2024.05.14 01:05 thoughtful-rat1 Just cleaned up this ring.
| Already made a post about it looking to identify the maker. No dice. Well, it wasn't in good condition but I cleaned it up pretty good. I believe the stone is (or is modeled after?) spiderweb variscite, but I don't have the knowledge about rare stones to say for sure. It sure looks like it, but it is broken on the side and it almost looks like....plain river rock on the inside 😅? It cannot be scratched by a fingernail. Didn't try anything else. It isn't a crumbly texture. It's black (but the 'inside stone' has a dark olive green and brown sort of look) and the spots are green, it's got a bit of an ombre with a darker green on the inside and lighter on the outside. They all go from light outside to dark inside, but they don't all look the 'same', there is variation. They are all also different, non geometric shapes of different sizes. Likely from the 80s or so. Could have come directly from those jewelry shows by the mines. submitted by thoughtful-rat1 to JewelryIdentification [link] [comments] |
2024.05.14 00:59 AbyzouDev Looking for feedback on my game's visual / audio aesthetic.
2024.05.14 00:57 Decent-Custard-1747 Goodbye Purdue!!!❤️ Thank You for the Journey filled with Sinusoidal Crests and Troughs🙏🏻
After graduation, today I am leaving West Lafayette & Purdue - a place I have called home for past few years. Purdue happened accidentally to me but this place has completely changed my life for the better. I would not wish I had gone anywhere else and would love to live through my time here again. Please bear with me, I would like to vent out my feelings, which am sure many of you would relate to.
Academic & Professional Success : As a student, arrived here with a goal in mind to target a specific field in Computer Engineering. With all honesty, taking absolutely no shortcuts - a fact of which I am proud of, I did some of the most difficult courses under some amazing Professors. For the love of learning, I have toiled hard, given my blood and sweat to grasp the material being taught and accomplish all projects with own genuine efforts. There have been times of absolute frustration and despair but each time I have tried to come back stronger. Was funded throughout my studies here, did few internships at the leading companies where I competed technically with the students from some of the best engineering schools, came out with great success and currenly have a job lined up in the most sought-after technical field.
Personal Struggles : All the above may sound great but I have had my share of struggles. I thought I had found my true love and my Purdue fairy tale could not get any better but it was not meant to be. I did experience a terrible heart break. Also being away from the immediate family for such long periods of time, I have experienced severe loneliness to the point where celebrating festivals became a chore in itself. Having said that on this beautiful and huge campus, I did meet some of the most amazing people who have helped me throughout my stay here, I am sincerely thankful for that. To all the folks who cut contact, left me and present friends thank you for all the wonderful times and making me feel less lonely here, making this journey here a memorable one.
Current and Future BoilerMakers : I am going to miss this place, the little things that this campus offers and the surreal energy levels on the campus - be it snow, rain or spring, students are beaming with enthusiasm. The thrill of looking for on-campus assistantships, searching internships, applying for full time jobs, interviewing and attending fun events/games on the campus with friends were some of the highlights of my stay here. Looking back, I sincerely wish I had studied a bit less, made some more meaningful connections, been more outgoing, had more fun and dealt with my relationships & friendships in a different manner. I know hindsight is 20/20, things worked out professionally for me in the end but along with memories I will carry a lot of regrets with me. I would like to urge each one of you reading this to make most of your time here, give due importance to studying but Purdue is “much more” than that. I hope each of you figure out your “much more” and cherish each and every moment on the campus. All Hail our own Purdue !!! Bolier Up !!!

2024.05.14 00:25 Hansaad How To Research Your Doorknobs
With the uptick in posts trying to identify doorknobs, I thought I'd share a how-to guide on researching that will hopefully give others a starting point in identifying their own doorknobs. I love how this community has a wealth of knowledge, but I am sharing because I know from experience how satisfying it was when my research paid off and I was able to identify my doorknobs on my own
You're getting the abbreviated version; this is what I'd do if I were starting from scratch - prior to learning these tips I spent a long time trying to google my specific doorknobs. This worked for some odd unique ones, but was not very successful for my house's turn-knobs with decoration - partly because lots of knobs share the same motifs and partly because I didn't know how to adequately describe the motifs I was looking at.
- Start with https://www.antiquedoorknobs.us/contents.html - this is an amazing resource with over 2800 different doorknobs in their collection, broken into 24 categories of patterns.
- I will take the second photo from this post as an example. It looked a bit spiraly to me so I started by going to the spirals/swirls section and browsing through looking for a solid circular field surrounded by dots to quickly weed through the options.
- I didn't find an exact match so I studied the doorknob again and realized that it is not so much a spiral as it's exhibiting 4-fold symmetry, so I went to that category and was pretty quickly rewarded by finding the doorknob. The page tells maker, model, and catalogue information.
- Here is where google is your friend - knowing the maker and name of the knob let me google until I found a catalogue containing the doorknob. I confirmed it as a match by comparing the elements of the escutcheon in the catalogue to those in the photo. Antiquedoorknobs does have a repository of catalogues to cross reference, but do note there's a charge. It's up to you if you want to spend the money for a copy of the relevant catalogue, try to find a digital version elsewhere online, or ask for help here or in any other online communities.
