2024.05.15 04:54 tempmailgenerator Resolving "The File is Corrupt and Cannot Be Opened" Error for .xls and .doc Attachments in Episerver with MimeKit

Solving Attachment Corruption Issues in Episerver

When integrating email functionalities within Episerver applications, developers often rely on the MimeKit nuget package for its robust handling of MIME types and email attachments. However, a peculiar issue arises when users attempt to open .xls and .doc file attachments sent from such applications: the dreaded "The file is corrupt and cannot be opened" error message. This problem not only hampers the user experience but also poses a significant challenge for developers striving to ensure seamless document sharing and communication through their applications.
The root of this issue generally traces back to the way MimeKit encodes and attaches files to the email, coupled with how certain email clients and programs interpret these MIME types. Addressing this error requires a deep dive into the nuances of MIME encoding, attachment handling, and potentially adjusting how these files are packaged and sent within the Episerver framework. By understanding and troubleshooting these key areas, developers can find effective solutions to maintain the integrity of .xls and .doc attachments, ensuring they open flawlessly for the end-users.
Command / Package Description
MimeKit A .NET library for working with MIME messages and email attachments.
MimeMessage Represents an email message that can be sent using MimeKit.
AttachmentCollection.Add Adds an attachment to an email message.
ContentType Specifies the MIME type of the email attachment.

Troubleshooting Attachment Issues in Episerver

The challenge of dealing with "The file is corrupt and cannot be opened" error in Episerver when sending .xls and .doc files as email attachments using MimeKit stems from a complex interplay of MIME types, file encodings, and the security settings of email clients. Typically, this error arises not because the file itself is corrupt, but rather due to the way the email client interprets the MIME encoding of the attachment. Email clients like Microsoft Outlook have strict security settings that scrutinize attachments more rigorously, especially for formats prone to carrying malware, such as .xls and .doc files. When these files are encoded or attached improperly, it triggers the client's protective mechanisms, leading to the corruption error.
To mitigate this issue, developers must ensure that attachments are encoded in a manner that is compatible with the broadest range of email clients. This involves setting the correct MIME type for each attachment and using base64 encoding to ensure that binary data is transmitted over the email protocols without corruption. Additionally, ensuring that the MimePart ContentType is explicitly set to match the file type can help prevent misinterpretation by email clients. Implementing these steps requires a thorough understanding of MIME standards and a careful approach to testing with various email clients to ensure compatibility. Ultimately, the goal is to ensure that users can open attachments seamlessly, regardless of their email provider, thereby enhancing the reliability and professionalism of communications sent through Episerver applications.

Adding Attachments Correctly with MimeKit

C# programming language
using MimeKit; MimeMessage message = new MimeMessage(); message.From.Add(new MailboxAddress("Sender Name", "sender@example.com")); message.To.Add(new MailboxAddress("Recipient Name", "recipient@example.com")); message.Subject = "Your Subject Here"; var bodyBuilder = new BodyBuilder(); // Add the body text bodyBuilder.TextBody = "This is the body of the email."; // Create the attachment var attachment = new MimePart("application", "vnd.ms-excel") { Content = new MimeContent(File.OpenRead("path/to/youfile.xls"), ContentEncoding.Default), ContentDisposition = new ContentDisposition(ContentDisposition.Attachment), ContentTransferEncoding = ContentEncoding.Base64, FileName = Path.GetFileName("path/to/youfile.xls") }; // Add attachment to the message bodyBuilder.Attachments.Add(attachment); message.Body = bodyBuilder.ToMessageBody();

Understanding MimeKit for Email Attachments

Handling email attachments in applications, particularly when dealing with traditional formats like .xls and .doc files, presents unique challenges. These challenges are compounded when utilizing libraries like MimeKit within the Episerver framework. MimeKit is designed to facilitate the creation, manipulation, and sending of MIME-encoded messages, making it a powerful tool for developers. However, the "The file is corrupt and cannot be opened" error that users encounter when trying to open attachments sent through MimeKit-integrated applications can be perplexing. This error often results from discrepancies in MIME type handling, encoding methods, or how email clients interpret attachments' MIME types. Ensuring that attachments are properly encoded and that their MIME types are correctly set is crucial for compatibility across different email clients.
Moreover, security measures implemented by email clients, particularly those targeting office file formats due to their vulnerability to malware, can exacerbate these issues. Developers must navigate these challenges by adhering to best practices in MIME encoding and attachment handling. This includes using base64 encoding for binary files, accurately setting the ContentType property of attachments, and rigorously testing email functionality across various clients. Understanding and implementing these practices can significantly reduce the incidence of errors and improve the user experience, ensuring that attachments are accessible and secure.

FAQs on Email Attachments in Episerver Using MimeKit

  1. Question: Why do I get "The file is corrupt and cannot be opened" error with MimeKit attachments?
  2. Answer: This error often occurs due to incorrect MIME encoding or because the email client's security settings flag the attachment as unsafe, especially if MIME types are not properly set.
  3. Question: How can I ensure my attachments do not get flagged as corrupt?
  4. Answer: Ensure attachments are properly encoded, use base64 encoding for binary files, and set the correct ContentType for each attachment.
  5. Question: Are .xls and .doc files more prone to this error?
  6. Answer: Yes, due to their susceptibility to malware, email clients have stricter security checks for these file types, leading to more frequent errors.
  7. Question: Can I send .xls and .doc files safely using MimeKit?
  8. Answer: Yes, by ensuring proper MIME type setting and encoding, you can minimize errors and safely send these files.
  9. Question: Does MimeKit support HTML email bodies?
  10. Answer: Yes, MimeKit supports HTML content, allowing for rich text email bodies alongside attachments.
  11. Question: How do I add multiple attachments to an email with MimeKit?
  12. Answer: Use the Attachments collection of the BodyBuilder class to add multiple attachments.
  13. Question: Can MimeKit handle inline attachments?
  14. Answer: Yes, MimeKit can manage inline attachments, enabling images or files to be displayed within the email body.
  15. Question: Is MimeKit compatible with all email servers?
  16. Answer: MimeKit is designed to be server-agnostic, focusing on MIME standards, making it broadly compatible with email servers.
  17. Question: How does MimeKit improve email security?
  18. Answer: MimeKit emphasizes correct MIME practices and encoding, enhancing security by reducing the risk of corrupted or malicious attachments.

