. Every second matters. Throw down portal onto desired enemy after Overtime triggers and just before using Crash Course. This is to ensure that your allies arrive to a freshly stunned enemy primed and ready for the attack. Above all else, know your Beacon Numbers. Hesitation or going to the wrong beacon is devastating. • Why Walk: 20s CD • Arrival: 75s CD MAKE THEM COUNT! Be willing to use Arrival to defend cross map if things go south post Portal Use or if your allies get carried away with their embarking on their voyage across the map and don’t go back through the portal to where they came from. Also, upon throwing down Portal, if you find yourself severely injured and can slip away fast enough, return to base quickly and run through the base portal to return with full HP. Yes, it can be done. Split the map where the Red Lines are crossing. Each quadrant has a Beacon. These are setup completely perpendicular to spawn. Use Arrival on Turrets (intact or destroyed), minions, etc. closest to your desired target area to get there fastest if not within Beacon Zones (Yellow). A general rule of thumb is if you’re within the Green Rectangle, and your Beacon Travel is available, use it … unless it’s critical and dire for you to get there faster than it takes for you to get to closest beacon then use Arrival. This is often used in response to the threat of the enemy onto an ally or reinforcements are needed and there’s no ally in the area. Go be that reinforcement. Do not be afraid to become a split-push threat come mid/late game. If the enemy approaches you, use your Portal to rally the troops. Suddenly what was a 1v1 has become an opportunity for your team to turn it into something more. Beware of enemy units who are willing to travel through portals dropped in areas where your allies are coming from. Guard your Portal with your life until all Allies are safely through the area. Portal placement is vital. Don’t just throw it down wherever. If you place it under a turret, be certain you have Turret aggro, otherwise you could set your allies up for a Successful Trip back to Spawn. The next portal you throw down they may not have the same willingness to take it leaving you stranded. Scout. Track. Roam. Crossmap. Out-rotate. Flank. And eat bags of chips. Lots and lots of chips. Let your low health bar be what it may. It only takes a few seconds for your Passive Ability to sustain your health back for you. Use returning to base as preparation for the zoomies Arrival Speed-up. Otherwise remain on the map and within Beacon Zones. Yes, this means avoid standing in the middle lane as much as possible. Apart from spawn points, the mid lane is the furthest point away from your nearest beacon. It’s a very inverted way of viewing the map. I hope this helps anyone who may be interested in playing with Chip and aren’t certain about which Battle Spell to use &/or how to optimize his Beacon & Portal effectively along with Overtime & Crash Course. Any questions or suggestions please let me have them! Hope you enjoy this! |
2024.06.09 19:56 Werdna881 Dev Diary #67: Nomsyulhan & Gozengun
Hello there! u/werdna881 here again! Told you you’d be seeing me again, and this time… Oh, this time I’m very, very proud to present a project that’s been more-or-less, on-and-off, two years in the making, and the name of it is Nomsyulhan. While some of you may be familiar with the bitbucket, today is a proper showcase for what's been cooking. So strap yourself in, today we’re in for a ride. submitted by Werdna881 to Anbennar [link] [comments] MapAs you can already see below, North Haless, now called Gozengun, has gotten a huge shakeup, with over a dozen new tags. A lot of wasteland has been filled in or reworked (no more cheese wasteland, folks!), and even the ancient homeland of the Khantaar has been revealed. Here the Runsukhi in the lowlands are controlled by their plateau dwelling kin, and we can see many other abundant changes. So let's get right into them, shall we?THE VALLEY, THE VALLEY IS REAL- *ehem* alright, now that that's out of our systems, let's move on. NomsyulhanNomsyulhan, a rough approximation from the Hobgoblin tongue for “Where Sky Touches Earth” in Common, encompasses an area that many refer to as “The Valley” - though it is far more than that. In ancient times, when the Precursors invaded Haless for access to its ample spirit energies, it was not uninhabited. In Haless proper dwelt the ancient Hill Giants and their giantkin servants. In the south, “Haless Proper” consisting of Rahen, Yanshen, and Vimdatrong (the name for what was once unimaginatively called South Haless), the Precursors slaughtered their servants and destroyed their kingdoms, siphoning the immense spiritual energy with the great spirit complexes… except in Nomsyulhan. In Nomsyulhan dwelt a kingdom of Stone Giants, magnificent artisans and artists who sculpted great works of stone, going as far as to create numerous keeps and cities which would be