Does anyone know what the corporate hold up at PepsiCo Bottling is about? I applied for Geo Driver back in March 12 and received my contingent offer March 22. Since then it feels like I’ve been placed on hold only to be told “we’ll let you know” and “it’s a corporate hold up” when I ask further questions about my hire-on process. I’ve completed the drug test, background check and clearinghouse consent form. The most noticeable instance of this slow process is when my background check was completed on April 17, I got an email/text about it, yet Pepsi still says they’re waiting to receive it from the third party doing the background check?! I’m eager to begin working and this isn’t a bash against the company, I just want to know what the hold up is.

Virtual Samurai - My LED Volume Action film test
I made a virtual production LED Volume Samurai like action scene test.
Although I already had experience as an Unreal Engine operator and Gaffer on Virtual Productions, it was a thrilling first for me as the DOP and Director. We meticulously planned each shot, even crafting a pre-vis video that set the stage for our LED volume shoot at WFF in Wrocław in Poland. Apparently smooth sailing on set during virtual production is not always the case, but thanks to our time spent in pre production and our supervisor Daniel’s knack for merging virtual and real worlds it was possible. I really like what he did with the floor as it merged pretty well.
Optimizing the Unreal Engine Level was crucial for the dynamic shots we envisioned. We had to bring the quality of the level quite a bit because we were working on a single machine with two A5000 cards. However we were able to go way over 25 fps.
The tracking was done with Vive Mars system. It allowed me to create dynamic gimbal shots, even allowing for hassle-free Z-axis rotation tracking that gave us some extra flexibility.
The LED Wall we were working on has a deep “U” shape that let us pull off a 180-degree shot I was really looking forward to. Most of the LED wall setups I've seen look more like an open ")" but this wall is a lot deeper and looks like a "U". This shape has its advantages and some disadvantages. A nice advantage is the ability to shoot two people standing in front of each other without rotating the nDsiplay all the time.

