Iphone 15 Pro Screen time=daily battey usage?
Is it normal to lose 3% of battery while scrolling facebook, mostly watching videos for 10 mins in my iphone 15 Pro? I checked my screen time and it’s only around 4-5 hours. I have only had this for 2 weeks and this is what I’m experiencing. I also leave my facebook, messenger, and instagram in the background running (not closing them completely by swiping) because I always go back using them and mostly watching videos all day when I’m having my rest days from work and I’m only on wifi all the time. I only charge my phone once a day when I’m at work and twice while on rest days. I also charge my phone from 30% to only about 90%. Is screen time = daily battery usage?
Reduce white point is 40% Background refresh is off for both wifi and mobile data. Turned off notifications from apps I rarely use Brightness is always low and set to automatic adjustment Turned off automatic app updates

2024.05.16 05:27 EasyTherePartner Can NOT keep my blood sugar up - help!

40F Starting Weight in April: 265 Current Weight: 245
Fasting C Peptide Serum: 5.7 (1.1-4.4ngmL) Fasting Insulin: 55.3 (2.6-24.9 uIU/mL) Fasting Hemoglobin A1c: 4.9 (4.8-5.6)
Started taking Semaglutide to help drop some weight and slow my digestion due to absorption issues - I do not have a gallbladder- for my low iron, B12, folate, and vitamin D. Did standard .25 for 4 weeks and then bumped to .50, spent the next 36 hours vomitting and diarrhea. It was so violent and traumatic, it gave me anxiety just thinking about eating. Stomach took at least 1.5 weeks to start to feel better to even want to eat. Still, almost 3 weeks later after stopping Sema cold turkey I still have zero desire to eat and only recently stopped gagging every time I did. Since my .50 bump and GI issues, I can not for the life of me keep my blood sugar up to a safe range for more than 1-2 hours, eating or not. I am popping glucose tabs several times a day to keep me up despite eating protein and complex carbs etc.
Can someone please tell me what the hell Semaglutide did to my body?? I’ve never had these issues before, I can not function for fear of fainting out of nowhere because of dips in blood sugar. It will drop several points in just a few minutes at times.
Please, someone help me figure this out.

2024.05.16 05:26 Silver-Thorns Rhaenys I - Conquest with Goblet and Skirt

Aenar, Astaraxes, and Naerys had departed on Valyria’s Pride three days past, their retinue of guards and servants alongside them. Leaving Summerhall near empty with only Laena, the man, and Rhaenys herself remaining, their evenings were hardly boring, however quiet the palace was.
As Rhaenys dressed herself for flight, putting on her gloves, she called out into the open sky,

“Meraxes, māzigon naejot issa!”

She could only hope the she-dragon heard the call, or more accurately felt the call. She did not need to speak with her always, some of the magic the ancient Valyrians had employed still flourished, the link between a rider and her dragon something that did not require a physical component.
As Rhaenys turned around to embrace the man, before placing a kiss on his lips, holding it until she was interrupted by the sound of leather in the sky. My sister.
Her head spun from the man’s lips and onto the silver in the skies before she touched down. The thud and subsequent dust sent into the air, surrounding the three in the courtyard. Rhaenys began to walk towards Meraxes before saying, “Ao sagon jurnegēre gevie tubī!” She placed her hand on Meraxes lowered snout before petting it, “It's going to be a long flight, but we're going to be nearer Balerion then. We have that to look forward to.”
Meraxes’ head perked up, before she laid down, ready for Rhaenys and Laena to mount her. “There’s just something else I must do and then we can leave,” Rhaenys said before turning back to the man.
“You are to keep this palace in good order, and I know you will, but I figured I should mention it. Can’t hurt can it?” she said with a smile.
“Of course I will, I’ll be going over the tables for a majority of the time, send a raven if it goes long, I will be rather lonely without both of my women here.”
Laena rolled her eyes at the statement, walking over to Meraxes and mounting her. Rhaenys’ smile intensified, “we’re a bit old for these jokes no? Not like I’d stop you from making them, but we are a bit old are we not?” As she spoke, Rhaenys pulled a vial from her belt and removed the stopper, before pouring the contents into the cup the man held.
Inside it was dreamwine, and the vial had contained poppy that had now mixed in with the dreamwine. “Any for you Laena?” Rhaenys asked, taking the cup in her own hand. Upon seeing the shaking head Rhaenys drank, and deep, before placing the cup back in the man’s hand. She leaned over and stood on her toes, planting a kiss on his lips, leaving him with a few last words, “take care of yourself. And no matter what, if I am dead you serve Aenar. He will need you.”
As the man nodded, Rhaenys walked to Meraxes and mounted her, sitting behind Laena. “A long day of travel and then we will be there. Aenar’s throne is within our grasp.”
“Sōvegon," she whispered as Meraxes stood, the power in her steps nearly shaking the ground below her, gaining speed before her wings struck the air. Once, twice, and they were airborne. The lurch as Meraxes found her stream of air pulled Rhaenys back, as Laena’s back touched her own chest. “Careful now, I’m the one that’s dreamdrunk, not you.”
Rhaenys pulled Laena’s hood to the side as the woman looked behind, Rhaenys pulling down the mask of her hood before planting her lips on Laena’s, her hands which held onto the reins of Meraxes wrapped themselves around the reins, before landing on Laena’s waist, pulling her in closer, and closer still as their lips locked. Their hoods were less secure but with little wind, but that did not much matter to the Queen, her mind slowly succumbing to the dreamwine and poppy mixture.
Her head swam more and more with each moment, before she let her lips separate from Laena’s, barely able to hold onto the reins she shoved them into her belt before managing, “Dārys tegorīr, Merakses,” as she drifted off to a gentle sleep.
As she came to, she could smell the difference in the air. The sun was no longer rising but almost gone, hidden by the horizon until it rose again the following day. Below she could see in the distance the candlelight of King's Landing, thousands of them lighting up the small spot on Blackwater Bay.
Here was where she, Aegon, and Visenya had first touched Westerosi soil to begin their conquest, leaving thousands dead and thousands of years of tradition dead in their wake. They had done what none had for hundreds of years, bend an entire people to their will purely by dragonfire. It was once again the Andals who faced the wrath of the Valyrians, bent to their servitude, though this time it was not slavery, that was a sentiment of a different world, they were quasi-equals now.
As Meraxes flew above the Red Keep, high in the air above the capital, Rhaenys leaned down closer to the head of her sister in arms.

