Fri 6 PM Pink Therapy, A Latin Dance Fundraiser for Breast Cancer Sobremesa, 3421 Coors Blvd. NW On The One and Pachanga Productions' "Salsa Therapy" night has made its mark in the Latin Dance community, now we are using the symbolism of "Therapy" under "Pink Therapy" but this time it is to fundraise in partnership with the Pink Warrior House Foundation in order to provide outreach and increase resources for those warriors battling against breast cancer. On The One and Pachanga productions will be involved in community outreach and utilizing our resources to help those in need. Cover charge is a SUGGESTED $20 donation (ALL PROCEEDS GO TO Pink Warrior House Foundation). Cocktail hour from 6-7 PM (purchases go to PWH on selected drinks). Dance lesson from 7-8 PM. The plan is to install an outlet and light in a shed. I am using PVC tubing. The shed is about 3 feet from the main house, and about 50 feet from the circuit breaker box.
Digging a trench for the PVC tubing would be quick. Is a 240V sub panel required for this setup ?

I’m looking to add a porch cover to my house to cover the patio. Does anyone have any experience with getting a permit in New Braunfels or is it needed? I plan to do the work myself.

I live in a top floor unit of a large multiple building apartment complex. In January the complex announced they would be doing roof repairs, while repairs were underway on my building we had a large snowstorm. This caused a leak in our living room. The landlord responded promptly however repairs took a full month, during most of this time we had a hole in the ceiling(but not the roof) that let cold air in and for ~2 weeks we had a large industrial fan blowing 24/7. The fan was loud and unpleasant and interfered with our sleep. We had a modest but noticeable increase in the utility bill due to the fan and having to run the heat constantly. Plus we really couldn’t use the living room that whole month.
I was frustrated, particularly since we never received an apology, but I was prepared to let it go. Now we are having isolated electrical issues in the living room and connected patio. This is the only place we can plug in the wifi modem. The maintenance techs are at a loss and I have a sneaking suspicion it is related to the roof leak. It has now been two weeks and communication has been abysmal. We once again cannot use the living room and to make matters worse I am in the process of studying for my medical licensing exams, which I cannot do with out internet. So I have been driving to my university library to study every day, round trip is about an hour and fifteen minutes. We have received no communication regarding timeline or even what their plan moving forward is.
I feel both of these events have disrupted my daily activities and reduced the livable area of the apartment. I am hoping to seek rent reduction for the time that we have had ongoing repairs. So my question is, do I have a leg to stand on here and how do I go about approaching this conversation?

Hi everyone! I'm not sure if this is an appropriate question, but glancing at some older posts, I've seen similar. So figured it was worth a shot.
I keep a metal watering can on the table right beside my patio door. A wren has apparently decided it would make a decent home. It's been hopping in and out all afternoon, carrying lots of materials.
The problem is that this is the only door in/out of my residence. I'm worried I'll cause tremendous stress when I inevitably must open it tomorrow. The watering can is about two feet away.
What's the best course of action here? Should I move the watering can further away, or would they abandon it if I do that? Will I be okay sneaking out the door if I try not to make much noise? I don't plan on peeking inside the can or anything...but I'm worried about not being able to give the nest proper distance, especially if it ends up being a home to eggs.

Hello, I am looking for someone who would be interested in taking over my lease for the 2024-2025 school year, starting as soon as June 1st 2024. I had a change of plans late in the semester and decided to go live with a friend, meaning I will need to find someone who is willing to take over the lease I already signed. It is a private lockable bedroom with an attached private bath, part of a 4-bedroom building. The room is very nice, with a bed, dresser, desk and chair already included- meaning you won’t need to bring your own furniture. The windows also let in a lot of natural light, with the option to close the blinds if wanted. There is a tub/shower combo in the bathroom along with a sink and toilet. Finally, there is a large double door closet which is great for storing extra boxes or hanging up clothes. The room was also thoroughly cleaned out before I left, meaning all you would need to do when you arrive is some light dusting.
The location is also great, with the pool, volleyball net, and basketball court located right off the back patio. That also means the offices are just across the block, making it easy to pick up packages mailed to the secure system and visit the workout room or tanning salon. The biggest plus of the room imo is the bus stop just across the street, meaning you can roll out of bed and be taken straight to campus Monday through Friday from 7am to 8pm. (I’m really going to miss this). The washer and dryer are just across the hall, and there is also a spacious kitchen just downstairs. Parking is right outside the front door, with a parking and bus pass included as part of the rent.
The total cost is $998.95 a month only subtracting electricity. There are 3 other housemates, but they are awesome and very quiet. If you would be interested in more information or applying, please private message me and we can continue from there. Thanks.

