So as an avid Diablo fan I was pretty devastated when on launch I was “done” with the game before the 3 day early access had even finished. Came back and played a bit each season (I liked the vamp powers the best so far) and I have to say this is finally looking like a solid foundation.
I have to give credit to Adam, I had ZERO intentions of trying loot reborn until I watched his interviews. He reminds me of Chris Wilson from GGG with the way he talks about philosophy of game design, driving motives, and how playing actually feels being important.
So as for a background; I’m lvl 100, all glyphs to 15+, capped ironwolf rep, haven’t done pit yet, and I’m playing frozen orb sorc.
I’m only gonna list my negative/questionable feedback because quite honestly I’m thoroughly impressed with the state of the game now. It should have been this way at launch but that’s another story. (I will mention the density feels fucking great now, you nailed that!)

1. Renown grind. This was miserable, I had only done statues before so having to mindlessly grind for around 12 hours straight to get those 16 paragon points were pure pain.
   
2. Glyph leveling. I think it took longer to level a two glyphs 1-15 than it did to level 1-80. Obviously once you’ve GOT them leveled you can jump up in nm dungeon tier and blast them to 21 quickly.
   
3. Boss scaling. I can solo the helltide boss in 20-30 seconds, but if people show up it’s an absolute gamble. Sometimes the boss gets deleted, sometimes it takes 10minutes. It seems like if someone shows up and tags her it multiplies the health but that doesn’t scale back down if they leave. So I’ve had times where it WAS 10+ people but some of them leave and the boss health absolutely doesn’t scale back to 2-3 player hp and ends up taking 5-10 times longer.
   
4. It doesn’t SEEM that greater affixes become more common the higher level the mob is. I think this is a mistake personally. Maybe it does but I’m not seeing a difference between nm dungeons despite killing lvl 130+ mobs.
   
5. Uniques feel terrible. If the unique doesn’t have a skill altering effect, 9/10 times it’s salvage trash. Even ones with damage mods are grossly inferior to even a low quality legendary with tempering. This is even more true for jewelry slots since those can get offensive aspects.
   
6. Little thing, but stop dropping rares in WT4. Veiled crystals only please. That shit clutters the floor and I don’t think I even looked at a rare item after lvl 30-40. Could probably stop in WT3 tbh.

I don’t really play mine craft. This experience was from a few years ago while playing with my stepson. He was really really into MC so he was training/showing me the controls, tricks etc. btw we were playing on the Nintendo Switch, in a Hardcore world on survival (again I don’t play MC, so I have no idea if any of what I just said is relevant) We were playing for a few hours when we noticed the sounds of the game got extra quiet… and I mean quite. It was as if we muted the game. Then, every now and then we heard this “duuuummmmm” very deep and cryptic due to it being soft and unidentifiable as to where it was coming from. Was deep and echoed like a giant monk bell, but it didn’t sound like a bell, just a deep and spooky sound. And it was the only sound that existed other than our movements and mining. The sound itself was only about 2-3 seconds long. It was possibly going on for a while and we didn’t notice, we were just do into the game, when we had both noticed… we looked at each other… watched the screen… and both got freaked and left the room. To this we, we both have no idea what that was, and we’ve both asked lots of HC MC players, and no one knows. Any ideas?

Hi, I am not married, have no children, and most of my small golfing circle is spread out geographically. So I play as a single almost 100% of the time for my mid-week rounds. I've played 3 rounds at the new club so far and don't know anyone there. Generally speaking, how should I handle situations where I come up on a group as a single? I got paired up with 3 members on my last round, and we were playing ready golf and finished the round in 3:45. By about 14, a single in a cart had made his way up to us and I asked one of the others in the group if we should let him play through. His response was essentially "Fuck him," which took me aback.
Then I read a comment here which said that single players at private clubs typically get no courtesy on the course. I imagine that I will be the single in this situation very soon, and I don't want to step on any toes as a new member. How should I handle playing as a random single? Do I be sure to hang way back and let them make the decision to wave me up?
Also, any other general tips or pieces of advice for being a new member is greatly appreciated.
Additional info: My membership is a "limited golf" membership which means I can play S-Th after 2 pm from May - Sept. From Oct - Apr I can play 7 days a week after 12 noon. I have access to all other club amenities, driving range, pool, restaurant, events, etc. I value reasonably quick play, think I'm friendly/funny/witty, and 90% of the time I'm paired up with someone we have a great time. I just try to be a pleasant person to golf with and my HC is 16.1 right now.

