2024.05.29 02:24 OwnCryptographer445 I’m doing carnivore, but how is it possible in a natural world for anyone to access this much fat?

When I look at the natural world, I see only a few sources of fat (1) nuts and seeds, (2) animal meat and dairy, and (3) avocados - are they fruit?
A friend of mine knows the guy who "created" the new avocado that is higher in fat. I guess before that they were more watery, or maybe there were fattier ones in places like Mexico, fatty but tiny. Olives I think would fit in a similar category.
Anyway, coconut, avocado, and olives aside, because they aren't trees grown all over the world, there are only (1) nuts and seeds, and (2) animal meat and dairy.
But the problem with using meat as a source of fat is that grassfed animals don't have THAT much fat. Sheep and goats are closer to an ideal fat ratio, but there have been ancient cultures (Egypt) that found eating sheep abominable (perhaps they ate pork).
If you start to learn about survival, you will find that you should NOT consume lean meats because you will die faster eating them than not eating them (so we are told). This may be one reason there are lists in the Bible that exclude the eating of certain animals.
But, again, wild animals are just not THAT fatty. And even though humans have been domesticating livestock for a long time and consuming dairy products, it's unthinkable that they ONLY ate the cream and butter made from the cream.
I know on the carnivore diet you can eat other forms of dairy, but I'm just making a point about fat.
From a Biblical perspective, Adam and Eve didn't consume animal fat or dairy, and weren't created to need to.
They must have been getting their fat from somewhere. Yes, possibly nuts and seeds, but then why do nuts and seeds cause so many issues for people today?
And is it possible that our gut bacteria can make essential fatty acids? Actually they can. But is it possible that a large amount of the body's need from fat should be manufactured in the gut?
What if carnivore and high fat are only working because the body needs fat, but what if we're missing something?
Am I wrong that in the natural world there is just not THAT much animal fat? Is it possible that consuming this much fat is only possible in the modern world and with modern agriculture?

2024.05.29 01:24 Hermeticrux Seeing people's experience thoughts

So I'll try to keep this as concise as possible. Throughout my life I have come to experience events and things that are hard to explain that pointed me into spirituality (as a very broad thing). Maybe around 23 I started really following the pieces as I stopped warring with myself about losing my mind. I accepted that maybe I am insane so let's see where this takes me. I realized the power of intention and energy regarding the symbology that appears in my life. At first it was the number 13, (and still being unsure about what any of it truly was) I immediately thought it to be sinister. It followed me everywhere into extremely "coincidental" situations where eventually I couldn't NOT accept that it's following me. I sought experience (much like now) from a friend who helped me transition into accepting this whole thing. She helped me unknowingly by being her weird true self and in sharing her weird hibbidy hibbidy stuff. My mind exploded because I realized she was sharing the exact same experiences I had.....without me ever mentioning it. I knew then that there was something to this. She told me that symbology could honestly be anything I want it to be. It's about intent. Somehow I played with it. I accepted 13 and then once I was no longer afraid and running away from it I progressed to understanding that for me it was an indicator of a learning experience. It was important. When I saw it I had to pay very close attention to every aspect of my life as it was recently, is now, and moving forward. It was a sign. I believed it to be and so it was. But not first without showing itself. Eventually (I can't explain how it just felt intuitive) I renounced the power from that symbol as I was changing my life for the better (unrelated life choices I was making to fix myself). I decided to remove all of who I was to make space for who I want to become. It was shortly after when i approached the practice if intent with an almost child like attitude regarding the material world. I had criminal issues and mental issues stemming from the color red, and so I removed it from my life. I put my energy into other colors. (I have a weird history of getting involved with nasty people and having trauma from it). I began to notice little things more often surrounding the color blue. At first it felt too childish and elementary for these "big brained spiritual manifestations" to take the form of "red bad, blue good". However, I discovered this entire journey originally by accepting it for what it was and not as what I thought it should be.....so I accepted blue I put my energy into it. The next step was the discernment. Learning basically that yes blue is my anchor, but not every blue is so. I begin to notice my affinity with cats. They are my favorite and familiar. My best friend was a cat when I had no friends and they just like me. I identify with them personality wise and they're the best. So I put my power into it. Again. Not every cat and color is a crazy sign but when there is one. That's for sure what they will be. Further in I discover hermeticism. I discover the concept of the net. The history of it. What it teaches. I see the connections of modern day phrases and therapeutic concepts like "law of attraction, and manifestation" to their seemingly forgotten origin in hermeticism (and I'm sure came from those before). I begin to feel nervous and spooned out because oh my God how have I not known that the experiences that shaped my beliefs did so into almost exclusively an actual believe and practice system. To this day I don't purely only believe in anything. Although (wild guess) 80% of what makes sense to me is hermeticism I don't strictly adhere to all, or only it. I disagree with doing that just for the sake of it with anything. I prefer to remain open. I also don't agree with practicing magick for honestly any reason anyone has given me so far. There is always another side.

