Hey all,
I used to be a fairly serious (and briefly professional) cellist that had played for almost 2 decades, went to conservatory, won a few competitions here and there, etc.
It turned out that I would "leave" music for around 10 years where I basically didn't touch my cello a single time. I very recently hesitantly picked it up again to at least casually get reacquainted and I discovered two horrifying things.
1) My 3rd and 4th finger lost all their strength. I essentially couldn't play! Barely even a scale! I guess some level of muscle...weakening is normal but it was still shocking. Everything was weak and shaky but it was crazy to me how I basically just couldn't play with 2 of my fingers.
2) Perhaps even more scary...I used to have perfect pitch but it seems like my entire ear is now off by a semitone, which made playing really really scary and hard among other things. I would hear what's in reality was an F# and think it was a G. Open strings became just scary or my fingers would be where I "know" it was a B but my brain would register C.
I'm not sure what I'm looking for posting this here. I'm a bit too embarrassed to tell friends who stayed in music. But I guess the big questions are has anyone experienced anything like this before and is there a way to fix it? I guess with some practice it shouldn't be (hopefully) too much work for the finger strength to come back but the whole pitch being off thing is very very scary.

Hey peeps I've been thinking of writing on reddit this story for a while but i wasn't sure where and when so when i saw that our petty queen and judge made a reddit i immediatly saw my chance. This story needs just a bit of facts before you can understand the situation better so ill explain briefly. Also it's a bit of a long story so brace yourselves.

1. I (20F) am a middle daugther of five girls. 2. My two older sisters (27 and 28) are sweethearts that don't live with us anymore but that i can rely on if i need. They left the household quite early due to some problems within the family and so i quickly became the "role model/older sister" for my two little sisters. 3. My youngest sister (14) is autistic meaning she did get a bit more attention as we were growing up and has a certain caracter (still very sweet at times). 4. My young sister (16), let's call her M, is a brat. To state why i say that, i can give you multiple examples such as : stealing clothes,makeup,etc (from me and my mom) and ruining them even going to as far as to alter clothes just so they fit her, always starting a fight with the youngest, always making my parents give her rides (like a lot) even for small things and never being grateful for it (whining cause they'd be late etc), throwing a tantrum when things don't go her way and then making it feel like its their fault, basically always playing the victim and saying it's because of her mental state when she doesn't even take her pills. Now some of you may say to look at things from her side and honestly we've all tried so so hard but at this point when she refuses help (i started taking my vitamins with her while she takes her pills, she'd lie and say she'd taken them, going to therapy, etc.) and doesn't even try to make an effort to fix her condition we've pretty much lost hope. Because of our family situation and my goody two shoes attitude i've always been the mediator in the family fights wether it was with my parents or sisters or anyone else. At this point it's taken a toll on me but i'm afraid that if i don't do anything everything will just fall appart. That's why whenever M would steal my stuff and i'd reprimend her for it, it didn't really do anything and she'd be back to stealing my things the next day. The only time she did come to me and apologize was when she stole something very VERY personnal (you know what i mean, self-care s*xual thing), yes she stole that and used it, and i completely blew up and didn't talk to her and completely ignored her until she came to see me to apologized. And the next week, you guessed it she started stealing again. At this point i have a lock on the door to my room and a camera (you might think it's too much but its the only thing keeping her out), she did try to lockpick the door before (it didnt work).