“Ivestragī zirȳ gīmigon iksi kesīr!”

Searing white light along with a roar that woke any unlucky enough to have gone to bed early began above the city, Rhaenys making her presence known.
“That's sure to make you unpopular today,” Laena said as she watched the flame, her eyes closed due to the light.
Rhaenys’ own face was much different, a child-like smile shining from ear to ear. The white hot flames were bright even on the sunniest of days, pure moonlight on the darkest of night. “I don’t care, I have a cause again, they shall remember the old me or die for it. I may no longer be young, but there were three conquerors, and only one of us never forgot what that meant.”
“Tegun, Merakses,” Rhaenys uttered, pointing Meraxes in the direction of the Red Keep, a freshly built new castle for the Targaryen power to impress those who looked up at it. Atop Aegon’s Hill, they built a keep for all to admire. Atop Rhaenys’ Hill, they built a pit for the dragon who had come to conquer Westeros. Atop Visenya’s Hill, they built… a monument to false gods.
Meraxes’ claws gripped the red bricks of the Red Keep as she landed, a few falling down the hill. Rhaenys slid down her wings and waited for Laena to do the same, where Rhaenys waited holding her hand out so that she might grab it, the same as a knight might do with a lady. Beneath the mask of her hood, she smiled before looking at one of the guards, taking the mask and hood off, and letting Laena pull her hair out from the hood.
Rhaenys brushed past the guard as Meraxes leered at the man, she preferred lamb but crownlander would do just fine. As Rhaenys walked down the stairs descending from the walls, she looked to one of the captains, “it seems a few of the bricks off the wall came loose, you might want to look into that. We wouldn’t want the Red Keep to be vulnerable,” as a sinister smile appeared on her face.
“Laena, I’m a bit tired after all of that I believe, maybe I should find myself a seat,” she said, walking up to the throne room, the Iron Throne looming over them. She stood for a moment, looking at the metal monstrosity as images of the Field of Fire displayed themselves in her mind, a good day if still distasteful. The smell of burnt flesh was never quite as fun as seeing the swirling of flame on an open field, and yet one couldn’t have one without the other.
“Place a pillow on the throne, I’ve a sore arse after this travel, send a message that I will arrive at the hunt on the morrow,” Rhaenys let out to one of the servants in the throne room, desolate except for a few guards and servants.
As the man disappeared and reappeared, placing the pillow in its place, before bowing to Rhaenys, she shouted out, “LEAVE! All of you! I need a moment in the memory of my brother.”
As the sound of feet across the stone grew quieter Rhaenys approached the throne, Laena a few steps behind her, before looking up at the throne. She took each step carefully as she ascended, before taking her seat and looking out across the room.
“Come, join me, you’re tired as well after this entire day.”
Each sword was a man, and there were enough swords to make this monstrosity. What they had done would be remembered by the Westerosi for all time, regardless of the dynasty that sat at the top of them all. As Laena sat in her lap she cut her hand ever slightly, the blood disappearing into the creation, almost as if the throne had drunk it. Though she winced, Rhaenys did not notice, too lost in thought, her eyes fixated on a point and yet seeing nothing.
You gave me a son who would have been your heir, yet they took you from me. I may fill my bed with others and fill my belly with wine, but the only one who has ever filled my heart was you, she thought. A tear fell onto Laena’s dress as Rhaenys seemed to be in a world of her own.

