2024.05.16 21:09 ShadowHead745 Cross Listed Courses
I'm currently taking some courses this summer towards my graduate degree (Computer Science). I'd like to take more this summer, but the only remaining one I could take is a CSE 4** level course that say in the description "Credit allowed for only CSE 4** or 598".
The handbook says "If a 400-level course is cross-listed with a 500-level course, students will be required to enroll in the 500-level course". However, when I search for the CSE 598 that corresponds to the (with plenty of open seats) CSE 4** course, it's nowhere to be found.
Am I expected to enroll in the 4** level course, and then through admissions, have it be reflected as 598 on my transcript? Or should there be an actual 598 course that I can register in, but just isn't there for some reason? If anyone has signed up for a cross-listed course and is familiar with the process, I'd appreciate the input. (I've already contacted advising, but I still haven't heard back, and the enrollment deadline is tomorrow). TYIA.

2024.05.16 21:00 dani26795 [FIFA 07] World Wide League 07 Week 3 Day 3 (15th-13th Divisions)
Following the previous post here’s a recap of the 3rd day from the 3rd week of the "World Wide League 07" project (
full playlist of it can be found here).
Some notes:
You can find descriptions of each division as well as the teams participating in them on the Week 1 posts previously submitted in this subreddit.
Every time you see a team with their name in bold, it's a team of which every match will be recorded.
For ordering the leaderboard table, I simply use whatever the game displays (when there are full ties, it simply orders the teams at random) and then do some correlation since once the week of matches is done, the first match of the next week happens automatically offscreen.

2024.05.16 20:59 Macross137 Book Review: Alchemy of Goetia by S. Connolly
This sounded like the most interesting work I've seen coming from S. Connolly in a while, and it's based on a premise with a lot of potential: examining goetic sigils to identify elements associated with alchemical symbolism. I am not really a fan of Connolly's better-known works but I thought it would be worth checking this one out.
The basic structure of the book is to go through the Ars Goetia sigil by sigil, breaking each one down into a set of alchemical symbols, conjecturing on what kind of recipe or process it represents, and interpreting it metaphorically in spiritual/psychological terms.
The first thing I found a little frustrating is that there aren't any diagrams for the symbols contained within the sigils. She just lists them off, and you have to look them up in the symbol key, which is a set of scanned pages from a 18th-century manuscript. The pages are in Latin and Connolly mostly uses English terms to refer to the things the symbols represent, and there are multiple symbolic possibilities for most entries, so it's quite a bit of work to match up the symbols according to her descriptions. Given the immense diversity of alchemical symbols and their similarity (or direct equivalency) to magical alphabet letters, astrological symbols, and other polysemous characters, it's hard to say with any certainty how accurate any of this might be. Connolly does acknowledge the subjective nature of this process and her difficulty in finding interpretations for some of the sigils.
The recipes themselves she matches up to the symbols are for alchemical and metallurgical processes as well as mundane stuff like making soap. There are some interesting ideas here, like connecting symbols for arsenic and its potential to create poisonous gas with warnings about "stinking breath" and other dangers to the practitioner, but where we mostly end up going with these interpretations is to metaphors for shadow work and mental health concepts that are consistent with ideas in modern demonolatry but would have been entirely anachronistic for the people who wrote the Lemegeton and its antecedent texts.
I appreciate that the book attempts to move the discussion forward in terms of analyzing the semiotics of goetic sigils in their historical context instead of falling back on "the spirits channeled them" or Rorschach-test interpretations like the ones in King's Faculty of Abrac, but Connolly doesn't make any attempt to reconcile her interpretations to the astrological symbolic keys provided by the Fourth Book of Occult Philosophy or the known connections between earlier sigils and magic squares. It's hard to buy into a purely alchemical interpretation of the sigils without factoring those into the analysis, and the book really would have benefitted from a more usable symbol key and diagrams of the breakdowns.
I don't think this book is a necessary read for beginning practitioners, and it's not the book we've all been waiting for in terms of decoding the goetic sigils, but you might find some value in it if you have a specific interest in sigil construction and/or the possible connections between alchemy and spirit work.

