2024.04.30 18:21 FollowingTop8854 Who went to The Monsters of Rock 1988 concert?

Who went to The Monsters of Rock 1988 concert?
The First Band: Kingdom Come
The show started with an at-that-time real “opening band”, Kingdom Come. If you’re a metalhead and you don’t remember them that well, they were a really new band — just formed the year before — with one album out at the time. They got a lot of radio airplay, and apparently were chosen for the Monsters of Rock tour by Van Halen, as this Chicago Tribune piece from way back then tells us: ‘’It was a matter of who was around and who wanted to do it with us,’’ chips in bassist Anthony. ‘’That’s how Kingdom Come are on the bill. They’d already been offered a lot of tours, but they really wanted to do this, and we thought the only thing missing is a new band, so they were a logical choice.’’ Kingdom Come may be about to go through a baptism by fire, but the rest of the ‘’Monsters’’ line-up consists of other veteran road outfits, each with its own rabid following.
If there’s anything else that might jog your memory about Kingdom Come, it’s likely the fact that they quickly got labeled as a “Led Zepplin clone”. And not just by a few people, but by major rock royalty like Jimmy Page and Gary Moore. Apparently their bandleader and vocalist Lenny Wolf added fuel to the fire by rather implausibly claiming that he’d never heard of, or heard, Led Zeppelin. We didn’t really know about all that controversy as teenagers, but all you had to do is listen to them to know they were either straight-out ripping off Led Zeppelin or were kinda derivative. And they were also a bit on the lite, glam, or pop metal side by comparison to these other bands. At least that’s the way it seemed to us. And maybe it seemed that way to the rest of the crowd there that day. Looking at the setlist from that concert, they played six songs total. I think I maybe knew two of those songs. It didn’t seem like too many member of the audience did either. It was a festive crowd, and it was early in the day, so it didn’t become a restive crowd, but I think most of the people there were eager for Kingdom Come to finish up their set so the other bands could come on.
The Second Band: Metallica
Here was a band that was on the other side of the spectrum from Kingdom Come. Already deservedly recognized as one of the top bands in the thrash movement, they already had what would turn out to be their three most solid and seminal albums behind them. Cliff Burton’s death was a major shock to the whole system, but his replacement, Jason Newstead, was working out. They’d done the cover album Garage Days Re-Revisited together, and they’d finished recording And Justice For All. This was before what to many of us was the first of their missteps, The Black Album. If anything, Metallica was getting heavier and tighter in their sound in this period.
We five guys were all there to hear them, and I wasn’t sure who I was looking forward to the most — Metallica or the Scorpions! I don’t know that some of the other conference-goers were as interested in a thrash band, but the rest of us all made up for it. This is when the real headbanging, air guitar, and thrashing around started in the day. It was a high-energy performance, and for me it was the first time I’d seen them, so it was frankly a pretty amazing set.
Metallica SetList:
a couple from their rawer debut Kill Em All
(“Whiplash,” “Seek and Destroy’) three from Ride the Lightning (“Creeping Death,”
“Fade to Black,” “For Whom The Bell Tolls”)
three more from Master of Puppets (the title track, “Sanitarium,” and “Battery”
two covers, the Misfits’ “Last Caress” and Diamond Head’s “Am I Evil”
The Metallica of that era had just a slew of solid material they could draw upon, but this was a pretty ideal selection.
The Third Band: Dokken
This middle band swung the proverbial pendulum partway back towards the glam side. I always considered Dokken to be a band like Ratt: definitely glammy, but also solid metal. They could construct and rock a power ballad with the best of them. And they contained some great talent at the time — along with serious tensions between vocalist bandleader Don Dokken and lead guitar George Lynch. These would eventually lead to the band breaking up just one year after we saw them, with Lynch and drummer Mick Brown starting the Lynch Mob. Whatever disagreements were festering in the band at the time, they delivered a solid set.
Dokken got the same allotted time as Metallica — an hour — and they blazed through 10 great songs from their three most recent albums. This was fun stuff for me. I wasn’t a major Dokken fan, but I did like some of the stuff they played. I mean who doesn’t rock out to “Into The Fire?” I’ll admit that I liked — and still like today decades later — the power ballad “Alone Again”.
I can’t say I really remember that much more about the Dokken portion of the day, other than it seemed like pretty much everyone was enjoying themselves. I’m glad I got to see them at the top of their game, with their classic lineup.
