I've been asked a few times why I will archive links to the Guardian. This is the eleventy billionth example of their heavily transphobic bias. Sodha, in particular, is not subtle:
This has been the case for 25 years (previously, there was no law and trans people would still use the facilities of their acquired sex).
I won't carry on, as it's just another vehicle for Sodha's hate. It's sickening that this awful 'newspaper' gets to post this utterly misinforming and transphobic nonsense. I know of no trans people who have managed to get a letter published pushing back against the misinformation (personally I've tried seven times) and the Guardian / Observer will prioritise responses from anti-trans groups over trans groups and women's groups.
The Guardian's transphobia has been a problem for a long time and far longer than the current deranged content from shitrags such as the Telegraph and DM, but because they're considered 'left of centre' they get a pass.
I would ask you to consider, when posting an article from the Guardian, to consider changing the URL from theguardian.com to dumptheguardian.com so that their hideousness is not rewarded.

For a freelancer it could ultimately be catastrophic. She has been agonising about this since and may stop running the retreat.The law is quite clear and, of course, Sodha could have just linked her imaginary friend to the guidance. yes you can exclude us, but weirdly enough, most orgs don't because we're not monsters.

The books i read do not come only from school, but also from the will i have to explore subjects like philosophy, mythology, fictional stories etc..
But my 2 problems in this case are: 1) the method i use to read + my lack of knowledge of the good position for reading; 2) the procrastination i do before starting reading a book.
The second one is classic and based on the problematic of not doing something because of psychological problems, but the first is just as a danger for time management because of my lack of knowledge about how to maximize the speed and ability to read a book, even if a complex one is the subject we're talking about.
Example: yesterday i tried continuing reading the Taetethus by Plato, but before reading i had to position myself and focus and that took 10 minutes, afterwards i could finally read for 40 minutes, and in all that time i ended up reading 25-27 pages if not less. And in the worst cases sometimes i read 20 pages of fantasy/fictional books in 1 hour.
So how can i resolve it? Are there any videos, any material, any advices and suggestions on the kind of method i should be using to read faster and better with also avoiding procrastinating?

For those who, like me, are interested in radio communication, enjoy building things with their own hands, and have long wanted to get acquainted with WSPR technology. What is WSPR? WSPR (Weak Signal Propagation Reporter) is a digital radio communication protocol developed to study the propagation of weak signals over long distances, allowing radio amateurs to observe in real-time how far radio signals from a specific transmitter can travel. Radio exchanges use short messages consisting of encoded:
WSPR messages are transmitted on various frequency bands (the choice of which affects signal propagation distance: some bands have long-range propagation only at certain times of the day, while others work only within line-of-sight) and are automatically decoded by receiving stations located around the world. How did my project start? My interest in WSPR technology began with decoding WSPR messages via a WebSDR receiver, but I had no experience in transmission and wanted to try it. It so happened that I had ready-made SI5351 and NodeMCU modules left over from previous projects. So, I decided to connect them together and see how WSPR message transmission works in reality. A simple WSPR beacon from a ready-made NodeMCU and SI5351 module And how does it work? It works, but poorly! WSPR messages are successfully transmitted and decoded using a locally positioned SDR receiver, but I really dislike breadboard connections when using ready-made modules. As expected, I encountered issues: a poor contact, a slight nudge, and something falls off. Using such a tangle of modules as a finished device is completely impractical. Therefore, I decided to make a printed circuit board and pack it into some kind of case. As a bonus, I added time synchronization for transmission (WSPR messages are transmitted every even minute: 00:00, 00:02, 00:04, ...) and calculation of the QTH locator based on current data from a GPS module. 3D render of the device's PCB I rewrote the code and designed the board. Instead of the EPS8266, I decided to use the Atmega328 (there was another my project with a ready-made PCB design based on Atmega328 + SI5351 on EasyEDA), added a GPS module and a simple amplifier with a single BS170 field-effect transistor. To eliminate the frequency drift effect of the SI5351, I installed a TCXO instead of the quartz resonator used in ready-made modules. Printed circuit board with components soldered After analyzing similar projects, where power is supplied using a MicroUSB connector, which is unstable under mechanical stress, I decided to use USB-B. I added a self-resetting 600 mA fuse to limit current consumption in case of unforeseen situations. And to make it look nice, I adapted the board for installation in a ready-made aluminum case measuring 80x50x20 mm. Finished device To make it easy for any beginner radio enthusiast to assemble a working device, I additionally wrote an assembly and flashing guide and included a list of necessary components for building the device. So if you want to make your own WSPR beacon, you can find all the information in the project's GitHub repository. Future plans? I would like to completely eliminate the manual frequency calibration procedure for the SI5351 and use the 1PPS signal from the GPS module for automatic calibration. The PCB is designed for this, and I just need to write the code. The amplifier with a single transistor, while simple in design, can be difficult for beginner radio enthusiasts to set up, so I plan to make another version of the PCB with a buffer amplifier that requires absolutely no tuning. Why limit to WSPR if you can add other modes of operation? I plan to add firmware to allow the device to operate in CW and FT8 modes. My bf (21M) and i (23F) have been dating over 2 years and we are in a very serious relationship, we come from conservative religious families , our families are involved and we are planning on getting engaged soon, we are very happy in our relationship but the only problem which causes arguments between us is his need of seeking validation from people even if it is girls, there were cases when girls were clearly flirting with him and he has carried on to get attention from them rather than moving away from the situation, i have made my stand clear on how it makes me uncomfortable and he has been understanding and has reduced these actions by a good margin but he has done it so many times that i don’t feel secure now , i constantly feel restless. and these things mostly happen when we are long distance and feels the need for attention from outside

- recently he was secretly building friendship with female colleague who is apparently the centre of attention in their office and she even sat in the front seat of our car with him and they had gone to starbucks with 2 other colleagues( i know this might not be a big deal for other people but in our relationship dynamic these all rules apply to me and i expect the same from him)