So. The reason I wrote this is to hopefully catch someone who is on the same page as me with where I'm at, and ask them.

Any idea on the significance of cats? I wouldn't be surprised if it is simply what it has been and nothing more, but just in case I mean. Ancient Egypt, cats, and not once did I even realize that? Maybe I'm missing something more here? Considering what I just said and that I'm putting my intention and energy into hermeticism.
---_-------------------- Not really looking for the person who knows the textbooks and rituals. Looking for someone closer to where I'm at with the experience.

2024.05.29 01:05 Own_Nail2161 Opinion: Lost City is a better tutorial world than Ancient Egypt in PVZ2

For me personally, I feel Lost City acts as a better tutorial world than Ancient Egypt. For one the gimmick, the sun tiles, are not intrusive unlike the graves. The use of Importer also teaches that some gimmicks can help the zombie as much as the player. The zombie selection also allows the game to teach major mechanics, Excavator teaches to not rely on one set of plants, Relic Hunter introduces ambushes to the player, and Importer, as previously stated, teaches how zombies can utilize world gimmicks. Turquoise Skull can be seen as the "heavy" zombie, a notable danger in the world that should be accounted for. Bug and Parasol Zombies are more minor tutorials, being used to showcase new scenarios involving different combos of zombies. If you told me that was the first world, I would belive you. I wonder if other people share this same opinion or can expand this topic with their own analysis, if anything this could influence mods to make Lost City the first world instead of Ancient Egypt because I feel like that adds some freshness.

2024.05.28 22:06 whenshallwe [TOMT][childrens tv series] series about two siblings searching for their father

First of all english isnt my main language so sorry for lanky grammer :D i must have watched this series between 2007-2011 but it was dubbed for tv in my country so it can be made in early 2000s.
Ok so there are two siblings: one older brother and one younger sister, the sister is in a wheelchair. They are both white, probably american but since it was dubbed im not sure.
They are searching for their father who went away to search some kind of artefact(?). To search their father, one of them enters a screen and is teleported to time&place seen in the screen (it usually being ancient times like ancient egypt or greece). To escape from the screen they have to touch one specific item special to the place they have been sent to, i dont remember how they knew the item they are supposed to touch.
A main point that i remember is when the sister enters the screen, she can walk perfectly, unlike her normal self which uses a wheelchair.
Thats everything i remember, hope this helps!

2024.05.28 19:42 auraleaf10 Theory: Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, Hercules, and The Lion King all take place in the same universe

