Army Benefits, Programs, and Discount Tracker
2024.02.18 18:33 AggravatingReview263 Army Benefits, Programs, and Discount Tracker
Hello all,
I have been working on this tracker for some time. My goal was to cover most things the Army has to offer in terms of help for Soldiers whether it is a benefit from service, a program, or discount from something such as a group or company. I’m sure there are some things I missed when making this. If anyone has any input or things that should be added please let me know. This is meant for all Soldiers, I’m sure there are a lot of things on here that someone who has been in for a few years is aware of. Some things on this tracker are non government sources and are listed as such. If any information I have posted is wrong please let me know and I will update.

- I've gotten a majority of the cards I've been aiming for. I have the option of paying for my tuition (4200 every 3 months), rent (2400 every month), and business travel (2-3k every few months) with credit cards so chasing best SUB/travel rewards to stock up. I'm not sure what exactly I should be aiming for since my overall spend is quite low but I can hit high SUB's with the spend I listed above. I guess I'm looking to stock up on points with the idea that I'll be using them to travel with my partner when we both get some time off each year.
- Do you have any cards you've been looking at?
- I've been looking at the Amex Gold/Platinum, CFF to finish the trifecta, Citi Costco Visa, SavorOne. I do want to get the Citi Premier just so I can PC to another CCC (for groceries). I've considered downgrading my CSP to a CFF and reapplying for the CSP/CSR later this year. I've also considered the 100k CIP but that 15k spend is quite daunting (doable but daunting). Thinking of getting Southwest cards sometime this year since I fly with them a lot.
- I'm open to any/all cards and would love advice on what to apply for, what to shoot for next, and cards that should go on my radar. I appreciate all the help and advice!

2022.09.15 19:45 OooohMylanta The Galaxy's Least Awful Model : Week Five Panel!
| GLAM! Dani is just rocking out, brushing her teeth and stuff when that infernal screeching starts; she barely has time to throw her flosser away before rushing out the door to where she normally holds the GLAM panels. Which is a place that perhaps the author hasn’t really thought about much yet. What was it? A hill with a bat signal or something? Yes okay let’s stick with that for now because I haven’t had enough coffee today to come up with something better. So there Dani is on the hill probably half dressed, hair wet, but at least she has clean teeth, which is a lot more than the GLAM models can say at this point since Lisa so rudely called them all to WWBM panel before they could practice proper dental hygiene. And now they will all get cavities for the sake of a potentially world-ending modeling competition. Seems worth it! Dani calls the models up and realizes as they crest the hill that it is, in fact, Saturday (I know it is not actually Saturday, back off my grill). It is Saturday because that is thematically appropriate and this way you didn’t have to wait an extra two days to find out WTF actually happened with Coco, Lexi and Hanne… The models stand in a line in front of Dani, and even though she can smell their breath from many feet away, she stands tall, like the goddess she is. She learned how to be strong in the face of any smell when Whitney was in charge of WWBM, and she certainly won’t be deterred now… ********************* Hi ladies! I have to assume that since Lisa called a relatively normal timed panel this morning that WWBM and GLAM were pretty neck and neck - some good, some bad / some bad, some good…you know how it goes with these two competitions. The balance of energy remains pretty unchanged, insofar as I can tell, except for there is some weird disturbance to the Force that…wait hold on this isn’t Star Wars crap. Something weird definitely is going on this morning - I can see it in your faces. No - don’t tell me what happened. I can use my Megamind to figure it out. Speaking of cartoons, it’s Saturday morning! And you know what that means! Yes, it’s time for SATURDAY MORNING CARTOONS!!! Many of you are too young to know the days before streaming, but Tyra at least will know all about the joys of Saturday morning cartoons. Yes, unless you were a preschooler, you had to wait aaaaaaall week for that one special morning to binge watch cartoons and then binge eat cereals that you begged your parents to buy because they were constantly advertised during your cartoon binge watching. Except for Honey Comb, which was both gross and cut your mouth up worse than eating shards of broken glass I shit you not. I tasked you all with bringing Lisa down this week by giving us fashion interpretations of TV cartoons. Who really nailed this assignment, and whose show is getting the boot? Let’s find out!!! Karlie, please step up here. This photo is so good girl! You did well by taking a broader interpretation of the brief - you didn’t have to be a cartoon character; you just had to be inspired by a cartoon. This is GORGEOUS. The first time I saw it I just heard the word “SLAY” in my mind. My Megamind. You are turning into one consistent queen - keep it up! Jan - Jan, Jan, Jan! Everyone will want to be friends with you if you keep turning out these kinds of shots! Well, probably not, but they will definitely feel less sorry for