So, I am a 16 Year Old, who was introduced to ""feminism"" somewhere in 2022 (I think), thanks to a friend of mine. It turns out, this was actually Mysandry, in the sense that he shared how some of these "feminists" were trying to get rid of men in reproduction, one example being the "fact" that their vaginas will evolve into penises and clone themselves, except that would probably make them hermaphrodites and should happen with men too...
Nonetheless, I was "invested", since this gave me an idea about the two sexes (which would be used for a fictional piece in the end, just with a bit of spiece from our Universe, lol), since I am quite the brain stormer, not bragging or narcissism, I just come up with a lot ideas in general. But as time went on, I started to suffer from overthoughts and the amount of information I've found, including myths like "We were all Female", "Females came before Males", "Women have stronger legs", "You're Genetically Superior and Flawless due to XX", "Men are the weaker sex", "You were inside your Mother who was inside your Grandmother", "Inteligence is Mother Only", among other things, although that last one wasn't as common though). There are still fools, especially on Quora, who believe that all embryos start out as females, and just look at some individuals on that site like Anonymous04, horrors! I also tried to ask ChatGPT, but it's pretty much declining and INFURIATING! SO MANY WRONG ANSWERS! SOMETIMES IT'S OUTRIGHT LAZY!
These moments got soooo BAD, that I: -concerned my parents -made my dad think I was... drugged (since I acted blank when I was working with him once) -wasted my school-off week by overthinking -replied to many answers that ANNOYED me (arguably still do, and embarrassed myself, perhaps) -kept talking to my online friends-couldn't change the topic and basically made it my entire personality or routine for like the past few weeks (maybe even months!) -had an existencial crisis, outbursts, screaming, $u!c!d@l thoughts, etc. -and evenbecame skeptical and "mad" at God (yes, and screw off with the atheism)
Needless to say... It's quite complicated with me and I could go in-depth a lot more, but I managed to recover from most issues. However, before I settle things up, I need to settle one more thing, and that is reproduction. As far as we know, both Males & Females exist to reproduce genetically diverse offsprings, the only difference is their investments, Females for Offspring Support & Males for Competition or Attraction.
While I've noted and saved many things to read later on (like Seminal Fluids doing much more than just transfering Sperm Cells), I am still a bit concerned, stressed and annoyed, cause it just feels like females are the more favored sex in like existence (oversimplication to say it like that, really), and so, I'd like to ask some few things... Although I am definitely gonna give a lot due to overthinking and concerns:
1.Nucleous: So, as far as we know, both Ovum & Sperm Nuclei fuse to form a Zygote, a new life. So is the Germinal Spot the actual Nucleus, and the "Germinal Vesicle" is just one of the ""expensive ingredients"" of the Ovum? Sperm Cells apperantly have Nuclear Vascoles, are those influencal?
2.Cytoplasm: Upon researching more and talking to some Chat Bots (for thes sake of sanity... or INsanity), does the Cytoplasm actually create and give rise to our cells and tissues or is that an outdaded misunderstanding, and it's main & actual function is to SUPPORT the development of the cells created by both parents? ChatGPT has also said that it also gives Building Blocks, Energy, Cell Growth & Differentiation or some confusing crap, but are those words actually referring to the processes of the Zygote's more stable and rapid growth? Is it true that this Cytoplasm is the Cytoplasm in our cells, or since it decreases, is it easily replaced by the production of our cells (combination of mom and dad, as we know)?
3.Organelles: Cytoplasmic components that are apart of the Cytoplasm' support, but again, are those organelles still the same as those in our cells? Shouldn't they decrease like the Cytoplasm and be created by our cells again since (and I am using Google Searches, cuz yes): ---Ribosomes apperantly originate from our Nucleo-lus? ---Lysosomes are formed by the fusion of transport vesciles budded from the trans Golgi network with endosomes ---Endosomes form by the inagination of the plasma membrance and are trigger by the activation of cell surface receptors ---Golgi Bodies originate from the endoplasmic reticulum ---The endoplasmic reticulum originates from the outer membrance of the nuclear envelop during cell division and among other things, but is Mitochondria the only organelle that manages to stay in by it's high number and self reproduction? Is Mitochondria like 90% of the Ovum's organelles hopefully thinking and the other organelles are a small amount compared to the Mitochondria?
4.Cytoskeleton: Apperantly, that is also a thing and it's not an organelle, but apperantly it also has evolved from prokaryotic cytomotive filaments. Even then, Sperm Cells apperantly have a highly specialized cytoskeletal organization or cytoskeletal proteins (like actin, tubulin and spectrin), so?...
5.RNA: Do we inherit more RNA from mom due to the freaking egg, or is it irrelevant because it is transient as the embryo starts to produce it's own RNA and proteins? But ChatGPT has also said this crap: "This maternal RNA helps to jump-start the developmental processes until the Zygote's own genome can take over". It has been said that Sperm has "vanishingly small" amount of RNA compared to the Ovum, but then there have been studies that Non-Coding RNA or so can influence Embryo Development or that Sperm delivers a complex population of RNAs to the Oocyte. Based on a Google Research, I've found this: "6871 proteins have been identified and reported in Sperm, 1376 in the Oocyte and 1300 in the Blastocyst. With a deeper analysis of the sperm proteome, 103 proteins with known roles in the processes of fertilization and 93 with roles in early embryo development have been identified." Can the RNA in seminal fluids/plasma be influential or inherited too? Isn't RNA small?
9.Paternal Contributions: It has been depicted and said that only the head of the Sperm gets delivered, but apperantly there are articles that say that this is also a misconception that the entire sperm enters the egg, with the assumptions being that the Paternal MtDNA not being transmitted, but apperantly, the Sperm Mitochondria actually enters the egg but needs to be destroyed to prevent issues like the Mitochondrial diseases. With this in mind though, what else does the Sperm contribute to the embryo? Centrioles, Centrosomes & the Microtubule System & Microspindle-... Apperatus needed for mitosis? are done by the Sperm too, and it also brings the Chemical Signal for the Egg to activate it's metabolism and complete meiosis? Does this chemical also do anything like give calcuim to the Egg or anything else too? If the entire sperm enters the egg, what else could it bring to the embryonic development? Can there be any paternal contributions to milk like the Y chromosome presence in women bodyparts due to boy pregnancy and the high estrogen, prolactin & a bit of progestertone in seminal fluids? Are there more Sperm components and organelles that we can't easily observe? Is it possible that the absorbtion of all Sperm Cells can benefit the cells of females if the tail has more than 1000 proteins? Does the Journey, Agility, Adapatations, Variability, Motility & Penentration of the Sperm influence the Nucleus (therefore Embryo) in any way? What about the penentrations of multiple sperms (even if they won't enter or mege with the egg)? Or am I just fantasing, and reality is cruel? What about the chromatin condensation sperm? Are sperm cells, and therefore males, just doomed to be not helpful and more limted?...
10.Male Investment: We know that Males invest time into various behaviors, but how exactly does this help the species? Do they optimize & improve their genes? Do they evolve new traits? Do they mutate more? Are males a great investment for evolution or adaptability? Anything else unique? If more females than males have reproduced, does that mean that males are inferior or not helpful and that nature prefers females more? If males and sperm cells are simpler, does that mean they are inferior, disadvantaged or not special? Do non-reproducing males still help with something (assuming they haven't died)? Do you need to almost always (excluding species like Orange Cats and Calico Cats) have a 50/50 amount of both sexes so you don't cause genetic problems even if fewer males will pass on their genes?
That's all I really have to say, I probably sound like I am being dramatic, impulsive and immature, but I really have been overthinking and so, I'd like if some help could be given. This sure was long, but I think I might have given something interesting and such. I thought this could be used as a last resort to settle this before I grow up more. Help anyone,first i was doing so well in 2023 in this government school,the only mistakes i made were venting to my parents and sometimes talking back(what teenagers do innit)i vent to my parents because i dont have anyone else to talk to about school problems and etc(BIG MISTAKE). AS usual my parents took the vents wrongly and thought I would do better at boarding school since I'm "undisciplined" and "lazy".They shifted my school from this government school thats really good and i know alot of people and have alot of friends in to a private boarding international school in another STATE .After 3 months i convinced them to change my school and they did.I was so focused on getting out of the school that i didnt really focus on choosing the school that I was going to go to(BIG MISTAKE).Now in that school as soon as I got in and sat in the hall a random guy came up and slapped the back of my head (not too hard) and said im sorry sarcastically and laughed with his freinds after.I dont feel like I belong in the school and I talked to my parents about it.I just cant cope in other schools that i dont have freinds in now. - "Sleep doctors" primarily know sleep apnea, little else. After ruling out testable diseases and apnea, they offer various drug treatments based on the standard IH treatment flowchart.
- Sleep doctors have limited knowledge about IH medications. Beyond apnea/cpaps, they try different options within safe boundaries to see what works, but lack insight into why some treatments are effective, why tolerance develops, or how to address it. Patients should keep their own logs to identify helpful treatments, doses, and combinations. In short, at this stage, you're on your own. Unless you're being treated by the world's leading expert on IH drug treatments, asking for further advice is a waste of time.
- Doctors do not have enough information about you. "IH" is the default diagnosis.

- Their objective tests are limited: They test blood for known issues (thyroid, some cancers, vitamins, etc.). They test sleep: One isolated night/day sleep test in a strange lab with too many short wires pasted on mostly to rule out apnea but maybe to detect narcolepsy symptoms.
- Doctors do not objectively test for "common sense" lifestyle causes of sleepiness/fatigue, such as late eating/drinking, aging, weight gain, poor diet, lack of exercise, migraines, depression, or other fuzzy psychological issues like ADHD or anxiety. While they may inquire about these factors, patients often underreport their impact, and doctors lack objective tests unless such problems are obvious. They don't follow you around observing your lifestyle, vitals, EKG, and instead rely on the story you tell/remember in the < 15 minutes allotted to the appointment.

Nowadays, many practitioners of Zen do not understand the significance, so they simply refer to the mind as Zen. Likewise, many speakers do not understand the dharma, so they only talk about the significance according to the name. This approach leads to difficulty in understanding. Some may consider shallow understanding as profound, or they may reverse the dharma and the significance, considering the mind as the dharma and the nature of the mind as the significance. Therefore, it is necessary to compare the doctrines of the three schools with the scriptures and treatises to clarify the significance. Once this is done, returning to the one mind naturally resolves all disputes.We won't explore the three schools with the scriptures and treatises, but we see here that once this exploration and understanding is obtained, we can naturally resolve disputes and come into understanding of the One Mind. Zongmi continues:
The Eight Consciousnesses, which are common in nature but distinct in significance, are named similarly but differ in meaning. Some scriptures condemn the mind as a thief, ordering its eradication, while others praise the mind as Buddha, urging its cultivation. Some describe the mind as good, evil, pure, impure, greedy, hateful, compassionate, and merciful. Some say the mind arises with conditions, while others say conditions arise from the mind. Some say the extinction of thoughts is the mind, while others say contemplating conditions is the mind. There are various contradictory descriptions. Without comparing them with the doctrines of the various schools, how can one discern them when reading the scriptures? Are there many types of minds, or is there only one universal mind?To understand the Zen "Mind", we have to understand the Eight Consciousness model, as this is how they approached and discussed mind. This is how we'd be able to parse sayings from Joshu for example, where he has dialogues like this: Someone asked, "What is the essence of all essences?" Joshu said, "This 'essence of essences' thing - you don't need it. It is the seven of seven, the eight of eight."

