Context. I live in my bfs apartment. Its an upstairs/downstairs duplex. We live upstairs. And this isn't a normal apartment this is a house that some guy bough and renovated to be 2 apartments and rents it out on fb marketplace. He does long term rentals so my bf has had his apartment upstairs for 7 years and ive lived here with him for 2. The way you get into our apartment is you enter through the side door and theres an area everyone has access to and you can go down a short flight of stairs to get to the basement where the washers and dryers are (we own our own set ourselves and the other set is technically communal but that's gross) if you go upstairs you hit another landing with the neighbors back door and bathroom door and another starcase that leads to our front door. And since this is a renovated regular house a lot of the rooms dont make a lot of sense. The downstairs apartment doesn't have its own bathroom technically. The bathroom entrance is in the stairwell. So they have to completely leave their apartment and go into the shared stairwell to shower or use the toilet. So the downstairs neighbors use the stairwell as much as us despite them having their own front door at the front of the house.
Our landlord kinda sucks. He doesn't really upkeep the property unless someone complains. I dont have his number cuz technically im not on the lease and my bf doesn't want to bother him with trivial stuff cuz technically he could kick us out if he wanted to. My bfs lease says no pets and any people that move in must be added. The landord knows im here, ive met him several times. And he knows i have a cat. He raised our rent by $25 a month because of my cat but he never said anything about us not being allowed to have him. And I'm pretty sure its because I've personally done pretty much all of the upkeep inside the house. Im an extremely clean person. A clean freak if you will. And messes and shit make me anxious af. When i moved in we had different downstairs neighbors and they used the stairwell as kinda storage. Mountains of boxes and shoes and toys and shit stacked along the walls. It drove me nuts. But i couldn't do anything about it. When they finally moved out i completely cleaned and decorated the stairwell. Used my own supplies and bought the decorations myself. Spent hours scrubbing the walls and floors and cleaning out the window frames and shit. The decorations arent much, just a couple fake houseplants, but i figured with some decorations in the stairwell whoever moved in next might be detered from using it as storage. All in all cleaning and decorating the stairwell cost me about $150ish and a couple hours of labor. I didnt mind it at all though because now it doesn't make me anxious af when i walk into the building. And the landlord loved it and thanked me and his wife thanked me.
In the year, maybe year and a half, since the first neighbors moved weve gone through like 3 or 4 people downstairs. We hated most of them because they were loud af at all hours. One used to blast music at like 2am. There was one we really liked at first. A couple the same age as us who were pretty cool. And we hoped they would last a while but after the first week they started fighting constantly. Screaming at each other in the middle of the night and shit. They didn't even last the whole first month before they broke up and the guy left. And the chick had to leave cuz she couldn't afford the apartment solo. That's when we got our current neighbors. We've never spoken to each other and im not even sure who actually lives there cuz there's always people coming and going and I've never consistently seen any one person there. They kinda creeped me out when they first moved in cuz they had their back door open (the door that leads into the stairwell) and i was in the stairwell to go outside and smoke but got distracted on my phone for a second and one of the guys stood in the doorway and staired at me with a weird look on his face till i left. But after that i never saw him again so i dont think he actually lives there. They're pretty quiet so we didnt mind them at first. But then they started leaving their trash in the stairwell. And ig they don't have an actual trashcan for their bathroom or bedroom cuz it would be like fast food bags filled with used toilet paper and shit like that. And they would leave the trash there for days until i would take it to the trashcan outside. And i got sick of that pretty quick and tried a couple times to knock to talk to them but noone would answer so i left them a note that wasn't mean or bitchy or anything i basically just said the stairwell is communal and ive been taking their trash outside for them but they need to start taking their trash outside. And they did. But they would leave in on the ground literally next to the trashcan instead of inside it. And the wind would blow their trash all over the back yard (the back yard is our yard and the front yard is their yard) so id still be cleaning up their trash constantly. But i never had to bring it up to the landlord cuz i was outside one day when he was at the next door house (which he also owns and is split into 2 apartments the same way as ours) and he asked me if it was us leaving our trash on the ground cuz he was sick of having to clean up trash before he could mow and i told him no its the downstairs people and that they do it a lot and were leaving it inside but i was sick of cleaning up after them too. Ig he said something to them cuz they started putting their trash somewhere else. Idk where though cuz we only have 1 outside trashcan and I've never seen them use it. But problem solved right? Wrong. Im pretty sure they've been just piling their trash up in their house cuz not to long after that i saw a roach in the stairwell. I lost my shit and killed it and my bf saw it and said it wasnt a roach and convinced me i was being dramatic. Then i saw one in our apartment. And i caught it under a cup to show him and he finally believed me. So we had to sink a bunch of money into buying shit to prevent more from coming into our apartment. Caulk for cracks in the walls, outlet covers, drain covers, door sleeves. That kinda shit. It was one and done though so he didnt want to bother the landlord with it. And it's been months and i havnt seen anything else, even in the stairwell, so i think the landlord found out anyway and said something or they just decided to do something themselves.
Now they've lived here a while and have gotten comfortable. I had to buy an air freshener for the stairwell because they go and take giant disgusting shits and turn the stairwell into a gas chamber. And they've started using the stairwell to knock dirt off their carpets and shit and they just leave the dirt on the ground. So im constantly having to sweep it up myself. And my bf keeps blaming me for the stairwell smelling like cigarettes because he knows i smoke but i go outside and close the door so ik its not me and i was confused for a while how it could be me until i caught the neighbors one night smoking in their kitchen with the door to the stairwell open so all the cigarette smoke drifted into the stairwell. I've started leaving the windows open in the stairwell to clear out the smoke. But its cold at night still and the neighbors keep going and aggressively closing the windows cuz its to cold ig.
