I (44F) work first shift doing deliveries for a company. I work from 6-12. The other day my, 14 year-old (NB), child called me balling their eyes out. Through their sobs I gathered that the boy that they have a crush on had found out and rejected them. Told them that he only saw them as a friend. (unsure if this is relevant for the post my child present as female.) They asked that I come and pick them up from school because the situation upset them. I validated their feelings and got them to calm down a bit. Then told them that I was not going to pick them up early because of this situation. After I fished my delivery route I was talking to a co-worker about what happened. She said that I was an asshole for not picking them up from school when they were that upset about the situation. Stating that they would have picked their child up if they called with a similar situation. AITA for not picking them up early?

Note: Today’s presentation was not meant to be a detailed breakdown of ALL planned job changes and additions, just a basic overview of some of the noteworthy adjustments. Full gameplay will be previewed during the current media tour, with complete details on all of the job adjustments, potency changes, etc. to come with the patch notes for 7.0 after launch maintenance begins.
Action Change Settings - To address button bloat, certain actions will be replaced by their follow-up counterparts on the same button upon use, instead of the follow-up actions being on a separate button. However, for those who would prefer it the old way, this setting allows you to choose whether or not those changing actions will be replaced by their follow-up counterparts.
Adjustments to Tanks
  • Rampart and job-specific 30% damage reduction abilities will be upgraded in the 90s level range
  • Reprisal’s duration will be increased to 15 seconds in the 90s level range
Paladin
  • The second and third executions of Atonement have been changed to new actions with separate animations (the Atonement button will change to these actions automatically, so button presses will remain the same)
  • A new action that can be executed after Blade of Valor will be added
  • In order to execute Goring Blade, you will need to have Fight or Flight activated
Warrior
  • A new action, which can be executed after three executions of Fell Cleave or Decimate while Inner Release is active, will be added
  • A new action that can be executed after Primal Rend will be added
  • Visual effects and animation of Inner Chaos will be adjusted
Dark Knight
  • To reduce the number of inputs during burst damage phases, Blood Weapon will upgrade into Delirium, and the effects of Blood Weapon will be added to Deliirium
  • A new action that can be executed after Living Shadow will be added
Gunbreaker
  • A new action that can be executed after Fated Circle (via Continuation) will be added
  • A new 3-step combo that can be executed after Bloodfest will be added (no cartridge cost)
Adjustments to Melee DPS
  • Second Wind’s potency will be increased in the 90s level range
  • Feint’s duration will be increased to 15 seconds in the 90s level range

  • Basic combo mechanics will no longer center around maintaining a buff or DoT; instead, performing actions in a certain order will increase the next action’s potency. Adjustments will be

  • There will be a potency buff to Six-Sided Star if executed while you have ten chakra stacks
Dragoon
  • To reduce positional requirements for the single-target combo, the 5th combo action has been changed to a new non-directional action, Drakesbane (Fang and Claw/Wheeling Thrust will change to Drakesbane, so input execution will remain the same
  • To facilitate maximum damage output at the beginning of a battle, Life of the Dragon will be available without accumulating Dragon Gauge
  • To reduce the number of inputs during burst damage phases, certain actions will be removed or adjusted
Ninja
  • Huton’s effect has been moved to a trait and will always be active (Huton will be changed to an AoE attack which grants the effect of Hidden)
  • Actions which extend the duration of Huton’s effect will be adjusted in accordance with the above change
  • Due to these adjustments, the Windmill logo in the job gauge will be removed
Samurai
  • To simplify recast management, Tsubame-gaeshi will be changed to be executable after Meikyo Shisui
  • Hakaze, Tenka Goten, and Midare Setsugekka will be upgraded into new actions
  • Traits will be added that shorten the recast time for Hissastsu: Guren and Hissastsu: Senei
Reaper
  • Plentiful Harvest’s effect will no longer increase the Shroud Gauge by 50, and instead will allow execution of Enshroud (now can be used when gauge is at 51 or more without waste)
  • A new action that can be executed while Enshrouded will be added
  • Hells’ Ingress and Hell’s Egress will have reduced cool down when Enhanced Harpe is activated
Viper

