2024.05.15 15:02 Iweon Go-Rin: a ball sport for l5r 4e

First, I known some of my players follow this sub. If you see this post: pshhhh, don't read. You know this is comming, but don't spoil it :p
So. In a recent campain, I want to have a sports event, and I decided to create a sport so my players can have fun trying their new stats (they just go a lot of xp). What I've come up is a bit of a mix between basketball and handball, and I would love to have some feedback on it. It goes as follow:
Terrain: 40 × 20 cases (1c = 1,5m) Basically a basket ball terrain lines the size of a handball terrain + 3 ring at different heights on each side of the terrain.
Rules 3vs3, 4vs4 or 5vs5 Start of the game • Each team define a leader • The leaders go in the start circle, at the cemter of the terrain, all other player can go where they want in their zone. • Both leader do an initiative test. The leader with the highest init score has the ball at the start.
Points Points are calculated as zone×ring Each time a team marks Points, the adversary get the ball, starting from their ring zone. The team with the most point at the end of the game wins.
Rounds and Turns 1 match is 10 round (=6minutes) • The team with the ball has the first turn. • Turns alternate between each team, until all of the players played once, making it a full round. • Each team can decide of the turn order of its players however they want (exept for pass)
Actions Each player can make 1 action and 1reaction during its turn (only pass-receive can be done outside of turn). Possible actions are: • Dribble: move 2c×Water • Run (without ball): move 4c×water • Steal ball: brawl rules, on an adjacent case of the player with the ball. • Intercept: if a pass trajectory is within 2c×water of the player, he can try to intercept a pass. REF test, same ND as the pass. Reaction are: • Shoot: (Athletism+AGI)k(AGI), ND25 from zone2, ND35 from zone3. Default is ring 1, declare 1Aug for ring2 and 2Aug for ring3. Can be intercepted. Only leader can intercept from zone0. • Pass (send, receive): Passer define a trajectory. Both Passer and Receiver make a (Athletism+AGI)k(AGI) test, ND is number of cases of trajectory times 2 for passer, 20 for receiver. If either fails, the ball is on the ground. • Drop or Pick Up ball (if the ball is on the ground, must be in the same case of the ball for pick up)
Postures Must be declared at the end of the turn. If nothing is said, water is assumed. Water: default Fire=Attack: cannot steal ball or intercept. Distance covered with Dribble is doubled. Air=Steal: cannot Driblle, +1g1 for intercept and steal tests Earth=Defend: can't do any action or reaction except steal ball. Chose an adversary player on an adjacent case and inflict -2g1 to all tests and -1Water for Dibble and run to this player. Follows the chosen player to the limit of its capacity (cannot exceed its own water run action). If the target is not on an adjacent case anymore, the posture is broken and back to the water posture. Void=Goal: 1 turn without doing anything, next turn : +2g1 for shoot
(Sorry, formating is so bad... I am on mobile, I'll edit it to look better as soon as I am on my computer)

GSW retool, MIL gets defense, CHI loses deadweight
Bucks:
Get a certified vet athletic perimeter stopper in GP2, a young ball handler prospect, and recoup some draft capital to maybe flip in a trade again.
Bulls:
Basically swap Lavines albatross contract for Wiggins, who fits better next to Coby White, is almost 20 mil less a year, and has at least been shown to play winning basketball on a championship team; cp3 expiring, which could maybe even been flipped again, and a young 3&D wing. Losing Caruso sucks, but at 30 y/o he shouldn’t be part of the long term plan anyways.
Warriors:
Take a big risk on a number-2 scorer next to Steph. Add defense, shooting, and size, while retaining the core 3, and some of the future assets (JK, TJD, and multiple first round picks). With some reworking around the edges (like partially guaranteeing looneys contract), the warriors get under the second apron, and maybe even the first, while staying competitive and not auctioning off the entire future.
Start: Steph Lavine kuminga draymond Bobby Portis
Bench: Caruso, Klay, Heismith, TJD looney
Not saying it’s a top contender, but could they be in the mix like Miami the next few years? I think so.

