China Trip Report: March 2024 [Suzhou Amusement Land Forest World, Joyland, China Dinosaurs Park, Happy Valley, Etc.]

During the end of March/ early April my gf and I went on a 3 week coaster trip throughout China, Japan, and South Korea. I wanted to make this report about China since it's pretty difficult to plan a trip to China with the lack of information available.
Planning started last year in September and we used coast2coaster to map out our trip, then we tried to find any information about the parks we picked which ended up not being much. The Coaster Kings had some great blog posts, and we found a couple YouTube videos from ATLsloan which ended up being super helpful.
I also digged through reddit and reached out to some very helpful Redditors that gave me advice! Thanks u/MrBrightside711 and u/Noxegon

The Hong Kong portion of our China trip was super simple. Uber existed and there are no internet complications. I do recommend getting an octopus card and loading it with money, you are able to put it directly on your iphone and you will use it for trains, taxis, checking out of stores, it was even accepted in Disney!

Hong Kong Disneyland:

We flew into Hong Kong from Osaka and landed about 2am. We got a hotel right in the airport, and woke up at 8am to uber over to Disneyland, check into our hotel at the explorers lodge, and rope drop at 10:30am. After getting to the park we realized rope drop wasn't needed.. this park was DEAD. We went right to Mystic Manor and was one of 6 people in the pre-show section. (amazing ride but not a coaster)
Then we went over to Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars. This instantly became my favorite Disney rollercoaster. (at this point we had been to all Disney parks except Shanghai, which only has clones) The fakeout lift, and the launch section were great.
The new Frozen area of the park really was beautiful, and made the visit that much more worth it. Their version of Frozen ever after is a bit more modern, but much the same of the Orlando version. Wandering Oaken's Sliding Sleighs is great to look at, but not that great to ride. It's very short and probably great as a child's first coaster.
Not much to say about RC & Hyperspace Mountain. If you have ridden any of their counter parts, you have already experienced these as well.

Ocean Park

This park has 2 areas, the lower entrance area which has a ton of shops, smaller rides, and a aquarium. The upper area on top of the mountain which required a chairlift ride up is home to the larger thrill rides. While the bottom portion still seems fine, the upper portion has about half of it closed including the 2 SBNO coasters still sitting there.
However, their 2 operating coasters were both open. Hair Raiser was a great B&M, and the setting and usage of the terrain only amplifies it. Arctic Blast isn't much to write home about, but it was enjoyable and they sent us around the track multiple times.

Mainland China

Once you hit mainland China everything becomes so much more difficult. Thankfully we did plenty of research in advance and downloaded DiDi (taxi app) WeChat, and Alipay (Payment apps) You also need to verify yourself with your passport in these apps DO IT BEFORE you get to China unless you want problems. The language barrier exists much more here than any other country I have visited, Google Translate was needed for EVERY conversation. If you are planning a trip here make sure you download the Chinese Simplified translations in google translate incase your internet gets spotty (it will.)
Call your cell provider to ensure you will have working service in China, it prevents the need for a VPN while out and about.. however still download a VPN for when you are on wifi as the great chinese firewall blocks EVERYTHING. We used LetsVPN and it worked amazingly the whole time in the mainland.
Most places will not want to take your cash. Before you leave make sure that you have a credit card added to both alipay and wechat. There is still a chance your apps wont work! Your hotel can take cash and send you the money on either alipay or wechat. When taking a taxi if your DiDi app isnt working, there is a mini DiDi app in alipay that works as well!

Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park

This park is where all my fears about my trip came true immediately. When you go to parks in China there is absolutely no way to know if coasters will be open or closed, even if you can find a website with posting they are probably not accurate.
We landed in Shanghai at 10:30 am and immediately got a taxi to drop our bags off at the hotel, and they waited for us to take us to Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park. As we arrived we saw Steel Dolphin cycling and I thought to myself how great it was that we would be starting this portion off strong. As we got to the steel dolphin entrance it was blocked off with an employee explaining via google translate that the ride failed a inspection earlier in the month and they were only testing to regain its certification. I asked if there would open anytime in the next week, they said no. We then went over to Family Coaster which was CLOSED. We then decided we would try to salvage the day and ride a couple other rides.. we couldn't find a single one that was open.
Our taxi driver was still outside when we left 30 minutes after he dropped us off and he asked why we were leaving so early. We explained the situation and he took us to guest services and complained for us without us asking for that. They offered us the ability to view a sea lion show which took place in 2 hours which we declined. I highly recommend skipping this park, it was a MESS.

Oriental Pearl Tower

Immediately upon the horrors of the last park, our taxi driver took us over to The Bund. While we were exploring there we figured out there was a coaster in the Pearl Tower so we headed on over. To get to the coaster you have to go to the top of the tower first, which is similar to every other observation tower experience in the world. Very nice views of the city though.
VR Rollercoaster is a junior coaster which probably isn't worth going out of your way for, but it may of been my favorite VR coaster I have done as it didn't make me sick!

Suzhou Amusement Land Forest World

On this day we attempted (and succeeded) to visit 3 theme parks in one day. There were too many parks in the Shanghai area I didn't want to miss so we had to hustle all day. For this to work I hired a private Taxi Driver to follow us all day and wait on us at the parks so we didn't have to figure out how to maneuver from park to park.
When we arrived at Suzhou Amusement Land Forest World we were met with another DISASTER.. the sign in front of the park showed that my #1 bucket list China coaster Beyond The Cloud would be closed. Hopeful we still bought tickets and entered the park because we saw the tilt coaster testing.
We ran immediately over to Broken Rail Roller Coaster and got front row on the first train of the day. This was my first Tilt Coaster and man was it awesome! Jinma rides while they may be a copycat company they did a great job on this. It was smooth, thrilling, and could compare to any other big coaster company creation.
While walking over to Beyond the Cloud, we found Roller Coaster a coaster which wasn't on coaster count or RCDB! It was a kids ride but we had to ride it since it was undocumented! Its a Jinma kiddie coaster and could compare to the junior Vekomas you can find in many places in the USA. We also got the ride published on RCDB! We skipped the spinning mouse because we couldn't find it and we were in a rush to get to our next park.
When we did arrive at Beyond the Cloud we were met with another heartbreak as it has a sign explaining it was closed for the day. I was pissed and desperate to ride this coaster so I didn't give up. The day we flew out we woke up at 7 am and risked missing our flight for another shot at riding. When we got there it was drizzling and every ride was closed.. except Beyond the Cloud! I believe we were the only 2 people in the park this 2nd go around and were able to ride 5 times by ourselves before we moved on and headed to the airport. They made us wait 5 mins each ride to see if other riders would show up (they didn't.) It was 100% worth the effort, this was my favorite coaster in China, and my #2 Mack overall behind RtH.

