I was re-reading the original runes blog, hoping that I misunderstood it the first time I read it back in September.

But, it made me just as sad as it did last time.
I've gone from (over many years):
jQuery -> Angular -> React -> Vue -> Svelte
Always in search of the easiest framework to write in that gets out of my way and requires the least amount of code for the same outcome. So far, Svelte 4 has been the best, by a large margin, and React has been the worst.
It saddens me that Svelte 5 is going a React direction, and worse, is going to be "hiding" everything that made Svelte the best option in some dusty docs section called old stuff.
It moves developer experience to secondary, in the same way react does, and puts granular ability to control reactivity in its place.
A few examples:
export let is superior to $props. In typescript each prop is definable inline making it cleaner to read and less boilerplate to write as you don't have to write the types and then wrap it in a type to specify on the props import. Instead devs are going to inline it in the $props definition and make the code this long and superfluous type definition, as they do in react. I also believe export is closer to JavaScript itself, meaning you're not introducing new concepts, but teaching the language.
$effect is just useEffect without the dependency array, and is a source of constant confusion, questions, and pain for react developers. I know there are problems with the $: syntax, but it's rare I bump up against them, or can't fix them easily. For most everyone it'll require writing 13 more characters for every effect you write, bloat surrounding it, and separates derived and effects into two distinct things to learn for newcomers instead of one as it was before. (I've never liked the $: syntax tbh, it's weird, but it is def better than $effect and $derived imo)
$state is just useState and although I'm happy to have better support for arrays and objects, that could have been done without the unnecessary function that bloats the code. One of the reasons that React is so hard to maintain as it grows is that it grows not only with logical code, but boilerplate. And all of the hooks are the biggest culprit.
So, my biggest gripe is that it's requiring writing more code, to do the same thing, for the majority of developers. It feels like runes were created for the minority who needed that control, which is great that they have a solution, but then thrusted down the throats of every new and existing developer by hiding the "old" stuff that made Svelte, in my opinion, the best framework choice for going lightning fast.
It feels like a design choice intended to help migrate react devs to svelte, instead of make good choices for the developer experience of svelte, which is what svelte really excels at. I came to svelte because it was the closest to pure html, css, and JavaScript that I could find which also supported modern concepts.
I don't know why I wrote this. I guess I'm just hurt, because I love Svelte, and I'm sad to see it mimic frameworks that I've been trying to run from for poor DX, and I needed to tell people who might actually understand, cause my wife wouldn't 😅

provide greater protection for the recognition of certain nations’ independence, for certain nations’ sovereignty over disputed regions, and for connected purposes.
BE IT ENACTED by the King’s Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

PART 1

PROTECTED INDEPENDENCE RECOGNITION

1 Protected independence recognition status
(1) A polity in Schedule 1 is considered to have protected independence recognition.
(2) In this Act, ‘protected independence recognition’ is recognition that a polity is a sovereign state as it is an independent political entity comprising a people from a defined territory that has the capacity to enter into relations with other states and requires protection.
2 Amending a polity’s protected independence recognition
(1) The Secretary of State may, by statutory instrument amending Schedule 1 of this Act, determine that a polity does or does not have protected independence recognition and what the polity’s defined territorial boundaries are.
(2) Any statutory instrument made under subsection (1) is to be passed with affirmative procedure.
(3) The Secretary of State must consider adding a polity to Schedule 1 if—

(a) the polity in question has declared that it is an independent sovereign state;
(b) there is a dispute about the ownership of the territory that the polity claims sovereignty over; and
(c) the polity faces an active and serious threat to its existence.

(4) The Secretary of State must consider removing a polity from Schedule 1 if—

(a) the polity renounces its declaration of independence;
(b) the polity renounces its claim to their territory; or
(c) the polity no longer faces an active and serious threat to its existence.

3 Assistance in times of conflict
(1) The United Kingdom must assist a polity in Schedule 1 if another polity—

(a) declares war; or
(b) applies significant economic sanctions;

against that polity.
(2) The Secretary of State must consider whether it is appropriate and legitimate to provide the assistance requested or deemed to be necessary in regards to the assistance of a polity.
(3) If a polity in Schedule 1 engages in military action against another polity, the Secretary of State must consider—

(a) removing said polity from Schedule 1;
(b) making a determination about which polity has the valid claim to sovereignty over the territory; and
(c) diplomatic actions that can be taken to resolve the situation.