2024.05.16 05:25 ResponsibilitySad331 A Victim of Online Fiction - Ch16: The call of the chicken

A Victim of Online Fiction The One Who Walks Alone
Reads last 24 hours 60,000 2100
Reads all time 1,500,000 156,000
A Victim of Online Fiction was starting to stack up reads, while The One Who Walks Alone had become a nice side-hustle. I decided that my next step would be to follow Alex’s advice for once and start banking chapters.
I cut back my schedule to three chapters a week for A Victim of Online Fiction and two a week for The One Who Walks Alone.
Each morning I poured myself a cup of tea, swallowed a pill and hacked out three chapters before lunch, had a call with Alex, went for a quick run and picked up food from a cafe, then it was back home for revisions and occasionally some plotting.
By 5pm I’d be pooped mentally, but physically bursting at the seams. I’d pop another pill or two then saunter off to whatever party was happening that night before waking up in someone’s shrubbery at sunrise.
For a while writing and enjoying myself were all I craved. I was shitting out chapters faster than I’d ever done before, and building a backlog had taken a lot of pressure off the day to day writing.
And then one morning I woke up in a springy little olive tree to the sound of my good friend Manuel yelling at me. Manuel was really excited about something. He kept saying over and over ‘You’re done Eli! You’re done, dude. You really messed up – big time.’
I rubbed my eyes and pulled a couple of leaves from my ear, ‘Huh?’
Manuel grabbed my arm and pulled me out of the tree. He had a tablet in one hand and was laughing. He pushed the tablet into my face, ‘It’s LazyCultivator... the best writer in the entire damn world. She’s calling you out man.’
I pushed a pill between my lips and swallowed, slowly my vision started to clear. Beneath the latest chapter of the chicken story was a massive rant about my books.
‘Woah.’
‘Woah alright,’ Manuel bounced around me, ‘All that stuff you said about the chicken, how you wanted to take her on, she’s just shutting you down. This is going to kill your readership man!’
I frowned, ‘And why are you so happy about this? I thought you were like, in my corner...’
Manuel slapped me on the back, ‘Course I am man, course I am... but this is LazyCultivator we’re talking about... she’s a genius... Shakespeare reborn... the Wuxia Tolkein... the Virginia Woolfe of transcending tropes.’
‘Alright... whatever.’ I straightened my neck, there was this awful kink in it, ‘So yeah, she’s denouncing my work as a piece of shit, but so what? There’s a lot of times I think it's a piece of shit too.’
‘Ah... but you haven’t been read by 100 million people, have you?’
‘Guess not...’
‘She’s never done this to anyone before. Dude. Your career is over. Back to the dungeons you go.’
My stomach was cramping and all of Manuel’s shouting was starting to give me a headache, ‘You’re kind of being an asshole.’
He shrugged, snatched his tablet back, ‘LazyCultivator... how the hell man...’
I turned away from him and started stumbling back to my place. I could feel the pill bubbling as it mixed with the leftover alcohol in my stomach. I paused to throw up, wiped the froth from my lip then continued home. My throat was as dry as the Sahara but I ignored the ice-cold water in my fridge and powered on my computer and sat there for two hours reading the comments beneath LazyCultivator's new chapter.

HamishNO
This guy’s going to the grave.
Sammywakles
Taking on the chicken? Foolish young master. This shall be the death of him.
NOTyet
Review bomb him. We’re gonna take this guy down.
The final comment had 20,000 likes and when I clicked on my story I saw my precious five-star rating had dropped to just above zero. My throat was inflamed, but still, I read. People were trashing my novels. Review bombing them off the featured lists I’d slowly been climbing my way up.
Alex called, I ignored him. He called again. I hung up. He called a third time and I answered. Alex was wearing a suit and a professional black tie.
‘Not a good time to call Alex.’
Alex shook his head, ‘No. It's not. The CEO wants to see you.’
‘What?’
‘Richard Balls, the man who founded this company, the guy who can have your stories deleted like this,’ he snapped his fingers, ‘The guy who can fire me like this,’ he snapped his fingers again. There were tears in his eyes. ‘He wants to see you in half an hour.’
I couldn’t speak. My throat was all dried up.
‘Alex... I...’
He gave this pitiful whine, ‘Put on your most professional-looking clothes. Get in the car when it comes. There’s nothing I can do for you.’
The call ended and the silence struck me like a jumbo jet squashing a slug on the runway.
A glass of water hurt to swallow. The only decent looking shirt I had rasped my skin and a pair of black shoes made my feet heat up. I pushed my pill bottle into the pocket of a pair of black jeans then sat outside. I fidgeted, grazing my knuckles against the concrete of the stairs. The pain tasted good. Like ice.
‘Astra,’ I whispered to myself, imagining her face, ‘Astra.’
I thought about all the weeks that had passed. How good the freedom had felt. How empty it felt now. I knew I needed a friend. I knew I had none. Not here anyway.
A neighbour walked past. His name was Min. He wrote sci-fi, I’d carried him up his steps the Thursday before, he wanted to get married to a girl that wrote horror.
‘Hey Min!’
Min turned to me but his feet didn’t stop. He took one look, his eyes glazed over and he walked on. It was a hot day. Maybe he was thirsty or something.
The limousine they sent for me was black, with a fin-like antenna on top and it cruised the streets like a shark looking for prey.
It came to a stop in front of my house. The back door swung open to reveal a pure black void. I wobbled to my feet then climbed in. I couldn’t see a thing outside as we swung around and around. The only things that differentiated it from my first cell were the plush leather seats. Even so, my breath was rushing in and out faster than I liked.
‘Astra.’ I said to myself, I wondered why I hadn’t bothered trying to contact her, I hadn’t even left a comment on her story. I’d seen hundreds of her comments on mine.
The limo jerked to a stop. The door flew open.
It was like I’d been transported to another planet. The quiet, quaint Village had been replaced by a steel and glass plated monstrosity. People in suits flowed in and out of the front door like blood through arteries – or maybe parasites through a host.
I edged myself out of the limo. The door slammed behind me, and the shark-vehicle sped off. Hands closed around both my arms.
‘Good to see you Mr Hill,’ A security guard on my right said.
‘Mr Balls is waiting for you,’ said the guard on my left. Their grip was casual but firm as we walked towards the doorway.
The elevator in that building was bigger than our entire four-dorm. The bathroom was ten times the size of my cottage, and there were slides, pool tables, domes to sleep in. I wasn’t sure whether the topia I’d wandered into was a utopia or a dystopia.
Finally, we reached Richard Balls office – technically it took up the entire top floor, but most of that was taken up by an indoor golf course, spa, and a floor of secretaries, lawyers and accountants.
The guards made me stand outside for ten minutes while they waited for a signal from Balls. When it finally came they pushed me towards the double doors.