Joyland

After about a hour 1/2 in Suzhou Forest we got back to our taxi and darted for Joyland! Upon arrival we went through the knockoff Dr Seuss area on our way to Starry Sky Ripper my #1 bucket list flyer behind flying dino which we rode a few days prior. I think Sky Ripper edges out my top B&M flyer just over Flying dino. Its smooth, thrilling and most importantly it doesn't have the immense pain pretzel loops bring me.
To our surprise all of the coasters here were open! We ended up going to Dragon Roaring Heaven next. There was a school trip and they all seemed to be waiting to just ride this ride, so it took about 30 minutes to get on. This mine train coaster was decent, and is comparable to some of the great mine trains in the USA, but the theming here makes it a slight step above the rest.
Next was Clouds of Fairyland which seemed to be in a state of despair. The front car of the train was closed, and they had these makeshift restraints behind your head that they made you hold for the duration of the ride which was uncomfortable. The ride itself was okay, I'd like to ride another one that doesn't have the weird behind the head nonsense.

China Dinosaurs Park

We got to China Dinosaurs Park around 3pm the park closed at 5pm, and stopped letting guests in at 4. We jogged straight to Dinoconda to ensure we got a ride in, and to our surprise it was a WALK ON! As with the other 4d coasters it was very intense, but it was the smoothest by far. I would put it behind Eej as you can't beat that intensity.
Next we went in circles trying to find Dinosaur Mountain it took us about 20-30 mins to actually find it hidden in the mountain side but it was a cool indoor Zamperla motocoaster. The theming was cheesy but it was all still great fun.
Super Roller Coaster went down and stayed closed until park closure.

Shanghai Disneyland

This is a great Disney park! Pirates and Zootopia made this visit worth it alone. The Pirates here is the best version of the ride, and I'm glad i went in blind. I wasn't expecting what I experienced at all. The zootopia area was really well done and I hope we get some version of it in the US.
All 3 coasters here are clones of coasters I've ridden at other Disney Parks so I'm not going to go into detail about them. They are great, ride them if you get the chance.

Happy Valley Shanghai

Unfortunately when we woke up we realized the forecast was rainy and had high winds but we decided to attempt to go get some credits anyway. We knew that it would probably not work out but yolo.
We were greeted with 4 out of 7 coasters closed including Diving Coaster, Mine Train, Wooden Coaster, and Coastal Ant.
We headed straight for Mega-Lite which was good fun, we had ridden its clone Piraten in Denmark back in June of 2023 so we knew what to expect. Still a enjoyable small coaster that packs a punch. Truly is a mini I-305
Next was Crazy Elves which is your basic spinning mouse. Then we got a ride on Family Inverted Coaster which wasn't anything crazy but was fun and will be perfect in BGT as a step-up coaster.

Universal Studios Beijing

After a hectic morning in Shanghai trying to get a ride on Beyond the Cloud we flew to Beijing! We got there late at night and checked into our hotel right outside Universal.
We bought the "Set of all Express Passes" which was good for all the major rides. This ended up being worth it is the park got more and more crowded as the day went on. Upon entering the park we heard an announcement that all rides are open but there is inclement weather which may close outdoor attractions so we headed right to Decepticoaster. Decepticoaster is everything the Hulk retracking should of been. The coaster is glass smooth, the jank is gone, and made for a much better ride experience. Personally, I love Hulk as its at one of my home parks here in Orlando but I find myself riding it less and less due to how I feel after riding.. I didn't have this issue here.
Next we took a wrong turn trying to get to the Jurassic area and ended up going through Kung Fu Panda's area which was really cool, and its boat ride was worth riding once. This path put us in a circle which had us ending up in Harry Potter land so the next coaster was Flight of Hippogriff. This was the same as all its counter parts, nothing special here. We skipped the other rides in this land as we have been to every other universal park (other than Singapore) and didn't need to experience them again.
We finally found the Jurassic area and got on Jurassic Flyers which was not what I expected. I was assuming it would be interactive similar to Arthur at Europa Park, it wasn't. Just did a loop around the mountain and got some great views. While in the area we did arguably the best dark ride in the world Jurassic World Adventure. That ride is INSANE.. nothing we have in the US compares to it.
On our way out we hit Loop-Dee-Doop-Dee which I believe is the only Jinma at a major park? It's a basic family coaster, and worth the credit if you can get on with no line.

Happy Valley Beijing

The last park of our trip before we spent our last few days sightseeing! We arrived at opening to a very large crowd (the biggest of the trip.) All of coasters had staggered openings so we tried to strategically plan it out to be at the opening of each one.. which didn't work out at all. Extreme Rusher was closed all day and has been closed for a while due to its sister coaster rolling back and crashing into another train in the station.
We headed to Crystal Wing first for its 10:30 opening. We weren't the only ones with this idea as there was already a decent line formed. We waited bout 30 mins to get on missing the 11am opening for our next coaster. This is a clone of Superman but with some really cool terrain and theming. Worth the ride.
Golden Wings over the Snowfield was stop #2. I'm not a fan of SLC's but this didn't ride like one. It wasn't smooth, but it wasn't painful either. It also has a different layout from the SLC's all over the US which was cool.
Next we went over to Flight of the Himalayan Eagle Music Roller Coaster which had a 11:30am scheduled opening which we missed by 30 mins. The line took about a hour, and we noticed there was a fastpass system that we couldn't figure out because of the language barrier. I used google translate on the signs at the entrance to no luck. The ride is a great mini hyper coaster that blasts music as you ride. Easily the best coaster in the park.
We walked past Family Inverted Coaster which had a hour+ wait which we didn't want to wait for as we just rode the clone the other day with no line. So we headed over to Jungle Racing which had a 45 min wait but we noticed a QR code next to the line which we scanned and ended up being the fast pass system! We bought a fast pass and walked right on. It was a great Mine Train that was very similar to the one in Joyland.
We then bought 2 fastpasses to Family Inverted Coaster just to get the credit.
This park felt a lot more taken care of than its counterpart in Shanghai, and is definitely worth a visit.

The end

We took a couple days to visit all the big sites like the great wall of china, the forbidden city, the temple of heaven, etc. which is a must-do.
Then we flew over to South Korea for our next portion of our mega coaster trip!