For the doorknobs in my house, the cost was cheap enough that I justified the $17 for a copy and eagerly awaited it in my email. A few days later I received it right before going out to dinner. I had a sneaking suspicion I'd confirm some other hardware in our house was part of a matching set, so I earned coolness points with my wife when I let slip I was excited to go home and look at my doorknob catalogue. I confirmed my suspicions about the matching hardware, which was super exciting.
I'm sure there will be exceptions that aren't in the website's catalogue, and maybe there are even better ways to go about researching that I don't know, but this is what worked for me! Hopefully others can chime in with their research tips and tricks. This isn't meant to discourage asking for help, just to shed light on this resource and help others have fun researching their homes!! Do share your doorknobs with us, whether you do need help or if you've had a successful search!

2024.05.14 00:13 Patient_Chocolate411 I am about to make a FemPrimarch OC to feed to the AU gods of this sub
Hello people ! If you read the title, then yes. I am using the vast, fertile soil that are the II and the XI legion to make a new fem primarch to feed to you guys. Now, I am not a great artist, nor a good writer, which is why I am asking you guys for ideas !
Here is the main idea/concept :
- Primarch is a princess from the planet of Sagitarius I. It is an Oasis world, close to Arrakis in terms of environnement. There is a bit more water, with oasis/rivers/cascades. Very dangerous animals and LOADS of gem stones (especially lapis lazuli).
- Heavy babylonian/achaemenid/sumerian inspiration, with her overall personnality and lore being an echo to the Epic of Gilgamesh. The population of this world is mostly organised around city states that battle constantly to expand their empires. The biggest one is Neo-Babylonia.
- She is arrogant, cares a lot about theatrics, but seemed to have developpes a great care for her people. Her biggest flow is probably pride.
- Two possible choices for routes, but one is super tragic and involves necron fuckery, the other I dunno yet.
- I am still thinking about a name and a possible simple legion lore. I looked around and saw the Immortals chapter. Right now, I want to rather go with the "Makers of ways" legion as a name.
- Her main weapon is a giant shield.
- Lots of bulls and lions as iconography.
And that is the basic of things. Do you have any ideas on how I could developp this concept ? And if you have any name suggestions, feel free to give them in the comments !
Have a nice day/night everybody !

2024.05.13 23:12 A-TierTutoring A Comprehensive Guide to the LSAT: Insights from a 174-Scoring 0L
Hey everyone! I thought I'd repost this on my new profile (previously
u/-Legal-Eagle-) for your reference before it is removed from my old profile. Also, if you find my advice useful, please check out my profile for more advice or tutoring services. Feel free to comment or DM me if you need anything.
With my LSAT and law school admissions journey complete, I wanted to take the time to share my journey and hopefully provide some useful tips along the way. I'm sure you will have heard a lot of what I am about to say a thousand times over, but I thought it might be useful to provide a holistic and comprehensive guide that attempts to bring together some of the best advice that I have picked up throughout this process.
Also, this is meant for anyone and everyone including those who haven't even began to think about the LSAT and those with multiple official exams already under their belt. I am going to use some more specific LSAT jargon meant for those with some familiarity with the test, but there will be many general tips for everyone scattered throughout.
I would like to preface by saying that this is largely based on my own personal experience self-studying, tutoring, and working with others. Please consult with many different sources and do your due diligence as you consider each tip I provide. Without further ado, here is my humble attempt at a guide to the LSAT.
When I first began the LSAT grind, I scored in the low 150s on my diagnostic exam, and while this was disheartening at first, I eventually achieved an official exam score of 174 after approximately 5 months of studying. Since I self-studied for the large majority of my journey, I found myself running into various obstacles and having to continuously refine my roadmap to success. Rather than go through the same process of trial and error that I went through, here is the roadmap outline that I would follow if I were to start all over again from blind diagnostic to test day success:
1. Start with a BLIND Diagnostic Exam: While this might seem quite obvious to the more experienced of you, many beginners, including myself at the start of this process, do not know where to begin and might be stuck in a paradox of choice. The best way to get started is to take a completely blind practice exam. Try not to expose yourself to any LSAT study materials beforehand and go into the diagnostic exam knowing as little about the exam as possible. You might be tempted to study beforehand to avoid the disappointment of a low diagnostic score, but you must resist this temptation to avoid any misguided preconceptions or bad habits. Through this diagnostic, you will be able to truly identify your foundational strengths and weaknesses which you could and should revisit throughout your studying journey.