At that time there was a poor girl who took a gold bead to the goldsmith and asked him to decorate the Buddha's face. Mahakasyapa then gets a golden body, and in other stories he has a golden coffin.
First is "klistamanas," which means the fleshly mind, representing the five consciousnesses within the body (as explained in the Five Skandhas Discourse of the Huángtíng Sutra).
Second is "manas," which means the discriminating mind, representing the Eight Consciousnesses, each capable of discrimination due to its own respective object (the visible object is the object of the eye consciousness, and so on, up to the sense organs, the sense faculties, and the external world, all being the objects of the Ālāyavijñāna). Each of these eight has its own good and evil. In various scriptures, all these minds are collectively referred to as the mind, including both good and evil minds.
Third is "cittamatra," which means the accumulating mind, referring only to the Eighth Consciousness. It accumulates seeds and gives rise to manifest actions (as stated in the Five Skandhas Discourse of the Huángtíng Sutra). In the West, external paths consider it as the ego (self), but it is actually this consciousness.
Fourth is "amalavijñāna," which means the steadfast mind, also known as the pure mind. This represents the true mind. However, the Eighth Consciousness does not have a separate entity; it is simply the true mind that remains unaware. It has the significance of harmony or disharmony with various delusions. Harmony implies the ability to contain both defilement and purity, known as the storing consciousness. Disharmony implies the constant and unchanging nature, known as the Tathāgata-garbha. Both are aspects of the Tathāgata-garbha. Therefore, the Laṅkāvatāra Sūtra says, "The cessation of defilements is called the one mind, which is the Tathāgata-garbha. The Tathāgata-garbha also resides in the realm of dependent origination."
As stated in the Śrīmālādevī Siṃhanāda Sūtra, "Thus, know that the four kinds of minds are fundamentally the same entity." Therefore, the Mahāyāna-śraddhotpāda-śāstra says, "The Buddha speaks of the Tathāgata-garbha (the dharma-body within the realm of dependent origination) as the ālayavijñāna (the storing consciousness). Ignorant wisdom cannot understand that the ālaya is the Tathāgata-garbha. Those who perceive a distinction between the true nature and the ālaya are of ignorant wisdom. The Tathāgata's pure, unblemished repository is the worldly ālayavijñāna. It is like gold and the ornaments made from it, indistinguishable in essence."

So this is my first ever script and is sort of based on some fantasy scenarios that I have been using to help myself sleep since going on HRT last year (Wooo!) A lot of Trans stories I see in the ASMR community are about those who are just coming out or are dysphoria comfort etc.
And since its Pride month I thought I may as well share one of my own comfort scenarios in case anyone else may also find it so
Since, for my own personal journey, I just wish that someone could have seen the me that I hid behind the shell and veneer I showed to the world for 16 years after coming to terms with being Trans back in High School in like 07-ish. And hence why this is written this way. Anyone enough about me
To be clear, the listener does indeed know they are Trans feminine/Non-binary. I have tried to leave that a bit ambiguous, using only they/them/their pronouns from the speaker in regards to the listener. I am also fine with ANYONE voicing this regardless of gender identity and changing the speaker to fit such (Eg; Prince instead of Princess) and with this being explicitly labelled for TF or NB etc. Just please give me credit for the script if used

P: Ah finally! You are the last one you know? Of course you do. I’m sure the disappointment of not being selected to be my personal guard has been spreading through all the other nominees as they returned to the barracks rejected, yes?
“K: It has your highness.”
P: (stifled chuckle) …Well then, take a seat on my couch, opposite me please. (give a few second pause for them to reach the couch and sit) As you may have guessed then, as the last potential candidate, you have been selected though to be honest it was always a bit, uh, rigged from the start?
“K: Rigged?”
P: Yes, you see, well, as I’m sure you are aware, all of us in the Royal Family already have our own specially trained Shadow. A personal right-hand to be our guard, our confidant…our friend. [Mira] over there on the recliner is mine…as again I am sure you are well aware. Apologies I am a bit more flustered than I thought I had prepared myself to be.
(Take a deep Breath)
P: You see these tests and checks we’ve been doing for the past month are … not really for choosing my additional guard for my time in the [Magic University] after all it is a very secure facility, and [Mira] would be able to accompany me to all classes and locations there anyway. Rather these were all tests to confirm whether my suspicions regarding you were true.
“K: What suspicions?”
[Mira]: Suspicions was probably the wrong word [Lee].
P: Oh no! I do not mean to accuse you of being a spy or anything of that sort! I trust with my entire being that you are more than loyal to this kingdoms’ people and my family. Rather I was referring to a … secret I believed you were withholding or, at least, one that you were not actively voicing or embracing of a more … personal nature to you. And if I am right, which I believe I am, then I fully understand. But before I say any more please know, whether I am right or wrong, this conversation will not leave this room. You are safe here either way. You have my WORD on that.
[M]: Both of our words.
P: You see, yes these tests have all been of a social engagement variety not only due to the environment at the [Magic University] not only to see how you would all behave as guards during such settings, but also as guests. After-all it is a primarily social form Academy, with the majority of students and teachers being women, and noble born ones at that. And as such rather than war rooms or sparring sessions, as you and the other knights would be used to, tea parties and balls are more of what would occur over the 3 years there.
[M]: You should probably elaborate more on the why not the school Lee.
P: Yes, you see this common knowledge was a helpful subterfuge for our actual tests. To see how well you could and would perform as the “guests” for the guards. And I do mean YOU specifically. Whilst we did pay attention to your fellow knights, it was mainly you we were paying attention to. How at the tea parties you sat so demurely and smiled, paying so much attention to the stories. Sitting with proper etiquette. How at the ball you hung back clearly uncomfortable in your suit … and your skin. Then when the dances came up, and we were partners… You let me lead.
[M]: Don’t worry, no one really noticed. Except for us, and even then, it is only because we were looking.
P: Your face during it. Your expression. You were so at peace. At all of these when you could fade into the background and enjoy yourself. Your face was always so … Happy. Whenever you didn’t have to play the knight. Having to be strong in front of everyone. Winning duels so that you can keep your hair as long as you like. Refusing promotions and the like so that you could stay safe and hidden. Turning down dates because they could only see the Strong Sir Knight resplendent in their masculinity…. But that’s not you is it? Not really.
[M]: Maybe you should start from the beginning Lee?
P: I began looking into year about 6 moths ago, when you turned down the promoting to lead your own platoon. I found it odd at first given that it would be quite an accomplishment for a knight as fresh as you into adulthood. But thought you were just holding out for something more or trying to just not be separated from your current squad yet. Being so involved in my own studies I didn’t think much more. UNTIL I was on a stroll through the gardens with [Mira] one afternoon as a break. When we came across you. Napping with your hair down in a very secluded spot. (warm giggle) with a cute flower crown and matching bracelet on.
[M]: No sword in view anywhere. Not often even a baby knight doesn’t trigger my alert or even “careful” radar. And ESPECIALLY one who has won even duels to keep their hair that long. Wouldn’t have seen you if we hadn’t decided to meander through the flower field
P: At first, we didn’t recognise you. You looked so different. So … androgynous and cute…. So feminine. So vastly different in comparison to how you hold and present yourself with the other knights. You were at so much peace then too. Not like the quiet conflict I realised you were showing all other times. In the following weeks we looked more into you as the sight became so burned into my memory.
[M]: Nothing too invasive. Well except….
P: [Mira] investigated your room in the barracks. Just a spot check. Comparing to the other knights. She didn’t go through your draws or anything. It was bare. No Decorations. No displayed gits or ornaments. Just some books, haircare products and a chess set. So barren and empty, in stark contrast to your fellow knights. No mirror either. Your Commander said you had it removed as it reflected the lights poorly and hindered your sleep.
[M/P]: But that’s not true, is it?
P: In truth, you find looking in the mirror to be stressful and/or weird. Like something doesn’t fit right. And it’s your reflection, isn’t it? It’s not what you see you as in your own head is it? It began to click for me at that time. Then we found out the knights had taken you in as one of their recruited volunteers from the Orphanage to help make space there for younger children. They took you in and raised you. Trained you to be the knight sitting before me. A path you would not have chosen otherwise, I’m sure.
[M/P]: Stuck in a role you do not want. With nowhere to return to. No other skills to utilise or survive on. Trapped.
P: But here is where I can offer you an escape. Another chance. Another way. First, I will let you know that no matter what, [Mira] and I will not be returning to the castle again. My Elder siblings can all fight for the throne, they are well aware that I will not come for it unless they hurt or threaten the people of our kingdom with malice. So this deal is a one time thing AND you must decide pretty much now. As such…