I'm proposing a fan theory that Hercules, Aladdin, The Lion King, and The Little Mermaid all take place in the same universe. ...I don't subscribe to the idea that all of the films in the Disney animated canon take place within the same universe, but there is some evidence that these four, at least, do.
Note: this is just for fun; I don't actually believe that a shared universe was the intention of the filmmakers when these movies were initially made.
Firstly, the film at the center of this theory linking all of the other films together is Hercules, so let's see how it connects to the other three:
The Lion King Scar's pelt was shown in the movie, being worn by Hercules when he's posing for a painting. I know this was just meant to be a reference and not actual evidence of these two movies taking place in the same universe, at roughly around the same time...but it's more fun to think that they do. Now, it was clearly implied that Scar was killed by the hyenas at the end of The Lion King, but isn't actually shown on screen, of course. So how the pelt wound up in Greece is a mystery that's probably better left unsolved. There's nothing else in the original Lion King to either support or debunk this theory, as, since it takes place on the African savannah with no human characters or technology present, it could essentially take place during any time period.
Aladdin Aladdin and Hercules actually had a crossover episode between their two TV shows in the 90s, in an episode titled "Hercules and the Arabian Night." If this crossover episode is to be taken at face value, that's evidence enough that not only do these two take place in the same universe, but also take place during the same time period, as the characters met and interacted with each other with no time travel involved. Now, Aladdin is probably the most difficult film to date, as it has too many cartoonishly anachronistic elements and cultural amalgamations in it to assign it a definitive time period. (There's even that infamous fan theory that it actually takes place in the far future.) Some have cited the usage of Arabic words to be evident that it must take place during the Islamic Golden Age, although the language actually predates Islam, so the usage of the language doesn't actually help us narrow down the time period all that much. But, if the Aladdin sequels and TV series are generally considered canon (I'm not sure if they are) then it has to be set around the 13th century BCE, due to the presence of characters and mythological creatures from ancient Egypt and ancient Greece, such as Mirage, Chaos, Nefir, Mechanicles, and of course Hades and Hercules, in the aforementioned crossover episode. ...There is minor evidence in the original movie that supports this dating, such as the appearance of an Egyptian carving the Sphinx during the magic carpet ride scene. Although as previously mentioned, there are plenty of anachronistic elements in the movie, even beyond the Genie's modern pop-culture references, such as the Forbidden City and fireworks also being depicted in the magic carpet scene, or Iago being a New World parrot, and llamas, a New World mammal, being shown during the Prince Ali song. There seems to be the most evidence pointing towards 13th century BCE dating, though.
The Little Mermaid The connection to this one is fairly obvious if you know your Greek mythology: Ariel's father is Triton, who is the son of Poseidon. Poseidon is Zeus's brother, making Ariel and Hercules cousins. Unlike Aladdin and The Lion King though, The Little Mermaid can't possibly take place at the same time as Hercules, being set presumably some time around the 1800s.
What do you think of this theory? And are there any more loose connections that link other Disney movies to this supposed shared universe?

2024.05.28 18:43 JohannGoethe Type: E167; thing: “two oxes 𓃽 [E32] or 🐂 pulling a plow 𓍁 [U13]”; significance: origin of the myth of the Phoenician A (𐤀), Greek alpha (A), and Hebrew aleph (א) being associated with an ox or “ox head 𓃾” (Gardiner, 39A/1916)

Type: E167; thing: “two oxes 𓃽 [E32] or 🐂 pulling a plow 𓍁 [U13]”; significance: origin of the myth of the Phoenician A (𐤀), Greek alpha (A), and Hebrew aleph (א) being associated with an ox or “ox head 𓃾” (Gardiner, 39A/1916)
Abstract
(add)
Overview
The following is type E167:
https://preview.redd.it/2kevc4wox63d1.jpg?width=876&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=64aa9ccd54be9df5c12b2477fcfe172f634fa22f
Showing two oxen: 𓃽 [E32] pulling a plow 𓍁 [U13].
In A67 (2020), George Douros, in Aegyptus (pg. 70), listed E167 as follows:
https://preview.redd.it/6r0tdpw3y63d1.jpg?width=1592&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c639cc1fef8efac46674c8bafe7aee892e92ac83
Alphabet
The following shows the four oldest letter A types in Abecedaria, with the Izbet A and Zayit A being the two oldest Phoenician A (𐤀) types, each of which being an Egyptian hoe 𓌻 » 𓌸 » 𓌹, in letter type:
https://preview.redd.it/1qbv3qq2k73d1.jpg?width=1816&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0583b1f4c41b173220785c9f4ca1830d490d0192
Neither of these, to clarify, looks like an “ox head 𓃾 [F1]”, which is the incorrect Gardiner (39A/1916) theory of the origin of the Phoenician A, which the world presently largely believes like ingrained dogma.
In 1850A (+105), Plutarch, in Convivial Questions (§:9.2.3), citing the Cadmus myth, commented how the Phoenicians called their first sign: 𐤀 by the Greek name the BOYS (βοῦς) {boûs}, meaning: “cow 🐄, ox, or cattle“, by the name alpha:
“Cadmus, as the story goes, placed alpha the first in order, because a cow [βοῦν] is called ’alpha’ by the Phoenicians [Φοίνικας], and they account it not the second or third (as Hesiod doth) but the first of their necessary things?“
— Plutarch (1850A/+105), Convivial Questions (§:9.2.3) (Greek) (English)
The term BOYN (βοῦν), to clarify, is accusative-singular of βοῦς (boûs), rendering, in Wiktionary, either as: “cow 🐄, ox 🐂, or cattle”, depending:

