2024.05.16 04:30 HoneyBear4Lyfe PC plugged into eero suddenly blocks most sites for security or content reasons, no block if connected via wifi
I've had this eero mesh setup on starlink for a couple years now with no real issues. I've never set up any kind of content blocker, and suddenly today chrome and firefox started blocking almost every single website I tried to go to. On firefox I get "Firefox detected a potential security threat and did not continue to [url] because this website requires a secure connection..." with chrome, it's "Your connection is not private. Attackers might be trying to steal your information from [url] (for example, passwords, messages, or credit cards). NET::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID" On both chrome and firefox for certain sites I'm getting Cisco Umbrella "This site is blocked due to content filtering." I've never even heard of this content blocker before, let alone installed it. I tried unplug-rebooting my PC, dishy, and eeros. Tried swapping to a custom DNS and using google's 8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4. Cleared caches & cookies in browsers. Checked to make sure my PC actually knows what time it is. Plugged PC into multiple eeros. No dice. I did eventually work out that i can wirelessly connect to either my starlink router or an eero and the issue goes away, but I need a more stable & faster connection than that. What the heck is gong on here? Thought I knew how to troubleshoot some basic stuff but I guess I was wrong!

2024.05.15 20:53 sookfong A Week In Vancouver Island on a $92,000 Salary (Original Submission)
Please note this is the original submission I sent Refinery29. In the
current post, they have given me a second credit card with a 100$ balance, as well as generational trauma from World War II and cut context for other things. I am trying to get that fixed.
Per previous discussion in comments
here: The espresso machine is a Bezzera, which ranges from 2-5K. We got ours on sale for 1.7K, itâs a work house and we use it everyday, still hurts that we spent that money on a coffee maker.
I do understand mortgage is debt but when you compare it to rent to a lesser value condo in Vancouver it feels like not debt at all, which is how I tend to think of it. Yes I owe my mortgage but also I get my house instead of renting-which may not have become clear.
Please see in full the diary, below (edit for formatting via mobile)
Occupation: Sr Business Analyst
Industry: Tech
Age: 30
Location: Vancouver Island, BC
Salary: 92,000$ (Spouse makes 60,000$ for a combined income of 152,000$ before tax)
Net Worth: ~ 1.2 Million ( house is valued at 989,000$ currently, we have a combined 150,000 in pension, and ~60,000 in various company stocks, and GICs)
Debt: 3,000$ in a zero interest credit card for a 10 month period. We balanced transferred and pay 400$/month. Debt was acquired in Q4 2023 when we had to buy Snow Tires, and do a full break replacement as well as Christmas. 480,000$ in a mortgage, we refinanced in September 2023 for five years fixed rate at accelerated biweekly, however I donât consider our mortgage debt due to the equity we are gaining, and that our mortgage for a five bedroom, 3 bath single family home is less than rent for a two bedroom condo in Vancouver
Paycheck Amount (Every 2 Weeks): 2,555$ after taxes. (Just mine). Spouse makes 2,308$ after taxes. Our pay periods are alternating.
Pronouns: She/her
Monthly Expenses Mortgage: 1450$ biweekly (100$ extra to the principal).
Utilities: ~200$ (includes water [paid quarterly], hydro [paid bimonthly], gas, sewetrash [paid quarterly] phone [highly discounted due to work plans for spouse and myself] and car gas) Loan Payments: 400$/Credit Card
Car Insurance: 84$
Life Insurance: 167$ combined (67$ me, 100$ spouse)
Health & Dental Insurance: 60$ deducted from pay (coverage for myself and spouse from my employer. Spouse also has coverage for both of us deducted from pay)
Retirement Contribution: 400$ (Employee matches me), (Spouse has a defined pension through work and contributes ~200$ month)
Union fees: 70$ Spouse
Subscriptions: Crave 22$/month (Recent splurge for Binge watching the Rookie), Playstation Plus 100$ (annual bought on Black Friday Deal), Amazon Prime 80$ (Annual), BCAA 120$ (annual) Gym 30$/month (we both have one so 15$/pp)
Note: My spouse and I have completely commingled finances. I will be tracking both as itâs essentially I spent whatever they spent Was there an expectation for you to attend higher education? Did you participate in any form of higher education? If yes, how did you pay for it? There was always the expectation. My father was very clear, we were very smart. There was no way weâd be wasting our potential. He wanted me to be a lawyer, but unlike other immigrant parents, I got to choose my major and went into social sciences and got my masters in history. I deferred my PhD too much so I got dropped by the program.
I chose my university by where I got a full first year scholarship and then after that took about 15k in student loans for my undergraduate. My parents paid my rent and I got a part time job for food.
For my masters, I had a student line of credit and 5 k student loans otherwise it was all my savings and scholarships. With the line of credit, I had a total of 30K in student loans and paid it off in about four years.
Growing up, what kind of conversations did you have about money? Did your parent(s)/guardian(s) educate you about finances? Save. We talked about how you get a dollar allowance and half of it goes into long term saving with 25% in short term and 25% in spend.
Investing came after I was eighteen. Family would like us to invest in property, however I donât really want to be a landlord, but also we wouldnât get to really enjoy profit of owning a rental property due to other family circumstances.
What was your first job and why did you get it? Ice cream parlour I was twelve and my parents made me get it for responsibility. I lasted three weeks because I hated it.
Did you worry about money growing up? I grew up thinking we were not rich, because we didnât get big plane vacations (I didnât count flying from Toronto to Vancouver every summer as a vacation since we were just seeing family but staying in a house my parents owned) and I had only been to Disney twice.
But we had a big new build house in the rich end of town, my mom stayed home to raise all of us. We had to work for things (like going to see a movie opening night or a new CD) but we always had money and got what we wanted. In retrospect, my family was/is fairly well off.
Both my parents grew up poor, with parents working multiple jobs and different shifts to make ends meet, the strive/drive to not have that childhood, and for my father to be able to retire his parents really impacted mine and my siblings and cousins lives. My father showed me the apartment he grew up in Chinatown a few years back. Itâs light years away from the house my grandparents owned when I was a kid and how I grew up.
Do you worry about money now? Of course. Inflation is real and we are actively planning a wedding for the next year, as well as a baby in the next few years. We also need to buy a second car, so weâre saving for that.
At what age did you become financially responsible for yourself and do you have a financial safety net? Fully financially responsible? Twenty five. I lived in a family property where I didnât pay rent in one of the most expensive cities in Canada, so even though I paid all my bills (food and phone), I didnât have to pay rent. I in fact made money, as I rented rooms out and used the income for house utilities, and paying my student loans down faster. When I moved in with my spouse, I just paid condo fees until we bought our house two years ago which gave me plenty of time to save.
Our financial safety net is family, and our savings. I know my family would bail us out. My spouseâs father would as well. Conversely, we are my spouseâs mother's safety net and we have to keep all our plans in mind that we will be subsidising her.
Do you or have you ever received passive or inherited income? If yes, please explain. Yes, I received 50K from my parents once they sold my childhood home, as did both of my siblings. I have also received 10K from one set of grandparents which paid off my car and part of my student loans when I was 21. I will be receiving another inheritance when probate is done for around ~100K. My spouse also has received inheritance which allowed them to buy their first condo in their early twenties when the market was much better. That condo, 50k, and the subsequent upgrading helped us afford our house.
Day 1 10 AM: I drive to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription. Not how I want to start my Sunday morning but yâknow. Normally Iâd walk since itâs about 20 minutes but I have a UTI. Iâm âluckyâ that despite not having a dr because of the health care shortage, my work pays for the Maple app so I could get a dr to write the prescription and order the lab work at 1 am. Iâll do the lab work later this week when I can get an appointment but will take the relief now. Insurance makes the antibiotics free, but I also buy hydrogen peroxide because weâre out and we have a dog that thinks everything is meant to be in her mouth. Weâll buy a bigger one at Costco later. I also bought some oral wound mouthwash because we were out. I come home and my spouse made us breakfast.
Total: 15.90$ paid with debit.
1-2:30 PM: We do our taxes. I have a mini meltdown when I realize the part time bakery job I had for a few months didnât take off income tax last year, so I owe 800$. Luckily, my partner is getting a refund so we net out positive 400$. The bakery took off income tax in 2022, so unsure why they didnât in 2023. I made us lunch.
3-6:30 PM: We walk the dog, and watch the Rookie. Some time during that time period, a venue emails us back and is surprisingly affordable at 3k. I also get told that the tattoo artist I want to book with, has not chosen me.
6:30-7:30 PM: I explain what lazy girl dinner is to my spouse and make a lazy girl dinner. After not really grocery shopping since Feb for things besides fresh veg, we need to do a big pantry shop and neither of us want that. We debate about buying a food saver and if we should wait for a sale. My spouse is more frugal than me and has determined we should.
8-9:30 PM: We start season 3 of The Rookie, and then after two episodes we go to bed
Day One Total: 15.90$
Day Two 5:45-8 AM: Wake up and start work. I get up to date with whatâs happened on the weekend and check that my automated reports. Sometime before 6:30, I get the kettle on for my spouseâs pour over before I go back to my meetings. Thereâs a twenty minute gap where I get changed and do my skin care and brush my teeth. Iâd love to be a skin care person but honestly Iâve spent too much money on product that I donât use and that just goes bad. Washing my face and using sun screen is a win.
I also make sure that Spouseâs lunch is in his bag and I get our travel mugs ready. Before, we used to go to Starbucks every day. Starbucks used to do free refills on coffee and tea if you were a rewards member if you bought a coffee or tea so it would cost us $5/day (2.5/pp), and we could get refills all day. While thatâs 20$/week, 80$/a month and yes, we could have saved it but back then, that 80$ wasnât turning the dial anywhere significantly for usâa privileged view.
But now, after COVID where I stopped drinking tea after one day working from home having like 10 cups and thinking I was dying, and Spouse has bought a good grinder and we recently splurged on a stupidly expensive espresso machine we call his Engagement Espresso since it costs the same price as my stupidly expensive ring, we bring our coffees.
8-8:30 AM: We drive to work. Prior to buying our house, we were both work from home and lived in a city with amazing transit. We only needed the one car. Since buying the house and moving to a city where public transit is a joke (the one bus goes past our house every 1.5h), Spouse changed jobs and is in office every day and I have to go in 3 days a week. We need a second car or the e-bike rebate to come through. We debate this in the car, since Iâm done at 1 pm, and Spouse works normal hours, I either have to take the bus home, or go to the gym for three hours. Today though, I drop Spouse off. I will pick him up later as he has a half day because of the dentist
8:30-12:30 AM/PM: Work. I find a tech manager and ask them to get me more triple a batteries. Work wonât provide or let me expense batteries for my mouse, despite them replacing my usb mouse with a battery one. The poor admin had to tell me the decision is that weâll all supply our own batteries. Luckily the tech managers have to have batteries on hand and give them out freely.
I ask my boss how the work from home tax forms work, and he is going to find out.
I run more meetings and work on a request for a dashboard and a business case for a new feature that I have to convince leadership to spend money on.
12:30-1 PM: I drive back to my Spouse because he has a dentist appointment.
While I wait for a spouse, I am incredibly hungry. Iâm usually not hungry/donât eat a proper meal until around 1 in the afternoon and my two granola bars I already ate at the office. I go to the bakery by Spouseâs work and buy a cheese bun for me (3.65$), and an apple pie scone (2.55$) for Spouse as a snack. Spouse points out he wonât be able to eat until after his appointment.
Total: 6.20$ debit
1-1:30 PM: I drop Spouse off, and the car stops working. The engine wonât catch. I try multiple times and then run into the dentist to dramatically announce to Spouse and the receptionists that the car wonât start. Spouse asks me what he wants me to do about this, since heâs about to go into an appointment. A very kind receptionist tells me it might be the alternator. I donât know what that is.
I go back to the car to Facetime my father. He also asks what I think he can do to help since he lives 3000 km away. Weirdly, and sexistly, I thought a man who grew up at race tracks, in a racing family, or the man who has collected and worked on sports cars for forty years might be able to help.
Spouse texts me to remind me we have BCAA while my father also tells me that. I finally get the engine to catch and drive the very long way home, going the speed limit and getting stuck in traffic, construction and a bus. It takes me 20 minutes to get home instead of 10.
1:30-2:30 PM: I walk the dog, mail a (late) birthday card and then start researching what an alternator is. The car is over a decade old and until the house, the most expensive thing I ever bought at 12K back in 2015. We have the funds for the cost, but itâs my first car and the fact it might be the end of its life is scary.
Alternators can cost between 400-800$ repair with labour, so thatâs fun.