2024.05.16 20:53 Vshao111 Showcasing what a well invested FUA team would look like in MOC2.2 + some thoughts on this team
| Hi! I just wanted to share this amazing video that I just finished editing and share some of my own thoughts on FUA team in general. I think a well invested FUA team feels so overwhelmingly good, probably the only team that compares to this amount of damage is Acheron, considering I have to e3 or above characters. I see quite a lot of people saying that Topaz has minimal damage but I wanted to share some tips, after quite a few runs in moc I figured that having high crit on Topaz greatly increases her dps, I think crit damage is a good stat but it’s highly overrated, especially for characters like topaz where her e1 and s1 can give a ton of crit damage. Another thing is when paired with robin, use a damage orb over atk orb since robin provides around 1k flat atk already but only 50% damage increase, changing this also had a significant boost to my topaz dps, and as you can see in the video my topaz is literally doing the same if not more damage than my ratio. Lastly I just want to say that this is team is super fun and strong at the same time it’s my favorite team right now and hope y’all are having as much fun as I am too! Also for the eidolons I think robin e1 is def the most important since you can literally ignore whatever weakness the monster has and still go through each moc floor like I did. The other one that is pretty good too is topaz e1 because it provides another debuff for ratio and more crit damage which works great with this high crit theory. The rest is just there because I like the character and in my opinion are not that necessary. Anyways hope y’all enjoy the vid, I worked super hard on those edits! Btw sry for anyone who doesn’t understand Chinese since I play and edit it in Chinese, stats are listed in description. Topaz my queennnn! submitted by Vshao111 to RobinMains_HSR [link] [comments] |

• How long do you take to make an important decision? And do you change your mind once you've made it?
i take as long as i need to i'm not the kind person that will run out of time cause i'm not that indesisive i can make quick decisions but i can also take a long time when i feel it's needed if after that i don't change my mind in the 5 sc after my decision i probably won't change my mind
• How long do you take to process your emotions? How important are emotions in your life?
the needed time to feel good my emotions aren't that deep so i mostly don't need much time but when they get what deeper i will need more time
• Do you ever catch yourself agreeing with others just to appease them and keep the conversation going? How often? Why?
i find myself agreeing with others when i'm too tired to argue or when i'm talking to my mom
• Do you break rules often? Do you think authority should be challenged, or that they know better? If you do break rules, why?
i beak rules when i know i'm not getting in trouble authority should be challenged they make dumb decisions but it's not me that should do that i'm too lazy , and i break rules cause they stupid

2024.05.16 20:51 Vshao111 Showcasing what a well invested FUA team would look like in MOC2.2 + some thoughts on this team
Topaz my queennnn! submitted by Vshao111 to TopazMainsHSR [link] [comments] |

2024.05.16 20:29 akrostixdub Making menu screen that updates a list from an array
Hi all, I'm attempting to make a "Thought Cabinet" where through dialogue a player will attain various attributes that they can view in said menu. What I can't figure out is how to:
1) Make it so the list of thoughts starts empty and updates when the player attains one.
2) Make it so that when a player clicks on an attained thought, it opens a description of the thought they clicked on.
I've set up variables that are a list containing the Thought's name, description, and a True/False value indicating whether they have attained it or not. One vbox calls the first element of the list to display the name (eg. thought_void[0]), but the problem I have is I don't know how to make the second 'description' vbox update dynamically based on what thought was clicked on. Any ideas? Unfortunately if statements don't seem to work. Thanks!