I've also tried to demand money (the cost of product/clothing item) when i'd realize she had stolen something but this brat is flat broke (spends 800 on a winter coat) and she would ask our mom for money for "school stuff" and give me that money and then steal again or just not give me anything.
Recently things were going well, she hadn't been stealing anything for the last two months and at least she would come to me and ask me before borrowing something (which by now i hate lending my stuff because of her but i prefer she asks me instead of stealing it). I thought she had stopped that habit but on monday when i went to my ringuette match (a really cool sport) i couldn't find any, i have five, of the bandanas that i use to keep my hair out of my face under my helmet, which i found odd. Before directly going to my sister, because that's now our first instinct when something's missing (sad but true) i asked my dad since he sometimes washed my ringuette clothes along with his hockey stuff. To my, not, shock he told me he hadn't. So straight when i got home i unpacked my bag and just when i was about to go to M and ask her if she'd taken them, which would've resulted in her saying that she didn't take them as always, i saw her dance bag and a colorful cloth hanging out of it and you'll never guess what it was, drum roll please: my bandanas, what a surprise. Now, my bandanas are the cheap colorful ones with the swirly black patterns on them, we all know them, so it could've been some that she had bought but mine were identified since when M started stealing my stuff and saying it was hers i started putting a little L, for my name, on my things. Needless to say i found all my bandanas and went to confront her with them. This shameless brat just starred a them and told me she needed them for her dance performance with her group and asked if she could take them to which i immediatly answered with a no of course not. She then started whining that it was for tomorrow and that she had told her friends she'd bring some for them since it was an important event and they needed them. At this point i was fuming because not only did she steal them she was also going to be lending them to friends and they'd end up i dont know where!?!? Also she could've at least had the decency to leave me one for my match and wash them for her friends (they propably smelled like sweat). But past that i told her that no she coudn't have them and, i said f*ck goody two shoes, that she would have to figure it out on her own and tell her friends. She of course rolled her eyes, was rude and shoved me out of her room. At this point i don't know what to do with her attitude and actions as i know it'll just start again if i dont do anything. I'm just glad i got this tiny win. Any ideas?

I (38/M) am the sole income for my family, my wife (41/F) is a homemaker who takes care of our two special needs children (10 & 16). While my wife and I both hope to live a good long life, the simple truth is that more than likely our children will outlive us, but they also require 100% dependent care and that is unlikely to change. We both come from small families and the only reliable family members we have are all older than us so we can't bank on them being around past us either.
More than likely our only option will be for our children to end up in a care facility that specializes in special needs tenants. I've always been incredibly wary of such facilities though as I often hear the horror stories about substandard levels of care, and how many such facilities just leech off the funds set up for the tenants, and if the tenant has no active family member to check up on them, tend to get worse care.
So obviously I can have things set up to choose where my children will go when my wife and I pass, as well as set everything up to liquidate all my assets into a trust fund for them, but what else can I do? Is there any way I can better protect their interests and my wishes for their care? Beyond just a simple will & testament, what else can I do now while I hopefully still have decades left to best ensure that their best needs are met. I would very much like to maintain their standard of living beyond my living, but I know almost nothing about what options are available to me.
I make about $90k - $100K per year, which puts me in an average middle income for my area.

I’m 22 F and have been gifted since a kid. My kindergarten wanted to move me up to the third grade. By first grade I was on a 8th grade reading/comprehension level. I’ve always had a deeper understand and connection to the things around me but didn’t realize that it’s BECAUSE I’m gifted.
My family has kinda let me forget that part of myself since I became a teenager because it became problematic. I started calling them out for their perpetual behaviors that weren’t beneficial and the hypocrisy they displayed between me and others. Like a male child can have a gf young but I could never have a bf. When I asked why, and genuinely was curious I was called disrespectful. If I asked why a rule was in place to better understand the foundation of my environment, I’d be told to hush. Stay in a child’s place.
I’ve often been told I think too deeply about things. And that the rules I set for my daughter are “over the top”. Like, I don’t allow comments with underlying negative perceptions of my daughter. Calling her ‘fast’ or ‘bad’ or that she should ‘stay in a child’s place’ has too much of a negative subconscious effect to me. While my husband gets it to a certain extent, he’s the first person to REALLY accept my level of intelligence and depth. He allows me to be creative without judging or making me feel I need to stay under a certain ceiling.
But his mother is another challenge. She looks at me as if I were her at 22. Which was a completely different experience in general but even more so because I don’t have the mindset or level of understanding of a general 22 year old. Whenever I bring things up to her, she shoots out this (to me) extremely rudimentary advice that I’ve learned about years ago through research, studying, and asking questions to other people. She constantly wants to give out the advice she felt she would need at my age but it’s really an insult to my intelligence. When I explain to her that I don’t need this from her and would rather her emotional support or to just be her normal pleasure to be around, she can’t understand this. She feels she has to push this basic knowledge on everything which is often outdated and not backed by science.
If I say basically she doesn’t know what she’s talking about, especially in regard to being a parent, she feels I don’t have the place to say that. While she’ll never say that outright, she doesn’t get the whole gifted thing. And she often insults my intelligence in front of my daughter and insinuates she knows better. While I’m using her as an example, most of my relationships are like this. There’s this automatic assumption that being young comes with ignorance. And while that’s true and I don’t claim to know everything, a lot of things I’m doing now (marriage, college, kids) are things I’ve thought about at 10 and 11 years old and only built on that knowledge through analysis of patterns.
I hate to come off like a know it all because I absolutely don’t know it all. But what I know…I know. How do I navigate the automatic expectation that I’m young and, essentially, ignorant when my brain isn’t that. How can I be confident in myself when I’m constantly being torn down and told I intimidate people with my responses because I ask the hard questions. Sorry for the rant I just feel so misunderstood and discounted all the time.

