2024.05.16 06:16 furmama22 What's going on with my face

Since April 26th my left side of my face has been numb. It's not visibly numb or droopy but it is definitely numb compared to my right side- which isn't at all. May 12th I woke to my tongue tingly & very obviously numb. It feels as tho I've been to the dentist. I haven't been since Oct 2023 I call the nurses line they tell me to call 911 because it sounds like a stroke! I dont because that sounds silly, im a 33yo f with kids at home I cant just leave. May 14th was a normal day with the half numb face. But I started to get a migraine out of nowhere. Migraines are something I'm familiar with but never out of the blue like that. I take 2 sumatriptan & pass-out. Today I feel normal, left side of my lips feel more numb than they have whatever but no migraine so I don't go in.
I have been very stressed & anxiety riddled as of late. So I could presume it's that. BUT! June 2023 left side of my face goes numb. I figure it was wind blown from being on the ferry. But it continues to be numb for a month. I was literally the most stress free, happy, no anxiety in years person. Nurse practitioner said it was Shingles. But I didn't have a rash or pain. Just a half numb face. From the left tip of my nose down the back of my scalp, literally the entire half of my head was numb. No other symptoms. My tongue never felt like it does now. I have gotten migraines since 2014 give or take so I couldn't say if they were worse at this time last year.
Wtf is wrong with me?? Waiting to get a CT scan done & to see a neurologist but looking to see if anyone else relates?

2024.05.16 02:36 027Throwaway1027 This isn't for me

I have been working at the hospital for almost 7 months and it has been nothing short of being in hell. I am at work for like 15 hours most shifts because I am always overwhelmed with the amount of work I have to do. I often don't get any breaks or have my lunch. I survive on sips of water and ice throughout my shift. My anxiety has never been so horrible and I dread coming to work. Just driving near the hospital triggers me. I'm also getting tired of other people saying "Oh there's so many opportunities in nursing" my a**. I have been searching for job that's outside of the hospital and they LITERALLY do not f*cking existing. The few I have found are for nurse practitioner, APRN, or are asking for five years of experience. I can't do this BS for another year let alone five. All nurse talk about, oh you have to suffer and damn near have to off yourself for the first couple of years in this career. That is literally insanity, do other nurse know how crazy they sound. I don't hear this load BS from other careers outside of healthcare. I honestly want to quit. Thank you for coming to my ted talk.

2024.05.16 01:09 HappyMom1 Angry patient

I have outstanding, positive reviews on Google and almost 100% perfect Press Ganey scores from patients...but you just can't please them all. I spent over 60 minutes with a new patient, and at the end of the visit, she says, "but the main reason that I am here is for my chronic pelvic pain." The reason listed for the appointment that she scheduled was to discuss hormones and urinary symptoms. I very kindly told her that we would need her to return for another appointment to address that. She scheduled, then called the OM to ask to be refunded her copay because "I barely laid a finger on her." I DID performed a problem focused abdominal exam, and most of her visit was spent on counseling and obtaining a complicated history/reviewing her records. I reached out to her to say that I was sorry that she was disappointed in her visit. She was very nasty and said that she wanted to see a DOCTOR not a NURSE PRACTITIONER, and said that I was harassing her. Then she went on Google reviews and said that I fraudulently documented a full physical exam (I truly only documented what I did). She then reported me to my healthcare organization. I don't really understand why she snapped, because I was truly trying to help her. Has anyone ever had a situation like this? I'm thinking about getting a lawyer to send her a cease and desist letter for defamation.

2024.05.15 20:38 throwaway10304050 Experiences of women who started in/after their 30s?💓