Hi Everyone! I’ve always loved good smelling stuff and for the last 15 years I’ve usually had one bottle of cologne, and would replace once it’s out. Only in the last few months have I really delved into this world and began filling out a modest collection. I’m definitely not an expert (so take my reviews with a big grain of salt) but I love smelling and writing so here ya go. (Fucking wall of text incoming lmao, I didn’t realize how lengthy this got)
I just got back from a three-hour mall trip to try and get my nose on as many niche fragrances as my senses would tolerate. I had already done a good bit of research so I had some picked out to try and others already crossed-off. Im a 30M for reference.
I also had the goal in mind to find a contender for a fall/winter scent that exudes class, sophistication and decadence. For that, I’ve already tried a few that I really enjoy, and kind of used these as a springboard to continue exploring:
Xerjoff Alexandria II- This is what I envision royalty wearing. Lavender and rosewood mix soooo nice in the open, and dries into a lovey rose/vanilla/essence of oud. The oud is really toned down here for those that dislike it. It’s kind of hard to pick out. Nuclear performance.
Initio Oud for Greatness- Another good starter oud, you could say (this was my introduction to oud). It lasts forever and the dry down is seriously heavenly. The wet, soily oud is at the forefront for 2-4 hours, but I’m absolutely in love with what’s left when it disappears. Lavender, saffron, nutmeg and musk mixes into the best dryer-sheet-like scent I’ve come across (what it reminds ME of at least).
Perfums de Marly Haltane- Quite similar in the opening to Oud for Greatness. Haltane is darker, though, where I get more leathesmoke. I think the oud in this is more subdued, or at least less moist smelling. It blends well and lasts a good while.
Initio Atomic Rose- Holy shit. Apparently rose gets my motor GOING. I tried a lot of rose-centric fragrances today, but this probably still takes the cake for its balance and strength, in addition to the scent itself being just gorgeous.
So with those in mind I was off to Neiman Marcus. I sampled a large amount more than what I’ve written, but stuck to the ones that were memorable; good or bad.
Frederic Malle - Portrait of a Lady- My favorite of the Frederic Malle. Sensual rose/clove/currant at the front, but it is kind of hard to pick out specific notes on this one. After looking, I can get the cinnamon in the background of the dry down, it blends perfectly with the sandalwood, rose and benzoin after drying down. - Carnal Flower- Some similarity to POAL, lots of tuberose and jasmine, which I personally like. A bright yet sensual floral, and you get some coconut and melon there, too. I typically dislike coconut but this is blended masterfully. - Lipstick Rose- Yeah, that’s what it smells like. Try this if you’ve seen people describe scents as lipstick-y or violet taking on that accord. Not my cup of tea, also leans more feminine to my nose than the other two. - Musc Ravageur- I really wanted to like this one. And for a split second I did! A clove-y vanilla sasparilla is what I first got, and it unfortunately turned into barnyard urine. I immediately remembered seeing some reviews stating this, and I couldn’t get my nose to move past it. I can tell there’s good stuff there, but not for me.
Amouage - Reflection- The only one I’d tried before, and remains one of my favs. Rosemary and pink pepper greet you with a deep, fresh spice. The vetiver and patchouli sit nicely at the bottom, and the combination of white florals mixes wonderfully. Another scent I could imagine on royalty, and seems pretty versatile, too. You could wear this year-round without feeling out of place. Insane staying power. - Lyric- Probably my favorite, but I need to smell again on another day. Compared to the other Amouage, I had to continually stick my nose in the coffe beans to pick up the scent from the test strip. When I did get it, it was a lovely light, fresh scent. Quite a departure from the other Amouage I’ve tried, but great. No surprise, the list of notes are some of my favorites: lime, bergamot, rose, orange blossom, saffron, nutmeg, musk, pine, vanilla, incense, sandalwood. Seriously, love each and all those individually and they come together beautifully. - Interlude- Another good one. Dark, mysterious. Definitely get the oregano/peppepatchouli/incense bomb off the top. Leather lurking behind. I typically don’t gravitate toward the leathery scents but this one’s good. - Enclave- This pretty much seals the deal for me that on me, mint just ain’t it. I liked Sedley at first, but the mint somehow gets too cloying to my nose after too long. I can tell I would get the same from the peppermint in the opening of Enclave. I almost liked this one, too. If you can even tolerate peppermint, you’ll enjoy this one.
Mind Games - Blockade- Wowww. First sniff love, here. Explosion of citrus, juicy fruit-y sex. I usually find myself staying away from citrus but this shit is next level. This will be a contender for my next upscale summer buy. - Double Attack- Another love at first sniff. It’s familiar, though. Chocolate/orange/cinnamon/vanilla. You’ll want to eat it right up. I already have this box checked in my collection, but may come back to it in the future. - Checkmate- Another lovely scent. Champagne, red currant, rose, magnolia, little patchouli. It all comes together really nicely, and it was difficult for me to pick out specific notes before looking. Not a love, but I was really impressed with the quality and scent profile of the Mind Games I tried.
Clive Christian - Town & Country- Wow. No seriously, like fucking wow. Smells like an Italian fruit cart strolling through an English manor’s sprawling garden road. I look at the notes and I don’t understand how you get this smell supposedly out of Clary Sage, Ambergris, and Sandalwood. Like, what? This is high quality shit. I get some pear or grapes there, too. Try this. - Crab Apple Blossom- Yum yum yum this is goooood. Smells like it sounds. Bergamot, apple blossom and rhubarb dance around playfully together. Can’t help but have a big stupid smile on your face when you smell this. The more it dried down, the more it might be my favorite over Town & Country. - Matsukita- Another great scent. In the same vein as the other two since they are part of the same “Crown Collection.” You get some smokiness, here. Bergamot with nutmeg and mate give depth and a little mystery. White florals, woody ambers and musk at the base. Just quality stuff here. All three of these in the Crown Collection were available in 10ml travel size gift pack for $300. Good idea to put on my wish list. That shit is kiiiinda expensive.
Xerjoff - Erba Pura- I did not expect to like this as much as I did! Favorite that I sampled. Perfect combination of citrus and fruitiness off the top, layered over a bed of sweet musk. Something here is very familiar to my nose but I couldn’t place it. This will be another top contender for a future upscale summer purchase. - Accento- Soothing scent. Fruity white floral (usually dumb reach for me), and the iris gives it some powder but not overpowering. Not as feminine-leaning as I would have expected. - Iommi- Delicious! Sweet smoky rum off the top, and it’s a little surprising how forward the patchouli and leather is in this. It’s bordering on being a little overpowering, but it tames a bit on the dry down. I’d need to see how this goes on my skin, for sure. - Torino 21- Another one that I liked way more than expected. I’m going back and seeing mint listed as a top note here…I didn’t get that! And thank God since mint usually is a non-starter. Kind of an aquatic green to my nose. Again, just a lovely scent. - Naxos- Yeah ok this is good shit. I was expecting a sweet bomb, but this is definitely more restrained than what a lot of reviewers will have you believe. I’m a sucker for lavender and bergamot. Throw in honey and jasmine atop a bed of tobacco, vanilla and tonka bean? Yes please. - Erba Gold- Pretty good. To my nose more feminine than Erba Pura, likely due to the extra fruits in the middle. That combination of citruses, pear and melon is reminiscent of particular ladies’ scents.
Louis Vuitton - L’Immensité- Ohhhh yeahh. Relaxation in a bottle. My favorite besides maybe Fleur du Desert. This, Imagination and Météore all kind of dance to the same song, so to speak. More than one of these would be redundant, in my opinion. The quality speaks through each of these fragrances, though- really nice stuff. - Imagination- The name fits, as a lot of the notes here are almost fleeting like a word on the tip of your tongue. It’s a great, calming scent but it didn’t blow me away. Like I said, L’Immensité was the best of these and I don’t see the need to diversify within this collection. - Météore- Compared to L’Immensité, there’s a little more sweetness here. This leans closer to a shower gel-like scent in my opinion. Still great. - Fleur du Désert- This one started out reallly good. Honey and cinnamon into rose and orange blossom is an intriguing, sensual combination. Unfortunately, smelling it on my arm after a couple hours, the jasmine and honey turn into something my mind recognizes as an old lady scent. The POAL on my hand, by comparison, keeps mixing with my skin in a great pheromonic way. - Ombre Nomad- Disappointed with this one. I’m realizing I don’t gravitate toward darker scents like heavy oud, leather, incense. I can tell it’s put together really well and uses quality materials, but this isn’t one that was made for me.
All in all, my main take-aways include: Xerjoff scents living up to the name. I was definitely impressed with their offerings, and would have expected it to lean closer to overrated. Same with Mind Games. Really enjoyed everything I sampled from them, even if it wasn’t my cup of tea, I was impressed with the quality. Also, I need to get back and sample the rest of the Clive Christian house. I was absolutely blown away with what I tried.
A little bonus: I tried TF Noir de Noir, Extreme Noir, and Cafe Rose. Extreme Noir is excellent. A regal mix of saffron, nutmeg and cardamom on top of rose and white florals. Ahhhh, again, similar to what I imagine a king or king to smell like.
Cafe Rose is probably the second best rose-centric scent to my nose besides Atomic Rose. I’ll need to put those side by side.