Running is an individual sport, but is much better when you have the support of a community. running provides that community in an online forum, but many running groups and clubs are scattered throughout the US. I plan to submit weekly reviews of different running clubs in different cities over the upcoming weeks - I currently have on the schedule Houston (multiple times), Los Angeles, Denver, Kansas City (multiple times), Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, Atlanta (multiple times), Oklahoma City, Tampa, Jacksonville, Orlando, and possibly Louisville. This was the first time in a while. I'd stayed in Denver, and believe it or not, I don't think I had ever gone on a run in this city. I was only here for a couple of nights, so I decided to check out one of the few Wednesday night run clubs that I could find. This was a run club that is sponsored by a running coaching group called mercuria running, and the perks are pretty great. You get a free dinner by attending the run Club.
I was staying in downtown, so I decided to make the 2 Mile Trek across town to the Highlands area. I was very impressed with the charm of the city and how pretty it is overall. The group meets at Highland Tap and Burger, and I arrived about 5 minutes early. The parking seemed a little tight, as street parking was all that was available.
When I walked up, roughly 20 people were already hanging out on the patio, and I quickly introduced myself to a few few of the runners. A little after 6:30 pm, the main coach and run Club leader gave a quick club overview and mentioned that there was a 3.1 mile route and a 6.2 mile route. I, along with the group I was talking to, decided to do the 3.1 mile route. The group took off, and immediately headed east towards Commons Park. The route is a loop course and consists of 1 and 1/2 mi running through residential areas and 1 and 1/2 mi running through Commons Park. Commons Park is a well-designed and lively Park west of downtown Denver that borders South Platte River. I ran with a local runner for the majority of the latter half of the run. Aside from the aesthetically pleasing Commons park, the end of the Run consists of a massive uphill climb that that is a leg destroyer.
After the run, runners lineup inside of a back room to get the free meal. They had a quinoa, rice, salad, ham, and spaghetti. While it was delicious, I couldn't help but think what an odd combination it was. However, out of all the clubs I've been to, not a single one has provided a free meal, so I'm definitely not complaining. While waiting in line for the food, I introduced myself to a couple new Denver transplants and we got talking about running, the Run Club, Denver, and life in general. Throughout the rest rest of the night, I was able to meet several other regulars and newcomers. Newcomers. Majority of people were young professionals ranging from mid-20s to mid-thirties. Additionally, it seemed the majority of the people were also transplants to Denver, although there were a couple people I meant who were born and raised in the area.
While the perks and route were great, The people of the club were were friendly and open a conversation. It definitely made the experience. I don't know if this was the case to other clubs, but as a newcomer, I felt very welcome and included.

I am planning out my approach for a roof on my patio. My problem is the roof line on my house is higher than the guest house I intend to connect to. Therefore, the only valid plan would be to connect the ledger board on the side of the house to the fascia of the guest house. I plan on having a ton of support in the form of 6x6 posts, so much so that I don’t need the support of the house (or Fascia) for my load bearing. Pretty much all of the load will be sustained by these 6x6 posts even though it will be connected. The problem is that I have to slope the roof along the fascia. My plan was to connect the “lean-to” patio roof to the fascia strictly to connect the two structures for protection from rain and then put flashing over the sloped area along the fascia. It is ok to connect something to fascia that isn’t load bearing like that? The last thing I want to do is piss off the county for something that ridiculous

First post on reddit and sadly it has to be this one.
I'm in Iowa. The company I work for has us rinsing PVC pipes covered in herbicides, pesticides, insecticides, fungicides, etc. down the drain. I've only been there for a while and never understood why, I had mentioned something to an older guy earlier and thought he had mentioned a sub-tank or something (i have bad hearing so sometimes It's hard to correctly hear words). Well, today I was talking to another guy about the room with the sink and nonchalantly mentioned about it draining into the tank and he straight up said there is no tank. So I'm assuming these chemicals are just draining into the local sewage system, isn't that illegal?
Bare in mind we're not rinsing off a gallon of chemicals each day, but its enough over the course of the day i'd be concerned about. I'm not planning on staying long due to how dangerous the work conditions are here because OSHA would have a field day with this place. Any advice, tips, or questions would be appreciated.

Looking to update our landscaping for the first time and wanted to get some feedback. We have a mock-up of our final design and pictures of the backyard in the link above.
Our plan is to clean up the existing landscaping with some pavers and mulch. The paver wall will be a straight line, so we're not too worried about that. However, we'll have to deal with some exposed roots. I don't want to cut into them or go ovearound as it will look odd. Any ideas or suggestions here would be appreciated.
We also have a 4-5ft gap between our porch and the garage. We're considering clearing it out and putting down river rock for now, but we have a future idea to build a built-in bench/storage/sunbathing area. We want to make this space functional.
Finally, there's an extension area that has been overgrown and covered with poison ivy. Our plan is to get rid of it, but I'm not a fan of using salt or chemicals due to our animals and neighborhood strays. We're considering putting a paver patio/fireplace combo surrounded by river rock, but it might be a bit excessive. Another option is to knock the larger fence down and extend our driveway. It's less fun, but practical.
I hope to get some peace of mind that this is doable and maybe gather some good ideas. Thank you for reading and commenting!