2024.05.16 20:24 tempmailgenerator Embedding Hyperlinks in RichText Emails via Excel VBA
Enhancing Email Communications with VBA
In today's fast-paced digital world, the ability to automate email communication stands as a pivotal efficiency booster for professionals across various industries. Leveraging Excel's Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) to enhance emails not only streamlines workflow but also opens up a realm of customization options. One such customization is the integration of
hyperlinks into
RichText email bodies, a feature that significantly enriches the recipient's experience. This functionality enables users to direct recipients to additional resources, websites, or documents with ease, thus enhancing the communicative value of the email.
The process of embedding URLs into RichText emails via Excel VBA involves a blend of programming skill and understanding of email formatting principles. For individuals who regularly rely on Excel for data management and reporting, this capability can transform mundane email updates into dynamic, interactive communications. Beyond mere links, this approach allows for the creation of emails that are not only informative but also engaging, encouraging recipients to explore content further. By mastering this technique, users can elevate their email correspondences to new heights, leveraging the power of Excel VBA to create more impactful and resourceful email interactions.
Command | Description |
CreateObject("Outlook.Application") | Initializes an instance of Outlook Application. |
.HTMLBody | Sets the HTML body content of the email. |
.Display | Displays the email draft window. |
.To | Specifies the recipient's email address. |
.Subject | Defines the subject of the email. |
Delving Deeper into Hyperlink Integration
Embedding hyperlinks into RichText email bodies through Excel VBA offers a unique advantage for users seeking to automate and enrich their email communication. This capability goes beyond merely sending text-based emails; it allows for the inclusion of dynamic content, such as links to websites, online documents, or even email addresses, directly within the body of an email. The process leverages VBA's ability to interact with Outlook, enabling users to programmatically create, format, and send emails. This integration is particularly beneficial for businesses and individuals who regularly distribute newsletters, promotional content, or updates that require recipients to access online resources. By automating the process, users can save significant time and reduce the potential for errors associated with manual email creation.
The practical applications of this technique are wide-ranging. For instance, in a corporate setting, automated emails with embedded hyperlinks can be used to direct employees to internal portals, training materials, or important announcements. In marketing campaigns, hyperlinks can guide recipients toward landing pages, product listings, or survey forms, thereby increasing engagement rates and tracking the effectiveness of promotional efforts. Moreover, this approach enhances the user experience by providing immediate access to relevant online content. It's important to note, however, that while embedding hyperlinks adds value to emails, it should be done judiciously to avoid overwhelming recipients or triggering spam filters. Ultimately, the integration of hyperlinks into RichText emails via Excel VBA is a powerful tool that, when used appropriately, can significantly enhance the effectiveness of email communication.
Creating RichText Emails with Hyperlinks in Excel VBA
VBA in Excel
Dim outlookApp As Object Set outlookApp = CreateObject("Outlook.Application") Dim mail As Object Set mail = outlookApp.CreateItem(0) With mail .To = "recipient@example.com" .Subject = "Check out this link!" .HTMLBody = "Hello, please visit our website." .Display End With
Advanced Techniques in Email Automation
At the heart of automating RichText emails with Excel VBA lies the objective to streamline communication processes, making them more efficient and effective. This advanced technique is not just about sending emails but about creating a sophisticated email experience that can include formatted text, images, and crucially, hyperlinks. Such emails have a higher engagement rate because they provide a rich user experience and direct links to additional resources or actions. This method significantly benefits marketers, HR professionals, and project managers who need to communicate complex information and actions in a clear and accessible manner. By automating these processes, users can ensure consistent quality and tone in their communications, while also saving time that would otherwise be spent on manual tasks.
The flexibility of Excel VBA allows for customization that can cater to a wide range of scenarios, from simple notifications to complex newsletters with multiple links. This capability is particularly useful for sending bulk emails that are personalized for each recipient. Imagine sending out a company-wide announcement with links personalized to direct each employee to their specific documents or dashboards. Such personalized automation can dramatically increase the relevance and effectiveness of the communications, thereby enhancing engagement and action. However, it's important to navigate these advanced techniques with an understanding of email and web standards to ensure deliverability and to avoid spam filters, making this a skill set that combines technical prowess with strategic communication planning.
Frequently Asked Questions on Excel VBA Email Automation
- Question: Can Excel VBA send emails with attachments?
- Answer: Yes, Excel VBA can automate sending emails with attachments using the Outlook Application object.
- Question: Is it possible to send emails to multiple recipients using VBA?
- Answer: Absolutely, you can send emails to multiple recipients by separating the email addresses with a semicolon in the .To field or by using the .CC and .BCC fields for carbon copy and blind carbon copy recipients.
- Question: How can I ensure my automated emails don't end up in the spam folder?
- Answer: To avoid the spam folder, ensure your emails have a clear subject line, avoid spam trigger words, and include a plain text version along with the HTML body.
- Question: Can I personalize emails sent through Excel VBA automation?
- Answer: Yes, by dynamically inserting recipient-specific information into the email body or subject line, you can personalize automated emails sent via Excel VBA.
- Question: Are there limitations to the size of email attachments when sending through Excel VBA?
- Answer: While VBA itself doesn't impose size limits on attachments, Outlook or your email server might have restrictions on the maximum email size.
Mastering Email Automation with VBA
As we navigate the complexities of digital communication, the ability to automate and personalize emails via
Excel VBA presents a significant leap forward in efficiency and effectiveness. This technique, which allows for the embedding of
hyperlinks into
RichText email bodies, is more than just a technical convenience; it is a strategic tool that can elevate the quality of communication. By automating the process, individuals and organizations can ensure consistent, engaging, and informative messages are delivered, tailored to the specific needs and interests of each recipient. Furthermore, the use of VBA to automate emails fosters a deeper connection with recipients through personalized content, driving higher engagement and action rates. Despite the technicalities involved, the essence of this approach lies in its ability to transform email from a mere communication tool into a powerful medium for engagement and information dissemination. As we continue to seek ways to enhance our digital interactions, the integration of Excel VBA into email communication strategies stands out as a beacon of innovation and effectiveness.