My dad calls me back and apologises for asking me what he could do away. He advises me that thereâs probably a bald spot on the alternator and advises me to go to the mechanic to check or replace it, if the car doesnât start again.
I call the mechanic to book an appointment, and to also get the snow tires off and to buy new rims for the snow tires. The mechanic lets me know that the alternator part is 500$, and an hour of labour so with taxes weâre looking at around 700$
That future appointment next week (weâre going down a highway this weekend which requires snow tires) will cost ~1.5K, assuming we replace the alternator.
I make lunch and sigh.
2:30 PM: The car starts thankfully. I drive incredibly slow. I pick up Spouse by idling the car. We get an email back from a venue saying they cost 75,000$ minimum. The timing is hysterical.
Due to the nature of the dentist, Spouse owes 618$, as they havenât flipped it under my insurance. They split it in half, as he has a follow up in two weeks. After the next appointment they will flip the whole amount under me and weâll get reimbursed for the whole amount.
Total 309$/credit card.
3-10 PM: We walk the dog, make dinner (Spouse makes white sauce pasta, with chicken and peas) and watch The Rookie. There are thirteen episodes in season three, and we will be busy every night this week besides Friday and Sunday, and I would like to finish season three so we can start season 4 next Monday. I donât want to pay for more than one month of Crave. We have five episodes left
Day Two Total: 315.2$
Day Three 1 AM: 100$ is automatically transferred from our account to the credit card debit. We have an auto transfer of 100$/every Tuesday to a Visa where we balance transferred both our cards. We have an offer for 0 interest for 10 months, so we did that for some of the bigger expenses (snow tires, break replacement and general Christmas) and are on track to pay it back within the next 6 months. That visa is our emergency card that we just have in the back end and utilise for promos like this. It allows us to keep our two cards balances manageable and lets us pay in an easier way than taking big chunks out of our various savings.
Total: 100$/direct deposit
5:45-9 AM: Work. Meetings, reports, trying to convince a colleague that the process does include them and refusal to follow it means that their requests wonât be done. Spouse has another half day so I can go into the office at my leisureâif the car starts
9-9:20 AM: The car starts, I get into the office and refresh a data flow before a meeting with a new stake holder. It takes longer to drive into work today because the tourists are starting to come and their van builds or campers are not exactly highway speed and with a two lane highway, if you donât merge over fast enough youâre stuck.
10:05-10:20 AM: Meeting done, car starts again and I drive home for more meetings. The least amount of time in the office is preferable for me.
10:30-11AM : Meeting with my manager where we discuss future salary and promotion. I am due for a promotion in the start of Q2, which would push me to six figures. Iâll believe it when I see it but, Iâm really excited at that possibility for my family.
11:15 AM: Spouse leaves for work, we discuss what groceries are needed, as well if heâll go to Home Depot tonight to buy more clover seeds for the yard, as we need to reseed before it starts raining. I eat a muffin and my dog and cat decide to try and eat each other.
11:15-1:30 PM: Work runs late. Thereâs some issues with the data and we canât figure it out. We call it a night, and Iâll record the video presentations tomorrow, once we fix the data.
1:30-4 PM: Nap time! Itâs bad for me, but honestly I donât sleep well during the night so naps are what keep me alive.
4-6 PM I prep dinner (smash burgers and fries), and get chores done and walk the dog.
6-7:30 PM: Spouse comes home, we eat dinner. Groceries come to 96.83 for two 7 pound pork loins, two packs of bacon, chicken nuggets, coffee, pop, 8 pack of peppers, milk, tomato, pickles, rice, avocado, mushrooms, sour cream and lettuce.
Not too bad, we average about 300$/month in groceries because we can buy bulk and have a second freezer.
For the month of March we are currently at 123.61$ for groceries and there is twelve days left. We went on a small weekend away, so we ate out a fair bit but even then our current food budget is 272.27$ today.
Total: 96.83/ debit
7:30-10 PM: Spouse makes a coffee and plays video games with his friends. They do it every week. I have a shower, fold and put away laundry and read in bed.
Day Three Total: 196.83
Day Four 1AM: Our biweekly accelerated mortgage payment comes out of 1450$. Iâm tracking it here to be honest on our spending but I tend not to think of it as money spent because in my head itâs already money gone. To pay for a house equivalent in Vancouver, the mortgage would be over 6k. Renting a two bedroom condo would be 3K. It feels like the mortgage is just cheaper rent, even though each time I own more of my house.
5:45-9 AM: Work. I find out the limits of how many people I can invite to a Teams Meeting as well as that the Thursday before Good Friday is a catholic holiday when a few people ask me to reschedule a training forum for over a thousand people. Sometime in there I make us coffee, make sure Spouse has lunch packed (leftovers). Spouse has walked the dog and has the recycling and compost out for pick up. I drop Spouse off at work.
10-11:45 AM: I leave the office for home and more meetings. I walk the dog and go record training videos. I get an email that Amazon is doing their big spring sale. I send a link to a robot mop and vaccum thatâs on a big discount to Spouse. We want one, but Iâm not in charge of the research on it. I send links to play grounds to my friends with toddlers
11:45-12:30 PM : I shove lunch in my mouth, last nightâs left overs. Iâm running late, and decide to get myself later by collecting all the random dishes and mugs that just show up places and start the dishwasher. I get to the lab ten minutes early but need to buy gas on the way home.
I tell my team Iâll be MIA for a bit and leave the work phone in the car.
I buy 15.6L of gas for 30$ at 1.879/l it sucks. I donât fill up because weâre going to my in laws this weekend and thereâs a Costco Gas Bar there.
Total: 30$/credit card
12:30-1:30 PM: Work goes long again.
1:30-2:30 PM: Nap!
2:30-4:30 PM: Walk the dog and drive to the gym. I usually go three times a week but with last weekâs weekend away and this weekâs weird half days from Spouse, todayâs the only day. I make it up by doing both upper and lower body and a 30 minute circuit.
4:30-7:30 PM: I pick up Spouse and we go to Costco. We pick up nachos, ham, cheese buns and some other items. We debate buying our friendâs kid a toddler set of clothes and decide no. We end up buying work pants for Spouse, and a garden hose. It comes out to 116.90
I order our Costco dinner of hot dogs and fries for a grand total date night of 6.41$
Total: 123.31/ credit card
8-9 PM: Dance class! We bought a series of six lessons of introduction to ballroom back in December for a new date night idea. We paid 60$/pp and this is the fifth lesson tonight.
9 pm: Weâre home, we let the dog out. Spouse spends an undetermined amount of time watching ballroom videos while I sleep.
Day Four Total: 1603.31$ or 153.31 excluding the mortgage payment.
Day Five 5:45-9 AM: Work. All the meetings. Thursday is the meeting day. I debate with a friend whatâs the earliest call weâve had. 4:30 am still wins. I pack lunch for Spouse and his coffee and he leaves. I end up cleaning up cat puke as the cat decides to drink milk from Spouseâs cereal and vomit it up on camera in a meeting.
9-9:30 AM: I make myself a matcha and walk the dog.
9:30-1 PM: Work and I treat myself to a lunch of a cheese bun and ham sandwhich. We used to eat it every Sunday while growing up but the cost of ham has been outrageous. The deal at Costco yesterday was 1.5$/100 g which is really good.
1-1:30 PM: I seal the wooden deer Christmas decoration we bought last year. It sits outside our front door and needs to be weather proofed, and Iâve been putting it off for five months. But the weather is good and we have newspapers. We have left over wood sealer after the sign we bought a year ago so I use that. The dog and the cat both donât like my wooden deer.
1:30-4 PM: Nap!
4-5 PM: I basically just watch youtube and drink a root beer. I have no energy.
5-6:30 PM: Spouse comes home, we walk the dog and I make dinner (Kraft Dinner and nuggetsâI swear we eat veggies but today is not that day). We discuss the possibility of our dog at our wedding as a flower girl, and if sheâll be in a tutu or a cheongsam like me. I am now researching if they make dog cheongsams and if she can match us. The cat, despite all my heart wanting it, wonât physically be there because he will have an anxiety attack and probably die.
6:30-10:30 PM: Board game night! We go to a friendâs to repeat the same scenario weâve lost two weeks in a row.
10:30-11 PM: I pack Spouseâs breakfast (oatmeal and frozen berries), lunch (spicy tuna and mayo) since heâs trying to go to the gym before work, and feed the animals before we go to bed.
Day Five Total: 0$
Day Six Friday 5:45-9 AM: Work. I have a deep focus block which means I can get the script for the training I have to run. Public speaking is not my strong suit and itâs a group of a thousand people so Iâm not looking forward to it. Spouse almost makes it to the gym. I get an email that my new work phone has shipped. Iâm surprised because they wouldnât order us any for the past four years, but I guess my new iPhone will show up next week. I might give my old work phone to my mother in law, since she smashed the camera on the phone we bought her last year.
9-9:30 AM: I walk the dog, make a matcha and make a todo list for what we have to get done before we leave to my in laws tomorrow. I text my mother in law happy birthday, and hope that she got the card in time. She did.
9:30-11:30 AM: My last meeting for the week ends and Iâm debating calling it a day so I can nap. Instead I make lunch (cheese bun and ham), text my other mother in law our plan for Saturday, and unload and reload the dishwasher and go back to work for at least another hour.
12:30-1 PM: I shower and do skin care
1-3 PM: Nap! Somewhere in this time FedEx comes and since Iâm sleeping, we have to pick up on Monday. Iâm not too sure what it is, I assume itâs our custom address stamp from Etsy because thatâs the only thing Iâve bought recently but not too sure. I just realized in retrospect, this might be my new work phone.
3-5 PM: I prep dinner (nachos), unload the dishwasher, pack my overnight bag and confirm all our venue tours by email. I start a load of laundry and do a quick clean. I feel like this is not the best image of our diet. I swear we generally eat healthy but we both have been feeling really blah over the past two weeks so have been going for quick and easy over healthy and balanced. I do have three whole peppers and two whole avocados in the nachos though.
5-7 PM: Spouse comes home, we walk the dog, have dinner, and plan out next week. We have a big Wednesday next week (mechanic, I have a nails appointment, dance class), and we are having our friends over for Easter so we need to prep for that. We pack the car so tomorrow is a very easy start.
Spouse also gets paid today. Weâre lucky that weâre on alternating pay periods, we used to be on the same and it always felt stressful. Spouse also lets me know his union has secured a 3% cost of living raise to start in Q3. I really like his union for negotiating a base 2% year of cost of living raise, with potential addition raises depending on inflation. Itâs a bit away but thatâs still good news.
7:30-10:30 PM: We finish The Rookie Season 3 and head to bed. Crave reminds me that I have 10 days until Iâm charged again. Sadly, I think weâll have to pay for 2 months.
Day Six Total: 0
Day Seven Saturday 8:30-9:30 AM: Wake up. No one (except the dog) slept well so weâre not in a morning mood. Spouse makes coffee and walks the dog, while I finish packing the car and give the cat a lot of attention. Our first venue tour is at 11 and the one that is the most expensive (8-10K), but also the one we probably want the most. We live about an hour away but the highway is two lanes and one accident can back everything up for hours.
10:40-1 PM: We visit our dream venue. We stay way longer than expected. Basically if the quote is under 10K, weâll get it. Just waiting now.
1-2 PM: We get to our in-laws and have a lunch of egg salad sandwhichs. We need to buy gas. My in laws drive us to a pottery painting store.
2-4 PM: We paint pottery. My mother in law only wanted to do this for her birthday. Theyâll pick it up in a week after itâs been thrown. I paint a vase (28$), Spouse paints an Easter egg (18$), father in law paints a mug (30$), and mother in law paints a plate (50$)
Total:143.36/credit card
4-5 Pm: We see another venue. Itâs an instant no. My in laws decide they want to try Korean fried chicken. We call ahead for take out to get two fries and 16 pieces of half and half. It comes to 50.83$ that my in laws pay for.
5-10 PM: We come back and see that our dog has pooped in their house and also has gotten into their pantry and eaten an entire bag of dog food. It is not a fun night.
We spend the night drinking wine and discussing the wedding and watching TV.
10PM: We go to bed. Thatâs the end of this week, but tomorrow we will be buying gas and probably lunch for my other mother in law as we will be touring another venue.