And none of this is my responsibility. I shouldn't have to constantly be cleaning up after them. It's not my house. The stairwell is communal the landlord should be cleaning it but he doesn't and since i dont want to constantly have to look at messes and shit i end up having to do it and im so fucking sick of it.

Back in the early 1970s (during the UFO Wave of 74), two of my brothers were living at home while in college. Where heavy into UFO investigation with MUFON and legendary NICAP UFO investigation organizations. My brothers got tired of being there after the fact and taking down pages of interviews and scientific dates on any trace evidence. So they got it into their heads to put their extensive knowledge of amateur radio, electronics, astronomy, and UFOs to good use. They mapped out “sighting hotspots” and then went out to those locations to camp out. When they spotted anything interesting, they attempted to make contact. It ultimately worked, and their new ‘little friends in those saucers’ tracked them back to our typical family home in the suburbs. The airspace above our home became a weekly UFO-sighting hot spot. So much so that it caught the interest of unmarked military surveillance and later the authentic men in black. Meanwhile, in the wee hours of the night or morning, we would have ‘Visitors’
I was involved in two of those visits as a six- and later eight-year-old. I woke up in the 2 a.m. to 3 a.m. hour twice. To find an intense blue light shining in from all windows of the house and in the shadows, it is within the house. The shadows moved with small figures not of this earth. I ran into my parents bedroom in panic and grabbed my father’s foot to shake him awake. Only to find his entire body move or slide across the surface of the mattress, as weightless as a balloon. I tried again! Again, the same response. I ran around the bed to my mother to shake her awake. She was lying on her side, her face facing me. Her eyes were completely open, and tears were streaming down her cheek. And she was just as weightless and frozen stiff as my father! I ran out of the room now, in panic, into my brother's bedroom. Both of them are the same, this time facing up stiff as boards in their twin beds. And finally, into my sister's room (she was four years older than me). My sister's eyes were open, and she was frozen stiff in bed, face up and in a screeching.
Panic and now in hysterics I backed out into the hallway. Weeping and hyperventilating. Because over my shoulder down the hall and into the living room, some twenty feet away. The shadows were coming at me from every corner. I ran back into my parents bedroom, grabbing their feet at the foot of the bed, screaming, Momma! Poppa!! Momma!! Poppa!!! In the panic, I made a last attempt to get some help. In my mind, screaming, my conscience told me over and over again, “They are all dead!”
That is when I felt two small hands come across the top of my shoulders from behind. Four fingers each dug into my shoulders. By the grip, they had a delicate female feel to them. But extremely elongated. And I heard a female voice, gentle as an angel, say. “They are alright, Little One.” The instant I heard that voice, I went limp; the hysterics, the panic, and the shear horror of the moment vanquished and disappeared as if they never existed. Even though facing forward, I watched as my parents weightless bodies float back and forth on top of their sheet-less bed, subsiding from my shaking them moments before. I was now just a silent observer, as if I were watching the scene unfold from above. My body is limp in the grip of this unseen being. Limp without any free will or even the ability to move.
She continued, “They are only sleeping. All is fine. You shouldn’t be up to see this.” I was escorted across the room. (We had a 3-bedroom, 1-story typical suburbian ranch.) Being the youngest, I was forced to have a corner of my parents bedroom. The room was divided by a fold-out wooden partition, though this night it was down. It escorted me across the room from behind, guiding me and pushing me forward towards my bed. Repeating the above line. Finally escorted to my bed, I was turned around and sat down on the edge of my bed. Until I faced it face-to-face.
As to what I saw before me, It’s on the cover of Whitney Stribers ‘Communion.’
She reiterated the above a third time, adding. “Now back to sleep with you,” I smiled at her and obeyed completely under her’s control. I swung my feet up into bed. Still sitting up, I turned to her one last time. Smiled again. And when I turned around in bed, Looking down. I saw something I cannot explain. which will sound unbelievable to any reader reading this. Including you.
I saw my body still in bed! And I laid down back into it!
And I went back to sleep. The next morning, I woke up at noon. My mother is shaking me awake. Since I had never slept so long before and had missed my Saturday morning ritual of cartoon watching, I woke up before everyone else, and my snackes set out for the whole Saturday morning cartoon watching ritual. It was noon. And my mom was a bit panicked at my not waking up. But finally, she releaved.
I did try to tell my parents what had happened. But parents, being parents, are confronted with such a story. “It was just a dream.”
My brothers, though, turned pale as sheets. They have had similar events, which I learned about much later.
Again, this was 1974. Before the UFO phenomenon became a subject of popular media and public consciousness, The UFO subject was still rather underground.
I did have a second encounter with “The Night Visitors,” as we call them. I again awoke in the middle of a possible abduction of my entire family. She was again there! But this time, it was rather peaceful. It was playful and surprising in that I was surprised here again. And I got a very distinct sense of amusement from her. And she kindly ordered me to go back to bed on my own this time. And I did it without question or putting up a fight.
Of course, my mother was across the room, her eyes open, her face frozen in panic, and a silent, frozen scream was across her face.
Those are but two of the dozens of UFO-related encounters my family had throughout the 1970s. Two of four things that personally happened to me! The two others did not involve a face-to-face encounter.
Those two events. Those two fully conscious memories and body-feel memories altered my entire life. In the late 1980s, I entered college myself. Cultural Anthropology Degree: I also joined MUFON as an investigator and several other formal academic-based organizations into the Paranormal, which I will not name here, and for the sake of their tenure and academic reputations, I wouldn’t like to be named. All in the hopes of finding answers. Personal answers and truths as to what my entire family and I experienced. In the decades since the on-and-off investigation, I have come in contact with and interviewed true ex-military intelligence operators, people in the know, and even former Apollo astronauts. Which btw will talk. Only if their stories will never come to light to the larger public. People will be people, even if NDAs are involved. Humans are, after all, notorious gossips. Over a backyard BBQ or sharing a few beers over a mutually enjoyed big game. They will tell you everything when they absolutely trust you as a friend.