  • A fast-paced job that fluidly shifts between dual-wield blades and double-bladed strikes
  • Has a similar total number of actions as other jobs, but is designed so that fewer actions need to be set on the hotbar
  • Executing actions will build a job gauge, which can then be expended in an enhanced “Awaken” phase
  • When applying buffs to yourself as well as debuffs to the enemy, certain other actions will be enhanced depending on which buffs/debuffs are active
  • In addition to close-range melee attacks, there are also some long-range attacks available should you need to fight from afar
Adjustments to Ranged Physical DPS
  • Second Wind’s healing potency will be increased in the 90s level range
  • Damage reduction of job-0specific defensive abilities will be increased to 15% in the 90s level range
Bard
  • Mage’s Ballad, Army’s Paeon, and the Wanderer’s Minuet will be changed into buffing actions which do not attack enemies
  • Pitch Perfect will be changed into an AoE attack for ease of use in encounters with multiple enemies
  • Single-target and AoE procs (Straight Shot Ready/Shadow Bite Ready) will be merged into one proc for better ease of use
Machinist
  • Barrel Stabilizer will no longer increase Heat Gauger by 50, and instead will allow execution of Hypercharge (can now be used when gauge is at 51 without waste)
  • A new trait which accumulates charges for Drill will be added
Dancer
  • A new action that can be executed after Flourish will be added
  • A new action which consumes Esprit and can be executed after Technical Finish will be added
  • Certain skills currently triggered by Standard Step may now be executed without having to go through the step actions
Adjustments to Magical Ranged DPS
  • Swiftcast’s recast will be reduced to 40 seconds in the 90s level range
  • Addle’s duration will be increased to 15 seconds in the 90s level range
Black Mage
  • Various adjustments will be made to streamline certain aspects of the job, such as restoring MP upon landing ice spells while Umbral Ice is active, instead of passively over time
  • A new action which repositions Ley Lines beneath the caster once will be added
Summoner
  • Solar Bahamut, a new summon akin to Bahamut and Phoenix, will be added (new summon rotation will be: Solar Bahamut - Bahamut - Solar Bahamut - Phoenix)
  • A new attack action that can be executed after Searing Light will be added
  • Summoner will keep Resurrection for Dawntrail, but may have it removed in 8.0
Red Mage
  • Manafication will no longer increase Black Mana and White Mana by 50, and will instead allow the execution of enchanted swordplay actions without cost (can now be executed while mana is at 51 or more without waste)
  • The AoE enchanted swordplay combo beginning with Enchanted Moulinet will now consume a total of 50 Black Mana and White Mana, similar to its single-target counterpart
  • Whenever Embolden is executed, an attack ability will be enabled
Pictomancer
  • Link to Pictomancer overview and gameplay demonstration in the livestream (I found this job much easier to understand by watching the demonstration, BTW)
  • Job actions centered around Aether Hue elemental attacks (Red = Flare, Green = Aero, Blue = Water) and Motifs (Creature, Weapon, and Landscape)
  • Aether Hue attacks build a gauge that can be expended on White elemental Holy attacks as well as Subtractive Pallette, which upgrades your other elemental attacks to higher-potency elements.
  • Creature Motif involves rendering parts of a creature (eg. a Moogle) via attacks that will eventually summon the creature for a higher-powered attack
  • Weapon Motif is a fast triple-cast combo
  • Landscape Motif is a longer-cast action that deals damage to enemy and grants buffs to self and party members
Adjustments to Healers
  • Swiftcast’s recast time will be reduced top 40 seconds in the 90s level range
White Mage
  • A new action allowing the caster to quickly move forward will be added
  • A new AoE attack, which can be executed up to 3 times after Presence of Mind, will be added
  • New trait that increases Tetragrammaton stack number will be added
Scholar
  • Seraphism, a new action which changes the caster’s appearance and enhances healing magicks, will be added
  • A new AoE attack that can be executed after Chain Stratagem will be added; it will include a DoT
  • A new trait that reduces recast time for Recitation will be added
Astrologian
  • The card system will no longer be RNG based, and will instead simultaneously draw cards with offensive, defensive, and curative effects
  • Every 60 seconds, you can draw one set of four cards (divided under Lord of Crowns or Lady of Crowns), each card having different effects, and you can use the cards in that set depending on your situational needs
  • Astrodyne will be removed with the discontinuation of astrosigns
  • New trait that increases Essential Dignity stack number will be added
Sage
  • Eukrasia will now enhance Dyskrasia II into Eukrasian Dyskrasia, an AoE attack which deals damage over time to enemies within range
  • A new party buff, which heals party members whenever the caster casts a spell, will be added (basically a ranged version of Kardion, but will only be in effect for a limited amount of time)
  • New trait that reduces the recast time of Soteria will be added
PvP Updates
  • Viper and Pictomancer will be added to PvP in 7.0
  • New PvP actions, action adjustments, and adjustments to existing PvP maps are currently planned for 7.1
  • Crystalline Conflict ranked matches will;; be in preseason between 7.0 and 7.1 (rankings will not be updated, but tiers and Crystal Credit will be affected by wins and losses
New Characters
  • Two new NPCs that will appear in the Dawntrail MSQ were discussed: Bakool Ja Ja and Koana, who will both be competing for the throne of Tural. Bakool Ja Ja is a two-headed Mamool Ja, similar to Gulool Ja Ja, and Koana is the male Miqo’te from the Dawntrail poster.
    Other Information
  • Benchmark software/graphics update: Some adjustments have been made based on feedback on the original benchmark. These include adjustments to lighting in the character creator, as well as corrections to graphical oddities in character models (addressing things like Keeper of the Moon Miqo’te teeth and Lalafell mouths/teeth). These adjustments will be incorporated into a new benchmark available for download, in addition to the game itself with Dawntrail. Information about a release date for the new benchmark will be announced later.
  • Free Fantasia: Starting in 7.0, there will be a new NPC in Ul’dah with a low level quest that can be completed for one free Fantasia per character.
  • In addition, using a Fantasia will now grant a 60 minute period during which you can make additional adjustments to your character after re-entering the game world if you are not satisfied with how the adjustments look in game. There is no limit to how many additional times you can tweak your character within this 60 minute period.
  • Fall Guys collaboration event returns from May 23rd to June 10th
  • Mountain Dew promotional event (US only): enter codes found under caps of specially marked Man. Dew products to receive points that can be redeemed for rewards, including in-game rewards such as a “Mountain Zu” mount and a consumable drink item.

