hi, i am starting EMDR therapy for the first time this week. i have been prepping with my therapist for about a month and one of the things i was instructed was not to smoke maryjane the night before an EMDR session. i don’t plan on smoking before the session day of, but the night before will be tough as i use bud to help me wind down/sleep after work. does anyone have experience with being a heavy smoker and starting EMDR? thoughts, expectations? thanks in advance.

27f and just started accutane for cystic acne mostly on my back, but had the occasional one on my face. And smaller acne on my jaw line around the time of my period. My dermatologist started me out on 30mg daily. The first few days I had zero side effects. Day 5 is when I noticed I became much more dehydrated. I typically drink about 50oz of water daily but even doubling that I still wake up in the middle of the night with calf cramps like I used to after too much alcohol consumption lol. Day 6 my lips have become dry. I wouldn’t necessarily say they are chapped because they’re not pealing much (yet) but they are definitely much more dry. I have been applying aquafor to them like crazy though! Day 6 is also when I noticed my knees and ankles are cracking like crazy. Stand up, sit down, walking down stairs, crack crack crack. No pain though! (Hopefully that doesn’t come later). Day 7 my back began to hurt. I am a loader operator so whenever I reverse I have to turn around & when I go a littttlleeee too far I get a sharp pain in the upper part of my spine right between my shoulder blades. That is definitely new for me. No purging yet. My acne still seems just about the same, but that’s expected being so early in the journey. All in all nothing too crazy & I hope the symptoms don’t intensify! I’m excited for the beginning of my journey & hope to hear of other’s experiences as well!

Without going into too much detail, my girlfriend [22F] and I [26M] have been in a happy and loving relationship for about 2 years. Since about three months ago, things have been getting kind of rocky and we've had arguments over simple things. Most of the time its something I have done or said that unintentionally hurt her. Its gotten to a point where we have a fight at least once a week now. She loves me so much but I'm afraid that love is slowly fading because of things I am saying that hurt her. She's a very emotional person so things I wouldn't think would hurt her sometimes do and that's something I have to learn.
We had a small fight yesterday and today she suggested we take a small break of one week to focus on ourselves. At first I thought it was a good idea but the more I read on it the more people say its terrible and only delays the inevitable. To be clear, this break isn't one where we see other people. Its just a self-healing break where in the end we hope to have the same love for each other that we did at the beginning of our relationship. We are limiting our messages to just good morning and good night and we won't see each other for a week.
Is this a bad idea? I can't see my life without her and I know she feels the same with me so I want to do what ever it takes to make this successful. Does anyone have any advice?

My (F29) 2 friends (both F30) from university have created a group chat and are urging me to go to Japan with them, since tickets are cheap right now. I told them that I will be going twice this year already, so I will have to pass on going with them and they can just go together. I don’t want to go with them at all, because I went with them to a different prefecture in Japan 6 years ago and we had so many differences. They are always looking for the cheapest things and places regardless of where it is and what it is. I also had to plan everything and make the itinerary and buy tickets for everything. I was also the designated train expert. I’m okay with staying in cheap hotels as long as it’s in a good location and the bathroom is clean. I’m also okay with taking trains and walking instead of taking taxis, since the price difference is insane and I love walking anyways. What I’m not okay with is eating at 7/11s, family marts, or random restaurants that have 1 star reviews but are cheap. I know I sound crazy, but I love food. I love to eat. I especially love to eat when I’m on vacation. I’m not rich by any means, but I would rather save up and eat whatever I want and go to whatever attraction I want on vacation rather than go there and just stare at food and places I cannot afford. Eating while on vacation is one of the best experiences. Especially in Japan! When I went with them 6 years ago, I wanted to try this yakiniku restaurant, but they did not, since they found it to be expensive. It was about 30USD per person. I acquiesced since they both didn’t want to eat there. They chose this random restaurant with a more affordable menu. The food was about 10USD per dish. I just ate ice cream, because the food did not look appetizing at all and even they were having a hard time finishing it. The bill came and we were all shocked. There was a random door charge that was about $10 each person. I was pissed. They wanted to complain to the waitress, but how in the world were we going to complain when it was probably normal in that area. I just stayed quiet the rest of the night and told myself to just let it go. The next day came and we were in line at this famous tonkatsu restaurant. It was about $20 per meal and when we sat down they only ordered one croquette ($5) per person because they didn’t have want to order a $20 meal. The croquette wasn’t even that big so they were still hungry. My meal was a set and was refillable, so they just ate my rice and soup. It was honestly really embarrassing, because the waitress was staring at us and I just wanted to melt. I’m not dragging them to $100 per meal restaurants here. I completely understand that people have different budgets for different things, but I feel like this is too extreme. We also went to a theme park and instead of riding different rides, they got tired after 3, and wanted to just sit down the rest of the day. I had to go around by myself, because they were too tired. We meet about once a year, because our schedules are too different. Even when we meet I cannot help but think we are just growing apart. We have so many different views on things. We recently went out to dinner and we were just having a good time when one of them mentioned a very delicate topic about another young woman. This woman had an intimate video of her released when she was a minor and they were making fun of her. I saw red. I didn’t shout at them or anything, but I reprimanded them for being vile and I told them if they were going to continue with this conversation, I was leaving. They always stick up for each other, so it always feels like I’m in the wrong, but this time I didn’t back down. They told me I was ruining the dinner, so I said it wouldn’t be ruined in the first place if they just acted like well raised adults. We all went home soon after that. They’ve been acting like nothing happened and have been messaging me and still asking me to go to dinners with them, but I just don’t want to anymore. I can’t help feeling sad, because we’ve been friends for over a decade. They’re going to ask me to go with them again somewhere sometime in the future, and I don’t know how to tell them I don’t want to go with them without hurting their feelings. I’m not even sure if I still want to be friends. I know we’re all old enough to talk about this maturely, but these two are not very mature. When I mentioned that I was already going this year, they both said that it’s because I didn’t want to see them and I was choosing my other friends over them. I don’t know how to handle these two, because all my other friends act their age. My 14 year old sister is easier to reason with. What do I do?