Mastering Email Attachments in Episerver with MimeKit

As we conclude, it's clear that overcoming the "The file is corrupt and cannot be opened" error in Episerver applications requires a nuanced understanding of MIME types, encoding, and the intricacies of email client security. MimeKit serves as a powerful ally in this endeavor, offering the tools necessary for developers to ensure their attachments reach the recipient as intended. Through diligent application of best practices in MIME encoding and attachment handling, developers can enhance the robustness and reliability of their email functionalities. Furthermore, the importance of thorough testing across various email clients cannot be overstated, as it ensures that all users have a consistent and positive experience. Ultimately, the key to success lies in the careful balancing of security and usability, ensuring that email attachments are both safe and accessible. This journey through MimeKit's capabilities and the resolution of common attachment issues not only enhances our technical toolkit but also underscores the ongoing evolution of email communication in the digital age.

2024.05.15 04:51 thingswillgetbettter Living at home for the summer with strict Asian parents

I'm 20 years old in college home for the summer, and I can't do this.
I have first-gen, incredibly strict Indian parents. My high school experience with them was awful. Think of all the cliches--needed to be the best academically (ended up being valedictorian of my school and getting a full tuition scholarship), no freedom at all (curfew was 8pm, no leaving the house more than 2x a week even if it was a club, they didn't think clubs or extracurriculars were important), no driving (even though I got my license at 17), physical and mental abuse, threats, etc etc. To make matters worse, I ended up losing all my friends my senior year. The only person that stuck with me was my boyfriend (secret, of course), and we're still together (4 years now).
College was the best experience for me. I made all new friends (except they all live 2+ hours away from my home sadly) and my bf and I are making long distance work. Coming home last summer was fine because I was only there for a month because I got accepted to this research program which I begged them to let me go to, and they did.
This summer, it has only been 1.5 weeks and I'm losing it. My bf just came back and I always make an excuse to see him, that I'm seeing my old "friends" and they don't question it too much but my curfew is still 9 PM. I came home last night at 9:35 PM and I got yelled at, slapped twice, and screamed at about how I have been spending too much money. I literally worked 2 jobs in college last year and have a virtual summer internship. This is MY money. I'm still not allowed to drive, despite having had my license for 3 years now. When I am allowed to drive, it's only like 3 select locations (all no highway) and I have to use our small, crappy car. I need to do shadowing this summer because I'm a pre-dental student, but I'm not allowed to literally drive to do my shadowing hours. My mom takes the small car to work (she refuses to drive anything else) and my dad works from home so we have the big car completely free but I'm just not allowed to drive it at all.
These are just the recent things but there's so many things that I can't do. I've missed out on trips with my friends, concerts with them, etc. My friends (like a group of 15 people are going) recently invited me to this concert in one of my friend's hometowns 2 hours away and offered me a place to sleep but ofc I can't go! I even tried asking and reasoned out how I would get there via public transit and I just got laughed at. It's all my money, too.
The worst part is, even though I've had the best college experience (because they go to bed at 9-10 PM they don't check my location that late, so I've been able to party and finally have that taste of a normal life) and met the most amazing people, none of them can understand this at all. Most of my friends are Indian/Asian and I know a lot of people but everyone I'm close to just doesn't have this problem. I feel bad ranting to them because they don't know what to say or do. Even when they do try, it's things like "try to sneak out" (cameras, motion detectors, etc) or "better to ask for forgiveness rather than permission" like they don't fundamentally understand how bad it could get if I did that.
I'm just stuck. I don't know what to do. I don't know when I can go out with my bf next. I even have to ask permission to go on a walk/run around our neighborhood and need to be back my dinner and can't stay longer than 1 hour on the dot (dinner is at 7:45 PM).
I don't know what to do. I can't get a job because first of all, even though they complain about money to me all the time, they wouldn't let me get a job because it's too much freedom and driving. Secondly, I'm studying for the DAT (Dental Admission Test) this summer and I can barely even concentrate at home because the second it turns 3 PM the TV starts blasting and they're always yelling at each other. I tried to ask if I can go to the library to study and focus, but again they yelled at me about the car thing and then how it would be a waste of gas money and how I can study at home and how I should be waking up at 6-7 AM to study if the house gets loud around 3 PM.
I hope someone on here can understand, even partly, my frustration. I wonder oftentimes what I have done wrong to make them treat me like this. I have talked to them about all of this countless times, and I am currently ignoring them both (only saying yes/no) while also trying to do everything "perfectly" so they don't have anything to yell at me about because they're mad about me coming home at 9:35.
Please help. I just don't want to live like this anymore. I fear this will be my forever.
If I get into my state dental school, my dad said he would want me to commute because it's cheaper but I would be living at home. I would end myself probably. I can't even think about that right now.

2024.05.15 04:40 Funny_Bet_2820 Gangstalkers Keep Coming Into My Home to Spread Mold

Gangstalkers Keep Coming Into My Home to Spread Mold
The gangstalkers keep purposely freezing my phone so I won't type this. They keep breaking into my brand new apartment when no one is there to spread this fungus/mold around my home and my belongings. I've been using antifungal soap and using pills that lookoutfacharlie suggested and I saw reduced symptoms. I was going to do the detox but the gangstalkers are trying to stop me by breaking into my home and make my cleaning meaningless when they can come in here and spread fungus everywhere so that they can target me longer.
I tried using doorknob locks on the doorknob but apparently they can get in my home with anything that has a key lock. It probably won't matter if I were to a fob (or fog?) I'm getting reolink go plus cameras and I'm waiting on the sim card too in the mail. They did this several times and I noticed an increase in Targeting if I don't clean my home that they keep breaking into. I saw the stains on the floor that I already cleaned the reddish stain that could be fungus on the wall and black mold. Both on the floor, walls, and even on my mattress pad. Lookoutfacharlie stated that you'll see red, black, and blue specks as you can see in the tissue picture. I need advice on how to secure my home. I don't want to clean everything over again if they keep coming in here and ruin the hard work I had to do, especially when I was thinking of getting out of this.
Also, I saw white stuff on my tablet, which is also on my water bottle, kitchen and on my black bags which have clothes in it.
Thank you for your time. And don't give up Empowered Individuals

