2024.06.07 07:19 Bigdumb-bs Ammonia ain't going anywhere.
| Working on a new tank and stuck. Plenty of floating and planted plants some new and some established from old aquarium. Used established filter media (entire filter from aquarium), rocksrocks from old aquarium, fluval stratum under pea gravel, sand in one corner, and driftwood. I've tested everyday, ammonia has remained consistent at 1ppm. I dosed tap with prime, and have added an extra dose of that with seachem stability per instructions every day for the past 3 days. I also have seachem matrix in the filter as well (some new, some from established aquarium). How long till I'm considered "cycled". I'm a beginner, this is my 2nd aquarium and my first one was a bit stressful, and trying not to harm my little dudes before transferring them to the new crib. submitted by Bigdumb-bs to Aquariums [link] [comments] |

Training
40M, 5'2'', 136 lbs. I had no real canned plan I was working from but went by how I felt that given day and how much time I had to train after work. I started this year's training cycle in January 2024. At the time, I had taken a few months off of my 3:25 full last fall and started running to get in shape. Did 4 miles in 41 minutes Jan. 15 and had to take a walk break. Being patient, I built from about 15 mpw to about 50 mpw by March. I did some workouts that included the following, and did them every Tuesday or Thursday. Easy days between during the week, a longer run Saturday and Sunday was an off day:
- 10x1000 at 10k pace w/60 to 90s rest
- 6x1600 at threshold pace w/90 to 120s rest
- 3x2000 and 3x3000 at HMP to MP with 120s rest
I had a slight injury April 6 and cut some time back before tapering to 25 mpw the last few weeks before the Cap City Half. I ran 1:38:33 that day and it was humid but it was a fitness check. I probably would have run 1:36 in cooler weather but I was just grateful to overcome that injury at the time (which I attribute to worn-out shoes).
I took a down week after the half and then, knowing I'd have the 10k a month later, I was doing light weeks of 20 mpw to maintain my fitness without overdoing it. I didn't do much speed though in this transition period, mainly base building and the occasional LR of 8-10 miles.
Pre-Race Taper, Shoes and Food
I work 830a-5p so I'm able to get runs into my schedule but sometimes work runs late and I don't get as much time. I just focused on getting what I could in. When I hit the end of May I cut back a little bit under 20 miles and then 10 miles the week before the race. A mini-taper, but mainly focused on stretching and getting enough sleep to be ready for the 10k.
For the early part of the year I used Brooks Ghost 15s, but they were more neutral than I liked. I transitioned to the Hoka Arahi because it was a control shoe and I overpronate! The Hoka wore out and I wanted to go back to Brooks, so I later used the Brooks Adrenaline GTS (for stability as well). For race day I wore my Vaporfly Next 1%, which I bought used from eBay and they served me well. No stability issues, although they were hard to get used to at first.
Regarding fueling, I would take 1 gel on my 10-mile long run (Gu), have water and some Gatorade, but nothing beyond that. For the 13.1 race I took 2 Gu but generally speaking I just hydrated with my 12oz Nathan handheld and refilled it before each run. The 10-miler was short enough that I was able to make the water last for that time.
The morning of the race I had a bagel with peanut butter, an orange and Kefir yogurt. Nothing crazy.
Race
I woke up at 6 a.m. The race was slated for 8 a.m. Made it to Columbus at 7:10, parked at the Neil garage and found a bathroom. I met up with my run club, took a team photo at 7:40 and then headed to my corral. It was humid, misty and cloudy but otherwise not bad weather at all. No sun.
They played the National Anthem and we were off. It was not as bombastic as the Columbus Marathon but it was a lot less crowded. Having not run a 10k since HS I was shooting to break 44:23 (and at the time it was an unofficial 10k too!). Anything under 45 would have been fine with me. A dream goal was 42:59 but I wasn't really expecting to get that time.
First mile-7:12 Steady effort, watching everyone go out fast on Long Street and down the same winding path that the Columbus Marathon takes. We made a right onto Marconi Blvd. and passed the Courthouse on the right. I tried to catch a CWRC teammate of mine but she was about 2 mins. or more ahead of me. I just kept my breathing steady and took in the sights. Made a right onto Broad and My goal was to stay steady until 4.5M and then go from there. Went over the Discovery Bridge and hit the first mile.