Hey all. I hope everyone is safe and sound with their loved ones in this crazy world.
I've been lurking the subreddit for a time now and all i see is repetetive complaints about the game. Couple memes here and there, maybe a cool or mediocre play that made the playing guy excited but other than that it was all "cheaters ohoooo, matchmaking ohoooo, lon ammo is op ohhooo, shotguns are unjust" etc. It was last couple days that people making noises for the good of this game. So i thought i might share my hunt experience with all good and bads.
Well, i'm not saying this game is not making me rage time to time. 3 minutes loading + 5 mins of running just for getting a weird headshot is always frustrating and i think we all understand this or maybe spiraling a compound and getting pumped easy from a nonsense corner does the same, i think we are all in the same ship on this one. Lastly i know that while you're trying to take maybe 1 kill and extract in a 4* just to realise there were 2 teams full of 5-6* ~5k hours sweaty players, when u get a sparks pistol headshot from 130 mt is giving you existential crisis.
Here is my sanity checks about this topics
1- There is a reason ammo types are separated to types.
°Compact ammo is low damage but generally faster than any other types. Means if both parties shoot non stop with optimal aim, compact ammo would win a tight fight. Also you can spam it, means you have much more scans than a long ammo. °Shotgun ammo. Well, if you hear a shotgun and came close to it ~15 mt, with equally talented aims, you're gonna die, i'm sorry but that's how shotguns work (even in irl) °Long ammo looks the most advantageous but except mako and krag, they are fricking slow and their ammo is scarce. If you hear a mosin and if you try to bite each other from 80 mt, man... Its not the long ammo, close the fricking distance.
EVERY AMMO TYPE HAS A PLAY AGAINST IT.
2- Hunt mmr is like chess.
You killed a cowboy better than you? voilà! you get more points. You get killed by a cowboy worse than you? ehh, kudos to the underdog they landed a good shot and took a good bit of your mmr. Most of the time i'm very happy if i'm playing against better players. It forces me to learn angles, make rotations or use a strategic way to approach rather then brute aiming.
3- They are problably not cheating.
Sometimes you just land an insane shot, don't you? i meant the ones that make you go "oooiiii" in such a tight angle or vision. Are you trying to shoot from same angle 2 time with exact body movement? or are you sure that no body heard/saw you while rotating? hmm maybe we couldn't form a consensus of snipers are snipers for a reason and that's the scope advantage. Some folks watching you running 4k with an aim on your head. i played this game for 600 hours now, never seen one.
Idk if you realise but, hunt is problably the most unique fps game out there. The world design, bosses, gameplay loop, guns, atmosphere, sound desing, gunfights, even the ammo system you are complaining about... Do we have anything like this in fps genre? Every major fps game has its own clone but not hunt and that's for a reason.
I guess most of the complaints are coming from people that wants to warp reality's terms rather than copping with it. it's rather a fundamental approach problem than the game's lack of something and it's not a stance of 'git gud'. It's a way of saying "Stop complaining we are in a fight, do your job with what you have"
Also... HUNT IS A ROGULIKE GAME until you reach a point that you feel very comfortable about swinging your gun. So get used to die in most absurd ways you could imagine. Re roll a hunter, get some perks and try to beat the dungeon again.
TLDR: Hunt is one of a kind. It's an incredible game if you come to accept it's own reality. Everything has an answer against it. Change the way you approach things, not just hunt. You can't bite while you are talking and you should take a huge chunk out of enemies, so it's better for you to stop complaining and think 'hmm what can i do to this problem'. They are problably not cheating and hunt is a rogue like until you have the self esteem of a cowboy.

So I have a modpack with 80ish mods one of them or a combination of them have completely bugged indoor monster spawns. I've seen more Coilheads in the last months then I have seen loot bugs, slimes or Brackens. Thumpers, Spiders, and Coilheads are the only few things I've seen for months, not to mention Eyeless Dogs are glitched and constantly lunging for no reason. I've looked in the code thing that launches before modded Lethal actually launches and I can't find what's causing the bugged dogs or monster spawns. And I've also seen mods in the code lines that I haven't had for months as well, so I would also like to know if there's a way to get those to stop appearing to declutter the code stuff. Alright, so for a long time now my modpack has been mixed when it comes to playing with no glitches and game breaking bugs, and just recently most monsters have stopped spawning except for occasional insanely rare encounters with a Bracken or a seemingly increased spawn rate of the coilheads on Offense, which I know is where they are most common but I still thought I should mention it, other than the coilheads the only thing I've seen in the game for a long time is maskeds, thumpers, and bunker spiders, I think I might've fixed it by removing LCSoundTool and SnatchinBracken but I've also heard LethalLib causes the problems, although it does seem outside spawn rates are the same because we'll still get jumped by dogs, hawks, and giants. Dogs also seem to be glitched because they get stuck and once they get unstuck their lunge animation is either frozen or looping. So anyways here's my modpack: 018f7bdf-7ff1-20be-789c-760eced8ab12
Once I get home and have some freetime I'll be running some tests as well seeing what works and what doesn't in the code thing of modded Lethal.

2024.05.14 00:47 wonkyOnion Before you buy a bundle double check it's content/motorbike bundle review

The primary purpose of X4 for me was mounting it on my motorbike as a 'dash cam'. I couldn't really find any yt reviews of motorbike bundle, but I think it was only natural to buy it in my case. Before I bought it I quickly scanned the contents of said bundle, however didn't put much attention what's there and oh boi, how furious I was when it actually arrived. So what I actually got:

Invisible stick. Sounds good, but at the time I was buying the camera that stick was included even without the bundle, so I guess I didn't really get it with the bundle, it just comes with camera.
Motorbike clamp. This is the only item I'm happy with. It's all made out of metal and holds well to the handle bar even on triple digit speeds.
This is when fun starts. I got some rubber condom that I can put over the camera when I'm not using it as the thing completely covers the lenses. I was more than sure I'll get the new lense protectors not some piece of rubber. You know, I bought motorbike bundle. I think it's only common sense to include something that will protect my camera while riding, not when it is in my pocket. I hope I won't offend anyone, but who the fuck needs it to begin with? I literally can't think of any valid scenario when would you want to put it on your camera especially that you are getting...
The case. When I opened this one I literally felt like insta360 came to my house, put dick in my mouth, cum on my face, cleaned their dick on my t-shirt and told me that I'm free to leave. The case that I've got with my motorbike bundle can store the camera (so far so good) with the black condom on (is anyone really putting the rubber on camera, then put it in the case, then in protected backpack and then jumping into that inflatable ball allowing you to roll without hurting yourself?). Second pocket is dedicated for the stick, just not the one I got with the bundle! It's for some shorter and thicker version of it! Really!? Fortunately it gets even better, because there is 3rd hole and that hole is for... Fast charger for 3 batteries that I also didn't get in my motorbike bundle!!! What the actual fuck!? Who decided it's a great thing to include the case with a bundle that (except camera) has no items that can fit in said case!? What a marketing genius was it!?

To summarise, I spent extra £100 on a bundle that includes one useful item that you can buy separately on insta360 website for £40!
Update: I just went on insta360 website to check how much the clamp on its own is and had a look at that motorbike bundle once again and saw that I actually should get the protectors as well, so they simply didn't send me them! Tomorrow I gonna message them about this and we will see what they gonna say as I did buy the camera good 3-4 weeks ago...