The Fourth Band: The Scorpions This was the second band I was really looking forward to seeing live. One of my longstanding favorite metal bands, like Dokken and Metallica they had arguably reached a pinnacle of their career. Their catalogue going back into the 70s featured heavily in the harder and heavier local rock stations. In fact, there was even a recurring plug by Klaus Meine for WQFM, telling us in his heavy accent that he wanted to rock Milwaukee like a hurricane! I had all of their albums from Lovedrive to Love At First Sting, and my little sister recently bought Savage Amusement, which had just come out the month before. They were a band in constant rotation in our house.
They played a trio of songs from the new album — definitely doing their part to support it in a setlist of fourteen — “Don’t Stop at the Top,” “Every Minute Every Day,” and “Rhythm of Love”. The rest were a mix of hits from their earlier four albums
their portion began with the title track from Blackout, with “Dynamite,” “Can’t Live Without You,” and the power ballad “No One Like You” peppered through the setlist four songs from Love at First Sting: “Big City Nights,” “Bad Boys Running Wild,” “Rock You Like a Hurricane,” and what is arguably one of the greatest metal power ballads ever, “Still Loving You” just one song off Lovedrive, but what a perfect one for a concert like that: “Coast to Coast” two great tunes from Animal Magnetism, “Make It Real,” and the never to be missed “The Zoo.”
This was a real crowd-pleaser, coming on the heels — well, not directly, since the stage had to be more and more set up the bigger the bands got — of the high-energy Metallica and Dokken. We were in solid scorching metal territory. The Scorpions could easily have been the headliner.
The Final Band: Van Halen
This was just three years after David Lee Roth and the remainder of Van Halen had parted ways. He was replaced by Sammy Hagar, best known for his early years with Montrose and then his solo career. Interestingly, in Van Halen’s early years, some music executives had proposed that very replacement. So we had a band that had moved on from its first lineup, and consolidated around a new singer who also brought another guitar into the mix. Hagar was a decent vocalist and showman, and two new albums in, I think there were a number of fans who were still kind of waiting to see how all this was going to work out.
There was an interesting incident that occurred. I don’t quite remember if it was early during the set or just before it, but at some point people in the crowd started tearing up big pieces of the newly planted sod and tossing them around. There had been a number of beachballs that people had been bouncing all over, making their way through the crowd. I kinda thought that they were doing something similar with the portions of sod. But that is not what Sammy Hagar thought!
He got to the mike, and started telling the audience that tearing up the sod like that wasn’t cool. He pointed out that people could get hit — and hurt — by the admittedly pretty big and heavy chunks of dirt and grass that were getting flung about. He also noted that Alpine Valley had just laid that sod down, at significant expense, and that the fans shouldn’t be destroying property. Now he was starting to lose the crowd, seeming like an older out-of-touch uncle lecturing the kids. They started booing him! And then he told them that if they didn’t knock it off, and settle down — and he spoke for the whole band, he said — Van Halen wasn’t going to play. The concert would be over! They did settle down, but there was a lot of grumbling about old man Hagar, how he’d sold out, how he’d become “the man”, and so on.
As the headliners and the final band, Van Halen got to play a longer playlist. Officially, it was twenty-one songs — so basically both Metallica’s and Dokken’s portions put together — but three of these were solos: guitar, bass, and drums. The actual songs they played were some interesting choices reflecting the band sorting out their legacy, supporting the new albums with Hagar, and even incorporating some of the hits he brought to the band.
they really supported their new album, OU812, with seven songs: “A.F.U. (Naturally Wired),” “Black and Blue,” “Mine All Mine,” “Sucker in a 3 Piece,” “When It’s Love,” “Source of Infection,” “Cabo Wabo” off their earlier album 5150, they did three more songs “Summer Nights,” “Why Can’t This Be Love,” “Best of Both Worlds” from the David Lee Roth era, they played just four songs: “Panama,” “Runnin’ With the Devil,” “You Really Got Me,” and “Ain’t Talkin’ ‘bout Love” they did three Sammy Hagar songs: “Eagles Fly,” “I Can’t Drive 55,” and “There’s Only One Way to Rock” the concert closed with a cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Rock and Roll”
If you were a big fan of the post-Roth Van Halen, there was a lot to love in this setlist. For those of us who loved Van Halen, but were less enthused about Sammy Hagar as a replacement for Roth, it was still a good set, but not quite as enjoyable. It’s understandable that they would want to support the new album, but it was disappointing not to hear more of the classic Van Halen songs from the first six albums.