2024.05.15 13:56 In_Yellow_Clad If At First You Don't Succeed -- Part 110

[prev]
As it stood, my crazy plan certainly seemed to resonate with the gathered leaders, though they did offer their own suggestions as to how best to implement improvements and contingencies. I of course welcomed each and every one of them, then debated their merits and as the hours flew by we weeded out the ideas that simply would not work and expanded on those that would.
It was quite honestly refreshing to not have to do all the thinking for once, it felt nice to do a little outsourcing as one might describe it. Besides, as many would say I only had one point of view, well, two if we’re being literal, that of a human and an arachne, the former coming from a world without magic and monstrous beings like those I had surrounded myself with.
Their unique viewpoints had offered a wealth of possibilities and were in their own ways invaluable to the war effort. I am glad that they all managed to get along as well. I had seen no hint of animosity or long held grudges between any of them, not even the age old and quite frankly stereotypical hostility between the elves and dwarves had reared its head. In fact, the two races had seemingly fed into each other's ideas with excited glee, and I had almost expected there to be a bout of mad cackling near the end of their ramblings.
Of course now the meeting was over and we were all starting our preparations. The basic prep wouldn’t take that long, ensuring our warriors were all well supplied, their weapons and armor at peak quality before the battle was paramount. It was everything else about the plan that would take time, time we must ensure we had if we were to succeed. And so I headed for the Aberrant Spire, a place I had not been in a long time.
As I followed the streets I was reminded of my first delve into this city, back when it was fully under the control of vile abominations. I paused, looking at a short building on my right, large claw marks scoring the wall near the lip of the roof. I remember one of those beasts had attempted to climb up to get me as I traversed the rooftops.
Remembering that I felt a shiver run down my spine and issued a silent word of thanks that such horrors no longer existed in my new home, that vibrant life had returned to these hallowed streets. It was a place of hope now, not terror.
It was with this remembering of certain facts that I began looking for a faster means of travel to reach the Spire, as walking would be a long and arduous task indeed. Thankfully this was something that was already thought of, for as I meandered through the streets in my search I came across a somewhat raised walkway, except this walkway had a pair of lines worked from crystal or metal, I couldn’t rightly tell which, running through it.
I paused, wondering how I had never seen this thing before and in doing so I bore witness to its purpose. A merchant with a large wagon approached a circular pattern on the walkway, ensured his wares were well secured and then spoke a destination. At once a ball of energy surrounded him and the wagon, raising it all off the ground and then sending him zipping along, following the right hand line. Even as I watched, another traveler came from the opposite direction, the magic wrought into the pathway depositing them gently off to one side and they continued on their merry way.
I had to wonder why thing wasn’t around the first time I had come here, though the more I looked at the construction the stone looked somewhat fresh, perhaps it was simply a new addition and not something from the city’s past. Either way, it looked mighty useful so I stepped into the circle and took a deep breath.
“The Aberrant Spire.” I spoke clearly, and felt myself go weightless. The magic ball of energy formed around me, lifting me off solid ground and leaving me floating, which certainly triggered a slight fear response from my arachnid instincts. I was moved into position and then shot forward. It took all I had to not scream, sudden fear turning into excitement as my human experiences harkened back to several amusement park visits as a kid and getting to ride the roller coasters.
Though instead of loop the loops and corkscrews it was naught but straight lines and gentle curves that weaved through and over the city streets. Everything was a blur and yet I hardly felt it, really all that I felt was a vague sense of motion in my gut and the wind pulling at my hair, but that was it. I did see the spire come into view however, and steadily it grew larger and larger till at last it dominated the skyline.
My breakneck pace started to slow and just as it had with the other traveler, the magic gently shifted me to one side and then put me down softly. I found my legs were incredibly wobbly and as such I simply stood there and waited for the wobbling to cease. Once it had I stepped off the platform and down onto the street proper, finally taking in the sights as it were.
If the areas around the palace and the rest of the city were for merchants, common folk and nobility, then this area was almost exclusively inhabited by those with magical talents. I saw robed figures flitting to and fro, some hovering along on disks of light or wind, one even walked into a shadowy patch and vanished, presumably reappearing elsewhere. And over it all loomed the Spire, still as pretty and strange as it had been, though it seemed to glow with newfound life and vigor.
The teleporter complex seemed in working order as well, though it would have to be since new mages had taken up residence in the spire above. I made for the complex, many mages who had been engrossed in walking and thinking doing double takes as I passed. I simply nodded at each in turn and continued on my merry way, entering the complex and getting bombarded by the sounds of a busy building. Pages and mages zipped about, conducting their various tasks as they did, stepping into or out of the teleporters as needed. It felt almost like that one time I’d visited Grand Central, boy hadn’t that been fun.
I decided that I should probably get some directions to the person that would be most suited to help me with my plan, really whomever happened to be in charge of this place would be perfect for that and so I stepped up to a circular desk that seemed to be staffed by a mixture of elves, dwarves, humans and even a slime person, the latter wobbling in place and simply shifting their features about to face anyone that spoke to them.
I stopped before an elf, the woman looking up and recognition dawning on her face as she beheld me.
“Y-Your majesty! What brings you all the way out here?” She stammered even as she made to stand and bow. I waved her back down into her seat with a smile, the elf sinking back down into her seat.
“I have business with whomever is in charge of the Spire and I have found that I have no idea who that happens to be. I was hoping to change that, and get directions as well.”
The woman nodded, still a bit frazzled thanks to an unannounced visit by royalty.
“I-I can do that, a moment please your majesty.” She said, hunching over a large book that sat before her and furiously flipping through it. Once she found what she needed, she opened a drawer and pulled out what looked like some sort of talisman, setting it down before me on the desk. “Firstly, this will identify you as not only an authorized visitor to the spire, but also as royalty. Granted we all know you are but the spire itself wouldn’t and so would treat you as an intruder if you didn’t carry this with you at all times. And considering your authority over us all, it will allow you to access areas that would be otherwise restricted to normal visitors.”
As she explained its function I picked the talisman up and looked it over. It was a simple thing, not too gaudy though I couldn’t help but notice a coat of arms upon it that had a distinctly arachne flavor to it. I could swear I’d seen it before somewhere else, perhaps that would have to be something else I looked into later.
“I can call an escort for you, they can guide you right to the Archmage.” The receptionist spoke, snapping me from my thoughts as I affixed the talisman to my breast.
“That won’t be necessary, a map will suffice. I am an adventurer first and a queen second after all.” Chuckling, I watched her nod and pull a sheet of parchment towards her, a hand hovering over the surface and magic flowing from her palm onto the page. What looked like ink appeared on it, which then took the shape of the current room I resided in. Words even appeared, informing me that I could use any of the teleporters I wished.
“The man you are looking for is Archmage Yesric. As far as I know he doesn’t have any pressing duties today so you should find him sequestered in his office.” The receptionist rose and bowed again, keeping her hunched over pose even as I started to walk away.
“Thank you, you’ve been most helpful.” I said. I took a subtle look over my shoulder and was relieved to see that she’d sat back down and was currently in the midst of furious conversation with her coworkers. Which was fair, not every day a member of royalty comes asking for help right?
Stepping into the teleporter I was promptly deposited into the halls of the Spire, which now bustled with activity. Mostly staff it seemed, though I spotted several gaggles of younger folk all dressed in something reminiscent of school uniforms rushing through the halls, their expressions belying a desperate desire to reach their destination as quickly as possible. I had heard nothing about the spire being used as some sort of school, though I suppose it only made sense to train the next generation of magic users in a place where magic was dominant.
Looking down at the map I’d been provided, I was pleased to see that my current position was reflected upon its surface. But now there was a handy dandy guiding line that pointed down a hallway to my right. And so without further ado, I followed it. People naturally got out of my way, though whether that was because I took up most of the hall or because they knew who I was I wasn’t sure, either way I did my best to not impede their progress too much.
Turning a corner I was suddenly met with an empty hallway, one that slowly began to fill with black smoke. My gut twisted and my head felt heavy, my eyes began to flutter and then I blinked, the hallway was bustling with people, no longer filled with the smoke. I licked my lips, trying to shake the ghosts of the past and move forward, though my legs couldn’t help but shiver slightly with every step I took.
Floor by floor I made my way closer to my target, till eventually I was directed through a door into what looked like every executive's office that I’d ever seen, just with a fantasy twist to it. Or rather, it was the little office for a secretary that I entered, which presumably meant that through the next door was what I was looking for.
A bespectacled goblin lass looked up from a large tome and blinked at me, her eyes rather enlarged thanks to the lenses that sat before them.
“Can I help you?” She drawled tiredly, and I stepped up to a good distance from her desk.
“Yes, I’m here to speak with the Archmage.”
“I do not recall setting any meetings today. May I ask who wishes for this audience?” She said, flipping through another much smaller tome that sat nearby.
“Safa Eventra.”
She continued to look through this smaller book, before freezing, her head slowly turning towards me. Now she really seemed to be looking at me and I could only smile politely back at her.
“A-Apologies your majesty, a moment if you please, I must inform the Archmage of your presence.” She said, hopping down off her chair and scampering hurriedly towards the other door. I didn’t say anything, instead just engaging in the arachne equivalent of rocking back and forth on my heels. She slipped through the door and I could hear muffled speech before several loud thuds and some not so muffled cursing ensued. The goblin secretary appeared, leaning against the door after closing it.
“The archmage will see you in just a moment, your majesty.” She said, resuming her post and doing her best to look professional for me.
“That’s quite alright, I’m in no rush.” I responded, humming softly to myself as I looked around the room. A moment later, I heard a voice call out from the office and since that was my cue, I bowed my head to the secretary and stepped through the door into the archmage's office.

2024.05.15 12:33 reiayanamicoming Are there more youth who want to become NBA players because of the absurd salaries that guys like Jokic, Doncic etc get.