2024.05.15 04:29 EccentricSage81 usb4 type C worse than cheap usb ethernet lan landline1900s phones? (rj11/45/cat8e whatevs)

Ethernet has landline 1900s phones two pairs wires reserved in the spec sheet its 8 or so wires when crimping the ends uses like two with one for ground and one seemingly empty and then has two for phone and some unused, with old 10/100 baseT coax with terminating ends exactly like optical or coax 90s cable TV with optical fiber 99% of the way just your block has coax to the rest which uses the 'same'DOCSIS data over cable standards as fibre optic.. just slightly worse latency and bandwidth is calculated by latency things like wifi lan has like 11 channels or 15 channels of frequency which optical calls wavelengths of light. A 2015 or around there linus tech tips video of him going to a swedish lan party called dreamhack had a bunch of multiple redundant 8Terabit or was it bytes of fibre optic internet they explained with light having 7 colors but having 8terabytes of bandwidth with different wavelengths of light called frequencys or a better term for optics is known as LASER ARRAYS of light at fixed frequencys that often plugs into the PC via ethernet cables or whatever for a gamer lan party or home/residential or small businesses at realistically within budget of anything with enough users to require that bandwidth or 'web hosting or web servers' you dont need to be an undersea cable or international link with 200terabits plus for an internet exchange to your main CBD or the fastest like the netherlands IX...
So the problem im trying to solve is, here in australia we got our undersea cables done wrong they kept breaking and we didnt have a navy or defense force securing our countrys communications to prevent war crimes and keep us connected to the global banking systems or whatever.. and then when our biggest telcos cable or fibre all had dialup speeds for around 2 weeks in the early years 2000s to force us to pay other countrys to connect to their links and be ' end of the line' maybe paywalled or proxied off the internet randsomewared to connect to and borrow bandwidth from other countries satellites and other countries undersea link cables which truly were indestructible to any cruise liner ships anchors whatever being flexible giant steel braided cables big as a CAR when australia finally paid to lay small sections of that stuff to link up to others and not pay randsome to internet butt bandits or have private businesses and multi nationals run their own links and ignore the public our lack of a defense force actually let somalian pirates literally somehow pick up and walk off with our expensive undersea car sized cables filled with a few arms thick of hair thin fibre optics which is cheapest clear resin enamels plastics about $3 not sure if USD per kilometer and resembles modern glass/glazing. How does anybody steal that stuff without people noticing like you cant just load it onto a truck and drive away? or a boat? if only satellites and some sort of defense organization existed to prevent us from being impersonated or whatever.. So now in australia ANYTHING with words like gigabit costs a fortune for a mainboard or switch or ethernet hub.. but the ancient 1900s 10/100 telephone land line wires of ethernet 10/100 clock in at a whopping 13 or so mhz sometimes 27.. and 60 or more mhz for like gigabits and whatever it increases shockingly fast with each mhz clock cycle as its units of work over time in nano seconds or zeptoseconds you see billionths of a second nano second RAM and PC with windows realtime kernel actually uses like ryzen hardware negative latency faster than reality freely syncing with any device in the universe and fixed mhz frequency bus can drive like 50 to 100 or thousands of GPU's and HDDs and monitors or whatever from the one modern multicore PC or whatever.. 90s AMD business server still holds world records for most connected devices though it had stackable CPUs opteron and would have used infinity cache type stuff probably software 3dnow and evolving game worlds tech of 80s and 90s AMD gaming evolved advertising.
So in australia anything gigabits costs hundreds of dollars for a switch router some thousands for lots of ports.. but its the shittiest weakest bandwidth ever with mhz and performance miles short of a raspberry pie or whatever. I had to pay a fortune for a mainboard with 10gigabit LAN port and everytime i got a high speed LAN port its been broken or missing so some pricks can sell ebay routers or switches for thousands here.. not knowing why its so expensive is youre paying fortunes for any real bandwidth because australia has to pay literal somalian pirates for their internet connections or privately owned businesses like telstra for access to their private links and glares at countries like new zealand and hawaii for being super technologically superior.. a cheap USB ethernet adaptor costs under 10 bucks on ebay or whatever and is maybe gigabit and your switches and routers 90% of the time you want the cheapest UNMANAGED switch possible. Yet the mainboard i recently purchased ASUS pro art creator x670E i recall had an issue with some asshats trying to steal pathetic measly 40gigabit USB4 chips from all the boards at the computer store to sell on EBay as other junk, when anything in the universe with an M.2 ULTRA slot does 40gigabits since PCI express 3.0/4.0 as PCI express 3.0 SSD drives famously use a specific I/O controller chip which gives them 38gigabits of the ultra M.2 slots 40gigabits of bandwidth. But for a couple years when AMD had pci express 4.0 and better than M.2 ultra intel was playing catch up on PCI express 3.0 and still had regular m.2 in all their boards until AMD was ready for pci express 5.0 my friend on intel bought the same NVME drives and complained they had corruption errors or issues i later learned his board wasnt fast enough and he was maybe trying to use the samsung magician RAM disk and enable NVME features and functions intel maybe did not yet support.
So.. why is USB 4 so many years late and why is it so dang expensive when terabits of ethernet or anything optical is like the cheapest stuff ever and comes with every internet connection since the 90s at the lowest cheapest mhz and 1900s land line wire telephones ever, remember digital isnt a physical thing and everythings literally analog with a sensor or multimeter whatever mathematically translating it to a graph or algebra equation mapping it into different values digitally +10 -10 whatever using microphones or camera sensor whatever. the gigabits tax and uhh LAN port taxes for dumb gay australians being literally see it via satellite outerspace levels dumb and gay astrogaylian should not apply to the cheapest of raspberry pie free 3d print or laser CNC yourself something computery like risc V for the cheapest of USB flash drives or memory cards etc.
I get intel pretends to have invented court ordered USB to probe their hardware after it was proven to have used other peoples code and chips by the chip makers and them selling computers with keyboard and mouse hardwired in so you bought a whole new computer when a key broke on the keyboard couldnt replace them.. and every other device had USB but theirs didnt free open standard and it kinda being the only way to connect any device in the universe and freely sync with it (mics/phones whatever).
why is 1900s phone tech ethernet so dang expensive to go from 20mhz ranges to 80 or whatever mhz ranges or use something very similar to 90s optical audio SPDIF output or anything remotely like a laser in australia? and who would be dumb and gay enough to be so financially retarded as to think that USB 4 was expensive or special as to steal it? am i... missing something?
also before you complain, but ethernets not the same as USB you cant power over ethernet or use your houses electrical wires as ethernet. You also cant use ethernet for monitors or displays, and its not like you can extend HDMI range limit of a about 10 to 15 meters by swapping its ethernet wires with optical ones for it to maintain its HDMI 0 latency spec or type C USB 0 latency spec. USB lets you connect heaps of devices you cant do that with an internet or ethernet for things like keyboard and mice or monitors or whatever. I understand what you mean power over ethernet or PPOE standards suck theres no way those are a thing. using devices over the internet and not the intranet who does that? thats so dumb. remote administration, theres no such thing youre mistaking malware or rootkits im sure. you cant connect a heap of devices up or entire computers to a ethernet port thats the dumbest gayest thing i've ever heard in my entire life! My gaydar is going off and it looks like the wifi symbol.