2024.04.26 23:18 SeeCrew106 Weapons on J6: a round-up of press coverage

Work in progress.
I've recently completed a list of J6 insurrectionists bringing weapons to the Capitol. I expect to be posting more about it, but this time I want to highlight what the press wrote about it.

PolitiFact

The Austin American-Statesman hosted[1] a Politifact article[2] responding to Tucker Carlson's claim at the first House J6 hearing that:
"Just to be clear on terms, an insurrection is when people with guns try to overthrow the government. Not a single person in the crowd on January 6 was found to be carrying a firearm. Not one."
Like I did, they dove into the case files to find, unsurprisingly, that Carlson was lying. Again.
Lonnie Coffman of Alabama was found with multiple weapons in his vehicle and on his person. Coffman’s truck, which he had parked in the vicinity of the Capitol on the morning of Jan. 6, was packed with weaponry, including a handgun, a rifle and a shotgun, each loaded, according to court documents. In addition, the truck held hundreds of rounds of ammunition, several large-capacity ammunition feeding devices, a crossbow with bolts, machetes, camouflage smoke devices, a stun gun and 11 Molotov cocktails. When Coffman was detained, questioned and searched, police found two more handguns on his person. None of the weapons were registered, documents state. Coffman pleaded guilty and was sentenced in April to 46 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release.
But he wasn't the only one. Guy Reffitt of Texas, a member of the Three Percenters militia, was charged with bringing a handgun. Christopher Michael Alberts of Maryland also brought his handgun onto Capitol grounds. An officer saw it, alerted his colleagues and they chased him and detained him. It was loaded.
Mark Ibrahim, a former DEA agent who indicated his intent to resign weeks before J6 was indicted for bringing a gun with him on J6. He lied about it to federal agents.
PolitFact also reject Carlson's definition of an insurrection and note that the definition of "armed" isn't legally limited to guns.

CNN

CNN reviewed[3] J6 court records too, after Republican senator Ron Johnson said the attack wasn't an "armed insurrection" in an interview with a Milwaukee radio station.
Johnson condemned the assault, but then said "edited" videos made the situation look worse than it was and started defending the insurrectionists.
“This didn’t seem like an armed insurrection to me,” Johnson said in an interview with WISN in Milwaukee. “When you hear the word ‘armed,’ don’t you think of firearms? Here’s the questions I would have liked to ask: How many firearms were confiscated? How many shots were fired?”
We've already covered that above. They mention that 25 rounds of ammunition were found on Alberts. And obviously, you don't have to fire the gun for it to be illegal to bring it in the process of violently occupying the Capitol, which is why he's being charged. CNN says the weapons they saw mentioned in the court documents were, among others: a baseball bat, a fire extinguisher, a wooden club, a spear, crutches, a flagpole, bear spray, mace, chemical irritants, stolen police shields, a wooden beam, a hockey stick, a stun gun, and knives.
They add that the fights sent more than a dozen officers to the hospital, some with concussions and bone fractures. According to the former chief of the Capitol Police, the officers fought for an hour before being overpowered.
A second CNN article[4] contains an interesting video which sheds some light on where some extremists on Reddit and Youtube get their talking points. It opens with a quote from officer Michael Fanone: "and I heard people in the crowd yelling get his gun, kill him with his own gun, and words to that effect."
They then discuss several false claims by Republicans, some of them prominent.
  1. Rep. Elise Stefanik (R, New York), House Minority leader Kevin McCarthy (R) and Rep. Steve Scalise (R, Louisiana) blamed Pelosi in one way or another for not calling in the National Guard, when that is the responsibility of the Capitol Police Board. CNN invokes former Capitol Police chief Steven Sund saying Pelosi was not involved in decisions made ahead of J6 regarding the National Guard.
  2. Rep. Jim Banks (R, Indiana) said that no Republican minimized what happened on J6. This is not true: CNN mentions Senator Ron Johnson (R, Wisconsin) who said it was a "peaceful protest" except for a "number of basically agitators" who "breached the capitol". They then show Rep. Andrew Clyde (R, Georgia) saying: "[If] you didn't know the TV footage was a video from January the 6th, you would actually think it was a normal tourist visit".