Like sure basketball was always popular. But then you see that Doncic and Jokic will make like 500m + euros(converted) in their careers by dribbling a ball. And be that rich before 40.
And then you are 7 foot tall and wonder.. Shit I want some of that
Even role player guys make like 80m+ their careers.
Shit I wish I was an nba player.
Your life would be peak from high school+ beyond with no low sides.

2024.05.15 09:24 Sacrifice_a_lamb Ky Slime Review (good and bad) with Pics

Ky Slime Review (good and bad) with Pics
I actually have been waiting to review a few shops, since I think it might be nice to live with the slime for a while instead of writing a review that's just based on what the slime was like when I first got it. But today I got an order from Ky and I've got things to say about it lol!
Rambling preamble (skip to review) First off, I had heard rumblings of discontent about this shop, but also had heard aspersions cast about Sonria and I found her slimes to be pretty good. So, I was open to Ky, especially since she clearly is a master at designing DIY slimes. Her IG is a go-to ASMR source for me and her posts make the slime look irresistible! Seriously, for all you stores out there--make your slimes look good on the internet. You'll have so many more buyers.
While it's definitely obvious that the slimes that are played with on the IG are of larger quantities than what you will be getting when you order, her representation of the product otherwise looks pretty legit and she still has kind of a small, hand-made store vibe, which makes it easier to pay 16$ for a toy that may only last for a few months, right? She also has my dream slime--a neon space unicorns and rainbows sundae-themed slime tribute to Lisa Frank. This thing just looks so incredible. She really nailed the concept.
So, I made a big order because, shipping. there was a 10% discount and the prices didn't seem terrible, even with shipping. I placed my order on the 4th and it arrived today, on the 14th, which ten days feels acceptable for a small business in Hawaii. They didn't go crazy on the packaging, which at first made me glad (I do not feel good about all the bubblewrap so many folks use!) but then I saw that one of the clay containers had gotten smashed and the clay pieces inside were totally flattened. Honestly, nothing else had any damage and the clay was always going to get smooshed, anyway, so I'm not bothered, BUT, I dunno. Use bunched up newspaper or something.
It included a gift of two free "small" slimes. Really, they are like 3-4 ounces. Definitely a decent size for a sample and both slimes were pretty awesome, but I still have complaints...
My rating system is pretty "strict"--I'm stingy about perfect scores, but anything with a score over 15/20 is something I'd consider buying again.

Taro Milk Tea Cheesecake 10/20

Someone else reviewed this recently and loved it. I do not. I had initially hesitated to buy this because I like taro, but sometimes find the smell of taro-flavored things like mass-produced ice-cream disgustingly sweet, and I worried that this slime might smell this way. It does not. To me, it smells like boiled white potatoes with an undertone of glue. Not great.
The DIY kit came in a sealed bag and everything looked in good condition and matched the website photos perfectly. The boba balls slime, however, was so unactivated it was straight-up glue and I ended up having to SCRUB my hands in hot water to remove it. Even so, the assembly experience was fun and mixing was fun, as well. But the result is a mid slime. It is quite tough--so dense, but not terribly stretchy--and isn't much for bubble pops or other ASMR. The bobas are soft and squishy and that's cool.
I'd like it better if it didn't smell weird, OR I'd be fine with smell if I liked the texture of the slime more.

Tangulu 14/20

This came with giant, detailed charms and the giant fimos are beautiful and fun, but the clear slime was quite cloudy and yellow and for the price, that just seems like kind of a bummer. There's a fruity smell but the scent of the glue and maybe the add-ins overwhelms it. By itself, the smell isn't enough to deter me from playing with it. It is a stiff slime that tears easily, but it does stretch quite well if played with slowly. The slime is thick, so there isn't much noise from crunching, but it makes decent bubble pops.
Mainly, I just think there are other folks out there making what is basically this same slime, but I suspect that their versions smell better and maybe the quality of the slime is a little better, too.
https://preview.redd.it/rpcmvo5vij0d1.jpg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f0e5b01c3035436bfc92f52919cb9d181b3540b6

Slimereo Mug Cake 16/20

Super fun concept that was realized as a wonderfully detailed DIY kit. The clay oreo was in perfect condition and so detailed! This was a lot of fun to set up and then mix. Initially the oreo smell was spot on, but since I've played with it a couple of times, the chocolate smell has weakened somewhat and, again, there's just a strong glue smell.
The mixed slime is not bad. It is still pretty tough, but it doesn't rip when pulled fast and it gets pretty soft and fluffy with inflation. It's just still a little more dense than I prefer. It has a nice sizzle to it and even makes some pretty nice bubble pops with a bit of effort. It is moderately tacky, but not too bad and I certainly wouldn't add activator for fear of making it too tough.
https://preview.redd.it/msdobiqgjj0d1.jpg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b3ac9a0430db226839bf4c4a233030fbacc9e631

Boba Creme Donut 15/20

Another DIY kit that came in great shape. The clay donut was soft and everything assembled to make a beautiful, fun and interesting slime. Mixing was fun. The resulting slime is pretty close to that of slimereo Mug Cake, but instead of slakes of snow there are the tiniest mico-floam beads and some squishy bobas. I really like the way both feel and they seem to make this slime more pop-y than Slimereo. No sizzles, though. Bonus: this one doesn't smell bad! It smells like a caramel tea boba drink--lots of brown sugar and sweetened milk tea smells and then that sweet potato smell of boba.
but it's still a tougher slime that doesn't make a ton of noise.
https://preview.redd.it/le93bjv1jj0d1.jpg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2ddd6d6a6a35417a95a1e53f00977aa38a94bf93

Slime-Brite (jury's still out for me on this one)

This seemed like Ky's answer to Slime OG's steel wool-themed slime and Ky's having it honestly kind of tipped the scales for me buying from Ky instead of OG. Again, the presentation is fabulous--fun charms, great concept that is rendered in a fun, visually-striking way, cool label. The smell is definitely a convincing imitation of, like, Dawn dishsoap, which I like. I also realize that I just really like bingsu in slimes so I'm into this one, but it is still very sticky (I'm too afraid to add activator lest it become tough like other slimes in this order) and it is much tougher than the bingsu slimes I have from Seoul Gage. It's not tough by what I think are American standards, I'm just not used to it. It still makes great, bingsu crackles and I love how it looks and smells. If it gets a little less sticky without turning more tough, I might really love this one.
https://preview.redd.it/b1g7r4wkjj0d1.jpg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f4189637c261eb2feeda90a6693f53070f66ec6d
Which brings me to my next purchase:

My diet starts tomorrow 8/20

Again, super fun concept and so much detail! Everything was similar to the IG photos and in good condition except the clay pieces were a little hard, but it was fun to assemble and the slime components all seemed totally good to go. The smell is fine. The problem was mixing this produced a hard, rubbery slime--no stretch. I guess it was overactivated? I was ready to throw it out, but I had glycerine on hand so added maybe a tablespoon and that helped it, but it is still very tough. It does crinkle and crackle with the bingsu, but my hands hurt after just a couple of minutes of playing with it. Super not worth it, even with the amazing DIY element.
https://preview.redd.it/1bu63j11kj0d1.jpg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ffcc241bcb9766757516ba9ce82d8ff45e5d5a87