I can tell you this. David Jacobs is not entirely alarmist in his hypothesis!
Nor is Richard Dolan’s and Dr.Steve Greers argument for purely benevolent visitors entirely true!
As benevolent as that female voice and being were to me,.
I will forever see the silent, tearful, frozen scream of my mother and my sister’s faces over that visitor's shoulder!
We must keep an open mind when it comes to this phenomenon and examine all possibilities!
After all, we are dealing with something totally alien and totally foreign!

2024.05.19 17:33 OGtree90 Players had a handout from King Grol and LOST it in between sessions, made for a funny role play opportunity.
So basically my players conceived King Grol they would help him rebuild cragmaw castle if they stopped doing the dirty deeds for the black spider and became civil words Phandalin. He was reluctant at first but then agreed. He gave the players note incase they came across other bugbears of his clan while in WEC still in spiders service, the planters would have proof and could convince bugbears to leave or help players against spider.
I gave them an actual handout. A printed, crumbled and burnt paper with Grol’s writing on it. I hand out actual items like this often and players keep them in between sessions.
Deep into WEC and they have explored a little and cause some ruckus. But by the time the get to the north barrack with the bugbears barricaded from the flameskull, they sit outside the room and argue how to handle the bugbears. The Halfing bard remembers the paper from Grol and the two half elves (IRL married couple) scrounge through their notebooks/folders for the note. They can’t find it and their faces are as terrified as I imagined their characters faces were when realizing they misplaced it. lol.
It made for several minutes of laughter, they even went out to the car(wagon) to make sure. I t was super funny.
They ended up forging something in the back of an old parchment they picked up and it tricked all 3 bugbears but 1 decided to leave the cave now that he didnt have to follow the spider anymore.
Anyways, thought I’d share a funny moment.

 | I have had this house for 2 years (new construction). Last year, I believe that grout conditions very much stunted this guys’ growth. This year, I’ve been way more invested in its success. I’ve pruned dead branches, I’ve remulched, freed the bump on the trunk (can’t remember what it’s called). I don’t think I’m overwatering, as I check the soil to see how dry it is when I do water. No sign of insects or mold. The only things I can think of are that my yard is North facing, so maybe not enough sun (though this doesn’t seem to affect my neighbors) or that my yard doesn’t hold water well? I’m very invested in ensuring this tree survives/thrives and would very much appreciate any advice that can help me in doing so. Sorry for the book! |

My husband and I are building a shop house. The main living space is wide open, but we've done a decent job designing it so each space is pretty well defined. We have tall ceilings and are thinking about wood beams. Bamboo floors are warm with a reddish undertone. Living room area will have carpet bc we have a little kid.
I love the idea of doing different shades of white throughout all or most of it and then relying on rugs, our cabinets and countertops, the fireplace and mantel, art, plants, etc to pull in color, style, and texture. However, my husband's not totally sold on the idea and I do worry about ending up with a very Joanne-Gaines-esque house.

I tried to build a small replica and noticed that the command "execute if blocks" only works if I built it facing north or east. Hey guys, my name is Rosslyn and I live in Virginia. I have been raised here my whole life and I grew up with stories of all sorts of cryptids around here. Last night, however, was different.
My husband, Charlie, and I were out on a drive to his hometown in North Carolina. This place has maybe 2000 people if not less inhabiting, and it’s almost an hour from the nearest hospital. Growing up was odd here, he would tell me. He always said that you were never truly alone, but I always thought it was just the ghosts of hundreds of those who have passed roaming and curiously passing by. I’ve seen a few shadows here and there and i can say I’ve never felt alone, but also I’ve never felt threatened.
This time, we were driving there around 10 pm. There is this spot we like to sit at, and sometimes we need some time away to relax and enjoy each others company. The drive isn’t longer than 2 hours, and we like to take the scenic route around when it’s empty. He had mentioned how he knew this road he used to love to sit at, and at the end of it is a culdasac of trees. When we approached, we were both silent but now I know we were both experiencing the same feeling of “I’m not alone right now.”
That’s when I saw it. Behind the trees, lurking to not be seen, was a tall and gangly figure. I remember feeling petrified and when I caught it’s eyes, I glanced away. I told him to leave right then and there and later explained what i had saw.
As we continued to drive to his old neighborhood, we both continued to feel followed. His streets seemed to have a cast of darkness not typical on these nights. We turned to our usually spot and parked, at this point I had described to him what I had seen and we rolled down the windows to listen.
Silence. Fleeting crickets. Silence. I looked at him and felt that trickling fear of being watched. Again.
We hightailed it out of there and began our journey home, both of us at that point realizing that we are being hunted down. My husband knows how to take these roads and curves, but I can only imagine what would have happened if he took a curve too tight and we hit a tree.
At some point I glanced out of the window into the dark field next to us and I saw it running on all fours. I could feel it’s anger, I was NOT supposed to have seen it. At this point, I told my husband and he maneuvered us to a small little area with civilization; IE a hotel a few fast food places and a Walmart. He decided oddly to turn into the Walmart and park.
Wrong idea. We quickly realized we were being searched for and created a plan to escape. We both knew what was going on and we both knew we narrowly escaped death at that time. Looking into the eyes of your apex predator is feeling you’ll never forget.
we ended up escaping to home and i tried to lay down to forget it all, but quickly realized I am not okay. When I close my eyes, all I could see was it’s face staring back at me. The long white ashy snout with dark hollow eyes and a piercing grey middle to them. It was a tall and stood on both legs, it had a hunch and was terrifying skinny.
It was hungry.
My husband later mentioned he doesn’t know quite why, but the reason he turned down that street in the first place was he felt ‘called’ to go. I felt the same and I know that had we stepped out the car, had I not accidentally caught a glimpse into it’s eyes, we would be dead.
