2024.04.26 12:21 Accurate-Message-469 TO LOVE AND DIE IN L.A. A TWO CHAPTER STORY TITLED: THE LETTER

This is Chapter 1 of a Two Chapter story. My version of how events played out over the course of Castle and Beckett's stay in L.A. For fun I pulled some dialogue from other episodes. Hope you enjoy!
Chapter 1: The Letter
Kate and Castle had been sitting on the couch having a glass of wine reminiscing stories about Royce. When all of a sudden Castle had blindsided her with the most beautiful words she had ever heard and ended with "And your hotness" Kate smiled inside because that was so Castle, and it broke the tension.
She heard herself say, "You're not so bad yourself Castle", then realized that statement could open up a big can of worms, so she got up and told Castle she was going to bed. As she walked towards her room, she heard Castle blurt out "Kate", she grabbed the handle of the door, and just stood there. She stood there for what seemed like hours and put her forehead against the door and thought to herself, "If Only...If Only...If Only". Kate couldn't get those words that had been in Mike Royce's letter out of her head.
She already knew that she probably loved Castle and had since the freezer incident. He was such a good man, good son, good father. He was loyal to a fault, and the best partner that she ever had, but she also knew that being in a relationship with him took her way out of her comfort zone. She seemed to perpetually be in relationships with men that she didn't love. They were easy, one foot out the door, never really had to let them into your heart. Castle was so different from any man she had ever known. He wore is heart on his sleeve, hell on his whole body. He would be all in and would expect the same from her, and that frightened the hell out of her, and yet if she was ever going to find true happiness wouldn't she eventually have to put her heart out there? "If Only".
Kate took a deep breath and turned around and walked over to Castle. She looked into his eyes, she smiled to herself, his eyes were so full of love for her, and he looked like a deer in headlights right now. He was still sitting on the couch as she walked over to him. Kate smiled down on him and ran her hands thru his hair in a comforting gesture. She peered down to him and smiled and said "Castle, can you do me a favor"?
"Sure Kate, anything", he replied.
Of course he would she thought, that was her partner thru and thru. Kate reached down and kissed him on his forehead and said, "I need you to do a couple of things for me. One, I need you to talk to your friend Maurice and ask him if he can get us a murder board for in the morning. We have to wrap this up and take Ganz into custody tomorrow before Roy throws the book at us. Two, do you think you could extend our stay here for another couple of days? I've got vacation days stored up, so if you can stay longer, maybe we could take a mini vacation.
"Yeah, Kate I can stay", Castle happily replied. "Alexis is at Prinston getting extra credits for her last year in high school, and mother is, well mother. I'm hoping she hasn't burned the loft down, so yeah, I have time, what are you thinking"?
"Just see if you can change our flight to a couple of days later. I'm sure you know a guy", she chuckled. "So now I have one thing to do and then I'm going to bed because we will have a long day tomorrow. You get your chores done and head off to bed yourself".
"Okay Mom I'll do my chores and go to bed", Castle laughed.
Kate smiled as she walked to her door, then turned to Castle and flirted, "I Can't have you being a naughty boy...and least not yet", Then she turned and laughed as she scurried into her bedroom.
Castle mumbled under his breath, "Yeah, you better run, you evil woman".
xxxx"
Kate entered her bedroom and looked at her phone, she noticed Ten missed phone calls from Josh. She heaved a big sigh, because she was not looking forward to this conversation.
On just the first ring, like he'd been ready to pounce, Josh blurts out, "What the hell Kate, what the fuck is going on and why are you out in LA"?
Kate tried to keep her tone even, "How did you even know I was out in L.A. in the first place"?
"When you stopped answering your phone, I got worried, so I went down to the precinct and asked that Irish detective friend of yours".
Kate dripping with sarcasm said. "Is it all too much that you remember that a good friend of mines name is Ryan? Forget it, you'll never remember because it's not important enough to you". She continued to explain. "A very important person in my life Josh, has been murdered and I'm out here to bring his killer to justice".
Josh sighed, "I'm sorry about your friend Kate, but can't they handle it out there, it's not even in your jurisdiction. I had a couple of days off and I thought we could spend some time together.
"I'm not at your beckon call Josh, and my friend deserved for me to bring his killer in, me and only me. So just deal with it please".
Josh huffs, "Okay fine, so when will you be home"?
Kate took a deep breath and said, "Josh will you play a little game with me? Just a couple of questions I have for you, nothing difficult, just questions that a boyfriend would know after being in a relationship for nearly 8 months. They're very easy".
"How did we get from why you are out in L.A., and why didn't you have the courtesy to call me to let me know, to playing a game"?
Kate replied "I think if you play the game you'll come to understand the other stuff. So, are you going to play or not"?
"Fine", he yelled in total frustration.
Kate started "Okay, first question. What is my favorite color"?
"OMG you're killing me here", Kate could see in her mind that he was running his hands thru his way to long hair. "Umm, Green"?
"No Josh, its purple. Next question. What's my favorite flower?"
Josh with more confidence says, "Thats easy, Roses. I always get you Roses because you love them".
"No Josh, I don't. My favorite flowers are lilies just like my mothers were, but you never asked me, you always assumed".
"You are fucking kidding me, right? Why didn't you say anything?"
"Why didn't you ask, or even care to find out"? Kate replied.
Kate continued, "Remember that day when you came into the precinct to pick me up for dinner and Castle and I had been looking at comic books, and you sauntered over and looked down on my desk and acted like an ass and said, "Isn't it ridiculous for an adult to have comic books"? (Kate remembered laughing when Castle replied, "Ridiculously awesome)".
Josh not sure where any of this was going said, "Yeah I remember thinking that it was stupid for a grown man to collect that stuff".
"Well for your information half those comic books were mine Josh. Castle and I were betting on whose collection was better. I love the character Electra and he loves Batman, but after your lame criticism I chose to hide that from you because of your holy than though attitude of comic books".
Josh, was stunned and said," You like comic books Kate? The most driven cop in New York"?
Kate ignored him and continued, "Remember me asking you to go see Forbidden Planet with me a movie that I just love. I asked about 4 times, and you kept turning me down. You kept saying you had to work, but I called down at the hospital and found out you volunteered to work, just to avoid going with me".
Josh sighed and replied, "I'm sorry Kate, I'm just not into that stuff, but I should have told you".
Kate laughed and said, "Hey it's alright, I went with Castle, and we had popcorn and candy and then we went to Remy's and had a shake and we talked for hours about our love of the movie, and I had one of the best times I've ever had".
Josh now steamed belted out" So let me get this straight, you have a boyfriend, but you chose to go to the movies with another man".
Kate kept laughing, "Yeah, and you want to know what else? The first time he ever bought me flowers, because he knew I'd had a bad day, they were lilies, and for my birthday he got me a purple scarf, he knows my favorite tv soap opera, my favorite bad sci fi tv show, I've never told him any of these things, but he listens to me, and he cares about me, way more than my so-called boyfriend does."
Castle had just walked back into the room from doing his chores. He walked over to Kate's room to see if she was still awake to tell her that everything had been arranged. As he got near the door, he heard her starting to get loud.
"So, just to get this all straight, your shadow that follows you around like a lost puppy, the writer of bad pulp fiction, knows all these things about you that I don't, ...Wait a minute, is he out there in L.A with you right now"?
Kate now had lost all reasoning with him, and she started to yell out. "Yeah, Josh he's with me like he always is, and let me tell you what you fucking jackass, I'm proud to have been the inspiration for his books and I'm proud to be his partner. I love Nikki Heat, I loved Derek Storm, I loved the book " In A Hail of Bullets, and "When It Comes To Slaughter".
"My mother loved his books, and when my father turned into a drunk, and when my mother was murdered, I went down a deep rabbit whole so bad that I really didn't care if I woke up the next day. Then I read the last book my mother was reading before she died, "In a Hail of Bullets", and it saved my life. He wrote about the wicked being vanquished by the righteous, that good willed out against evil, and I read every book he wrote, over and over. Its why I became a cop. He literally saved my life".
Castle had heard enough. The tears poured down his face. He hated so much how she had suffered and how far gone she had once been. He loved her so much, and it killed him knowing all the people that had let her down. He turned to go to bed, though he knew that sleep would never come, as he would think only of the beautiful brunette in the other room, and how his words had helped her. He put his hand over his mouth as he started to sob.
Kate wiping the tears from her eyes calmly said, "You know what Josh, my biggest mistake was running back to you when Castle and I were rescued from the freezer. I knew then that neither one of us were really committed to each other. Everyone thinks I'm this bad ass cop, but no one realizes that I love magic, I love comic books, I love to cuddle, and feel a strong arm around my waist instead of him rolling over and facing the other way, I love to feel the rain coming down on my face on a hot summer's night. I'm Detective Beckett, but I'm also Kate, and you never seemed to get that. You come over, we have sex sometimes, we make casual conversation, and we go to bed, then start it back up the next day. That's not a relationship, that's just a bunch of one-night stands strung together, and it's not enough anymore".
Josh sighed and said, "Wow, I wish you had said something earlier. For what it's worth I'm sorry that I didn't try harder, but as soon as you get back, I promise to be a better boyfriend".
Kate trying to regain so semblance of normalcy said, "Josh, are you at my apartment now"?
"Yeah", he replied, "I let myself in when I was looking for you".
Kate took a deep breath and said, "Okay, now here's what I need you to do. Put your key on my kitchen counter, then take whatever you think is yours, there shouldn't be much, then walk out of my place and lock the door before you leave. Then go have a good life, find someone that you can get to know better, but don't contact me again. Do you hear me"?
Josh not understanding this whole turn of events says, "I can't believe this Kate, you're actually breaking up with me for him"?
"No Josh, I'm breaking up with you for me. I need to find someone that thinks I'm special, that wants to go to a movie with me, because he enjoys my company, that enjoys the things that I do, and by the way Castle's ten times the man that you are and I'm sorry it took me this long to see it". With that Kate hung up and stumbled into bed and fell asleep, thinking about her writer and best friend.

Chapter 1: "The National Anthem"
As the truck rumbles to a halt, eighteen hopeful castaways spill out into Pokémon Square, their nerves tingling with anticipation. Unaware of the seismic twist awaiting them, they soon learn they won't be divided by mere chance but by the essence of their origins: urbanized versus wild. To their astonishment, both tribes will share one camp. In the flurry of introductions and alliances, Alexi stumbles upon a game-changing advantage—the Ukuaji Hidden Immunity Idol. Sensing the weight of responsibility, she bestows it upon Claire, a strategic move that could shape their tribe's fate. The immunity challenge ignites a fierce competition, each tribe navigating obstacles with determination. In the end, Maisha triumphs, securing safety for another day. Right after, tensions simmer as Wren's blunt assessment of Sylvester sparks a heated confrontation, fracturing tribal unity.
Alexi's fortune continues to rise when she stumbles upon yet another advantage—the Maisha Hidden Immunity Idol, a secret she keeps close to her chest. Meanwhile, Dawn seizes the opportunity to forge alliances across tribal lines, aligning with the perceived power players. Amidst the frenzied activity, whispers of strategy circulate like wildfire. Oscar, fueled by ambition and a desire to eliminate threats, sets his sights on Furtiva, sensing dissent within their ranks. The majority alliance, led by Aries and Claire, seizes upon this opportunity, crafting a plan to secure their dominance.
In a calculated move to safeguard their positions, they rally behind Max's suggestion, turning Rocco into a second target. As tribal council looms, tensions simmer and alliances are tested. In a dramatic climax, the torches are snuffed, and Furtiva becomes the first casualty of their ruthless game, leaving Max to confront the harsh reality of her precarious position.

Chapter 2: "Jigsaw Falling into Place"
Anticipation hangs heavy in the air as the castaways prepare for a crucial reward challenge. With determination etched on their faces, eight members from each tribe vie to unravel a tangled knot and claim victory. In a thrilling display of teamwork, Maisha emerges triumphant, earning a coveted tarp for their camp. The relentless pace continues as the tribes face off in the immunity challenge, teetering precariously on narrow beams over the water. With each step fraught with tension, Ukuaji narrowly clinches victory, securing their safety. Back at camp, Larissa's proposal to target Matilda sparks friction, met with resistance from Bill who staunchly defends her. Meanwhile, Mayday and Romagna bond over shared struggles with trust, forging a tentative alliance based on mutual reliability. Claire, reassured by her tribe's immunity win, takes the opportunity to reassess her allegiances, while Aries seeks to gather intel from the opposing tribe, forming an unlikely alliance with Otto and Romagna. As tensions mount, Sylvester's machinations to target Vanilla stir chaos within the Maisha tribe. Despite Bill's efforts to maintain order, dissent brews, with Wren advocating for Ginger as a potential target. With tribal council looming, Sylvester's impassioned plea for unity falls on deaf ears when he mentions how hard is to break the ice in the tribe. Getting paranoid, Alexi plays her idol in a bold move to safeguard herself. In a climactic vote, the ice finally shatters, and Vanilla is voted out in a decisive 6-3 decision against Matilda.

Chapter 3: "Sit Down. Stand Up."
Exhaustion hangs heavy over the camp as the relentless noise of bustling personalities fills the air, testing the castaways' resolve. Seeking reprieve, the tribes face off in not one, but two demanding challenges. Ukuaji emerges victorious, claiming both reward and immunity, sparing them from the looming threat of elimination. As the dust settles, Romagna breathes a sigh of relief, grateful to avoid the burden of orchestrating another elimination. Meanwhile, Mayday offers solace to a nervous Matilda, her fears of being targeted once again echoing through the camp. Oscar's frustration simmers as he struggles to make his voice heard within the tribe, while Aries finds solace in a newfound alliance with Otto, Bill, and Claire, shifting his allegiance away from Dawn. Amidst the chaos, Larissa's melodious tunes disrupt strategy discussions, drawing ire from her fellow castaways. Wren seizes upon this opportunity to sway the vote against her, but Dawn questions Wren's motives, sparking tension within the tribe. Larissa, sensing the walls closing in, attempts to shift the target onto Otto, but her efforts fall flat as the tribe's affection for him remains steadfast. Suspicion mounts as players speculate on Larissa's potential possession of an idol, yet her conspicuous demeanor leaves little room for doubt. As tribal council descends into chaos, Larissa's fate is sealed in a unanimous vote, leaving a bitter taste in her mouth as she directs accusations towards Alexi, igniting a firestorm of distrust and uncertainty.