2024.05.16 20:22 SultanOfSodomy Building a PC for a specific scientific software (specs inside). What about these 3000€ builds?
Hi!
I'm selecting parts for ~3000€ PC+Case+Monitor for a specific scientific software. I'd appreciate your help in maximizing the performances I can get from the budget.
Here's the recommended software specs:
- Intel Core CPU with 8+ cores and AVX support (I know it to be AVX-512)
- 32 or more GB RAM
- *some generic HDD for large data*
- 1TB or more SSD
Here's the enterprise solution listed in software specs pdf. I have no idea how good the proposed enterprise machine is as I have no idea how old the software specs are:
- 2x Intel Xeon-Silver 4110
- 256GB DDR4 2666 ECC REG
- 5x 4TB HDD (not specified but I'd bet in RAID5)
- 2x 2TB SSD (not specified but I'd bet RAID1)
Monitor is 21:9 ~ 27/29". No gaming stuff, it just need to contain a lot of windows and plots. I selected the cheapest decent monitor in range.
Not required but nice to have:
- fast copy from external USB disk. USB4/Thunderbolt could be very interesting.
- some minimal CUDA required. No large models, just running specific kernels for image analysis. 4060 with 8GB should be more than sufficient as the task is largely CPU bound.
- analysis might be days long without interruption. Not interested in overclock, just best compromise of performance and stability for the available budget.
- not interested in case window and/or RGB/LED. Silent boring monolith is my preferred way. But if colorful ends up cheaper is ok, too.
My 3 different
pcpartpicker.com ideas:
- strong desktop AMD CPU with AVX-512 (Ryzen 9 7950X3D)
- strong desktop Intel CPU with AVX-512 (Core i9-10980XE)
- last generation strong desktop CPU (Core i9-14900K, that has no AVX-512)
Long time since my last build, and first time user of
pcpartpicker.com, so I might be doing some errors here, please be patient. I've also enabled the comments there so please feel free to roast by builds there.
I tried to select RAM memory according to QVL list for each selected motherboard, but I don't know how strict those are. Please fine the link to QVL list in the description of each build.
I selected only the items available on italian Amazon

2024.05.16 20:21 zoey77_ Writing the O1 application: How was your experience?
Hi :) I’m looking for someone who would share some insight on how they worked on their application for the O1.
Meaning, the recommendation letters, citations, press list, detailed descriptions of your CV…
I know it takes time but that’s not my issue in this case. I’m just curious too see how it was for others to prepare all that, was it difficult to get recommendation letters and to receive a job offer? My plan is to file one with an agent (not an employer), talked to an attorney and he said I qualify for it and can get started with the application. But I’m still nervous about the process itself and whether I’ll have enough to be approved.
I think it stems from a friend who was super stressed out about it for months and ended up writing 400 pages that he submitted. How many pages did you have in the end? Is that normal?
So yeah I would appreciate any insight and advice! Thank you :)

2024.05.16 20:03 JoshmasterR What do I do before graduating as an upcoming freshman?
I'm 18 years old and I want to work remote in the future, working for people in the US or Europe from where I am now. I live in the Philippines.
I'm worried for my future due to how competitive the job market is. I want to know what I need to learn in order to get a decent fully remote job by the time I'm 20 or 21. Maybe a list of things I could rely on. I'm about to do college for Chemical Engineering by the time next school year comes in the Philippines but I have a feeling that a bachelor's degree isn't enough. What do I need to know and look into? I'm really open to learning new skillsets and technological skills. I also want to know how to build my first resume.
Edit: I'm also aware that there's rarely people who hire someone outside of their country or area without adjusting the pay towards that country's normal rates unless they have those desirable skillset that they want... so another question is, what are those skillsets?

2024.05.16 19:57 No-Amoeba-9529 SEO for Etsy?
I was offered SEO after complaining about a very sharp drop in sales on the Etsy forum… I then had about 12 people offering to optimise my shop for Etsy search… I paid £240 to get 50 listings done but the result is so bizarre and different from the original listings (I have 110 listings) that now I am unsure about what to do… any advice? The new listings read very strange… titles, tags and descriptions have been changed. What is your experience?