So that brings me to now, this morning. I just woke up after being haunted in my dreams of his eyes and face and I’m asking for help. My husband thinks I’m marked and that I can never return, but I don’t know enough to fully understand what’s happened to me.

That’s when I saw it. Behind the trees, lurking to not be seen, was a tall and gangly figure. I remember feeling petrified and when I caught it’s eyes, I glanced away. I told him to leave right then and there and later explained what i had saw.
As we continued to drive to his old neighborhood, we both continued to feel followed. His streets seemed to have a cast of darkness not typical on these nights. We turned to our usually spot and parked, at this point I had described to him what I had seen and we rolled down the windows to listen.
Silence. Fleeting crickets. Silence. I looked at him and felt that trickling fear of being watched. Again.
We hightailed it out of there and began our journey home, both of us at that point realizing that we are being hunted down. My husband knows how to take these roads and curves, but I can only imagine what would have happened if he took a curve too tight and we hit a tree.
At some point I glanced out of the window into the dark field next to us and I saw it running on all fours. I could feel it’s anger, I was NOT supposed to have seen it. At this point, I told my husband and he maneuvered us to a small little area with civilization; IE a hotel a few fast food places and a Walmart. He decided oddly to turn into the Walmart and park.
Wrong idea. We quickly realized we were being searched for and created a plan to escape. We both knew what was going on and we both knew we narrowly escaped death at that time. Looking into the eyes of your apex predator is feeling you’ll never forget.
we ended up escaping to home and i tried to lay down to forget it all, but quickly realized I am not okay. When I close my eyes, all I could see was it’s face staring back at me. The long white ashy snout with dark hollow eyes and a piercing grey middle to them. It was a tall and stood on both legs, it had a hunch and was terrifying skinny.
It was hungry.
My husband later mentioned he doesn’t know quite why, but the reason he turned down that street in the first place was he felt ‘called’ to go. I felt the same and I know that had we stepped out the car, had I not accidentally caught a glimpse into it’s eyes, we would be dead.
So that brings me to now, this morning. I just woke up after being haunted in my dreams of his eyes and face and I’m asking for help. My husband thinks I’m marked and that I can never return, but I don’t know enough to fully understand what’s happened to me.

So due to the salary cap, a team like Vegas may only be able to offer a free agent $125K when that player could easily get $175 on several other teams, but they will play for Vegas because they know they'll get an extra $100K on top of their salary.
I have seen some remark that this is a good thing and that it helps players get more money, but I don't think people are thinking through all the ramifications. If this goes forward then you're going to have a bidding war for players that only a few teams can participate in.
If Vegas can offer their players an extra $100K (not directly but because they know they'll get this from a third party), what will happen in New York? Do you think some business is simply going to match the $100K that they're getting in Vegas? No, they'll offer more. Let's say a business decides to hire the whole New York Liberty roster to promote them at $200K a piece. That's 2.4 million a year, and they figure getting Ionescu and Stewart alone is worth that per year. Then let's say someone decides they'd like to be able to hire the entire Fever roster to sponsor them at $300K a player thinking Clark alone justifies that $3.6 million output a year.
What other teams could draw that kind of sponsorship so that it's worth it to a business? Maybe Seattle, maybe Chicago, but certainly not the rest of the league. So you're going to have all the best free agents going to 4 or 5 teams.
And yes I know someone is going to say that essentially that is what's going to happen anyway as players migrate through free agency to the best teams in order to win a Championship, but in that situation what teams are offering is not monetary. Yes some teams like the Aces and Storm can offer better facilities, and some teams can offer a better chance at a ring, but allowing some teams to be able to offer supplementary incomes to their players (by way of third parties) is taking it to a new level because now you're talking people's everyday livelihood and their ability to contribute to their families.
There are free agents who 'might' stay in their respective cities for the sake of loyalty when faced with the choice of non-monetary considerations, but put real money in front of them that can have an immediate impact on their life, and players are going to have to do what's best for themselves and the people in their lives.
As Indiana Fever fans, I'm confident we can play in this world and do quite well. Clark can draw all kinds of sponsorship deals that her teammates can be a part of in order to attract the top free agents. And we'll enjoy watching all the Fever games even though we know that we're going to win 90% of our games easily whenever we don't face one of the other super teams, but is this what is best for the rest of the league?

