I truly try my best to enjoy the suburbs. I live in a beautiful home with a nice neighborhood. But my neighbors are not friendly. No one ever goes outside. There’s actually community spaces but only elderly people show up to the events. I don’t even know if someone my age lives here and it’s so hard to make friends. My neighbors pretend I don’t exist I wish it wasn’t like this. There’s no sense of community although we live on top of each other. Summer time is the worst time for me. I’m home all day with my little brother basically free babysitting all summer and my parents don’t even ask if I have something planned. It’s just expected. I feel like a house wife sometimes it’s ridiculous. I’m always cooking cleaning for my family and never leaving. Just waiting all day for them to come home. I try to dive into my hobbies but sometimes I just can’t take it anymore. I want to go out I want to have fun but there’s no where to go nothing to do if you don’t have a car. Without a car I feel dependent on everyone else. I feel like a burden. I don’t know what to do. It gets so depressing I feel like I’m wasting my youth. Now that I’m 20 the anxiety is getting worse. Idk what to do. I’m open to suggestions. Sometimes I just want to leave but I don’t have the funds and I’m going to a state university full tuition.

I want to give a quick explanation of how copyright works - and I'll do so through quick blurbs n some myth/reality bullets.

  1. Subject matter of copyright: In general28(a) Copyright protection subsists, in accordance with this title, in original works of authorship fixed in any tangible medium of expression, now known or later developed, from which they can be perceived, reproduced, or otherwise communicated, either directly or with the aid of a machine or device. Works of authorship include the following categories:(1) literary works;(2) musical works, including any accompanying words;(3) dramatic works, including any accompanying music;(4) pantomimes and choreographic works;(5) pictorial, graphic, and sculptural works;(6) motion pictures and other audiovisual works;(7) sound recordings; and(8) architectural works.(b) In no case does copyright protection for an original work of authorship extend to any idea, procedure, process, system, method of operation, concept, principle, or discovery, regardless of the form in which it is described, explained, illustrated, or embodied in such work.
- Myth: I can use any image/song/video/writing I want.
- Reality: No. Not true at all.
- Myth: Well they never said it's copyrighted.
- Reality: Upon publication (and even while a work in progress) a work is automatically protected via copyright under US Law.
- Myth: Well they never sold it.
- Reality: It doesn't have to be commercialized to be protected.
- Myth: Well it was a long time ago
- Reality: Possibly true...as long as the creator is deceased (or if multiple creators, the last living one is deceased) and the required time has passed...although this gets tricky with "estates."
(d) Duration of Rights.—(1) With respect to works of visual art created on or after the effective date set forth in section 610(a) of the Visual Artists Rights Act of 1990, the rights conferred by subsection (a) shall endure for a term consisting of the life of the author.
So what's this thing I hear called "Fair Use?"
Straight from the source:
  1. Limitations on exclusive rights: Fair use41Notwithstanding the provisions of sections 106 and 106A, the fair use of a copyrighted work, including such use by reproduction in copies or phonorecords or by any other means specified by that section, for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research, is not an infringement of copyright. In determining whether the use made of a work in any particular case is a fair use the factors to be considered shall include—(1) the purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of a commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes;(2) the nature of the copyrighted work;(3) the amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole; and(4) the effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work.The fact that a work is unpublished shall not itself bar a finding of fair use if such finding is made upon consideration of all the above factors.