Day Seven Total: 143.36$

2024.05.15 19:44 2DMOOON PC wonât post after switching to cpu default profile from overclock profile on amd adrenalin app
| Hi! I really need some help! Two days ago I got a sapphire pure 7900gre paired with my 7800x3d and everything works as intended. Itâs my first amd gpu and I got great temps and cpu etc. It works so flawlessly and no issues whatsoever. After two days I just noticed that my google chrome started lagging badly with delays, so I tried checking on amd adrenalin app and I noticed that on the cpu tab, my cpu was on âoverclockâ profile instead of default. I never turned it on and I think it automatically put my cpu to overclock mode when I installed the aamd drenalin app. I already oc/uv my 7800x3d before and Iâm very satisfied with its performance and stability, so I thought maybe the app auto enabled the cpu overclock on the app and bypasses or messes with my initial manual bios oc and I donât want that. So I clicked on cpu âdefaultâ on the adrenalin app instead of the âoverclockâ profile itâs in and it prompted to restart. After i click confirm, it restarted my pc and after that, my screen just stays black. There is no blinking or solid lights on my mobo. I tried entering bios but it wonât open it when I turn on my pc and click del key multiple times. Hope someone can help me as Iâm new to pc building and I saved up for this system.

Frances and company catch up before the final battle. ***
âHold on. How would he win this battle if we outnumber him and surround him?â Ginger asked.
âHe could target our leadership. Focus on killing Titania, Antigones, you and Martin,â said Ayax.
âOnly, heâd have to kill Sebastian and Megara, as well as Edana and you too, Frances, along with a whole list of targets. Iâm not sure how he could pull that off,â said Elizabeth.
Ayax grimaced, brow furrowed, but Frances knew the answer to that question.
âThorgoth doesnât need to find half the targets heâs after. Myself, mom, Titania, our strongest mages and the rest of the people that will be on his list have leadership positions. Like it or not weâll be involved in the battle and he just needs to find us on the battlefield. A well-placed spell and heâd snuff any non-magic person out,â Frances said.
âSo what do we do then?â Martin asked.
Francesâ heart was pounding, for she knew the answer, but was afraid to give it life. Yet what could she do but tell what she knew was the truth?
âTake the battle to him. Thorgoth will have to operate by himself with maybe just his Royal Guards. We need to hold him and his escort and defeat him before he hurts everybody else.â
âSo, all the Otherworlders, our best mages?â Ayax asked.
âNot all of them. But my mother and I, Jessica and Leila, Dwynalina and Jim and Nicole, with a few Otherworlders holding off his guards,â said Frances.
Elizabeth pursed her lips. âAyax and I can go after Queen Berengaria. I canât imagine her going far from her husband.â
âThis is assuming we can at least split the attention of the dragons and keep them occupied of course,â said Martin. He touched Gingerâs elbow. âNot that I donât trust you dear.â
âOh I know, but it is a consideration.â She swirled the wine in her cup. âThat means Martin and I will be directing the battle with Sebastian and Alexander.â
âItâs likely youâll be the overall commander with Martin. Alexander and Sebastian would then take charge of their own contingents,â said Elizabeth. She bit her lip. âDo you feel up for it?â
Ginger shrugged. âI mean, we have toââ
Elizabeth reached out to pat her friendâs shoulder. âMartin, Ginger, you know we have every faith in both of you, but if you need help, there is no shame in asking for it.â
âBesides I think weâre all scared. I know I am,â Ayax said with a smile. Even so, they could all see how her tail looked like it was trying to twist itself into knots. Frances figured her cousin wasnât trying to hide her fear, just trying not to alarm or panic them.
Martin sighed. âI think thatâs the problem, Liz. Duty compels us. Love binds us. So I know no matter what happens, I know weâll stand together to face him. Still, we are afraid and while I know I wonât run, I worry that fear may cloud my judgment at a crucial moment.â
Ginger wiped her eyes, but her tears now flowed freely down her cheeks. âHow do I know I wonât panic, and make a bad call? How do we know we are all coming back? We canât. IâŠI guess we have to accept that, but I donât want to lose you. Any of you.â
Drawing her friend into a tight hug, Elizabeth gently patted Gingerâs back. âI donât either. I suppose that for me, Iâve always looked to my faith in God, and in you all. Have we not triumphed in all weâve faced?ââ
Frances found herself nodding, her throat unclenching and the tight nervousness in her shoulders and neck fading. What remained was a faint feeling of lightness that lifted her chin.
âYouâre right. We should believe in ourselves, and hope. Hope for a future when we win this war. Hope that our good will triumph over Thorgothâs evil. Hope that in a few days, weâll be home with our family, and our friends.â
Martin gave Frances a wondering look. âHow are you able to hope that?â
Frances smiled. âI think that I have always been good at having hope. I didnât realize it until now, but even in my darkest moments, I always hoped that I would find a place where I could be me.â
Ayax stood up, raising her glass. âTo faith, friendship and hope. May it see us all through our final trial.â
Rising to their feet, the five touched glasses and drank deep. They all were smiling. The pain and fear in their hearts soothed by the hope they held and the determination to see each other once again.
***
âFrances, can I walk with you?â
Frances would never have said no to her best friend, and she could tell that past Elizabethâs bright smile, her friend was worried. There were just too many small signs learnt from years of friendship. She was scratching behind her ear, and her eyes were narrowed just slightly from the tension in her face.
âOf course,â said Frances, falling in beside the tall Otherworlder. âHow are you and Ayax?â
Elizabeth giggled. âWeâre great! Fantastic even. She and I are even talking about what we might do after the war. We have so many plans and well, I kind of wanted to talk to you about that.â
Frances waited as Elizabeth continued to walk beside her, lips pursed.
âI know that after the war, Iâm choosing to stay here with Ayax, with all of you. I justâŠâ her voice trailed off, and her walk slowed to a crawl.
Taking a slight breath, Frances touched her friendâs hand. âLiz, you know itâs okay for you to doubt that.â
Elizabeth stopped and shook her head. âOh no, I donât have any doubts about my decision. At the very least, Iâm past the point where my doubts arenât going to change my decision. I know Iâve changed too much in the past seven years. Iâve come to terms with my sexuality. Iâve fallen head over heels in love with a woman who loves me just as much. Iâve commanded armies, led soldiers into battle and helped to make decisions affecting hundreds of thousands of people. I canât go back pretending Iâm Grade 8 and neither do I want to.â She squeezed Francesâs hand. âMy decision is the right one. I know it in my heart and Iâve prayed about it. I can do a lot of good here and me going back? That wonât just hurt the people I love here, but itâll hurt me and my family at home. I canât hide who Iâve become and Iâm proud of what Iâve grown into.â
Frances closely studied her friend knowing Elizabeth wouldnât mind her staring.
âSo what are you feeling, Liz?â
Closing her eyes, Elizabeth sniffled. âGuilt. Itâs stupid. I know Iâm making the right choice. Iâm sure in my heart that God is encouraging me to make this choice, but I still feel guilty.â
âHow could you not? You know your family loves you.â
âAnd Iâm abandoning them. I know Iâm doing the right thing but I still feel like Iâm doing something wrong,â said the Otherworlder.
Frances hugged her best friend, squeezing her tight, hoping that her warmth and touch could comfort the woman who sheâd trusted as much as her own mother.
âLiz, if they are everything you told me, theyâre going to be alright. Have faith in them, like your faith in me and your friends.â
Elizabeth let out a sigh, but returned the hug. âThank you, Frances. IfâŠif the worst comes and you are sent back without me, go to them. Tell them I love them.â
Tears in her eyes, Frances nodded. âI promise. If you are sent back, I will take care of Ayax.â
Elizabeth let out a gurgly hiccup. âThank you. I know you will.â

The historic coronation of King Martin and Queen Ginger would found what would be known as the Congrey dynasty. Con for Conthwaite and Grey for King Jeromeâs dynasty.
It was an unusual coronation as King Martin and Queen Ginger were long-betrothed but not married. Yet King Jerome and Queen Forowenaâs wills had been clear. Apart from that, the coronation involved as many of Eridale's traditions as possible in light of the circumstances.
Down the parade route attended by all those that could be mustered, King and Queen marched in at the head of an honor guard composed of their closest companions. These included Frances, Elizabeth, and Ayax, who held three poles of a crimson banner that hung over the pair. The fourth corner was held by Martinâs sister Mara, who wore a slightly undignified grin. Yet, nobody could really blame her.
Martin wore a black-white checkered tunic with red-gold trimmings and shoulder epaulets. His trousers were dark gray with again red-gold tassels. Ginger did wear a dress. It was of a dark maroon with silver lacing. A bejeweled gorget studded with emeralds hung from her neck and her ears sparkled with dark blue sapphires.
There was one minor alteration. As the procession marched up to the entrance of the old Goblin Empire palace, on a raised wooden dais dressed with elaborately embroidered carpets stood the attending dignitaries. They included all the other Erisdalian lords and ladies such as Viscountess Katia and Lord Tarquin, dressed in all the finery they could muster. Other notables such as Prince Timur, representing the Kingdom of Alavaria, Grandmaster Edana of the White Order and Alexander and Eloise of Erlenberg stood proudly side by side.
Towards the center of the dais were three figures. King Sebastian and Queen-Consort Megara, and the former Queen Janize. Sebastian and Megara were standing, holding Queen Forowenaâs crown, whilst the heavily pregnant Janize sat, holding King Jeromeâs crown. Thorgoth may have taken their decorated helmets, but he did not have their ceremonial attire.
Martin and Ginger stepped out from under the awning, giving their bearers a brief nod, before taking the last steps up the dais.
Whistling a spell, Megara touched her throat with her wand. âWho stands before the crowns?â
Martin knelt to one knee. The bearers of the awning followed. âSir Martin of Conthwaite. A Knight of Erisdale.â
Ginger curtsied low. Frances nearly split her lips as she grinned at her friendâs perfect form. âGinger. Just Ginger of Erisdale.â
Janizeâs expression was unreadable as she rose to her feet. There was a slight archness to her features, and yet that could just be how she lifted her haughty cheeks.
âAs witnessed by all, and by the King and Queen of Lapanteria, do you swear to defend Erisdale with all means at your disposal including force of arms?â
âWe do.â
âDo you swear to uphold the laws of the land and the rights of Erisdaleâs citizens?â
âWe do!â
âDo you swear that until your dying breaths, to govern and reign over Erisdale not for your benefit, but for the benefit of the people and for their future generations?â
From her kneeling position, Frances frowned. That wasnât quite the right oath. The wording was âDo you swear to govern over Erisdale wisely and justly?â She supposed that she might have missed it, or maybe there was a variation.
Yet as she noted her fianceâs face, she noticed his eyes were wide and her motherâs eyebrow was arched.
Not skipping a beat, Martin and Ginger bellowed. âWe do!â
âDo you swear that you will do your utmost not to make the same mistakes as your predecessors and do whatever it takes to preserve Erisdaleâs peace, even if it may cost you your lives?â
Frances blinked. Janize had gone completely off script. There was no fourth oath.
However, Martin and Ginger only hesitated for a moment as they exchanged a glance and looked up to meet Janizeâs gaze.
The blonde womanâs eyes were bright and the hands holding Jeromeâs crown were trembling ever so slightly. Frances had wondered why sheâd insisted on doing this. Martin and Ginger had wanted to approach her to ask if she was willing, but the enigmatic former queen had surprised them by demanding they allow her to crown them. She now had an idea as to why.
âWe do,â said Martin, smiling.
Ginger returned that smile. Blinking back her own tears, she took a breath. âIn the name of Queen-consort Forowena and your brother, King Jerome. We solemnly swear.â
Janize closed her eyes, a single tear running down her cheek.
âThen as the last heiress of House Grey, I pass the crown of Erisdale on forever. Long live the Congrey dynasty. Long live Martin the Hero of Erisdale and his queen to be Ginger, whom I dub Erisdaleâs Burning Heart.â
Lifting Jeromeâs crown high, she set it onto Martinâs head. Swiftly taking Queen Forowenaâs crown from Sebastian, she set it on Gingerâs head.
âHail King Martin and Queen Ginger!â Janize bellowed as Martin and Ginger rose to their feet.
The crowd chanted back, their voices filling the great cavern. âHail King Martin and Queen Ginger! Hail King Martin and Queen Ginger!â Frances could barely hear her own voice over the crescendo. The call that they all raised. Like the sound carried up into the void, she could feel herself be carried up. It was like she was floating on the power of their united song.
Turning around, Martin and Ginger smiled at Frances. Their eyes were wide, and she could see them clasp each otherâs hands tightly.
Frances found herself standing on her feet, the pole to her awning in her hand. Without a second thought, she stabbed the poleâs spike into the ground. As her hand dropped to Alanna, she paused for a moment before her mind caught up with her body, and she nodded as if to herself.
Drawing the estoc, Frances raised her blade high, saluting her two friends.
âLong may they reign! Long may they reign!â
Elizabeth was right behind her, hammer raised high. Ayax followed suit with her staff and Mara and the rest were soon drawing their weapons. From the corner of her eye, Frances even spotted Morgan and Hattie raising their wand and staff.