PART 2

PROTECTED SOVEREIGNTY RECOGNITION

4 Protected sovereignty recognition status
(1) A territory in Schedule 2 of this Act has protected sovereignty recognition.
(2) In this Act, ‘protected sovereignty recognition’ is recognition that a territory belongs to an existing sovereign state and needs protection.
5 Amending a territory’s protected sovereignty recognition
(1) The Secretary of State may, by statutory instrument amending Schedule 2 of this Act, determine that a territory does or does not have protected sovereignty recognition and to which sovereign state it belongs to.
(2) Any statutory instrument made under subsection (1) is to be passed with affirmative procedure.
(3) The Secretary of State must consider adding a territory to Schedule 2 if—

(a) the territory in question is recognised as owned by a sovereign state;
(b) there is a dispute about the ownership of the territory; and
(c) the territory—

(i) is under military occupation;
(ii) is facing civil war or unrest; or
(iii) is facing a high risk of military action.

(4) The Secretary of State must consider removing a territory from Schedule 2 if the sovereign state it belongs to renounces its sovereign over that territory.

PART 3

UNPROTECTED STATUS RECOGNITION

1 Unprotected Status Recognition
(1) A polity in Schedule 3 is considered to have unprotected status recognition.
(2) In this Act, ‘unprotected status recognition’ is recognition that a polity who has lost control of its claimed territory is and continues to be a sovereign state as it is an independent political entity comprising a people from a defined territory that has the capacity to enter into relations with other states and requires protection.
(3) In this Act, ‘alternative claiming polity’ is the other entity that currently occupies or controls the land in which the polity with unprotected status recognition claims.
2 Amending a polity’s unprotected status recognition
(1) The Secretary of State may, by statutory instrument amending Schedule 1 of this Act, determine that a polity does or does not have unprotected status recognition and what the polity’s defined territorial boundaries are.
(2) Any statutory instrument made under subsection (1) is to be passed with affirmative procedure.
(3) The Secretary of State must consider adding a polity to Schedule 1 if—

(a) the polity in question has continued to declare that it is an independent sovereign state;
(b) there remains a dispute about the ownership of the territory that the polity claims sovereignty over;
(c) the polity in question continues to maintain diplomatic consultation with the United Kingdom;
(d) the polity in question makes a formal request to the United Kingdom for continued recognition
(e) the alternative claiming polity to the polity in which is in question for unprotected status recognition is considered a terrorist or extremist state.

(4) The Secretary of State must consider removing a polity from Schedule 1 if—

(a) the polity renounces its declaration of independence;
(b) the polity renounces its claim to their territory;
(c) the polity itself recognises the alternative polity claiming the formerly disputed land;
(d) the alternative claiming polity establishes formal relations with the United Kingdom, and meets human rights expectations; and
(e) it is considered by the Parliament through affirmative measure to no longer be in the interest of the United Kingdom to be involved in the continued recognition of the polity.

3 Requirements upon the Government
(1) The United Kingdom is not bound to assist the unprotected status recognition polity in any way, however may do so if such is the wish of the government, or by parliament through an affirmative measure.

PART 4

FINAL PROVISIONS

6 Definitions
In this Act—

’sovereign state’ is to be construed as “an independent political entity comprising a people from a defined territory that has the capacity to enter into relations with other states and requires protection.”
‘protected independence recognition’ is to be construed in accordance with subsection 1(2).
’protected sovereignty recognition’ is to be construed in accordance with subsection 4(2).
’defined territorial boundaries’ is to be construed as the territories outlined for a particular polity within Schedules 1 and 2

7 Extent, commencement, and short title
(1) This Act extends to England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
(2) The provisions of this Act shall come into force the day this Act is passed.
(3) This Act may be cited as the Protected Sovereign States and Territories Act 2023.