you. Guinevere - This is such a powerful shot - the light, the fashion, the pose! Everything about it is top notch. Well done!!! You are crushing it. Caroline - Way to show Phelpsie up like such a badass. Hercules wasn’t all that - he got fooled so hard by Hades. You look INCREDIBLE. I love this. Coco - This is such a killer shot…wait - where is Coco? Girls, have you seen Coco? I want to praise her photo but she’s not here. What’s that levitating in the distance? Nevermind, let’s move on! Lulu - Ooooh I adore this creepy take on the brief. You almost look like a cartoon even without the inspiration. Fabulous! Cherish - The Little Mermaid may or may not have been my favorite movie of all time growing up, and I may or may not have had the entire thing memorized, including the French parts of the chef song. If there had been an animated series when I was a kid, I would have learned how to tell time sooner so as to never miss it. I love how your red hair matches Ariel’s. Great job! Hanne - I love this weird ass Frankenstein meets Marge Simpson situation you have going on. It’s very what is happening in a strange, 1980s messing with kids for no good reason way. Very appropriate! Lexi - This is like Spongebob meets Violet from Willy Wonka AFTER she eats the candy that turns her into a giant blueberry. In the best possible way though, because I definitely like it. Lexi did purple better. Hailey - You can pose ok while wearing shiny stuff, but is that exciting enough to make in far in GLAM? Maybe. This cycle has been super weird so far. Will Tyra and Mia please step forward? Mia - This is slightly terrifying and flirting every so slightly with being a little too far from your inspiration. I do love your big ass doe eyes, though - that is very Powerpuff Girls. Tyra - Ah, Tyra. I know some people / everyone is surprised you are still in this competition, which is maybe ironic, but also maybe only ironic in the Alanis Morisette way where irony is just something that is curious and not actually ironic. IDK I’m a model not an English teacher. This is not a bad photo, but it’s not a great photo. It might have been the best you had to offer, but you’ve got to dig deeper. I know there has to be better shots of you out there somewhere. Right? Right??? But which of you will leave this…oh no!!! The levitating thing is coming this way!!! ************************** Before Dani can announce who is eliminated, levitating Coco makes her way over to panel, not so much fashionably late as just in a drugged up stupor. Coco seems to snap to briefly in order to say: “Dani, girls, thank you all so much for this opportunity, but I realized on my time during All Stars that I can’t take Lisa for any longer than is absolutely 100% necessary to earn a paycheck and beyond that, well, I just can’t seem to lay off the drugs when I’m around her. I just can’t suffer her narcissism sober. And just like she makes me lose control of my critical weakness, I fear more than she will make me lose control of my superpower…” Before Coco can finish, Lisa crests the hill as well, having chased Coco all across the city. Lisa’s eyes fill with unmitigated anger as she sees Dani and the GLAM girls; she crouches for attack but then Coco activates her superpower, head bursting into flames, and provides the distraction Dani etc. need to escape before Lisa can unleash her wrath (probably in the form of online rants). Yes, just like this. However, because of Lisa, Coco does, in fact, lose control of her superpower, and she becomes engulfed entirely in flames. Will we ever see her again? One can only hope. But for now, she has sacrificed her spot in BOTH WWBM and GLAM so that others may continue in her place. CIP (Combust in Peace) Coco. We love you! submitted by OooohMylanta to NextTopModelPhotos [link] [comments] |
2022.08.23 20:27 Buck_i_Am 8/22/22 Hilliard City Council Meeting Summary
COMMISSION AND BOARD REPORTS
- Board of Zoning Appeals (Hale): Seeing more locking hot tub covers and automatic pool covers be approved by the board in lieu of the code-required fencing around hot tubs and pools.
- Destination Hilliard (Vermillion): Hotels report that they are doing pretty well. The board is holding off on doing activity grants until next spring.
- Environmental Sustainability (Marsh): Drew attention to the "Keep Hilliard Beautiful" group as a great way to get involved with environmental work in the community.
- Planning and Zoning (Hale): Several sign variances approved. Blank Dental Group acquired property on Cemetery Road and will improve parking lot. Grayson at Hickory Chase got approval to put in a food truck lane. PUD modification approved for ADS to build a new building near I-270. Chase bank will move from Old Hilliard to the intersection of Cemetery Road and Parkway Lane. New parking lot near COTA park-and-ride?
- Recreation and Parks (Carrier): No report
- Shade Tree Commission (Teater): Met last week
- Aging in Place Committee (Cottone): Met four weeks ago and went through an exercise using the AARP "8 Domains of Livability". Met last week and received an update about the new Community Center project.
PUBLIC COMMENT
- Steve Garrahy, 4010 Ridgewood Drive: Lives near Trueman Blvd and is concerned about the future TruePointe Development which would be built near his home. He feels that the project is very large and was approved very quickly. He is skeptical that it will be as great as city officials are making it out to be, and thinks that it is too ambitious.