I’m rocking a Storm Phase 2, a Motiv Blue Coral Venom, and a White dot. What should I get next? I’m around 15-16mph and 300rpm, I think, total guess on the rpm. I’m not too low but I certainly not on the high end.

2024.05.16 05:15 AllenXeno122 Her Little Light… story be me

“…. Hmm….” The thing ponders the sight before him. A world in flame, icons of chaos destroyed and their followers laying dead before them. The souls of the damned cling to the earth, their whispers hanging in the wind. He can hear them, all of them, and he listens to them all, taking in their hatred into his own being. He can feel his power grow ever so slightly with their hatred, and it serves to bolster his own, forging it into a weapon to use against Them.
“My Lord…” A voice sounds behind him, he turns to see a Astartes, his armor half black and half white, with horns adorning his armor. He wields a power axe in one hand and the other is encased within a power fist.
“…. Speak Asher.” The thing says, turning to look at the Astartes. The thing stands about ten feet tall, his body covered in what looks like fur, but upon a closer look appears to be a mass of countless individual tendrils. He has a massive tail with a gaping maw of teeth at the end, and his face was an elongated skull-like visage, with four hours adorning it.
“We have gathered up the individuals you requested, the sorcerer and his retinue.” Asher said, brushing some ash off his shoulder. “Zion was injured but other then that there were no casualties, they were already quite injured from our initial bombardment on this planet, our Librarians are keeping the sorcerer in check at the moment.”
The thing gave a nod to Asher, his face unemotive. They walked into the ruined Chaos fortress, the iconography of the ruinous powers lay defiled and defaced throughout the fortress, and symbols of a half black half white skull now stood in their place. When the thing and Asher made their way to the dungeons, the Chaos sorcerer was being held down by two librarians using psychic chains, his red armor and hooded helm shaking in pain. “You may stop. Leave us.” Without a word, the librarians dismiss their psychic chains and leave with Asher, leaving just the Sorcerer and the thing in the cold stone room. “…. So, how’ve you been?” The thing asked, just as a blast of warp fire was shot into his face by the sorcerer.
“You blasphemous fool! Who do you think you are?! Do you know who I am?!! I-“ the sorcerer is interrupted by the thing gripping the hand casting the warp fire, his mind barely having time to register the movement before the pain of his arm being torn from his body sears through his body. The sorcerer yells in agony, as the thing stands before him, the last of the warp fire wisping away from his unharmed head.
“I see you are still impulsive as always Serviel…” the sorcerer almost froze at the mention of his name, and in the voice of the thing before him he felt a twinge of familiarity. “It’s why you lost your arm that one time, you told me it was from a duel with an ork, but every knew you got hit by a rocket. Looks like you got that arm thing fixed though…” The thing dangles the arm he just tore off, tendrils sticking out from the stub and wiggling around, trying to find its host. He tosses the arm onto the ground and snaps his finger, igniting the arm in black flames, burning the thing into ash as it slowly dies. “… Now, I have a question for you Serviel…”
“Y-You… who are-“ the tail of the thing slams into Serviel, collapsing one of his three lungs and making him cough up blood.
“You’ll get your chance to speak, for now, shut up and answer me…” the Thing’s tail opens it’s maw and picks up Serviel, sitting him upright as the Thing gets up close to Serviel’s face, looking him in the eyes. “Where is Vashtorr heading?”
Serviel looked surprised, like he expected maybe something else to be asked, but he grit his teeth through the pain and answered, “Ghh! I… I don’t know… we were sent here to gather resources for the Wyrmwood… we… we weren’t told anything else….”
The Thing lets out a growl of frustration, another dead end. Either he isn’t acting on leads fast enough or Vashtorr is actively messing with him. As he thinks about his next steps, Serviel looks at him questioningly. The Thing notices and looks at him. “… Well? Out with it.”
“… So you’re alive…” Serviel says, and the Thing just shrugs.
“Sort of.” He says, putting a hand around the nape of Serviel’s neck. He has had this conversation many times, this is the part where they insult him and belittle him. He used to pull them apart slowly and painfully before but he just wanted to kill him quickly and be done with it.
“You… you know she’s still looking for you…” Those words make the Thing stop for a moment, his hands loosening slightly around Serviel’s neck. The memories of her are still bright in his mind, her voice was that of an angel’s, her beauty was nothing but serine, and her kindness knew no bounds…. That’s how it was long ago, the woman she was is now long gone….
“… Yea… I know she is…” the Thing breaks Serviel’s neck with a flick of his wrist, too fast for Serviel to have felt it. He drinks in his soul, absorbing it into his being, where the ruinous powers will have hold of him no more… The Thing leaves the dungeon and makes it to the command room of the fortress, where Asher and his second in command wait for him. “Asher. Argal.” The Thing says, addressing them both. “This planet is ours now, I can assume you’ve already pacified the local populace?”
Argal Tal steps up to the Thing, he is more mutated than most of his brothers but other than that he wears untainted armor custom made to fit his bulkier form, and he stands almost eight feet tall, with every bit of the nobility he had during the great crusade. “It is done my lord, we have successfully convinced them we are servants of the emperor, the indoctrination plans are already in place, we suspect within a few generations this planet will be devoted entirely to you.”
“On top of all that…” Asher says, “We have collected any and all equipment usable to us. Our ammo stockpiles are at maximum capacity, as are most of our other requirements.”
The Thing looks at Asher, nodding in approval. “Good. Even if we aren’t any closer to Vashtorr, we are at least better off now than before.”
“No luck with the sorcerer then, eh my lord?” Asher ask, his voice unsurprised.
“Nope.” The Thing says flatly, slightly annoyed by Asher’s tone but knows he’s just being the sarcastic individual that he is. “Now, leave me. Take care of what needs taking care of out there…” He orders as he steps out onto the balcony of the command room, the sound of ceremite armor clinking and then stomping off soon growing distant and leaving only silence. A few minutes of this pass by, the Thing thinking back too a time before all this madness. A time when humanity was on the upswing, when things like daemons and the gods were the furthest things from the people’s mind, a time when… when he had her.“….. Still here Argal?” He says, aware that Argal Tal hasn’t left the room.
“…. Your thinking about Mother again, aren’t you?” Argal ask, and the twitch from the Thing’s shoulders tells him he’s right. “…. We will save her Little Light, we will free her from the forces that have broken her.” Argal says, walking up next to the Thing he called Little Light, a title of endearment that his Gene-Mother gave to him. “And you are the key to that, you are the reason why I am here and able to aid you in this mission… all of us, we are your sons now, and we stand with you.”
“… I know… I know…” Little Light says, appreciating Argal Tal’s faith in him and his goals. “… We have much to do, and I fear time may be running out… make sure your brothers are ready for when the time comes for us to move…”
Argal Tal bows, “It will be done… Lord Malal….”