Hello 💓
I am expected to finish my undergraduate studies this June 2024. I am 22 years old and anticipating applying to doctoral programs in the discipline I’ve loved since I was in high school. I’ve consulted my undergraduate research advisors and professors—who are now some of my closest friends and have expressed that if I didn’t apply to my PhD it would be a waste (which also still baffles me because I’m aware many professors do the most they can to dissuade students from the grueling journey).
However, I need more time and experience to mature as a person and as a researcher. I’m painfully aware of my arrested development. I work incredibly hard especially when it’s from the energetic reservoir of passion, but I am very enmeshed with my family and church and need to develop a healthy ego independent of them and a sense of self preservation.
I am still curious about too many things. My interests are also too broad. I’d like to work in a few more labs and save money from other types of work before applying and entering a program. While working, I anticipate gaining more on the ground experience that will help me hone in on my particular research questions and illuminate gaps that I’ll be curious to bridge.
I anticipate this “gap” (in quotes because I’ll still be working, reading, and writing) will be 3 years, but there is potential for it to be longer especially if some of my family members decline in health.
My family is concerned that a doctorate program will swallow my youth. The question, “but what if you want to have kids? It’s different for women because these are their prime years to start a family.” Is raised often. My decision to be child-free is moralized, especially from a religious and close family upbringing. They have fair concerns about stable and lucrative job prospects too, but this mostly is expressed through “but who cares about research?” And “you wouldn’t want to teach kids anyway it’s so much stress.”
I feel very strongly about the creative, intellectual, and professional baby I’ve been nursing these last few years and have no interest in starting a family right now. I also have worked with children and as a Sunday school teacher. Although it’s different, I am familiar with instructing, developing lesson plans, answering to parents and authorities, and all the additional interpersonal work that comes with teaching. I love it despite the tedious, frustrating, and exhausting bits. I want to eventually reach a different stage of students.
At this point, I’ve already resolved to actualize this plan, whether or not my family approves. Right now, I think I am looking for testimonies to help alleviate some of the guilt, loneliness, and fear of (1) starting a PhD program near or after your 30s and (2) choosing that path as a woman (given the opportunity costs of starting a family)
Thank you so much for your consideration!

2024.05.15 19:13 JoshM3250 In serious need of help with getting my financial act together. Where do I go for help?!

This post has the potential to be a bit long, so please bear with me...
A question I often ask myself is "are there financial planners for people like me who don't have a ton of money and often barely make ends meet?" So now, I guess I'm asking this sub. I don't know where to turn at this point in my life, which has been riddled with terrible financial decisions, bad luck, and family health issues.
About me: 39, male, USA. I work full-time for a health care company in Pennsylvania, making right around $88K yearly before taxes and deductions. My wife is unable to work due to a variety of health issues (both mental and physical), but does have a small Etsy shop that brings in an average of $300 on a good month. We have an unusually large family by today's standards -- 7 children ranging from 6 years old (twins) to 17. This is the part where people usually look at me like I have three heads, understandably so. Before my wife's health issues, she was a paramedic and in nursing school. So the plan was to eventually have two incomes once the kids were a bit older, but life didn't turn out that way. And before anyone asks, yes, we are done with having kids. I love them all more than life itself and would never imagine a world without them, but I am smart enough now to know that it would not have been this hard with fewer kids.
It's been very hard (nay, impossible) to get by on one income and a large family, even with some help from relatives along the way. But through it all, we have barely made it work, although I have shot my credit to hell and back in the process. My score hovers around 550 to 570 most of the time, but plummets pretty fast if I miss a payment on something.
Right now, high interest debt is my main issue. I have a variety of low-limit credit cards all maxed out (probably $5k total) a personal loan from OneMain Financial ($400 payment), an auto loan from Carvana/BridgeCrest ($508 payment, worst mistake of my life honestly but was in a desperate situation at the time), and student loans I've had to either defer or flat out stop paying. Other high expenses are groceries, obviously, but I do get $600 in SNAP benefits each month, car insurance at $250 per month because my wife has gotten into a few accidents the last 5 years, and of course rent, which is $1,900 since we need a 5-bedroom house for our large family. We used to own our home but were forced to sell in 2022 due to a variety of issues and our dire need to find a larger place to live for our growing kids.
Suffice to say, most months we either barely make ends meet, or don't at all. I sometimes have to rely on cash advance apps like MoneyLion and Earnin just to make it to the next payday. I have pretty much nothing in savings except for a very small "retirement" account, which is in quotes because I contribute 1% to it just to get my company match. I drained it a few years ago during an emergency that is too long of a story to tell here.
Everyone that I have talked to has said the same essential thing -- to look for a higher-paying job. While this is true, it's more complicated than that in reality. My current job (which I have been at for 1.5 years) affords me the flexibility to work from home most days, and understands that I need to care for my wife (who has substantial mental health issues) and kids and not be "on" 100% of the time. That is often more valuable than a higher salary, but I do know that I am capable and skilled enough in my field to eventually take a shot at a higher paying job.
So. What the heck do I do? Is there someone I can talk to about all this, who can give me real, practical advice? Would a credit union be able to help me with my high-interest debt yet terrible credit score/profile? Ideally, I would love to be able to consolidate all my debt into something more manageable. Is that even a possibility with my credit being bad? I get mail offers all the time saying I am "pre-selected" or pre-approved for a consolidation loan from some random company. I think these are all debt relief companies or possibly a scam, right? I am also severely underwater with our current vehicle as mentioned above. I owe probably 8k more than what it's worth right now, and the van is pretty much a lemon with how many problems it has.
Thank you for reading all this. I am a fairly positive person (I have to be, with the kids and taking care of my wife) but this feels pretty hopeless to me right now. I just wish I could hand over everything to someone who can manage my finances for me, and do the heavy lifting to get things under control. Sigh.