There’s been a bit of discussion among Toronto Bike Sharerers this week so just wanted to share some personal experience as someone who splits time between Toronto and Montreal. As many users already know, a new app dropped recently and I’ve found it to be a nice improvement. Interesting tidbit about this is that it looks to have been developed by Lyft, same people that did the Bixi app in Montreal. Montreal biking isn’t perfect, but it’s certainly a lot, lot better than it is here in Toronto. The cycle track network, number of docks, proximity between, proportion of e-bikes, redistribution, pricing…all great here. There are even docks around Longueuil and Laval which are cities off the main island of Montreal! There are obviously problems here too like docking hotspots during rush hour but depending on where you are, you’re often times no more than 100m from another dock…and there’s valet service at hotter spots. The takeaway from this (at least for me) is that Toronto is trending towards the right direction just from this app alone because it seems they’re looking at what others are doing. If they’re modelling themselves after Montreal then I think we will be good. This and the fact that cycle tracks continue to be added (Dufferin looks to be one of the next major routes). It’s still a quite a ways away but we are getting there!

Renaissance was the 9th Solana Foundation hackathon, bringing together founders and developers from 95+ countries to build products spanning Infrastructure, Gaming, DePIN, DAOs, DeFi, and a long-tail of Consumer Applications.
More than 8,300 participants from 95 countries teamed up to submit 1,071 final projects to the judges, making Renaissance the largest online Solana hackathon to date. Disclaimer: I am not a CPA or attorney. I got this from an accountant that works with a relative. After I scanned in my drivers license, it took me about 10 minutes to file.
Basically if you have an active business that is registered with a state (LLC or incorporation or any entity that was registered with your state in the USA) then you have toe report your business this year 1/24-12/24. If not, there is penalty of up to $500/day after the reporting period.
"In 2022, the Department of Treasury's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) issued new regulations related to the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA). As a result, new compliance measures surrounding Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) are in effect as of this year. Both Domestic and Foreign reporting companies will be required to report their BOI to FinCEN."

Firstly we now understand what could be a Gitae's fighting style. He imitates (not copying, just imitation) enemy's some attacks in order to mock them like "look I do better" and his strenght allows him such insolence. And also he wields AN AXE which makes me think that he was the one who chopped Tom's hand (didn't help since Gitae is in Mexico and Tom is The Ultimate King of South Korea). I can actually make a post how did Tom become The Ultimate King.
Secondly, (I'm sorry there's no frames, I dowload scans not from voidscans and making screenshots for me also problematic due to "copyright defence" ob my phone), Seongji looks like a guy who's very aware of a lot of things and he really cares about his family. Hi shanghai,
Just went to SH (mostly travelling alone) last month (with trip being my first trip to China since 2006) and thought i'll share some thoughts and impressions of the city, and the country in general along with some photos I've taken.
Feel free to jst enjoy the photos if TLDR
The Bund
Pudong skyline
Firstly, its my second time in SH as I've visited when I was really young with family, but I am not a mandarin speaker despite being Chinese as I speak Cantonese at home in Aus, so my experiences with China is generally concentrated around Hong Kong and canton areas of China.
Arrival:
Landing at the Pudong International Airport on a weeknight was a pretty smooth and drama-less affair (except for some cabin crew from an unknown European/middle eastern airline having an argument with security/police about going through immigration). Got my fingerprints scanned, took my photos and immigration officer asked me where I was born and I was on my way out to collect my baggage. After collecting my suitcase which was already there when i arrived as PVG was not busy at all, I went through the first of what is to be many security checks with X-ray machines/metal detectors and I was free to do as I please in China. After being finally freed, I followed the signs directing me towards the metro, opened up Alipay on my phone and the metro QR code i setup in advance, tapped on and jumped on the train towards my hotel at the Bund.
The Bund
Total travel time PVG to the Nanjing Road East station on line 2 was under an hourish which was a bit long and boring, but only totalled 4RMB which was a bloody bargain considering anytime you take the train to an airport in Australia, even if it was a 2 stop affair it would cost you a whopping $20AUD+. Also a lot better than my experiences of landing at JFK and finding out there isn't a direct metro connection to Manhattan and I had to take a sketchy train to Jamaica Queens at night with only a few other passengers for a connection.
Crowds at The Bund
As others have said in this sub and other china focused subs like chinalife, I can't stress how important it is to do your research and setup everything in advance before travelling to China. But once you do, it really is super easy and convenient instead of having to deal with cash and buying physical tickets all day for the metro.
For VPN i used LetsVPN which was wayyyy cheaper than Astrill which was what everyone suggests on Reddit and I had no issues with reliability whatsoever over the 2 weeks.
Eating out and paying for shit and language:
MAP terrace
BIG boat, little people
After checking into my hotel and unpacking, it was time to finally embark on my first challenge. Finding a place to eat and figuring how to pay or order in 2024 China vs 2006 China lol. Being a tourist first place I hit up was Nanjing Road East and even for a tourist hotspot there was no shortage of cheap good food at 9.00PM on a weekday. I walked west on Nanjing road for a bit and found a side street with many Chinese restaurants. Found a little humble dumpling shop and ordered in my terrible mandarin a plate of pork and chive dumplings for 15rmb. The dumplings (normal jiao zi, not XLB) were really gud full of juices inside and the pickled vegs and chilli sauce they offered on the side was some next level shit. Its been over 10 years since visiting China but its good to see even in an expensive city like SH, there are still cheap and affordable meals relatively speaking.
MAP terrace
If your mandarin no gud, figuring out how to pay maybe a bit tricky as many smaller businesses you have to ask them how much the bill is and you enter the quoted amount directly yourself and send the payment yourself on the phone. But I would say most businesses you can simply scan your QR code or let them scan yours on Alipay allowing a more straightforward experience for the laowais.
Pudong
People often tout Shanghai as an international city, drawing comparisons with HK for obvious reasons but whilst you can get by with English quiet easily in HK, I would say the level of English proficiency amongst service staffs and hospitality workers (who are the people you are probably dealing with 90% of the time) who aren't working at KFC, Five Guys or McDonalds on NJ Road is probably just a bit better than Japan (which isnt very much lol). Most restaurant menus and apps are also only in Chinese so even if you could speak a bit of Mandarin like me but cant read, you might struggle to order food and such.
MAP
Alipay (which is where you will likely order and pay for food 90% of the time) has an inapp translator but the translation isn't exactly helpful for the uninitiated. There were many times where I asked staff if i could get a menu in mandarin only for them to point at the Chinese only menu where i then proceed to flub my way through ordering something without embarrassing myself and revealing that I can't read Chinese.
Even at a super busy bubble tea shop at Xintiandi (a relatively affluent upmarket area with lots of westerner tourist/expats roaming around) I've had a case where I decided to try ordering something in English and the chap at the counter decides to start tapping away at his phone for 20 seconds to show me him translating Chinese into English to tell me to order by scanning the QR code which was unfortunately on WeChat and in Chinese only.
Another example is trying to order coffees in cafes (chain or not). After trying to just straight up say "iced latte" 2-3x and realising the café staff didn't know wtf i wanted, i just decided to learn the Chinese name which was bing na tie 冰拿铁 and say that instead lol.