2024.05.16 05:11 Character_Morning_32 Problem is the party never ends

Morning all (or afternoon, evening, take your pick), I've been a problem substance abuser for twenty three years now, starting at 16. Luckily nothing too heavy, initially weed, I was never a gifted smoker and could never hold down a job, looked like shit and didn't care, slept all day and all night, tons of debt, shitty friends, missed out on hundreds, maybe thousands of amazing experiences because I wanted to stay home and get high. In 2008 I broke out of that, got a job in teaching and have been essentially a functioning alcoholic ever since. It's like my whole life I've always just been bad at being clear headed and straight, never content to just sit there without something getting me wrecked. Teaching is full of drinkers, I love rock, punk, metal, clubs, festivals, all full of drinkers. I am currently travelling around various spots in Asia (Vietnam - Malaysia - Japan - Thailand - currently Taiwan), working online and living the dream. Full of drinkers. I have also been a liability on a number of occasions. Drinking until 4am, blacking out, waking up somewhere where I don't know where I am. I dont piss myself but I do lose a lot of hats and cigarettes. Last Saturday morning I woke up on a bench, made it about 200m down the street then passed out on another bench, threw up under it then finally got my shit together and stumbled home. This was at about 7am in a big city in Taiwan. Families, kids going to Saturday school, elderly people exercising, everyone going about their day. And me, a 6ft3in white male barfing and sleeping in the middle of a park next to a busy subway station. It's fucking pathetic and I hate myself for it. I'm too old and too tired and my body is too beaten up to keep on doing this. But, booze is everywhere, and no matter how bad it gets I always convince myself of the same old cycle - quit completely for a little while - pat myself on the back for being a good boy - convince myself I can drink in moderation - drink in moderation for a little while - get a true taste for it - lose a whole weekend and wake up Monday feeling like hell - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, sober and working but filled with existential dread and suicidal ideation. I'm going back to the UK in a few weeks. Even if I manage to quit for a while here, when I'm back home I will be surrounded at all time by fellow drinkers, heavy drinkers, and various sniffables and smokables and the ten months I've spent getting my head together, avoiding everything other than booze, will all go out of the window and I'll be waking up at 6am on Monday for work after 4 hours sleep all weekend with a nose clogged with blood and regret and that specific kind of headache that only valium and more booze can come close to shifting. It's fucking depressing knowing this is how weak I am. Anyway, no real point or request, just haven't put this into words for anyone else to read. I've written loads in my diary but I'm already anxious that if I die suddenly and my mother reads it she will then also die, but of secondhand shame. I'm not particularly addicted to alcohol, I only drink beer and occasionally shots, I can go days and sometimes weeks without really missing it, if the time and place is right. I'm addicted to parties and late nights and chatting shit and singing and dancing. Which is a shame because they all lose some of their appeal when you're on the soft drinks. I mean, they don't, it's all about perception. How do you cope, those that have broken free? What're your stories? I feel like this cycle is similar for everyone that knows they have a problem. Thank you for reading x