Noun

βοῦς (boûs) m or f (genitive βοός); third declension
  1. cow, ox, cattle
  2. shield quotations ▼
The following, to clarify, is Classified Zoological Index, of the Loeb edition of Plutarch’s Moralia, Volume 12, which shows boûs defined as “domestic ox, Bos taurus L.” meaning: species “Bos taurus Linnaeus, 1758“:
https://preview.redd.it/rjk284wql73d1.jpg?width=1716&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=785c56f7ef75a0543ee3d5667d2a43bcca19ddff
Wiktionary entry on βοῦς, shows the following image:

In 39A (1916), Alan Gardiner, in his ”The Egyptian Origin of the Semitic Alphabet”, assigned an animal head found in the Sinai mine so-called “unknown proto-Semitic script”, to be the origin of the Phoenician A (𐤀):
“The signs of the unknown so-called ‘proto-Semitic script’, discovered by Petrie (A50/1905), made between 3455A (-1500) and 3055A (-1100), written on the cave walls and Sphinx figurines [no. 345], in the turquoise mines of Serabit el-Khadim, in the Sinai peninsula, are NOT the work of indigenous Semitic nomads, but rather the work of strangers from other parts, who accompanied the Egyptians on their expeditions, possibly learning to write in the Egyptian schools, according to François Lenormant’s argument, but are NOT Egyptian hieroglyphs, but signs borrowed from that source. The likeness of 𐤀 to an ox’s 🐂 head 𓃾 has always appealed to me personally!”
— Alan Gardiner (39A/1916), ”The Egyptian Origin of the Semitic Alphabet” (ox’s head, pg. 7; Semites learned to write in Egypt, pg. 11; script, pgs. 12-14) (post)
In Hebrew, likewise, aleph (א), according to alphabet lore, is said to mean “ox”.
This combined alphabet folklore association of Phoenician A (𐤀) with ox 🐂 has since convinced nearly everyone that the Phoenician 𐤀 is an inverted ox head 𓃾.
Thims
In Feb A68 (2023), LibbThims had determined (see: letter A decoding history) that the Phoenician 𐤀 (A) is an Egyptian hoe: 𓌻 » 𓌸 » 𓌹, and that the “ox 🐂” association with alpha and or aleph is code for plow (𓍁) pulled by ox (🐂), and NOT based on the shape of an “ox head” (Gardiner, A39); visually as shown below:
https://preview.redd.it/gmdqvql5m73d1.png?width=1935&format=png&auto=webp&s=88b572accf0045548cd60cd6559954bf7a871301
The following, accordingly, is the updated letter A type evolution:
𓏤 » ☉ » 🌬️ » 💨 » 𓆄 » 𓁃 » 𓌼 » 𓌻 » 𓌸 » 𓌹 » 𓌺 » 𓍁 » 𐤀 » A, α » 𐡀 » ܐ » 𐌀 » א » Ⲁ » 𑀅 » अ » 𐌰 » ᚨ » ﺍ » a
which shows that letter A originated as an Egyptian hoe: 𓌺, but latter became used as a plow: 𓍁, in the Aramaic A (𐡀), Syriac A (ܐ), Hebrew A (א) letter type evolution range.
On 7 May A69, Thims posted the following poll, which stirred out a good amount of discussion (27+ comments):
https://preview.redd.it/xl4c2b1u573d1.jpg?width=1300&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9186715372c9a53ce2ae6d074460ff9249a3af2c