2024.06.09 15:36 Ryvertz The RNG and progression systems they showed for T4 are much better than what we currently have and people don't give them enough credit
I've seen a big sentiment of people going "lmao they just added more rng and gold sinks...this is trash and doesn't fix anything...T4 is a mistake!" and to me it seems like these people don't realize that not all RNG and progression is created equal and there are good ways and bad ways to implement RNG and progression and what they showed with T4 so far looks very promising and does indeed fix a lot of things. I am not saying the new systems are perfect and they completely fixed Lost Ark...there are still some big L's in the new system which I will get to aswell but I wanna try and make a somewhat unbiased showcase of what changes these new systems will actually bring and why it is better than what we currently have.
Honing:
Let's start with one of the big L's that they didn't really fix. Honing has always been an annoying system where the gap of progression between lucky and unlucky people was too big and considering it is mandatory to do to access new content it felt like the most painful system since it is always the number 1 thing you are forced to focus on in terms of progression whereas the power increase for all the investement is very little.
They now introduced an improved honing system with Echidna that is far better and had the chance for T4 to make it the standard system and instead it seems like both systems will exist in parallel which is definitely sad.
If you wanna hear my cope take for honing: The big problem for the old honing usually only starts at the higher levels where honing chances go down to 5% and below. Beforehand honing usually goes relatively fast and the gap between lucky and unlucky isn't that bad yet. If they increase the amount of ilvl that is available through Echidna honing in T4 there is potential that you only need to go up to +16 to +18 with old honing and can then solely engage with Echidna honing for ilvl progression and accessing new content and the remaining 20-30 ilvl from old honing system is just there for whales that wanna flex and don't have to be used by normal players.
Books:
Lets go from the biggest L to the biggest W when it comes to progression systems. Atm books are a mandatory system for engravings that are completely useless until you reach 20/20 legendary books creating a massive paywall especially for new players but also alt enjoyers. You can also only use books for 2 out of 5 engravings and the other 3 have to be bought again for each new character through stones and accessory.
With the new system you now get a massive free baseline (I use Grudge as example since we have pictures of that) of 15% from blue and purple books (since you get tons of those from events etc. and they will always be cheap on the AH). And then you get slow 0.75% increments of power for each 5 extra legendary and relic books you buy. This means new players will instantly have access to a decent amount of the power and then have a slow and steady progression instead of having to face a giant paywall for all 20 books at once.
The books now also apply to ALL 5 engravings meaning they turned engravings as a whole into a ROSTERWIDE RNG FREE SYSTEM where the investement on your main also benefits all your alts making alts much cheaper aswell as balance updates hurting way less if your class suddenly gets a new build.
Obviously in the short term it is a new gold sink with relic books and lego books you dont have yet but the gold you spent into this system has 0 RNG involved and it will benefit every single character you will ever create which to me makes it probably the best progression system they have in the game.
Stones:
Atm stones are a mandatory system for your engravings that can be a massive gold and pheon sink depending on RNG since you are forced to get a 7/7 and anything below is useless on each new char which sucks for new and old players.
With the new system suddenly a 7/0 stones is also totally usable for new players and alts since the difference between 7/7 and 7/0 is only 3% dmg which nobody will ever gatekeep you for.
Yes obviously once you start maximizing your chars you wanna go for 7/7 stones again and the RNG of the whole system is the same as before but the big difference is that you aren't forced into doing it anymore to just make your char playable with engravings. It is now a minor dmg increase that you can come back to at any time once you have the ressources for it.
Accessories:
Everyone seems to be worried that you now have 5 new bracelets to roll and everything got worse than before but if you think about it current accessories are much worse RNG. You have base stats, quality and engravings on them and only a single shot per accessory to get a useful roll and it is again very binary where it is either completely useless or extremely good. With the new system you have multiple chances and the progression is much more linear where you can go for small dmg increases first and only once you maxed out other systems come back to improve your dmg with them.
Also the biggest change in this system compared to bracelets is that you can roll and then still sell AFTER the rolls. This means if you don't like the RNG part of this new system you can completely ignore it and buy finished accessories on the market for fixed prices.
This makes the system identical to its current form of just buying the right ones for you on the market with the difference that you now have options and can choose how much you wanna invest depending on how much power you want/how much gold you have to spare. It's again an amazing system for alts and new players who will be MUCH cheaper than before and even for your main it is a nice RNG free (unless you choose otherwise) gold sink system with more freedom compared to before.
And for anyone arguing "you are actually forced into upgrading all these systems instantly cuz of gatekeep"...no you won't. I feel like people overestimate the amount of effort people go into when it comes to gatekeeping. The order of operations for most people when it comes to gatekeeping goes: Roster Level -> Title(if asked for) -> Class(depends on the person of course) -> Ilvl -> Transendence+Elixir -> Engravings -> Gems And if there are no red flags along this path they will most likely accept. Nobody checks stuff like quality, bracelets etc. and people won't start with it here by going over every single accessory or whether someones Grudge deals 1.5% more dmg etc. And the few people that are cringe enough to go to these lengths in gatekeeping you don't wanna be in the party anyways.
Now overall all these changes give two big things: Flexibility and very cheap baseline power levels. The cheap baseline is absolutely amazing for new players who can instantly get their main and alts going without having to spend hundreds of thousands of gold on these system just to get a playable char in terms of engravings. It is also amazing for vets when it comes to trying out new alts because you don't have to wait and commit to a class with each new Express pass and instead can create a functional good alt for almost no gold and try them out in T3 raids before deciding whether or not you wanna commit to them. Your build is now much more flexible than before since you can easily swap out engravings for others and at worst loose 3-6% dmg and in most cases since books are rosterwide you loose no dmg at all. This can allow you to experiment with new builds, adjust to balance patches more easily, have PvP builds, swap between both Class engravings of your class without any extra cost and so on.
Now one limiting factor of this flexibility that I haven't adressed yet and is my 2nd L of these new systems is gems.
Gems:
When you change around engravings you often also change around abilites which means you also have to change Gems in a lot of cases but it is not realistic to just have spare high lvl gems laying around for each ability but you also can't reroll with silver everytime you change around your build. I think one change they should have introduced here is that instead of getting gems like in T3 currently you unlock a gem slot of the respective level and can then apply this gem slot to any skill and change the skill around whenever you want. If you wanna be extra nice make the gem slots rosterwide progression but that would probably be too much hopium to ever happen. But in general if they somehow make gems changeable in an easy way so you can easily switch builds it would just really compliment all the other changes they seemingly made with the goal for more flexibility.
Now the whole Lvl 10 -> Lvl 8 gems for T4 I don't think is that problematic. Gems have always been an extremely solid RNG free progression system (if we exclude the Lvl 10 dmg vs CDR roll) that people don't mind investing gold into and since in Korea the system is just maxed out for a lot of players raising the ceiling is just a nice way to give these players a way to invest into this system again. For an average player in the west not much changed by them raising the ceiling of gems...you won't suddenly get gatekept because your gems are Lvl 6-8 again because guess what...everyone around you also only has Lvl 6-8 gems and very few people will instantly go back to 10 again. The same way how a year ago nobody expected you to have Lvl 10 gems in the West nobody will expect gems above Lvl 6-8 in T4 for a long time.
Transendence/Elixirs:
Those 2 systems are obviously not ideal considering how massive the power increase is for them which forces players to engage and finish them asap if they dont wanna get gatekept. I don't think just removing them in T4 would solve the problem since it would first of all just create massive short term problems of these systems being obsolete very soon while being massive powerspikes right now and since so much power is tied to them you would have to just introduce a new system that compensates for the power loss in T4 so your char isn't suddenly weaker than before so instead of hating the current Transendence/Elixir system people would hate on the new system in T4 instead.
Still the good part about these systems is that they have a clear finish point at which you are done with them and don't have to engage in them anymore and by reducing the cost and time to get there by 50% they still did quite a big improvement on those 2 systems.
Quality taps:
Only got a small change by introducing a pity system to it which is obviously a great addition to make it so even unsuccessful taps give you some form of progress in the form of pity meter. I don't think this is a problematic RNG system because getting to a solid 70-80 quality baseline is very easy and nobody will ever gatekeep you for lack of quality on your pieces so tapping above 80 is mostly something you do at your own pace whenever you got some spare gold and not something you are forced to do.
Bracelets:
Probably the worst RNG system in the game but the good thing is that you don't really have to engage with it all the much if you dont want to. Its fairly easy to get a 6-7% dmg bracelet and nobody will ever gatekeep you for not having a 10+% bracelet. The reason why people invest so much into bracelets is mostly personal pride of wanting to have a god bracelet on your main but realistically if you dislike this system you loose at best 3-4% dmg from not going all out on it.
It's hard to say how big the changes are for the T4 bracelets...perhaps with the new options it's much easier to get good bracelets compared to before and the preview of being able to choose if you want the old or new values will definitely help too. But this system probably is still not gonna be that great but it's arguably an improvement to the current version.
So as a summary when it comes to the changes of RNG and gold sinks for T4 here nothing got worse compared to before and a lot of things just got a lot better by making the RNG cheaper or less mandatory in a lot of places while making the progression of systems much more linear compared to being a binary perfect/useless that it is right now while also giving new players and alts very cheap baseline powers in a lot of these systems.