2024.05.15 04:25 LeaveEyeSix Anyone a little worried about a Saber developed sequel?

I’m really trying not to be a downer because I am very excited for the game but I keep going back and forth in my head about pre-ordering the game because I would like to show my support for the 40k community but I’m actually a little shook about Saber Interactive developing this one.
The thing about Saber is they’ve virtually never produced a game that rates above 7/10 and it’s basically a coin flip that they produce games of that caliber at all. A good portion of their library has middling reviews. Well, I’ve played a few in the mid 2000s and 2010s and looking at their development library as a whole the first word that comes to mind is “derivative”. They make games similar to other games of their time but worse, somehow riding on the backs of giants and producing an inferior product with the advantageous foreknowledge of good game design. That’s not a great sign.
Their only real claim to fame is working on the Halo CE Anniversary and Master Chief Collection which definitely were not fan favorites on release but did eventually get much better. How much of that can be attributed to Saber’s involvement, I don’t know because they were part of a larger collective development team working with Microsoft Studios and 343 Industries. In general, they seem to be a company like Rebellion that specializes in porting games over but when it comes to making original/ licensed IPs they make lukewarm games or just kind of drop the ball.
I can tell they’re using some variant of the World War Z engine to pump out large hoardes of Tyranids on screen at one time and while that looks cool I have to wonder how intelligent the AI actually are because the AI in WWZ was not impressive and the enemy variety was sorely lacking. How much of that is lack of creativity versus engine limitations is kind of what I’m curious and worried about. I’ve also noticed in the 30 minute gameplay demo video they posted that a large portion of the game is combat-interrupting cutscenes/ setpieces. It seems like 5 minutes of fighting consistently gets interrupted by 3 more minutes of cutscene dialogue or forcefully panning the camera over to a point of interest. I felt like SM1 did a pretty good job of letting the levels run their course and maybe having a cutscene or 2. Don’t get me wrong, SM2 looks absolutely gorgeous but I almost think the devs feel that forcing the player to stop and gawk at the marvel they’ve created is somehow enriching the gameplay. It feels a lot more like dopamine edging by having these intense playable moments and completely turning off the adrenaline by having Titus gaze at some large structure or ship overhead collapsing, or having the crew stop to converse with some besieged Guardsman unit. Leave it up to the individual agency of the players to stop and gaze in wild wonder if that’s something they appreciate but otherwise keep your foot on the gas I’d say. What makes games intense is that they often don’t let up. The demo was just a bunch of tension and release in quick succession and I honestly was hoping more for a game with pacing like DOOM Eternal/ WH40K Boltgun. I know this game is not a boomer shooter but I’d like there to be good rhythm and pacing. I’d trade high octane co-op gameplay over visually/ technically impressive sightseeing any day.
I also noticed the game seems to feature the same linearity of SM1, which if I have one gripe about SM1, it is definitely that the game is practically an “on-rails” experience. There is very little in the way of freedom of exploration and almost all the “hidden” servitors and ammo caches were in painfully obvious places because they were often in the only other place the game would allow you to explore. It would be nice to be able to take divergent paths in levels or have larger arena style combat areas with rewards and secrets strewn about. Put a gun in a far-off artillery crater or stash a mounted gun up in bunkers that you can rip off the mount like in SM1. Also I would like secrets to be a little more thought out and rewarding. SM1 rarely utilized using melee weapons to break away barricades exposing secret areas and never utilized switches or levers to open secret pathways. Verticality was also sparsely used not only in general but definitely for the sake of hiding a secret way up top somewhere. I don’t know exactly what I expect from this I just mean to say I would want the levels opened up a little bit, and for rewards to be in places for players willing to take the time to find them. It would also be nice to have narrative setpieces that tell a story in secret areas like the Fallout Universe does. Let a secret path lead us to a scene of carnage or a tragedy or maybe even an ambush. So far we haven’t seen any of that.
I’m not writing off the game just yet but I would really like to be proven wrong about some of the things I noticed from the gameplay video. It’s hard to be excited in the age of modern gaming especially when we talk about preorders. I’d honestly like them to talk more about the beta key distribution date. I don’t even necessarily need to play the beta personally, but it would be nice to see a little more gameplay in the form of a single complete mission from start to finish.
What are your guys’ thoughts? Am I just being a pessimist? What concerns do you have? Are you guys excited? Am I worrying about nothing? I’d love to hear your feedback.

2024.05.15 04:19 the-lurking-merchant What the hell is an SR22 and what do i do now?

