2024.05.11 21:16 Cizalleas A Miscellany of Items Relating to the Use of Weïrd Time Signatures in Rock Music
@
u/c-student Is the main theme of
by
Van der Graaf Generator in
19/16 time!? Is that what you were getting-@!? I've been trying to count the rhythm … but it's very difficult to do-so … but
I think it's
19/16 ! And I have a vague memory of trying to count it many years ago, & finding
19/16 then , aswell.
… and in which Canadian Rock Band
Rush get a very great deal of mention; & also, as broaching complex time-signatures somewhat earlier than they were,
King Crimson … but there seems to be precious little mention,
if any , of any Rock Band
other than King Crimson broaching complex time signatures in any great degree before they did.
In the case of
Rush, it could-well have had much to-do-with the influence of the literary & philosopherary colossus
(whose image appears to have uploaded as the frontispiece of this post … although that
seriously was not my intent!) - which is well-known to have
indeed been a mighty-&-puissant influence upon them - that they used complex time-signatures so-much: ie the ineffible nuancery of her genius 'translating', or 'sublimating', itself unto their music … or something of that nature.
This one seems to have an errour somewhat down the page - under the
Tool – ‘Lateralus’ section: it says
" 8/11 " , &
I'm sure it must mean
11/8 !
One thing that some of the commentors @ this-here Channel seem to fail to realise is that what they come-out with can be
directly compared to the discussions I used regularly to engage in IRL, & 'in-real-time', so-to-speak - ie contemporarily with the emergence of the music - considerable time-ago, about the Prog-Rock music of the 1970s upto 1982 or so, in which I took a vigorous part
generally without being berated about the stupidity of what I was saying. But maybe we
were all stupid, & sorely in-need of the kindly guruhood of these mentioned 'commentors'! And it's strange how
so-very often I would have someone who was a staunch believer in the
¡¡ Rock Music ought to be simple !! idiom berating me about my 'bothering with' the weïrd time-signatures of
Rush … but suddenly, strangely, it's become a bit 'dumb' even saying so-much as that Rush were exponents
@all of weïrd time signatures! … even to the extent of
“they just aren't! broaden your horizons!” .
Hmmmmmmn …
🤔
things that make you go “hmmmmmmn” .
And coming back to bona-fide music,
something else that makes you go “hmmmmmmn” is the way two different songs about
The Beast of the Christian apocalyptic text
The Revelation of John are both in
9/8 - ie
&
although the latter is by-far the more complex: there's a detailed analysis of it in the viddley-diddley
I wonder whether there's some
mystical significance to that choice that both bands were prompted by, or whether 'tis mere coïncidence.
And a thoroughly gorgeous - & also extremely natural-sounding - example of blend of
5/4, 6/4, & 7/4 time signature is
Have just found the following littyl gemns of wwwebsites, aswell.
Just remembered that
this has a passage in
7/8 , aswell:
And

has
11 passages - ie the chorus.
by
Gong is in
9/16 and has a
in it @ one point.
And
by
Radiohead is
bonkers : going-by one of the Youtube comments, I think it might be
13/16 .
by
Genesis is in

Jethro Tull is in

The Stranglers has passages in
13 .
by
Cat Stevens is in
9 .
@
u/c-student You were around in 1916!?
🤔
where were you when you read it!? @ the
Battle of the Somme, by-anychance!? Maybe you were transported thither by a time machine, like
😆😂🤣
¡¡ Oh silly me !! 🙄
not
1916CE but
19/16 time-signiature ! 'tis a
thoroughly lovely time-signiature, though, that is: I'm
duly honoured !
😁
I've added a bit more that might interest you - about
two completely separate songs about
The Beast of
The Revelation of John that are both in
9/8 time.