Honing:
Let's start with one of the big L's that they didn't really fix. Honing has always been an annoying system where the gap of progression between lucky and unlucky people was too big and considering it is mandatory to do to access new content it felt like the most painful system since it is always the number 1 thing you are forced to focus on in terms of progression whereas the power increase for all the investement is very little.
They now introduced an improved honing system with Echidna that is far better and had the chance for T4 to make it the standard system and instead it seems like both systems will exist in parallel which is definitely sad.
If you wanna hear my cope take for honing: The big problem for the old honing usually only starts at the higher levels where honing chances go down to 5% and below. Beforehand honing usually goes relatively fast and the gap between lucky and unlucky isn't that bad yet. If they increase the amount of ilvl that is available through Echidna honing in T4 there is potential that you only need to go up to +16 to +18 with old honing and can then solely engage with Echidna honing for ilvl progression and accessing new content and the remaining 20-30 ilvl from old honing system is just there for whales that wanna flex and don't have to be used by normal players.
Books:
Lets go from the biggest L to the biggest W when it comes to progression systems. Atm books are a mandatory system for engravings that are completely useless until you reach 20/20 legendary books creating a massive paywall especially for new players but also alt enjoyers. You can also only use books for 2 out of 5 engravings and the other 3 have to be bought again for each new character through stones and accessory.
With the new system you now get a massive free baseline (I use Grudge as example since we have pictures of that) of 15% from blue and purple books (since you get tons of those from events etc. and they will always be cheap on the AH). And then you get slow 0.75% increments of power for each 5 extra legendary and relic books you buy. This means new players will instantly have access to a decent amount of the power and then have a slow and steady progression instead of having to face a giant paywall for all 20 books at once.
The books now also apply to ALL 5 engravings meaning they turned engravings as a whole into a ROSTERWIDE RNG FREE SYSTEM where the investement on your main also benefits all your alts making alts much cheaper aswell as balance updates hurting way less if your class suddenly gets a new build.
Obviously in the short term it is a new gold sink with relic books and lego books you dont have yet but the gold you spent into this system has 0 RNG involved and it will benefit every single character you will ever create which to me makes it probably the best progression system they have in the game.
Stones:
Atm stones are a mandatory system for your engravings that can be a massive gold and pheon sink depending on RNG since you are forced to get a 7/7 and anything below is useless on each new char which sucks for new and old players.
With the new system suddenly a 7/0 stones is also totally usable for new players and alts since the difference between 7/7 and 7/0 is only 3% dmg which nobody will ever gatekeep you for.
Yes obviously once you start maximizing your chars you wanna go for 7/7 stones again and the RNG of the whole system is the same as before but the big difference is that you aren't forced into doing it anymore to just make your char playable with engravings. It is now a minor dmg increase that you can come back to at any time once you have the ressources for it.
Accessories:
Everyone seems to be worried that you now have 5 new bracelets to roll and everything got worse than before but if you think about it current accessories are much worse RNG. You have base stats, quality and engravings on them and only a single shot per accessory to get a useful roll and it is again very binary where it is either completely useless or extremely good. With the new system you have multiple chances and the progression is much more linear where you can go for small dmg increases first and only once you maxed out other systems come back to improve your dmg with them.
Also the biggest change in this system compared to bracelets is that you can roll and then still sell AFTER the rolls. This means if you don't like the RNG part of this new system you can completely ignore it and buy finished accessories on the market for fixed prices.
This makes the system identical to its current form of just buying the right ones for you on the market with the difference that you now have options and can choose how much you wanna invest depending on how much power you want/how much gold you have to spare. It's again an amazing system for alts and new players who will be MUCH cheaper than before and even for your main it is a nice RNG free (unless you choose otherwise) gold sink system with more freedom compared to before.
And for anyone arguing "you are actually forced into upgrading all these systems instantly cuz of gatekeep"...no you won't. I feel like people overestimate the amount of effort people go into when it comes to gatekeeping. The order of operations for most people when it comes to gatekeeping goes: Roster Level -> Title(if asked for) -> Class(depends on the person of course) -> Ilvl -> Transendence+Elixir -> Engravings -> Gems And if there are no red flags along this path they will most likely accept. Nobody checks stuff like quality, bracelets etc. and people won't start with it here by going over every single accessory or whether someones Grudge deals 1.5% more dmg etc. And the few people that are cringe enough to go to these lengths in gatekeeping you don't wanna be in the party anyways.
Now overall all these changes give two big things: Flexibility and very cheap baseline power levels. The cheap baseline is absolutely amazing for new players who can instantly get their main and alts going without having to spend hundreds of thousands of gold on these system just to get a playable char in terms of engravings. It is also amazing for vets when it comes to trying out new alts because you don't have to wait and commit to a class with each new Express pass and instead can create a functional good alt for almost no gold and try them out in T3 raids before deciding whether or not you wanna commit to them. Your build is now much more flexible than before since you can easily swap out engravings for others and at worst loose 3-6% dmg and in most cases since books are rosterwide you loose no dmg at all. This can allow you to experiment with new builds, adjust to balance patches more easily, have PvP builds, swap between both Class engravings of your class without any extra cost and so on.
Now one limiting factor of this flexibility that I haven't adressed yet and is my 2nd L of these new systems is gems.
Gems:
When you change around engravings you often also change around abilites which means you also have to change Gems in a lot of cases but it is not realistic to just have spare high lvl gems laying around for each ability but you also can't reroll with silver everytime you change around your build. I think one change they should have introduced here is that instead of getting gems like in T3 currently you unlock a gem slot of the respective level and can then apply this gem slot to any skill and change the skill around whenever you want. If you wanna be extra nice make the gem slots rosterwide progression but that would probably be too much hopium to ever happen. But in general if they somehow make gems changeable in an easy way so you can easily switch builds it would just really compliment all the other changes they seemingly made with the goal for more flexibility.
Now the whole Lvl 10 -> Lvl 8 gems for T4 I don't think is that problematic. Gems have always been an extremely solid RNG free progression system (if we exclude the Lvl 10 dmg vs CDR roll) that people don't mind investing gold into and since in Korea the system is just maxed out for a lot of players raising the ceiling is just a nice way to give these players a way to invest into this system again. For an average player in the west not much changed by them raising the ceiling of gems...you won't suddenly get gatekept because your gems are Lvl 6-8 again because guess what...everyone around you also only has Lvl 6-8 gems and very few people will instantly go back to 10 again. The same way how a year ago nobody expected you to have Lvl 10 gems in the West nobody will expect gems above Lvl 6-8 in T4 for a long time.

I'll start with: No spoilers past seasons 1&2. If the information I am asking for is past these seasons, just tell me that I can find it in season 3 or the other movies without spoiling anything. However, here's your warning for 1&2 spoilers, nothing past that should be included below.
Anyways, I've been rewatching the Psycho Pass seasons 1&2 series incredibly closely. I've been writing a synopsis for each episode, including main key points along with my opinion on the character development (Will share in another thread sometime) so I know I haven't missed a ton of information. But I am surprised by the lack of information provided about Akane's family.
Perhaps I have missed the details we were given about her family? I was curious if anyone knew of any information about Akane's parentals. I'm genuinely curious by whom she was born and why we never hear about them aside from her grandmother- but it may be a stupid point to bring up her parentals considering they wouldn't add much into the plot realistically. It's just interesting I couldn't find a lot of information regarding this.
Spoiler Aoi Tsunemori is the only family member we truly see in season 2. I think it's incredibly sad that the only family member she has is brutally murdered at the hands of Sakuya Togane. It really pissed me off, not to mention the newer inspector Shimotsuki sitting inside the MWPSB at the end drinking her coffee like she isn't an absolute snake. I was boiling!
We know Akane was born on April 1st, 2092, has blood type A, she's 5"4 (163cm), 108lbs (49kg), and the fact she was top of her class. We know she's a very well-studied individual & VERY smart. Like dead set smart regarding cases just like Kogami was. Her hue never clouds in seasons 1-2 either. I remember Head Chief making a remark to Ginoza about how your psycho pass can be /possibly/ genetic, & I'm just so curious to know who Akane was born from.
Anyways that's my lil rant, drop the info if you'd like, I can't wait to see if anyone responds! (I'm new to Reddit).