Chapter 4: "Everything in Its Right Place"
In the early hours of dawn, with Larissa's accusatory words still echoing in her mind, Alexi sets out in search of the idol, her determination unwavering as she unearths the coveted advantage. Meanwhile, tensions flare between Sylvester and Oscar, their simmering feud erupting into a heated exchange over breakfast. As the castaways gather for the reward challenge, the air crackles with anticipation. Armed with slingshots and pamtre berries, tribes clash in a fierce battle of precision and skill. In a stunning display of prowess, Maisha emerges victorious, claiming a coveted reward. But victory is fleeting as the tribes once again face off, this time in a race of agility and intellect. Teetering across a precarious balance beam, they race to solve a puzzle and unlock the key to immunity. In a nail-biting finish, Maisha clinches victory once more, securing their safety for another round. Back at camp, tensions reach a boiling point as Oscar and Sylvester's feud escalates, threatening to divide the tribe. Claire and Romagna weigh their options, contemplating intervention but ultimately choosing to stay out of the fray. Seeking to solidify her position, Mayday approaches Ginger with a proposition, sparking the formation of a new alliance that includes Alexi and Sylvester. As alliances shift and loyalties are tested, Rocco and Romagna find themselves at odds, while Aries voices concerns over Oscar's confrontational behavior. Amidst the chaos, Mayday finds herself blindsided by her own allies' betrayal, as Bill and Romagna orchestrate a plot to oust Oscar. At tribal council, tensions run high as the castaways cast their votes, culminating in a shocking blindside as Oscar is voted out in a 5-3 decision against Max.

Chapter 5: "Knives Out"
Mayday grapples with the sting of betrayal, concealing her simmering resentment behind a façade of acceptance. As the tribes gather for the next challenge, tension hangs heavy in the air, anticipation mounting for the impending twist. With a dramatic flourish, the castaways are instructed to smash their painted eggs, their fates sealed within the vibrant hues of tribe-colored paint. Aries, Bill, and Claire find themselves in the minority in the revamped Maisha, their once-solid alliance now fractured. Yet Bill remains undeterred, his optimism buoyed by a secret alliance with Dawn. Meanwhile, in Ukuaji, Mayday finds herself in a position of power, poised to forge new alliances alongside Ginger and Alexi. As the tribes compete in a grueling reward challenge, Maisha emerges victorious once more, their spirits buoyed by the taste of success. But the triumph is short-lived as the tribes face off in an intense immunity challenge. In a battle of skill and strategy, Maisha once again emerges triumphant, securing their safety for another round. Back at camp, Bill seizes the opportunity to broker a deal with Dawn, proposing a new alliance with Claire and Sylvester to upend the balance of power. In Ukuaji, tensions simmer as Romagna feels her control slipping, while Rocco plots a blindside to avenge Oscar's elimination. As tribal tensions reach a boiling point, Alexi's paranoia proves costly as she misplays her idol, mistakenly believing Romagna to be targeting Ginger. Romagna's overconfidence becomes her downfall, as Mayday and Rocco's cunning plan takes center stage, orchestrating a blindside that leaves Romagna reeling, their revenge exacted in a twist of fate that reshapes the game once more.

Chapter 6: "Backdrifts"
Alexi grapples with frustration over her misplayed idol, but finds solace in her burgeoning friendship with Max, their bond strengthening amidst the chaos of the game. As the tribes face off in a grueling reward challenge, Maisha emerges triumphant, their victory tempered by the growing rifts within their ranks. Yet their joy is short-lived as Ukuaji rallies to secure immunity, their spirits buoyed by the taste of victory. Back at camp, Claire's fortuitous discovery of the Hidden Immunity Idol sets the stage for a power play, while Aries and Bill grapple with the weight of their next move. In the midst of the chaos, Sylvester's vendetta against Wren comes to a head, his determination to oust his nemesis driving a wedge between the original Maisha members. Matilda, however, harbors her own agenda, setting her sights on Sylvester in a bid for control. With Claire caught in the crossfire of conflicting agendas. At Ukuaji camp, Max's offhand remark ignites a firestorm of conflict between former allies, as Ginger, Alexi, and Mayday find themselves questioning their trust in Sylvester. With alliances strained and tensions high, the castaways brace themselves for the inevitable showdown at tribal council. Meanwhile, tensions boil over at the Ukuaji camp as Max's sarcastic remark ignites a fiery confrontation with Alexi. As trust wavers, Ginger, Alexi, and Mayday find themselves questioning Sylvester's loyalty in the wake of his alliance with the rival tribe. At tribal council, plans unravel as Wren becomes the sacrificial lamb. As the torch is snuffed and Wren's torch is extinguished, Sylvester is left reeling from the revelation of Matilda's betrayal.

Chapter 7: "Life in a Glasshouse"
As the long-awaited merge dawns, the Umoja tribe emerges from the ashes of former rivalries, uniting under a banner of shared destiny. Yet, beneath the veneer of camaraderie, tensions simmer as old grudges resurface. Rocco and Ginger find themselves at odds, their contrasting worldviews clashing amidst the chaos of the merge. In the aftermath of a grueling reward challenge, the tribe braces for the first individual immunity challenge. Dawn emerges victorious. Back at camp, alliances shift and strategies evolve as players jockey for position in the ever-changing landscape of the game. Bill and Sylvester share a moment of camaraderie, solidifying their alliance and setting their sights on domination. Meanwhile, Matilda and Max clandestinely form a secret alliance, their shared goals aligning as they plot their next move. With Otto in their sights, they set their sights on orchestrating his downfall, confident in their ability to shape the course of the game. As tensions reach a boiling point, Claire rallies her allies in a bid to eliminate Matilda once and for all. The tribe stands divided, each member weighing their loyalties and alliances in the crucible of tribal council. In a nail-biting vote, Otto becomes the first casualty of the merge, his torch extinguished as the jury finally starts.

Chapter 8: "How to Disappear Completely"
Bill's clandestine vote against Ginger sends ripples through the tribe, his covert decision kept carefully under wraps to maintain the facade of unity among his allies. Meanwhile, Matilda expresses gratitude towards Max for his pivotal role in her survival. Rocco, buoyed by the prospect of Ginger's departure, seeks to uncover the identity of who voted for him. The reward challenge brings both exhilaration and opportunity, as the tribe competes fiercely for a chance to replenish their supplies. One day after, Dawn's second individual immunity win solidifies her standing as a formidable competitor. Back at camp, Rocco's suspicions about Ginger vote turn towards Mayday, prompting him to cultivate a closer relationship with her. Claire, grappling with the shifting dynamics of the merge, questions the validity of her alliance from the Maisha tribe. As tensions escalate, Ginger learns of Rocco's plan to target him and launches a counterattack, rallying support to turn the tables on his adversary. Sylvester sees an opportunity to target Matilda, but Bill persuades him to focus on eliminating Ginger instead. At tribal council, the rivalry between Rocco and Ginger takes center stage, culminating in a decisive vote that sees Ginger ousted from the game in a vote of 8-3 against Rocco.

Chapter 9: "All I Need"
As the game reaches its 23rd day, the bonds of friendship prove to be crucial amidst the turmoil of shifting allegiances and constant betrayals. Matilda finds solace in her close alliance with Mayday, a source of comfort amidst the chaos of the game. Meanwhile, the unlikely friendship between Bill and Dawn continues to flourish, defying the odds and transcending their differences. Following his victory in the immunity challenge, Sylvester sets his sights on strategic maneuvering, targeting Claire for elimination with the help of Alexi. However, Rocco, sensing an opportunity to seize control, shifts his focus to Max, rallying support from Dawn and Mayday for his plan. Bill grows increasingly wary of Alexi's influence and orchestrates a move against him, enlisting the support of Claire and Aries. However, their plans are thrown into disarray when Sylvester insists on targeting Claire instead. To avoid conflict within their alliance, they ultimately decide to target Matilda, a common adversary. Matilda, recognizing her precarious position, pleads with Max to vote alongside her in a desperate bid for survival. At tribal council, tensions run high as the tribe grapples with uncertainty. Claire's timely use of her idol nullifies several votes against her, but in the end, it is Alexi who is blindsided by the majority alliance and the idol she gave to Claire, becoming the third jury member after misplaying his idols in previous rounds.

Chapter 10: "The Bends"
Bill, now wielding considerable social influence, has garnered the trust of Sylvester and Max, solidifying his power within the tribe. During the reward challenge, the castaways engage in a Survivor auction, with half receiving indulgent food items while the others receive cherished letters from home. Matilda, however, secures an advantage for the next immunity challenge and a communal cake for the tribe to enjoy. Despite her advantage, Matilda falls short in the immunity challenge, and Sylvester claims victory for the second time, securing his safety yet again. Back at camp, Matilda and Max share a reflective moment, acknowledging their resilience amidst the chaos of the game. eanwhile, cracks begin to form in Bill and Sylvester's friendship, as Sylvester feels sidelined in Bill's strategic plans. Aries, sensing a similar disregard from Bill and Claire, severs ties with their alliance. Amidst the brewing tensions, Rocco and Max find themselves at odds, targeting each other as potential threats. Claire, recognizing Matilda's longevity in the game, seeks to target her for elimination. Bill attempts to sway Claire towards voting out Aries to prove his loyalty to Sylvester, but Claire remains steadfast in her decision to target Matilda. However, Matilda's allies rally to her defense, redirecting the target towards Claire. At tribal council, Claire faces a nerve-wracking vote, confident in her numbers but ultimately shocked when the tide turns against her. In a close 5-4 vote, Matilda is ousted, leaving Claire to breathe a sigh of relief as she narrowly escapes elimination.

Chapter 11: "Climbing Up the Walls"
As the game intensifies, Claire finds herself reeling from the close call at the previous tribal council, unaware of Bill's clandestine attempt to save Matilda. With only Dawn and Sylvester remaining from the original Maisha tribe, they lean on their alliance with Bill for support. During the reward challenge, castaways engage in a revealing game of majority rules, with Claire emerging victorious and selecting Bill and Mayday to join her on a flight to a remote island for a picnic. Next day, Dawn secures her third individual immunity, solidifying her safety in the game. Back at camp, Claire's suspicions about Bill's behavior grow, leading her to forge a secret alliance with Max, Aries, and Mayday. Claire sets her sights on targeting Sylvester, blaming him for Bill's perceived erraticism, while Max advocates for targeting Rocco. Sylvester, feeling the pressure of being targeted, attempts to rally support against Claire, but his efforts fall short as his allies prefer to target Rocco instead. Sensing an opportunity, Claire deceives Bill into believing they will vote for Rocco, setting the stage for a blindside. At tribal council, Sylvester is blindsided by a 5-3 vote against Rocco, leaving Bill shocked and betrayed by Claire's cunning strategy.

Chapter 12: "Decks Dark"
With tensions rising and alliances crumbling, Max seizes the opportunity to strengthen her position in the game by forging new connections with Aries, exploiting the growing distrust among former allies. At reward challenge, Bill's attempt to mend fences with Claire and Dawn through a picnic with loved ones reveals his strategic maneuvering to regain their trust. At the immunity challenge, Dawn secures her fourth immunity win, solidifying her status as a formidable player in the game. Back at camp, Max discovers a shared interest in hiphop with Rocco, forging an unexpected bond that could have significant implications for the game. However, Dawn recognizes the threat posed by their budding friendship and moves to exploit Rocco's vulnerability. As discussions ensue about the next target, Mayday advocates for targeting Bill, leveraging Dawn's immunity status to make a strategic move. However, resistance within the tribe coalesces around the consensus to vote out Rocco, who finds himself isolated and vulnerable. At tribal council, Rocco becomes the target of a 5-2 vote against Bill, leaving Mayday frustrated and the tribe divided as they approach the final stages of the game.

Chapter 13: "No Surprises"
Dawn finds herself in a precarious position as the sole remaining member of the original Maisha tribe. At the reward challenge, Aries emerges victorious, forming a bond with Claire and Max as they enjoy a luxurious trip on a yacht. Meanwhile, at the immunity challenge, Bill secures safety with a decisive win, further solidifying his position as a formidable competitor in the game. Back at camp, tensions rise as Claire swiftly targets Dawn for elimination, viewing her as a threat due to her close relationship with Bill and recent challenge successes. In a desperate bid to save herself, Dawn attempts to rally support against Claire, but finds little traction as Bill remains hesitant to turn against his ally. As tribal council approaches, Dawn's fate seems sealed as she faces overwhelming odds. At tribal council, Dawn's efforts to shift the target onto Claire fall short, and she is ultimately voted out in a 4-2 decision against Aries. With her departure, Bill is left in an uncomfortable position.

Final Chapter Intro:

Bill, a charismatic actor with impeccable social skills, has forged unlikely friendships that have both bolstered his alliances and placed him in precarious situations throughout the game. Claire, a cunning strategist, has masterfully orchestrated her gameplay, forming solid alliances and leveraging the two hidden idols she discovered to outmaneuver her competition. Max, hailing from the minority faction, has quietly risen through the ranks, forming crucial bonds with key players and exploiting strategic opportunities to advance her game. Despite facing numerous setbacks and challenges, Mayday has persevered, utilizing her keen instincts and unwavering determination to survive each tribal council, even in the face of relentless paranoia.
As the final showdown looms, who will emerge victorious and claim the title of Sole Survivor? The stage is set for an epic conclusion to an unforgettable season.