Contact Details for Hiraedu Helper: WhatsApp: +1 (213) 594-5657 Call: +1 727 456 9641 Website: hiraedu. com Email: info@hiraedu. com Genetics is the branch of science that seeks to understand the intricate mechanisms of heredity and variation. It is a field that has revolutionized our understanding of the world and has led to numerous breakthroughs in fields such as medicine, biotechnology, and evolutionary biology. In this blog, we will delve into the fascinating world of genetics, exploring Mendelian inheritance, genetic variation and evolution, gene mapping, and cloning.
Mendelian Inheritance Mendelian inheritance is the study of how traits are passed down from parents to offspring. Gregor Mendel, the father of genetics, discovered the fundamental laws of inheritance, including the law of segregation and the law of independent assortment. These laws describe how genes are inherited and how they interact to produce the characteristics of an organism.Mendelian inheritance is based on the following principles:
- The Law of Segregation: Each pair of alleles (different forms of a gene) separates from each other during gamete formation, resulting in each gamete receiving only one allele.
- The Law of Independent Assortment: Alleles for different genes are sorted independently of each other during gamete formation, resulting in a random combination of alleles in the offspring.
- The Law of Dominance: One allele can be dominant over another allele, resulting in the dominant allele being expressed in the phenotype.
Genetic Variation and Evolution Genetic variation is the raw material for evolution. It is the differences in the genetic information between individuals and populations that allow for adaptation and evolution. Genetic variation can arise through mutations, genetic drift, gene flow, and recombination.Evolution is the change in the frequency of alleles in a population over time. It is driven by natural selection, genetic drift, mutation, and gene flow. Evolution can result in the adaptation of populations to their environment, the formation of new species, and the extinction of others.
Gene Mapping and Cloning Gene mapping is the process of identifying the location of genes on chromosomes. It is a crucial step in understanding the function of genes and their role in inheritance. Gene mapping can be done using various techniques, including linkage analysis and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH).Gene cloning is the process of creating multiple copies of a gene or DNA sequence. It is a powerful tool for studying gene function, genetic engineering, and biotechnology. Gene cloning can be done using various techniques, including molecular cloning and polymerase chain reaction (PCR).

The Fascinating World of Cell Biology: Exploring Cell Structure, Cell Cycle, Cellular Transport, and Signaling If you are unable to Handle your Online Biology Exam, Assignments and other coursework Tasks, get paid help from Online Helpers at Hiraedu!
Contact Details for Hiraedu Helper: WhatsApp: +1 (213) 594-5657 Call: +1 727 456 9641 Website: hiraedu. com Email: info@hiraedu. com Cell biology is the branch of science that seeks to understand the intricate mechanisms of cells, the basic units of life. It is a field that has revolutionized our understanding of the world and has led to numerous breakthroughs in fields such as medicine, genetics, and biotechnology. In this blog, we will delve into the fascinating world of cell biology, exploring cell structure and organelles, cell cycle and division, cellular transport, and signaling.
Cell Structure and Organelles Cells are the basic units of life, and their structure and organelles play a crucial role in their function. The cell membrane, also known as the plasma membrane, is the outermost layer of the cell that separates the cell from its environment. The cell membrane is semi-permeable, allowing certain substances to pass through while keeping others out.Inside the cell membrane, there are various organelles that perform specific functions. The nucleus is the control center of the cell, containing the genetic material in the form of DNA. The mitochondria are the powerhouses of the cell, responsible for generating energy in the form of ATP. The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is a network of membranous tubules and cisternae that is involved in protein synthesis, transport, and storage. The ribosomes are small organelles found throughout the cytoplasm, responsible for protein synthesis.
Cell Cycle and Division The cell cycle is the process by which cells grow, replicate their DNA, and divide into two daughter cells. The cell cycle consists of three main stages: interphase, mitosis, and cytokinesis. Interphase is the longest stage of the cell cycle, during which the cell grows, replicates its DNA, and prepares for cell division. Mitosis is the stage during which the replicated DNA is divided equally between two daughter cells. Cytokinesis is the final stage, during which the cytoplasm divides and the cell splits into two daughter cells.
Cellular Transport and Signaling Cellular transport refers to the movement of molecules and ions across the cell membrane. There are two main types of cellular transport: passive transport and active transport. Passive transport occurs without the use of energy, while active transport requires energy to move molecules against their concentration gradient.Cell signaling is the process by which cells communicate with each other through signaling pathways. Signaling pathways involve a series of molecular interactions that allow cells to respond to changes in their environment. There are two main types of cell signaling: intracellular signaling and intercellular signaling. Intracellular signaling occurs within the cell, while intercellular signaling occurs between cells.

