During the episode, Pons tells Jain, 34, that she was so excited to play the game to win free rent for Americans that she delayed treatment of her grisly hand injury from the attack to fly from Miami to New York where Bilt Rewards is based to play the game.
As the episode begins, Pons, who has a large bandage on her hand, explains that she’s had a “really bad” past 24 hours.
Jain, impressed with her commitment to showing up for the game, asks her what happened.
“I got attacked by a pitbull — well, I didn’t, my dog was about to get attacked by a pitbull,” she says of her dog Toby.
“It came running to my dog. It grabbed my dog. The minute it grabbed it, I opened the mouth [and] put my hand in,” the Venezuelan actress says, calling the other dog “so strong.”
“The dog was going to my dog,” Pons says, shaking her head “No” and showing her bandage to the camera.
Pointing to her hand, the former Dancing with the Stars contestant explains why she jumped into action. “I’m a mom! I’m a mom!” she says.
A grisly photo of her injury popped up on screen showing the bite wound, and Pons explains that she needs stitches.
“Guys, Lele came all the way here before getting stitches to win you free rent and then she’s getting stitches tonight,” Jain says in the clip.
Pons adds that the incident “happened 15 hours ago.”
The actress is a guest appearing on Rent Free to help lucky winners for the month of May.

Hi all,
This morning on my way to work (7:45am), I noticed these two Pitbulls pulling their owners along out of the front door. These folks have just moved into our neighborhood and were clearly having difficulty controlling the dogs.
Myself and a father with a toddler were walking on the sidewalk and it was very tense - the owners were STRUGGLING to keep the dogs from lunging and jumping. At one point, one of the owners had to step in the street to avoid us because their dogs had pulled them past their front gate.
The pictures are at the corner of the park of my neighborhood. I couldn’t upload the video and photo for some reason, but as you can see from the photo, these dogs are quite large. They had attempted to enter the park and lasted maybe 30 seconds before both pits had to leave.
I’m so tired of this. No one should feel unsafe in their own neighborhood. I’ve already been bitten by a pit that was unleashed in our neighborhood and I’m still shaken up by that experience (7 months ago now).

2024.04.03 04:58 Pastatively Frustrating pitbull off leash in my neighborhood

Is there an organization in NYC working to ban pitbulls?
I live in a neighborhood in Queens, NYC. It’s a very densely populated urban neighborhood. I was walking home from the grocery store with a bag of groceries when I walked past a couple who had their massive pitbull off leash to pee.
The pitbull walked past me to pee on a nearby tree and I very calmly told the woman, “please put your dog on a leash. It’s a pitbull.” She then, predictably, said, “you wouldn’t say that if he was a smaller dog.” And I said, “all dogs are legally required to be leashed.” Then the guy gave me the speech about how “you people” criticize pitbulls but it’s the owners who don’t raise them. Small dogs are just as aggressive etc etc.
I was starting to get nervous because they were growing agitated and the dog could sense their emotions. Fortunately it seemed more concerned with peeing than anything else but I can’t help think that if the couple got in my face or threatened me the dog may have tried to protect them.
These dogs should absolutely be banned in major urban areas like New York City.

I'm totally new here and for some reason, never got invested in the whole pitbulls/anti-pitbull debate. I read many posts on this subreddit and I have the impression many here are against large dogs, period, but I may be mistaken.
But I am now very curious to see what both sides of the debate have to say. I'm opening this discussion in a pro-pitbull subreddit as well.
I am a lifelong "dog person", meaning I am heavily invested in dog sport, mainly obedience and agility. It's my passion and I spend most weekends going out for events and train with my dogs every day. I love dogs, not just as couch companions, but for the relationship one builds when actively working with them. In fact, I am just back from a huge dog show in York, PA. I saw many wonderful dogs there, including bully breeds, from a Dogo Argentino to a Presa Canario, etc. Well behaved and social, under proper, responsible handling.
I do not own a pitty, but I did consider some of those breeds. They are not all the same, but they do have a common ancestral purpose that shouldn't be ignored.
What it seems to be is that when a breed gets labeled as "challenging", "not for everyone" and "requires extensive training", it's interpreted as an invitation for people who want an intimidating dog, but who understanding nothing about them and are ill-equipped to handle them. For example, I briefly considered a Dogo Argentino, then decided against it. It's simply too much for me, even with all my years of training in dog sports. This is a dog that is bred to hunt and kill large, dangerous game. It does have it's place and purpose but not in a regular suburban household. If I owned a ranch in Montana and wanted to patrol it to protect my herd against mountain lions, then it would be a good choice. Social media is full of people flaunting Beorbels in attack mode, Cane Corsos with huge prong collars being led by a 7 years old, etc. It's just another pissing contest by macho man who want to be able to control an animal.
The same can be said of Malinois as they are raising in popularity like crazy, although they are less likely to kill. If they are too much dog to handle for me, they are likely too much dog to handle for most.
For some reason, some people seem to have a need to walk around with a living weapon capable of killing other human beings and do not understand that these animals are labeled as "not for everyone" for a reason. Most people think they are not most people. Large, macho man want to be seen around parading a 150lbs powerhouse and "have it under control", when they understand nothing of dog behavior. Those animals are tools and weapons in their eyes. I worked with draft horses and worked on a cattle farm when I was young. No one would consider "controlling" a bull. Controlling a stallion can be done, but few horse people would try, because most of them want to live.
The problem nowadays is that people don't respect dogs for the inherently predatory animals that they are. My shepherds will not hesitate to protect our family against an intruder, but they are inherently bred to protect, not attack and kill, which is why I chose them.
In the end, I chose a herding breed because although I could use some bear protection where I live (neighbor had a bear break into her coop and another had one break into her car). I don't want to live with the liability of a dog that once set on attack, will not stop until the prey stops moving. My German Shepherd and Beauceron as well as my mastiff-pyrenee mix do the protection job just fine without that instinct.
There is no final question here, just wanted to hear people's opinion on the place of the bully breeds in our modern society. I would personally hate to see them disappear along with their genetic background. My personal POV would be to advocate for automatic euthanasia after any human dog bite and a permit for uneutered/intact animal. This would allow devoted breeders the chance to continue preserving their breed and take animals off the streets that do not belong there.