2024.05.15 15:52 FyrestarOmega r/lucyletby has reached 10,000 members! Here's what the subreddit is and is not

The trial of Lucy Letby ran for 10 months from October 2022 through verdicts rendered in August 2023. lucyletby is NOT a true crime subreddit. From the first days of the trial, this subreddit has followed the evidence presented in court via public reporting. Verdicts were rendered in August 2023, which this subreddit acknowledges to be true and accurate, and discussion here takes place within that framework.
The verdicts in Lucy Letby's trial have already been ruled safe by an initial appeal judge, and a ruling from three senior judges of the full court of appeal is expected any day. A public meeting for the Thirlwall Inquiry is to be held tomorrow. This subreddit will cover and discuss any and all news that emerges from these proceedings.
The evidence in Lucy Letby's trial is vast and complicated. Here are some recommended starting points
The specific verdicts recorded in August 2023
The Trial of Lucy Letby podcast on Spotify
The Trial of Lucy Letby podcast on Apple Podcasts
This subreddit has compiled all of the available daily reporting, and our discussions thereof, in our subreddit wiki. A chart of the babies with birthdate, gestational age, birth weights, charge, verdict, and method/alleged method is also found there.
In UK trials, after closing speeches conclude, the presiding judge sums up the evidence given by both sides and presents it before the jury. His summary took five days to present, and can be found here:
Day 1, July 3 Children A-C
Day 2, July 4 Children D-G
Day 3, July 5 Children H-J
Day 4, July 6 Children K-P
Day 5, July 10 Child Q
The attempted murder charge related to Child K is scheduled to begin next month. We are not permitting new discussion of previously presented evidence related to this charge at this time, in line with UK reporting restrictions and contempt of court rules. resources do exist at the links above. When the retrial begins, we shall do our best to consider the trial afresh, without making comparison to the first trial until after its conclusion.
Much criticism has been lodged against Subreddit Rule 3 and its related removal reason. The language is based in the jury's judicial role as the Trier of Fact. This is a consistent role across jury trials in both the UK and the US. "In law, a trier of fact or finder of fact is a person or group who determines disputed issues of fact in a legal proceeding (usually a trial) and how relevant) they are to deciding its outcome."
Users from outside the UK would do well to familiarize themselves with the legal structure of a UK criminal trial (including what a majority verdict is and why they are normal), and the culture of the NHS, which has marked differences from privatized health care and at-will employment normal in the US.
We do not permit posts or discussions that run contrary to evidence and outcomes legally accepted, because such sources have not survived cross examination the way that admitted evidence has. This trial has attracted much misinformation, and that is where we choose to draw the line.
Our decision to not platform certain articles or websites is an informed one, made with the experience and knowledge of the information within. Here I will quote longtime subreddit member u/SleepyJoe-ws, who expressed this well:
UK reporting restrictions aside, it is this sentiment that riles up so many of us. We have spent (far, far too many) hours poring over each and every detail of the case and trial reported in the press - some of us for years. The accounts of the parents and the pathology/ radiological evidence of deliberate harm to these defenceless little babies is absolutely gut-wrenching and the stuff of nightmares. We also have the utmost respect for the jury who no doubt will be very traumatised after suffering through hundreds and hundreds of hours of distressing testimony and evidence over a trial that lasted the better part of a year. It seems the jury took their time to carefully consider each and every charge on its own merit, finding guilty where they believed it was due, not guilty when they believed the case was not proved and not returning verdicts when they couldn't decide. I cannot imagine the impact that this long, painstaking trial has had on the parents of the babies who died, those who have children who survived but were permanently maimed, the siblings who survived (think the surviving triplet sibling of O and P!!!), the jury, prosecution, the police, and even the defence team. In addition, Letby's conduct on the stand, as portrayed via the reading of court transcripts by CS2CR (now temporarily removed) was infuriating, puerile and antagonistic.
The saga of Lucy Letby has been one of the most horrifying in modern history that I have ever encountered. I am a medical specialist and the thought that someone could commit such atrocities under our noses is terrifying. I have worked with countless young nurses just like Lucy. But yet, it has happened before that healthcare practitioners have committed the worst of the worst - murder of their vulnerable patients. And it WILL happen again. To think otherwise is simply naive.
Lucy Letby was afforded a top barrister and legal team via the British public purse for her defence, as are all accused. All accused persons are entitled to a barrister and legal team of equal qualification and reputation to that of the prosecution. Letby got this. She is also entitled to raise an appeal, which she is doing. For now, we respect the work of police, prosecution, former jury and the current court system. Once reporting restrictions are lifted, we can discuss any compelling new evidence introduced. But please, any journalist relying on Richard Gill and Sarrita Adams needs to have a good, hard look at themselves. Hence the resistance and animosity you have met in this sub.
The internet is a vast, wild west. If you wish to discuss the article further, go to some place whose mods do not have the same respect and consideration for the parents, deceased and surviving infant victims, the police, prosecution and jury. Go to some place that doesn't have the same respect for the rule of law. But that place is not here.
We are happy you have found this subreddit, and look forward to your participation with the understanding of this post.
Edited to add a link about the pending application to appeal, and a clarifying phrase related to the retrial