But i guess im somewhat blessed with limited mandarin cause on one of my nights having dinner, there were two American lads who decided to try the restaurant I was at and they really had no idea what they were doing, so i had to help them translate with the waiter. Even with a translation app the yanks could only figure out things like "duck" but not realising its a noodle dish and you choose the type of meat as a side and the young female waiter was trying to communicate this albeit unsuccessfully. After some back and forth helping them translate one of them ordered the mi xian with duck on the side and the other guy ordered a mi xian without the meat as he was vegetarian but I wasn't sure if the broth was not made from meat lol but I didn't want to further complicate things and let it be lol. A really nice thing was one of the American chaps remarking to his mate that "she [the waiter] was really patient", cause boi if he took so long to order in a Hong Kong dinecha charn teng he gonna get some attitude. Which brings me to my next topic,
Somewhere
The People:
Coming back to China after almost 20 years and apart from all the high tech shit one of the big changes has been the people. 2 weeks in SH and NJ and I didn't see any public arguments, pissing on the metro or other standout eyebrow raising behaviour. Shanghai is also full of educated young people so that probably helps too who are a far cry from my mum's generation who grew up during the Cultural Revolution and Great Leap Forward lol.
Even though I know Chinese mainlander people were generally pretty warm and friendly albeit sometimes unrefined and blunt, I was still kinda surprised because i'm kinda used to the rudeness of Cantonese/Hong Kongers which is often almost a point of pride for Hong Kongers. Like even in Australia people especially those from HK will point to it as an authentic experience if you eat at a Chinese restaurant with rude cantonese waitestaff lol who will throw a plate of food infront of you like they're feeding their dog or smthn . But honestly for a city that is as bustling and fast paced 996 culture as Shanghai I haven't had a single negative experience dealing with service staff or general public and found people to be generally very welcoming and friendly.
Jinan temple (couldn't bother paying to go inside)
Everywhere I went whether its Shanghai or Nanjing people were conversational, warm and open. One instance in Nanjing whilst visiting the famous Halal restaurant for breakfast, I sat down alone on a table shared with 3 other girls and the one lesbian girl who was sitting opposite of me immediately asked if I was travelling alone in Chinese to make make conversation with me. In general I just feel people when they say something in public in day to day encounters to you they have much more to say and always seem more open to conversations than other places I've visited such as HK, NYC, SF and Tokyo which are also all fast paced, busy massive metropolises.
The only "negative" thing i can really say which i observed were some of the government employees I've seen. On my trip i went to a few galleries, including the China Art Museum as well as the Museum of Art Pudong (MAP). The staff between the government managed China Art Museum and private MAP was night and day lol. Whilst the MAP staff were polite and professional as you expect from any serious art institution in a major global city, the staff at CAM was bit interesting. First thing i saw at the concierge was the customer service staff yelling at some domestic tourist to simply walk outside and they will see the toilet lol. The whole gallery seemed half dead with many sections unused and closed off and we were directed to an elevator to proceed to the last few exhibits. Inside the elevator there was a man simply there to press the buttons for us. Cool, but what was funny was he was sitting on his chair streaming Chinese drama on his phone with his speakers on the whole time whilst doing this job LOL.

One other thing I did notice whilst staying in Nanjing was the incidence of public spitting by older Chinese men was a lot more prevalent compared to SH. So yes, obviously super developed city vs other areas of china is different but just a funny observation.
The City:
Now on Shanghai itself.
Apart from the usual stuff like yup, clean (so many cleaners always cleaning), great public transport etc.
-Yup Bund Skyline is super impressive, much more impressive than Hong Kong's Victoria Harbour and the crowd and promenade running along the water just seem to extend forever.

The metro: does stop rather early compared to where I'm from where last train usually stops at 1am. but boi is Didi cheap so it don't really matter i guess.
Electric cars everywhere, especially Chinese cars. Australia is full Mazdas and Toyotas but i barely saw any in SH. And all the Chinese EVs are all futuristic high tech looking whilst the shit they send to Australia are junk like the MG and GWM utes lol (although it is getting better now, we do have the BYD Seal now in Aus).
Shanghai is also HUUGE, like yeah been NYC, been SF, HK, Tokyo but SH just feels huge? Probably most similar in feel to Tokyo but even with the great metro, I've walked so much lol and feels like there so much to still explore. Things also tend to be more spreadout as well but i guess the good thing is for such a massive and heavily populated city it isnt overwhelmingly crowded even though there are a lotttttt of ppl.
One thing I wish I did do was setup the app for sharebikes as it would've probably cut down on some of the walking and saved time. But it was nice to see a city where everyone just cycled and even though traffic is more chaotic than Australia, the massive cycling traffic seems to coexist fine with the motor vehicle traffic. Everywhere people just cycling without helmets on the cycleways. If there was this much cycling traffic in an Australian city dozens of cyclist would get injured/killed every week by angry drivers lol.

Security scanners everywhere, Ive quickly learnt to wear cargo pants as much as possible and travel light instead of carrying any sorta bag. Just nice to just walk straight through every security check on the metro or at museums or galleries. Along with this is ofc bao an/security guards everywhere. Really have to squint to figure out if they're bao an or police but 80% of the time they're bao an. Only really see heavy police presence at The Bund and Shanghai Train Station, outside of that I feel like they're non existent whilst in Australia police are pretty easy to find in every major shopping centre, train station or just out on patrol. Because of the similarity of their uniform, one can see why people outside China visiting might think the police are every contributing to China's police state/totalitarian state image. Yes, the heavy security presence is sorta annoying but honestly not that bad. In Australia every week you have police with sniffer dogs tryna catch a few junkies or teens with bita marijuana or whatever substance at train station gates. And also those god damn ticket inspectors...

Food:
Qibao
As everyone knows, good affordable food is great in China and you're never short of affordable but yummy options even in cities like SH. But some observationss.

Shakeshack one of my fav American fast-food places, whilst still exxy and upmarket is still cheaper in China than America lol.
I do miss Cantonese food (or what westerners generally think of when one mentions Chinese food). I know there are Cantonese restaurants in SH but you really have to go out of your way to find them.
Coffees and bakeries are surprisingly good. Yes it wont be as good as the best bakeries and cafes in Sydney/Melb but honestly I think good baked goods is generally more accessible and cheaper in Shanghai with lot of good chains having stores doing decent croissants and other pastries located near central locations/stations. Like Nanjing West station, there are probably a dozen bakeries doing decent pastries/bread around the place where you can simply grab a nice croissant on your way to somewhere. In comparison, Sydney/Melbourne, most places are tucked away in trendy neighbourhoods so its less of an everyday affair.