2. Decide on your plan of attack: A mistake that many beginners make after deciding to take the LSAT is jumping into studying without having a structured and thoughtful plan, leading to inefficiencies, lack of focus, and inconsistency. One of the most important factors of success on this exam is the formation of good habits, and you cannot form good habits without a consistent, efficient, and disciplined study plan. There is no one size fits all approach to studying for this exam. However, here are some questions you should ask yourself to find the right plan for you:
What is your goal score? Your answer to this question depends on your long-term goals. Research which law schools would be most suitable for you based on their location, employment data, faculty, administration, student groups, journals, etc. After you put together a tentative list of law schools, look up what their median GPA and median LSAT is for their most recent enrolled class. If your undergraduate GPA (and law schools mainly care about your undergraduate GPA, so do not include any further education) is below their median GPA, then you should probably aim to surpass their median LSAT by at least a few points. However, if your undergraduate GPA is at or above their median GPA, then you should still aim to surpass their median LSAT, but you will still be in a strong position if you score at their median LSAT. After this research, you should have a goal score range by which you can gauge your progress and adjust your studying.
What is your timeline for taking the exam? Setting a timeline for your studying is important to staying focused and disciplined. Decide on which official exam you will be sitting for and then make a study schedule that allows for at least 150-300 hours of studying leading up to the exam. For example, if you are planning to take the August exam, you have approximately 13 weeks to study. Hence, you should dedicate yourself to studying 15-25 hours per week until the exam. Of course, the number of total hours you study depends on your diagnostic score and your goal score, as well as how quickly you progress while studying. If you find that halfway through your study schedule, your score has not substantially improved or you still have to make significant progress to reach your goal score, you may decide to ramp up your study time to 30 hours per week. The most important step here is that you commit to consistent study time, and that you remain flexible as you gauge your progress throughout the journey.
What learning styles/mediums work best for you? This is a matter of both preference and accessibility. Not all learning resources are equally available to everyone. However, many learning programs and materials are becoming increasingly affordable, giving everyone at least some choice in their method of study. Most importantly, you should do research into what your options are and weigh them accordingly. There are a variety of LSAT books available both new and used including but not limited to the LSAT Trainer, the Loophole, and the PowerScore Bibles. Of course, using a book requires a higher degree of discipline and self-accountability. On the other hand, there are a variety of online programs as well which provide a similarly structured curriculum and will even integrate your personal study schedule such as 7Sage and the LSAT Demon. You may even be able to find a relatively inexpensive tutor through Reddit or Wyzant if you require a bit more external accountability or a more personalized approach.
Lastly, what study methods are most effective for you? Everyone should incorporate a mix of foundational concepts, drilling, and practice in their studying, but it's important to recognize which method is most effective for you. Perhaps you find taking PTs (practice tests) garner the greatest score increases. Hence, you should dedicate more study time to taking PTs. Throughout your journey, you should constantly be aware of which study methods are most effective and adjust accordingly.
Once you have definitively answered these questions, you will have prepared yourself to optimize your study time and decrease your exam anxiety. Those preparing for the LSAT might be overwhelmed by the sheer amount of content and their limited timeline, but, by crafting a practical and efficient study plan, you won’t be inundated with content and will be assured that you are making the best use of your time.
3. Learn the Material: Now that you’ve set yourself up for success, it’s time to actually sit down and do the work. In the following, I’ll outline some of what I found to be the most important strategies and concepts for each section of the exam:
Logical Reasoning: Logical Reasoning is the core of the LSAT. The lessons learned from this section are essential throughout the exam and need to be learned inside and out. To succeed in this section, you need to learn the language of the test makers, argumentation. Every question contains an argument, and you need to be able to translate those arguments by learning to identify their building blocks: background information, premises, sub-conclusions, and conclusions. Once you’re fluent in argumentation, every stimulus becomes substantially easier to simplify and understand. Second, your argumentation toolbox is not complete without the ability to identify flaws in argumentation. A large proportion of the arguments put forward in LR questions are not foolproof, in fact, some of them are really bad. Additionally, these arguments are only flawed in a limited number of ways, and you need to be able to identify each of the fallacies that the test makers have at their disposal such as ad hominem, causation, and circular reasoning flaws. The ability to identify these flaws will allow you to answer the majority of questions on the exam since, by knowing the flaw, you will be better able to attack it, resolve it, or point it out. Last, but not least, know your question types. There are only a limited number of question types that the test makers will put forward and you can easily look up what these question types are. For each question type, you should have a unique approach and understand what reoccurring signals to look for in the stimulus and answer choices. While I won’t repeat this for the other sections, this is true of every section.
Reading Comprehension: You will hear from many people that reading comprehension is the hardest section to learn, and this is true in some sense. Success in this section relies on skills that are developed throughout one’s education. However, there are many strategies that can boost your performance and bolster your skills. Developing a reliable shorthand/note-taking system is a priority when learning this section. A shorthand system can reduce the time you spend on questions and also allow you to better retain crucial details. Your system depends on your preferences, strengths, and weaknesses, and discovering your approach will require some trial and error as you test different note-taking strategies. For me, I would write a very short (4-5 words) summary of each paragraph as I finished reading it. I would also utilize the LSAC interface’s highlighters to color code different components of the passage’s argument (e.g., orange = conclusion/main idea). This system was designed in order for me to easily distill the most important aspects of the passage and allow me to easily reference the text for smaller details. There’s no way of getting around this next obstacle though and it has to be faced head on: your reading speed. Reading comprehension requires a balance between reading speed and information retention (i.e., the faster you read, the less information you retain and vice versa). However, if you can increase the speed at which you read without sacrificing any information, there is no downside. That is why I’d recommend reading non-LSAT material in your free time through magazines, novels, and newspapers. Of course, this will help you to both increase your reading speed and your reading stamina. Lastly, this next tip that I utilized during every reading comprehension section I took is more focused on your mindset when approaching the section. No matter what the substance of the article, convince yourself mentally that you are incredibly interested in the subject matter. It may be difficult to trick yourself into enjoying some of the drier topics, but simply telling myself that I wanted to know more about the subject and actively asking questions about the material led to increased focus and closer analysis.