Second mile-7:11 (14:23) Didn't look at my watch much, kept the effort steady. Hit a switchback that took us toward German Village via Town and Washington Boulevard. Went over the Rich Street Bridge, now going uphill. I saw others had slowed up and began catching them. Right on High and headed toward German Village. Went over the I-70 overpass and just stayed focused.
Third mile-7:05 (21:28) Made it into more residential areas. Made a wide left onto East Deshler Avenue and hit Schiller Park. Grabbed water and Gatorade. Another left north onto Jaeger Avenue, another left west onto Reinhard, a dogleg to Whittier and then back north on High. My watch was a little slower than the mile markers but generally speaking I was happy to be under 22:30 for the first 5k.
Fourth mile-6:58 (28:26) Hit Grange Insurance and the Brewery District Kroger. I felt strong at this point and decided to pick up the pace after heading over I-70. I started passing more people, one by one. Back into downtown and tall buildings. 6:58 beeped on my watch. I was happy to see 28:26 and knew that I had a good shot if I could stay under 7:20 for the remaining two miles.
Fifth mile-6:38 (35:04) Hit Rich Street after a long stretch up high, then turned left to kill a stunning downhill stretch. Strava says I hit 3:55 for a 1k split! I just keep pushing. I saw 6:30s-6:40s on my clock and was surprised!
Sixth mile-6:40 (41:44) At this point we were doing the course in reverse. Made it back over the Discovery Bridge and back through COSI. A little girl and her mother passed me, then I passed them. She was yelling to the daughter there was a quarter mile to go! I pushed harder but just focused on catching the next runner after me.
Last 0.2 miles to finish-2:14 (43:58) I just kicked once I saw the familiar finish, similar to how Columbus finishes its marathon. I didn't catch my teammate--she finished 55 seconds ahead of me but I was just happy to get close! The clock read 44:11 and I pumped my fist in victory--I had broken my old time!
Post-Race
Grabbed a banana, did a cool down and generally felt fine, not really sore. I'm so used to the 13.1 and 26.2 distances that the 10k felt like an extended 5k workout. I'm not used to the distance but I'd like to race a lot more! I went out conservative because I knew the hills early on would kill me. I am realizing that if I save more for the last few miles, then that makes racing so much fun. Even if there is no PR every race, being able to finish fast each time makes it great!
Next Steps and Some Context
I have a 5k on 7/6 and am shooting to break 21:00 at the Hilltop 5k. My main goal is to break 3:20:01 at the Columbus Marathon in October. Am hoping to build up to 50-55 mpw on average and have a peak of 70. I just need to run 7:36 pace or faster for 26.2 miles...a far different animal than the 10k. I had a stretch of bad races in 2021 (Even the 3:20:01, my marathon PR, would have been faster with better pacing) and 2022 (DNFed at Warm Up Columbus 23 miles in, but in fairness, it was 5'F and they had the race. This race is a 1-mile loop in a random office park and a last chance BQ course!), and was later hit by a car that July. I ran the 2022 Columbus Marathon in 4:03:05 but I was not trained well for it. I am truly grateful to be back running. Last fall's 3:25 in Columbus was a good first step and could have been even faster sans a 2:30-long bathroom break at mile 3 lol :)
That said, I will always love 5k and 10k races for their simplicity and as building blocks to the marathon.
Best of luck to everyone this racing season!

2024.06.05 23:42 556Rigatoni EVgo Stock Analysis, 5th June 2024
'evening to all European fellas, good afternoon to all my American peeps.
I've been scanning through DataViz, one particular stock caught my eye and thought it was actually good enough to take apart, analyze and summarize here in this post.
Premise/Disclaimers: I am currently invested in the stock. Only 1000 shares for now, as I do believe we will have a dip in tomorrow's premarket or just at the beginning of market opening. Secondly, I do not wish to hype the stock. I'm not going to tell you to buy or sell. In this analysis I'll go over the pros and cons and wheter or not you'll want to invest in the stock, that's up to you.