traded to their sky-borne Cloud Giant cousins. These giants had been rocked by a rebellion of their Ogrish servants, many of whom stole their secrets and fled to the wilderness beyond the mountains and made their way east. The Precursors destroyed this kingdom as well, and found the corpse of an ancient True Stone Giant - a massive, primordial being lithified in the deserts. Here in Nomsyulhan within the skull of this dead creature, the Precursors would create the test bed for all their interplanetary portal magics, a dark gateway housed in the pried open maw of the ancient stone corpse. Fed by the Spirit Grid, the Precursors used this gateway of their creation to explore the stars, and created a great city on the shores of the local lake to house their best and brightest explorers, researchers, and early settlers for their colonies among the stars. Only when a world was assured to be tamed would it be connected to the Pillar of Heaven in Aelantir and contact granted to the heart of the Empire. Meanwhile the gateway in Nomsyulhan would be set to explore new worlds and acquire new material for their many experiments. Abandoned after the Call of Reflection however, the Precursors would shutter away their experiments, lock the doors, and seal the few known passages with elaborate wards to ensure none could follow after them. For thousands of years these magics decayed, breaking, twisting, releasing captured horrors that were thankfully contained both by the high surrounding mountains, and the wards blocking passage out or in... But after the rise of the Nadimraj, Nomsyulhan would encounter its first sapient inhabitants in millennia… The Soulseeker OgresThe Soulseekers are descendant servants of the Hill Giants of Haless. They revere the Stone Giants, worshipping the uncountable statues that dot the landscape. Originally dwelling in Northern Rahen, these Ogres fled across the Serpentspine itself, finding no passes or passages to ease their travels but instead climbing those deadly peaks and entering Nomsyulhan on foot. The Soulseekers are different from the Fathides and Mossmouths, and even the Horned Ogres of Azjakuma, for the Soulseekers deny their innate Hunger, and have not replaced it with the consumption of Chi.Olkhalsu, written by Dragonchef, often do trade with the Relic Guilds of Bazuneizar. Not just in Precursor Relics, but valuable steel. The Soulseekers check their hunger through fasting, asceticism, and monastic dwelling in Temple-Holdfasts, vast urban constructs and safeholds (suspiciously similar to the Kelaktar of the Fathides and the Shigirii of Azjakuma…) amidst the incredibly lethal alien wildlife that is endemic to Nomsyulhan. During the summer, many Soulseekers venture out, roaming the wilderness to graze domesticated beasts alien to the rest of Halann, and offer homage and patronage to the thousands of statues of their gods, the Giants, found littered in various states of decay, destruction, and emotional state. Shevhedil, by ogre expert Alpog! Poor in material, but rich in spiritual wealth and knowledge of the wastes. However, the Soulseekers are not alone in their inhabitance of Nomsyulhan, and as you may have noticed from the map at the start… bear a curious naming pattern that may seem familiar to some lore aficionados… The Eagle HobgoblinsThose Harimari in Cangji? Not too much to worry about, though they seem very protective of that fire in their house...The Eagle Soars above the clouds! And with them those that take it as their totem. The Eagle Hobgoblins are the second race of Nomsyulhan, and with them a look into the past… of a kind. Before the time of The Command, before the concept of A Command, and even before The Day of Ashen Skies itself, Hobgoblinkind was ruled by Mage-Shamans, backed with a divine mandate from their gods to rule. When the Day of Ashen Skies occurred, this triggered a mass cultural event known as the Godloss, which made the hobgoblins believe their gods had, or were, abandoning them. We all know the rest of the story… or do we? Around the province of Maruvad there is a great edifice of the Raheni High Gods, called the Godswall, and was settled by the hobgoblins while they inhabited the Raheni Highlands. When Harimar began his unification of Rahen, he led his armies to push the Hobgoblins back into the caves of the Serpentspine, by fire, blood, and sword. Dozens of clans fled to the base of the Godswall, and more besides were forced to retreat there after one of Harimar’s armies cut any chance of passage to the dubious safety of the Serpentspine. One mage, known only by history as Kuense, discovered a stair passage hidden under an incredibly powerful illusion spell. Climbing it, he found himself atop the Godswall, and returned, first leading his own clan to safety, and then the remainder, before sealing the passage behind them by fusing the stone shut. Up here in the heights, the hobgoblins who had followed Kuense would take the totem of the Eagle, and