Final Chapter Part I:
The remaining five contestants brace themselves for the final leg of the game. Max, confident in her alliances and strategic maneuvers, sets her sights on securing her spot in the finale. At the pivotal immunity challenge, castaways face a grueling maze and puzzle, with Bill emerging victorious, clinching his second individual immunity and guaranteeing his place in the final four. Back at camp, Mayday intensifies her efforts to solidify her position, forging connections with Claire and reaffirming her bond with Bill. However, as Bill reflects on the game, he recognizes the threat posed by Mayday's gameplay and resolves to target her at tribal council, with Claire in agreement. At tribal council, as it's the last round to do so, Claire plays her hidden immunity idol. When the votes are read, Mayday becomes the unanimous choice for elimination against Max.

Final Chapter Part II:
With only four castaways remaining, Bill and Aries find themselves on opposite ends of the game, their strained relationship threatening to boil over in the final round. However, Max remains optimistic, confident in her unbreakable bonds with both players. In a nail-biting immunity challenge, Bill secures his third consecutive individual immunity win, cementing his place in the finale and leaving Aries, Claire, and Max vulnerable to elimination. Back at camp, Aries faces the harsh reality of potentially being the next to go, while Bill considers the strategic implications of voting out Max, whom he views as a formidable threat to his game. With the support of Claire, Bill sets his sights on orchestrating Max's blindside, despite their close relationship. At tribal council, Max is blindsided by the revelation of her elimination, as she becomes the final member of the jury. With only three castaways remaining, Bill, Aries, and Claire prepare to face off in the ultimate showdown for the title of Sole Survivor.

Final Tribal Council:
As the final tribal council commences, the three finalists—Aries, Bill, and Claire—present their cases to the jury, each outlining their strategic gameplay and accomplishments throughout the game. Aries emphasizes his ability to navigate solid alliances and protect himself in the game, pointing to key moments such as orchestrating Oscar's elimination. Bill reflects on his adaptive gameplay, forging bonds with diverse players and making strategic moves to advance his position in the game, even relying on immunity wins when necessary. Claire highlights her aggressive gameplay, targeting threats and strategically utilizing her two hidden immunity idols for protection. The jury members challenge the finalists, questioning Aries's passive gameplay and reliance on others, Bill's dependence on immunity wins, and Claire's lack of deep personal connections. Despite the critiques, each finalist defends their game and strategy. As the jury prepares to cast their votes, each member weighs their options carefully. Sylvester commends Aries for his under-the-radar gameplay, while Alexi acknowledges Claire's strategic acumen. Dawn casts her vote for Bill, reflecting on their friendship and shared experiences throughout the game. With the votes cast and the reunion approaching, the finalists anxiously await the outcome, eager to see who will be crowned the Sole Survivor.

Reunion
The reunion brings together the castaways, the jury, and fans to celebrate the conclusion of the season. As the votes are revealed, Bill emerges as the winner of the title of Sole Survivor, earning praise for his strong social gameplay and genuine connections with his fellow castaways. The audience erupts in cheers as Bill's fan club celebrates his victory, showcasing his popularity both within the game and among viewers. In a surprising turn of events, Wren is crowned the Fan Favorite, despite his challenging personality throughout the season, showcasing the unpredictable nature of audience voting. The production awards for the most strategic players are also announced, with Aries taking third place for her solid under-the-radar gameplay, followed by Mayday in second place for her strategic vision despite setbacks in execution. Finally, Claire is recognized as the most strategic player, praised for her strategic finesse, adept social game, and possession of two immunity idols.
With the winners celebrated and the season concluded, the castaways and fans reflect on the memorable moments and compelling gameplay of That Pokémon Survivor: Pokémon Square.

My thoughts: I was not so fond of the game beginning, I think the One World didn't have much effect on the game despite Claire getting the idol from Alexi. This was quite interesting as it was the same idol that Claire used to eliminate Alexi. The late merge was really quite interesting, I love seeing Bills storyline, I think he was quite ute in the first beginning of the game, but he played many risky moves to try to save potential allies and in the end game he really surprised me by deciding Mayday and Max eliminations. Claire was a huge standout since the beginning but her late game was quite weak. All the last remaining Maisha members were interesting.
Thanks for supporting this series, see you!

19 & 20/52 - Flight by Sherman Alexie & Waiting for Eden by Elliot Ackerman
Both are short novels and while I really enjoyed WFE, I thought Flight tried and failed to be deeper than it really was. For anyone who liked Johnny Got His Gun then I’d definitely recommend Waiting For Eden.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Waiting for Eden

The “Deliverer” Icon of the Mother of God (April 4th)
At the beginning of the XIX century the remarkable ascetic Constantine Theodoulos was living as a monk on Mount Athos. This Elder had a wonderworking Icon of the Theotokos, which had been painted about 150 years before. After this ascetic's repose, the Icon was passed on to Constantine's disciple, Schema-monk Martinian, who arrived on Mount Athos from Greece in 1821.
Early in 1841 Father Martinian left the Holy Mountain and went to the town of Mavrovouni in the diocese of Sparta, where many miracles were about to take place.
The residents of that place were afflicted by a terrible disaster: their fields, forests and almost all the vegetation was devastated by locusts. Moving forward in a solid mass, they destroyed everything in their path. Their flight took them right to the city of Marathon. The local authorities drove the residents out of their homes into the fields, forcing them to collect the destructive insects, dump them into pits, and then burn them, but all these measures were ineffective. It seemed that the more locusts they killed, the more their numbers increased.
People lost all hope for human assistance, so they chanted a Moleben, but the disaster did not end. Terrified, the villagers turned to Father Alexis, a man of God, who lived in a monastery near that unfortunate district. Taking some holy relics, this God-pleaser advised them to have a Moleben with a Cross Procession to their fields. The locusts, as if irritated by such actions, focused their attention on the worshippers. Countless insects attacked people, especially in their eyes. Both the residents and priests fled to their homes in horror.
Elder Martinian also learned about this disaster. After serving a Moleben, he spoke to the villagers: "Is our faith so weak that we cannot ask the Lord to help us? Let us intensify our prayers; at least let us gather the old men, and we will resort to the powerful intercession of the Queen of Heaven and Earth. Let us take her holy Icon and pray together, trusting in the Lord. He will not reject our humble prayer to Him, and, through the intercessions of His Mother, He will save this district from a great calamity."
The inhabitants followed the pious Elder's suggestion, with confidence in the merciful intercession of the Mother of God, they gathered not only old men, but also husbands, wives and even children. There were also four priests. The Cross Procession followed the Elder, who carried the holy Icon, and went into the field. There Father Martinian placed the Icon on the ground, and all the villagers bowed before it in supplication. The Sovereign Lady did not reject the prayers of the faithful servants of her Son and our God. She drove the locusts away. Suddenly, a great flock of birds appeared, rushing swiftly at the insects. The locusts rose from the fields and flew in such a thick mass that they obscured the sunlight.
Later, in the village of Mavrovouni there was a boy who was very sick, and his illness was getting worse. His parents asked the priest to bring him Communion. For some reason, however, the visiting priest did not hurry, and he did not arrive for a long time. He took the Holy Gifts and went to the boy's house. He had invited Elder Martinian to come with him. When they arrived at the house, they were shocked by the news that boy was already dead. The priest was filled with deep remorse, since his procrastination had deprived the child of his final spiritual consolation. The only hope left to them was to trust in God's mercy.
The priest asked Father Martinian to bring his Icon so they could pray to the Queen of Heaven for the boy. The Elder, seeing the deep faith of the priest and the devastated parents, took out the holy Icon which he always kept with him and placed it over the child's bed. Confident that nothing is impossible for the Sovereign Lady, the Elder, the priest, and parents bowed before the Icon, begging her to restore the child to life. After praying for a time, the Elder touched the dying boy three times with the Icon, and suddenly the child opened his eyes. At Father Martinian's request, the boy was given Holy Communion, and then got up perfectly well. The next day he went to school, where he had been sent shortly before this for his primary education. Later, the boy who returned to life was tonsured in a foreign country with the name Alexis, and for a long time he lived an ascetical life on Mount Athos.
News of this glorious miracle spread far through the neighborhood. Many people who suffered from physical and spiritual infirmities flocked to the Icon of the Mother of God with faith. The Elder's tiny home was always crowded with people and he decided to hide from them, but they found him again.
Father Martinian would not have minded visiting the sick with the Icon if their reverence for the Mother of God had not been mixed with a desire to glorify the Elder as well. He thought he should retire to a place where no one would find him. Therefore, he went by the sea shore and soon, above the ocean, he found a sheer rock with a cave, which was quite suitable for his ascetical struggles. Father Martinian thought he was completely secluded there. However, the good will of the Most Pure Virgin had arranged things otherwise.
One night the ascetic was praying in the cave. Suddenly, he heard a voice ordering him not to hide the Icon, but to minister to the needs of others. He tried to protest his unworthiness, and his infirmity, but the voice told him even more insistently to be obedient, saying that all this was for the glory of the Mother of God. When the Elder had finished his prayer, he decided to rest for a short time. Suddenly, at that moment, the cave was illumined with an extraordinary light. Surprised, the Elder came out onto the rock, desiring to know the source of such extraordinary radiance. The ascetic beheld a wondrous sight. He saw a pillar of light stretching from the sky to the ground, and in doing so, he heard again the same voice commanding him to leave his solitude and to go serve his neighbors. Thus, the ascetic opened his door to the residents of that vicinity.
There was a possessed woman named Elena, who used to shout all the time that she knew where the Elder was hiding. At the same time, she declared that only his Icon could heal her. The demon who possessed the woman was very fierce. He exposed the secret sins of all those who came to see Elena. One devout priest decided to read the prayers of exorcism over her no matter what happened. For that reason he went to Elena's house. Immediately, the woman attacked the priest and began to vilify the one who served at the altar, saying: "Aha! So you want to expel me? Are you thinking of casting me out? No, you cannot expel me, you will never drive me out. Look to yourself!"
Despite all the demon's words the priest continued to read the prayers, and asked the demon possessing the woman to reveal who could banish him. Against his will, the impure spirit spoke of a solitary Elder with an Icon, calling the ascetic a ragamuffin, an evil monk, and so on. Then the priest asked the demon where he might find this Elder. Then the demon, forced by the priest's prayers and by the power of God, revealed where Father Martinian was hiding.
The morning after the vision the Elder heard the sound of a large crowd of people gathered before the rock and begging him to come down to them to help the suffering. Seeing God's will in all this, the Elder obeyed and went to the homes of the villagers. First of all, he went to see Elena. As he approached her dwelling, she fell down unconscious and began to scream. When the Elder entered the house, he put down the Icon of the Mother of God and bowed before the Icon. At once, the demon came out of the woman with great moaning. She returned to her senses and fervently thanked the Theotokos. After this she felt quite well. Many other demoniacs were also healed by praying before her Icon.
Because of all the miracles taking place before the Icon, people were always in Father Martinian's home. The Elder finally decided to return to his monastery. When the people learned of his departure, they followed him for some distance. With a great cry they parted from the Elder as he walked away from them, carrying the Icon of the Mother of God, who had poured forth so much grace on their district.
In 1884, soon after he arrived on the Holy Mountain and entered the monastery of the Great Martyr Panteleimon, Father Martinian went to the Lord. Then the holy Icon of the Mother of God became the monastery's precious heritage. The revered Icon remained there until July 20, 1889, when Archimandrite Makarios, the Superior of Saint Panteleimon's Monastery, gave the Deliverer Icon as a blessing to the newly-built New Athos Monastery of Saint Simon the Canaanite in the Caucasus The Icon has been there from 1889 until the present day.
The first celebration of the transfer of the Icon to New Athos Monastery took place on October 17, 1889. That is why the Feast Day in honor of this Icon was established on this day. About that time a storm cast more than a ton of fish ashore at the monastery.
The Deliverer Icon of the Mother of God is commemorated on October 17, and on April 4.

