2024.05.16 05:00 The_Midnight_Cool Build an igloo

When it comes to the modern day music business, thinking outside of the box is an irrelevancy. Many new artists are still locked into the old top down model based on seeking a recording contract with one of the major record companies. In all seriousness, the major record companies are dinosaurs. It's only new, small, cutting edge, independent artist owned a d operated DIY companies that are engaging in any type of innovation.
The box is irreparably broken and needs to be thrown away. Boxes are only good for the burial of dinosaur bones. So if you are young new artist determined to do it his/her own way, the next time someone mentions thinking outside of the box, tell them that you prefer to build an igloo.

2024.05.16 04:59 snoah13 Fence Staining Question

Hi guys, how would you quote this?
I have a pressure washing company out of NC. A recent client who I pressure washed their wood fence in preparation for new stain reached back out to me if I could do the staining. Typically I only pressure wash, however, I do have personal experience/tools from staining my own fence and pergola and feel more than comfortable with the process.
The customer has been quoted between $2,000-4,000 by local companies which seems really high to me.
Fence is 144 linear feet. 6 feet tall (5 foot wood planks and 1 foot lattice on top).
864 square feet or 1,728 front and back depending on how you do it.
I was thinking around $1,000 for the staining? No experience quoting this type of work. I charged $450 for the pressure washing originally as it was time consuming and the lattice was a damage concern.
Thanks.

2024.05.16 04:58 ResponsibleAcadia346 Bldg mgr keeps delaying removal of mold under sink

Hi, I’m quite sure we have several types of mold under kitchen sink. A long slow leak from a pvc drain pipe that was improperly installed by her plumbing company, and fixed by company owner. I posted pictures of the damaged and rotten wood, the mold and the leak on the property management website. It took a week for her to get the plumber here. She told me she would fix the wood floor by covering it up with “something”. I replied that was unacceptable. She said that I would have to wait. I reported this on April 25… nearly a month ago. Plumber was here over 2 weeks ago. Today I got a text from her that I have to wait until sometime in June because all the contractors are tied up!! Can anyone tell me what the timeframe is for apartments in Massachusetts to have a mold problem properly addressed? I also don’t think we need a “contractor”… her handyman should be able to replace the floorboards under the sink. What are my legal rights, if any? I’m not sure she has even notified the landlord about this specifically.

2024.05.16 04:57 Dislocated_Jowl NEVER Buy From MrSnuff

Holy shit. What a joke of a company.
These idiots have fucked up 3 of my 5 total orders.
My first order was rejected by customs for whatever reason. Fine. Shit happens. At first they tried to give me store credit, minus shipping and the tip I idiotically left. After several emails voicing my displeasure, they agreed to resend it.
They gave me a 25% discount for the trouble, which I used on my third order. This order never arrived. After about a month of emails, they finally agreed to give me credit and a second 25% off discount.
I made a new order with my credit and discount, only to have my discount removed at check out. I ended up having to pay an additional $78 for an order that should have been covered with my discount, AND I lost my discount for the 2nd time.
Today the package arrives and it’s not snuff at all. It’s a giant box of Maxi Pads. At first, I thought they had put my snuff into the box as it was too much to fit into the normal envelope.
Nope. MrSnuff sent me a giant box of Maxi Pads.
I’ve now lost 2 shipping charges, 7 weeks of waiting around and 2 25% discount codes because of their incompetence.
I thought that Johnny taking over was supposed to make things run smoother, but clearly stupidity runs in the family.
Toque, on the other hand, has consistently delivered what I order in a timely fashion.
Avoid MrSnuff at all costs.

Rec land
I have the opportunity to get a 1.25 acre lot at a discount. However I am weary of issues I may not foresee. First, I do not plan on building here other than maybe a green house. It is for a weekend getaway I want to build up over the years. I saw a post previously where someone could discern based on the low truck , near the roots of trees were swelling meaning they could be getting water higher than the roots so they are not growing down and out.
My approach is first, clearing some trees so the canopy can let more sunlight in and not retain as much moisture. Then I would work on clearing the bio material off the top. A lot of decomposing leaves. I want to use a forest mulcher to clear it out, but that’d be putting mulch on top of mulch. You can see a creek bed that I would think excess water can drain to.
In any case, my primary goal would leave me a solid foundation to plan what I would like to do next like build a greenhouse.
Zoned AG1 and is a Flood zone A but again, not trying to put a house on it.
Any red flags?