Sandy Beach 15/20

This was the one that had the damaged clay pieces. Honestly, it didn't spoil the assembly experience. In fact, I pulled off the clear slime from the sand crust and first mixed the clay into that and what an awesome expeirence! I really love how it looks to mix colorful clay into a clear slime base. This has a moderate "beachy" smell that isn't bad. I think I just don't like sand in slime. I was expecting something like a pumice slime, but instead it just seems to kill any ASMR effect: no bubble pops, no clicks, no sizzles. The clay pieces were dried out in places so there's also some un-mixed goobers in the slime and the slime is also quite tough.
https://preview.redd.it/hk9vgrztjj0d1.jpg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7d69e33a498878caf0ca80522fdece037b8e64c6

Birthday Cake Pop 18/20

This one kind of saved the order (and maybe slime-bright) and it was totally one I almost didn't get it. It smells like how it looks--like a super bright, artificial birthday cake smell, which is actually pretty great. I love how it looks--such a loud, happy pink and love the sprinkles and the look of the different-sized floam balls. I'm not sure this is it, but I believe the floam balls being different sizes gives this slime extra bubble pops. This is a shiny slime that I expected to be tough, and it is--but somehow now I like that quality? Maybe it's because there's such a huge ASMR pay-off. Like, I' even getting some whistles when I stretch it.
I'd give this guy a higher score but, again, I have perfect and near perfect (to me) slimes in my collection and this doesn't feel quite at the level. But it's also unlike any other slime I have and I suspect it will end up being a favorite. I whole-heartedly recommend this one!
https://preview.redd.it/xtnmqgw6jj0d1.jpg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c7470eb86ee0c6076ba8cf8a8ccb505b23c192ce
Free slimes were Lemon Loaf (with no clay piece, which maybe makes it better?) and Java Chip Frappe, also just the base. Again, these were large samples. I'm just grading them out of 10 because...I don't know? they were free and also they aren't, like, the version of the slimes you would be able to buy?

Java Chip Frappe (Jury is still out)

This is supposed to be a "jelly cream bingsu". It seems like a pretty thick, dense jelly with a tiny bit of bingsu. The bingsu are enough to produce some soft cracks and sizzles, so I really want to be abl to play with it, but it is way to sticky. It is already pretty thick, so I've only added a little activator so far, which hasn't helped much. Hoping this stops being so sticky without also turning into rubber. Smells is listed as chocolate chip cookie, but it smells more like khalua to me. At any rate, I like the smell.
https://preview.redd.it/7rczrp66kj0d1.jpg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2499c9709c64d6c9cc690909f554890f3431a6ff

Lemon Loaf 10/10

This is my favorite slime of the whole darn order. It is a highly resistant bingsu slime, but it really softens with inflation. Smells like a cake with a lot of artificial lemon flavor added to it, which sounds bad but it actually quite delicious. It looks great: a bright and cheery yellow that is broken up by specks of iridescence from the bingsu. Also, I love the lemon fimos! But, the cherry on top is the micro-floams! I love these tiny micro-floams that she uses. It may be psychosomatic, but I think they actually change the bingsu texture somehow? At any rate, this is a great, stretchy, inflating, crackling, squeezeable bingsu slime and I love it.

Conclusion:

I really don't know what to make of this store, guys. I mean, I have only 3 clear "would buy agains" (one of which I didn't even pay for) out of a total of ten slimes, so, objectively, I should not buy from them again, but... I don't know. I definitely would not have spent all this money at this store if I'd seen some of the reviews I've seen since making the order. The complaints seem to be the same as my own: hard clay, tought slime, not great smells.
On the other hand, the Birthday Cake Pops and the Lemon Loaf are so good that I might be persuaded to try Ky again.
I guess, part of me wonders if the slime is this way because she's cutting corners on ingredients or doesn't know how to make slimes well? But then the amount of work and care that goes into designing the slime just makes me think there's no way this person doesn't know what they are doing, so then I guess this is the way the slime is meant to be (not for the Diet one, though--that was straight up bad slime) and it just isn't for me, but who is it for? who likes tough slime that doesn't make much noise?
Would be curious to hear others' thoughts.

2024.05.15 09:09 Sheratain What’s with lifetime NBA professionals not knowing that a 24 second violation is a team turnover?

At the beginning of the pod tonight Bill and Justin Termine talked briefly about the final minute when KCP took the ball from Jokic so that he would get the turnover for the shot clock violation. What a great moment of team chemistry, etc. But…that’s not the rule? A shot clock violation is a team turnover, not individual, so it doesn’t matter who’s holding it. No one gets a turnover
In Bill’s defense, both Jamal Crawford and Reggie Miller—who have well over 50 years of professional basketball experience as players and broadcasters between them—also got it wrong during the broadcast. As did KCP, a vet with 2 rings, if that’s indeed what he was doing.
So the obvious question is: How do none of these guys know this very simple rule?

2024.05.15 08:57 Shoddy_While_6142 How Did Moreyball and Advanced analytics contribute to the Three-Point Revolution of the 2010s

How Did Moreyball and Advanced analytics contribute to the Three-Point Revolution of the 2010s
Shooting a below league average 34% from three-point range results in more points scored per 100 possessions than shooting an extremely efficient 50% from closer two-point range shots (NBA League Averages – Per Game, Basketball Reference). This simple fact was the number one driving force in Daryl Morey’s basketball philosophy.
The three-point line was added to the NBA in the year 1979, during Larry Birds rookie season. He quickly took to the shot and added it to his scoring arsenal, and despite taking an extremely small number of three-point shots compared to the leagues current shooting pace, was the first three-point shooting pioneer (Starjacki, Basketball Network), The next evolution in the three-point shot was the shortening of the line to a uniform 22 feet throughout. This lasted from 1994-97 and resulted in the data graphed in Figure. 1 below.

The NBA introduced this rule change to increase PPG throughout the league, as you can see, this change had an inverse effect (Burgess II, Red Bull). The rule was changed back, but it had a lasting effect, as players three-point conditioning improved, and coaches kept running plays focusing on three-point shooting. Figure 2, pictured below, shows how the number of three-point attempts per game continued to increase exponentially in the following seasons.