I (17f) live with my parents- mum and step dad. They’re disabled, however not extremely debilitating and still go out almost everyday for their own trips, they have no job and live solely off of benefits. But most importantly, they’re hoarders. Ever since I can remember I’ve lived in filth, I distinctly remember my childhood bedroom being filled to the ceiling with black trash bags and random crap that wasn’t mine or my sisters. It’s been hard to come to terms with, but I’ve realised that i haven’t had a normal childhood by any means, I feel angry at missed opportunities i could have had. I didn’t dare to invite anyone over when their houses were always spotless and mine was the complete opposite. To this day I only have one friend who even knows about the condition I live in because i find it extremely embarrassing.
You’d think that 2 grown adults, with no job would have all the time in the world to clean their house, right? Well I’ve lived here for most of my life and that has never been the case. Recently me and my mum cleared a bit in the living room, enough for a seating area to be free and not even a week later, it’s messy again. I hadn’t even had the opportunity to sit in there properly, but my step dad decided it was a great opportunity to buy random crap we didn’t need and dump them in the newly cleared area, which he didn’t even help to clean may I add. But my mum doesn’t care. She even wanted to keep a small piece of sheet metal because it was my step dads and she didn’t want to throw away anything belonging to him. She may not be the worst hoarder out there, but shes certainly an enabler who adds to the mess.
But all of this is beside my main issue I’m currently facing, it seems like we are having plumbing issues, water is leaking from sinks, there are new appearing water stains on our ceilings and not long ago water was DRIPPING from the ceiling- all of this is worrying stuff, but my parents act like it doesn’t matter. When it was first becoming an issue I expressed my concern and my mum responded with “What do you want me to do about it? I’m not a plumber.” Which is true, yes, but as my ADULT (52) mother, I wanted her to contact someone to fix it. Because that’s what adults do, they fix a problem with a phone call. It’s not even like we would have to pay for it, we rent. At this point I’m thinking of just doing it myself FOR their incompetent asses.
Ah- but that brings us to our overarching issue once again. We live in a hoard, they can’t simply call someone to get it fixed as that would mean they have to clean up their shit!!
I get empty promises that things will be solved soon but every day I’m waking up, entering the bathroom to a pool of water and having to clean it up myself. It’s getting really frustrating that they can’t pull themselves together to get something fixed that if it doesn’t, it’ll turn into a bigger mess they can no longer ignore. I have a feeling that this will not turn out smoothly in the end if they don’t fix it soon.
As a side note too, I’ve really been thinking about calling someone about this. I’d hate to ever tell CPS about my home situation, not because I love it here, but because there would literally be no where else to go. Me and my sister (16f) have never experienced a home without hoard. This plumbing problem is becoming a worse issue by the day and I don’t know how much longer I’ll be able to take living here, I’m almost 18 now but if I could help to take my sister out of a situation where my parents are so clearly incompetent to do anything about a huge problem, then I think it’s time to say something.
I just wish I didn’t feel such a huge pressure to do everything around here. I’ve always felt like I’ve had to control situations in the home because my parents have zero competence and don’t do ANYTHING.
TLDR- Parents are huge hoarders, we’re having plumbing problems and they wont do anything. It’s becoming a debilitating issue and I feel like the pressure is on me to do everything. Might call someone about the home situation, but I’m unsure.