2024.05.16 04:57 Harboring_Darkness I'm hesitant about purchasing another Sanrio Build-A-Bear due to space on my shelf/insufficient amount of currency

Hi, I've been a bear builder since 2001 since I've received a Chococat Build-A-Bear during 2011 in July when I was still nine at the time.
His name is Coco and he is one of my Build-A-Bear's affiliated with Sanrio besides a snow owl bear I've gotten a year prior that back then I usually don't purchase any clothes due to the price range steeping pretty high especially if your bear is through a specific brand collab.
I just have one shelf in my room, a white five story shelf, mostly a standard bookshelf that I've been organizing my books by genre but as for Coco, well he's at the top of course but he's next to an incomplete line of books.
I'm hesitant about buying more than one since Kuromi and My Melody have been released by the company and they have been on my radar for a bit mainly due to my connection with my best friend whom despite being my polar opposite, we still make it work but having each other although I am aware of the pricing of Build-A-Bear plushes if you buy one from the Sanrio collection ($36 each btw)
Besides that, I'm unemployed and whatever is on my card that's it and I'm trying to manage my money wisely like buying what I need out of differentiating my wants from my needs and that's a financial lesson I still have to go by.
Any suggestions?

Are Solid Surface Countertops Man Made Countertops?
In the dynamic realm of home improvement, the selection of the appropriate countertop material is pivotal. While granite countertop, quartz countertops and marble countertops hold their unique charm, our attention now turns to the emerging contender: solid surface countertops. Based on market projections, the global demand for solid surfaces is forecasted to achieve $2.2 billion by 2026, with an annual growth rate of 4.4% since 2021. This trend underscores their escalating preference and the confidence industry experts hold in them. In essence, solid surface countertops present a dependable and elegant option rooted in empirical evidence and tangible benefits.

What are Man-Made Countertops?

Man-made countertops are an ingenious fusion of nature and innovation, most crafted from approximately 90-95% natural minerals and 5-10% high-quality resins and pigments. When compared to traditional natural stone surfaces, these countertops often present a 40% higher resistance to scratches and stains, requiring 30% less yearly maintenance.
Brands like KKR and Corian, leveraging cutting-edge technology, have made strides in reproducing the aesthetic of natural stones, while enhancing durability. For instance, while granite might require resealing every year, most man-made countertops remain maintenance-free for over a decade, translating to savings up to $200 annually on upkeep.
For the discerning professional, investing in man-made countertops means securing an amalgamation of nature’s beauty and engineered resilience.

What are Solid Surface Countertops?

Solid surface countertops, a groundbreaking fusion of natural minerals, and acrylic resin, offer remarkable consistency and resilience. Unlike natural stones with unpredictable patterns, these countertops showcase a uniform appearance yet offer a vast range of designs. For instance, while granite might have porosity variations from 0.45% to 1.5%, solid surfaces are 100% non-porous, ensuring superior resistance against stains and bacterial harboring. Especially in demanding environments like kitchens, where hygiene is paramount, this material’s stain-resistance outperforms granite by up to 60%. This remarkable balance of aesthetic uniformity and top-tier performance makes solid surface countertops an ideal choice for professionals seeking durability without compromising on design.

How Solid Surface Countertops are Made?

Countertops serve a purpose beyond mere aesthetics in daily applications. They should not only be visually pleasing but also sturdy, resilient, and highly practical. The union of design elegance and robust performance in solid surface countertops stems from a meticulous choice of materials and a stringently managed production process.
Raw Material Selection: The cornerstone of a premium countertop is its raw material. We source 100% aluminum hydroxide powder exclusively from a distinguished, state-operated provider. This powder is not generic; it’s a precisely formulated combination with a 15+25+75 composition. The result? A countertop with a dense composition and minimal porosity, ensuring a lavish touch and reduced water retention, making it highly resistant to ordinary spills and blemishes.
Resin Choice: Our attention then shifts to the resin integral to the production. The preference for Isophthalic resin is strategic, given its exceptional resistance to discoloration. Its molecular structure, more stable than alternative resins, guarantees a superior texture, augmented hardness, and unmatched resistance against discoloration and external contaminants.

Key Features of Solid Surface Countertops

Formaldehyde-Free and Odorless

Our solid surface countertops prioritize eco-friendliness. Unlike traditional materials, we ensure a chemical-free production by using 100% aluminum hydroxide sourced from a reputable state-owned brand. This results in countertops free from harmful emissions, creating a safer culinary environment.

Seamless Design

The integration of 15+25+75 fine powder ensures that our countertops boast a seamless appearance. This meticulous blend guarantees the absence of visible joints, exuding a refined and harmonious aesthetic suitable for modern designs.

Stain Resistance

Given the high-density output from our ultra-fine powder, these countertops can resist most daily household stains. Whether it’s wine or lemon juice, a simple wipe ensures they remain spotless.

Easy to Repair

Accidents like scratching can’t tarnish the beauty of our countertops. Their high-density, pore-free surface enables straightforward repairs, making them durable and long-lasting.

Uniform Appearance

One of the merits of our method is the consistent appearance it guarantees. No unexpected patterns or variations, ensuring that what you choose is precisely what you get.