I am a lifelong Patagonia customer and probably own 40 pieces between bags, clothing, and accessories. I try my hardest to support companies (regardless of their country of origin) where I know the products I am using are free from abuse of those who made them. As I got older and became more conscious of these causes, I began to study as much as I could on Yvon Chouinard and the efforts he has made to have Patagonia be a company completely free from any inhumane and unethical treatment of children, workers, animals, etc. I truly want to believe the heart of the company and its mission is in the right place. I know for a fact Patagonia pays all it's U.S. workers very well; retail, wholesale, corporate/admin, etc.
But one thing I cannot get past is why Patagonia products *must* be made in 3rd world countries. I have read Patagonias stock response they send to anyone who inquires about their goods being made overseas. According to Patagonia, the bottom line seems to hinge on the fact that the textiles used to make Patagonias products are all created in 3rd world countries, therefore the garments must be produced wherever the textiles are. Here's what I don't understand and my apologies if I am over-simplifying it. If Patagonia was truly dedicated to ensuring both ethical production and safe working conditions, where they can monitor their factories and factory workers daily, weekly, etc., and their obligation to use 3rd world factories is strictly due to textile locale and not as a cost saver (as they insist it isn't), then why wouldn't they just import the textiles to the U.S. and have U.S. workers assemble the garments, as opposed to having completed garments imported here? I know Patagonia insists they don't use inhumane factories, but according to Follow The Money (an investigative journalism organization), Patagonia do, in fact, use the same sweatshops as Nike, Adidas, and many other verified human rights violaters. Patagonia claims they visit the factories once a year to ensure safe and humane working conditions, but what factory owner can't tuck his shirt in for one day a year to pass inspection? (and Follow the Money still cited numerous infractions)
And worse case scenario, if they truly cannot import the textiles, why doesn't Patagonia simply open their own dedicated factory in Sri Lanka that they can monitor 24/7 and ensure 100% humane treatment of all workers? Patagonia grosses over $1B per year in sales. Billion, with a "B". Surely there is enough product being sold and capitol being generated to justify this ?
I don't want to cite a laundry list of companies to pit Patagonia against but I will name Darn Tough Socks, who make the finest socks I've ever owned, as an example a of a company producing top of the line garments 100% in the U.S. (Vermont), and yet their sock prices are on par with Patagonias. I also read where they are now importing certain proprietary threads from overseas in order to create certain specialty socks. So why can't Patagonia do that? I also own numerous shirts produced in the U.S. using 100% American grown organic cotton, and they are not any pricier than Patagonias basic tees.
Sorry if this post seems facetious. Not my intention. But every time I go down the rabbit hole on my favorite brand, I come back with more questions than answers.

Everytime someone says "NO ONE SHOULD GET PLASTIC SURGERY JUST ACCEPT YOUR NATURAL FEATURES" it pisses me off. Who are you to tell someone how they should feel about THEIR appearance? They cherry pick examples of extremely good looking celebrities getting over the top surgeries, when in reality, a lot of plastic surgery is below average or extremely ugly people getting surgery to look normal. (And yes, I have personally seen a lot of cases where a procedure or two made a massive positive difference, that most people would praise if it was natural)
These people also cherry pick examples of celebrities with undesirable features. Like "if you have a big crooked nose, own it like Adrien Brody", well guess what? Those people are extremely conventionally attractive with everything other than their unconventional features. Not everyone looks like Michael B Jordan or Adrien Brody or Lady Gaga.
If you'd actually listen to the perspective of people who have gotten, say, nose jobs, (and these are direct quotes I see more than half of the time), they'll say "best decision I ever made" or "I regret not getting it sooner". Looking "ugly" because of your features like a recessed jaw, deformed nose, slanted mouth (and a lot of the time, all those things at once), is EXTREMELY frustrating to deal with, and if someone has a way to change those features I say all the more power to them.
It's easy to sit on your moral high horse as an average looking person with no deformities who has never been bullied, harrased or assaulted for their appearance before and say "hurr durr just accept how you look because I said so". And the worst part is, even people who are happy with their results get judged for their appearance, especially men who get nose jobs.
Why do you care what someone does with their own appearance, especially if they're clearly happy with it? Judging people for actually coping with being conventionally unattractive and finding a way out doesn't challenge beauty standards, it just gatekeeps them and makes life harder for people who've had relatively decent work done because now they have to be ashamed about it.

I’ve spent a good portion of the last few years doing some deep dive study of the Bible, trying to identify and undo false teachings from the network that were harmful to me. I think I may have identified another one and wondering if any of you can also validate it.
This calendar year I decided to do book studies of Job and 1-2 Peter, along with reading both Christian and secular authors’ writings on pain and suffering, to develop a more sound doctrine of suffering.
Reading 1 Peter 4 this week, it occurred to me that this passage (and all that I’ve studied so far including Job) does not speak to degrees of suffering among believers. It just states that believers will suffer, that if you are a Christian, suffering is to be expected. Peter doesn’t indicate—I don’t think anyway, unless I’m missing something—that he, for example, will suffer more because he is a leader of the church. He doesn’t indicate anywhere that that’s a given, that degree of suffering is directly proportional to leadership without exception, or that suffering to a higher degree means you are a more mature or “better” Christian.
I realized that the idea that pastors ALWAYS suffer more than the rest of us, and that we therefore should respect and revere them, was something that had got into me when I was in the network. Mike Stephens used to preach a sermon once a year where he told the story of being asked to become a pastor. He initially said no because as he stated, “I know what happens to pastors. THEY SUFFER!” And, not wanting to suffer, he resisted becoming a pastor. People kind of chuckled when he told the story. And Mike HAS had a lot of suffering in his life. But who is to say that his degree or volume of suffering would not have occurred if he’d stayed in his previous profession and not become a pastor?
I realized that the belief that pastors inevitably suffer more than other Christians is something that took root in me. And it resulted in me both idolizing and revering the pastors while ignoring the likely deeper suffering and needs of those others around me who were either rank and file Christians or not Christians at all. It also resulted in me not understanding God is sovereign over and in our suffering, and he and not we is the one who orders our lives for his good purposes.
Correcting my theology has been really profitable for me because abuse it’s led me to repentance on this and several other topics.
Has anyone else, like particularly from other network churches than Vine, identified or experienced the effects of this teaching?

It just states that believers will suffer, that if you are a Christian, suffering is to be expected. Peter doesn’t indicate—I don’t think anyway, unless I’m missing something—that he, for example, will suffer more because he is a leader of the church. He doesn’t indicate anywhere that that’s a given, that degree of suffering is directly proportional to leadership without exception, or that suffering to a higher degree means you are a more mature or “better” Christian.
I realized that the idea that pastors ALWAYS suffer more than the rest of us, and that we therefore should respect and revere them, was something that had got into me when I was in the network. Mike Stephens used to preach a sermon once a year where he told the story of being asked to become a pastor. He initially said no because as he stated, “I know what happens to pastors. THEY SUFFER!” And, not wanting to suffer, he resisted becoming a pastor. People kind of chuckled when he told the story. And Mike HAS had a lot of suffering in his life. But who is to say that his degree or volume of suffering would not have occurred if he’d stayed in his previous profession and not become a pastor?
I realized that the belief that pastors inevitably suffer more than other Christians is something that took root in me. And it resulted in me both idolizing and revering the pastors while ignoring the likely deeper suffering and needs of those others around me who were either rank and file Christians or not Christians at all. It also resulted in me not understanding God is sovereign over and in our suffering, and he and not we is the one who orders our lives for his good purposes.
Correcting my theology has been really profitable for me because abuse it’s led me to repentance on this and several other topics.

This very well could be a topic for a different sub, but what really sparked this train of thought was my relationship to, well...relationships. (beginning of my little vent btw, it's not fully about romantic relationships)
Specifically romantic kind, how growing up I would have these feeling of crush (probably leaning twards squish) when I would be fascinated with a person, but I never have the sudden and raw urge to make it something. It could very well stem from insecurities I had as a pre-pubescent teen or just the fact that I never had the feeling of having a partner (also could be from being told to wait till marriage for thoes things). (Ps I do identify as aegosexual)
As I've gotten older, the feeling I would have twards people (in a vague romantic light anyways) was get less and less, as I've figured out emotions, and became mature.
And it's not just with thoes kinds of emotions, feelings of longing for someone have also never really been there for me. For example i had a parental figure growing up that wasn't a direct blood parent, but they were just as attentive in my life as one would be. When I was in my late tween, to reason unknowing of me, they had to leave, and during that process, of them getting in the car, crying while doing so, I felt nothing. It's honestly fucking frustrating how I can't feel anything.
My great grandfather passed years prior to that story, and the same case happened, where I saw how torn apart my grandfather became, and how the people around him also cried, but I couldn't even sympathize and feel his emotions. Fuck I couldn't even stand next to him.
I don't know if this is something undiagnosed in me that keeps me from feeling anything other than anger (usually when I get stressed I hit things) or temporary happiness, like when playing well in a video game or when I spoil myself and get a lego set or expensive latte.
I go though my life somewhat numb, but sometimes I show deep sadness randomly, like when I watch something that is vaguely sad, I start tearing up (and when i say vaguely i mean vaguely, like if a person is being kind or expresses being proud i tear up). Or when something is really sad (Specifically the movie "the whale") I break down crying, which could very well be pent up sadness from day to day.
Honestly sometimes I go though days on the verge of crying. I like to call myself pretty good at finding stuff about me, like how certain things in my past could have led to current issues or behaviors. But I still can't ignore the fact that I'm for some reason, on the brink of tears when I'm with myself.
And I do mean it's frustrating how I can't seem to express emotions like other people in my life do, or even the wanting to be with someone, like I'm personally fascinated with romance, how the feelings of longing and wanting to held by someone you trust and love, thoes emotions make no sense to me. And I don't intend to explore thoes because I don't feel compelled to do so.