Logic Games: If you are registered for the June LSAT, then this especially applies to you. If you are planning to take the exam at a later date, you will not have a logic games section, but you should still read the following. These skills as well as previously mentioned skills/tips apply across the entire exam and do not exclusively apply to any one section. First, master formal logic. Your mastery over the rules of formal logic and your ability to apply them is the difference between -5 and -0 on logic games. When I say master, I mean that if someone were to wake you up in the middle of the night and ask you to identify the necessary and sufficient condition in ,”I will not go outside unless it is sunny”, you should be able to answer in under five seconds. This will allow you to easily unravel and represent convoluted language in a significantly more understandable and digestible way. Along with this, develop a foolproof diagramming method that does not consume too much time but also is easily understood in a high-pressure environment. Before I had perfected my diagramming, I would often represent rules, game boards, and pieces in a confusing manner which led to me forgetting about certain aspects of the game or misapplying a rule. Your game diagrams should be compact and excessively clear in what they represent. Logic games are already difficult as is so do not make it more difficult by making a confusing diagram. Last but not least, make deductions. I have heard that some people choose to make deductions as they work through the questions, but I found it much easier to make as many deductions as possible before jumping into the questions. At first, I struggled to uncover key inferences which led to wasted time and wrong answers. However, after diagramming a game, I began to move through each rule one by one, and examined how each interacts with the game board as well as every other rule. Another rule of thumb for making inferences is identifying rules in which a game piece repeats (e.g., “A is before B” and “B is before C” both include B) and seeing if you can uncover any resulting conclusions.
These tips are in no way exhaustive, but I hope that they provided a good overview to guide your studying and help you make incremental improvements.
Step 3: PRACTICE Now that you have learned all of the fundamentals of each section, it’s time to put them to use. After all, learning all of this material is pointless if you can’t apply it on test day. Practice is an essential component of your test preparation for two primary reasons. First, it allows you to develop a standardized routine. When I say routine, I mean every logistical/strategic aspect of the exam including but not limited to your pre-exam preparation, your logic games diagramming method, your reading comprehension note-taking/shorthand method, time management strategies, and more. You should have deliberated upon, tested, and habituated each of these routines prior to your official exam by implementing them during PTs under test-day conditions. The LSAT is already a very stressful exam so you do not want to waste the precious time you have on exam day thinking about how you should annotate a reading comprehension passage, for example, and tinkering with different strategies. No, your strategies should already be tried and true on exam day. Second, if you never practice taking the exam, you will never know where you need to improve. Taking PTs are incredibly important as they allow you to evaluate your progress and signal which concepts, sections, or questions you need to work on or revisit.
Now, how should you practice? There’s no getting around it. You need to take practice exams under simulated official exam conditions. Set a timer for each section, take the required break between sections, and only use the equipment that will be allowed on test day (i.e., authorized computer, water, scrap paper, writing utensils, etc.). This is the only way for you to estimate how you will perform on test day and accustom yourself to the conditions of the official exam. I completed approximately 2-3 practice exams every week leading up to my official exams. It is even better if you save the more recent practice exams for the week or two before your official exam since those are going to be most similar to your exam. However, it is important that you do not just mindlessly take practice exams which leads me to my next point: blind review.
I know, I know, blind review is extremely time consuming and tedious, but it was essential to my success on this exam. If you do not know what blind review is, it is basically when you do not reveal the correct answers of a practice exam after you have completed it, but instead complete the exam over again by checking and revising your answers. At the end of this process, you will have two scores: your actual score and your blind review score. The main reason for this is that you will now be able to see more clearly where your weaknesses lie. If you corrected a previously incorrect answer during blind review, then you likely got it wrong due to the time constraint or testing anxiety rather than a fundamental misunderstanding of the question. If you failed to catch an incorrect answer during blind review, you need to make it your priority to fully understand your error, analyze the question, and then revisit the concept that the question covers.
Once your weaknesses are exposed during blind review, you can target those weaknesses by reviewing the conceptual material and then drilling the question/game/passage type. If you do not know what I mean by drilling, I mean that you can create and complete custom problem sets that focus on your weakness until you have addressed the weakness.