Shea, Stephen. “The Three Point Revolution.” 2018. Shot Tracker, shottracker.com/articles/the-3-point-revolution.
One of those early coaches who prioritized shooting the three-ball was Mike D'Antoni. His trailblazing philosophy was known as the “Seven seconds or less offence” (Koch, 2adays News). This game plan was first introduced to the Phoenix Suns playbook in the 2004-2005 season following the addition of Steve Nash, a three-point sharpshooter (2004-05 Phoenix Suns Transactions, Basketball Reference). In the following season, their win rate went from 35,4% (2003-2004 NBA Standings, Basketball Reference) to a league best 75,6% (2004-2005 NBA Standings, Basketball Reference). In a league era often referred to as the “Dead-Ball Era”, with defenses being the focus and league average PPG at an all-time low, this new, high pace offence broke defenses at the time. The Suns averaged 110,4 PPG during the 2004-05 season, while the league average at the time was 97,2 (2004-05 NBA Season Summary, Basketball Reference). The same trend can be seen with their pace, which was 96, while the league average at the time was 90 (2004-05 NBA Season Summary, Basketball Reference). Mike D'Antoni made the league realize that a higher pace offence prioritizing three pointers led to winning basketball.
But the three-point era could not truly begin until the dynasties of old were finished. The Tim Duncan and Gregg Popovich led teams, prioritizing classic big man basketball and slow offensive pace were still winning championships, as were the Kobe and Pau Gasol led teams of the late 2000s (The 2000's - Kobe or Duncan Era, RealGM). Together the two low volume three-point teams accounted for 10 out of 15 championships won between 1999 to 2014 and 13 out of 15 finals appearances (NBA Champions by Year, Fox Sports). The Lakers and Spurs still experienced success due to the lack of experienced three-point shooters in the league, and the raw talent and star power of their rosters.
The GSW (Golden State Warriors) dynasty began following the dismantling of these teams due to retirement and trades. Following the Warriors drafting of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, two three-point shooting specialists who are cited as the two greatest shooters of all time, and hiring of coach Steve Kerr, one of the greatest three-point shooters of the 1990s, the team began seeing unprecedented success in a league-wide era of high parity (Olojede and Hay, Complex). The Warriors went from a team with a 35%-win rate (2011-2012 NBA Standings, Basketball Reference) to a team with an 81,5%-win rate (2014-15 NBA Standings, Basketball Reference) in the span of 2 years, from 2012 to 2014. By the 2014-15 NBA Season, teams were more likely to shoot a three-point shot than a mid-range one, for the first time in league history (Shea, Shot Tracker).
During the 2015-16 season, the Warriors had the winningest NBA season of all time, having a 73 win and 9 loss record (2015-16 NBA Standings, Basketball Reference). This was the tipping point, and in the next 5 years three pointers attempted per game increased from around 19 to 30 (Fig. 2 above). Mike D'Antoni was still a vital centerpiece to this, as he coached James Harden who led the Houston Rockets. Harden is considered one of the 3 greatest shooters of all time (3PM All Time Leaders, NBA). Both the Warriors and Rockets achieved amazing success, with the Warriors winning 4 championships and making 6 finals in a 7-year span (NBA Champions by Year, Fox Sports). Daryl Morey, inventor of the Morey ball philosophy, was the GM of the Rockets at this time, and he created the three-point centric rosters built around sharpshooter James Harden (Ballard, Sports Illustrated). His Houston Rockets hired Mike D'Antoni to help build a strong offensive playbook built around three pointers, as he had previously proved his capability of doing on the Suns (O'Connor, Sports Illustrated). The D'Antoni Rockets completely avoided the mid-range shot, and under him they went from three pointers accounting for 1/3 of their shots to almost half (O'Connor, Sports Illustrated).
In today's league, three-point shooting dominates, with sharpshooters being highly valued and needed on any team looking to achieve legitimate title contention. During the 2023-2024 season, 37% of shots taken were from three-point range (Zillgitt, USA Today), and only 12% were taken from mid-range (Martin, NBA). This data clearly shows the impact analytics have had on the game, showing how data analysis led to the death of the mid-range. This graph below, compares three-point percentage and win rate percentage:
https://preview.redd.it/52d0ipz2gj0d1.png?width=752&format=png&auto=webp&s=3875dc274c9207a7eeec6f8b56bfcb3db483c2fe
Created by Author, Data from: (2023-2024 NBA Season Summary, Basketball Reference).
This data clearly shows that as a three-point percent increases, so does win rate, with very few outliers, none being extreme.
In conclusion, I have found that Daryl Morey, the GSW, and Mike D'Antoni were the main contributors towards the three-point revolution. D'Antoni was involved every step along the way and has been in the background of [almost every]() evolution in three pointers in the last 30 years. Morey ball had less of an impact then I previously thought, but Morey’s work on advanced analytics led to his aggressive pursual of James Harden and his eventual trading to the Rockets, as his philosophy led to him seeing his true value in the numbers before anyone else could. The Warriors proved that a team built around three-point shooting could experience unprecedented success in an era of all time high league wide parity and showed that a dynasty is still possible.

2024.05.15 08:21 tomusurp Best Outdoor Basketball Shoes for my Playstyle and Foot Mobility?

I started playing ball again after a decade. So far this week been playing in my Lakai skate shoes and some cheap Zara fashion sneakers that look like Adidas Sambas. It feels alright for bball or maybe I'm just so used to skate shoes by now. Back in high school I would ball in some Melo shoes, which were pretty good but those days I would get injured occasionally like ankle rolls etc.
So far knock on wood haven't had that issue this week maybe since I'm an adult now and bones are stronger after a good amount of calisthenics and some taekwondo. But these days I wonder if basketball shoes are even ideal for basketball type of footwork? Or it's just fashion business?
Anyway I still want to test out a pair. I've been reading this subreddit, I see a lot of people recommending to go with chinese brands for outdoor play like Lining, Anta, and 361 mainly. I see for USA brands people are recommending Harden and Dame. I don't want to travel to a sports shop so I'll just order online.
Basically my playstyle is a lot of slashing, quick footwork and dribbling moves. For shooting I do a lot of quick stepback shots. But I love to dribble and go 1v1. For me most important is decent traction on concrete courts, good foot mobility where my feet won't get jammed during quick movements.
I've looked at a bunch of sneakers, so far in my cart is Lining Speed 9, just based off it "seems" to be good for my feet, as in not so narrow and pointy like some shoes and price is good, but I'm willing to spend more for foot health if needed
Next up the All City 10-12 models all look good. Next the Anta Kyrie and GH models look solid along with 361 dinwiddie. Next I found some shoes on Temu and Aliexpress that look like the Speed / All City style I like and some have great reviews. They're about 20-30$, just curious has anyone tried balling in these type of shoes?

2024.05.15 08:07 jburley5 My thought’s as a non WNBA Fan.

  1. I’ve been watching the Women’s NCAA games for about 6 years now. The WNBA reminds me of the late 70s/very early 80s NBA bigs dominated a few athletic guards and paint packing basketball.
  2. Not sure if hand checking is illegal but I saw this all night in the 3 games I watched. Women were literally taking there forearm and guiding players in certain directions and it really hurts the guards and athletes. A big reason why this looks like above ⬆️ that era of basketball.
  3. The spacing was atrocious for most teams outside of the aces and Seattle. The paint was a clog fest in almost all the games.
  4. Seattle the Aces and even Minnesota was really good at swinging the ball to get open looks at times a lot of the other teams just try to go one on one or abandon a play way to early which lead to terrible shots and bad turnovers.
  5. The WNBA is growing the Women in college are getting better but until they open up the game a bit they won’t take the big leap needed for the casual fan.
  6. I will say the WNBA seems at times more physical than the nba especially the NBA regular season which is a joke.