- "Zip" Fiordalis, 3447 Braidwood Drive: Also concerned about the TruePointe Development and is concerned about a lack of transparency. Asked about financial incentives given to the TruePointe and Alton Darby developers. He feels that taxpayers are asked to pay for new schools, police stations, and fire stations when it should be the new developers paying for them with the millions of dollars of profits they will make.
- Audrey Quillin, 3033 Hazelton-Etna Road (Pataskala): Founder of Good Sprout Rescue and Sanctuary, a 501(c)3 that specializes in rescue and rehab of domestic farm birds (chickens). Concerned about approval of "backyard chickens ordinance" and wants to ensure that any unwanted roosters that are hatched are handled humanely since roosters are not approved with this legislation.
- Greg Maish, 3403 Leap Road: Spoke in favor of the backyard chicken ordinance. Offered counterpoints to Ms. Quillin's remarks about the ability to sex chickens and downplayed the severity of roosters being problematic.
ORDINANCES
Ordinance 22-25: AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AN AMENDED DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENT WITH EPCON CARR FARMS, LLC - Summary: This would allow the City Manager Crandall to continue working with Epcon on the housing development currently being constructed east of Leppert Road north of Davidson Road (Carr Farms).
- Background: This amended development agreement was necessary after a change was made in the number of planned residential units in this new development.
- Votes: Seven in favor (Tarazi, Vermillion, Marsh, Hale, Cottone, Carrier, Teater)
- Status: Passed 7-0
Ordinance 22-26: AMENDING THE HILLIARD CODIFIED ORDINANCES REGARDING THE ON-STREET PARKING OF COMMERCIAL VEHICLES, RECREATIONAL VEHICLES AND TRAILERS. - Summary: This would amend an existing prohibition of parking RVs on a street for more than two hours (unless loading/unloading) to include trailers.
- Background: Concerns were brought to city planner Talentino about whether a trailer fit the definition of a commercial vehicle or a recreational vehicle, and city staff found that the definitions were somewhat different. This ordinance would make it clear that trailers also cannot be kept on the street.
- Votes: Motion to adopt by Marsh, seconded by Vermillion
- Status: This was a first reading. Public comment and voting will occur during the next regular council meeting on September 12th.
Ordinance 22-27: AMENDING THE CITY’S CODIFIED ORDINANCES TO REGULATE BACKYARD CHICKENS AND REAR YARD BEEKEEPING WITHIN CERTAIN ZONES - Summary: This would permit small-scale chicken rearing and beekeeping on parcels that are at least 1/2 acre large in residential areas. Would limit number of hives/chickens based on acreage, and would require a license and inspection from Ohio Department of Agriculture. Vermillion moved to amend the ordinance to allow roosters on properties 1 acre or larger, seconded by Carrier. That motion passed 6-1 (Cottone against). Vermillion moved to amend the ordinance to allow state-licensed beekeepers to manage hives on other properties with the property owner's permission, Hale seconded. That motion passed 7-0. Tarazi moved to amend the ordinance to allow for ducks to be included in the maximum allowable birds per property, seconded by Carrier. Hale made a secondary motion to require ducks to be allowed only on properties one acre or larger, without a second. Tarazi moved to withdrawal his main motion, seconded by Teater. Tarazi moved to allow any combination of six chickens and ducks on properties one acre or larger, seconded by Hale. That motion passed 6-1 (Cottone against).
- Background: In 1980, Hilliard banned keeping bees and chickens in yards, then allowed the practice in 2014 for 3+ acre properties in "rural residential" zones. The Environmental Sustainability Commission recommends revisiting this ordinance after a year for evaluation of effectiveness. The city would consider expanding this practice (by reducing required acreage) in the future.
- Votes: Motion to adopt by Vermillion, seconded by Tarazi
- Status: This was a first reading. Public comment and voting will occur during the next regular council meeting on September 12th.
Ordinance 22-28: AUTHORIZING THE CREATION OF FUND 216, THE ONEOHIO OPIOID SETTLEMENT FUND. - Summary: This would create a fund to receive monies distributed according to the settlement and to appropriate the funds used for permissible reasons. The city may use these funds to help with the drug diversion program.
- Background: The city adopted a resolution in 2020 to work with the state of Ohio to distribute funds received from litigation against opioid pharmaceutical supply chain participants.
- Votes: Motion to adopt by Hale, seconded by Vermillion
- Status: This was a first reading. Public comment and voting will occur during the next regular council meeting on September 12th.
RESOLUTIONS
Resolution 22-R-58: APPROVING A MODIFICATION TO THE PLANNED UNIT DEVELOPMENT (PUD) FOR TRUEPOINTE (SUBAREAS 5 AND 6) - Summary: This proposal would change the permitted zoning for this property to be more "mixed-used" by allowing residential, retail, restaurant, and hotels.
- Background: This area was originally expected to be used for offices, but obviously the market has changed. The developers gave a lengthy presentation on potential amenities at the site, and mentioned that the city transportation division blessed the plans.