This is kind of a long story but i'll try my best to keep it short. I live in the state of Florida, Orange County.
I (21yo) got into a car accident in November after only having my car registered to my name for 3 or so months, i was under my dad's insurance and the whole issue got resolved around March of this year (2024). My license got suspended because of my car accident but I didnt get to reinstate it. My car was deemed a total loss, it got towed and sold to the company.
I bought a car last week because my cousins coworker was selling it at a good price, I have the title and everything but because im a new driver, my accident, and suspended license the cheapest insurance i found is almost 500 dollars a month, with an initial payment of 679 dollars (i cant pay for this). I was going to get my license reinstated today but i was unable to due to lack of transportation. Apparently i was put under an SR22 because my old car is still in my name and i never turned in my tag to the state (I didnt know that was a thing, im not originally from the US) so even if i get my new car all settled and registered that old car is still to my name.
I dont know if this makes any sense, i dont quite understand anything, im very new to this and no one taught me how these things work, i didnt even know what an SR22 was until a couple of minutes ago.
Any advice? Edit: i was not at fault in the accident and was given 3200 for the car along with 1500 for medical expenses. i thought that might be important to note

2024.05.15 04:12 dancinggtherapist This field is hard

For context I am a pre licensed clinician. In one week it’ll be one year since I graduated with my masters. I started a new job weeks after graduating & working towards my post masters hours to get licensed. Ive learned a lot in a years time since graduation. The job I had out of grad school was toxic. All they cared about was productivity = how much money I was earning or losing for the company. I picked up on this pretty quick & burn out started settling in month 3/4 & I resigned after 8 months. While I was there I found some great colleagues for support…that was the best part of the job alongside my clients that I found a rhythm with & stuck with me. One of my colleagues I grew close with & I guess you could say we trauma bonded over being new in this field, the burnout we started experiencing, & how to incorporate self care/survive in a toxic work environment. I’m thankful I had this colleague & the lunch dates we shared, time outside of work exploring what we liked & needed for support since our job was horrible offering help to us pre licensed providers. However, their burnout got bad & went on and unpaid leave & I was still working there the last few months before resigning & I guess reflecting back on it now I’m learning how hard it is in the field as a provider & colleague. I definitely overstepped with boundaries by going above & beyond to help this colleague out & learning more about their mental health issues than I should’ve & disclosing my own to them— to the point we both trauma bonded over our passive suicidality and the current sociopolitical issues in the world that influx these feelings/symptoms. I’m glad we both had our own individual therapists for further guidance but i look back & feel like at times we were giving therapy to each other. Now we’re both at different jobs—difference paths. & I still want to connect & offer support to them but maybe less clinical & more friendship wise or vise versa idk but with more boundaries in place this time around & I’ve been ghosted by this person. Alll texts sent are left on delivered… I see why they say your coworkers aren’t your friends & keep it professional but it’s hard when we’re in this field that’s so personal & counte/transference occurs & also being in a shit work environment too you need people to rely on but it’s wild. It makes me not want to get close to another colleague again but obviously this is a field where we consult too so I guess I’m learning what my boundaries are in this process…
All & all I’m glad I have a better work environment now, less worries about productivity as I continue to figure out who I am as a clinician & what frameworks work best depending on the clients needs & the training I have/experience. & I have a better sense of what agencies to avoid that have business/corporate America interests as a priority versus bettering peoples mental health & helping clinicians feel supported too in midst of an active collapses in multiple systems & the intersectionality of it all that not only impacts the marginalized folx I support week by week but also myself & how fucked it can be to worry about profits over offering adequate & affordable mental health services.

2024.05.15 04:04 rem_2222 It’s back…

If anyone cares to read my story and offer input I would so appreciate it!!!
My symptoms started in December 2018 around my birthday. I went out to my favorite restaurant for dinner and after a glass of sparkling wine I completely lost my appetite, my nose started running, teeth chattering, and I suddenly had IBS symptoms out of nowhere. I felt this immense dread for no reason. I was so confused as it was a low key bday dinner that I had been looking forward to…
These same exact symptoms continued and everyone thought it was anxiety related. I do have anxiety but it’s not something where my body just starts having these weird symptoms seemingly out of nowhere. I went to a naturopath and she diagnosed me with histamine intolerance. I was pretty strict with the diet and alcohol was completely off limits for about the next year and a half. I was also majorly triggered by exercise. I used to go HARD at the gym, especially cardio, and it became apparent that exercising vigorously would make me feel exhausted and nauseous for the rest of the day. So I stopped the HIIT workouts too.
By September of 2021 I was starting to feel better and started playing tennis, which became my passion. I felt completely cured of the histamine intolerance. I was drinking red wine again, eating gluten and dairy, playing lots of tennis multiple times per week, and was just feeling better than I had in years.
Fast forward to January 2024. I hyper extended my shoulder which led to frozen shoulder, which I am still in the thick of. I started getting patches of psoriasis on my torso, which was brand new. Then while on a trip in late March, I started feeling that awful feeling again. I was freezing cold even though it wasn’t cold out, my nose started running like crazy, and I completely lost my appetite. I felt that all consuming sense of dread. It’s never a panic attack, but like a horrible prolonged feeling where all I can do is crawl into bed and remain in the fetal position. It feels like my nervous system is broken.
So now I’m back to being afraid to exercise too much, to eat almost anything, and to stray too far from my home in case I start feeling “sick”, for lack of a better word.
Other issues: Migraines with aura TMJ issues that can make my entire face tighten up and hurt
I just want to live my life. I’m a mom who wants to work outside the home. I feel like I don’t know how to help myself anymore…I will be going to a new naturopath this month but just wanted to know if my story resonates with anyone here, or if anyone has any tips. Also, I am leaving out other personal sources of life trauma and stress that have likely contributed to my issues.
And by the way, does all of this even sound like histamine intolerance??
Thank you again for reading.