see magic not as their people’s destruction- but salvation. Gosh Golly Darnit wrote these magnificent ideas, and they go oh so very hard. The Eagle Hobgoblins of Nomsyulhan retain the ancient ways of their race, ruled in semi-permanent clans led by their most powerful mages. Venerating the concept of Cosmic Order through the lens of their old gods, who have morphed over time to more represent “Laws” of Magic (completely divested from the Cannorian School of thought as well). They value freedom and the quest for individual enlightenment as they soar through the skies on the backs of Dragonnel - small winged, dragon-like creatures that can be found in the peaks of Nomsyulhan. But it is to be remembered they are still hobgoblins, and they still have a duty to their clan as a whole. Though the mages may rule, they are expected to aid and assist those further down the ladder than them in their own quest for Enlightenment, for greed and selfishness is the gateway for Chaos, and the descent to Entropy. Naturally, as a senior writer, I refused to be outdone by the smaller writer. Each of these races get their own tech groups, but I won’t necessarily spoil those surprises, here at least. The Talda'KhudiTo the east lay the lands of Khaalshag and Moduk, which have also seen a revamp alongside Nomsyulhan under the collective region name Gozengun, a Daenguni exonym for the region once simply called "North Haless". As you have no doubt noticed below, the Oinukhudi Cheqh’anate rule from the Forbidden Plains to the west to bordering Daengun in the east. These forest and steppe nomads are the Oinukhudi, a horde ruled by the Cheqh’an, or Divine King. They and their subjects practice Un Khudai, or One Harmony in Common- a spiritualistic faith that seeks harmony and balance with the various spirits of nature, appeasing them and working with them as their roles of custodians of the land. But in 1444, the Oinukhudi find themselves in a fragile position.Your territories are wide and vast, o' Cheqh'an... but beware the thundering of hooves and claws... The current Cheqh’an has a tenuous grip on power, as various Taishi Bannerlords rule much of the Oinukhudi heartland. Meanwhile the Hill Trolls; once ancient servants of the Hill Giants of Gozengun, tend to their mastodon herds in ancient woods, ruled by their vassal king who swears to the Cheqh’an. Finally, to the west, the Anarkhudi, cousins to the Oinukhudi venture daringly out through the Iron Gate of Shoran, an ancient Fire Giant Fortress, into the Forbidden Plains. The prosperity of the Cheqh’anate has brought the small urban cities much, but left them filled to bursting with too many hands and mouths. Desperate to alleviate their overpopulation crisis, decades ago under the current Cheqh’an’s heir, a figure beloved by all, they pushed forward into the plains and did something thought impossible - conquer territory from the Centaurs, even if it cost him his very life, and the will of his father to rule. The Oinukhudi are a much more traditional take for life in the northern forests and steppes... but still recognizably Anbennar! Now however, war seems inevitable; it can be delayed, but after the death of the current Cheqh’an, there is certainly no hope to avoid the Talda’Khudi. Those enclaves are intended! Be considerate of your choices... Who shall stand? Who shall fall? Will there ever be unity in the north again? While no Mingsplosion, the Talda’Khudi sees the Oinukhudi Cheqh’anate shatter in three, with the Anarkhudi and Hill Trolls breaking away, and the Oinukhudi themselves facing internal chaos. You will struggle, you will bleed. But in the end? There can only be One Harmony- yours. The Hill Trolls of Gozengun are the last remnants of an ancient age. FormablesFor both races of Nomsyulhan, there are two formables you can create- for the Soulseekers, uniting enough of the region allows you to create Samthalsu, a great confederacy of the Temple-Holdfasts.Samthalsu means \"Three Souls\", an alliance of the desert basin's major Temple-Holdfasts. As well, the Hobgoblins aren’t left out either, with their very own formable in Nirenun Syul! Nirenun Syul translates to \"Convocation (of the) Sky\", aptly fitting for the Eagle Hobgoblins OutroNow, some of you might be thinking “But wait? No MTs? Bad Update! Dead Mod!” Now, whilst true that initially there will be no beloved Anbennar Mission Trees for the region, we working on Gozengun decided to allocate our time in ensuring we have as solid a foundation for lore and tag concepts as possible for future development. We are only human, this is a volunteer project, and we didn’t want to have as long a wait in between updates as last time! As well, any MTs will no doubt wish to make use of the abundant Precursor relics found across the region, including a certain Pillar...There’s plenty I didn’t cover in this development diary, from the Plateau Monasteries of the Runsukhi, to the Ashwoven Harimari of Cangji, and the