Once upon a time (May 2021) in notoriously hateful Casper, Wyoming, 2 pitties were assaulted by a mean lady walking a dog past their owner's yard even though she KNEW they were there. When the brave pitties rushed forth to protect their owner and their own puppies (because of course they had puppies), the mean lady's dog got a little roughed up. Some stitches. No biggie.
Sorry, I was just caught up in the owner's explanation in various comments on NYBC's FB posts.

FB never seems willing to take down dog sale ads involving pit bulls, even when they're insanely blatant about what they're doing.

brave pitties' ginormous litter, which was being sold on FB for $250 a puppy in December 2020. So by May 2021, when the attack happened, the puppies would have been around 6 months old and around 30-40lbs. Not exactly must-protect-my-infants size.

At some point, pit bull owners will realize that when multiple dogs are involved, your fines go up because they're PER DOG. While it may please you to live in a constant state of ImmacharacterfromGOTlookitmyprotectiveflockofpitdragons!!, this will financially burn you once your flock gets up to shenanigans.
The brave pitties' owner, who was unable to transport either of her dogs to any vet for sterilization (though, to be fair, vets were running away from low-cost speuter like the Roadrunner in 2020-2022, so snagging an appointment would have been challenging), unable to keep her pitties contained, unable to do much of anything other than sell their offspring on social media - brave pittie owner was able to do one thing. Confronted with a $1300 fine for breaking multiple animal control laws, she promptly began breaking more laws. She whisked her brave pitties out of town, hooking up with New York Bully Crew to get them out of Casper's reach.

Hey, I’m from Germany and I’ll be visiting friends in New York and Florida this year. I’ll stay in the US for a bit over a month and would like to adopt a dog there and take it back home with me. I’m dog sharing an American Bully since over a year but I want to get an own dog soon. I grew up with a Pitbull, Staffy and a Rottweiler and I have lots of experience with dogs in general (did an internship at a vet office, was a volunteer at a shelter and I’m also dog sitting since 5 years).
I would love to have a bully breed dog, but unfortunately it’s kind of hard to find a dog like that in a shelter in Germany and I’d rather adopt one instead of buying a dog from a breeder. I know that there are a lot of bully breed dogs in US shelters, it’s hard for them to find a home and a lot of them get put down so I thought about adopting one while I’m there. Do you guys know of any shelterescue that would give a dog to someone from Germany?

Hello fellow Boston terrier owners, I 41m just purchased my very first Boston terrier puppy from centralparkpuppies. I live in New York and heard they make great apartment dogs. I’ve had pitbulls all my life but always loved Boston terriers and I told myself I’m definitely buying one this year. I searched shelters and could not find a Boston terrier anywhere and I’ve seen ton of reviews on Central Park puppies and god willingly hoping for the best. I suffer from a ton of health issues along with anxiety and depression and my doctor told me a dog would really help me to take my mind off of things. I’ve had dogs all my life and I absolutely love them. That being said, can you give me any advice on my first terrier puppy? What kinda food is best for them? I already bought small soft toys for her, and I’m hoping she loves to cuddle cause I spend a lot of time in bed, and yes I’m definitely going to take long walks with her. I hope my wife grows to love her because she hates dogs and I just couldn’t see myself without a dog anymore they are the greatest companions. Thanks for any advice.