The Colorado Sun

J6 had after-effects, too. The Colorado Sun writes[5] that Cleveland Grover Meredith Jr. from Colorado brought a small arsenal to his DC hotel room and intended to kill Nancy Pelosi and DC mayor Muriel Bowser. Federal prosecutors called him “a clearly disturbed, deranged and dangerous individual that fantasizes about committing horrific acts of violence and takes countless steps to carry them out.”
When the FBI was tipped off on January 7 about his intentions and then showed up at his hotel room, he told them he had arrived too late for J6. They found a Glock 19, a 9 mm pistol, a Tavor X95 assault-style rifle and “over 2,500 rounds of ammunition” including armor-piercing rounds. They found threats against Pelosi on his phone, as well as warnings not to do it. He assumed he was being surveiled, because in one text, he added: “You get that one Mr. Marxist FBI Agent? Go FK yourself.”
They include a screenshot of a court document showing his weapons cache.[6]

The Washington Post

The Washington Post reports[7] that according to captured police radio traffic, there were armed protesters just outside a secured area. This tracks with other reporting and court documents showing that various insurrectionist groups such as the Oath Keepers and Proud Boys tried to have a "Quick Reaction Force" either closeby or on the perimeter of the city, read to come in and initiate armed conflict.
The recordings aired during the June 28 hearing in which former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson testified that Trump reportedly “was angry that we weren’t letting people through the [metal detectors] with weapons.”
They add that 6 men were arrested for having guns in the vicinity of the Capitol on J6. Some alerts were false alarms, however on January 6th police officers and even insurrectionists reported spotting many firearms. They weren't seized, because law enforcement had their hands full defending the Capitol as it was.
A Washington Post reporter present at 15th Street and Independence Avenue the morning of Jan. 6, 2021 saw a group from Broward County, Florida getting stopped by D.C. police because people in the group were carrying large assault rifles. They claimed the guns were not loaded and merely a "symbol" representing their 2nd Amendment rights. It happened before the protests at the Capitol turned violent.
According to the Washington Post, D.C. law bans open carry, and yet the men weren't arrested. To me, this again demonstrates the extraordinary privileges granted to white, christian conservatives in the United States. Federal authorities had started confiscating weapons since January 5th.
U.S. Capitol Police Officer Eugene Goodman, whose pursuit by a mob inside the Capitol was the subject of a viral video, has said that but for police restraint in the use of force, the riot “could have easily been a bloodbath,” a sentiment echoed by several officers on the witness stand in Jan. 6 criminal trials.
Paraphrasing from the Post: defendents say the same thing. Guy Reffit from Texas, mentioned earlier, said that as he stood close to the front on the West side of the Capitol, he saw 8 firearms carried by 5 people. This included his own .40-caliber pistol, his Texas companion's .45-caliber handgun, five firearms carried by a couple he met at the Capitol and .22-caliber weapon carried by a woman.
The Post continues:
At least three other men from outside the D.C. area also were arrested for carrying unregistered guns in the city on Jan. 6, court records show, but it is unclear whether they attended either the Trump rally or the Capitol riot. All three pleaded guilty in D.C. Superior Court, and their charges were later dismissed.
And, then there is this very interesting paragraph involving one of the leaders of the insurrection, Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes, a good friend of Alex Jones:
“You aren’t going to do anybody any good rotting in jail,” Oath Keepers leader Stewart Rhodes told his followers in a recorded online meeting in November 2020, according to court documents. “Pepper spray is legal. Tasers are legal, and stun guns are legal. And it doesn’t hurt to have a lead pipe.” An armed group would stay in Virginia “awaiting the President’s orders ... then D.C. gun laws won’t matter,” Rhodes said in the meeting, according to court documents. Attorneys for Rhodes, who has pleaded not guilty to seditious conspiracy and other charges, said he and other defendants staged firearms hoping Trump would invoke the Insurrection Act, transforming the Oath Keepers into a kind of militia to keep Trump in office.
They go on to say:
About 825 people have been charged federally in the Jan. 6 riot. Most have been charged with misdemeanor-type trespassing counts. Although only a handful have been charged with firearms violations, at least 121 people have been charged with using or carrying dangerous weapons, and about 20 have been found guilty, a Washington Post database shows.
They then discuss Mazza, Ibrahim and Alberts.
Interestingly, they mention that Lonnie Coffman's unoccupied truck was spotted on First Street SE, the same area where pipe bombs had been found earlier. Regarding his weapons cash, they quote U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kortelly as saying: “I don’t think I’ve seen, in all my years as a judge, quite such a collection of weapons.”