SCHEDULE 1

PROTECTED INDEPENDENCE RECOGNITION POLITIES

State of Israel
1 (1) The State of Israel has protected independence recognition as defined by this Act.
(2) The territory of the State of Israel is the territory under their name as defined by the demarcation line set out in the 1949 Armistice Agreements between the nations of Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and Israel known as the Green Line.
State of Palestine
2 (1) The State of Palestine has protected independence recognition as defined by this Act.
(2) The territory of the State of Palestine is the territory under their name as defined by the demarcation line set out in the 1949 Armistice Agreements between the nations of Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and Israel known as the Green Line.
Republic of Kosovo
3 (1) The Republic of Kosovo has protected independence recognition as defined by this Act.
(2) The territory of the Republic of Kosovo is the territory of the Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija as defined by the Constitution of the nation of Serbia on the commencement of this Act.
Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic
4 (1) The Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic has protected independence recognition as defined by this Act.
(2) The territory of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic is the territory of Western Sahara as defined by the border of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania and the line at 27° 40’ N extending from the ocean to the border of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.
Republic of Cyprus
5 (1) The Republic of Cyprus has protected independence recognition as defined by this Act.
(2) The territory of the Republic of Cyprus is the entirety of the island of Cyprus excluding the sovereign base areas of—

(a) Akrotiri; and
(b) Dhekelia.

Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste
6 (1) The Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste has protected independence recognition as defined by this Act.
(2) The territory of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste is the territory of East Timor as defined in the Constitution of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste.
Ukraine
7 (1) The nation of Ukraine has protected independence recognition as defined by this Act.
(2) The territory of Ukraine consists of the Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Chernivtsi, Crimea, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Khmelnytskyi, Kirovohrad, Kyiv Municipal, Kyiv, Luhansk, Lviv, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Poltava, Rivne, Sevastopol, Sumy, Ternopil, Vinnytsia, Volyn, Zakarpattia, Zaporizhzhia, and Zhytomyr Oblasts.

SCHEDULE 2

PROTECTED SOVEREIGNTY RECOGNITION TERRITORIES

Crimea, Donetsk, Kherson, Luhansk and Zaporizhzhia
1 (1) The territories of Crimea, Donetsk, Kherson, Luhansk and Zaporizhzhia has protected sovereignty recognition as defined under this Act.
(2) The sovereign state of the territories of Crimea, Donetsk, Kherson, Luhansk and Zaporizhzhia is the nation of Ukraine.
(3) (a) The territory of Crimea is the territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city with special status of Sevastopol
(3) (b) The territory of Donetsk is the territory of the Donetsk Oblast as defined by Ukraine
(3) (c) The territory of Kherson is the territory of the Kherson Oblast as defined by Ukraine
(3) (d) The territory of Luhansk is the territory of the Luhansk Oblast as defined by Ukraine

Golan Heights
2 (1) The territory of Golan Heights has protected sovereignty recognition as defined under this Act.
(2) The sovereign state of the territory of Golan Heights is the Syrian Arab Republic.
(3) The territory of Golan Heights is the territory under their name as defined by the demarcation line set out in the 1949 Armistice Agreements between Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and Israel known as the Green Line.

SCHEDULE 3

UNPROTECTED STATUS RECOGNITION POLITIES

Islamic Republic of Afghanistan
1 (1) The polity of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan has unprotected sovereignty recognition as defined under this Act.
(2) The territory of Afghanistan is the territory of the 34 divisions of Afghanistan.

Speaker,
Over the past few years, our nation has witnessed a wave of upheaval across the world, as nations returned to violent means as a method of the annexation of territory and people, a principle the world had thought was dismantled after the Second World War. As I said nearly two years ago, I shall repeat as I wish to cast reflection upon our role as a country across the global community with these matters in mind. Should we wallow in isolation, or should we stand for what is right?
When I stood at the Despatch box as Prime Minister, Foreign Secretary, or any other role, I spoke of the need for active foreign policy. Speaker, these are not just words or slogans, active foreign policy requires the United Kingdom to recognise its own duty as the mother of parliaments to defend, protect, and promote democracy and human rights internationally. It is part of this task that I present the Protected Sovereign States and Territories Bill to the parliament again, reflective of what we have witnessed over the past few years, to bring the needed legislative changes required to ensure an active foreign policy is at the forefront of the mind of the government of the day.
The Protected Sovereign States and Territories Bill is fundamentally about ensuring the recognition of vulnerable nations, whose existence is at risk of extinction due to potential conflict or collapse, continues regardless of the government of the day. This legislation would prevent a government from unilaterally revoking the recognition of the nations within Schedule 1, and the ownership of the territories within Schedule 2. As an example, I will highlight Kosovo as a nation that should be uplifted to protected independence recognition status. Kosovo is a relatively new nation, whose Declaration of Independence was recognised by our nation on the 18th of February 2008. Kosovo’s very existence as a sovereign nation is under threat each day, as an active campaign continues attempting to undermine its recognition and sovereignty. This legislation ensures that parliament’s will to stand with the people of Kosovo in recognising their independence is protected, away from the unilateral statement of a rogue foreign minister.
To alleviate any concerns, I will address some matters raised within previous debates on this topic. This legislation will not prevent the future recognition of new nations, his Majesty’s government retains this power to ensure our nation may quickly respond to fast moving scenarios. This legislation will not require conflict as an automatic means of resolution, all that is required by this legislation is for something to be done, diplomatic support covers this sufficiently. This legislation will not cripple the Government's ability to conduct foreign affairs and policy, the Minister retains a large variety of powers even on matters subject to this act to ensure the flexibility of our nation's foreign policy is preserved, whilst protecting the recognition of vulnerable nations.
With all of this in mind, and what we have witnessed over the past few years in our hearts, I urge all members to see the good that this legislation will bring, to stand with these vulnerable nations, and vote yes to this legislation.