2024.05.15 09:58 flower_courtney94 Balloon dilation surgery a 2nd time (vent & asking for advice)

Hello all first time posting here but I had balloon dilation surgery done a first time in 2021. I now have to get it done a 2nd time.
The thing is truthfully I really don't want to get the surgery done a 2nd time. Do to the fact afterwards it really wasn't a fun experience.
Truthfully I feel like there is probably something out there that I could try besides flonase/fluticasone & xyzal.
Seriously this is all my ENT has tried.
I was seeing a nurse practitioner in the practice who understood I didn't want to get the surgery done a 2nd time & was willing to try working with that.
Though I show up to an appointment and get told oh she left & now your seeing this new guy. I walk into the appointment & he says he doesn't believe in treating stuff with medication makes me get a ct scan done & shows me I have loads of mucus built up on the right side of my sinuses & just threw me for sinus surgery a 2nd time.
I am sitting there like & I don't mention this but I am sitting there like isn't there away to you know flush the mucus out or you know maybe suck it up or something?
So I ask isn't there anything you can recommend in the mean time & while waiting to get this done then he's like nope.
Funny thing is I can still breathe out of my nose just fine from the first surgery & I can still blow my nose as well. So it makes me wonder if this 2nd surgery is even worth it & maybe there's like some other option out there we haven't tried yet.
I mean I seriously don't want to get this done a 2nd time & kind of feel like this guy is now jumping the gun.
I mean I know the first time I did the surgery it wasn't bad but this time the guy mentioned using a bigger balloon. I mean after the first surgery it left me with nerve pain shooting into my teeth truthfully. Though they also removed nasal polyps as well. So that was probably what caused the nerve pain.
This 2nd time I am going into the surgery with extreme head pain because my neck is herniated from c2-c7 from a head injury & it's causing nerve compression & vestibular migraines. I also have asthma as well so having my nose clogged up was a real pain for me to breathe properly.
So it just makes me think doing this a 2nd time will make everything worst including my nerve pain i just feel like I should cancel this appointment & get a 2nd opinion but I am not really sure & have no clue on what to do.
I mean seriously I can still breathe & blow out of my nose just fine. Where previously I couldn't really breathe or blow out my nose at all. So I don't know I just think if we could just somehow flush the mucus out then maybe some kind of medication regimen would work or maybe there's some other medication I can try besides fluticasone or zyxal.
So I am kind of just stressed out & dreading getting this done a 2nd time.

