Can the ID be falsified?
I bought a copy of Metallica Ride the Lightning today at a local fair. I thought the sleeve looked a bit... Blurry? But i bought it anyway since i'm not familiar with this form of media. Looking more closely, the sleeve is clearly printed, and so looks the sticker on the center of the plate. The plate itself looks brand new. And it sounds a bit like a remaster (sleeve and center of the plate state it's a roadrunner issue from 1984).. But i don't have an original to compare it to. And if discogs is to be trusted, the ID on the plate itself corresponds to said 1984 version. I'm confused. Is the ID fake and it's just a "rebadged remaster"? Is it a bootleg? Sounds pretty good overall though, for 23€ i'm not angry. I still want to know what is up with it.

2024.05.07 00:37 OnlyCookBottleWasher Emails not getting to my account

Hi,
Not sure if anyone else has had this issue.
My Spectrum internet is serviced via Central NY. TWCNY.RR.COM
I noticed less emails recently and tried to send my self an email from my account, then other accounts (gmail) and other Spectrum accounts (buisness account). Did not go through or to my account.
I chatted with a service agent and after going threw the usual checking the settings (which have not been changed) I learn there is a known 'issue' and our engineers are working on it. No other help or explanation other than I understand ... I use my email for work and personel use.
This is from the Chat:
Agent:
"Thank you that is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your patience. We are having a known issue with the email having latency issues. Engineering is aware of this issue and working on solution and we do appreciate your patience while we are continuously working on this. Is there anything else I can assist you with today?"
ME:
"what? latency issues.
yes, what is wrong with the account
this is not acceptable"
Agent: "
Yes, that is correct. The webmail server is experiencing delays when it come to the functionality of the email server. Engineering is aware of this issue and working on solution and we do appreciate your patience while we are continuously working on this
Nothing is wrong with the email it is specific to webmail in its entirety."
The agent went on to explain that it was okay since email is a free service via Spectrum:
Agent:
"The email is a free feature with your internet services."
This is not acceptable. I need reliable email and internet service.
Anyone else have similar issues especially in the same service area?
Thanks!

2024.04.19 07:01 sdmike1 Can receive but not send email

Hoping the brain trust can help. I could not find an answer searching. My wife and I use san.rr.com email address, and have for many, many years. We just got to the EU for a few weeks and we can receive but not send emails from our phones either on cellular (data roaming on) or WiFi. Everything else works (apps, chats, etc), including sending email when I switch to my gmail account as the sender address using the same apple Mail client as I do with my roadrunner account. Yesterday it was a “invalid sender address” error, and today it’s a mail server timeout.
I am configured to use mail.twc.com as my incoming and outgoing mail servers, unchanged from when in the states.
Yes, I know I need to abandon this dinosaur, but I have 3 more weeks in the EU and can’t start that process until I get back.
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

2024.03.21 20:46 CNH8R_Man I listened to every BROCKHAMPTON album. Here’s my ranking.

  1. iridescence
There is no other word to describe this album except “incredible.”
It is everything I could ever want in a BH album. It has the bangers. It has the deeper, more emotional moments. It has the experimental production. It has the stadium anthems. It has the recurring motifs.
It has everything. However, I don’t think it’s their magnum opus. That I’ll put in my #2 spot.

  1. ROADRUNNER: NEW LIGHT, NEW MACHINE
I assume this one will get the controversy started. I know a lot of you aren’t fond of this album, but I think it’s absolutely brilliant. It sees the group less energetic than iridescence, but rightfully so.
The subject matter is sad, difficult, and incredibly heavy. Despite this, and despite the group’s wavering stability behind the scenes, they managed to put out an insanely beautiful record with some of the best songs in their discography (THE LIGHT, WHAT’S THE OCCASION, WHEN I BALL).
It’s a vibe, it’s anthemic, it’s tragic, and it’s amazing. It feels like it took all of the best parts of iridescence and GINGER and synthesized them into one project. Although RR is not my pick for #1, this to me feels like the group’s MBDTF.

  1. SATURATION III
This is incredibly close to my pick for the #4 spot, and this was a tough choice. As far as the SATURATION trilogy goes, I think it’s safe to say that the group progressively came into their own more and more with each album, making SATIII the strongest and overall most cohesive album of the 3.
SATIII sees the group at their most dynamic, and has moments where every single member shines to the brightest of their ability. It’s high energy, and shows us the full original group at their absolute peak before everything happened with Ameer (who dominates on this album.)