2024.05.16 02:47 futrdoctr 212 NBME 10&12 -> 253 Step 2 in 6 weeks

It’s been a few months since my exam so I figured I’d write about my study habits (good and bad) so those of you prepping for Step 2 can learn from my experience.
NBME12 - 8 weeks out - 212 NBME10 - 6 weeks out - 212 - stats, endocrine/repro, and cardio kicked my ass on this test. I was freaking out since my score didn’t budge in 2 weeks of studying. I will say my study habits in the two weeks between NBME 10&12 weren’t great. I didn’t do much UWorld, I tried to do content review with OME and FirstAid - bad idea. I started hitting UWorld harder at this point, at least 80 a day.
UW1 - 4 weeks out - 228 This went in the right direction but still not where I wanted to be. My goal was 240.
I began listening to Divine Intervention a lot more, as well as MedBullets, and Dr. High Yield when I felt I couldn’t do anything else. Listening to these in the caat the gym/etc just kept anxiety levels down.
Something else I did was on days I didn’t do UWorld I made a document for each specialty. For Surgery for example, I referenced high yield topics documents, and wrote about each topic. I targeted the ones I continually missed questions on (GI was a weak point for me). I made mnemonics for things I kept missing, or reviewed old Sketchy/Pathoma concepts related to them.
I also made physical paper study sheets of concepts that had lots of moving pieces. The biggest ones being shock, murmurs, and the leukemias. I was missing so many questions on these, so I finally wrote them all out and reviewed them every day. On test day these were some of my easiest questions.
UW2 - 2 weeks out - 248 I was SO happy. I felt much calmer during this test and it felt much easier.
I continued doing UWorld. I also started some ethics review.
Free 120 - 5 days out - 74%
I did some more Uworld, did some content review on things I knew I’d be tested on.
The day before the test I used StepPrep YouTube video and did stats review for ~5 hours. This was AMAZING. I had questions almost identical to ones he went through. The videos are short and easy to understand. Would 100% recommend doing this if you’re like me and prefer to brain dump Biostats.
Test day I felt confident for 5/9 blocks, felt like crap the other 4. Lots of weird questions (that I now assume were throwaways), but the ones that I knew, I knew for sure. It’s a doable test! I’m happy to answer any questions. Good luck everyone!