Contact Details for Hiraedu Helper: WhatsApp: +1 (213) 594-5657 Call: +1 727 456 9641 Website: hiraedu. com Email: info@hiraedu. com Molecular biology is the branch of science that seeks to understand the intricate mechanisms of life at the molecular level. It is a field that has revolutionized our understanding of the world and has led to numerous breakthroughs in fields such as medicine, genetics, and biotechnology. In this blog, we will delve into the fascinating world of molecular biology, exploring the structure and function of DNA, gene expression and regulation, and protein synthesis and function.
DNA Structure and Function DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid) is the molecule that contains the genetic instructions for the development and function of all living organisms. It is a long, double-stranded helix made up of nucleotides, which are the building blocks of DNA. Each nucleotide is composed of a sugar molecule, a phosphate group, and one of four nitrogenous bases: adenine (A), guanine (G), cytosine (C), and thymine (T). The sequence of these nitrogenous bases determines the genetic information encoded in the DNA.The structure of DNA is crucial to its function. The double-stranded helix is stabilized by hydrogen bonds between the nitrogenous bases, with A pairing with T and G pairing with C. This complementary base pairing allows for the replication of DNA and the transmission of genetic information from one generation to the next.
Gene Expression and Regulation Gene expression is the process by which the information encoded in DNA is converted into a functional product, such as a protein. This process involves the transcription of DNA into RNA (ribonucleic acid), followed by the translation of RNA into protein.Gene regulation is the process by which cells control the expression of genes in response to environmental stimuli, developmental signals, or cellular differentiation. This regulation can occur at multiple levels, including transcriptional regulation, post-transcriptional regulation, and epigenetic regulation.Transcriptional regulation involves the binding of proteins called transcription factors to specific DNA sequences, which either stimulate or inhibit the transcription of nearby genes. Post-transcriptional regulation involves the control of RNA processing, transport, and translation. Epigenetic regulation involves the modification of DNA or histone proteins, which can affect gene expression without altering the underlying DNA sequence.
Protein Synthesis and Function Proteins are the workhorses of the cell, performing a wide range of functions, including catalyzing metabolic reactions, replicating DNA, responding to stimuli, and transporting molecules across cell membranes. Protein synthesis, also known as translation, is the process by which the genetic information encoded in RNA is converted into a protein. This process occurs in the cytoplasm, where ribosomes read the sequence of RNA nucleotides and assemble the corresponding amino acids into a polypeptide chain. Proteins can be modified after synthesis through various mechanisms, such as proteolysis, phosphorylation, and ubiquitination. These modifications can affect protein function, localization, and stability.
Molecular biology is a fascinating field that has revolutionized our understanding of the world. The structure and function of DNA, gene expression and regulation, and protein synthesis and function are all crucial aspects of molecular biology that have far-reaching implications for our understanding of life and disease. Understanding the intricacies of molecular biology has led to numerous breakthroughs in fields such as medicine, genetics, and biotechnology. It has also led to the development of new treatments and therapies for diseases, as well as a deeper understanding of the natural world. As we continue to explore the fascinating world of molecular biology, we may uncover even more secrets of life and uncover new ways to improve human health and well-being. Whether you are a scientist, a student, or simply a curious individual, the world of molecular biology is sure to captivate and inspire.

2024.05.08 21:25 elysiansss 25 and ready for another change?
Some background to start: I have a Bachelors degree in psychology (I know) and after obtaining that, I have worked in both childcare (nonprofit org), as an Ed tech in a middle school, and an admin assistant at another nonprofit for those with developmental disabilities. Childcare was very tiring and underpaid, working as an Ed Tech was not what I was expecting it to be, and the admin assistant job was just kind of a “filler” to gain more office-type experience while I thought about what to do next.
During this time, I had decided I wanted to obtain a graduate certificate in Substance Use Disorder counseling, which is something I felt I wanted to do at the time. While finishing up this program, I started my current job working in public health doing substance use prevention for yet another nonprofit, that works under my state’s CDC. I’ve been at this job for about a year and while there are some parts that I love, like working with youth, and developing materials to distribute (flyers, presentations, etc), there’s enough there making me feel like it is still not the right fit for me.
The nonprofit world is really starting to weigh on me - I know that there isn’t a lot of money to be made in the future of where I am, and there are so many strict guidelines I am constantly having to follow due to working under a state program, that is federally grant-funded. I also have the feeling, every. single. day. that the people I’m surrounded by at work are so much smarter than I am and are way better at this work than I am. I know I’m new to it, but there’s other people that I work with who are in the same position as me (mid-twenties, just starting out in the field) and they seem way more capable than I am. I’m not finding myself being super passionate about my work, and I’m often embarrassed telling people that I work at a public health nonprofit, since a lot of the people I surround myself with are making more money and have more opportunity for growth in their current positions.
Right now I’m at a point where I’m not sure what direction to take. I’ve taken a few career tests, and my personality type is INFJ, so I typically get the “helper” results, like social service or education-type jobs. I’m very open to exploring new fields, but not sure how to do so while I’m working full-time in my very busy position right now. I also don’t want to “waste” my degrees, nor do I have the money to go back to school for another one.
What should I do? What career opportunities you all think I should be looking into?
I should add that I don’t have a huge problem with education, however I don’t have an education degree nor do I know what department I would be in, I love being able to work remotely sometimes, and I’m used to being very flexible with my schedule. I’m open to hearing all types of possibilities!