Time Since First Contact: Y:0 M:1 W:0 D:0 Memory transcript: Commander Fango Feral, Tiwond of the Enforcers. “Again,” I told Sunclick. He nodded as the security feed from the incident at the mall played once more in front of us. My niece Canilia Lieutenant Feral, Sunclick, along with the commander lieutenants of each district, all observed what was happening on the screen in front of us, from the human known as Sixer interacting peacefully with a couple, then that brat, who came out of nowhere, who was chasing some poor Zeyzell, then Ashina, who came out of the bathroom and slammed the brat on the ground. Then he and his friends left only for the brat, who disappeared before he left the door. “And his friends have no idea where he went?” I asked one of the commander lieutenants. “No, sir. My husband was one of the people on that recovery team, and after heavy interrogation of the kids' friends, he simply disappeared. He left his friends completely abandoned and confused. They don’t know where he went. It was like he just vanished.” One of the commander lieutenants spoke up. “Thank you for the confirmation,” I told him. He swished his tail in acknowledgment and then started talking to the others as they bounced theories and questions off one another. Leaving me and my niece to ourselves, my niece stepped forward. “Sir, I understand this is personal for you, especially since it involved Ashina.” my niece told me. “Thank you for understanding that. I know you and her didn’t always get along, especially after her parents died, but I’m glad you, too, have become such close friends after we let her in under our roof,” I whispered to my niece. Looking at my niece's face, I wished I could take off that gas mask to see her smile. However, I knew what was under it, and any real chance of her being truly happy was most likely long, long gone. Ever since she lost her gift, she has been bitter and angry, focusing solely on protecting others from the same fate that befell her. I don’t know how long I’ve been doing it, but Dominic’s caught me doing it twice. He knows something, and he will think less of me when he finds out.” She hung her head with despair. With all my heart, I wish I could reach out, grab her by the head, and yell at her that losing your gift isn’t a sign of dishonor. She was wounded in combat. None of it was her fault, and that she should forgive herself. But I know that wouldn’t work, she’s too stubborn like me, one of the few traits. I wish she had never gotten it from me. If my sister was here now, she would kill me. “What has he done about it?” I asked. “When he saw you looking at the little ones.” She moved a little bit, causing her power armor to creek, then looked back up at me with the sort of, well, I don’t know, I've never seen that look in her eyes. It was like Hope and joy, but more. “He knows something is wrong. It’s his medical training that tells him it and his instincts, he’s actually baked a few meats for me, and sometimes when I snap out of it, there’s a blanket over me and a hot cup of…coco, I believe he calls it next to me. He is an excellent caretaker.” I couldn’t help but smile. She finally found someone who isn’t intimidated by her, who is willing to care for her that isn’t me. I felt an odd pride at that, but I’ll take that pride. “Is the great Canilia Feral Smiling? Oh, I never thought I would see the da-.” My niece and I turned at the same exact time. Our combined staring rivals that of any sun's power, with how intense our staring was at the damned soul who dared make a comment like that at her. The moment our eyes landed on the poor soul, he shriveled faster than a drumling that was absorbed into a flesh pit. He quickly hung his head and scurried out of the room to the laughter of the other lieutenant commanders. I turned back to Sunclick, who was having a bit of a chuckle of his own, he looked up at me and gave him the thumbs up, and I returned the gesture. “Have the scanners picked anything up? The cameras, have they picked anything up about this person?” I asked him, the laughter quickly leaving the room as we returned to full seriousness mode. “Sorry, commander, nothing, we’ve picked up absolutely nothing about this guy. We’ve run background checks, and we believe a few leads and we have some units out there checking out all the leads, however, will take some time as there are quite a few, and we don’t really know much about this kid. There are almost no files on him. The only thing we have turned up is a birth certificate and seventeen residences, which cannot be right. However, we did find something rather interesting. After talking to some of the people on the scene, we were able to discern a possible motive, which gave us a very good lead. Then, looking into that motive, we found a few of these.” Sunclick pointed to a stack of extremely old newspapers, the ones the type that came right after the third unification war, when hyperpaper was very rare, and the plants that needed to be used in hyperpaper production were almost all wiped out during the war, and these are made on type of cloth to save hyper paper. I walked over and picked one up, looking at the article that was circled. It read, “Boy's mother, abducted by aliens? Fact? Or postwar terrorist?” I looked at Sunclick. “I remember the post-war terrorist, and I put a few down myself.” My niece spoke out loud as she looked over my shoulder. One of the lieutenant commanders came up, picked up the newspaper stacks, and started handing them out to the others. “Sunclick, I trust your judgment, but can you explain…this?” I asked him. His eyes lit up like a Titan bug after it had ingested a bunch of parasites that were making their way out of its body. “I would love to! You see, this kid, for whatever reason, believes that aliens abducted his mother. Now, post-war terrorists were common, and they are running around, and it might even be true that a post-war terrorist kidnapper killed his mother. However, the body was never actually found like most terrorist killings. After the war, there was so much confusion because people didn’t know what to do, and many were still bitter that we had won. For whatever reason, this kid got this idea into his head that aliens had kidnapped his mother, which everyone was kind of obsessed about, even more so that there are some literally living among us. Much to everyone’s delight, I must say. However, with that single statement, that single line, and what witnesses told us at the scene. We have a much more narrow view of who this kid is, the only problem is, that the kid was never properly documented. He’s a ghost in the system. The good news is his friends have been more than helpful, as they didn’t realize he would go that far. They've been telling us everything about him, but after some digging, it turns out they know just as much as we do, next to nothing. Either this kid is extremely paranoid or…” Sunclick went silent. “Please, Sunclick, tell us.” my niece asked. He took a deep breath. He shifted nervously in his seat. “He’s a part of the cult of the old God.” The emotion and general vibe of the room immediately shifted when the cult of