âLong may they reign! Long may they reign!â
***
Helias glanced over his shoulder toward the accursed city. Despite the distance, there was a tremble in the air of Kairoun-Aoun itself.
âHelias?â Sara asked.
âSounds like they crowned Martin and Ginger. Theyâre going to attack soon,â he said.
Sara nodded, her tense jaw the only sign of the worry that had seized the harpy-orc. As gently as he could manage with his rough, scarred hands, he wrapped his arm around her waist.
âSara. Weâre going to be fine.â
âYouâre lying,â she said with eyes fixed forward.
The general couldnât help but wince. âSorry.â
Slowing in her stride, Sara placed a hand over Heliasâs. âI still appreciate you trying to comfort me but I would prefer you to tell me the truth. How bad is it?â
Helias looked around. âThorgoth may pull off a miracle and get himself and Berengaria out. However, a lot of Alavari are going to die.â
âWhat are you going to do?â Sara asked.
âIâll have to attend this meeting and see what Thorgoth is planning. Weâll make a plan after that.â
âYou and I know itâs not going to change anything,â Sara said, looking up at her husband, who could not meet her gaze. Yet, she didnât push him away. Instead put her hand around his waist, drawing him closer.
âI know, but I want to be sure,â said Helias in a low tone.
âI understand. See you soon,â said Sara.
***
Helias found himself exchanging side-long glances with Glowron. The pair sat, both leaning forward toward King Thorgoth and a pacing Queen Berengaria, whoâd finished explaining tomorrowâs strategy.
âDo you have anything else to add, my good generals?â Thorgoth asked. The king still smiled easily as he swirled a cup of wine in his hands.
Glowron shook his head. His tone was short but he kept this expression neutral. âNo sire.â
The goblin general was Heliasâs superior in rank and social class. The fact of the matter was that if Glowron had no objections, then there was no way the tauroll could object.
And still, Helias felt bile rise in the back of his throat. He froze, ever so briefly. Closing his eyes, he shook his head. Nothing mattered, except for Sara and Gwendilia.
âNo sir. Iâll have my troops ready for tomorrow.â
That should have been that. They would have been dismissed to prepare for tomorrowâs suicide mission, but the kingâs whims had other plans.
King Thorgoth put his cup down and leaned forward. âOh come on my good generals. Surely you have something to improve on this plan.â
Glowronâs expression remained blank, whilst Helias smiled. âYour Majesty, you were the one who taught me everything I know. I can think of nothing I can add to your strategy.â
Queen Berengaria strode toward him. âYouâre usually so talkative, Helias. Are you sure you have no other thoughts?â
âI beg your apologies, but I do not have any further additions to your plan, Your Majesty. My lord Glowron?â Helias asked.
âI do not either, my liegeââ Glowron fell silent and Heliasâs tail stiffened.
Thorgoth and Berengaria were no longer smiling and with a few more steps, the harpy queen had put herself behind the two generals.
âLet me be plain, we are now not asking you about how to improve the plan. We are asking for your thoughts. Give them.â
The Demon Kingâs remaining dark eye was narrowed. The other was now covered with a black silk eyepatch, the remains of the scar that Queen Forowen had given him, a discoloration scouring a line along the side of his face and right over his ear. In spite of the kingâs injury, Helias felt nothing but cold dread dry his mouth.
âYour Majesty, my only thought is that we have no option but to follow your plan. No matter how we got into this situation, the only thing we can do is go forward and try to win this day,â Glowron said.
âAnd do you blame me, Glowron?â
Helias watched, eyes wide as somehow the much smaller goblin general continued to meet the kingâs eyes. âI would be lying to you if I said I didnât assign some responsibility to you at all, but I believe we ought to have thought of the possibility of such a trap. So the responsibility is mine as well.â
Thorgoth nodded. Out of the corner of his eye, Helias saw the slightest of nods that Berengaria gave to her husband. Alarm shooting his gaze back toward the Demon King, Helias found the full attention of his sovereign and sometimes uncle directed right at him.
âAnd you, General Helias?â
Lie and he might not be able to make it convincing enough. Tell the truth about what he thought about this war and he was never seeing Sara and Gwendilia again. Thorgoth hadnât just been hurt, his pride had been wounded and he was now backed into a corner. It would be unwise to anger him, but what to say? What could he say?
All he could think of, and see was his child and her adoring gaze. All he could feel was the touch of Saraâs hand against his. Theyâd become closer than he could have imagined and were more than just companions with mutual goals now.
If he was to die, then maybe he could tell this truth.
âI am mostly thinking of my wife and my child, my king. The coming battle has me greatly concerned with how dangerous it shall be.â
Thorgoth narrowed his eyes at Helias for a brief moment. The tauroll, staying very still, waited for the presumed reaction by Berengaria.
Whatever Berengaria did made Thorgoth arch an eyebrow.
âI thought you didnât consider your wife to be worth much,â said the king in a mild tone.
His mind racing, Helias ran with the idea. âShe has responded well to the constraints and discipline Iâve enforced on her. She does nothing but facilitate all my needs and has served me well.â
He could feel Berengariaâs eyes narrow, but Thorgoth was already leaning back onto his chair. âGood for you. You are dismissed.â
âThank you, sire,â said Helias, almost unable to hide his sigh of relief.

Authorâs Note: While I wish I could have spent more quality time with Martin, Elizabeth, Ginger and Ayax, I do love the best-friend/team that I created for Frances. This chapter and the last was my little way of giving each of them a bit of time with Frances before the final battle.

2024.05.15 03:08 ForestHasEyes Polish GROM has been fighting a secret war for decades, our enemies aren't human [Part 3]
Blachowicz here.
Kept yahâ waiting, huh? Heh, sorry about that one, but I can explain. As we all know⊠we lost a few good men the last few months.
Thatâs the brutal part of a hybrid war like ours: Weâre fighting a foe unconventional, with half our arsenal tied down because those who grant us authorization are either in disbelief of the true facts, or scared⊠or already assimilated. That being said our momentum recently was a change not seen in years, and because of that⊠despite the losses we have garnered, we were close through a breakthrough. One last night Krol pulls myself and other two must trusted squad leads into the back of our COP. There is one of our equipment cages, surrounded by m-bitter radios, tripods, and several hundred thousand dollars of equipment he brought us around a simple worn table. Before us he laid a map of eastern poland⊠red markings indicating cells that seemed to dot the countryside like a pestilence, or used to⊠as deep gashes of advance from raids had trisected their lines, even if ones did pop up in the interior.
It was a back and forth; an outside virus infecting Polska at itâs heart, and we were the antibodies sent to drive them out. To which⊠Major Krol points to one of the largest symbol on the map: a dark red diamond, the NATO symbol for an enemy unit, deep inside of an untouched wooded area, adjacent to a mountain ridge. Several jagged lines indicated entrenchment, with red horizontal lines indicating possible enemy control⊠or our contested control, for over 20kms surrounding it. Letting us all look, the Major lit himself a cigarette.
âSir, you sure itâs wise to smoke in here with the dive tanks just behind usâ 1st Squadâs lead quipped. âFuck offâ Krol dryly said.
âAlright⊠this is it⊠this is the one weâve been searching for for years, this is the nucleus my predecessor commander died trying to findâ he says, pointing to it. Not far from Zamosc, it was almost touching the border with Belarus, the contested area indicating the Strigoi did operate over it⊠indicating one of the largest spill through points. â-Itâs an old soviet bunker, made during their 1960s initiative it was designed to hold the munitions and manpower of several units in the event of a NATO first strikeâ Krol explained. âItâs gotta be massive thenâŠâ I said gazing at the map; âDidnât the army demolish all of the old soviet hulks near Belarus to prevent any infiltrations?â 3rd Squadâs lead asked. âNational Police took the effort over⊠and by extension, the Strigoi. It was halfway demoâed before they burrowed into it and have been using it as a bridgehead ever since. This is itâŠâ Krol said. He looked around at all of us, a sense of certainty I had never seen before as he blew smoke from his nostrils; âWeâve been fucking around in the dark for so long, itâs hard to believe weâve made any progress, but this is it. With this gone, this will set them back over a decade and the momentum will finally shift into our favor⊠into Polandâs⊠-Europeâsâ.
I swear there was almost a flash of joy, of pride in his eyes and a phantom of a smirk before reality set back in âThat being said⊠we canât leave this to chance, especially not something as important as this. Weâre going to have to go there ourselves⊠clear through every inch of that place, and tear it all down, piece by piece. I will be straight with you all⊠when we go, there will be some of us that arenât coming back. -but we are going⊠a whole generation is counting on us, and unborn billions rely on us to succeedâ. We all nodded, a silent agreement washing over us as we took this upon ourselves. Echo-1 spoke up: âSo⊠Theyâre authorizing a raid? How big?â. âWeâre rolling in as a hard target, armor, explosives, and air supportâ Krol answered, taking a drag off his cigarette. âAviation? How the hell did we get that approved, weâve gotten attempts shot down four times due to those leechesâ I said in disbelief. âThereâs too much evidence here pointing to the human trafficking tied to their actions⊠Weâve finally got too much weight pinning them down, to keep the hammer from slamming into their necksâ Krol chuckled. He looked around âAny questions?â. âWhen?â Echo-3 asked. âThree hours. Weâre hitting them in the dead of night, only time we could get the birds authorized. Get your boys ready. Weâre rolling outâ Krol said, dying the cigarette bud out on the table. I canât begin to tell you the euphoria we felt leaving that cage, as our men started arriving, they did so a lot quicker, and with their heads a lot higher than they had in weeks. As Second Squadâs lead we were going to be one of the main arms of attack into the bunker, thus I made sure we had a breacher loaded with enough thermite, charges, and tools to cut through anything. Our shield bearer we ready to go, as was our assaulters, grenadiers, and machine gunner. I double checked each and everyone of their weapons; ensuring the feeder paws of our squadâs belt fed were intact, making sure every breach charge we had was properly set and packed. There was going to be no mistakes, no slip ups. The margin of error needed to be the smallest it had ever been for us tonight if we were going to make the gore spilt worth it.
Finally⊠there on the outside of the building, the bright LED lights kept the darkness of the ensuing night at bay as the roar of our MRAPs could be heard. It was said once that war is 99% peace, and 1% chaos, they were right. The slow periods where the blood slowed and the doubt creeped in was the worst⊠yet we all kept it at bay. We needed to, there was going to be no backing down tonight. All three squads were up, all of us ready to go⊠we circled up⊠short stares and shaky nods telling us one things: We were in this together, till the end⊠the finish line so many before us had been searching for, we were being granted tonight.
A single set of footsteps could be heard as we turned, Major Krol stepping into the center. He took the last drag of a cigarette, throwing it down to the ground and stamping it out onto the damp concrete. He looked around⊠his chin strap blowing in the weak air as he met everyone of our gazes⊠then mine⊠then looked around. âI want you to remember every detail of tonight, as you have every other night⊠when you are situationally aware, scanning for the enemy, liberating the subjugated, I want you to remember the sting of anxiety, the shake of adrenaline, the chill of the bunker, the heat of your weapon as it cuts them down⊠because tonight we are going to write every fine detail of our victory, their defeat, in historyâŠâ Krolâs words echoed deep into our souls. He paused for a moment, staring around he looked down⊠a small pause before he said âWhen you are ruthless in combat, remember to be patient, and reserved in victory. This conflict is for our existence⊠a lot of innocents have bled due to the mistakes of those who failed to listen, a lot of our brothers are now laid under because we had to bridge the gap of uncertainty with their lives. We remember them now⊠but in an hour? We forget them⊠when we raise our barrels, when we cut into those foes, and we liberate Polska!! This does not end tonight, but history puts everything in itâs place, and patience is the companion of the victor⊠All of our hard work will be cemented, no matter the obstacles we face in that darkness⊠no matter the demons, the blood, no matter what incomprehensible horrors, we will make them comprehend that to invade our land, to bleed our people, the justice will be paid in full⊠Load up. Itâs time*â*.
The purpose in our steps was heavy as we climbed the back ramps of the MRAPS; Four of the heavily armored vehicles, one for each squad with an additional for attached personnel including our JTAC, the term means Joint Terminal Attack Controllers. With air support requisitioned to us for this operations, there needs to be a definite liaison on the ground who can directly communicate to the birds, and coordinate their fire and progress. Iâd worked with many of them in the past, resourceful guys, quick thinking though I guess that comes with the position they hold of needing to quickly figure out what bombs to drop, on which target, at what precise points, whilst taking contact. He loaded in the lead vehicle with Major Krol⊠and soon, our convoy kicked off.