2024.05.28 18:25 Night-Undone I don't think these games are made for me anymore

I grew up with Assassin's Creed. The first game was the first rated M game I have ever played. I have been a big fan of the series. Ubisoft also used to be my favorite developers. They were developers that were very interested in telling unique stories and didn't chase what was popular, in fact they were the trend setters making tactical fps games popular. All my favorite games were made by them. Far Cry, Splinter Cell, Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon, and of course Assassin's Creed.
I recently played every AC game again, as well as every game from other series like Far Cry, but focusing on AC I just don't know what to think. There were a quite a few games I never played. Revelations, AC 3, Rogue, Syndicate, Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla. Basically after seeing the trailers for Syndicate I wasn't happy with AC anymore. I almost played Origins when it came out because Ancient Egypt is my absolute favorite thing in the world with pirates being second to that but after seeing they turned it into an RPG it heavily dissuaded me from playing it. Open world RPGs are actually one of my favorite genres but is very distinctly not Assassin's Creed.
So I started playing them all. I refelt that wonder of playing the first few games again. AC2 and Brotherhood are still some of the best story telling in the series and were an absolute blast to play. Going into Revelations, I never played it because the trailers showed Ezio in cold and grey environment and I just didn't want to play a whole game in that setting when I was younger, but to my surprise actually playing the game it is still one of, if not the most, colorful games in the series. Only the first mission takes place in the trailer setting and the rest takes place in my actual new favorite setting in the series, Constantinople. The story was also great and very emotional, even though it doesn't have much impact on the overarching narrative, it had a great personable story. Going to AC3, kids at school spoiled the ending for me so I just never picked it up but after playing it myself... The gameplay was a huge improvement over the previous games however the story and honestly the setting just weren't my favorites. It was okay, and the modern day served as a good end to the first ARC of the games but the Assassin story wasn't very good as it's just Connor being the same from beginning to end which felt so weird when the first game was all about Altair's growth and then a literal trilogy of Ezios growth, to going to a character that felt pretty one dimensional. AC 4 was and still is my absolute favorite game in the series, the lack of a good modern day hurts it but holy does the Assassin story pull the heart strings. I cry every time I play this game, it is just that good. I know at this point people got tired of AC style combat but I think the fun is setting up finishers using every weapon combination and environments. It's one of those easy to learn and hard to master situations. Highly recommend watching a video on AC4 combat to see what I mean. I did play the spinoff games too and they are good for what they are but I am going to focus on the main titles. Moving to Rogue, it was actually surprisingly good. Not great, I think by itself it isn't really anything special but the fact that it actually connects AC3 to AC Unity and makes it part of its own unofficial trilogy made it more enjoyable. AC Unity was great, easily the best parkour in the entire series. The parkour follows AC4 combat where it is easy to learn but hard to master and just feels amazing if you take the time to learn it. The story is also decently good, not the best but certainly better than a lot of the other games.
Now going to Syndicate, I was completely uninterested in playing this game. The gameplay looked boring compared to what came before and they added a grapple hook that removes the need for parkour which I thought was a horrible decision. Now actually playing the game... The gameplay wasn't my favorite, and the grapple did dumb down the parkour but HOOLLLY SHII was the story great as well as the setting. The game is so beautiful and the story was surprisingly amazing. I was so wrong about this game. It is tied for third, with Revelations, for my favorite AC stories. Ezio Trilogy, AC4, and now Syndicate are some of the best games and stories I have experienced.
After the surprise of Syndicate I was looking forward to trying the newer AC games. I had tried to get into AC odyssey before but couldn't but this was a year or two later so I was giving it a second chance with a new mindset starting with Origins.
Origins was interesting. The setting was beautiful and so was the game itself but there was a noticeable quality loss. See every game before this had body motion capture for every movement in the game with facial mo cap coming to the games around AC4 maybe a little later. The beginning of the game cutscenes were beautiful motion captured but soon you would start seeing them be hand animated and it made it look so bad. Not only that but all npcs being hand animated even their facial expressions as well as combat all being hand animated. The quality drop felt enormous like they were putting less effort in the quality of the game. But ignoring that, the story was actually really good. As I said before Ancient Egypt is my favorite so the setting did make me happy but it also felt flawed in a sense. I say this because Ubisoft developers in the past used to like bringing attention to underutilized settings and said they would NEVER make AC games in 4 specific settings because they are too mainstream. Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, Viking Era, and Feudal Japan. So the developers straight up going against the original games creative foundations just felt so off to me. Made the game feel even more like a cash cow to capitalize on what is popular.