the old god was mentioned: those rat bastards. “Do you think they moved up this far north?” I asked him. “Honestly, I think so, I’ve been working with some of the lesser district managers since all of you guys have been busy with the aliens, which I don’t blame you for. They’re pretty freaking awesome. However, since their arrival, the cult of the old God activity has practically tripled twenty-fold. It’s insane what they’ve been pulling off, from stealing military equipment to assassinating low-level political members-" "WHY IN THE OLD VOID WAS I NOT MADE AWARE OF THIS!?!" I screamed. Everyone in the room winced except my neice. Sunclick, who had received the full force of my explosive outbursts, had his ears pinned on his head and looked somewhat afraid of me now. This means they’ll be number one on their bucket list to take out, and if they do that, the aliens could turn against us, seeing us as all hostile, which is not happening at all, considering just how nice they’ve been, they’re also extremely cuddly, I mean, have you seen the way they-.” “Sunclick, I understand you enjoy discussing advanced science with humans, but we need you to focus.” One of the commander lieutenants said. Sunclick stopped and nodded. “Right, right, sorry. As I was saying, the aliens represent a massive threat to their organization. However, this attack could’ve been a totally one-off situation where some random member decided to prove themselves. However, it also could have been something to test the alien's reaction to one of their own getting attacked. The aliens were mad, sure, but they trusted us to keep them safe. The aliens themselves didn’t do much other than send down more equipment for us and some of their own people to monitor the situation.” Sunclick finished. I nodded my head. “Thank you, good work as always.” he smiled and nodded as his ears returned to normal, then returned to his computer. I looked back at the lieutenant command, who had the Zeyzell and citizen who were assaulted under her watch. “How are the two that were assaulted?” She grimaced. “Not great, I'm afraid. The Zeyzell has been having regular panic attacks, and the citizen has refused to come out of their house in the past two days. They’re too scared for their Zeyzell counterpart. The two have become great friends, which is good for AR, though.” She said, “AR?” I asked. “Sorry. Many of the grunts have been using it, and it’s very catchy. It’s called alien relations, AR.” I nodded and turned back to the screen as the scene played again. It was the kid, limping off out of the door, who would then disappear from his friend's arms. I glanced up at the screen a little higher, and that’s when I noticed it. A camera is not connected to the system, barely a pixel on the screen. It’s a private camera. How did we not see that? “Sunclick, look up top of the ceiling on the screen,” I told him. He looked up, and his eyes went wide. “It's a private camera! How could we miss that?” he said out loud. “Not important right now. Can you get access to it?” I asked him. This is the chance I've been waiting for to get this person who would dare assault the alien who's making my daughter so happy. “Yes, sir, I can do that!” he proudly exclaimed. After a few quick taps on his computer, multiple connections, errors, and unknown errors, he punched the computer and got a connection. The tape played this time from the front. The angle was a bit weird, so we couldn’t get a good look at the kid's face, But it was what was around his neck that mattered. “I’ll be damned, a pendant of the cult of the old God.” my niece said as we all looked at it in surprised silence. “ I’m gonna have fun tearing that kid apart.” She said as she flexed her power armor claws. I looked at the pendent in silent anger. "Bold of the kid to wear it around in the open like that." She said aloud, and we all agreed. I turned around to the face of other lieutenant commanders. “This is what we’ve been preparing for. You know the drill: get your districts, alert every enforcement office if possible, and get the enforcers on the streets. Get everyone on higher alert. I want more patrols, and I want everything more. Not enough to alert the population that something is happening yet, just more than usual.” They all nodded and streamed out of the room. I turned to leave. However, an open door caught my eye. I turned and walked through it to see my niece standing on the balcony overlooking the city. I wandered out myself, power armor slightly clanking the entire time, the metal hitting the cold, polished concrete of the floor. I also looked at the sprawling metropolis we had built from this hell hole of a planet, its towering walls lined with guns and cannons to keep out the beasties. I walked up beside her and saw that something was in her hands. “What do you have there?” I asked her. I looked at it closely, and it seemed to be some sort of scarf. I didn’t recognize the design or patterns. “Dominic made this for me. I don’t exactly know why. He just kind of did. He didn’t ask for anything in return. He just gave it to me. He said he didn’t want me to get a cold.” She brought the scarf to her neck, which was a perfect fit. She tied it around just underneath her mask, and when she was finished, she let out a puff of steam from her mask. “It's a perfect fit,” I replied, smiled, and looked back out over the city. Looking over it, I thought about our history, the feral's bloodline, and how we have served as the world’s protectors for so long. Now, it was threatened because only two ferals were left: me and my niece. Now, we have aliens to deal with. They seemed nice so far… I leaned a little farther over the railing. A glint of metal in the sky caught my eye and I looked up to see one of the Zeyzell transports coming down, most likely More Humans. I tracked it with my eyes as it landed in one of the newer landing pads with a loud clang, the landing gear hissing as it landed, and saw a large number of my people standing around there waving signs that said “Welcome!” and “Hello new friends!” and other signs that said similar welcoming messages. I smiled and looked over at my niece. “How has the city’s morale been since the aliens have come here?” She quickly opened her wrist computer and typed minor keys on the tiny keypad. I still don't understand how she can use that, the screen is so tiny. “From last time, when it was already an eighty percent increase, an additional twenty-three point four percent.” I smiled even brighter and looked back down. The Zeyzell transport landed, and everybody cheered, and then the door opened as the Humans and a few Zeyzell came off the transport. My people began shouting names. Most likely for exchange partners. Immediately, the aliens again answered the calls and ran to their new friends. Many embraced in tight hugs and made what I assumed were happy noises based on how their mouths moved, as I could hear very little from up here. A few of the humans even started crying as soon as they embraced the larger frames of my species, practically melting into the "floofy fur" as the humans called it, of our fur. I even saw a pup leap from its