Relic Guilds of Bazuneizar, but that is not for today, nor the immediate future… so I leave you today with a beautiful sneak peek of Biegeltoren’s latest work for Anbennar- depicting Salvation’s Promise. The image here depicts an event referred to as the Salvation of the Sandmaw, taking place roughly over a period between 5-15 years After Ash. Salvation's Promise is an ancient Stone Giant fortification that once marked the only entrance to their kingdom from the west, and their distant kin the Fire Giants. A vast switchback that climbs from the base of the Range of the Damned to the very top, it is a dizzying array of fortifications and pathways. Inhabited in 1444 by Motelisamok, in Common known as The Wardens of Heaven. These are the last independent Soulseeker ogres west of the Kharunyana after Kuenan Nirokyu's invasion of The'as Aschur. Here they guard the ascension to the mountain realms, in earlier times against the peoples of the Steppe, and later marauding centaur Caehns. So I leave you with that, my friends and companions! Stay tuned for this upcoming Tuesday, where the rest of Haless gets to shine! |

1)Will this be your first dog? If not, what experience do you have owning/training dogs? My first dog by myself, but I have had two dogs growing up. One was a yorkie poodle mix that I only had for a few years when I was young. The other was a mutt that was half great Pyrenees and other random large breeds. 2)Do you have a preference for rescuing a dog vs. going through a [reputable breeder]( http://ownresponsibly.blogspot.com/2011/07/identifying-reputable-breeder.html)? Not particularly as my favorite dog I've had was a rescue and the sweetest hting ever, but I have always been curious to get a purebred. 3)Describe your ideal dog. medium-large, loves cuddling, good with other dogs, good with other people, able to train recall, loves to be active/run with a lot of stamina, loves to learn. 4)What breeds or types of dogs are you interested in and why? Great Pyrenees because I love huge dogs and they seem to have great temperament, Golden retriever because they have bee nmy favorite breed since being a kid, or a mix of the two. 5)What sorts of things would you like to train your dog to do? Recall, be able to run with me while I bike, climbing Crags dog, able to walk without pulling, able to walk around people, able to play with other dogs responsibly 6) Do you want to compete with your dog in a sport (e.g. agility, obedience, rally) or use your dog for a form of work (e.g. hunting, herding, livestock guarding)? If so, how much experience do you have with this work/sport? No **Care Commitments** 7) How long do you want to devote to training, playing with, or otherwise interacting with your dog each day? at least one hour, some days 4+ hours, depending on how much time I have. 2 hours as puppy. 8) How long can you exercise your dog each day, on average? What sorts of exercise are you planning to give your dog regularly and does that include using a dog park? at least an hour per day, sometimes more. dog park if they like other dogs, but they need to have good rcall. 9)How much regular brushing are you willing to do? Are you open to trimming hair, cleaning ears, or doing other grooming at home? If not, would you be willing to pay a professional to do it regularly? I would be able to pay someone to groom once every few months, but I would be willing to brush them at home. **Personal Preferences** 10)What size dog are you looking for? medium-large 11) How much shedding, barking, and slobber can you handle? shedding and barking are okay, but I don't like drool. 12) How important is being able to let your dog off-leash in an unfenced area? very important because I would like to be able to take them climbing with me and biking. **Dog Personality and Behavior** 13) Do you want a snuggly dog or one that prefers some personal space? snuggly 14) Would you prefer a dog that wants to do its own thing or one that’s more eager-to-please? mix 15) How would you prefer your dog to respond to someone knocking on the door or entering your yard? How would you prefer your dog to greet strangers or visitors? barking at door knocking/yard. greet strangers happily and friendly. 16) Are you willing to manage a dog that is aggressive to other dogs? 2024.06.09 19:29 AlexBudarin World Values Study: Over a third of Americans think it's good to have a "strong" leader, and over a third believe religion should trump science whenever the two conflict