Why post in Shortsqueeze ? This stock currently has a float of 99M shares, of which 35% are shorted. Given the current Volume levels, days to cover value is 14 (but I expect this number to go down if volume increases). There's a squeeze potential, nothing major and certainly not something we should be looking for in the immediate short-term future.
EVgo is a company that buils and operates EV charging (and quick-charging) stations for vehicles/fleets. It has multiple ongoing partnerships with automakers, fleet operators, and various businesses such as Kroger, Whole Foods, etc.
I highly reccomend you check
their website as well.
Their income history has two stories.
2021
- Revenue: $22.21 million
- Gross Profit: $4.18 million
- Net Income: -$18.38 million
2022
- Revenue: $54.59 million
- Gross Profit: $12.42 million
- Net Income: -$34.25 million
2023
- Revenue: $160.95 million
- Gross Profit: $47.92 million
- Net Income: -$74.06 million
Here's also their
Q1 2024 Report.
It's not a very good picture if you take these numbers at face value. However it's worth noting that they have been heavily investing in expanding its operation, increasing the number of charge point across the US as well as making them compatible with a wider range of Electric Vehicles.
Current projections put the stock price between $2 and $7. I personally believe that I see this company as deeply undervalued as of now, sitting just shy above 2 dollars.
Final Considerations I'd like to hear a solid counterargument or opinion on the DD in the comments especially about the Short Squeeze potential it may or may not have. EV market is expanding so i think companies like this are bound to gain more traction in the medium/long term.
Hope you found my first DD (if you can even call this a DD, it's more like a baseline research) any good.

2024.06.05 07:01 surfaholic15 TUESDAY at the LCS and Random Shit
Mostly cloudy, windy, cool in Helena MT and MY SILVER!
https://imgur.com/a/WQvtUvv SO, when we got there today I ran into another Assay Round Collector! Because our LCS just scored over 1400 assay rounds!!! According to my guy the guy that sold the had them in a canvas bank bag, not even tubes lol. The other collector bought 1000.00 worth plus a gold 50 peso Libertad....
I am planning next week to spend about half an hour going through them lol.
The other two-- THE RUBBER DUCK. From the mid/late 70s, and in great shape. And an American Eagle silver trade unit from the same era.
The gold case was looking pretty dang bare today. And they are expanding the Montana items, they have some rarities I would love to get lol. Not happening, they are fairly priced but out of budget...
In other random news, regular gas 3.27/ diesel 3.55. And large eggs were 6.47 A CASE. WOOHOO! We grabbed a case, and you bet I made them fit in the fridge lol. With battery hens being culled again due to H5N1 plus a random noninfected egg farm burning up last week, I expect the price to go up.
Winco had flavored water on a great sale. I got some as a treat.
Costco had my tzatziki sauce back in stock! I grabbed one, since the math showed at the moment buying it is cheaper, by a little bit, than making. Due to the cost of fresh dill and fresh mint...
We also grabbed shredded cheese and butter.
Goodwill has permanently closed their dressing rooms due to shoplifting. Yesterday I picked up 6 pairs of jeans, in 5 sizes, 4 different brands. I got lucky and 3 pairs fit!! Naturally all different sizes. So I now own 7 pairs of pants. In 6 different sizes.
We returned the others today and got a gift card... grr. At least the new pants have pockets (though not Deep pockets). The number of companies making women's jeans with FAKE POCKETS is ridiculous!
It has been odd the last few days. We went on a Sunday drive and ended up in Great Falls where we went to Smith's. It was easy to see what was on sale in the circular since everything on sale was sold out.
And oddly enough, apparently the Fed Reserve is having a change shortage again. Either give exact change on cash purchases, or your total gets ROUNDED UP and the excess is credited to your Kroger card. For use on groceries only, no cigs, no booze, no pharmacy, no gas.
We always carry change ;-). It should be noted the things I did buy on sale (carbmaster yogurt and Oscar Mayer weiners) were prices higher than the regular price last year this time. The clearance meat was no bargain compared to winco either... The place was nearly empty, mid afternoon on a Sunday.