I finally beat classic mode last night and was excited to start running endless. I got all those egg tickets and threw them in for shinies, looked at the fancy emblems on the ones that beat classic, then closed down my game.
Just logged in now and saw that I don't have all those eggs, the emblems on my Pokemon, egg tickets gone, and no endless mode. Save file isn't even there. What happened? Did this happen to anyone else?

I just need to vent. Lately I have been moving, planning my bestfriends wedding and I work 12hr shifts at work. I recently just found out a family member is in the hospital too so I am waiting to see if I need to go there to support my family.
However thanks to my schedule I am being called Dramatic when things stress me out. Which isnt at all fair given the current issues.
With me moving I have to be out by the 19th if May because I have to be in another state for my friends wedding and everyone saying they would help has bailed.

I have no one to talk to and anytime I try its "you are dramatic, I dont like drama, you shouldnt dump this one me" all to so called friends. At this point Idk what to do. Im ready to just quit. Any advise?

When people make top 5, top 10, top 15, etc all time lists people make it seem like the gap between the 1st and 15th best player all time is so astronomically large in their minds that the 15th best player is like a scrub in comparison.
When in reality the 15th best player of all time is an exceptionally good player who is capable at times of outplaying players on the court normally ranked much higher than him on any night.
For example Moses Malone (who’s often ranked in the 12-20 range). He obviously doesn’t have the body of work or the mass appeal that top 5 all time players like Magic and Kareem have but a prime Moses is certainly capable of looking like the best player on the court with those two guys on it (see 1981 WCFR and 1983 Finals).
Another example is Jerry West (also listed in that 12-20 range). Might be one of the most unluckiest athletes in all of sports. In the 1969 Finals he won FMVP despite being on the losing team. And during that series he looked clearly head and shoulders above Wilt and Russell. Two players who are certainly in most people top 10 lists probably even top 3 if this was 50 years ago.
The point I’m trying to make is that the “non top 10” guys are extremely good and that personally I think ranking players numerically just feels kinda off to me if you get my drift. It’s why I don’t personally have or ever will make a top 5, top 10 or top 20 list ever.

My cat has cancer and had a lump removed but it wasn’t enough etc. Naturally, her health is degrading but she has been relatively normal. For a period of about 3 weeks her appetite GREATLY decreased. We were trying different foods, treats, human food, more gravy foods but I was at the point where it seemed like it was time to let go.
I brought her to the vet and they said she was mostly dehydrated (I kind of brought her in to talk about end of life stuff…). They gave her some fluids and then she did a little better for a day. After that she was almost worse than before.
About a week later, after a particularly bad day she had a pretty intense barfing fit in the middle of the night. She was left dazed and tired. I thought “this is it” but all of a sudden she heads to her dish and chows down on all the foods I had been trying her on. A dish of dry food, an entire pack of this hydration stuff and all her treats. Now days later her eating is pretty much back to normal and she seems much better.
What happened? How could one barf fix her ability to eat like that after weeks? Gas? Some muscle thing? I know her cancer isn’t going to go away but she’s so much better since that barf!