Step 4: Profit Now it is time to take your official exam. First, you have to register for the exam and decide on whether you will take it in-person or online. There are benefits and drawbacks to each and you have to decide based on your personal circumstances. For the online format, you are going to need a very quiet room with a strong internet connection. You will need to remove all prohibited material from this room including books, posters, electronics, etc. Additionally, the online proctoring system can be quite a hassle and very finicky. It requires you to download a program prior to test day and then share your screen, video, and audio with a remote proctor. Proctors may interrupt your exam due to compliance issues (e.g., your face is not in full view). Additionally, there is a small but nonzero chance that your exam is placed under review due to suspected noncompliant activity during your exam period and possibly even canceled as a result of said review. However, there are obvious benefits to online testing. You can take the exam in the comfort of your own home if that is an option for you, and you generally have much more control over your environment. You take the exam on a computer of your choice that you are comfortable with. You use your own scrap paper and writing utensils. For the in-person format, there is little to no preparation required beforehand except for scheduling an appointment at a nearby test center and bringing a valid ID. You will be ushered into an office-like room filled with a number of small cubicles. In each cubicle, there will be a desktop with a monitor, mechanical keyboard, and mouse. There will be a pair of noise-canceling headphones, and you will also be given a booklet of scrap paper and writing utensils. A very compelling benefit of the in-person exam is that your exam is much less likely to be placed under review/canceled for suspicious activity. Your test session isn’t recorded and you do not have to connect with a remote proctor. You will not have to worry about the internet connection or whether or not your test-taking equipment is prohibited or not. Basically all you have to do is show up and take the exam. However, there are definitely drawbacks to the in-person exam as well. You will be in a new environment that you are unfamiliar with. There will be the noise of the other test takers in the room with you typing on keyboards, clicking their mouse, coughing, sneezing, leaving/entering the room, etc. There are definitely inconsistencies between the testing centers as well. Some minor, but noticeable issues that I experienced during my in-person exam included audible conversations coming from outside of the room, dark orange scrap paper on which I could barely see pencil marks, dull/broken pencils provided by the testing center, and barely functional noise-canceling headphones. Do not expect the testing centers to be a perfect, controlled environment and anticipate issues/annoyances.
Once you’ve registered and exam day has arrived, it's time to do exactly what you practiced. I would not recommend that you make any last-minute changes to your testing routine/strategies. You have put so much work into perfecting your routine, and it would be a shame to throw that away when it really matters. After about 3 hours, you’ll have officially taken the LSAT. Congratulations! Now, it is a waiting game. Despite the exam taking place on a digital platform and being graded instantly, you will still have to wait about a month to receive your results. It is up to you whether you would like to continue studying during this wait depending on how you felt about your exam performance although I would keep any studying very light. Enjoy your well-deserved break.
Step 5: Score Release You’ve now waited for what feels like forever and you receive the score for your first official exam. If you reached your goal score, congratulations! You have now finished a crucial component of the law school admissions process. You’re not done yet though. It’s time to start thinking about putting together your law school applications (which I may write another guide about soon). If you did not reach your goal score, don’t worry! Appreciate the fact that you are now more familiar with the official exam process and jump right back into studying/practicing again. If you were very close to your goal score, then I would recommend registering for the soonest upcoming exam and focusing on practicing through drills and PTs. If you were quite far away from your goal score, it might be worth evaluating your weakest sections/question types and jumping back into foundational concepts. Whatever you do, DO NOT cancel your first official exam. First, law schools only really care about your highest exam score, so do better on the next one and this one won’t hurt you. Second, you need to have at least one non-canceled score in order to even apply to law school. Let’s say you cancel your first test and then do even worse on your second test, then what? I would only recommend canceling a score if it is not your first exam (and you did not cancel your first exam) and it is lower than one of your other scores (e.g., you scored a 165 on your first exam and then a 162 on your second).
The End! I know that was a lot. I could probably think of more to write, but you are probably already overwhelmed with information so I’ll leave the rest to you. I want to reiterate that these are all tips that I’ve picked up over my studying journey and I cannot guarantee a score increase based solely on these tips. After all, the most important thing is that you put in the work yourself and do your own due diligence to find what works best for you. If you have read everything up until now, you may be certifiably insane (the mark of a great law student) and thank you so much for considering what I have had to say. Remember that this is just a small part of your journey. Your LSAT score is not only just a single part of your law school applications, but it is an even smaller part of your career in the legal profession. I am not diminishing the importance of the exam, but please maintain a sensible perspective when you are feeling stressed and anxious about the LSAT. Make sure that you maintain a healthy work-life balance, keep pursuing hobbies and interests that you enjoy, and give yourself a break every once in a while. Your mindset and mental health is half the battle. See you in law school!

Afterthoughts
Small haul for a small bonus today. I put together that part of the haul last night, and once I saw the $5 / 10 bonus, I completely forgot to check every other app, haha. Technically a slight profit loss meeting my IB bonus today, but that's okay because I'm making progress towards my bigger bonus. If I were to prorate that bonus, that'd be an extra $4.52, so it's definitely worth it.