I also think its actually harder to find a bad coffee in Shanghai than Sydney as long as you don't go Starbucks. Whilst yes Shanghai especially near major commercial areas tend to be dominated by chains like % Arabica, Manner or M Stand until you reach the French Quarter or Xuhui, I find coffee and baristas to be generally quiet good and treat their work with respect and attention to detail. I went to Xuhui and tried two cafes there. One was a hole in the wall type affair and they made a great flat white that would meet the standards of any Australian coffee snob and ofc the beans they used were Industry Beans roasted from Melbourne lol.
After I stopped by at 1984 a (very cozy cafe) and I was the only customer there ordering an iced latte, and even though I was the only person there they spent like 15 minute making my Iced latte, grinding it with a hand grinder and honestly it was one of the best iced lattes I've had lol.
I think this is because coffee is generally a more trendy upmarket product in China. Firstly in comparison to Australia it is probably 10-20% more expensive and in comparison to other Chinese drinks/food really is quiet expensive, like even in SH 45RMB for an iced latte is a whole ass meal+drinks in most Chinese restaurants. Secondly coffee in Australia is also generally more democratic and accessible with even the local takeaway expected to have an espresso machine to make a brew so pretty much everywhere serves coffee and everyone drinks it whether its your finance bros or long haul truck drivers. So average or meh coffee is just everywhere in Australia especially the further you move away from the CBD or inner suburbs but even in the CBD itself there are probably many midaf cafes in office lobbies and the likes of and it really can depend on the barista whether a coffee turns out to your liking even though they use a bean you like.
Nightlife:
People have been saying nightlife, and clubbing etc is dead since COVID and all the westerners left. I don't doubt that the Chinese government's heavy handed zero COVID policy and delayed opening up has pushed many westerners out and many businesses went under but honestly I still had fun.All the small bars around Jinan were busy Thursday-Sunday with people sipping wine or cocktails on the street. INS where multiple clubs exist is pretty busy weekdays and packed Friday/Saturdays. And coming from Australia where drinking/clubbing is just super expensive, honestly SH is fkn great cause if you can literally spend nothing going out since some clubs offer free entry and few drinks vouchers on days like Wednesday/Thursdays. And if you did have to spend money, its still considerably cheaper and there's no one carding my ID which is nice.
Attractions/Highlights:

The Bund and the Pudong Skyline really is impressive. All the old colonial era buildings are just so impressive and they go on and on along with the crowds. SH > HK for sure if we are talking about waterfront skylines.
Museum of Art Pudong (MAP): the view from the terrace of this place is incredible. They also host some pretty good exhibitions and I got to see the Caravaggio and Surrealist exhibition whilst there. Its real questionable why Wikipedia doesn't even have an article for MAP and the article for Pudong makes no mention of this place. Yes it opened in 2021 but thats yearss, and this kinda shows how disengaged the west is in regards to China when a major gallery opens in SH and i can't even find a wiki article.- Shanghai museum: lots of cool cultural artefacts
Museum of Art Powerhouse: repurposed power station where you can walk inside the massive smoke chimney, way better than China Art Museum, with the biennale Cosmos Cinema exhibition on atm.
People's Park: the cats :D

Honestly I feel like there aren't really any "tourist traps" in SH except for maybe Yu Gardens which was packed with tourist on the weekends both domestic and international.
Even though I spent just over a week in SH, i wish i had more time to explore Xunhui and the French Concession area + People's Park area and few other districts.
Westerners/Tourists:
Arriving in SH there were definitely lot less English heard than I at first expected but over the weeks I've definitely seen/heard many Russians (for obvious reasons), and also many people from Europe visiting due to the visa free entry. I've also heard from locals that the foreigners are invading again so I don't doubt tourism/westerners will again come back to SH over the months. But there definitely appears to be a lack of English speaking tourists considering the size of SH and its history. But then again English speakers tend to bias towards cities like Singapore and HK, the latter which i think is rather overrated although still a place im rather fond of.
Leaving:
As others on Reddit have mentioned, PVG is preee dead. Theres not even a bloody Maccas instead only choice of like two overpriced noodle restaurants in T1. For a city famous for its food like XLB and with so much foood, its major international airport really does suck in this regard.

While we've seen the pace pick up a bit since the start of the year and I'm optimistic we'll see even more once the community recovers more from ongoing issues with the image platforms we use, the list is a major part of the community and having it locked out for half the year just isn't tenable.

The list will be open once every two months for 60 requests, starting next Sunday, April 7th at 8:00 AM PST.

This means the list will be opened six times per year guaranteed, regardless of how many requests are taken off the list. Some additional noteworthy information:

Request list openings will be made as posts directly made to the subreddit, which will be locked once the limit of new requests are completed.
- This means the current request and resources list hub will now be reserved exclusively for boosts to existing requests, extra requests, priorities, and resource submissions.
An additional, "bonus" list opening will follow the standard completed request system that is being done currently, so the list will open more often depending on how many requests are fulfilled.
- Extra requests will no longer affect the total required for this.

The next three month bounty will be Capes, which will be replacing Sci-Fi starting today.
The next one month bounty is Gambling. We're setting this up a little bit differently than previous bounties in that you can pick two options for how to receive points for it:
- Your request gambles. If the character whose request you've completed has played poker, bet on a horse race, and the like, you can get the standard bounty. This is the default choice, reach out to me directly if you want to do the below option.
- You gamble. I will record myself rolling a wheel with every bounty from the past year and a half. If your character doesn't hit the random bounty, tough luck. But if they do, you can roll again for two or more bounties for the price of one! Be warned, though, if you ever land on a bounty your character doesn't hit, you miss out on the entire pot.

May

The next three month bounty will be Enhanced Senses. If your character has a sense superior to that of a normal human (i.e. Wolverine's smell, Superman's x-ray vision, Daredevil's hearing), they hit the bounty. This can be one of the five main senses or some other esoteric sense unique to your character.
The next one month bounty remains unannounced.

Shoutouts

Ame-no-nobuko completed a thread for Grodd from the Arrowverse, who I had the pleasure of debating in GDT shortly after the thread was posted. After rigorous debate on all kinds of scans from the thread I can say for certain it's well put together, and the Obama scans definitely had me out of my seat laughing.
AllieCat53 rocketed onto the list by knocking out the Hazbin Hotel requests, as well as one of our longstanding Oldest 400 requests with Cidolfus Orlandeau, all of these being of impressive levels of quality and comprehensiveness. Cid in particular really stands out as a great example of incorporating every facet of a video game character from a game where it's generally though to list things out without starting to sound like a wiki.
I wouldn't feel comfortable not awarding Ridtom points for the Victoria Dallon request being taken off the list, as by and far most of the work done on it was his. Still can't sing enough praises for making that project possible.