Title pretty much says it all. I'm basically stuck in a toxic relationship with literally no support.
This is a long read, I'm sorry. It feels so good to finally be able to speak all of this out loud.
I've been with my partner for close to a decade and I would be lying if I said it was ever really great. A little backstory: we started dating in early 2017 when we were both 19 turning 20 and moved in with each other that same summer. We lived 2 hours away from each other when we met and our visits always consisted of me traveling to see her and eventually I moved to her city. She had a car, I did not. From the start, we struggled with infidelity (at the beginning it was both of us but I can admit that these days I'm the problem in that aspect), financial issues and just overall not seeing eye to eye. The biggest problem to date is the financial issues we have.
In the beginning, my partner was not diagnosed with anything and was really reckless (constantly quitting jobs, spending most money on weed and fast food, trying other drugs) and also very aggressive and messy (drama). I don't think I have to explain the amount of pressure and stress that put on me to make sure bills and rent were being paid while only making $11/hr while also trying to navigate her emotions and the never-ending drama cycle. I NEVER WANTED TO BE A PROVIDER and I made this clear to my partner on many occasions but I was still being forced to basically pay for her lifestyle. Her only response to my complaints about money was "everyone struggles, look at my parents". Her parents are decent people but definitely not role models when it comes to finances and neither are mine. I was young and in love and this was my first "adult" relationship so in my mind these were normal things that young people go through. I wholeheartedly believed that eventually she would come around and chill out, I was slightly right.
About 4 years ago she was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and it felt like maybe things were turning around. She got on meds and in therapy and it seemed as though things were getting better. Unfortunately it did not get better. Well, her emotional state got better. Financially not much changed. She went from getting and quitting jobs to just not applying because "they're not a good fit" and if I say anything about it I get called names and "not supportive". To be fair she will doordash from time to time but that money goes to weed and fast food. There was a time when I was pleading with her to just get a job and help me out and she literally told me that a good partner would basically just suck it up and deal with it because she's mentally ill. Apparently the years before she was diagnosed don't count as me sucking it up and dealing with it lol. She also will berate me and tell me I need meds and therapy but doesn't realize I need money to pay for those things lol. She has free healthcare through the state, I pay for mine through my job and it's not good.
Earlier I mentioned how she was the only one with a car when we got together and 7 years later its still the same way. Even though I'm the only one that works and I make enough to go finance a car, I can't. All of my money goes towards bills/rent and you guessed it, her car payment. After paying bills every week I can't even afford $250 for a road test for my license. I drive every day, she literally will refuse to drive if I'm with her. When things are good its our car, when she gets mad its her car and I can't drive it and I need to find a way to work blah blah blah. I can't talk to her about these things because all she does is say I'm blaming her for my problems and it's not her fault my mom didn't buy me a car as a teenager. LOL. But she absolutely is the reason I can't afford a car of my own and my mom not buying me a car 10 years ago has nothing to do with our current circumstances.
I stopped smoking weed and I'm trying to be more active (I'm overweight) and now I'm a narcissist according to her. I didn't ask her to stop with me or to start being active but apparently she feels some type of way about it. I can't express my feelings to her about how this relationship dynamic does not work for me or how I'm completely overwhelmed and exhausted without her deflecting and making everything my fault. I can't tell her how I don't feel cared for when she brushes my feelings off as nagging because she will call me a narcissist.
I've been having knee problems and could possibly need surgery, it that happens we are fucked and more than likely going to be homeless and without a car. I have a better job than before but still no savings and only enough PTO to last maybe a week. She's currently in school and doesn't work because it's too much for her.
The worst part of all this is the fact that I can't tell my family or friends what I'm going through because 1. She will be upset. She doesn't want to be judged and not be seen as "innocent, sweet, and caring". Those are her own words she uses to describe herself. Meanwhile she tells her family EVERYTHING. If I upset her in any way she's running to the sibling group chat. Apparently its ok for her family to form an opinion of me and pass judgment but not for my family. 2. I feel embarrassed. I don't want to be called a fool for dealing with this for so long.
Obviously leaving her is an option but I have no money and I'm 2 hours away from my closest family. I've pretty much lived my entire adult life in the city that I'm currently in, with her.