My Beneful finally stopped resetting, unfortunately. Hopefully the Mac a Roni and butter keep resetting. I was going to get a couple other things too just to work towards my big bonus, but my store was out. I'll be going out of town later this week, so maybe I'll get lucky and find some good deals at stores that aren't around here.
Time Spent
I glanced at IB last night for like 5-10 minutes. I was planning to finish planning the haul today, but I didn't need to find any more deals. I was in the store for 50 minutes today, which included my regular shopping as well as browsing through the plants and clearance aisles.
Food From Deals
Here's an idea: Mix up a white cheddar Mac a Roni, with your choice of ham, sausage, chicken, pork, or one of the vegan meat alternatives. Add a little soy sauce, and some green peas if you wish. You could even add some extra butter and milk (or plant based milk) to make it a bit creamier. Serve with a slice of buttered toast or some Jasmine Rice. Perhaps make a little Banana bread for dessert. (Note: Everything mentioned has Ibotta deals available.)
Here's some things I've made in the past: High Protein Tomato Crackers, Hot Sausage Cups, Peanut Butter Fudge & Chocolate Hazelnut Fudge, Chocolate Cherry Pie
Do you guys want me to continue showing things I've made using ingredients I got from rebate apps on these posts? Let me know in the comments, or you can vote on this poll if you want to remain anonymous.
Mini FAQ
- If you're new or confused - check out the guides near the top of the post. They go into detail about everything.
- I'm from the USA and these posts are tailored as such, but this post of mine does list things from other countries that I know about.
- My posts are tailored to being money makers to suit this subreddit. There are tons of great deals that aren't money makers but can still save you a lot of money.
- A lot of what I get is given away to friends, family or is donated. I do this more as a hobby than anything.
- I generally do not share my spreadsheet since the one shown in this post is not the one I actually use (it's put together with a script from my usual spreadsheet) and there are a ton of little things that will give you wrong values if you don't know about them and even then you have to be careful. It's super easy to make a spreadsheet with Google Sheets though.

2024.05.13 22:10 PilgrimofEternity The White Lotus keep getting dumber with prisons
I'm not going to get into the main focus on their poorly conditioned prisons made for the Red Lotus before season 4, except to point out Desna and Eska were interested in using it for people such as in innocent tailor (and that doesn't seem to bother Tonraq or Zuko) ... yeesh.
Rather the one they put Zaheer in. Here's the ironic fact, not only is he the only guy to notice the whole area is overflowing with spiritual energy and tap into it accordingly, but he's not doing a darn thing to mess it up. Think, he spends all that time in the Spirit World in 2 seasons, but not once does he turn a spirit dark. It makes sense, he likes chaos in a misguided sense of balance, but he never likes the idea of darkness.
However, Dark Spirits as a whole, see this article with references all over Avatar lore
https://avatar.fandom.com/wiki/Dark_spirits#Notable_temporary_or_permanent_dark_spirits are typically formed from negative unbalance, destroying nature, damaged or sacred areas or people themselves reacting negatively, etc.
And if you look a bit deeper ... the prison itself according the show makers ...
https://avatar.fandom.com/wiki/Transcript:Beyond_the_Wilds_(commentary)?so=search?so=search)
is a former temple, which explains the carvings, crystals and settings, one that was long abandoned, possibly during Kuruk or Yangchen's time when such places began to go to ruin.
However, now, that the spirits are back, and the whole area is more alive with energy than ever, and the White Lotus is using such a place as a prison ... sounds like a future disaster of a spiritual crisis in the making.
Zaheer really has a point about the White Lotus not being what they once were, none of them are on Iroh's level, and guarding prisons is not living up to their creed 'The quest for truth above all else.' And he's the only person using that temple for what it was likely meant for. I did some googling, it could be compared to underground Buddhist temples in the mountains in real life, ones used for meditation and prayers with halls and chambers like that one he's in.
But other prisoners like Kuvira (a real no-brainer why she'd be a problem) or even the guards themselves could be the opposite.
And if the temple spirit (there are such spirits in Avatar lore) ever came back, I doubt he'd be happy.

2024.05.13 21:41 MetagameMajor The Connection Between "The One Who Waits" and "Susan Twist"
I only just finished watching S1E2 "The Devil's Chord" mere minutes before posting this, but I think I already have a pretty solid idea regarding the identity of these characters and the role they will play in the overall narrative of the season at large.
For starters, I'd like to bring attention to the extremely unusual (and likely divisive) ending musical sequence that closed out this episode. More specifically, the subject matter of the song and The Doctor's fourth wall breaking behavior in particular are the details that makes this scene so important in understanding who how these characters might be connected and what their purpose may be in the context of the show.
The takeaway message of this scene (and the subject of the musical) that is conveyed to Ruby by The Doctor is that all of their perilous adventures through time and space "always end with a twist." Within the context of the scene itself, this statement and subsequent song it inspired appears at face value to be a simple boast of optimism from The Doctor to comfort Ruby and reassure her that even in their bleakest moments, The Doctor will always find a way to turn their situation around into something good. However, when this sequence is framed within the context of the show itself as a message being conveyed from the show runners to the audience rather than it's characters, it takes on a COMPLETELY different meaning.