My husband and I have one child (3 months old). I am on mat leave, he is working.
About a month ago, my husband started taking weed gummies. He has a high stress job and is diagnosed with GAD. He says he uses it to relax his mind in the evening.
When he’s not high he is very supportive, lends a helping hand when asked and gives me time away from baby. So I was okay with it at first- he’d take them once a week maybe. But now he uses every day after work and I am starting to resent him for it. He is unable to care for our baby under the influence (nor would I want him handling the baby stoned). So I am with baby all day and all night. The clear double standard in this scenario also irritates me- I would be perceived much more negatively by him and others if I were high every night. I’ve had many conversations with him. His solution is to take them when we fall asleep, which seems to have worked so far. I am just missing when my husband was sober 24/7 most days of the week.
Thank you for making it this far into my rant. Any advice or anecdotes are appreciated If you share a similar experience I’d love to know how you’ve handled it.

My journey towards my first injection of Zepbound the Friday before last started at an age earlier than I can remember. I was told that I would finish bottles twice as fast as my brother and sisters did and that was just the beginning. I can remember my first official diet at the age of 10 and can recall the allowances given by Weight Watchers to this day, 6 protein, 5 starch, 5 dairy, 3 fats, and 3 fruits, with unlimited servings of vegetables. At the time this was the accepted way of doing things and the family followed this plan together. We would calculate these portions and buy frozen meals that had these values written on the side. I never would have known that this would be the start of a lifelong battle, where I was accepted and validated while losing weight, dismissed and ridiculed when I wasn’t. In my house weight loss was looked at as a matter of willpower and my father would take me to the grocery store where we would open the bakery cabinet and breathe in the scents of the muffins, brownies, and other pastries without giving in the the temptation of eating any of them. The yo-yoing of my weight started then and continued through 5 years ago, when I was larger than ever and found my way to a weight loss clinic that restricted calories down to 800 a day before building back up over time, mostly through the use of bars and shakes, alongside a meal of protein and veggies. Just like in the past I was able to shed weight on command with a restrictive system, eventually losing 140 pounds, which brought me from 388 down to 248. This was by far the largest loss of my life, having had losses of 90, 75, and multiple losses in the 30-50 range. This time it felt different, but the binge eating at night came back every time I would get to the 250 range. Like clockwork I would creep up and the nurse practitioner would ask if I wanted to try a medication to help and instantly I would take offense and lose the 15 pounds that crept back on, realizing along the way that I needed someone to doubt me, that I needed someone to not believe in me to get back on track. Through this entire journey I had told every person involved that I would be impressed if they could help me keep myself within a 15 pound range for over a year. This method came close but it was always 15 up and 15 down, cycling nearly every other month. This epiphany was met with curiosity and I eventually was referred to a mindful nutritionist that focused on talking through my binge eating issues and removing the good vs. bad labels that I placed on each food my entire life as it relates to food. It took some time to get on their calendar and by then I had risen to 270 pounds. I started this new part of the journey barely eating any real foods and over time I incorporated foods into my life, while removing the labels associated with them. My weight crept up, but I knew this was part of the plan as I judged less and shamed myself even less. I knew this as I had taken up zen meditation over the past few years and along the way I noticed a voice in my head, that voice used my mother’s nickname for me and whenever clothes started to tighten I would hear this admonition, and then one day I realized that I was saying these shame ridden insult out loud to myself. Over the course of a year I reduced my binge eating considerably and accepted more foods into my life. I also noticed that I would often tell my children that “I couldn’t be trusted” with his food and that food and over time I stopped doing these things, both to my benefit and their’s, as the parentification wasn’t good for either of us. Despite all of this I still continued to see the numbers climb, but didn’t weigh myself and felt better than I ever had at such a high weight. As I went past the 300 mark the guilt wasn’t there and the shame was lessened to a a degree I couldn’t imagine. Along this path I believed that the more self acceptance I could show, the less shame I would feel, and in turn I would eat only one hungry, at least eventually. My weight stabilized and I thought I was in my way,but my clothes kept getting tighter, bit by bit over time. At my next physical my doctor looked at my weight and immediately went to suggesting medication. As I tried to explain my work with my nutritionist he was dismissive and kept referring to the work I was doing as being on a diet, which I had refused to do. I was incorporating all foods in my life while not binging and although I physically didn’t feel great, I was proud of the mental place I was in. It was at this time that I began a 4-5 month dialogue between my doctor and my nutritionist. Talking about my goals, fears, and everything in between. I had become comfortable in a bigger body and accepting of it, however I was starting to notice the effect on my psyche, especially at work when I had to present and speak publicly or on camera. I came to the conclusion that I just wanted to be able to exercise regularly and buy clothes at a regular store, staying at XXL sizes or below. My nutritionist was along for the ride and while she never had a patient on Zepbound her approval meant the world to me as I had my doctor place the prescription in at the pharmacy. It was another 2 months before I asked them to fill it and I eventually had it delivered and in my fridge. I had been dismissive of everyone who had bariatric surgery and other interventions, for they didn’t have the “willpower” that I had to lose weight on command. Swallowing my pride I injected myself 11 days ago not knowing what to expect. The injection instead served as admission that I was no better than anyone else and that I could accept medical intervention for something that I just couldn’t solve in any way. After the injection I experienced a profound moment where I went to the pantry prior to a Zoom panel discussion that would have 400 people on it. In this moment I realized that I always came here prior to speaking publicly, it his time was different. I realized I wasn’t hungry and I also realized that my anxiety was lessened in a way far beyond my appetite and impulses. In the 11 days since I have come to terms with the fact that I suffered from anxiety deeper than I ever knew and this new medication made that completely clear. I now move forward hoping to stay in XXL or lower, but fearful that without this medication my anxiety will come back, with my impulsive eating right behind. I then come back to the fact that I will continue the meditation practice, exercise routine, and self acceptance tools that I’ve worked on diligently over the years to guide my path. I don’t know where this journey will take me, but I am glad that I was able to share this publicly for the first time here on Reddit