There is an algorithm in the game designed to slow the main game down.
Not some timmy complaining here. 48 yo casual with nearly 5k hours of EOD and an alpha armband. Just under 6 years of gameplay.
And I am convinced that the loading section of the game is mathematically working out how to fuck us over regarding tasks/ spawns/ loot items.
You know, the whole "preparing map/ selecting players/ loading loot." Part.
It's selecting who and what to put on the map, and I'm sure it takes your stats, quests and loot into account when it does this, along with every other player, and it causes conflicts whether by design or accident.
And it doesn't work on no lifers or people who play it for a "job" ( streamers/ content creators or other walking, talking advertisers of the game) because they simply "brute force" the percentages by sheer volume of raids per day.
We've all been there, need a gas analyser, none to be found in 50 miles. Got the tape key, people on here telling of every random med bag ledx spawn they've found EXCEPT for Sannies office.
My case this time, Both of the "kill scavs on customs" tasks (prapor and therapist) have come up within the last 4 hours of me playing.
When I was doing the previous customs quests I was wading through scavs, literal scav armies at dorms and bus station etc. People were complaining about the lack of boss spawns.
In the last 4 hours I have been literally running round voiping at random players on empty customs maps.
"dont shoot, got a scav killing task" To be met with replies of "There's none where we spawned/ this side of the map/ in crackhouse " etc.
and I have asked other players
"Have you seen any scavs?" Is sniper scav up? More than half of time I got replies (about 5 or 6 raids) it's been no, no scans, no rooftop snipers, no nothing.
It's been refreshing to actually have friendly(ish) conversations with other players.
But that's the point.... We have had these convos out in the open in the middle of new gas, crackhouse etc.
Not a shot fired against us.
In 12-14 customs raids I have only heard the "bonfire bois" going off twice.
And I have encountered rashala 4 times and the goons twice.
A nearly 50% boss spawn ratio on otherwise empty maps.
Because no one (I've started asking),has eitherof them for a task.
I'm thinking if 2 or more players have a "kill x scans on y" task in a raid, it must somehow "wipe out" first wave scav spawns, just like when everyone at wipe is going for that 1 gas analyser on the whole map.
And it seems like if there's no scavs, the chances of boss/ goon spawns increases to balance it out ???
Is it just me? Is my account somehow "tagged and cursed" because of the 4 cheaters I've identified this wipe ?
Nikita, or someone on here... pls answer.

My code. This should be a scheduler which will run scrapers regularly and later it will send me an email with data. I plan to use it when I create more scrapers because I am a lot into second-hand books and it is useful to get all in one instead of scanning it with my own hands & eyes like I used to do.
But in the same time I plan to use this project alongside resume to show my current abilities and stuff. I know the code is messy and a lot of stuff is still missing, but I am glad it works as expected and to debug everything I need to have at least working version to get errors and mistakes.
I am proud that I have a project and I got that far from nothing just by myself.

The thumbnail showed Erik scowling and side-eyeing Colleen while she side-eyed back with an "oops!" expression on her face. Once the video started, they're in Erik's cluttery room with too many guitars and the two puppets of them hanging from an upper shelf (their new engagement trick). The Erik one was hanging onto the top shelf by one hand while grabbing the ankle of the upside-down Colleen puppet with the other hand. Erik looked like an absolute slob, wearing workboot-type tan shoes (I thought Colleen said, "No shoes in the house", lol...back to add...they later argued about this...his tan shoes are supposedly his house slippers but she was mad because he ALSO wears them outside), striped crew socks, paint-splattered cargo camou pants, a t-shirt that may have once been black and super messy hair. But hey, he's in his leather throne with his equally-disheveled queen sitting criss-cross applesauce on an ottoman at his feet like a loyal, lovey wifey/girley, lol
Colleen wasted little time introducing Carrot (aka Erik) and jumped right in with her "relax". It was technology because their camera had failed to record the first time they were recording so they had to rerecord ~half an episode. Erik tried to act like "positive Polly" (what Colleen called him when she outted for changing his tune about their camera failure). Erik admitted that he actually does get mad at technology and said he once threw a laptop out of a 3rd story balcony (he claimed he could see that no people were around). Tech talk and complaining went on for way too long and then Erik told a story about when he checked out at Target behind a man who refused to allow his driver's license to be scanned to buy alcohol (store policy for all) because he was convinced the store would harvest his data. The cashier then actually dared to speak to Erik (Erik said he usually uses self-checkout so he doesn't have to have human interaction) about the customer which led to a recommendation that we should all avoid self-checkout and instead, talk to a cashier because it will make us think (huh?)
The two then tried to act SYMPATHETIC to the younger generation and how technology is so prominent in their lives (yet, these knuckleheads OVERSHARE their kids online almost DAILY). Colleen then bragged about how their beachcombing timekiller trip kept their phones out of their hands for the entire days that they were lollygagging on beaches when they left their kids behind.
Colleen suddenly remembered something she HAD to share and apologized for changing subjects so quickly because of "my brain being strange, maybe", to which Erik replied, "I think you have a beautiful mind and I love it...what's it doing now?"🙄 Colleen then went on about something she learned about her favorite subject...herself. She heard a girl (on TikTok, ofc) say that neurodivergent people think about lists of tasks in a vertical fashion. Normal people think of them horizontally. (Erik thought they had this conversation before, lol) Erik said he was not "mapping" up or down in his brain and didn't know what she was talking about. She said she thinks of all of her tasks at the same time (like a graffiti wall, I guess?), so she's different than the others. She didn't get the reaction she thought she'd get from Erik (he asked, "Are you okay?"), so she moved to reading comments from under last week's podcast.
She read comments from those who ALSO never wear sunglasses (she wasn't as unique as she thought, lol) and decided that because her eyes are dark brown, her eyes aren't as affected by the sun, based off some other commenter's remark. When Erik pushed back, she doubled down, saying her not wearing sunglasses is a "sensory issues" (she really has forgotten that she used to wear fake eyeglasses for looks, lol)
Erik was ready to make Colleen look stupid (his favorite podcast game), so he got up from his leather He-Man chair to grab sunglasses that he owns to make her wear them. The first pair of sunglasses she tried on, he said he bought them because they reminded him of Robert DeNiro in "Casino." Erik kicked into high gear with his button-pushing, which caused Colleen to declare that this was a "horrendous experience!" She then was convinced the sunglasses were too dark to be legal (like tinted windows in a car).
The second pair of aunglasses were one he bought as his treat to himself for getting the "Haters Back Off" job as Patrick. (Colleen was getting ticked off after saying she doesn't CARE that he wants her to wear sunscreens) His next pair were his "Robert Downey Jr On The Red Carpet" sunglasses. (Erik's description, not mine).
Then Erik asked about watches; would she wear those? (how does he not know that?) She said she wears no accessories and also has no wallet. Erik exclaimed that she has none of the main things to check for before going out, "testicles, spectacles, wallet and watch"...none apply to her and if she could, she'd go shoeless which horrified him. (insert bickering about house shoes)
Erik then used a snarky tone and looked off to a picture on the wall of Colleen in "Waitress" and pointed out that she was wearing a watch and sunglasses (thinking he had a real "gotcha"). She got defensive and said she was in character basically, so she was able to do it. More bickering ensued as Erik tried to convince her of the importance of various accessories but she said she doesn't care about accessories, she isnt a "fashionista", isn't trying to impress...and then she ACTUALLY SAID that she would start wearing them if it made him happy (and she was serious🤯). On and on, Colleen, who hates tech, spoke about how she only needs her phone.
Erik changed the subject to her pickle crew neck and asked which pickle was the best one. When she got suspicious of why he was suddenly interested in pickles, he turned it back to "being open-minded" like she could try being about wearing sunglasses (is Erik missing his ex-gf who atill wears lots of cool sunglasses?), which set her off on defending her right to not wear sunglasses.
Colleen shifted to a statement that she was convinced would spark controversy...she is a "big light person" (Erik oooofed, "uh, it's brutal") meaning she wants full lights, all the lights on, brightest they can go, at any and all hour of the day whereas Erik wants them dim or dark (like Blanche DuBois in "Street Car Named Desire", according to him🙄). Colleen said she KNOWS no one will agree with her, to which Erik joked, "Tara firing up her keyboard to say, "Me too!"" (paraphrasing).
Somehow, M's amazing impression (their opinion) of their cat Daisy's meow came up. It was so outstanding that they are now convinced she has a "musical ear". Colleen went on about M's ability to hear pitch...in music class. Colleen said she cried when M accurately answered a music question. (M better live up to Mom's expectations of being the next musical genius...yikes!) W came up as "super athletic" because he's jumping off stuff and landing perfectly, according to them. Colleen quickly closed, saying they had to go play with their kids.