Thanks for the great insights! To clarify, the member in my group wasn't a dick and was super friendly. His exact words were "He doesn't matter," which now I understand to mean "he has no standing". But at the time, I took it differently. He did also say that the single behind us couldn't find anyone to play with, which I also now understand to mean "he's a douche". The other members in the group did eventually ask him to join (we were a 3-some), to which the single member graciously and politely declined. Seemed like a nice enough guy though.
Unfortunately, my limited membership does not allow me to join the men's league or any tournaments unless I get invited by a member for the member-guest. I'm going to give the limited membership a year before I decide if I would like to upgrade to full member. I will ask someone with the club what the rules are in these regards. Really appreciate the insights. I've worked very hard to elevate my standard of living to where I am today, and a private country club is a new and foreign concept for me.

Who else should I be watching out for?

There is a general consensus on main points of the uber-killer one shot kill blood golemancer (Army of the Dead, Shadowblight passive, Blood Golem), but not so much on a general build. There are a lot of variations out there by different content creators, I want to kind of discuss the pros and cons and gather my thoughts on how to shape a minion necro that can still kill uber bosses relatively quickly without hampering the ability to speedfarm gear or push pit levels.
I'm not going to get in to the nitty gritty details about exact paragon placement and such, but more a high level overview of different takes on the Minionmancer.

Considerations

Attack Speed
According to the Mega Minion Guide, there are two buckets that can individually reach separate caps of 100%.

• The first bucket
  • Cult Leader board will almost always provide 10%, as it's on the way to a key legendary node
  • In contrast, the 5% on the Flesh Eater board is kind of out of the way and is likely not worth the 8-ish points required to unlock
  • The 25% on Hulking Monstrosity board can replace a gear roll, but that ONLY applies to Golem attack speed so is only relevant if you're focused on stacking golem damage over mage damage. The golem attack speed nodes are also pretty far away from the glyph slot and legendary node.
  • The rest (65 or 90%) must come from gear. Kalan's Edict key passive can effectively replace 2 gear rolls allowing us to focus masterworking stats on crit and int instead.
• The Second Bucket
  • There is no reasonable way to reach 100% here
  • Rapid and Rathma's Chosen aspects do not apply as minions don't have "basic attacks" and we're not casting overpowered blood skills
  • Enhanced Reap can give 30%, though won't help with single target fights
  • For Accelerating aspect Blight is the only Core skill we may be casting, but we won't be spamming it so it's probably not worth using it over other aspects for 10%
  • Frenzied Dead aspect is going to be an auto-include as it's an extra 45% with almost no restriction

Cooldown Acceleration
We have a few reliable ways of cheating out lower cooldowns

• Blood Orbs
  • Requires sacrificing a ring slot for the Fastblood Aspect and a defensive slot for the Embalmer Aspect
  • Not very many reliable ways to get Blood Orbs, need to run Blighted Corpse Tendrils and/or Hemorrhage basic skill alongside Embalmer
• Reaper Upgrade 1
  • More consistent on bosses and doesn't require two aspects.
  • We won't be able to rely on the other Skeletal Warrior paths to taunt or generate corpses
• Abhorrent Decrepify
  • We don't really want to focus our stats on lucky hit, this can supplement but shouldn't be relied on

Corpse Generation
When farming, corpses will be plentiful from random trash. When fighting bosses where are our corpses going to come from?