mom and “run,” although it was more of a quick waddle over to a human and embrace them, making happy beeping sounds the entire time. The human held them so gently as if they were afraid to break. Then, he immediately started to cry uncontrollably. However, with all of the joy and happiness down there that I so loved, I was a bit disturbed by the crying. What in the world could they have gone through that would make something like a simple hug so unique? No, it wasn't the hug itself. I thought about my time on board the ARK ship and what I had seen. I have seen many humans embracing each other and hugs, giving each other kisses or their equivalent of it, I've also seen them embracing and hugging Zeyzell. I was also aware of a lot of inter-species couples and marriages on board the ARK ship. I thought about it very hard, deciphering everything that I had learned on board the ARK ship, in addition to the information that was sent to us very early on, and-... then it clicked. “They aren't crying because they're being shown love…” “What?” My niece asked. I turned fully to her. “They are not crying because they're being shown love. They are crying because another species is showing them love. They're being shown that someone cares about them other than their own species and the Zeyzell.” I turned back to the landing pad and the ship was leaving as all the aliens had found the people they were looking for and were being carried back to cars, walking alongside them, or simply sitting and talking and sharing a meal. As I stood there, it was as if I could feel the emotions coming from the humans: the joy, the happiness, and the sheer love of being accepted. I couldn't explain it, but I felt as though we shared a deeper connection with humans than we initially thought. “Do you feel it?” my niece asked. I looked at her and nodded. “I can feel the joy, happiness, and love they are feeling right now from all the way over here.” I nodded my head. “I think whoever or whatever they were running from was another alien species, based on the information I gathered from the ark ship, the reactions and emotions of the humans down there, and the information I sent to us early on. I had theories before that it was another species they were running from; I know many other people thought that, too, But I think this almost confirms it: they are definitely running from someone. Or were, but now they feel safe here.” I told her as I gestured to all the people below us. My niece nodded. “When I get home, I'm going to give Dominic a big hug.” We remained silent for a time. Just watching the beautiful scene before us as the snow fell slowly and lightly, the trees swayed in the breeze, ever so slightly bending. The wind made a howling noise as it whipped through the tight streets and architecture of our building. I breathed in and let it out, letting my breath turn to steam. I reached out and let the snow fall onto my hand. I brought my hand close, but the snowflake had already melted. My gaze returned to the Humans and Zeyzell, enjoying the snow alongside my people. I turned to my niece. “Our planet may be trying to kill us in over a thousand different ways, but it’s beautiful, huh?” My niece sighed and looked at me. “Yeah, and it’s going to get a lot better now that we have friends, or lovers for some, from beyond the veil.” I nodded and looked back at the snow that now danced in my vision as the Humans and Zeyzell departed with my people. I sighed, and we both returned inside to see Sunclick waiting for us. “You can go nerd out with the humans now,” I told him. ‘“Thank you, sir!” He shot out of the room and down the hall. I smiled and turned back to my niece. “Do you want to grab something to eat? The snow is great right now.” I asked “Sure. However, before that, we should warn the aliens about the cult, huh?” “Oh, definitely,” I told her. I smiled and we walked over to the communication system connecting us to the Aliens.  | I'm quite new to parlour palms and this is my first one! I've had it for about six months and it's been fine until a few months ago where all the leaves suddenly started turning brown. I don't think it's from sun burn since he never gets any direct sunlight only indirect (he's sitting under a north facing skylight so gets indirect light for most of the day) and the only thing that's happened is about three months ago i had a bad depressive episode and forgot to water him for about a month. A few of the leaves went fully brown and died so i took them off. i'm assuming the lack of water is probably the cause of these browning leaves but since i've been watering him regularly as i used to for about a month i'm confused as to why it's still dying. I wasn't sure what to do and i read that parlours survive well in water so yesterday i removed all the soil and shoved him in this fish bowl. Hi all, I (22F) am going backpacking through Europe using an Interrail Pass this summer (2 months). I’ll mostly use hostels and airbnb’s though I want to do some trekkings where I’ll need a sleeping mat and sleeping bag in the huts(I have small ones). I’ve been doing some research on what size and brand I should use, it will be my first trip so I’m guessing I won’t be the utmost efficient in packing yet. Some backpacks I came across: - Thule alltrail 45L - Häglofs Vina 40L - Deuter Aircontact core 45 + 10L - Amber plus 65L - The north face terra 65L - Forclaz 45 +10L mt500 air
I also prefer backpacks which open widely from the front/side to acces everything, and stretchy material on the side for water bottle.
Does anyone have any experience with these backpacks, or orher recommendations? Thanks in advance!!

Introduction:
Recently I have undergone the task of setting up for a fun experience via offline game modes. With this task is to do all NHL teams’ all time rosters and to specifically have them correctly edited, or created via create a playegoalie.
Currently next up is the Vegas Golden Knights. This involves assembling the ultimate all-time Vegas roster for NHL 24 customization. The roster should consist of 21 players, including forward lines 1-4, three defensive pairs, and two goaltenders.
Guidelines:
Forwards:
Line 1 LW - C - RW -
Line 2 LW - C - RW -
Line 3 LW - C - RW -
Line 4 LW - C - RW -
Defense: Line 1 D - D -
Line 2 D - D -
Line 3 D - D -
Goalies: Starter - Backup -
Healthy Scratches: 1- 2- 3-
Conclusion:
First and foremost. The reason I post to a Golden Knights page over say an ea nhl page is simply do the dedication involved. I don’t get nearly the amount of passion in ea nhl threads as I would by going directly to fans of that team.
Thank you to everyone who participated in creating the Ultimate All-Time VGK roster. Though they are a relatively new franchise. Any help forming these rosters is appreciated. Thus, would probably more lenient on player tenure and more focused on any super star being a knight.
This project is specifically focused on the intricate and time-consuming task of customizing NHL 24 rosters. Your contributions are incredibly valuable because they allow me to quickly see your answers and make the roster happen without spending excessive time on research.