The drive was several hours as myself and my squad sat in the back of that forty ton goliath, the rumbling of the engine keeping us awake as the crap heater fought to keep the cold from the outside frost from setting in. I looked around to each of them, some were catching some sleep because even with the circumstances⊠better to get all the energy you can, than to stay awake for nothing. Others were checking their weapons⊠My gunner locked eyes with me, the same one from the village extraction⊠many of these men I had trained with for a while now, fought with for months.
We may have met on unconventional circumstances but those in JW Grom thrive on austere chance and create opportunity from scratch. I was pulled from my thought by the sound of a transmission, my peltors were set up for dual comms so I could both receive information from the Major and other leads, whilst communicating with my team.
Krol himself sent out: [âApproximately 10 minutes from enemy AOâŠâ]. As the rest of the squads acknowledged, I quickly sent out [âEcho-2 Copiesâ], before kicking the boots of any of them sleeping: âLook alive, weâre hereâ. Through the exterior net armor of the MRAPS, and the bars protecting the small reinforced windows, we could barely see jack shit. I reached up, turning off the overhead light as we all looked through our nods to scan the outside. A dark wall of dense trees was shown before us, making it difficult to see⊠in addition to night vision capabilities we had also requisitioned ourselves some thermals⊠when mounted onto rifles they were bulky, made it a pain to aim down quickly, but considering the supernatural capabilities of spotting our foes we needed every advantage necessary.
I flipped out one of my tubes⊠scanning the outside with my scope. I looked over to one of my assaulters who had been assigned to man the turret of the MRAP, seated near the view screen as he controlled the 50. Cal. Each of the vehicle turrets had been assigned a direction to cover⊠we took the 9 oâclock, the left flank. âSee anything?â I asked. He shook his head; âNegative⊠wait⊠Iâve got two cold signatures, front left heading to our rearâ.
I quickly scanned the far tree line, at approximately 60 meters off our left were two cold signatures⊠followed by a third heading to our front⊠then another. They were surrounding us, moving at speeds so fast I could barely keep my reticle on them. Is this what the National Police saw? What they faced at that lodge without the benefit of a foot of heavy armor protecting them on all sides. Then⊠suddenly. Something slammed into the side of our MRAP so hard, it caused it to shake. From over the leader comms, Echo-3 quickly shouted [âContact right!! 4 hostiles!!â].
One of the Strigoi⊠so bold, had charged and slammed into the side of our MRAP. I quickly looked to see the figure, a dark blue mass of cold energy through my thermal, back away without so much as a stagger⊠as they tried to flee into the woods, the white hot justice of Echo-3âs gun fired at them, cutting them down. âBlachowicz Iâve got a few breaking for our vicâ my man on the turret called out, I spun around, spotting out the window.
Just then, Major Krol announced [âweapons free, watch and shoot for targets of opportunityâŠâ]. I turned to him⊠âtake those fuckers out-â. Without hesitation my vicâs turret began to quickly target them, and through the darkness I saw a stream of outgoing fire bisect one of them, the ISR of the black blood freaking out the optic so badly it didnât know what temperature to register it as⊠but it did register it. As another was cut down, one broke through the tree line and latched onto the side of our MRAP. The thing tore at one of the outer net armor panels, usually made to stop RPGs. It grabbed at the bars near the windows, tearing one off⊠I lowered my rifle as we locked eyes through the reinforced window.
The thing⊠the Strigoi looked at me, skin cracked as putrefied muscle fibers seemed to leak through dead flesh. Itâs teeth were corroded and worn down to sharp fragments, alongside newly mutated fangs that messily protrude from the jaws. Even through the thick walls of the MRAP I could hear itâs roar, as it then tried to punch itâs way through⊠it cracked the outer coating of the vehicle⊠but it wasnât getting anywhere near. My machine gunner, seated next to me, seemed to chuckle at the sight, quippily saying âYeah⊠fuck you tooâ. Itâs then our vehicle lurched upwards, as we began to climb the small incline of the bunker. I knew the layout, mapped it in our head, the main entrance was built into the rocky side of an old cliff meaning we could easily set up a defensive perimeter around it, a horseshoe. Krolâs vehicle was first, taking to the right as Echo-3âs MRAP followed. My vehicle, third, left the incline and took a left and⊠thatâs where things got complicated.
Weâre still trying to work out what happened but⊠from what Joakim says his drone captured. Right when the MRAP turned, several of the monsters quickly slammed into the side of the vehicle, as another more bulkier one, pushed at itâs undercarriage. The result.. Was the 40 ton armored vehicle tipped over. It wasnât uncommon, hell in some cases a well placed IED, a good shot with a recoilless rifle, have been known to tip over Oshkoshs and Maxpros all the time. But this beast? Needless to say we barely had a second to comprehend it as it leaned to the left; âGrab on to something-â is all I had time to shout. A mess of gear and men spilled onto one side of the vehicle as it slammed into the old gravel and dirt.
Several of my assaulters, my grenadier planted right ontop of myself and the others as we came to a stop. Someoneâs knee slammed directly into the side of my skull, causing me to dazily bob in and out of consciousness as my face was smushed against the glass of one of the windows.
Through my peltors, the other squads were erratic;
[âEcho-2âs vehicle is down!!â].
[âEcho-3 to Echo-2⊠Echo-3 to Echo-2âŠâ].
Krolâs voice came through the comms;
[âEcho-Lead to Echo-2⊠Fuc-... Echo-1 secure Echo 2âs flank, Echo-3â].
[âEcho-3 to other units, theyâre spilling through, Iâve got several enemy combatants converging on Echo-2âs vehicleâ].
I pushed the legs of my grenadier off my head as I fought to my hands and knees, unfucking my nods as I looked around⊠âFuck it⊠weâre going lights on, shield your eyesâ I muttered as I reached for the overhead lights and flipped them on. The bright LEDs bathed the inside of the vehicle as we all gained our bearings, a mess of multicam, gear, and weapons as we quickly pushed each other off. My gunner caught as he fought to realign his promask, from what I gathered one of the assaulters had landed directly into his gun, pushing it directly into his jugular, as pulled back at the rubber and coughed, freeing up his esophagus. We didnât have time to think however⊠the sound of bending metal caught our attention⊠as the back ramp door of the MRAP was ripped clean off. I could barely believe it but as the white light of the MRAPâs interior poured to the outside, a hulking mass leaned in, the dead flesh on itâs face nearly fallen off as the hideous Strigoi leaned inside.
Without hesitation I aimed took aim, yelling âKeep to the deck!!â to any of those inbetween myself and the invader as I opened fire. A burst of full auto fire tore through itâs collar and neck, my men quickly clung to either sides of the fallen MRAP as a few more fired out. As the thing backed up, a blast of .50 cal fire quickly tore it to shreds, along with several others as I realized they were fuckin swarming over the outside of our vehicle. Echo-3âs vehicle continued to carefully fire on the Strigoi on the outside, the sounds of .50 cal ricocheting off the outside of our armor was enough to make the pucker factor set in.
[âEcho-3 to Echo-2â].
[âThis is Echo-2, weâre green on ammo, equipment, menâ].
[âRoger, weâre shifting fire, exit the vehicleâ].
âHurry up letâs go!!â I barked to my men, leading the way as I staggered out. I turned on my peq, taking aim at silhouettes in the brush as I began to fire. The sounds of machine guns lighting up the brush, as a sea of growls, howls, and incomprehensible roars fired back at us was the ambient noise of the night. My men quickly exited, my gunner being the last as he and I pulled back to the rest of the defensive perimeter. I set in my men to take up the frontal security, as 3rd squad took the right flank, 1st squad to the left. Major Krol and the JTAC were bickering with each other; âHow far out are the birdsâ. âTheyâre entering airspace nowâŠâ Joakim said, already scanning his smart book.
I asked âWhatâve we got?â. He then flipped through⊠to the NATO combined arms segment, quippily saying; âApachesâŠâ. This caused me to pause as Echo-3 turned their head whilst directing their squadâs fire âThe hell⊠where did we get apaches from?â. âThe Americans⊠they volunteeredâ Krol said dismissively as he took aim at the darkness, firing off a controlled trio. âVolunteered? Theyâre aware of whatâs going on?â I asked.
Krol seemed to stop, glancing back at me before returning his focus âThereâs a lot more going on than you realize, Blachowicz⊠Prep the breach, you and 1st are going onâ.
I quickly pulled my breacher off the line, securing some thermite as the reinforced bunker door wasnât going to go as easily as a conventional door breach would. 1st Squad pulled back, stacking up and preparing themselves to be the first in. All the while⊠Joakim gave his firing solution; âAlpha Hotel Two Five Nine, This is Bravo-4âŠâŠ Type 2âŠ.â.
I snapped to my right, watching as a Strigoi managed to dark across the clear gravel field, only to be cut down by my gunner, the peqâs laser marking the burst as it tore through the beastsâ hips, as it hit the ground and still continued to claw, another GROM operator took aim and fired into itâs skull. Joakim popped up to his feetâŠ. âMarking laser, high powerâŠâ. He then pulled out a target marking laser⊠if youâve watched night operations, youâve probably seen them.
The green laser than as it says on the label, marks targets. The pattern of which can vary⊠if itâs a point target, itâll usually lasso an area, or remain on target until the target is removed with extreme prejudice. If its close air support, then itâll be a line of the general area⊠and Joakim damn near marked the entire perimeter around us. He quickly pocketed the tool, turning back to Krol; âDonât go past 20 meters unless you want to be liquidatedâ.
With that⊠2nd and 1st stacked up at the door as 3rd squad took up the perimeter security. As Major Krol went over to Echo-1⊠I saw them. A single blinking IR strobe from the beasts as they moved on the far off horizon, converging from several angles⊠and fired. The sound of the Apacheâs main gun, the M230, truly sounds like the hammer of god⊠the 30mm cannon shot through the dark sky, lighting it up as we saw three incoming streams tear up the woods. Only then as the sound broke did we start to hear their rotors as they broke and began to circle, firing again⊠then⊠Joakim dipped his head and looked to Krol; [âFoxtrot Mike, hang onto your teethâŠâ]. One of the Apaches fired off a AGM-114⊠a Hellfire. I barely saw it out of the corner of my eye as the Apache from our right flank fired off at a target approximately 200 meters off. A fireball lit up the forest as the horrendous roar echoed throughout⊠then went silent.
Echo-3 scanned the horizon carefully;
[âEcho-3 to Echo-Lead, enemy contact is starting to die downâ].
[âMaintain perimeter, Close Air is to maintain fire mission until we are boots up, BreakâŠâ].
[âEcho-Lead to Echo-1, condition white has been met. Proceedsâ]. I saw Echo-1 and his men quickly stack up close to the wall and gesture to me; Breaching. I quickly pulled my stack back against the wall as his and mine breacher quickly hit their actuators. Now under normal circumstances, it doesnât take much for thermite to melt the locks off of a metal surface, in fact itâs a more precise took as alternative means get real medieval like saws, pry bars⊠we werenât in the mood for precision, we need to breach their little lair, and drag them out. The sound of several pounds of hellfire burning through the metal could be heard around the corner as a sea of white and red sparks flew out⊠after several seconds, two of our men tossed a fragmentation grenade and a nine-bang through the opening⊠a series of concussive blasts and a large explosion rang out.
Echo-1 and his men maneuvered. 1st Squad quickly converged as we followed them in.
Stepping through the black wall of smoke, the dark abyss of the interior was illuminated in a white light as entered barrels raised. Shots rang out as several of the beasts near the entrance were cut down, though not immediately, rounds disconnected the shoulder of one of them, leading to their arm hanging limply by a single tendon as they roared⊠another series of rounds putting them down. What greeted us was a messy concrete hell of rust and debris, fecal matter, trash, and all kinds of obstacles laid in our way, our boots sticking to the floor. I thank every god we had promasks that night. I called my shield bearer up, 2nd squad leapfrogging ahead to take the next corridor as 1st squad checked their weapons.
One of my men mule kicked the metal door ahead, twice, finally the latch gave away as we tossed in a grenade. A horrifying roar was cut off as an M67 shook the walls of the ancient soviet mausoleum, frag and spall kicked off the walls as I moved in right behind my shield man. The cramped russian design meant there was barely enough space for three people, and thatâs three normal people, not in 50kgs of kit, moving slowly and maneuvering against creatures of the dark. Still⊠we moved forward, my shield bearer and I pushing the pace as two stacked of either squad formed on either wall.
As we passed doorways they flowed in⊠âDoor Left!!â, âDoor Right!!â. âMove!!â.
Two men entered each side, no gunshots, we moved up, a roar came.
âDoor left!!-â. A series of gunshots came out as we continued to push forward.