2024.05.15 07:25 SlimeSpree A VERY Special Review (Rodem x Slime Spree Slimes!)

A VERY Special Review (Rodem x Slime Spree Slimes!)
I mentioned I had a very cool surprise that arose after my conversation with Rodem on my just-posted big review of their slimes. After a little discussion with the absolutely wonderful folks at Rodem, they agreed to collaborate with me on a very special couple of slimes. Not only did they create two dream slime scents and textures for me but they added them to their website too so I hope some of you got/get to enjoy them as well! You can catch my most recent mega review of Rodem right here!
Without further ado, the wonderful Rodem x Slime Spree slimes! (After a discussion with Rodem to explain the exact texture and scent I had in mind in detail, I knew this was going to be very special so I had to finally do it and go in for the 24oz sized jars (but they are on the website in the usual 7.5oz size too for $15.99.)
I don't know if you can tell from the pic but these are collosal 24oz jars! 😱

  • CLASSIC BUTTER (the quintessentially perfect butter texture, chou cream vanilla scented)
An ultra thick. ultra chubby, matte and completely non-sticky DREAM butter slime that smells divine. Whist having all the characteristics of a perfect butter with an ultra velvety-smooth surface and delightfully smooth stretches with massive inflatability, it also retains some clickiness for excellent finger pokes. Plus, due to this, the pops (which are often quite soft on a butter) remain loud, bassy and plentiful. Wonderfully inflatable with tons of crackly soft sizzles as you deflate. The only issue was that my muscles were screaming as I yielded and stretched this nuzzleable, giant pillowy ball of absolute marshmallow heaven, it was heavy at 24oz BUT I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT! 🥹🥰
I could weep at the scent, it is my favourite scent on the planet, vanilla whipped cream. It smells divine, just like the real thing! No hint of artificiality or chemicals, just pure, sweet bourbon vanilla. Nothing smells more warm, inviting and comforting to me than a good vanilla and I've tried every vanilla scented slime I could get my hands on looking for the perfect one. I've experienced some good ones but nothing compares to this, it's PERFECT! I can't believe that Rodem were able to achieve such a perfect vanilla like it came straight out the pod!
OK I'll shut up now and show you some pics! LOL!
First opened, the cute little butter charm looking teeny weeny in the giant pot!
Fresh out the jar.
Starting to stretch it out and watch it grow!
And grow...
And GROW! It had taken up most of my play area by this point, I had to put the jar to the side! 🙈 24oz is a wild amount of slime but I'd do it again for THESE perfect slimes!
I loved it SO much I ended up buying yet another jar from Rodem tonight like a crazy person! 😅 I would literally rather rotate this with itself for extended perfect play than play with any of my other butters! haha!!
  • STRAWBERRY FAT MILK (The perfect T&G, strawberry scented)
The PERFECT T&G. As much as I love extra, extra THICK T&Gs, you do pay the price with quieter clicks and, oh boy, I love loud, snappy clicks. This is a thick T&G but not so thick that you lose the clicks, just perfect. I got 24oz again and the pokes were insane, I could lose my whole hand in this beautiful slime when poking it in the jar and it sure loved to click! This is a thick but none the less very glossy T&G that has a little inflation and remains thick throughout play. It has big, loud, resonant bubble pops and sharp snaps and crackles to die for. And, of course, huge gummy stretches and just the right amount of resistance.
Once again Rodem absolutely nailed my idea and the wonderful scent! It is a sweet, fresh, realistic strawberry scent with a hint of cream.
So pretty! I love the strawberry fimos and label!
So you like big, loud pops huh? This slime's got ya!

Such perfect gummy stretches 💕
At the end of play
I can't thank the kind folks at Rodem enough for this incredibly special treat, I've never been more excited about slime and am just so grateful! 💕 I'm going to treat these jars like my first born and hope they last as long as possible!!

2024.05.15 06:13 JimmyButlerMVP_ In basketball, how come players never try to just grab the ball out of the air when an opposing player passes it?

Like when a ball is getting passes why don't they just go and try and run towards it and grab it

2024.05.15 05:53 SlimeSpree MEGA SIZED Rodem review (with many pics!)

MEGA SIZED Rodem review (with many pics!)
Rodem Slime Shop
7.5oz for $12.99-19.50 Labels are now waterproof! Yaaay! 💪🏻
I was so excited to get into this giant package from one of my favourite stores, and one I really love to support as they deserve it! This was actually a couple of orders I placed over time and Rodem contacted me to ask me if I wanted to combine them which demonstrates their incredibly attentive customer service. Usually the customer needs to contact the store for this to happen.
Included inside was powdered borax, a free gift slime for each order plus one more because it was a large order and they are generous. This exchange with Rodem got us chatting and then something very special transpired but I will post separately about that as I have to cram a lot of slime into this review and have limited space for images!
I had to brew a cup of tea, sit down and take my time going through all of these to make sure I combined all the correct things! It helps a lot that they are all pictured on the enclosed invoice but it would be helpful if they were packaged together. That having been said, separating the heavy pots of slime from the clays is a good idea when the order is this big and heavy so I can't complain!

  • LEMON TART (DIY butter snowfizz, lemon cookie scented)
This smelled OH SO good. The lemon and the cookie notes comes through and were just delicious and very realistic smelling! Sometimes lemon scent is reminiscent of citrus scented cleaning products to my nose but not this, this was an excellent effort. but My clay lemon was a little squished but clay often can be due to being delicate and tricky to package and the issue is not uncommon with any company.
The clay was soooo very soft, moist and pleasant to squish into the base. After you take the base out the pot you are met with a little bit of “caramel” sauce on the bottom of the pie. It’s all very mouth watering. This was the perfect, massively inflatable snow fizz and I was so in love with it. It was super crunchy and had the expected abundance of ASMR fizzles. It was beautifully activated and in every way a perfect slime. Some may find snow fizz a bit pokey but this wasn’t bad at all, the inflation was very cushioning!
https://preview.redd.it/wtbtvsydai0d1.jpg?width=1800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f0666d6916014f49d076dc2eb32c19490944c76f

  • TEA TIME (DIY clay, strawberry, blackcurrant, blackberry blended fruity scent)
The scent is fresh, fruity and yummy and the charms SO charming and well thought out! This clay was slightly stiffer and a tad dried out but the base extremely moist, silky and jiggly with tons of resistance on the pulls and I didn't end up with any lumps. It becomes extremely light, puffy, chubby and flubbery with massive pops and medium to soft clicks on the pokes which get louder as it inflates. I love Rodem’s take on this texture, it has all the awesome elements of the fluffy slimes I got from Seoul Gage but was more robust with no destabilisation issues (I found the SG ones a little dehydrated and sticky the next time I played.)
https://preview.redd.it/uggzl3jxai0d1.jpg?width=5069&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b0aff4fec5a963375e26dba47933e031964192c1

  • BUMPER CAR (silica sand x salt, rose scented, also a choice of peach scent if you prefer)
I love rose scent and this was PERFECT! It isn’t a perfume type scent, just pure, sweet rose water like rose Turkish delight or, indeed, actual rosewater. I was utterly obsessed! This was a stunning slime with a beautiful iridescent pink topper and the most gorgeous little pink bumper car charm. It sounded absolutely incredible to crunch and combine. The little pops, sizzles and crackles were out of this world. This was so heavy in silica crystals and yet not pokey as the pieces were quite smooth and small but of course your mileage may vary. I can’t express just how much I adored this slime, one of my all time favourites!