Heat Resistance

The incorporation of aluminum hydroxide not only enhances the appearance but also confers superior heat resistance. While protective measures are always recommended, these countertops can endure higher temperatures than many counterparts.

Moisture Resistance

Thanks to the non-porous surface, moisture stands no chance. This makes our countertops perfect for bathrooms, minimizing mold risks and ensuring longevity.

Easy to Clean and Maintain

Their smooth and pore-free surface simplifies cleaning. Often, a mere wipe-down retains their shine.

Can Be Easily Customized

Beyond the inherent benefits, customization stands out. Leveraging high-performance Isophthalic resin, known for its anti-yellowing properties and stability, our countertops present a fine balance between aesthetics and function. Poor quality resins yellow easily, but with our Isophthalic resin, not only is the yellowing reduced, but the overall texture, hardness, and resistance to pollution are also markedly enhanced.

Solid Surface Countertops vs. Other Man-Made Countertops

When it comes to choosing the right countertops, the plethora of options can be overwhelming. Solid surface countertops, we aim to clarify some distinctions between our product and other man-made materials, specifically focusing on three key points: durability, design, and cost.
Durability: While quartzite kitchen countertops are lauded for their toughness, they usually need to be sealed annually to prevent staining—a cost and time-consuming chore. Solid surface countertops are non-porous by nature. This inherent feature translates to zero annual sealing costs and less maintenance time. According to a study by the National Kitchen & Bath Association, 93% of homeowners found low maintenance to be a crucial factor in countertop selection.
Design: Various man-made materials offer different styles, but none can match the seamless design of solid surface countertops, making them the best choice for homeowners. This seamlessness is not just aesthetically pleasing; it is also functional. The lack of crevices and joins eliminates bacterial breeding grounds, addressing a significant concern as identified in a Harvard Health study, which notes that countertops are a leading surface for bacteria proliferation.
Cost: Finally, let’s talk about numbers. Solid surface countertops typically range from 40 to 75 per square foot, making them a more economical option compared to high-end quartz or granite that can go up to $150 per square foot. Thus, you don’t have to compromise on aesthetics or functionality to fit your budget.

Feature Solid Surface Quartz Laminate
Composition Acrylic and natural minerals Quartz crystals with resin Plastic laminate over particleboard
Look & Finish Smooth, matte; can mimic natural stone or be wholly unique Glossy with the appearance of natural stone Wide range, including patterns and colors; can mimic wood or stone
Durability Moderate; susceptible to scratches but can be sanded out Very durable; resistant to scratches and chips Moderate; can scratch and chip but is generally durable
Stain Resistance High; non-porous and stain-resistant Very high; non-porous and hard to stain Moderate; some resistance but can stain
Maintenance Low; easy to clean and can be refinished Low; easy to clean with no sealing required Low; easy to clean but cannot be refinished
Seams Can be made virtually seamless Visible seams Visible seams
Price Point Mid-range High Low
Installation Flexibility High; can be thermoformed into various shapes Moderate; custom cuts but not as malleable High; easy to cut and install
Environmental Impact Moderate; some sustainable and recycled options Moderate; energy-intensive production but durable lifespan Low to moderate; contains some recycled content, but not biodegradable
Lifespan & Warranty 10-20 years; warranties vary 10-30 years; warranties often included 10-20 years; warranties vary

2024.05.16 04:53 aKTaccount Business threatening to sue for damages on a Google review.

So back in January a spring in my garage broke. I contacted a company that had top reviews in the area (omaha nebraska) set up an appointment in which they were late for. I called the time of the appointment was told they where 30 mins behind. Called 45 mins later was told they where in the area. called an hour later was told they were 5 mins away. Called again an hour later and they answered as they were pulling up. They give me an estimate of $600 dollars I felt this was high but was informed they have a call fee which I did know about prior to them arriving. Decided I was in a hurry and just wanted it done. It took about 15 mins the guy even said that it was about a record for him. I paid, he left. I look up online later that for the area the repair is more commonly $300-$400. Decided I would write a review that they were late and that the business uses a call fee to make you feel trapped into over paying and gave a 1 star review. About a week later I got a call from the company about my review and they said they would offer $100 if I made it a 5 star review and took down my negative remarks. I turned down the offer, they called a couple more times about it and I continued to say no. Each time they would say " you were informed of the service fees, you agreed to pay, all our phone calls are recorded and you agreed over the phone." I admit I knew about the service fee. But I was never given an estimate over the phone. Now today I received a letter from an attorney that represents the company stating they intend to sue for slander if the negative review is not taken down, if I don't make a positive review, and I don't write an apology letter to the business owner. I checked my review which seems to have already been removed off Google, not by me, and my account doesn't have it saved either. I see no reason to write a positive review or an apology. My fear now is if I don't do anything it will just go to a default judgement with me owing court and lawyer fees and damages they feel they can quantify. How ridiculous is this and what should I honestly do at this point?