Creating these rosters involves much more than just listing players. Many of the players you’ll come up with won’t actually be in NHL 24, so I’ll need to create them via create a playegoalie. Thought it would be worth doing an update on what I've managed to achieve so far. I thought id taken previous advice to hand and hadn't taken on too much but looking back, it seems like a lot! Progress: Landscaping - half a path - 2 veg patches - fence - took down greenhouse (or rather a storm did) - chopped an Ash down that was swamping the laburnum. There's a full size tree along with 4 other self seeded young trees at last count - considering coppicing them for firewood or trying to remove...? Planted - 2 apple trees - fruting this year already :D! - a cherry tree - raspberry- not sure I picked the right spot might be too shaded by firs - black currant - cherry laurel and a red robin photinia as screens for privacy - splashed out on established plants with these - viburnum - to block the wall and eventually privacy - copper fern - clematis ×2 white and red, honey suckle and winter jasmine, oyracantha along new fence - honey suckle thriving, clematis OK but not thriving so far, still early. - hibiscus and daphne in existing bed - native tree collection from woodland Trust including Holly, hawthorn, blackthorn, Hazel, crab apple, dogwood, dog rose planted mainly in the bottom end of the garden which I'm gonna leave wild/turn to woodland. - bulbs/flowers - foxgloves - looking good, latris spicita,, gladiolus, allium moly - no sign yet too early. - eponymous japonica - struggling in a North East facing spot but clinging on - hops, thriving in shade of house will use and summer shade over a pagoda in future - aquilegia seeds - from my dad who got them from his dad :) - wildflower seed mix scattered liberally Other - started second compost heap (even got it briefly hot!), used existing compost in the garden - tamed 3 Bramble patches (very much won the battle but not the war) including liberating 3 rose bushes white pink and red, what might be orange iris', and some other pretty but unknown to me flowers and plants - let the grass grow all last year (partly deliberately partly just being too busy) and was rewarded with array of bugs and flowers. This seems to have paid dividends this year too already with buttercups, dandelions, daisies, herb robert, thistle and a load of other stuff I've got no idea what it is. Gonna let 2/3rds grow again this year but keep a portion trimmed so we can enjoy it a bit more. - tried to dig out one of the fir trees on the left, gave up after seeing how extensive root system was, I don't like them but they're effective screens and keep some greenery in winter. - tamed buddliea to get bustier rabbit- coming back well Plans for next yeabeyond Landscaping - finish path - new greenhouse - patio and glass roofed pagoda that we grow hops up for shade in summer but have clear in winter so we keep the light - log store lean-to - more permanent compost heap Planting - probably rest to see how existing plants do - plum tree/other fruit tree or bush - some more screening plants on left hand side - Virginia creeper to cover next doors grey walled out building - fascia cutting from dad and bottle brush - shrubs after laburnum on right, all existing shrubs are on neigh ours side so want to future proof just in case! |

hello. ill try to keep this to relevant information but i think youll all understand when i say i tend to give more information than needed. im posting this half for advice in general and half because im curious as to if anyone else has made a big move like this and how it impacted your functioning concerning your autism.
ive been going through a lot of changes recently and it has been taking a huge toll on my mental health. to keep things easy to keep track of, ill provide an order of events to summarize:
-december, im depressed a lot. house chores are slipping through the cracks. husband agreed to take on my duties but doesnt maintain the apartment to the level im used to, so i have a lot of anxiety about being home. he forgets things a lot due to a mix of adhd and a semi-recent tbi that never healed to the state his brain was before. my therapist wants to get me an autism evaluation. my meds are increased to the maximum dose possible
which brings us to now. im absolutely in burnout, still struggling with suicidal ideation and executive functioning. self care is out the window. my husband is starting a new job that will pay much more than i was getting. lease is up august 1st. plan is to move into my in laws house until steady employment for my husband is reached and we can financially find a place of our own again. i have 5 years of stuff to somehow sort through and condense so we can drag it back across the country.
but now that i have a lot more headspace free, i keep thinking about how happy we were here before all this started. how nice our apartment was and how i love the mountains and all the small businesses we grew to frequent all the time, and how before all this happened i was dead set on just living here permanently. im so torn because all i wanted in my darkest moments was to go back to the quiet countryside my family lives in in my home state, and i do think a quieter area would help. sometimes my husband and i lean over the cricket containers at pet stores to listen to them chirp because summer nights in the south are all crickets and frogs croaking and train horns, and we have none of that here. the southern countryside has an air of peace i have yet to match anywhere else.
im just so lost and scrambling to get my feet under me again. now that my biggest stressor is out of the picture i feel guilty that i dont have my shit together yet. im also really curious as to what the autistic side of me would benefit most from. has anyone had experience with this kind of location change impacting their functioning concerning their autism?

- get married at 20 years old, move from my east side home state to a western state bc my new husband is in military
- move 8 hours north after 2 years in western state
- really like it in new state. live here for 2 more years before changes start happening. entire time im unemployed. im a homemaker, so i do all the cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc while husband works. mental health is constantly up and down, but mostly up. i can recover when im down and i get better quickly. im happy, husband’s happy. we’re poor but ok with it bc we’re happy
- start attending therapy in july 2023. get on antidepressants/anti anxiety med. work through past hangups. going well, i love my therapist
- october 2023, husband is medically retired. he wants to take a break before finding a job, i agree that he deserves a break after working so hard to the point he has multiple medical problems. i start looking for a job.

- february 2024, due to increasing depression and suicidal ideation, i relapse in self harm and make a plan for suicide. i have a complete breakdown. my therapist has my husband take me to a psych ward. they dont admit me because they (rightfully) feel im no longer a danger to myself and that admitting me into a strange environment with none of my familiar deescalation comforts would cause more harm than good mentally. i get a formal autism evaluation. i decide then that i want to move back to my home state as soon as physically possible. my therapist says she doesnt think long term employment is possible for me.
- march, my results come back. im officially diagnosed at age 24 with level 2 autism, adhd, social anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder with panic attacks, and major depressive disorder (moderate, recurrent episodes). my therapist tells me shes changing jobs and will be gone by the end of the month. i take all this in. work keeps getting harder and harder to do.
which brings us to now. im absolutely in burnout, still struggling with suicidal ideation and executive functioning. self care is out the window. my husband is starting a new job that will pay much more than i was getting. lease is up august 1st. plan is to move into my in laws house until steady employment for my husband is reached and we can financially find a place of our own again. i have 5 years of stuff to somehow sort through and condense so we can drag it back across the country.
but now that i have a lot more headspace free, i keep thinking about how happy we were here before all this started. how nice our apartment was and how i love the mountains and all the small businesses we grew to frequent all the time, and how before all this happened i was dead set on just living here permanently. im so torn because all i wanted in my darkest moments was to go back to the quiet countryside my family lives in in my home state, and i do think a quieter area would help. sometimes my husband and i lean over the cricket containers at pet stores to listen to them chirp because summer nights in the south are all crickets and frogs croaking and train horns, and we have none of that here. the southern countryside has an air of peace i have yet to match anywhere else.
im just so lost and scrambling to get my feet under me again. now that my biggest stressor is out of the picture i feel guilty that i dont have my shit together yet. im also really curious as to what the autistic side of me would benefit most from. has anyone had experience with this kind of location change impacting their functioning concerning their autism?