I am so excited to make this post. Part of me was always looking forward to this moment where i could finally write a PASSED: Write Up. For background, I am a rising M3 at an MD school and this was my first attempt. My school’s dedicated period was 5-6 weeks, but I delayed my first clerkship so I can get extra weeks of studying. Thus in total, I had 10 weeks of dedicated, with 2 of those weeks not counting because I had class all day. Our school offered 3 CBSE exams (these are different from the NBMEs online since only the medical school have access to CBSEs). I guess you could say I passed with low scores because my school wanted a 65 but at a certain point I felt like having a 92% chance of passing would still get me to wear I needed to be.
Scores: Baseline CBSE #1: 51 (45% chance passing) (4 mo out) CBSE #2 - 58 (81%) (2 mo out) NBME 29 - 61 (56 days out NBME 25 - 62 (92%) (54 days) New Free 120 - 64% (51 days) UWSA 2 - 65% correct (50 days) NBME 31 - 59 (84%) (46 days) CBSE #3 - 55 (68%) (45 days) Exam Date Change, realized I was taking exams way too back to back and instead I just focused on Uworld for 3 weeks and my weaknesses NBME 27 - 62 (92%) (22 days out) NBME 30 - 59 (84%) (15 days out)
Strategies: 1. I decided not to take any more new practice exams the week of my exam because I noticed a drop in my score on NBME 31 to the school CBSE when i took exams close to each other so I figured I was siking myself out. 2. I know the Free 120 is suppose to be done the week of your exam, but since I change my exam date, I had to redo the new Free 120. I approached the first block normally and got 3% lower than my first attempt. Then I went to the second block with the approach of only reading the bare minimum details (first sentence and last 2 sentences). & I realized that if I went for the most common answer (thinking more like horses rather than zebras) that I would get most answers right with less effort and have extra time. This helped me on the real exam. 3. Doing 3- 4 blocks of UWorld a day. When I was 2 months out I only had about 40% OF UWORLD done. After changing my exam date, I ramped it up to 120 UWorld Qs a day. I got to about 77% completion of Uworld. 4. Pushing through blocks without knowing what your previous performance was: There was one day in the week of my study where I did 4 blocks of UWorld back to back without looking at my score. So I would suspend my score and go to next block. This mentally helped me because I could feel terrible about a block but I had to keep going. This made me strong for test day. 5. Actual test day: I marked less questions so that I wouldnt get anxious about seeing 30+ red flags. I utilized my break time for every block and had no organized order of time I spent on my breaks 6. The day right before the exam I pulled up the Amboss 200 qs and I just had it reveal the answer to me and I just sped through my weakness topics before 5pm 7. Went to sleep around 8. tested at 7am, an hour before my scheduled time. I was not tired nor fatigued throughout the exam.
As many have mentioned, prayer to God was very helpful. Knowing that the form I would get on test day would be meant for me. I also had a vision board with a manifested print out of me receiving a passing score.
It’s still feels unreal, it felt like an eternity studying for this exam, especially when seeing other ppl continue on with their clerkships. I also went through a very difficult family emergency where my father was in the ICU during my dedicated. But somehow i made it through all of this. I am very relieved and proud of myself. But still kinda shocked

i’m a senior in college, (20F), and my parents are very strict. i can’t spend time with my bf or friends more than twice a week, and they need to know who, when, for how long, etc. no sleepovers allowed. they won’t let me live on campus anymore because i smoked weed one time last semester and ended up with a positive THC drug test (they test me regularly). i can’t drive because they think i’ll be under the influence. they caught me drinking one time and put me in AA meetings for 6 months at 7am (now 11 months alc free). i have to commute to school over an hour away, and they have to take me back and forth. i told my mom i feel stuck in the house and she yelled at me telling me to move out if she doesn’t like their rules.
i have barley any money saved from my job, and i want to get my degree but i feel suffocated living here. i want to find myself, but they still treat me like a child. when i ask for any sort of freedom they tell me to leave. they still take my phone away. i care about my family but it’s heavily affecting my mental health. they didn’t set me up for success, i feel like i wouldn’t know the first thing about moving away. i’m the oldest of 3 kids and i feel stuck.
i want to at least try and stay until i graduate next year, save my money and prepare, but it would be to the detriment of my self esteem, depression, and anxiety. moving out is not encouraged, and they would cut me off completely if i did.
my parents did not set me up for success and i rely on them for almost everything. i feel like i can’t be myself at home.
should i wait and obey for the small chance i can drive again or earn their approval? or leave the house and pursue a free life?