2024.05.16 04:50 In_Vino_Veritas1989 An absolute sh*t day for a brooklynite.

Just had 1 of the worst days ever. First off, my landlord is fixing hpd violations as well as installing new drywall over some lead, so my apartment is in an absolute turmoil. Then, I had to take my wife to see the doctor in the UWS and when we got there an hour and fifteen minutes later it turned out that the adress was for a Brooklyn medical office. So, fuck it, we missed an appointment, so we headed out to a sample sale 25 mins away and when I dropped my wife and kids off to go look for a parking, I got into a fucking accident with a yellow cab, it seems like its a 50/50 fault.
After all the insurance exchange and after waiting on wy wife , so she could buy absolutely nothing, we headed home. Since I was low on gas I decided not to refuel at the mobil on FDR, since it was $6 a gallon, fuck em, and set destination for home, hit a horrid traffic coming toward BK Bridge and then some toward Battery tunnel. And to top it all was directed into the Manhattan bound lane and somewhere in the middle of the damn tunnel, the traffic came to a stand still for 30 fucking minutes and since I was saving fuel I turned the car off and just got roasted in the hot car. Turned out there was a city bus that broke and had to be towed away.
Headed to lowes to get a laser level and some other shit for renovation, got home after another 35 minutes of traffic just to find the fucking box of the laser level empty. Fuck I am livid. Pored myself a healthy dose of Jamo and chased it down with some beer and still am fucking overloaded.
Sorry for the rant, but fuck its crazy sometimes to live here. Nevermind the gramatical errors after over 20 years, English is still not my first language

2024.05.16 04:48 weluckyfew Lawyer failed to deliver a demand letter - any grounds for malpractice? (Texas)

Trying to help a friend explore any possible avenues here -
She paid a "contractor" $14K for a new HVAC system. The system stopped working after a week and now she has been without any HVAC for months. She tried giving this man many opportunities to fix it, but finally had an HVAC professional come out for an estimate. They were shocked by the level of incompetence in the install - the guy had even installed the minisplit backwards. Told her it wasn't fixable and they would have to tear out the whole system and start from scratch. (I know a little about HVAC and even I could see the install was not even remotely professional)
So she hired a lawyer to sue the contractor - $2,000 to start. The lawyer told her not to do anything - don't do any repairs, don't try to chargeback the credit card, nothing. He told her he would send a demand letter as a first step and then start looking into the contractor's assets or possible liability insurance. The lawyer stated the man's address and she advised the lawyer that address was incorrect.
Weeks go by and the lawyer just keeps saying "We're waiting for a reply, these things take time, he has 30 business days to reply" - finally, after more than two months the lawyer says "Oh, that letter came back as undeliverable, nothing more we can do, too bad." They had sent it to the address she told them was wrong, and also took a ridiculous amount of time to tell her it wasn't delivered (when they would have known that within a week or two)
So she asks for her $2,000 back, and is told they are dissolving the law firm and maybe they can refund her a tiny bit of what she paid. She contacted the credit card company to see about a chargeback for the contractor's $14K (which the lawyer had told her to wait on) and finds out it's too late for a chargeback.
On top of all that, she spends 20 minutes online and is able to find the contractor's actual address, as well as his long trail of lawsuits and bankruptcies. That's how long it would have taken this lawyer to do their job correctly.
I know it's a longshot, but any chance she has a case for malpractice for the lawyer advising her not to pursue other remedies but then not doing their job?

2024.05.16 04:48 tab_rick 5 Types of Shower Wall Panels: How to Choose?

5 Types of Shower Wall Panels: How to Choose?
Undertaking a bathroom renovation is a substantial commitment, both in terms of time and resources. Selecting the ideal material for your new shower wall is a critical decision that requires a balanced consideration of both functional attributes and aesthetic appeal. This comprehensive guide will provide you with an in-depth analysis of five distinct types of shower wall panels, outlining their advantages and disadvantages, to assist you in making an informed choice tailored to your specific requirements.

What Features Do Shower Wall Panels Need to Have?

Before getting all starry-eyed about the colors and textures, you have to consider some practical aspects. Here are some of the key features that any decent shower wall material needs to offer.

https://preview.redd.it/qmrvtf8zap0d1.png?width=612&format=png&auto=webp&s=a6b822b2798962f3d91793b64d72b0789c33e438

Water Resistance

Ensuring water resistance in shower walls is crucial, not merely to prevent water splashes but to guarantee the material’s longevity and better durability. For perspective, well-sealed ceramic and porcelain tiles exhibit a water absorption rate of less than 0.5%, marking them as highly water-resistant. Conversely, materials like drywall can absorb water up to 10% of their weight, rendering them unsuitable for shower settings. Such high absorption can result in structural issues and mold proliferation, jeopardizing the wall’s structural integrity.