  1. above...if it's non-profit educational use, you're usually good to go...if it's for money or trade (commercial nature) then you're usually NOT...unless YOUR piece is "transformative"
Transformative uses are those that add something new, with a further purpose or different character, and do not substitute for the original use of the work.
- Myth: Well this is paid for in Algos, not USD so it's not "commercial"
- Reality: IT IS commercial. You could even barter for bacon and it'd be commercial. It's an exchange of one good/service for another good/service.
- Myth: My piece with Batman inside a card is "transformative"
- Reality: No, unfortunately, more-than-likely the courts would say it's not. A good litmus test is..."If Warner Bros Entertainment (owner of Batman) wanted to make an NFT/ASA "Batman card" would yours compete with it or be possibly mistaken (by a reasonable person - so in America think 8th grade education) for real merchandise? Probably...thus it's not transformative enough.
"nature" gets a little tougher. This looks at protecting the "creative process." Thus, using other works of art is less-likely to be protected than using factual sources - like historical photographs since it's easier to "create art" and thus "transform" factual pieces than other art pieces. This is also talking to things like "parody." Satire is NOT protected. "Parody" is. What's the difference? LegalZoomputs it well: While a parody targets and mimics the original work to make a point, a satire uses the original work to criticize something else entirely. Another way to look at it is that satire uses another work as a way to comment on something happening in the world that has nothing to do with the original work.
- Myth: I added a different border, extra planets, and some blur effect to MTZ's World of Light - it's a new piece of art.
- Reality: Not likely the courts will see it that way.
- Myth: This guy added a filter, some burn effects, and collaged a bunch of newspaper headlines together - isn't that a violation!
- Reality: Probably not...the courts would probably see this as a creation of art out of factual sources.
amount/substantiality in relation to the whole...this is where using clips of songs that are only like 5 seconds long works! But using more than that...runs into problems. This is tough to decipher too...as some songs are EASILY identifiable from just 5 seconds (Ice, ice, baby) - and thus NOT fair use. But some aren't. Usually you're safe using a very small clip of a song or video - especially if you're adding more to it. But this is a dangerous game to play - and there's places to get free audio (some sources below)
effect of the use - this is probably the biggest one. Courts will look at simply...does YOUR work affect the sales or potential for sales of the copyright owner. Of note...this is looked at at the time of the issue being brought to the court, not at the time of sale. For example, let's say my batman card sells for 10 Algos today, but Algorand BLOWS UP and soon every NFT is on Algorand. And now my OG Batman NFT is seen as one of the first Batman ones and official. Warner Bros gonna sue the shit outta whoever owns it at the time they sue to get the rights to all sales of that NFT. So that person is left holding an empty bag when Warner Bros wins in court.
- Myth: Well they're not commercializing it NOW so I'm safe.
- Reality: Technically, yea Warner Bros probably won't spend the money to go after the OG artist and the hands the asset passed through...HOWEVER, they may. That's their right. Who knows - the Napster days showed us the lengths companies will go to. EVEN BIGGER HOWEVER, the last person holding it when Warner Bros DOES decide to go after that Batman NFT...uh oh for them - they just lost their asset.
- Myth: Well it's been like a year, and no one has brought up copyright. So I'm good.
- Reality: If this was in a normal market...maybe this argument would work. If McDonald's let you sell a Ronald McDonald poster for like a year on Amazon with no issues, some court may say "bro, you took too long to bring this to us." HOWEVER, with cryptocurrency being so new (and Algorand being so little known/discussed), most courts would see it as "reasonable" that a copyright owner failed to exercise their rights within a year - possibly even a decade. (Updated because I realized last example dealt with trademark not copyright :o)
So what am I safe to use?
US Government works (mostly)...any deemed free to use by creator...and any a copyright lawyer says they have your backs on (cuz now they're liable).

If not, I'd look up copyright law, consult supreme court cases concerning copyright, and ultimately, talk to a lawyer.

I'm what one would call a Constitutional Libertarian. I support the U.S constitution. I believe we need to greatly reduce the size and scope of the Federal Government, bring back power to the States, and only use the Federal Government for defense, emergencies, and inter-State duties. Overall, I'd reduce the Federal government to 5-10% of the size it is now, but I still appreciate the good the government has done.
I respect the federal government for protecting and securing our freedom in the Vietnam war by fighting against Communist Imperialists. I am very against the draft, I wish they simply offered higher pensions for Veterans to attract a larger volunteer army, and I would be happy for them to run deficits to finance this operation. I support the government for investing billions into R&D and the Space Race to develop the technologies that the private sector has capitalized on to this day. My parents' company Microsoft was only possible because of research and technology developed by the Pentagon. I support this.
I support President Reagan's Star Wars program, I support President Clinton's ADX Supermax Prison to keep us safe from terror. I support President Obama's toppling of Islamic Dictator Mummar Gaddafi, who has used his country's wealth for decades to finance International Terrorists, violating the rights of millionf of people, including Americans.
When Covid hit, the Federal Government played an active role in developing the vaccine under Operation WARP Speed. This was a national security issue and for that I support it. I view this no different than the Manhatten Project. The vaccines were vital for our national security and it was the duty of the Federal Government to roll those out and get them into as many peoples arms as they could.
What type of Libertarian is this? I still support Liberty and free markets, limited government and constitutionalism, but there are some exceptions, as I listed.

I'm a freelance artist who specializes in making character portraits/sprites. Would love a quick sanity check on my wife and I's 10-day itinerary in Spain, going in Oct/Nov timeframe. We will be flying both into and out of Madrid. We are looking to travel by high speed train from location to location. We don't want to feel too rushed, but would love to see some smaller towns as well as truly experience southern Spain.
We intend to head down south the morning we get into Madrid, and then finish our trip back in Madrid.