2024.04.04 18:11 IrinaSophia The "Deliverer” Icon of the Mother of God (April 4th)

The
At the beginning of the XIX century the remarkable ascetic Constantine Theodoulos was living as a monk on Mount Athos.
2024.03.30 18:14 Intrigued_by_Words Weekly Wrap Up Monday March 25 - Friday March 29, 2024

This week Josslyn demanded to know "why should Jason have to stand trial for something he didn't do?" Only the mob's family could think that trials were only for the guilty.
They threatened to send Dante off for palliative care. Last week we did note that Dante was spending an inordinate amount of time recovering from his gunshot wounds. GH is unequipped to provide medical care. They don't have any doctors. They prefer it when their patients sneak out. Have you noticed they don't even serve meals. They know no one is staying.
Luckily Dante woke up and seems to be on the mend without having to go to a long term care facility. Rocco can go back to being a one comatose parent child.
Robert had Molly handle Jason's arraignment. Diane represented Jason. She was able to get him out on five million dollars bail. A dead man who shot a cop gets out on bail. The guy has been missing for years, he shows up and they believe he almost killed a cop and they let him out on bail. Apparently they didn't even make him give them an address where he would live while waiting for his trial. How many ways can you say flight risk?
Alexis gave Molly a pep talk and said she did a good job with the arraignment. They seemed to suggest that the 5 million was a lot. It is, if you aren't a Quartermaine. Michael paid the bail. I'm never sure where Michael's money comes from. Conceivably, he used money he has because of Sonny, which would be amusing since Sonny is big mad at Jason.
Sonny did not want to hear from Jason because he believes Jason shot Dante. Sonny could have taken it as an homage. As in Jason was just trying to be like Sonny, who shot Dante first. As it turns out, it was not a bonding moment. Jason's return from the dead this time was not a glorious reunion with everyone's favorite mobster.
We need to be charitable with Sonny, he's off his meds. Not on purpose. That dastardly knave Valentin made arrangements with Sonny's pharmacist to cut the dosage of his pills to control his bipolar disorder. Valentin has been working with the Pikeman WSB cutie to take out Sonny. They have tried all sorts of things unsuccessfully. I think they should try explaining that convoluted plot to Sonny and watch his head explode. You're tampering with medication to try to make him paranoid and dropping suggestions that a long dead associate is after him.
Now we know why they gave Heather the hip poisoning rationale for her murderous ways. This way we are not saying, just get Heather to kill him. She'll kill anybody. Well okay, that's wrong. I don't know why they came up with that, but we didn't see Heather this week.
We found out more about Jason and Jagger John's working relationship. Jason had no idea John Cates was Jagger Cates. I suppose if they had stuck with the previous actor, that would have been harder to explain. Anna and Robert had no problem recognizing him after two minutes, Jason had over two years. Anna was saying something about how they knew each other in high school. They knew one another long after that. Forget Karen, they were both connected through Robin.
I guess that was on par with Carly forgetting completely that there were rooms for rent above Kelly's now known to some as Bobbie's. Having her suddenly remember about that she had this space that was not generating income was so odd.
Jason's assignment was to infiltrate Pikeman and work his way up the ranks. Everything went smoothly until the other day. With Dante awake and saying that Jason didn't shoot him but he saved his life, Jason should be free to resume his pre-death activities.
Once it gets out that Jason didn't shoot Dante, he should be able to go back to the only job he has ever held. Except that there is that Demented Don plot they have going on. Ava seems to be in on it; which would be the only good reason to explain why she is so enthralled by Sonny these days. We still don't know the connections but I have my fingers crossed that it will wrap up the Austin Gatlin-Holt murder and subsequent terror plot.
Trina is mad and sad. She is mad that Jason probably shot Curtis and sad that Spencer is dead. She met up with Joss and confessed that she wished that Spencer could return just like Jason did. I thought that was a bad omen for poor Spence. How many times can GH repeat the same plots? Don't answer that.
If we are listing things we aren't going to talk about, put Trina's graveside soliloquy way at the top of that list. She said that she felt Spencer was near her when it rained. It was a wee bit too literal and circle of life. You know, like we are all just drinking dinosaur pee kinda thing. The girl should go find Taggart, that'll give her something to do.
Curtis floated a theory to Laura that Jason shot him on Sonny's orders. Whatever you need to tell yourself to get up out of that chair, but for real, that's a wacky theory. You should have taken the WSB job when it was offered.
Carly and Drew fell out quick. That was some great love story. LOL. He went to jail for her and now that Jason is back it is, Drew Who?
Ned has been a great comfort to his wife as she worries about the life of her son, so soon after she was worrying about her husband's life. Pysch - I have no idea where Ned is. I mean, I can see him hiding out because he had no interest in hearing about Brook Lynn's choice of wedding dresses, but I don't remember anyone even mentioning him. Maybe someone can plot out the timing of the tapings and figure out if Justin Kiriakis has a big storyline over on Days when they taped these scenes.
It is a rare episode where I would suggest that we should see Spinelli, but unlike Jason, I have to acknowledge his absence. He did ask about Monica who sent him a lunch box note delivered by Brook Lynn. He has not made his way back over to the house to see because the Q mansion is good for hiding out, not visiting, apparently.
Also missing in action is Charlotte. Dante is her stepdad. She should drop by the hospital and point out that even though she is a little bit smaller, it did not take her this much time to recover from her shooting.
Charlotte is also part of the teen scene, although I am lost about their current ages. Jake and Danny seem like they are now a year or two apart, at most. Jake should be a lot older than Danny. Charlotte, Aiden and Danny should be about the same age. Rocco and Georgie are the same age. That should be enough for the teen crowd to gather around the Metro Court pool in a few months. Certainly enough to take our minds off recently former teens Trina, Joss, Spence and Cam, with a side of Dex and Rory.
Lastly, missing in action for awhile will be me. I may still pop up in the sub, but I'm going to take April off from doing the weekly wrap ups. Enjoy the show.

2024.03.29 20:27 Runnershigh90 KNOCK... KNOCK... once you hear it, you have only one minute to get outside [Part 2]

Part 1
The next morning, I hop the stadium fence. Now I really need to clear my head.
I lazily tie my running shoes. Been working at half-speed this morning. A sleepless night will do that to you. But then again, how can you fall asleep when every creak jolts you awake?
I stretch out my Achilles. Still tender, but they say a full recovery can take up to 24 months. It was easy to recover from the ACL in high school, but an Achilles tear in your thirties hits differently. I hit start on my watch and try to work up to a sprint. I ain’t setting any records today.
Before I leave, I run into Ryan Rubino again. You can spot a guy wearing a visor a mile away. We chat for a bit longer this time. The distraction feels nice. He asks me if I want to get dinner with him. That would break all my rules of wanting to keep things casual. But then again, he knew me back when I was a rule-breaker… so I smile and say yes.
I get in my car and drive to work. I’d rather pay 45 bucks for parking than get clawed at by another crazy person. Or worse, be the crazy person clawing at someone.
Before I get to my desk, I stop by my supervisor’s desk and ask if I can work from home. He looks at me like I just requested to take his corner office suite. He then lectures me on the importance of having a collaborative work environment. I thank him for the TED Talk and leave.
I don’t spend a minute at my desk actually working. Not when you have Reddit to devour to try to find out what the fuck is happening to you. After endlessly scrolling through random subreddits, I find a couple of cryptic posts mentioning something similar happening—
IF YOU HEAR IT, RUN! YOU ONLY HAVE ONE MINUTE… Check.
THE LONGER YOU WAIT THE MORE INTENSE IT GETS… Check.
EACH PASSING DAY GETS WORSE. IT STARTS TO REVEAL ITSELF… Lovely.
I message each of the users. It’s not until a couple hours pass that I realize that none of the accounts have been active in weeks. WEEKS!
Call it a curse, hex, spell, voodoo bullshit, whatever you want. I just know that I can’t let it win. I can’t let it dictate my life. That’s when I come up with a game plan.
Unfortunately, I work on the 18th floor of a skyscraper. So, if the knocking happens at work then my odds of getting outside in time are slim. But maybe not impossible.
I look down at my watch and hit start. I quickly run past a row of cubicles and head straight for the staircase exit.
I sprint down 18 flights in a flurry. Descending down with rapid strides. My feet pound against the concrete. I push the side door open…. 1 minute and 35 seconds. FUCK!!
Stairs won’t work. I get back to my desk and chug some water. Let’s try option #2. ..
Once again, I hit start on my watch and sprint past the cubicles. My coworkers probably think I’m crazy. I slam the “down” button at the elevator bay. DING! It arrives within 10 seconds.
I press for the lobby and then repeatedly smash the “close” button. The elevator descends down. Nobody’s joined me so far. Count that as a win. I check my watch. Good timing. DING! The doors open and I sprint through the lobby and exit through the front…
56.86 seconds. Not a lot of room for error.
I consider this an eventful day at work and pack my things. Leaving a little early has never hurt anyone. Especially if it means you don’t die a miserable death in front of your coworkers.
I don’t typically do two-a-days, not since high school at least, but I don’t have any other option. I hop the fence. It’s time to train harder. Get faster. Stronger. I may not know how to stop this curse, but I can definitely outrun it.
I dig my shoes into the turf and press start. I finish the first lap in under 56 seconds. Jesus, I haven’t ran that fast since college.
I take a short break and go again. I’m not just determined anymore. No, I’m mad. Pissed. And let me tell you, when you run with rage, you can really fucking fly…
I break 55 seconds. I give myself another short break and then line up again. I dig my shoes into the turf and press start…
My adrenaline takes over. I’m on pace to break 53 seconds. I round the turn and—
POP! I tumble to the ground, grabbing my leg. Please, not my Achilles. Not again.
I try to walk it off but I can barely put weight on my foot.
I just pray it’s a minor strain.
***
I attempt to fall asleep, but the biting cold makes it nearly impossible. Yet, the sad reality is, there's no chance of me catching any sleep tonight. For the second consecutive night, the freezing temperatures and the anxiety of the knocking hold me captive. In moments like these, I wish Alexis was still here. She was the only person who could calm me down.
I grab my laptop and log into Facebook. Jesus, the suburbs have changed me. I try to remember my login information but it’s been years since I’ve used it. After a few attempts, I log in and browse through photos of Alexis and me. A collage of drunk memories.
I reach into my pocket and take out the lighter. I juggle it between my fingers as I click through the photos. If I linger too long on any particular photo I begin to cry. I keep clicking, basking in the nostalgia. But then— I jolt backward... There's something in the background of one of the photos.
That demon-like figure. The same one that stood behind me in the kitchen. I rub my eyes and try to look closer but… the figure is gone. Fuck. I really need to get some sleep.
I toss and turn in bed. I look outside and realize I only have one option…
I open my closet and take out a bunch of clothes: thermal long johns, fleece sweater, wool leggings, snow jacket and pants.
I become a Russian doll of warmth.
I grab every blanket I have and bring it to the deck outside.
Nothing like camping in your backyard in the dead of winter.
At least I can close my eyes.
***
Two days have passed and my leg still doesn’t feel better. I’ve pushed off getting an MRI. Being locked into a machine for 45 minutes feels like it’s tempting fate. The alternative is that my leg doesn’t get better and then I’m really tempting fate. That’s when I make my decision.
Injected with gadolinium, I'm instructed to remain motionless. They give me a button to use for communication. I look at the doctor and ask “What happens if I hear a loud noise?” The doctor calmly responds, "That's to be expected. It's why you have the headphones." Ah, yes. It’s cute that you think headphones will drown out the satanic knocking noise.
They strap me onto a table. “Claustrophobia is normal. Just try to stay still.” I simply nod back at them. Claustrophobia is normal. Getting assaulted by some demonic entity isn’t.
The table begins its slow journey toward the machine. I close my eyes. My finger hovers over the button. Ready to push it at a moment’s notice. I know that I can leave this room, dart down the hallway, and get to the back exit in about 45 seconds. I calculated it while waiting in the lobby.
The machine powers on. It creates a cacophony of loud thuds and whirs. I open my eyes. That was a mistake. Sweat drips down. I begin to breathe rapidly. Fuck, am I staying still enough? My heart races, doubts creep in. The thuds intensify, echoing louder.
And then I hear—
A KNOCK. Or so I think. The line between reality and illusion blurs, and I lose focus. Disorientation takes hold, and before I know it, my eyes close, and my body goes limp.
And then, consciousness slips away.
***
I open my eyes to find a group of nurses hovering above me. Guess I’m not dead. They check on me and tell me that I passed out. None of the doctors realized it until the scan was over.
A sense of relief passes over me. I collect my things and get out of there as fast as I can.
As the day goes on my leg begins to feel better. Maybe the rest is working. I’ll know more next week. I stumble into work, late once again. If I wasn't a consultant I would have been fired days ago. I know that because everyone else here gives me a jealous glare.
I take a seat at my desk and finally get to work. I just need two, maybe three uninterrupted hours.
I open my marketing deck and start making tweaks. And then… a SHADOW APPEARS.
My head snaps to the window, revealing a man wielding a bright yellow squeegee— phew, just the window washing crew.
After doing the minimum amount of work to justify my hourly rate, I log back into Reddit. I still haven’t received any messages back. They must all be on a tropical vacation, enjoying themselves after successfully beating this curse. That’s the only rational explanation, right?
I think about what other research I can do. I tap my pen on my desk, thinking.
Tap tap.
My eyes widen. That wasn’t me. Oh, fuck…
I start my watch and leap out of my desk. I sprint directly to the elevators, dodging anyone in my way. I’ve been preparing for this moment all week.
I repeatedly hit the call button. I look down at my watch, only 12 seconds have lapsed.
TAP… TAP…
I try to ignore the sound. My foot anxiously shakes. The elevator is taking forever.
KNOCK. KNOCK.
My eyes dart in whatever direction I hear the noise. Up, down. Left, right. I can’t stop following it. The knocking gets louder. My eyes dart rapidly. I can’t control my head anymore.
KNOCK. KNOCK. KNOCK. KNOCK.
All of a sudden… Everything turns upside down. I can’t find the elevator button. Doesn’t matter, I don’t have time anymore. I look around, still disoriented…
I see a sign…
⊥IXƎ
Shit. That’s the staircase. Not enough time for that either. I need to find another way to get out.
I steady my breathing. I need to focus. Get back to seeing straight.
C’mon Delaney. You’ve got this. You’ve fucking GOT THIS.
KNOCK… KNOCK... KNOCK… KNOCK…
Now focused, I see that my coworkers are staring at me. I look at my watch, I only have 30 seconds left. And I’m stuck on the 18th fucking floor.
My head whips around. Searching for an exit. And then I realize there’s only one way to escape.
KNOCK… KNOCK... KNOCK… KNOCK…
Computer monitors fly at me. I dodge them, having no idea if they are real or not. The lights from above come crashing down. I keep going, ignoring everything.
I go into the break room and grab a metal chair. Only 20 seconds left. I rush to the window and—
BANG!!! I throw the chair against the window.
I start to see the shadowy figure. It stares directly at me. FUCK YOU.
BANG!!!
The window cracks. My coworkers try to stop me but I fight them off. Only 10 seconds left. I let out a primal scream and fling the chair again…
BANG!!!
The window starts to shatter. 5 seconds. I see the figure clearer. Red pulsating eyes. 3 seconds. It taunts me. I use all my strength and launch the chair one final time at the window…
BANG!!!
The window shatters and I leap out. Free-falling as my watch hits 60 seconds.
I open my arms, bracing for impact.
BAM!
I land onto the scaffolding two stories below. Thank god it was window washing day.
I hoist myself onto the platform next to the window washing guy. He blinks wildly at me. I catch my breath. My coworkers hover over the edge of the broken window, aghast.
I exhale a sigh of relief. I look up and request someone to grab my things.
I don’t think I’ll be going to work tomorrow.
***
A waiter leads us to the table closest to the front, as per my request, of course.
Ryan pulls my chair out for me. Didn’t expect such chivalrous behavior from a visor-wearing gym teacher. Tonight he looks cleaned up though.
After the tumultuous day I had, including launching myself out of an office building, I decided to text Ryan. I crave a distraction and, who knows, he might have information about the student who bolted out of the classroom.
My gaze drifts down to the menu. I don’t normally do dinner dates. What do I get?
“You've been here before, right?” Ryan attempts some small talk. “Never,” I reply.
“Wait. Seriously? Best pasta in Cook County. Especially to carb load.”
“Oh, I didn’t realize we had a track meet tomorrow?” I playfully grin back.
Ryan laughs. “Don’t you miss those days?”
“That I could eat a plate full of pasta and still look like a twig?”
“All of it,” Ryan says with a nostalgic smile. “I just miss all of it.”
We continue to reminisce about high school. The pranks we pulled. The parties we attended. The people. Wondering where everyone ended up. It's only when Ryan briefly leaves for the bathroom that I realize, for the first time in years, I'm not instinctively looking for an exit on a date. More importantly, it's the first time in days that I haven't thought about the knocking.
Upon his return, and after some playful banter, Ryan broaches the topic of "hopping the fence." I attempt to change the subject, but he persists. “Is it because of Alexis?” he asks.
Shit.
He wants to get serious.
I look up at him and nod, trying to fight back tears. Discussing Alexis feels like navigating an emotional minefield. Even my parents knew better than to bring her up.
But I can't lie to him.
With a somber exhale, I open my mouth, ready to talk…
***
It was the winter of 2007, our senior year.
Alexis, in her cardinal red Stanford sweatshirt, and I, sporting my blue and gold UCLA gear, had committed to our respective schools out west, both getting a full-ride. We were ready to get out of this bubble. Out of Illinois. Out of the cold.
Courtney Miller’s parents were in the city for a Bulls game so she decided to have a bunch of people over. Play some beer pong. Flip cup. You know, practice for college.
Alexis wasn’t drinking that night. Still nursing a hangover from the night before.
We were all laughing, drinking, smoking. Living our best lives until I received a buzzkill of a text—my mom was having a seizure, and I needed to rush home.
I stumbled out the door, keys in hand, navigating through thick, slushy snow. Just as I was about to drive away, a knock on my car window startled me. It was Alexis.
“The fuck are you doing?”
“Going home.”
“You’re drunk!”
“I’m good. I’m fine. I promise,” I stammered.
Alexis gave me a look. “Give me the keys. I’ll drive.”
Rolling my eyes, I handed her the keys. The car skidded as Alexis peeled out, knowing I was due for new tires. "You're an idiot," she smiled.
“I know.”
We blasted music and chatted, reminiscing about our senior year, the parties, and the people. Alexis reached into her pocket and handed me a disposable lighter. "Here. Keep this," she said. "Light it whenever you're feeling alone, and it'll be like I am right there with you."
A cheap disposable lighter suddenly meant the world to me. I pocketed it and thanked her with a smile. Our conversation shifted to Courtney, and I encouraged Alexis to make a move, but she confessed to still figuring things out, nervous about her first kiss.
I told Alexis there was nothing to be nervous about. She said girls are different. We turned to each other and laughed—
BERRRRRRR BERRRRRRRRRR.
Suddenly, our laughter was interrupted by a blaring horn. A big rig approached, prompting Alexis to swerve, sending the car skidding off the road.
BANG!
The next thing I know, I found myself hanging upside down. Slowly opening my eyes—
KNOCK KNOCK.
A sharp knocking sound on the glass. I turned to see Alexis attempting to break it to escape. Bloodied fists pounded against the driver side window, a piece of wood puncturing her chest.
The car was upside down, on the side of the road, smashed into a fallen tree.
KNOCK KNOCK.
Alexis kept pounding, her efforts growing weaker. Broken glass surrounded me as I struggled to unbuckle my seatbelt—
My knee twisted, pain coursing through me as I crawled out through the shattered window—
KNOCK KNOCK.
I heard her knocking, desperate and faint. Yelling for her to keep breathing, I limped towards her side. The knocking turned into a light tapping sound as I reached out to save her.
But it was too late.
No more knocking. No more tapping. I just saw Alexis’s lifeless body.