Allereerst excuses als zulke longreads niet gewaardeerd worden / geen plek hebben hier. Ik lees hier nog wel eens het idee om de hypotheek van eigen woning “naar box 3 te verplaatsen” om uiteindelijk minder belasting te betalen. Met name relevant voor FIRE omdat ik ook lees over wat zorgen van hoge box3 belasting en dit een manier zou kunnen zijn die te verminderen.
Ik heb zitten rekenen hier aan en wil graag de resultaten delen. Ik laat hier even buiten beschouwing hoe (en of) je je hypotheek van je hoofdverblijf in box3 kan krijgen, en dat er mogelijk risico’s voor de toekomst in zitten als de wetgeving weer verandert. Ik deel het omdat het mogelijk interessant kan zijn hier, en omdat ik benieuwd ben of er onjuistheden in zitten. Let op: deze post is geen advies.
Tl;dr: financieel is het vooral voordeling (tot 5-10k/jaar) om je hypotheek van box1 naar box3 te zetten als:
Het sommetje is in principe simpel: voordeel=lagere box3 belasting – verlies hypotheekrenteaftrek box1 – verlies door evt hogere rente bij de constructie om hypotheek naar box3 te krijgen. Hieronder de elementen even 1-voor-1
Pluspunt: Lagere box 3 belasting:
Misschien eerst even kijken hoe dit ook alweer werkt met een simpel voorbeeldje. Startpunt box3 spaargeld 100k, beleggingen 500k, geen schulden, met fiscaal partner (drempel 114k).
En dan in situatie waarbij je 300k hypotheek van box1 naar box3 verplaatst:
Hoe dichter je met je hypotheekschuld in box3 bij je vermogen boven de drempel komt, hoe harder het gaat omdat op gegeven moment het bedrag boven de drempel naar 0 gaat en je 0 box3 belasting meer betaalt. Daardoor is het voordeel niet linear and veel groter als hypotheek ongeveer even groot is als box3-drempel.
Deepdive sidenote: wat je “wint” in box3 bestaat wiskundig gezien uit 2 delen:
Makkelijker is het misschien om dit grafisch weer te geven ( https://ibb.co/YjKmtN2 ). In het plaatje hier heb ik dat gedaan voor verschillende S en B. Bij box3 vermogens (boven drempel) en hypotheekschulden rond de 500k levert het zo’n 10k per jaar op in box3, en in extreme gevallen met veel vermogen en hoge hypotheek zelfs het dubbele.
Minpunt: Verlies hypotheekrenteaftrek
Bij het verplaatsen van (een deel van) je hypotheek naar box3 verlies je over dat deel hypotheekrenteaftrek. Ik ga even uit van 37% aftrek, wat bij hoge inkomens meestal waar is. Bij lagere inkomens bouwen er nog allemaal toeslagen/kortingen op en af en kan het % hoger of lager zijn. Dat betekent dat je per 100k hypotheek bij 1.5% rente 555 verliest, maar bij 4% 1480. Bij lage rentes werkt het dus beter omdat hierboven in box3 het niet uitmaakt welke rente je betaalt. Als je dat in de grafiek meeneemt ziet dat er zo uit: https://ibb.co/gZTNV9B
Minpunt: Hogere rente
Mogelijk wil een hypotheekaanbieder alleen je hypotheek geven die aan box3 voorwaarden voldoet (bv aflossingsvrij) tegen hogere rente. Als dat je 0.25% kost dan zou er nog 250 euro per 100k hypotheek naar box3 bij komen aan kosten. Als we dat toevoegen aan de grafiek krijgen we dit: https://ibb.co/KDGtp1r
Conclusie:
Als je huidige rente laag is, en je een aanzienlijke hypotheek hebt en vermogen ongeveer evenveel als je hypotheek kan het lonen om deze hypotheek om te zetten naar een box3 hypotheek, bijvoorbeeld in vorm aflossingsvrij of in 31 jaar aflossen. Dat kan niet makkelijk bij elke bank, maar in sommige situaties is het mogelijk. Ook nogmaals wil ik aangeven dat dit geen advies is dit te doen, en dat er ook fouten in mijn berekeningen kunnen zitten (feedback welkom). Met de onvoorspelbaarheid van hoe box3 er uit ziet over een paar jaar kan de situatie ook weer anders zijn waardoor ik persoon hier nu niet iets mee ga doen.