2024.05.15 09:16 Exact-Anybody1734 My brother has turned into a pretentious jerk

Hi Reddit, so I’ll try to keep this as concise as possible while still giving you all the facts. Let us start from the beginning, my at the time 21 y.o. step-brother, was going through his first big break up. Instead of confiding in others or taking time to understand his emotions he instead picked up a book about the stages of love. Let me also explain that my brother has never been the smartest guy and mainly gets by on his good looks and charm in his life. Anyway this book gave the usual “love requires fighting to work it shows that you care about the other” you know stuff everyone already knows. I’m guessing because it came from a book ,or because it was plainly saying what he was too naive to understand about what he was feeling, he became infatuated with every line. Anytime I would have relationship problems he would quote the self help books he had read since and recommend me ones to read. This went on for while but eventually I finished nursing school and moved out of my family’s house (which is my mother’s house, this is important for later) to start working.
Now fast forward to four years later. I’m living on my own with my the love of my life, working the night shift in the hospital like I’ve always wanted. On my way home on night I called my mom to catch up on my drive home. We started talking and eventually I asked about my step-brother. She explained that he was still living at home and had no plans on getting a job or moving out (for context my brother graduated with a master’s degree a year ago). I found that odd and asked what he is doing now. My mom explained that he just makes music and does podcasts with his friends. He apparently says he wants to be an entrepreneur. Which is fine everyone wants to make it big doing what they love doing however. My mother also explained that he constantly invites people she doesn’t know to her house to hangout and when she gets off of work she comes home to strangers that expect her to cook for them. My mother then started tearing up saying “I don’t feel like it’s my house anymore”. That’s when I got upset. I asked her why doesn’t she kick him out or at least start asking for rent so he has to get a job. She explained that she wanted to do that but my step father wouldn’t allow it. My mother and step father have a wonderful marriage and never fight, but because my stepbrother is his son he has attachment to him. My mom recently had to kick her daughter (my blood related sister) into the camper as well since my step sister (19 y.o.) lets her boyfriend stay on weekends in what used to be the girls room. My mother keeps explaining that all of these situations are putting stress on their marriage and by kicking out her daughter she feels like she betrayed her just so my stepfather’s kids can get their way in her house.
After this phone call I was livid so I called my step brother to confront him. After asking the normal “hi how are you” I asked if he has started looking for a job and he said “why would I?”. I responded “so you can work and move out”. Then he said “im in my 20s this is the time you are supposed to chase your dreams” he then pointed out that I always wanted to be a YouTuber or streamer and I should go for it. I then said you know I have a job now and I have to give that job a lot of my time in order to afford the life I live. He basically laughed and explained that there is always enough time. Not much important was said after that.
Now fast forward a few weeks later I see posts from his Instagram talking about how “social media is poison, take back your life, put down your phone, etc.” (Crazy to post that on social media btw). I have also come across his podcast which are just him and his friend who both have the combined IQ of a beheaded chicken explain that the universe is big and has like billions of stars and stuff. 0.0 his entire personality now is saying basic facts at the surface level and then acting like it’s deep as fuck. Furthermore the constant insistence on following your passion mixed with the complete ineptitude of being able to comprehend how smug and pretentious he is during any interaction has breed some real distain from anyone who can see through his act.
All of these posts about self help combined with the complete ignorance of how his actions putting a negative effect on our family has really put a barrier between us. I really don’t think I can take it anymore and I want to either try to explain that he has become a pretentious douche who only keeps around yes men who all think a fact for 5th graders they learn at the zoo makes them better than everyone else, but I honestly think he will just say I don’t understand or maybe I should read this book about stress. I’ve went over the situation with friends of mine and they all laugh when they see his posts and hear him talk now. For God sake he held his 25th birthday party recently and said for everyone to bring a book to exchange knowledge to one another and wear business casual.
I just want my mom to feel like the home she worked tirelessly as a single mother all those years to afford for our family is hers. I have always been so close to my brother and I want him back as a friend. I want my sister to be able to live in the house she was raised in instead of in a camper.
Well that’s everything as of now left out a lot of stories about him being directly wrong about facts he tells us or times he got called out and embarrassed about shit but I think I’ll just leave it here. I plan on confronting him soon I just don’t know what to say. Thank you for your time.

2024.05.15 06:33 Nodistractions_gal Medical: Urgent care experience - I felt very gaslit.