Just as the title implies I've gathered all the possible ideas I've heard regarding Sukuna's latest CT and what I think about them. Possible steam(steaming), the ability to raise the temperature of the environment(baking), some oild ability(deep fry), some ability related to sauces(maybe he can create liquid substance in which he can add effects to it e.g make it heal, corroded, weaken, or strengthen), flavor related attacks(salt, spice, sweet, sour, bitter, unami???)

• I don't think there's a decided mechanism for how he receives the sacrifice. It could be he has to kill someone/someone offers themselves to him. My favorite theory is that Sukuna much like Hakari started with his domain except his domain didn't have a sure hit effect yet and instead whoever he killed within his domain would become his sacrifice.
  

Destruction: Sukuna is the god of destruction and his power is different forms of destruction. His slashes are physical destruction which means we could see blunt force trauma or torque as abilities. His fuga is destroyed with heat. He would also have acid-based abilities(melting by acid and heat are different in science), lightning-based abilities(lightning burns are different chemically to fire and heat burns), and nuclear destruction by breaking the bond/atoms of things to release energy in the form of heat and light.

• I think its cool, a really neat reference to Hindu mythology and ties in with kenjaku being Brahma, Tengen being Vishnu, and sukuna being shiva. Definite fits in with sukuna having 4 arms and wielding a trishula(his trident)

Shrine: Sukuna can call on the power of various shinto gods. His slashes are from the god of war Hachiman, his fire is from Kagutsuchi. He would have storm abilities(susanoo), sun abilities(amaterasu), moon(tsukyomi), lightning and wind(raijin and fuijin), and maybe creation(izanagi and izanami)

• I think the least plausible. Sounds cool but doesn't seem to have any explicit evidence to support it

Im ok with Iron Wolves as a themed season, if you even wanna call it that. I am however more excited for a massive core game overhaul than I am for a seasonal theme. Not to mention they added tempering, Masterworking, and The Pit. Alongside new Helltide changes and Tormented Echoes, this is HUGE for the game and a great play for what I think the D4 team is really up to.
Now hear me out...
This is just the start, remember, the expac is coming out at the end of season 4. This was their rollout of a complete itemization overhaul, lowkey prepping the release of the expac thats surely making even more changes to the mechanics of the game. We havent heard too much about the expansion other than we are getting an unidentified class, its set in a jungle, and its coming out in the summer, so what are they cooking? Now this is all theoretical but....
Im gonna make a prediction that theyre gonna bombshell us with RUNES in the new expansion.
First off, they've been taking feedback from people and actually implementing changes (slowly but surely), more so than they have in D3. Second, yall remember when D3 was dead before ROS was released and how much traction the game had after it dropped?(didnt age too well but definitely had traction) I think D4 had a terrible year and the devs realized that listening to the consumer was probably within their best interest to save the game, even before release they wanted feedback and now we even got a PTR. So I think that people asking for runes from D2 for the last 20 years, and them finally dropping it in the expansion, will blow the game up in a massive way. AND I dont know if anyone remembers but when the lead class designer was asked about runes in D4 before the game was released, he said something along the lines of "theyre not focused on that just yet." "Yet". When you take in where the expansion takes place, a jungle with mayan architecture, its pretty synonymous with runes as a theme. Alongside bringing Mephisto back, who was the main antagonist in D2, I think theyre going all in for this expansion.
This is all speculation but I only started to put things together when I realized that the expansion is releasing after season 4, the season of "Loot Reborn". Which had me thinking that yes, this is a much needed overhaul but a massive one at that, why didnt they just wait until the expansion? The answer is simple, they want to show the consumer they care and are making meaningful changes in a bombshell way to draw them back into the game. Weve been asking for itemization changes since release and they finally pulled the trigger on it. I know it takes time to fix these things so it wasnt out of the question but S3 was the games downfall. How much more hits can the game take before its dead? This overhaul is like the co-main event before the actual title bout. But what can you do for the expansion where the consumer would peak for the game? Something theyve been asking for, for far too long....RUNES. You cant tell me that the devs are completely ignoring this notion because its always brought up in discussions about diablo and what people want most out of D4, hell even in D3 they never implemented it but people still requested it. Which begs the question, what else could they possible put in the game that would be as big as runes? A new map and class is cool but the core game is more important for this type of game. Am I coping? Possibly. Is it out of the question? Definitely not, in fact, the idea of runes wasnt even shot down when asked about it, only hinted in a subtle way. Will they pull the trigger on this? What do you guys think?