• Sever and Decompose basic skills both make corpses. Sever is slower (1 per 4s), but Decomposition (1 per 1s) requires channeling.
• (Ghastly) Blood Mist creates a good number of corpses, but the skill is better used to get out of sticky situations
• Hulking Aspect spawns corpses on Golem attacks, good pick for a utility aspect
• Bone Golem Upgrade 1 makes 5 corpses on command, but this is a bit painful as many of the various golem upgrades have really good effects
• Army of the Dead is a long cooldown, but generates tons of corpses. Corpses will have to come from trash mobs between bosses. Taking this means losing Bonestorm.
• Reaper Upgrade 2 has pretty nice corpse generation, but would lose out on the lowered cooldowns from upgrade 1

Vulnerable Application

• Decompose basic skill is a reliable way to make the target vulnerable though channeled skills are a pain to use. Would lose out on Sever's attack speed boost in non-boss situations.
• Bone Golem Upgrade 2 applies vulnerable and does pretty decent damage to boot
• Plagued Corpse Tendrils isn't a bad utility option on top of grouping mobs together, but it does have a lengthy cooldown and requires a corpse
• Cold Mage Upgrade 2 is essentially permanent vulnerable, but losing the shadow damage limits our other options severely.
• Bone Prison This is probably only reasonable for the uber-killer one shot variant. Need to pair with Plunging Darkness Aspect

Ultimate Skill

• Army of the Dead
  • Very spiky gameplay going through peaks and valleys of damage.
  • This skill wants to stay unused until you reach a difficult encounter (especially a single target fight). Using this will then end that fight in moments
  • More damage than Bonestorm
• Bonestorm
  • Very reliable, best to use as often as possible
  • More triggers for Shadowblight key passive when paired with Ultimate Shadow Aspect
  • Much more defensive option compared to AotD (natural 15% DR and Shielding Storm Aspect can give barrier generation)

Key Passive

• Kalan's Edict gives a good chunk of Attack Speed, but is only equivalent to 2-3 gear slots worth after masterworking
• Shadowblight does amazing damage paired with Blighted Aspect, but you need enough shadow damage sources to keep it rolling

Support Skills
We have 2 skill slots left after Skeleton, Golem, Generator, and Ultimate. Maybe 3 if we decide to run without a generator.

• Blight (or Bone Prison+Plunging Darkness Aspect) This is almost an auto-include. It gives extra minion damage, plus is an excellent source of shadow damage ticks for Shadowblight.
• Decrepify is a pure survivability option. Very good at reducing incoming damage and is especially useful for pit pushing.
• Blood Mist is a great option to get out of trouble, especially in Hardcore
• Corpse Tendrils groups up mobs and can apply vulnerable or generate blood orbs, but this has a cooldown and will consume cooldown acceleration effects making your ultimate take longer to come up.
• (Blighted) Corpse Explosion is purely for more Shadowblight triggers

Book of the Dead

• Warriors
  • Both Reaper options are good. Taunting defenders are great for thorns builds. Skirmishers are bad.
• Mages
  • Shadowblight is such a crucial part of the build that going anything other than one of the two shadow variants seems like the wrong choice. Upgrade 1 is great for Golem focused builds, Upgrade 2 is (slightly) better for mage focused builds. Cold Mages with Upgrade 2 is viable if not running Shadowblight
• Golem (needs more verification on different golem attack speeds)
  • Bone Golem attacks quickly and does surprisingly good damage on top of taunting. Upgrade 2 seems to be the better option but an argument could be made for Upgrade 1 for builds lacking corpse generation and for fueling the Corpse-Eater legendary paragon node
  • Blood Golem Upgrade 1 is a massive amount of DR, with how rare it is now might be worth it in high pit levels. Upgrade 2 is for silly numbers and stacking pure golem damage to the detriment of minions. He attacks slower than the Bone Golem so the difference is not as large as it may appear.
  • Iron Golem Upgrade 1 may provide more damage than the Bone Golem, but loses the Vulnerability or Corpse generation utility.

2h vs 1h
Minions used to just take the weapon damage, so going big 2H scythe was the way to go. Now they also base their attack speed on the weapon speed so the DPS is equalized across all weapon types (verification needed)

• 2H (Sword) is great for double dipping damage from the most valuable Aspect (usually Blighted)
• 1H (Wand/Sword) allows for faster minion attacks, which means more triggers for things like Hulking Aspect and Iron Golem Upgrade 1 which trigger base off of attacks NOT lucky hit. Allows for an additional aspect. Also necro offhands come with an implicit Cooldown reduction which is nice to have.