I have long believed that about a third of the USA's population is inclined toward Authoritarianism, chiefly based on the percentage of the population who continued to give high approval ratings to Nixon and George W. Bush after their disastrous Presidencies. submitted by AlexBudarin to AmericanProgressive [link] [comments] Curiosity led me to investigate potentially relevant data collected by recent World Values Surveys (WVS). The WVS website has a page which allows you to do simple online analyses of the data they have collected for each country [or any combination of countries], so I decided to check the results of their recent USA surveys on a couple of questions at least somewhat related to cultural authoritarianism and hierarchical authoritarianism. The following are screen shots of the answers I received. Whether Americans think it's good to have a "strong" leader": WVS survey 2010-2014 WVS survey 2017-2022 So roughly 33% to 37% of Americans think it's good to have a "strong" leader. I know it's not much to rely on, but I think it hints at the percentage of hierarchical authoritarians. Another item: "Whenever science and religion conflict, religion is always right". WVS survey 2010-2014 WVS survey 2017-2022 In this case, roughly 33% to 38% of Americans believe religion should trump science whenever the two appear to be in conflict. Although it's hardly proof, I think this hints at cultural authoritarianism. Note that cultural authoritarians may or not be hierarchical authoritarians, as well. I think it's important to investigate these phenomena further, because value preferences within a population doubtless have consequences for their political and policy choices. 2024.06.09 19:16 rakkycze Last page of the captain's log. Forgive me.
Hello there strangers and explorers I have a story to tell... submitted by rakkycze to NoMansSkyTheGame [link] [comments] ( CHAT GPT version of my story in proper english because english is not my native language so I type like a dumdum xD ) Yesterday, I booted up No Man's Sky and saw that there was a community event ending in six weeks. So, I began my journey. I spawned on a moon, though I can't remember much of what happened or where exactly I was. But I knew one thing for sure: I had a task to do. Someone or something had left me a note with quests on how to set sail into space. I was very confused, and my head hurt badly. I said to myself, "I don't have time to try to remember what happened. I need to survive." I withdrew my binoculars and looked around. I was on a dead moon... or planet? I couldn't tell. It definitely lacked an atmosphere. My radar showed the temperature was 10 degrees Celsius. At least something positive. For now, I didn’t need to deal with cold, radiation, heat, or a toxic environment. While scouting, I scanned local minerals, curious if they had anything useful. Every single mineral contained only ferrite dust. I scooped up a few rocks with my multi-tool and then noticed a shipwreck 1000 units away. "This must be my ship," I said to myself. I put away my binoculars and ran towards the ship. When I climbed a nearby mountain, I spotted a structure—a house? A warehouse? It was definitely built by humans. So, I decided to take a quick look. It was only 200 units away, so why not? When I entered, it was clearly a warehouse. Small storage units, a portal, oxygen harvesters, and planters with carbon were inside. I'm not proud of what I did, but I can assure you, that carbon could be a life-changer, especially since I had no resources. I stole every single piece of carbon I found, got outside, and took a bike that was parked in front. When I arrived at my ship, I was right—it was a wreck. I quickly examined the ship and assessed the damage. The launch thrusters were shot, the pulse engine was fried, and a few other components blocked my ship from functioning fully. I checked my deployable technology and realized I needed hydrogen and pure ferrite dust to repair it. Then came the first shock: I didn't know how to craft a refinery. Did I forget it? Did I lose the blueprint? I must have. So, without hesitation, I drove the bike back to the warehouse. At the warehouse, I stole carbon again (something I’m not proud of) and looked for a refinery. There was none. So, I had a bright idea: there was a teleporter. What if I just teleported to another base and tried to find a refinery? So, I stepped into it. At first, I was surprised. It took me to a planet with extreme storms and hurricanes. That didn't matter to me since I stayed indoors at this new base I had trespassed upon. Oh boy, how wrong I was. After searching for about two solid minutes, I conceded and entered the teleporter again. This is where my tragic end begins. I appeared on the same extreme weather planet. Radiation was at 9.3. Since I didn't have any sodium, I quickly ran into a small 1x1 shelter built by some Chinese player. When I peeked out, I noticed the teleporter didn’t have power. I panicked, jumped outside, and tried to fix the power by adding carbon to the engine. Well, it didn’t help. There was no connection between the battery and the teleporter. I went back to the 1x1, totally defeated. I wondered what I should do now. Is this my new life file? Living in someone’s shelter for the rest of my life? Should I dedicate my life to exploring this strange place? No. I refused to be defeated. I pulled out my binoculars again and looked around. I saw only