You can have good scores both with a Typhlosion and a second Pyre, because both skills will trigger during beneficial disruptions. Neutral TC can be used if your Fire team is weak. Unity power and LDE are always an option for beginners.
Using Burn+, could be better to skip Disruption Delay to maximize the damage in the first moves and save some coins.

I got the error trying to build the package that I created using the instruction available on http://wiki.ros.org/ROS/Tutorials/ RosWiki
I am also trying to understand the folder structure and I am a noob trying to get into this field of robotics and everyone points to ROS and this is getting frustrating because I can't create a simple package and get to scripting.
I am running M3 Mac, let me know if you need anything else from me to help me troubleshoot this. I installed ROS using conda following instruction on this website:

Hey there! I would love to get the community’s opinion on my current situation. I have been in the field of ABA since 2017; first 2 years as a BT, next 5 years as a BCBA. I recently took on a clinical director position and have been in this role for about 2.5 years now. I have been enjoying this role and how it has challenged me and also getting to do more with the management/billing/operational side of a company. The work culture is amazing and I look forward to seeing my colleagues every day. I am newly pregnant (first tri) and it’s safe to say that I have been struggling managing my duties as a CD and also just symptoms of being pregnant (consistently being tired, nausea, etc.) My role is really more consistent with a COO in my opinion, as I am responsible for literally all the day to day operations of two clinics (I split my week between two locations): hiring, client outreach, performance evaluations, crisis prevention training, payroll, answering the phone, staff breaks and lunches, staff management (~30 total staff), client management (~40 total clients), quality assurance measures, and much more. This ultimately looks like 41+ in person working hours a week (not including the work I do at home after my in person schedule which is typically M-F 9am-6pm.) I report directly to our owners who really primarily approve/sign off on my work and also do some back end business management. I requested to them that I be able to work remotely for 1 day out of the week to allow myself to catch up on non client/BT facing work, but to also help give my body rest now that I’m pregnant. I am also truthfully thinking more long-term now as I do have a baby in the way and if I can sustain the responsibilities of this role and if it’s worth it (currently at $100k in Oregon.) My employer has been hesitant to grant this request as they fear that my absence from either clinic may leave them liable to certain allegations (I.e. we have very few clients in our clinic in the evening, and we currently have a two provider policy in place) however, we currently rolled out a system that incorporates having our supervisors on duty throughout the week, and we also have cameras throughout each clinic/work room that have recording features which I feel helps mitigate that. Additionally, I am pretty much constantly available via phone, so I would be available to support as needed and could travel to the clinic at a moments notice.
A few questions for you all:

• Am I unreasonable for asking my employer to honor this request?
• For those who are business owners/employers, would you honor this request? If not, why?
• For pregnant clinical directors or clinical director mamas; how are you managing your role with being a mom/expecting mom??