Boards & Glyphs

• Core
  • Starter + Int Glyph - My favorite glyphs here are Control (damage) or Darkness (toughness). I see Amplify taken as a popular choice but I feel that is better used on other boards.
  • Cult Leader + Deadraiser - Amazing board and the glyph gives a damage multiplier on ALL minion damage as well as boosts overall minion damage and survivability. Perfect fit for the board.
  • Hulking Monstrosity + Int Glyph - The legendary node here provides a massive damage boost to our biggest damage dealer. I like to put in the glyph I didn't use on the starter board here, though an argument could be made for the deadraiser glyph to supercharge the golem damage at the expense of mage damage
  • Flesh-Eater + Int Glyph - This is where I like to use Amplify or Corporeal for the boost to resists and elite damage. Legendary node is good but not necessary
  • Scent of Death/Bone Graft - Both of these boards have juicy life % nodes on them. Scent of Death's legendary node is pretty good and close to the glyph node while Bone Graft legendary node is very far away and can be completely ignored. I like a Wisdom glyph for Scent of Blood and a Dexterity Glyph for Bone Graft

  • Of the 3 boards left I like Bloodbath to get an extra Dexterity glyph in, Blood begets Blood for Int or Wis
  • Notable Int Glyphs:
    • Amplify (damage to cursed)
    • Control (damage to CCd)
    • Corporeal (golem damage+movespeed)
    • Darkness (toughness against enemies who've taken shadow damage)

Uniques?

• Ring of the Sacrilegious Soul can be a nice quality of life for farming. It also makes it so you can "cast" corpse tendrils without ever putting it on cooldown, meaning it won't eat your cooldown acceleration effects.
• Blood Moon Breeches lets you get some juicy curse effects without taking up a spot on the skill bar, massive extra source of DR as well.
• Razorplate mandatory for thorns builds.

Conclusions

With all that said, where does that leave us with regards to a general minionmancer?

• Kalan's Edict seems underpowered compared to Shadowblight. Maybe early game before you have attack speed rolls on gear, but after that Shadowblight seems like a clear winner. That also means we should probably avoid variations with cold or bone mages.
• Reapers seem like the winner of the melee skeleton options. Upgrade 1 seems especially hard to pass up. Corpse generation can come from elsewhere.
• Golems feel very well balanced to me. Any selection seems reasonable, no golem provides an irreplaceable effect or stands head and shoulders above the others.
• There are an unusually large number of Utility aspects which we want. This makes me lean away from using Blood Orbs as a method for reducing cooldown as it's really hard to fit in the two required aspects.
• 2H builds feel better when paired with AotD style of gameplay as they're both focused on spikes of damage. This might just be a me thing.

I've been working on a mod called "The Matter Manipulator," inspired by Starbound and Subnautica. It's designed to be a small necklace powered by singularity-class technology.
The purpose is simple: to invalidate all tools in the game. Once acquired, the player would never need another tool, workstation, cook-station, etc.
However, I've been having some problems implementing it. Everything reliant on qualities seemed straightforward, and the items under the use_action category were easy enough.
But then came the cooking and welding recipes. I couldn't get many recipes that required the oxy torch or a cooking facility to work. From my research, I know you can inject your item ID into the JSON/requirements section of the code, which makes it show up as an option in the recipe list. However, this makes the matter manipulator require charges, which detracts from what I'm going for.

First things first, I’m not a D4 hater so I’m not here to trash the game, but I want to raise a an important debate.
D3 was a super streamlined game, but beyond that, we had small things like the kill streak feature that made you constantly challenge yourself since minute 1. Even if you had no idea where to go, you were still high on the streak drug, and you only pushed that further the longer you played.
You also had all these challenges / achievements that motivated you to push against your limits during the entire journey, while D4 is more like “kill 1000 whatever”, which is the most irrelevant kind of achievement. Unless I impose a goal upon myself, D4 gives me nothing beyond an EXP bar to pursue.
In the end, what we have is a game where the first 50 levels are pretty much irrelevant — a nuisance preventing you from playing Hell Tides, which are a cool feature, but nothing you’d rave about either.
AND WHY THE F THERE’S PVP PERMADEATH FOR HC PLAYERS? This is the worst shit. It could be a nice distraction from PvE but the game nearly prohibits us from playing it. We should be allowed to fight freely, maybe even have a clan event, but both PvP mais are useless.
I like this game for real but the “addictive factor” is 100% missing IMO. I was having the time of my life playing Hades for the first time these day, but now I’m like… “yeah, let’s give D4 a fourth chance.” Do enjoy the game, but I’d readily drop it if anything cool is released.