May I get outsiders perspective on this. Just seeking a space to vent & see what I did wrong.
So long story short, I am on my period. I inserted a tampon during the day. And later when removing it, I noticed only the bottom half came out.
I checked the toilet. Nothing there. You can see the way the tampon was shaped, it looked broken off. Y’all….I tried to see if I could remove anything. Nothing came out. My parents advised to seek medical help.
I went to the urgent care & arrived 45 mins before they closed for the day. Immediately, the patient care coordinator (PCC) that took my vitals, it felt standoffish. My gut felt something was off & she didn’t care about my plight. She left & soon after a Nurse practitioner & his nurse came in. He used a speculum to inspect & he said he saw nothing. He wanted to check my cervix, but I am a wimp & was in a lot of pain & yelped out. He stopped the exam, & said from what he saw, he didn’t see anything & I could seek a second opinion if I was still concerned. I thanked him & they left.
But my Mom said to call her before leaving. She is a Nurse & she said to ask for a X-Ray is possible. So I asked the PCC if I can get a X-ray to be sure, y’all SHE LIED & verbally said their facility didn’t have x-rays. She was impatient with me, huffing & visibly annoyed, I had called my mother by this point, & on the phone with my Mom, just to feel safe. I don’t trust the PCC at this point either.
I relayed what the PCC said to my mom, she said ok, go ahead & leave, I then hung up the phone, which was when the PCC, she asks if I am done & ready to go, in an aggravated rushed tone. As if I was a huge nuisance for her asking all these questions.
Later, after changing, I went back to the front to ask for the names of people that saw me. They only gave me the 1st name of the PCC. I asked the Nurse practitioner if they had x-rays, & he confirmed that yes they do! But I will not get an x-ray b/c it wasn’t appropriate & he said my mom was wrong & she doesn’t know what she’s talking about. Again he relayed this in a very condescending tone. I asked if he’ll provide a reason why it was inappropriate, he said no. I asked if he’ll document refusing this medical service for me, he said no.
At that point, it was 7 mins past their closing period. I understand they had a long day & wanted to leave. People in the office looked visibly uncomfortable. I was talking in firm, leveled tone, but the vibe made me feel like a major nuisance or annoyance. According to some reddit forums, asking to document refusal of service is considered dumb. Is this true? Did I take it too far? Over imagining things? My parents said I wasn’t and to seek a 2nd opinion to be sure. I was doing my best to advocate for myself while maintaining a calm demeanor to express my concerns.
But damn, tonight was my 1st time experience of this. What should I have done differently? Was I dumb asking those questions & taking up so much time? One thing for sure, this experience, it’s motivated me to truly think of ways to help Black patients in healthcare settings.

2024.05.15 04:51 Substantial-Bag-906 I don't have hEDS...

BECAUSE I HAVE aEDS!!!!!
I've been seeing a nurse practitioner at a rheumatologist office for almost 2 years now (I live somewhere where, while we do have specialist there are few and they are always booked up) and while she was the one who led me to EDS due to my extreme hypermobility and easy bruising, she has been hesitant to give me a diagnosis even though I DO meet enough criteria for an hEDS diagnosis. I've also understood the hesitation.
My skin hyperextesion is only present enough to qualify in some areas and not others, and I have no evidence of organ prolapse or heart valve involvement. While we haven't really gotten anywhere other than symptom management and blood tests for differential diagnosis, I've continued to go to her because 1) availability 2) some of the symptom management is effective
Well at the beginning of this year I started to go from experiencing frequent subluxations (knee and hips, but recently collarbones and wrists as well) to full on dislocations with little to no reason. As you can imagine I started to get a little tired of spending money and going to a million appointments and still not getting better, so when I saw a good new years sale on private genetic testing I decided to hop on it 🤷🏻‍♀️
TURNS OUT I ALMOST CERTAINLY HAVE aEDS. While they still need to perform a biopsy to confirm the mutations are causing a defect in the collagen function based on the location it's likely that is in fact the cause of my problems. Not only do I match the clinical criteria perfectly (though it's not that extensive) but I also have multiple concerning mutations on COL1A2 gene.
All I can say is it makes a lot of sense given my mangled feet and jelly bones, and it's really relieving to have tangible evidence to warrant further testing and diagnosis confirmation.

2024.05.15 02:04 Actual_Cycle Kind of a tricky situation-long post

Over a year ago, I went to the doctor because i had gotten out of a relationship and found out my ex had cheated on me with multiple women so i wanted to get tested. It came back i had chlamydia (which was cleared up with antibiotics and has not been an issue since) so my doctor (who was actually a nurse practitioner) had performed a pap smear. she said she found some abnormal cells but nothing physically looked wrong down there, she said it could be hpv but it could’ve also been the chlamydia which was still active during my pap. anyways , fast forward to recently , i noticed a spot on the tip of my new partner’s member . it honestly just looks like a pimple , it doesn’t look like a wart from what google has shown or what i’ve seen in other subs . i have never had warts and have also never had a for sure answer about having hpv or not so im almost positive its not hpv but it still has me freaked out . can anyone explain what genital warts look like or explain what else the spot could be ?