  • YUMMY POPCORN (styrofoam slay, caramel popcorn scented)
The fact this comes with a little paper popcorn bag containing the Styrofoam "popcorn" is the cutest touch ever! I adore Rodem, they think of everything to make the experience so incredibly fun. This smells just like freshly popped caramel popcorn with a tiny hint of sweet corn, I loved it! The two hyperrealistic popcorn charms that comes with it are hilarious!
The base was soft, jiggly, super clicky and fluffy and the Styrofoam really satisfying to crush into it. I just couldn’t get over how spectacular the scent was, it was making me hungry! This slime was a slightly looser slay texture and needed a little bit of activator to aid in handleability but not much. It had a few nice medium pops in it but very little hold, which unfortunately isn’t to my taste but many people love that. I was tied over this slime as the scent was just divine but I prefer more holdable textures. That is a reflection on my personal tastes however, not the slime which was great! If you like jiggly slays you’ll fall in love with this. I may not be a slay person but there is no way this wasn't going be a keeper, it had just too good a scent and crushing the styrofoam is great fun!
https://preview.redd.it/x9yw1riaci0d1.jpg?width=9009&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3f3ceaaf5020ef0116257b956ce3da686e84b61c

  • CAROUSEL (DIY clay, citrus fruit and aloe blend scented)
The scent wasn't bad but just wasn't a hit for me, a personal taste thing again. The clay was a little bit smooshed and it was tricky to tell what it was but extremely, soft squishy and moist. (Incidentally it was, you guessed it, a carousel 🎠)
The base was quite loose and jiggly and called for a little bit of activator but very soft, chubby, quite matte and pleasant in the hands. This combined into a huge, soft, marshmallowy mound of slime with a lovely plush surface. Super stretchy and fun to fold for soft bubble pops and lovely soft sizzles. It was a little on the loose side for my personal tastes but slay lover will again adore this! It was a well made slime.
https://preview.redd.it/d6t6p7llci0d1.jpg?width=5515&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fff18d675300332aa3e06239028d0de57701e0c1

  • EMMENTAL CHEESE CAKE (DIY clay/butter, savoury cheese cookie scented)
This was a very interesting, fun and unusual scent. A little sweet but notably savoury with a subtle hint of cheese. The first time I played with it I enjoyed the novelty but the second time I wasn’t sure if I loved it enough to buy again. It’s hard to describe but definitely worth trying.
The HUUUUUGE cheese clay came in a sealed package and was so soft and pleasant to squish. It became a ginormous, matte, sort of butter texture, which was both fairly holdable and yet exceedingly soft. It stuck to my play area a bit. It was quite a job to handle it on account of its size and a difficult texture to describe. It didn’t feel sticky at all on my play surface but stuck to my hands when I tried to pick it up and stretch it. When I pressed my hand into it on the surface it didn’t stick or feel sticky but if I picked it up to try and stretch it, it was very gooey and hard to shape. Activator didn’t seem to make that much of a difference. This was a texture unlike any other I’ve experienced. It’s one I’m a little lukewarm on but still enjoyed playing with for an unusual experience and worth it for the mega-sized clay cheese alone!
https://preview.redd.it/0kgtacjfdi0d1.jpg?width=5846&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=075fb7676513e410ab1c2962e84c2cbec9cd13b7

  • MIXED COFFEE (super gloss thick T&G, mixed coffee and coffee ice cream blend scented)
This was a delicious, very creamy coffee ice cream/frappe coffee creme scent, very rich with subtle notes of chocolate. It was a medium thickness, super clicky, moist glossy texture with decent resistance on the stretch. Very good and elastic with tons of bubble pops and wet crackles. This was an extremely pleasant and easy to play with moist and jiggly glossy slime. The longer you play the looser it gets but not problematically so.
https://preview.redd.it/hhob7e8ndi0d1.jpg?width=4823&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=eac50e47e3ae4040528d30a10444dede22dea5aa

  • FUJI APPLE ICE CREAM (DIY cloud creme, apple scented)
A lovely, fresh, crisp apple scent. The clay apple is so cute with its velvety exterior and so perfectly made. It was amazing fun to squish. This combined to a super stretchy and ultra fuzzy cloud creme. It was extremely light and super sizzly. This was another texture which is familiar and yet very unusual on account of the extreme fuzziness. I loved it and found it pretty amazing to look at!
https://preview.redd.it/o5fah6ugei0d1.jpg?width=4905&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c3941974b12b9e28570cad567ace8fb1fa46f2d9

  • FLAT PEACH CAKE (DIY clay and coated jelly/fluffy snow, peach scented)
The base has an absolutely beautiful fresh peach scent. Another stunningly well made clay which looks so much like a peach with the way they have created the fuzzy surface and peachy-perfect colour shift. It was soft and great fun to combine into the jelly base. The resulting slime was nice and clicky with big, soft bubble pops. It really felt plush and soft-surfaced on my fingers as I stretched it and was very moist, chubby, jiggly and flubby when I set it down. This was ultra inflatable with nice soft sizzles.
https://preview.redd.it/u2372z0wei0d1.jpg?width=5691&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f60afeb65d0269a8d83619526e9b97a4c264cb49

  • YAKULT GELATO (DIY snow creme, Yakult scented
A pleasant, mild, fruity yogurty scent. The little scoops of ice cream were so soft, moist and great to squish. This started off with lots of resistance and a nice plush feel as I pulled it. It had moist clicks and soft bubble pops. While it gave a little bit as it warmed up, it did retain a bouncy and elastic stretch with a nice little bit of resistance. This is another fun, boingy, flubby, jiggly texture, which is super inflatable and great fun to play with.