local edible flora, organic minerals, storm crystals that weren’t accessible at the moment since there wasn’t a storm, and settlements owned by other players. While thinking about a plan to escape this hell, I opened my tasks. I realized that for certain tasks, you can get care packages to continue progressing. One of these tasks asked me to install an advanced mining tool. If I was able to do that, I would be able to get a refinery in the care package. I quickly installed that on my multi-tool. But guess what? I needed copper to fully install it. That was an issue for this planet. There was no copper, only magnetized ferrite, uranium, and activated copper. When I checked what the first planet had to offer, of course, it had copper. I was mad, but I already had a plan to leave this place at once. While scouting around, I noticed a few settlements on the planet. That would come in handy since all settlements have teleporters to get back to the planet where I regained consciousness. The only issue was I didn't have sodium or oxygen, which I critically needed to survive. While trying to install the advanced mining tool, I realized I had a scanner and a terrain-modifying tool. That would come in handy as well. I scanned the area around the 1x1 shelter for any sodium and oxygen flowers. Bingo! More than a few—hundreds. I spent a few minutes running around, gathering sodium and oxygen. When my radiation protection got low, I ran back to the shelter to avoid wasting any sodium. When I was ready, I began my journey on foot. The nearest settlement was 4-5 hours away. I was determined to survive. I ran and picked up every flower and supply I needed along the way. It didn’t take long before I found myself in a planetary storm. And not just one—there were hurricanes and extreme radiation at the same time! I was lucky to be right in front of a shelter left by a Korvax scientist. While waiting for the storm to pass, I learned a Korvax word and got some nanites, including two encrypted data units. When the storm passed, I resumed exploring. Next time, I promised myself I would try to brave the storm. So I did. After just two storms, I realized bad weather approached approximately every 15 to 20 minutes. So I needed to travel quickly. After 30 minutes of traveling, I had over 1000 sodium. I was confident that storms wouldn’t be an issue anymore. But when the storm approached, I was caught by the first tornado that formed right next to me. It sent me flying hundreds of meters. I didn’t panic. I saved my jetpack fuel and, when it tossed me all the way up, I slowly descended back to the ground. I dug a hole and waited a few minutes for the storm to pass. It was dangerous as hell to travel during a storm. After a few hours of battling storms, I scavenged for eggs, sold goodies like storm crystals and artifacts to trade terminals, and eventually, I died. That’s right. I was pulled out of a cave in the middle of nowhere by a tornado. I panicked and used up my fuel. When I woke up, I was next to the trading terminal. It would take me 51 minutes to recover my corpse. Well, what choice did I have? None. I had to go for it. After a solid hour and ten minutes, I reached my corpse, collecting storm crystals, ancient data structures, and radon from bio plants along the way. Just a few meters further, I realized it was the ocean part of my travel now. What did this mean for me? There was slightly higher radiation in the water, but that was fine. I already had over 2000 sodium. But what about oxygen? I had around 400. Mathematically, I wouldn’t be able to cross the ocean if it took more than 30 minutes to swim. I risked it. I ran out of life support really fast. I swam and swam. When I had only 60 oxygen left, I spotted land! I was saved! Finally, I would be able to get some oxygen. As a trophy, I took a shiny Hadal Core from an underwater structure. Then something snapped at me. My health was down to 40%. It was an angler fish! I fell for the oldest trick in the book—a shiny piece of light underwater. I got so scared I even forgot I had a gun with around 1200 bullets. I just swam to the piece of land in front of me. I waited for the fish to swim away. I didn’t want to harm any local fauna. I just wanted to leave this hellish place. After exiting the ocean, I was just an hour away from the settlement. My inventory was full. I couldn’t waste a single minute, but I couldn’t find any oxygen. So I just ran and hid from storms, especially since my last save was over an hour and thirty minutes ago. When I finally reached the place where the settlement was supposed to be, I wasn’t saved. I had traveled for six and a half hours for nothing. The settlement wasn’t there. It seemed like the settlers had never been there. I'm broken. Even though my sodium can keep me alive for a few more days, I don’t think I can make it anywhere. Most of the "promised" settlements are eight hours away. Thank you, monsalve4547, for being a beacon of hope.