- Votes: Motion to adopt by Marsh, seconded by Vermillion. Six in favor (Marsh, Vermillion, Hale, Cottone, Tarazi, Teater); one against (Carrier)
- Status: Passed 6-1
Resolution 22-R-62: AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH GUIDE STUDIO, INC. REGARDING A BRANDING/REBRADING PROCESS - Summary: This would allow spending up to $70,000 for City Manager Crandall to work with Guide Studio, Inc. on a city re-branding project.
- Background: This summer, the Community Relations board explored the possibility of a city re-brand for logos and slogans. Guide Studio has worked with other cities around Ohio, and their bid came in as the most affordable option and well-under the budgeted $120,000. It has been about 10 years since the last branding effort.
- Votes: Motion to adopt by Hale, seconded by Marsh. Six in favor (Hale, Marsh, Vermillion, Tarazi, Cottone, Teater); one against (Carrier)
- Status: Passed 6-1
Resolution 22-R-63: AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO PREPARE AND SUBMIT AN ATTRIBUTABLE FUNDS APPLICATION TO THE MID-OHIO REGIONAL PLANNING COMMISSION (MORPC) TO ASSIST IN FUNDING THE CEMETERY ROAD OVER I-270 TRAIL OVERPASS AND SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS (CIP T-162) AND TO EXECUTE AGREEMENTS AS MAY BE REQUIRED. - Summary: This would allow City Manager Crandall to ask MORPC for federal funds to construct a multi-use path over I-270
- Background: The I-270 corridor has been a target for development for some time, and the lack of east-west traffic has been identified as a barrier to connectivity to the rest of central Ohio. Council passed Resolution No. 21-R-83 which authorized a feasibility study for a trail crossing of I-270 along Cemetery Road to connect the City’s existing trail network on Britton Parkway and Trueman Blvd. Four potential plans were presented to the public for comment between July 5 – August 5, 2022. The City received 411 responses to the survey. Based on the advantages and disadvantages of the four alternatives and the public comment, Alternative 2 is the Recommended Alternative to move forward in design if funding is secured. Alternative 2 proposes a shared-use path on the south side of Cemetery Road with a tunnel beneath the free-flow eastbound to southbound ramp and a pedestrian bridge over I-270. The estimated construction cost for Alternative 2 is $5.84M. Because a project of this size and scope would be very difficult to fund without outside funding resources, staff intends to explore various grant programs to assist in funding the Project.
- Votes: Motion to adopt by Carrier, seconded by Vermillion. Seven in favor (Carrier, Vermillion, Tarazi, Cottone, Hale, Marsh, Teater); none against
- Status: Passed 7-0
Resolution 22-R-64: AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO PREPARE AND SUBMIT A SAFE STREETS AND ROADS FOR ALL (SS4A) GRANT APPLICATION TO ASSIST IN FUNDING THE CEMETERY ROAD OVER I-270 TRAIL OVERPASS AND SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS (CIP T-162) AND TO EXECUTE AGREEMENTS AS MAY BE REQUIRED. - Summary: This would allow City Manager Crandall to submit information necessary for the federal funds application outlined in Resolution 22-R-63
- Background: Please see the background for Resolution 22-R-63
- Votes: Motion to adopt by Carrier, seconded by Marsh. Seven in favor (Carrier, Marsh, Vermillion, Tarazi, Cottone, Hale, Teater); none against
- Status: Passed 7-0
Resolution 22-R-65: AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A PROFESSIONAL SERVICE AGREEMENT (PSA) WITH CESO, INC. TO PROVIDE GENERAL ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR THE CITY’S PEDESTRIAN/BICYCLE MOBILITY AND SAFETY PROGRAM (CIP T-133) AND AUTHORIZING AN EXPENDITURE. - Summary: This would allow spending $150,000 and allow City Manager Crandall to work with CESO for consulting and technical expertise to improve the City's Pedestrian and Bicycle Mobility & Safety Program
- Background: The city is seeking consultation and engineering services for three projects: (1) Leap Road (south of Cemetery) sidewalk and drainage improvements, (2) Wayne Street sidewalk connection (between Madison and Franklin), and (3) Schirtzing Road (south of Davidson) sidewalk extension.