2024.05.16 05:11 puppydrooll Hospital delirium after sepsis? Need help

White male. 63. 6’2 200 lbs. Physically active, Has past with heart disease and is on medication for that. On the night 4/28 brother was admitted to ER for severe abdominal pain. A large 5 inch mass was found in his colon (Later diagnosed as diverticulitis polyp) Then the next day his colon bursts and he was put on intubation for surgery and was diagnosed with sepsis. He had to be intubated a total of three times afterwards on and off (never for more than 2 days consecutively) due to needing clean up abdominal surgery, His final surgery was on 5/10 where he was finally able to be sealed up and come off intubation for good. Nurses have stated they’re shocked at how well he’s doing, and he hasn’t had any fever. Vitals also have been looking good except for high blood sugar which is thought to be from the medicine and antibiotics. However, today he alarmed us all because he was expressing to us that he was being tortured overnight and it seems he has having severe hallucinations, and they seem to happen at night. But he thinks it’s all real. Aside from that he can carry a normal convo, but he is having mood swings, hes emotional (VERY unlike him) and is experiencing hallucinations. He has had very little sleep in the hospital as he is a light sleeper and i am guessing from the sepsis as well. My question is… Do you think its hospital delirium? Or sleep deprivation? The medications?? (He’s been pumped with a large amount of narcotics and pain meds and antibiotics, Large doses because his tolerance is high) or a byproduct of sepsis? I am very concerned. He has not mental issues and is very clear headed. I hate he’s going through this and I don’t know how to help

2024.05.16 05:10 pwbue Candied Pecans (or Almonds, etc.)

The current recipe I use never seems to turn out right. I think the technique is right. It involves an egg white, sugar, and spice and baking the nuts on low for a half hour, stirring occasionally. But I think my ratio of sugar to nuts to spices is off. It never seems sweet enough.
Ideally, I’m looking for those roasted nuts that you might get at a carnival or renaissance fair or a sports game.
Thanks.

2024.05.16 05:08 ___Divergent___ Extremely Low Energy & Weight Gain

Question first and then context below for those who don't want to read a lot.
Question: Any recommendations to help with energy & losing weight?
My tiredness is so extreme that it feels like I'm drugged and can no longer keep going on. I can't enjoy anything anymore, like concentrating on reading a book. I can fall back asleep after taking a caffeine pill so they're almost pointless in taking (I don't drink coffee or any type of energy drink - I won't and can't).
On top of that, I continuously gain weight.
The only time I feel better, is when I'm laying down.
Context:
I had my gallbladder removed and after that, I had gone downhill. After 2 gallbladder attacks, I had gone to the doctor and it was suspected that I had IBS. These symptoms I never had until the attacks which gradually got worse. I did the LOW Fodmap diet, which did help. I had an ultrasound and it was found that I had gallstone(s)/sludge.
After the gallbladder removal, my food palate became less and less. I now can no longer tolerate vegetables, fruits (with the exception of bananas which I don't really care for), pork, white meat chicken (ex: chicken breast), breads, condiments, dairy, spices (I can only tolerate salt and not a lot of black pepper), and even eggs now give me issues. Beef and white rice seem to sit better with me; although my digestion has gotten even slower and I feel fuller always (of course extreme bloating), yet still gaining weight.
Over the course of years, I tried getting tests done, but doctor's were of no help.
I had gotten to a point that anything I literally consumed (even liquids) made me extremely nauseous. I started losing hair (eyelashes, eyebrows, etc...), lost all feeling on one side of my body (due to I believe malabsorption/malnutrition/deficiencies), etc....I could keep going; but it's basically the same story I'm sure people here have read several times.
To make a long story short - with some pushing, I finally got a referral to a gastroenterologist, who poopooed my situation and in passing was like..."well, we can try this and see if it's anything..."
I had every reaction short of vomiting after drinking the solution for the test. It turns out, I have SIBO and was put on Xifaxan & Neomycin.
It took my nausea away; however, I can tell it's slowly creeping back. I'm resolved to the fact that I will always feel like crap, no matter what I eat and things will never change.
But, I'm having a hard time dealing with the extremely low energy & weight gain.
I have tried weight watcher's (in the past, but I can no longer due to veggies & fruits be 0 foods and there's emphasis on that), carnivore diet, etc....
I take vitamins every day, but I don't know to what extent it's helping short of preventing a possible heart attack as nothing stays with me for very long.
Just looking for some pointers for what has helped others.