Can't insert row into table please help ;-;
Hey guys, I hope you are all doing well! I am currently facing an issue that idk how to fix. Here is the error: new row violates row-level security policy for table "Posts".
Tech I am using:
  • Next js 14
  • Supabase
  • PropelAuth for authentication.
I am following this guide (https://www.propelauth.com/post/authentication-with-nextjs-13-and-supabase-app-router).
I created a supabaseClient.ts file:
import {createClient, SupabaseClientOptions} from '@supabase/supabase-js' import {UserFromToken} from '@propelauth/nextjs/client'; import jwt from "jsonwebtoken"; export default async function supabaseClient(user: UserFromToken) { if (!user) { throw new Error("User not authenticated"); } const jwtPayload = { "sub": user.userId, "email": user.email, } const supabaseAccessToken = jwt.sign(jwtPayload, process.env.NEXT_SUPABASE_JWT_SECRET "", { expiresIn: '15 minutes' }) const options: SupabaseClientOptions = { global: { headers: { Authorization: `Bearer ${supabaseAccessToken}`, } }, auth: { persistSession: false, } } return createClient( process.env.NEXT_PUBLIC_SUPABASE_URL ?? "", process.env.NEXT_PUBLIC_SUPABASE_ANON_KEY ?? "", options ) }
I have a route.ts file at app/api//post:
export async function POST(request: Request) { try { const user = await getUserOrRedirect(); const supabase = await supabaseClient(user); const insertData = await request.json(); console.log("INSERTDATA:", insertData); const { data, error } = await supabase .from("Posts") .insert([insertData]) .select(); handleErrorResponse(error); console.log("DATA:", data); return NextResponse.json(data, { status: 201 }); } catch (error: any) { handleJSErrorResponse(error); return new Response(JSON.stringify({ error: error.message }), { status: 500, headers: { "Content-Type": "application/json", }, }); } }
I did some logging:
INSERTDATA: { id: 'bc9a409d-27ab-41f3-acaa-c1ca295cfcf1', title: 'baseball', topic: 'sport', thumbnail: '', content: '[{"id":"1","type":"p","children":[{"text":"baseball sport"}]}]', tags: [ 'ball' ], user_id: 'acfacc9a-d279-4d1c-a10e-86b2ae529ddb', created_at: '2024-05-15T01:29:30.774Z' } Supabase error: { code: '42501', details: null, hint: null, message: 'new row violates row-level security policy for table "Posts"' }
The supabase access token and jwt payload token are both defined too (logged).
In supabase, I have the following policy for insert:

2024.05.15 03:59 WinterPirate8109 Need advice for motorbike accident.

I accidentally hit another motorbike but we decided to settle it with money. But later on when I'm talking about sending them the money to pay for the damage they change their mind and ask even more money so I disagree to follow up with their BS since I check the price for the repair(Brand new replacement and same type as the original) and I gave more than enough. I refused to budge on the added amount but will I get into trouble from the police or get a record in brgy?
Unfortunately I don't have any license. The money that I was going to pay for them was supposed to be used to get my own license. Also they are the one who's driving recklessly swinging left and right and they suddenly cut off in front of me. But unfortunately there's no video on how the hit happened. I also don't have a choice then because they are a rider group. I got pressured by a bunch of them when I tried to argue. My bike also got a bigger damage than the one I hit.
It's been 15 days since then, what they only got is my name, Facebook account and license plate. Will I get trouble with the police? Will the police be able to tow my motorbike? Right now they are pressuring me again for a signature for money for the repair and other damages. I haven't paid anything since I refused to pay anything else of the agreed amount in our first talk. So I need advice fast.

2024.05.15 03:51 tempmailgenerator Implementing Geolocation Capture in Google Forms via Google Script

Capturing User Location in Google Forms Seamlessly

Integrating geolocation functionality into Google Forms can significantly enhance the data collection process, enabling a more dynamic and context-aware approach to surveys and forms. This capability allows form creators to automatically capture the geographical location of respondents without requiring manual input or verification of email addresses. The process leverages Google Script, a powerful tool that extends the functionality of Google Apps, including Forms. By embedding custom scripts into Google Forms, developers can programmatically retrieve geolocation data at the moment of form submission, enriching the dataset with valuable location-based insights.
The application of geolocation data in Google Forms is vast, ranging from academic research to customer feedback and beyond. This approach not only streamlines the data collection process but also opens up new possibilities for analyzing and utilizing the collected data. For instance, understanding the geographic distribution of survey responses can help in tailoring services or products to specific regions. However, implementing this feature requires a careful consideration of privacy and consent, ensuring that respondents are aware of the data being collected and have agreed to share their location information. The following guide aims to demonstrate how to seamlessly integrate geolocation capture into Google Forms using Google Script, without the complexities of email verification or additional permissions.
Command Description
HtmlService.createHtmlOutputFromFile() Creates and serves HTML content from a file in the Google Apps Script project.
google.script.run Allows client-side JavaScript to call server-side Apps Script functions.
Session.getActiveUser().getEmail() Retrieves the email address of the current user (not used for geolocation, but relevant for context).
Geolocation API Web API used to access the geographic location of a device.

Deep Dive into Geolocation Integration

Integrating geolocation into Google Forms through Google Script offers a compelling way to enhance data collection by embedding geographical intelligence into responses. This technique allows form creators to capture the respondent's location data automatically, adding a new layer of depth to the insights that can be gleaned from the responses. The process involves the use of client-side JavaScript for geolocation detection, which is then passed to the server side via Google Script. This seamless integration bridges the gap between simple form responses and geospatial data analytics, enabling a myriad of applications such as market research, event planning, and even educational activities. By leveraging the native geolocation API available in modern web browsers, developers can ensure that this functionality is broadly accessible without the need for external plugins or tools.
The application of geolocation data capture in Google Forms transcends mere data collection; it facilitates a nuanced understanding of demographic distributions, behavioral patterns, and logistical planning. For businesses, this can translate into targeted marketing strategies and optimized service delivery based on geographic insights. In educational contexts, it offers a unique approach to field studies, allowing for the collection of data points that are automatically tagged with location information. However, it is crucial to navigate the ethical considerations associated with geolocation data, including privacy concerns and consent. Transparent communication with respondents about what data is being collected and how it will be used is essential to maintaining trust and compliance with data protection regulations.