For context im 166cm 20m
i have been quite active as a child, between ages 13-17 didn’t really do anything besides some walking, skating, cycling etc but mostly played games, smoked pot and stayed at home.
So:
I worked out a ton between the age of 18-19 ( started as soon as i turned 18 and stopped right after i turned 19) and before that did around 1000 push ups, 1000 sit ups and 1000 squats a month for a while.( my estimate is 6 months but didn’t really keep count back then. )
At first i did an hour workout at gym 5-7 times a week but that only lasted for 2-3 months and after that it settled between 2-4 times a week.
I also have casually walking for an hour 3-7 times a week for the last 4 years and have picked up jogging lately but i have done it only handfull of times
I then went to army and stopped really all kind of fitness besides the training i got there which was quite heavy itself.
After i got out of army (20 yrs old) i played videogames for 4 months and after that i got employed at a job which involves loads of heavy lifting and the days are 10-13 hours. I have been here for 8 months.
I have started to lose fat and rather fast at that but can’t see really any muscle loss (YET?) which im afraid will come later.
I dont really notice any difference in my eating but this still is happening and i’m weirded out as i dont really feel like i do anything but im still ( as i see myself ) gaining muscle and losing fat at a fast pace.
Also seeing my self as muscular adds to it as i worked out real hard at the gym, ate well and did my cardio but never did i have visible abs or veins at my calves, thighs and hips.
As i am confused and im not losing weight i need some quidance how to approach the situation. I got a basic blood test done and only had some excess free fat in my body.

When I was a teen, I carved two small pieces of soapstone in art class, one outside and one inside, both without a mask. I know that some soapstone contains asbestos, talc, and silica. It's been 10 years, and I have no symptoms and never had any. I was wondering if I'm just a bit paranoid or if I should talk to my doctor about it. A few years ago, I had a lung scan because of my pectus excavatum, and my lungs were all right, but there was a 4mm non-calcified micro nodule on one side. The doctor told me that I was probably born with it. So, since discovering that soapstone could contain asbestos, should I be worried? This is the scan result worry its in french Im a really stressed person so i just want to free my mind from this. Tks for ur help

TL;DR: Student teaching this fall & graduating in December, considering teaching private lessons on weekends during the semester & possibly continuing after graduation. Have a few questions about the logistics of teaching private lessons like what to charge, location of lessons, dealing w taxes, and if it’s even possible to support myself financially teaching privately.
Hi all,
I’m a senior art ed student slated to student teach this fall and graduate in December. At this point, after teaching in person practicum units in elementary, middle, and high schools, I have no interest in or intention to teach art in a public K-12 setting after graduation. I think it’s such important work and I respect it so much, but I simply do not think I am cut out for it. I’m way too deep into my degree to switch majors now so that’s not an option unfortunately. I do love the idea of teaching art, but the school systems just do not seem to make the effort worth it.
I also will need a way to financially support myself while I am student teaching. The professors at my school heavily discourage working another job while student teaching but like… I have to eat & pay rent so that’s not realistic for me whatsoever.
I’m considering teaching private children’s art lessons on weekends while I am student teaching, and if I like it enough and it ends up being decently successful, I may continue after I graduate. I have a few questions for getting started on something like this.

We're just elected a new government, and there are so many valid and invalid criticisms for it, as it should be in a democracy. We, as a country, have our highs & lows, but India/Bharat is indeed our country.
Now, recently I visited our beautiful Andaman & Nicobar Islands. I visited the Kala Paani Jail too, and attended their SOUL STIRRING light & sound show, which talked about the valour of the brave freedom fighters who went there. They were probably made of steel, those men. They believed in the idea of our nation so fiercely that they were proud to die trying to build it. If I'm not mistaken, our freedom fighters who were hanged to death in the jail never received a proper burial/cremation. Their bodies were simply discarded into the sea. That made me realise, yet again, the price of our freedom and the sacrifices made for it. It taught me how foreign forces latched onto us, abusing our lands & people; and how tough it was to send them away, how tough it is to free a nation. It made me think about what it takes to actually build a nation, especially one like ours after 1947.
On my way back, I had a stop in Delhi, where I visited the newly made Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya. Now, we all have our opinions/leanings about the leaders & ministers, but I'm talking about the people of the nation here. The museum has many video displays, but one particular clip stuck with me more than anything else. It's from when the government was taking donations from the people to build its National Defence Fund, around 1962 I think. It shows a young, simple-looking, saree clad north Indian woman giving her jewellery as donation to the fund. Think about it, would you & I do that today? Obviously the circumstances have changed, we're not a new-born nation anymore, context is different. But I wonder if we have that sense of building a nation in us. Looking at that clip made me think about how the common men from that era contributed whatever they could to build this nation. उन में एक जज़्बा था देश खड़ा करने का (Translated: They had a passion to build their nation)
I mean look at this picture from ISRO guys. You had to believe in it to do it.
We're still in a time where we have people who experienced the freedom struggle, the partition and the first decades of the nation. Many of us have parents or grandparents who've passed down their tales of that era to us. If anything, I really want the generations ahead to keep a sense of that alive. I want them to know the blood in which our independence was inked. I hope we, as a country, are able to do justice to those who lived, struggled or died for it.

If we request a one-time wire transfer from SBI to our US bank, the amounts would be around $83,000 from my account and $41,500 from my wife’s account.