After having read Maitland's Masters of German Music (Osgood, McIlvaine & Co., 1894) I am left with a question that was not elaborated on to any great extent in the book: why were the German romanticists, e.g., Brahms, Bruch, Goldmark etc., more inclined to the composition of choral music, and lieder, than their French, Italian, and English contemporaries? Has it something to do with Lutheran tradition, or was it just a particular fashion of the time and place? Or can we attribute all blame to Bach?

Bump(?) pulled off of husband’s (30M) scalp
Hello!
30 y/o, male, 5’10” and ~250lbs, no meds, non smoker, rare social drinker (1-2x/yr), only medical problem is NAFLD. Most recent labs show not diabetic, no cholesterol issues, no BP problems. Working on weight loss but not sure if relevant to complaint in this post.
My husband has really bad dandruff and has picked scabs off his scalp before. Today he picked a lump off and we're not sure what it is?

He says it doesn't hurt at all (but may feel differently at his next shower). There is a crater on his scalp that I put neosporin on, although he has short prickly hair so his hair fibers won't flatten enough to apply the cream well enough.
The thing (lesion? growth?) he pulled off is white and smooth, has the firmness of a gummy bear. It's not hard like tooth but also not soft like a marshmallow. It's about 6-7mm long. We tried pinching it without bursting it and it feels very dense.
How serious does this look? Cancer? Insect larvae? (puke)
Do we need to save it for a dermatologist to look at? Any advice is appreciated!