Integrating Geolocation in Google Forms

Google Apps Script & JavaScript

Enhancing Forms with Geolocation Insights

Implementing geolocation functionality into Google Forms via Google Script is an innovative approach to gather enriched data from form respondents. This method not only captures traditional form responses but also collects valuable geographical information, providing a multifaceted view of the data. The integration of geolocation enhances the utility of Google Forms in various sectors, including research, retail, and social sciences, by enabling the collection of location-specific insights. For instance, researchers can track environmental data submissions across different regions, while retailers can understand the geographical distribution of customer feedback, tailoring services to meet regional demands more effectively.
The technical aspect of integrating geolocation involves utilizing browser-based geolocation APIs in conjunction with Google Script to process and store location data alongside form responses. This process is transparent to the user, requiring their consent to share location data, thereby adhering to privacy standards. The approach not only enriches the data collected through forms but also opens up new avenues for analyzing data through a geographical lens. For example, educational institutions can map out student survey responses to better understand regional variations in educational needs or interests. The ability to automatically collect and analyze location data adds a powerful tool to the arsenal of data analysts and form creators alike.

2024.05.15 03:45 Aggietallboy NG+ Turbo Mode - SPOILER HEAVY

OK, for those of you coming back, I've done a few posts about "the perfect Money/XP base," but wanted to cover Getting through an NG+ as fast as possible for getting you your starborn powers and bugging the hell out:
So follow along :)
1) Land on Vectera 2) Run down to where you pulled the artifact, hitting Elemental Pull all along the way -- depending on how much you did for geology, you'll have a nice cache of Calumite and Beryllium. 3) Grab the digipick in the side room. 4) Fast Travel to your ship, and off to the Lodge! 5) Do a quicksave before you enter the lodge -- you can save scum and reset the weapon Sarah's about to give you as well as the inventory downstairs -- once you enter the lodge they're fixed for the rest of the playthrough. 6) Talk to Sarah, get your cutter, weapon and 25K credits. Put her in your ship as crew, do the same for Vasco. You can get Sarah to follow you if you want, or you can just solo everything -- either way. 7) Go downstairs, collect everything, unlock the Mark 1 Spacesuit, and grab it, grab the book from Cora's room 8) While you're there, hit the stove and the pharma lab -- you can't make anything yet, but go ahead and "Track the items" for the following - I usually plan on making 10-20 of each, and then combining bandages/healpaste/antibiotic into the Analgesic Poultice, so only one thing to cure most: Bandages Heal Paste Immobilizer Antibiotic Injector All the "hearts" - Black Hole, Giant etc... Panopticon Paramour
Go to the stove and track: Galaxy Lo Mein Nebula Wat Papardelle Bolognese Stellar Kebabs Star Cluster Marsala 5 of each should be plenty - for me I only really ever use them on Buried Temple.
9) Go to the Eye - Talk to Vlad, get the "assigned" temple, and the list of artifact locations -- it's ALWAYS the same six locations. 10) Go to the Bessel III-a location, but DO NOT LAND THERE 11) Bessel III-b's Temple will spawn (unless of course, it's the one that was assigned already) 12) Go do the temple on Bessel III-b 13) Go to an anomaly if it didn't "autodetect" and scan it, and grab up all the calumite with Elemental Pull 14) Use my "Free Money Guide" Post to find and build the outpost here -- at this point you probably won't build the base quite yet, as you haven't done any shopping yet. 15) If you go to Neon to shop, and you haven't done any detours, you will probably spawn Sigma on Volii Epsilon -- hit it and grab that power while you're nearby, to make sure it doesn't bug 16) I usually go to Gagarin as Clint often has all the materials necessary. He carries (not TOO rarely) Aldumite Drilling Rigs, which are the key to fast money. Sieghart, Outland, and Jae in New Homestead also carry them sometimes. 17) Build the base 18) Sleep and sell - aim for about 2 Million Creds - if you've built our 6 robots, have max surveying, max outpost stuff, this is 1 24 hour sleep cycle, depending on the mods you may or may not play with, selling all this stuff may take time -- Neon will have your best vendor density for dumping. Remember that you can carry everything in your ship, by dropping it on the floor 19) Time to get the Razorleaf -- why?? because it has a fun mechanic where spacers will freak out, and more importantly, it will ALWAYS have the same ship ID -- this is important if you're willing to use the console to fix shield and target lockon bugs -- you can use a text file and just "bat rlfix" if you always know the ship ID. 20) Go to Sirius Ib -- it will have the HE3 extraction site, and will *almost* always have spacers. One of them SHOULD drop "Secret Outpost" which will start the Mantis questline 21) Go to Denebola 1a and clear the Lair of the Mantis, and claim the Razorleaf - make sure you're looting along the way, even though you don't need creds any more, you still need digipicks to go mo fast. 22) Finish shopping, and get the AGM and Quark Degen from Sieghart in Neon, run next door to Newill for the Gastro D. 23) Go back to your outpost and rebuild the Razorleaf into a dreadnaught24) Make your food and meds -- you'll want 5-10 of each, no more, you won't be here long enough to use them now 25) GOGOGOOGOGO FAST! 26) Go gather the artifacts from the remaining locations. Most of these spots will have a skill magazine, unless you did a perfect, complete NG0, you'll probably be adding a little bit of power by picking each of them up. 27) I use a spreadsheet to track what temple spawns on what planet -- cuz I'm a nerd :) BUT as soon as you pick up an artifact, go grab the power - Alpha, Eta and Sigma are ALWAYS gonna be in this first set, the rest are random. 28) At this point you can go back to the lodge and re-recruit Sam, Barrett and Andreja 27) Oborum -> Masada -> Temple -- all the consumables are nice to make the fight go smoother -- Phased Time is totally your best friend use it early and often, and when you have the Heart consumable you can use it pretty much whenever you want. Panopticon is awesome, and the Nebula Wat makes you go noticeably faster. 28) Talk the Hunter and Emissary down -- ain't nobody got time for that fight! -- Use a Paramour before you open the temple door. 29) Go grab the rest of the temples 30) Off to Unity, rinse and repeat!

2024.05.15 03:39 amd_ak Leasing agent blew up at me over ESA letter [Alaska] Is it possible my application can be denied now?