If we interpret the meaning of this song literally, then the lyrics tell us plainly that the plot of every Doctor Who episode is written with a twist at the end that changes the outcome of the story. However, if this song is truly directed towards the audience, then there is additional context we can consider that only the audience would know. For example, fans who keep up with news relating to the show know that there is a character named Susan Twist who first appeared in the most recent Doctor Who Holiday Special and was most memorable for breaking the fourth wall during the final scene of the episode. Furthermore, we also know that this character is not only returning, but will be a reoccurring background character thoughout the new season with Russel T Davis hinting in interviews that the secret this character holds and the overall role this character will play in the story of Doctor Who when they are eventually introduced as a primary plot point will be far more impactful than we otherwise might have thought. As such, we know that this character is designed to be more than just a cheeky easter egg and that the mystery behind this character should be taken seriously, meaning the scenes in which she breaks the fourth wall have big implications on what this character is capable of within the upcoming story.
With this context in mind, the song lyrics take on an addictional meaning, implying that if every Doctor Who adventure ends with a twist, then perhaps at the end of the shows current story arc (which seems to be building up to a confrontation with The One Who Waits), the "twist at the end" that will appear may be referring quite literally to Susan Twist making herself known during the climax of the story and turning the tides in The Doctor's favor, standing in opposition to The One Who Waits.
Under the assumption that Susan's fourth wall breaks and reoccurring episode cameos are to be taken seriously within the cannon of the show as a means of legitimizing the intrigue surrounding her mysterious presence and the powers she might possess, then it is not unreasonable to assume that her existence throughout time and reality defying capabilities function similarly if not exactly like the other members of the Toy Maker's Pantheon. Much like Susan's perpetual appearance in the background of each episode of Doctor Who since the Toy Maker's defeat regardless of which time period they are in (with no indication of the passing of time besides changing costumes between each appearance), both The Toy Maker and Maestro similarly demonstrated that their existence and reality warping capabilities were also unaffected by the typical passage of time, which they have demonstrated through the continuous interactions they have with The Doctor (only changing costumes between appearances) as he bounces between the future and the past. Furthermore, we also know that their names are representative to the thesis of their existence in some way or another, with The Toy Maker representing play and Maestro representing music, perhaps "Twist" is representative of story telling. The concept of stories could be argued to be as equally intrinsic to the experience of life in the universe as the concepts of play and music, so it's not an unreasonable assumption.
Finally, the influence of The Toy Maker and Maestro which allowed for the manipulation/subversion over the laws of reality was not exclusively theirs to weild, rather these powers are merely symptomatic of the new laws of reality that are temporarily brought into world with the emergence of each Pantheon member. This is demonstrated by The Doctor with The Toy Maker who is bound to abide by the rules of whatever game he is playing and is not strictly in his favor, as demonstrated by The Doctor's Bi-Generation (a myth made possible via the laws of play) and forcibly exiling The Toy Maker against his wishes since what appears to us to be near-omnipotence in reality is just different rules of existence these beings operate within the confines of. Furthermore, we see that the emergence of these beings leaves a lasting effect on the laws of reality, lingering for a while before it fades completely from existence even after the corresponding Pantheon member is defeated. With The Toy Maker, The Doctor was able to produce a circus hammer and replicate the TARDIS in a way only possible due to the laws of play. Similarly, The Doctor was able to manifest music in a similar fashion to Maestro when challenged to a music battle and demonstrated the lingering effects of the laws of music on reality by bursting into a musical number that defied logic and by playing the crosswalk like a piano on his walk back to the TARDIS after their victory over Maestro.
If we assume that Susan Twist is a Pantheon member (representing stories) like The Toymaker and Maestro, then it re-contextualizes all the fourth wall breaking behavior demonstrated by The Doctor and Maestro in this episode. If the presence of Susan Twist is influencing the laws of reality, then Maestro playing the Doctor Who theme and The Doctor mistaking the approaching music as non-diagetic makes much more sense within the context of the story. Furthermore, The Doctor winking at the camera at the end is just like the scene where Susan Twist winked at the audience at the end of the holiday special. If the show runners are expecting us to take Susan's wink to the audience and knowledge of the TARDIS seriously, then that means we must also take the wink to the camera done by The Doctor equally as seriously! Especially given that it is even presented to the audience in the same way as the Susan Twist reveal. Additionally, if Susan Twist is the embodiment of stories, it could also explain the reoccurring illusion of snowfall that is surrounding Ruby during the first 2 episodes. It provides the mystery and ambiance that will contextualize Ruby's backstory, after all everything in life has a story whether we know it or not. Perhaps Susan Twist is drawn to them due to Ruby's untold story like how Maestro fed on the potential of unplayed songs.