What event was your favorite in this list?

Well guys, as the title says, I am fat and would like to know how to go about losing weight , and gaining muscle as a type one diabetic . at the moment , I am five foot eight and way two hundred fifteen pounds . not quite sure the target wait to shoot for, but, I definitely want to get rid of the fat on my midsection, destroy these man boobs and have a toned physique. Daily push-ups have started impacting my shoulders and arms positively. How do I however go about dealing with my midsection? More precisely, in regards to low blood sugars.if my blood sugar goes low, would The snacks I have to regulate my hypoglycaemia count toward my daily macros? Thank you guys.

I will be giving birth in September and I’m doing some research about giving birth to not be completely unprepared.
I am signed in two hospitals. One is private care and the other is public. I still have to choose which one it definitely will be.
In my pregnancy class I hear some ladies talking about a few types of anaesthesia like epidural or walking or even laughing gas. Or giving water birth or keeping the placenta.
I was wondering how did your delivery go,how did you decide how you wanted to have the baby delivered with no previous experience? Cause now I feel like everyone keeps asking me what kind of plane I would like to fly without even knowing how to be a pilot. A bit extreme😂 yes ! But I really need some advise!

What are some films that were justifiably retroactively positivity reviewed, but you find their overall ranking to be far too high and seem overdone in praise recently. On this sub and for me personally it seems it’s OHMSS, LTK, and TWINE. These are my 15th/8th/18th ranks respectively
I see why these movies have been well received in recent times, and agree they are better than what most people usually rank them. Below are some issues within my opinion that keep them from the very high rankings I see on other’s film rankings.
OHMSS: To what extent can I enjoy a Bond film without an enjoyable Bond? I cannot argue that the cinematography, supporting acting, and many aspects of the film aren’t wonderful, and furthermore agree that Lazenby isn’t always the dud as commonly portrayed. However, when I see him on screen I just have a nagging desire someone else did this, I can’t shake it no matter how many times I try. Similarly I find the Blofeld allergies plot a bit ridiculous, and think the middle chunk of the film with undercover and dubbed 007 as very weak and anathema to what many point as the most realistic film, which is usually thought of due to the ending. It’s by no means the worst as was traditionally viewed, but I always find it interesting how many have it as favorite or top 10.
LTK: just doesn’t have the polished and slick Bond feel as the others, and definitely falls into a typical 80s action film setting. The lifestyle or travelogue moments like his time in the casino seem cheap in comparison with other films. I love Dalton and the idea of the film, but things like ninjas, occasional dialogue cringe with the 2 Bond girls, a too old Felix, and the awful wedding scenes with Della drags it down from a top 5 on a rewatch.
TWINE: I don’t need to cover Denise since I actually think she did the best she could with what was being asked of her. I have never enjoyed the M and King plot line and didn’t seem to find her capture or interactions with Elektra that interesting. They had a golden opportunity to use Renard and his imperviousness to pain as a really good foil but besides holding a hot rock they didn’t do much. I greatly enjoy Sophie’s acting and Pierce does a solid job trying to portray his care for Elektra, but some scenes do seem a little soapish with the acting in execution. Great title track though.