2024.05.16 19:57 jamiefromjupiter SkeeterVac Mosquito Octenol Lures?
Hi everyone! I am on an endless pursuit towards mosquito annihilation. After a bit of YouTube research across the few cordless CO2 traps, I went with the Blue Rhino Skeeter Vac for the easy maintenance and durability. In the starting package with the machine, they give you their default SkeeterVac FineTune Insect Lure. It’s 24.5% 1-Octen-3-ol and 75.5% “Other Ingredients.” For what I think is a pure commoditized chemical, $20 per individual packet seems like a lot to keep having to buy. Granted, it’s supposed to last 60 days.
Alternatively, I found on Amazon: Hodiax Octenol Pest Lures. It’s 6x lures with the exact same 24.5% 1-Octenol-3-ol and 75.5% “Other Ingredients” for $23. So it’s basically the same price for 6x the number of lures. And the description says they’re supposed to last for 30 days each.
Are all these Octenol lures basically interchangeable? Does anyone have experience with SkeeterVac or buying different mosquito attractants? Anything to keep in mind for this or can I just buy the cheapest available chemical?
Thank you!!

2024.05.16 19:56 bishtap Question about Kb of NaOH.. Near infinite, or below one?!
| From what I understand, Kb isn't normally worked out for strong acids or strong bases, because the Kb(for bases), or Ka(for acids), would be so high. because of the way Kb is calculated, you'd have near 0 on the bottom of the fraction, in the case of a strong base. Because the bottom of the fraction for calculation of Kb, has Initial Concentration minus x , where x is the amount that changed, and x is almost equal to initial concentration. because almost all the reactant is converted into ions leaving almost no reactant left. However, looking here https://chem.libretexts.org/Bookshelves/Physical_and_Theoretical_Chemistry_Textbook_Maps/Supplemental_Modules_(Physical_and_Theoretical_Chemistry)/Acids_and_Bases/Monoprotic_Versus_Polyprotic_Acids_And_Bases/Polyprotic_Acids_and_Bases_1/Acids_and_Bases/Monoprotic_Versus_Polyprotic_Acids_And_Bases/Polyprotic_Acids_and_Bases_1) It says this https://preview.redd.it/gsrepde6st0d1.png?width=983&format=png&auto=webp&s=6223c23ad584a57195a23e2f6b28b78a7d9c930a Is that a mistake or am I missing something? I grant that the Kb is relative high, but it's below 1, so miles away from being near infinite. Why is the Kb so low on that page for those strong acids? I notice this link https://www.chemicals.co.uk/blog/what-is-caustic-soda also has that same low Kb figure. Also it says Kb = [BH+][OH-]/B where B= the original concentration of the base. That for "B" seems a bit strange to me 'cos i've seen the formula for Kb as having initial concentration minus x, at the bottom. which looks to me to be resultant concentration of base rather than "original concentration of the base". e.g. this image (which is from a video and not from that page), makes sense to me https://preview.redd.it/k6dap8kmtt0d1.png?width=591&format=png&auto=webp&s=817cd3db261c8e90dca119dcd0406c55261a6cbd so two questions there Why is ithe Kb so low for NaOH and not near infinite. And why does that description say that on the bottom is "original concentration of the base", rather than resultant concentration of base? (I know that for a weak base, if x is sufficiently small, then for simplifying the calculation, they might take the x on the bottom of the fraction as being 0, which would be make the bottom of the fraction be equilvant to the original concentration of the base. I don't know if that's why they wrote that desription there? Thanks submitted by bishtap to chemhelp [link] [comments] |
2024.05.16 19:46 ClaireEmma612 What are your favorite parenting books and why?
I’d like to add a few more to my collection but it’s overwhelming with so many! I don’t want to get a bunch and feel like I’ve wasted time and money. Which books do you think have been the most informative or influential on your parenting style? Please list the book, a brief, description (parenting values and styles/what it teaches and emphasizes/etc.), and why you love it!
For more information, I’d probably call my parenting style authoritative. I’d like to have a trusting and positive relationship with my children while still being viewed as the “parent” and leader. I’d like to raise my children to be self-motivated and responsible, and teach this in a calm manner. Not just “do this because I said so”, but “do this because ABC.” But I also would like some books about having fun and other lighter topics too! Or any that you think are really great.
I already have “Hunt, Gather, Parent”, “Whole Brain Child”, and “How to Talk So Kids Will Listen”.