I was ecstatic to see some other people out and about this morning at Aliso also picking up trash 😍
Me and my boi decided to go far and wide.
Starting at Aliso, we hit every single beach on the way, going all the way to main beach!
Tide was low and we were able to easily walk in the sand/rocks for most of it, only going on the Coast Highway sparingly (to avoid cars and loud noises of machine monsters for my boi Megatron, he hates cars idk super weird)
Then we went through Forest Ave (kudos for the shops/restaurants for keeping that street very clean! I saw no trash there at all!!!! 👍), after enjoying a delicious Jarritos soda at Wild Taco, and past the library. Decided to go behind the restaurants and parking structure to pick up the trash. Lots of trash gets caught in the bushes from the gelato place customers. Where people carelessly throw blue plastic spoons and napkins on the ground, no less than 15 feet from a trash can in any direction.
And that was the end of our St. Paddy’s celebration 🎉 🍀 🍃
Sadly, the most trash accumulation was in the construction areas near Aliso Beach going uphill on coast highway, at minimum, 20 Niagara water bottles were picked up… it’s been windy, I can only imagine how much has ended up in the water.
Sadly I’ve picked up their trash before, on some long walks by myself during prior construction this year. Like, just take one of those Home Depot buckets in the back of their trucks and make it a trash can. They are so close to the water 🤦‍♂️

Huge improvement 👏 , although I was mainly on the highway when I got the 5 bags on Father’s Day, I will have to go back without my critter to scan for more potential trash, safely.
Today marks 5 years since my furry child came home with me from his littermates (his name is Megatron on paper, and is NOT a “temporary name” for the haters).
I am grateful to have him and aspire to give him the best cat life that has ever lived.
He received lots of love yesterday from locals and tourists alike, thank you to those who stepped out of your way to give my boi some well earned pets and compliments 😻

Hey guys!
In the past couple weeks, I've noticed a decent chunk of people asking questions and interested in building the FTN.3 - specifically asking questions regarding Form 1'ing it, since the FTN.3 legitimately seems to be the first printed suppressor worth Form 1'ing.

Yes - you can form 1 it. With the recent change in eForm processing, eForm 1 & eForm 4 times are down to sub 1 week processing with EFTs. If you haven't, I *highly* recommend getting your electronic fingerprints done through PrintScan. Cost like $60 and it takes under 30 minutes and eliminates the need to mail in finger print cards with your application cover.
Luckily, a few people have already Form 1'd a lot of the FTN variants and are available as existing models when filing your eForm 1. 10" OAL for the standard version, 8.1" for the K-Can variant.

Now - to the technical questions. The main one is engraving. While there are technically provisions on the threaded side of the FTN.3 to put an engraved washer listed in the BOM, I asked the developer (pla.boi) if he could add a small lip on the opposite side (non threaded side) of the can to place the washer there. This (in theory) prevents you from being able to pry out the washer easily. I had my washer engraved at Tar Heel State Firearms, I've only ever heard great things from them online AND they were local to me. It took them about 10 minutes to engrave all of my information with plenty of room to spare on the washer. TLDR - any competent local engraver will be able to fit all of your information on the washer.

For longevity, I cannot stress enough to use quality materials for your build. According to the developers & testers of the FTN.3, heat seems to be the primary killer of these cans. the PLA gets soft and "debris" such as unburnt powder, carbon, and other gunk peppers the inside of the can causing erosion and deformation overtime. If form 1'ing this thing, ball out on premium materials. After much debate, I went for Polymaker PA6-CF because when annealed (which is a super easy process for this filament), has a temp deflection of 215c. The breek arms muzzle device helps contain the initial blast (improving durability). And to finish it off, the CF Tube variant offers the strongest reinforcement and the best looks. I used JBWeld UltraRez as the epoxy resin to make sure I was using something quality. The last thing to be mindful of is the type of ammo you put through it. While the FTN.3 is rated for .308 supersonics, this will greatly affect the lifespan of your suppressor. I'm limiting the usage of mine for .22lr, 9mm, 5.7x28, 32acp, and 300 blackout, with *some* 5.56, maybe.

TLDR overall - The FTN.3 is super easy to eform 1 and build. Use the premium materials listed in the guide (CF-Nylon, CF Tube, Breek Arms / KAK Micro can, and quality epoxy resin) - but be mindful at the end of the day that it's a 3D Printed suppressor and has a fraction of durability of a metal one (but also a fraction cheaper). Don't possess any filament or building materials until your eform is approved and you should be good to go!