Quick thoughts: The Dark Age is fine, What's My Line is part of why BTVS is great.
The Dark Age
Summary: Giles' dark past comes back to haunt him. It ends up hurting Jenny and distancing her from him.
This was fine. I didn't quite have the greatness which BTVS is capable of, but it was fine.
Random thoughts in a random order:

• In this episode we have the line "three down, two to go". In the next one we'll have "one down, one gone", and I think in the previous episode—Lie To Me (2x7)—there was also some take on "N down, M to go". These phrases always make me think of Willow's "one down" line in Villains (6x20), and the title of the next episode, Two to Go (6x21).
• Ooh, more Ethan! Ethan is great!
• I used to be a teenager, but it's a while ago. I liked Buffy's line near the end, which I'll inadvertently paraphrase: "I used to think of you as a grown-up [i.e. distant], now I discovered you're a person [i.e. relatable]". I think I must have forgotten the teen perspective and just how big the gap feels. The ages in my current friendship circles spans four decades. The scoobies at some point refer to Giles as "their grown-up friend". Huh, I guess I'm someone's grown-up friend, and my life feels less weird than the show is made to look on that occasion. Oh well, we have a shared recreational activity in real life, so the friendship that spans a big age range is genuine; affectionate as it is, Giles and the scoobies have more of a working relationship than a friendship. (In my book Giles hasn't fully stepped into the surrogate father role yet.)
• I guess I should talk about how this is a cautionary tale to young people about bad decisions in one's youth having the capacity to exact a price later in life. Uhm. It is.
• Hey, the morgue where Phillip (Deirdre's victim / transfer target) rises from the apparently-dead, is that the same morgue we saw in Never Kill a Boy on the First Date (1x5)? It kinda' looks like it.
• Yay for Willow being assertive towards Xander and Cordelia, "[either get to work, or] get the hell out of my library!"
• Poor Giles, having to once again face the fact that his actions got one of his friends killed, and now having to consider the fact that they may also get his love interest killed.
• Hey, does this feed thematically into the the way Buffy feels responsible for, in some sense, killing Angel (and making Angelus replacing him) in Surprise (2x13)? I think it might.
• Ooh: in this episode Angel saves Jenny. In Passion (2x17) Angel kills Jenny. (Yes, okay, Angelus.)
• Giles' irresponsible decisions almost got Jenny killed. Buffy's irresponsible decisions—unleashing Angelus—actually got Jenny killed.

What's My Line
Summary: Career day at school. The next slayer, Kendra, has a short enemies-to-rivals-to-friends with Buffy. Drusilla is restored while Spike is injured during the attempted escape, and Angel is injured during Drusilla's restoration ritual.
Oh boy, this is great. Random thoughts in a random order:

• Ooh, more Terminator references! Buffy is targeted for termination by (a) someone disguised as a police officer; and (b) a shapeshifting creature made of liquid metal maggots.
• Buffy is already doing uh supernatural community policing, so her as a police officer makes sense. I've not read the comics but I've heard she actually becomes a LEO. Her future as a LEO doesn't get much screen time, but I was still surprised by how much.
• But her actual career right now is being the Slayer, and Kendra shows Buffy how to do it by the book™.
• In that light, it's interesting that Buffy's determination increases a notch when she realizes it's personal: "no one messes with my boyfriend!"
• Willy! Ooooh I like Willy the slime ball.
• He suggests Buffy and Kendra might do "art photography, but naked". Buffy is 16 which is less than 18. Given SMG's age and look, Willy might have overestimated Buffy's age—but still, if such photography happened it would legally be ch*ld p*rn. I recall Buffy dismissing Willy with a disgusted face. I'm not sure how I feel about the show not commenting more strongly on this.
• On a lighter note (maybe), there was such a wonderful scene with Spike holding Drusilla in his arms and the two dancing after Spike talking about dancing on the slayer's grave. In Crush (5x14) Spike would happily dance with Buffy on Drusilla's grave. Between The Gift (5x22) and Bargaining (6x1-6x2), Spike is deeply troubled by the slayer having a grave. Oh how the tables will turn. And I guess in Chosen (7x22) Buffy is... not dancing, but definitely feeling a sense of relief, while standing atop the place where Spike is buried (the whole in the ground that used to be Sunnydale).
• Spike and Drusilla is an incredibly sexy couple. May I join in, please?
• Oz and Willow, while not yet a couple, are so cute together.
• Xander and Cordelia kiss. They are sooo awkward together.
• Buffy touching and kissing Angel in vamp face at the skating rink: the music makes it appear all romantic and stuff, suggesting that she's mature enough to see the man hiding below the monster's exterior. But really—I think—she's too blinded by hormones to notice the monster and the monstrous pile of red flags.
• Speaking of which, "We have this thing at school / Career day? / How do you know? / I lurk", that came across as somewhat stalker-like behavior to me. When Buffy tries to read Angel's mind in Earshot (3x18) out of jealousy, Angel says "[just ask]". Why doesn't Angel just ask what's going on in Buffy's life, then?
• Drusilla has been wearing her white dress the whole time, which I associate with purity and innocence. When at the end she's restored to her full strength and thus capacity for evil she's wearing all black. A nice contrast.
• Drusilla's white dress makes me think of a bridal gown. I think there ought to be some joke about a vampire couple staying together "till death do you part", but I haven't quite nailed it yet.