In fact a lot of empty parking lots in great falls. And a lot in Helena yesterday and today too. Costco was at usual shopper levels for first of the month, but I didn't see much in the way of non essential items in carts there or at winco.
Odd.

2024.06.05 02:18 Realistic-Club-6286 Portfolio Critique
Hey everyone 👋
I just started investing this year and really fell in love with the concept of the “dividend snowball” and wanted to share my strategy and see what y’all think!
Note: this is not a 401k or Roth - those have very easy, safe etf plays. But they’re boring and this account is for fun/leftover money.
Being in my mid 20s, I’m more focused on two things - dividend growth and growth companies with the potential to pay dividends (ex: google and meta recently announcing dividends). I also look to have a solid portfolio of 20 companies (not including schd), most of which are supposed to be buy for life. I’d like to be pretty diversified, but I’m most familiar with tech and financials due to my job and almost every position is a company I personally use in my everyday life (except for my spec plays).
I’m trying to get the allocations to be a bit better - some positions like VICI and CP are overweighted just bc of how I started and others are weighted heavily or lightly based on opportunity- NVDA and COST didnt stay low for too long, SBUX and SOFI are easy DCA.
I have two spec plays, PLTR and SOFI that are kind of low cost gambles, they’re a $15 here or there kinda thing. Their balance sheets are pretty solid and I have a decent understanding of their business models so that’s why I picked those - I’m very aware of their cult-ish status lol
I do like to have around 4-5% in SCHD purely for “motivation” as building dividend growth stocks doesn’t increase your annual returns as much. Sometimes seeing “number go up” is important lol
Let me know what you guys think my top 5 or so or bottom 5 plays should be and why or just any general critiques you have! Maybe I should cycle some out eventually for something else, maybe I’m too underrepresented in some area.
Companies I’m looking at, but didn’t have good entry points: DPZ, TOL, DKS
Thank you!

2024.06.03 22:53 Hallelujah289 Graeter’s Black Raspberry & Haagen Dazs Coffee vs Private Selection!
This week I’m trying two signature flavors from two premium brands:
- Graeter’s and their most popular Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip with their signature soft chocolate chips and French Pot style of making ice cream. $6.99 for 16 oz pint.
- Haagen Dazs Coffee flavor, one of their original three flavors from the 1960s. $5.98 for 14 oz pint.
And comparing these two from when I tried two Kroger Private Selection flavors from about a month ago. (
Note: both of these flavors are also available in large 48 oz tubs for $6.99.) It’s been a while and I don’t have these flavors in front of me, but you can read my original thoughts
here. * Private Selection - Black Raspberry Dark Chocolate Chunk. $3.79 for 16 oz pint. * Private Selection - Coffee. $3.79 for 16 oz pint.
Graeter’s Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip vs Private Selection Black Raspberry Dark Chocolate Chunk: * Graeter’s Black Raspberry enjoys a mythical status among ice cream lovers. I’ve had it previously in a birthday ice cream cake and this time have it in a pint for the first time. * The calorie count and grams per cup weight is much higher than Private Selection’s similar flavor, at 390 calories and 144 grams vs the latter’s 280 calories and 109 grams per 2/3 cup. * Despite the higher calorie and weight of the Graeter’s, I did not notice a significantly denser ice cream. Perhaps it is that fruit naturally introduces more water content. (
Note: My picture of the Private Selection ice creams are not a fair comparison as those are melted 20+ minutes and the Graeters/Haagen Dazs ones are less than 5 minutes out the freezer.) * What the Graeter’s does have is better black raspberry fruit flavor. Not that I’ve tasted black raspberry fruits before, but I noticed a beginning, middle and end to the fruit flavor. While perhaps the Private Selection is a little more concentrated (like a raspberry sorbet taste) but also more one note. Still very good and not artificial tasting, but not as dimensional. * As far as chocolate goes, my preference is the Private Selection. Its name describes it accurately: dark chocolate chunks. Yum. Large, crunchy, and with a fruity dark chocolate flavor that sings with the tarter black raspberry flavor. The “chocolate chip” of the Graeter’s s flavors is more like shales of slightly hardened chocolate ganache. Unique, and authentic chocolate flavor. More of a milk to semi-sweet chocolate. Sometimes there was a massive hunk which was enjoyable. Still, I preferred the former. However, the milkier taste of the Graeter’s chocolate did complement its nuanced blackberry well as a background partner. * Rating: tied! Get Graeter’s if you want the best fruit flavor. Get Private Selection if you enjoy dark chocolate.