Understanding the Houston Healthcare Market

Key healthcare facilities in Houston

Houston is home to several key healthcare facilities that play a crucial role in the city's booming healthcare industry. Starting a Healthcare Staffing Agency

Legal and regulatory requirements

When it comes to starting a successful staffing agency in the healthcare industry in Houston, it is crucial to understand and comply with the legal and regulatory requirements. These requirements ensure that the agency operates within the boundaries set by the law and maintains the highest standards of patient care and safety. One important aspect to consider is the need for graphic design, which plays a significant role in creating visually appealing marketing materials, branding, and website design. By utilizing graphic design, staffing agencies can effectively communicate their services and attract both clients and healthcare professionals. It is essential to partner with experienced graphic designers who can create compelling visuals that represent the agency's values and professionalism. These visuals can be used in various marketing channels, including social media, print materials, and online advertisements, to establish a strong brand presence and attract the target audience. To ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, it is important to include disclaimers and follow copyright laws when using graphic design elements. By prioritizing graphic design as part of the agency's marketing strategy, a staffing agency can enhance its credibility, visibility, and overall success in the booming healthcare industry in Houston.

Recruiting and Retaining Healthcare Professionals

Effective recruitment strategies

Marketing and Branding Your Staffing Agency

Identifying target clients

Identifying target clients is a crucial step in starting a successful staffing agency in the healthcare industry. By understanding the specific needs and preferences of potential clients, entrepreneurs can tailor their services to meet those demands effectively. One key aspect of identifying target clients is managing shame as an entrepreneur. It is essential to overcome any feelings of shame or self-doubt that may arise during the process of building a staffing agency. By recognizing the value and importance of the services provided, entrepreneurs can confidently approach potential clients and showcase the benefits of partnering with their agency. Managing shame as an entrepreneur requires a strong mindset and the ability to focus on the positive impact that the staffing agency can have on the healthcare industry in Houston. Developing marketing strategies is crucial for the success of any business, and this holds true for starting a successful staffing agency in the healthcare industry in Houston. With the healthcare boom in the city, it is essential to have a well-defined marketing plan to capitalize on the opportunities available. One effective strategy is to start a beekeeping business blog, which can serve as a platform to showcase the agency's expertise and attract potential clients. By providing valuable insights and information related to staffing in the healthcare sector, the blog can establish the agency as a thought leader and build trust with the target audience. Additionally, incorporating search engine optimization techniques can help increase the blog's visibility and reach a wider audience. Overall, developing a comprehensive marketing strategy, including starting a beekeeping business blog, can greatly contribute to the success of a staffing agency in the thriving healthcare industry of Houston.

Managing Operations and Ensuring Quality

Establishing efficient operational processes

Establishing efficient operational processes is crucial for the success of a staffing agency in the healthcare industry. One important aspect to consider is choosing group homes. Group homes provide a unique opportunity for staffing agencies to connect healthcare professionals with individuals in need of specialized care. By carefully selecting group homes that align with the agency's mission and values, the agency can ensure that they are providing high-quality staff to meet the specific needs of the residents. This strategic approach not only benefits the agency by establishing strong partnerships, but also contributes to the overall improvement of healthcare services in the community.

Implementing quality control measures

Implementing quality control measures is crucial for the success of any healthcare staffing agency in Houston. By ensuring that all healthcare professionals meet the highest standards of competence and professionalism, the agency can provide exceptional services to its clients. 2024.05.14 23:18 Lydia198633 It's like remembering to breathe!

Hi everyone, I am new here and new to diagnosis 38 F. I have suspected for years that I had adhd primarily inattentive but never looked seriously into it. These past few months I've really been tortured by my symptoms while trying yet another trade school (paralegal). My grandmother passed away last month and my symptoms went absolutely crazy. I finally got a referral from my counselor to talk with a psychiatric nurse practitioner. Had my appointment today, crying my eyes out the whole time and finally got my validation! I took my first Adderall and it feels like I'm remembering to breathe! I felt such immense relief I cried again. This post is proof positive of how amazing I feel, I never post on the internet ANYWHERE. Anyway, I'm so happy to have found this subreddit and all you ladies I relate to so much! Cheers!