âTwo down!!â. âConfirm themâ Krol commanded, as a series of gunshots run out in response. From one of the doorways, a Strigoi emerged⊠a female⊠clumps of hair had been ripped from her decaying skull, as her blooded eyes locked on myself and my shieldman. The skin on her hands had been tore down to the point where barely her bones and tendons remain⊠looking like huge talons as she roared and lunged at us. He fired off his pistol, though the rounds did little to stop her as she pushed against our stack.
âFuck!!â he muttered, somehow her strength caused him to stagnate, holding up the advance⊠fuck that. I shoved the muzzle of my MK18 into her ribcage, flipping the weapon to auto as I fired of round after round. The 5.56 salvo disconnecting her spinal column, causing her to fall as I continued to fire, along with a man to our right and left as the stacks reformed as we pushed to the end of the hall. I fell back, dropping the magazine and loading a fresh one, like clockwork a GROM Operator from 1st squad took my place. Krol was beside me as we approached the end of the hall.
[â-Prep an entryâ] I radioed to my breacher, a comrade handed him one of the charges from his back panel as he took to the door, quickly securing it. We all moved as far back as we could, look away, exhale. The blast knocked metal and wood in all directions, scrapping against our uniforms and kit as we made our way in and what laid before us was⊠it used to be the center atrium of one of these bunkers. Sovietâs loved their grandiose designs, the complex was supposed to be a circular room around a central planning table⊠instead. It had been turned into some sort of church. Runes and old eastern Romuva pagan symbols written in black ink and blood across the walls, old rotten filing cabinets, long receipt terminals. In the center⊠several of the Strigoi were kneeling before the table where someone had been tied down, flayed, and⊠shared amongst the group. They rose to their feet, we aimed our barrelsâŠ
The ladder amongst turned to us⊠his skin wasnât cracked, or flayed, it was smooth⊠it still looked dead as the body on the table but it seemed more⊠accustomed to it. I donât know⊠evolved? Under the surface however I could see itâs darkened veins pumping whatever cursed blood ran through them as it locked two blood red eyes onto each of us. Itâs nose had long since been turn off, exposing boney nostrils to the open air as it seemed to smirk. All across itâs body were the same symbols on the walls, in every cell⊠markings of death, of rebirth, of assimilation⊠From behind this seemingly Alpha emerges another figure I had never seemed before⊠dressed in a white cloak with a deer head.
"So they've followed the trail... they're too late" the Deer headed individual spoke, definitely not from here, a dialect similar to an Americans but... aristocratic? Each word was drawn out, assurance as if they had everything mapped down to our actions. They didnât sound like they were from Poland or the east.
âDoesnât matterâŠâ the Alpha growled⊠and then, it lunged at us. Quickly breaking from their ground it slammed into my shield man knocking both him and myself at the ground as it displayed an intense feat of strength. Around us I could see several of the Strigoi leap at our comrades⊠though to no fruitful endeavor as I could see one GROM operator cut two down, as another got into a hand to hand confrontation⊠my breacher, crafty as they were, reached back and slammed one of the prybars of his kit into the skull of the beast.
The Alpha however was not content as it threw away the 90lb shield, sending it flying across the room as it grabbed my comrade by the skull. I quickly kicked up at it, firing my MK18 into itâs body as the rounds pierced itâs gray and rune covered flesh. The thing simply seemed to chuckle⊠that was until Major Krol blasted away at the side of itâs head, the alpha turned⊠and itâs smirk turned to a scowl when face to face with the major. A knowing pause almost like they had done this dance beforeâŠ
The creature lunged, locking up with Major Krol as it swung and slammed railing. Krol didnât back down however as he pushed against the creature, hiptossing it to the ground even as it tore at his armor and gear. But the beast pulled, both of them rolled and the Major was on his back as the thing reached for his neck. I fought to a kneel, firing into the creature messily with my MK18, trying not to hit my commander⊠thenâŠ
Click. A sound sends a chill up the spine of every warfighter during a firefight.
My gun ran dry. I dropped the magazine, looking to load another, but the thing came up and with one of itâs claws, sliced deep into my cheek, through the pro mask. I could feel my own blood go flying through the air as I landed hard on my back plate, spitting out red iron as I quickly tried to adjust my mask. Through my fogged up, blood covered lense⊠I saw my shield man raise his pistol, firing into the skull of the thing staggering it with a roar. Krol came from behind, drawing his knife he sunk it deep into the neck of itâŠ. I reached for my rifle, forcing a new magazine in and damn near punching the bold release. ââSir, down!!â I shouted, Krol rolled away, back to his own rifle as I fired. So did my comrade as he continued to fire his pistol⊠so did the Major as he fired his rifle. All of us chewing through that apex predator of darkness, that beast⊠the leader that had been preying on our people for so long. Layer by layer, muscle group by bone⊠eventually⊠the alpha landed on whatever was left of his back.
The silence of the fight died down as all of us checked our surroundings, GROM Operators putting controlled pairs in the heads and nerve stems of any Strigoi laying around⊠I flicked my weapon onto safe, letting it hang as I pulled off my mask. I dared not touch the wound on my face⊠the pain nearly crippling me if it wasnât sheer will pushing me through, and adrenaline doing all it could to subdue it. The sound of the apaches continuing to lay hate drew us from our moment of contemplation as the Major went back to work; [âConfiscate any info, burn the restâŠâ]. He turned back to me as I shoved my damaged M50 mask back into itâs bag, chuckling as he looked at the sight; âYou need a medevac, Blachowicz?â he quipped.
I shook my head, barely able to speak as I muttered; âNegative sirâŠâ. The two of us scanned the room as my shield bearer went to collect his defense implement turned 90lb projectile, we scanned the center of the room, checking and confirming bodies, until we got to the last one alive. His white gown was soaked in red crimson and black ooze, as his dear head was mangled from bullet fire and impact from falling on it. I swear⊠the way his blood poured out of it though made me wonder if it was a mask. I gave it no second thoughts as he looked to Krol; âYou⊠you canât stop this, theyâve already-â.
The Major was in no mood for communication as his rifle snapped up and fired off three rounds to the body, four the head. The violent yet quick salvo ending the cultists life, I looked down at it, then to him as he remarked; âHave your squad drag him out to the front, burn the restâ. I stood alongside him, looking down as the sight of itâs deer head was both captivating and horrifying⊠the curiosity in me wanting to look closer at it fighting the primal instinct I had to burn the thing to ash. â-Havenât seen one of those beforeâŠâ I muttered, thinking the Major had an answer.
He didnât. Krol saying âNeither have IâŠâ shortly before he walked away, was what truly shook my soul about that entire night. Victory stood firm in our hearts that night as we stood outside of the bunker. The night sky burning with fire and white phosphorus as we watched the ruin burn from the inside from the other side of the lot. In the distance, the Apaches continued to scan and circle the forests, no longer firingâŠ. Which meant they had driven any or turned to glass any enemy combatants within a four miles, probably both, more than likely the latter. Echo-1 patted me on the shoulder as we stood there, soaking it all in, though Krol looked none to pleased. âIn the time it took us to take this one down, theyâll be trying to set up three more cells⊠that being establishedâŠâ he said, looking to either of us, then to Echo-3. â-Hell of a thing we did tonight, been waiting for this one for a decade, cleanly, maybe more⊠but no time to rest on our laurels⊠weâll have another task for us as soon as weâre boots down back homeâ he said, to which his eyes followed mine, the body of whatever cultist that was zipped up in a black body bag beside the wheel of one of the MRAPs. The fire from the bunker casting an orange hue over itâs shiny jet black outside, something didnât sit right with me⊠âThat wasnât a StrigoiâŠâ I said to Krol.
âThatâs very clearâŠâ the Major said, shoving his mask under his arm and lighting a cigarette. âSo⊠someoneâs helping them?â I asked. The meer notion of it shook me to my core, sickened me. This parasite was already badly infecting Europa, Polska⊠if it was spread like this throughout the world. Krol settled my nerves: âWeâll be ready⊠Itâs not just us anymoreâ. As he said that, I realized what he meant⊠my eyes looking to the Apaches as they started to form up, leaving the areas as their thunderous propellers melted into the nightâs calm, unnerving ambience.
Itâs been a couple of weeks since then, Echo Detachment has been busy. Weâve gained good ground against the enemy and honestly I think in a few years, we might see a much larger change. For now⊠we must keep going, that being said the Strigoi arenât the only ones weâve been combating. Recently weâve made contact with of some sort of extermination coalition, theyâve known about the Strigoi, and others plaguing the world, the level of corruption and corrosion on society goes deep. Regardless a lot of the units weâve been working with are apart of NATO, such as this â4th Special Forces Groupâ of the American Military. I donât know where the road from here leads, but weâve gotten momentum on our side, finally. Just remember⊠these things are out there, in every town, every city, every nation⊠preying and waiting for you to be alone, vulnerable, so they can take you and replace you.
Watch your back, and stay safe.