“So, who wants dessert?” the waitress interrupts with a giant smile. Talk about terrible timing.
Ryan shakes his head and requests the bill. After the waitress leaves, Ryan reaches for my hand. At first, it feels uncomfortable, forced almost. But then I decide it’s time to finally let my guard down. I embrace his warm and calming presence.
“The medics told me that she died upon impact. But I didn’t believe it. Still don’t. I really think I could have gotten there in time. I know I could have,” I tell him as I whisk a tear away.
Guilt kicks in, and I become tense. Ryan tries to reassure me that it was out of my control, but his eyes tell a different story.
I exhale deeply and dry my tears. “She could have gone to Stanford. Set records. At the very least, she could have gotten the hell out of here,” I say as I compare that dream-like scenario to my own shitty reality.
Ryan signs the receipt and looks up at me. “You couldn’t help Alexis; I know that pains you. But that doesn’t mean you can’t help others…”
I shake my head, not understanding. “I think you’d be a great coach,” he says in a tone that suggests there’s a job opening.
I shrug and tell him, “Visors don’t look good on me.”
We both laugh.
Before I know it, we’re back at his place. Yanking each other’s clothes off. I need a minute to catch my breath but I can’t stop kissing him.
I slide off my pants as he gets on top of me. He kisses my stomach. I lay my head down and my eyes roll back, basking in this moment. He continues to work his way down when—
Tap tap.
No no no no no. Fuck that. This can’t actually be happening. NOT RIGHT NOW.
I don’t get up, not yet at least. Maybe I was just hearing things? I run my hands through Ryan’s hair trying to enjoy the moment—
Tap tap.
My head darts up.
“Sorry, I’ll go slower,” Ryan says. I shake him off of me and quickly grab my clothes.
“That was amazing! Truly,” I say as I frantically slide my underwear back on.
“Uhhh… So good that you have to leave mid-way?”
Tap tap.
I finish putting my clothes on and I dart out of the room.
“Wait!! Delaney, wait!! Ryan says as he chases after me.
Tap tap.
My body shakes after each tapping sound. Ryan notices something is off, “That sound. It’s nothing. I promise. It’s just the water dripping from my sink.”
Wait, how does he hear the sound too?
Whatever. I don’t have time. I swing my jacket on and stumble out his front door. I walk home in a fit of anger. I can’t let this thing continue to torment me.
As I walk home, the streetlights above me flicker on and off. I feel like I’m going insane. It’s almost been a week now. I’m physically and emotionally drained. I can’t spend my life jumping out of office buildings. I ball up my fists and SCREAM. It echoes down the empty street.
I can’t shake the anxiety. I fall to my knees as I struggle to breathe. A car flashes its lights behind me. I don’t look back; I just want it to go away. The car slowly approaches. The windows roll down…
Ryan asks if I want a ride home. I shake my head stubbornly. Little does he know that this is my safe place. Outside. In the fucking cold.
He insists. The last thing I want to do is talk about this. He slowly follows along in the car.
“Delaney, just get inside. It’s freezing,” he tells me, now in a more demanding voice.
“I can’t. It’s not safe.”
“I promise. It won’t hurt you,” he tells me.
Wait.
I look at him.
And that’s when he tells me…
“I hear it too.”

My personality traits if they were real people (using my 4 different names) (also what flair do I use-)
Slide 1: Lexi My favorite of my names (and my chosen name), which means it's my main one Also more emotional then the others (ie. sadness and anger) Considered the oldest of the personality traits and the defacto "leader" (sucks at it tho but is better at it then the others)
Slide 2: Alexis My innocence and energetic/bubbly personality trait, as well as most of my clumsiness Alexis is also mischievousness and playful jokester She's also my sassiness (but in a cute/annoying way) Alexis is ALSO my impulsiveness and obliviousness Also considered the youngest of the personality traits
Slide 3: Alexandria My nerdyness about my interests, as well as my logical/smart (not super smart hehe) personality trait and neat-freak (tho that part rarely comes up and only happens when I'm actually told to clean because I will absolutely try my hardest to make sure it's spotless when I'm asked to clean something) Considered the second oldest personality trait Alexandria is also the plan-maker and one comes up with all of the template ideas when making OCs
Slide 4: Alexandra My shy and introverted personality trait, as well as my fear and anxiety My inability to Fight OR Flight when I'm in the position that I HAVE to Fight or Flight Considered the 2nd youngest personality trait (The several bandages represent how i tend to get myself hurt out of fear of... getting hurt- its complicated I know but sometimes I accidentally get more hurt trying to avoid something then actually not avoiding that thing)