2024.05.14 23:13 VincentVegasiPhone13 Seeking advice and/or consolation for weird ear symptoms

TL;DR: Noise sensitivity and other weird symptoms like popping/creeking and hearing my heartbeat. Possibly fluid in ears from sinus/allergies? Can fluid, or sinuses/mold, or a virus, cause these symptoms?
Hello everyone. Apologies in advance, I just found this community and this might be long but I just want to explain my symptoms so that someone might be able to ease my mind. Just for some background this is over the course of the last 13ish days. I have tinnitus but I don’t think it’s relevant because it is anxiety induced, or at least I don’t have any hearing loss as of last year.
Around the 24th/25th I started hearing an involuntary clicking/popping noise in my left ear. This was accompanied by a small tickling/pain sensation in the left ear. I thought I had tiny amount of ear drainage at nights but thought I could be making it up. Went to urgent care on 27th and doctor said there was no fluid behind my ear. Basically said there was no problem.
After the urgent care day I started to get sensitivity to noises in my left ear. I am a musician and it was enough to have me stop singing. It’s since been not as bad, I can wear headphones again, but still notice it a little bit in my left ear. I also proceeded to get post-nasal drip, like a swallowing mucus sensation, and just feeling slightly crummy in general. Now when I swallow I get the sound of releasing pressure in my ears like when you go on a plane or change altitudes. This is also a popping noise but it’s different from the involuntary one. The involuntary one is loud and has a long duration of back and forth.
I also started hearing my heartbeat in my right ear and feeling a slight fullness feeling, but it wasn’t enough to make me confident it was fluid. Thankfully the hearing my heart beat in my right ear is not as often and the involuntary popping in my left stopped for a few days (is now back sometimes but quieter). I still get them when in certain neck positions or straining during exercises, or when I get a high moment of stress and my heart beats a little harder, but I’m just thankful it’s not as often/periodic anymore.
On the 29th I went to the nurse practitioner at the actual hospital and she thinks it may be allergies. She didn’t see any fluid either. Started Sudafed and Flonase (as per her recommendation) and I had lots of ear drainage the same day. I think it was the Sudafed because apparently Flonase takes a few days to work. As a weird detail, the drainage smelled like the Flonase… just thought it was weird and should mention it.
Went back to the nurse on the 3rd and they looked in my nose this time. Said my left nostril was so swollen that they don’t know how I was breathing out of it. I felt no resistance or congestion, I felt fine as far as that went. They prescribed me the steroid dexamethasone 0.75 mg for 7 days twice a day. At first I thought it spiked my tinnitus but it actually started to help it a lot.
Since I’ve been done the steroid, I took one Zyrtec to help my post-nasal drip, and I got a huge spike in my T back. It could be coincidence, as it hasn’t gone back down much. I’ve had headaches, face swelling, feeling of pressure in my ears, lots of ear fluid one night, maybe even a low grade fever one night but my thermometer is not trustworthy.
When I wake up my ears feel like they have this pressure but I’m pretty sure it’s not affecting my hearing. It’s so weird that I’m getting different symptoms in different ears, and how I got the popping sounds before noticing any fluid. My doctor says this could be a virus, but I’m seeing the ENT for the first time tomorrow. I’m scared they’re not going to see anything and send me off.
The only two things I can think of that caused this was that I was riding in my friends car for a long time one night that week and the car had a mildew smell. Other thing is that I rode in a separate friends loud convertible that maybe the exhaust pipe noises caused these symptoms, but I don’t know how hearing damage can cause fluid and nasal inflammation.
Another thing I think about is that my grandpa hated loud noises… but I really hope this isn’t connected. He likely never wore ear protection and always worked around boat engines and engineering docks since a kid. My grandma said she has had similar situations as me in the past where she gets ear fluid and noise sensitivity from sinuses so I’m praying that it is temporary 🙏

2024.05.14 22:54 indomie23 How to navigate a relationship with partners who are in different ages and stages of life? (22F & 30M)

TIA for reading this and your advice. I (30M) have been in a long-distance relationship with my girlfriend (22F) for almost two years. We visit each other at least once a month and have been on many trips together.
We are in different stages of life, where I have my career as a Nurse Practitioner, have grown roots in my city/community, live on my own, investing my money, looking towards marriage/kids within the next five years, etc, whereas she is now restarting her college career (she had tried working first), wanting to go into nursing, still lives with her parents, she just got her drivers license last year, etc.
Her family dynamics and realization for her need for independency has made her finally want to move out, and she plans to move to and begin college in the state I live in. We share the same ethnicity and religion. She is very supportive of me, caring, giving, patient, loves others, me and her family, and I admire her so much for that.
However, I am getting bogged down from supporting her through her family/independency issues, career pursuits, her driving journey, etc, and now facing the concern of what to do. I guess I wished I had someone who had all those check marked, but I stuck by her, as she has stuck by me through my personal issues. Maybe it is right person, wrong time, idk.
She is about to move here in 1-2 months. I know that nursing school is gonna be another challenge. I need advice on how to navigate through this, and what questions I need to ask to give me a better idea of what to do during this transition.