- Votes: Motion to adopt by Tarazi, seconded by Cottone. Seven in favor (Tarazi, Cottone, Carrier, Hale, Marsh, Vermillion, Teater); none against
- Status: Passed 7-0
Resolution 22-R-66: AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO MODIFY AN EXISTING PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT (PSA) WITH KIMLEY HORN & ASSOCIATES, INC. TO PROVIDE GENERAL ENGINEERING SERVICES AND AUTHORIZING AN EXPENDITURE. - Summary: This would allow spending $49,500 and allow City Manager Crandall to continue working with Kimley-Horn for consulting and technical expertise supporting roundabout projects
- Background: The city is seeking consultation and engineering services for two future roundabouts: (1) Roberts road & Alton Darby Creek road, and (2) Cosgray road & Scioto Darby road
- Votes: Motion to adopt by Cottone, seconded by Vermillion. Seven in favor (Cottone, Vermillion, Teater, Tarazi, Carrier, Hale, Marsh); none against
- Status: Passed 7-0
Resolution 22-R-67: AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT WITH DECKER CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR THE 2022 CURB RAMP REPLACEMENT PROJECT AS PART OF THE SIDEWALK MAINTENANCE PROGRAM (CIP T-160) AND AUTHORIZING AN EXPENDITURE. - Summary: This would allow spending about $240,000 and allow City Manager Crandall to work with Decker Construction to construct ADA-compliant curbs throughout the city
- Background: City staff identified 85 curb ramps that need to be replaced or repaired to meet ADA requirements. Decker came in as the lowest bidder.
- Votes: Motion to adopt by Cottone, seconded by Hale. Seven in favor (Cottone, Hale, Tarazi, Teater, Carrier, Vermillion, Marsh); none against
- Status: Passed 7-0
Resolution 22-R-68: A RESOLUTION INDICATING WHAT SERVICES THE CITY OF HILLIARD WILL PROVIDE TO THE 20.187± ACRES LOCATED IN NORWICH TOWNSHIP, FRANKLIN COUNTY, OHIO, UPON ANNEXATION TO THE CITY, AND TO PROVIDE FOR BUFFER REQUIREMENTS - Summary: This would provide the full range of municipal services to the property at 4701 Leppert Road in the event that the property is annexed into the City of Hilliard.
- Background: An application for annexation was filed on behalf of Glenmont, a Christian Science nursing facility, which currently operates at 4599 Avery Road. It is staff’s understanding that Glenmont wishes to relocate their existing facility to the site on Leppert Road (located east of Bo Jackson and northeast of the new Amazon Datacenter site). This type of resolution is required by the Ohio Revised Code.
- Votes: Motion to adopt by Marsh, seconded by Teater. Six in favor (Marsh, Teater, Tarazi, Carrier, Hale, Vermillion); one against (Cottone)
- Status: Passed 6-1
OTHER NOTES AND COMMENTS
- David Ball spoke about performing a resident satisfaction survey in September through a company called Polco.
- John Talentino spoke about an automotive repair facility on Scioto Darby road that was required to make some sort of improvements that were conditional on the zoning in that area. The city is moving to "enforcement action".
- Council President Teater mentioned that Sunshine Law trainings were coming due. He moved to have Council Clerk Diane "Dee" Werbrich serve as designee, seconded by Hale. Passed by voice vote.
- Councilman Carrier spoke about issues with right-of-way when construction companies are performing work, noting problems with the messiness of operations for people in the surrounding areas of the construction. He asked about what council could do to enforce standards of professionalism for these projects. Assistant City Manager confirmed that they have received similar complaints and will be looking changing the right-of-way permitting process.
- Councilman Carrier noted that Council President Teater invited him to a meeting last week with Norwich Township Fire Chief Baird that involved talking about some "alarming" care issues at senior centers. The Ashford at Sturbridge came up, and Carrier noted that a vote passed to stop the abatement at that facility. The fire department and EMS are apparently making serval runs to these facilities and have noted that senior centers are understaffed, which is causing a drop in the standard of care. Asked whether Council has "home rule" ability to make their standards even more strict than the State's. It was mentioned that a potential investigatory committee could exist with Councilwoman Cottone's Aging in Place Committee.
- Motion to adjourn by Tarazi, seconded by Cottone. Motion passed by voice vote.
- The next regular City Council meeting will take place on September 12th.

Low-cost Invisalign dentist Meadowdale (

Your Invisalign provider may suggest using Invisalign, clear aligners for teeth Meadowdale (
https://robinson-dental.com/) attachments, or buttons as part of your treatment procedure, where small dots of dental bonding material are attached to specific teeth. They’re not a must-have for every patient, but they can be particularly useful if you have gaps in between your front teeth or other challenges that require extra help.
What are attachments?
Invisalign, clear braces Meadowdale (
https://robinson-dental.com/) attachments are small pieces of dental bonding material that are attached to the surface of certain teeth. They can help by:
- Providing an anchor point so that the clear aligners for teeth can better grip and move teeth — especially those that are hard to move through regular alignment alone.
- Increasing friction so that aligners don’t slip off easily when you wear them.
- Increasing tooth contact — especially on those tricky teeth that would otherwise be harder to shift into position during the course of your treatment.

If you're considering Invisalign, don't fight the use of Invisalign attachments. They can help you achieve a beautiful smile without resorting to invasive procedures or fillings for your specific concerns—and that's well worth considering. When your last orthodontic appointment comes to an end, Dr. Robinson will instruct you regarding the proper placement and removal of your Invisalign detachable aligners. And while most patients place and remove their own aligners as directed, it’s still important that you seek out the services of a certified Invisalign practitioner (CIP) if you run into any problems or complications. After all, it’s always better to face these issues sooner rather than later!