For now, Blachowicz signing out. Until next time

2024.05.14 21:55 LordGreim225 Beginning of the Great Assault (Operation: Rolling Erosion)
| It had been too long. Far far too long since they had a command meeting. (Like seriously really sorry this took so long.) âThe situation had been developing for some time, & for a time Greim had no idea how to recover the situation as it evolved. Now however he had a plan. Not the best or most sophisticated Plan. But they were against the clock & the situation would only get worse if they waited too long. âLadies & gentleman. It has come to my attention that the High lords will not be sending further support for this campaign for the foreseeable future. With numerous wars against the Tyranids and the Indomitus crusades, we will have to make do with what we have. Whatâs more, word has reached the wider Tâau Empire of our invasion of the system. We are unsure if they will be dispatching a Fleet and further military support at this time. As such we are against the clock here. If we take this system & bring them to heel at the negotiation table we can ultimately be victorious on the field & let the negotiators and politicians ensure we keep what we take. As such we will review what I have gathered From our situation. Older situation map. âAs far as Iâve gathered we have very little progress in our assaults on the defensive lines of Camburg. We have taken the Sanguine Bridge & made ground toward but not taken the Firekeep. Kaâesh Fortress, the Tâauâs primary military airbase is still operational. Iâd have hoped we had taken more ground, but given our situations that occurred itâs remarkable we did not lose more ground. With the clock ticking & our pool of manpower no longer going to be increasing or replenished as easily we need to hit the Tâauâs primary nerve in the Gryllus system before we are too weak to do so in the future. I had hoped further forces from other fronts could aid in this, but we are out of time & would lose ground elsewhere we canât afford to give anymore.â âThe dark briefing room of the Strategiums holo map lit up with new icons of their situation.â Opening maneuvers âThis plan is not very complicated in its opening moves. We will hit the Tâau with sudden overwhelming force wherever we can. They need both these fortresses to maintain the defense of Camburg. Firekeep is situated on one of the only land crossings, & with Kaâesh fortresses air bases operational crossing the river with pontoons, or fording with vehicles would be far too costly, as such the Kestrels will cordon & destroy the airbase utterly. It is of Tâau design & as such unsalvageable, it is to be utterly razed to the ground. The titans & a Large contingent of Aironautica will provide assistance & heavy fires support. But this is a very well defended target. We believe several Tâau super heavies to be present. This mission is their atonement for previous transgressions & to prove their loyalty as good guardsman, if they succeed they will be rewarded. The large support elements is to try & mitigate the losses as much as possible & give them a fair fight. The fortress also hosts a large garrison of Tâau auxiliary infantry & conscripts alongside Fire warriors, so be advised. We estimate their strength at 5,000 Fire warriors & 9,000 auxiliaries & conscripts. However the air power is their greatest strength. We will send numerous hydra flak battery squadrons to further assist in this assault.â âHe scrolled toward the Firekeep.â âThe rest of the army will hit the firekeep in force. This is a major training center for Tâau fire warriors & we expect stiff resistance here. They know theyâre the last line against us & Camburg itself. Tâau infantry & human auxiliaries will be the bulk of their defenses. This was once an imperial installation & its architecture shows. Example of the Firekeep curtain walls. While this fortress could theoretically be resanctified & saved, that is no longer a concern. This fortress & its defenders must be silenced & we canât cordon them off like Kaâlesh fortress. So its destruction is likely necessary. The Krieg 5th will bombard the fortress as will all available heavy guns not used for the destruction of the Tâau airbase. The 5th will use its breaching drills to create passages to breach the curtain walls & storm the outer gates from the inside to open the gates for our forces. Once inside clear the fortress top to bottom, regiments that specialize in this type of environment will take point. If the drills fail we will bombard the fortress till it is rubble & storm it traditionally. The Titans will relocate once the airbase is most in ruin & is unable to be threaten our flanks any longer. Once the airbase is cleared our forces can also ford the rivers & begin moving on Camburg itself. Phase II of the operation: The holodisplay projects the capital city of the Tâau Empireâs government in the Gryllus System Camburg is a major city, the largest in the system in fact & primary seat of power for the Tâau Prelate ruling over this system. It is heavily defended by both Fire Warriors, Human Auxiliaries, Kroot, & even hosts a Demiurg population alongside other client races. This isnât going to be an easy nut to crack. While not a hive city it is still a damn big one. Multiple levels exist in certain districts that go into the earth some nearly a deep as the buildings are tall. Its population estimates vary, but we estimate several tens of millions at minimum. The city is several thousand kilometers in length as well. A Tâau entertainment Dome, a popular attraction in one of the eastern city Parks This one is primarily used by the water caste, where public debates into philosophy & questions are discussed at length for hours & hours on end in a unique sort of Diplomatic debate Sport that seems popular among the caste. The largest subterrainain district in Camburg in the older human districts. Tâau technology & human culture blend. This area is the entertainment A Auxiliary conscripts sketch of Mesme Districts Curtain walls. The Tâau primary Barracks and Fire Castes living quarters are situated in between the Tâau made eastern portion of the city & older human settlement next to the Etherel prelates primary residence & government building. Security is tight as such & these walls are a major line of defense for the leader of the Gryllus system. The artist was captured in a recent raid & this was found on her person. She has since been taken for further questioning & is scheduled to be sent to the Penal Colony Agri World in thanks for her cooperation. The Aun Reach Compounds view of the city. This is one of the most heavily defended regions & buildings in the entire system. An Artists depiction of the local peacekeepers of Camburg. This station is run by both humans & Tâau. Despite what one might think, water caste primarily makes up the bulk of law enforcement in the Tâau empire. Their diplomatic skills One of the Tâau loading bays & Battlesuit Armories. The heaviest suits that are more akin to flightless walking tanks are stationed in Camburg as a last line of defense. Though not numerous, there destructive power is equal & or super-passes any Imperial superheavy & some are even designed to hunt the might god engines if rumors are true. As stated in a previous debriefing. The Tâau Auxiliaries defense corp has taken its toll in this war & its numbers once in the millions of volunteers are now being supplemented by conscripted soldiery. These troopers are given quick rudimentary training & their equipment now shows it. Once wearing full combat suits able to help regulate temperatures & have built in comms. Now these fresh soldiers are given basic fatigues, a chestplate, & a padded kevlar like hood designed to protect them from shrapnel & weather. Their primary weapon a âPulse Defenderâ is a semi auto Pulse weapon with no stock or advanced scope beyond basic iron sights âThe intelligence dockets were detailed & more information could be provided if asked but the lord general continued.â Icons lit up once again like before one the map with new objective markers highlighted in gold for priority & green for non essential or secondary. âOur assault on Camburg will be absolute & to hammer home our advantage in numbers We still have we will strike with force on the Western half of the city. This is primarily the older settlement from the original human colonists. As such the architecture will primarily be imperial of origin in certain areas. However expect Xeno buildings & designs added as well. If things go well enough attacking the airbase Kestrel & titan forces will join us from the north, though this plav can operate without them. As we approach the city, first blood will go to the Astartes, if they are willing. Any space marine compliments available will attack the Spaceport in a rapid shock assault via however they wish. Anti air is present but I doubt that can stop angels of death for long. Their mission will be to destroy any Tâau air assets capable of defense & reduce the spaceport or any ships present to nonfunctional. This will eliminate the threat they can evacuate their leadership before we can reach him. After they have caused enough damage they can withdraw at their discretion.â âHe panned over the guards & knight elements.â âWe will begin with a bombardment of the outer defenses & target troop staging areas such as Barrackâs & Aunâs Reach. This is a civilian rich environment. They will likely try & flee from other gates. Hopefully in the east where they are out of our way & hamper the Tâauâs movements. Once we have a breach alert all personnel to increase pressure & pour all available units in. Once we are inside the fun part starts. We expect stiff resistance, barricades by conscripts. Murder holes, emplaced Tâau turrets & every vehicle & battlesuit they can throw at us alongside infantry. This will be a war of Rats, warrens & destroyed buildings will become fortresses in their own right. My regiment is specialized in shock assault & hive warfare, this will be our element. Many of you I know it will be the same. I will make my headquarters in Alexiaâs Mercy Basilica as itâs old, large & sturdy & capable of holding what I need Being close enough to our lines in the north for further resupply. Our greatest challenge will be Aunâs Reach. This is the resident of the Tâau Prelate AunâUi ViorâShi, they will do anything to defend him. He is priority one, take him alive, if we do. We could force the entire system wide Tâau force to surrender, We expect other Ethereal to be present as well, kill or take them alive if you can. That massive structure is the central nerve of the Tâau forces here in the system. Speaking of Ethereal's there is a target of interest regarding that. âHe pointed to objective J.â âThis which we have dubbed Seekers Rest, is a facility reserved for a Tâany sub group called Yasu'caor or Seekers in gothic. This seems to be a philosophical concept but its administrative one is something analogous to an Tâau equivalent of an Inquisition.â âThere was a pause with such connotations.â âItâs members are exclusively of the Ethereal caste & while I suggest you research them with data that can be provided, they will often be accompanied by retinues of varying backgrounds including there client races both of militant & other backgrounds. As such capturing this facility & its occupants would be a valuable asset. If needed Iâm willing to provide rewards to the soldiers who bring them in, & no it would be open to units who assisted them as well equally. This mission may require a more subtle hand but Iâm open to suggestions.â âThe Tâau military commander is one named Stoneguard. There are other forces present alongside fellow Tâau military leaders. Stoneguard believes in a patient hunter tactic of his species. He is patient & calculating & usually defensive, a dangerous combination for a defensive commander. Goad him as much as you can but do not fall for easy traps. Draw him in & lure him to situations he canât win either way. We wonât take the city in one swift strike likely. But if we do this, we could cripple its defenses & make the other half much easier to take. I will now open the floor to discussion of tactics & methods for making this a reality.â âHe sat down & let the projection stay.â (Estimates for enemy forces to be determined. We should outnumber them in most scenarios but they will be dug in more often then not.) submitted by LordGreim225 to war_for_Gryllus [link] [comments] |

2024.05.14 16:32 3106overflow iPhone & malware/ viruses
Using an iPhone 15 Max pro, iOS 17.4.1, Google Chrome (browser). I went to a website for a legit company however they must have changed their domain / site and when browsed to the domain another site popped up for adult content and other things. I did not click on anything and immediately closed the browser, deleted cache, deleted cache for safari (just as a precaution), forced a restart of the device and once it turned back on I preformed a normal shutdown/ restart. So far not noticing any issues. How likely is it that because of this my iPhone suffered any type of malware/ spyware or virus attack or infection? Thanks in advance for input and suggestions.

2024.05.14 15:25 OrganizationGreat248 Unlucky Isekai Life (Part 2 of 6)
Ruby groaned as the alarm went off signaling that one of her charges had arrived back from their mission. While troublesome in its own right, what really got under her skin was that she only had one charge at the moment, and that edge lord piece of shit wasnât supposed to complete his task for AT LEAST another 4 deca-cycles according to the prediction algorithm. Grumbling to herself, she rolled out of bed and poured herself a glass of water to offset the hangover she was trying to recover from.
A few moments later she was gliding down the hall to the meeting room. She knew Jason was going to pitch a fit that she had left him waiting, the self-entitled brat always did think the world revolved around him; but perhaps he should have thought about that before freaking dying so early. If he wanted her to be there to meet him upon death, he could at least have the decency to not die the morning after one of her binges.
Other staff members gave her a wide berth, even if it was a hollow title, she was still technically far above basically anyone else in the pecking order, at least those who had a physical presence within the Agency. She knew they all mocked her behind her back, even divine beings were sadly prone towards gossip. She put the anger at her subordinates/coworkers out of her mind for now; even if she didnât particularly LIKE Jason, he still didnât deserve her coming in with baggage.
Lost in her thoughts, she hadnât noticed that sheâd arrived in front of the conference room door. She had been mulling over her thoughts, just staring into nothingness, for several minutes before she finally snapped back to the present. With a soft rap on the door, she opened it and floated inside. Jason was lounging, sprawled out on the regally padded chair throne he so fancied.
They exchanged pleasantries before she sat down to go over the mission summary. Upon seeing the cause of death, she had regrettably lost her composure and started to laugh uncontrollably. Her mighty subordinate had been felled by a goblin?! The mighty Jason Alexander Coyle, âmercenary extraordinaireâ, had gotten his shit kicked in by a lowly goblin using what looked like a shiny butter knife. Oh, it was just too rich to not laugh at the absurdity.
It took her much longer than she would like to admit, to stop laughing. Jason of course wore a sour look through the entire endeavor. She shrugged it off, she had little doubt that if the same thing had happened to someone else, he would have been right beside her doubled over in laughter. Hell, once he was in a less pissy mood, she might even be able to get him to laugh about it later.
As luck would have it, it appeared that Jasonâs actions had been enough to alter the tides of the war. The kingdom, and its divinity, would still lose many to the battles ahead, but Jason had done enough that the Agency could still bill the client for services rendered. As she spoke, she could see the disdain the man had for her, he always complained that she was drunk and reeked of liquor. Sure, that was often true, but he didnât need to be such a stick in the mud about it all.
She went ahead and authorized the transfer of credits to Jasonâs account. As soon as she did so, he opened up the store page and tuned her out. She watched him open up the back-channel site and purchase something, a small part of her wondered who was going to get roasted over the coals this time for allowing their admin privileges to be hacked. She toyed with the idea of bringing up his illegal actions, but truth be told she didnât really give a shit. The other divinities were far too lax with their security, it had been child's play for one of her previous wards to hack into the Agencyâs system and build the black site.
Sheâd ask him once about the whole thing, didnât really grasp as much as she would have liked, but basically it functioned by spoofing a handler's credentials. This allowed the user to gain access to encrypted parts of the network, specifically access to certain privileged services that handlers enjoyed and most importantly, access to the mission assignment database. Users could buy and sell restricted or banned goods, and a part of the profits would be siphoned off to her wardâs personal account.
With Jasonâs attention otherwise occupied, Ruby went ahead and reviewed the logs for his previous mission. Something about it was nagging at her. She couldnât put it into words; however, the whole series of events just didnât feel like âbad luckâ. Using her divine authority, she rewound events, watching Jasonâs lungs unfill with blood and refill with air.
The goblin skulked back to its den of corpses, resheathing the dagger at its hips, and reburied itself underneath the bodies. She let it rewind another few moments before stopping the feed and letting it run at normal time. She watched the goblin, slowly shifting the bodies out of the way, making sure they made no noise when it moved them. Slowly, carefully, it began to creep towards Jasonâs exposed back. It drew the blade, again slowly and quietly. It closed the distance making sure to never let Jason see it or to give him any reason to think someone was behind him. Then in a flash of movement it leapt, burying the dagger right into a joint in Jasonâs armor. The placement was perfect, no resistance, so the blade sank to the hilt. Allowing it to puncture Jasonâs right lung.
Ruby rewound the log once more. This was wrong, very wrong. The goblin was way too good to just be some random grunt. Its movements were too smooth, its aim too precise. No, she was sure of it now, this was not a normal goblin. She focused her attention on the thing, aiming to scan the goblin for abnormalities, the dust covering it offering a surprising level of resistance to her scan. Not enough to stop her from doing what she wanted, but more resistance than she felt was reasonable for the anti-magic powder.
When she finally gained access to the monsterâs stat block, her suspicions were proven correct. That was no normal goblin, that was a Redcap, a Redcap assassin no less. What in the dozen hells was a Redcap assassin doing in the middle of a freaking battlefield?! Such a valuable unit wouldnât be used on the front lines, their skill set was terribly suited for the chaos that was an active battle. No, something was very wrong here and Ruby was going to figure out what.
As her mind raced trying to puzzle out what the actual fuck was going on, something else about the goblin flagged in her mind. It had come out of the corpse pile with the dagger already in its possession. She highlighted the various bodies that had made up the goblin's hidey hole, and then rewound the scene back. Every time one of the highlighted bodies met their fate, she froze the moment and pulled the scene into a separate window. It took a few minutes, but she eventually had all of the corpses frozen in the heartbeat before their deaths. She went through and scanned every single individual. Not a single one had been equipped with a magic disruptor blade. âSo, where the fuck did the Redcap get a kingdom issued disruptor?â
Looking up, she saw that Jason was still fiddling with whatever it was that he bought. She tried to make idle conversation with the man, but he had gone full auto pilot, giving curt one-to-two word answers when asked a question or having to respond to a comment. She rolled her eyes, as much as she and him butted heads, she did have to admit that she did kind of like the guy. He had been going a little too hard into the whole dark and brooding edge lord thing recently, but that was hardly his fault. The human soul was ill suited to withstand the trauma of death, much less multiple deaths. The Agency usually did a memory scrub every couple missions, to prevent that kind of issue, but Jason had been dodging the screenings. For a moment she considered just letting sleeping dogs lie. Jason was dead and the mission was over regardless of what she might find, but the whole thing just rubbed her the wrong way.