Mold and Mildew Resistance

Beyond aesthetics, mold issues and mildew present significant health risks. Research indicates that mold exposure can exacerbate respiratory conditions, particularly in asthma sufferers. Materials such as solid surface panels and acrylic inherently resist mold. Specifically, the non-porous nature of solid surface panels virtually eliminates mold growth opportunities, reducing mold presence by up to 99% relative to conventional materials.

Ease of Cleaning

Efficiency is paramount. On average, individuals allocate roughly 15 minutes weekly to shower cleaning. Materials like solid surface and acrylic can potentially halve this duration, courtesy of their smooth, non-porous attributes. In comparison, natural stone, due to its inherent porosity, demands more cleaning time, especially if not consistently sealed with a sealant. However, with diligent care and sealing, natural stone can offer enduring elegance and durability, lasting for a long time.

Durability

Optimizing the high durability of chosen materials is essential to ensure value for money. To illustrate, when adequately cared for, solid surface and porcelain tiles can endure for over 30 years. This lifespan surpasses many conventional materials by 50%, which may necessitate replacement or extensive upkeep within two decades.

What Types of Shower Wall Panels are Available on the Market?

Over the years, shower wall panels have evolved, presenting a diverse range of choices to meet individual preferences, requirements, and budgets. Traditionally, ceramic shower walls have been the go-to choice for many due to their timeless allure and low maintenance. Granite stands out for its inherent beauty and resilience, always maintaining its position as a preferred selection for those valuing both aesthetics and durability.
For those inclined towards high-end materials, natural stone walls—encompassing granite, marble, onyx, and travertine—offer an opulent, sophisticated touch to any bathroom. Recognized for their lasting lifespan, these exquisite materials are available in a variety of styles.
In recent times, the market has embraced novel materials. Acrylic panels, for instance, are steadily gaining popularity. Not only are they mold and mildew resistant, but they also simplify installation processes. Their diverse color and design spectrum offer a wide range of decorative possibilities. Solid surface panels, a newer addition, boast a sleek, uninterrupted appearance, which many homeowners find attractive. Notably durable and non-porous, they can adeptly replicate the look of natural substances.

Solid Surface Shower Wall Panels

In the realm of contemporary bathroom designs, solid surface shower wall panels stand as a beacon of luxury and practicality, invariably catching the attention of judicious homeowners. What exactly contributes to their remarkable qualities? Let’s explore.
Solid surface shower wall panels are the culmination of state-of-the-art technology intertwined with finesse and craftsmanship. These panels are meticulously fashioned using an exclusive blend of aluminum powder, sourced exclusively from a prestigious state-owned brand. This guarantees a composition boasting a pure 100% aluminum hydroxide foundation, completely devoid of any calcium powder inclusions. The distinct formulation of 15+25+75 fine powder facilitates the creation of high-density panels that exhibit a pore-free surface.
The resultant product is not merely a feast for the eyes but also provides a tactile experience that’s genuinely gratifying. A testament to its excellent engineering, the panels offer minimal water absorption, safeguarding against common bathroom problems such as stains and discoloration. The distinctive factor in these panels lies in the incorporation of high-grade resin, which plays a crucial role in determining the product’s longevity and aesthetics. Employing a lesser quality resin can precipitate yellowing over time; however, the utilization of Isophthalic resin in this context is noteworthy for its superior anti-yellowing prowess. This resin harbors a stable molecular structure, thereby promising a product that boasts a refined texture, augmented hardness, and unmatched resistance to yellowing and contamination, ensuring that the beauty of your shower space remains untarnished over time.

Waterproof

Water is a natural companion to showers, but without proper management, it can be detrimental to shower walls. Solid surface panels excel in this aspect. Their impermeable nature guarantees water resistance, safeguarding against potential damages and ensuring a long-lasting lifespan.

Easy to Maintain

Optimizing time is a priority in today’s fast-paced world, and solid surface panels offer a highly convenient solution for bathroom maintenance. Their sleek surface facilitates effortless cleaning, enabling you to maintain a pristine bathroom with minimal exertion over the years.

Stains and Discoloration Resistance

Bathrooms are susceptible to various staining agents, from hair dyes to diverse bathing products. Solid surface panels, composed of high-quality resin, are highly resistant to most stains. Their non-porous nature further minimizes the risk of discoloration, ensuring long-lasting aesthetic appeal.