I currently utilize 1 user and 5 machines which would cost $250+/yr, and $100+/yr if I went down to 3 machines. Both those are a hard nope for me.

Terms of Service

I understand that most are loving the new patch, and I am glad for you. I mostly like the item changes and various QOL things.
But, the game has become too easy for me to enjoy. I enjoy arpgs by playing HC and seeing how far I can get. After playing about an hour and a half last night, I was left feeling frustrated. I could pretty much ignore all enemy mechanics and could go multiple levels without bothering to open my inventory to equip better stuff. I was unchallenged and I was bored and it led to frustration.
I understand most people don't feel that way, but I honestly can't enjoy the game as it is right now.
So, I have two suggestions that might help people like me looking for some challenge.
Option one - a "nightmare mode" or whatever name they want to give it. Toggleable on character creation and just makes the game harder. Personally I'd like to see an increase in monster HP and monster damage. Maybe also less frequent drops. 50/50 on whether I'd like to see less experience or not.
Option two - just let us skip to level 100. I personally would rather not do that, but if that's where the challenge is and option one isn't feasible/acceptable for some reason, then so be it. I'd prefer to work my way to 100, but I simply don't have the patience to grind for hours through stuff I find unfun until I get there. Just let me skip straight to it if that's where all the fun is going to be.

I'm planning to shoot indoors with poor tungsten lighting soon. I've been able to dial in my rotary processing times for HC-110 Dilution H for ORWO UN54, Kodak 5222, Kodak 2238, and Kodak 2254 fairly easily because I had bulk rolls of each. Finding my personal EI and dev times has been fun and straightforward. I like structure of the Zone System for this. However, intentionally pushing film for crushed shadows and blown highlights still feels uncomfortably new to me since I prefer to have the "flexible" negative. That seems to go out the window when indoor lighting is poor and low, so compromises have to be made, this feels like uncharted territory for me (I'm way more comfortable with landscapes).
Unfortunately, I only have 5x 36exp rolls of Kodak Tri-X left (from the heyday when 100' was $90) and don't expect to be purchasing more in the future, it's simply beyond my budget now. I need low light and have been debating whether or not to get a 100' roll of HP5+ and shoot it at 1600 (their datasheet is pretty straightforward with times) or....do I stick with the 5x rolls of Tri-X and get busy testing. If I go the second route, I would like to kindly ask the community's advice on starting times for HC-110 (any dilution) and Tri-X at 1250 or 1600.
So far I've found:
EI 1600: HC-110 B for 12 minutes @ 68F
EI 1250: HC-110B for 16 minutes @ 68F
Personally, my guess is N development is probably around 6 minutes so N+1 is maybe 8.4 minutes and N+2 is 11.75 minutes?
I will account for rotary processing time and temp, so no worries on that. I have looked at the Massive Dev Chart but I prefer advice from this subreddit first before relying on it. Not a knock on the MDC - they're great. For Tri-X, the dev times from Kodak, the MDC, and Covington Innovations have been helpful at triangulating a ballpark. I'm surprised Kodak hasn't corrected the typo on their Tri-X datasheet for 3m45s HC-110 B@ 68F for box speed.
Ideally, I'd like to lose as few rolls as possible for testing. Credit to one of our community elders😊 u/mcarterphoto for a cool trick that I remember from many years ago, where I believe, you set the camera to Bulb mode or on the Nikon F5, a multi-minute exposure, fire the shutter, and while the mirror is up and with the first curtain opened, you adhere a piece of Scotch tape onto that frame, (don't press too hard or it'll flex the pressure plate and light leak into the adjacent frames) and then close the shutter, drop the mirror, now in the dark bag, you have a tactile "bookmark" for those test exposures. This way you can test multiple EIs on a roll of 35mm.

Hey all, i played D3 and now D4 and im loving it
altough i never played heroic char
now with the s4 launch i wanted to give it a try, but i have a quesiton if you guys can help me

1. HC and Regular realm are merged and i can play togehter with people in regular realm?
2. if not - hc realm is populated as much as regular realm or its pretty dead? im from EU ps5
3. what i do when the char die? do i need to make another one and go 100 all over again?