I’m 26, been working desk jobs for only a few years. The corporate world seems to be so closed off to college grads/junior candidates just trying to get their foot in the door. Every job search I've had has always been such an ordeal just to land some entry level role. Endless applications and rejections. I would often fall into the trap of “having no experience”. But of course, how can you get experience if you don’t have a job?
Companies look at us young whippersnappers as risky investments. Not willing to train, cause it costs them money and their valuable time away from making cutting-edge apple sauce packaging for their marketing agency.
Instead, they’d rather just have a pre-made purple squirrel who can do junior work for less pay. So they created this ceiling for “entry-level” roles and require 4+ years of experience.
How is this sustainable? There is not going to be this infinite supply of ready-made senior level unicorns, their training had to come from somewhere.
Eventually those senior folks will retire, and we’ll be left with a disorganized, scattershot, and jaded work force that these companies helped create. Are people worried that if they put a lot of time and money in training a junior employee, that they would find a higher paying job elsewhere?
You know what might help employees stay longer at your company? Actually investing in their growth, showing patience through their mistakes, and paying them what they’re worth. I’d love to have an employer that actually appreciated and trusted me!
I think a lot of my peers are getting more and more pissed off by the one sided nature of the employer-employee relationship. The big wigs have all the cash and all the power. How are young people supposed to truly thrive, build lives for themselves, and be happy or productive members of society? The deck seems totally stacked!
I’m just rambling at this point, cause I’ve got no answers. I just think if you refuse to invest in the next generation, you are refusing to invest in the growth of your company long term, and frankly the human race in general.
There are plenty of college grads and junior candidates who deserve a chance from these hiring managers. So many would-be eager, intelligent, and passionate young workers out there, who could make a real impact for any good business. But instead are being underpaid, unappreciated, and treated like liabilities for the crime of not being alive long enough. All for what? Short term profit?
Well at least shareholders are getting their bonuses!! How could society function if shareholders didn’t have enough cocaine money? Cocaine isn’t going to buy itself folks!
It’s a real clown show in the corporate world. Idk it’s frustrating, wish things weren’t so bleak.

Before we get started on today's post the current voting for Skeledirge has votes for S tier with a solid lead that doesn't seem to be slowing down. So with that being said it looks like Skeledirge will be joining Garg and Cloyster in the S tier! Like with the previous votes I'll continue to check the numbers and if anything changes I'll update it on tomorrow's post.
And speaking of which, the previous day's vote for Snorlax/Dynamax had a late surge of votes to Abstain (I'm guessing people who haven't used it or haven't used its G Max form yet and wanted to fully try it out before voting) and Abstaining votes ended up out-voting votes for A or S tier. So we officially have our first Pokemon that will be tabled for the time being and brought back up for vote in the future. With that being said let's get to today's vote!
Today is day 12 of tier voting and one of the first requests that was made on this SubReddit for a vote was Wishiwashi. Wishiwashi is a very interesting Pokemon with a unique signature ability and a Passive with some potential for interesting interactions in this game. Because it has no hidden ability and a Passive ability which is pretty simple in what it does that should make this a relatively easy vote for people to decide on. It has a solid stat spread in its Schooling form but a rough stat spread if you let it get down to its solo form so it definitely wants to keep some Sitrus Berries on it or some other way to make sure its HP stays above 25%. It's also worth noting that if you fuse Wishiwashi with it as the first Pokemon it will never go into its Schooling form. If you fuse it second so it keeps its ability it will function normally.
(Please note that Pokemon with Mega/Dynamax evolutions will be tiered as one Pokemon and not tiered separately for their Mega/Dynamax form. Different variants such as Alolan Persian vs. Kanto Persian will be tiered separately however.)

S tier: Top tier, can make or break your entire run, essentially the cream of the crop
A tier: really strong but not quite top tier, maybe slightly outclassed or has a slight weakness holding it back

C tier: usually early-mid game Mons, ones you don't really want to take to end game if you can avoid it, usually pretty decently glaring weakness but something redeeming enough to keep from F tier

If I don’t add a weapon mod to the leveled list does it become worthless as I level up, and if so can I change this later? Thanks for any answers yall.