8.5/10 for Graeter’s. 8/10 for Private Selection. Haagen Dazs Coffee vs Private Selection Coffee. In a very recent coffee lover’s taste test video having both flavors, Private Selection Coffee came out as the overall winner. The reviewer enjoyed its slightly bitter coffee flavor that rises at the tail end of a spoonful of this ice cream. They enjoyed the coffee flavor over other more “latte” flavors they tried. I have summarized the video
here. Here’s my thoughts: * Haagen Dazs Coffee is a bit softer of an ice cream than Private Selection Coffee, which I remember as being a little more dense (despite my picture which shows it melted). However to my surprise, the label shows Haagen Dazs Coffee as having slightly more calories and slightly more grams per 2/3 cup, at 300 calories and 128 grams vs Private Selection’s 270 calories and 125 grams. * What can account for the difference as that Haagen Dazs Coffee does have a higher delicious milk and milk fat taste. I used to drink half and half by itself in the little cups and this is something like that taste. * Both coffee ice creams have a lightly roasted taste. Not having the two ice creams both in front of me, I think the Haagen Dazs has a more even coffee flavor, while the Private Selection starts as mild and gets stronger and then buzzes. * Haagen Dazs is probably the milkier, sweeter ice cream (yet is actually 1% less sweet than Private Selection??). Similar to Starbucks Frappuccino in the glass bottle. Private Selection a little more bitter, less sweet. But not an intense, strong black coffee either. * Rating: I enjoyed the Haagen Dazs more and thought it had a more pronounced coffee flavor earlier than the Private Selection. However, the coffee lover’s review I mentioned above makes me doubt myself. Perhaps a retrial is needed?
Haagen Dazs 8/10. I originally gave Private Selection 6.5/10 as I was a bit disappointed in it as a pint, but noted it would make a great base flavor for mix ins. When I tried Haagen Dazs Coffee, I thought this is the ice cream pint Private Selection Coffee wants to be. * On reflection I think the Private Selection probably deserves 7/10, especially if you treat it as an ice cream base. Recommendation: get as a tub and add mocha syrup, chocolate Java chips or espresso grinds. (Like Starbucks Java Chip Frappuccino.)
Overall, no bad ice creams here. I think Private Selection Black Raspberry Dark Chocolate Chunk is similar to the Graeter’s but actually has its own distinct flavor profile. It’s not a dupe but a worthy alternative. Which is what I’ve been saying but can now confirm. However, those who enjoy the natural, slightly mild flavors of Haagen Dazs fruit flavor ice creams will probably love the Graeter’s more. Personally I will get the Private Selection as it’s cheaper! And it turns out good dark chocolate is a little hard to find.
Fun fact: Graeter’s and Kroger Private Selection ice creams are both made in Cincinnati, Ohio. The factories are a 20 minute drive from each other. And both companies started in Ohio in the late 1800s.
Can someone else also test Private Selection Coffee vs Haagen Dazs Coffee? Perhaps I have forgotten too much!

Hello! I wanted to share my experience so this does not happen to anyone else. CXE/CSE customer service evaluations/customer service experts owes me around 10,000 and is past the due date for payment. I have called and they do not return my calls. I have emailed and they ignore my emails This company is really odd because they try and make contact information difficult and they also restructured their company so they can try and sidestep litigation. However do not work for them. Nola Penny and Sabra Conley are the two main people who know about the illegal/unethical non-payment and do not care. They put a bad name to mystery shopping. They work with companies such as Westfield and various airports and merchandise jobs such as Kroger.