2024.05.16 05:06 CarelessAd3765 My brain creates bass beats

I’m convinced that my brain creates bass beats when I’m trying to go to bed. And not like “similar to heartbeat (because you’re just hearing your heartbeat)” type bass… like genuinely slightly irregular bass beats that you’d hear with loud sound systems. Even with a fan and white noise. I’ve gotten so angry that I’ve stomped outside my house at 1 AM only to be met with complete silence and then the beat returns when I lay down.
Anyone else?
The only other thing I can think of is maybe someone way way way far away is playing it and the low vibrations are traveling solo? But that doesn’t explain not hearing it when I go investigate.
I’ve resigned myself to the idea that I’m just losing my marbles so any advice or thoughts to the contrary would be so appreciated lol

2024.05.16 05:06 MosaicLifestyle Learnings from my war against annoying Slim 7 fans

This is going to be long (see TL;DR), but since getting my Slim 7 Gen 8 AMD last year I've been endlessly annoyed by one thing: the fans.
Thermal performance when pushed is great, it clearly has a suitable cooling solution for gaming loads. However, (and maybe this is my ADHD), no matter which power mode it was in the random on / off of the fans during idle or light usage was infuriating, as if the machine was intentionally designed to operate on the knife edge of the fan curve.
It seemed like the tiniest CPU temperature spikes from normal usage were triggering the fan curve up 2 steps rather than ramping progressively, and these fans whine like no other when they're spooling up.
That is, until a few weeks ago, when my motherboard somehow fried itself (a different issue altogether, non-cooling related failure). The Lenovo onsite tech botched the thermal paste and definitely used something that wasn't PTM, which made a problem that was already driving me crazy even worse.
So I picked up some PTM 7950 and Upsiren U6 putty from Aliexpress, repasted the CPU / GPU dies and replaced the stock pads with putty.
After putting it back together and running the PTM through a stress test to melt it down (for good measure I popped it back open afterwards and gave the cooler screws a tiny extra twist to lock it down), I can say that it was now running better than how it came from the factory 6 months ago. The fans were turning on more progressively, rather than being a huge distraction when they go straight to 2200rpm and stopping on a dime a few second later.
Idle was now around 45-48C, but it was still bugging me that light internet browsing was enough to kick up the fans. "Gaming laptops are just loud and hot!", yadda yadda yadda. Not good enough for me.
Then today I stopped and thought – since the BIOS doesn't allow fine adjustment of the curve, and it seems like the temperature spikes are just the nature of the AMD 7840HS, trying to keep the machine silent is a losing battle, short of neutering the performance with power limits.
So what if the answer to my desire to have no fan noise...is constant fan noise? I fired up Legion Toolkit and loaded a custom profile based on the Balanced preset, with the one tweak of raising the lowest point of the fan curve (fan off) up one tick.
The result? The fans spin all the time at 1800rpm, but the noise level is low enough that it borders on white noise. Way less distracting that random acceleration / deceleration, and when they do need to go faster it's a much smoother transition.
YMMV, and maybe I got a dud from the factory, but I'm finally happy. Hopefully this helps others, as my searches turned up plenty of posts talking about the same behavior. And of course, proceed at your own risk and watch YouTube tutorials, it's not rocket science but the job requires a delicate touch.
TL;DR: if your fans are driving you crazy consider re-doing the PTM and going with a better thermal pad solution – just because they used good materials from the factory doesn't mean the application was perfect. Also, these fans are most annoying when they're spooling up, and if it's driving your ADHD mad having them on low all the time is way less distracting than letting them turn on and off.

2024.05.16 05:05 HappyHuman924 ELI5: EM radiation's material penetration

Question coming in a second - first, here are some things I think I know about EM radiation:
Conclusion: Radiation's ability to go through a material isn't just about the photon energy; low frequencies and high frequencies both penetrate better than visible/UV. What else do you need to know to decide if frequency f can go through material M? Do you have to look at the material's available electron transitions, or...???

2024.05.16 05:04 Virtual_Switch6996 2 years long hauler 95% recovered in less than 2 months