2024.04.25 00:39 SpecialistCrazy7970 Kids power wheels not having enough power initially. 12v upgraded to a Milwaukee 18v

Hey everyone have a kids choice power wheels 12v with a lead acid battery. I have upgraded it to the Milwaukee 18v batteries. It goes from the battery to a buck converter that’s adjustable volts and current (amps). I currently have the voltage adjusted to 14ish, and the current turned all the way up… I think…
The issue I’m running into is it starts slow and then takes off which is fine. But this seems to only happen on a flat surface like a road. The second my other kid jumps in or we try any type of incline the thing dies. The voltage drops way low and doesn’t have enough power to get going. I’m no electrician so I’m not entirely sure what is going on but I am assuming it has to do with the current not supplying enough power. I have adjusted this thing to no end and can’t for the life of me figure it out.
  1. Is it the buck converter? Maybe not enough amps?
2 is it the lithium ion battery and they just don’t have enough low end juice?
3 is there any way to bypass this buck connector? But I don’t want to hook it up straight 18v as it will fry everything eventually.
Here is the buck converter am using for some added info.

2024.03.29 04:39 bomalia [LORE] We Shall Not Be Moved

August 29, 1959
It had been several years since La Follette unilaterally placed his base in Milwaukee. Most forgot, even most workers in Milwaukee who were initially outraged at the decision. But not one single member of the Central Committee of the Wisconsin Progressive Party of Milwaukee County forgot. Yet, there was an existential threat to not merely the socialists' existence if they attempted any sort of strike action protesting the base's presence, but also a real threat not a few dozen miles to their south in Chicago. However, the Nation of Islam now ruled the previously fascist and mobster city of Chicago, and now this claim could no longer be levied against them.
Phil La Follette, needlessly to say, was above all cocky. He had conquered nearly the entire Upper Peninsula in less than two years and then some. Above all, though, he was the liberator of Kenosha: the man who took on the mob without firing a single shot. When conflicts subsided, La Follette refused to even acknowledge his transgression against Milwaukee in placing the base there in the first place. There had also been rumblings about this amongst the Center-Left faction of the party, with one rumor purporting that La Follette's own brother, Bob Jr., got in a somewhat-public shouting match with him over it.
All of this wouldn't be all that bad if La Follette didn't still have the guns of war cocked and at the ready, this time pointing toward some distant enemy, this time apparently Canadian.
Oh, but that's not it. La Follette also ordered every single congressman, even the socialists, to vote against the Civil Rights Act.
That, though. That wouldn't be as intolerable if the WPP-Milwaukee wasn't promised that the reason they were kowtowing to Uncle Sam was to fight fascism.
Yet, the totality of it all was clear to the Milwaukee Socialists: La Follette was out of control. He was a Caesarean opportunist, no longer concerned about the pact which the WPP-Milwaukee viewed as giving the People's Republic birth. Moreover, almost all of the newest volunteers and officers in the People's Army were all ardent anti-fascists in either Milwaukee or Madison. This meant that almost all of the newest and most technologically advanced units were all likely wholly sympathetic
And so, in an event which shocked Wisconsin over, the WPP-Milwaukee voted to declare a general strike and called upon all workers in Wisconsin to stop work until the following demands were met:
  1. A 40 hour workweek (a promise never delivered in Phil's almost 20 total years in office in Wisconsin)
  2. Outlawing child labor (something which the right wing of the party refused
  3. Multi-candidate elections, including for the office of President, and a general declaration renouncing the principle of people's democratic dictatorship
  4. Legalizing labor unions and permit them to own property
  5. Immediate conformance to the 1959 Civil Rights Act
  6. Universal healthcare
There were some proposed demands by the WPP-Milwaukee's far left faction, some of which were only narrowly defeated. The party generally agreed to leave them for later if Phil really messed up:
  1. Immediate appointment of an interim government to be led by Frank Zeidler, composed of the WPP-Milwaukee, Milwaukee labor unions and also certain members of the WPP Center-Left, including Bob La Follette Jr. and other sympathizers to the strike in the rest of Wisconsin
Some were obviously only to derail conversation, or at least plant seeds in the minds of moderates and those tangential to the fringe:
  1. Immediate alignment with Ohio and exploring the possibility of creating a new Worker's Republic of America