2024.03.21 22:04 Meh_340 Hell Hath No Fury Chapter 8

I did reference the Castle book Heat Rises. I think that should have been the book he was finishing up that summer. If you've read it, you'll get it, but if you haven't I think I still explained it enough to where you should be alright without reading the specific scene in question. If not, let me know, and I'll fill you in!
This chapter begins where the last one left off.
I still don’t own Castle…
xxxxx
Kate took her time that morning, taking a long and hot shower before getting dressed. Grabbing the Patterson book she’d brought up to her room but hadn’t read the night before, she headed downstairs with the plan of returning it to his library and selecting a book she really did want to read. “Did you really think hiring a butler was going to impress me, Castle?” she asked lightly when she saw him sitting on the couch in his office.
Chuckling, he took a drink of his coffee and shook his head. “No. Trust me, I have so many ideas of things to do to impress you, but hiring a butler is not on that list,” he informed her. “The butler is for my benefit.” Seeing her turn her attention to him, he continued. “I’m supposed to be taking it easy. With my mother and Alexis being back in the city during the week, I needed someone to help with the general day-to-day. A butler hurt my ego less than a home health nurse,” he admitted with a small smile. “Alfred is here during the week, and my mother and Alexis take care of the weekends.”
She nodded her understanding. “And once school is out, your mother and Alexis will be here full-time to take care of you, so it’s just temporary.”
He shrugged. “I’ll keep Alfred on through the end of the summer. That way they can go back to the city to be with their friends or what have you without feeling guilty about it,” he told her. “And I’ll have you here,” he added with a hopeful smile.
She bit back a slight smile at his words. “I didn’t promise you I was staying all summer,” she reminded him as she returned her attention to his bookshelves.
“But you didn’t say no either,” he pointed out. “So, done with Patterson, hmm?” he gestured to where she had returned the book from the previous night.
“You know, he didn’t quite hit the spot I’d hoped for,” she gave him a coy smile.
He grinned at that. “Well if you’re looking for a good read, may I suggest something from the Storm series…”
She laughed softly. “Actually, I was searching for a book with a little more substance,” she teased him. “‘The wind gathered up her hair’ isn’t really a phrase I’m looking to read today,” she continued with a playful smirk.
He pouted slightly before getting an idea. “Ok, so not Storm. Could I tempt you with some Heat?” he asked.
“I’m not so self-absorbed that I want to read about my alter ego,” she laughed, shaking her head.
“Even if it’s chapters that you haven’t read before?” he arched an eyebrow in her direction.
She studied him for a moment, trying to get what he was suggesting. “The only ones would be…Castle, are you offering to let me read your next Heat novel in advance?” Because if he was, that would definitely impress her.
“No…no, of course not, Gina would kill me,” he told her quickly. He did notice her face fall a little. “I’m offering to read you a few chapters from Heat Rises that I haven’t sent in yet.” He watched her eyes light up a little and knew he’d hooked her. “As long as you promise you won’t post the content on any of my fansites,” he added teasingly.
She studied him another moment. He was being serious with his offer, she realized, and she tugged her lower lip between her teeth. One of her favorite authors had just offered her a private, advance reading of a book he’d written about a character he’d based on her…a reading that, from the way he spoke, would be the first time anyone other than himself had read it. She was flattered…more than flattered…so much so that she didn’t even catch his teasing her about being a fan. “I…I would like that,” she admitted with a smile.
He returned her smile and nodded, gesturing for her to get comfortable on the couch while he got up and moved to his desk to get his laptop. Once he’d returned to the couch, he got comfortable as well, mimicking her position with his back leaned against the arm of the couch facing her, their feet touching in the middle couch cushion.
He watched her as he read, studying her carefully as she closed her eyes to simply listen to his voice. He watched her face react to certain words, dialogue, and certain scenes. He wasn’t sure how she would react to the beginning…the way Rook’s absence had mirrored his own a summer ago, aside from the fact that Rook and Heat were in a relationship at the time, and he and Beckett…well…weren’t. Though they could be soon, he found himself thinking.
For the most part, she kept her eyes closed, simply listening to his words, watching the scene play out in her mind. Her eyes did open and she shifted uncomfortably as the memories from the previous summer were brought back, though she had thought she’d put those behind her. Apparently, she hadn’t put those feelings as far behind her as she’d thought; they still struck a little bit of a nerve. Her eyes searched his, though, as he read Rook’s apology to Nikki and something in the way he looked at her told her that he was apologizing to her too. She only had a moment to contemplate it, though, because Nikki was forgiving Rook pretty easily…with her mouth on his.
It was a short love scene…two paragraphs…but it was enough to make her eyes darken as they locked with his and push her upright a little more, closer in his direction. Castle had to swallow hard at her reaction. He wasn’t sure what kind of reaction he’d expected from her, hearing a love scene between their alter egos from his lips as he read to her…but in reality, it was more intimate, more erotic than he had initially thought, and he suddenly wasn’t sure how great of an idea it had been to read this far into the book with her in front of him; teasing and flirting was one thing, but this felt like…well…almost like verbal sex with her…hot and dirty in the best ways without either of them taking off any clothing or even touching the other; the only contact was between their eyes, which never wavered. He watched as she bit her lip and her chest moved with shallow, soft pants, and suddenly he was finding the room very, very hot and his own breathing was a bit erratic.
She wasn’t sure how long they sat staring into each other’s eyes, both having to calm themselves down. Her eyes finally broke the contact they’d held with his and she relaxed back against the arms of the couch in the same position she’d started when he began reading to her. And when he continued, it took only one sentence before she was laughing.
“What’s so funny?” he had to ask. It was 1 sentence after the love scene…he definitely had not been going for a comedic tone.
“I’m sorry…” she laughed, trying to get it a little more under control. “I’m sorry, it’s just…‘her naked thigh draped over Jameson Rook’s magnificent ass…’” she laughed a little more before managing to bite it back into a very amused smile. “Egotistical much?”
“I’ll have you know that Rook having a magnificent ass has nothing whatsoever to do with the fact that I also have a magnificent ass,” he defended himself, but he couldn’t help but smile a little.
She had to bite her lip harder to keep from laughing again. “Sure…whatever you need to tell yourself,” she gestured for him to continue. But a few sentences later, she was laughing again. “‘Does sex help your writing?’” she had to hold her ribs now because laughing really did hurt them.
“It’s a legitimate question to a writer from his girlfriend,” he defended himself. She finally managed to stop laughing again and sat up a little more to try to get more comfortable. “If you’re going to be mean about it, I don’t have to read you anymore.”
She offered him an apologetic smile. “No…no, I’m sorry. No more laughing. It was just a little over the top, is all. But an excuse I could totally expect you to try to use as a way to get sex. I’m honestly a little surprised you never tried it out with me in the beginning.”
“I would have if I’d thought it would have worked,” he admitted with a shrug.
She raised an eyebrow slightly. “You’d have a better shot of it working now than you did when we first met. I actually like you now.”
His lips curved into a grin at her words. “Is that so?”
She caught look in his eyes and her eyes widened a little. “A better shot, Castle! I never said it would work, just that you’d have a better shot now!” she insisted.
“What I heard was you telling me you like me and that I have a good shot at sex with you,” he stated smugly with a grin.
She rolled her eyes at that. “Shut up and keep reading. I won’t laugh again,” she promised with a small smile. She kept her word as he resumed reading to her, though there wasn’t much to laugh at. Her eyes darkened again as the fictional characters actually made it to her bedroom this time and there was talk of being too close to know whose sweat was on her body–hers or his. Her eyes found his again as Nikki and Rook talked about exclusivity in their relationship over a sushi take out dinner, and by the time he’d finished his current chapter, Kate was so caught up in the story, that she actually jumped a little when she heard a knock on the office door.
“Sir, Ma’am, lunch is ready at your convenience. Would you like me to serve it in here?” Alfred asked from his position at the door.
“Uh no, Alfred. You can set it up on the back porch if you don’t mind. I think we could probably use some fresh air at this point,” Castle told him.
“Very good, Sir.”
Once he’d left, Castle closed his laptop and stood. “So what do you think about the new book?”
She smiled, standing and stretching out a little. “I think I’m hoping Alfred can get us some sushi for dinner tonight,” she told him honestly, hoping her reference to the scene he’d just read to her about their alter egos’ sushi dinner would maybe hint to him that she wanted the same from him…exclusivity and a relationship.
He glanced up quickly at her words. “I think if Alfred can’t make sushi, that he can certainly figure out where to get us some,” he promised, hoping the subtext he was reading actually meant what he thought it did.
“Good. I think I’d like my own sushi dinner with you,” her smile a little shy this time.
“Yeah, me too,” he returned her smile. Just as he’d done the previous evening, he took her hand, smiling as she was the one to lace her fingers with his, and they made their way to the back porch for lunch.
xxxxx
The week went by relatively quickly…too quickly for Castle’s taste. It had been relaxing. They spent time as friends, reading quietly in the same room as each other, having pleasant and slightly romantic dinners together, and generally just enjoying each other’s company without the pretense of work or cases or anything else. And when Castle had his home health visits from a physical therapist or needed to write, Kate was happy to entertain herself by reading outside or walking on the beach.
Neither had brought up an actual discussion about their relationship, they’d simply let the week take its course. There had been plenty of hand-holding, instigated by both of them, and it was unspoken between them that he didn’t have to wait for her to lace their fingers now, he could do it himself and she wouldn’t pull away.
When they sat together, they sat close enough to touch in some way, and there had been a lot of flirting and innuendo in their conversations, though fate…or mostly Alfred…had the uncanny ability to appear just as they were having a moment or breaths away from a kiss–much to Kate’s amusement and Castle’s dismay, so much to the point that he was beginning to regret hiring a butler for the summer. If there had been a doubt about where they were headed when she showed up at the beginning of the week, there was no longer one by the end of the week for either of them; all that was left was to have a real conversation about it.
Kate had spent the first part of Friday afternoon after lunch packing up her bag while he worked with his physical therapist in his office. She was just coming down the stairs with her bag when she saw the therapist leave through the front door, and Castle’s disappointed face at seeing her bag ready to leave. “Feel like a walk on the beach with me before I head back to the city?” she asked him softly. She knew he was disappointed and that he’d hoped she would stay.
“With you? Always,” he agreed, taking her hand in his once she’d dropped her bag by the door.
The walk to the beach was quiet as were the first few minutes of their walk once they’d slipped their shoes off before stepping in the sand. Finally, it was she who broke the silence. “This week has been really nice, Rick,” she started softly.
“Obviously not nice enough for you to stay,” he murmured.
She stopped at the edge of the line where the ocean hit the sand as waves broke onto the shore. “I know you’re disappointed, but I have to go back to the city this weekend,” she told him softly. “I’m supposed to meet my dad for lunch on Sunday, and I’m out of clothes.” Seeing him open his mouth, she quickly placed two fingers over his lips so that she could finish. “But I’d like to come back after that,” she added with a smile, dropping her fingers from his lips to signify he could respond now that she was done.
“I’d like that too,” he met her smile then.
“Good…it would have been a little awkward if I’d driven back out here otherwise,” she gave him a gentle tug to start walking again. “How many weeks of school does Alexis have left?” she asked him curiously after a few moments.
“3. Why?” he asked, not sure what his daughter’s school schedule had to do with anything.
“Have you mentioned to her that you asked me to stay here all summer?” she asked curiously.
“No, because I didn’t know you had the summer off,” he pointed out with a small smile.
Right. She realized he hadn’t known that until this week, and by that point, Alexis had already gone back to the city. “I think you should make sure it’s okay with her. And with your mother.”
He stopped walking and studied her for a moment. “Why wouldn’t it be okay with them?”
She looked away at his question and was quiet for another moment. “Because what’s happening between us might not exactly thrill either one of them, especially Alexis.”
He gently lifted her chin to look at him. “What’s happening between us?”
She took a deep breath and released it slowly. She had started the conversation, she may as well go through with it. “I think we both know we’re way beyond partners or even friends at this point,” she said softly. “At least, I hope you know that. I want us to be more than that,” she met his eyes.
“I want us to be more than that too,” he smiled, his thumb gently stroking her cheek.
She rested her hand over his on her cheek and decided she was finally brave enough to continue. “I’m not good at this…relationship…stuff, or talking about my feelings. I’m not easy to be with. I hide, and I push people away when they get too close. I just…ever since my mom, there’s been a wall there to protect me from getting hurt again…” she trailed off. She was glad he didn’t say anything, knew he was giving her time to find the words to say whatever she wanted to say.
“You were right before…I have hidden in relationships with men I don’t love…it was just safer that way. With you it’s different…you’re not safe,” she finally continued. “You got through my wall somehow,” she explained softly, hoping he understood the unspoken, You could hurt me. “But that day at the hospital when I wasn’t sure if you were going to make it, I realized it didn’t matter how far or where I tried to hide, I can’t hide from the way I feel for you. So I’m done hiding. I’m all in,” she finished, biting her lower lip a little nervously.
His smile only grew as he listened to her. “Well for starters, you’re not as bad as you think at this talking about your feelings thing. I think you just did a pretty good job,” he complimented her. “You also didn’t tell me anything I didn’t already know about you in a relationship. I know you push people away, I know you hide and aren’t a talker…I know you are the most remarkable, maddening, challenging, frustrating, extraordinary woman I have ever met. So if you’re all in, I am too.”
She smiled at his words, closing the distance between them with a tender kiss, not waiting for fate or Alfred or anyone else to interrupt them before it could happen this time. She pulled away when she felt him start to deepen the kiss. “I’ve got to go,” she murmured.
Castle breathed deeply, his hands moving to her waist. “Really? I have been trying to kiss you all week, and now that it finally happens, you’re running away?”
She laughed softly. “Not running,” she promised him. “I really do need to get back to the city, and I’d like to leave early enough so I don’t get stuck in traffic…and before Alexis shows up,” she explained. “Besides, neither one of us is in the best physical shape right now,” she reminded him of their injuries. “You can’t handle a flight of stairs, so I know there’s no way you could physically handle me,” she teased slightly.
"Doesn't mean I wouldn't like to try," he pouted a little, but he knew she was right. As much as he wanted to try to handle her, she would probably kill him by making his heart explode. “We’ve got really bad timing,” he murmured.
She laughed again. “I don’t know. I did manage to get the next 3 months off…and I’d say the thought of my 'naked thigh draped over your magnificent ass' is incentive enough to push yourself through your physical therapy,” she recounted the words from Heat Rises that she’d given him such a hard time about when he’d read it to her earlier that week.
“The thought of your naked anything is enough to give me incentive.”
“See?” she laughed. “Come on, walk me back. Don’t pout and I’ll give you a kiss before I go.”
He brightened up a little at that, his hand finding hers again as they walked back toward his house.
She kept her promise, stopping at the door before she picked up her bag and kissed him softly. “I’ll see you Sunday evening,” she promised. She picked up her bag and opened the door, but before stepping through it she pressed a last kiss to his lips, longer and a little deeper than the last two as this time she slid her tongue across his lips. “Sunday,” she murmured softly when she pulled away with a smile at his dazed look, before finally heading to her car.
They were both going to have to heal quickly because she wasn’t sure how long either of them would be able to keep from getting too physical now that they’d defined their relationship and were so close to being able to act on 3 years of pent-up tension.

Lorelai is excited to be in Paris her idea of the most beautiful city in the world (I disagree I vote London) Lorelai wants a nap but Chris wants her to adjust to Paris time. (When I arrived at 7A we did touristy stuff until 4P and then I fell asleep for 15 hours and I was 18.

Paris is asking Rory about her post graduate plans and if she has anti-depressants. She recommends Rory hang out with Lucy and Olivia

Zach and Lane are having dinner with Mrs. Kim. She is trying to make polite conversation. Mrs. Kim says she knows they are avoiding her and she thinks because no new music. Lane yells out that she is pregnant. Mrs. Kim congratualates them and says they must move in with her and Zach thinks it's cool.

Lorelai wakes up in the middle of the night and is upset because it is 4A and there is no mini bar. There is no room service at 4A Chris suggests sensibly that they go back to sleep and wait for breakfast They both stare at the ceiling and can't fall asleep. Chris suggests they look for a restaurant,

Rory calls Olivia and she is making a mobile for her sister's baby. Lucy is watching reality tv because boyfriend hates it. Rory invites them to Stars Hollow

Chris and Lorelai are walking and can't find a place open. They chase the breadman Lorelai remembers a time when Chris gave her lunch in 10th Grade when she had to make up a test.

Zach and Lane are fighting in the diner because Lane is mad because they are going to move in with Mrs. Kim. Luke is overprotective as well. Lane realizes they are going to be parents and don't have to listen to her Mom.

Chris and Lorelai have sex but are still starving and Chris says he will fix it. Rory, Olivia and Lucy are coloring there hair Amazingly they find Rory's growth markers on her door and they have her at seven even though she didn't move in until she was eleven,

Chris paid a restaurant to open, He has nice memories of when they were young and the one big thing thas has changed is he is very rich. Chris looks at her and loves her so much. She is just getting caught up in memories of being sixteen. She tells him she loves him.

They go to talk to Mrs. Kim. They tell her they appreciate the offer to move in with her but they want to be in their own home. She respects their decision.

Rory has pink hair, Lucy and Olivia are purple and green. Rory starts to cry that everything is ending. This is actually the best crying Alexis ever did. Rory is wondering if she should go to grad school or law school.

Lorelai and Chris finish dinner for breakfast. Lorelai doesn't ever want it to end. Chris says he doesn't want to wait until she figures them out. She thinks it's too soon. She says a few months he says twenty five years. She brings up Rory and he says Rory will be thrilled. If she had the sense God gave a turnip she would have said no.

Mrs. Kim is baby proofing the house. She wants to move in with them and she has moved Brian in with relatives of hers.

Lucy introduces Rory to her boyfriend who is Marty and pretends that he and Rory don't know each other.
Lorelai and Chris arrive home and you can tell when he calls her Mrs. Hayden that she knows she has made the biggest mistake of her life.

It has taken me weeks to watch this episode because I hate it so much. I never remember what episode Rory had pink hair in because it's this one.