TL-DR: Got my wife a card for mother's day and she was unsatisfied/upset/disappointed because I didn't write in it myself.
A couple weeks before mother's day, I made sure to go out and pick out a card for mother's day. I stood there for 10 minutes picking out the perfect one, which had the right words that I truly resonated with. It was one of those higher quality cards too, and the message was spread out to both sides, so not really much room to write on.
In an effort to be as transparent as possible, my wife did let me know in the past that she likes and appreciates hand written notes/cards.
So with that being said, I understood that I was in fact not personally writing something in there and deemed it okay in that moment because well, the words on that card were truly how I felt, so in my male brain it made sense.
I'm not sure how relevant this next part is but again I will try to be transparent, I had also ordered a custom bouquet from a florist that I know she likes. It was supposed to be a surprise, but for some reason I can't recall at the moment, it came to light. She told me to not spend that much money and instead we'll get her mother the bouquet.
Looking back, she mentioned that the peonies (her favorite flowers) were about to bloom in our backyard. Which she mentioned after we had this conversation a SECOND time and not initially, making me think that now she was just 'grasping at straws' to justify being upset. So when she did bring this up finally, she basically said it was a hint for me to just pick and cut some of those peonies for her. Obviously it didn't occur to me in the moment to do that. I figured she was just saying it's okay, she'll just enjoy our own peonies, not realizing she wanted ME to get them. Also, I can't recall if they even bloomed at that point either..
I also tried to explain to her that in general, it isn't wise to just have certain expectations and think you're owed something in life, from anyone really. It just shows entitlement and honestly sets you up for disappointment. It wasn't my main point, but definitely good advice..
In speaking to a friend/co-worker, he has a different dynamic with his wife and she didn't really care that he didn't get her anything, just a verbal 'Happy Mother's Day'. I envy the fact that his wife didn't get upset over something like this. They're basically in the same stage in life, just a couple years old with an additional baby.
I feel as though gift giving is something EXTRA and shouldn't just be automatically expected because of a holiday and because you're spouses. I have no issues giving gifts at all, I frankly enjoy it, but I found it very immature and unreasonable for my wife to be so upset over this. It makes me feel like even though I went out of my way to do something nice, it wasn't appreciated because it wasn't EXACTLY what she wanted or how she wanted it.
Anyway, am I in the wrong here?? Or is she being unreasonable? We otherwise have a great marriage and love each other very much. It's been almost 3 years together and we probably 'fight' as much as a normal couple would. We're generally very happy with one another and have a precious little (almost) toddler.

Hope someone can help. We are currently in the process of onbarding a new client. The previous IT company install a Watchguard Firewall, not 100% of model number. The client has just had a 1GB leased line installed to replace the 100mb, so a new static wan address. The current support co are telling the customer that the whole Firebox needs to be reconfigured, and I suspect this is guff. Surely, and wwe dont have access to the firebox, but this is as simple as changing the wan on the relevant interface?

Lucy Letby: I’m at the first hearing of the Thirlwall Inquiry into the events at the Countess of Chester Hospital. Today’s session is expected to deal with admin issues relating to the substantive hearings which are due to begin later this year.
The Chair of the Inquiry, Lady Justice Thirlwall has said that the substantive hearings will start in September and are expected to last until at least the end of the year.
The Inquiry will be held at the town hall in Liverpool- it has not been possible to find space in Chester. It will start on Tuesday Sept 2nd.
Correction- the hearings will start on Sept 10.
The hearing today is dealing with administrative matters relating to the Inquiry. Currently discussing whether or not the hearings will be streamed publicly or not.
Barristers representing the families of the babies have said that the hearings should be broadcast. They've argued that this would be a counter to online conspiracy theories relating to the Letby case, which have been "grossly offensive and distressing to the families".
Barrister for the Countess of Chester Hospital says the hospital is content for the hearings to be available on a video link to relevant attendees, but does not support the families' arguments for them to be broadcast worldwide.