  1. SATURATION II
There’s not much else to say here that I haven’t already. SATIII is just a minor improvement overall to SATII, which is already a phenomenal hip-hop record in its own right.
We get some of the group’s most iconic music in this album, and we see the boys pushing themselves to try new and unique sounds and themes. This is their first project that feels cohesive and intentional.

  1. The Family
I’m sure this placement isn’t going to be very popular. First off, I recognize that to some this isn’t even a BROCKHAMPTON record. While I get this, it’s still a collaboration between Kevin, Romil and bearface, and was intentionally released under the BROCKHAMPTON name to be considered as part of the group’s discography, so for the sake of this list I’ll count it as such.
That said, this album is top-to-bottom amazing. Never have we gotten such raw storytelling about the behind the scenes of the group, and the pure emotion poured into the overarching narrative makes this thing really a thing of beauty. The chipmunk soul production woven throughout is a great call-back to the group’s original Kanye inspirations, and the samples incorporated in the album make this feel like one big collage — something that’s both present in the album’s artwork by HK, and that’s been present in the group’s work since day one (they literally are a collage of different sounds, personalities, backgrounds, and talents.)
Call this a KA album all you want, but the impact of the group cannot be ignored on this record.

  1. GINGER
Perhaps it was the unreasonably high expectations I had for this album going in, but man this one was a letdown.
Let me clarify: this album is great. It has some beautiful songs, and has the group settle in this alt/pop sound that they really thrive in. The rap parts are more subdued in this album, and it works really well in the overall vibe. However, I view this album as somewhat of a step in the wrong direction for the group. Where iridescence is this strange, unique, experimental album, GINGER feels almost… safe. It doesn’t really take risks, and frankly, the second half of the record manages to fall flat pretty frequently. Everything after DEARLY DEPARTED feels somewhat forgettable to me, and even the titular track fails to bring energy to Act 2.
Overall, I can see what BH was trying to do with this one. In many ways, this album is what introduced a lot of people to the group that hadn’t listened to them before, and for that I’m thankful. But when sandwiched in-between 2 incredibly dynamic albums, it feels like more of an intermission in their discography than a vibrant record of its own.

  1. TM
Admit it or don’t, it doesn’t matter. This album is fun. Yes, the group basically didn’t exist anymore at the time of its release, and it’s a bit haphazardly thrown together. At times it feels empty (though this could be the context of the group’s break-up lurking in the shadows while you listen, but at other times, it sees the group enjoying themselves for the first time in a long time.
For as great as The Family is, I appreciate that Matt put this together as a more official send off the group. It feels almost like a love letter to BROCKHAMPTON, reminiscing on the group’s best moments and memories. It feels like flipping through an old photo book. There’s energetic tracks like NEW SHOES and LISTERINE, but there’s gorgeous odes to the band like MAN ON THE MOON. The album’s subdued, almost like GINGER, but I think it’s accomplishing exactly what it needed to.

  1. SATURATION
This is the group young and hungry, plain and simple. Really great wordplay and lyricism, interesting production, and a refreshing humor woven throughout. We get a glimpse into the things that make each member of BH special, and also get some of the group’s most beloved rap tracks.
When looking at the group’s entire discography, it just feels like the other albums are either more cohesive, more interesting, or more experimental. SATII and SATIII are both improvements on the foundation created by this album, but the fact that this album created that foundation is deserving of immense respect.

  1. All-American Trash
I actually don’t think this album is bad. It’s a nice intro to the group before the SAT trilogy, and it gives us a taste of the different band member’s personalities.
That said, the album as a whole is kind of a mess of scattered, incoherent ideas. Some hit, many don’t. They came into the game trying to do things differently, and to some extent they find success in doing so here. It just needed a lot of polishing, and luckily that happens in the trilogy to come afterward.

TL;DR Ranking:
  1. iridescence
  2. ROADRUNNER
  3. SATURATION III
  4. SATURATION II
  5. The Family
  6. GINGER
  7. TM
  8. SATURATION
  9. All-American Trash

Let me know your thoughts! If you agree, or if you really really disagree, I’d love to discuss.
Shoutout to the best boyband to ever do it.