I'm on the hunt for a co-op video game for PS4/PS5 that would make for a fun date night with my wife. We love playing games together, especially ones that require teamwork. We've played "A Way Out" and really enjoyed it. Some other games we've enjoyed are Fortnite, COD Cold War, Fall Guys, and Minecraft.
We're looking for something engaging but not too puzzle-heavy. We prefer games that don't require us to constantly look up walkthroughs to figure out puzzles. She has her own PS4 and I have a PS5, so the game doesn't necessarily have to be split-screen, but if it is, that's even better since we only need to buy it once.
I was considering another Minecraft date night since we both enjoy it, but I thought I'd ask the Reddit community for some hidden gems that we might not have considered. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Girlfriend(18) and her brother(22) are very close and this doesn't bother me. Recently though, he has been prodding at me with allusions to our bedroom life. For example he's been referencing the word shower alot after me and gf showered together for the first time. and throws me off by kinda jokingly saying things like"don't show you're face here again". He's even in one instance said it would be awkward if his dick was bigger than mine. And I'm thinking HUUUUH??? and when he says these things or messes with me my gf doesn't even defend me and sometimes laughs with him. Last night though I brought it up to her saying I thought his jokes were strange and that I felt disappointed that she didn't stand up for me because I cannot do that to her brother as I need to keep a good relationship with him. After this, she seemed to shut down and said I feel really bad for making you uncomfortable. And was more or less silent of the rest of the night. I asked her a few times what was up but she wouldn't tell me or didn't know. I might have came off a little harsh but I don't know.

I got a pay rise this month so when I get paid I have been planning to treat myself next month. This means I have arranged more plans than usual. I am taking my partner out for a meal on the first weekend of next month, I am planning to go to the cinema the weekend after (either on my own or with my partner if she wants to join me, all paid by me)
The last weekend of the month, me and my partner are going on a double date with a good friend of mine who lives in a nearby city. I was talking to my best friend who lives nearby and suggested we meet up either on one of the free weekends or on the weekend I'm going to the cinema.
He said he'll get back to me with what date works best and let me know but it will likely be one of the free weekends. I was talking to my partner and she seemed annoyed.
I asked what was wrong and she just said I've barely made any plans with her. I pointed out that the majority of the plans I have involve her, it's only the night with my friend and possibly the cinema where she won't be there.
She just said she thought I'd have prioritised plans with her. I told her I have and that one of the first things I did when I found out about the pay rise is booked a table at our favourite restaurant to celebrate.
She just said it seems like as soon as I get the pay rise, I immediately started filling up my weekends with plans with friends and that we only get 1 weekend with just us.
I mention that we have got plans together throughout some of the weeks and that there's nothing wrong with me going to see my friends. She said she thinks I should at least push back my plans with my best friend until July and plan something with her instead but I refused.