2024.03.09 06:51 madmag23 Serie A 2023/2024 Gameweek 28 Prediction

SATURDAY 09 MARCH 2024 (GMT +7)
Cagliari vs Salernitana
Claudio Ranieri’s side is unbeaten in their last three games in the competition and last time out they ended their six-game winless run by overcoming the challenge from Empoli away from home. They won the game 1-0 courtesy of Jakub Jankto’s 1st goal of the season. Despite five points added from their last three games in Serie A, they remain 18th but have the same number of points as Verona at 17th. They have a good opportunity to temporarily climb out of the relegation zone this weekend as they will welcome the visit of bottom-of-the-league team Salernitana at Unipol Domus. Encouragingly, Cagliari is unbeaten in the last five meetings with Salernitana in Seri A with two wins and three draws recorded. On the other side, Salernitana's winless run in the league continued last week after they held Udinese to a 1-1 draw at Dacia Arena. They failed to use their one-man advantage after Udinese was playing with 10 men since the 64th minute after Festi Ebosele was shown a red card for double bookings. That result was not enough to lift Fabio Liverani’s side from the bottom of the table and they would be aiming to add more points to their tally when they are facing a team that is also sitting in the relegation zone. Ranieri will be without some of his first team players here with Simone Aresti, Zito Luvumbo, Leonardo Pavoletti, Marco Mancosu, and Marko Rog expected to miss out due to injury this afternoon. Meanwhile, Liverani will only have Norbert Gyomber as their only confirmed absentee for this game as Jerome Boateng and Niccolo Pierozzi will be hoping to be fit enough to be included in the bench here. Without a doubt, it will be a feisty encounter between the two teams struggling to get away from the danger zone but I’m backing Cagliari to edge this one in the end.
Prediction: 55 – 45
Sassuolo vs Frosinone
Two teams struggling to find their rhythm this season, Sassuolo and Frosinone will face each other this afternoon at Mapei Stadium. The home side recorded seven losses in their last eight league games (W1) while the visitor could only pick up 6 points from their last 14 matches in Serie A. Sassuolo trusted Davide Ballardini as their new manager last week but his debut didn’t end well as Sassuolo was beaten 1-0 at Verona. Ballardini has one week to prepare for this game and it will be interesting if he can lift the mood and the spirit in Sassuolo’s camp in their fight against relegation. The opportunity is wide open for them as Frosinone has been very poor away from home. Only Almeria and Granada have collected fewer points (two) than Frosinone (three) in away matches across the top five European League. However, Sassuolo’s supporters would also hope that their home form will improve under Ballardini as they could only win three home games in the first 13 (D3 L7). They would also demand revenge in this match as Frosinone beat them 4-2 in the first meeting between the two sides earlier this season. Unfortunately, Ballardini will be without the influential forward Domenico Berardi in this game as he has already played his last match for Sassuolo in 2023-24 after suffering a serious knee injury last weekend. They would rely on Andrea Pinamonti who scored two goals in the first meeting between the two sides. As for Frosinone, Mateus Lusuardi, Anthony Oyono and Sergio Kalaj are doubtful, while Abdou Harroui, Kevin Bonifazi, and Riccardo Marchizza are expected to miss out. All eyes will be waiting to see Bellardini’s impact at Sassuolo and this game against a struggling Frosinone side will provide a good opportunity for him to get a first win with Sassuolo.
Prediction: 55 – 45
SUNDAY 10 MARCH 2024 (GMT +7)
Bologna vs Inter Milan
The high-flying Bologna’s side will be facing a big test from the current Serie A leader Inter Milan at Renato Dall'Ara this evening. Thiago Motta’s side has been in terrific form this season, picking up 51 points from 27 games. They currently sit 4th in the league and are in a good position to pursue their European dream. They managed to beat their European chasing rival Atalanta 2-1 at Gewiss Stadium thanks to two goals from Joshua Zirkzee and Lewis Ferguson. They have now won six games straight in Serie A and beating Inter Milan next would be high on their agenda. However, they know that it will be a tough game as Inter Milan is having a great campaign as well, leading 15 points at the top from Juventus in the 2nd position. They come into this game carrying a momentum of 12 straight victories across all competitions with their latest win coming against Genoa last weekend. Two goals from Kristjan Asllani and Alexis Sanchez secured their 23rd win of the campaign. Simone Inzaghi’s side will be aiming to get their 24th victory in this game but Bologna will be a difficult team to beat. It is worth noting that Inter has failed to beat Bologna in the last three meetings between the two teams in all competitions (D1 L2). Thiago Motta’s side managed to beat Inter Milan in the round of 16 in the Coppa Italia game last December so Simone Inzaghi should be prepared for revenge here. Inter Milan will travel to Bologna with near full strength with only Davide Frattesi and Hakan Calhanoglu will be out through injury. However, the same can also be said for Bologna as only Jesper Karlsson will be missing from their matchday squad here. It will be a very entertaining between two very good sides in a really solid form so I think the spoils will be shared here.
Prediction: 50 – 50
Genoa vs Monza
11th and 12th in the league, Genoa and Monza will go head-to-head at Luigi Ferraris tomorrow with both sides will be keen to bounce back after experiencing a defeat in their last game. Genoa was beaten 2-1 on their visit to Inter Milan while Monza suffered a 1-4 defeat at home when they entertained AS Roma last week. That loss against Inter was Genoa’s 10th defeat of the campaign and they would be aiming for a top-half finish this season. It’s been a solid campaign so far for Alberto Gilardino’s side as they had never obtained more than 30 points at this stage of the season in their previous seven campaigns in the top flight. The same can also be said for Monza as that defeat against AS Roma was their first defeat in their last five games in the league (W2 D2) and Raffaele Palladino’s side will be looking to improve from their 11th finish position last season. Monza won the first meeting between the two sides this season (1-0) but interestingly, Genoa is unbeaten in the last 26 home matches between them and Monza in Serie B and Coppa Italia matches. The home side will be without the service of Johan Vasquez who is out suspended while defensive duo Ridgeciano Haps and Alan Matturro are also unavailable due to injury. As for the visitors, they will welcome Armando Izzo back from a one-match ban but Gianluca Caprari and Samuele Vignato remain out injured. Another tight contest where I think a draw would be the likeliest outcome of this match.
Prediction: 50 – 50