Now, for my thoughts:
As an employee, I've had the opportunity to use the Helio Ring for several weeks now as part of our internal testing process. It has really helped me find more value in sleep tracking within my own routine, as I was very reluctant to wear a watch to bed in the past due to the size. I found myself waking up and checking my sleep metrics far more readily than when I attempted to regularly track my sleep a few months ago with my Cheetah Pro. I was actually quite curious about my Readiness score every morning, too.
The Helio Ring is also a convenient complement to my Cheetah Pro as an "always on" monitoring device for my heart rate, steps, stress, and more. I found that I preferred wearing the ring as I go about my day doing normal errands, then putting on a watch for more precise working tracking.
While certainly not for everybody, I think some users will really appreciate the discreet form factor of a ring for everyday activity tracking, and still others will enjoy the more complete picture of their health data without the need to wear a watch around the clock.

Would there be several new knifemakers interested in free blanks? Whoever wants them would pay their own shipping. I'm thinking priority mail (in a box) would be a preferred method to ship out the blades. I would prefer for the blanks to go to newbies with limited tools. Most are finished but one or 2 have no bevels. There's no way you will finish these blanks with files as they're already hardened. You would need some type of belt grinder to grind the ones that don't have bevels. I have 3 52100 and 2 W2 blanks that I have no use for. I want to say they're around 63-64 hrc. I think I have a cpm 20cv (60 hrc) that I was going to make into a paring knife but I wasn't happy with the hardness. It was when I first got my kiln and I was experimenting. Some have the matched bevels perfectly ground already. I might have others but I need to look first. You would need to hand sand or grind the dykem and possibly small scratches along ricasso and the flats that I made to grind my bevels too. I will only ship one blank per person that way several people can have a chance to finish a blank. First come first serve as long as you pay the shipping. The last time I shipped a finished chef knife it was 9-10 bucks for priority mail. The reason I don't want them is because I don't like simple carbon steel. I tried to get into it and I don't care to do the extra work to care for a simple carbon steel knife. I mainly work with stainless steels now. All these blanks were HT'd in a kiln and quenched in the proper quenching oil. I have parks 50 and AAA, and use aluminum plates, Liquid Nitrogen to HT stainless steels. All blanks have been HRC tested by me with hrc tester. The W2 blanks were quenched in water. They wouldn't harden with parks 50. Hopefully, I can pass these to people who really are interested in the hobby. I would make a later post with the blanks numbered if there's enough interest and they would be given out in the order people respond. I dont think we can discuss money on the forum so I would ask you to message me for the shipping amount I spent. I would provide you with pics of receipt and tracking number if you desire.

DISCLAIMER: I have not been served with a lawsuit, and I do not intend to fraudulently transfer assets.
Starting to look into asset protection, what with the litigious society we live in. Starting at Level 1 - I don't think I need entities yet, but biggest risk for me currently is somebody suing me in a car accident. I definitely want to make sure I have enough car insurance liability for my assets (I'm driving 100 miles round trip every day).
Currently living in MA, looking to move to NH when the housing market allows (Have no fear, I'm coming for the Live Free or Die).
Asset Breakdown:

Roth IRA: $58k (Covered under State Law for the most part, in MA and NH)
401(k): $37k (Covered under ERISA)
Brokerage Accounts: $10k
HYSA: $93k (Most worried about this one bc it's slated for a house down-payment)

Total Assets: $200k
Total Covered Assets: $95k
Total Exposed Assets: $105k
Car Insurance Liability breakdown:
$500k per person/$1M per accident, $100k property damage (500/1M/100)
I don't own a home or rental properties yet, and I don't own a business, so I see my biggest risk as getting into a car accident and having somebody sue me (not that I'm an unsafe driver, but shit happens, especially at 100 miles a day).
So if you've made it this far, thanks, and now for my questions:

Given the risks, what assets are covered, and what aren't covered, is the amount of liability insurance too much for me at this point given my assets that could theoretically be seized? What might be a more appropriate amount of coverage?
Even though the HYSA and brokerage accounts should in theory be covered by the liability in case somebody sues me in a car accident, would it still be a good idea to set up an entity? Or would they be sufficiently protected by the liability insurance?
Would it be a good idea to talk to a lawyer to discuss options? (Probably yes)
