Best Kept (Non-)Secret Columbus Shopping Deals
2024.02.01 15:12 0422 Best Kept (Non-)Secret Columbus Shopping Deals
I've lived in Columbus for 10 years now and I am always surprised when I make an off-handed remark about needing something, and a local will always recommend a special place that will always have a good deal!
Here are some of the ones that I've used in the past that I love and can always rely on to have excellent prices.
- Eddie Bauer Factory Warehouse Store (4599 Fisher Road, West Columbus) - I feel like warehouse outlets used to be a lot more common but with most clothing being made overseas, this seems so special! I usually buy winter gear from here, and have definitely purchased items for 25%-50% of what it the item lists as retail on the regular Eddie Bauer website.
- Capital City Auctions (Locations all around Cbus) - Mostly furniture and equipment, this one came recommended by several different friends and coworkers and I am so shocked at how good it is. Anything from brand new name brand mattresses to bouncy castles to exercise equipment, most bids start about $3 and definitely sell for way way way under retail.
- Garth's Art Auction (N Rt 23, between Worthington and City of Delaware) - This one is always a hit or miss in terms of personal preferences, but Garth's actually sells legitimate paintings, like landscapes and historical-esque portraiture or modern art if you wanted real paintings in your house rather than the screenprinted things from HomeGoods are Target. They also sell some mid-century modern pieces, but tend to lean more heavily pre-1900. You can easily get pieces sub $500, like this boat painting or still life. They have more established items for a premium too.
Are there any other places that might be off the beaten path that you'd recommend?

2023.11.17 20:27 ohmyomar80 Couch Problem
1st world problem for sure my I need advice. I bought a couch from the local Arhaus outlet back in August. The plan was to buy two of the same couches and have them parallel. Only one was available at the time so the sales associate said he would call when another arrived. A few weeks ago another couch arrived. I went to check out the couch. I thought it looked smaller but was assured - everything looks smaller in this large warehouse. I double check the SKU's to make sure the color or something wasnt different and they were the exact same.
Fast forward to today - couch is delivered and it is a different size than the other. I measured and one couch is 9 inches longer than the other. They obviously messed up one of the labels because they even agreed the receipts show the same SKU. The lady on the phone said there is not much they can do, as all sales are final, its an outlet. A manager is going to be calling me tomorrow. Do I have any options? I have spent $5k on two couches that dont match. I am not rich by any means - I had to finance them as well. I feel sick to my stomach that they wont help. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

2018.12.03 06:06 meyerovb Couch advice
Question: which companies should I consider for quality couches with warranties they follow through with? I’m checking out Macy’s, Pottery Barn, Ethan Allen, and Arhaus (a local shop recommended by a friend)
Backstory: I have a JennifeAshley couch, things a piece of crap. Got what I paid for (got it from a ‘warehouse’ that got overstock/wrong coloreturns, cash and carry). Lasted a few years but ready to move way up. Had a Macy’s couch in the past and it was rock solid. Leaning towards the Macy’s Bangor during the current 10% sale but have a 25% off pottery barn I can use towards the pearce, which a friend has in their place and I really love. Plus I can configure a Pearce with a bumper end which my wife wants.

2018.09.19 16:15 Amaturus Thoughts on living at the apartments in South Market?
I'm relocating to New Orleans for work and considering the newer apartments that are a part of the
South Market development in the Warehouse District. Does anyone have any experience living in the Beacon or the Paramount that they'd like to share? One major concern is parking, since it looks like you have to pay for the garage connected to the Arhaus. I'll have a commute so an extra 10 minutes just to get to my car every morning doesn't sound fun. Otherwise I'm interested in anyone's thoughts on the area or suggestions for other places I should be looking. I'll have the chance to visit the city next month before moving likely sometime in November. Thanks.