Families say Lucy Letby inquiry should be livestreamed
The inquiry into former Countess of Chester Hospital nurse Lucy Letby will be heard in Liverpool from this September, it has been confirmed.
A preliminary hearing for the inquiry, chaired by Lady Justice Thirlwall and to be known as the Thirlwall Inquiry, was held at Chester Racecourse on Thursday, May 16.
The inquiry will look into how Letby was able to murder babies on the Countess of Chester’s neonatal unit in 2015 and 2016, the conduct of others at the hospital and the culture in the wider NHS.
Letby, of Hereford, was sentenced to 14 whole life orders after she was convicted of murdering seven babies and attempting to murder six others, with two attempts on one of her victims.
Rachel Langdale KC, counsel to the inquiry, gave an update to its progress and outlined procedural details.
It was confirmed the Thirlwall Inquiry will begin in Liverpool Town Hall on Tuesday, September 10, with "substantive evidence" beginning the week after from Monday, September 16.
The inquiry will run from Mondays to Thursdays each week, and take a week off for the October half-term holiday. It will also last until "at least" the end of the year.
Giving representations at the preliminary hearing, lawyers for the families of those impacted by Lucy Letby said the Thirlwall Inquiry should be livestreamed to the public, to prevent the spread of “grossly offensive” conspiracy theories.
Peter Skelton KC, representing families of six babies, said Letby’s crimes continued to be the subject of conspiracy theories online.
He described the theories as “grossly offensive” and “distressing” for the families, who he compared to relatives of school shooting victims in the US.
He added: “One of the most effective antidotes to those theories and the damage they cause will be to see and to hear the people involved in the hospital give a true and comprehensive account of the facts.”
He said a submission by lawyers representing the hospital, which said a livestream might make witnesses less inclined to speak with candour, was “extraordinary”.
He said: “All the staff working at the hospital are public servants, they have a moral obligation to give a true and complete account.”
Richard Baker KC, representing some of the other families, said his clients had suffered “an unimaginable harm in unimaginable circumstances”.
He said: “Their desire in this case is for change and so that others do not experience what they have experienced.”
But, he said, they were “saddened” and “concerned” at the suggestion the lack of transparency might continue.
Andrew Kennedy KC, representing the Countess of Chester Hospital, said the hospital wanted to provide “as much assistance” to the inquiry as it could.
But, he said there was a “high level of anxiety” from staff at the prospect of giving evidence which was livestreamed.
He said: “Our desire, and no doubt the inquiry’s desire, is for witnesses to be able to speak frankly and with candour and anything that can be done to facilitate that should be done.
“If a witness is concerned about livestreaming then if we can remove that concern we can, we would suggest, encourage candour, frankness and openness.”
Ms Langdale said court orders that prevent the identification of a number of people involved, including all of the babies, had to be complied with.
It was suggested by lawyers representing the families there could be a livestream which would be broadcast on a 15-minute delay, to ensure proceedings would be monitored to comply with existing court orders.
Lady Justice Thirlwall said she would give her decision on whether the hearings would be broadcast at a later date.
She started the proceedings, which lasted just over an hour and a half, with a pause for reflection for the “lives lost”, “injuries sustained” and “suffering” of the families.
The hearing was told 188 requests for information had been made to individuals including midwives, nurses, doctors, managers and members of the hospital board.
Ms Langdale said detailed questions had been asked about involvement in the care of particular babies, suspicions and concerns about Letby, mortality rates and other issues.
She added: “Questions are asked about why suspicions were not reported to police sooner.”
Experts had been instructed to look at cultural issues in the NHS, the implementation of recommendations made by previous inquiries and issues around whistleblowing, Ms Langdale said.
The inquiry also heard efforts had been made to secure a Chester venue for the inquiry, as had previously been the aim, but no suitable one could be found, so the decision was made to hold it at Liverpool Town Hall.

More than 60 pages of WhatsApp messages between Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) ministers have been published by the UK Covid-19 Inquiry.
The messages give an insight into the thoughts of some of the party's most senior figures as the pandemic spread.
The WhatsApp group chat covers the period between January and November 2020.
No internal messages between Sinn Féin politicians have been published by the inquiry.
Michelle O'Neill, whose WhatsApp messages from this period were wiped from the devices issued to her as deputy first minister, has told the inquiry that she accepts that these messages should not have been deleted.
"I accept that I should have kept my additional exchanges, in particular with Arlene [Foster], and anything else that was relevant," she said.

'Sour bake' On 6 August, Lord Weir appeared to refer to an exchange between Mr Poots and Nichola Mallon, at the time the Social Democratic and Labour Party's minister in the executive.