I currently live with my mom who's a senior citizen as her home attendant in an apartment building on the UWS. As a neighbors guest was departing their apt, their unleashed Pitbull literally bombarded through our apt door which was slightly opened which Tommy was 3ft away from the door inside our apartment, no way the dog could've seen him but he heard Tommy meow I guess that caused him to violently bumrush inside out apt and attack Tommy. His screams of pain has tormented for the rest of my life. I filed a police report, a court case is soon to be attended but all that takes time and excruciating pain for Tommy. I've used all my savings to get Tommys major injuries taken care of, NOW the monthly much needed medicines are a financial problem for my family and I. If theres any compassionate empathetic beings reading this, anything towards Tommys medicines would truly be appreciated eternally from the bottom of our spirits. To those reading, Please pray for Tommys well being!! Blessings to all with injured pets/family members in need of assistance. Thank you for reading!!

I prefer medium to larger dogs. I have a home in the woods so ideally the dog would be ok being in a car for 6-7 hours once a month or so. 4) What breeds or types of dogs are you interested in and why? * I grew up with a German Shepherd but I'm a bit worried about being able to handle it's energy and train it properly with my limited time. I grew up with a dog that would absolutely destroy the house when left alone for any period of time. I do have some relatively nice furniture in my apartment that I would be sad to see destroyed. Hello all , I’m looking for advice on what I should do with my 5 or 6 year old malamute Rosa ( I’m not sure if she is fixed but I’ve never seen her bleed )
Around a year and ahalf ago I rescued her from being put down after my 6mo old pitbull crossed the rainbow bridge Rosa is an extremely large dog she is very friendly with other dogs that are friendly to her and friendly with children . I’ve never had any experience with large older dogs but I thought I’d take on the challenge im a (22m)
She seemed to be very interested in everything for a while she loves walks & playing she is very well trained . I got her from a Spanish family so all of her commands are in Spanish . suddenly she seemed to be very lazy. Mostly sleeping all day she didnt eat very much (her teeth are kinda bad) . So I decided to get her a friend thinking it would help her out . In July 2022 I got Aurora as a baby ready to leave the mother an all white Siberian husky and Rosa didn’t like her very much at the beginning and would snap near (rora) when she would come near Rosa’s food/toys but never actually grab onto her I halfass fixed the issue but . I’ve recently moved to Virginia and had them fostered elsewhere for 4 months before giving them over an acre to run around and do their own thing ( we previously lived in New York where she had NEVER been off leash) because Rosa will take off . Not listen and just continue to run untill she finds people . Lately she has been not so friendly toward any dog when toys/food are involved and I’m wondering what I should be doing to change this behavior.
Rosa also recently tore fur away from Under Roras eye so this issue needs to be corrected immediately

NEW YORK - During the last few weeks several people have been seriously injured by the bite of ferocious pit bull dogs that have attacked children, adults and elderly people in the Dominican Republic for no justified reason.
In view of the situation, Dominicans in the Bronx are demanding the approval of a bill submitted in April 2021 to control the presence of 11 breeds of canines considered dangerous. The initiative is authored by PLD deputy for the National District, Ana María Peña.
Last week, an eight year old boy was injured after being attacked by a pit bull dog in the Buenavista II sector in Santo Domingo Norte.
Likewise, another 13 year old child was attacked and injured in Azua by another pit bull. The dog was going to attack a child, and the young boy went to defend him and was ferociously attacked by the four-legged dog. He received 306 stitches and saved the life of "chepa".
The Quisqueyanos cite the cases of Ana María Moreno Contreras, 54, who last January 21 was on her way to a church in the La Herradura neighborhood in Santiago when a dog of this breed jumped the fence and bit her multiple times.
Last July, another animal injured Joaquín Alcántara, 54, when he was walking in front of the house where the dog is, got loose and attacked him mercilessly.
In August 2023, a 9 year old minor was attacked by another pit bull while playing in the yard of the house where he lives with his relatives in the El Mirador sector, in Moca, on the road to La Vega.
Article 6 of Congresswoman Peña's bill strictly prohibits the possession of dangerous dogs, such as the Pit Bull Terrier, Doberman, Rottweiler, American Staffordshire Terrier, American Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Bull Terrier, Bullmastiff, Dogo Argentino, Dogue de Bordeaux, Fila Brasileiro and Tosa Inu.
The scope of the following law does not apply to dogs belonging to the Armed Forces and the National Police, according to the provision.
In Miami-Dale County, Florida, among other U.S. cities, the possession of all Pit Bull related dogs is specifically prohibited.
In NYC there is no outright ban, however, in February 2010, The NYC Housing Authority (NYCHA) banned Pitbulls, Doberman Pinschers and Rottweilers from such properties.
In countries that are banned: Finland, France, Germany, Denmark, Ecuador, Spain, Guyana, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Malaysia, Malta, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Singapore, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom, Venezuela. Part of Japan, Canada, Australia, Brazil and China, among others.

He’s taking his pitbull with him and as much as I love my corgi he’s all bark No bite. I’m friends with someone who’s a trainer and willing to train the puppy to be a guard dog. I’m looking for a male. I was looking on greenfield puppies but after some research it’s seeming to be a highly unreliable website. I know I should be looking for a working line.