For an Invisalign consultation, talk to the low-cost Invisalign dentist (https://robinson-dental.com/)in Meadowdale (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meadowdale,_Washington), Dr. Brent Robinson. He has been providing Invisalign treatments to patients in Meadowdale for over 10 years and has seen great results with the treatment. He will take the time to listen to your needs and discuss all of your treatment options so that you can make an informed decision about your smile. The good news is that they’re nearly invisible once they’re applied to your teeth. The best part? They’re completely painless! Many patients find that the attachments actually help keep their teeth straight and make movements feel more comfortable. Expect Some (Temporary) Discomfort.
Your teeth will feel a little tender when you start wearing a new set of aligners—but don’t worry! This is completely normal and generally only lasts for a few days after you start each new stage of treatment. After the first week or so of wearing the aligners at this stage, your discomfort will gradually subside and you won’t feel anything at all.

2021.06.07 13:13 Lybychick Chronic Idiopathic Pancreatitis and mouth sores during flare
TLDR: made dumb choices and had a few days of a bad ride. Now I’ve got unexplained sores in my mouth. Can anyone relate?
Last week thanks to holiday traveling, I made a terrific gastronomic misjudgment and threw myself into a flare that did not quite go acute.
I stopped at Popeyes Chicken and grabbed a spicy two piece and some popcorn shrimp. I’d had little to eat all day and was hungry and too confident because I’ve been doing well lately. I was driving and my Creon was in the backseat. A series of bad decisions on my part!
3am finds me on the bathroom floor heaving what felt like pure hot sauce. My temp shot up to around 100 and the familiar continual kick in the upper left quadrant started its march. Of course the stuff coming up and out was followed by the stuff going down and out. I called in sick and went to the couch.
I wrestled with pain, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and generally feeling like I was hit by a truck for three days and went straight to liquids only and lots of water to keep from dehydrating.
By day 4 I was beginning to feel human and it was the weekend. I switched to a BRAT diet and piddled around the house feeling fortunate that I stayed out of the ER.
Yesterday, day 6, I noticed pain and discomfort in my mouth. My throat was a bit sore but that passed. I had a spot in my lower gums under my tongue that felt like it was being irritated by a popcorn hull, but I haven’t eaten popcorn lately and thorough brushing and swishing dislodged nothing. That spot is sore now. The right side of my tongue feels very swollen and sore and there is a visible discolored spot on the other side (it’s very difficult to inspect ones own tongue in a mirror).
I brush daily, don’t drink alcohol, don’t smoke cigarettes, limit sodas, and generally have good dental health.
The sore spot on my tongue doesn’t look like any canker sore I’ve ever had. I tried a swish and spit oral cleanser for mouth issues and it just made lots of places in my mouth hurt.
Has anyone else experienced mouth sores after a flare or acute phase?
I’m adding yogurt today to see if that improves the biome in my mouth that might have been altered by the vomiting.
I know it’s too late to undo what’s been done this time; I’m just wonder if this is part of further progression with CIP and something new to look forward to when my cranky panky and I disagree.
All the online lit I found was on mouth sores caused by chemotherapy for pancreatic cancer. Got me grateful but did not reduce my fears.