2024.02.08 14:44 journalsentinel I’m Milwaukee Journal Sentinel investigative reporter Mary Spicuzza, and I investigated the 1978 car bombing murder of my cousin, largely thought to be ordered by the mob/organized crime/the mob. AMA.

I’m Mary Spicuzza, a reporter at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. After years as a political and investigative reporter, I decided to investigate something I’ve been hearing about since I was a child and try to uncover the true story behind my cousin Augie Palmisano’s 1978 car bombing murder.
Although it was widely thought to have been ordered by Milwaukee mob boss Frank Balistrieri, the murder was never solved. After digging through hundreds of pages of police reports and FBI files, and tracking down people who were linked to the case, including undercover FBI agent “Donnie Brasco,” I recently published my story.
Journal Sentinel multimedia editor Bill Schulz will be joining as well. Bill assisted with reporting, recording, photography and research for the story.
Ask me anything. Join us on Thursday, Feb. 8 at 11 a.m. CT.

A heavily-mutated form of rabies begins spreading itself throughout the world. It has the following characteristics:
So... how much damage does this plague do to humanity? I expect we'll survive in all but the most extreme scenarios, but how bad would it be? Is it possible that Patient Zero would get caught very quickly and disaster would be nipped in the bud? Or would the plague spread in secret until finally erupting, putting entire continents in danger? Or maybe the zombies would just all starve after a few months?

2023.12.15 02:25 Aethyr42 Identifying A Mysterious Name On A Playing Card Linked To Jimmy Hoffa Theory

I find myself in a unusual situation and could use your help solving a mystery within a mystery (one that I feel is never going to be actually solved but.. let's take a look anyway). I'm newly and inconsequentially involved with a team investigating a new theory suggesting Jimmy Hoffa might be buried (or moved after death) under the remains of the old Milwaukee County Baseball Stadium here in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. If the legal hoops required are properly jumped through, I'll be with the dig team. GPR has already been out to the site, as well as a K9 team, both providing positive results on the same location indicating something is there. But that doesn't mean they're hitting on what they think they're hitting on. It's probably a body but... I seriously doubt its Hoffa's. For numerous reasons but I won't go into those longwinded details. Before I look deeper into this whole thing, I need your help in identifying a name on a playing card. A name that seems to be important but is evidently being completely overlooked by everybody else involved. It's not mentioned in the case log at all. But why not? Do they not know who it is either?
Now, to provide some context on the Jimmy Hoffa case: As most of you are probably aware, his disappearance in 1975 remains one of the most enduring mysteries in American history. The recent theory connecting him to the old County Stadium has sparked intrigue, but I maintain a very high level of skepticism. Local media called us (our contact info was given to the tv people by the team) and I spoke to the senior reporter lady and told her what I knew, from a strictly professional level about the dig itself. Now, I'm looking at it with more of a true crime angle and am more than a bit confused by some details. The team behind this investigation have credentials that are extensive and impressive: former FBI agents, cyber crime experts and retired Department of Defense people, retired law enforcement officers, a criminal and fraud investigator with the Air Force, private investigators... they're an intimidating bunch of professionals who know what they're doing. So, when I ask them about this mysterious name and the case in general, I want to come in with as much information as I can. I'll include a link to the pdf they have on their website showing their case file on the investigation here. Your questions/incredulous thoughts about the who/what/where/why are probably covered in those 18 pages. There's pictures and timelines- the whole deal. Which brings us to....
The Card What makes it particularly challenging is that the third name on the card, much like the infamous Joe Aiuppa's (written as Ioppa on the card), appears to be misspelled. Joe ("Joey Doves") Aiuppa, for those unfamiliar, was a Chicago mob boss who played a role in Hoffa's life and the alleged circumstances surrounding his disappearance. According to some, anyway. Given this precedent, it's highly likely that the third name on the card is also spelled incorrectly/written phonetically too. This underscores the need for a keen eye, knowledge of mob associates and/or business activities in Chicago over the years and linguistic expertise to decipher the obscured text.
'Joe Fl.....? Fe....? 'owner of zenith'?
If it's Zenith electronics, they were out of Chicago and is now owned by LG. The former owners names do not seem to be easily accessible. Unless Zenith was a different business? It's not inconceivable that it was some other sort of business that also shared the name. What this even has to do with Hoffa (if anything) is what I'm wondering. Who's name is that? That's something I'd like to know going into this.
My involvement in the investigation is minimal, and I approach this with a healthy dose of skepticism. However, I believe that this community, when we're not looking at weird cell phone videos from arg games, blurry pics taken with a Motorola Razor, reading about cheating teenage boyfriends and possible weird noises, could actually use our skills to decode this crucial name. Before I present my findings to the key individuals in charge of the investigation, I'm reaching out to you guys for assistance.
So... what do you think it says? If you have experience in deciphering misspelled or phonetically written names, possess knowledge related to old mob stories, Hoffa in general, your insights could prove invaluable. I don't think we'll uncover the truth behind the Jimmy Hoffa disappearance, but maybe we can figure out who Joe F (Flogasee? Fleddgasee? Flonase?) was.