I want to start by saying I am aware everyone's case is different. I'm not stating this is the ultimate cure for everyone since long covid is a unique case for each individual.
So I started experiencing long covid since Jan 2022 after an infection that passed fairly quickly, i got the vaccine a few weeks after. By July 2022 I starting experiencing strange symptoms which I know now to be long covid. I had two symptoms: A pressure throbbing facial pain 24/7 behind my nose, eyes and forehead and an elevated temperature 99.5-100F. I did the initial rounds like we all have and everything kept coming back normal, got on nerve medications but they failed. They told me I had atypical facial pain trigeminal neuralgia type 2. I was pretty much left in the dark. I didn't know what I had could possibly be long covid until March 2024. After finding people similar to my case, I talked to my doctor about it and started researching.
March 2024 I was put on Nurtec ODT this helped me manage my pain to some level, its used for migraines
April 2024: I started targeting the viral load and spike protein degeneration via supplementation and prescriptions.
Prescriptions:
  1. Ivermectin - every other day for 6 days, now once a week. I will keep doing this for many more months regardless, and if i get infected again it will be first thing i take for 3 days straight. I saw this work first hand on my dad in 2021 but I didn't take it when i got infected.
  2. Clarithromycin - Currently finishing up my 2 week course i got this for SIBO overgrowth from covid immune suppression. Its showing up on long haulers, overgrowth can cause brain fog and headaches. You can ask your provider for a test.
Supplements:
  1. NAC - 500mg 2x a day for spike protein denaturation
  2. Vit C - 1500-2000mg a day
  3. Glutathione 250 mg once a day for spike protein denaturation
  4. Nicotine gum - 2mg 2x a day (To bind to the acetylcholine receptors covid binds to, so it can be released and broken down with supplements)
  5. Quercetin - 1x a day
  6. Antihistamine - Allegra D 1x a day with a low histamine diet.
  7. Vitamin B complex (therapeutic doses for nerve regeneration) - Brand: Nuphoria.com
  8. Oregano oil - Antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral 2x a day for 3 weeks with a one week break in between.
  9. Gut repai recover supplement - Brand: Mybrainco.com
  10. Licorice root tea - Natural blood thinner that got recommended to me for possible covid microclotting
  11. ashwagandha - 1x a day at bedtime, helps with covid.
Honorable mentions I didn't try: Nattokinase (for spike protein denaturation)
****IMPORTANT: STOPPED TAKING MAGNESIUM. I see people reacting to food even on low histamine diets. I had to even stop my multivitamin. Why cut magnesium off? My provider told me that mRNA strand was cut using an enzyme that is activated with magnesium, and deactivated with NAC, EDTA, high doses of vitamin C or glutathione. IF anyone knows how enzymes work, they help chemical reactions by catalyzing them to completion. I suspect this is why I still was reacting to food even on a low histamine diet.
Also could be why carnivore diet helps long haulers bc there is less magnesium in red meat, higher concentrations are in fruits and even higher in vegetables. Still some amount of magnesium will enter your body its in most foods and impossible to get 100% around it, but lowering it as much as you can could really help in your recovery.
Through out this whole process i started developing other covid symptoms I didn't have the past 2 years, I knew this was a good sign because they would only last 24hrs max. For example: Chest tightness, shortness of breath going up steps, fatigue. Recently I developed strange rotten smells and a metallic taste in my mouth. ALL of these were signs I was well on my way to recovery because my atypical facial pain and elevated temperature was 95% gone. Now I don't have ANY symptoms at all.

2024.05.16 05:02 Coldy_Coldy Stage 4 Breast Cancer with low blood oxygen (80-90%)

57F. Nonsmoker. 5’4” 150lb. Palliative care only (stopped chemo by choice.) Diagnosed Stage 4 Breast Cancer in 2018. Mets to bone. No soft tissue involvement yet.
Blood oxygen regularly less than 90%. I feel fine. No shortness of breath. Blood pressure 120/80.
Will see MO soon. Curious your take on what could cause low blood oxygen?
Last bone scan: “Extensive osseous metastasis throughout the axial and appendicular skeleton.”

2024.05.16 05:02 josukehair I feel way too out of shape to ever be get in shape. This doesn’t feel normal and my doctor is stumped. Advice? Expertise?

hello everyone. i’m a 23 year old female, 5’2” and 122lbs.
for some background: i have been very sedentary all my life. ever since elementary school. i have some pretty mild asthma. i average around 1-3k steps a day and can easily average 500-900 steps on my days off from university and work. i’ve been like this for a very long time. i’ve always preferred being indoors and lounging around. i’ve gotten frequent heart palpitations my entire life, my first being during middle school gym, any amount of stairs completely winds me, and walking more than 8k a day leaves me bedridden the next day.
i’m not fat, but being so sedentary has gotten to a point where i feel very sick. i was diagnosed with vitamin D deficiency (18.7 ng/mL) earlier in the year and although i’ve now raised it to 31.0, i still feel pretty bad. i was then diagnosed with IBS. now, i’m being sent in for a sleep study because of my fatigue. i’ve gotten my heart checked multiple times. i’ve been to the ER in panic over heart palpitations so countless EKGs, i’ve gotten a holter monitor for 10 days, an echo, and a stress test. i got a barium and IV contrast CT scan of my entire abdomen and chest, and a calprotectin stool test. for blood tests i’ve gotten: rheumatoid factor, c-reactive protein, ANA IFA, B12, magnesium, full iron and full thyroid.
the only thing that came back odd was a low TSH of 0.216 that, two days later, rose to 0.416. i have a thyroid ultrasound scheduled for may 31st because of this.
i just feel so sad and depressed. i try to exercise and feel worse than ever every time. the extreme fatigue that overtakes me does not feel normal in comparison to my friends my age. i can’t keep up with them and walk around big cities or malls because i feel so overcome with exhaustion and malaise. i’m only 23 and feel like i’m 67 with a severe disease, but apparently i’m none of those things. i have no idea how to pace myself because i try to just walk around and it feels too much. can i truly be THIS out of shape at such a young age even without being overweight? i tried to get more active so i bumped my steps to 6,000 every day for 3 weeks, and suddenly became entirely bedridden for 2 weeks after.
what should i do? what more can i look into?

2024.05.16 05:01 Glabrom Is this BAM?

Have constant soft or diarrhea BMs , burning sensation, and yellowish color. Sometimes I think it seems fizzy and also when flushed it looks like it turns to dust. High urgency, probably around 10 a day. Just heard about BAM. I did remember this condition I mproving 6 months ago when I was on a stricter low fat, higher fiber diet. Not sure that it got completely better, but improvement.
I also have pretty bad pine pollen allergies. I’m on Focalin for ADHD and Losartan for blood pressure.
Talked to my general practitioner about a year ago and he just told me to improve my diet.
Just ordered digestive enzymes and probiotics to see if that helps, but that was before I heard about BAM.
Any ideas on next steps I should take or my symptoms?