Easily Customized

Solid surface panels offer a flexible foundation for homeowners to articulate their distinct design preferences. Whether your emphasis lies on a variety of colors, unique textures, or a particular design theme, these panels can be tailored to harmonize with your aesthetic vision, enhancing the visual appeal of your bathroom. Additionally, solid surface panels can mimic the appearance of natural materials, such as the patterns and colors of marble. This means you can achieve the luxurious look of marble easily.

Highly Durable

Given the infrequent yet substantial nature of bathroom renovations, durability is of utmost importance. Solid surface panels are constructed using premium materials, specifically designed to withstand high levels of moisture, mechanical impacts, and routine wear and tear. Solid surface panels, being highly durable, don’t warp or swell, ensuring that mold and mildew don’t find a conducive environment to grow. A highly durable surface will resist staining, scratching, and other routine damages that lesser materials might succumb to.

Anti-Mold

Mold is not only aesthetically unappealing but also poses potential health risks. The non-porous nature of solid surface panels serves as an effective barrier against mold proliferation, thereby promoting a healthier and cleaner bathroom environment for you and your family.

Antimicrobial

Beyond mold resistance, solid surface panels are engineered with the capability to resist a wide range of microbial agents. This intrinsic antimicrobial property further enhances the hygiene and safety of your shower area, reducing the likelihood of bacterial growth and subsequent

Acrylic Shower Wall Panels

Acrylic panels have garnered significant attention in the home improvement sector due to their combination of cost-effectiveness, longevity, and visual appeal. They are frequently utilized in bathroom upgrades. But what are their inherent characteristics and advantages?
Acrylic shower wall panels are fabricated from a heat-treated thermoplastic compound, resulting in a consistent sheet. These panels are recognized for their polished finish that not only elevates their visual appeal but also offers a mold and mildew-resistant surface. A notable feature of acrylic panels is their ability to mimic various materials. With a wide selection of different colors and patterns, they are a preferred choice for home interiors. For those seeking the aesthetics of natural stone or ceramic at a reduced cost, acrylic stands as an excellent alternative. Moreover, when using individual acrylic sections, a secure and watertight seam between panels can be achieved.

Lightweight and Easy to Install

Acrylic panels are notably light, making them ideal for DIY projects. Their installation is uncomplicated, eliminating the need for a professional team. This results in time and labor cost savings.

Easy to Clean

The sleek finish on acrylic panels is both aesthetic and functional. It prevents the adherence of water droplets and soap residues. Cleaning is effortless, only requiring a damp cloth without the need for strong chemicals or intensive scrubbing.

Affordable

Opting for acrylic panels provides a balance of style and utility without straining your budget. They represent excellent value, given their durability and low maintenance needs.

Waterproof

Acrylic panels inherently resist water due to their non-porous composition. They’re an optimal choice for moisture-prone areas like showers. Their design, having fewer seams than conventional tiles, minimizes the chances of leakage.

PVC Shower Wall Panels

Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) may initially seem complex by name, but within the realm of bathroom refurbishments, it represents economical and functional choices. Let’s delve into the details of PVC shower wall panels.
PVC shower wall panels, fabricated from a plastic-derived material, are both lightweight and cost-effective, catering to a broad spectrum of homeowners. Their diverse design and finish options facilitate various aesthetic goals, from contemporary to classic, without incurring the expenses of higher-end materials.

Lightweight

One of the standout features of PVC panels is their weight. Being incredibly lightweight, they’re easy to transport and handle, which is a boon for DIY projects. This lightness doesn’t compromise their strength, though. They’re sturdy enough to stand up to daily shower use.

Water Resistance

Ensuring water resistance is crucial for shower areas. PVC panels, with their non-porous properties, guarantee this protection. They prevent water penetration, safeguarding against potential damage. Their design suits wet environments, promoting durability and minimizing maintenance needs.

Low Maintenance

PVC panels cater to individuals preferring minimal upkeep. Their sleek design facilitates effortless cleaning of dirt and residues. Additionally, their resistance to mold and mildew ensures a hygienic bathroom ambiance.

Cost-Effective

Are you working within a budget? PVC panels present an optimal solution. As one of the most cost-effective materials available, they combine resilience and aesthetic appeal without straining your finances. They stand out as a top choice for those seeking quality and affordability.

Fiberglass Shower Wall Panels

Fiberglass, a material with a rich history, has become a favored selection for numerous homeowners, especially in the fabrication of shower wall panels. But what attributes contribute to its distinction?
Fiberglass shower wall panels are meticulously manufactured through a process of intertwining delicate glass fibers to form a textile-like base, subsequently reinforced with a resin compound. This technique yields a product that combines lightness with robust strength. Furthermore, these panels frequently feature a gel-coat surface layer, optimizing the texture and augmenting its resistance to water penetration.

Lightweight But Strong

The beauty of fiberglass lies in its paradoxical nature. It’s incredibly lightweight, making it easy to handle and install. Yet, its strength is commendable. This balance ensures that homeowners don’t have to compromise on durability when opting for easier installation.