2020.07.29 13:19 paramedical-academy ABOUT PARAMEDICAL COURSES IN DELHI
| https://preview.redd.it/quxz21926sd51.jpg?width=1390&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1d610d6f0ae7e4af1b008b490f0203f86ae4cfb5 If you have decided on a career in paramedical sciences, then choosing an ideal specialization or course is the next big step. Here’s a quick fact-check on various paramedical courses available for students... The Corona pandemic has highlighted the importance of paramedics and healthcare professionals. Paramedics are allied health professional who form the first line of contact with patients. Emergency personnel, ambulance service staff, Diagnostic technicians, radiologists, dialysis technicians, cardio vascular technicians, MRI & CT scan technicians, Ophthalmic assistant, speech professionals, physiotherapists, audiologists are all paramedic personnel. With healthcare becoming technology oriented, treatments and diagnosis are now done using sophisticated machines and procedures. These tests require precision and zero error expertise, and to cater this demand, numerous institutes are now offering various paramedical courses. These are few factors which one can delve on before deciding on a particular stream or course What are the available paramedical options? After completing Class 12th, one can choose a stream in Ophthalmic Technology, Medical Lab Technology, Allied Health Sciences, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Anesthesia, Dental Hygiene, Medical Imaging Technology, X-Ray Technology, Speech Therapy, Sports Medicine, Audiologist Technology to name a few. Here’s a short brief on these. Ophthalmic Technology- it is the science of testing eyesight. Training is given to determine if the eyes are having sight issues, figuring out the number for optical glasses etc. Medical Lab Technology – it’s the science of lab diagnostics. Students are trained to collect samples, test specimens of blood, urine, faeces, skin etc. for specific diseases and give accurate and correct readings and reports. Physiotherapy- the science with deals with treatment of ligaments, muscles due to nervous or brain and injuries. Students are trained to help patients with various exercises and treatments that lead to pain management. Occupational Therapy – this science is a cross between physiotherapy and psychology. Students are trained to help patients with injuries, trauma, limb replacements. Anesthesia – this science deals with assistance to doctors for providing anesthesia or medicine for numbness of whole body or any particular body part, during medical procedures. Dental Hygiene – science related to teeth disorders and diseases, Students are trained to assist dentists and dental surgeons. Medical Imaging Technology- this is science of using magnetic waves for determining the problem in any particular part of the body. CT Scans, MRIs are all part of this technology where technicians operate highly sophisticated machines to generate accurate visuals of body organs, veins and nerves. X-Ray Technology – science of using radio waves to understand damage or diseases of bones Speech Therapy- science that deals with helping patients with speech or clarity of speech. While few have birth defects others develop speech hampering due to some specific medical condition. Sports Medicine- science that deals exclusively with injuries and support services to people engaged in sports Audiologist Technology- science that deals with hearing defects and deafness. What’s the syllabus of a particular course? It makes sense to check the subjects, topics that are covered under a particular course. Many times, students assume something while the actual course curriculum turns out to be totally different leading to major adjustment issues. Such a check helps one understand your interest level, difficulty of the topic and one’s own assessment of their capabilities. However, it is always advisable to follow one’s passion if they wish to keep themselves happy while pursuing a career in the field of their choice. Therefore, before choosing a paramedical specialization, you must ask yourself whether a career in the respective field would keep you interested in the long-run. What are the career prospects? One should analyze on where can one gain employment after completing a particular course and what are the chances of career advancement. For example, a stream which is highly saturated and attracts many students would also have stiff job competition. Another instance can be that a course might be very difficult or costly but could be having lucrative career prospects. One can also check on the placement trends of various industry verticals as well of the college that you are seeking admission for. Cradle Institute of Paramedical Sciences (CIPS) It is one of the best paramedical institute in Delhi, that offers excellent training and guidance to students. The institute began operations in 2006 and in these 13 years has established a name for itself. The institute has world class infrastructure, hi-tech labs, libraries, an experienced faculty and industry experts as guest lectures. The institute offers diploma courses after class 10 and class 12, which are approved by Indian Medical association and the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of NCT of Delhi. CIPS trains students in latest technologies and gives emphasis on practical and on-site training apart from theoretical knowledge. The institute uses audio-visual aids and believes in nurturing the overall personality of students apart from giving them a vocational degree. Students are trained in soft skills, grooming and communication skills to hold their forte. If you are looking for a bright career in paramedical sciences then do follow your instincts and identify your strengths and weaknesses to choose the specialization or course that fits you the best. Before deciding on the college, do reach out to have a look at CIPS, one of the best Paramedical institute in Delhi. 2020.04.25 16:25 HonestBat Finally on a health policy hunt (steps included). Shortlisted one, advice needed.
Hi all,
A regular reader on this sub here finally makes his first post. This post might be helpful for anyone who wants to buy a health policy but doesn't know where to start. This is my attempt to help anyone get started.
I'm in my early twenties, started working two years back. I'm covered with a Group Health Policy of 3L from my employer already, which includes my parents as well. Thanks to all the discussions on this forum already, I learned I should also have a separate HP apart from my employer.
I started looking about two days back (better late than never), first by going through all the posts on
IndiaInvestments and
india, which had any kind of discussions regarding the subject. Owing to which, I learned about the crucial points to look for while looking for a policy (I'll list the steps below based upon which I decided my final contender).
- There were some very informative articles on this sub that you must go through before starting on your hunt. The most important criteria that you must look for are:
- 0% Co-pay ( you won't be paying anything in your claim and all the eligible expenses would be borne by the insurer )
- No room rent limit (detailed related article here), avoided single private standard A/C too (article)
- No maternity cover, dental/vision cover. It can be handled by yourself.
- Least waiting period for pre-existing disease (for parents). Waiting period weightage could be less for you if you're young and looking for yourself.
- I used coverfox.com (I personally loved this platform), policybazaar.com, and insurancedekho.com to compare and shortlist policies. Coverfox doesn't have updated network hospitals in my hometown for each policy, so-referred individual companies for the same.
- I also referred MSMR (Mint SecureNow Mediclaim Ratings) on Livemint which rates different HPs from different companies based upon some criteria they've mentioned in detail. MSMR (2019) edition MSMR (2018) edition
- For past data of the insurers for CSR (Claims Settlement Ratio), Claims Settlement Efficiency Ratio, etc I referred a MoneyControl article here.