First, I was on Japan Cupid, a dating site. On Japan Cupid, no one can chat unless one of you has a membership. I bought a 1-week membership. Within 5 minutes to 10 minutes, a woman nicknamed Yomi from Japan messaged me; this should have been a red flag for me. We talked for a while. She said she was interested in me. She asked me if I could move over to the dating site JPNDate because she paid for membership there and not Japan Cupid. She also promised to delete her account on Japan Cupid after we changed sites. She does delete her account off Japan Cupid. Japan Cupid is sus also. I don’t think it is the same company but it is still very sus. However, these women used that site to find men like me. That is a story for a different day. Unlike a normal scam artist, who may only have 1 or 2 photos, she has several photos on her profile. My trust in her grows a bit seeing that. She then privately messaged me several more photos of her. She asked me for some photos, which I sent. She then sends back happy and heartfelt emojis. She told me she doesn’t date Asian men anymore because they were violent to her in the past and her last boyfriend cheated on her. She talked about how she didn’t want to fight with me. She also said we could talk about any topic. She would compliment me often, as I did for her. Of course, on my profile page, I try to post my best pictures. Throughout my life, I have had many different hairstyles. She even mentioned this and got very happy and asked if I was a hairstylist. The spam of talking on JPNDate.com between us was from January 20th, 2024, to March 24th, 2024. On JPNDate, there is an upgrade system. You need Blue Diamond to chat with others. Crown to send videos. Blue Diamond is 20 dollars per month, and Crown is 80 dollars per month. I got the Blue Diamond membership at first. It showed her with it too. After a day or two, she asked me to upgrade like she did to the Crown membership so she could send me a video. I upgraded it, and she did actually send me a video. All pictures and the video match the same person and the same face. Some pictures were in different locations, and some were like three different pictures in the same place. We then later buy a 6-month Crown membership for each other because it is cheaper than 1 month at a time. I bought it for her, and she bought it for me. At this point, I start to believe. This person was giving me all their time. They reply very often, and their texting time was the same as Japan timezones every single day. They spoke not only English but also Japanese almost fluently. However, they did let me know that they're still learning English and sometimes use a translator. She let me know that this website has something called a mall. This should have been red flag number 2. You pay 1 American dollar for each gold point. Paypal is the only thing that works. When we started dating, she said it was normal for couples in Japan to send each other gifts. It was a symbol of forever love in Japan, she claimed. As an American, I didn’t know if this was true. I googled it and couldn’t get a clear answer. She said whatever I bought her, she would buy me as well. She asked if I liked necklaces or charms. I said anything was fine. She wanted me to pick up a necklace. At first, she picked up a $1,000 necklace from the site mall and asked me. I said no; that's way too much money for that. She said how about a 300-dollar Jade Romance charm. She told me to get her white one; she would get me the green one. I questioned if she was legit. She started crying. She somehow convinced me at the time that she was legit again. I did buy it. A few weeks later, I did receive the overpriced Green Jade Romance love charm to my address from her. I never told her which day exactly my tracking information said it would come to my house, but I asked her, and her tracking date was the same week as mine. By the way something almost the same as this necklace is 12 dollars on Amazon. It also broke when I got it in the mail. Probably cost them 2 cent to make. For the next few days, we had a wonderful, happy conversation. It is late January, and I know Valentine's Day is coming. I offered to get her flowers. I got her flowers and chocolate at a very high price of multiple hundred dollars. She then gets so happy. She told me many times how she wanted to go to America and find me. We talked about many topics for several more days. She told me she worked in an office in Tokyo. Yomi told me her real name was Miyuki Miyamoto. Which is very funny because I told her before I was a Nintendo fan, and this is the same last name as Mario and Zelda Creator. She also said she had her apartment to herself, which is true; she does own an apartment. She talked about how life is stressful right now in Japan. She claimed to have grown up in the Japanese town of Nagano, Japan. She also said she had gone to a university in Tokyo with a major in computer science. She wanted to visit America in July for 15 days when she had her time off. July is a normal time for people to get off in Japan for vacation, so I thought nothing of it. I told her that I was from a smaller town in California, but I lived not far from San Francisco. I told her how my town is quiet and how I could see mountains outside my house. She said she wanted a peaceful life and that life in Tokyo is too fast. And she always had great things to say about every picture I sent. We also talk about going on dates. I asked most of the questions, but she did ask me questions as well. I started to ask her a lot of questions about Japan. Like if she visited Himeji Castle, she said no. However, she did say yes to visiting Mount Fuji. I should have asked for a photo of this, but I didn’t. She was very happy; she told me very many topics about Japan. We even briefly talked about anime. She told me she liked Digimon, Dragon Ball Z, One Piece, and Detective Conan. This information is important later. We also talked about how both of us were big Disney fans growing up. She told me she wanted to go to Disney Land when she came to California to visit me. One day she told me, how work was busy today. I told her it was okay and we didn’t need to talk today. She did, however, still text me a little bit that day. This was the only day during our whole time talking when she was super busy. There is nothing wrong with this; all humans get busy. I decided to spend my evening drawing a picture of me and Yomi on a date to surprise her. When I sent it to her, she did not react. This was a red flag for me. I tried to convince myself that she just didn’t like drawings that much. I know I sound really dumb right here, but whoever I was talking to is very smart and knows a lot of things. I was in deep love. We started talking a few days later about the idea of meeting and going on dates together. I know that the yen is weak against the American dollar right now. I told them I would pay for anything they wanted when they were in America because I was in love. This was a big, big, big mistake. They then asked if I could give them 1500 dollars to buy a plane ticket. Never give money to people you never meet in real life, folks. Don’t be dumb like me. Turns out the ticket was actually 2100, so they asked for another 500 dollars the next day, claiming their friend let them borrow the money, and they paid the difference. They did show me a picture of a plane ticket. With the name Yomi and the correct airports in Tokyo and San Francisco. This gave me more trust in them; I got a lot of photos, videos, and even a picture of a plane ticket. At some point, I talked to them about social media. They claim to only have Skype and Line. I found it very hard to believe a woman in her 20s wasn’t on Instagram or Tik Tok. I went on Instagram and typed Yomi, and I found a Yomi who looked just like her. This made me think: why did she lie? What confused me is that all the pictures on her Instagram were different from the ones she sent me, other than one image that was the same. Meaning that the images were not clearly stolen from there. I looked up JPNDate online; there isn’t much info on this website (Right Now), other than one reddit forum from 1 year ago. Someone said something about being scammed by an IDOL on this site. They also said the website wasn’t in Japan but in China. I was wondering why I never saw new females joining the website; it was the same 23 pages worth of them. I wanted to test the website to see if it was legit. I made another account, a fake male account with AI artwork. It was approved in one second. I then made a fake female account; it said pending approval. It has now been 2 weeks since I made that account, and it still says pending approval. This means all the women on this website have to be fake actors. There is also a setting on JPNDate to see who has been online last or which accounts are the oldest. When I asked weeks before, Yomi claimed she had been on this website only for a short time. Her oldest picture was dated October 20, 2023. Yet she has the sixth-oldest account on JPNDate, according to the website. The Reddit forum I talked about before was over a year old. When I was on this website for a month, at least 10 other women tried to text me. There was this one profile of a woman from Taiwan, age 20. She texted me three times in one month. When I joined, her age was listed as 20, and at some point, she changed her age to 25 on her profile. I ignored all these women. This proves again that all these women are fake. I do know these are women based on how they type, but they are not truthful like they act like they are. As I write this, I just realized this is Yomi's friend or sister; it matches the other Yomi account's sister tag. They are part of the same dance agency Aiu_Agency on Instagram from SW Entertainment in South Korea. I knew this website wasn’t telling the truth. I found the JPNDate IP address and tracked it to a server in Hong Kong, China, hosted by Alibaba cloud servers. Reddit was right; the website is Chinese. However, Yomi is Korean which I learned later. I took pictures of the website code just in case. I asked Yomi if she knew Alibaba. Then she asked if I’m going to China—a very strange follow-up question. At this point, I was confused. Who is Yomi? I couldn’t find anything about Miyuki Miyamoto, only Yomi. On Yomi’s Instagram, she speaks Korean, not Japanese. I started to think there are no Japanese women on this website like they claim to be. She does speak Japanese, though. I started using more than 10 different software programs to track who Yomi was since she kept asking me for money. I found like 1000 pictures of an idol, WeChat model, singer, dancer, person on endless Chinese dating sites, and a valiant professional gamer part of the AI’U agency for over 8 years. I found two other Instagram accounts with Yomi's face. Another account