Stains Resistance

Nobody likes a stained shower wall. Fiberglass panels, with their gel-coat surface, resist most common bathroom stains. Whether it’s soap scum or hard water marks, a simple wipe is often enough to keep the panels looking pristine.

Easy to Install

For those who love a good DIY project, fiberglass panels are a dream. Their lightweight nature combined with their flexibility ensures that installation is straightforward. No need for specialized tools or professional help, making them a cost-effective choice.

Tile Shower Wall Panels

Tiles have long been a foundational element in bathrooms. Their adaptability and visual appeal have endeared them to homeowners for generations. However, when discussing tile shower wall panels, we are highlighting a contemporary adaptation of this timeless choice.
Tile shower wall panels are large, unified panels designed to emulate the appearance of individual tiles. These panels capture the beauty of traditional tiles without the complexities of individual tile placement, grouting, and associated drawbacks. Constructed from materials like porcelain and ceramic, these panels deliver a cohesive appearance while preserving the allure of conventional tiles. Furthermore, they serve as an excellent substitute for glass tiles on shower floors, especially in homes with children or seniors, due to their enhanced grip and minimized slip risk.

Highly Customizable

One of the standout features of tile panels is their customizability. They come in a plethora of designs, colors, and textures. Whether you’re aiming for a contemporary look or a vintage vibe, there’s a tile panel out there that fits the bill. This flexibility ensures that homeowners can achieve their desired bathroom aesthetic with ease.

Higher Cost

Quality often comes at a price. Tile shower wall panels, given their aesthetic appeal and durability, tend to be pricier than some other options like PVC or acrylic. However, many homeowners find the cost justified, given the longevity and upscale look they offer.

Require Regular Cleaning

While tile shower wall panels eliminate the hassle of grout lines, they still require regular cleaning to maintain their shine. Water spots, soap scum, and other bathroom residues can dull their appearance over time. Regular cleaning ensures they remain the centerpiece of your bathroom.

Why Solid Surface Panels Stand Out?

Among the variety of shower wall panel options, solid surface panels are often identified as the best option for a wide array of homeowners. These panels come in multiple finishes, including both glossy and matte, to accommodate a range of aesthetic tastes. 2024.05.16 04:45 Transparent_Prophet I don't know what to think about the company I got an offer from...

It's a subsidiary startup, led by a Japanese and deals with IT products, with an estimate of 25-30 employees. The parent company is also Japanese owned with a total of 500+ employees.
I was presented an IT Engineer position which offers 60% increase compared to my previous job which has the typical minimum entry level IT wage in my country. They also have the whole "after 1 year, you can transfer to our parent company" but I told them I'll stay local for a few years.
I'm... wary about working in startups because I got burned in my first and previous job, a small company. Fast paced but never felt like I had an impact. I was given a project then was left to my own devices with little assistance (I asked many times, they can't provide much help).
Can't say for certain but I felt some disorganization during the face-to-face interview because my interviewers are also recent graduate hires (in fact, I felt like majority of employees are in IT). It doesn't say anything, I know, but that still left an impression. There's also the fact that it's Japanese-owned and I heard some horror stories about their work-life balance... which could be double the horror since it's a startup that was only founded this January.
Seriously, I don't know what to do...

2024.05.16 04:44 Easyfiling Understanding the Importance of an EIN Number

What is an EIN Number?

An Employer Identification Number (EIN), also known as a Federal Tax Identification Number, is a unique nine-digit number assigned by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to businesses operating in the United States. It functions similarly to a Social Security Number (SSN) for individuals and is used to identify a business entity for tax purposes.

Why Do You Need an EIN Number?

1. Tax Reporting

The primary reason for obtaining an EIN is to comply with federal tax reporting requirements. Businesses use their EIN to file various tax returns, including income, employment, and excise taxes. Without an EIN, a business cannot meet its tax obligations, which could result in penalties and legal issues.

2. Business Banking

Most financial institutions require an EIN to open a business bank account. Having a separate bank account for your business is crucial for managing finances, tracking expenses, and maintaining clear records for tax purposes. An EIN ensures that your business's financial activities are distinct from your personal finances.

3. Hiring Employees

If you plan to hire employees, you'll need an EIN to report employment taxes. This includes withholding and remitting federal income taxes, Social Security, and Medicare taxes. An EIN is also necessary when issuing W-2 forms to employees at the end of the tax year.

4. Applying for Business Licenses and Permits

Certain business licenses and permits require an EIN during the application process. This can include state and local licenses, as well as industry-specific permits. Having an EIN simplifies the application process and ensures that your business is compliant with regulatory requirements.