2024.03.07 15:38 coopermaneagles [OC] Ranking the Best Players of the Klopp Era

Hello everyone. Early in the season I had wanted to do a little project where I looked at every player who's played for Liverpool under Klopp (minimum 10 games played) and do a ranking with some analysis/assessment. Mainly wanted to do so for fun, and when he announced he was leaving, I decided to start putting it together. Of course, given we are in the midst of a quadruple race, things are susceptible to change. But I finished the project earlier today and wanted to share. Again, it's a subjective ranking and mainly for fun, but I do love these hypothetical discussions. (All data from Transfermarkt from time under Klopp).
If you guys enjoy this, I have also thought about doing this for other moments, such as our best signings, biggest matches, best performances, etc. Without further ado, here we go
  1. Brad Smith - 10 appearances, 1 goal, 2 assists
Brad Smith, not to be confused with the illustrious Brad Jones (unless you're me at the start of this project), was a very quick Aussie left back. And that's about all I can remember of him, if I'm honest. He was sold shortly after Klopp arrived at the start of the 2016-2017 campaign to Bournemouth. He currently plies his trade in the MLS.
  1. Sheyi Ojo - 13 appearances, 1 goal, 4 assists
Am I remiss in thinking that Ojo got all of these assists in one game? Or something along those lines? Was an exciting youth player but never materialized. But I swear he had a game where he had multiple assists.
  1. Ben Woodburn - 11 appearances, 1 goal, 0 assists
Quick, who's our youngest ever goal scorer? Yes, it's still Ben Woodburn, who broke through as an extremely hyped youth in 2016. For those who don't remember, he scored for us just after his 17th birthday and then went on to score a banger for Wales not too long after. There was massive hype for Ben but unfortunately, like many others, it never really came to fruition as he could not handle the top division.
  1. Ben Doak - 10 appearances, 0 goals, 0 assists
Such a shame we lost a year of Doak's progress to that knee injury. Rapid. Absolutely rapid. He really looks a bright talent if he can continue to mature and work on his end product. But I am increasingly excited to see his return from injury and continued progress.
  1. Bobby Clark - 11 appearances, 0 goals, 1 assist
My first conundrum, after the Aussie Brad mix up. Bobby Clark has had a fine start to his career, playing a sizable part in the Carabao Cup win. But otherwise, I find it hard to justify him higher than here. I love his temperament and mentality. He looks like he has the mental to make it here, and will be interesting to see his game time going forward.
  1. Ozan Kabak - 13 appearances, 0 goals, 0 0 assists
I have a soft spot for the lad. Was he good? Not particularly. Was he bad? Meh. But he came in on loan into an absolute shit storm center back situation and worked hard. I was actually somewhat surprised when we did not exercise an option to buy considering he was young and highly touted a year or so before.
  1. Loris Karius - 49 appearances, 22 clean sheets
I may be harsher on Karius than some. While he had a decent 3-4 month stretch, I never really felt comfortable with him as the keeper. And then obviously, after that head injury, he became a calamity. Hard to erase that UCL performance out of my mind.
  1. Kevin Stewart - 20 appearances, 0 goals, 0 assists
I could not tell you for the life of me how Kevin Stewart played. What he was good at, bad at, etc. But he was part of the deal to bring in Robbo, and that alone nets him a couple spots.
  1. Jordan Ibe - 33 appearances, 4 goals, 4 assists
"Yah losing Sterling hurts, but I'll tell you, Ibe will be twice the player." This is a conversation I had at least three times. Shame about the struggles he's had with mental health. There was once a real bright player there.
  1. Marko Grujic - 16 appearances, 1 goal, 1 assist
From a physical standpoint, you had to marvel at Grujic. He was rangy, tall, great in the air (a certain pre-season header against Barcelona lives rent free in my mind). But he just never got the opportunity. He's had a decent career at Porto though.
  1. Adrian - 26 appearances, 7 clean sheets
Played a key part in the title season. Otherwise, a heart-attack inducing keeper, who's probably been too good to be a third choice, but not good enough to be a top level second choice. Seems like a great guy.
  1. Fabio Carvalho - 21 appearances, 3 goals, 0 assists
That goal against Newcastle was so awesome. Not sure how he's progressing at Hull, but he's absolutely a talent. Hope he has his head on right and recognizes the opportunity to come back and impress a new manager.
  1. Joe Allen - 33 appearances, 3 goals, 3 assists
The welsh Xavi, as we all remember. In a 4 yard radius, he was an excellent player. Unfortunately for him, the pitch is slightly bigger.
  1. Dominic Solanke - 27 appearances, 1 goal, 1 assist
How on Earth did Bournemouth pay 19m for him? (As well as 15 for Ibe?). Obviously he has worked out in the long run there. Edwards come back. But all in all, a good player who was still finding his feet when he played here. A little too early.
  1. Danny Ings - 17 appearances, 1 goal, 1 assist
Injuries just absolutely ruined Danny. He was never going to be a world class player, but he was a pacy, good finisher who could have had a better career with some luck. And that's not to say he's had a bad career, having spent about a decade at the highest level.
  1. Neco Williams - 32 appearances, 0 goals, 5 assists
Was never going to get the opportunities here with Trent breaking out at the same time. I also never viewed him as a true right back... always felt like he could play anywhere on the right side. Still playing in the prem for Forest (for now)
  1. Conor Bradley - 19 appearances, 1 goal, 6 assists
What a burst onto the scene. That performance against Chelsea was out of this world. Will be interesting to see the decisions made with him and Trent. Personally, I feel more secure with Bradley defensively. Bur you can not keep a talent like Trent out of the team, especially when we often have 65%+ possession.
50 & 49. Rhys Williams/Nat Phillips - 19 appearances/29 appearances, 0 g/a/ 2g/a
I just want to hug these two. That picture of the two of them towards the end of the season with the look of exhaustion and hard work on their face. A vital part to play in the 2020-2021 season. Both, to me, are perfect examples of why Klopp is Klopp. To get results with sub-optimal pieces. Brilliant. Hope they have long careers
  1. Jarell Quansah - 21 appearances, 1 goal, 3 assists
You would not think he's 21. Looks like he's been playing at this level for 7 years. A perfect time to breakout with Matip most likely leaving at the end of the season. Someone who should be counted in the squad going forward when it comes time to the transfer window.
  1. Martin Skrtel - 18 appearances, 1 goal, 0 assists
I know it was pre Klopp, but that header against City still reverberates for me. Gets a bit of a bump because of work before Klopp. A no nonsense warrior who, frankly, was probably somewhat underrated.
  1. Kolo Toure - 24 appearances, 1 goal, 0 assists
An experience. An adulterous, hilarious experience. Again, it's pre Klopp, but do you all remember him missing the rebound off that Suarez shot against the post? It was an open net from about 6 yards.
  1. Ryan Gravenberch - 31 appearances, 3 goals, 2 assists
Horrible injury in that final. Glad to see it is not that serious. Has had an up and down first season but the talent is there. Needs to figure out how to bring it all together and become a complete player. Also, not to be too harsh, but he's a really terrible striker of the ball. Just something I've thought about watching him this year.
  1. Stefan Bajcetic - 21 appearances, 1 goal, 0 assists
Starboy. I hit my knees and pray I see him play some minutes this season. He was so insanely impressive last year when the rest of the midfield up and retired. Just want to see him regain that form.
  1. Christian Benteke - 36 appearances, 8 goals, 6 assists
Scored a couple clutch goals in his season under Klopp. Not to mention scored that absolute worldie against United. That alone makes him memorable. Was never the right profile though.
  1. Simon Mignolet - 100 appearances, 66 clean sheets
Similar to Karius. Never did I feel confident in Simon, unless it was a pen. The difference was most people agreed with me here, rather than fighting people on reddit in post match threads about Karius.
  1. Mamadou Sakho - 29 appearances, 2 goals, 0 assists
I will die on the hill that Sakho was a good player who could have become VERY good if not for his attitude and, seemingly, his PED issues. Was never going to fly under Klopp however. Such an awkward player, but again, a good one. Also scored against Dortmund in that thriller.
  1. Alberto Moreno - 90 appearances, 1 goal, 9 assists
On his day, he was a bombarding left back capable of producing fantastic modern full back play. Unfortunately his day was very few and far between. Another spaniard, like Adrian, who just seems like a great guy.
  1. Cody Gakpo - 61 appearances, 18 goals, 8 assists
Cody recently has taken alot of brunt and abuse (myself included at times). I am slightly nervous about his career post Klopp, as I do not know where he is best suited. If he's a left wing, it's hard to say he's better than Diaz. He's at best our third best option through the middle behind Darwin and Jota. He's a good player who can really finish, but he's at a mini crossroads in my opinion that's being overlooked due to our success.
  1. Wataru Endo - 29 appearances, 2 goals, 1 assist
Could be even higher ya know. Only reason he's this low is that he took a little bit to get going and then missed time through the Asian cup. But wow.... has he surpassed every expectation. Someone I expect to be here and playing at a top level for years to come, which is saying something since he came here at 30.
  1. Ragnar Klavan - 53 appearances, 2 goals, 0 assists
Lord Klavan. A short stay which earned him cult hero status. A low ceiling, high floor player who brought a veteran leadership and poise to our backline. Just a very solid player who contributed to some very good football.
  1. Lucas Leiva - 65 appearances, 1 goal, 4 assists
There was a time when people thought Lucas was not good enough to play for us. Played upwards of 300 times for us I believe. And while he played towards the end of his time here under Klopp, he was a bridge from the old Liverpool to the new. An underrated player for roughly a decade here.
  1. Caoimhin Kelleher - 37 appearances, 14 clean sheets
Is this too high for Kelleher? In big games he's truly been utterly brilliant. Or maybe Chelsea are just shit? We can go with both. If he wants a move this summer, he will get it. I absolutely believe he's good enough for consistent top flight football and has shown it anytime hes had a run in the side.
  1. Takumi Minamino - 55 appearances, 14 goals, 3 assists
Another cult hero. I may be on the harsher side with Minamino, as I never saw it with him. But he was great in the cup run and was a hard worker. He was awesome against us with Salzburg. Just a good squad player in a great period.
  1. Dominik Szoboszlai - 29 appearances, 5 goals, 4 assists
The 8 looks good on him doesn't it? I am in no way comparing him to Stevie, but it looks great on him. An all around action packed midfielder who will only get better. Has slowly tapered off form, partly due to high expectations, partly to injury. But there's no doubting it. He has world class potential.
  1. Konstantinos Tsimikas - 82 appearances, 0 goals, 16 assists
Wish he could get some sleep. A great squad player who works incredibly hard and can offer great play when called upon. Has a cup winning pen and a cup winning corner. Too good to be our second choice left back frankly.
  1. Thiago - 98 appearances, 3 goals, 6 assists
If this list solely looked at impact on the pitch when available, Thiago would surely be top 10. A pure sex footballer. Delicious. That goal against Porto had me on the phone with my urologist for an hour. A really sad end to his career here, and possibly in general. Just made of glass.
  1. Alexis MacAllister - 31 appearances, 2 goals, 5 assists
In the last month, I think its fair to say he's been our best player, alongside Virgil. He's.... awesome. No other way to describe it. Can play every position in the center of the park, all with aplomb and composure. 35m is an utter steal. A stalwart here for years to come.
  1. Naby Keita - 129 appearances, 11 goals, 7 asissts
Take the Thiago passage, cut it down by about 30%, replace Porto with Crystal Palace, and you have Naby. While you could argue he was inconsistent, capable of many things but left you wanting, I would counter and say he just never got a chance to have a consistent run due to injuries. If he could have just had a full season or two to really cement himself, I think he could have been a fantastic player. Shame that he's made of paper clips.
  1. Darwin Nunez - 80 appearances, 29 goals, 15 assists
Never in my life have I rooted for a player more. Never. Never ever. The shit he endured from all fanbases, at times our own, was incredibly naive. He's such a good player, who's improved about tenfold in 12 months. He came here with just pure athleticism and desire. His touch was shit, he could not finish, and he was offsides more often than not. And this season, and specifically the last couple months, he's just improved massively. We are such a different outfit with him available and playing. You could argue he's our most important player outside Virgil (and Ali, although Kelleher has been mint).I just love this man. I could write 1000 more words on why I want him to succeed and continue to bag goals and assists. My favorite player in the world.
  1. Xherdan Shaqiri - 63 appearances, 8 goals, 9 assists
Just a dynamo. He packed speed, power, tekkers and unadulterated talent in a cubic body. I once was ridiculed for suggesting we sign Shaqiri. https://www.reddit.com/LiverpoolFC/s/Rha6U4Xd6v I will never let this sub live it down. Such a talented player who gave great moments against United, Barcelona, and many more. Miss him.
  1. Harvey Elliot - 101 appearances, 8 goals, 8 assists
He's 20. 101 appearances at 20. Last year, similar to my sentiments on Gakpo, I was nervous that he did not fit the team. Too slow to be on the wing, too small/slow to be in midfield. What do I know. He's only getting better every match and has quietly become one of our more important players, always healthy and trusted to do a job.
  1. Curtis Jones - 124 appearances, 16 goals, 14 assists
I've always loved the player. I loved his arrogance on the ball when he broke through. I loved that postage stamp goal against Everton. I am so glad he really cemented his place. He needs to stay fit as his injury record, (while... odd and unfortunate) is worrying. But there's no doubt he's good enough and should be starting regularly as it's dealers choice between Endo/Jones/Macca/Szobo. Could and should be at the Euro's.
  1. Emre Can - 116 appearances, 13 goals, 11 assists
Another case of someone who had the potential to be better than he is. But he's had a great career and had many successful seasons here. When he was on song he was capable of literally doing everything on the pitch. Could score, assist, and then fill in at right back in the same vein of play. All while chalking up 14km run. Just never really hit the heights and consistency you expected. But a vital player in the early Klopp era.
  1. Luis Diaz - 83 appearances, 21 goals, 13 assists
I find it odd how much stick Diaz has gotten recently. His end product is not nearly as bad as people think. He's scored plenty and gotten plenty of assists. However, if I do have a concern... he really seems unable to beat a man. But on the whole, he's been a very consistent attacker with some very high highs in recent years. A little older than you would suspect but someone who should have a few more years at the top level.
  1. Alex Oxlade Chamberlain - 146 appearances, 18 goals, 15 assists
For a player who only scored bangers, he unfortunately went out with a whimper. At his best, he had such drive from midfield. Something that we really have not had tons of under Klopp. But he could always provide that spark. Everyone will point to the city goal as their favorite Ox moment. But I offer an underrated banger to just showcase his natural talent. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=csAi55HtU8I Start at 3:17.
  1. Ibrahima Konate - 84 appearances, 3 goals, 2 assists
He's a colossus. So physically imposing. An underrated ball player too. Sometimes I wish he would go on more Matip-esque runs. If he stays healthy, he could be a true legend here.
  1. Dejan Lovren - 141 appearances, 7 goals, 5 assists
That header. Chills. Much maligned and polarizing was Dejan. At times he really was a calamity in the making, ergo the first half sub against Tottenham. But he bled for the shirt and had some great moments. Also seemed like a great personality, bad political/anti-vax beliefs aside.
  1. Daniel Sturridge - 90 appearances, 25 goals, 10 assists
Another player who was absolutely shattered by a hamstring made of wet paper. Still capable of the extraordinary, like the goal against Chelsea to win us a point. While his time under Klopp was up and down, he really was a fantastic player for the club over the long haul. Still had plenty of big moments that earn him this ranking.
  1. Diogo Jota - 141 appearances, 55 goals, 21 assists
Why can't he stay healthy? At times and in spurts, its fair to say he's been our best attacker. The run he was on before this latest injury, he was unplayable. So unassuming, but so so good in the air. Can score with both feet equally. And at his best can glide past anyone. Hope he recovers well and maybe sneakily comes back before the season's out, although I am not holding my breath.
  1. Nathaniel Clyne - 93 appearances, 2 goals, 5 assists
Just so dependable. There was a time where we all found it hard to justify giving Trent the role in the team over Clyne. While he was not at his bets going forward, he offered an athletic defensive presence that gave us many good years. Wonder if those balloon rumors were true.
  1. Adam Lallana - 130 appearances, 14 goals, 17 assists
Klopp's first "every" man, as I call it. Whatever job was needed, he stuck Lallana on it. Naturally so talented, and so smart as well. Pipped in with some big goals as well from time to time. Someone I fear will slowly be forgotten but one of the better players in the early Klopp days.
  1. Joe Gomez - 203 appearances, 0 goals, 8 assists
Klopp's latest "every'' man. I will be the first to admit. I have been very critical of Gomez in his time here. He's had such a turbulent run with major injuries, spells of brilliance, and times of consistent mistakes. But what a way to change a narrative. He has been imperious this season. Right back, center back, left back, CDM.... only thing missing is that damn goal. You also forget, he's 26. You could make a case he's not in his prime yet. Will be so interesting to see how he's viewed post Klopp. But make no mistake, he's won the fanbase over in emphatic fashion.
  1. Philippe Coutinho - 89 appearances, 37 goals, 22 assists
A tough one to rank. But it cannot be denied, Phil was legitimately world class in that final season. An argument for best player in the league. He was so quick, so incisive, and was a threat from anywhere within 35 yards of goal. Just a shame how it ended. And while it funded our new beginning, I just can't help but wonder how good he could have been if he stayed. As Klopp said, they would have built statues of him. I harbor much less anger now considering our success.
  1. Divock Origi - 171 appearances, 41 goals, 17 assists
There is no football without Origi. An unquantifiable aura. Clutchness personified. Divock could spit on me and call me a fatty and I would still thank him for Barcelona. But of course he wouldn't do that because he's fucking awesome.
  1. Georginio Wijnaldum - 237 appearances, 22 goals, 16 assists
My pick for most underrated player in the Klopp era. While Divock gets the plaudits for Barcelona, rightly, Gini gave us life in that game. Up until this year, we have been crying out for a dependable midfielder who was press resistant and always fit. And yes, he could be frustrating. He would slow attacks. He wasn't always an end product threat. But an absolute staple nonetheless, and someone who made us better when on the pitch.
  1. Joel Matip - 201 appearances, 11 goals, 6 assists
Will never truly get the respect he deserves nationally having played next to Virgil. But at times, they were 1a and 1b. A galloping and intelligent player who has such a great reading of the game. Hardly an immobile center back either. Had enough pace and range to snuff out anything. Another one who lost so much to injuries.
  1. Fabinho - 219 appearances, 11 goals, 10 assists
How did it go so quickly? From possibly the best CDM in the world to a geriatric all by the age of 29. But even though it was relatively short, he had a tremendous peak. A tackling savant, with a fantastic passing range. Versatile. Was an automatic first XI player for years. His decline last year literally changed the entire landscape of our season.
  1. James Milner - 323 appearances, 25 goals, 44 assists
The consummate "every" man. I'm sure you could stick him in goal and keep a clean sheet. Play him up top and grab a brace. A literal swiss army knife capable of playing 10 positions on the pitch. All at a high level. Every team in the world could use a James Milner. Literally. There is not a team in history in which Milner would not improve, be it in the starting XI or off the bench.
  1. Jordan Henderson - 304 appearances, 13 goals, 29 assists
Skipper. Deserved stick for how it ended. But our captain in our best period in 30 years. And when the dust settles, its inarguable his impact over the years. Was a fantastic leader on the pitch. 492 appearances, 304 under Klopp. Not bad for a 20m flop who only passes sideways.
  1. Andy Robertson - 283 appearances, 9 goals, 64 assists
The bargain signing of the century. How on Earth did we sign Robbo for about 2.5m and Kevin Stewart? At times was the best left back on the planet. An all time great for us. As consistent as they come. I would love to see him get back to his best in the coming months. Also an absolutely stellar person.
  1. Sadio Mane - 269 appearances, 120 goals, 48 assists
At a point, the scariest sight in the league was seeing Mane pick the ball up with space and an isolated defender. Was capable of literally everything. From the completely outrageous (see: backheel against Watford) to the... completely outrageous (see: that game two years ago where he literally could have scored 7 goals). Darwin has taken that mantle now, but Mane was an electrifying player. Most players of his ilk don't have the end product. He had it in spades. One of the best African players ever. One of the best wingers of the last decade (in arguably the most crowded field). Damn near won a Ballon D'or. Just an outrageously good player and one third of a legendary attacking triumvirate.
  1. Trent Alexander Arnold - 302 appearances, 18 goals, 82 assists
I don't care what position it is. Get him on the pitch. The best crosser in world football. One of the best free kick takers in world football. He's won everything at 25. He's already a club legend. He has the most assists ever by a defender in the prem. At 25. He oozes class. Incomprehensible to think he's not always rated. He's the best right back in the country, possibly the world. A unique individual.
  1. Roberto Firmino - 355 appearances, 111 goals, 79 assists
The core to the Iron Man suit. The bridge between midfield and attack. Go watch a Firmino highlight reel and you think he's the greatest player to have ever lived. He might be. Probably not. But he might. At the end of his time, the end product was not always there. But lest it be forgotten... Bobby Dazzler was the engine.
  1. Alisson Becker - 255 appearances, 112 clean sheets, 1 goal, 3 assists
He makes one on one saves look routine. Never seen that before. He scored a fucking goal to get us to the champions league. He assisted Salah against City. Against United. Not to mention his general shot stopping skills are out of the world. The best in the world. And that's with him guaranteeing you a stinker per season.
  1. Virgil Van Dijk - 254 appearances, 23 goals, 14 assists
I've watched this sport for about 17 years religiously. I have never seen someone play the position better than Virgil. And boy he's back to his best this season. My pick for POTS. You can't list the superlatives that have not been said already. When it is all said and done, he will not only go down as a Liverpool legend, but as one of the best players of his generation.
  1. Mohamed Salah - 333 appearances, 205 goals, 94 assists
The best winger in prem history. The most consistently dominant player in the league over 6 years. There were times where he was called selfish. Now he's our best creator. He is guaranteed 20 goals and 10 assists a season. From the wing. That does not happen. It just does not. He's redefined expectations of the position, he's reinvented his style of play about 3-4 times and continually gotten BETTER. In 21-22, he was the best player in the world. Over Messi. Idc. What he was doing that season was obscene. The Egyptian King. Please sign an extension. Idc if Saudi Arabia comes to my house and personally offers me 150m for coordinating the move. Stay Mo. Break all the records. The best player in the Klopp era, and one of our single greatest players ever.