  • MY COSY SPACE (cloud slime, sweet juicy peach/added perfume)
It’s so ironic that cloud slime is my favorite and yet I have so very few of them retained in my collection as I just can’t find ones I love that drizzle perfectly! I was very, very excited for a cloud from Rodem but also anxious as clouds are so rarely perfectly in line with the exact level of drizzle I’m looking for! I absolutely ADORE the aesthetic with the soft little rug that comes with it in the shape of Rodem’s bunny logo and the couch charm, how stinking CUTE! The slime even matches! I think this is the best charm/slime combo I have ever seen, a big standing ovation for Rodem on this incredibly whimsical and charmingly presented slime!
The scent was a relaxing and homely peachy perfume with notes of bubble bath and baby powder. The drizzle was good!! True cloud is a hard slime to make to spec and, in light of that, a lot of companies don’t really bother with it. I’m so happy Rodem did and did such a great job. It was very soft and plush with gorgeous blankety folds and I have everything crossed they make more of this texture soon. I have no idea what I’ll do with the delightful little rug other than treasure it forever! Haha!
Even just looking at these photos as I type out the review I'm smiling again! I wish this slime was my dressing gown! haha!

  • ONIGIRI (white glue foam chip, savoury black sesame.)
Another incredibly interesting and unique savoury scent. This was definitely giving sesame seed/oil, albeit a bit more subtle than the real thing. I would say your mileage may very on this scent, it won’t be for everyone but it is certainly worth trying for a whole new experience.
This was a medium thickness, glossy texture which was very chewy and clicky. The foam pieces were quite hard and angular but crushable if you really go for it. This was a very novel floam texture which made a great change from the usual balls. This was exploding with fantastic crackles and pops, top tier sounds. I think the angular foam is even better for trapping air as this slime sounded like a tiny elephant stampeding in a bubble wrap factory! I got some big air pocket type bubbles from this one too!
https://preview.redd.it/t6eh86yigi0d1.jpg?width=5986&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5954f9b63ef8b82f6b18c833abed2b45aa816ce0

  • FRENCH APPLE PIE (white glue/snow/fluffy, French apple pie scented)
The apple and the crust both come through in the scent, as well as a little hint of caramel (which is very typical of a French tarte tatin, well done Rodem!) The little doilies in the bottoms of the clay pots (even though the clay is wrapped) are yet another gorgeous little touch that impress me about these guys, I love their intimate attention to detail.
The clay was again super soft and pleasant to squish into the nice, clicky base. This was a lovely, chubby, stretchy slime. It was a little on the thicker side and created satisfying farty bubble pops.
C'est bon!

  • SAKURA SAND (sand slime, sakura flower scented)
This is an absolutely beautiful scent. A slightly cotton candy leaning sweet Sakura. I love pink, I love sand slimes and I love Sakura scents so this really pleased me! Unfortunately I found it very sticky and loose so added a lot of activator until it was more resistant and was able to get it where it needed to be. Once I did it had great bubble pops and was a very sand-dense and crunchy/sizzly sounding slime, the exact sort of sand slime I like.
https://preview.redd.it/z24t4ms5hi0d1.jpg?width=5704&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=38d0ba14bbeeec427f15096407d5c23c0c9f0f67

  • STRAWBERRY MATCHA SUGAR CAKE (snow fizz, strawberry matcha scented)
A nice scent with both strawberry and Matcha coming through. This was an extremely fluffy, airy snowfizz with tons of fantastic ASMR sounds, so fizzy, sizzly and fun to inflate and tingle-inducing to deflate. It started off feeling like a light, sugary super airy scrub and got denser as I played. Another great slime.
https://preview.redd.it/2yfdnspdhi0d1.jpg?width=5788&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2498da365a7c185a377dd2a8b7bbf12c9b80e52e

  • TANGHULU BALL (big foam ball, strawberry-ade)
This had a very subtle strawberryade scent. The giant floam balls were a total novelty to me and SO much fun! Who doesn’t love the feeling of big balls in their hands!? 🙊 The base was quite loose and wonderful for plentiful crackles and pops. I really enjoyed this!
https://preview.redd.it/37msqhrnhi0d1.jpg?width=8440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=65fa12490f41bec1c7c30cea77764e8082b63382

  • STEAMED BUN (chewy mochi texture, sweet red bean BingSu)
This was an extremely savoury scent, there is some sweetness there but it was very much umami focused and I really enjoyed it! I was getting notes of red bean with a saltiness.
This is a moist, super clicky, jiggly slime with two large sponges in it that crush like jelly cubes. This is extremely bubbly and full of juicy wet crackles and high pitched big pops. You can create absolutely gargantuan air bubbles with this texture. If you, like me, don’t typically enjoy loose jiggly slimes, there is a damn good chance that you will enjoy this as I loved it! It was just so multifaceted with what it offered. First, you have the unusual scent which is pretty intriguing and different. Then you have the two giant cubes to crush which is always nice. Then you have the joy of the crackles, pops and loud clicks. Finally, you have the enormous bubbles! You just can’t not have fun with this!
That bubble (slubble?) was bigger than me!!

  • PLOP DUCKLING (Snow creme, lemon meringue scented)
This has a gorgeous and accurate sweet and creamy lemon meringue scent. It’s so much fun watching the little duck’s butt slowly dive into the slime when you pop him on there.
This was exactly the texture and scent I fancied finishing on and quite by chance it was! I couldn’t find Rodem’s description for this one’s texture until later so I had no idea what to expect as I had forgotten, what a joy!!! This combined into a really lovely, soft sage green. This is another light, soft, squishy, chewy and chubby inflating texture that ends up airy and puffy. I absolutely loved it! Unfortunately that is one more image than I am able to embed on Reddit so please click here to see it!
With Rodem, nothing is fully predictable and every texture brings with it a nice surprise. This is especially pleasing to experience when you place big orders. There is nothing more disappointing to me than buying a lot of slimes from a company just to discovered there is hardly any nuance between them and the experience is basically a rinse and repeat one, texturally identical and/or predictable. Rodem break the mold and throw in some very unusual elements and scents. Their themes are so well thought out and utterly charming and beautifully presented. They produce so many textures and master them, each one designed with so much love and attentiveness.
I really adore this company and feel they work hard to bring joy and excellence to the slime community. Recently one of the more commercial slime companies was caught using Rodem’s brand as a key word on their google ads to steer business away from them and onto their own website which I thought was in very poor taste. It is however testament to the fact that they knew Rodem was a company slime enthusiasts were talking about. And so we should be! It is my pleasure and honour to continue supporting this wonderful company. I'm so excited to see what they come up with next!
I loved pretty much every slime and the ones I didn’t were more so a personal taste thing than a quality control issue. There were a couple I found less handleable or with activation issues (Emmental and Sakura Sand) but that is pretty damn good going for an order this huge and the sand one was easily fixable. A well deserved 9.9/10

2024.05.15 05:35 Flodomojo Question about and-1s i.e. Braun

So I'm a basketball fan that admittedly doesn't know all the rules 100%. My understanding about and-1s was always that the player had to already be in the process of shooting the ball at the time they are fouled in order to get the FT. In the case where Braun was just fouled and got the and-1, it very much looked like he was fouled before really starting the shooting motion and then actually started the motion and scored after. In a situation like this, wouldn't that just be a normal foul?