in Chinese with an idol name other than Yomi also had a Facebook page. The Chinese account has a post about her going to Australia in early 2024, where she is typing in English words. It was a fake trip. I also found an account where she speaks only Korean on Instagram. I also found a tik-tok where someone dances and looks 100% the same as Yomi, to whom I’m talking. The part that is crazy is that none of the images are 100% the same, but the person is the same in all of them. This shocked me; I follow all the accounts. I saw the stories daily to see who this person was. Her Yomi account is just her normal pictures and atm company or something. Her Korean account is about traveling to Singapore, Spain, and South Korea. She also posts a lot about Disney toys here. When I talked to the scammer about Disney, I had no idea about this. At this point, I knew that many men had been scammed out of money for fake love, not just me. These women are real women. However, there are actors pretending to be in love. They will crush your heart and call you names after a few weeks if you don’t buy their stuff. It has to be from JPNdate Mall only, nowhere else. JPNdate Mall prices are crazy high. I am not sure if the point of the website is just for money or if it is actually for women to study English or what. Chinese women, pretending to be Japanese (most of them), that have connections to Korean music, dancing, and gaming on professional teams. Man, what a hell of a story this is. This sounds like a Hollywood movie, but it's real, or at least partly. At this point, everything I say seems to be true based on what I know. They are connected deeply with SW Entertainment. Yomi told me early on that she had one older sister and one younger brother. It seems like she is actually a twin, and she is the younger sister. Or it’s her friend she calls a sister from the dance Aiu Agency. Yomi claims to be 25, but I think she is closer to 27 or 28 based on finding a listing of her work in 2015 at Twitch Gaming. You have to be 18 or older to work at Twitch gaming, unless your parents sign things. Unless this job is fake, I don’t know. When I showed the pictures I found to Yomi on JPNdate, she played the victim card on me. Saying she thinks I’m a liar and she wants to break up. Then she gave me her Skype account to try to prove it was legit, and all the other images and accounts were stolen and fake. Her Skype name is Rose, with a One Piece picture. She sent me many voice clips, crying, trying to convince me that she was real. I put them in software, and the voice was 30% human, 70% AI. Clearly, a woman is changing her Chinese or Korean voice to sound Japanese. A PC gamer would know how to do this; they do it all the time to troll. Yomi told me she didn’t play video games anymore, but I found a picture that wasn’t that old of a woman who looked the same as her; she had a Nintendo Switch with a white OLED in it. Btw it’s a known fact that Yomi uses software to cheat in the Pc FPS games. We talk for a few more weeks on Skype. I can’t let Yomi, her sister, whoever the man is (I think her lover), and her idol dance friends scam men for their time and money. Yomi Chiense's name is Vera Yuanxin (维拉). Her twin sister goes by veravera_zhangg. Yomi “deleted her profile” when I exposed her. But One Yomi is still there with no pictures. Two they clearly have other accounts with people who look like she just changed hairstyle, talking and trying to scam other men. Remember when I said the anime part was important? On Yomi's Korean account, she has a friend with whom she talks about Digimon. She gave him a Disney toy. She told me she wanted to cosplay a fox; his profile is a fox. There is just so much proof that these are the same people. Later someone hit me up on Reddit from the Phillippines and told me how the same person Yomi scammed them. How for months Yomi promise them so many things. Then when they said it came to going on the plane to visit him they said they were sick or dying or something. Yomi also made a fake Instagram pretending to be Joe Biden and sent me a friend invite. I messaged and it was so funny how bad it was on their part. I said “Yomi are you trolling me?” then they deleted their account. This was on April 6th, 2024. Yomi tries so hard but use a lot of cheap things that are clearly fake like ai artwork, bots for like at ai_u agency, and fake profiles where she comments herself and attacks anyone who calls her out fairly. After exposing Jpndate they Ip ban my address lol. Then on social media joke about attacking me. If you call out their BS they threaten your family and yourself. Just stay away from all these sites if you're going to date online use well-known legit sites. I contacted Paypal and me and JPNDate.com had many emails back and forth. They pretended to do an investigation on Yomi real identity and said she was really Miyuki Miyamoto. It was so bullshit. I told them I would sue them if they were lying, The site no longer exists. The scam does, however. What happened After JPNDATE? April-June 2024 In April many fake Instagram accounts started following me each day. They are romance scams I never got them like this before. I didn’t fall for any of them. All or most were likely Yomi and her friends. Paypal did get me 4000 of 4080 dollars back but it took 6 weeks and multiple emails. JPNDate tells me they will be closing soon after PayPal went after them hard. Like I said I just wanted to find love. I made some stupid decisions along the way. However, I want to find out the truth and make sure other men don’t get scammed by them. I keep messaging Yomi's skype during this period, they never block me. They unfriended me but I could still send messages I wasn’t blocked. They even responded 2 times out of the 50 times I did this in the multiple-week span. I contacted the Aiu_Agency on Instagram (It is the same people as JPNDate) they pretended to be different people. I told them about Jpndate. They called me a hero, they said they loved me, and they thanked me for sending them all the pictures that Yomi sent me on Jpndate and Skype. They follow me on Instagram for 2 days. Then they unfollowed me randomly for no reason. They said their agency would do a police report and kill the scammer. I knew this was so bullshit. I told them how the scammers were making new profiles of them on Japan Cupid. Which is true. The leader Mingmei1344 (Which is Yomi Chinese account) claimed I was the scammer setting them up. She plays the victim card on me. I showed her all the messages and how I got the pictures, I didn’t steal anything. She told me her and her friends are okay if I hacked them, because I’m from the CIA. I am not from the CIA. It was a joke I made a few days before when she pretended to be a mob boss in Korea. I told her I am not a hacker. Right after that she and her friends all ban me other then Mingmei1344 account. Mingmei1344 Message me 1 more day, then block me. However, Mingmei1344 and the Aiu_Agency keep posting things on topics I told them days or weeks before. I checked their old post they never talked about any of this before that. I told these to Yomi on JPNDate and skype not Mingmei1344 again proving it is the same person. They look the same as well. Like the blue feather concept in love mythology, Gundams, Nintendo, Persona, and many many other topics. Yomi claimed to not know anything about videogames before I talked about it with her. I think this is partly a lie. This confuses me so I make fake Instagram accounts to message Mingmei1344 and Aiu_agency. She replies to my messages and Mingmei1344 even does a ask me a question thing on Instagram and replies to all of them. She clearly knows these accounts are from me Mark however she replies anyway. The replies were nice and positive things. Then later she bans them all again. Often Aiu-Agency Women (Yomi and her friends, Mostly Yomi) pretend to go to countries they are not actually in the picture, it’s all greenscreen effects. They also use Ai for Music covers Artwork. For music covers they pretend to sell millions of copies of but there is nowhere to buy such a music cover CD they claim to sell. Their music covers are claimed to be from popular songs kpop songs. I looked, at least not right now such CDs aren’t real. Of course, the songs are real but not their covers. Yomi is most of the women in the pictures but not all. They will post Ai cover artwork, multiple pictures of them using the greenscreen effect, then put a high-quality image of a famous Korean male singer. They never took these pictures of these Korean male singers. They download them and edit them. They pretend to perform with them but it is all fake. Mingmei1344 started always putting her with all the famous Mark’s in Korea. Only her not her staff with Mark’s. I think it’s a reference to me. She didn’t do this before meeting me I looked at her old post. Again Mingmei1344 is Yomi who is Jeong Nahyeon, who pretends to be Miyuki Miyamoto. She still references me sometimes in other ways and I send them messages to see what will happen next. One time I wrote about loving her to see what she would say. I do love Yomi, however I don’t want anyone to get scammed. I told her we could travel across the world together. She wrote in her next post on Aiu_agency on Instagram she liked this future with her future husband. It was a direct reply to what I asked the day before. I joined DateSteady after being contacted by a woman on Japan cupid. She is very interested in me and Yomi so I tell her everything. |

AJATT is a good method that encourages immersion learning and spaced repetition to learn a target language. However, I think its advice on output and other practices can be debated. I will explain these pieces of advice and how I think they should be improved. Of course, feel free to critique my points.
You should only output once you have enough input experience
Outputting, writing and speaking specifically are separate skills that should be trained on. While input can compliment these skills, actively trying to produce the most fluent sentences will help you to acquire faster due to the scientifically backed principles of deliberate practice and free recall. Input just doesn't help you retain as much compared to the former.
Translating is bad
I don't think translating is that bad for the following reasons:
I don't consider this to be a large threat, especially with the benefits of outputting. If you practise input and output in tandem then the risks will be minimal. Also these habits can be prevented by testing your output. This can be done by doing the following:
For Anki, you should find, save and recognise comprehensible input from your immersion
From my experience using Anki, the words you review are quite hard to remember because you are only using active reading to learn, which isn't a good way to learn vocabulary.