5. Establishing Business Credit

An EIN is essential for building your business's credit profile. When you apply for credit, lenders and suppliers will use your EIN to check your business's credit history. A strong business credit profile can help you secure loans, negotiate better terms with suppliers, and attract potential investors.

6. Forming a Corporation or Partnership

Corporations, partnerships, and certain types of limited liability companies (LLCs) are required to have an EIN. Even if you're a sole proprietor, obtaining an EIN can provide numerous benefits, such as protecting your identity and separating your personal and business finances.

7. Compliance with IRS Requirements

Certain types of businesses, such as non-profit organizations, estates, trusts, and farmers' cooperatives, are mandated by the IRS to obtain an EIN. Ensuring compliance with these requirements is essential to avoid potential fines and legal complications.

How to Obtain an EIN

Obtaining an EIN is a straightforward process. You can apply online through the IRS website, by mail, fax, or over the phone. The online application is the quickest method, and you will receive your EIN immediately upon completion. There is no fee for applying for an EIN.

Conclusion

An EIN is a vital component of running a business in the United States. It enables you to fulfill tax obligations, hire employees, open business bank accounts, apply for licenses and permits, establish business credit, and comply with various regulatory requirements. Whether you’re starting a new business or restructuring an existing one, obtaining an EIN should be one of your top priorities.

2024.05.16 04:40 tirzbeau Week-In Review: SlimDown Rx

Week-In Review: SlimDown Rx
Alright it’s going on my second week with SlimDown Rx and I’m frequently asked about the medication so far so here’s a rundown of FAQ.
  • Any side effects? None thankfully.
  • Are you losing weight? Yes.
  • How much? I’ve lost about 6lbs that week.
  • Is it effective? Yes, it has the same active ingredient as branded and other compounds. It’s just as effective as the rest..just cheaper! Yay!
  • How long have you been using the meds? This is my second soon to be third week.
  • Did you grow a third arm? Sadly no.
  • Am I being compensated? Sadly no.
PRICE INCREASE ?!?!? THEY’RE SCAM?!?! Yes, SlimDown Rx has increased their prices. When I made my original review a week ago, SlimDown was still a relatively small company but then there was a surge of new customers. In order to efficiently supply their demand, new doctors were hired which is what led to a $20+ price increase. Along with their new staff members, I read upgraded shipping to be a new feature that contributed to their price increase as well. I can understand the disappointment, but I can also understand that they’re still a growing company. On a good note, if you made an appointment prior to 05/26/24 their original prices will be honored for your order.
  • Packaging? Can I see a photo? Sure. It should be at the top, but I’m old I forget how this works.
  • Is that styrofoam? Yes, it’s for protection.
  • What’s in that green bag? Syringes and alcohol pads.
  • Um, what’s that blue bottle? Your vial is placed in there. (I love it)
Feel free to ask me any other questions about the tirzepatide or packaging.

2024.05.16 04:36 MangoStickyRice10 Current job lacking growth opportunities/won’t acknowledge my potential

Relevant info: I’m about to turn 23 years old and I’ve been graduated from my Bachelor of Commerce degree for a little over a year now.
I’m currently working an administrative position at a local organization. I was slightly overqualified for position when I applied (it didn’t require a Bachelors), but it’s similar to roles I’ve held and I’m good at admin work. I really like my team and the organization’s mission, but right now I’m really torn on how they handle my opportunities for career growth at the org. I’ve worked there for 9 months now, and consistently received great feedback from the whole team - I’ve been willing to take on anything (in or outside of my job description), super efficient and accurate in completion of my assigned tasks, and all around an ‘amazing asset to the team’.
SO: the team recently had a position open up for a role 1 (maybe 1.5) step above mine. Based on the role’s job description, I fit the requirements (one of which is a Bachelor of Commerce) and I already do about 25% of that job within my existing role (a higher % of it now that the position is vacant). I expressed interest in the role, and was originally met with positive feedback, but now it has shifted to “Well, we’re just not sure we want to give that role to such a ‘new grad’” (even though there are zero years of experience required in the existing job description). We are a small (8 staff) organization, so this is the only position I ever saw myself moving into as a promotion opportunity.
Today, I talked to my manager about the potential to gain a new title/responsibilities within my existing role (if they didn’t want to give me the open, higher level position). My manager (who is Director level) said “it’s a lot of work to request the position title change through the Board” and they “couldn’t promise anything but would see what they could do”.
This response, frankly, just doesn’t feel like enough to me. I am confident that I could excel in the open role, I have proved it, and I know they REALLY don’t want me to leave the company (I have been told this). But if they don’t want to give me that promotion, it seems like there is no other path out of admin work at this organization. My supervisor says “you have growth opportunities here”, but it doesn’t feel like I do. Am I being unreasonable to expect more from them? Any recommendations on how you would handle this?