As the title says, but I will go into more depth about how bad the situation is.
For starters, I (F20) and my boyfriend (M21) both work for the same small business. I’ve been there since June 2023, he’s been there since August 2023. Originally the business was located in my hometown, so I moved back down with my BF and we got an appt here in town in Aug ‘23. We didn’t live far originally, but still. Our lease was up at our old place and so we got a new one.
Fast forward to beginning of this year. I’m talking first few days of January, she hits us up and tells us we’re moving the company about 45 minutes away to SATX (added location for state specific laws if there are any). She was going to pay me an extra $6/hr and my bf and extra $7/hr to follow her. We agreed.
Few more months go by and April 4th rolls around. Our payday. I get paid on time no prob. My bfs pay is late, but my boss finally sends it April 9th. Sucks, illegal, but overall wasn’t too bad. Around this time we plan a trip to the beach with my Bf’s sister May 6-9. We just needed to pay her for our cost of splitting the house we were going to stay at. No problem I told her, we will have two paychecks between now and then to pay you with. I even cleared the dates with my boss immediately.
Few days after, my boss asks us if we’d like to work from home. Same pay, same job duties, just don’t have to commute to work anymore. Hindsight, this was the beginning of the end, but hindsight is a bitch and doesn’t matter. Anyways, we agree again.
The weekend of April 19th-21st we were invited to go out of town to visit our friends and celebrate one of their birthdays. Originally, we weren’t going to be able to make it because we worked Fridays and Saturdays; but since we now worked from home we made the trip out there. It’s about 2 hours from home for us. Well i had enough gas in my car to get us up there, and we were supposed to be paid April 19th, no biggie. Except very big biggie because she didn’t pay us then. Or the next day. Or the next. So essentially we were stranded. Luckily our friend lent us gas money to get home. This is the start of our problem.
Over the next week it’s a constant back and forth of her saying she’s going to pay us, and then not paying us. I told her multiple times that we needed to be paid our next paycheck on time because it was going to be used for rent, and to pay for the trip we were taking in a couple weeks. May 2nd rolls around, our next payday, and nothing. She proceeds to ghost us for the weekend.
Luckily, my boyfriend’s sister was extremely understanding and is letting us pay her back whenever we eventually get paid, so we were still able to go to the beach. We were able to borrow some money from our roommate to be able to do some stuff while we were down there. The money lasted us one day. While i was still extremely grateful to be able to go on a vacation, I had plans. I had things i wanted to do, places i wanted to eat, etc. And i was not able to do a good majority because we didn’t have the money we were supposed to.
Which brings us to today May 14th. Utilities were due yesterday. We have not been paid still.
In total, out of about the $3000 she owes us, we have only been paid $850. $850 fucking dollars since APRIL 19th. I’m at my wits end. We’ve filed a wage claim with the Texas Workforce Commission, I was able to get a new job waiting tables but I don’t even start until next Tuesday. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. We don’t have the money to sue her because she hasn’t paid us. We are hungry because we can’t buy groceries. Our main source of food has been eating with my mom, and even then, we have to save the food we get to be able to make more than 1 meal come from it. We have flies in our bathroom attracted to my cats litter box because we have no litter to change it. Please, anything helps.
TLDR; my boss has only paid us $850 out of about $3k since April 19th.