Now, there are the disadvantaged, some souls who shortchanged by nature and lacking in intellectual capabilities, scrape by as best they can. Their lives revolve around menial jobs with few opportunities, yet they manage to lead fruitful, productive lives and enjoy the benefits of society, friends, and family.
And then there are losers.
You see them every day, but you do not notice them. For the most part they are intellectual dullards but refuse to accept that simple fact. Their jobs are menial, at best, but they blame their lack of success in any endeavor on outside forces: 'My boss don't like me', 'everybody picks on me', 'That cop didn't have to give me a ticket, I didn't do anything wrong.' In their incessant whining and complaining they put everybody off. Family members, associates at work, anyone who comes in contact with them, turns away. They recognize the have no self-respect but are at a loss to identify the real reason.
They want to fit in somewhere but aren't welcome anywhere --- they cower in their pathetic existence.
So, they seek out like minded failures -- the disaffected and malcontents -- and are soon sucked into the world of fringe groups. They eagerly accept the false camaraderie and empty promises, and because of their desperate hope for acceptance, and because of their inabilities they are easily sold a bill of goods.
'It's not your fault', they're told. It's the Blacks, the Jews, the immigrants, gays, and trans; the liberals, the Democrats, Muslims, Hindus, and Catholics.
'You're better than they are', and for the first time in their lives they revel in a newfound feeling of superiority,
So, they shout the shouts, march in the marches, and pat each other on the back. Yet, even with their total lack of any sense of sophistication they realize that even in this mob they are still alone. Fearful of rejection, and living in terror of being again isolated, they shout all the louder, intimidate where they can, and pray their true nature will never be discovered.

A group of masked neo-Nazis marched through the capital of Wisconsin on Saturday afternoon waving swastikas around, shouting racial slurs at onlookers, and chanting “there will be blood.”
About two dozen men wearing red shirts that identified them as members of Blood Tribe—a white supremacist group that has been trying to make a name for itself since 2021 by targeting Jews, people of color, and the LGBTQ community—took part in the march in Madison, according to local reports.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that they spent about 30 minutes outside the statehouse after marching through state Capitol grounds. The group reportedly also stopped in front of a local synagogue and, among other hateful rhetoric, chanted, “Israel is not our friend.”
Christopher Pohlhaus, a founder of Blood Tribe who famously tried to set up a white supremacist haven in Maine only to sell the property once the public became aware of it and it became “too dangerous,” was also reportedly in attendance at the march.
“Madison does not want or welcome hate groups like the one that invaded our community today. I know how disturbing it was to see nazi symbols openly displayed on our streets,” Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway said in a statement.
Rep. Lisa Subeck, a Democratic state lawmaker who is Jewish, called the demonstration “alarming.”
“Especially right now where we’ve seen a rise in antisemitic activity. I think it’s something that we should all be concerned about,” Subeck was quoted saying by the Journal.
“We’re living in very, very scary times,” Rabbi Bonnie Margulis told the news outlet. “The American Jewish community is very scared right now, as is the Muslim community and the Sikh community. … There's no place that we feel safe.”