- Then after steps 1, 2, 3, and 4. I looked at the different network hospitals in my hometown. The hospitals that I looked for were the prominent ones in my hometown.
- Then I went through each shortlisted policy's detailed brochure directly from their website.
My dad (55 years) has mild hypertension (controls it by taking pills)Mom (48 years) has thyroid and slip-disc
Since we're already covered with 3L health insurance, thinking of starting with a health cover of 5L and maybe increasing the premium later on either in GHP or this one (also they're residing in a tier-2 city). I also have a younger brother of 19 years, who'll be operated for hernia this year probably. I read that premium in a family floater plan depends upon the maximum age of the insured and that this operation can't be claimed if we get a policy now, made sense to get him a different HP altogether, maybe a student one if it exists. Also, opting for a policy with OPD cover also didn't make any sense, taking into consideration the value for money and the fact that my dad gets free consultations in railway hospitals (officer in Indian Railways).
After taking all of these things into consideration and 2 sleepless nights (pats on the back), I selected
HDFC Ergo my:health Suraksha Insurance - Silver Smart Plan.
Policy brochure Here are it's salient features:
- Copay : 0%
- Room rent: No limit on room rent (preferred with a higher premium on no limit rather than going with single standard A/C for peace of mind)
- Waiting period: 3 years
- Restore benefit
- Free Health Check-up every year
- Renewal Bonus: 10.0%
- Pre/Post-hospitalisation Cover
- In-house Ayurveda/Homeopathy: up to 5L
Annual premium (including taxes) checked on the
HDFC website (tier-2 city): Rs.
23709 Annual premium next year onwards (got from Coverfox): Rs.
27666 I haven't made the final payments yet, will go through the documents again, talk to their customer care to cross-check if I missed out on anything, and take this
subs' valuable opinion. Please let me know about your thoughts, willing to hear from you guys!
P.S. A couple of reasons I didn't go with some insurers:
- Star Comprehensive: Extra things which I didn't require and more waiting period, also a limit on room rent to single standard A/C
- Max Bupa: Unavailability of prominent network hospitals
- ICICI Lombard: Higher premium and less number of network hospitals as compared to HDFC
- Royal Sundaram: Unable to find network hospitals in my hometown, left out of frustration
- Bajaj Allianz Health Ensure: No room rent limit with maternity (no need) - only in the Gold plan
- ManipalCigna Health Insurance: Didn't check in detail, it said about a limit on a room to single standard A/C
After this is sorted, need to figure out health as well as term insurance for myself as well. xD

US Army Global Civil-Military Emergency Preparedness (AGCMEP) program
The AGCMEP Program is a US Army initiative that fosters an interagency approach to enhance Partner Nation (PN) disaster preparedness that facilitates long-term recovery, enables governmental self-sufficiency and encourages regional cooperation. Its mission is to assist Combatant Commands, Service Components, and Country Teams in assessing PN disaster preparedness; support development of disaster management plans and facilitate implementation of Interagency events consistent with USG strategies and to encourage PN and Regional resilience to disasters. The AGCMEP Program provides sustainable USG engagements to increase PN and regional capabilities to plan for and respond to disasters without relying on massive and costly international civil-military deployments. To that end, it establishes rigorous assessment and evaluation processes to ensure stakeholder accountability. The AGCMEP Program places an emphasis on disaster preparedness rather than disaster response and expects to garner significant efficiencies within the Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR) mission area in a resource constrained climate. Increased national and regional resilience to the effects of disasters minimizes the requirement for intrusive civil-military interventions.

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) (PAID INTERNSHIP)
APPLICATIONS FOR THIS INTERNSHIP ARE HANDLED DIRECTLY THROUGH LLNL POC MR BARRY GOLDMAN. DO NOT SUBMIT ANY APPLICATIONS TO CADET COMMAND
"LLNL is a Defense and National Security Lab. Through the Defense Program, LLNL supports the DoD as a preeminent innovative S&T contributor to its national security mission. LLNL's mission includes bio-security, counterterrorism, defense, energy, intelligence, nonproliferation, science & technology and the weapons & complex integration. This coming summer, I hope to host at least 10 Army ROTC Cadets.
Salary will range from the students major and years of schooling. As example, someone starting their junior year in the fall would earn $21/hr if an engineering or computer science major. All other majors, $17/hr. Occasionally, I can also place social science majors.
An internship is 8 hrs/day and 5 days/wk. LLNL hosts 400+ upper level undergrads and graduate students. So the ROTC Intern program is a small program in relation to all the other students we bring to LLNL. There are optional lectures and tours and networking throughout the summer and there will be a required ROTC lecture series. During these lectures, cadets will be required to be in uniform but the rest of their stay, we are a civilian facility. As such, civilian attire is OK the rest of the time.