Back to the story. It was great, really great, but it was the side stories that got me. How do you show the character of a man who just lost his son? Have half of the side missions revolve around Children to show how good of a father he is. That was some seriously heartbreaking stuff. I came out of the game pleasantly surprised with the story, and slightly disappointed with the gameplay and systems.
To AC odyssey. I was hoping that the quality loss from Syndicate to Origins wouldn't carry over to Odyssey but it did and the quality was WAYYY worse than even in Origins. Nothing was Motion captured at all except for a certain amount of cutscenes I could count on one hand and now they are PRE RENDERED? Are we in the late 2000s again? The gameplay also absolutely sucked. It didn't feel like Assassin's Creed at all.
The old games, while not perfect, had a system that allowed you to set up different finishers based on weapons, enemies, and environments so if you learned the system you can get a lot of really cinematic fights (Or just parry and attack if you don't learn the system). Now you just do an animation to parry and enemies animations that hit it get knocked back. They aren't motion captured to flow into each other. You can't set up beautifully animated double, triple, and environmental finishers. You just do a generic animation and it bounces everything back.
Going to the Story. The story is the absolute worst story in the series. Horrible horrible horrible. I even got the good/canon ending but it was horrible. None of the choices you make flowed well with the tone of the story and the story just went everywhere, was anticlimactic, and just absolutely horrible. The game looks horrible, it feels horrible, and the story itself was absolutely horrible, and I had to grind my ass of just to experience how horrible it all was. What do people like the game for? It's RPG mechanics but those are all distinctly not Assassin's Creed. Being able to make choices in an AC game is so stupid because the games are about viewing memories so non of your choices even matter anyways because there has to be a canon set of choices to make the continuity make sense and picking the gender of your ancestor in the present day as well, how the hell does that even work? To 100% the old games you had to do exactly what your ancestor did on missions to be 100% synchronized with them. That is just gone. Everything that the old games stood for are not even close to being present in Odyssey... Except for the DLC.
That DLC, you know the one, Is so F***ing amazing it's tragic. How the hell does such a crappy game have this good of side content. It gives us so much we have been wanting in some older AC games with good modern day story and some mystical shit. Why does the best part of the game have to be locked behind an additional paywall?? At launch you would have had to pay 100 dollars just to get the best part of the game. It sucks, absolutely sucks.
Odyssey killed me. I get people like it as an RPG but man does it make this game feel like total crap compared to other AC games.
Play Syndicate then Odyssey and see the quality difference. Or watch all story cutscenes for both games and see it for yourselves. Odyssey just was not it for me. It actually killed my interest in these games.
I got Valhalla and played maybe an hour or two of it over a year ago but I just couldn't play it because of how Odyssey made me feel. I am now questioning whether or not I should play it just to say I did then play Mirage and eventually Shadows. AC games always put Storytelling first, world building and storytelling has always been the foundation of these games and that just felt completely lost in Odyssey, again apart from the DLC.
I get there are so many new fans of the series because of these new RPG games, and I absolutely love RPGs, but I just can't get behind these being AC games. Replaying all the games just shows how much less effort they are putting into things like story to capitalize on the popularity of RPGs. It's disheartening but Im thinking, maybe I should still continue playing the games? It's hard to give up on franchises that were so important to you before but I'm starting to think, well have been thinking, these games just aren't made for me anymore.

2024.05.28 17:41 liltooter Where do we think eyeliner comes from?

Im just curious where we think eyeliner comes from. For me the rest of makeup is self explanatory:
Foundation/powder- to make your skin more appealing
Mascara- to make your lashes look longer
Blush- to give your cheeks some colour etc etc
But eyeliner doesn't really serve such an obvious purpose. My best guess is that it's inspo from the Egyptian look. Ancient Egypt was big in the zeitgeist last century, it's plausible that 20th century woman just liked the look and incorporated it in to their glam. Then through time it just became more normalised.
Am I way off? What's people's thoughts?

2024.05.28 16:41 auraleaf10 Hercules, Aladdin, The Lion King, and The Little Mermaid all take place in the same universe.