I am currently in the process of applying to an apartment complex. I have not yet been approved or signed a lease. I don't know if this complex is subject to the FHA (or how to find out?) but they offer subsidized units for low income, and ADA compliant units.
Today I went in to fix a form I had filled out incorrectly. I also brought my ESA letter, vax records and municipality dog license receipt. After filling out the new form, I presented the letter to her.
I did not inform her that I had a dog when I filled out the app initially and dropped off my app fee.
She absolutely blew up. She swore at me, and she called me deceitful. She asked my diagnosis and I told her I have an anxiety disorder. She said anxiety is an excuse and that she'd be calling my doctor. She accused me of faking to avoid paying a pet deposit.
I did my best to remain calm, but I told her the listing said no pets, and I was worried my application would be ignored in favor of another applicant if I had dropped the letter off immediately.
At the end of the meeting she had me pick a move in date, and I told her I was ready ASAP.
An hour or so after I left, she called me and said that I had checked "no" under pets, and asked if I was aware I could be denied for falsifying information. I told her to call me back once she figured out whether I was denied or approved.
Can I be denied if I indicated no pets on the application? I was under the impression that an ESA is not considered a pet.

2024.05.15 03:38 kitastrophe76 I stood up for myself today and am panicking. Seeking emotional support/affirmation so I have the courage to get out of bed tomorrow...

This can be deleted if inappropriate, I've been a long time lurker and honestly can't think of a more supportive and inclusive community that might lend some wisdom or affirmation to help me stay strong...
Creating boundaries as a homeschool survivor in the workplace as an adult is exhilarating and gut wrenching and has left me shaken. Like I've maybe made no progress at all in the last two decades.
I was the firstborn (and only) daughter in a fundamental Christian home by a covert narcissist mother who was the ultimate saint and victim and a traditionally narcissistic father who was absent unless he needed a punching bag, a role my brothers played.
Maintaining the peace and regulating everyone's emotions was an internalized responsibility I understood to be mine by age 7. A large part of my homeschooling involved cooking, cleaning, and parenting my two younger brothers who had gender roles of intolerance and head of household lessons of their own to learn. My younger brother backhanded me for the first time for mouthing off at ten, and I ended up asked to apologize for upsetting him with my attitude problems. For simply having opinions I was the problem child, the sinner. Long story short, lifetime conditioning that keeping people happy and changing myself to keep the peace is fully engrained.
I grew up, broke away, joined the military and thrived, then went to college for political science and then psychology, desperate to understand myself and those around me. I've virtually no contact with anybody in my family, and usually have pretty good personal boundaries. Or thought so.
New job, high stakes, first one that gives me confidence and a sense of fulfillment, the team overall has been amazing, professional, supportive, and doesn't play games. But there are two people that have bearing on this story.
My direct supervisor is a well-meaning but fairly absent and political creature. Highly intelligent, but more interested in everybody getting along than dealing with conflict. He assigned me a trainer when I first started.
She is a master manipulator who pushes all the DARVO, gaslighting, sweet as pie to your face and poison behind your back type who sees me as a pet and personal assistant rather than a coworker who mastered the job quickly and the more independent I become, the more diminishing, controlling, and manipulative she becomes. I almost instantly fell into good daughter behaviors even when I was fully aware I was doing it because she had power over when I could work on my own, even while knowing she was dragging it out because I could do her work as training.
Today she took over a conference I was supposed to be leading, a key step in progressing to being fully qualified, and she took every chance to discredit me in front of my team in the guise of remedial training I don't need and pushing buttons like implying I'm lazy or inattentive or shirking responsibilities.
Enough was enough, I sought advice from a coworker I trust and went to my boss with my concerns. I was articulate, I stood up for myself, let my work and credentials speak for itself. I requested a new trainer. His response was to joke about the honeymoon being over, promised to talk to her. Nothing will be changed except now she'll know I complained. Experience has taught me that "telling" is bad for me.
On the one hand, I'm an HR professional, I know that he can't discuss another employee without talking to them and there are a lot of steps between disciplinary or personnel action from a first complaint (that should have happened weeks ago if I'm being honest). On the other, life experience is viscerally guaranteeing me that I have just made a colossal mistake and that telling on "mom" to "dad" will only result in him brushing it aside and her raining hell on my daily life. I'm caught between being proud for finally standing up for myself, setting professional boundaries, knowing I've done nothing wrong, and anticipating the myriad of ways this could catastrophize. I'm sick to my stomach and that's after taking lorazepam to ward off the panic attack my actions have caused.
I'm expected to go sit in that conference with her again tomorrow. I don't trust her, can't learn from her, needed support and help, and I didn't get what I asked for. Seems like the more things change, the more they stay the same.
Maybe there's movement in the background he can't divulge. But all I see right now is I don't have the confidence I'll be able to comport myself professionally if she's confrontational or acts hurt or sweet and gaslights me tomorrow into thinking I imagined it all, or that I'm crazy or being the manipulative one. I'm that damaged, it might just work. What the hell do I do with that? How do I go to work tomorrow, head held high? Can I even?
Any advice from people further along in their journey would be greatly appreciated. I feel very alone and pathetic at the moment, and frustrated with myself for feeling that way.

2024.05.15 03:37 its_dongo Purchased car from dealer now they want it back. Help!

Hello, I recently purchased my first used car from a local CarMax about a week ago. Today, was asked to come in due to them having an issue with sending me a new license plate due to an issue with the previous inspection being out of date. During the inspection the CarMax employee and manager told me that they noticed some frame damage not reported and that CarMax should have never sold me the car and that they made a mistake.
After having some back and forth they are sending a new car (same model and year) for me to check out tomorrow; however, I went through financing from my credit union and CarMax has already cashed the check from Navy Federal. The new car is 2k more than the initial price and CarMax says they will try to get the price lowered to the same amount as the initial purchase. I am completely confused on what to do as this is my first car purchase. How exactly does this process work? Do I have to apply for a brand new auto loan? This all happened the day before I was supposed to leave for vacation and now I am putting that off until this is sorted. Any advice is welcome.