So how does The One Who Waits tie in to any of this? To be honest, I'm not quite sure myself. We know that Maestro used he/him pronouns when referencing The One Who Waits, so we can pretty safely assume that Susan Twist won't be revealed as The One Who Waits as some sort of twist villain, despite there being a "twist at the end" and the name "The One Who Waits" implying that he is perhaps waiting for the end (or beginning) of something to come to pass. Hence why I think Susan Twist will either lead to his defeat in some way or perhaps reveal some sort of twist to The Doctor only after the conflict is over. Either way, the active involvement in story telling as sold me on the role of Susan Twist as a Pantheon member, but there is very little we can draw from that could indicate what kind of properties The One Who Waits could represent, or if he is even a member of the Pantheon at all. Although Maestro seemed to threaten The Doctor by claiming he will come for him, there is no indication that he and Maestro are allies at all, it could very possibly just be a warning of impending doom to instill fear in The Doctor out of pettiness for their banishment. Especially considering that The Toy Maker feared him when his existence was discovered. It is perhaps possible that the Pantheon members did not all know of each other's existences until manifesting in our universe around the same time, but it's also possible that they've known about each other from the start. Regardless, if I were to blindly speculate about what the meaning of his name could relate to, my only guess is that it is in some way representative of the passage of time or perhaps the lack thereof. Waiting only makes sense in reference to time spent, so either he will act as an antithesis to The Doctor, perhaps even threatening the time vortex itself, ushering in the beginning or the end of some new reality, or possibly existing as a representative of eternal stagnation. Honestly, with how little info we have, anything is possible.
(Also random passing thought, is it possible that Susan Twist's name is literal and that the twist of Ruby's story is that she is related in some way to Susan Foreman?)
(Sorry about the long post, I have ADHD and I couldn't stop hyperfixating on writing this down and got a bit carried away lol)
TLDR:
-The song at the end of Devil's Chord is addressed to the audience directly as a hint foreshadowing a future encounter with Susan Twist possibly during the climax when The Doctor must face The One Who Waits.
-The appearance of Susan Twist in the background of each episode throughout time and space and her seemingly timeless nature is seemingly identical to the way members of Pantheon (Toy Maker, Maestro, etc.) also seem to be unaffected by time when interacting with The Doctor.
-Susan Twist has demonstrated that she can break the fourth wall and her influence on reality seems to also be influencing the world around her, allowing The Doctor to break the fourth wall multiple times this episode, much like how he made a second TARDIS after defeating the Toy Maker or like how he played the crosswalk like a piano after defeating Maestro.
-Given the naming scheme of the Pantheon members, and Susan's ability to break the fourth wall and constant cameo appearances, she is probably the Pantheon member representing the god of stories.
-It is possible that the illusions of snow and visions of Ruby's past are a result of Susan Twist, who might seek out untold stories in the same way Maestro sought out unplayed songs. Susan will likely be the one who will reveal the hidden truth behind Ruby's origin story that the show has been building up to.
-Susan Twist, acting as the "Twist at the end" of their story, will likely be what ends up turning the tides of conflict in The Doctor's favor against The One Who Waits.

2024.05.13 21:22 Direct_Basil3455 Recreating moms dress for 2nd look
| My mom wore a short, turquoise, beaded dress to her wedding (I know, she’s the coolest). I am going a bit more traditional and have already found a white dress I’m wearing for the ceremony, but I am interested in recreating her look for a second look. I’m not really sure how to begin this process - if people have recommendations for custom dress makers on Etsy, or diy ideas, or leads on where to search for a similar style dress, would love to hear! submitted by Direct_Basil3455 to weddingplanning [link] [comments] |

Simply looking for that someone. So about me, I'm an Introvert by choice over recent years but I can play extrovert when needed but find it taxing.
I would class myself as being part of the makers community, and I'm always looking to learn new things and skills. I'm a bit of a nerd although my personal appearance doesn't give off that vibe.
I have a wide range of hobby's that keep me busy. I also enjoy a wide range of music and video games.
So what am I looking for ? I'm looking for someone to share interests and hobbies with. An equal to share real conversation about what interests us both, a fellow maker of sort.
What are you currently working on, or learning ? What are you currently listening to or watching ?

2024.05.13 20:47 jtrom1010 Spain & Portugal Itinerary Help
Tl;dr I have 3-4 nights to fill between Valencia and Lisbon, want a unique place with nightlife and food that's a good middle point between those cities. Itinerary looks like this:
- Barcelona - 4 nights
- Madrid - 4 nights
- Valencia - 3 nights
- ? - 3-4 nights
- Lisbon - 3-4 nights
Porto was my original choice but getting there from Valencia isn't great for my dates. Unfortunately, the rest of the itinerary is inflexible (have to fly home from Lisbon, and I need to be in Valencia those days to throw tomatoes).
While Porto is still an option, I've mulled over replacing it with the Balearic Isles, Seville, or Granada. Also considered just making Lisbon a week-long stay, but even with day trips I don't really want that much time there.
I'm big on nightlife, architecture, food, and general "get lostability" with cities, if that helps with recommendations, but I'm aware that most places have a healthy mix of those things. Ideally, any city that's a good in between destination that's a bit different than the rest of my cities would be amazing.