Taking a little nip from her pocket flask, she once more focuses her attention on the Redcap. After scrubbing through the last several months of the creatureâs life, she finally finds what she was looking for. The blade had come from one of Jasonâs personal guards.
Ruby did a deep dive on the guard, and what came back made her blood run cold. The man had recently lost his lover. Jason had ordered a company to mop up a fleeing enemy force, before it could regroup and cause more issues. The entire thing had been a ruse and the company had been slaughtered to the last. The guard's lover had been part of that company. The loss had hit the man hard, driving him to the only rock left in his life. His deep belief in the kingdomâs divinity.
And wouldnât you know it, apparently the kingdomâs divinity had some issues with Jason that it couldnât be bothered to address through the proper channels. So instead of letting Ruby handle the trainwreck that was Jasonâs social skills, this little scum lord of a God, had taken upon themself to deal with the issue. Several months of holy visions were enough to convince the grieving widow to betray everyone and everything he had ever known.
Once the guard had been properly brainwashed into turning his coat, it had been a simple matter to worm his way on to all of Jasonâs post-fight surveys of the battlefield. The magic scanners that were exclusive to Jasonâs retinue, had allowed him to see that Jasonâs inhuman ability to avoid taking damage was really just a creative use of high-level magic. High-level magic that could have easily been used to save many of the kingdomâs soldiers. But of course, Jason believed himself too good to give the common man a means to protect themselves and those they loved. All this knowledge was of course worthless to the guard, he was nowhere near skilled enough to actually challenge Jason. But wouldnât you know it, the divinity had thought of that too.
The podunk worm had brokered a secret deal with the enemy heâd contracted the Agency to deal with. In exchange for getting rid of a thorn in the Godâs side, it would use its powers to scale back the war. Instead of facing a war of eradication, the enemy would be allowed to keep some of the land it had conquered.
At the urging of his God, the guard held a series of clandestine meetings with the Redcap. Imparting all the information he had learned in the months of shadowing Jason. He also gave the beast two gifts, the first was a Disruptor blade the guard had swiped from a fellow honor guard; when Jasonâs corpse was found the blade would be traced back to the unfortunate guard instead of the traitor. The second was a satchel of Grarothian powder that had been blessed by the divinity, to ensure that Jason wouldnât see the attack coming. It had worked of course; Jason hadnât even known he was in danger till the blade was already buried in his lung. Oh, she was going to have the wannabe Godâs head on a pike after this.
It pained her to admit it, but Jason deserved the final say in how this was all going to go down. She attempted to grab his attention, but the man was lost in his own little world. She tried waving her hands, ignored. She tried snapping her fingers in his ears, ignored. She even went so far as to beat her wings, blasting his face with the wind force of just under a category 1 hurricane; again ignored. Her rage was starting to reach fever pitch. So, she defaulted to the most tried and true method of stress reduction she had in her arsenal. She decided the only way for herself and Jason, once he knew the truth, to calm down would be to relax with a drink of the finest Earth treats.
With a heavy heart she opened up her most beloved extra planer storage space. This place was used for the only two things Ruby really cared about anymore. It was where she kept her most prized and coveted liquor, and where she kept the last few mementos, she possessed of her fallen wards. Her eyes scanned the room, she needed to pick the right apology gift. As she carefully made her way towards the back, she saw it. Tucked in about two thirds of the way to the back wall, stood a single hogshead of ancient scotch whiskey. The second to last gift she had received from one of her dearest friends, all those years ago.
Yes, this was the correct one. She felt it deep within her chest, a proper atonement requires a proper level of sacrifice. With a heavy heart she lifted the barrel over her head and began to stride out of the extra dimensional space. As she neared the opening, the soft clink of something falling and a flash of gold caught her eye. Sitting on a tiny end table was a small pouch of coins, one of which had somehow gotten loose and tumbled face up onto the polished table face.
For a moment she hesitated, she knew exactly what those coins were; and knew how much trouble she would get into if upper management found out she had them. That said, she also knew a sign when she saw one. The artifacts that she held within this place were the last remnants of those she had failed most of all. She pondered the meaning behind the fact that two of her previous charges seemed to have taken a shine to Jason, offering up to him their most precious of gifts. With a heavy heart and a plea to those long lost, she grabbed the coin before closing the pocket dimension.
With a loud *CLUNK* She set the hogshead down. Apparently, the sound of the barrel had finally made enough noise to draw Jasonâs attention away from his screen. From a much smaller storage pocket she produced two crystal glasses. Pouring a hefty serving into each glass, she set one down in front of herself and the other in front of Jason. Locking eyes with the man, she said a single word.
âDrinkâ
The man twisted his face up in disgust at the sight of the liquor.
âThanks, but no thanks, Iâm not inclined to degr...â
âI said, DRINK!â Ruby growl bellows, casting the Command spell on the last word. Jason, despite his best efforts to ignore the compulsion, is forced to do as he is told, and takes a hearty swig of his hundred-year-old Scotch. With a smile on her lips, Ruby takes the opportunity to sip the illustrious gift. The hours melt away as they both sip and savor the deep complex flavors of this legendary brew.
As the drink flows her recollection of events becomes just a tad bit hazy. She canât really remember how long it takes, but she does eventually come clean about the reason for this impromptu bout of drinking. It comes as little shock that Jason is... less than pleased to learn about the events that led to his death. He downs the rest of his drink in a single gulp, a waste of grand booze in Rubyâs opinion, and demands she fill his next one to the brim. For the first time in FAR too long, Ruby gets to see the Jason she had known all those years ago was still in there.
As the festivities carried on, she would occasionally catch him fiddling with the token he had bought. Curiosity finally getting the better of her, she decided to ask him about it, deciding to NOT mention that she knew it was illicitly purchased. He was cagey about it at first, but eventually loosened up and told her the truth.
He had grown bored with the usual missions that he had been assigned. He was sick of always having to play support, always cleaning up someone elseâs messes, always laying the groundwork for someone elseâs story. So, he had decided to cash in his points, and finally make use of the vacation time he had accrued. He had picked out what looked to be a pretty basic Isekai mission. Ruby suggested not mentioning his luck to anyone else, even she was aware how rare and coveted those missions were.
As the night wound to a close, they said their goodbyes. Before taking her leave, Ruby remembered the other present she had for Jason. A sharp whistle was the only warning she gave him before flicking the coin at his head. Even drunk, the manâs senses were still a thing to marvel at as he caught it in midair .
âThe fuck is this?â
âThink of it as a gift.â She snorts.
âOh, how generous of you. A whole gold coin, whatever will I spend it on.â Jason responds as he jangles the large coin pouch at his hip.
âOh, fuck off. Iâll take it back if youâre going to be a brat about it.â
Jason drops the coin into his wallet and shakes it again for good measure. âOops, too late now. Guess youâll just have to let me keep it.â He gives her a smug grin.
She scoffed before turning around and making for the door. She could hear him activate the token as she closed the door behind her. As she wandered down the hallways back to her room, she pondered the events of the day. The rogue client would need to be dealt with, but she still wasnât sure if burying him in legal paperwork for the next millennia or two, or just giving him a good old fashion human curb stomping, was the better punishment for his actions.
The choices bounced around in her head till she finally reached her residence. Having made no real progress in deciding her actions, she elected to just table the decision till she woke up next. The God was small time, so it wasnât like it was going anywhere.
She took her time getting ready to sleep. Being a divine being herself, she didnât actually NEED to sleep, but she did so enjoy the human customs surrounding the whole process. She took a long hot bath to unwind, before summoning a pair of adorable pajamas. Her body clean, and her mind at peace she laid down in her oversized excessively fluffy bed.
She had barely closed her eyes and began to drift off to blissful sleep, before she was awoken once again by the sound of her alarm going off.
âYou have got to be shitting me. HOW?!?!â

2024.05.14 14:33 SALVAGEDATA_ What Are Physical Access Attacks and How Do I Stop Them?
| https://preview.redd.it/j91u12l6zd0d1.png?width=600&format=png&auto=webp&s=c6207e093e878cfe73739275f732645286602c52 Physical access attacks encompass all the ways someone could steal your information. When attackers are able to physically reach a system, they can wreak havoc in the business operations, databases, documentations or archives, thieve confidential information, capture traffic through attaching a protocol analyzer to your network and so on. Letâs say you are working at your local Starbucks; only for a moment, you get up for a refill, leaving your laptop on the table, believing nothing bad can happen while youâre away; but should you turn your head, someone comes by, inserts a USB device and steals your data, or deploys malicious software onto your device. Of course, itâs just a rough example; but it demonstrates well that in actual it is just as simple, and it leaves you with a compromised system or corrupted, rendered inaccessible data. All the above means any education, as well as user awareness training on social engineering will be beneficial for them. PHYSICAL ACCESS ATTACKS: A TOOL OF SOCIAL ENGINEERING Since it includes both technical and administrative elements, physical security is often overlooked due to lack of awareness: to avert hacking attacks, most organizations are focusing on technology-oriented security countermeasures â and, despite the fact industry leaders have been saying for ages that physical access will always trump digital controls, physical security remains one of the weakest points in an otherwise robust defense. Not only malefactors from outside organisations, however, may be involved in inflicting harm on the crucial information stored in your device â those can also be insiders: disgruntled employees, greedy contractors, malevolent business partners etc. This is why companies should keep an eye on their routers, firewalls, server farms, cameras, doors, fences, lights, and key systems that are often ignored and exploited; once the importance of real-world security is taken into account in addition to efforts on the digital front, it might save them from vast material losses. Now, the most common ways of physical access attacks (apart from actual breaking into server rooms, of course) are invasions via USB and insecure passwords. USB CONNECTION When you or someone else plug equipment into a USB connection, your computer has a USB host controller that it joins to. This connection runs similar to an internet connection in that it contains packets and other components. Upon accepting the connection, the host then presents the USB device to the operating system, and this could represent the biggest risk to your computerâs data. If the USB device possesses malicious packets, these can transfer onto your device; once successful transfer happens, these files can corrupt your entire system. Even worse, they can deploy a Rubber Ducky attack, which creates malicious code by mimicking the keyboard. As to the physical access through the USB, Google Chromeâs intention to limit USB access will come to your aid: in case you leave your laptop alone (but have the foresight to lock the screen) and someone tries to plug in a USB device, the computerâs operating system will prevent it from executing the code. Along with this, Google is adding a feature that allows users to disable all USB connections from their Chromebook, eliminating any of the USB attacks from happening. PASSWORDS Since they represent a common access point into a PC and network, passwords are considered to be vulnerable to attacks by hackers as they may allow the intruders to access files and other data. A physical access attacks caused by broken passwords remain quite frequent case these days â which is why knowing what can be done about it is a must since thereâs a risk each computer user may face. The most common advice for precluding such incidents consists of a) using hard-to-guess passwords, and b) regularly changing them in order to prevent hackers from cracking the access and using them to penetrate your system. Meanwhile, improved method to protect a PC and network from physical access attacks includes also investing in biometric devices in addition to â or to eliminate the need of â using passwords. This, however, is quite an expensive way (especially if users want to protect multiple computers). TIPS FOR PREVENTING PHYSICAL ACCESS ATTACKS Since hackers prey on the easiest opportunities, physical security control includes extra precautions. - Refrain from leaving your device unattended (especially in public areas) should also be remembered. And, if for some reason you have to, lock the screen before leaving. Doing so can shield your device from executing malicious files.
- Apply best practices when setting passwords â select long passwords which include letters, numbers and special characters, and bother to change them frequently. If needed, consider using tools, such as enterprise password management or Identity and Access Management (IAM), as an additional measure.
- Deploy two factor authentication (2FA) and biometric devices for better protection.
- Avoid utilizing USB devices that came from untrusted sources.
- Watch over all the elements of physical security of your enterprise (fences, key systems, security alarms etc).
Finally, if you lose data due to malicious code, physical hardware failures or other problems, know solutions could be available: the team at SALVAGEDATA specializes in data recoveries for a diverse array of server and device types, so we can surely help you there! submitted by SALVAGEDATA_ to u/SALVAGEDATA_ [link] [comments] |
